The Five Pillars Of Islam
The Hajj Pilgrimage a) What is the Hajj Pilgrimage? Hajj is a Muslim pilgrimage to Mecca and
is one of the five pillars of Islam. Every Muslim is expected to go on the pilgrimage at least once
in their lifetime. The Hajj usually takes place during the month of Dhu al Hijja which is the last
month in the Islamic calendar. b) What is the history behind the pilgrimage? The hajj is said to
have originated in the 2000BC. Ibrahim, his wife Hager and their son Ishmael were stranded on
a desert and Ishmael was close to death from thirst when the angel jibril touched earth and created
a fresh spring of water for Ishmael to drink from. This place was called the well of Zemzem.
Following this, Ibrahim built a monument called kaaba in the place of... Show more content on

Outline what happens in at least two different Baptismal services. Refer to the symbolism
involved. Infant baptism The infant is dressed in white clothing that represents the purity gained
after the completion if the baptismal service. Water is poured on to the forehead of the child or
the child is immersed in water by the priest in the presence of the parents, god parents and
generally a sponsor. The specific way that the procedure has to take place can depend on the
choosing of the family. Believers baptism The person being baptised publicly confirms their
understanding of the baptism and the acceptance of God into their life by answering a series of
questions. Then a member of the church immerses them in water. The procedure symbolises the
spiritual rebirth or awakening which has taken place in their lives and their will to follow Christ
in life. 4. How does this practice express the beliefs of Christianity? (refer to sacred texts,
traditions and statements by leaders of various denominations) Baptism tells us of the death, burial
and resurrection of Jesus and our very own death, burial and resurrection. He who is baptized will
be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned (Mark

The Catcher In The Rye Essay
The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger is about a boy named Holden Caulfield and his struggle
with life. Like any other teenager, he is simply looking for his place in the world. However, it is
shown that Holden is no ordinary teenager for he displays many signs of depression. His
depression seems to escalate throughout the novel. For example, many nights he has trouble
sleeping, he also is quite the alcoholic and a heavy smoker, he doesnt feed his body with the proper
nutrients and he talks of committing suicideat various points in the novel. Holden feels he has
been alienated his whole life and that after losing his brother Allie, there was really no place for
him anywhere. Holden Caulfield is a complex character that is in need of... Show more content on

The last time Id eaten was those two hamburgers I had with Brossard and Ackley when we went
in to Agerstown to the movies. That was a long time ago. It seemed like fifty years ago.(105)
Although Holden is aware that he hasnt eaten in quite some time, he just hasnt felt hungry.
Holdens nutrition is just all over the place. His depression has forced him to do crazy things.
For example, after a night of drinking Holden says, I puked before I went to bed, but I didnt
really have to I forced myself.(90) This shows that Holden is hurting his body in defiantly more
ways than one. Holden is also aware that he is somewhat depressed due to his lousy feelings and
inability to eat much of anything. Holden is on a walk when he says, Id feel better if I had
something to eat. So I went in this very cheap looking restaurant and had doughnuts and coffee.
Only, I didnt eat the doughnuts. I couldnt swallow them too well. The thing is if you get very
depressed about something, its hard as hell to swallow.(196) This just goes to show that Holden
is very depressed and it effects the way he handles simple tasks such as eating. Even though he is
aware of his depression, Holden does not speak of seeing a psychiatrist for serious issues such as
his malnutrition even though he should really see one.
An obvious sign of Holdens depression is the fact that he talks of committing suicide at various
points of the novel. Every time Holden is feeling really lousy he would

Essay On Chronic Pain
San Diego_In Home Care and Chronic Pain
When pain lasts three to six months or more, it is considered chronic pain. According to the
American Geriatrics Association, more than 50 percent of seniors living at home and up to 80
percent of those in care facilities suffer from chronic pain. As a result, a great number of these
seniors are not able to function properly during the day or sleep well at night. Some of the most
frequent causes of chronic pain in seniors are arthritis, glaucoma, poor circulation, and nerve
damage.
For seniors who choose to remain in their own residence despite their pain, in home care often
makes a significant difference by allowing them to maintain their freedom, independence, and high
quality of life. Some of the most popular services include light housekeeping, laundry, and
transportation services since many seniors with chronic pain are not longer able to drive.
Additionally, medication management support is important because of the vast numbers and
varieties of medications most seniors with chronic pain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While it may initially seem that exercise will hurt even more with chronic pain, the reality is that
physical activity is one of the best ways to reduce pain. According to Dr. Wayne McCormick, the
chief of the Division of Gerontology and Geriatric Medicine at the University of Washington,
Staying active is one of the most effective ways to make living with chronic pain a more
tolerable experience...We try to make people continue to be active because when people have
pain they tend to focus on it more. There have been trials on whether it is best to keep people at
rest or moving about with pain. The best is keeping active. If your senior loved one needs
transportation support, emotional support, or even physical assistance to keep physically active or
engage in an exercise routine, in home care personnel are there to

Later on at Merrill Lynch when she has to hire Chung the first thing he asks for is his own
private office to deal with Taiwanese business. Then when they start and he is asked to sit at a
sales assistant desk (norm) he simply says it is beneath him and refuses to sit there showing us
his prominent role confusion. Unlike all the other employees Chung did not sift in the office he
spent most of his time outside of the office and attending various events of the Taiwanese
community. Although Karen has made great strides in the business world she also faces some
struggles. Her first major problem is that she is a woman with no international connections.
Being a woman is hard enough to gain respect and work your way up in the business world,
having connections are very important in businesses like Merrill Lynch because a lot of people
making big accounts are international client. Her next big problem is hiring people. She has to
meet with them many times before she decides if they are good enough to work for this company.
She has a big responsibility to make the company successful and if she hires a bad worker it is
costing the company mega bucks. Another problem she has is Chung. He is her first Taiwanese
worker and she is very unfamiliar of these different cultures and how to incorporate them in her
sales. Along with the unfamiliarity of Chung and his

Steganography Critical Review
PurposeThis critical review is to investigate steganographic studies and their methods to either
exfiltrate data or defend against data exfiltration. Steganography has one main purpose, to conceal
data. Huang s (2011) method, embedding steganographic data in inactive frames of low bit rate
audio streams went against the norm (Aoki, 2008), (Wu et al., 2006), used active frames of high
bit rate audio streams. Active high bit rate audio streams have higher least significant bit counts,
which presents added frames to conceal steganographic payloads (Huang et al., 2011). Howbeit,
Huang (2011) demonstrated a new algorithm he administered to (VOIP) inactive frames of low bit
audio streams, which could carry higher capacity payloads than... Show more content on

Nagaraja s (2011) research purpose was to initiate future studies into defensive measures against
botnets. Botnets have a unique ability to coordinate the sending and receiving of new commands to
bots that grant the botmaster immense power to execute criminal activities, such as, phishing
attacks, DDoS attacks, and ransomware attacks (Nagaraja, et al., 2011). Which have intensified to
where presently botnets control hundreds of thousands of hosts and produce millions of dollars in
revenue for their creators (Nagaraja, et al., 2011). Contrary to traditional botnets, Stegobot s
communication traffic does not open new communication endpoints between the bots (Nagaraja, et
al., 2011). Stegobot takes advantage of social media networks by operating along the edges, while
utilizing image steganography techniques to hide covert communication during the interchanging
of images among users (Nagaraja, et al., 2011). Network traffic visualization method designed by
Mazurczyk (2012) focuses on network anomaly detection principles. Mazurczyk s main purpose of
doing his research was to detect anomalies in network traffic flow, that can cause malicious actions
that could compromise network security. Typical anomaly detection methods instituted across
networks focus on discovering illegal activities orchestrated by probable attackers (Mazurczyk, et
al., 2012). Current security devices lack the effectiveness needed in today s immense traffic
volumes that need current real time

The Indian Ocean Trade
Between 650 C.E. and 1450 C.E., trade and interaction in the Indian Ocean was the largest in the
world. Although the Indian Ocean trade network was small when it first began, the network was
able to expand and led to the inclusion of Europe while the exchange of ideas, goods and religion
remained constant. During this time period, the construction of large and powerful states provided
security for merchants and travelers, which helped long distance commerce. The golden ages of
numerous powerful states also led to the flourishing of ideas.
At the beginning of the time period, Malay sailors learn how to use the winds from monsoons to
sail to China and India. This allowed for the exchange of knowledge and allowed the various
groups of people to make connections. The Malay sailors desired the cotton and sugar from India
and also craved the silk from China, and spices such as cinnamon, pepper, cloves, nutmeg and mace
from the East Indies. This trade network was small when it was first established.
As time progresses, changes within the Indian Ocean region occur. New states were created such as
Srivijaya and the Swahili City States. Trade routes expand to further distances. Connections are
made to the Trans Saharan trade in Africa. The East African Swahili city states also become
incorporated into this trade network. Greater inclusion of China, the Tang and Song dynasties, adds
to the extensive trade network. Controlling empires also fluctuate throughout the time period.

Invasive Species Essay
My aquatic invasive species is the water chestnut. Though it is not too common in Indiana waters, it
is on the invasive species list, due to the prediction that it will quickly become a threat. It is an
aquatic plant native to Eurasia. Currently, it is naturalized in North America and Australia. The
states that it is most common in Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, and others on the eastern coast. The
water chestnut or the Trapas Natan is a rosette of floating leaves usually rooted in mud near small
marshes, lakes, and nutrient rich river banks. Its stem can grow up to 15 feet long, and allows
movement in mucky substances. It has small white flower with four petals. The water chestnut plant
produces a small, nut like fruitabout an inch wide. Each individual rosette can produce up to 25
seeds, leading to extremely quick growth. The water chestnut was introduced to the area by
University botanists that were studying the plant. And due to the quick... Show more content on

Other less successful attempts include using biological insects to control the population and large
scale harvesting. Both of these failed due to the water chestnut replacing itself at an exponential
rate. And as the seeds are carried by wind and water, they make their way to new areas, where they
are established within a few days, there is no true method developed to stop the growth of water
chestnuts.
My terrestrial invasive species is the mute swan. Other swan species like the trumpeter swan and
tundra swan are protected under the Migratory Bird Species Act, the mute swan is exotic and was
removed from the protected list. However, Indiana has a law against owning or killing a mute
swan, so they are becoming a problem in our area. The mute swan is native to Europe and Asia, but
is now acclimated to the Midwest and the Eastern Coast of the United States, where the population

Examples Of Storm In A Very Old Man With Enormous Wings
In Marquez s short story A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings, a storm is evidently passing
through. Pelayo, Elisenda and their family seem to live near an ocean being that crabs have
flooded their yard. Their child was sick which they presumed was due to the stench of the
thousands of crabs present. Pelayo went to clean up the crab catastrophe only to discover a
winged, not so angelic looking man lying face down in the dirt. He begins to believe that the
man is an angel who was coming to take his child as if the child was going to pass away, but the
angel never quite made it to them. The man did not move so they moved him themselves placing
him in their chicken coop. Word traveled quickly about this strange creature being on their
property and people began coming from everywhere to check him out for themselves. The local
priest decided the man could not be an angel because he didn t have that angelic appearance, but
rather that of a person who had been sleeping out on the streets. However, everyone still
perceived the man as an angel when truthfully, he was just a dirty man with wings residing in a
coop. People began coming to him from far and wide seeking out advice. There was such a large
turn out that Elisenda began charging people to see him and obtained enough funding to allow both
of them to stop working and buy property. However, the old man eventually gains the strength it
takes for him to fly away. Connections This story connects to the real world through

Untidy Bungalow Quotes
Because her mother is obsessed with a craving for materialistic gratification, Mary, at the
beginning of this book, acts like a materialist at a young age, which is embodied by her material
interests and her indifference toward the world. In the second chapter, Burnett narrates, ...they wore
shabby clothes and were always quarreling and snatching toys from each other. Mary hated their
untidy bungalow... (9) The verb hated implies that Mary cannot even bear the shabby clothes or
untidy bungalow . She is not able to be satisfied with life without maidservant, luxurious house or
elegant clothes, either. Growing up alone in a world full of shallow materialism, Mary, like her
mother, also has devotion to material needs and desires . In addition, Mary shows her indifference
to the other people and the outside world, like Burnett emphasizes, as she... Show more content on

The author uses the traumatic childhood of Mary, a young girl who is poisoned by materialism,
to reveal the threat posed to the youthful spirit of a nation by the materialism of industrial
progress (Thacker and Webb, 16). And Deborah Cogan Thacker and Jean Webb s another
argument adds complexity to the analysis: [Burnett] does this by constructing the character and
childhood experiences of Mary as negative projections against an idealized model of the Romantic
child. (91) Indulging in the material comfort and living in her own world, Mary is initially the
counter example of the Romantic child who is expected to have a quality of innocence, to be
imaginative and playful, and also to display an intuitive relationship with nature (Thacker and
Webb, 91). To sum up, on the first page of the story, Mary is both the personification and the victim
of materialism; this fact not only supports Burnett s rejection of shallow materialism, but also lays
the foundation of Mary s substantial shift the a Romantic child in the

Denali National Bear Argumentative Essay
Tourists appear in Yellowstone National Park to see the world s geysers and to observe the
wildlife. Most people go to observe the animals and take pictures while they are there, but what
they do not know is that it can be threatening. While people are taking pictures they do not know
the proper precautions about being close to them. People do not know how the bears will react
based upon spotting you. Although, there would be less attacks, bears should not be removed
because it is there natural habitat, people are desensitizing bears, and bears attacking have been
a defensive act. First, bears should not be removed because it is their common territory. In
article 2 it states, Denali National Park and preserve is home to both black bears and grizzly
bears (National Park Service n.p.). Since, Denali is a preserve to the bears that means
Yellowstone and Yosemite National Park are preserves to them too. If rangers are removing the

Private Military Contractors In The Middle East
Throughout the Middle East, the use of private military contractors has significantly heightened,
due to the call of attacks in these countries. PMC s take up much cost for a country to fund, and
the increasing rates are bringing drawbacks onto working citizens. However, there PMC s are also
vital in order for a country to maintain its armed security forces. On the other hand, mercenaries
are people who take part in armed conflicts. The PMC s hire these mercenaries to work under them
in helping take part in hostilities, but receive benefits for their own gains. Recently, the United
Nations MercenaryConvention (UNMC) has placed restrictions upon PMC s in the use of
mercenaries, in order to create specifications between commercial and government uses of these
protection services. Sweden has very little support and funds for the use of these PMC s, due to the
lack of high military activity.
Current Issues: In the Middle East, and other countries active in their military uses, are raising high
questions of controversy against whether or not PMC s should be implemented at an international
scale. After these countries in the middle east have been hit with attacks, there has been thought
on how to promote entrusted security for the countries. However, the use of these PMC s can lead
to security faults in diplomatic officials, and can cause unstable regions throughout a country as
we have seen happen in Libya in 2012. On the contrary, PMC s can be ideal in post war

Depression was an economic slump in North America and Europe. The industrialized Western
world had experienced the most ruthless and prolonged depression. Cinderella Man is only one

financial. For example economic factors where, poor distribution of wealth, many consumers relied

In view of the fact that consumers are not purchasing as much food, farmers are struggling in
saving their farms. Also, the drought or also known as the dust storms are contributing to this
reason. Since people were not buying as much the farmers could not afford to keep the farms,
and the drought was making it even more difficult to grow food. Therefore, unable to make
payments they would either file for bankruptcy or may be foreclosed. With these failures came
unemployment, this is cause by not having enough jobs for people. The unemployment rate rose

Jeremy Armitage Get Out Racism
Racism is often portrayed in terms of Jim Crow and the extreme hatred of white supremacy.
Contemporary racism is portrayed differently in Get Out in contrast to how racism is generally
perceived. The Armitage family and associates covet stereotypes associated with Black skin, as
Black is in fashion (Get Out). Get Out serves as a commentary on contemporary racismand how
stereotypes are not necessarily condescending towards Black peoplebut are often positive, but that
does not mean that the stereotypes are not harmful. Although the assumptions the Armitage family

The Development of the Travel and Tourism Industry
Throughout history, people have travelled across Britain for purposes of trade, education, religion
and to fight in battles. It was not until the eighteenth century, however, that the foundations of what

The rise of seaside resorts
In 1752 Dr Richard Russell published Concerning the Use of Sea Water which led to an increase
in seaside resorts as doctors began to realise that the healing and relaxing minerals that were present
in spa waters were also to be found in the sea. Resorts such as Southend, Brighton and Blackpool
began to increase in popularity. Accommodation, catering and entertainment facilities were
developed in the resorts, some of which benefited from the introduction of steamboat services in the
early nineteenth century, a factor that led to the contribution of many of the piers still seen at
seaside resorts today.
The introduction of holiday camps
The first purpose built holiday camp was opened by Billy Butlin in 1936 at Skegness. Holiday
camps worked on the simple principle that if the children were happy on holiday then the parents
would be happy as well. Holiday camps provided entertainment and activities for both parents and
children at a low, all inclusive rate with the added bonus of a child minding service to allow the
parents to enjoy themselves. Butlin s and Warners became market leaders in this type of holiday
which still survives to this day.
Increasing car ownership
The increase of car ownership after the Second World War provided individuals with greater
freedom and flexibility in the use of their leisure time. People travelled

Symbolism In Strange Fruit, By Abel Meeropol
The poem Strange Fruit by Abel Meeropol, could be described as dark and graphic, as it
embodies Southern violence in America. The poem describes the lynching of black slaves, which
was generally presented to an audience of whites. Billie Holiday, a black female artist, would sing
the poem to a predominantly upper class white club. But strangely, the poem was written by a white
man, Abel Meeropol. Although the last confirmed lynching was in 1968, there are other forms of
racially motivated killings and violence in the United Statestoday such as police brutality and the
race riots formed by white supremacist in Charlottesville. White America is linked and always
will be to the history of black killings. To understand what some of the lynching s could have
looked like, Meeropol made the poem very vivid with many examples of imagery within it as well
as the many dark metaphors he placed throughout the poem.
To understand why Strange Fruit transpired in the first place, it is important to realize the
terrible acts committed during the 1930s. The first slave ship sailed across the Atlantic Ocean in
1619 and from then on, slavery would be etched into the history of America. For 246 years, slaves
worked in numerous fields of crops while being sold, traded, raped, and killed. Even after the
abolishment of slavery, Jim Crow laws started taking affect soon after around the 1880s. Although
Jim Crow laws were separate but equal rights, it was as if they were unfair and unjust rights.

The Psychosocial Intervention And Length Of Survival
Spiegel et al. found a significant relationship between the psychosocial intervention and length of
survival (1989). Women in the treatment condition attending support groups lived an average of 36
months compared to women in the control group who lived on average 18 months. Participants
who attended weekly support groups lived twice as long as those in the control group. This finding
demonstrated the incredible positive impact social support could have on patients with breast cancer
. Social support increased immune functioning and survival rates, and Yilmaz, Bal, Benji, and
Arvas attributed this effect to the idea that social support impacted the way people chose to cope
with a cancer diagnosis (2015). Yilmaz et al. studied 221 women with gynecologic cancer to
investigate how coping with stress related to social support (2015). The cross sectional study
conducted in Turkey collected data from three questionnaires that included sociodemographic and
clinical features, the Scale of Ways of Coping With Stress, and the Multidimensional Scale of
Perceived Social Support that measured social support within family, friends, and a significant
other. Effective coping strategies in the Scales of Ways of Coping With Stress included an
optimistic approach, a self confident approach, and seeking social support, while ineffective coping
strategies included a hopelessness approach and a submissive approach (Folkman Lazarus, 1980).

Essay on Messages Revealed in Annie Dillard s, An American...
In An American Childhood by Annie Dillard, Dillard reminisces on her many adventures
throughout her childhood living in Pittsburgh. Her stories explain her school, her home life, her
family, and growing up. Dillard also talks about changes in her life, and how they affect her, and
how she felt about others around her. One s childhoodis a crucial part of life, because it s a time of
learning more than any other time of life. Childhood is a time of curiosity and realization. What
you learn in your childhood has a big impact on how you make decisions and act as an adult. One
message that I found while reading An American Childhood is that life is sometimes not what it
seems. Annie Dillardexplained this concept when she said, The... Show more content on

I would not let this happen to me. (Dillard, P.26) She had realized how people s youthful
appearance deteriorate as they aged. It kind of scared her, because she didn t want it happening
to her. Another difference Dillard observed was religion. She disliked the Catholic
schoolchildren, because she was afraid of their beliefs. She expressed thoughts on how uptight
the religion was compared to her own when she said Whatever the pope said, I thought it was no
prize, it didn t work, our Protestant lives were much sunnier, without our half trying. (Dillard, P.
33). She also talked about changes in Pittsburgh s appearance. City workers continually paved the
streets, They poured asphalt over the streetcar tracks, streetcar tracks their fathers had wormed
between the old riverworn cobblestones, cobblestones laid smack into the notorious nineteenth
century mud. This message is important because after childhood, you start to grow more aware of
the world around you, which is a big change. Children are often oblivious to changes, but as you
get older, you notice how things change more up close and personal. Throughout An American
Childhood, Dillard expresses how significant history of various subjects are. We children lived and
breathed our history our Pittsburgh history, so crucial to the country s story and so typical of it as
well without knowing for believing any of it.

The Influence Of Mikhail Gorbachev On The Soviet Union
One of the most obvious changes Mikhail Gorbachev had on the Soviet Union is how he worked
towards reforming their economy. He acknowledged and faced the issue head on. Gorbachev
realized that the Soviet Union s economy was focused solely on producing weapons for the
military. Seeking to fix this, he met with United States President Ronald Reagan to discuss limiting
both countries weapons. Although these talks weren t all successful, they were still a sign of great
progress compared to the relationship the two countries had previously had.
Another one of the many things Mikhail Gorbachev is remembered for is his policy of glasnost,
which means openness. Unlike his predecessors, Gorbachev believed that citizens of the Soviet

The Culture Of Spain And Spain
The following is an overview of the culture of Spain.
1. Values and attitudes
Family, including extended family is extremely important in Spanish culture and is the basis of
society. Families provide a social and sometimes financial support network. Increased
individualism is having its effect, however, as families become less close, family size decreases
and a respect for personal preference decreases the frequency of people working for their family
businesses (Spain Language, Culture, Customs and Etiquette).
General manners and customs
Spanish culture is unique in Europe, but similar enough for people to easily adapt. In Spain, men
greet each other with handshakes or hugs and women greet everyone with a kiss on both cheeks
(Spain Language, Culture, Customs and Etiquette). People verbally greet strangers in places like
elevators, shops, lockers rooms, etc. (Hendr). Dress is more formal in Spain and shorts are not
usually worn in public (Priest). When dining, it is important to keep both hands visible on the table
and use utensils to eat most things (Spain Language, Culture, Customs and Etiquette).
3. Business specific manners and customs
Spaniards conduct their business very personally. They prefer face to face contact and like to
engage in small talk to get to know the other party before beginning a business relationship. They
tend to only do business with people that have earned their trust (Spain Language, Culture, Customs
and Etiquette). Conducting business

Farm Transition
As children, my grandfather offered my brother and me a job on his farm. He took the time to
employ us for many reasons: cheap labor mainly. However, for us, this opportunity offered much
more. It gave us a source of income, character growth, experience, and most of all it gave us
perspective. From about the fourth grade all the way up to the seventh, I spent my summers toiling
on that one twenty acre piece of land. Many of the experiences that I have there play a significant
role in who I am today. Over the four summers, I watched my grandfather s farmtransition from
growing organic produce to farming livestock. The tasks that go along with both of these types of
farming are demanding, and I faced with a few of them. I can recall two... Show more content on

This experience was one of the most physically demanding I have ever completed. One of the
workers sat in the skid steer that had the auger attachment on it and dug the holes in front of us.
Another one sat in the work cart that held the post and followed the skid steer placing posts at
each hole. My brother and I followed behind them. We each carried a spud bar, a seventeen
pound bar with one flat circle end that is about three inches in diameter, and a shovel. We made
a competition out of who could sturdily place their post the fastest. Each post took about eight
minutes, after figuring out the best way to do it. With every post I managed to put into the
ground, I grew tired and hot. The sun burned down on us; my arms had begun to feel weak, I
was two post behind my brother. I remained like that for the remained of the day. By the end of
the week, we had placed over five hundred fence post. My body ached, and my hands had blisters
covering them. Though I whined, I knew that had grown for this burden. My grandfather s farm
theoretically made me who I am. These tasks put me through adversity. They tested me in ways
no other experiences would: challenging my ability to persevere. I developed morals and values
that have stay with me. One of such being the value of hard work. Up until these tasks, I had not

influenced by observing the behaviors of their peers and the reaction to that behavior. Also of

Big Dat An Essential Part Of Every Business Operation
Introduction:
You may have heard the term Big Data often these days and the importance of analytics attached to
it. The availability of good data set and analytics of it provide organizations ability to understand
consumer behavior and future prospects. This has now become an essential part of every business
operation. Data itself is not a new thing to humans, written records have been in existence since 4th
millennium BC. What has changed recently is that with digital inventions and significant growth in
internet access, most people are on the electronic grid for longer periods and spending lot of time
on emails, messaging, entertainment and social media applications. This huge growth in data
generation has given birth to the concept of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For most organizations, data analysis is a challenging task, as first it require dealing with both
structured and unstructured forms of data. Then an organization may have to deal with data
stored across many separate silos (as various groups such as sales marketing; operations and
supply chain management etc., may have separate IT systems). It is also quite possible that most
of the silo systems do not talk to each other, this is especially true of the legacy platforms which
may have technical challenges in connecting to each other or may require use of special software
interfaces. Lastly the volume of data is large to process and the traditional tools may not be
effective to do such analysis. To handle various types of data (structured and unstructured) and large
data volumes, many vendors have developed specialized software which can perform predictive
analysis, data mining, forecasting and optimization. Together these tools are referred to as high
performance analytics.
In comparison to the traditional business intelligence, big data does provide major improvements.
Traditional business intelligence is top down approach whereas big data is bottom up and
empowers end users with a valuable analysis thus enabling them to take prompt and smart
business decisions. The value generated from big data analytics is applicable to all sectors. The
advantages of big data analytics are huge but it also raise serious concerns

Pros And Cons Of Ration Books And The Rationing System
Ration books With the onset of WWII, the United States needed a system to savor their supplies,
so the government put in place the rationing system. They used ration books to get supplies like
meat and sugar from grocery stores, a ration book was kind of like a coupon book, you couldn t
buy a rationed item without having a ration stampfor that item (National WWII museum).
So it s like a mix of a coupon book, and a you have permission to buy this item stamp. But nothing
is perfect, not even the ration books, so here are some cons the ration books the rationing system
spawned. First, that the ration system/books spawned that was illegal was the black market,
since you could only buy something if you had a rationing stamp from a grocery store, people
sometimes needed more than they had, so the black market allowed people to buy rationed
items for a higher price, and they didn t need the ration stamp for that item (United States
History). One aspect of the rationing system was that the food wasn t very fresh, so if people
wanted some fresh vegetables they had to make their own gardens (victory gardens) and once
they did that their family could enjoy fresh food for a few months while the garden was still alive,
many people did this, there were approximately 20 million victory gardens (20,000,000) (United
States History). In addition, if you had a ration stamp for an item, it wasn t guaranteed that the store
had the item that you needed because there were a lot of

Abstract Technological advancement in computer technology has opened new horizons for human

Computer forensic involves complex nature of evidence. It makes computer forensic weaker in the
eyes of law. There are many inter organizational and legal issues involved in investigation.
Evidence collected from a computer device must be legally acceptable and it requires a dedicated,
flexible and comprehensive forensics framework.
2. Problem defined
The rapid growth of computer technology has created new opportunities for criminals to exploit
online vulnerabilities against information stored and transmitted over advanced communication
networks. The future growth of the information technology is endangered from growing cyber
threats. [1]
There are two main interlinked problem areas [2] highlighted in this research. First one is the
procedural framework of forensics framework. Second one is the legal framework of the electronic
crimes in Pakistan.
Cyber threat is a global problem and it needs a global solution, involving all stakeholders. All
countries linked together through cyber space must have adequate laws to cop with electronic

Although PECO covers a lot of criminal scope yet many limitations are there in this ordinance.

A Life Or Death Situation By Robin Marantz Henig Essay
A Life or Death Situation, by Robin Marantz Henig, New York Times, July, 2013, is a review of
the debate surrounding the right to a dignified death. It examines the purely philosophical view
of the issue; as well as the heart wrenching reality of being faced with that question in one s
personal life. Does a person have a right to choose how he or she dies? How does that choice
impact the people who care about about him or her? Should a person who cares about someone
be required to cause or aide in his or her death? These questions weigh heavy on the minds of
many people, who live with injured, impaired and physically incapable people everyday. I
selected this article, because it is relevant in my life. My sister, passed in August. She had
suffered from lung disease for over 10 years, even though she was totally dependent on the

plaintiff can prove every contention alleged in the complaint. The affirmative defenses must be
alleged in the answer or they are generally deemed waived. Whether a matter is an affirmative

limitations, operate as affirmative defenses in all kinds of cases. 5. It follows the same general

Personal feelings certainly affect CPI. I know we don t live in an ideal world, but if we did,
everyone would engage in CPI with the attitude of, If it smells like muda, it s muda.1 We can
work together to eliminate it. We could plan a series of half day workshops perhaps five, over
the course of a week during which we could walk through a set of group analysis exercises.
These would help the group understand more about the work process, what your products are,
who your customers are, and which actions might help you build a more consistent flow.
Throughout the workshops, I will encourage participants to discuss common problems and even
to get things that are irking them off their chests. The group will collect their comments on sticky
notes on the board. Then, we ll spend some time grouping the sticky notes into categories. These
categories will be instrumental in helping us determine which of these groupings of problems

Craft Beer Industry Essay
Dosing? Oh Yes You Can
The craft beer industry is growing at a rapid rate and is showing no signs of slowing anytime soon.
You have joined the craft brew business and opened up a successful brewpub.
Thanks to Chart Industries CO2 bulk tank, a nitrogen generator and insulated vacuum hoses, your
brewery is producing American IPAs, with a 4 to 1 CO2 to N2 ratio, and a nitrogen infused (4 to 1
N2 to CO2 ratio) stout that is gaining popularity in your brewpub.
Business is good but you are a true entrepreneur and are thinking on a bigger scale. To date craft
beer makes up 10 percent of total beer sold in the United States. You want a share of that and

By incorporating the doser into your production line, you help eliminate the buildup of oxygen in
the headspace, as the gas is displaced by the LN2. The removal of oxygen helps preserve the shelf
life of the beer and will allow you to ship the beer and increase your footprint.
The dosed can also is pressurized too. This allows your six packs to be better stored and shipped
easily around the nation.
While the craft beer revolution has focused on glass bottles, many breweries have elected to move
toward canning and using 16 ounce cans to differentiate themselves from the macro brewing
giants, who use 12 ounce containers. The cans also provide a larger surface area available for
elaborate branding design. Chart s dosing apparatus makes this possible.
So whether you are going with the traditional bottling or trending toward the 16 ounce beer can,
Chart s dosing technology can deliver the right amount of LN2 to preserve and protect your product.

Overview of Kurdistan Essay
Kurdistan is a region located between Iran, Iraq, Syria and Turkey. The Kurds are the biggest
ethnicity on the planet without a state to this day. This paper will focus on the Iraqi part of
Kurdistan, for it has come the closest to a state like notion as per Weber s definition. Iraqi
Kurdistan is a region characterized by many diplomatic issues due to lack of acceptance as a state.
The region was established through an autonomy agreement with Iraqi government in 1970 after
decades of disputes between the Iraqi government and the Kurds in the north. The region had
already established a government, but it lacked many characteristics that are applicable to a state.
The constant conflict with the Iraqi government has been ongoing since the... Show more content on

For many Kurds, the need for a free independent Kurdistan with all four parts united has not been
forgotten and will never be. Various methods and strategies have been used in the attempt to
establish an independent state, but the prevailing conditions have always been against the Kurds,
until the second Gulf War and the toppling of Saddam. This is attributed to the lack of many
defining characteristics of a state, thus Weber s notion of a state can be used to describe the
prevailing conditions within the Iraqi Kurdistan (Zunes 19). It has been a difficult struggle for Iraqi
Kurdistan to achieve legitimacy as a state due to a lack of acceptance by the international
community and constant disputes with Iraq and neighboring countries.
Notion of a state
Based on Weber s notion of a state, a state can be defined as an establishment that is legitimate and
has the power and authority over its citizenry. Moreover, it should have an influence on the internal
affairs of the state as well as the foreign. As per Weber s specific definition, a state has an imposing
business model on honest to goodness viciousness (Oslon 673) Thus, various institutions and
foundations such as the military, common administration or state organization, courts, and police
characterize the state. The citizenry should also be involved in activities within the state. An
example is private equity whereby the citizenry contributes to the state by facilitating infrastructural
growth and economic

China s One Child Policy
In China, there are more than 1.3 billion people living, working and building families. In 1978,
the government created China s one child policy. China s one child policy was established by
Chinese leader Deng Xiaoping in 1979 to limit China s population growth. The policy lets couples
have only one child. If they have another child the mother is pressured to abort the pregnancy. The
one child policy has brought many disasters to china since the one child policy was established.
First are the problems of the female abortions and the killing of infants. As a result, abortions of
females have become commonplace, as well as the killing of babies born post partum. China s
women must have an abortion, even if ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These eras were characterized by wide scale crime and violence. In the past 19th century, China
has had the same problem before. Where there are more men the more violence there is
especially in the lower classes. Ma Jihong is 38years old and she is six months pregnant. So
when 10 people from the local office showed up one morning in October, she slipped through a
gap in the concrete wall around the house and bolted like a sprinter toward the main road. She
was trying to hide her pregnancy from the government. They took my daughter in law at 9 a.m.
By 5 p.m., she was dead, Gao said. Because of the one child policy Mao had to abort her child
even though she was two months away from labor. In 2009, a woman in Liaocheng, also in
Shandong province, died after being forced to get an abortion a week before her due date. They
made a women abort a full grown baby; it wasn t even a fetus because it was fully developed

citizens don t have sibling, each child will likely have to care for their two parents and every
possibly their four grandparents (hence the 4 2 1 problem. The way that the 4 2 1 problem works
is that the one child has to take care of his parents and if his grandparents are still there they have

Pai s Opinions Of Leadership In Whale Rider
During the first scene in Whale Rider, the protagonist Pai is born into a tribe that depends on her
twin brother on becoming chief, but with his and their mothers death during childbirth, her
grandfather Koro wished in his heat that I (Pai) had never been born). Though his opinion of Pai
changes as she grows and they become very close. Being the chief of the community, Paka takes
tradition and culture very seriously Paka believes that Pai s twin brother was born to be the chief,
though the audience finds out that it was Pai s duty to become chief. But while Pai shows this
clearly, Koro s antiquated ways and beliefs makes it difficult for her to assume her position as chief.

Koro s opinion of leadership is out dated and sexist while Pai s opinions are modern and suit the
new ways of the world today. Koro believes that leading is a man s job and a woman s duty lies
within the house. Pai on the other hand learns that she is just as capable as the other tribe boys
and while she is not allowed to attend the school Koro is running to find a new chief, she seeks
out the help of Rawiri and excels in the leadership qualities Koro is so desperately trying to find
within the boys. Nanny does not show much of an opinion about leadership throughout the
movie, though she does have similar ideas to Koro, You might be the boss out there... But I m
the boss in this kitchen. While she is not as against a female leader like Koro, she still has an out
dated opinion of a woman s duty within the house. Rawiri shows a lot of belief in Pai, especially
when he agrees to teach her how to use the Taiaha behind Koro s back. Though this does not fully
display his ideas on leadership, it does prove to the audience that he believes in Pai and her ability
to lead, therefor showing an understanding of modern ideals about leadership contrary to Paka s
judgment. Paka s ideas on leadership barely change throughout the movie until Pai goes to the
extreme level of riding the whale out to sea. By doing this she ultimately becomes The Whale Rider
, and Koro s traditional view of leadership changes completely. In one of the last scenes, when Pai
is lying in the hospital bed with Paka next to her he begins to talk to her, apologising for his
ways, Wise leader, forgive me. I am just a fledgling new to flight . By saying this he is implying
that he trying to change and accept the modern leadership ideals Pai has brought to the

A Discussion Of Faith Rose Surrounding The World Trade Center
After the Brussels massacre that took place on March 22nd, a question of faith rose surrounding
the sanctity of the Islamic faith. In an article meant to expose answers to this very question John
Kasich brings up a point that when people claim France is at war with Islam, they actually should
be referring to radical Islam. This point pulled further controversy as those who were not Islamic
began to wonder if the faith condoned suicide bombings in the name of expelling infidels and
bringing the coming of the Caliphate. Another case mentioned in the same article details the
prosecution of the Blind Sheikh, whose terrorist group attempted to bring down the World Trade

Muslim conquests lasted from 622 AD to 750 AD, and would continue to move forward until the
18th century. These expansions of religion and politics were led by dynasties of Caliphs ,
beginning with the prophet Muhammad and then the Four Rightly Guided Caliphs. Islam spread
from Mecca to Medina and furthered into central Asia, North Africa, Spain, and parts of the old
Byzantine and Persian empires. Despite this, there is a large misunderstanding about the spread
of Islam during this period of time and why the expansion of the Catholic Church after the Dark
Ages instead takes precedence in Western Europe. The halt of the expansion of Islamic rule in
Europe can be linked back to the Battle of Tours back in 733 AD. This battle was meant to be the
Islamic Empires first expansion into Europe nearing the end of the period called the Dark Ages in
European history. This resulted in the expansion of the early modern Catholic Church in Europe
during the Renaissance and the misunderstanding of Islamic politics. The Prophet Muhammad s
large influences over the foundations of Islam helped shape its empire into a powerful militant
group that would result in the unification of Arabia in 622 AD . From there, Muhammad would be

Research Paper On Latin American Independence
The Independence of Latin America
The Independence of Latin America was a process caused by years of injustices, discriminations,

Spanish Crown used the Americas as a way to gain riches and become greater in power
internationally. Three of the distinct causes leading Latin Americato seek independence from Spain,

interferes with their complete integration into colonial society, and kept them in a legal bubble of
tutelage ruptured only with the advent of independent Mexican nationhood in the third decade of
the nineteenth century (Van Young, 154). The point here is that where these and other legal and
administrative remedies were applied in favor of the Indians of colonial New Spain, they were
applied in the kings name. Furthermore, religious and civic ritual of all kinds constantly stressed
the centrality of the Spanish king to the colonial commonwealth, and his benevolence and fatherly
concern with the welfare of his weakest subjects (Van Young 155). Situated as they were between

The Effect Of Gestational Age And Gender On Fetal And...
A study conducted on Wistar rats at two time points in late gestation investigating the impact of
gestational age and gender on fetal and placental weight. This study demonstrated that fetal and
placental weight increased significantly between days 16 and 21 of gestation whereas gender
showed minimal effect on growth.
Introduction
Fetal development during pregnancy is predominantly related to the placenta and its function in fetal
maternal exchange (Ishikawa et al. 2006). Alterations in the interactions between the fetus and
maternal uterine environment thus permit for the modification in fetal growth. In addition, the
placenta also acts as an endocrine organ that produces hormones necessary for the establishment and
maintenance of pregnancy as well as fetal growth and wellbeing (Malassine, Frendo Evain Brion
2003). Literature suggests fetal growth relies on the mobilisation of maternal nutrients, which
involves placental growth hormone and that dysregulation of the hormone may have an adverse
impact on fetal growth (Newbern Freemark 2011). The placenta consists of two distinct regions,
which are the junctional (JZ) and labyrinth (LZ) zones that differ in morphological and functional
terms (Ishikawa et al. 2006). This complexity therefore reflects the placenta as a highly specialised
unit required for the exchange of gases, nutrients and waste products between mother and fetus as
alluded to earlier. The interrelationship between the fetus and placenta has been made

The Pros And Cons Of The Belize Guatemala Territorial Dispute
Belize Guatemala Territorial Dispute Should we agree on taking the Belize Guatemala territorial

the central judicial branch of the United Nations, where the Court s role is to resolve legal disputes
and to give consultative opinions on legal questions (International court of Justice). The Belize
Guatemalaterritorial dispute is an unresolved bi national territorial dispute between both

whole or in part since 1940. Belize is an independent country that is rich in resources, and this is
why more than ever Guatemala is claiming Belize s territory; therefore history has been made
for many centuries regarding this issue and if it is agreed in going to the ICJ there would most
likely be some advantages and disadvantage, but still there are Belizeans that agree on going to
the ICJ while others opposed from going. This few Belizeans that agree on going to the ICJ have

Every Muslim is expected to go on the pilgrimage at least once in their lifetime. The Hajj usually takes place during the month of Dhu al Hijja which is the last month in the Islamic calendar. b) What is the history behind the pilgrimage? The hajj is said to have originated in the 2000BC. Ibrahim, his wife Hager and their son Ishmael were stranded on a desert and Ishmael was close to death from thirst when the angel jibril touched earth and created a fresh spring of water for Ishmael to drink from. This place was called the well of Zemzem. Following this, Ibrahim built a monument called kaaba in the place of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Outline what happens in at least two different Baptismal services. Refer to the symbolism involved. Infant baptism The infant is dressed in white clothing that represents the purity gained after the completion if the baptismal service. Water is poured on to the forehead of the child or the child is immersed in water by the priest in the presence of the parents, god parents and generally a sponsor. The specific way that the procedure has to take place can depend on the choosing of the family. Believers baptism The person being baptised publicly confirms their understanding of the baptism and the acceptance of God into their life by answering a series of questions. Then a member of the church immerses them in water. The procedure symbolises the spiritual rebirth or awakening which has taken place in their lives and their will to follow Christ in life. 4. How does this practice express the beliefs of Christianity? (refer to sacred texts, traditions and statements by leaders of various denominations) Baptism tells us of the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus and our very own death, burial and resurrection. • 3. The Catcher In The Rye Essay The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger is about a boy named Holden Caulfield and his struggle with life. Like any other teenager, he is simply looking for his place in the world. However, it is shown that Holden is no ordinary teenager for he displays many signs of depression. His depression seems to escalate throughout the novel. For example, many nights he has trouble sleeping, he also is quite the alcoholic and a heavy smoker, he doesnt feed his body with the proper nutrients and he talks of committing suicideat various points in the novel. Holden feels he has been alienated his whole life and that after losing his brother Allie, there was really no place for him anywhere. Holden Caulfield is a complex character that is in need of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The last time Id eaten was those two hamburgers I had with Brossard and Ackley when we went in to Agerstown to the movies. That was a long time ago. It seemed like fifty years ago.(105) Although Holden is aware that he hasnt eaten in quite some time, he just hasnt felt hungry. Holdens nutrition is just all over the place. His depression has forced him to do crazy things. For example, after a night of drinking Holden says, I puked before I went to bed, but I didnt really have to I forced myself.(90) This shows that Holden is hurting his body in defiantly more ways than one. Holden is also aware that he is somewhat depressed due to his lousy feelings and inability to eat much of anything. Holden is on a walk when he says, Id feel better if I had something to eat. So I went in this very cheap looking restaurant and had doughnuts and coffee. Only, I didnt eat the doughnuts. I couldnt swallow them too well. The thing is if you get very depressed about something, its hard as hell to swallow.(196) This just goes to show that Holden is very depressed and it effects the way he handles simple tasks such as eating. Even though he is aware of his depression, Holden does not speak of seeing a psychiatrist for serious issues such as his malnutrition even though he should really see one. An obvious sign of Holdens depression is the fact that he talks of committing suicide at various points of the novel. Every time Holden is feeling really lousy he would ... • 4. Essay On Chronic Pain San Diego_In Home Care and Chronic Pain When pain lasts three to six months or more, it is considered chronic pain. According to the American Geriatrics Association, more than 50 percent of seniors living at home and up to 80 percent of those in care facilities suffer from chronic pain. As a result, a great number of these seniors are not able to function properly during the day or sleep well at night. Some of the most frequent causes of chronic pain in seniors are arthritis, glaucoma, poor circulation, and nerve damage. For seniors who choose to remain in their own residence despite their pain, in home care often makes a significant difference by allowing them to maintain their freedom, independence, and high quality of life. Steganography has one main purpose, to conceal data. Huang s (2011) method, embedding steganographic data in inactive frames of low bit rate audio streams went against the norm (Aoki, 2008), (Wu et al., 2006), used active frames of high bit rate audio streams. Active high bit rate audio streams have higher least significant bit counts, which presents added frames to conceal steganographic payloads (Huang et al., 2011). Botnets have a unique ability to coordinate the sending and receiving of new commands to bots that grant the botmaster immense power to execute criminal activities, such as, phishing attacks, DDoS attacks, and ransomware attacks (Nagaraja, et al., 2011). Which have intensified to where presently botnets control hundreds of thousands of hosts and produce millions of dollars in revenue for their creators (Nagaraja, et al., 2011). Contrary to traditional botnets, Stegobot s communication traffic does not open new communication endpoints between the bots (Nagaraja, et al., 2011). Stegobot takes advantage of social media networks by operating along the edges, while utilizing image steganography techniques to hide covert communication during the interchanging of images among users (Nagaraja, et al., 2011). Network traffic visualization method designed by Mazurczyk (2012) focuses on network anomaly detection principles. Mazurczyk s main purpose of doing his research was to detect anomalies in network traffic flow, that can cause malicious actions that could compromise network security. • 7. The Indian Ocean Trade Between 650 C.E. and 1450 C.E., trade and interaction in the Indian Ocean was the largest in the world. Although the Indian Ocean trade network was small when it first began, the network was able to expand and led to the inclusion of Europe while the exchange of ideas, goods and religion remained constant. During this time period, the construction of large and powerful states provided security for merchants and travelers, which helped long distance commerce. The golden ages of numerous powerful states also led to the flourishing of ideas. At the beginning of the time period, Malay sailors learn how to use the winds from monsoons to sail to China and India. This allowed for the exchange of knowledge and allowed the various groups of people to make connections. The Malay sailors desired the cotton and sugar from India and also craved the silk from China, and spices such as cinnamon, pepper, cloves, nutmeg and mace from the East Indies. This trade network was small when it was first established. As time progresses, changes within the Indian Ocean region occur. New states were created such as Srivijaya and the Swahili City States. Trade routes expand to further distances. Connections are made to the Trans Saharan trade in Africa. The East African Swahili city states also become incorporated into this trade network. Greater inclusion of China, the Tang and Song dynasties, adds to the extensive trade network. Controlling empires also fluctuate throughout the time period. During ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Pelayo, Elisenda and their family seem to live near an ocean being that crabs have flooded their yard. Their child was sick which they presumed was due to the stench of the thousands of crabs present. Pelayo went to clean up the crab catastrophe only to discover a winged, not so angelic looking man lying face down in the dirt. He begins to believe that the man is an angel who was coming to take his child as if the child was going to pass away, but the angel never quite made it to them. The man did not move so they moved him themselves placing him in their chicken coop. Word traveled quickly about this strange creature being on their property and people began coming from everywhere to check him out for themselves. The local priest decided the man could not be an angel because he didn t have that angelic appearance, but rather that of a person who had been sleeping out on the streets. However, everyone still perceived the man as an angel when truthfully, he was just a dirty man with wings residing in a coop. People began coming to him from far and wide seeking out advice. There was such a large turn out that Elisenda began charging people to see him and obtained enough funding to allow both of them to stop working and buy property. However, the old man eventually gains the strength it takes for him to fly away. Connections This story connects to the real world through ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the second chapter, Burnett narrates, ...they wore shabby clothes and were always quarreling and snatching toys from each other. Mary hated their untidy bungalow... (9) The verb hated implies that Mary cannot even bear the shabby clothes or untidy bungalow . She is not able to be satisfied with life without maidservant, luxurious house or elegant clothes, either. And Deborah Cogan Thacker and Jean Webb s another argument adds complexity to the analysis: [Burnett] does this by constructing the character and childhood experiences of Mary as negative projections against an idealized model of the Romantic child. (91) Indulging in the material comfort and living in her own world, Mary is initially the counter example of the Romantic child who is expected to have a quality of innocence, to be imaginative and playful, and also to display an intuitive relationship with nature (Thacker and Webb, 91). To sum up, on the first page of the story, Mary is both the personification and the victim of materialism; this fact not only supports Burnett s rejection of shallow materialism, but also lays the foundation of Mary s substantial shift the a Romantic child in the ... • 16. Private Military Contractors In The Middle East Throughout the Middle East, the use of private military contractors has significantly heightened, due to the call of attacks in these countries. PMC s take up much cost for a country to fund, and the increasing rates are bringing drawbacks onto working citizens. However, there PMC s are also vital in order for a country to maintain its armed security forces. On the other hand, mercenaries are people who take part in armed conflicts. The PMC s hire these mercenaries to work under them in helping take part in hostilities, but receive benefits for their own gains. Recently, the United Nations MercenaryConvention (UNMC) has placed restrictions upon PMC s in the use of mercenaries, in order to create specifications between commercial and government uses of these protection services. Sweden has very little support and funds for the use of these PMC s, due to the lack of high military activity. Current Issues: In the Middle East, and other countries active in their military uses, are raising high questions of controversy against whether or not PMC s should be implemented at an international scale. After these countries in the middle east have been hit with attacks, there has been thought on how to promote entrusted security for the countries. However, the use of these PMC s can lead to security faults in diplomatic officials, and can cause unstable regions throughout a country as we have seen happen in Libya in 2012. • 22. Symbolism In Strange Fruit, By Abel Meeropol The poem Strange Fruit by Abel Meeropol, could be described as dark and graphic, as it embodies Southern violence in America. The poem describes the lynching of black slaves, which was generally presented to an audience of whites. Billie Holiday, a black female artist, would sing the poem to a predominantly upper class white club. But strangely, the poem was written by a white man, Abel Meeropol. Although the last confirmed lynching was in 1968, there are other forms of racially motivated killings and violence in the United Statestoday such as police brutality and the race riots formed by white supremacist in Charlottesville. White America is linked and always will be to the history of black killings. To understand what some of the lynching s could have looked like, Meeropol made the poem very vivid with many examples of imagery within it as well as the many dark metaphors he placed throughout the poem. To understand why Strange Fruit transpired in the first place, it is important to realize the terrible acts committed during the 1930s. The first slave ship sailed across the Atlantic Ocean in 1619 and from then on, slavery would be etched into the history of America. For 246 years, slaves worked in numerous fields of crops while being sold, traded, raped, and killed. People verbally greet strangers in places like elevators, shops, lockers rooms, etc. (Hendr). Dress is more formal in Spain and shorts are not usually worn in public (Priest). When dining, it is important to keep both hands visible on the table and use utensils to eat most things (Spain Language, Culture, Customs and Etiquette). 3. Business specific manners and customs Spaniards conduct their business very personally. Pros And Cons Of Ration Books And The Rationing System Ration books With the onset of WWII, the United States needed a system to savor their supplies, so the government put in place the rationing system. They used ration books to get supplies like meat and sugar from grocery stores, a ration book was kind of like a coupon book, you couldn t buy a rationed item without having a ration stampfor that item (National WWII museum). So it s like a mix of a coupon book, and a you have permission to buy this item stamp. • 42. A Life Or Death Situation By Robin Marantz Henig Essay A Life or Death Situation, by Robin Marantz Henig, New York Times, July, 2013, is a review of the debate surrounding the right to a dignified death. It examines the purely philosophical view of the issue; as well as the heart wrenching reality of being faced with that question in one s personal life. Does a person have a right to choose how he or she dies? How does that choice impact the people who care about about him or her? Should a person who cares about someone be required to cause or aide in his or her death? These questions weigh heavy on the minds of many people, who live with injured, impaired and physically incapable people everyday. I selected this article, because it is relevant in my life. Various methods and strategies have been used in the attempt to establish an independent state, but the prevailing conditions have always been against the Kurds, until the second Gulf War and the toppling of Saddam. This is attributed to the lack of many defining characteristics of a state, thus Weber s notion of a state can be used to describe the prevailing conditions within the Iraqi Kurdistan (Zunes 19). It has been a difficult struggle for Iraqi Kurdistan to achieve legitimacy as a state due to a lack of acceptance by the international community and constant disputes with Iraq and neighboring countries. A study conducted on Wistar rats at two time points in late gestation investigating the impact of gestational age and gender on fetal and placental weight. This study demonstrated that fetal and placental weight increased significantly between days 16 and 21 of gestation whereas gender showed minimal effect on growth. Introduction Fetal development during pregnancy is predominantly related to the placenta and its function in fetal maternal exchange (Ishikawa et al. 2006). Alterations in the interactions between the fetus and maternal uterine environment thus permit for the modification in fetal growth. In addition, the placenta also acts as an endocrine organ that produces hormones necessary for the establishment and maintenance of pregnancy as well as fetal growth and wellbeing (Malassine, Frendo Evain Brion 2003). Literature suggests fetal growth relies on the mobilisation of maternal nutrients, which involves placental growth hormone and that dysregulation of the hormone may have an adverse impact on fetal growth (Newbern Freemark 2011). The placenta consists of two distinct regions, which are the junctional (JZ) and labyrinth (LZ) zones that differ in morphological and functional terms (Ishikawa et al. 2006). This complexity therefore reflects the placenta as a highly specialised unit required for the exchange of gases, nutrients and waste products between mother and fetus as alluded to earlier.
