The Record Of Praxis Experience
Record Of Praxis Experience:
Introduction$
It is my belief that no matter how arduous a problem there always exists a solution to that problem and
it is the essence of great engineering design to keep on striving for more efficient and effective
solution no matter how great the present design may be as there is no limit on the number of ways
current engineering design can be improved. Throughout this RoPE is a reflection of my numerous
engineering design endeavors and how each experience contributed to my current definition of
engineering design.

Our design brief was about developing a product, which would promote autonomous play outdoors, a
key factor in a child s social, emotional and physical. It layed out parameters for the design of a
product to assuage parental fears and encourage outdoor play. I played a major part in the iterative
process and the stages of brainstorming involving diverging and finally the selection of the product
alongside my teammates. This experience enhanced my ability to examine any situation and reframe it
by concentrating on the problem from the viewpoint of the major stake holders, which is a vital step in
the engineering design process. Reframing can be deployed as a means to restrain designers or guide
them to focus on particular attributes by providing them with criteria and constraints.

Nurse Officer Interview
What a great start to know the role and responsibilities of a Chief Nurse Officer (CNO), when you get
a chance to interview someone, who actually does the job. I was fortunate to seize an interview with
Derek L. Curtis, DNP, MA, BSN, RN, the current CNO of Lyndon Baines Johnson (LBJH) Hospital,
on October 31, 2016. Curtis has 23 years of professional nursing experience with various leadership
positions. He graduated Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1993 from the Medical College of Georgia,

Changing A Little At A Time
Chapter 3: Changing a Little at a Time (Make a Difference)
If you won a million dollars what would you do? This is a common question people often ask. The
common response is going on vacation, buy a nice car, etc. But we often hear the response of giving to
charity and making a difference in the world. I am the same way. If I had a million dollars I would
want to make a difference in the world and give a lot of it to charity. The reality of me winning a
million dollars is extremely slim. However, I can still accomplish my goal, to make a difference, no
matter how much money I have. I have decided that in my own community I can make a difference
with those in poverty, disabilities, and other issues that may arise.
Growing up I had big ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
High School graduation finally rolled around. I had enough money saved up to spend 16 weeks in
Costa Rica giving to their community. My first goal on my bucket list was about to get crossed off.
And then I met a handsome young man that swept me off my feet. I was in a big dilemma. I could
either spend four months in Costa Rica and accomplish my dream of making a difference in a foreign
country, or I could get married to the man of my dreams. It was a very hard decision to make. It
brought me many sleepless nights, and in the end, I knew I needed to marry this boy and use the
money I had saved up for Costa Rica to help with wedding and future plans. It was devastating. But it
was eye opening. From that moment on, I knew I didn t need to go to some foreign land to make a
difference, I could stay right here in my own community and make just as big of a difference. There
are children here who don t have shoes to wear or food to eat. Some don t even have homes. Right in
our own back yard we are seeing poverty.
I have done, and am doing, several things now that I feel like are making a difference. For instance, I
am currently working with Cache County Extensions. A big difference that I see is making a
difference in the Latino community. We teach workshops on finances and nutrition to these
individuals. It is amazing to see the attitude of the people we help, especially in the financial

Aristocracies In Ancient China
Early Chinese Societies: Political, Social, and Economic Change (581 1279 CE) Legends of emperors
and aristocracies reveal a greater transformation being made in an early civilization known for its
rapid advancement and magnificent artwork. From 220 589 CE, China underwent an era called the
Age of Disunity. According to Edward H. Judge and John W. Langdon, The fall of China s Han
dynasty in 220 CE resulted in the emergence of three separate kingdoms in the north, south, and west,
none able to defeat the others... By the year 280, China s population, nearly 60 million at the height of
the Han, had declined to 16 million by official counts. It was a terrifying time. During the Three

al. writes, [The Song Dynasty] never matched the size or military success of the Han and Tang
dynasties, and in its later years it ruled only the south. But its political and economic vitality was
second to none. Song rulers mainly sought prosperity. Military campaign was viewed as a useless act
that would bring nothing but shame and disgrace upon those who inquired or embarked upon its
journey. Instead of expansion, the Song dynasty focused on synergy. The power elite were encouraged
to move to Kaifeng, the capital, where they enjoyed luxury at the expense of political power. In order
to maintain administration, citizens were subject to civil service exams. Only one percent of the
population qualified for civil service. The delegation of authority gave rise to an autocratic social class
of Confucian scholar gentry. In 1069, political regent Wang Anshi imposed reformation to economic
policies by empowering local taxpaying farmers and merchants. According to Judge, et al., He

The Pastor s Job For Coaching
A discipling pastor is one who focuses more on equipping people than informing them. Information is
good and must be given. However, if information is the only thing that is given, many times it can fall
on deaf ears. In my local church, there are people who show up to Sunday school and every other
discipleship function we offer. They are faithful to be present to hear the Word of God and seldom
break that pattern. They love hearing the information, but it seldom becomes anything more than just
information in their lives. We could teach on evangelism, yet they are not going to reach out to people
in their sphere of influence. They could amen the lesson about removing sin in our lives, however they
never take steps to remove the stumbling block in his or her life. It is the pastor s job to assist in
coaching someone out of that frame of mind. Sometimes it may take the pastor praying and
strategizing to overcome some of those obstacles in people s lives. Simply feeding the flock is not the
biblical role of the pastor. It is not the Lord s will that the people remain spiritual infants who are
always dependent on the residing pastor. The pastor s main job is to equip and train church members
to grow spiritually and use their gifts in a way that is edifying to other parts of the body. It is also
important for a pastor to help develop people and then release them to become who God created them
to be. When a mother and father have children, they invest many years of blood,

Mahatma Gandhi s Indiana Independence Movement
Though the two never met in person, it s no secret that Martin Luther King Jr drew much inspiration
from Mahatmas Gandhi and his teaching on non violence and peaceful protest. He described the
concepts of satyagraha as profoundly significant to him. Satyagraha, a term though of and developed
my Gandhi during the Indiana Independence Movement, literally translates to truth insistence and,
according to Gandhi, meant love force or soul force (Gandhi qtd. In Webel 513). The major principles
of the concept included nonviolence (or, ahimsa), truth, chastity (both sexual chastity was well a
chastity from other sensual desires ), nonstealing, body and bread labor, control of appetites,
fearlessness, respect for all religions, economic strategy, and elimination of the caste system (Webel
513).
Gandhi believed that in order to uphold these rules, he and his followers must have a faith in God,
believe in truth and nonviolence, lead chaste lives free of alcohol or substances, and be willing to die
or lose all possessions, be willing to go to jail and, one imprisoned, obey jail rules (unless they are
abusive to a prisoner s self respect), and must harbor no anger (Webel 513). Follower of ... Show more

American south. He was initially introduced to Gandhi s teachings at Crozer Theological Seminary,

Anti Drunk Driving Campaigns
Anti drunk driving campaigns are designed to encourage people to reconsider their decision to drink

effectively accomplish the objective is much more difficult to pinpoint. Many campaigns use fear
tactics; however, researchers find that using this method is mixed.

Essay on Ellen Foster
Ellen Foster
Ellen Foster is the compelling story of a young girl who is thrust into reality at a very early age.
Written by Kaye Gibbons, the novel is a documentary of the saga of growing up. It is a recurring
theme, growing up, depicted through many events over the course of this girl^s childhood. This
growing up theme is evident through the experiences she has, as well as the many hardships she faces.
Ellen^s awkward situation of two dead parents forces her to lose her innocence at a young age, and
mature much faster than any other person her age. This is shown through her in depth observations
about the world and people around her, such as ^He was a big wind up doll of a man.^ This metaphor
depicts her father, a lazy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Equally important in growing up are friendship, prejudice, and death, all of which are present in the
childhood of Ellen
Foster. Her friendship with a black girl named Starletta is a subject of much controversy. Not
controversy with other people, but controversy within Ellen^s own mind. Her feelings towards her
best friends are contorted by society^s acceptance of other races. This is a common thing among
younger people. Not necessarily among races, but more along the lines of good kids versus bad kids.
Society^s perception of who^s good and who^s bad really affects a child^s perception of who they
should or shouldn^t be seen with. Ellen at the beginning of the book is somewhat ashamed of
Starletta, because she eats dirt, and also feels sorry for her because she only has a one room house, and
doesn^t even have an ^inside the house^ toilet. As the story progresses,
Ellen^s opinions twist and turn until she reaches the conclusion ^If they could fight a war over how
I^m supposed to think about her then
I^m obligated to do it.^ This is evidence for her evolution as a person, or growing up. Her views of the
world mature at a young age, as does she. Work is also an important part of growing up. Ellen gets her
first taste of real manual labor when she moves in with her grandmother, who feels a deep resentment
for Ellen, because she blames

Stability Ball Experiment
In this study, two classrooms of fourth grade students were tested to see if using yoga stability balls
instead of chairs will increase the amount of physical activity and focus throughout the school day.
The American Journal of Occupational Therapy explains, Physical activity data were collected during
10 school days within a 3 wk period (1 week on, 1 week off, 1 week on) (Erwin, H. E., Fedewa, A.,

be distracted and also will show a better correlation of physical activity and behavior while using the

called an accelerometer, similar to the pedometer used in lab 5 of kin 3502. Only significant difference
is that the pedometer only tracks steps while the accelerometer track overall physical activity. The
study shows that the average steps per day were 4,242 in week one and 2,976 in week 2 (Erwin, H. E.,

The Hot Zone Movie Analysis
The book The Hot Zone and the movie Contagion are both about pandemics, with one a possible
pandemic and the other global. They are different because of how the media reacts to the prospect of a
pandemic, as well as how they contain or treat the potential outbreak. Both works showed how panic
can impact and contribute to the spread of the virus. The Hot Zone and Contagion both show the
media s reaction to a potential pandemic. In the book, the media knew nothing about the outbreak
other than being mildly aware that something had happened at a monkey house in Reston, Virginia.
USAMRIID (the United States Army Medical Research Institute for Infectious Diseases) did
everything in their power to ensure no one ascertained the truth, since they knew it would cause panic.
Scientists used back entrances to the monkey house to avoid being photographed in racal suits. In the
movie, the media knew about contaminated people, however, it was not reported as a outbreak of a
deadly virus. The media did not anticipate the virus s impact and the associated risks. The pandemic
increased, more people died, and the media realized they had underestimated the virus. This resulted
in every major media outlet being filled with news of the virus, increases in updates, ... Show more

In The Hot Zone USAMRIID was able to quarantine and decontaminate the monkey house in Reston
with minimal exposure to the virus. Luckily, the virus transpired to only kill monkeys. It altered in a

Contagion was anticipated to have a smaller effect and therefore was underestimated until a
substantial number of people were infected. Once it was clear that the outbreak was critical the CDC
tried to contain it. On day eight 267,000 people were estimated to be infected. The CDC finally got a

Examples Of Gothic In The House Of The Seven Gables
Hawthorne s Treatment Of The Gothic In The House Of Seven Gables
Hawthorne is renowned for his use of psychological analysis in his works, and the reason behind this
fame is quite evident in The House of the Seven Gables . An immensely powerful example of
Hawthorne s psychological perspicacity is what Marilyn R Chandler calls the parallel between the
house and the human psyche : the grand edifice represses literally shoves underground the secret that
will become its curse. (Chandler 82) In 1850, a few months before the publication of The House of the
Seven Gables , Herman Melville reviewed Mosses from an Old Manse , a short story collection by
Hawthorne, in his essay, Hawthorne and his Mosses . Melville lavished immense praise on

All veils are lifted towards the end, however. Judge Pyncheon is proved to have died of entirely
natural causes. With the death of the Judge, the grasping, greedy nature of the Pyncheons their fatal
flaw, if you will that set in motion the entire unfortunate chain of events, is shown to vanish too. The
curse that hung over each successive generation of the Pyncheons is rendered hollow by the union of
Holgrave and Phoebe, and the strange realm of witchcraft is also subverted by the slightly more
credible science of mesmerism. The aura of the uncanny starts to dissipate, and is finally dispelled
with the help of reasonable, rational explanations centred in the realm of the mundane, and
psychological justification wherein lies Hawthorne s specialty. Lionel Trilling, in Our Hawthorne ,
also appreciates Hawthorne s unmatched skill in this sphere: Many of the tales, or romances as he
thought of them, are multi levelled, ironic explorations of the human psyche capable of endless
extensions of meaning and of stimulating repeated analysis and interpretation. (Trilling

The Pro Football Hall Of Fame And The Year Of His Death
Abstract
The subjectively informative written speech was given in 1970 right before his induction into the Pro
Football Hall of Fame and the year of his death. This speech applies to multiple areas professional,
sports and personal, because of the principles of winning and success throughout it. Mr. Lombardi
could never have imagined the impact that this speech would have on the world over 25 years later.
This speech has been played for countless people over these years to motivate companies, teams, and
individuals into reaching the only place to be in when everything is done first place. His use of
repetition, allusion and smooth transition makes this speech easy to follow and ensures that the point
of giving your all to reach first place is driven home. But I firmly believe that in any man s finest hour
his greatest fulfillment to all he holds dear is that moment when he has worked his heart out in a good
cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle victorious.

Captain America Societal Figure
Captain America: American Societal Figure
Ever since the early 20th century, superheroes have been created and written about for readers around
the world. Although they are popular for their entertainment value, superheroes provide a deeper,
more profound purpose for society. For example, they serve as role models, teach vital morals, and
help people cope with real world issues. Possibly the best example of these purposes can be found in
Captain America, as he represents the American people through his loyalty and dedication to the
citizens of the United States of America. He was created by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby to represent a
fighting figure for America in World War II. This would not only strengthen the American identity, but
also garner the interest of Americans in joining the war effort. Captain America symbolizes patriotism
as he relentlessly supports and fights for America.
Captain America was created in early 1941 by writer Joe Simon and artist Jack Kirby. Since Simon
and Kirby strongly believed that the United States should intervene in World War II to fight Adolf
Hitler, they created Captain America as a vehicle to draw attention to the threat posed by Nazi
Germany, (Schnakenberg). In the first comics that he starred in, Captain America was portrayed as a
soldier who passionately fought on the American side of World War II. The soldier went to war for
America and was loyal to the American cause, inspiring American citizens to join the war effort. His

Introduction
If you want to further your education there are a few thing you need to know about the experiences
that come along with been a first time college student. The time spent in college is a fond of memory
and happy experiences; nevertheless it can be stressful and challenging. Some may say that college
was easy but for me I know from experience that only the strong will survive in college. There are so
many issues that people students deal with in college. You will think it s a smooth ride and everything
supposes to be in order. In my opinion it s a learning experience, but a college student thinks it s a
nightmare. You have to be headstrong, if not you won t like it and eventually drop out. There several
issue that affect the Higher Education system. Some of these issues Higher include financial aide,
administration, and preparation for workforce and career readiness. Student loans are one of the
biggest issues that affect college student s nationwide especially low income African American college
student. Education is facing a lot of issues from tuition cost to drop out rate due to college student s
not been able to grasps the college life and/or not having the funding needed to stay in college. The
cost of higher education is also matters of great importance. There are many

Experience As Depicted In James Paul Gee s Analysis
Knowledge obtained from texts and teachers contain flaws in several respects. Unless it is enriched by
wisdom gained from experience, it can sometimes be deceitful. Be that as it may, the knowledge texts
contain is important and based on experience. Understanding how experience affects a person s daily
activities is important in the sense that experience is the basis of people s thought processes.
Experience is useful and valuable in intelligence only obtainable by those who live through the
experience itself.
In James Paul Gee s text Literacy, Discourse, and Linguistics, Gee discusses what Discourses are and
how they are ways of being in the world: they are forms of life which integrate words, acts, values,
beliefs, attitudes, and social ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
that are established early in life through socialization from family and peers. Any Discourses obtained
after are considered secondary Discourses. The two types of secondary Discourses are known are
dominant and nondominant Discourse. Gee argues that the distinction among them is that dominant
Discourses are taken in because they help acquire social value, whether it be monetary or prestige,
while non dominant Discourses, may be centered around the person s value in connection with their
network. This heavily relates to the experienced that one gains from their lifetime. Depending how
one chooses to gain experience, their Discourse, or identity will be adjusted. For example, those who
enjoy hiking and rock climbing may choose a Discourse that is outdoors like and free mannered. I find
it interesting and agree with his notions of the different types of Discourses, however I disagree with
his idea that a failure in mastering a discourse results in reverting to one s primary discourse or
identifying with another secondary discourse. I believe that if one fails to master a discourse, that
discourse will still leave a significant mark on one s identity, partially altering their previous
discourse. This notion relates specifically to Gee s reference of creolization. He uses partial language
mastery as an example, but from my personal experience, I have combined the Discourse of Peruvian
culture engrossed with my American culture, even though I am not entirely proficient in the Spanish

Implementation Of Additive Manufacturing At The...
You pack everything that you think you need for deployment. You conduct your demand analysis that
leads you to believe that what you packed is just what you need. Every deployment you had been on
before confirms that those are the assets that will lead you to mission success. However, this
deployment is different and just about everything you brought is not required and to source it from
else where will take too long. In the near future the most viable solution will be to print it. As 3D
printing now formally known as Additive Manufacturing (AM) evolves, the possibility of have
everything you need at your fingertips will have a profound impact on your operational readiness.
Implementation of additive manufacturing at the Intermediate level (I Level) of a Marine Aviation
Logistics Squadron, will drastically reduce the acquisition and production lead times associated with
low demand items, items that are impacted with obsolescence, and drastically reduce cost and
footprint of conventional logistic models. One advantage of AM is dramatically reducing acquisition
and production lead time associated with low demand items. Currently, Defense Logistics Agency s
(DLA) demand forecasting is predicated on either previous demand history or flight hours which will
determine how much to buy and how much to stock. This formula is great for the high demand and
major end items as they are more predictable with continuous monitoring for any changes in pattern.

Once More To The Lake Analysis
Once More To The Lake by E.B White features stylistic and rhetorical strategies such as literary tone
and flashbacks. Through the use of White s flashbacks to his earlier childhood at the lake, the literary
tone of nostalgia and reminiscent sentiment is set. The nostalgic attitude of the work contributes to the
heartfelt tone of the piece as White transports the audience to a meaningful time in his life.
Furthermore, the use of the various flashbacks helps White relate his childhood to his child, creating a
parallel between White and his father, when he was his childs age. Through this sentimental tone, the
overall meaning of the work is created as it displays how time does not change memories, even if time
has changed the present day. Together, these stylistic choices affect the audience s reactions as the
reader is able to identify how the lake represents the authors unfading and untouchable memories of
his younger days.
White s purpose for writing this piece was to describe how memories can not be changed despite how
time changes everything around it. This can be seen when the author states that the middle road in the
dusty field was gone, leaving two roads. Despite this change, the author states that the way led past the
tennis court, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The piece was written describing White s time at Belgrade Lakes, Maine, where he vacationed as a
child. With this, the audience of the piece was anyone who read Harper s Magazine and had an interest
in White s autobiographical piece about Maine and his time at the Belgrade Lake. Furthermore, the
piece was written during World War II, and highlights a better time in America s history, where there
was no war and kids could be run free without the worries of an ongoing war. It can be seen that
despite the anxiety of war, memories of the past remain tender, and remind the audience that time
passes continuously, but fond memories will unfailingly be

Summary Of The Movie Chances Of A Lifetime
In the movie Chances of a Lifetime they showed us a variety of ways that in an everyday life, people
use numbers, statistics, and make data. Some ways that we use this information is being a doctor,
baseball player and even a high school student. In baseball the manager uses statistics to figure out
what there hitters should bat and how it will affect the team as a whole. Ron Clark is the manager for
the Cubs, they were down by one and that when the statistics came into play. The Cubs had one man
on base and the next two hitters had fantastic hitting ratios therefore, Ron looked at all the possibilities
and decided to not bunt any balls. Ron s decision paid off and they won that game ( section 1, Chances

Dirt Is Good Summary
Germs! Germs! Germs! Yucky? Eewww?! Over the years, we have grown to see germs as bad,
something to totally avoid and get rid of. Parents most especially with newly born babies and young
children tend to be overreact at the mere thought of germs. But can we blame parents when things like
how to properly look after their child, when to give him antibiotics or how often they should sterilize
his pacifier, bog them? Well. thanks to Jack Gilbert, the co author of a new book called Dirt is Good:
The Advantage of Germs for Your Child s Developing Immune System for presenting answers to
many of our questions about these microbes. Gilbert, a scientist who studies microbial ecosystems at

Over sterilizing the kids environment is not advantageous. 2. Keeping the children from ever getting
dirty, like preventing them from going out into the backyard and playing in the mud, is not helpful.
Just make sure that as they become filthy, bring them in and sterilize their hands with antiseptic wipes,
and then remove that dirt gets from their faces. 3. Keeping the kids away from animals is not good
either. It s fine to wash their hands if there s a cold or a flu virus around, but if they re interacting with
a dog, and the dog licks their face, that s not a bad thing. In fact that could be extremely beneficial for
the child s health. 4. Using sanitizers is usually bad.. Hot, soapy water is fine. Even mildly warm,
soapy water is okay, and it is probably less damaging to the child s overall health. 5. Observing the

To What Extent Can the Modern Conservative Party Be...
. To what extent can the modern conservative party be considered One nation ? (25 marks)
One nation is an idea that is based upon principles such as paternalism, and it is the name given to
describe this particular faction of the conservative party. One nation conservatives is the name given
to the followers of the ideas presented by Benjamin Disrael, and the belief in changing Britain from
two nations i.e the rich and the poor, and instead creating one. Benjamin Disraeli adopted one nation
conservatism for both ethical and electoral reasons. Before he became leader of the Conservative
Party, Disraeli had announced that, as a result of the Reform Act of 1867 the party needed to pursue

For example David Cameron (DC) controversially changed the outlook of the conservative party and
claimed it to be The party of the NHS . He also believes that state intervention within healthcare s
needed and vital, as well as being against any privatisation of the NHS. Although the contrasting Right
wing faction of the conservative party Thatcherities oppose this, as Margret Thatcher reduced the size
of the state, and they believe State intervention to be negative as it took a lot of industries out of public
control and into the state. However; overall even though DC claims he is against any privatisation of
the NHS, there is a continuing growth in services being provided by private health care companies,
although I do believe that on the matter of the NHS DC has moved the conservative party towards the
centre as DC and the modern conservative party have outspent Labour on the NHS, which is what he
promised to do. Therefore to some degree the modern conservative party can be considered more One
nation . Thirdly, a one nation principle is Social Duty, and an example of DC supporting social duty is
that during the 2010 election, he launched his main one nation idea, this being The Big Society . This
envisaged volunteers and charities taking the place of government to carry out their social duties and
responsibilities in order to improve their communities. Dc s key argument was that the public should

Behind Every Great Woman Stands a Great Nation What can women bring to the table that men can t?
The world may seem to be run by men, but three women caught the eye of many people. Esther De
Berdt Reed was a women who took matters into her own hands by creating a fund for the soldiers in
the war. Even though she did not live a long life, she changed how people viewed women. Deborah
Sampson fooled the men standing right next to her. She fought with her fellow brothers against the
British and without them even knowing she was a woman. Though Abigail Adams did not physically
do anything for the women of America, she used her her pen and paper to explain how she really felt

side to take. She loved her home country, but she could not tolerate the way the British acted towards
the Americans. She became a supporter of American Independence. Through the years Joseph s social
status was rising, Esther saw it as an opportunity to make an impact in the war efforts. She decided to
write Sentiments of an American Women . It was published in the newspaper to spread the word to get
women to join her in her nationalistic organization, the Ladies Association of Philadelphia. The goal
for the Ladies was to raise money to accumulate supplies for the soldiers in the war. Only three days
after the Pennsylvania Gazette published Sentiments of an American Woman more than thirty women
gathered to discuss the best way to aid the Soldiers. The group of ladies split up into groups and went
from door to door trying to earn money. Many people contributed to the cause because they found it
fascinating that there were women asking instead of men. Giving door to door, the society saw the
men as doing work and women staying at home. Due to their hard work, in the end they were very
successful. The Ladies collected more than $300,000 dollars. The money was used to purchase
supplies like cloth, thread, and needles to sew clothes and other apparel for the soldiers. On behalf of
the Ladies Association of Philadelphia, the men s morale was lifted and made it less difficult for the
soldiers to fight for their country. Esther showed people that women could make a difference in the
world. These women worked independently and without the need of men. Esther Reed was a

Current Crm And Erp Systems And Procedures
We have evaluated our current CRM and ERP systems and procedures. Currently, there is a custom
module that is causing performance issues including failed registration orders. This results in
Customer Service staff having to re enter registration orders, as well additional work for Finance staff.
This custom module also creates a barrier when upgrading our ERP system.
Eliminating the custom module in our ERP system will relieve our system of these performance issues
and allow the Registration orders to be processed within another system, GoSignMeUp. This will
result in a more effective process and also allow Retail Sales to be processed differently. With less
stress on customer duplicates, our ERP system can integrate with the website web ... Show more

Since the CRM and ERP system was not built out of the box to handle registrations in any form, CRS
has used a third party application to handle those types of orders. That third party app was clunky,
slow and caused many data integrity issues.
In April 2014, we removed that application from the systems and customized a module of the ERP
system to handle registrations. This was a major improvement for our internal processes and system
performance. It put our system back to a more normal, out of the box setting, with the minor custom
configuration to an ERP module. However, there are still some issues with this custom module:
Sometimes the system does not register the participant correctly, and re invoicing has to occur
The ability to upgrade is effected we would have to remove the custom module, upgrade the system,
and reinstall an upgraded version of the custom module. This would require more development time.
The current custom module prevents us from integrating into the website which would be ideal for
streamlining the retail product order process
This report will discuss my proposal for a project of implementing an online registration and event
management system. Specifically, GoSignMeUp (GSMU). Essentially, this will separate the Retail
Sales order process and the Registration order process. This will eliminate the need for a custom
module in our existing ERP system.
GoSignMeUp vs. Custom Module
We would implement GSMU to process registration

To What Extent Did The Europeans Dominate African Nations
What urged the Europeans to dominate African nations? Before the 19th century, Europeans feared

technology allowed them to venture into the country and investigate. An abundant of factors promoted
the extensive endeavor. Politics, cultural attitudes, and economics drove the European forces to invade

In the world of politics, it was a crucially intense race for the control of African nations between

Analysis Of Bottled By Helene Johnson
During the Harlem Renaissance, many African Americans were able to reveal and experience their
culture through music, literature, and art. In the poem Bottled , Helene Johnson writes a narrative
about someone experiencing the Harlem Renaissance. Helene Johnson, a poet during the Harlem
Renaissance, appears to have wrote Bottled as an example of African Americans realizing their
heritage and being proud of where they originated. The poem Bottled does tell a story of one seeking
their heritage by observing someone letting loose and embracing their own origins by dancing on the
streets of Harlem. Though at first the narrator seems confused, later he or she discovers the true
meaning of this person s action. The title Bottled itself seems to refer to the roots of many African
Americans that were hidden and could not be expressed. Through Helene Johnson s choice of diction
and target audience, the poem Bottled has a meaning of heritage and finding one s roots. When
reading Bottled , there is no hard vocabulary nor slang that makes it difficult to read; however, there is
a lively language that carries out through the poem. In lines 5 6, the narrator explains, Just like the
kids make pies/ Out of down at the beach to describe the bottle of sand in the library. This comparison
seems to be childish because the narrator is relating it to an activity done by children, yet, it makes it
easier to visualize. African Americans received a small amount of education compared to

Implementing A Healthcare Information Infrastructure
CPOE Implementation Challenges
Many healthcare organizations remain focused on continually improving their operations to better
align with industry and government best practices. Specifically, the improvement in quality of
healthcare has gained interest among policy makers in recent years (Carlfjord, Lindberg, Bendtsen,
Nilsen Andersson, 2010, p. 1). This is likely because healthcare policy makers strive to overcome
some of the larger scale issues affecting the industry and patient care. One of the issues that hospitals
and other healthcare organizations want to correct is how many mistakes are made by healthcare
providers, as these errors negatively impact patient outcomes and open up healthcare organizations for
possible liability. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hospitals have begun implementing Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE) systems intended to
streamline and computerize the process of maintaining patient records and prescribing medications.
These systems allow hospital administrators and healthcare professionals to quickly access clinical
guidelines, recommendations, patient information, and other factors critical to patient care all at once.
It was the intention of the hospital that the implementation and expense of this new system would
reduce the number of errors detected.
However, one case study at Springfield General Hospital demonstrated how sometimes these
implementation processes fail to make measurable improvements. In fact, at Springfield General
Hospital, the overall number of these types of mistakes increased after implementation instead of
reducing it. The hospital evaluated the situation and found glaring issues after its implementation of its
CPOE.
Implementation Challenges
In evaluating why the CPOE made the situation worse, first it is important to note that the information
listed within the system was not accurate. Healthcare providers relied upon the data within the CPOE
to make decisions in terms of dosage and possible medication interactions. However, the dosages
listed in the CPOE display, however, are based on the pharmacy s warehousing and purchasing
decisions, not clinical guidelines (Spector, 2013, p. 148). The warehousing and

what all Handmaids strive to achieve. When a Handmaid has her menstrual cycle each month, the

Benefits of the Jewish Chicken Soup
Food is only one aspect of cultural tradition, but it is probably one of the most prevalent. Because of
the significance of food in our lives, many ethnic and religious groups incorporate it into special
occasions. Funerals, weddings, birthdays, festivals, fairs, political holidays and religious celebrations
would all loose a bit of their sparkle without the pleasure of food. Various foods are given symbolic
and even transformative connotations. This is a universal truth in most cultures.
A very popular food with cultural significance is chicken soup. It is prepared very differently in
different cultures. From Mexico s chili spiked sopa de Fideos, to China s gingery QiguoJi, cultures
have a love affair with chicken in a pot. In Bulgaria, chicken soup is often seasoned with lemon juice
or vinegar. The Taiwan style of chicken soup includes dried jujube fruits, tea, and other various herbs.
The Columbian version of is called ajiaco and includes sweet corn, several types of potatoes, avocado,
capers, an herb called guascas, and a dollop of cream. Polish chicken soup is commonly served with
fine noodles and sometimes a ground almond broth called ros贸艂. In the United States and Canada,
chicken soup often has noodles or rice. The Campbell Soup Company coined the phrase chicken
noodle soup in the 1930s and it has endured to this day.
While no single culture can claim chicken soup as exclusively its own, chicken soup is a traditional
dish of the Jewish kitchen. No Shabbat,

Pre-literacy and Modern Vestiges
Pre literacy and Modern Vestiges
For many years, the conventions and existence of epic poetry from the pre literate age were explained
as repositories for information. A well known story, usually involving a hero that embodied the virtues
of the society who told the story, engages in battles, quests, etc. As the epic is spoken to an audience,
the hero s actions and the way they are described impart the audience with information and teachings.
The information the listeners received is thought by some to be analogous to a modern day textbook
lesson, in which students learn mathematics, grammar, and law, all by the written word. So is the
contention of Homeric scholar Eric A. Havelock. As Hobart and Schiffman state in Orality and the ...

The specific words sung are more attuned to the metrical nature of the music than they are apt tools
for imparting the singer with specific knowledge about a single battle. The Star Spangled Banner is an
example of modern commemoration. If we were to read it as it was originally written, as a poem, then
we would probably think of it as a series of images describing a naval assault on an American fort, and
as a singular, historical event. The poem s lines would become information. Yet in song form this is
not the case. The point of the song is not for each individual to remember a certain night in American
history; the point is for a group of singers to remember the notion of a nation, more specifically, the
United States.
Hobart and Schiffman theorize that each oral presentation of the Iliad was a different for its audiences
as the situations in which we might hear the national anthem. For instance, we sing the national
anthem at baseball games, but we also heard it after the World Trade Center was attacked on
September 11, 2001; besides being group events, these cases have little in common. The type of
memory that we use when sing the song together is the commemorative type.
Another example describing the differences in the concept of memory that Hobart and Schiffman refer
to can be found in computers. Memory on a computer describes how many tasks a computer can do at

I think that mostly the main characters in Greek tragedies don t deserve what happens to them, as their
fortunes have already been told by the Gods, but for some of their own actions condemned
themselves. Firstly Phaedra s feelings where controlled by a powerful and vengeful God, Phaedra had
no choice in the feelings she felt for Hippolytus, and the God had made them so strong that she could
almost not control them. She had started to starve herself out to protect her name, and the name of her

existence of an original is what enables the sense of authenticity, if there is no original there is no

As I walked down the road to Gale s house I stopped by the bakery to see that nice man with the witch
if a wife. Hello is the bakery open right now? I wanted to know if I could talk to the man of the
bakery. He never told me his name and he never talked a lot. I think it s because I talk too much.
People always say at school that all I do is blabber my mouth about anything I can. I think my father
told me stop right here but I don t remember because of the announcement. I waited awhile...still no
one came out. Then I heard a big CRASH. So I grabbed the pan that the water was leaking in from the
roof and started walking into the back. My father always told me to

Military Cadences Essay
Pop Cultural Elements of Military Cadences
HUT, TWO, THREE, FOUR...HUT, TWO, THREE, FOUR... What do a bunch of grunts calling out
raunchy marching cadences have to do with pop culture? There s more to the cadence then just
keeping soldiers in step, there is a deep sense of pride, patriotism, unity, motivation, and nostalgia,
which can be found within these songs. The Military cadence is used to motivate, inspire, and foster
company cohesiveness while keeping soldiers steps in time and hands down the rich oral traditions of
the Army, Navy, Marines, and Air force. The cadence is a song sung when marching or running and
the songs require a caller, who normally sets the pace and leads the formation. Like robots, the ...

And the same holds true for the other branches with different conceptions about each other. Therefore,
a cadence might be made to reflect this branch differentiation, carrying this legacy of prejudice on.
However, there is a common understanding and respect for each branches capabilities and how they
contribute to a strategic battle plan and the defense of the United States as a member of the military
subculture.

Argumentative Paper Euthanasia
Should Euthanasia be legalized?
Because of remarkable advances in medical technology pharmacology that can artificially prolong a
patient s life, the field of medical ethics has been confronted with a new controversy: the legalization
of euthanasia and physician assisted suicide. The word Euthanasia comes from the Greek word for eus
which means godly or well, and thanathos which literally means death (F.A. Davis Company, 2001, p.
476). Before its contemporary use, the word euthanasia meant a peaceful, quiet way to depart from
earth. However, in modern times, this concept has sparked an incredible controversy. Today, the word
euthanasia also commonly, but wrongfully, used for the practices of physician assisted suicide (PAS).

Literally the oath reads ...that I will exercise my art solely for the cure of my patients, and will give no
drug, perform no operation for a criminal purpose, even if solicited, far less suggested (North, 2002).
In addition, they assert, that euthanasia and PAS violates their principals of nonmaleficence (the belief
of not inflicting harm on an individual) (Beauchamp Childress, 1989, p. 194) and beneficence
(positive acts of preventing harm, removing harm, and promoting good) (1989, p. 121). Additionally
they claim that such crucial end of life decisions can be reduced by proper and suitable palliative care,
and efficient pharmaceutical pain management (Hendin, 2004, p. 9). Opponents of euthanasia and PAS
also maintain that the sanctity of life overrules the right to personal freedom and choice. Religion and
cultural background play a major role in those attitudes. Some claim that the concept that an
individual has a right to die is rejected on the basis that death is inevitability, not a right (Ledger, 2007,
p. 81). Others quote the six commandment of the Christian faith that states thou shall not kill (murder)
(Exodus 20:6). Christians believe that human life is sacred. The Catechism of the Catholic Church
number 2281 denounces the act of suicide as a contradiction to the natural inclination of the human
being to preserve and perpetuate his life (Catholic Online, 2008). In

I Had Never Get Out Of Your Head
You know that experience you have that you can really never get out of your head? It is not a good
memory, one you will probably not tell your mother about until you are well in your forties? I had one
of those during my second week of college. My group of friends that experienced this night with me
included my roommate Dionia, Reggie, Reginald, and Fredrek. I met Reggie through Dionia, they are
both from Orangeburg, SC and attended the same high school. Reginald is Reggie s roommate which
is how I met Reginald, and Fredrek is Reginald s friend. Fredrek, Reginald and I all happen to be from
the same town so we all clicked instantly. The second week of school we were all ready to go out and
had some fun, that night we decided to meet up in my dorm so we could go out together. Until that
night on Franklin Boulevard I had never felt so scared and helpless in my life.
I was never a person to go out and party in my hometown, but being 18 and in college I decided I
would branch out a little but not to where I would be uncomfortable. Coming to Greensboro I knew
there were parts of the city that were prone to violence, being new to the city I did not know where
those areas were just yet. We decided earlier in the week that we were going to go out that Saturday,
Fredrek started looking on Snapchat for addresses or any flyers for parties that we could go to. He
found two, one was downtown at a club and the other was a house party. The night we were going out
we took an Uber while

The Importance Of Voting Rights In The United States
What can be done to assure that United States (U.S.) citizens do not lose voting rights, but regain
rights that have been lost? First, we have to look at the bigger picture of the whole world; then look at
history; and then at ourselves. Over time, we have been through absolute monarchy, dictatorship, and
slavery which were once legal in our United States (U.S.) government once upon a time. Today, these
positions and institutions do not exist. Now, in today s government of the U.S. we have come a long
way to make things exceptional among ourselves. Voting rights have helped a lot because they have
given all of United States (U.S.) citizens a voice, whether positive or negative. So can you consider
this discussion on this subject and

Bladder Research Paper
Bladder is one of the organ which is part of the urinary system of body. The major function of the
bladder is to store urine produced in the kidney prior to urination. The urinary system of the body
ensures the removal of wastes and excess fluid from the body in the form of urine. To ensure normal
urination to ensue, all the parts in the urinary system have to work in the right order. The process of
urine elimination begins in the kidney and ends in the urethra. Human body is composed of a pair of
kidneys which is bean shaped and located right under the rib cage each on one side of the spine (Keast
et al., 2015) (where in this Kanai paper is this mentioned?). The kidneys work in pairs to filter
approximately 200 liters of blood per day so that any excess salt, water and urea, a ... Show more

A normal healthy bladder can hold up to 600 mL of urine (Elmissiry et al., 2014) (where in this Kanai
paper is this mentioned?). The smooth muscles which builds the bladder wall remain relaxed when
urine is occupying the bladder and contracts when it is filled to capacity. Signals are sent to the brain
to expel urine when the bladder reaches its capacity to hold urine and is emptied from bladder via
urethra, located at bottom of bladder (Kanai et al., 2014). (where in this Kanai paper is this
mentioned?)
2.1.1 Anatomy of human bladder
In both males and females, the urinary bladder is located in the pelvis, posterior to the abdomen
cavity. In males, the bladder is located above the seminal vesicles and prostate gland and inferior to
the peritoneum (Martini, 2007). Rectum is located posterior to the bladder (Figure 2.2). Meanwhile in
females bladder is located in front the uterus, fallopian tube and rectum and superior to the vagina

Pandemic Death Monologue
Pandemic Death So It started when I was young about nine years of age and it was early in the year
1350. It started a little like this, there was a knock on the door and I got up to go see who it was. When
I opened the door there was a man on his horse. The man asked my parents were home, they were, so I
said I could go and get them. Once I had gotten my parents the man asked if they are willing to go on
a trip through the sea to Kwillining, London. They said they would, so they put in there few overalls
and dirty old jeans into a small waggon that are going to have to hall 46 miles to get to the ship. I have

Brett said,
We all went inside and ate some soup. Once we were done we told each other a little about what we
liked to do for fun. After that we drew things in the dirt. WE were having so much fun together...Until
there was a deep voice outside our door.
The voice was booming, dark, and scary. They then suddenly I saw the door split in two. A man about
twice the height as me then thundered in. The man started rambling on about how everyone is dieing
and that the world was going to end. I noticed there were swollen oval shaped things the size of an
apple.
The man then asked, I ve traveled a long way and i m so tired of seeing dead bodies everywhere I go I
was also wondering if I could sit a while here. Just about everyone is dead around here.
I told him he could stay a while and I got him some fresh water. The man said he would replace our
door and he was very sorry for hacking it down.
He got up and was getting ready to leave when he fell to the floor weakly and started coughing up
blood. We knew exactly what this meant. He had the

The Arms Race and How it Changed the United States of America
The Evil Empire that is what, at the height of the arms race, United States President Ronald Reagan
called the Soviet Union (Rudolph 1). Unsurprisingly, the Soviet Union was similarly upset at the
United States. This anger is what fueled the arms race. During the Cold War, due to fears of nuclear
attack, the US and Soviet Union designed and deployed thousands of nuclear warheads, each hoping
to deter the other from nuclear launch with threat of counter attack (O Neal 1). This massive arms
buildup, however, had many negative effects on the US. To recognize the impact that the arms race
continues to have on today, it is crucial to understand not only its causes, but also its immediate
impacts on the US economy, society, foreign ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This preparation took the form of an arms race. The arms race was a competitive acquisition of
weapons by the Soviet Union and the United States. (Boilard 1). The strategy behind the arms race
was to amass more nuclear weapons than the opponent, thus enabling them to win any future nuclear
war. It was assumed that if nuclear war happened, then the country with the most nuclear weapons
would destroy more of the other country, consequently winning the war (Boilard 1). Under this
strategy, the Soviet Union built about 45,000 nuclear warheads, and obtained enough radioactive
materials to triple that. The Soviet Union also placed tactical missile sites in many countries from
Cuba to Kazakhstan, hoping to be able to perform a fast strike from close range if necessary (O Neal
1). Likewise, the US placed missiles in Europe and started the Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI)
program. The SDI program was meant to defend against a nuclear attack. The SDI program included
satellites with lasers and nuclear powered railguns, which would ideally be able to shoot down
approaching missiles long before they reached their target. The SDI program was also referred to as
Star Wars because its use of lasers in space made it seem like science fiction. Furthermore, the price,
amount of electricity needed to power these weapons, and amount of research needed was so great that
the project was abandoned several billion dollars later (Rudolph 2). In essence, the

  • 2. The Record Of Praxis Experience Record Of Praxis Experience: Introduction$ It is my belief that no matter how arduous a problem there always exists a solution to that problem and it is the essence of great engineering design to keep on striving for more efficient and effective solution no matter how great the present design may be as there is no limit on the number of ways current engineering design can be improved. Throughout this RoPE is a reflection of my numerous engineering design endeavors and how each experience contributed to my current definition of engineering design. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Our design brief was about developing a product, which would promote autonomous play outdoors, a key factor in a child s social, emotional and physical. It layed out parameters for the design of a product to assuage parental fears and encourage outdoor play. I played a major part in the iterative process and the stages of brainstorming involving diverging and finally the selection of the product alongside my teammates. This experience enhanced my ability to examine any situation and reframe it by concentrating on the problem from the viewpoint of the major stake holders, which is a vital step in the engineering design process. Reframing can be deployed as a means to restrain designers or guide them to focus on particular attributes by providing them with criteria and constraints. Artifact 3: CDR Music Stand $ Conceptual Design Project: Implementation of Footrest to stabilize portable music stands This was a principle deliverable in our design course, Praxis I. • 4. Changing A Little At A Time Chapter 3: Changing a Little at a Time (Make a Difference) If you won a million dollars what would you do? This is a common question people often ask. The common response is going on vacation, buy a nice car, etc. But we often hear the response of giving to charity and making a difference in the world. I am the same way. If I had a million dollars I would want to make a difference in the world and give a lot of it to charity. The reality of me winning a million dollars is extremely slim. However, I can still accomplish my goal, to make a difference, no matter how much money I have. And then I met a handsome young man that swept me off my feet. I was in a big dilemma. I could either spend four months in Costa Rica and accomplish my dream of making a difference in a foreign country, or I could get married to the man of my dreams. It was a very hard decision to make. It brought me many sleepless nights, and in the end, I knew I needed to marry this boy and use the money I had saved up for Costa Rica to help with wedding and future plans. It was devastating. But it was eye opening. From that moment on, I knew I didn t need to go to some foreign land to make a difference, I could stay right here in my own community and make just as big of a difference. There are children here who don t have shoes to wear or food to eat. Some don t even have homes. Right in our own back yard we are seeing poverty. I have done, and am doing, several things now that I feel like are making a difference. For instance, I am currently working with Cache County Extensions. Aristocracies In Ancient China Early Chinese Societies: Political, Social, and Economic Change (581 1279 CE) Legends of emperors and aristocracies reveal a greater transformation being made in an early civilization known for its rapid advancement and magnificent artwork. From 220 589 CE, China underwent an era called the Age of Disunity. According to Edward H. Judge and John W. Langdon, The fall of China s Han dynasty in 220 CE resulted in the emergence of three separate kingdoms in the north, south, and west, none able to defeat the others... By the year 280, China s population, nearly 60 million at the height of the Han, had declined to 16 million by official counts. It was a terrifying time. He then annexed the Ten Kingdoms, who opted for peace amid a period of desolation. Zhao Kuangyin later became known as the Emperor Taizu. Of the Song dynasty, Judge, et al. writes, [The Song Dynasty] never matched the size or military success of the Han and Tang dynasties, and in its later years it ruled only the south. But its political and economic vitality was second to none. Song rulers mainly sought prosperity. Military campaign was viewed as a useless act that would bring nothing but shame and disgrace upon those who inquired or embarked upon its journey. Instead of expansion, the Song dynasty focused on synergy. The power elite were encouraged to move to Kaifeng, the capital, where they enjoyed luxury at the expense of political power. In order to maintain administration, citizens were subject to civil service exams. Only one percent of the population qualified for civil service. The delegation of authority gave rise to an autocratic social class of Confucian scholar gentry. In 1069, political regent Wang Anshi imposed reformation to economic policies by empowering local taxpaying farmers and merchants. • 6. The Pastor s Job For Coaching A discipling pastor is one who focuses more on equipping people than informing them. Information is good and must be given. However, if information is the only thing that is given, many times it can fall on deaf ears. In my local church, there are people who show up to Sunday school and every other discipleship function we offer. They are faithful to be present to hear the Word of God and seldom break that pattern. They love hearing the information, but it seldom becomes anything more than just information in their lives. We could teach on evangelism, yet they are not going to reach out to people in their sphere of influence. They could amen the lesson about removing sin in our lives, however they never take steps to remove the stumbling block in his or her life. It is the pastor s job to assist in coaching someone out of that frame of mind. Sometimes it may take the pastor praying and strategizing to overcome some of those obstacles in people s lives. Simply feeding the flock is not the biblical role of the pastor. It is not the Lord s will that the people remain spiritual infants who are always dependent on the residing pastor. The pastor s main job is to equip and train church members to grow spiritually and use their gifts in a way that is edifying to other parts of the body. It is also important for a pastor to help develop people and then release them to become who God created them to be. When a mother and father have children, they invest many years of blood, ... Mahatma Gandhi s Indiana Independence Movement Though the two never met in person, it s no secret that Martin Luther King Jr drew much inspiration from Mahatmas Gandhi and his teaching on non violence and peaceful protest. He described the concepts of satyagraha as profoundly significant to him. Satyagraha, a term though of and developed my Gandhi during the Indiana Independence Movement, literally translates to truth insistence and, according to Gandhi, meant love force or soul force (Gandhi qtd. In Webel 513). The major principles of the concept included nonviolence (or, ahimsa), truth, chastity (both sexual chastity was well a chastity from other sensual desires ), nonstealing, body and bread labor, control of appetites, fearlessness, respect for all religions, economic strategy, and elimination of the caste system (Webel 513). Gandhi believed that in order to uphold these rules, he and his followers must have a faith in God, believe in truth and nonviolence, lead chaste lives free of alcohol or substances, and be willing to die or lose all possessions, be willing to go to jail and, one imprisoned, obey jail rules (unless they are abusive to a prisoner s self respect), and must harbor no anger (Webel 513). • 10. Essay on Ellen Foster Ellen Foster Ellen Foster is the compelling story of a young girl who is thrust into reality at a very early age. Written by Kaye Gibbons, the novel is a documentary of the saga of growing up. It is a recurring theme, growing up, depicted through many events over the course of this girl^s childhood. This growing up theme is evident through the experiences she has, as well as the many hardships she faces. Ellen^s awkward situation of two dead parents forces her to lose her innocence at a young age, and mature much faster than any other person her age. This is shown through her in depth observations about the world and people around her, such as ^He was a big wind up doll of a man.^ This metaphor depicts her father, a lazy ... Her friendship with a black girl named Starletta is a subject of much controversy. Not controversy with other people, but controversy within Ellen^s own mind. Her feelings towards her best friends are contorted by society^s acceptance of other races. This is a common thing among younger people. Not necessarily among races, but more along the lines of good kids versus bad kids. Society^s perception of who^s good and who^s bad really affects a child^s perception of who they should or shouldn^t be seen with. Ellen at the beginning of the book is somewhat ashamed of Starletta, because she eats dirt, and also feels sorry for her because she only has a one room house, and doesn^t even have an ^inside the house^ toilet. As the story progresses, Ellen^s opinions twist and turn until she reaches the conclusion ^If they could fight a war over how I^m supposed to think about her then I^m obligated to do it.^ This is evidence for her evolution as a person, or growing up. • 12. The Hot Zone Movie Analysis The book The Hot Zone and the movie Contagion are both about pandemics, with one a possible pandemic and the other global. They are different because of how the media reacts to the prospect of a pandemic, as well as how they contain or treat the potential outbreak. Both works showed how panic can impact and contribute to the spread of the virus. The Hot Zone and Contagion both show the media s reaction to a potential pandemic. In the book, the media knew nothing about the outbreak other than being mildly aware that something had happened at a monkey house in Reston, Virginia. USAMRIID (the United States Army Medical Research Institute for Infectious Diseases) did everything in their power to ensure no one ascertained the truth, since they knew it would cause panic. Scientists used back entrances to the monkey house to avoid being photographed in racal suits. In the movie, the media knew about contaminated people, however, it was not reported as a outbreak of a deadly virus. The media did not anticipate the virus s impact and the associated risks. Examples Of Gothic In The House Of The Seven Gables Hawthorne s Treatment Of The Gothic In The House Of Seven Gables Hawthorne is renowned for his use of psychological analysis in his works, and the reason behind this fame is quite evident in The House of the Seven Gables . An immensely powerful example of Hawthorne s psychological perspicacity is what Marilyn R Chandler calls the parallel between the house and the human psyche : the grand edifice represses literally shoves underground the secret that will become its curse. (Chandler 82) In 1850, a few months before the publication of The House of the Seven Gables , Herman Melville reviewed Mosses from an Old Manse , a short story collection by Hawthorne, in his essay, Hawthorne and his Mosses . Judge Pyncheon is proved to have died of entirely natural causes. The curse that hung over each successive generation of the Pyncheons is rendered hollow by the union of Holgrave and Phoebe, and the strange realm of witchcraft is also subverted by the slightly more credible science of mesmerism. The aura of the uncanny starts to dissipate, and is finally dispelled with the help of reasonable, rational explanations centred in the realm of the mundane, and psychological justification wherein lies Hawthorne s specialty. Lionel Trilling, in Our Hawthorne , also appreciates Hawthorne s unmatched skill in this sphere: Many of the tales, or romances as he thought of them, are multi levelled, ironic explorations of the human psyche capable of endless extensions of meaning and of stimulating repeated analysis and interpretation. The Pro Football Hall Of Fame And The Year Of His Death Abstract The subjectively informative written speech was given in 1970 right before his induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame and the year of his death. This speech applies to multiple areas professional, sports and personal, because of the principles of winning and success throughout it. Mr. Lombardi could never have imagined the impact that this speech would have on the world over 25 years later. This speech has been played for countless people over these years to motivate companies, teams, and individuals into reaching the only place to be in when everything is done first place. His use of repetition, allusion and smooth transition makes this speech easy to follow and ensures that the point of giving your all to reach first place is driven home. • 15. Captain America Societal Figure Captain America: American Societal Figure Ever since the early 20th century, superheroes have been created and written about for readers around the world. Although they are popular for their entertainment value, superheroes provide a deeper, more profound purpose for society. For example, they serve as role models, teach vital morals, and help people cope with real world issues. Possibly the best example of these purposes can be found in Captain America, as he represents the American people through his loyalty and dedication to the citizens of the United States of America. He was created by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby to represent a fighting figure for America in World War II. This would not only strengthen the American identity, but also garner the interest of Americans in joining the war effort. Captain America symbolizes patriotism as he relentlessly supports and fights for America. Captain America was created in early 1941 by writer Joe Simon and artist Jack Kirby. Since Simon and Kirby strongly believed that the United States should intervene in World War II to fight Adolf Hitler, they created Captain America as a vehicle to draw attention to the threat posed by Nazi Germany, (Schnakenberg). In the first comics that he starred in, Captain America was portrayed as a soldier who passionately fought on the American side of World War II. The soldier went to war for America and was loyal to the American cause, inspiring American citizens to join the war effort. His origin ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The two types of secondary Discourses are known are dominant and nondominant Discourse. Gee argues that the distinction among them is that dominant Discourses are taken in because they help acquire social value, whether it be monetary or prestige, while non dominant Discourses, may be centered around the person s value in connection with their network. This heavily relates to the experienced that one gains from their lifetime. Depending how one chooses to gain experience, their Discourse, or identity will be adjusted. For example, those who enjoy hiking and rock climbing may choose a Discourse that is outdoors like and free mannered. I find it interesting and agree with his notions of the different types of Discourses, however I disagree with his idea that a failure in mastering a discourse results in reverting to one s primary discourse or identifying with another secondary discourse. I believe that if one fails to master a discourse, that discourse will still leave a significant mark on one s identity, partially altering their previous discourse. This notion relates specifically to Gee s reference of creolization. He uses partial language mastery as an example, but from my personal experience, I have combined the Discourse of Peruvian culture engrossed with my American culture, even though I am not entirely proficient in the Spanish ... You conduct your demand analysis that leads you to believe that what you packed is just what you need. Every deployment you had been on before confirms that those are the assets that will lead you to mission success. However, this deployment is different and just about everything you brought is not required and to source it from else where will take too long. In the near future the most viable solution will be to print it. As 3D printing now formally known as Additive Manufacturing (AM) evolves, the possibility of have everything you need at your fingertips will have a profound impact on your operational readiness. Implementation of additive manufacturing at the Intermediate level (I Level) of a Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron, will drastically reduce the acquisition and production lead times associated with low demand items, items that are impacted with obsolescence, and drastically reduce cost and footprint of conventional logistic models. One advantage of AM is dramatically reducing acquisition and production lead time associated with low demand items. Currently, Defense Logistics Agency s (DLA) demand forecasting is predicated on either previous demand history or flight hours which will determine how much to buy and how much to stock. This formula is great for the high demand and major end items as they are more predictable with continuous monitoring for any changes in pattern. Utilizing this forecasting ... • 21. Once More To The Lake Analysis Once More To The Lake by E.B White features stylistic and rhetorical strategies such as literary tone and flashbacks. Through the use of White s flashbacks to his earlier childhood at the lake, the literary tone of nostalgia and reminiscent sentiment is set. The nostalgic attitude of the work contributes to the heartfelt tone of the piece as White transports the audience to a meaningful time in his life. Furthermore, the use of the various flashbacks helps White relate his childhood to his child, creating a parallel between White and his father, when he was his childs age. Through this sentimental tone, the overall meaning of the work is created as it displays how time does not change memories, even if time has changed the present day. Together, these stylistic choices affect the audience s reactions as the reader is able to identify how the lake represents the authors unfading and untouchable memories of his younger days. White s purpose for writing this piece was to describe how memories can not be changed despite how time changes everything around it. This can be seen when the author states that the middle road in the dusty field was gone, leaving two roads. Despite this change, the author states that the way led past the tennis court, and ... One of the most important differences between a copy and simulacrum is that the copy is filled with the resemblance whilst the simulacrum lacks resemblance (Hart 2004:53). The existence of an original is what enables the sense of authenticity, if there is no original there is no question of authenticity (Benjamin 2004:795). In creating a copy, the distance between the object and audience is narrowed and the aura of the artwork is destroyed when it removes the uniqueness that is evident in the original (Benjamin ... • 43. Argumentative Paper Euthanasia Should Euthanasia be legalized? Because of remarkable advances in medical technology pharmacology that can artificially prolong a patient s life, the field of medical ethics has been confronted with a new controversy: the legalization of euthanasia and physician assisted suicide. The word Euthanasia comes from the Greek word for eus which means godly or well, and thanathos which literally means death (F.A. Davis Company, 2001, p. 476). Before its contemporary use, the word euthanasia meant a peaceful, quiet way to depart from earth. However, in modern times, this concept has sparked an incredible controversy. Today, the word euthanasia also commonly, but wrongfully, used for the practices of physician assisted suicide (PAS). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Literally the oath reads ...that I will exercise my art solely for the cure of my patients, and will give no drug, perform no operation for a criminal purpose, even if solicited, far less suggested (North, 2002). In addition, they assert, that euthanasia and PAS violates their principals of nonmaleficence (the belief of not inflicting harm on an individual) (Beauchamp Childress, 1989, p. 194) and beneficence (positive acts of preventing harm, removing harm, and promoting good) (1989, p. 121). Additionally they claim that such crucial end of life decisions can be reduced by proper and suitable palliative care, and efficient pharmaceutical pain management (Hendin, 2004, p. 9). Opponents of euthanasia and PAS also maintain that the sanctity of life overrules the right to personal freedom and choice. Religion and cultural background play a major role in those attitudes. Some claim that the concept that an individual has a right to die is rejected on the basis that death is inevitability, not a right (Ledger, 2007, p. 81). Others quote the six commandment of the Christian faith that states thou shall not kill (murder) (Exodus 20:6). Christians believe that human life is sacred. The Catechism of the Catholic Church number 2281 denounces the act of suicide as a contradiction to the natural inclination of the human being to preserve and perpetuate his life (Catholic Online, 2008). • 44. I Had Never Get Out Of Your Head You know that experience you have that you can really never get out of your head? It is not a good memory, one you will probably not tell your mother about until you are well in your forties? I had one of those during my second week of college. My group of friends that experienced this night with me included my roommate Dionia, Reggie, Reginald, and Fredrek. I met Reggie through Dionia, they are both from Orangeburg, SC and attended the same high school. Reginald is Reggie s roommate which is how I met Reginald, and Fredrek is Reginald s friend. Fredrek, Reginald and I all happen to be from the same town so we all clicked instantly. The second week of school we were all ready to go out and had some fun, that night we decided to meet up in my dorm so we could go out together. Until that night on Franklin Boulevard I had never felt so scared and helpless in my life. I was never a person to go out and party in my hometown, but being 18 and in college I decided I would branch out a little but not to where I would be uncomfortable. Coming to Greensboro I knew there were parts of the city that were prone to violence, being new to the city I did not know where those areas were just yet. We decided earlier in the week that we were going to go out that Saturday, Fredrek started looking on Snapchat for addresses or any flyers for parties that we could go to. He found two, one was downtown at a club and the other was a house party. The night we were going out we took an Uber while ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. The Importance Of Voting Rights In The United States What can be done to assure that United States (U.S.) citizens do not lose voting rights, but regain rights that have been lost? First, we have to look at the bigger picture of the whole world; then look at history; and then at ourselves. Over time, we have been through absolute monarchy, dictatorship, and slavery which were once legal in our United States (U.S.) government once upon a time. Today, these positions and institutions do not exist. Now, in today s government of the U.S. we have come a long way to make things exceptional among ourselves. Voting rights have helped a lot because they have given all of United States (U.S.) citizens a voice, whether positive or negative. So can you consider this discussion on this subject and ... • 46. Bladder Research Paper Bladder is one of the organ which is part of the urinary system of body. The major function of the bladder is to store urine produced in the kidney prior to urination. The urinary system of the body ensures the removal of wastes and excess fluid from the body in the form of urine. To ensure normal urination to ensue, all the parts in the urinary system have to work in the right order. The process of urine elimination begins in the kidney and ends in the urethra. Human body is composed of a pair of kidneys which is bean shaped and located right under the rib cage each on one side of the spine (Keast et al., 2015) (where in this Kanai paper is this mentioned?). • 47. Pandemic Death Monologue Pandemic Death So It started when I was young about nine years of age and it was early in the year 1350. It started a little like this, there was a knock on the door and I got up to go see who it was. When I opened the door there was a man on his horse. The man asked my parents were home, they were, so I said I could go and get them. Once I had gotten my parents the man asked if they are willing to go on a trip through the sea to Kwillining, London. They said they would, so they put in there few overalls and dirty old jeans into a small waggon that are going to have to hall 46 miles to get to the ship. I have two brothers ... • 48. The Arms Race and How it Changed the United States of America The Evil Empire that is what, at the height of the arms race, United States President Ronald Reagan called the Soviet Union (Rudolph 1). Unsurprisingly, the Soviet Union was similarly upset at the United States. This anger is what fueled the arms race. During the Cold War, due to fears of nuclear attack, the US and Soviet Union designed and deployed thousands of nuclear warheads, each hoping to deter the other from nuclear launch with threat of counter attack (O Neal 1). This massive arms buildup, however, had many negative effects on the US. To recognize the impact that the arms race continues to have on today, it is crucial to understand not only its causes, but also its immediate impacts on the US economy, society, foreign ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This preparation took the form of an arms race. The arms race was a competitive acquisition of weapons by the Soviet Union and the United States. (Boilard 1). The strategy behind the arms race was to amass more nuclear weapons than the opponent, thus enabling them to win any future nuclear war. It was assumed that if nuclear war happened, then the country with the most nuclear weapons would destroy more of the other country, consequently winning the war (Boilard 1). Under this strategy, the Soviet Union built about 45,000 nuclear warheads, and obtained enough radioactive materials to triple that. The Soviet Union also placed tactical missile sites in many countries from Cuba to Kazakhstan, hoping to be able to perform a fast strike from close range if necessary (O Neal 1). Likewise, the US placed missiles in Europe and started the Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI) program. The SDI program was meant to defend against a nuclear attack. The SDI program included satellites with lasers and nuclear powered railguns, which would ideally be able to shoot down approaching missiles long before they reached their target. The SDI program was also referred to as Star Wars because its use of lasers in space made it seem like science fiction. Furthermore, the price, amount of electricity needed to power these weapons, and amount of research needed was so great that the project was abandoned several billion dollars later (Rudolph 2).
