How Does The Relationship Between Wolves And Humans Have...
Did you know that dogs haven t always been by our side? You wouldn t believe that the cute, fuzzy,
sweet, loving dogs we have as pets today, came from wolves. The relationship between wolves and
humans has changed over time because the wolves came close to humans. A very long time ago the
dogs we know today haven t always been dogs , they were all once wolves years ago. Wolves are
much different today than the wolves back then. Over 30,000 years ago, sheets of ice covered the
earth, There were no towns, no cities, and no countries. Daily life was a struggle for all of our early
ancestors, it was pretty much survival for the fittest. They all had to hunt for their own food, build
their own huts, and survive. Back then, humans regarded

Analysis of Mozart s K. 515 Mvt. 1
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Quintet No. 3 in C major, K. 515
Andrew McGuire
Dr. Burkart
MUSHIS 200
11/19/2012
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was a prodigy of his time, and arguable the greatest of all time. This paper
will discuss an analysis of his third string quintet in C major, K. 515. Through this piece in Sonata
Form we will dissect the exposition, the development, the recapitulation, and the coda; along with an
analysis of the quintet we will briefly discuss parts of Mozart s life, as well as look at the background
of the Viola Quintet No. 3 in C Major, K. 515. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born into a musical
family after his sister Nannerl, by his father and mother Leopold and Anna Maria. His beginnings
would originate in Salzburg, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As with codas we find our final theme in the piece the part proceeding the measure of rest (see Figure
5). Delving deeper into the coda we find theme two reoccurring in the tonic key, this time not
segregated by instrument parts. For the first time in the movement we see the two viola parts
obviously playing what is the theme (see Figure 6), right before we see the second viola briefly mingle
with the cello.
Figure [ 6 ]
After the brief return of theme two between the cello and violas we end happily on the tonic of the
piece. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed this piece. Not only this piece but also this assignment. It is one
thing to sit in class and read about and take notes over sonata allegro form. It is completely another to
be expected to dive deeper into a piece and try to figure out its inner most workings. As a violist I also
appreciate the fact that Mozart went against the normality of the cello quintet and wrote a viola
quintet. The fact he was willing to go against what was expected of him by society makes me respect
him as a composer even more. After a glimpse into the life of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, we have
discussed his Quintet No. 3 in C major. Discussed its themes and their placement, as well as briefly
the variations of these themes. We also saw a brief glimpse into history around the time that the K.

Neolithic Revolution Essay
Introduction:
The emergence of agriculture was a major stepping stone in human history. During this birth of
agriculture, also known as the Neolithic revolution, humans began inhabiting permanent settlements,
grow their own crops, and domesticate both plants and animals for food (Weisdorf, 2005).
Considering humans have been hunter gatherers for the majority of their approximately 7 million
years of existence, the emergence of agriculture in the Old World only occurring 10,000 5,000 years
ago, marks a significant transformation in food sustenance techniques (Weisdorf, 2005). However, this
turning point in history is associated with both positive and negative implications. There is much
controversy over whether or not the introduction of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Early Neolithic remains found at Catal Hüyük showed similar pathology, in which porotic hypertosis
affect approximately 41% of the population (Angel, 1971). In addition, transverse linear hypoplasia
markers were common on teeth throughout the population, these are generally indicators of early
childhood stresses such as disease or malnutrition (Angel, 1971). From these two sites, it can clearly
be seen that the diet composition had a great effect on the health of Neolithic era humans. The
excessive amount of skeletal markers that indicate malnutrition can suggest the Neolithic diet lacked
the nutrients needed for humans to be healthy. The Alepotrypa skeletal remains had also shown high
incidents of osteoarthritis generally located in the spine, this could be an indicator of a physically
stress full lifestyle (Papathanasiou, 2005). The stress markers on these bones are very different from
early hunter gatherers who were generally free of dietary and activity influenced diseases (O Keefe
Cordain, 2004). This comparison is fairly significant as Neolithic individuals had a very different
lifestyle from that of the hunter gatherers. Evidently, early Neolithic individuals likely participated in
much more labor intense activities than hunter gatherers during daily life. Regardless of the causes for
dietary and stress related skeletal markers, it can be seen that the Neolithic populations experienced
poor health in comparison to hunter gatherers. Neolithic populations

Magnet Schools Vs Charter Schools Essay
Public education has seen new advancements in the past two decades caused by the rapid growth of
the school choice policy. The two alternatives to the traditional public education that will be discussed
are the charter schools and magnet schools.
Charter schools are supposed to contribute to school innovation and reform by their combination of
freedom and accountability (Innovations in Education: Successful Charter Schools 2004, 1). Those
that support charter schools hope that due to their independence they will be able to spark innovative
reforms, promote competition within the public school sector and provide new options to families
(Finn, Manno, Vanourek, 2000; Nathan 1998a; 1998b). Then those on the opposite end of the
spectrum, argue that charter schools and greater choice within the public sector may cause further
racial segregation and cause economical strains for not only states but school districts; all while not
being proved to be more effective (Wells et al., 1998; Fiske Ladd, ... Show more content on

Controls used in the statistical model other than just the charter status are student background, grade
cohort in school effects, and school exact effects which are likely to affect student achievement. In the
model, i, j, k and t represent individual schools, students, grades, and years; s is the test score for each
student for all of his/her school years, α a represents an disregarded school specific characteristic that
does not get any modification over time,δ is an disregarded grade cohort influence within each school,
γ is an disregarded restriction reflecting the potential effect of charter school attendance on s; C is an
gauge variable that equals one if the school is a charter school and zero otherwise, x is a 1 x K vector
of K observable factors affecting s, β is a K x 1 vector of disregarded parameters, and v is a random

Defamiliarization In William Carlos Williams s To A Poor...
What do words actually mean? When we are reading, many of us don t actually stop to think about the
meaning of each word (unless the word is unfamiliar), instead we just assume what it means we read
automatically. Looking at the poem, To A Poor Old Woman by William Carlos Williams, we see the
Shklovsky s concept of defamiliarization in use. When we look at Shklovsky s concept, The technique
of art is to make objects unfamiliar to make forms difficult, to increase the difficulty and length of
perception because the process of perception is an aesthetic end in itself and must be prolonged
(Rivkin and Ryan 9). Using this same concept, looking at the first stanza of To a Poor Old Woman, we
see the way that the stanza was structured in a way to make it unfamiliar. The author splits the
sentences up where they normally wouldn t be split up, so that gives that sense of unfamiliarity, so we
begin to question what the words actually mean. If a person attempts to read it as a normal sentence,
we would see that someone is eating a plum, the street is a paper bag, and something is in her hand.
The reason I believe the lines are broken up in a weird way is because it s trying to give that sense of
unfamiliarity to get an audience to focus on what this stanza is really trying to say. Looking at the
second stance, we see the repetition of They taste good to her written in different forms. This
repetition gives an unfamiliar sense because each time it repeats, it gives off

The Secret Life Of Bees Theme Essay
In the book called The Secret Life of Bee s written by Sue Monk Kidd there are characters such as
Lily, Rosaline, T.Ray, Deborah, August, May, Zach, etc. From the list of characters stated one that I
admire the most and seem to have a lot in common in is Zach. I admire him due to his determination,
his want to be a lawyer, and especially due to the fact that he plays football. Well Zachery Taylor (His
full name) is as determined as they come. Living in a world full of Racist white men with white
privilege breathing down his neck. Zach will just keep on churning through everything. Small
examples of his determination are Law schools being explicit to whites only. Stating his only way of
being educated is unavailable. Some ways he tries to overcome this is communicating with Clayton
Forrest (Lawyer). He ends up learning off Clayton to learn tips and tricks. He uses it as an alternative
to school. Falling in love with Lily also shows another hump in his life that he overcomes with
determination. Knowing it s a white man s world and being caught with Lily will be a serious crime
due to the time. So for that he keeps it lowkey. Everything seems to go good for Zach until he is ...

Game of Thrones Essay
The Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin A Game of Thrones is set in the Seven Kingdoms of
Westeros, a land reminiscent of medieval Europe. Fifteen years prior to the novel, the Seven
Kingdoms were torn apart by a civil war, known as the War of the Usurper. Prince Rhaega Targaryen
kidnapped Lyanna Stark angering her family and of her fiancé, Lord Robert Baratheon. The Mad
King, Aerys II Targaryen had Lyanna father and brother executed when they demanded her safe return.
Her second brother, Eddard, joined his boyhood friend Robert Baratheon and Jon Arryn in declaring
war against the ruling Targaryen dynasty. The civil war ended when Prince Rhaegar was killed in
battle by Robert Baratheon. The wealthiest family around The Lannisters ... Show more content on

Each perspective is held within a chapter which, when the characters move away from each other,
allows the author to leave minor cliff hangers at the end of each chapter. While six of the characters
from this first book are from the same family, the perspective is shifted around in preceding books.
Death is common is this book and it s was one of the best things about it because it played well to the
realism of the time that is depicted. Main characters are not safe like in other novels I have read and
this made for very exciting reading. Self preservation is often the cause for character splits and
confrontations, and by the end of the book characters you assumed you would be attached too for
some time are left headless and gutless or simply gone.
The novel, A Game of Thrones, begins with an encounter with supernatural beings; this may give a
false impression as to what will come. As the story begins to unfold, the theme moves strongly into
the area of political intrigue and this forthcoming war that will happen as a result. The fantasy
element, while always there plays only a minor role in the majority of the rest of the book. A Game of
Thrones in not your usual fare, it is hard hitting and bad things do happen to the good people. Two
families take centre stage in a battle for the Throne the Starks and the Lannisters. The Stark family

No Wonder They Call Me A Bitch Analysis
Ann Hodgman, a freelance writer and former food critic, decides to write a review of various types of
dog foods in her piece, No Wonder They Call Me a Bitch. The research aims to answer the questions
that always puzzled her as a child. Questions about the ingredients in the dog foods and whether it
taste like human food. The writer spends a week eating dog food to answer these questions. Her
results, however, reveals a disappointing truth that dog food is not as glamorous as she once thought,
instead it lacks the quality, health and taste it advertises. The first disappointment she encounters is the
quality of the dog foods. Hodgman expected to open packages filled with real meat, as advertisers
relentlessly remind buyers of a dog s love for real meat. The Gaines burger could neither be described
as poor beef, rich beef or even beef at all. It couldn t be fried and did not have that real beef smell .
Ann describes it as being very malleable, something you could make at home if you had a Play DOH

This is where Hodgman learns the meaning of by products. The Gaines burger packaging specifies
that there are no meat by products, but after reading the back she finds that there are poultry by
products instead. Poultry by products are said to contain what she describes as carcass remnants like
necks, intestines and other parts she isn t sure about. Another distasteful discovery is that these foods
are not predominantly meat. Most dog foods, especially Gaines burger, have soy listed as the main
ingredient, which over time can cause health issues in dogs. On the other hand, Purina O.N.E meals
contain beef tallow as a promoter of good skin and hair coat, but Hodgman found that beef tallow just
improved taste and edibility. This explains its non meat

Individual Mandate Essay
The implementation of the individual mandate on health care gives the United States federal
government unlimited powers. The policy is obviously unconstitutional, and it shows that the Supreme
Court ignored the facts and allowed the government to misinterpret constitutional powers. The
individual mandate allows Congress to use legislative powers that are not given to them in Article l of
the Constitution.
The policy actor regarding the implementation of the individual mandate on health care is the federal
government. Every branch of the federal government has influenced the passage of Obamacare, thus
agreeing to enact the individual mandate. The executive branch, mainly the president, created this
policy and is therefore an official policy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After being challenged in the Supreme Court, it was ruled that the individual mandate was protected
under three provisions of the constitution: the commerce clause, the taxing and spending clause, and
the necessary and proper clause (Somin). By evaluating the terms of these clauses, it is clear that the
individual mandate fails to be represented in any of them. The commerce clause gives Congress the
constitutional power of regulating interstate commerce. The individual mandate, however, is neither
an interstate activity nor a commerce. This clause only gives Congress the power to regulate
commerce that impacts the economy, it does not give the power to tax individuals who refuse to buy a
product. The taxing and spending clause gives the government the power of taxation. But similar to
the commerce clause argument, it does not give the government power to tax on an item that a person
fails to buy. Lastly, the individual mandate was considered protected under the necessary and proper
clause, which gives Congress the power to create laws that are necessary and proper for for carrying
into execution. Health insurance is not a necessity for some people, and Congress does not have the
power to assume that it is. By allowing Congress to assume that the individual mandate is necessary
and proper, we are allowing them to assume that any mandate can fit under this

The Cardiovascular System Of The Circulatory System
The circulatory system (also known as the cardiovascular system) is responsible for respiration
(transporting oxygen and removing carbon dioxide from cells), nutrition (carrying nutrients from
digested food substances to the cells of the body), waste removal (disposing cellular waste products
and poisons that may have been consumed during the digestion process), immunity (fighting against
infectious agents such as pathogens), cellular communication (ensuring that that the transport and the
function of the hormones remain steady) and thermoregulation or homeostasis (maintaining the body s
internal temperature by transporting heat). [The Circulatory, Respiratory, and Digestive Systems.

In the circulatory system, there are three main components that make up the cardiovascular system
and assist in its function: the heart, blood and blood vessels which can be further separated into
arteries and arterioles, circulatory loops, capillaries, veins (coronary arteries) and venules, coronary
arteries and cardiac arteries and hepatic portal circulation (refer to figure 1).
The heart is one of the body s most important organs and is composed of a tissue known as cardiac
muscle which has developed over time to pump blood throughout the body. Over an organism s

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Trade Loans
Trade loans: Trade loans refer to the credit or funds granted to manufactures and traders by the
suppliers of raw material, finished goods, components, etc. Usually business enterprises buy supplies
on a thirty to ninety days credit and this is why it is known as trade loans. This means that the goods
are delivered but payments are not made until the expiry of period of the loan. This type of credit does
not make the funds available in cash but it facilitates purchases without making immediate payment.
This is quite a popular source of finance especially for business professionals.
Bank loans: Bank loans are usually granted by commercial banks as short term finance to business
firms. When a certain amount is advanced by a bank repayable after a specified period, it is known as
bank loan. Such advance is credited to a separate loan account and the borrower has to pay interest on
the whole amount of loan irrespective of the amount of loan actually drawn. Usually loans are granted
against security of assets. Bank loans are usually granted by way of loans such as cash credit, credit
card, overdraft and discounted bills and more.

Public Sentiments Concerning Chinese Immigration Essay
Public Sentiments Concerning Chinese Immigration In 1852, there were over 20,000 Chinese
immigrants living in California (Franks). Americans reacted very negatively to this influx, and their
negative sentiments were made apparent in the California Supreme Court s People v. Hall verdict,
which rendered Chinese testimony unreliable. Then, in 1882, President Chester Arthur signed the
Chinese Exclusion Act, a law that prohibited Chinese laborers from entering the United States (Foner,
651). From the 1850s up to the Exclusion Act of 1882, Americans felt increasingly negative

presumably as a result of the Chinese man s negative influence. The little boy is underage and is

by smoking a cigar at his age he has been corrupted. This depiction shows the underlying perception
that the Chinese were an infestation that were negatively influencing and corrupting the population.
This perception of the Chinese as a menace is also apparent in the image Amusing the Child from The

like a dog, and has large scaly hands with sharp, thin nails. The Chinese man wears tattered clothing

Comparing Charlie And The Chocolate Factory And Charlie...
Film Comparison
In 1971, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory was released, based on Dahl s novel, Charlie and the
Chocolate Factory . In 2005, its remake was released, under the name Charlie and the Chocolate
Factory. After watching and analysing both films, it is a popular opinion that the filmmakers
responsible for creating the remake, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory have made use of story
elements, including story progression, cause and effect, point of view, structuring of time, setting and
characters more effectively to engage the audience more when compared to the original film, Willy
Wonka and the Chocolate Factory .
Character creation and development is a necessary element that is used by filmmakers to engage
audiences. Audiences watch films to see characters change through their experiences and characters
need to be memorable so an audience remains engaged by the film. While both films share the same
characters, there are noticeable differences. In Charlie and the Chocolate Factory , the characters are
obviously playing to extremes. Each character has their niche, and that is their defining trait. For
example, Charlie is poor, Wonka is extremely eccentric, Veruca is stuck up, Augustus is a glutton,
Violet is a winner and Mike is a gamer. In Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory , the basic idea is
the same, however the characters aren t as memorable. However, both films shape their characters
through their appearances. For example, Augustus is quite large, reflecting the fact that he likes to eat
and Charlie looks hungry, suggesting to the audience that he is quite poor and does not get enough to
eat. It is the opinion of many that taking the characters to the extremes engages the audience better
than allowing them to be less defined. Yet, the filmmakers also create characters through their use of
settings, causing the audience to become further engaged in the texts.
In both films, the settings share similar purposes. This purpose being to create conflict as well as
allowing the audience to assume certain things about characters, background, context, etc. However it
is a shared opinion that the remake, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory uses setting more effectively.

betrayal and scars mentally, but it was then Kipling started to grow a love for literature. Between 1878

most poets at the time and it is no surprise this poem was far less popular.
Kiplings poem boots is about the endless marching done in Africa. Kipling explains how the soldier

sense of monotony. Kipling s poem says to count the bullets in the bandoliers and do not let your eyes
drop or the enemy will get on top of you. It is not altogether too bad during the day because of one s

Guantanamo Bay
Guantanamo Bay sits on what was once called Oriente Province. Located on the southeast corner of
the island country of Cuba. Oriente Province has since been divided into five distinct provinces, Las
Tunas, Holguin, Granma, Santiago de Cuba, and Guantanamo. Guantanamo Bay is situated in the belt
of the Caribbean trade winds; it receives sea breezes from the southeast during the afternoons, and
shortly after sunset, the wind changes to a northerly direction and becomes a land breeze. The constant
breezes help to keep the bay cooler than most semi arid deserts. However, the mountains that surround
the bay to the west, north, and east shelter it from cloud systems, thus producing less precipitation and
maintaining the lands aridity. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Still to this day the Marines and Cuba s Frontier Brigade still man the fence line 24 hours a day.
During the Cuban Missile Crisis, October 1962 to December 1962 family members of the service
people were evacuated to the U.S. as President Kennedy announced the presence of Soviet missiles in
Cuba. In 1964 Fidel Castro cut off the water supply to the base, in retaliation of some Cuban
fishermen getting fined for fishing in Florida waters. So water had to be shipped in to the base. Fidel
Castro accused the United States, of stealing water. So base commander John D. Bulkeley had a
portion of the supply pipe excavated and an 18 inch portion of the pipe was cut and removed, to prove
that water was not being stolen from Cuba. The hole was never filled in and the pipe is still exposed,
at the northeastern corner of the base, where the Marines sleep when they are on the fence line duty.
Since the water was shut off, Guantanamo Bay has been self sufficient, and produces 3.4 million
gallons of water daily at its desalination plant and more than 800,000 kilowatt hours of electricity
daily, with the help of the four 262 feet tall wind turbines, located at the top of John Paul Jones Hill on

Neuromuscular Junction Research Paper
The neuromuscular junction is where the nerve meets our muscles. To be able to move, we would
need an impulse sent from our brain to our muscles. The nerve impulse gets sent to our muscles from
the CNS, which leads to our muscles contracting. The nervous impulse that s sent to the CNS is called
the action potential, the impulse that sends a signal to our muscles is known as the motor neurones.
For our muscles to contract we need a nervous impulse, the end of our nerves are called the synaptic
knob, this hits the vesicles and releases acetylcholine. The acetylcholine then goes through the cleft
(the gap between the synaptic knob and the muscle) and tells the muscles to contract, if it doesn t go
through the cleft our muscles will not contract, this is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The nervous impulse will only reach the muscle fibres if the signal from the CNS is strong enough.
This also is the all or nothing principle because if the strength of the signal is not strong enough the
motor unit will contract, but if the strength of the signal is strong enough then all of the motor unit will
contract. The function of the motor unit is to basically allow movement, so without these muscle
fibres we won t be able to have movement. There are two type of muscle fibres, fast twitch and slow
twitch. The slow twitch muscle fibres are good for activities such as endurance events, e.g. the
marathon. This is because these muscles don t get tired during exercise. The fast twitch muscle fibres
get tired too quickly because they are used for quick, sharp events such as 100m sprint so this can
result in fatigue and therefore can build up lactic acid which will result in cramps

Impoverishment Of The Working Class In The Jungle, By...
In The Jungle, by Upton Sinclair, the author depicts how the exploitation and impoverishment of the
working class contributes to political corruption, health problems, crime, and unemployment.
Throughout the novel, Jurgis encounters many different people, one of them being Mike Scully, the
richest man in Packingtown. Political bosses like Scully create the reputation for corruption in
Chicago. He has control over the poorer parts of the city, and uses this to his advantage. An example
being when he meets Jurgis, and convinces him to bribe other people, mainly poor workers, to vote for
the Republican, so that Scully would be guaranteed the winning spot in the following election.
Throughout the novel, corruption increases. In the beginning, there are only slight hints, like when
very few people forget to leave money so Jurgis and Ona can pay for the wedding feast. However, by
the end, Jurgis has been a thief, strikebreaker, and has participated in rigging an election. Jurgis and
his family have very bad luck, and under the conditions they live in, Getting sick is extremely easy,
and getting treatment is extremely hard. Jurgis gets hurt multiple times at work because of a dangerous
environment, and is forced to stay home without receiving any pay. Sickness and disease spreads
quickly among the poor workers, a reason being the extremely poor hygiene at the factories where
they all work, and they also can not afford good enough health care. Ona dies while giving birth in her

Coca Cola s Organizational Performance And Interaction...
Through this term, our team has researched and analyzed the Coca Cola as to its organizational
performance and interaction based on group behavior. We will now conclude our research. Our results
were based on the Action Model of organizational and group conditions and determined if the given
model is effective in preventing roadblocks to achieve success. We will also offer recommendations of
our overall analysis in order to determine if improvement is needed and how to implement change
when presented to us. In order to enact this model and to make it effective there are certain factors that
need to be considered. Groups need to exert enough joint effort in order to accomplish tasks at
acceptable levels of performance. Every member of the group has to offer the adequate skills and
knowledge regarding the subject at hand. Also, consideration to cultural and organizational setting
have to be taken into consideration (Harrison, 2005). Action Model Group Behavior The Coca Cola

Rosa Parks Impact On Civil Rights
Rosa Parks was a strong, powerful woman who was one of the well known Civil Rights figures during
the Civil Rights Movement. She sparked the movement by refusing to leave the seat on a bus in
Montgomery, Alabama, which caused her to get arrested. Due to this action, it has encouraged African
Americans to protest discrimination in public facilities and demand equal rights. Although most
historians discussed Parks impact on social justice, they did not discuss Parks involvement of fighting
against sexual violence. African American women were raped by white men in southern states since
the beginnings of slavery. White men were able to get away with the crime because black women were
unable to seek justice against rapists because of discrimination. Parks did not let them get away with
the crime, so she helped black women seek justice against them. Parks action has helped encourage
women to step out of their shadows and address the issues of rape culture in the southern states. Parks
achievement of fighting sexual violence in the black community was uncommon in American history,
but it is important for people to be informed about the cruelty of rape culture.
To start with Parks involvement against rape, Parks had experienced discrimination and violence at an
early age. Most African American children were aware of racism throughout the southern states. In
most cases, young black women were prepared for the hostility of racism because African American

Essay On China Blue
China Blue
In our society, almost all of us buy clothes unaware of the labour that actually goes into making them.
But what is the true price of even something as simple as a pair of jeans? The unfortunate reality of
what life is truly like working in a sweatshop is investigated in Micha Peled s documentary China
Blue. It follows Jasmine Lee, a sixteen year Chinese girl who leaves her village in hopes of improving
her family s life and her own by finding work in the city. She manages to get a job in the city of Shaxi
as a thread cutter at Lifeng factory, which produces jeans, but has to deal with its harsh conditions,
long hours and abysmally low wages. The most prevalent theme of this documentary is that developed

All in all, the fly on the wall narrative style allows us to see that the client honestly does not care
about anyone else, and would gladly make even more money at the expense of the workers.
Another technique that is used in the film is editing. It was effectively used in the scene that showed
the jeans moving from the factory to a store (Peled 2005). In this scene, the finished jeans are shown
traveling across the world with smooth transitions, from Chinese workers packing the jeans into
boxes, to retail workers stocking them onto shelves in a store full of jeans and it ends by zooming into
a Sale sign. The editing is important because it shows the journey of these jeans, which have been
laboured over for countless hours by exploited workers and how it ends up in a store for people in
countries like ours to buy for several times the production cost. Our culture is full of impulsive buyers,
who see that something is on sale and instinctively want to buy it, despite the fact that they probably
do not need it. As a result, by giving companies that use sweatshops our money, we only support the
use of them and encourage these companies to continue what they are doing.

3) Burns was given extra work and told it was priority work, and he did it well. However, he was
punished for not doing his other work. Analyze this situation according to reinforcement theory. What
type of behaviour would you expect from Burns in this situation and why ?
Reinforcement theory of motivation states that individual s behaviour is a function of its
consequences. This theory focuses totally on what happens to an individual when he takes some
action. This theory is a strong tool for analysing controlling mechanism for individual s behaviour.
However, it does not focus on the causes of individual s behaviour. In this case, Burns was punished
for not doing his other work. According to this theory, this is what had to be done. Since Burns could
not manage his responsibilities to his company, he deserved to be punished. I would expect him to quit
the bank and work for a more specific job. Because he doesn t seem like a man who can manage the
big deals at all.
4) Pamela Jones was going to be transferred to another position in a branch about 100 miles from
Vancouver. Do you think it is only her husband s work that makes her reluctant to take this position?

Background Checks Are The Most Effective Way Of Preventing...
Background checks are the most effective way of preventing gun crimes. There are multiple cases of
school and community shootings and how it could be prevented if there were some sort of system to
catch perpetrators. Gun violence has been an issue since the 1970s and started to peak in the 1980s
and 1990s. Gun Violence is violence committed with the use of a gun and recently there has been an
increase in gun crimes, but due to background checks they have decreased. A background check is the
process of looking up and compiling criminal records, commercial records and financial records of an
individual or an organization. It is proven that background checks reduce homicide and suicides and
background checks are the most effective way to reduce gun related crimes. Background checks are
only as effective as the person or company doing it, so when a gun company fails to complete a proper
background check, they should be held accountable for the customer s actions.
Backgrounds checks are the most effective way of preventing gun related crimes. A study, done by the
National Library of Medicine, examines the relationship between the types of background information

concluded that more background checks are associated with fewer deaths. The Brady Handgun

For students and teachers, having a chance to be in this cultural environment is a life s fortune.
Although today s social life is so different than the past, people are getting harder to focus on pure

A Brief Analysis on the Film King of Masks
The film King of Masks deals with and challenges the feudal idea that men are superior to women;
this ideology, as the film portrays, results in alienation, tragedy and bitterness for girls in Chinese

the goodness of humanity and the human love sprung up from the master apprentice relationship

The Historical And Cultural Context Of The Novels Essay
The historical and cultural context of the novels cannot be fully understood unless we deal first with
the events leading up to the 1920s and the 1950s.
The end of the nineteenth century saw the emergence of life changing technological advances such as
the steam engine, the mechanized factory, as well as gas and electricity (James 1994: 25). Humanity
became aware of the possibilities made available by the technical progress. But instead of using
science and technology to improve and simplify people s way of life, humans created weapons of
mass destruction. The increasingly deadly wars fought with alienating technology had various effects.
On the one hand, the people affected longed for peace and were still conscious of the fact that
technology could be used for good purposes and to bring about the tranquillity and worldly
brotherhood they wished for. On the other hand, after witnessing the horrors of war, after being made
aware what humans could do to one another, the positivism linked to the belief that utopia was
possible began to vanish. Two very contradicting stances on this issue demonstrate the conflict that
arouse after World War I: while some believed that technology still meant progress, others condemned
their use. It is with great unease that readers of dystopian novels realize that the imperfect society is
not about technology gone wrong, but man and human ambition going wrong (Golder 2015: XX).
While utopias up to the 1850s were more concerned with the

or more exons (Bulman et al. 457). Along with these mutations, other mapping techniques have been
used to distinguish further disruptions in the dystrophin gene which seem to cause DMD. Western
blotting techniques have been used to identify nonsense mutations on the dystrophin gene (Bulman et
al. 458). Polymerase chain sequencing has been used to find a mutation in exon 26 (Bulman et al.

termination, which results in a truncated dystrophin protein (Clemens et al. 1781). These are all
mutations found in patients with DMD, which shows that there are various ways the dystrophin gene
can be affected. Each of these mutations cause a problem in that they do not function correctly when
coding for the protein dystrophin.
The malfunction of the protein dystrophin is responsible for the symptoms of DMD. If the dystrophin
gene functions correctly, the normal allele codes for the production of the protein dystrophin ( NCBI ).

Manifest Manhood And The Antebellum American Empire Summary

Greenburg wrote this book to show the American progress. At this time, America has just came out of

The Yellow Wallpaper, By Charlotte Perkins Gilman And A...
Unaccustomed The short stories, The Yellow Wallpaper, written by Charlotte Perkins Gilman and A
Rose for Emily, written by William Faulkner, have a lot in common regarding the main characters.
Each narrative focuses on the lifestyle and behavior of a bizarre woman who has been kept away for a
certain period of time. One could argue that these women were not initially deranged, though
something must have occurred to send them on such a downward spiral. The main characters in each
account, Jane and Miss Emily, endure situations in their lives which prove to be crucial in the
development of their mental illness, and being isolated gradually causes their illness to escalate. Jane
and Miss Emily both face a monumental change in their lives, which results in the conclusion that
mental illness is the cause of their strange behavior. The women face profoundly different
catastrophes; however, each occurrence involves their families. In Charlotte Perkins Gilman s The
Yellow Wallpaper, during an exchange between John and Jane, John explains, I beg of you, for my
sake and for our child s sake, as well as for your own, that you will never for one instant let that idea
enter your mind! (Gilman 137). Jane gives birth to a little baby boy, which is when her life takes a turn
for the worse. Jane begins showing unusual, if not utterly insane, behavior, as well as depression and
anxiety, which is a result of her post partum depression. In William Faulkner s, A Rose for Emily, he

He also created so many jobs for the United States which really helped his community a lot. Evidence
to support my first heroic trait would be in Document G, it shows a map of properties that Carnegie
had in Pittsburg and in the document note it states that Carnegie was a pioneer of Vertical Integration.
This piece of information helps my argument because it tells me that Carnegie is a very good at what
he does if he is a pioneer of Vertical Integration than he is very smart and knows how to get what he
strives and works hard for which is a big accomplishment in the business world. Another piece of
evidence that supports my second heroic trait is when, in Document E, a note at the bottom of the
graph says, By 1900 Carnegie mills were producing about one third of all US steel. This shows me
that if he produces ⅓ of all US steel, then he is giving so many jobs to Americans for producing this
steel which is a great pro for the community.
Some people may say Andrew Carnegie was not a hero due to his favoritism to Scottish and people
from Pittsburgh by giving them gifts but Andrew Carnegie has given $350,000,000 to charities that
benefit his community around him. I believe that someone like Andrew Carnegie who has courage,
who is self made, and has concern for others, meet all the requirements, in my opinion, of being a true

Adams Onis
Treaty of Adams Onis The acquisition of Florida began when the colonies in Florida had stayed
separate and loyal to British in the American revolution. Years later the treaty of Paris was signed
giving Florida to Spain. American immigrants had then moved west to Florida to later revolt on Spain
control in 1816. American settlers in Florida declared independence and president Adams took
advantage of the weak central government of Spain, to Napoleon, and tried to take Florida. The united
states had west of the Mississippi in Florida due to the Louisiana purchase though. During

Essay on Evaluation of the Marketing Strategy of iPod
Evaluation of the Marketing Strategy of iPod
The product I have chosen to do my investigation on is the iPod with Video . I have chosen to do this
product as I know it reasonably well and have had a couple of iPod s since the release date in 2001. It
is an extremely popular product worldwide not just because of its advanced technology, but because it
has become a fashion statement. I m sure its success will continue to increase and that is why I have
chosen it.
To continue with my investigation I will need to collect various information which, will help me make
final recommendations to the company. I will be using the two general types of research, primary and
secondary.

Other companies had released hard drive based music players but none of them compared to the iPod.
It was unique with its glistening white look and white ear buds. iPod almost wasn t released by Apple
as the creator, Tony Fadell, had offered the idea to Phillips and RealNetworks before Apple.
One month after the domestic launch of iPod, it was launched in Europe followed by a series of
peripherals. Several companies were selling charging adapters, FM broadcasters and a range of cases.
By the end of 2001 Apple had sold approximately 125,000 iPod s.
In March 2002, a new 10 GB version of the iPod was released. Along with the new iPod came
software updates including several bug fixes and a new equalizer.
3 months later, in July 2002, a new 20 GB version was released with a major price cut of the 5 and 10
GB iPod. Many new features were added to the software. Also a change was made to the hardware,
where instead of a scroll wheel it was a touch sensitive click wheel.
A while later Apple released the iPod mini, a colourful little device that stored 1000 songs. It easily
was better than any other MP3 on the market at that time and everyone had to have one.
Next came the shuffle, a chewing gum packet sized iPod. This was the first without a screen on click
wheel.
Then the iPod Photo was released. An iPod with a huge memory, colour screen, which could store
both thousands of

Congress Controversial Branch
Congress is perhaps the most despised branch in our government. It is widely considered broken and
outdated, and many believe it ignores the wants of the American people. In this paper, I will discuss
Congress in depth and shed light on this controversial branch. The United States Congress is dived
into two section: The House of Representatives and the Senate. The United Sates Senate has a total of
100 members, while the House of Representatives has 435 members. In order to become a member of
the Senate, one must be at least 30 years old, and have been a U.S Citizen for 9 years at the time of the
elections. One must also be a resident of the state they will be representing. The House of

On my latest research of obtaining a search warrant you will notice that in many cases because a
search warrant grants law enforcement officers the right to search parts of personal space that are not
normally open to public view, the US Constitution and all state constitutions require probable cause or
a fair amount of certainty that a search is related to a crime or criminal investigation before a judge
may issue a warrant. Indeed, a search warrant for one item cannot be used for a broader search of
another item not stated in the warrant. In completing a search warrant, you need to show that based on
the circumstances it s reasonable to believe that a search will produce useful information in solving a
crime. Also with that being said there are many different factors and other cases that deal with using a
search warrants like for example Marcus vs. Search Warrant in his case he had a magazine stand and
the officers pretty much went over their

Bringing Back the Five Year High School Program
Bringing Back the Five Year High School Program For many teens, their four years of high school
have been a memorable and transforming experience, but for others, high school was just another
brick building keeping them from the real world. But what if another year of education was added
back to the four year program and it assisted students with their high school experience? Since 2003,
Toronto high schools have removed the fifth year of the high school program but people have spoken
about bringing back the extra year to help students with course averages, stress and decrease the
dropout rate. Returning to the five year program may be beneficial to help high school students with
academic achievement, post secondary planning and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It gives them time to relax from other sources of stress like increased work load. It is said that having
academic courses will help students stay on task and become persistent because of the increased
amount of work they need to complete, however, an abundance school work can cause extreme stress
and/or anxiety. If a student were to have a course schedule of Physics, biology, Chemistry, Advanced
functions, Calculus and French, he/she would need some time to relax in a day and express themselves
thorough one of their interests, so they may choose to take an arts course (i.e. Drama, Dance, Media
Studies, etc.) or join a club or activity. The five year high school program can help with improving a
student s overall average which will later be of value to them when applying to post secondary
schools. A student with a lower grade average in their final year of highs school will have a smaller
chance of getting accepted into the university/college program of their choice whereas a student with a
higher average during their final high school year will have a greater chance of being accepted into
university/college program of their choice. The fifth year will provide more time to focus on school
work and to receive help from teachers. The five year program in high schools will significantly help
students with course planning and marks but also help them keep peace of mind.

On James Weldon Johnson’s “The Autobiography of an...
When the narrator of Johnson s novel falls in love, it is to music he turns to express that emotion to his
intended one (149). She in turn answered in kind, letting the notes and tempo combine with her words
in expression of her love returned to him. The relevance of music in Johnson s novel should not be
undercut by the other issues within the confines of his text. Exploring the meaning of this inclusion
will be to explore the theme of music itself. It will encompass the examination of the style of music,
the generation in which the story takes place along with the issues of race. Johnson s use of music to
develop a story line and illuminate the various issues and themes of his novel is a demonstration of his
love of the art form along ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is fitting with the rest of the narrator s description of these times. The closeness of mother and
son, the evenings usually ending with the boy in his mother s arms while she croon [s} some old
melody without words (5). The narrator notes during these times, his mother would look into the fire
with great dark eyes, ...to where? No one knew but her (5). This image personifies a surreal moment
when music takes the heart and mind to another time and place. The two were in harmony with each
other, he forming the background of her existence while she lived each day in a pleasing manner of
daily routine and motherly instruction. From this the narrator takes the reader through the
development of his attachment to the art form. His talent, which expanded during his young childhood
and the early thumping on the piano, evolved into his adulthood styling of ragtime. His early
instruction happened in the form of a woman and her daughter, each of whom taught the young
narrator in music and in general education. This formed a basic foundation in the fundamentals of
music which enabled the narrator to build his musical repertoire. Later and with the aid of a new
instructor, the label of infant prodigy was used to describe the level of talent in possession of the
narrator (18). The author employs much into the descriptions of the narrator s early development in
music and his training, not only in hymns and old melodies, but in the classics also.

  • 2. How Does The Relationship Between Wolves And Humans Have... Did you know that dogs haven t always been by our side? You wouldn t believe that the cute, fuzzy, sweet, loving dogs we have as pets today, came from wolves. The relationship between wolves and humans has changed over time because the wolves came close to humans. A very long time ago the dogs we know today haven t always been dogs , they were all once wolves years ago. Wolves are much different today than the wolves back then. Over 30,000 years ago, sheets of ice covered the earth, There were no towns, no cities, and no countries. Daily life was a struggle for all of our early ancestors, it was pretty much survival for the fittest. They all had to hunt for their own food, build their own huts, and survive. Back then, humans regarded ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Analysis of Mozart s K. 515 Mvt. 1 Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Quintet No. 3 in C major, K. 515 Andrew McGuire Dr. Burkart MUSHIS 200 11/19/2012 Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was a prodigy of his time, and arguable the greatest of all time. This paper will discuss an analysis of his third string quintet in C major, K. 515. Through this piece in Sonata Form we will dissect the exposition, the development, the recapitulation, and the coda; along with an analysis of the quintet we will briefly discuss parts of Mozart s life, as well as look at the background of the Viola Quintet No. 3 in C Major, K. 515. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born into a musical family after his sister Nannerl, by his father and mother Leopold and Anna Maria. His beginnings would originate in Salzburg, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As with codas we find our final theme in the piece the part proceeding the measure of rest (see Figure 5). Delving deeper into the coda we find theme two reoccurring in the tonic key, this time not segregated by instrument parts. For the first time in the movement we see the two viola parts obviously playing what is the theme (see Figure 6), right before we see the second viola briefly mingle with the cello. Figure [ 6 ] After the brief return of theme two between the cello and violas we end happily on the tonic of the piece. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed this piece. Not only this piece but also this assignment. It is one thing to sit in class and read about and take notes over sonata allegro form. It is completely another to be expected to dive deeper into a piece and try to figure out its inner most workings. As a violist I also appreciate the fact that Mozart went against the normality of the cello quintet and wrote a viola quintet. The fact he was willing to go against what was expected of him by society makes me respect him as a composer even more. After a glimpse into the life of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, we have discussed his Quintet No. 3 in C major. Discussed its themes and their placement, as well as briefly the variations of these themes. We also saw a brief glimpse into history around the time that the K. 515 and what could be considered ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Neolithic Revolution Essay Introduction: The emergence of agriculture was a major stepping stone in human history. During this birth of agriculture, also known as the Neolithic revolution, humans began inhabiting permanent settlements, grow their own crops, and domesticate both plants and animals for food (Weisdorf, 2005). Considering humans have been hunter gatherers for the majority of their approximately 7 million years of existence, the emergence of agriculture in the Old World only occurring 10,000 5,000 years ago, marks a significant transformation in food sustenance techniques (Weisdorf, 2005). However, this turning point in history is associated with both positive and negative implications. There is much controversy over whether or not the introduction of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Early Neolithic remains found at Catal Hüyük showed similar pathology, in which porotic hypertosis affect approximately 41% of the population (Angel, 1971). In addition, transverse linear hypoplasia markers were common on teeth throughout the population, these are generally indicators of early childhood stresses such as disease or malnutrition (Angel, 1971). From these two sites, it can clearly be seen that the diet composition had a great effect on the health of Neolithic era humans. The excessive amount of skeletal markers that indicate malnutrition can suggest the Neolithic diet lacked the nutrients needed for humans to be healthy. The Alepotrypa skeletal remains had also shown high incidents of osteoarthritis generally located in the spine, this could be an indicator of a physically stress full lifestyle (Papathanasiou, 2005). The stress markers on these bones are very different from early hunter gatherers who were generally free of dietary and activity influenced diseases (O Keefe Cordain, 2004). This comparison is fairly significant as Neolithic individuals had a very different lifestyle from that of the hunter gatherers. Evidently, early Neolithic individuals likely participated in much more labor intense activities than hunter gatherers during daily life. Regardless of the causes for dietary and stress related skeletal markers, it can be seen that the Neolithic populations experienced poor health in comparison to hunter gatherers. • 5. Magnet Schools Vs Charter Schools Essay Public education has seen new advancements in the past two decades caused by the rapid growth of the school choice policy. The two alternatives to the traditional public education that will be discussed are the charter schools and magnet schools. Charter schools are supposed to contribute to school innovation and reform by their combination of freedom and accountability (Innovations in Education: Successful Charter Schools 2004, 1). Those that support charter schools hope that due to their independence they will be able to spark innovative reforms, promote competition within the public school sector and provide new options to families (Finn, Manno, Vanourek, 2000; Nathan 1998a; 1998b). Then those on the opposite end of the spectrum, argue that charter schools and greater choice within the public sector may cause further racial segregation and cause economical strains for not only states but school districts; all while not being proved to be more effective (Wells et al., 1998; Fiske Ladd, ... • 6. Defamiliarization In William Carlos Williams s To A Poor... What do words actually mean? When we are reading, many of us don t actually stop to think about the meaning of each word (unless the word is unfamiliar), instead we just assume what it means we read automatically. Looking at the poem, To A Poor Old Woman by William Carlos Williams, we see the Shklovsky s concept of defamiliarization in use. When we look at Shklovsky s concept, The technique of art is to make objects unfamiliar to make forms difficult, to increase the difficulty and length of perception because the process of perception is an aesthetic end in itself and must be prolonged (Rivkin and Ryan 9). Using this same concept, looking at the first stanza of To a Poor Old Woman, we see the way that the stanza was structured in a way to make it unfamiliar. The author splits the sentences up where they normally wouldn t be split up, so that gives that sense of unfamiliarity, so we begin to question what the words actually mean. If a person attempts to read it as a normal sentence, we would see that someone is eating a plum, the street is a paper bag, and something is in her hand. The reason I believe the lines are broken up in a weird way is because it s trying to give that sense of unfamiliarity to get an audience to focus on what this stanza is really trying to say. Looking at the second stance, we see the repetition of They taste good to her written in different forms. This repetition gives an unfamiliar sense because each time it repeats, it gives off ... The Secret Life Of Bees Theme Essay In the book called The Secret Life of Bee s written by Sue Monk Kidd there are characters such as Lily, Rosaline, T.Ray, Deborah, August, May, Zach, etc. From the list of characters stated one that I admire the most and seem to have a lot in common in is Zach. I admire him due to his determination, his want to be a lawyer, and especially due to the fact that he plays football. Well Zachery Taylor (His full name) is as determined as they come. Living in a world full of Racist white men with white privilege breathing down his neck. Zach will just keep on churning through everything. Small examples of his determination are Law schools being explicit to whites only. Stating his only way of being educated is unavailable. Some ways he tries to overcome this is communicating with Clayton Forrest (Lawyer). He ends up learning off Clayton to learn tips and tricks. He uses it as an alternative to school. Falling in love with Lily also shows another hump in his life that he overcomes with determination. Knowing it s a white man s world and being caught with Lily will be a serious crime due to the time. So for that he keeps it lowkey. Everything seems to go good for Zach until he is ... Fifteen years prior to the novel, the Seven Kingdoms were torn apart by a civil war, known as the War of the Usurper. Prince Rhaega Targaryen kidnapped Lyanna Stark angering her family and of her fiancé, Lord Robert Baratheon. The Mad King, Aerys II Targaryen had Lyanna father and brother executed when they demanded her safe return. Each perspective is held within a chapter which, when the characters move away from each other, allows the author to leave minor cliff hangers at the end of each chapter. While six of the characters from this first book are from the same family, the perspective is shifted around in preceding books. Death is common is this book and it s was one of the best things about it because it played well to the realism of the time that is depicted. Main characters are not safe like in other novels I have read and this made for very exciting reading. Self preservation is often the cause for character splits and confrontations, and by the end of the book characters you assumed you would be attached too for some time are left headless and gutless or simply gone. The novel, A Game of Thrones, begins with an encounter with supernatural beings; this may give a false impression as to what will come. As the story begins to unfold, the theme moves strongly into the area of political intrigue and this forthcoming war that will happen as a result. The fantasy element, while always there plays only a minor role in the majority of the rest of the book. • 11. No Wonder They Call Me A Bitch Analysis Ann Hodgman, a freelance writer and former food critic, decides to write a review of various types of dog foods in her piece, No Wonder They Call Me a Bitch. The research aims to answer the questions that always puzzled her as a child. Questions about the ingredients in the dog foods and whether it taste like human food. The writer spends a week eating dog food to answer these questions. Her results, however, reveals a disappointing truth that dog food is not as glamorous as she once thought, instead it lacks the quality, health and taste it advertises. The first disappointment she encounters is the quality of the dog foods. Hodgman expected to open packages filled with real meat, as advertisers relentlessly remind buyers of a dog s love for real meat. The Gaines burger could neither be described as poor beef, rich beef or even beef at all. It couldn t be fried and did not have that real beef smell . Ann describes it as being very malleable, something you could make at home if you had a Play DOH Fun Factory. (107). The Kal Kan pedigree meals were also amiss. Another distasteful discovery is that these foods are not predominantly meat. Most dog foods, especially Gaines burger, have soy listed as the main ingredient, which over time can cause health issues in dogs. • 12. Individual Mandate Essay The implementation of the individual mandate on health care gives the United States federal government unlimited powers. The policy is obviously unconstitutional, and it shows that the Supreme Court ignored the facts and allowed the government to misinterpret constitutional powers. The individual mandate allows Congress to use legislative powers that are not given to them in Article l of the Constitution. After being challenged in the Supreme Court, it was ruled that the individual mandate was protected under three provisions of the constitution: the commerce clause, the taxing and spending clause, and the necessary and proper clause (Somin). By evaluating the terms of these clauses, it is clear that the individual mandate fails to be represented in any of them. The commerce clause gives Congress the constitutional power of regulating interstate commerce. The individual mandate, however, is neither an interstate activity nor a commerce. This clause only gives Congress the power to regulate commerce that impacts the economy, it does not give the power to tax individuals who refuse to buy a product. The taxing and spending clause gives the government the power of taxation. But similar to the commerce clause argument, it does not give the government power to tax on an item that a person fails to buy. Lastly, the individual mandate was considered protected under the necessary and proper clause, which gives Congress the power to create laws that are necessary and proper for for carrying into execution. This means that the goods are delivered but payments are not made until the expiry of period of the loan. This type of credit does not make the funds available in cash but it facilitates purchases without making immediate payment. • 16. Public Sentiments Concerning Chinese Immigration Essay Public Sentiments Concerning Chinese Immigration In 1852, there were over 20,000 Chinese immigrants living in California (Franks). Americans reacted very negatively to this influx, and their negative sentiments were made apparent in the California Supreme Court s People v. Hall verdict, which rendered Chinese testimony unreliable. Then, in 1882, President Chester Arthur signed the Chinese Exclusion Act, a law that prohibited Chinese laborers from entering the United States (Foner, 651). From the 1850s up to the Exclusion Act of 1882, Americans felt increasingly negative sentiments towards the Chinese. Here, the Chinese man partakes in his devious acts, away from the public eye. The little boy is underage and is engaging in immoral behavior. The Chinese man has corrupted him simply through association, and by smoking a cigar at his age he has been corrupted. This depiction shows the underlying perception that the Chinese were an infestation that were negatively influencing and corrupting the population. This perception of the Chinese as a menace is also apparent in the image Amusing the Child from The Wasp. This picture depicts the Chinese man as a diabolical creature: He crawls around on four legs like a dog, and has large scaly hands with sharp, thin nails. The Chinese man wears tattered clothing and from behind, a long, red devil s tale extends from his body. • 19. Comparing Charlie And The Chocolate Factory And Charlie... Film Comparison In 1971, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory was released, based on Dahl s novel, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory . In 2005, its remake was released, under the name Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. After watching and analysing both films, it is a popular opinion that the filmmakers responsible for creating the remake, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory have made use of story elements, including story progression, cause and effect, point of view, structuring of time, setting and characters more effectively to engage the audience more when compared to the original film, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory . Character creation and development is a necessary element that is used by filmmakers to engage audiences. Audiences watch films to see characters change through their experiences and characters need to be memorable so an audience remains engaged by the film. While both films share the same characters, there are noticeable differences. In Charlie and the Chocolate Factory , the characters are obviously playing to extremes. Each character has their niche, and that is their defining trait. For example, Charlie is poor, Wonka is extremely eccentric, Veruca is stuck up, Augustus is a glutton, Violet is a winner and Mike is a gamer. In Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory , the basic idea is the same, however the characters aren t as memorable. However, both films shape their characters through their appearances. For example, Augustus is quite large, reflecting the fact that he likes to eat and Charlie looks hungry, suggesting to the audience that he is quite poor and does not get enough to eat. It is the opinion of many that taking the characters to the extremes engages the audience better than allowing them to be less defined. Yet, the filmmakers also create characters through their use of settings, causing the audience to become further engaged in the texts. In both films, the settings share similar purposes. This purpose being to create conflict as well as allowing the audience to assume certain things about characters, background, context, etc. However it is a shared opinion that the remake, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory uses setting more effectively. • 22. Neuromuscular Junction Research Paper The neuromuscular junction is where the nerve meets our muscles. To be able to move, we would need an impulse sent from our brain to our muscles. The nerve impulse gets sent to our muscles from the CNS, which leads to our muscles contracting. The nervous impulse that s sent to the CNS is called the action potential, the impulse that sends a signal to our muscles is known as the motor neurones. For our muscles to contract we need a nervous impulse, the end of our nerves are called the synaptic knob, this hits the vesicles and releases acetylcholine. The acetylcholine then goes through the cleft (the gap between the synaptic knob and the muscle) and tells the muscles to contract, if it doesn t go through the cleft our muscles will not contract, this is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The nervous impulse will only reach the muscle fibres if the signal from the CNS is strong enough. This also is the all or nothing principle because if the strength of the signal is not strong enough the motor unit will contract, but if the strength of the signal is strong enough then all of the motor unit will contract. The function of the motor unit is to basically allow movement, so without these muscle fibres we won t be able to have movement. There are two type of muscle fibres, fast twitch and slow twitch. The slow twitch muscle fibres are good for activities such as endurance events, e.g. the marathon. This is because these muscles don t get tired during exercise. The fast twitch muscle fibres get tired too quickly because they are used for quick, sharp events such as 100m sprint so this can result in fatigue and therefore can build up lactic acid which will result in cramps (http://www.bbc.co.uk/science/humanbody/body/factfiles/fastandslowtwitch/soleus.shtml) so if we didn t have slow or fast twitch fibres, we wouldn t be able to participate in them type of ... She sparked the movement by refusing to leave the seat on a bus in Montgomery, Alabama, which caused her to get arrested. Due to this action, it has encouraged African Americans to protest discrimination in public facilities and demand equal rights. Although most historians discussed Parks impact on social justice, they did not discuss Parks involvement of fighting against sexual violence. African American women were raped by white men in southern states since the beginnings of slavery. White men were able to get away with the crime because black women were unable to seek justice against rapists because of discrimination. Parks did not let them get away with the crime, so she helped black women seek justice against them. Parks action has helped encourage women to step out of their shadows and address the issues of rape culture in the southern states. Parks achievement of fighting sexual violence in the black community was uncommon in American history, but it is important for people to be informed about the cruelty of rape culture. All in all, the fly on the wall narrative style allows us to see that the client honestly does not care about anyone else, and would gladly make even more money at the expense of the workers. Another technique that is used in the film is editing. It was effectively used in the scene that showed the jeans moving from the factory to a store (Peled 2005). In this scene, the finished jeans are shown traveling across the world with smooth transitions, from Chinese workers packing the jeans into boxes, to retail workers stocking them onto shelves in a store full of jeans and it ends by zooming into a Sale sign. The editing is important because it shows the journey of these jeans, which have been laboured over for countless hours by exploited workers and how it ends up in a store for people in countries like ours to buy for several times the production cost. Our culture is full of impulsive buyers, who see that something is on sale and instinctively want to buy it, despite the fact that they probably do not need it. The Historical And Cultural Context Of The Novels Essay The historical and cultural context of the novels cannot be fully understood unless we deal first with the events leading up to the 1920s and the 1950s. The end of the nineteenth century saw the emergence of life changing technological advances such as the steam engine, the mechanized factory, as well as gas and electricity (James 1994: 25). Humanity became aware of the possibilities made available by the technical progress. But instead of using science and technology to improve and simplify people s way of life, humans created weapons of mass destruction. The increasingly deadly wars fought with alienating technology had various effects. On the one hand, the people affected longed for peace and were still conscious of the fact that technology could be used for good purposes and to bring about the tranquillity and worldly brotherhood they wished for. On the other hand, after witnessing the horrors of war, after being made aware what humans could do to one another, the positivism linked to the belief that utopia was possible began to vanish. Two very contradicting stances on this issue demonstrate the conflict that arouse after World War I: while some believed that technology still meant progress, others condemned their use. It is with great unease that readers of dystopian novels realize that the imperfect society is not about technology gone wrong, but man and human ambition going wrong (Golder 2015: XX). Along with these mutations, other mapping techniques have been used to distinguish further disruptions in the dystrophin gene which seem to cause DMD. Western blotting techniques have been used to identify nonsense mutations on the dystrophin gene (Bulman et al. 458). Polymerase chain sequencing has been used to find a mutation in exon 26 (Bulman et al. 458). Southern analysis revealed that another gene problem which leads to DMD is a premature chain termination, which results in a truncated dystrophin protein (Clemens et al. 1781). These are all mutations found in patients with DMD, which shows that there are various ways the dystrophin gene can be affected. Each of these mutations cause a problem in that they do not function correctly when coding for the protein dystrophin. • 36. Manifest Manhood And The Antebellum American Empire Summary Manifest Manhood and the Antebellum American Empire by Amy Greenburg analyzes the time period between 1848 through 1861. The book emphasizes on manifest destiny and gender roles that it plays during this time. Greenburg focuses on real life people and politics for her readers. She specifically does that by using stories from newspapers, journals, diaries, letters, books, and more. Greenburg wrote this book to show the American progress. At this time, America has just came out of the Mexican American war. She wants the readers to know how America was still expanding. Manifest destiny was still continuing, although some historians might disagree. Manhood was mostly defined by the land that you had. In addition, America was transforming politically ... Although it was restraints in manhood because manifest destiny was technically over . She points the direction towards slave owners and southerners, not towards America as a whole. In addition, she separates the rich and poor in the book. The guys who needed manhood were most likely the poor. • 37. The Yellow Wallpaper, By Charlotte Perkins Gilman And A... Unaccustomed The short stories, The Yellow Wallpaper, written by Charlotte Perkins Gilman and A Rose for Emily, written by William Faulkner, have a lot in common regarding the main characters. Each narrative focuses on the lifestyle and behavior of a bizarre woman who has been kept away for a certain period of time. One could argue that these women were not initially deranged, though something must have occurred to send them on such a downward spiral. The main characters in each account, Jane and Miss Emily, endure situations in their lives which prove to be crucial in the development of their mental illness, and being isolated gradually causes their illness to escalate. Jane and Miss Emily both face a monumental change in their lives, which results in the conclusion that mental illness is the cause of their strange behavior. The women face profoundly different catastrophes; however, each occurrence involves their families. In Charlotte Perkins Gilman s The Yellow Wallpaper, during an exchange between John and Jane, John explains, I beg of you, for my sake and for our child s sake, as well as for your own, that you will never for one instant let that idea enter your mind! (Gilman 137). Jane gives birth to a little baby boy, which is when her life takes a turn for the worse. Jane begins showing unusual, if not utterly insane, behavior, as well as depression and anxiety, which is a result of her post partum depression. In William Faulkner s, A Rose for Emily, he ... • 38. Andrew Carnegie Dbq Andrew Carnegie was an American businessman and Industrialist who led the expansion of the American steel industry in the late 19th century. He became one of the wealthiest men during the course of the 19th century due to his involvement in producing steel. By 1900, Carnegie mills were producing about ⅓ of all steel in the U.S. which was a huge accomplishment in the steel making business. There is no argument that he is an extraordinary businessman who was self made and was a hard worker who so many Americans look up to as a model businessman which is why I ask myself, was Andrew Carnegie a hero? I believe he was a hero because he has paved the road for so many American businessmen and meets all my requirements for being a hero by having ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He also created so many jobs for the United States which really helped his community a lot. Evidence to support my first heroic trait would be in Document G, it shows a map of properties that Carnegie had in Pittsburg and in the document note it states that Carnegie was a pioneer of Vertical Integration. This piece of information helps my argument because it tells me that Carnegie is a very good at what he does if he is a pioneer of Vertical Integration than he is very smart and knows how to get what he strives and works hard for which is a big accomplishment in the business world. Another piece of evidence that supports my second heroic trait is when, in Document E, a note at the bottom of the graph says, By 1900 Carnegie mills were producing about one third of all US steel. This shows me that if he produces ⅓ of all US steel, then he is giving so many jobs to Americans for producing this steel which is a great pro for the community. Some people may say Andrew Carnegie was not a hero due to his favoritism to Scottish and people from Pittsburgh by giving them gifts but Andrew Carnegie has given $350,000,000 to charities that benefit his community around him. I believe that someone like Andrew Carnegie who has courage, who is self made, and has concern for others, meet all the requirements, in my opinion, of being a true hero. Her research mainly focuses on the expression of interpersonal relationships in conversational interactions, including how these interactions are affected by gender and cultural differences. In her essay Tannen uses gender to reveal the differences between male and female conversational styles in classroom discussions. She formulates the theory that males naturally prefer and dominate contributions to these debate like discussions while females incline to contribute to less hostile conversations. Tannen presents her argument effectively using simple vocabulary and appropriate literary devices however, as the essay progresses she ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Tannen starts her argument by explaining differences in conversational styles between genders. This provides the audience an idea about what topic she is going to debate. However, after stating her thesis and backing it with references, she detracts from her main argument. Firstly, she includes the insights of her colleagues. These are meant to provide leverage to her argument yet they distract the audience from the main idea and Tannen does not incorporate the information into her own ideas thus these accounts fail to validate her theory. Finally, she jumps on to her class experiment, going into unnecessary details as it covers a quarter of her article. Even though the experiment yields results which Tannen finds successful, the results hardly relate to her main idea rather they provide new conclusions which again cause the audience to wonder about the direction the article is headed. Again Tannen fails to integrate the findings with her thesis and generally assumes every difference in conversational style is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

On my latest research of obtaining a search warrant you will notice that in many cases because a search warrant grants law enforcement officers the right to search parts of personal space that are not normally open to public view, the US Constitution and all state constitutions require probable cause or a fair amount of certainty that a search is related to a crime or criminal investigation before a judge may issue a warrant. Indeed, a search warrant for one item cannot be used for a broader search of another item not stated in the warrant. In completing a search warrant, you need to show that based on the circumstances it s reasonable to believe that a search will produce useful information in solving a crime. Since 2003, Toronto high schools have removed the fifth year of the high school program but people have spoken about bringing back the extra year to help students with course averages, stress and decrease the dropout rate. It gives them time to relax from other sources of stress like increased work load. It is said that having academic courses will help students stay on task and become persistent because of the increased amount of work they need to complete, however, an abundance school work can cause extreme stress and/or anxiety. If a student were to have a course schedule of Physics, biology, Chemistry, Advanced functions, Calculus and French, he/she would need some time to relax in a day and express themselves thorough one of their interests, so they may choose to take an arts course (i.e. Drama, Dance, Media Studies, etc.) or join a club or activity. The five year high school program can help with improving a student s overall average which will later be of value to them when applying to post secondary schools. A student with a lower grade average in their final year of highs school will have a smaller chance of getting accepted into the university/college program of their choice whereas a student with a higher average during their final high school year will have a greater chance of being accepted into university/college program of their choice. The fifth year will provide more time to focus on school work and to receive help from teachers.
