Safe Use of Long Acting Beta Agonist in Asthma Patients
Executive summary
There have been concerns among the safety of long acting Beta agonist referred to as LABA
therapy. This is after the long acting inhaled beta has been used in the treating of asthma since the
year 1990. In order to get information about the effect of long acting beta agonists, information was
extracted from authoritative journals that were written after the FDA s recommendation. These
journals were written in order to address the concerns that came after Asthma patients who had used
long term beta agonists when it came to the treatment of asthma (LoМ€tvall, 2012: 32). This paper
will argue about the safe use of long acting beta agonist in asthma patients and the recommendations
of its use.
Research methodology
The material for this research was gotten from various journals such as US National library of
medicine as well as other databases such as Medical research journal. The information from these
journals is credible as the journals are peer reviewed and scholarly. Since the introduction of the
extensive acting beta agonists, there has been an improvement for many people that live with
asthma (LoМ€tvall, 2012 39). The benefit to these people has been dramatic and consequently there
have been fewer asthma symptoms when it comes to rest with exercises, there are fewer night time
awakenings and less asthma burn ups. Source of concern
The source of concern when it comes to long acting beta agonists is the fact that it sometimes
causes severe asthma

Case Study Of Lancaster County Sheriff s Department
For a decade or more, the Lancaster County Sheriff s Department has had problems with
recruiting, retaining, and selecting the right deputies for their agency. Nevertheless, my data
gathering plan is to collect data from the Lancaster County Sheriff s Department deputies by
scheduling an interview with several deputies to obtain the following survey questions: Do
Lancaster County Sheriff s Department (LCSD) deputies treat people of all races and ethnicities
equally? Do LCSD do a good job keeping citizens safe? How safe do you feel at night walking in
your neighborhood? Do LCSD serve all areas within the county equally? Do LCSD do a good job
serving the neighborhoods within the county? Do the deputies engage in racial profiling?

A Interview On A Man Named Jack Bauwer Who Was An...
I conducted my interview on a man named Jack Bauwer who was an Afghanistan war veteran
which took place between 2001 and 2014 though he was there from 2001 to 2006. The major
purpose of the war was to counter terrorism in response to 9/11 attacks and it was known as
Operation Enduring Freedom. The combat mission conducted in Afghanistan was to eliminate and
weaken the Al Qaeda militia and their Talibansupporters. I met Mr. Bauwer through a friend while
we had gone for a swimming competition. Mr. Bauwer was Tony s neighbor at Inglewood
California. Tony Michaels, Kim and I were present at the time of the interview.
Memory Jogging
Mr Bauwer joined the army when he was 25 years old forced by circumstances to abandon his
studies at the university to provide for his family after his father, who was a police officer, was
killed in a shootout in an attempt to apprehend armed robbers who had been terrorizing residents.
Bauwer explained how life became tough for his mother who did not have a decent job especially
in meeting the family expenses and still pay school fees for the siblings. Jack had to sacrifice his
education to ensure his siblings went through school. It happened that at the same time the army
was recruiting new members into the force and that is how he joined the army. He underwent basic
combat training, which was really tough but he had no option but to persevere and face the
challenges as they came. Many of his counterparts quit in the process. Jack was enlisted in

Lutheranism And Anglicism Similarities
The branch of Christian that is Lutheranism was created and is very different from Anglicism.
There have to be many differences in the first place, because they were created in vastly
different places, and those places are very far apart. Like the Renaissance in Italy and the
northern Renaissance, they were different but still the same basic ideas of the Renaissance. The
different ideas of the Protestants were not only between Germany and England it was also
between Switzerland and England. For one the Church of England was started differently from the
two other religions. The Church of England was started for selfish and political reasons. King

Analysis Of Gloria Naylor s The Women Of Brewster Place
Within Gloria Naylor s The Women of Brewster Place and Amiri Baraka s Dutchman , there is a
heavy emphasis on society. Particularly how society influences interaction not just among African
Americans, but interactions among whites and African Americans as seen is Baraka s Dutchman.
However, both novels also continue to portray a reoccurring theme that has been prevalent within
this course, which is the struggle of African Americans in society. Throughout both works, society
plays a large role on the interactions that occur both interracially and intraracially. In The Women of
Brewster Place , Gloria Naylor represents many aspects that trouble African Americans faced during
an era where whites looked down upon them. Naylor places a larger emphasis on society due to the
living dynamic that is present during The Women of Brewster Place. Although, the novel is broken
down into several different narratives, which focuses on certain individuals, it portrays a sense of
community within each story told; therefore, linking society to each individual s attitude and
perspective. The community within Brewster place brings many different personalities together
from many different generations. The reason for this is due to the setting of Naylor s novel, which
takes place in a large community of migrant African Americans. Living in a community with people
who came from similar conditions causes the residents to bond over the hardships that many of
them have faced. This

Critical Theories Of Criminology
Introduction
In this paper, I will discuss conflict criminology, radical criminology, peacemaking criminology,
and postmodern criminology providing a comparison as well as a contrast to each.
Discussion
There are several theories developing critical theories of criminology, the first discussed in this
paper will be conflict theory (Bohm Vogel, 2011). The conflict theory is the inequality of
competing groups, moreover, the different social statuses of individuals. This theory compares the
differences in white collar crime to the crime of the blue collar class. White collar crime is mostly
money related crimes, including embezzlement, committed by the economically elite, conversely,
blue collar crime is considered more violent as well ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The structure of this societal hierarchy places a few individuals in the higher ranks of society with
the majority within the lower ranks, the proverbial winners as compared to the losers. This theory
bases crime upon the various class struggles to obtain wealth within an unequal economic
environment. The lower class struggles to obtain the same level of material wealth held by those
of the higher classes creating an extremely competitive environment leading to individuals taking
advantage of the weaker members of society to further their own level of wealth. The radical
theory defines crime as the deprivation of basic human rights, as individuals compete for a portion
of societal wealth in an unequally distributed market they become overly competitive with one
another leading to what is described as senseless violence.
The third theory discussed in this paper is the peacemaking criminology, this theory is a non
violent approach to change society through the transformations beginning at the individual level
(Bohm Vogel, 2011). The theorist of peacemaking view suffering as the cause of crime, expressing
the need for a change within society to become for aware of the needs of those less fortunate,
moreover, working together to resolve those issues. This theory views the acts of punishing
individuals for crimes committed as the source for continued criminal acts. A shift from

this forced General King to retreat with his 72,000 troops of American and Filipino Soldiers into

The Effect Of Wind Energy On Renewable Energy
Everyday witnesses increased demand in energy, which requires further investigations on available
sources of energy, especially renewable energy that was highlighted in the last decades as per
environmental and sustainability demand. Wind energy is one of the cleanest energies that
received the attention of researchers and investors because of its availability with low running cost.
According to the World Wind Energy Association (WWEA, 2015), wind energy is currently the
fastest growing source of electricity in the world, and wind powerinvestment worldwide is
expected to expand three fold, from about $18 billion in 2006 to $60 billion in 2016.
Although the use of wind energy backs to more than hundreds of years (the wind wheel of Heron
of Alexandria in the first century AD is the earliest known instance of using a wind driven wheel
to power a machine (Drachmann, 1961; Lohrmann, 1995)), it is yet an immature and growing
technology. In recent years, coastal and offshore wind turbines are growing fast, as an attractive
means for clean energy production. Due to the nature of the wind in offshore regions, that are
powerful and more uniform than inland winds, offshore wind turbines can produce energy
effectively (Musial and Butterfield, 2006). It should be noted that the extracted energy is
proportional to the cubic of the wind speed which means an increase in wind speed has a
significant influence on the amount of produced energy. In addition, it is more cost effective to place

impressive and beautifully observed, the entire group roughly 18 cms high. It features a young

crooked and the left leg extended with claws outspread. To provide further stabilising points of

Essay about Rent Control
Rent Control in New York: An Economic Analysis
Rent control refers to laws that limit the amounts of rent and the amounts that rent can be increased
in any year. There is no statewide rent control in the US, and all the rent control laws and
regulation are passed by cities. Most of the cities with rent control are located in New York,
California, and New Jersey. Washington, D.C. also has rent control.
Rent control first appeared in the United States in the early 1900s as a way of dealing with
exorbitant rent prices brought about by wartime housing emergencies and tight housing markets.
During this time, rent control was handled by the federal government. In the late 1940 s, the
federal rent control system was gradually scaled back ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In places with a rent control board or agency, the tenant usually doesn t have to take that risk. The
tenant can report the violation to the board or agency and ask for permission to withhold rent. In
some cities, if the condition of a rental property is very bad, the board or agency can take over,
collect the rents, and make repairs.
Because rent control sometimes ends or the rent can be raised when a tenant is evicted, landlords
may abuse the right to evict tenants. Most cities that have rent control laws limit the reasons for an
eviction. A landlordcan t give the tenant a 30 day or 60 day notice that the tenant must leave. The
landlord must have a good reason for the eviction such as nonpayment of rent, breach of the rental
agreement like pets that aren t allowed, or illegal activity.
The broad powers of rent control boards and agencies mean that many more issues and disputes
about landlord tenant issues are resolved in informal hearings instead of in courts during eviction
proceedings. Some cities provide mediation services as well, to help landlords and tenants work out
their differences.
Rent control laws were popular in the 1970s into the 1980s, but organized landlord opposition to
the laws caused some of them to be repealed or weakened after the late 1980s. In the places where
rent control still exists, it has usually been affected by two kinds of decontrol. The first is called

Symbolism In Whale Rider
In the film Whale Rider, the whale represents life and death. The whale represents life because it
is the mammal on which Paikea s great ancestor rode across the ocean reaching New Zealand

the Maori people would not be on the island they live on if Paikea the great ancestor had not ridden

Pros And Cons Of Police Demand
A1. Factors that are influencing labor demand.
The Mayor of the city has enacted a new policy of increasing police patrols in high crime areas in
an attempt to reduce crime rates. To meet the demands of this policy, 25 additional police officers
are required. Due to staff shortages, the department has been under public scrutiny for its excessive
work hours and overtime burdens that the current staff handles to meet demands.
The police department is experiencing an aging workforce as the average age on the force is 45
years old. Within the next few years 24% of the current force will be eligible for retirement, which
will leave vacancies that will need to be back filled.
An additional factor that affects labor demand is the current labor union contract that requires the
department to provide opportunity to promote from within. Between vacancies left behind from
retirement and promotion changes, it has been noted that approximately one quarter of the current
force will need to be replaced. These three factors increase demand for a large number of new
recruits in this department.
A2. Factors that are influencing labor supply.
Fulfilling the city s need to hire new police officers has been a challenge. One factor that affects
the labor supply is an aging workforce. Some of the best quality candidates come from recent
college graduates and former military personnel. College age adults are choosing to attend out of
state schools because higher than normal tuition

Lucid Dreams Essay
The purpose of this study was to see if political views or your personal background has anything
to do with the types of dreams that you have. There were women and men that participated, by
personal or internet surveys. The questions were asking general questions like age and race and
the types and the frequency of your dreams. There were 700 people to do the interviews and the
researchers chose the liberal and conservative men and women. There were 234 participants in
total, conservative and liberal men and women, more liberalism. One of the reasons for this
research was how your dreams were based off things that were important to you in real life. There
are four sets of sleeping, which are general sleeping, Frequency of Memorable Dreams and... Show

The tests were based on emotions and different activities, like sleep paralysis, snakes, and
terrorism. The results were very similar, but Liberal women had a higher percentage on most of
the dreams. Liberals remembered sexual experiences better and are more open to talk about
them, conservatives remembered the nightmares. Conservative men had more lucid dreams
which is when you are dreaming and you know you are dreaming. Researchers interpreted that
because most men will tell themselves that their nightmare was just a dream. The next set was
the percentage of Nightmares and Bizarre Dreams that each group had. Liberals had more bizarre
dream that they could recall all of the details, it was something that was not ordinary.
Conservatives had more nightmares dealing with negative emotions. Conservatives have more
mundane dreams which are dreams that are dull or lack interest. The last set was the Analysis of
Political Dreams. Liberals had more political dreams and they were bizarre nightmares and mean.
The dreams would seem real and it had already happened, but seemed as if the participant was
living in that moment again in a different way. Conservatives dreams about politics were good and

The Giver s Flowers For Algernon
A central theme in Flowers For Algernon is that you don t have to change who you are to fit in
with others. You can be yourself and still fit in with the crowd. In the text, Charlie wrote Maybe
if I ask him he will tell me how I can think now that Im suppose to get smart. What do smart
people think about. Fancy things I suppose. I wish I knew some fancy things alredy (Keyes 225

about fancy things, such as smart people do. Also, in the text Charlie stated I said I asked pepul

All you need is bravery and determination. The theme from The Giver and the the theme from
Flowers for Algernon can have an impact on anyone s life but mostly teens. For kids and teens all
around the world, fitting in is one of the hardest things to do. People think that they need to
change themselves to fit in. Girls think they need to wear makeup to look pretty. Guys think
they need to be masculine. Everyone around the world is pressured by society to be someone
they re not. Lots of people say that society has killed the teenager . To me that quote means that
society gives us these certain images that we are supposed to strive for. For example, skinny,
tall, perfect teeth, no acne, etc. As teens we are at the age of wanting to fit in and be better but
society is ruining how we view ourselves and the ways we think. Also another thing is to just be
yourself. If you be yourself, the right people will come to you. For example, let s say someone
starts to wear makeup because her friends are wearing it, or someone said that she was ugly
without it. She ll start to become a person she doesn t want to be. She ll start to become
influenced by her friends and the people around her. Then she ll stop wearing it one day and
then she ll continue to stop wearing it for a while. She might get hatred, compliments on her
natural beauty, or her friends won t even care. See what she did? She stopped pretending to be a
character in a movie, and started being herself. All she needed was bravery and determination.
As you can see, the themes in Flowers For Algernon and in The Giver relate to the real life we are
facing today. If personally myself could say something to kids and teens, I would say to just be
yourself and don t change who you are. The right people will come to you if you are brave and

Lord Of The Flies Literary Analysis
The Beast Within The Lord of the Flies portrays the years of adolescence in a way not commonly
perceived. In the novel, William Golding depicts childhood as times of tribulation and terror when
the children are put in certain adult like situations. Without mature role models to look up to,
children turn to other children for leadership. Additionally, when given the chance children would
rather play around than do manual labor. Lastly, children stray to savagery without rules or social
boundaries. Therefore, Goulding effectively portrayed the attitudes of adolescents which shaped the
meaning of the book as a whole. When children are without adultauthority, they look for an adult
like person for leadership. In the beginning of the book, when the boys realize they are all alone,
they to Ralph for leadership. A quote to represent this is, But there was a stillness about Ralph as
he sat that marked him out: there was his size, and attractive appearance; and most obscurely, yet
most powerfully, there was the conch. The being that had blown that, had sat waiting for them on
the platform with the delicate thing balanced on his knees, was set apart (Golding 15). This
quote shows how the boys are drawn to Ralph because of his physical characteristics and because
he had set a rule, which was to give attention to the person holding the conch. As a result of there
being no adults on the island, the boys are be attracted to Ralph as their leader. However, towards

Firstly, access to medical care. Years ago medical care in the 19th century was not very good.
The hospitals were very basic, many beds in a large room (ward) there were very rarely curtains
around the beds for privacy because in those days clothes were short and extra material would be
made into clothing. Also, they may not have been very clean, they were hygienic to work in but
for people that were very ill they may of made that person more poorly. Clinics were similar; they
had the basic bed to check patients on and the small amount of medicines. Not all the time did they
have the correct suitable medication for patients. So some patients may have had to suffer for
longer than what they should off because it was hard to get medication that was going to cure

Senior Vice President of People Operations at Google, Laszlo Bock, discusses the extensive

Google still uses to this day. The first principle Google uses is setting high standard; recruiters

Describe How The Sporophyte Stages Of A Plant Life Cycle...
Chapter29
1.Describe how the sporophyte and gametophyte stages of a plant life cycle differ.
The life cycles of all land plants alternate between two generations of distinct multicellular
organisms which are gametophytes and sporophytes. Each generation give rise to the other
otherwise known as alternation of generations which is when the life cycle includes both
multicellular haploid organisms and multicellular diploid organisms. Gametophyte is a gamete
producing, multicellular haploid (1n). It is named for its production by mitosis of haploid gametes
such as egg and sperm, that fuse during fertilization, forming diploid zygotes. This mitotic division
of the zygote produces a multicellular diploid sporophyte, which is a spore producing plant. Nature
sporophyte produces haploid spores, which are reproductive cells that can develope into a new
haploid organism without fusing with another cell. Mitotic division of the spore cell produces a
new multicellular gametophyte, and the cycle begins again.
2.Explain why most bryophytes grow close to the ground.
Bryophytes are nonvascular plants that are seedless, and do not form a monophyletic group (a
clade). There favorable habitat is in moist soil and or tree bark which allows them to germinate and
grow into gametophytes. They generally form into ground hugging carpet, because of the
bryophytes lack of vascular tissue which is needed to transport water and nutrients in long
distances. The thin structure allows bryophyte organs to

Water Pollution For Drinking Water
INTRODUCTION
All citizens should have access safe water. On January 9, 2014, nearly 300,000 citizens in the
greater Charleston area were confronted with a situation where their water was no longer safe. This
devastating situation was the result of a chemical spill of 4 methylcyclohexanemethanol (MCHM)
into the Elk River just upstream from the West VirginiaAmerican Water (WVAW) treatment plant.
In response to the spill, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) was asked to
determine a safe level of MCHM in the drinking water. Using available toxicity data, which was
minimal, the CDC determined the safety level to be 1 ppm MCHM. Soon after the CDC followed
with a warning that out of an abundance of caution pregnant women should not drink the water.
This message, rightfully, resulted in much community concern and anxiety. This warning generated
concerns about other vulnerable populations, such as young children, pregnant women who had
drank the water before the warning, and about the long term health effects on babies born exposed
pregnant women.
This memo addresses safe levels of exposure for pregnant women and families contemplating
having children, as well as the health effects on pregnancies of the citizens exposed to the chemical
spill. Additionally, this memo discusses the broader context of public health in the community as it
relates to environmental safety and justice.

Evolution Of Pheromones In Dogs
Smell: Dogs use smell to identify individuals, determine gender and recognise another dog s
mood. Their olfactory sense is said to be 40 times more sensitive than a human s (Wiki, 2015).
They are able to use pheromones for communication, which are endogenous chemicals that carry
messages (Hedges.S, 2014). Different chemicals are secreted when dogs are angry, fearful or
confident (Wiki, 2015). Different chemicals are secreted in females which give information on
whether the bitch is pregnant, has recently given birth or is in her oestrus cycle (Wiki, 2015).
Many of these pheromones are found dissolved in the animalsurine, male dogs prefer to urinate on
vertical surfaces as high as they can as the sent will carry further (Wiki, 2015). Pheromones are

Assumptions In The Film Atonement By Joe Wright
Assumptions are necessary for us to function as humans, if we did not make assumptions we
would have died out as a species long ago. In the film Atonement , director Joe Wright tells the
story of a young Briony who has chosen to tell a terrible lie, one that will forever disconnect her
from her sister, her happiness, and herself. This text begs the question of assumptions; why we
need to understand them, why we need to know when to admit they are wrong, and why we need
to be able to acceptthe consequences of them. The topic and overall meaning that this idea holds
conveys a message that resonates with the idea that assumptions are sometimes a major factor in
how individuals go about taking responsibilityfor themselves. Until an individual can take
responsibility for the actions resulting from their own assumed reality, their attempts to take
responsibility for themselves will ultimately fail.
If an individual s assumption is forced to fit into reality, that may give them the obligation and
personal responsibility to reshape reality to fit their assumptions. As a thirteen year old Briony was
a very curious girl, but she was interested more specifically in the nature of adults. There is a scene
that Briony observes, where Cecilia and Robbie are arguing next to a fountain, and then Cecilia
jumps into the fountain as Robbie watches. Although Briony watches the events out of curiosity,
she does not grasp the understanding of why the adults act the way they do,

Not All Deviant Acts Are Criminal
Deviance affirms cultural values and norms, it also clarifies moral boundaries, promotes social
unity and provides jobs to control deviance. Deviant behaviour is contextual in nature in that
cultural differences make it very problematic to define deviance. One may ask this question on
deviance, are humans genetically predisposed at birth with the characteristics that make them act
deviantly, or do the people around them influence them to act this way. This writer seeks to
expound on the fact that deviance is not only criminal and will also highlight the causes and
circumstances where individuals end up exhibiting deviant behaviour. Deviance is defined by

The Christian religion practiced in this writer s society also promotes the inequality by
stipulating that men are the heads of the household and women are supposed to be submissive to
their man. This is explained in the bible used by the Christians in Ephesians 5 verses 25 and 26.
In this verse, women are supposed to be submissive to their husbands whilst the husbands are the
heads. The interpretation is that the man has overall say over his wife or to some extent even
sisters. This status usually ends up with the man being abusive and inequity also takes place. In
reaction and to some extent retaliation, the women become deviant. They may stop respecting the
man, they may start behaving in a wild manner, dress the opposite and many other contrary
actions that to counter the patriarchy kind of rule. In the social set up, this deviance will not be
criminal but results in some labelling. The radical feminists argue that patriarchy promotes
deviance. In this writer s society, women serve men in all aspects be it household chores and
sexual conjugal rights because of the norms of the area which are highly patriarchal. The resultant
effect is that man are in most cases abusive to the extent that they batter their wives if they find no
cooked food at home or if their clothes are not washed and ironed properly. As a result of the
abuse, women become rebellious and act otherwise resulting in them being labelled deviant because
of non conformity with societal values

Female Role Portrayals Not Matching The Public Expectations
There have been many ethical discussions about female role portrayals not matching the public
expectations i.e. the female characteristics been narrowly described and disapprovingly presented
in a stereotypical manner such as not intelligent, fragile, irrational, decorative, submissive and
subservient to men (Courtney, AE Lockeretz, SW 1971; Venkatesan Losco 1975; Belkaoui

But somehow, the recent studies showed the good looking female endorsers are employed
effectively, strictly matching to the product type (Lin Yeh 2009). However, Shields (1997 cited
in Carpenter Edison p.7) have argued that These messages are used to sell everything from
cosmetics to cars to beverages, provide a prescription for how women should look and be looked
at, how they should feel, and how they are expected to act.
Furthermore specialists on feminist movements also debate that previously advertising
illustrations and expressions of female parts were more of solid signs of objectification and
representative of male desire where women were appeared to be more controlled than men under
the societal expectations (Dvir et al., 1995; Rayburn et al., 1999 cited in Lin Yeh 2009). But few
experts propose that the modern role depictions are neither excessively prevalent nor necessarily
archetypal of typical feminine roles (Courtney and Sarah 1971; Whipple and Courtney, 1985; Zhou
and Chen, 1997 cited in Lin Yeh 2009).
Even today, the recent studies suggest that advertisements do not reflect the contemporary gender
roles and advertisers still incorporate clichГ©d images that no longer exist (Zotos Tsichla 2014).
There has been a gap to understand whether this way of representation is due to cultural effects and

AI believe that peaceful resistance to laws positively impacts a free society because it allows
people to say how they feel, and they do not have to go to extreme measures to feel like they are

to be heard by their government and want to have a say. Peaceful resistance has been around since
before Mahatma Gandhi s time, however he strongly believed in it. He believed in peaceful

By the people being allowed to peacefully resist government programs or decisions, the people
still feel like they have a say in how the country is run like it was many years ago. Peaceful
resistance all shows others that you do not need to be strong or own a weapon to feel heard. On
December 1, 1955, Rosa Parks made a perfect example of how a peaceful resistance does make a
difference. Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat at the front of the bus for a white man, so she

Rosa Parks was very well known after that day because she used her freedom of speech to say

since the 1970s. Krill feed on the algae which are found under the surface of the sea ice. The
Antarctic Peninsula, an important breeding ground for the krill, has experienced an unusual
shrinkage of sea ice. It has been intensely advocated that enhanced UV B radiation

Persuading their Mistresses in The Flea and To His Coy Mistress
Examine the ways in which the poets in The Flea and To His Coy
Mistress try to persuade their mistresses.
Both The Flea by John Donne and To His Coy Mistress by Andrew
Marvell are seduction poems, written by the poets to seduce their mistresses. Both have three
stanzas and a basic couplet rhyming structure. Donne and Marvell are metaphysical poets from
the 17th century. They have taken simple ideas and stretched them far for example, using a flea
as a symbol of union. They have made philosophical poems about simple facts of life for example,
the fear of death seen in To His Coy Mistress . The similarity seen between these poems is quite
surprising the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The flea is the subject of much of what the poet talks about, and the imagery used is interesting. He
uses the flea to convince his mistress of his love for her, and to persuade her to have sex with him.
In To His Coy
Mistress there is no one object used to symbolise the love, but interesting and significant imagery
is used often, and to great effect. Different images are used to persuade the poet s mistress that to
sleep with him would be a good thing.
In stanza 1 of The Flea we see as the poet begins by trying to convince his mistress with the idea
that sex is not an important thing. He claims that the flea has already mixed their blood, after he
bit them, so they re already together in that way, And in this flea our two bloods mingled be. In
this stanza, the poet has taken a firm, instructive manner the first line reads Mark but this flea
and mark in this . This is an instruction, which tells us how the poet is feeling: confidant, sure and
certain. He describes what she is denying him as little , which follows with his persuasive
argument to her that sex is a small unimportant thing. There is an image of pregnancy as Donne
describes the flea as pamper d swells with one blood made of two . Here is talking about what
could happen if they did have sex; but reading it from the angle of a biting flea, giving it a seedy
almost repulsive edge. This stanza is rounded up,

Was Raleigh Tate Justified In The Trial
Sheriff Tate accidentally stole Arthur s right to be legally protected. Sheriff Tate might not have
been the best sheriff for Maycomb. He lies, tampers with evidence, and bends the law. He also lets
his emotions control his actions and doesn t think things thoroughly. The death of Bob Ewell was
justified because he has done some horrible things.
Sheriff Tate might have some of the traits and qualities of a good sheriff. However, would a
good sheriff lie, bend the law, or tamper with evidence. When Mayella claimed she was sexually
abused Sheriff Tate didn t take her to see a doctor. He claimed No sir when Atticus asked But
you didn t call a doctor? While you were there did anyone send for one, fetch one, carry her to
one? (224). Mayella could ve been hurt and they could ve had more evidence, but instead he
decided not to get her a doctor. Sheriff Tate also tampered with evidence when Bob Ewell was
killed. He switched the knives around and took the one that killed Bob Ewell. Then he insisted

He doesn t think things through when his emotions take control. When Tom Robinson was
arrested, he didn t even question him. He confessed that by saying She identified him as the one,
so I took him in. That s all there was to it. (223). He did that because he was trying to protect Bob
Ewell. Sheriff Tate and Bob Ewell most likely served together in the war. He ended up putting
his feelings in front of the facts. When Sheriff Tate made Atticus shot the dog when it s his job
to. He even tried to convince him by saying for God sake Mr. Finch look where he is miss and
you ll go straight into the Radley s house I can t shoot that well and you know it. (127). He also
yelled at Atticus when there really was no need to. He got said God damn it, I m not thinking of
Jem (368). There really was no need to get all frustrated like he did. When his emotions he doesn t

Islamic Women Vs Western Feminism Essay
Although Western feminism started in the 1900s, yet, it didn t reach the Islamic world until most
recently, a couple of hundred years later than the West. Despite the fact that both of the feminism
movements come from totally different back grounds, and they are affected by different history and
culture, still, both of them aimed for women s best interests. Muslim women were profoundly
feeling aggrieved by the discrimination they have against them. They stereotypical reputation about
them in the West, and their presentation in the Western media didn t help either. They started and
supported a new fight to regain themselves the equal status they were granted by Islamcenturies ago.
Muslim women didn t like to be looked at as being backward and oppressed by men in a male
dominant world. According to the feminist historian Margot Badran, Islamic feminismis a feminist
discourse and practice articulated within an Islamic paradigm. Islamic feminism, which derives its
understanding and mandate from the Qur an, seeks rights and justice for women, and for men, in
the totality of their existence. (Badran, 2001)
To understand how Islamic feminism is different than the Western feminism, Hosseini suggested
that we can find the answers by:
examining the dynamics of Islamic feminism and its potential in the Muslim world. It is difficult
and perhaps futile to put the emerging feminist voices in Islam into neat categories and to try to
generate a definition that reflects the diversity of

Watches In The Military
Egyptian and Babylonian astronomers used the sundial as a primitive form of today s smart watch.
Train conductors have utilized pocket watches to maintain a tight and precise schedule due to their
accurate time keeping. Watches in the military have components such as tachometers, barometers,
and atomic timekeepers that aid in more than just timekeeping. Wall Street uses watches to
coordinate trades and exchanges in stock. Watches are depended upon all over the world without
being thought of as much. When a wristwatch is used every day continually its value doubles not
only in sentimental value, but the rarity of the timepiece increases.

feature of the mechanical watch is the crown as it is used to wind and power the watch with coils

The Purpose Of OSHA Safety Standards
What is the purpose of OSHA safety standards? Do you think that businesses would take
substantial safety precautions without the imposition of such standards? Does compliance with
OSHA safety standards increase the cost of doing business in the United States? Why, or why
not? Employers are responsible for providing a safe and healthy workplace for their employees.
OSHA s role is to ensure the safety and health of America s workers by setting and enforcing
standards. This can be attained through provision of training, outreach, education, establishing
partnerships and encouraging continuous improvement in workplace safety and health. It is
advisable that any business take substantial safety precautions without imposition of the standards
because at the end of the day both employers and workers want to go home safe and healthy in
order to be able to resume productivity during future tasks. American employers and workers want
safe and healthy work places. They want everyone on the job to go home whole and healthy each
day. In accordance with the determination to make that dream possible, OSHA is committed to
assuring so far as possible that every worker and woman in the nation works in safe and healthy
environments. OSHA believes that providing workers with a safe workplace is central to their
ability to enjoy health, security and the opportunity to achieve the American dream. OSHA seeks to
reduce unnecessary rules, regulations, and red tape. It is eliminating thousands

Acadia Research Paper
The Acadia, launched in 1913 out of Newcastle, England was the first vessel that was designed to
handle the cold, ice filled waters to specifically survey Canada s northern waters, such as the
Hudson Bay or the south shore of Novia Scotia. This ship helped pioneer hydrographic research by
taking measurements around Canadas Arctic waters at the beginning of her career. The last
operation this ship was used for was to chart the coast of Newfoundland, and these up to date
charts replaced those that were a hundred years old. The Acadia may have started as just a research
vessel, but once war came around it was adapted. From 1916 to 1919, she was a patrol and escort
vessel; then in 1917 she was damaged in the Halifax Explosion while being

A Common Motif Of Mutual Death Essay
We are all the same, no one is better no one is less. We are all struggling to survive; be kind. That
s the rhetoric my parents so heavily ingrained in my mind. I was raised to take this passive
ideology and grow my life out of well intended passivism. Same became the degradation of
different; Struggles became insignificant and rooted in the pretense that everyone faces the same
challenges. So, I went through the motions stagnant and unmoved. Racismbecame unreal,
unfathomable and unlogical. I looked at St. Louis, my home, without truly seeing the deep
existence of division the deep truth of what it really holds. Like the Van Boucle painting, a
common motif of mutual death can be seen in the life of my home town. His strokes paint dead
turkeys all vaguely touching each other, as they are set up in different positions. Some are further
away from others, but all are at least a part of a pair. Like this image, the oil spills into blood and
death touches us all; linking our existence; linking the streets of St. Louis.
Separate is not equal Brown v. Board The legacy of slavery and Jim Crow was something I never
understood or clearly saw as a child and teenager. As a young child I lived in the areas now more
associated with the racist term ghetto . My parents tell me about the influence of gangs and crime
that overcame their older neighborhoods. Then the idea of black and these neighborhoods became
subconsciously and problematically synonymous. But my nomadic

  • 2. Safe Use of Long Acting Beta Agonist in Asthma Patients Executive summary There have been concerns among the safety of long acting Beta agonist referred to as LABA therapy. This is after the long acting inhaled beta has been used in the treating of asthma since the year 1990. In order to get information about the effect of long acting beta agonists, information was extracted from authoritative journals that were written after the FDA s recommendation. These journals were written in order to address the concerns that came after Asthma patients who had used long term beta agonists when it came to the treatment of asthma (LoМ€tvall, 2012: 32). This paper will argue about the safe use of long acting beta agonist in asthma patients and the recommendations of its use. Research methodology The material for this research was gotten from various journals such as US National library of medicine as well as other databases such as Medical research journal. The information from these journals is credible as the journals are peer reviewed and scholarly. Since the introduction of the extensive acting beta agonists, there has been an improvement for many people that live with asthma (LoМ€tvall, 2012 39). The benefit to these people has been dramatic and consequently there have been fewer asthma symptoms when it comes to rest with exercises, there are fewer night time awakenings and less asthma burn ups. Source of concern The source of concern when it comes to long acting beta agonists is the fact that it sometimes causes severe asthma ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I conducted my interview on a man named Jack Bauwer who was an Afghanistan war veteran which took place between 2001 and 2014 though he was there from 2001 to 2006. The major purpose of the war was to counter terrorism in response to 9/11 attacks and it was known as Operation Enduring Freedom. The combat mission conducted in Afghanistan was to eliminate and weaken the Al Qaeda militia and their Talibansupporters. I met Mr. Bauwer through a friend while we had gone for a swimming competition. Mr. Bauwer was Tony s neighbor at Inglewood California. Tony Michaels, Kim and I were present at the time of the interview. Memory Jogging Mr Bauwer joined the army when he was 25 years old forced by circumstances to abandon his studies at the university to provide for his family after his father, who was a police officer, was killed in a shootout in an attempt to apprehend armed robbers who had been terrorizing residents. Bauwer explained how life became tough for his mother who did not have a decent job especially in meeting the family expenses and still pay school fees for the siblings. Jack had to sacrifice his education to ensure his siblings went through school. It happened that at the same time the army was recruiting new members into the force and that is how he joined the army. He underwent basic combat training, which was really tough but he had no option but to persevere and face the challenges as they came. Many of his counterparts quit in the process. • 7. Analysis Of Gloria Naylor s The Women Of Brewster Place Within Gloria Naylor s The Women of Brewster Place and Amiri Baraka s Dutchman , there is a heavy emphasis on society. Particularly how society influences interaction not just among African Americans, but interactions among whites and African Americans as seen is Baraka s Dutchman. However, both novels also continue to portray a reoccurring theme that has been prevalent within this course, which is the struggle of African Americans in society. Throughout both works, society plays a large role on the interactions that occur both interracially and intraracially. In The Women of Brewster Place , Gloria Naylor represents many aspects that trouble African Americans faced during an era where whites looked down upon them. Naylor places a larger emphasis on society due to the living dynamic that is present during The Women of Brewster Place. Although, the novel is broken down into several different narratives, which focuses on certain individuals, it portrays a sense of community within each story told; therefore, linking society to each individual s attitude and perspective. The community within Brewster place brings many different personalities together from many different generations. The reason for this is due to the setting of Naylor s novel, which takes place in a large community of migrant African Americans. Discussion There are several theories developing critical theories of criminology, the first discussed in this paper will be conflict theory (Bohm Vogel, 2011). The conflict theory is the inequality of competing groups, moreover, the different social statuses of individuals. This theory compares the differences in white collar crime to the crime of the blue collar class. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The structure of this societal hierarchy places a few individuals in the higher ranks of society with the majority within the lower ranks, the proverbial winners as compared to the losers. This theory bases crime upon the various class struggles to obtain wealth within an unequal economic environment. The lower class struggles to obtain the same level of material wealth held by those of the higher classes creating an extremely competitive environment leading to individuals taking advantage of the weaker members of society to further their own level of wealth. The radical theory defines crime as the deprivation of basic human rights, as individuals compete for a portion of societal wealth in an unequally distributed market they become overly competitive with one another leading to what is described as senseless violence. The third theory discussed in this paper is the peacemaking criminology, this theory is a non violent approach to change society through the transformations beginning at the individual level (Bohm Vogel, 2011). The theorist of peacemaking view suffering as the cause of crime, expressing the need for a change within society to become for aware of the needs of those less fortunate, moreover, working together to resolve those issues. This theory views the acts of punishing individuals for crimes committed as the source for continued criminal acts. A shift from ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 16. The Effect Of Wind Energy On Renewable Energy Everyday witnesses increased demand in energy, which requires further investigations on available sources of energy, especially renewable energy that was highlighted in the last decades as per environmental and sustainability demand. Wind energy is one of the cleanest energies that received the attention of researchers and investors because of its availability with low running cost. According to the World Wind Energy Association (WWEA, 2015), wind energy is currently the fastest growing source of electricity in the world, and wind powerinvestment worldwide is expected to expand three fold, from about $18 billion in 2006 to $60 billion in 2016. Although the use of wind energy backs to more than hundreds of years (the wind wheel of Heron of Alexandria in the first century AD is the earliest known instance of using a wind driven wheel to power a machine (Drachmann, 1961; Lohrmann, 1995)), it is yet an immature and growing technology. In recent years, coastal and offshore wind turbines are growing fast, as an attractive means for clean energy production. Due to the nature of the wind in offshore regions, that are powerful and more uniform than inland winds, offshore wind turbines can produce energy effectively (Musial and Butterfield, 2006). It should be noted that the extracted energy is proportional to the cubic of the wind speed which means an increase in wind speed has a significant influence on the amount of produced energy. There is no statewide rent control in the US, and all the rent control laws and regulation are passed by cities. Most of the cities with rent control are located in New York, California, and New Jersey. Washington, D.C. also has rent control. Rent control first appeared in the United States in the early 1900s as a way of dealing with exorbitant rent prices brought about by wartime housing emergencies and tight housing markets. In places with a rent control board or agency, the tenant usually doesn t have to take that risk. The tenant can report the violation to the board or agency and ask for permission to withhold rent. In some cities, if the condition of a rental property is very bad, the board or agency can take over, collect the rents, and make repairs. Because rent control sometimes ends or the rent can be raised when a tenant is evicted, landlords may abuse the right to evict tenants. Most cities that have rent control laws limit the reasons for an eviction. A landlordcan t give the tenant a 30 day or 60 day notice that the tenant must leave. The landlord must have a good reason for the eviction such as nonpayment of rent, breach of the rental agreement like pets that aren t allowed, or illegal activity. The broad powers of rent control boards and agencies mean that many more issues and disputes about landlord tenant issues are resolved in informal hearings instead of in courts during eviction proceedings. Some cities provide mediation services as well, to help landlords and tenants work out their differences. Rent control laws were popular in the 1970s into the 1980s, but organized landlord opposition to the laws caused some of them to be repealed or weakened after the late 1980s. • 21. Pros And Cons Of Police Demand A1. Factors that are influencing labor demand. The Mayor of the city has enacted a new policy of increasing police patrols in high crime areas in an attempt to reduce crime rates. To meet the demands of this policy, 25 additional police officers are required. Due to staff shortages, the department has been under public scrutiny for its excessive work hours and overtime burdens that the current staff handles to meet demands. The police department is experiencing an aging workforce as the average age on the force is 45 years old. Within the next few years 24% of the current force will be eligible for retirement, which will leave vacancies that will need to be back filled. An additional factor that affects labor demand is the current labor union contract that requires the department to provide opportunity to promote from within. Between vacancies left behind from retirement and promotion changes, it has been noted that approximately one quarter of the current force will need to be replaced. These three factors increase demand for a large number of new recruits in this department. A2. Factors that are influencing labor supply. Fulfilling the city s need to hire new police officers has been a challenge. One factor that affects the labor supply is an aging workforce. There were women and men that participated, by personal or internet surveys. The questions were asking general questions like age and race and the types and the frequency of your dreams. There were 700 people to do the interviews and the researchers chose the liberal and conservative men and women. There were 234 participants in total, conservative and liberal men and women, more liberalism. The tests were based on emotions and different activities, like sleep paralysis, snakes, and terrorism. The results were very similar, but Liberal women had a higher percentage on most of the dreams. Conservative men had more lucid dreams which is when you are dreaming and you know you are dreaming. Researchers interpreted that because most men will tell themselves that their nightmare was just a dream. The next set was the percentage of Nightmares and Bizarre Dreams that each group had. Liberals had more bizarre dream that they could recall all of the details, it was something that was not ordinary. Conservatives had more nightmares dealing with negative emotions. Conservatives have more mundane dreams which are dreams that are dull or lack interest. The last set was the Analysis of Political Dreams. Liberals had more political dreams and they were bizarre nightmares and mean. The theme from The Giver and the the theme from Flowers for Algernon can have an impact on anyone s life but mostly teens. For kids and teens all around the world, fitting in is one of the hardest things to do. People think that they need to change themselves to fit in. Girls think they need to wear makeup to look pretty. Guys think they need to be masculine. Everyone around the world is pressured by society to be someone they re not. Lots of people say that society has killed the teenager . To me that quote means that society gives us these certain images that we are supposed to strive for. For example, skinny, tall, perfect teeth, no acne, etc. As teens we are at the age of wanting to fit in and be better but society is ruining how we view ourselves and the ways we think. Also another thing is to just be yourself. If you be yourself, the right people will come to you. For example, let s say someone starts to wear makeup because her friends are wearing it, or someone said that she was ugly without it. She ll start to become a person she doesn t want to be. She ll start to become influenced by her friends and the people around her. Then she ll stop wearing it one day and then she ll continue to stop wearing it for a while. She might get hatred, compliments on her natural beauty, or her friends won t even care. See what she did? She stopped pretending to be a character in a movie, and started being herself. All she needed was bravery and determination. As you can see, the themes in Flowers For Algernon and in The Giver relate to the real life we are facing today. If personally myself could say something to kids and teens, I would say to just be yourself and don t change who you are. The right people will come to you if you are brave and ... • 24. Lord Of The Flies Literary Analysis The Beast Within The Lord of the Flies portrays the years of adolescence in a way not commonly perceived. In the novel, William Golding depicts childhood as times of tribulation and terror when the children are put in certain adult like situations. Without mature role models to look up to, children turn to other children for leadership. Additionally, when given the chance children would rather play around than do manual labor. Lastly, children stray to savagery without rules or social boundaries. Therefore, Goulding effectively portrayed the attitudes of adolescents which shaped the meaning of the book as a whole. When children are without adultauthority, they look for an adult like person for leadership. In the beginning of the book, when the boys realize they are all alone, they to Ralph for leadership. A quote to represent this is, But there was a stillness about Ralph as he sat that marked him out: there was his size, and attractive appearance; and most obscurely, yet most powerfully, there was the conch. The being that had blown that, had sat waiting for them on the platform with the delicate thing balanced on his knees, was set apart (Golding 15). This quote shows how the boys are drawn to Ralph because of his physical characteristics and because he had set a rule, which was to give attention to the person holding the conch. As a result of there being no adults on the island, the boys are be attracted to Ralph as their leader. However, towards the end of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 29. Describe How The Sporophyte Stages Of A Plant Life Cycle... Chapter29 1.Describe how the sporophyte and gametophyte stages of a plant life cycle differ. The life cycles of all land plants alternate between two generations of distinct multicellular organisms which are gametophytes and sporophytes. Each generation give rise to the other otherwise known as alternation of generations which is when the life cycle includes both multicellular haploid organisms and multicellular diploid organisms. Gametophyte is a gamete producing, multicellular haploid (1n). It is named for its production by mitosis of haploid gametes such as egg and sperm, that fuse during fertilization, forming diploid zygotes. This mitotic division of the zygote produces a multicellular diploid sporophyte, which is a spore producing plant. Nature sporophyte produces haploid spores, which are reproductive cells that can develope into a new haploid organism without fusing with another cell. Mitotic division of the spore cell produces a new multicellular gametophyte, and the cycle begins again. 2.Explain why most bryophytes grow close to the ground. Bryophytes are nonvascular plants that are seedless, and do not form a monophyletic group (a clade). There favorable habitat is in moist soil and or tree bark which allows them to germinate and grow into gametophytes. They generally form into ground hugging carpet, because of the bryophytes lack of vascular tissue which is needed to transport water and nutrients in long distances. On January 9, 2014, nearly 300,000 citizens in the greater Charleston area were confronted with a situation where their water was no longer safe. This devastating situation was the result of a chemical spill of 4 methylcyclohexanemethanol (MCHM) into the Elk River just upstream from the West VirginiaAmerican Water (WVAW) treatment plant. In response to the spill, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) was asked to determine a safe level of MCHM in the drinking water. Using available toxicity data, which was minimal, the CDC determined the safety level to be 1 ppm MCHM. Soon after the CDC followed with a warning that out of an abundance of caution pregnant women should not drink the water. This message, rightfully, resulted in much community concern and anxiety. This warning generated concerns about other vulnerable populations, such as young children, pregnant women who had drank the water before the warning, and about the long term health effects on babies born exposed pregnant women. This memo addresses safe levels of exposure for pregnant women and families contemplating having children, as well as the health effects on pregnancies of the citizens exposed to the chemical spill. • 33. Assumptions In The Film Atonement By Joe Wright Assumptions are necessary for us to function as humans, if we did not make assumptions we would have died out as a species long ago. In the film Atonement , director Joe Wright tells the story of a young Briony who has chosen to tell a terrible lie, one that will forever disconnect her from her sister, her happiness, and herself. This text begs the question of assumptions; why we need to understand them, why we need to know when to admit they are wrong, and why we need to be able to acceptthe consequences of them. The topic and overall meaning that this idea holds conveys a message that resonates with the idea that assumptions are sometimes a major factor in how individuals go about taking responsibilityfor themselves. Until an individual can take responsibility for the actions resulting from their own assumed reality, their attempts to take responsibility for themselves will ultimately fail. If an individual s assumption is forced to fit into reality, that may give them the obligation and personal responsibility to reshape reality to fit their assumptions. As a thirteen year old Briony was a very curious girl, but she was interested more specifically in the nature of adults. There is a scene that Briony observes, where Cecilia and Robbie are arguing next to a fountain, and then Cecilia jumps into the fountain as Robbie watches. The Christian religion practiced in this writer s society also promotes the inequality by stipulating that men are the heads of the household and women are supposed to be submissive to their man. This is explained in the bible used by the Christians in Ephesians 5 verses 25 and 26. In this verse, women are supposed to be submissive to their husbands whilst the husbands are the heads. The interpretation is that the man has overall say over his wife or to some extent even sisters. This status usually ends up with the man being abusive and inequity also takes place. In reaction and to some extent retaliation, the women become deviant. They may stop respecting the man, they may start behaving in a wild manner, dress the opposite and many other contrary actions that to counter the patriarchy kind of rule. Muslim women were profoundly feeling aggrieved by the discrimination they have against them. They started and supported a new fight to regain themselves the equal status they were granted by Islamcenturies ago. Muslim women didn t like to be looked at as being backward and oppressed by men in a male dominant world. According to the feminist historian Margot Badran, Islamic feminismis a feminist discourse and practice articulated within an Islamic paradigm. Islamic feminism, which derives its understanding and mandate from the Qur an, seeks rights and justice for women, and for men, in the totality of their existence. That s the rhetoric my parents so heavily ingrained in my mind. I was raised to take this passive ideology and grow my life out of well intended passivism. Same became the degradation of different; Struggles became insignificant and rooted in the pretense that everyone faces the same challenges. So, I went through the motions stagnant and unmoved. As a young child I lived in the areas now more associated with the racist term ghetto . My parents tell me about the influence of gangs and crime that overcame their older neighborhoods. Then the idea of black and these neighborhoods became subconsciously and problematically synonymous. But my nomadic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
