vast amounts of information to distinguish credible sources from potentially misleading or
biased ones. The writer must also explore various perspectives on the matter, considering both the
advantages and disadvantages of buying cheap essays.

Streetcar Named Desire Monologue
A Streetcar Named Revenge It is a dark autumn evening six years after Blanche
was taken away. The moon was out and the sky was gloomy. Blanche has been
released from her asylum along with her new best friends, Elizabeth and Susan.
The women are dressed in black dresses with red hooded cloaks as they arrive at
the Kowalski household. Stella is putting her son to bed for a nap when Blanche
and her friends arrive. [Stella quietly closes a bedroom door off stage. Footsteps
can be heard moving around. Off stage Stella opens another door.] [Off stage]

The Dual Writing Style In Gillian Flynn s Gone Girl
Nick and Amy moved from New York City, where both were laid off from their
previous jobs as writers, to Nick s hometown of North Carthage, Missouri to care for
Nick s cancer stricken mother and his father with alzheimer s. The two have a quite
imperfect marriage that is at times profoundly one sided, but is disrupted when Amy
goes missing. A search Amy quickly ensues, and as the investigation progresses, the
truth about Amy and Nick s not so wonderful marriagecomes out for all to see. In
this journal I will be predicting the possibility of Nick s involvement in the case,
questioning why the detectives won t rule Nick out as a possible suspect, and
evaluating the dual perspectivewriting style in Gone Girl.

Along with the rotating viewpoints, the two stories being told, by Amy and Nick,
happen at different times through the collective story. I usually dislike this writing
method, but in this plot, I think it works well. I like that the two do not tell the
same story from different perspectives but rather one tells the story and the other
follows with a background perspective that gives some insight as to the reasoning
behind the actions and motives of the characters in the present. In the case of this
book, Nick is narrating the investigation of Amy s disappearance as chapters of Amy
s diary chronicle the past relationship between the two counterparts. The two
perspectives complement each other, but neither spoil the storyline, as dual
perspective books tend to do. For example, Amy often gives us accounts from Nick
and Amy s early relationship. Her discoveries from the dawn of their romance shows
how the opposite family structures of the two partners change how act in the present
of their relationship: People say children from broken homes have it hard, but the
children of charmed marriages have their own particular challenges (Flynn 27). The
two narrators of the story give a deep understanding of the motives and actions
without giving too many details that might spoil the future of the

risks?
Boston Chicken is a company to operate and franchise food service stores that sold
meals featuring rotisserie cooked chicken, fresh vegetables, salads, and other side
dishes. Its concept is to combine fresh, flavorful, and appealing meals associated with
traditional home cooking with a high level of convenience and value. Boston Chicken
focused its expansion through franchising the company through large regional
developers rather than selling store franchises to a large number of small franchisees.

The analyses indicate that the franchisees are profitable at this level of sales; some
franchisees appear to be having cash flow problem, since footnote 7 points out
Boston Chicken had been forced to make advances to franchisees to fund local and
national advertising; the sales from same store and distribution of same store sales;
late payments by franchisees; the total cash floe generated by all stores.
5. How is Boston Chicken performing?
The ROE of Boston Chicken from 1993 to 1994 shows the improvements from 1.7%
to 6.2%, which is due to the improvements of Net Income. The increase in the
number of stores from which Boston Chicken is the factor contributing to the
improvements. The revenue shows the leap from $8.282 million in 1992 to $42.53
million in 1993 to $96.15 million in 1994.The new stores leading to an increase in
royalty and franchise fees which is the reason of the increased revenue. NOPAT
margin and EBITDA margin shows improvement in proportion to Net Income
margin that indicates there is no change in interest. Profit margins indicate that the
company s performance has improved markedly in 1994.The stock value for Boston
Chicken for 1994 was about $7 and the actual stock price was about $16 at the end
of 1994. This indicates that Boston Chicken has been overvalued due to the
optimistic view of market because of the present revenue growth rate and the
inclusion of royalties and initial
Women Are Not Born But Made
Women are not born but made. Nowadays we celebrate women s day but there are
many situations we had come through to this position and space Punjabi women
occupy nowadays, and comparing it to the times 60 years ago. The age of my
grandmother. When the country had just got independence. When the women are
participating in nationalist movements were being pushed into the domestic
household works.
There have been innumerable debates about gender in (Banerjee 2012) Punjab
over last 60 years. Most of them were about women s positions in society, their
education, health, economic status, gender equality. What we can conclude from
these discussions is that how women have always held a certain contradictory
position in our developing country in past years. In recent years women held a
very less respectful position . they were not treated as human. On other hand, Punjab
has an increased percentage of literacy among women . now women are allowed to
enter into professional fields now. However, in the 1950s my grandmother tells
women were just made to do household chores. They were not allowed to get higher
education or even go out without the permission of parents. They were supposed to
be at home . while on the other hand the practices of female foeticide, poor health
conditions and lack of education persisting still continue. Even the supportive
ideology of the home being women s real domain and marriage being her ultimate
destiny has not changed much in last 60 years.

Cleopatra Research Paper
Cleopatra: The life and legend When the name Cleopatra is uttered in the west it is
most likely to be greeted with recognition. In western cultures this last Queen of
Egypt is a popular subject for stories. A tale told in many ways, Cleopatra s story
has been told in literature, plays, and movies. She is even a popular subject in art.
Her s is a story about an exotic woman who used sex and cunning to get what she
wanted. It is a story about murder, seduction, and manipulation. It is the classic tale
written as a warning about all women with power. It was a story told by her
enemies after her death. Cleopatra was not a simple seductress, she was an
intelligent and at times ruthless woman, she was one of the great rulers of Egypt.

She was a descendant of the greek Ptolemy I who was a friend of Alexander the
Great, who had conquered Egypt a few centuries before her time, and was a general
in Alexander s army (Hawass 2010:16). Upon the death of Alexander the Great
Ptolemy I took control of Egypt and started the Ptolemaic dynasty (Hawass 2010:16).
Cleopatra VII, was born in 69 B.C.; she was the second daughter and child of
Ptolemy XII, who had five legitimate children in all (Roller 2010:3). During the
first few years of Cleopatra VII s life marked a fairly quiet time in the reign of her
father; but during this time he gave an extensive amount of money to Roman
leaders as a payment for their support of his leadership and help in controlling the
Egyptian people (Roller 2010:18 21). Ptolemy XII began taking loans from a
Roman banker to help support this habit, and imposed heavy taxes on his people
which caused a revolt and strike of farmers. Despite all this influx of revenue
Ptolemy continued to spend exorbitant amounts on both gifts for Roman leaders
and for his own lavish tastes, feeding his debts to Rome (Roller and Roller
2010:21). Due to the unrest of the now starving people in Egypt of that time, and
the fact that Ptolemy XII let his brother Ptolemy of Cyprus fall, watching silently as
Cyprus became a Roman territory, there was an uprising in 58 B.C. (Roller 2010:22).
So Ptolemy XII escaped Egypt and the revolt of his people by fleeing
The Composition and Rhetoric Field Essay
Composition and Rhetoric (a.k.a. Writing Studies): A Flexible Field
In his essay, Teach Writing as a Process not a Product, Donald Murray outlines the
major difference between the traditional pedagogy that directed the teaching of
writing in the past and his newly hailed model. Traditionally, Murray explains,
English teachers were taught to teach and evaluate students writing as if it was a
finished product of literature when, as he has discovered, students learn better if
they re taught that writing is a process. For Murray, once teachers regard writing as
a process, a student centered, or writer centered, curriculum falls into place. Rules for
writing fall by the way side as writers work at their own pace to see what works best

The prohibition of any methods of inquiry is not productive when examining an all
encompassing topic such as discourse in culture.
In Susan Miller s historical analysis of Composition and Rhetoric, she explains how
English studies emphasizing the study of great works of literature became the
pedagogy of choice within the academy, and how this choice marginalized the
teaching of writing, rhetoric, to the mere teaching of style. In a traditional version of
textual history, Miller explains, people characterized as authors are almost always
imagined in control of language. Miller argues that in order to maintain their status as
culture makers, the partriarchical power mongers who designed the first writing
programs, defined writers as those who wrote great works of literature. Miller is also
critical of those scholars of rhetoric who continue to lament and/or deny that classical
rhetoric lost its influence over writing instruction during its initial establishment in
America. Although it s theoretically unfortunate that rhetoric lost its status for several
centuries within the pedagogical practices of writing instruction, Miller argues that
classical rhetoric no longer fit with the needs of a democratic society. Its demise was
inevitable.
This historical framework mapped out by Miller fits with Murray s complaint about
English teachers who were taught to regard a student s writing as a product. If a
writer is defined merely as a creator of great
Persuasive Essay On Water Polo
The U.S. Men s National Water Polo Team are the best athletes in the sport.
Although they may not have the most wins, being the best athletes can also be
measured by the amount of effort put in by the players and programs. They are the
best athletes because they persevere, have a great mentality, and they have
numerous medals in many tournaments. First of all, we put in the most effort as a
program. A great example of this is the Olympic Development Program, where
people go through grueling training. The training starts when you are very young,
and they start usually scouting for future Olympians by the age of around 11 14.
Another reason they work really hard is because they are small and weak compared
to many European teams, which forces them to do even more strength training, and
to be faster. Although we prepare kids for our National Team better, many countries
start water polo at an earlier age because it is their country s national sport. This is yet
another reason why the team must work even harder to counteract the greater amount
of experience many countries have. Not only is this team playing what is considered
the hardest sport in the world, but they are doing this against athletes much bigger,
and more experienced than them. Not... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Also, not many fans realize there are other tournaments outside the Olympics, but
there are the Pan American games, FINA World league, cup, and championships,
Darco Cup, and many others. Which the U.S. does really well in almost every
year. Not only on top of the effort, we also have some the best players in water polo
history like Tony Azevedo, Barron Mcquinn, Merrill Moses, Jesse Smith, Alex
Bowen, Luka Capedo, Johnny Hooper, Ben Hallock, and even more. And finally,
they also have one of the best all around teams out there, and they can work hard and

The Issue Of American Patriotism
Nationalism and patriotism is a very touchy subject for some people just due to the
fact of everyone having their own opinion on what it means. Some people just do
not know the difference between the two, or just don t know if there even is a
difference. They are very often commonly confused as the same thing and I can see
why at first glance, but after searching this subject on many credible sources I have
come to find many clarifying and interesting facts on this particular topic.
First of all, the actual definition of American patriotism is the pride and devotion to
one s homeland. As everything does, there are pros and cons to being a patriot. For
example, a pro would be that it leads us to feel proud of and for our county. That ...

Unless your knowledge is of a universal type, equally useful and valued anywhere;
then it makes no difference where you live, as long as you enjoy your life. Another
being specialization; patriotism instinctively guides citizens to discover their natural
and cultural specialties: their own resources, traditions, industries, and identity that
has existed for ages. They will not imitate or copy another country blindly. Loving a
place makes one automatically love, learn, cherish, and improve the special
qualities about it/them. A couple of the others are commitment and security. Most
cons of patriotism fall under the category of centralization being harmful. They
claim that the benefits enjoyed by centralized countries will eventually be shared
by everyone worldwide. They say that it is not a big problem to desert some
countries as long as citizens are happy and successful elsewhere. They also claim
that in over populated countries, or those with high unemployment rates, its better
when people leave. I do not neccesarily agree with all of this but I do think the
majority of the claims made are true.
Nationalism has two definitions that basically mean the same thing but one is more
easily understood. The more complicated version saying that

Rosenberg learned as they help build the company to where it is now. During the

He pointed this ad out and the engineers immediately took care of the problem by
removing it and making a different one. Also during the book, it talked about how
Google and Microsoft were two competitive companies that made the same product
and were competing in the same market. Eric Schmidt writes in his book that the
people with the biggest impacts are the ones who call themselves smart creatives,
these are the people who use the knowledge they already have and put that
creativity factor with it. People do their best work when they have the freedom
and tools to do so and during the book, it is constantly brought up because these
people have the biggest impacts and the best ideas. These people are free to pitch
in ideas that they might have and have a good impact on the company and
consumer. Some lessons that I can take away from this book is to attract inspired
people to your company. Inspired people are the most effective people as they work
hard while using creativity being mixed in with what they do. Another lesson that I
can take away from this book is to make sure everyone s
The Argument of Dualism Essay
In my mind, dualism is a more attractive view to take when considering the mind
brain issue. The idea that the mind is a separate entity and that it is independent of
the physical body is the central point of dualism. One reason it appeals to me is
because of my religion, my Catholic upbringing. Introspection is another good reason
why dualism is a little more logical to me than materialism.. It logically explains why
the mind and brain are separate. Also, the divisibility argument raises good points to
allow dualism to appear to be the more attractive idea in my eyes. Dualism claims that
the mind is a distinct nonphysical thing, a complete entity that is independent of any
physical body to which it is temporarily attached.... Show more content on

Sure the brain has the actual chemical processes and functions, but the mind holds
the reasoning behinds actions, and the complex feelings a person has. It is
basically what makes a person who he is, and controls his actions as a person. The
brain only tells the body to carry out these actions. I think that introspection is
another good explanation for dualism being more attractive to me. Introspection
was explained to be a sort of mental state, like when you know you have a desire for
something to eat. If this occurs, one?s mind will tell his brain to make the body get
up and get food to eat. I do not think that the brain is capable of having that feeling
of hunger, there might be a reaction in the brain to the stomach being empty, but I
believe the actual feeling is in the brain. A person has no way of knowing the actual
brain process, it can not be felt. That is an act that can only take place in one?s mind.
The actual wanting of food is going to be happening in the mind, not the brain. I think
my mind is the focal point of desires and other feelings, the brain is just a device
which the mind uses to carry out its wishes. A third argument for dualism is
paranormal phenomena. Mental powers such as telepathy, precognition, telekinesis,
and clairvoyance are all near impossible to explain within the boundaries of the
physical brain. These phenomena reflect the nonphysical and supernatural nature

Animals Short Term Memory
Animal cognition or comparative cognition s major purpose is to compare the
cognitive processes of different species, including humans. By making such
comparisons, researchers hope to find commonalities in the ways different species
receive, process, store, and use information about their world (Mazur, 2013, p.225).
Animals short term memoryalso known as working memory is different for different
animals based on if they use retrospective coding or prospective coding. For
example in short term memory experiments with pigeons researchers found that
they use prospective coding with is the ability to look forward such as if I hit this key
then this key I will be rewarded with a food pellet according to Mazur (2013). Long

However, there are many ways that animals are able to learn to communicate such
as the experiment by Allen and Beatrice Garner who used American Sign Language
to teach a chimpanzee to sign a couple hundred words including the ability to put
certain combinations according to Mazur (2013). During this experiment the
chimpanzee, Washoe, learned to put word combinations together however, Washoe
was unable to master grammar but the result was still effective in her ability to get
across her needs or wants. David Premack (1971b, 1983) improved this research by
teaching his chimpanzee, Sarah, to use colored magnetic shapes to form sentences.
This started small and simple and gradually they were able to get Sarah to put
together quite complex sentences based on a technique called one to one substitution
according to Mazur (2013). This is accomplished by using the same sentence with
only a one word change from sentence to sentence once this is accomplished they are
able to change another word and so on until Sarah was able to master several
complex sentences including grammar, concepts, and plurals according to Mazur
Essay on Pierre Elliot Trudeau
Pierre Elliot Trudeau:
A Successful Prime Minister
A great Prime Minister should always do what is right for Canada, no matter what
obstacles he or she faces. Looking at the fifteen years he was in power, Pierre Elliot
Trudeau did exactly that. For instance, he implemented the Official Languages Act
and made bilingualism law. In another case, he put an end to the October Crisis by
putting into effect the War Measures Act. Finally, Trudeau amended the Constitution
which gave Canadians a Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Pierre Elliot Trudeau was a
successful Prime Minister who accomplished his goals despite facing enormous
opposition.

As a form of retaliation, the FLQ killed Laporte and his body was later found in the
trunk of a car at the airport in St. Hubert, Quebec. After raiding a hideout of FLQ
members, the police eventually identified the location of James Cross and he was
released unharmed. Despite criticism towards his forceful actions, Trudeau had made
a peaceful end to the October crisis.
As Pierre Elliot Trudeau strived to patriate the Constitution, the opposition was a
huge threat. The Statute of Westminster (1931) and the Second World War (1939
1945) secured Canada s independence. However, Canada continued to retain its
links to Great Britain, since its Constitution could only be modified by the British
Parliament (Roch). Trudeau wanted to put an end to British control by modifying
the Constitution. In the last few weeks of the 1979 election campaign, Trudeau
was struggling and decided it was time to present his plan. As he put it in a Toronto
speech, a Constitution made in Canada, by Canadians, for Canadians (Lewis 16).
The idea was not popular among Canadians and Conservative leader Joe Clark
became the youngest Prime Minister in Canadian history. This did not last very
long though as a vote of non confidence occurred after the government proposed tax
increases. As a result of his government s defeat, Clark called a general election for

Island Of La Grande Jatte Analysis
Various artists use different visual elements to bring out their paintings as an
expression of an idea in the mind that connects with the viewer. The variation in the
components might result in some differences between paintings expressing the same
themes. Elements such as shape, color, and texture are important in the analysis of
art. However, various artists use these differences to create a particular impression.
The variations are responsible for the differences in the size of the artworks, the use
of colors, and the graphic weight of the medium. For instance, oil, charcoal, and
graphite to indicate the altitude in the painting. The comparison and contrast of the

I had my holiday on 29th of December 3rd of January 2017. My destination is
Lombok because there are many beautiful beaches there. I went to Lombok by plane.
I went there with my family. The activities I ve tried there are very fun to do.
At the first day, we stayed in a hotel near Senggigi named Coconut. The resort has a
beautiful views and the building material is all wooden. I love the facilities there,
mainly the Wi Fi and the swimming pool. First, we went to Senggigi Beach. It s
quite beautiful but there are many seaweeds and I don t like it. Then we went to

In brief, I enjoyed Lombok very much. Lombok has many destinations to visit, and
adventures to do. I especially love the beaches. They are many beautiful beaches like
Kuta, Senggigi, Nipah, and others. The activities are also fun like the fabric weaving,
snorkeling, and other sea activities. But i hate snorkelling to the deep water because I
m afraid of getting bitten by the fish.
My suggestions for you who love sea activities, you should try snorkeling in Gili
Trawangan, Gili Meno, and Gili Air. Because they are many beautiful fish and
coral reefs, other fun activities like giving food to the fish and visited many fish

For the cultural activities, you should visit the Clay Factory. You will see the
beautiful clay there and you will learn how to make the clay. Also, you should visit

Double Indemnity In The Film Noir Movie
Film noir is a classic film style. Noir style films often use suspense, seduction, and
drama to highlight a cynical viewpoint of life. Double Indemnity uses all of these
key points to create a true noir classic. Billy Wilder s direction of the film helped to
cement this film as a classic of black and white films. Wilder s decision and
storyline stayed true, for the most part, to the original source novel, while also
adding and improving key details. Fred MacMurrays and Barbara Stanwyck s acting
choices and on screen chemistry help to add depth to the storyline without
overshadowing each other. Along with the main actors, the background and minor

Sunny days were filled with tropical weather adventures and blissful curiosity that
was satisfied through exploration. As a child growing up in Haiti, there were plenty
of chances to interact within a diverse culture and these experiences in my early
years, helped to mold and shape my optimistic outlook on the future. Growing up in
a disadvantaged community where tough times exist, it would be easy to become
discouraged, but with a closer look I soon realized that tougher people exist there
too. The caring heart and resilient characteristic that I exude serve as testament to the
values that came out of my early life experiences. I intend to use these qualities to

Being an osteopathic physician means that I would use the skill that were thought
to me in medical school in order to influence the body natural healing process. The
most recent medical trip sponsored by the Heart in Hand organization was a
scheduled three weeks in Haiti, in which we provide basic medical care and
education to the underserved communities of Cotes de Fer and Petit Goave. The
experience was eye opening in the sense that it helps me understand some of the
logistics that are required to render a minimal level of care. That experience is
different from working as a medic in the military, because we have not just provided
care, but were involved with the local population daily routine. This gives us insight
on how we could properly educate the locals on the importance of hygiene and
disease prevention. As a medic for the U.S Air Force, our patient trends were
somewhat predictable and the supplies were to the very least adequate. During the
trips in Haiti, there were plenty of patients, but limited amount of
Social Inequities And Its Effects On Society
Social Inequities are one of the most faced problems that people are around the world
experience, yet they are thrown aside when these issues have more concerns than
what meets the eye. Currently in the world, there is a manifold of inequities, such as
the very popular ones that continue to expand, such as racism, feminism, and
bullying. Although over the years not much improvement has been made to put an
end on these issues, authors have been informing teens, especially in their writing,
making them aware about the current events. Throughout literature, many people s
eyes have been opened and now more people are aware of the issues and are now
starting to do something about it. To conclude, social inequities are growing

In comparison to men, women are not making nearly as much money as men. Over
time not much improvement had been made in women s income, and they still made
a significant, lesser, amount of money. Aside from that, females are also segregated
from males in multiple categories with downgrading outcomes for the development
of their choices and capabilities. To summarize, it is clear that feminism is a
noteworthy issue that hasn t been addressed formally enough. To add on, racism is
also a very common inequity. People are segregated and looked at differently for their
skin color, resulting in different treatment towards individuals. This treatment, was
cruel and unusual, such as slavery, and abuse towards people. Although these actions
were not necessary whatsoever, the treatment continued on for years to come,
worsening as time went on. After the civil rights movement, the tension decreased,
however to this day, racism still occurs throughout the world. All in all, racism is a
still occurring situation that may have died down slightly, but still has not come to an
end. Nowadays, everything revolves around money. Money distinguishes the wealthy
from the less fortunate and because of this, financial inequality is a growing concern.

Face Construct And Criterion-Related Validity Essay
There are differences among face, construct, and criterion related validity. Face
validity assesses a task under evaluation. A group of subjective experts evaluate
face validity (Maribo, Pedersen, Jensen, Nielsen, 2016). Face validity can be
utilized to motivate stakeholders within an organization. If stakeholders are not
supportive of the results from face validity they will become disengaged. For
example, when measuring the level of professionalism during the hiring process
questions should relate to different levels of professionalism. If not stakeholders
will not be motivated to give their opinion and the true assessment of the hiring
process will not be achieved. Face validity considers the relevance of a test as it

367, 2012). This particular validity is important when it comes to legal defensibility.
Construct validity explains how what is being studied matches the actual measure.
Criterion validity answers the question of whether a test reflects a certain set of
abilities. One way to assess criterion validity is to compare it to a known standard. A
reference is needed to determine an instrument s criterion related validity. Criterion
related validity predicts the future. If a nursing program designed a measure to assess
student learning throughout the program, a test such as the NCLEX would measure
student s ability in this discipline. If the instrument produces the same result as the
superior test the instrument has a high criterion related validity. The higher the
results the more faith stakeholders will have in the assessment tool. A criterion
related validity study is conducted by statistically correlating scores with some
measure of job performance (Biddle, p.308, 2010). Criterion related validity is most
important when it comes to predicting performance in a specific job, and predicting

Snowboarding Jackets Essay
Snowboarding jackets are an essential piece of gear that should keep the rider warm,
comfortable and protected from the harsh cold when riding on the slopes. The jackets
are designed with many features and take into account different atmosphere
conditions, along with the requirements of the sport itself. When purchasing a jacket
the rider needs to look at the two types of jackets, the Three Layer System, the
features of the jacket, and a few different technological fabrics. All of these aspects
are important when searching for the perfect snowboarding jacket. The first step in
purchasing a snowboarding jacket is determining what kind. There are two types,
cold weather jackets and warm weather jackets. Whether a rider is shredding... Show

There are three functions for this layer, which include waterproof, windproof, and
breathability. To be considered waterproof, a piece of clothing has to bear a water
column of 4 to 5 ft (1). Snowboarding jackets must also have taped seams, prevent
water penetration, and covered zippers. The next function in the system is
windproof. The windproof of a jacket is very important. Not only can the lack of
this make the rider uncomfortable, but it can also affect the breathability quality
of the outer layer. The breathability quality allows riders to ventilate their body
through the fabric on the jacket and pushes perspiration away. While the Three
Layer System is important and needed in every jacket, so are the features that a
snowboarding jacket can acquire. Features in snowboarding jackets can be a very
handy necessity with some snowboarders, but may not be to others depending on
skill level. Some of these features include; powder skirts, wrist gaiters, venting zips,
hoods, shells, pockets, and taped seams. Of all features, the powder skirt is the
most useful. This feature prevents snow from coming up into the jacket if a
wipeout occurs. Similar to the powder skirt are wrist gaiters, which prevent snow
from going up the sleeves or into the rider s gloves. Venting zips located under the
armpit are definitely a necessity in a snowboarding jacket for those warmer days on
the slopes. The vents are constructed
Queen Elizabeth I As Unworthy Of The Throne
Queen Elizabeth I was underestimated by many and was seen as unworthy of the
throne. Queen Elizabeth I had a successful reign full of victories and power and
was able to make sixteenth century England a thriving nation. The middle and
upper class were living comfortably and England s tin, coal, and led industries were
taking off (Lambert, par. 1). The reign of Queen Elizabeth I was strong and
powerful (Boatner, par. 7). She not only kept the nation strong but united as one. As
triumphant as her life may seem, she did deal with a difficult childhood and an
almost inexistent love life. Her lack of romantic relationships is why she is now
known as England s virgin queen, she died having never gotten married and without
any children (Brimacombe 28). Queen Elizabeth I had a huge ascendency on the
prosperity of England throughout her whole life: her childhood, adulthood and her
golden years. This essay will discuss the hardships, triumphs and the influence that
Queen Elizabeth I had during her time on the throne within the different stages of her
life: her childhood, adulthood and her golden years. The Renaissance, as defined by

His laboratory tests showed an abnormal coagulation profile, which is perhaps
attributed to his daily medication regime. Prothrombin time(PT) was significantly

The tests also revealed a lower than normal haematocrit, that being a direct result of
prolonged bleeding. Also, his stool sample was tested positive for blood.
Homeostasis of Hemostasis
Blood coagulation is the process whereby a blood clot (thrombus) is formed. The
formation of a thrombus represents the second stage of hemostasis, following
vasoconstriction and platelet aggregation at the site of injury. The clotting process is
very complex and its role is to maintain vascular integrity and to induce rapid clot
formation after a vascular injury. It is vital to be able to regulate the production of
thrombin, in order to prevent thrombosis, as well as maintaining normal blood
circulation.
As shown by figure 1, the coagulation cascade is a protein based system which is
initiated through the activation of two separate pathways designated extrinsic and
intrinsic. These two pathways proceed through the common pathway of coagulation
until fibrin is formed. The extrinsic pathway is generally the first pathway to be
activated, and it is stimulated by tissue factor thromboplastin coming into direct
contact with factor VII. Factor VII is

The Marketing Of Coca Cola
Over the years Coca Cola has produced thousands of advertisements, appealing to
the different senses. Along with trying to maintain a broad enough audience, to
become the number one soda producer in the world. Starting with the vintage
advertisment from 1886, when prohibition laws were being to be passed. This
advertisement was placed near drink fountains, and convenience stores where coca
cola was sold in bottles. The second advertisement was published in May 2015,
currently circulating inside of the Netherlands. Both of the advertisements attempt
to appeal to everyone and anyone, who are in search of personal happiness.
Regardless of the century gap, Coca cola claims to be the drink that produces
happiness and relief from the ecosocial problems experienced throughout everyday
life. Inside of the vintage Coca cola advertisement, is a section of imperialistic

additional imperialistic flare details. Centered in the advertisement is a direct

Identity Of The American Identity
The American culture is made up of bits and pieces combined into one American
Identity. Throughout the process of finding this identity, came with courage,
religion, and fear. These three concepts provide compelling examples and
experiences that have shaped Americans into the best country there is. Having
courage in life is often half the battle. John Smith encounters so many hardships
that prove he dares to keep pursuing his goal. Eventually, after defeating and
beheading a succession of three Turkish officers in single combat in Rumania,
Smith was wounded in battle, taken as a prisoner and sold into slavery to a Turk.
Smith was passed from place to place until held prisoner on the Black Sea, he
murdered his master and fled back to Rumania via Russia and Poland, returning to
England in the winter of 1604 05. (Smith, pp. 82). Most people at this point would
typically become slightly discouraged because he has gotten beaten up and is
questioning if he can accomplish this or fail. The lesson we should take from Smith
in this story is that no matter how hard things get if you have a goal achieve it. There
will defiantly be hardships that come your way, but nothing in this life comes easy.
For example, the British encounter many hardships such as hunger, sickness, and
unfamiliarity. Being thrown into adapting to new situations is often hard. The natives

the bloodiest wars the world had ever seen, with the Republicans battling the

These volunteers constituted the International Brigades and represented 53 different

The Effects Of High Compliance Rate On Municipal City

Research Design and Methodology
4.1Introduction
The purpose of this study is to find out what are the causes of the high compliance
rate in property taxes in the municipal city of Portmore, Jamaica. Taxes are of
essential importance to small developing countries as they do not have much needed
resources. As further developments takes place in the municipal city property values
will increase, hence the amount of property tax collected by the Portmore municipal
council will also increase. This increase however, is not a guarantee that the tax
collection will be sufficient in the maintenance of the community due to the rising
cost of goods and services. Hence continuous voluntary compliance is essential and
important as it most efficient for both the tax payer and the tax authorities.
This section gives the hypothesis or research perspectives, the design of the research
and the methods that were used to gather the data.
4.2 Hypotheses/ Research Perspectives
My research perspective on the Municipal City of Portmore attaining the highest
compliance rate property tax collections in Jamaica are:
That the tax payers have recognised the need and importance of property tax to the
community.
The taxpayers are knowledgeable about property tax and the consequences if not paid.
The local authorities are ensuring that the community is well maintained by
effectively and efficiently using the tax collecting in providing services such as
timely collection of garbage, maintaining and
Labour Party in Britain in the Years 1924-31
Labour Party in Britain in the Years 1924 31
Historians have debated just how competent the two Labour administrations were
between 1924 and 1931. Governments are normally only considered competent if
they have managed the economy efficiently, prevented widespread corruption and
maintained law and order. Labour came to power at the end of 1923, a time when
the Conservatives and other right wing groups were spreading vicious rumours about
Socialism. MacDonald was determined to disprove these fears, particularly Churchill
s jibe that a Labour Party would not be fit to govern . Since the Prime Minister is an
integral part of a government, it will also be important to look at the competency of ...

Other historians have stressed Labour s poor industrial relations during their first
term in office, claiming that this indicates a degree of governmental incompetence.
MacDonald was determined that the Labour Party would be representative of the
nation as a whole, and not merely a political wing of the TUC. Therefore,
MacDonald did not want to be seen as giving in to strikers or other industrial activists.
In February 1924 there was a national dock strike for higher wages which ended in
success for the workers, but MacDonald had been planning to use troops to unload
ships had it continued. The following month he proclaimed a state of emergency
during a London tram and bus strike. Some historians have argued that the fact that
MacDonald was determined to stand up against the TUC and strikers suggests that his
party was competent at running the country, since it was not simply pandering to the
industrial movement. But others claim that MacDonald was unable to deal with the
strikes sufficiently, making his government look weak and incompetent.
Some historians have argued that the cabinet of the first Labour government was
chosen poorly, with many of the ministers knowing little or nothing about their
departments. For example, J.H Thomas, the former railwaymen s leader, became
Colonial Secretary despite knowing

were thousands of kilometers apart they were directly connected to each other. To
some extent, the Americans declared war in protest against measures that were part

The Twelve Congress, which received Madison s war message proved to be
dominated by a group of young men known as the War Hawks .(5) These men were
chiefly from the west and south who resented the injuries inflicted on the United
States by Great Britain during the War for Independence, and were seeking
retribution.(6) Like many other Americans, they believed the manifest destiny of the
United States was to control all of British North America.
This American dream of major conquest of North America was made clear in a
speech given by Congressman Richard Johnston of Kentucky I shall never die
contented until I see her [Britain] expulsion from North America, and her territories

Logically this war was a serious threat to Canada, since it was only in North America

Prevention of Relapse Following Clostridium difficile Infection
Using Probiotic Lactobacillus casei Shirota This article, which was submitted for
review in 2013, was written by Lennard YW Lee, Ramez Golmohamad, and George
MacFaul of the Department of Gastroenterology, Milton Keynes NHS Foundation
Trust, Standing Way, Milton Keynes MK65LD, United Kingdom. The paper was
accepted for publication August 25, 2013. Clostridium difficile (C. difficile) is an
anaerobic, Gram positive, bacillus shaped bacterium that causes the disease
Clostridium Difficile Infection (CDI). One of the reasons this particular species is
so successful and disease causing is because it possesses the ability to form spores,
which makes it very difficult to eradicate, as these spores are able to survive
extreme conditions. C. difficile flourishes in the gastrointestinal tracts of individuals
who have been prescribed broad spectrum antibiotics, as these tend to disrupt the
normal microbiota. If an individual has previously contracted CDI, the likelihood of
future infection(s) is more likely than if it were never contracted, at a rate of ~35%.
The aim of this study, which is actually the first of its kind, is to utilize the probiotic
Lactobacillus casei Shirota (L. casei Shirota) to attempt to suppress the recurrence of
CDI after an initial infection. Probiotics contain a live strain(s) of healthy bacteria
that help rather than harm an individual, and they work by competing with C.

Central Station Film Analysis
Central Station Film Analysis
In the film Central Station (Central do Brasil), Walter Salles presents the characters
as on a journey to self discovery. It is a film about identity. Central Station is a
melodrama of transformation based on an anomalous duo comprising of Dora, a
jaded retired schoolteacher, and JosuГ©, a nine year old boy, who embark on a cross
country journey in search of the boy s father upon the unfortunate death of his
mother. The film presents its analysts with many possible interpretations and
significations due to its combination of different themes, visual allusions and
narrative elements. Central do Brasil film can be interpreted in three ways: as an
extended metaphor on the writing process and a narration of personal stories and
experiences, as a figurative journey of Brazilian search for its identity depicted in
Dora s transformation and JosuГ© s quest for his roots, and as a theological allegory
inviting a theological reading of humans struggling to maintain a relationship to an
absent God (Bowman 1). Through a detailed analysis film s content, production, and
reception, this paper interprets Central do Brasil as an allegory representing the
pursuit for identity and transformation.

acronym for Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats. It can be used to
assess the current and future situation of the product, brand, company, proposal or
decision. A SWOT Analysis considers both internal factors (the strengths and
weaknesses) and external factors (the opportunities and threats) that are relevant to
the issue or problem under investigation 5. Outline three advantages and two
disadvantages of using a SWOT analysis.
Advantages of SWOT: * Completing a SWOT Analysis can be quite simple and
quick * It can be used for a wide range of decisions, such as how to react to the
threat of a competitor entering the market * SWOT Analysis helps to determine the
organisation s position in the marketplace and therefore aids the formulation of
corporate strategy for its long term survival * The SWOT framework encourages
foresight and proactive thinking, rather than relying on emotional or intuitive feelings
* It can help to reduce the risks of decision making by demanding objective and
logical thinking
Limitations of SWOT: * Critics of SWOT Analysis argue that it is too simplistic and
does not demand detailed
Globalization Of Mcdonaldization
McDonalds is a fast food company that was founded in the 1940 s. In McDonalds
short existence it has revolutionized not only the fast food industry, but the way in
which business is conducted world wide. What the McDonald brothers and then
Ray Kroc set out to accomplish was a business model that standardized all aspects
of operation, in order to make expansion effortless. So great their power of growth
that McDonalds now has over 31 thousand stores in over 118 countries. So iconic
that the average US school child can recognize Ronald McDonald. Ritzer describes
McDonaldization as ...the process by which the principles of the fast foodrestaurant
are coming to dominate more and more sectors of American society as well as of
the rest of the world (Ritzer, 1993:1). This penetration by the ideal of
McDonaldization can be seen in our school system. School systems are moving
towards producing graduates, as apposed to imparting knowledge. Currently in the
US we have over 13,000 McDonalds, and according to Ritzer the US only contains
half of the worlds McDonalds (Ritzer, 2013:287). These figures show that globally
we are moving towards producing for consumers, standardized products. McDonald s
has become a company that incorporated economics, psychology and sociology in its
business plan to dominate the world of fast food. One in which many other
enterprises try to emulate. American culture has gained from the advent of
McDonaldization . We have gained access to a larger supply of goods at competitive
cost. We have gained safety from increased standardization. However, the American
culture has suffered negatives from McDonaldization . The process of
Mcdonaldization extracts all that is unique about the different cultures of the world,
and creates a homogenized world with the sole goal of creating a consumer society.
In this paper what the world has lost through Mcdonaldization in contrast to what it
has gained will be discussed. Also the dangers of creating a consumer society.
Negatives to McDonaldization While eating at McDonalds it may feel as if we are
surrounded with countless choices, but in fact through the process of
McDonaldization many of these choices are made for us. McDonalds in effort to
The Sharecropping System
The main purpose of Reconstruction was to unite the sates to the union and restore
the south. The Federal Government wanted to put in order all the problems that
were caused by the Civil War. (Schultz,275) Backed up by facts, in my opinion, I
believe Reconstruction was a failure. To begin, the Sharecropping System was just a
legal form of slavery. (Schultz,284) Freed blacks were once again tied to land owned
by white employers. Land owners shortened blacks freedom by keeping them from
owning land.(Schultz,284) Knowing they did not have money, their employers
provided farming equipment, housing, and food. (Schultz,284) This meant that the
land owners would gain a larger share for providing them the necessities.(Schultz,284)

Women s Influence On Women
Women are most likely to be discriminated for their gender and are made less than
man in any type of activity in society. The men usually tries to make the women feel
bad about their gender by telling them that they are not worth anything but in reality
if a women decides to she can overcome all the obstacles even better than a men.
Women are also different than men in the way they interact with each other
(physically and socially). According to the author In public places, men touch women
more often than women touch men. Men also touch women in more places on the
body than women touch men (Andersen, 2015, pg.3). In our society the women s
reputation is always questioned or put to risk when performing any type of action. In
many cultures... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first thing females would do is criticize my outfit, especially if that female is with
her friends. I can even predict their judgements especially if I am wearing a
provocative outfit Look at her she looks promiscuous or She looks overweight.
The first thing females do is criticize at other females because of her physical
aspect. Media also plays a role because as a society we tend to adopt the idea that
the only top models are perfect and that anyone else can t have the top model s
appearance. According to the author Images of women s beauty and implicit ratings
of their bodies are rampant throughout the culture (Andersen, 2015, p. 55). On the
contrary, the male s reaction towards my physical appearance is usually directed to
sexual reactions. For example, if a male observes that I am wearing a provocative
outfit he would think she wants a sexual relationship, but the female is wearing a
conservative outfit he would then turn at the female s actions. Therefore if the female
smiles, the male feels that she desperately wants him and this will encourage the male
to establish communication with the female. Our cultural system have gave men the
power of being the dominant gender. Furthermore our society has permitted than
males than women are property of males. Males believe that females go to bars to
encounter a sexual relation. According to the author Music videos, video games,
crime shows, even popular entertainment magazines such as
1 Year Old Research Paper
So the first year has passed, and this was probably the hardest year, trying to learn
all the ins and outs of parenting. Now that you are starting to get the hang of things
and maybe even sleeping more, which we can all agree is fantastic but perhaps the
little one still isn t sleeping right. And let s face it, no one sleeps through the whole
night, I woke up three times last night. So it s no doubt your 1 year old can t get
through the entire night without waking. There will always be sleep issues with
every new stage of growth, and the key is to try and minimize these problems.
Leaving you and your family members happy, and sounds asleep. I spoke with

The Epic Of Alexander Pope s The Rape Of The Lock
Mock epic is a narrative poem which aims at mockery and laughter by using almost
all the characteristic features of an epic but for a trivial subject. Alexander Pope s
The Rape of the Lock is a famous mock epic. In it, there is invocation to Muses,
proposition of subject, battles, supernatural machinery, journey on water, underworld
journey, long speeches, feasts (coffee house), Homeric similes and grand style but all
for a simple family dispute instead of a national struggle. The grand treatment of a
low subject produces hilarious laughter and makes the story more ridiculous.
Firstly, Paradise Lost is a long epic poem by John Milton begins with the proposition
of justification of God s way to man with nice invocation to the Muses. And another
epic poem titled The Faerie Queene by Edmund Spenser follows the same manner.
The subject matters in both of the epic poems are grand. Like the epic poems, the
poem The Rape of the Lock opens with the proposition of the subject matter and
Pope s invocation to the Muses to help him compose the literary art. Such a grand
treatment of a trivial subject matter like the clipping of the lock of Belinda provokes
laughter when the poet says:
I sing this verse to Caryll, Muse! Is due:
This, ev n Belinda may vouchsafe to view: Secondly, in The Iliad , Homer
describes in considerable detail the armor and weaponry of the great Achilles, as
well as the battlefield trappings of other heroes. In the poem The Rape of the Lock

Essay On COPD
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) Chronic obstructive pulmonary
disease (COPD) is a chronic lung disease that causes obstructed airflow from the
lungs. Symptoms of COPD patients are shortness of breath (SOB) that causes
limiting of the patient s activities and lack of energy, hard cough, massive sputum
production, blue lips and fingernails (cyanosis), losing weight, fatigue, swelling in
feet (edema), and wheezing. COPD is a disease caused by a long history of
smoking cigarettes. COPD patients are more at risk for diseases such as heart
disease, lung cancer, and other conditions and diseases. The two most common
diseases related to COPD are emphysema and chronic bronchitis. Tobacco smoking
is the main cause of COPD in developed countries because people are close to
chemical fumes, dust, and smoke from fuel in poorly ventilated homes. Many... Show

There are many different ways to diagnosis COPD such as pulmonary function tests,
chest X rays, CT scans, arterial blood gas analysis to measure the level of oxygen in
the blood, laboratory tests, and spirometry. After COPD is diagnosed, there are
different ways to apply the treatment for the patients with COPD. The most important
step in treatment is that the patient has to stop smoking. The doctor s orders require
the patient to take bronchodilators that disperse the appropriate medication that
relaxes the muscle that control the airway. Surgery is an option for some people with
severe emphysema who are not helped by the other ways of treatment. Surgical
options include lung volume reduction surgery, lung transplant, and bullectomy. In
addition to the varieties of treatment, there is oxygen therapy (The Mayo Clinic,
2017). According to PubMed health states that sixteen million Americans have been
diagnosed with COPD and 14 million have chronic bronchitis. 2 million people have
emphysema. An example of a patient with COPD is a 65 year old man admitted to the

I obtained this initiate assistant, Gary was his name. Always wearing those hideous
pair of oval glasses and his yellow sweater. Every day I had to listen to him ramble
about his pathetic life while we prepared our projects. I personally despised him, yet
I couldn t be open with that opinion. And then something inconceivable happened,
one day Gary stopped talking to me no, he was avoiding me. The talkative Gary, the
overly friendly Gary, was eluding me. At first, believed it was a good thing, that he
finally realised himself how infuriating he is. But then I had a thought, an insight.
He may have realised what I have been doing in secret. I couldn t allow him to
meddle into my peaceful life, he needs to die. I quickly took action and set an
alarm in the dead of the night when I usually perform my private experimentations.
As usual, I brought out the subjects for the daily tests. A piercing noise struck
through the corridors, echoing towards my room. Gary was here. I stood up
eagerly and gripped my bone saw, dashing outside. The sounds of panting and
footsteps rang loud, accompanied by the sharp stings coming from the sensor alarm.
Surrounded by the high, soundproof walls stretching across the room, Gary barked
a question towards me with the face of grimace, Bastard...how many people have
you killed for your experiments?! . As I flicked off the blood on the bone saw
towards the ground. I
The And Caste Discrimination By Kancha Ilaiah s Why I
Am...
All religious communities in India are afflicted by an unfortunate evil tendency of
exclusion. A sad trend of hatred has emerged in the battle against casteism and caste
based discrimination. Kancha Ilaiah s Why I am not a Hindu (the non fictional
bestseller of 1996) has been constructed as an expression of the voice of post
Independence Dalitbahujan consciousness, which was an integral part of their socio
political movement. Born in a small South Indian Telangana village in the 1950s, his
is the voice of the harassed subaltern, which exposes rampant cultural contradictions
and practices. He talks about the marginalized and victimized identity, where they
were not only neither included nor respected, but also looked down upon and
repelled. The battle against disturbing dehumanizing social evils is manifested in the
emergence of disparate groups having one thing in common deep hatred for Hindus.
He implores the upper stratas to read and understand what the Other (here, an un
Hindu Indian) has to say, for, he believes that those who refuse to listen to new
questions and learn new answers will perish and not prosper. The voice of the
alienated existence of the subalterns on every level of experience makes us question
certain trends of action and thoughts inscribed in our subconscious and evident in our
consciousness. Though the book brims with undisguised and unidirectional attacks
and opinions, which the readers might find appallingly biased, yet his voice deserves

Homosexuals In Australian Film
Since the beginning of the Australian film industry Homosexuals have had a certain
depiction made of them. One of the first ever Australian films to include the idea of
homosexuality is The Set which was released in 1970 (Davidson, 2016). This movie
assisted in the set up the stereotype of gays in the Australian film industry. Although,
Since the 70 s the representation of the minority group of homosexuals has changed
drastically in the 21st century.
Homosexuals in Australian film are usually made fun of and or are bullied by other
the characters. They are often called a range of inappropriate names from Poofters
to Faggots and Gaylords in attempts to offend them. Homosexuals are alienated in
Australian Film, being treated like a disease that nobody wanted to deal with. In
fact, at the beginning of Australian film once a character was in any way associated
with a gay character, they also were alienated from the rest of the group. This can
be seen in the well know Australian film Priscilla Queen Of The Desert where one
of the character stood up for a gay character and his so called mates turned on him as
well (IMBD).
In the world famous Australian film Crocodile Dundee the main character Mike
Dundee comes into contact with a Gay Man dressed a a woman and proceeds to
grab his crotch and yell out That s a man dressed as a woman in confusion ... Show

In almost all of the past Australian films only Gay men can be seen in film never
really gay women. One of the few Australian films that includes the gay women
community is The Getting of Wisdom made in 1978 which is a coming of age story
of a teenage girl (Buckmaster, 2016). This sparks the idea that perhaps gay women
were not included as much in Australian film as they (Filmakers) found it difficult to
make fun of them as men dressed as women proved to be a more cause for
amusement in Australian
Career Assessments Paper
Career Assessments I selected career assessments because an employment or career
change can happen to any client at any point during their lives. Drummond, Sheperis,
Jones (2015) state that individuals may benefit from vocational tests after high
school, after college, or during a career change. Additionally, Drummond, Sheperis,
Jones (2015) state that some advantages of careerassessments are helping a client
discover new occupational interests that match their personality, as well as
measuring their skillsets for varying occupations. There are several approaches to
career assessments that include interest, beliefs, and capability types of inventories.
Interest inventories have been available as early as 1914 and have continued to
evolve over the decades (Harrington Long, 2013). Currently, The U.S. Department of
Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics (2013) has a section on their website allocated for

It is appropriate for those over the age of fourteen, and focuses on the client s
interests with a vast amount of occupations, and includes recreational activities as
well (Drummond, Sheperis, Jones, 2015).The Strong Interest Inventory provides the
client with their three highest general occupational themes, out of a possible of six,
lists the top five highest and lowest areas of career interest (Drummond, Sheperis,
Jones, 2015).Furthermore, it provides the client with top vocations along with their
personal styles such as leadership or type of work environment (Drummond,
Sheperis, Jones, 2015). I like this career assessment, because it is a good starting
point with a client. Once I have the highest vocational choices, it would be easier to
be able to provide direction to a client and to provide them with more information on
some of the occupations they have the most interest
Why I Am A Doctor
Ever since I was ten, I knew what I wanted to grow up to become, a doctor. Eight
years later, and I still have not completely decide on what type of physician I want
to be. This is because every career in the medical field interests me. However, when
I decided on this career field, I knew one thing for sure. I knew it entailed several
different science courses. I was happy with this because I always loved science.
What I did not realize was the fact that it also meant I would have to take two
semesters of English after high school. I never had as much interest in English as I
did for most other subjects. Therefore, due to my lack of interest, English was
always an area where I struggled. That is the reason, when I signed up for classes for
my first semester at Wayne State University, I was hesitant to sign up for English
1020. Even though I was hesitant, I knew this was a course I had to take. I
promised myself that I would take this class, and I would put in much more effort
than I had previously. This effort was mainly enforced because of the extremely high
standards that medical schools hold their applicants to (the average GPA to get into
the Wayne State Medical School is 3.75). Since the beginning of this class, I have
improved in each of the writing outcomes, which include reading, writing,
researching, and reflecting, due to the effort I have put into excelling in this class.
The first, and the most basic, learningoutcome that was focused upon in class is
reading.

Blanche has been released from her asylum along with her new best friends, Elizabeth and Susan. The women are dressed in black dresses with red hooded cloaks as they arrive at the Kowalski household. Stella is putting her son to bed for a nap when Blanche and her friends arrive. [Stella quietly closes a bedroom door off stage. Footsteps can be heard moving around. Off stage Stella opens another door.] [Off stage] Blance: [Smiling menacingly] Hello dear sister. These are my friends Elizabeth and Susan. Stella: Come inside. [The door is heard slam and Stella comes downstairs with a groggy child] Stella: Who was that? [She sets the girl on her lap in the chair she was previously sitting in] [Susan and Elizabeth shrug] Blanche: [Leaning toward the girl] So what is your name? Stella: [Looking down at the girl with a smile] Her name is Soulage. [The front door is heard being opened. Stanley and Mitch walk in.] Stanley: [shocked] [To Blanche] What are you doing here? And who are they? Blanche: Let us welcome the guest of honor. [Taking Stanley s hand she sits him down out the couch with much force] [Mitch steps toward Blanche warningly] Susan: [Stepping towards Mitch] I wouldn t if I were you. Stanley: Who let you out? How d you get her? [Blanche chuckes while Stella grows nervous, holding onto her daughter s hand. Mitch sits timidly on the couch opposite of

The Dual Writing Style In Gillian Flynn s Gone Girl Nick and Amy moved from New York City, where both were laid off from their previous jobs as writers, to Nick s hometown of North Carthage, Missouri to care for Nick s cancer stricken mother and his father with alzheimer s. The two have a quite imperfect marriage that is at times profoundly one sided, but is disrupted when Amy goes missing. A search Amy quickly ensues, and as the investigation progresses, the truth about Amy and Nick s not so wonderful marriagecomes out for all to see. In this journal I will be predicting the possibility of Nick s involvement in the case, questioning why the detectives won t rule Nick out as a possible suspect, and evaluating the dual perspectivewriting style in Gone Girl. Nick continues to portray Amy s disappearance ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Along with the rotating viewpoints, the two stories being told, by Amy and Nick, happen at different times through the collective story. I usually dislike this writing method, but in this plot, I think it works well. I like that the two do not tell the same story from different perspectives but rather one tells the story and the other follows with a background perspective that gives some insight as to the reasoning behind the actions and motives of the characters in the present. In the case of this book, Nick is narrating the investigation of Amy s disappearance as chapters of Amy s diary chronicle the past relationship between the two counterparts. The two perspectives complement each other, but neither spoil the storyline, as dual perspective books tend to do. For example, Amy often gives us accounts from Nick and Amy s early relationship. Her discoveries from the dawn of their romance shows how the opposite family structures of the two partners change how act in the present of their relationship: People say children from broken homes have it hard, but the children of charmed marriages have their own particular challenges (Flynn 27). The two narrators of the story give a deep understanding of the motives and actions without giving too many details that might spoil the future of the

Nowadays we celebrate women s day but there are many situations we had come through to this position and space Punjabi women occupy nowadays, and comparing it to the times 60 years ago. The age of my grandmother. When the country had just got independence. When the women are participating in nationalist movements were being pushed into the domestic household works. There have been innumerable debates about gender in (Banerjee 2012) Punjab over last 60 years. Most of them were about women s positions in society, their education, health, economic status, gender equality. What we can conclude from these discussions is that how women have always held a certain contradictory position in our developing country in past years. In recent years women held a very less respectful position . they were not treated as human. On other hand, Punjab has an increased percentage of literacy among women . now women are allowed to enter into professional fields now. However, in the 1950s my grandmother tells women were just made to do household chores. They were not allowed to get higher education or even go out without the permission of parents. They were supposed to be at home . while on the other hand the practices of female foeticide, poor health conditions and lack of education persisting still continue. Even the supportive ideology of the home being women s real domain and marriage being her ultimate destiny has not changed much in last 60 years. When our

  • 7. Cleopatra Research Paper Cleopatra: The life and legend When the name Cleopatra is uttered in the west it is most likely to be greeted with recognition. In western cultures this last Queen of Egypt is a popular subject for stories. A tale told in many ways, Cleopatra s story has been told in literature, plays, and movies. She is even a popular subject in art. Her s is a story about an exotic woman who used sex and cunning to get what she wanted. It is a story about murder, seduction, and manipulation. It is the classic tale written as a warning about all women with power. It was a story told by her enemies after her death. Cleopatra was not a simple seductress, she was an intelligent and at times ruthless woman, she was one of the great rulers of Egypt. She was Greek,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She was a descendant of the greek Ptolemy I who was a friend of Alexander the Great, who had conquered Egypt a few centuries before her time, and was a general in Alexander s army (Hawass 2010:16). Upon the death of Alexander the Great Ptolemy I took control of Egypt and started the Ptolemaic dynasty (Hawass 2010:16). Cleopatra VII, was born in 69 B.C.; she was the second daughter and child of Ptolemy XII, who had five legitimate children in all (Roller 2010:3). During the first few years of Cleopatra VII s life marked a fairly quiet time in the reign of her father; but during this time he gave an extensive amount of money to Roman leaders as a payment for their support of his leadership and help in controlling the Egyptian people (Roller 2010:18 21). Ptolemy XII began taking loans from a Roman banker to help support this habit, and imposed heavy taxes on his people which caused a revolt and strike of farmers. Despite all this influx of revenue Ptolemy continued to spend exorbitant amounts on both gifts for Roman leaders and for his own lavish tastes, feeding his debts to Rome (Roller and Roller 2010:21). Due to the unrest of the now starving people in Egypt of that time, and the fact that Ptolemy XII let his brother Ptolemy of Cyprus fall, watching silently as Cyprus became a Roman territory, there was an uprising in 58 B.C. (Roller 2010:22). So Ptolemy XII escaped Egypt and the revolt of his people by fleeing
  • 8. The Composition and Rhetoric Field Essay Composition and Rhetoric (a.k.a. Writing Studies): A Flexible Field In his essay, Teach Writing as a Process not a Product, Donald Murray outlines the major difference between the traditional pedagogy that directed the teaching of writing in the past and his newly hailed model. Traditionally, Murray explains, English teachers were taught to teach and evaluate students writing as if it was a finished product of literature when, as he has discovered, students learn better if they re taught that writing is a process. For Murray, once teachers regard writing as a process, a student centered, or writer centered, curriculum falls into place. Rules for writing fall by the way side as writers work at their own pace to see what works best for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The prohibition of any methods of inquiry is not productive when examining an all encompassing topic such as discourse in culture. In Susan Miller s historical analysis of Composition and Rhetoric, she explains how English studies emphasizing the study of great works of literature became the pedagogy of choice within the academy, and how this choice marginalized the teaching of writing, rhetoric, to the mere teaching of style. In a traditional version of textual history, Miller explains, people characterized as authors are almost always imagined in control of language. Miller argues that in order to maintain their status as culture makers, the partriarchical power mongers who designed the first writing programs, defined writers as those who wrote great works of literature. Miller is also critical of those scholars of rhetoric who continue to lament and/or deny that classical rhetoric lost its influence over writing instruction during its initial establishment in America. Although it s theoretically unfortunate that rhetoric lost its status for several centuries within the pedagogical practices of writing instruction, Miller argues that classical rhetoric no longer fit with the needs of a democratic society. Its demise was inevitable. This historical framework mapped out by Miller fits with Murray s complaint about English teachers who were taught to regard a student s writing as a product. If a writer is defined merely as a creator of great
  • 9. Persuasive Essay On Water Polo The U.S. Men s National Water Polo Team are the best athletes in the sport. Although they may not have the most wins, being the best athletes can also be measured by the amount of effort put in by the players and programs. They are the best athletes because they persevere, have a great mentality, and they have numerous medals in many tournaments. First of all, we put in the most effort as a program. A great example of this is the Olympic Development Program, where people go through grueling training. The training starts when you are very young, and they start usually scouting for future Olympians by the age of around 11 14. Another reason they work really hard is because they are small and weak compared to many European teams, which forces them to do even more strength training, and to be faster. Although we prepare kids for our National Team better, many countries start water polo at an earlier age because it is their country s national sport. This is yet another reason why the team must work even harder to counteract the greater amount of experience many countries have. Not only is this team playing what is considered the hardest sport in the world, but they are doing this against athletes much bigger, and more experienced than them. Not... Not only on top of the effort, we also have some the best players in water polo history like Tony Azevedo, Barron Mcquinn, Merrill Moses, Jesse Smith, Alex Bowen, Luka Capedo, Johnny Hooper, Ben Hallock, and even more. And finally, they also have one of the best all around teams out there, and they can work hard and play really well
  • 10. The Issue Of American Patriotism Nationalism and patriotism is a very touchy subject for some people just due to the fact of everyone having their own opinion on what it means. Some people just do not know the difference between the two, or just don t know if there even is a difference. They are very often commonly confused as the same thing and I can see why at first glance, but after searching this subject on many credible sources I have come to find many clarifying and interesting facts on this particular topic. First of all, the actual definition of American patriotism is the pride and devotion to one s homeland. As everything does, there are pros and cons to being a patriot. For example, a pro would be that it leads us to feel proud of and for our county. That ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Unless your knowledge is of a universal type, equally useful and valued anywhere; then it makes no difference where you live, as long as you enjoy your life. Another being specialization; patriotism instinctively guides citizens to discover their natural and cultural specialties: their own resources, traditions, industries, and identity that has existed for ages. They will not imitate or copy another country blindly. Loving a place makes one automatically love, learn, cherish, and improve the special qualities about it/them. A couple of the others are commitment and security. Most cons of patriotism fall under the category of centralization being harmful. They claim that the benefits enjoyed by centralized countries will eventually be shared by everyone worldwide. They say that it is not a big problem to desert some countries as long as citizens are happy and successful elsewhere. They also claim that in over populated countries, or those with high unemployment rates, its better when people leave. I do not neccesarily agree with all of this but I do think the majority of the claims made are true. Nationalism has two definitions that basically mean the same thing but one is more easily understood. The more complicated version saying that

Eric Schmidt and Jonathan Rosenberg are two long time executives at Google. Eric was the CEO of a tech company called Novell before becoming CEO of Google, while Jonathan Rosenberg was hired by Google to be SVP of products. How Googleworks is about lessons that Eric Schmidt and Jonathan Rosenberg learned as they help build the company to where it is now. People do their best work when they have the freedom and tools to do so and during the book, it is constantly brought up because these people have the biggest impacts and the best ideas. These people are free to pitch in ideas that they might have and have a good impact on the company and consumer. Some lessons that I can take away from this book is to attract inspired people to your company. Inspired people are the most effective people as they work hard while using creativity being mixed in with what they do. Another lesson that I can take away from this book is to make sure everyone s
  • 12. The Argument of Dualism Essay In my mind, dualism is a more attractive view to take when considering the mind brain issue. The idea that the mind is a separate entity and that it is independent of the physical body is the central point of dualism. One reason it appeals to me is because of my religion, my Catholic upbringing. Introspection is another good reason why dualism is a little more logical to me than materialism.. It logically explains why the mind and brain are separate. Also, the divisibility argument raises good points to allow dualism to appear to be the more attractive idea in my eyes. Dualism claims that the mind is a distinct nonphysical thing, a complete entity that is independent of any physical body to which it is temporarily attached.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sure the brain has the actual chemical processes and functions, but the mind holds the reasoning behinds actions, and the complex feelings a person has. It is basically what makes a person who he is, and controls his actions as a person. The brain only tells the body to carry out these actions. I think that introspection is another good explanation for dualism being more attractive to me. Introspection was explained to be a sort of mental state, like when you know you have a desire for something to eat. If this occurs, one?s mind will tell his brain to make the body get up and get food to eat. I do not think that the brain is capable of having that feeling of hunger, there might be a reaction in the brain to the stomach being empty, but I believe the actual feeling is in the brain. Despite criticism towards his forceful actions, Trudeau had made a peaceful end to the October crisis. As Pierre Elliot Trudeau strived to patriate the Constitution, the opposition was a huge threat. The Statute of Westminster (1931) and the Second World War (1939 1945) secured Canada s independence. However, Canada continued to retain its links to Great Britain, since its Constitution could only be modified by the British Parliament (Roch). Trudeau wanted to put an end to British control by modifying the Constitution. In the last few weeks of the 1979 election campaign, Trudeau was struggling and decided it was time to present his plan. Double Indemnity uses all of these key points to create a true noir classic. Billy Wilder s direction of the film helped to cement this film as a classic of black and white films. Wilder s decision and storyline stayed true, for the most part, to the original source novel, while also adding and improving key details. Criterion validity answers the question of whether a test reflects a certain set of abilities. One way to assess criterion validity is to compare it to a known standard. A reference is needed to determine an instrument s criterion related validity. Criterion related validity predicts the future. If a nursing program designed a measure to assess student learning throughout the program, a test such as the NCLEX would measure student s ability in this discipline. If the instrument produces the same result as the superior test the instrument has a high criterion related validity. The higher the results the more faith stakeholders will have in the assessment tool. As further developments takes place in the municipal city property values will increase, hence the amount of property tax collected by the Portmore municipal council will also increase. • 35. Labour Party in Britain in the Years 1924-31 Labour Party in Britain in the Years 1924 31 Historians have debated just how competent the two Labour administrations were between 1924 and 1931. Governments are normally only considered competent if they have managed the economy efficiently, prevented widespread corruption and maintained law and order. Labour came to power at the end of 1923, a time when the Conservatives and other right wing groups were spreading vicious rumours about Socialism. MacDonald was determined to disprove these fears, particularly Churchill s jibe that a Labour Party would not be fit to govern . Since the Prime Minister is an integral part of a government, it will also be important to look at the competency of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Other historians have stressed Labour s poor industrial relations during their first term in office, claiming that this indicates a degree of governmental incompetence. MacDonald was determined that the Labour Party would be representative of the nation as a whole, and not merely a political wing of the TUC. Therefore, MacDonald did not want to be seen as giving in to strikers or other industrial activists. In February 1924 there was a national dock strike for higher wages which ended in success for the workers, but MacDonald had been planning to use troops to unload ships had it continued. The following month he proclaimed a state of emergency during a London tram and bus strike. Some historians have argued that the fact that MacDonald was determined to stand up against the TUC and strikers suggests that his party was competent at running the country, since it was not simply pandering to the industrial movement. But others claim that MacDonald was unable to deal with the strikes sufficiently, making his government look weak and incompetent. Some historians have argued that the cabinet of the first Labour government was chosen poorly, with many of the ministers knowing little or nothing about their departments. For example, J.H Thomas, the former railwaymen s leader, became Colonial Secretary despite knowing

On June 25, the French emperor, Napoleon Bonaparte led his army in Europe across the Nieman River into Russia.(1) Although these two events were thousands of kilometers apart they were directly connected to each other. To some extent, the Americans declared war in protest against measures that were part of Britain s effort to defeat Napoleon with the use of blockades. This American dream of major conquest of North America was made clear in a speech given by Congressman Richard Johnston of Kentucky I shall never die contented until I see her [Britain] expulsion from North America, and her territories incorporated with United States. Clostridium Difficile Prevention of Relapse Following Clostridium difficile Infection Using Probiotic Lactobacillus casei Shirota This article, which was submitted for review in 2013, was written by Lennard YW Lee, Ramez Golmohamad, and George MacFaul of the Department of Gastroenterology, Milton Keynes NHS Foundation Trust, Standing Way, Milton Keynes MK65LD, United Kingdom. The paper was accepted for publication August 25, 2013. Clostridium difficile (C. difficile) is an anaerobic, Gram positive, bacillus shaped bacterium that causes the disease Clostridium Difficile Infection (CDI). One of the reasons this particular species is so successful and disease causing is because it possesses the ability to form spores, which makes it very difficult to eradicate, as these spores are able to survive extreme conditions. C. difficile flourishes in the gastrointestinal tracts of individuals who have been prescribed broad spectrum antibiotics, as these tend to disrupt the normal microbiota. If an individual has previously contracted CDI, the likelihood of future infection(s) is more likely than if it were never contracted, at a rate of ~35%. The aim of this study, which is actually the first of its kind, is to utilize the probiotic Lactobacillus casei Shirota (L. casei Shirota) to attempt to suppress the recurrence of CDI after an initial infection. Probiotics contain a live strain(s) of healthy bacteria that help rather than harm an individual, and they work by competing with C. difficile s

It is a film about identity. Central Station is a melodrama of transformation based on an anomalous duo comprising of Dora, a jaded retired schoolteacher, and JosuГ©, a nine year old boy, who embark on a cross country journey in search of the boy s father upon the unfortunate death of his mother. The film presents its analysts with many possible interpretations and significations due to its combination of different themes, visual allusions and narrative elements. Central do Brasil film can be interpreted in three ways: as an extended metaphor on the writing process and a narration of personal stories and experiences, as a figurative journey of Brazilian search for its identity depicted in Dora s transformation and JosuГ© s quest for his roots, and as a theological allegory inviting a theological reading of humans struggling to maintain a relationship to an absent God (Bowman 1). Through a detailed analysis film s content, production, and reception, this paper interprets Central do Brasil as an allegory representing the pursuit for identity and transformation. The first scene of the movie opens with long shots and tracking shots of multitudes of Brazilians streaming and forcing their way in and out of the Rio de Janeiro train s doors and windows scrambling for sitting and standing spaces, juxtaposed with cut edits of medium

So great their power of growth that McDonalds now has over 31 thousand stores in over 118 countries. So iconic that the average US school child can recognize Ronald McDonald. Ritzer describes McDonaldization as ...the process by which the principles of the fast foodrestaurant are coming to dominate more and more sectors of American society as well as of the rest of the world (Ritzer, 1993:1). This penetration by the ideal of McDonaldization can be seen in our school system. School systems are moving towards producing graduates, as apposed to imparting knowledge. Currently in the US we have over 13,000 McDonalds, and according to Ritzer the US only contains half of the worlds McDonalds (Ritzer, 2013:287). The Epic Of Alexander Pope s The Rape Of The Lock Mock epic is a narrative poem which aims at mockery and laughter by using almost all the characteristic features of an epic but for a trivial subject. Alexander Pope s The Rape of the Lock is a famous mock epic. In it, there is invocation to Muses, proposition of subject, battles, supernatural machinery, journey on water, underworld journey, long speeches, feasts (coffee house), Homeric similes and grand style but all for a simple family dispute instead of a national struggle. The grand treatment of a low subject produces hilarious laughter and makes the story more ridiculous. Firstly, Paradise Lost is a long epic poem by John Milton begins with the proposition of justification of God s way to man with nice invocation to the Muses. And another epic poem titled The Faerie Queene by Edmund Spenser follows the same manner. The subject matters in both of the epic poems are grand. Like the epic poems, the poem The Rape of the Lock opens with the proposition of the subject matter and Pope s invocation to the Muses to help him compose the literary art. Such a grand treatment of a trivial subject matter like the clipping of the lock of Belinda provokes laughter when the poet says: I sing this verse to Caryll, Muse! A sad trend of hatred has emerged in the battle against casteism and caste based discrimination. Kancha Ilaiah s Why I am not a Hindu (the non fictional bestseller of 1996) has been constructed as an expression of the voice of post Independence Dalitbahujan consciousness, which was an integral part of their socio political movement. Born in a small South Indian Telangana village in the 1950s, his is the voice of the harassed subaltern, which exposes rampant cultural contradictions and practices. He talks about the marginalized and victimized identity, where they were not only neither included nor respected, but also looked down upon and repelled. The battle against disturbing dehumanizing social evils is manifested in the emergence of disparate groups having one thing in common deep hatred for Hindus. He implores the upper stratas to read and understand what the Other (here, an un Hindu Indian) has to say, for, he believes that those who refuse to listen to new questions and learn new answers will perish and not prosper. This is because every career in the medical field interests me. However, when I decided on this career field, I knew one thing for sure. I knew it entailed several different science courses. I was happy with this because I always loved science. What I did not realize was the fact that it also meant I would have to take two semesters of English after high school. I never had as much interest in English as I did for most other subjects. Therefore, due to my lack of interest, English was always an area where I struggled. That is the reason, when I signed up for classes for my first semester at Wayne State University, I was hesitant to sign up for English 1020. Even though I was hesitant, I knew this was a course I had to take. I promised myself that I would take this class, and I would put in much more effort than I had previously. This effort was mainly enforced because of the extremely high standards that medical schools hold their applicants to (the average GPA to get into the Wayne State Medical School is 3.75). Since the beginning of this class, I have improved in each of the writing outcomes, which include reading, writing, researching, and reflecting, due to the effort I have put into excelling in this class. The first, and the most basic, learningoutcome that was focused upon in class is reading.
