State Of Ww2 ( Background )
State of WW2 (Background)
By 1945, the war between the Allies and Germany was slowly reaching its end. To the west, Nazi
leader Adolf Hitler s desperate counteroffensive against the Allies in Belgium s Ardennes forest
had ended in a total failure . As well as in the east, it looked very hopeless for Germany
(History.com Staff.). Meanwhile, the Western Allies began considering the use of strategic bomb to
fight against Germany s stubborn defense. In January 1945, the Royal force began to consider
plans for the widespread bombing of cities in eastern Germany against Dresden and two other
cities(Hickman, Kennedy.). Also on February, the three leaders of the Allies, Franklin Roosevelt,
Joseph Stalin and Winston Churchill met at Yalta in the USSR and compromised on their visions of
the postwar World (History.com Staff. Bombing of Dresden. ). The background is very significant
because it shows the initial cause of the bombing of Dresden.
The Yalta Conference
The topic of area bombing certain parts of Germany to end the World War II was finalized in the
Yalta Conference. The conference involved the Deputy Chief of the Soviet General Staff, and
General Aleksei Antonov . They had a talk about the possibility of area bombing Germany and the
possible cities they would target if they were to bomb them. Some of the targets they discussed
were Berlin and Dresden. In the end, they ended the meeting with the final decision to bomb
Dresden even though much of Dresden s industry

The Role Of Violence In The Phantom Of The Opera
The Acts Of Love.
When asked what love is, what would you say? Well the simple answer to this is complete
silence. It is a feeling that only one in love can answer to themselves, without words. A prime
example of this would be the phantom in The Phantom of the Opera, throughout the book Erick
commits many acts of violence such as threatening the Prima Donna , cutting the wires so the
chandelier may fall upon the new care taker of box 5, writing threats to the managers, and fighting
Raol. One may question if his acts of violence are committed solely for Christine, the women he
loves and to protect his world of anonymity from falling apart. Is this really true? Can all of the
Phantom s actions just be his way of protecting everything he holds ... Show more content on

Furthermore, Dr. John L Flynn may believe the Phantom acts may have been to protect his
world and for his true love and to protect his world. However, many scholars may belive that he
committed such acts for his own personal gain due to the fact that he was obsessed with
Christine not in love with her because she was the first person to show him compassion, love,
and friendship. Shown through various chapters ,Christine matures into a young beautiful
sexual female, Erick begins to desire her and fantasize over her ;filling his underground lair with
sketches of her, different scenes of her signing in the opera house, and a wax figure of her in a
wedding dress. Therefore, these different scences throughout the book may support the claim
that Erick does not really love Christine but is obsessed with her out of the fear of being lonely
and isolated from the world one more. Can Erick having never having been love or been in love
can really reciprocate such feelings? However, such claims are rebutted by his acts in the final
chapters letting Christen go and giving her the gift of freedom. Making the saying if you love
someone , you let them go. In conclusion, Erick does love Christine and his acts are due to his love
for Christine and we learn that the phantom does have a human heart that

Domestic Vehicles In The US Economy
The question is simple. Why should Americans buy domestic vehicles compared to their foreign
counterparts? This question has plagued the U.S. consumer many years now, but why does it
even matter? Whether or not the person buys domestic or foreign, this decision has a major
effect on the U.S. economy. The person is basically picking which country they will provide the
work for building their vehicle. If they pick American, they are supporting a workforce of
dedicated craftsman just trying to make a living for their families (Miller). America once
dominated the entire field of automobiles, but has slipped away in the past years due to many
reasons. However, those years of bleak craftsmanship have been put in the past, and America is

supported if they choose to buy an American domestic vehicle (Miller). That s putting food on
the table for the 9 5 worker, giving a mother the money for dance lessons for her little girl, or
allowing the father to pay for jerseys for his son s little league team. This also reduces the
problem of unemployment as well, which has plagued this country since the recession. 34,000
workers are expected to be hired over the next few years, and more job opportunities could ensue
(Miller). All of this because that one person decided to buy from their country instead of a far away

Corn Kernels
The phenotypes for the ear of corn observed, consisted of 192 purple kernels and 66 yellow kernels.
When reduced, the actual phenotypic ratio for this monohybrid cross was 32:11 (32 purple and
11 yellow). It matches the predicted phenotypic ratio of 3:1 (3 purple versus 1 yellow). If 3 and 1
were multiplied by three, the predicted phenotypic ratio would be 33:11, resulting in our ear of
corn, being off by only 1 purplekernel.
The ear of corn labelled G, had 291 corn kernels total for the 6 rows. There were 168 purple
smooth corn kernels, 54 purple wrinkled kernels, 49 yellow smooth kernels, and 20 yellow
wrinkled kernels. The actual phenotypic ratio for this dihybrid cross is 168:54:49:20. No common
factor can go into all four numbers, so it cannot be reduced.
The chi square value for the data from the dihybrid cross was 0.993. The data supports the
prediction. We fail to reject the null hypothesis. There is around an 80% chance (p=0.80) that a fair
corn would yield the observed results. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Our hypothesis was that there would be no difference between the actual phenotypic ratio and
predicted phenotypic ratio of the ear of corn labelled G. As each row of corn was being counted
and recorded, a trend appeared, revealing that purple smooth corn kernels were by far the most
common, followed by purple wrinkled and yellow smooth corn kernels, with yellow wrinkled corn
kernels appearing the least. The corn kernels appeared in this pattern because the corn kernel with
two dominant traits (purple being the dominant color, along with smooth being the dominant
texture) would take precedence over the recessive yellow color and wrinkled

Essay On Taj Mahal
The Taj Mahal
Taj Mahal, a marvelous white marbled mahal, symbolizes the beauty of love, and misery, is one of
the seven wonders of the world. Taj Mahal was built during the Mughal Period when Mughals
(Muslims) from Persia, Afghanistan, and many parts of middle east conquered India. It was built by
fifth Mughal emperor Shah Jahan who ruled India during the early 17th century. He constructed the
divine Taj in the memory of his begum (wife) Mumtaz Mahal. Mumtaz Mahal was a Persian
Muslim Princess, who married Shah Jahan in 1612 (tajmahal.gov.in Staff). Soon after begum s
death, Taj Mahal s construction was started in 1631. Shah Jahan had two aims, firstly to construct

fourteenth offspring, Mumtaz died in 1631 due to some disease (history.com Staff). Two months
later, Shah Jahan ordered to build the Taj Mahal. As a result, Taj Mahal symbolizes the eternal
love of emperor and his queen. Taj Mahal was completed in 1648 but it was not open to public
until 1653. Taj Mahal is nothing but a gigantic marble tomb. This was a gift from Shah Jahan to
his wife. Soon after the completion of the monument, Mumtaz s dead body was placed in the
center of the tomb. But after few years in 1658, Shah Jahan was captured by his own son named
Aurangzeb. Aurangzeb was the last great Mughal emperor formed in the history of Mughal
dynasty. Aurangzeb was the third son of Shah Jahan and Mumtaz. Because of greed of becoming
the emperor of dynasty, Aurangzeb killed his elder brother and imprisoned his father, Shah Jahan
for eight years. Shah Jahan was imprisoned in Agra Fort, which was on the opposite side of the
river Yamuna, and from the balcony of the Agra Fort, Taj Mahal was visible. This helped Shah
Jahan to help survive for more years. But after eight years, Shah Jahan died of illness on January
22, 1666 in the city of Agra (Bhavesh Variya, 88). Later his son and the current emperor Aurangzeb
buried his dead body in Taj Mahal

Nonsense Is Defined by Its Inability to be Defined Lewis...
The definition of nonsense has been debated throughout literature. Yet nonsense itself cannot be
defined, but rather it is defined by its inability to be defined. It s the destruction or defiance of the
norm that often leads to creation of nonsense. The language of nonsense itself is closely
intertwined with various techniques of style, structuralization and various motifs. Authors such as
Lewis Caroll in Alice and Wonderland and Edward Lear s The Complete Nonsense of Edward
Lear use such techniques to invoke the language of nonsense as well as to create nonsense within
their writing. Both Lewis Carroll and Edward Lear use the language of nonsense is also defined
by paradoxes, the play on stereotypes, and the usage of polysemy. Lewis... Show more content on

In such a structure, Lear creates a paradox in that he uses various stereotypes of each individual
that he chooses and breaks and defies that stereotype. In the creation of such limericks, Lear is
specific in choosing adjectives; he uses places such as Portugal , Madras , etc. In such places
there is an assumption of a stereotype of the individuals from those places, yet instead of
creating that stereotype he creates nonsensical actions for those individuals. Both Carroll and
Lear use polysemy throughout their nonsense. Polysemy can be defined as words or phrases
having multiple meanings. Carroll uses polysemy in the fact that the creatures often take
specific words for face value. For instance, the word mad has multiple meanings, it can either
mean angry or crazed. Carroll is very careful to create the mad hatter and the as mad as a March
hare as the same individual (Carroll). Yet it is in this matter that also fuels the nonsensical
element has the mad hatter becomes a paradox. Lear uses polysemy as well throughout his
limericks. For instance, There was an Old Person of Leeds/Whose head was infested with beads...
(Lear, 12). The word beads could refer to the things that jewelry is made of or a reference to ones
sanity (i.e. often called marbles in today s society). Such a play on words allow for the

Hawaii Compare And Contrast
Hawaii s area is 28 311 km2. it`s about 1 360 301 people who live there. Hawaii is the newest of
the 50 American states and is the only state consisting of islands only. It occupies most of the eye
catching Hawaiian Islands in the Central Pacific, southwest of the Continental United States,
southeast of Japan and northeast of Australia.
Hawaii has a typical tropical climate, except that the temperature and humidity tend to be slightly
less extreme compared with other tropical areas thanks to constant winds from the east. The
temperatures are hot all year and there are small differences between months. In summer,
temperatures often reach around 31 В° C during the day and 24 В° C at night. In winter the

Map of Hawaii
Hawaii is the southernmost state of the United States, and the westernmost after Alaska. It is also,
along with Alaska, the only one that is outside of the United States and lacks a border with any
other American state. Hawaii is the only American state that is distinct from the mainland, is
completely surrounded by water, continues to grow surface due to lava flows mainly from Kilauea
and is entirely in the tropics.
Apart from Easter Island, Hawaii is further away from land than any other landmass on Earth.
Hawaii s highest mountain, Mauna Kea is 4205 m above sea level. but is higher than Mount
Everest if measured from the bottom of the Pacific.
Geology
All of Hawaii s islands have been created by volcanoes that reside from the seabed, according to
the theory of hot spots. The theory argues that the Pacific tectonic plate moves towards the
northwest while the hot spot stays still, which slowly creates new volcanoes. The latest volcanic
eruption outside the main island of Hawaii occurred at Haleakala in Maui in the late 18th

Rhetorical Analysis Of Ronald Reagan s Speech On The...
On January 28th, 1986, Ronald Reagan used his stature as president to show sympathy for the
country in the light of tragedy, in his speech entitled Speech on the Challenger Disaster. His main
point expounds on the importance of the Challenger Disaster in the history of space exploration. He
supports this claim by first explaining the effect the disaster had on the public, then offering his
sympathy for the families of the astronauts as well as the entire nation, and finally declaring that the
country must continue to explore space so the deaths of the astronauts were not in vain. Through
Reagan s use of rhetorical appeals, tone, and rhetorical tools he effectively persuades the American
people to maintain confidence in NASAand in space exploration,... Show more content on

Reagan carefully chose his words during his speech on the Challenger Disaster, using specific
pronouns completely changed the way the country received the message. It was initiated when
he said, we ve never lost an astronaut in flight; we ve never had a tragedy like this (5). Later he
also stated: We ve grown used to the idea of space, and perhaps we forget that we ve only just
begun (7). Reagan s use of we throughout the speech shows the nation that even high figures
such as celebrities and political figure, in which Reagan represented both, also feel as the
common people do in times of struggle and devastation. Allowing the citizens of America a
shoulder to cry on for a dark and challenging time in the history of the country. Towards the end
of the text Reagan started to create allusions for the American people to compare the fallen
astronauts to. Such as when Reagan stated: the great explorer Sir Francis Drake died aboard ship
off the coast of Panama. In his lifetime the great frontiers were the oceans, and a historian later
said, He lived by the sea, died on it, and was buried in it (10). Also he makes reference to the
religious figures at the end when he says, slipped the surly bongs of earth to touch the face of
God (11). Using these allusions, Reagan was able to effectively convince the audience that the
astronauts died for a reason and a cause, to expand our knowledge of space and explore what it
could possibly contain. In the case that Reagan had not given this speech it could be possible
that many people around the world would want to back off from exploring space because it could
kill people that attempt to travel into it. But Reagan s speech was able to revoke confidence in
NASA and other space programs, letting moms let their kids become astronauts and not saying no
because of how dangerous it could be.

Isolation In Art Analysis
Like all art, there are endless ways for this piece to be interpreted evoking countless emotions
depending on the experiences of the person. The goal of an artist, is to inspire thought and
conversation, which this piece does beautifully. The best thing about snow, is how it can
completely change the atmosphere of a scene. When I look at the piece, I can feel the cold and
hear the deafening silence that comes with a winter storm. I love that snow can lead to some many
sensations, from feeling cozy and safe by the fire, to a cold dreadful feeling of complete isolation.

Cyber Criminals, Thieves, And Terrorism
Every day, hospitals in the United States and around the world are working long hours in
responding to emergencies, attending patients, delivering newborn babies, performing surgeries,
and foremost saving lives. Not too long ago, cyberspace has given institutions such as hospitals the
tools to accumulate and file as much information and data as possible in this great space of
technology, networks, and systems. Information such as patient s information, treatments,
machinery, as well as having a better way to have a secure place to store them and have
authorization in accessing them. However, such tools had been used as weapons by those who
want to have access and possession of such critical information and control by cyber criminals,
thieves, and terrorists. Unfortunately, it s not simple to live in a world in which laws can just
simply protect institutions that help save lives. Rather, hospitals have fallen as victims of
cyberattacks.
On the evening of February 5th, at Los Angeles, California, doctors and staff from Hollywood
Presbyterian Medical Center, noticed several technical issues while trying to access the hospital s
computer network. The hospital s IT department was notified, and they began their investigation to
determine the cause of these issues. However, these issues carried on for approximately a week,
which was a frustration for doctors and staff members because they were unable to digitally access

The Effect Of Temperature Increases Due On Anthropogenic...
Abstract The purpose of this article by Diffenbaugh et.al. is to determine how temperature increases
due to anthropogenic warming change the probability of precipitation deficits that cause severe
drought conditions, and determine what the conditions will look like in the future. They used
historical precipitationand temperature data with Palmer Drought Metrics and global climate
models to attempt to answer this question. It was found that in the past twenty years, the
frequency of drought years has doubled, without any significant change in the trends of
precipitation variability. This was attributed to significant increases in positive temperature
anomalies causing an increased frequency of precipitation deficits leading to more occurrences of
drought years. Global climate modeling suggested that by 2030, the region will transition to a
regime where there is a 100% risk that all future dry years will coincide with warmer conditions,
increasing the risk of extended drought conditions. This is not the first time this region has
experienced prolonged drought conditions. However, it is the first time the drought has been this
severe. Since 1977, the per capita water usage has decreased such that in 2013 the water demand is
similar to that of 1977, meaning that it will be very difficult to come up with new short term water
conservation ideas.

The Wreck Of The Titanic
About a hundred years has passed since the British passenger liner met its fatal end in the North
Atlantic on April 15, 1912. The RMS Titanic plummeted two miles to the ocean floor after
clashing into an iceberg during its journey to the Port of New York. Over 1,500 people drowned in
this unfortunate event. Ever since the sinking, numerous books and remarkable films have been
made, telling the story of the ship and its passengers. The wreck of the ship was found in 1985 by
the coast of Newfoundland, in the North Atlantic Ocean. Over the years, Titanic s story has made

In 1909, the second of these ships, Titanic, was put into progress and continued to be made nonstop
until the 1911; a long two years. At that time, Titanic was the biggest movable man made object in
the entire world. Over 100,000 people attended the launching of the new luxury boat. The ship s
framework was immediately hauled to a colossal dock where thousands of workers spent most of
the following year building the ship s decks, interiors and boilers that would power the two main
steam engines. Although the Titanic was highly boasted about for being virtually unsinkable, it
actually had many flaws. According to some theories, Titanic was fated to sink from the start. The
ship had watertight bulkheads and electric watertight doors which could be controlled by a switch.
It was the watertight bulkheads that encouraged Shipbuilder magazine to consider the Titanic
practically unsinkable. Unfortunately, the watertight compartment design possessed a major flaw
that might have been a an important factor in Titanic s sinking: although, the individual bulkheads
were in fact watertight, water could spill from one compartment into another. Many of the Titanic s
rivals already had safety features formulated into them in order to prevent this very situation. If
White Star had taken as much caution as its competitor company, it might have rewritten history
and prevented the tragedy of Titanic s sinking. The second crucial

Research Paper On The Mandela Effect
The Mandela Effect is a collective misremembering of a fact or event. This phenomenon originated
in 2010 when Fiona Broome, an author, researcher, and paranormal consultant, explained online
that she thought Nelson Mandela had died while he was in prison. To her surprise many other
people had the same exact memory as her. Some people even remember learning about his death in
school. Other famous examples of the Mandela Effect are the misremembering of famous lines
from movies, the spelling of Bernstein bears and Looney Tunes, and whether Curious George has a

Leo Tolstoy Philosophy Of Education
Abstract:
In this essay, I will be analyzing the practicality of educational philosophy of famous Russian
philosopher and novelist Leo Tolstoy life (1828 1910). After giving considerable background of
Leo Tolstoy s life, his views about education and religion, it is argued that educationalists and
parents nowadays can draw out key pedagogical matter from his work.
Early Life:
Born at Yasnaya Polyana at his family estate on August 28, 1828, in Russia s Tula province. He
was youngest of the four sons. After the death of his father in 1837, his aunt Alexandra Osten
Saken became the legal guardian of the children. She was a religious woman and had a
considerable influence on young Tolstoy. After the death of their aunt, the children were sent to
Kazan, Russia to another aunt. Tolstoy was educated by the German and French tutors at home.

[7] He had a firm belief that education must not be delivered in a way which intimidates the
students. He averted the philosophy of learning for rewards of European institutes. He was of the
view that education should not be the name of molding of students in to some kind similar forms
but it should be the name of continuous advancement in knowledge. [8] Even though not very
religious, he still considered The Bible as a good instrument for educational value. He thought that
the Bible can open up a world of knowledge and make the students love knowledge without
knowledge. [9] In 1908, he published his book in which he re wrote the four gospels. His main
focus was on the children of the peasants so he wrote the book in bearing in his mind that. He
believed that the teachers should consider the psychology of their students both while devising the
curriculum and while teaching.

Issues By Julia Michaels
The first song I am introducing on my soundtrack is Issues by Julia Michaels. Throughout Hannah
s life she had many issues she needed to overcome. During all the events Hannah was going
through, she needed to have a real friend that she could vent to, but she did not have anyone to go
to. Hannah only had one real friend named Kat, but she moved away the summer before the
freshman year of high school. Hannah genuinely thought her best friend for life would be Jessica,
but that quickly changed within a few weeks of school. When Jessica slapped/scratched Hannah, it
was pretty clear that their friendshipwas over, but if they had resolved that issue and continue
being friends, could Hannah still be alive? Hannah needed a friend to talk about Tyler, Justin,
Bryce and many more, but she never got that. Two lines that stands out in the lyrics of the song

thought about living her life and these lyrics show how she thought about advancing on. Chasing
the pavements of the streets are a perfect example of life going on and on, but depending on which

Three Totems
Wolfflin designed four pairs of qualities, which help us to see the many design elements when
looking at paintings. For this paper I have chosen three paintings, Three totems Thorton Willis
2015, The Ambassadors Hans Holbein 1533, and Cross on the Mountain Caspar David Friedrich
1821. When I saw these three paintings, I noticed that they each were designed very different.
Knowing that each one was different made me notice the unique qualities within the three paintings.
Three Totems, Thorton Willis 2015, is a painting of three yellowrectangles which symbolize the
poles, with a purple background. In this painting I see linearly technique, Thorton made sure that
each line stood out from the background, showing the formation of each pole. This allowed for us
to see how the poles were exactly placed and the shape they make. Thorton uses multiplicity in this
painting by creating no shadows and showing that the light of the colors are very distinct

Hans seems to be using linearly forms within this painting. The lines and detail are very bold,
which allows for there to be no blending, and each figure stands out. He uses multiplicity in his

individually stand out from the background, just as well as the objects on the table and ground
stand out with their own distinction of color. He uses closed forms by lining up the men

The Stanford Prison Experiment And The Milgram Experiment
Introduction
Ethical guidelines are the frameworks and standards that govern psychologists in conducting a
morally justified research to respect the rights of the participants. Since the researchers are
responsible for the welfare of the participants, it is vital for them to act in accordance with a
specific strict code of ethics and moral principles. One of the common ethical framework used in
many psychological studies is IVCARD where I stands for Informed Consent, V equals Voluntary
Participation, C is Confidentiality, A being Accurate Reporting, R is Right To Withdraw and D as
Do No Harm. Although there are few disadvantages of these strict ethical guidelines, the advantages
outweigh them. This is evident from two of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, when they conducted their experiments they did not breach any ethical guidelines since
they did not exist (Matta, 2014). Hence, to protect the welfare, rights, dignity, and mental health of
the participants, strict ethical guidelines were introduced in psychological experiments which have
positively influenced the field of psychology. Also, due to ethical frameworks, people are viewed
as participants of a study instead of subjects in an experiment. They also make psychological
experiments more reputable, leading to an increase in the willingness of participation by people as
their safety is ensured. The increased willingness of participation is beneficial in order to discover
more about human behaviour, the effectiveness of treatment, mechanisms of a psychiatric disorder
etc.
Disadvantages of Ethical Guidelines
Although ethical guidelines were designed to help psychologists to conduct morally justified
studies and avoid ethical dilemmas, these enforceable guidelines restrict the scope of research.
Despite the fact that Zimbardo s and Milgram s experiments were highly unethical, they provided
valuable data about situational attribution. Similar experiments conducted in past, which are

their beautiful flowering plants as noxious weeds. Some noxious weeds put on a mask of beauty
but inside are seeking simply for destruction and overrule of other plant species. Although, at first it
seems unlikely to affect anyone other than that of ranchers and farmers, in truth noxious weeds
harm multiple individuals in their own homes but particularly on public and private land.
In agriculture, noxious weeds pose a threat to a successful yield in crops and a healthy livestock
crop each year. While some weeds are not as extreme as others, all pose a threat of some sort. Take

Noxious weeds affect many things: Farmers, ranchers, consumers, tourists, animals, and
environments. More specifically, noxious weeds affect anything. The weeds can damage a crop
to the point that the farmer is unable to sell any of it. Livestock can be harmed negatively either
through nutritional defects or physical attacks by these weeds. Consumers of products may
increase in demand, but noxious weeds can lower the supply causing economic imbalance. Fans
of state parks and public land are losing the beautiful lands that once existed due to the tyranny
of noxious weeds. By understanding the affect noxious weeds have on one s life, better
management processes will be developed and put to work. Each individual can do their part by
becoming educated in noxious weeds, even if it is a basic knowledge. In final, noxious weeds do

The Trouble With Rewards Essay
The Trouble with Rewards
Organizational Development Culture
Alfie Kohn is a lecturer and author whose primary focus is behavior management in schools, in the
workplace, and in our parenting techniques. In 1993, Kohn published Punished by Rewards . In this
work, Kohn listed five main arguments against the use of performance based reward systems. The
arguments against such reward systems are:
Rewards Punish
Rewards Rupture Relationships
Rewards Ignore Reasons
Rewards Discourage Risk Taking
Rewards Undermine Intrinsic Motivation
On its face, it seems contradictory that a reward would be an unhealthy means to assist the process
of learning or behaving. How else would the unpleasantries of learning, of working, or ... Show

However, as the order was not mine, I instructed my co worker who was working on this account
to call the customer to make sure that all was well. As a result, the customer wrote a letter to the

receiving a corporate service award and a monetary reward. Needless to say, I was not pleased. I
had done the work, but yet was not recognized. This made me feel that it is not necessary to put
forth such effort since it was a thankless function. I felt punished for doing a good job because it
was not noted in the least.
Rewards Rupture Relationships
The idea of there can be only one is the bedrock of American values. There has to be an ultimate
winner and then there s everyone else. Logically following this thought process would lead us to the
understanding that rewarding the one causes a breakdown in relationships. The following are the
reasons that I would agree that rewards rupture relationships:
They emphasize the difference in power between the person handing out the reward and the person
receiving it.
Excellence depends on teamwork.
Employees will not ask for help when needed.
Problems will be concealed so that reputations remain intact.
Rewards create competitiveness among employees and this undermines collaboration and teamwork.
An example where rewards rupture relationships can be viewed by

posing health hazards to the people living in close proximity to the lake. Over the years the entire

The Things They Carried A Soldiers Sweetheart Essay
Difference Between Sweetheart of the Song Tra Bong amp; A Soldier s Sweetheart
Once a successful novel hits the market, producers are inclined to adapt the story into a movie.
Since imagination, symbolism, and character psyches are explored in a novel, the movies tend to
lack the luster of the original text. Using their imagination, readers are able to conjure up
characters and scenes that are unique. This is the case with Tim O Brien s, Sweetheart of the Song
Tra Bong. This is a story where love and war collide after a soldier brings his sweetheart to his
Vietnamese post. On the whole, this chapter in The Things They Carried is far superior to the film,
The Soldier s Sweetheart, because it has thorough descriptions of characters ... Show more content

She wanted to learn more about how to shoot a gun. She wanted to be like one of the guys. The
novel installs all these ideas, but it also allows the reader to use their creativity. It also gives more
emphasis on little traits of the character that make the character more unique. Therefore, due to the
film s inability to give audiences more information about the characters, their role and their
emotions, the novel is much more informative.
The novel is capable of giving readers more insight into the story with the use of symbols and
hidden meanings. It is able to do this because it depicts important underlying messages and
incidents. For instance, in the novel one may realize that Mary Anne starts to wear a necklace
with tongues on it. This shows the readers that Mary Anne is no longer than clean innocent girl.
She is now a brutal solder always ready to kill. Elongated and narrow, like pieces of blackened
leather, the tongues were threaded along a length of copper wire, one overlapping the next, the
tips curled upward as if caught in a final shrill syllable (O Brien 111). Portrayed in both the novel
and movie is Mary Anne s change in personal hygiene. No cosmetics, no fingernail filing. She

Essay on A Non-religious Contract In America
A Non Religious Contract in America
The religious standards of Americans today have plummeted to a new low.
Fewer people are going to church than earlier in the century. Many people are marrying without
even going to a priest by getting a judge to marry them.
Divorce is steadily on the rise. Today s society accepts homosexuals! Now the issue arises over
whether we should allow homosexuals to marry. And you know what? It is really noneof the
government s business.
America can no longer deny its homosexual citizens the right to have a legal marriage. Looking at
today s society, we can see that there is no good reason to deny gay couples the rights that straight
couples have in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is no reason why the same cannot happen for homosexual couples. I am sure that many
homosexual couples in the U.S. are better parents than some heterosexual couples. The fact that
there are people that cannot physically have children together does not mean that they have no
parental instincts or would be incapable as parents.
Thus, this argument against homosexual marriages cannot hold in America.
The government of America recognizes marriage as a secular entity, and with homosexual unions
we must make sure that we look at marriage in this way.
Marriage in the eyes of the government consists of a legal license that states that it can look at
two people as one unit. A court of law can perform a marriage, thereby eliminating all religious
aspects of it. So, the government looks at a marriage simply as something that is put in the records.
This decade is the time of the paper marriage. More people sign pre nuptial agreements, make sure
their spouse has a space on their insurance policies, and have their own line on tax forms. While
this seems impersonal
(can you imagine someone proposing with quot; Will you be the answer to line #3a on my 1040 and
W 2? quot;), the government must look at the entity marriage this way.
Numbers and legal agreements are gender neutral, so government checks to make

All of the dimensions of comfort must be met by the patient, the family and healthcare provider to

Stephen King Why We Crave Horror Movies Summary
Horror Movies: An Outlet for Insanity We are all insane. Thus, man is evil. Stephen King
declares this belief in his essay Why We Crave Horror Movies , adding his opinion to the
extensive debate on the nature of humankind. Those who believe man is evil are also unable to
deny their own corruption. Therefore, in order to move on from this distress, they come to accept
this apparently inevitable characteristic of humanity. As long as they confine their hidden desires
with seemingly ordinary activities, such as watching horror movies, the frontier that distinguishes
what society deems as acceptable will remain uncrossed. In fact, King himself has gained
tremendous success by taking advantage of the enjoyment he receives from horror stories and
creating a career out of it; he became successful by indulging in his corrupt fantasies. However, I

Class Structure in The Great Gatsby Essay
Class structure in the 1920s was synonymous to prejudice. The 1920s was known as a period of
wild excess and great parties with excitement arising from the ashes of the wars in America s
history. It was a period in history where rapid materialism and narcissistic ideals grew
uncontrollably, and it was the days where Jay Gatsby, illegally, rose to success. Having social
classes was the same as segregation, except it was through economic standings, the two both instil
injustice within social standards. Class structure was used to describe the difference between the

Installment plans were easy to get and people got into debt without thinking or planning for their
future. In the 1920s, if people wanted something then they were able to purchase it, easily.
Buying something had a major economic impact, the merchandise that were bought had to be
made by somebody. This was the era before robot technology emerges and most work was labour
intensive people did the work. The person who made the product would get paid and instead of
saving it, he will spend it somewhere else; he, too, will spend some of it and someone somewhere
else will have to make more products, so he will then get paid therefore, the cycle continued. The
rich will get richer due to the mass consumption of their products and the poor will get poorer due
to them purchasing the products without having enough money for it.
Myrtle Wilson in The Great Gatsby is an example of the poor. Myrtle is Tom s lover who is

Essay On The Causes Of The Southern Rebellion
The Civil War, often referred to as The War of the Southern Rebellion, was one of the bloodiest
battles in the history of the United States, causing over 600,000 deaths. Although there were
several causes which led up to this brutal war, one of the major causes was due to conflict between
the northern and southern states over the expansion of slavery and sectionalism. Both of these
geographical locations had drifted apart in their ideal views and ways of life. The south felt slavery
was justifiable, and their agrarian economy depended upon slave labor. Meanwhile, the north
forbade slavery and relied more upon machine age economy. Nonetheless, massive American

Their method gave them a huge economic advantage in agriculture, as they could not keep their

often times resulting in official and political power as well. The south was so dependent on the

The Human Pancreas Is An Organ Of Both Endocrine And Exocrine
The human pancreas is an organ of both endocrine and exocrine function in regulating blood sugars
and aiding in digestion respectively. About 95 percent of the human pancreas is made of exocrine
tissue and the remaining of endocrine. In exocrine glands, secretions flow through ducts into a body
cavity, such as the nasal passage or urinary tract, rather than directly into the circulation of the
bloodstream, which is a characteristic of the endocrine pancreas.
The exocrine pancreas is split into two major substituents, the acini and the duct system, each
comprised of intralobular and interlobular components.
The acinar cells secrete digestive enzymes, which are also synthesized here. The name of these
enzyme secreting units comes from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These epithelial cells protrude short microvilli from their surface, which contain an abundance of
secretory granules, secreting fluids, which make up the majority of pancreatic juices. Epithelial
cells found in the main pancreatic duct are analogous in structure to those of the interlobular ducts.
Both sections of the duct system have thick, collagenous walls. Leakage prevention of the duct
system is carried out by the Zonula Occludens intercellular tight junctions between the duct and
acinar cells. The pancreatic duct, also known as the duct of Wirsung, connects the pancreas to the
bile duct. Hence, allowing the pancreatic juices to be transported to the gall bladder to fuse with
bile, aiding in digestion and neutralization of gastric acids.
In the case of the exocrine glands, secretions consist of aqueous mixtures. Enzyme secretion in the
pancreas is stimulated by the vagus and a hormone called pancreozymin, which is formed when it
is exposed to proteoses or peptones. The pancreas releases 1000 to 1500 ml of pancreatic juice into
the pancreatic duct each day. Secretions of the pancreas consists of two principal constituents, an
alkaline fluid and enzymes such as lipase, protease and О± amylase that are necessary for digestion
of fats, proteins and carbohydrates in vertebrates respectively. Other enzymes present include
trypsin, chymotrypsin and colipase.

largely from the premise that work values are derived from people s basic value system that help
them navigate through the multiple spheres of their lives.
Rokeach (1973) in an early pioneering thesis states that a value is an enduring belief that a specific
mode of conduct or end. State of existence is personally or socially preferable to an opposite or
converse mode of conduct or and a state of existence. He defines beliefs about preferable modes
of conduct instrument values and beliefs about preferable and states terminal values. In a value
system, individual rank order their instrumental and terminal values along a continuum of
importance. Some researchers stress that work goals can be regarded synonymous to work values
since the concept of goals is a core element of values. Zedeek (1997) for example has ... Show more

Work centrality is also defined as the beliefs that individuals have regarding the degree of
importance work plays in their lives. It has connotation that work centrality rests on the assumption
that individuals place work importance in their life sphere and attribute differing levels of

Lynch Syndrome Analysis
The National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) and the National Coalition for Health
Professional Education in Genetics (NCHPEG) have expressed the need for the education of
physicians about the ethical, legal and social implications (ELSI) related to Lynch Syndrome
assessment, genetic testing and counseling (Metcalf, Tanner, Buchanan, 2010). To address this
need, a local medical organization has called upon a health consultant and educator to conduct an
educational assessment and training on Lynch Syndrome for primary care physicians and other
healthcare professionals in their organization. Role of Lynch Syndrome: Evidence based
Lynch syndrome (LS) is a genetic disorder which increases the risk for other types of cancers and

Hereditary breast and ovarian cancer syndrome (HBOC) and LS (also known as hereditary non
polyposis colorectal cancer (HNPCC) combined likely affect 1 in 250 individuals in the general
population, therefore, suggests that primary care providers (PCP) actively cares for a number of
these individuals and their family members (Metcalf, Tanner, Buchanan, 2010). Failure to identify
and manage individuals with HBOC and LS can result in more harm and increase poor cancer
prognosis (Metcalf, Tanner, Buchanan, 2010; Rosato et al., 2013). There are a number of
guidelines from prominent organizations including the United States Preventive Services Task
Force (USPSTF) and Evaluation of Genomic Applications in Practice and Prevention suggesting
that identification of HBOC and LS patients can improve outcomes through enhanced screening
and preventive measures (Metcalf, Tanner, Buchanan, 2010). Although not recognized as a
universal agreement, the best approaches to high risk individuals with HBOC and Lynch
syndrome is a primary care setting, until there is universal agreement with improved
identification of LS risk measures (Metcalf, Tanner, Buchanan, 2010). Researchers are exploring
recommendations to offer genetic testing for LS to all individuals with diagnosed CRC, with the
intent of reducing morbidity and mortality in family members (Bellcross et al., 2011). Currently
there are no significant efforts on a national level to facilitate widespread genetic screening to
prevent LS adult onset conditions in family members of affected individuals using a public health
model (Bellcross et al., 2011). The same concepts and processes used in newborn universal
screening are being considered as a model for implementing universal LS screening on a
population level (Bellcross et al., 2011). In recognizing universal LS

Reggae Music Research Paper
The History of a Legacy
What is reggae music? Reggae music is a type of music that consists of different genres of music
such as blues and calypso. Reggae music also consists of different rhythms such as different
accents on different beats of the music. Say for instance you are playing in a four/four time
measure. The natural beat for a drummer playing in this type of particular time measure would be
for him to hit his high hat on all 4 beats, his bass foot pedal on one and three, and his snare on two
and four. When playing reggae this particular pattern differs for the drummer. When playing reggae
the drummer has more room to play around with the beat. In this particular setting the drummer
would continue to hit the hi hat on all four beats of the four measure. He would then start the
measure of music by hitting his bass foot ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Reggae music consists of a drum set, bongos, bass guitar, electric guitar, and so much more. A
basic drum set for reggae music consists of a snare drum, a hi hat, a floor tom, a middle tom,
and a high tom, a kick bass, a ride cymbal and a crash symbol. All of these pieces if equipment
are used to keep the rhythm throughout the performance of music. Bongos are a lot like the
toms of a drum set, but differ as far as the material that is used to create the distinct sound of
these two instruments. Toms of a drum set consist of man made material, whereas bongos
consist of drumheads that are made from an animals skin. Bongos also are an advocate to the
rhythmic part of reggae music. The bass guitar is the heartbeat of reggae music. The bass guitar
is a four string or more instrument that is played by hand by plcking it or consciously striking it.
An electric guitar is the exact same thing as a bass guitar, with the exception of the pitch. A bass
guitar has a deep bellowing kind of a pitch, whereas an electric guitar has more of a high pitch to

Charlie Fish Use Of Foreshadowing In Death By Scrabble
Charlie Fish s story Death by Scrabble is a suspenseful story about how much a husband wanted to
kill his wife. Fish uses foreshadowing, red herring, and sensory imagery in his story. The use of
these Art of Suspense techniques can inspire readers to continue to the end, wondering what will
happen next.
Foreshadowing is a common technique used in stories, whether it is fiction or nonfiction. In the
story, Death by Scrabble, the author makes it that for every word played in the game, the word,
in a way, comes true. When the husband plays ZAP, his wife gets an electric shock. As well as
when he plays EXPLODES, the air conditioning unit explode[d] (Fish 2). The author hints that the
wife is aware of what her husband is planning when she plays CAUTION as one of her words.
When Fish writes about how much the husband wants to kill his wife, he writes: Maybe I should
kill her, if only I had a D, then I could play MURDER (Fish 1). This leads us, the readers, to
believe that the husband wants to kill his wife and is, in some way, excited to do so. ... Show more

Sensory imagery is used in almost all short stories to help readers imagine and picture what is
going on. While I was reading the story, I could imagine the setting and what was going on. In the

  • 2. State Of Ww2 ( Background ) State of WW2 (Background) By 1945, the war between the Allies and Germany was slowly reaching its end. To the west, Nazi leader Adolf Hitler s desperate counteroffensive against the Allies in Belgium s Ardennes forest had ended in a total failure . As well as in the east, it looked very hopeless for Germany (History.com Staff.). Meanwhile, the Western Allies began considering the use of strategic bomb to fight against Germany s stubborn defense. In January 1945, the Royal force began to consider plans for the widespread bombing of cities in eastern Germany against Dresden and two other cities(Hickman, Kennedy.). Also on February, the three leaders of the Allies, Franklin Roosevelt, Joseph Stalin and Winston Churchill met at Yalta in the USSR and compromised on their visions of the postwar World (History.com Staff. Bombing of Dresden. ). The background is very significant because it shows the initial cause of the bombing of Dresden. The Yalta Conference The topic of area bombing certain parts of Germany to end the World War II was finalized in the Yalta Conference. The conference involved the Deputy Chief of the Soviet General Staff, and General Aleksei Antonov . They had a talk about the possibility of area bombing Germany and the possible cities they would target if they were to bomb them. Some of the targets they discussed were Berlin and Dresden. In the end, they ended the meeting with the final decision to bomb Dresden even though much of Dresden s industry ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Role Of Violence In The Phantom Of The Opera The Acts Of Love. When asked what love is, what would you say? Well the simple answer to this is complete silence. It is a feeling that only one in love can answer to themselves, without words. A prime example of this would be the phantom in The Phantom of the Opera, throughout the book Erick commits many acts of violence such as threatening the Prima Donna , cutting the wires so the chandelier may fall upon the new care taker of box 5, writing threats to the managers, and fighting Raol. One may question if his acts of violence are committed solely for Christine, the women he loves and to protect his world of anonymity from falling apart. Is this really true? Can all of the Phantom s actions just be his way of protecting everything he holds ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Furthermore, Dr. John L Flynn may believe the Phantom acts may have been to protect his world and for his true love and to protect his world. However, many scholars may belive that he committed such acts for his own personal gain due to the fact that he was obsessed with Christine not in love with her because she was the first person to show him compassion, love, and friendship. Shown through various chapters ,Christine matures into a young beautiful sexual female, Erick begins to desire her and fantasize over her ;filling his underground lair with sketches of her, different scenes of her signing in the opera house, and a wax figure of her in a wedding dress. Therefore, these different scences throughout the book may support the claim that Erick does not really love Christine but is obsessed with her out of the fear of being lonely and isolated from the world one more. Can Erick having never having been love or been in love can really reciprocate such feelings? However, such claims are rebutted by his acts in the final chapters letting Christen go and giving her the gift of freedom. Making the saying if you love someone , you let them go. In conclusion, Erick does love Christine and his acts are due to his love for Christine and we learn that the phantom does have a human heart that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This question has plagued the U.S. consumer many years now, but why does it even matter? Whether or not the person buys domestic or foreign, this decision has a major effect on the U.S. economy. The person is basically picking which country they will provide the work for building their vehicle. If they pick American, they are supporting a workforce of dedicated craftsman just trying to make a living for their families (Miller). When reduced, the actual phenotypic ratio for this monohybrid cross was 32:11 (32 purple and 11 yellow). It matches the predicted phenotypic ratio of 3:1 (3 purple versus 1 yellow). If 3 and 1 were multiplied by three, the predicted phenotypic ratio would be 33:11, resulting in our ear of corn, being off by only 1 purplekernel. The ear of corn labelled G, had 291 corn kernels total for the 6 rows. There were 168 purple smooth corn kernels, 54 purple wrinkled kernels, 49 yellow smooth kernels, and 20 yellow wrinkled kernels. The actual phenotypic ratio for this dihybrid cross is 168:54:49:20. No common factor can go into all four numbers, so it cannot be reduced. The chi square value for the data from the dihybrid cross was 0.993. The data supports the prediction. We fail to reject the null hypothesis. • 8. Nonsense Is Defined by Its Inability to be Defined Lewis... The definition of nonsense has been debated throughout literature. Yet nonsense itself cannot be defined, but rather it is defined by its inability to be defined. It s the destruction or defiance of the norm that often leads to creation of nonsense. The language of nonsense itself is closely intertwined with various techniques of style, structuralization and various motifs. Authors such as Lewis Caroll in Alice and Wonderland and Edward Lear s The Complete Nonsense of Edward Lear use such techniques to invoke the language of nonsense as well as to create nonsense within their writing. Both Lewis Carroll and Edward Lear use the language of nonsense is also defined by paradoxes, the play on stereotypes, and the usage of polysemy. Lewis... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In such a structure, Lear creates a paradox in that he uses various stereotypes of each individual that he chooses and breaks and defies that stereotype. In the creation of such limericks, Lear is specific in choosing adjectives; he uses places such as Portugal , Madras , etc. In such places there is an assumption of a stereotype of the individuals from those places, yet instead of creating that stereotype he creates nonsensical actions for those individuals. Both Carroll and Lear use polysemy throughout their nonsense. Polysemy can be defined as words or phrases having multiple meanings. Carroll uses polysemy in the fact that the creatures often take specific words for face value. For instance, the word mad has multiple meanings, it can either mean angry or crazed. Carroll is very careful to create the mad hatter and the as mad as a March hare as the same individual (Carroll). Yet it is in this matter that also fuels the nonsensical element has the mad hatter becomes a paradox. Lear uses polysemy as well throughout his limericks. For instance, There was an Old Person of Leeds/Whose head was infested with beads... (Lear, 12). The word beads could refer to the things that jewelry is made of or a reference to ones sanity (i.e. often called marbles in today s society). Such a play on words allow for the ... On January 28th, 1986, Ronald Reagan used his stature as president to show sympathy for the country in the light of tragedy, in his speech entitled Speech on the Challenger Disaster. His main point expounds on the importance of the Challenger Disaster in the history of space exploration. He supports this claim by first explaining the effect the disaster had on the public, then offering his sympathy for the families of the astronauts as well as the entire nation, and finally declaring that the country must continue to explore space so the deaths of the astronauts were not in vain. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Reagan carefully chose his words during his speech on the Challenger Disaster, using specific pronouns completely changed the way the country received the message. It was initiated when he said, we ve never lost an astronaut in flight; we ve never had a tragedy like this (5). Later he also stated: We ve grown used to the idea of space, and perhaps we forget that we ve only just begun (7). Reagan s use of we throughout the speech shows the nation that even high figures such as celebrities and political figure, in which Reagan represented both, also feel as the common people do in times of struggle and devastation. Allowing the citizens of America a shoulder to cry on for a dark and challenging time in the history of the country. Towards the end of the text Reagan started to create allusions for the American people to compare the fallen astronauts to. Such as when Reagan stated: the great explorer Sir Francis Drake died aboard ship off the coast of Panama. In his lifetime the great frontiers were the oceans, and a historian later said, He lived by the sea, died on it, and was buried in it (10). Also he makes reference to the religious figures at the end when he says, slipped the surly bongs of earth to touch the face of God (11). Using these allusions, Reagan was able to effectively convince the audience that the astronauts died for a reason and a cause, to expand our knowledge of space and explore what it could possibly contain. In the case that Reagan had not given this speech it could be possible that many people around the world would want to back off from exploring space because it could kill people that attempt to travel into it. But Reagan s speech was able to revoke confidence in NASA and other space programs, letting moms let their kids become astronauts and not saying no because of how dangerous it could be. ... • 13. The Effect Of Temperature Increases Due On Anthropogenic... Abstract The purpose of this article by Diffenbaugh et.al. is to determine how temperature increases due to anthropogenic warming change the probability of precipitation deficits that cause severe drought conditions, and determine what the conditions will look like in the future. They used historical precipitationand temperature data with Palmer Drought Metrics and global climate models to attempt to answer this question. It was found that in the past twenty years, the frequency of drought years has doubled, without any significant change in the trends of precipitation variability. This was attributed to significant increases in positive temperature anomalies causing an increased frequency of precipitation deficits leading to more occurrences of drought years. Global climate modeling suggested that by 2030, the region will transition to a regime where there is a 100% risk that all future dry years will coincide with warmer conditions, increasing the risk of extended drought conditions. This is not the first time this region has experienced prolonged drought conditions. However, it is the first time the drought has been this severe. Since 1977, the per capita water usage has decreased such that in 2013 the water demand is similar to that of 1977, meaning that it will be very difficult to come up with new short term water conservation ideas. The ship s framework was immediately hauled to a colossal dock where thousands of workers spent most of the following year building the ship s decks, interiors and boilers that would power the two main steam engines. Although the Titanic was highly boasted about for being virtually unsinkable, it actually had many flaws. According to some theories, Titanic was fated to sink from the start. The ship had watertight bulkheads and electric watertight doors which could be controlled by a switch. It was the watertight bulkheads that encouraged Shipbuilder magazine to consider the Titanic practically unsinkable. Unfortunately, the watertight compartment design possessed a major flaw that might have been a an important factor in Titanic s sinking: although, the individual bulkheads were in fact watertight, water could spill from one compartment into another. Many of the Titanic s rivals already had safety features formulated into them in order to prevent this very situation. If White Star had taken as much caution as its competitor company, it might have rewritten history and prevented the tragedy of Titanic s sinking. The second crucial ... In this painting I see linearly technique, Thorton made sure that each line stood out from the background, showing the formation of each pole. The Things They Carried A Soldiers Sweetheart Essay Difference Between Sweetheart of the Song Tra Bong amp; A Soldier s Sweetheart Once a successful novel hits the market, producers are inclined to adapt the story into a movie. Since imagination, symbolism, and character psyches are explored in a novel, the movies tend to lack the luster of the original text. Using their imagination, readers are able to conjure up characters and scenes that are unique. This is the case with Tim O Brien s, Sweetheart of the Song Tra Bong. This is a story where love and war collide after a soldier brings his sweetheart to his Vietnamese post. On the whole, this chapter in The Things They Carried is far superior to the film, The Soldier s Sweetheart, because it has thorough descriptions of characters ... The novel installs all these ideas, but it also allows the reader to use their creativity. It also gives more emphasis on little traits of the character that make the character more unique. Therefore, due to the film s inability to give audiences more information about the characters, their role and their emotions, the novel is much more informative. The novel is capable of giving readers more insight into the story with the use of symbols and hidden meanings. It is able to do this because it depicts important underlying messages and incidents. For instance, in the novel one may realize that Mary Anne starts to wear a necklace with tongues on it. This shows the readers that Mary Anne is no longer than clean innocent girl. She is now a brutal solder always ready to kill. Elongated and narrow, like pieces of blackened leather, the tongues were threaded along a length of copper wire, one overlapping the next, the tips curled upward as if caught in a final shrill syllable (O Brien 111). Fewer people are going to church than earlier in the century. Many people are marrying without even going to a priest by getting a judge to marry them. Divorce is steadily on the rise. Today s society accepts homosexuals! Now the issue arises over whether we should allow homosexuals to marry. And you know what? It is really noneof the government s business. There is no reason why the same cannot happen for homosexual couples. I am sure that many homosexual couples in the U.S. are better parents than some heterosexual couples. The fact that there are people that cannot physically have children together does not mean that they have no parental instincts or would be incapable as parents. Thus, this argument against homosexual marriages cannot hold in America. The government of America recognizes marriage as a secular entity, and with homosexual unions we must make sure that we look at marriage in this way. Marriage in the eyes of the government consists of a legal license that states that it can look at two people as one unit. A court of law can perform a marriage, thereby eliminating all religious aspects of it. So, the government looks at a marriage simply as something that is put in the records. This decade is the time of the paper marriage. More people sign pre nuptial agreements, make sure their spouse has a space on their insurance policies, and have their own line on tax forms. While this seems impersonal (can you imagine someone proposing with quot; Will you be the answer to line #3a on my 1040 and W 2? quot;), the government must look at the entity marriage this way. Stephen King declares this belief in his essay Why We Crave Horror Movies , adding his opinion to the extensive debate on the nature of humankind. Those who believe man is evil are also unable to deny their own corruption. Therefore, in order to move on from this distress, they come to accept this apparently inevitable characteristic of humanity. As long as they confine their hidden desires with seemingly ordinary activities, such as watching horror movies, the frontier that distinguishes what society deems as acceptable will remain uncrossed. In fact, King himself has gained tremendous success by taking advantage of the enjoyment he receives from horror stories and creating a career out of it; he became successful by indulging in his corrupt fantasies. In exocrine glands, secretions flow through ducts into a body cavity, such as the nasal passage or urinary tract, rather than directly into the circulation of the bloodstream, which is a characteristic of the endocrine pancreas.
