Sex Discrimination at Walmart Essay
Sex Discrimination at Wal Mart OMM640 Business Ethics and Social Responsibility Dr.: David
Britton May 14, 2012 Betty Dukes along with five other women filled a law suit against Wal Mart Inc.
in 2001 for discrimination against women, denying them their raises and also their promotions. Betty
Dukes and the other women hope that they can stand for hundreds of thousands of other women who
might have been similarly affected by this type of behavior when they were there also. Years later the
ladies got the go ahead to represent 1.6 other women in the case seeking back wages and maybe even
punitive damages from Wal Mart. This is by far the biggest class action suit against such a huge

Wal Mart has maintained that they did not discriminate against Betty and the other women that filed
claim against, but I believe that Wal Mart knew exactly what was going on and just chose to ignore
Betty when she was making her complaints. They began to take her seriously when she filed the suit.
Some of the moral complaints the women were suing Wal Mart for was for statistical disparities such
female workers were less likely to be paid the proper wages as the men; they were denied promotion
in a timely fashion different to those of the men (Boatright, 2009, pg.199). There was a lot of bias
involved with all of this; it even has a hint of gender stereotyping. I believe the moral complaints were
justified because Betty made complaints to managers and higher up and because she did this they
began to treat her differently and demoted her for not opening a cash register with a penny but for
talking. When it came to promotions opportunities they were not made known, and those that she
wanted they kept telling her they were filled and hired male counter parts that were not fit for the
position. What made Wal Mart managers determine what part of the store you worked was based on
your gender and that was wrong, not because they were women meant they could not do what was
needed. The women by far were more experienced than the men and the stayed longer on the job also.
It was shown based on the records of the trial and brought

Search For Truth
The historian and the search for truth
A historian is a person who studies and writes about the past and is regarded as an authority on it.
Historians are concerned with the continuous, methodical narrative and research of past events as
relating to the human race; as well as the study of all history in time. History, in its broadest sense, is
the totality of all past events, although a more realistic definition would limit it to the known past. Of
all the fields of serious study and literary effort, history may be the hardest to define precisely, because
the attempt to uncover past events and formulate an intelligible account of them necessarily involves
the use and influence of many auxiliary disciplines and literary forms. The concern ... Show more

The usual test for a statement of fact is verifiability, that is whether it can be shown to correspond to
experience. Standard reference works are often used to check facts. Scientific facts are verified by
repeatable experiments. E. H. Carr in his 1961 volume, what is History? argues that the inherent
biases from the gathering of facts makes the objective truth of any historical perspective idealistic and
impossible. Facts are, like fish in the Ocean, of which we may only happen to catch a few, only an
indication of what is below the surface. Even a dragnet cannot tell us for certain what it would be like
to live below the Ocean s surface. Even if we do not discard any facts (or fish) presented, we will
always miss the majority; the site of our fishing, the methods undertaken, the weather and even luck
play a vital role in what we will catch. Additionally, the composition of history is inevitably made up
by the compilation of many different bias of fact finding all compounded over time. He concludes that
for a historian to attempt a more objective method, one must accept that history can only aspire to a
conversation of the present with the past and that one s methods of fact gathering should be openly
examined. As with science, historical truth and facts will therefore change over time and reflect only
the present consensus (if that).

Maine Nephrology Associates, An 11 Physician Specialty...
I am pleased to share with you my mock strategic plan for Maine Nephrology Associates, an 11
physician specialty practice that specializes in the treatment of kidney disease and hypertension. With
contributions from the National Kidney Foundation, patients, providers and staff, Maine Nephrology
was given the opportunity to influence the direction of the practice over the next several years. This
strategic plan represents a true consensus of the stakeholders of Maine Nephrology Associates. In the
plan you will find that Maine Nephrology will continue to serve the public that have made Maine
Nephrology Associates one of the leading private practices servicing the renal community in southern
Maine. As Maine Nephrology is broadening their scope of practice, they are not only helping patients
with end stage renal disease, but also those patients in early stages of kidney disease, along with those
at risk for kidney disease due to hypertension and/or diabetes. Maine Nephrology follows the vision of
The National Kidney Foundation which was established in 1950 by Ada DeBold in an effort to save
the life of her young son. As a small child, he was diagnosed with pediatric nephrosis, a disease that
causes the kidney to lose protein and in turn the body develops swelling. In the 1950 s this disease was
debilitating and had more than a ninety percent mortality rate. In an effort to find a cure, a group of

After reading the sample request for proposal, it has been determined that the proposal does not meet
the government s standard form for solicitation. A typical form is much lengthier than the provided
sample; however the information provided is very straight to the point. It does specify the services
they would like to have performed and does ask the bidder to provide further information in their
response. The official form would list other information like the deadline for final submission and
would specify if there will be a bidders meeting. A typical RFP is about 12 pages long and would

The person conducting the review or decision should not be related in any way to the procurement in
question, they should be a neutral party. When a contractor files a protest it needs to be logical and to
the point, it should also contain the protestor s name, address and contact information and needs to
specify that this is a protest. When filing a protest at the agency level there are two different deadlines.
You can either file before the closing of the bid or after. In this case if the larger company file after the
bid is closed they have 10 days to do so after the basis for the protest is known. If the protest is
received before the award, no award with be issued until the protest is resolved. If the larger company
decides to file their protest at the GAO level, the same rules apply. They need to have a clear and
concise format and it must be in writing. When filing at the GAO level the protest needs to be
detailed, factual and legal grounds for the complaint. There needs to be proof of prejudice as the basis.
The contractor will also need to provide the agency with a full copy of their protest or complaint. At
the GAO level there are three different deadlines, but they all need to be filed no later than 10 days
after the protestor learns of the offensive action. The last way to file a protest is through the U.S. Court
of Federal Claims. In this scenario there is a judge that will preside over the matter and act as

Economic Growth Of A Recession
A recession can be defined as an economic decline in gross domestic product, in which, a nation
experiences a downward sloping growth rate. Additionally, recessions tend to have a time range of two
or more periods/quarters of falling real gross domestic product (GDP), consequently from the negative
sloping economic growth rate. In order to properly define causal factors of a recession, it is most
appropriate to elucidate what GDP s meaning. GDP = I + C + G + NE GDP provides a monetary value
of all final goods and services produced within a nation in a particular year. The independent variables
make up the GDP, which is comprised of the sum of investments, consumption, government spending,
and net exports. A strong GDP is a good representation because it indicates a nation s viability. It is
rather pertinent for a nation to be able to forecast the economy and know where along the business
cycle the economy is headed. There are multiple macroeconomic indicators that are analyzed to make
lucid a nations economic condition, such as foreign direct investments, oil prices, and employment. In
this paper, we will be analyzing the causal relationship between interest rates and recessionary
periods, pertaining particularly to The Russian Federation. Based on the graph below (See Russian
GDP Growth), one can discern that Russia began to experience fluctuation in their GDP at the start of
2008. Zeliko Bogetic states in the article Russia: Reform After the Great Recession, this

Residential School Apology Analysis
On behalf of the Government of Canada this apology is in the hopes of reconciling the broken
relationship between the government and our First Nations People. The treatment that children faced
in residential schools is the darkest part of our country s history. Throughout the century that
residential schools existed, over 150,000 Aboriginal families were separated. These children were
being removed and isolated from their homes, families, culture, and traditions in the purpose of them
adopting the dominant culture. Tragically, while attending these residential schools, some of these
children died and others never returned home. The few stories of positive experiences from residential
schools is out shined by the numerous horrid accounts of the physical, sexual and emotional abuse
causing lasting suffering passed down from generations.. We apologize for neglecting these helpless
children. For this we are very sorry. We are sorry for not only the terrible, abusive experiences you had
to go through but also the burden it put on you to have no power from stopping your children from
suffering in the same way.

Title: Best gap wedge
With the short game accounting for more than 50% of shots you play in a round, improving your
wedge play is the first step to shooting a lower score. The wedge is the most important aspect when
playing golf. Acting as the goalkeepers of our game by saving us shots from both turf and sand, golf
wedges come in various lofts, finishes, bounce and grinds to help us get closer to the pin from
anywhere inside of 125 yards. Gap wedges range in loft from 50 to 55 degrees and are a compromise
between a pitching wedge and a sand wedge. A gap wedge is particularly critical to use today because
the 5 degree difference in degrees between the SW and PW in the 1960s has now grown to exactly 10
degrees. This has made room for golf club companies to respond by inventing a new club to fill the
gap , and of course, encourage us to buy more products.

2010 Chile Earthquake Case Study
Earthquake Case History:
2010 Mw = 8.8 Mega thrust Earthquake, Maule, Chile
5/2/13
By Travis Eddy
1. Introduction
In early 2010 central south Chile experienced a Mw = 8.8 earthquake and large tsunami waves that
devastated areas on the Chilean Pacific coast, nearby offshore islands, and areas near the epicenter. In
addition to the tsunami, the earthquake had many other geological consequences including
aftershocks, terrestrial and submarine land sliding, elevation changes, and a gravity shift. The purpose
of this paper is to discuss and analyze the earthquake, its consequences, the resulting damages, and
mitigation.

The most severe impacts were observed on the Chilean coastline adjacent to the epicenter from San
Antonio Tirua, and 670 km offshore on the Juan Fernandez Archipelago (Synolakis, 2011; Yamazaki
and Cheung, 2011). The tsunami hit many areas close to the epicenter within 30 minutes of the main
event, however due to bathymetry and coastline shape, tsunami directions, impacts, and arrival times
vary. (Synolakis, 2011; Yamazaki and Cheung, 2011). For example, Talcahuano Harbor located in The
Bay of Concepcion 100 kilometers south of the epicenter experienced an impact from a resonated 129
minute period oscillating wave three hours after the main event (Yamazaki and Cheung, 2011).
Resonance such as this occurred in various areas along the Chilean coastline, and was caused by
standing and partial standing wave systems produced along the coast due to wave reflection between
the continental shelf and the headlands, resulting in radiated tsunami energy to become trapped over
the continental margin (Yamazaki and Cheung, 2011).
6. Land sliding
The main event caused both terrestrial and submarine land sliding to occur in the area. Around 30
slides were delineated, with a majority of them being submarine (Volker, et.al., 2011). These
submarine slides were confined to the walls of various submarine canyons, and were characterized as
thin transitional slides retrograding into open slopes adjacent to the canyons (Volker, et.al., 2011).

Pozdnyshev s Self-Knowledge And The Limitations Of Narrative
Pozdnyshev wife s life altered after bearing children beginning to develop independent hobbies, such
as playing the piano, which sparks Pozdnyshev s jealousy. Before taking up her hobbies, she brings a
notion to her husband that in the world, the only thing worthy of attention [is] love (Tolstoy 42). She
feels that she lacks love in her marriage, which results her to devote herself passionately to the piano,
which had formerly stood forgotten in the corner (Tolstoy 42) to make up for lost love. Afterwards,
their arguments became more intense, and Pozdnyshev becomes polluted by jealousy (Tolstoy 42)
once his wife s attention is no longer on him, knowing that he is losing control of the mastery of the
gaze. According to Jeanette Bicknell, the author of the scholarly article Self Knowledge and the
Limitations of Narrative, she views Pozdnyshev s ignorance of his own emotional states and unhappy
marriage could stem from a lack of self knowledge (Bicknell 409). He expresses his fear of losing the
mastery of the gaze through anger, stemming not from unhealthy attitudes toward sexuality, but from
his frustration at his inability to control his own desire, and at his inability of controlling his wife s
body (Bicknell 409). By getting angry with her for taking up hobbies, he doesn t see her as a human
being, but an object that always needs to be managed by him through the mastery of the gaze. Without
being able to control her, he loses grasp of the gaze, which results in

The teenage years and transition to adulthood is in itself a very difficult period. Blending or fitting in
are omnipresent issues that must be dealt with. For children of immigrants, this difficulty is only
intensified through language. Both Amy Tan and Khang Nguyen strategically use narrative anecdotes
and employ several rhetorical devices to illustrate this struggle in their works, Mother Tongue and The
Happy Days, respectfully. Amy Tan chooses her childhood home as the primary setting of her work.
This allows her to focus primarily on her conversations and interactions with her mother. However,

Tan and Khang describe the struggle of fitting in with the added difficulty of growing up as a child of
immigrants. Both compare and contrast their relationships inside and out side the home in order to
clearly demonstrate the differences and difficulties. As the stories develop, so do their characters,
allowing for subtle reflection.
At hoe, Amy Tan maintained a loving relationship with her mother. There, they were able to speak to
each other the same way and understand each other perfectly. It was only outside the home that
communication became a problem. She recalls how people disrespected her mother in department
stores, restaurants and other places. Her mother, on a daily basis, received a constant condescending
attitude from people. Tan became very uncomfortable with such attitudes. When her mother is
disrespected or treated unfairly, Tan would simply sit there red faced and quiet . She never felt angry
toward her mother, like Khang did. However, she did feel that her mother s informal English limited
her perception of her.
As an adult, Tan understands that her mother s English is the language of intimacy. She now
understands that her mother s expressive command belies how much she actually understands Her
mother reads The Wall street Journal and converses with their stockbroker on matters Tan doesn t

The Importance Of The National Park System
Although sites in the National Park System can sometimes be difficult to categorize due to their
diversity, each site is given a designation that attempts to best capture the nature and uses of site. As
determined by Congress in 1970, all units within the system have equal legal standing. This means
that all sites within the National Park System have equal protection under the law. The National Park
System falls under the purview of the Department of the Interior.
Designations within the National Park System include:
* National Park * National Historical Park * National Recreation Area * National Parkway
* National Monument * National Memorial * National Seashore * National Trail
* National Preserve * National Battlefield * National Lakeshore * Affiliated Areas

During The Elizabethan Age, things were a lot, and I mean a lot more different than the things
happening in the now. Things, such as political power, education, government and even literature have
changed drastically because of the constant change happening in our society. In terms of politics, we
differ in the kind of government we are implicating. Back then we used to follow the political
structure of Monarchy, wherein we had a simplified social order of the Monarch or the queen, the
nobility class, the merchants, the yeomans, and the laborers. This structure gave people with higher
ranks complete power over those people on lower ranks. In the Elizabethan Era, Queen Elizabeth I

He goes on to explain how the law when finally passed is unlikely to mirror their exact interest, as
when it moved through the legislative process other interest groups asserted their influence to modify
it in ways to accommodate their interest. This gives us a simple but clear idea of the effect interest
groups have on policy making and makes one wonder the conduciveness of such actions to the
economy if politics are to pamper to the interests of interest groups. Murphy (2010) also outlined that
interest groups do not only effect government but they also exercise their influence on policy through
public and private channels both directly and indirectly.

The Influence Of The Tea Act
The decision of British ruler to tax the colonists was not a decision that the settlers approved and they
demonstrate it in many occasions. Starting in 1764 with the sugar act, where products like coffee, tea,
sugar wine were taxed, all through the stamp act and many others the British reign reaches its
culmination with the tea act which was a last attempt by the parliament to assert its supremacy over
the colonists. The tea act was an attempt by the English parliament to save the India Company from
bankruptcy. They gave them the right to sell tea directly to the Americans and they reduced some

The Blockbuster Model
In order to grasp a substantial and comprehensive understanding of the audiovisual spectacle of film,
one must understand what genre is and the different ways in which genre operates. During our class
discussions we learned that genre acts as a living organism. Thomas Schatz argues that genre like
virtually any story, can be examined in terms of fundamental narrative components: plot, setting, and
character (Schatz 21). Beyond these fundamental narrative components, Schatz states that genre film
incorporates a specific cultural context where thematic conflicts are animated, intensified, and
resolved by familiar characteristics (Schatz 21). We can recognize and distinguish particular genres
through the analysis of the evolution of genre. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Given that genres are considered a form of living organisms with a life cycle, we can argue that they
carry the ability to evolve and grow into other previously unknown sub genres. Filmmakers are able to
explore the possibilities within a certain genre and possibly create a subgenre that has never been
explored prior. For instance, comedy is a well known genre in film and audiences have seen it develop
into several other sub genres. An individual film has the ability to apply the traditional characteristics
of a comedy film and combine it with other characteristics, which then transform it into a sub genre.
One example of this is the military comedy sub genre. While many people may consider the topic of
war to be grim or dark, filmmakers have created a sub genre that incorporates comedic tropes in order
to ease the anxieties the audience has towards war. One could describe the characteristics of a military
comedy as a film that incorporates the characteristics of a traditional comedy while adding widely
shared attitudes towards war, such as being drafted and feeling afraid or out of place. Understanding
genre is critical to understanding how cinema works. Studying the network of genres can help us
easily identify and analyze films in a much greater detail. This ability to identify and analyze speaks to
the larger understanding of cinema itself. Cinema is constantly reaching new milestones. A
comprehensive understanding

Andrew Jackson And The Indian Removal Act
During Andrew Jackson s presidency, which lasted from 1829 until 1837, he believed in the removal
of the American Indians to help avoid annihilation. During these years, the Indian Removal Act was
passed, and was the first major law within the time frame. This act, passed in 1830, stated that all the
Indian tribes residing east of the Mississippi River needed to pack up and move to the west of the
river, although the relocation was only voluntary. Jackson did this in the hopes that they would give in
to the pressure, considering that he sided with the land hungry citizens eager to take their place. This
was because the Americans wanted to settle in the lands occupied by the Indians, therefore requiring
them to evacuate over one hundred thousand of them. Overall, the passing of this policy affected
Jackson s political and social philosophy.
To begin, Andrew Jackson had been planning for the removal of the Indians even before he took
office. As stated in Document 3, It gives me pleasure to announce to Congress that the benevolent
policy of the Government, steadily pursued for nearly thirty years, in relation to the removal of the
Indians beyond the white settlements is approaching...a happy consummation. During this speech,
more specifically Jackson s Second Annual Message to Congress delivered in 1830, he went on to
inform them of the process and current progress of the Indian removal plan and all the benefits that
went alongside it. He then stated that it put an end to

Jalen Life Insurance
Life insurance plays a critical role in an individual s estate planning. One of the main reasons for this
is to create liquidity or cash flow. Traditionally, assets in an estate are non liquid assets such as
business interests or personal property, including real estate. At the time of death, expenses and estate
taxes, can be overwhelming for heirs to find the cash to pay. If this is the case, then the estate assets
must be either sold or used as collateral in taking out a loan to pay the taxes. Another factor is that
estate taxes must be paid within a certain time frame, typically 6 9 months after the estate payout.
(IRS, IRS.gov, 2015)
Careful planning must be done in using life insurance to pay for estate taxes. Ownership of the policy

The basic trust requirements are met including that Jalen is stated as the beneficiary. Glenn continues
to contribute each year. Once Jalen reaches the age of 21, the account has now reached $50,000
balance with growth earnings. Jalen is not finished with college, but decides he wants to gain control
of the money right now to travel and has legal rights to the trust money. (CODE) Glenn is concerned
about him having control of the money. Without coercing him, Glenn explains to Jalen the lesson of
the compound effect and that exercising his rights to take the money out will change the terms of the
trust, resulting in tax consequences for both parties. In addition to that, Glenn would no longer be
making contributions. Jalen takes thirty days to think about this. After thirty days, Jalen decides to
leave the money in the account. Because Jalen chose not to exercise his right to the money during the
stated window of thirty days after age 21, the trust is converted to a Crummey Trust for Jalen. The
Crummey Trust satisfies the requirements: all income and principal be distributed to the beneficiary at
age 21 and all income will be distributed currently. It also meets the four factors the IRS uses in
determining whether a beneficiary s withdrawal right qualifies for gifts to a

Sales Over The Past Three Years Essay
Sales over the past three months have shown a significant decline. The focus of this decline seems to
be driven by two factors. The first is the rollout out of the new power cleaning supplies that we
recently launched. As the leader in industrial cleaning supplies, we ve come to expect that new
products automatically relate to increased sales. Our growth over the past ten years has proven this.
The second challenge impacting sales are the sales people. Currently 50% of the sales staff has less
than one year s sales experience. Their lack of knowledge on the depth of our products is working
against us. While we do an excellent job in screening for new sales staff, the volume of data related to
what we sell can be overwhelming to newer employees.
New Products
The New Products division has maintained a high level of success with each rollout of our new
cleaning products. Their ability to create and sell our products each time is second to none. As part of
this success, I believe they ve come to expect it. With their winning track record, it is easy to see how
anyone could fall into this thought process. By being the industry leader, it is our responsibility to
identify future sales opportunities and pursue them. To address the issue of falling sales as it relates to
this team, I recommend we implement the Key Problem Solving Strategies as identified by John Adair
(2013), with the goal being to change the thought process on new product roll out. The three keys to
this are

The Round House By Louise Erdrich
Survivance is a term that is used in Native American studies and it includes two important terms:
survival and resistance . Survivance refers to an active sense of presence and in native stories, natural
reason, active traditions, customs, narrative resistance, and clearly observable in personal attributes,
such as humor, spirit, cast of mind, and moral courage (Vizenor). It allows them to transform their
experiences of historical trauma into courage, forgiveness, and healing through political activism and
cultural revitalization (sfsu).Vizenor defines this term in opposition to victimry and it is more than just
survival for the Native Americans, but as self reliant perseverance through all the hardships that had
presented themselves such as the forced assimilation into the white community and culture. Instead of
losing their roots, the Native Americans were able to hold on to their historical culture and traditions
and were so much more than mere survival.
The Round House, written by Louise Erdrich is a fictional novel that focuses on a Chippewa family in
a North Dakota Indian reservation. The story is written from the perspective of a young man, Joe
Coutts, who is the son of a tribal judge, Bazil Coutts, and his mother, Geraldine, who was brutally
raped by a white man, Lindin Lark, in a savage act of vengeance. After this violent act, Joe s mother
spirals into solidarity and becomes closed off to the point where she is unable to leave her room. This

his father due to the fact that his father is woozy due to all the whiskey. Also, Roethke says, You beat

How does a class being conducted online instead of on campus increase or decrease the classes
contribution to the carbon cycle during the term?
Conducting online classes not only is time efficient but also prevents students to pollute earth. Being
on campus would ask student for transportation. How will the students come from home to campus?
Universities are never on walking distances therefor having a personal car or using transits such as
buses or taxis is the only way to get to school. Universities hold thousands of students which mean if

As rock breaks down, phosphate and other ions are released. Plants then absorb the phosphates from
the soil with the assistance of water. The phosphorus cycle moves the essential element from Earth s
crust into its soil, fresh water ecosystems, terrestrial ecosystems, and oceans. This process, especially
the portion involving the sea floor and Earth s crust, typically takes many millions of years.
Phosphorus
Because of its relative rarity, phosphorus is frequently a limiting factor in the growth of plants and
other organisms which relate to tropical rain forests.
Nitrogen Cycle To become biologically available, inert nitrogen gas (N2) must become fixed, or
combined with hydrogen in nature to form ammonium ions (NH4), which are chemically and
biologically active and can be taken up by plants. However, once nitrogen undergoes the right kind of
chemical change, it becomes available to the organisms that need it and can then act as a potent
fertilizer.
To the tropical forest nitrogen supports as a potent fertilizer in the forest.
Nitrogen Cycle
Carbon Cycle
The carbon cycle describes the routes that carbon atoms take through the nested networks of
environmental systems.
The abundance of plants and the fact that they take in so much carbon dioxide for photosynthesis
makes plants a major reservoir, or sink, for CO2, and thus for carbon. Carbon Cycle

As stated in the opening paragraph it is mentioned that the jump shot has developed into what many
younger players cannot accomplish and that is a jump shot from long distance. The beginning of the
jump shot was intended to rise above the defender to release the ball where no player can block, but as
time went on the jump shot has become a long range toss up where there is no defender believing
there is even a shot to block. There have been many alterations to the jump shot over the years, but a

Imagery In Macbeth By Caroline Spurgeon
Imagery makes use of words that help to create a visual of ideas in one s mind throughout works of
literature. According to Caroline F.E Spurgeon, the imagery in Macbeth appears to be more rich and
varied, more highly imaginative, more unapproachable by any other writer, than that of any other
single play (Spurgeon 155). The imagery helps readers to understand and imagine the complexities of
the play. One particular piece of imagery that is evident throughout Macbeth is the picture of Macbeth
himself. An idea that recurs throughout Macbeth, is that Macbeth s new honors causes him to have an
ill change in his personality. Readers are able to see this recurring change through imagery. Surgeon

The Impacts Of Globalization In China
Globalisation refers to the integration between different countries and economies and the increased
impact of international influences on all aspects of life and economic activity . China is the world s
second largest economy and is the fastest growing economy over the past decades, hence known as an
emerging economy, by sustaining an average rate of growth of around 10% GDP p.a (2014). Hence,
with the transition from a purely planned to a market driven or free market economy has also
facilitated progress in development, trade and increases in per capita income paving the way for
poverty reduction. The impacts of globalisation have enabled the Chinese government to adopt
various strategies in response, and consequently have had significant impacts on the Chinese economy
to promote _______ and _______. China has sustained a high rate of average annual growth in real
GDP 10.1% between 1998 and 2008. The growth rate peaked at 14.2% in 2007 but slowed to 9.2%
due to the impact of the Global Financial Crisis (GFC) on China s exports and inflows of foreign
investments. Hence, in 2015, China s growth was 6.9%, falling to 6.7% in 2016 and forecast at 6.7%
in 2017. Despite these recent slowdowns, the Chinese economy has seen a rapid rise in overall
economic performance over the past years due to the introduction of globalisation. The Chinese
government has capitalised on growth opportunities through policies promoting trade and foreign
investment. Through the Great Leap

Inhumanity In Tuesdays With Morrie And Night
There is only one way in which one can endure man s inhumanity to man and that is to try, in one s
own life, to exemplify man s humanity to man Alan Paton. Neither of the characters in Tuesdays with
Morrie by Mitch Albom, and Night by Elie Wiesel, had a choice about the inhumanity they faced. One
was cursed with a fatal disease and the other was put in a death camp. Even though both of the main
characters, Morrie and Elie, experienced copious amounts of inhumanity, they both found it in them to
be humane. Both Tuesdays with Morrie and Night deal with cases of inhumanity and get through it by
being humane to others.

Elie is in a concentration camp that forces him to face inhumanity everyday. Elie and the others in the
camp never knew when they were going to face death, like Morrie. From day one Elie was
dehumanized and treated like an animal. When he was taken from his home, he was placed in a cattle
car. He was then given a number and stripped from his identity. The Nazis continually called him
worthless and a pig. Elie questioned how anyone could be humane in a situation like this and said,
Humanity? Humanity is not concerned with us. Today anything is allowed. Anything is possible, even
these crematories (30), but despite all of the trauma and inhumanity Elie faced on a daily basis, he was
humane to his father. Elie did everything in his power to stay alive for his father, similiar in a way to
Mitch in Tuesdays with Morrie. Elie showed humanity to his father. In the beginning when they had to
march everywhere, Shlomo, Elie s father, struggled with it. Like Morrie, Elie taught Shlomo how to
march and to not get in trouble. Elie wanted the best for his father. When Elie s father was on his
deathbed, Elie brought him food and water, even though Elie himself was starving. Elie did not give in
to the inhumanity that was brought upon him. Elie chose to rise above it, just as Morrie

Macro Sociology
Sociologists analyze different levels of society from various perspectives. Due to Micro and Macro
sociology we can look at the world from a smaller and larger scope. We zoom in on ourselves and then
place the focus in broader context. Theories are like cameras there is such a wide collection with so
many filters based on our preferences, which is why we should consider them all. Sociology has
manifested itself into three distinct forms those being conflict, structural functionalist, and
interactionist theories. For any beginner student it is easier to regard the function of these theories
behaving like a tricycle. We need to include them all in order to move forward with our overall
understanding of societal development. Karl Marx, one of the most studied sociologists (at least in
high school), coined the idea of conflict theory. This concept specifically considered the economic
aspects of society. It contradicted August Comte s previous century ideas of natural laws to social
sciences. Marx believed that social change is fueled by the economy. He wrote the Communist
Manifesto ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Society works like that of an organism. Herbert Spencer theorized that each person provides a role to
its survival. His views are clearly different compared to conflict theory since he examined the stability
and interrelated parts of society. Spencer defined the main organs as social institutions that prioritized
certain needs such as education, healthcare, religion, and government. This can be studied on a local
or nationally known level. Emile Durkheim, Alfred Radcliffe Brown, and Robert Merton furthered
their study of functioning continuity in society. All parts of society essentially the laws and policies
must work together to preserve a dynamic equilibrium. Dysfunctions reduce solidity which makes
critics assume that structural functionalism cannot measure social change

Fuel Consumption Reduction Of Automobile Development
1.1 INTRODUCTION
Not only to save energy but also to protect the global environment, fuel consumption reduction is
main concern of automobile development. In development of vehicle body, it is essential to reduce
drag for improving fuel consumption and driving performance. An aerodynamically purified body is
not only aesthetically attractive but also it will help much to increase the vehicles appeal to the
customer [1].
If a body of arbitrary shape, immerged in a large stationary mass of fluid is moved with constant
velocity through the fluid, the body exerts a force to the fluid, which opposes the motion of the body
[4]. Also the fluid exerts a force to the body as every action have equal and opposite direction. The
force exerts on the body or the fluid results from the relative motion between the emerged body and its
surroundings fluid. As such it makes no difference in the magnitude of the force whether the body
through the stationary fluid or the fluid flows about the immerged body which is at rest [5]. In general,
vehicles are known to be aerodynamically insufficient compare to other ground vehicles due to their
large frontal areas and bluff body shapes. The insufficient aerodynamic shape results in excessive drag
which leads to elevated fuel consumption rate [3]. A streamlined shape of vehicle is very important in
reducing fuel demand by up to 7%. Vehicles with an aerodynamic shape use less fuel. Air flows easily
over them and less energy is needed to

Personal Reflection On My Experience In My Life
Entry 1. I didn t have a goal coming into class at first, but after hurting my toe over the weekend I
decided that I would focus on doing my best at physical activities in spite of it. While I had some
trouble with the walking and running portions of the exercises, I was mostly successful at completing
them all. Also, during the warm up exercises I ve started to be able to relax my body more, I can now
feel my upper arms start to touch the floor when I m laying down instead of just my hands, shoulders
and elbows. This class involved doing some word association games in addition to more work on our
open scenes. I didn t perform any open scenes in front of the class but I did do a few recitals of it with
a partner, including with some circumstances given to us by the professor. While previously I found
that I was very good at imagining my own circumstances for the scene and acting on those, I feel that I
don t do quite as well when being directed. I think that in the future it will be important for me to learn
to naturally use the circumstances I am given in my acting.
Entry 2. Today my main goal was to remain motivated. For whatever reason I started to lose interest in
the class around the time we started our Hey everybody exercise, got better afterwards and then
gradually lost interest when the other students began work on their scenes and monologues until the
end of class; so I suppose that I failed. Today s class included hot clapping, hey everybody, comic

Some of these can be listed as follows:
 Information integration: ERP have the ability to update information between business functions and
components that are related. For example: a customer XYZ places an order. As soon as the order is
placed it triggers production, planning, inventory and other processes. After all these processes get
over, the details regarding product delivery date are given to the user. Thus, the user gets instantaneous
information because of integration of information.
Reduction of lead time: The time taken to deliver an order minus the time at which order was placed
is known as the lead time. Because of the efficient inventory management systems that anticipate
demand ahead of the orders that are placed, lead time has decreased considerably.
They improve customer satisfaction by on time delivery, shorter delivery times.
They reduce inventory costs as a result of planning and integration of all business processes.

United Service Automobile Association ( Usaa ) Essay
United Services Automobile Association (USAA) was founded with a simple mission. That mission
was to provide auto insurance coverage for its initial group of investors. These investors were all
military officers who found that auto insurance was too expensive and difficult to obtain due to their
high risk occupations. Membership was initially restricted to active duty military officers. Over the
years, eligibility has been expanded to include active duty and retired military personnel regardless of
rank or branch of service and their families.
Since its founding in 1922, the company and mission have changed to provide comprehensive
financial support to its members through a variety of insurance, banking, and investment options.
These changes caused USAA to straddle two businesses; insurance and banking. Both of these
businesses are highly regulated. As such, managing these various companies has proven to be a
challenge that USAA continually addresses through its financial services operations.
External general factors
External general environment factors include government regulations, general economic conditions,
customer acquisition considerations, and corporate brand loyalty. Both the insurance and banking
businesses are the subject of many regulations. These are generated by the federal government and
state legislatures. All of these regulations seek to protect consumers by establishing specific financial
requirements, business practices, and employee training for the

  • 3. Sex Discrimination at Walmart Essay Sex Discrimination at Wal Mart OMM640 Business Ethics and Social Responsibility Dr.: David Britton May 14, 2012 Betty Dukes along with five other women filled a law suit against Wal Mart Inc. in 2001 for discrimination against women, denying them their raises and also their promotions. Betty Dukes and the other women hope that they can stand for hundreds of thousands of other women who might have been similarly affected by this type of behavior when they were there also. Years later the ladies got the go ahead to represent 1.6 other women in the case seeking back wages and maybe even punitive damages from Wal Mart. This is by far the biggest class action suit against such a huge company ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Wal Mart has maintained that they did not discriminate against Betty and the other women that filed claim against, but I believe that Wal Mart knew exactly what was going on and just chose to ignore Betty when she was making her complaints. They began to take her seriously when she filed the suit. Some of the moral complaints the women were suing Wal Mart for was for statistical disparities such female workers were less likely to be paid the proper wages as the men; they were denied promotion in a timely fashion different to those of the men (Boatright, 2009, pg.199). There was a lot of bias involved with all of this; it even has a hint of gender stereotyping. I believe the moral complaints were justified because Betty made complaints to managers and higher up and because she did this they began to treat her differently and demoted her for not opening a cash register with a penny but for talking. When it came to promotions opportunities they were not made known, and those that she wanted they kept telling her they were filled and hired male counter parts that were not fit for the position. What made Wal Mart managers determine what part of the store you worked was based on your gender and that was wrong, not because they were women meant they could not do what was needed. The women by far were more experienced than the men and the stayed longer on the job also. It was shown based on the records of the trial and brought ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Search For Truth The historian and the search for truth A historian is a person who studies and writes about the past and is regarded as an authority on it. Historians are concerned with the continuous, methodical narrative and research of past events as relating to the human race; as well as the study of all history in time. History, in its broadest sense, is the totality of all past events, although a more realistic definition would limit it to the known past. Of all the fields of serious study and literary effort, history may be the hardest to define precisely, because the attempt to uncover past events and formulate an intelligible account of them necessarily involves the use and influence of many auxiliary disciplines and literary forms. The concern ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The usual test for a statement of fact is verifiability, that is whether it can be shown to correspond to experience. Standard reference works are often used to check facts. Scientific facts are verified by repeatable experiments. E. H. Carr in his 1961 volume, what is History? argues that the inherent biases from the gathering of facts makes the objective truth of any historical perspective idealistic and impossible. Facts are, like fish in the Ocean, of which we may only happen to catch a few, only an indication of what is below the surface. Even a dragnet cannot tell us for certain what it would be like to live below the Ocean s surface. Even if we do not discard any facts (or fish) presented, we will always miss the majority; the site of our fishing, the methods undertaken, the weather and even luck play a vital role in what we will catch. Additionally, the composition of history is inevitably made up by the compilation of many different bias of fact finding all compounded over time. He concludes that for a historian to attempt a more objective method, one must accept that history can only aspire to a conversation of the present with the past and that one s methods of fact gathering should be openly examined. As with science, historical truth and facts will therefore change over time and reflect only the present consensus (if that). A historical fact is a fact ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I am pleased to share with you my mock strategic plan for Maine Nephrology Associates, an 11 physician specialty practice that specializes in the treatment of kidney disease and hypertension. With contributions from the National Kidney Foundation, patients, providers and staff, Maine Nephrology was given the opportunity to influence the direction of the practice over the next several years. This strategic plan represents a true consensus of the stakeholders of Maine Nephrology Associates. In the plan you will find that Maine Nephrology will continue to serve the public that have made Maine Nephrology Associates one of the leading private practices servicing the renal community in southern Maine. As Maine Nephrology is broadening their scope of practice, they are not only helping patients with end stage renal disease, but also those patients in early stages of kidney disease, along with those at risk for kidney disease due to hypertension and/or diabetes. Maine Nephrology follows the vision of The National Kidney Foundation which was established in 1950 by Ada DeBold in an effort to save the life of her young son. As a small child, he was diagnosed with pediatric nephrosis, a disease that causes the kidney to lose protein and in turn the body develops swelling. In the 1950 s this disease was debilitating and had more than a ninety percent mortality rate. In an effort to find a cure, a group of clinicians and researchers were put together to share their findings to develop ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay on Socioeconomics of Government Contracting Assignment 2: Socioeconomics of Government Contracting Tyasheen Anderson Dr. Bonita Campbell LEG440 February 3, 2013 After reading the sample request for proposal, it has been determined that the proposal does not meet the government s standard form for solicitation. A typical form is much lengthier than the provided sample; however the information provided is very straight to the point. It does specify the services they would like to have performed and does ask the bidder to provide further information in their response. The official form would list other information like the deadline for final submission and would specify if there will be a bidders meeting. The person conducting the review or decision should not be related in any way to the procurement in question, they should be a neutral party. When a contractor files a protest it needs to be logical and to the point, it should also contain the protestor s name, address and contact information and needs to specify that this is a protest. When filing a protest at the agency level there are two different deadlines. You can either file before the closing of the bid or after. In this case if the larger company file after the bid is closed they have 10 days to do so after the basis for the protest is known. If the protest is received before the award, no award with be issued until the protest is resolved. If the larger company decides to file their protest at the GAO level, the same rules apply. They need to have a clear and concise format and it must be in writing. When filing at the GAO level the protest needs to be detailed, factual and legal grounds for the complaint. There needs to be proof of prejudice as the basis. The contractor will also need to provide the agency with a full copy of their protest or complaint. At the GAO level there are three different deadlines, but they all need to be filed no later than 10 days after the protestor learns of the offensive action. The last way to file a protest is through the U.S. Court of Federal Claims. In this scenario there is a judge that will preside over the matter and act as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Additionally, recessions tend to have a time range of two or more periods/quarters of falling real gross domestic product (GDP), consequently from the negative sloping economic growth rate. In order to properly define causal factors of a recession, it is most appropriate to elucidate what GDP s meaning. GDP = I + C + G + NE GDP provides a monetary value of all final goods and services produced within a nation in a particular year. The independent variables make up the GDP, which is comprised of the sum of investments, consumption, government spending, and net exports. It is rather pertinent for a nation to be able to forecast the economy and know where along the business cycle the economy is headed. • 10. Residential School Apology Analysis On behalf of the Government of Canada this apology is in the hopes of reconciling the broken relationship between the government and our First Nations People. The treatment that children faced in residential schools is the darkest part of our country s history. Throughout the century that residential schools existed, over 150,000 Aboriginal families were separated. These children were being removed and isolated from their homes, families, culture, and traditions in the purpose of them adopting the dominant culture. Tragically, while attending these residential schools, some of these children died and others never returned home. The few stories of positive experiences from residential schools is out shined by the numerous horrid accounts of the physical, sexual and emotional abuse causing lasting suffering passed down from generations.. We apologize for neglecting these helpless children. For this we are very sorry. • 11. Essay On Gap Wedge Goal: Review post Total word count in this document: 1011 Title: Best gap wedge With the short game accounting for more than 50% of shots you play in a round, improving your wedge play is the first step to shooting a lower score. The wedge is the most important aspect when playing golf. Acting as the goalkeepers of our game by saving us shots from both turf and sand, golf wedges come in various lofts, finishes, bounce and grinds to help us get closer to the pin from anywhere inside of 125 yards. Gap wedges range in loft from 50 to 55 degrees and are a compromise between a pitching wedge and a sand wedge. A gap wedge is particularly critical to use today because the 5 degree difference in degrees between the SW and PW in the 1960s has now grown to exactly 10 degrees. This has made room for golf club companies to respond by inventing a new club to fill the gap , and of course, encourage us to buy more products. Introduction In early 2010 central south Chile experienced a Mw = 8.8 earthquake and large tsunami waves that devastated areas on the Chilean Pacific coast, nearby offshore islands, and areas near the epicenter. In addition to the tsunami, the earthquake had many other geological consequences including aftershocks, terrestrial and submarine land sliding, elevation changes, and a gravity shift. The purpose of this paper is to discuss and analyze the earthquake, its consequences, the resulting damages, and mitigation. 2. The most severe impacts were observed on the Chilean coastline adjacent to the epicenter from San Antonio Tirua, and 670 km offshore on the Juan Fernandez Archipelago (Synolakis, 2011; Yamazaki and Cheung, 2011). The tsunami hit many areas close to the epicenter within 30 minutes of the main event, however due to bathymetry and coastline shape, tsunami directions, impacts, and arrival times vary. (Synolakis, 2011; Yamazaki and Cheung, 2011). For example, Talcahuano Harbor located in The Bay of Concepcion 100 kilometers south of the epicenter experienced an impact from a resonated 129 minute period oscillating wave three hours after the main event (Yamazaki and Cheung, 2011). Resonance such as this occurred in various areas along the Chilean coastline, and was caused by standing and partial standing wave systems produced along the coast due to wave reflection between the continental shelf and the headlands, resulting in radiated tsunami energy to become trapped over the continental margin (Yamazaki and Cheung, 2011). 6. Land sliding The main event caused both terrestrial and submarine land sliding to occur in the area. Around 30 slides were delineated, with a majority of them being submarine (Volker, et.al., 2011). These submarine slides were confined to the walls of various submarine canyons, and were characterized as thin transitional slides retrograding into open slopes adjacent to the canyons (Volker, et.al., 2011). 7. • 13. Pozdnyshev s Self-Knowledge And The Limitations Of Narrative Pozdnyshev wife s life altered after bearing children beginning to develop independent hobbies, such as playing the piano, which sparks Pozdnyshev s jealousy. Before taking up her hobbies, she brings a notion to her husband that in the world, the only thing worthy of attention [is] love (Tolstoy 42). She feels that she lacks love in her marriage, which results her to devote herself passionately to the piano, which had formerly stood forgotten in the corner (Tolstoy 42) to make up for lost love. Afterwards, their arguments became more intense, and Pozdnyshev becomes polluted by jealousy (Tolstoy 42) once his wife s attention is no longer on him, knowing that he is losing control of the mastery of the gaze. According to Jeanette Bicknell, the author of the scholarly article Self Knowledge and the Limitations of Narrative, she views Pozdnyshev s ignorance of his own emotional states and unhappy marriage could stem from a lack of self knowledge (Bicknell 409). He expresses his fear of losing the mastery of the gaze through anger, stemming not from unhealthy attitudes toward sexuality, but from his frustration at his inability to control his own desire, and at his inability of controlling his wife s body (Bicknell 409). By getting angry with her for taking up hobbies, he doesn t see her as a human being, but an object that always needs to be managed by him through the mastery of the gaze. The Blockbuster Model In order to grasp a substantial and comprehensive understanding of the audiovisual spectacle of film, one must understand what genre is and the different ways in which genre operates. During our class discussions we learned that genre acts as a living organism. Thomas Schatz argues that genre like virtually any story, can be examined in terms of fundamental narrative components: plot, setting, and character (Schatz 21). Beyond these fundamental narrative components, Schatz states that genre film incorporates a specific cultural context where thematic conflicts are animated, intensified, and resolved by familiar characteristics (Schatz 21). Given that genres are considered a form of living organisms with a life cycle, we can argue that they carry the ability to evolve and grow into other previously unknown sub genres. Filmmakers are able to explore the possibilities within a certain genre and possibly create a subgenre that has never been explored prior. For instance, comedy is a well known genre in film and audiences have seen it develop into several other sub genres. An individual film has the ability to apply the traditional characteristics of a comedy film and combine it with other characteristics, which then transform it into a sub genre. One example of this is the military comedy sub genre. While many people may consider the topic of war to be grim or dark, filmmakers have created a sub genre that incorporates comedic tropes in order to ease the anxieties the audience has towards war. One could describe the characteristics of a military comedy as a film that incorporates the characteristics of a traditional comedy while adding widely shared attitudes towards war, such as being drafted and feeling afraid or out of place. Understanding genre is critical to understanding how cinema works. Studying the network of genres can help us easily identify and analyze films in a much greater detail. This ability to identify and analyze speaks to the larger understanding of cinema itself. Cinema is constantly reaching new milestones. A comprehensive understanding ... During these years, the Indian Removal Act was passed, and was the first major law within the time frame. This act, passed in 1830, stated that all the Indian tribes residing east of the Mississippi River needed to pack up and move to the west of the river, although the relocation was only voluntary. Jackson did this in the hopes that they would give in to the pressure, considering that he sided with the land hungry citizens eager to take their place. This was because the Americans wanted to settle in the lands occupied by the Indians, therefore requiring them to evacuate over one hundred thousand of them. Overall, the passing of this policy affected Jackson s political and social philosophy. To begin, Andrew Jackson had been planning for the removal of the Indians even before he took office. • 35. Inhumanity In Tuesdays With Morrie And Night There is only one way in which one can endure man s inhumanity to man and that is to try, in one s own life, to exemplify man s humanity to man Alan Paton. Neither of the characters in Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom, and Night by Elie Wiesel, had a choice about the inhumanity they faced. One was cursed with a fatal disease and the other was put in a death camp. Even though both of the main characters, Morrie and Elie, experienced copious amounts of inhumanity, they both found it in them to be humane. Both Tuesdays with Morrie and Night deal with cases of inhumanity and get through it by being humane to others. In Tuesdays with Morrie, the main character turns the inhumanity in his life around and is humane to others to make up for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Elie is in a concentration camp that forces him to face inhumanity everyday. Elie and the others in the camp never knew when they were going to face death, like Morrie. From day one Elie was dehumanized and treated like an animal. When he was taken from his home, he was placed in a cattle car. He was then given a number and stripped from his identity. The Nazis continually called him worthless and a pig. Elie questioned how anyone could be humane in a situation like this and said, Humanity? Humanity is not concerned with us. Today anything is allowed. Anything is possible, even these crematories (30), but despite all of the trauma and inhumanity Elie faced on a daily basis, he was humane to his father. Elie did everything in his power to stay alive for his father, similiar in a way to Mitch in Tuesdays with Morrie. Elie showed humanity to his father. In the beginning when they had to march everywhere, Shlomo, Elie s father, struggled with it. Like Morrie, Elie taught Shlomo how to march and to not get in trouble. Elie wanted the best for his father. When Elie s father was on his deathbed, Elie brought him food and water, even though Elie himself was starving. Elie did not give in to the inhumanity that was brought upon him. Elie chose to rise above it, just as Morrie ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Macro Sociology Sociologists analyze different levels of society from various perspectives. Due to Micro and Macro sociology we can look at the world from a smaller and larger scope. We zoom in on ourselves and then place the focus in broader context. Theories are like cameras there is such a wide collection with so many filters based on our preferences, which is why we should consider them all. Sociology has manifested itself into three distinct forms those being conflict, structural functionalist, and interactionist theories. For any beginner student it is easier to regard the function of these theories behaving like a tricycle. We need to include them all in order to move forward with our overall understanding of societal development. Karl Marx, one of the most studied sociologists (at least in high school), coined the idea of conflict theory. This concept specifically considered the economic aspects of society. It contradicted August Comte s previous century ideas of natural laws to social sciences. Marx believed that social change is fueled by the economy. He wrote the Communist Manifesto ... His views are clearly different compared to conflict theory since he examined the stability and interrelated parts of society. Spencer defined the main organs as social institutions that prioritized certain needs such as education, healthcare, religion, and government. This can be studied on a local or nationally known level. Emile Durkheim, Alfred Radcliffe Brown, and Robert Merton furthered their study of functioning continuity in society. All parts of society essentially the laws and policies must work together to preserve a dynamic equilibrium. Dysfunctions reduce solidity which makes critics assume that structural functionalism cannot measure social change ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Fuel Consumption Reduction Of Automobile Development 1.1 INTRODUCTION Not only to save energy but also to protect the global environment, fuel consumption reduction is main concern of automobile development. In development of vehicle body, it is essential to reduce drag for improving fuel consumption and driving performance. An aerodynamically purified body is not only aesthetically attractive but also it will help much to increase the vehicles appeal to the customer [1]. If a body of arbitrary shape, immerged in a large stationary mass of fluid is moved with constant velocity through the fluid, the body exerts a force to the fluid, which opposes the motion of the body [4]. Also the fluid exerts a force to the body as every action have equal and opposite direction. The force exerts on the body or the fluid results from the relative motion between the emerged body and its surroundings fluid. As such it makes no difference in the magnitude of the force whether the body through the stationary fluid or the fluid flows about the immerged body which is at rest [5]. In general, vehicles are known to be aerodynamically insufficient compare to other ground vehicles due to their large frontal areas and bluff body shapes. The insufficient aerodynamic shape results in excessive drag which leads to elevated fuel consumption rate [3]. A streamlined shape of vehicle is very important in reducing fuel demand by up to 7%. Vehicles with an aerodynamic shape use less fuel. Air flows easily over them and less energy is needed to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Personal Reflection On My Experience In My Life Entry 1. I didn t have a goal coming into class at first, but after hurting my toe over the weekend I decided that I would focus on doing my best at physical activities in spite of it. While I had some trouble with the walking and running portions of the exercises, I was mostly successful at completing them all. Also, during the warm up exercises I ve started to be able to relax my body more, I can now feel my upper arms start to touch the floor when I m laying down instead of just my hands, shoulders and elbows. This class involved doing some word association games in addition to more work on our open scenes. I didn t perform any open scenes in front of the class but I did do a few recitals of it with a partner, including with some circumstances given to us by the professor. While previously I found that I was very good at imagining my own circumstances for the scene and acting on those, I feel that I don t do quite as well when being directed. I think that in the future it will be important for me to learn to naturally use the circumstances I am given in my acting. Entry 2. Today my main goal was to remain motivated. For whatever reason I started to lose interest in the class around the time we started our Hey everybody exercise, got better afterwards and then gradually lost interest when the other students began work on their scenes and monologues until the end of class; so I suppose that I failed. Today s class included hot clapping, hey everybody, comic strip, night ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
