Rejection In Edward Scissorhands
Life is not always fair. Many times people have been turned down, had the door slammed in their
faces or have been told, No . But it is this rejection that helps people get back on their feet.
Sometimes it is this rejection that builds strength and character in the person. In the movie
Edward Scissorhands, Tim Burton (the director) has shown that rejection affects everyone, but
it can help to make some people stronger and brings out a side of the person that wasn t there
before. People are rejected every day, sometimes based purely on how they look or act. In today s
society, it is quite common for people to be refused, if they decide to be different. In Edward
Scissorhands Edward is looked at as though he is a monster because of the fact

Breast Auggmentation
Women who want larger breasts may consider a breast augmentation (implant surgery), whereas,
women who would like their breasts lifted may choose to have a mastopexy (breast lift). However,
women in Orange County, California, who would like to improve the shape, position and size of
their breasts should consider having a breastlift with an augmentation with Dr. Farbod Esmailian.
Dr. Esmailian is a double board certified plastic surgeon in Orange County who specializes in
performing plastic surgeryprocedures to improve sagging, deflated looking breasts.

Esmailian in Orange County
Dr. Esmailian and his medical staff are dedicated to providing each patient with the high quality
care and attention that they deserve. Therefore, during the initial consultation Dr. Esmailian will
want to know about the patient s medical history, including medications, lifestyle choices (smoking,
drinking alcohol, recreational drug use, etc.), current medical conditions (heart disease, diabetes,
etc.) as well as what she would like to accomplish with plastic surgery.
During this consultation, the patient should expect Dr. Esmailian to perform a physical evaluation
of her breasts. If he believes that the patient will benefit from a breast augmentation, breast lift or
a combination procedure, Dr. Esmailian may also choose to take pictures and measurements of the
patient s breasts. These photos may be used for reference as well as for comparison purposes once
her surgery is complete.
The majority of patients will need to have pre surgical testing performed. This testing frequently
includes blood tests. In addition, some patients may be required to visit their family physician to
receive a surgical release prior to scheduling their surgery with Dr. Esmailian at his surgery center

Various Rocket Propellants and Their Characterstics
Rocket
A rocket is a missile, spacecraft, aircraft or other vehicle which obtains thrust from a rocket engine.
In all rockets, the exhaust is formed entirely from propellants carried within the rocket before
use.[1] Rocket engines work by action and reaction. Rocket engines push rockets forwards simply
by throwing their exhaust backwards extremely fast.
Rockets for military and recreational uses date back to at least 13th century China.[2] Significant
scientific, interplanetary and industrial use did not occur until the 20th century, when rocketry was
the enabling technology of the Space Age, including setting foot on the moon.
Rockets are used for fireworks, weaponry, ejection seats, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Rocket propellant
Rocket propellant is mass that is stored in some form of propellant tank, prior to being used as
the propulsive mass that is ejected from a rocket engine in the form of a fluid jet to produce thrust.
A fuel propellant is often burned with an oxidizer propellant to produce large volumes of very hot
gas. These gases expand and push on a nozzle, which accelerates them until they rush out of the
back of the rocket at extremely high speed, making thrust. Sometimes the propellant is not burned,
but can be externally heated for more performance. For smaller attitude control thrusters, a
compressed gas escapes the spacecraft through a propelling nozzle.
Chemical rocket propellants are most commonly used, which undergo exothermic chemical
reactions to produce hot gas used by a rocket for propulsive purposes.
In ion propulsion, the propellant is made of electrically charged atoms (ions), which are
electromagnetically pushed out of the back of the spacecraft. Magnetically accelerated ion drives
are not usually considered to be rockets however, but a similar class of thrusters use electrical
heating and magnetic nozzles.
Chemical propellants
There are three main types of propellants: solid, liquid, and hybrid.
Solid propellants

Racism And Heterosexism Within African American Churches
The struggle that Black churches have on homosexuality has been an ongoing battle. The issue of
homophobia and heterosexism within African American churches is a difficult one. Regardless of
the complexity of the matter, it is one that the black community must address. It is, to ensure, time
for the black religious leaders to truly live into its justice asserting social, political, historical, and
theological beliefs which would lead to eliminating any manifestation of the sin of homophobia
from its very mindset. The denouncement of black LGBTindividuals presents factors about why

Harris explains that theses exertions became a matter of life and death during the early 1980s when
predominately male African American male congregants, pastors and other church members
became sick from an unknown illness which later became recognized as the autoimmune deficiency
syndrome (AIDS). AIDS and the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) has a superfluous effect
on the black community. African Americans accumulate nearly half of most HIV and AIDS
diagnoses. The delayed response of black leaders to the epidemic was another factor that incited the
highly prevalent rates of HIV and AIDS cases within the African American community. Along with
affected gay men, prostitutes and intravenous drug users became infected as well; Harris further
reports that those people were considered degenerates and immoral by black church leaders. Trailing
back to the days of slavery, black religious leaders assisted as freedom fighters of social justice
for oppressed African Americans. Those affected with the disease looked to religious leadership
for spiritual support and to bring the disease to light. However instead of the desired support, they
were faced with disdain and denunciation at the lifestyle as black leaders believed caused the
individuals to be affected with the disease. Furthermore, Harris addresses that many gay men who
died from the disease were restricted from being buried beside their home churches. This

quot;A Doll s House quot; Essay
The suppressed position of women was blatantly highlighted in Henrik Isbens play titled A Doll s
House The dehumanization weathered by Nora, the dependence she felt, along with lack of
adequate experience and education all played a part in Isbens story as if it were exact
representations of society just beyond the doll house walls. As the reality of Nora s predicament
was raised to the surface her inability to manage herself is seemingly what leads her down the path
to her own independence. It is through the disillusionment that Nora undeniably felt towards her
husband Torvald and the world that she finally comprehends her unmitigated state of repression.
Nora clearly represents the doll of the house and Torvald s... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This further reduces her as an individual. Torvald employs a nursemaid to care for their children
and this custom appears to be commonplace among the elite in that time.
Nora was completely dependent on Torvald and he adored that fact. He noted that her
dependence on him made her more alluring; she becomes both wife and child to him. He does
not see her as his equal as women were typically not viewed as equal partners. He sees her only
as his possession, a young, vibrant Nora, magnificent for only him, for him to show off at his will,
and to signify his manhood. It is possible that he was much her elder and it was admired among
men to seek out a young woman for marriage, they were more malleable and up to the task of
bearing their children.
The sense that woman were helpless creatures seemed to echo in the society around them. It
appears that most women were not considered for work or allowed to educate themselves.
Torvald viewed Nora as a frail creature, child like and completely helpless yet influential and
responsible for the morality of the family. Nora s character seemed to represent the way women
were more or less held captive in their homes just as they were in society. This dependent role for
woman was emphasized when Mrs. Linde spoke of her life being empty; that she had no one to
care for and there was no pleasure in working for oneself. Wife and mother were the most important
roles that women played and without

Corruption In Texas
Texas is an interesting state when it comes to party affiliation because of the size of the state itself.
On one hand, the state of Texas has 4 of the top 20 biggest cities in the United States including
Houston, San Antonio, Dallas, and Austin. With all of these large and mostly liberal cities, it is
quite impressive that Texashas held onto top Republican offices since 1994. According to Will
(2016) in his article, A changing Lone Star Statecould change the GOP, Texas is 84.7 percent
urban, and, based on the history of urban states, they usually lean towards the Democratic Party
affiliation. However, according to Sanhueza (2017) in his article Why is Texas So Red, And How
Did It Get That Way?, with this urbanization the Republican party... Show more content on

This could be interpreted as proof that Texas may be changing to some extent, but I think the
reason Trump won by a smaller margin is because of his plans for the wall between Mexico and
Texas and the changing demographics.
Although Texas is a huge Republican state, I think the only issue that could cause Texas to
transform into a swing state is President Trump himself. Let s just start with President Trump s
approval rating. According to Svitek (2017) in his article Poll: Trump approval rating
underwater in Texas, Trump s approval rating in the Republican state of Texas is only 42 percent
while disapproval is 54 percent. Like I mentioned earlier, I believe this is due to the egregious
things that come out of his mouth. The problem that falls into Texas lap is the large population
of of Hispanics combined with having Trump as our President. According to Anderson (2016) in
his article Lone Star Uprising, In 2010, for example, half of all children under 5 years old were
Hispanic, versus only 20 percent of people over 65 years old. This is going to provide some
issues in the future for Texas because if Trump does build the wall between Texas and Mexico and
if Donald Trump keeps favoring strict immigration laws, Texas might

In contrived observation, the respondents behaviour is observed in an artificial environment, for
example, a food tasting session.
Personal
In personal observation, a researcher observes actual behaviour as it occurs. The observer may or
may not normally attempt to control or manipulate the phenomenon being observed. The observer
merely records what takes place.
Mechanical
Mechanical devices (video, closed circuit television) record what is being observed. These devices
may or may not require the respondent s direct participation. They are used for continuously
recording on going behaviour.
Non participant
The observer does not normally question or communicate with the people being observed. He or
she does not participate.
Participant
In participant observation, the researcher becomes, or is, part of the group that is being
investigated. Participant observation has its roots in ethnographic studies (study of man and races)
where researchers would live in tribal villages, attempting to understand the customs and practices
of that culture. It has a very extensive literature, particularly in sociology (development, nature and
laws of human society) and anthropology (physiological and psychological study of man).
Organizations can be viewed as tribes with their own customs and practices.
Advantages
1)Helps capture the behavior of customers directly.
Disadvantages;
1)Time consuming and costly exercise.
2) Personal biasness of investigators will distort the findings.

Dress shopping was not the way I had planned to spend that Friday. Stores full of self obsessing
girls who have a false idea of how an artificially composed article of clothing can boost their
confidence or make a night one to remember . I wanted to be a part of this but I was unsure if I
still wanted to go; however, I got myself into this. We were driving on the interstate in my
girlfriend s grandfather s truck. Zaina (my girlfriend) had allowed me to come with her mother
and little brother to what I thought was going to be the longest day of my life! The entire time
in the car I was crammed into the bucket seats in the back of the truck, where I could hear the
suspension making funny creaking sounds and that something was very wrong with the
transmission. Regardless of the situation we were having a blast: the sun was shining, the Red
Hot Chili Peppers were on the radio, and it was a beautiful seventy five degree day in Northern
Illinois. As her boyfriend, I had already made a list describing the ideal dressfor Zaina. I did not
want her to wear something that she did not feel perfect in, nor did I want her to wish anything
was different. The dress had to be flawless in her eyes. I kept telling myself, What a dress means

History of Portraiture Essay example
History of Portraiture
Portraiture is a visual representation of an individual people, distinguished by references to the
subject s character, social position, wealth, or profession.
Portraitists often strive for exact visual likenesses. However, although the viewer s correct
identification of the sitter is of primary importance, exact replication is not always the goal. Artists
may intentionally alter the appearance of their subjects by embellishing or refining their images to
emphasize or minimize particular qualities (physical, psychological, or social) of the subject.
Viewers sometimes praise most highly those images that seem to look very little like the sitter
because these images are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Romans were expert in rendering individuals. Some scholars have argued that it was the
practice of making and keeping death masks of ancestors (worn by survivors in the funeral
processions) that accounts for the enormous skill with which Roman portraitists captured the
individuality of their subjects. Many portrait busts survive, including images of Roman rulers as
well as poignant representations of aged citizens. Especially noteworthy are the mummy portraits
from the region of Al FayyГ…В«m in Egypt. Painted during the 2nd century ad, these portraits
depict individuals who stare wide eyed at the viewer. These slightly simplified representations of
staring subjects anticipate the severity and frontal orientation of early medieval portraits.
The Renaissance marked a turning point in the history of portraiture. Partly out of interest in the
natural world and partly out of interest in the classical cultures of ancient Greece and Rome,
portraitsГ‚ both painted and sculptedГ‚ were given an important role in Renaissance society.
In the Netherlands, Jan van Eyck was a leading portraitist; The Arnolfini Marriage (1434, National
Gallery, London) is a detailed full length portrait of a couple. Leading German portrait artists
include Hans Holbein the Younger and Albrecht DГ

Analysis Of The Movie The Graduate Essay
Edward Brambila
English 2 Prof. Sosner
12/16/2016
The Art of Symbolism in The Graduate The movie The Graduate is a struggle story of a fine
caliber that falls under the genre of comedic drama. Some might even argue that it was one of
the best films of its time and even till this day. The way the movie blends characters is anything
but superficial and its use of symbolism to describe said characters leaves little more to be
desired. While some may not like the movie and say it falls short the movie has proper use of
symbolism through the use of multiple props, it also uses symbolic statements as a way to
strengthen Dustin Hoffman s character s archetype and clue in on specific details which in turn
shows us the relationships between him and other characters. Of the many symbolic details the
first two we encounter at the very beginning of the film are cluing us in on the character of
Dustin Hoffman who is known as Benjamin Braddock. The two details happen almost
simultaneously, one being the song The Sound of Silence by Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel and
the other is the symbolic action of him sliding across the screen on an airport conveyor belt. The
first detail, the song, suggests that the character Benjamin or Ben is lost in the world. He has no
idea where to go from this point in his life forward. He is lost in the darkness of life and is
directionless. The second detail is the conveyor belt which forcibly moving him along. This
conveys the fact that throughout

Slumdog Millionaire Film Techniques
Danny Boyles film Slumdog Millionaire follows two brothers from the Juhu slum in Mumbai as
they face the trials and tributes of growing up in poverty. Although Salim, the elder brother, is
given the same childhood experiences and trauma as his younger brother Jamal, his drive and
hunger for power lead him to a life of crime, corruption and misconduct. These actions later have a
detrimental effect on his relationship with Jamal, which in turn, becomes his demise. Boyle uses a
range of effective film techniques to develop Salim s growth as a character which helps to
communicate the idea that ambition can enhance an individual or be the reason for their downfall.

This in itself begins to twist and corrupt Salim as he is trying to become powerful by acting
controlling and aggressive to the other children, which, in turn, detaches him for their group as
they consider him, controlling and greedy almost like he s Maman s pet . Boyle s use of these
film techniques to show how Salim s ambition is being used against him. Maman see s this
hunger for power and control in such a young child and uses it to harness control over Salim,
moulding Salim into a replica of himself. Boyle continues to develop these ideas in Salim s
adolescents as his childish naivety is replaced by the defiance and neglect for others that is
brought about by the denial of his childhood trauma. At this point in his life, Salim has changed a
lot due to the effects of the tough life he has had. His childhood trauma has simply been pushed
to the back of his mind, but these forgotten memories are constantly biting at the back of his
thoughts further corrupting his ideas of morality and his hunger for power. Salim is face to face
with his idol again. When Maman first enters the room a dutch angle is used to show the
confusion and shock from both parties. Salim and Maman have not seen each other for years and
Salim has changed a lot in that time. Maman and Salim are seen in a mid shot together. Salim is no

Rainbow Warrior Research Paper
The sinking of the Rainbow Warrior was an event that truly began when Greenpeace first formed,
almost two decades before the bombing in Auckland Harbour occured. In the late 1960s, the United
States government planned to carry out nuclear testing on Amchitka, an unstable island in Alaska
which had a dangerous fault line and was prone to earthquakes and tsunamis after the serious
earthquake in Alaska, 1964. A group known as the Don t Make A Wave committee formed to
protest against the nuclear testing on the island. The committee began to make plans for other
campaigns against nuclear testing elsewhere, as well as establishing their first office in Vancouver,
Canada. Many of the members then decided to take the next step with their committee,... Show

Although Greenpeace s campaign in the early 1970s had created positive change for the
environment and people by forcing the French government to move their testing underground, it
caused serious conflict between France and Greenpeace. This led to France taking action
against the organisation, by planting two bombs on Greenpeace s Rainbow Warrior when it was
docked in the Auckland Harbour before its upcoming journey into the Murorua Atoll in 1985.
The bomb was supposedly intended to make a point and end Greenpeace s protests as peacefully
as possible, without harming anyone. However, Fernando Pereira, a photographer on board the
boat, was killed by the second bomb s explosion, and the vessel was sunk. This outcome led to the
event being labelled a terrorist attack , both on Greenpeace and New Zealand, as it was initially
unclear who the attack was aimed at. The bombing and its disastrous results would alter the

Southwest Flight 1248
Some of the witnesses did not realize what was actually happening such as; we thought it was an
automobile accident and we looked out the window and we saw the tail section of a Southwest
airliner laying across the street (ASN, 2007). Further, witnesses also reported that people were
running and ambulances were coming down the street (ASN, 2007). The witness reports for the
accident of flight 1248 were not a significant source of the investigation. Findings. The NTSB
made 23 findings relative to this accident, discussing crew qualifications, use of reverse thrust, use
of automatic brakes, landing conditions, landing surface condition guidance, and Engineering
Materials Arresting System (EMAS) (FAA, 2005). Probable Cause The National Transportation
Safety Board (NTSB) determined that the probable cause of the accident was the pilots failure to
use available reverse thrust in a timely manner to safely slow or stop the airplane after landing,
which resulted in a runway overrun. This failure occurred because the pilots first experience and
lack of familiarity with the airplane s autobrake system distracted them from using reverse thrust
during the challenging landing (FAA, 2005). According to the NTSB report of accident flight 1248,

The Safety Board concludes that the pilots first use of the airplane s autobrake system during a
challenging landing situation led to the pilots distraction from the otherwise routine task of
deploying the thrust reversers promptly after touchdown (NTSB, 2007). Therefore, if the pilots had
been presented with stopping margins associated with the input winds or had known that the
stopping margins calculated by the OPC for the 737 700 already assumed credit for the use of
thrust reversers, the pilots may have elected to divert (NTSB,

Cold Blood By Truman Capote
The novel, In Cold Blood by Truman Capote would be a good, diverse addition to the ENG 3U
course for many reasons, beginning with how the novel is non fiction, but still manages to create a
story line, while remaining appealing for the reason that it differs from most novels on course
syllabus to the way the author can make you feel for the characters. In Cold Bloodis a novel written
about a real life event that happened in Holcomb, Kansas, 1959. A family of four is murdered in
their house in cold blood. While this seems intriguing enough, Truman Capotekeeps the entire novel
interesting by being descriptive in the way characters are described Marie examined the frontВview

The Journey Of Cultural Practices
Framework Overview
Although referred to as the competing values framework the mainstay of this theory is to recognize
the many dynamics aspects it takes in managerial personnel to effectively operate a financially
sound organization. Although sufficient in describing the four differencing administration styles,
controller, competitor, creator and the clan leader, this framework limits itself by conflicting each
value as independently working against one another instead of encompassing a wraparound
approach as used in Public Health, seen in (appendix A) where more fluid dynamics interplay in
both the internal and external aspects of the agency providing for more client centered, population
focused, community based services through well matched system approaches. Of note, not one of
the four identified approaches has been proven to be more effective than another, however in
totality, much like an interdisciplinary team approach to services, when incorporated equally, each
skill set complements the overall goal of the agency.
Organizational Leadership The Journey of Cultural Practices in End of Life Care initiative is a
program under the umbrella of public health and as such reports the stakeholders formed of by the

Analysis Of House Of The Seven Gables Essay
Evil within the Portraits The traditional Gothic taste for portraits is frequent in many novels and
short stories that follow the conventions of literary mode making it present in these both texts;
House of the Seven Gables by Hawthorne and Edgar Allen Poe s The Oval Portrait. Often the
characters in such Gothic romances are haunted by the tyranny of the past, which make it
inescapable. It often leads to the destruction of their loved ones. Others motive of escape is often
pulled back by a curse that the character creates upon himself. According to The Art of Terror by
Maria Antonia Lima she says, These portraits are usually a source of terror, with the past
presented as something alive, like a ghost that haunts the present with its terrible mystery. Many
authors consider this kind of literature itself as an example of modern art because it can become
an anti realist protest and a rebellion of the imagination against the reduction of fiction to the
analysis of contemporary habits (Lima 80). The painter introduces the portrait in the Oval
Portrait by Edgar Allen Poe as overwhelming to him. The painter changes his behavior by no
longer seeing his wife as his wife rather as an image through the lens of his painting. This idea of
a portrait can be signified as a curse. A curse that plays with the Pyncheon s and the painter s
emotions. In The House of the Seven Gables the portrait of Colonel Pyncheon is presented as an
everlasting reminder of its dark past and the

Raynaud s Disease Analysis
Introduction: Raynaud s phenomenon is a disease that affects the blood flow to your fingers,
and rarely your toes, nose, ears, lips, nipples, and knees can be affected as well. It is a result of
an abnormal response of the blood vessels after being exposed to cold temperatures, increased
stress, or excitement. It was first recognized by Maurice Raynaud MD in 1862, and was
subsequently named after him. He stated that, local asphyxia of the extremities was a result of
increased irritability of the central parts of the cord presiding over vascular innervation , (Herrick,
2005. para 1). A person with Raynaud s suffers periodic attacks, where the bloodvessels, mainly in
the fingers, narrow causing spasm of the blood vessels. This results in a decreased blood flow to
the tissues of the fingers; then leads to first pallor, then... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(National Institutes of Health, 2014) When someone with Reynaud s experiences an attack;
they go through three phases of color change to their fingers, toes, or any other appendage that is
affected. These phases begin with pallor, a white/pale color, in response to the spasms of the
arterioles and resulting collapse of the arteries which supply the fingers, and toes. As a result of
this collapse of the arteries, cyanosis, a blue to purple color, begins due to decreased or no
oxygenated blood to the area. In severe cases, tissue death can occur, gangrene, if the person has
prolonged periods of disrupted blood supply to the areas affected. Once the arterioles relax and
dilate blood quickly rushes back in, giving the appendage a rubor, bright red color. They often
experience increased temperature to the affected area, edema, pain, and throbbing. (National

The Social Hierarchy Of The Algonquin Indians
The Algonquins were a Native American people who settled from Maine all along the east coast
down into Virginia. The Algonquin were very peaceful and docile people, when the pilgrims landed
at Plymouth Rock, Massachusetts they helped to teach them how to live off their new lands and
ultimately ensured the survival of Europeans in North America. Although there are smaller sub
sections of the Algonquin tribes, such as the Mohegans, the Pesquots, and the Narragansetts, they
were all united through a central language. The Algonquins lived in a very patriarchal society
where men ruled the homes and owned all the lands. Overall the Algonquins were the most

Phaedo by Plato Essay examples
Phaedo by Plato
The opening of Plato s Phaedo finds Socrates constructing a defense of the philosophical life.
When consideration is given to the status of philosophy in Greece at the end of the fifth century
BCE, such a defense seems unnecessary and, at the same time, difficult. This is because ancient
Greece provides us with the origins of philosophy, and yet this particular period in history serves as
a good demonstration of the public s general distaste for and persecution of it. Several
philosophers, including Pythagoras, Anaxagoras, and Protagoras, were ridiculed and attacked for
their beliefs. In spite of these social deterrents, Socrates remained faithful to his life long pursuit,
even though it led to his demise. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Socrates believes that the entire philosophical endeavor is a preparation for death and that the true
philosopher looks forward to dying. His students, however, cannot understand why the philosopher
should want to die, and Socrates hopes to dispel their fears of death while bringing them to an
awareness of a figurative death where desires cease to control the soul . In addition to noticing the
figurative nature of death, he also wants them to give further consideration to the literal death as
well.
The distinction between these two types of death, figurative and literal, creates two possible
avenues for the philosophical life. Socrates defines death as the release of the soul from the body
. This definition implies both a view of death as placing distance between the soul and the body
during this life and a complete separation at the moment of death. The responsibility of the
philosopher is to seek liberation here in this life and, in so doing, to prepare for the afterlife, as
preparation for both the literal and figurative deaths coalesce into a single activity.
Liberation here in the visible realm comes from recognizing the hindering function of the body in
the soul s search for knowledge. Socrates comments that a soul associated too closely with the
body will be

The Power Of Fate In Oedipus The King
Sophocles states that Fate has terrible power. You cannot escape it by wealth or war. No fort will
keep it out, no ships outrun it. Fate derives from a Latin word, fatum, meaning that one s future is
predetermined. In Oedipus Rex, Sophocles unfolds the misfortune of a noble king who searches for
knowledge. Evidently, Greek heroes like Oedipusare destined to rule, but are also bound to fall,
therefore, he cannot alter his own fate. This tragic play proves that the power of fate is indeed
stronger than one s free will. Despite his attempts to fight his destiny, Oedipus can never outrun his
fate. Regardless of his parents desperation to evade the predicted outcome, fate guides his
journey for knowledge, leading to his destruction. Oedipus rises as a hero, but eventually loses
his power when he faithfully commits to terrible deeds. Jocasta, the wife and mother to Oedipus,
doubts that the oracle of Apollo is genuine. Since she and her previous husband, King Laius, left
Oedipus to die in the mountains, they refuse to believe the oracle. She claims that ..It was fate
that he should die a victim at the hands of his own son, a son to be born of Laius and me. But,
see now, he, the king, was killed by foreign highway robbers at a place where three roads meet
(Sophocles, 493: 791 796). Despite Jocasta and Laius s intentions to change their fate, the prophecy
remains unfeigned. The fact that Oedipus is alive even after being abandoned, is evidence that their

Ban government from using face recognition and other biometric technologies.
Sounds good, but it won t work. For one thing, the spycams are already here and Congress is
highly unlikely to pass a law forcing every city in the country to take down their cameras.
What s more, the ban everything approach ignores the technologies plain benefits. Any woman
who s had to walk through a deserted parking garage to her car knows why many people might
welcome cameras.
With many advances ahead, computer linked surveillance cameras can already identify crimes as
they occur, reduce false arrests and convictions and provide much better evidence than notoriously
unreliable witness testimony. Linked to biometric databases, the cameras can help prevent fraud,
find a lost child, and keep terrorists out of airports and pedophiles out of schools.
The logic here is specious just because the spycams are already here does not mean that they aren t
going away. Police surveillance cameras were installed in Times Square in the late 1960s, but
were taken down because they were judged to be cost ineffective: in 22 months of operation, they
led to the arrest of only 10 people, all for minor infractions.

World s Increasing Demand For Energy Essay
World s increasing demand for energy is fulfilled by different sectors (like Oil, Coal, Natural Gas,
Hydro, Nuclear and others). Fossil fuels remain the dominant source of energy powering the world
economy, supplying 60% of the energy increase out to 2035. Within that, gas looks set to become
the fastest growing fossil fuel, spurred on by ample supplies and supportive environmental policies.
1.1 BACKGROUND
From the advert of the modern oil and gas industry, petroleum geologists and engineers have
followed a conventional route for exploration; look for hydrocarbon source rocks, find reservoir
quality rocks where hydrocarbons can accumulate, identify a trapping mechanism and then drill a
well. But a revolution is taking place in the exploration and production (E P) industry. Rocks that in
the past were of little interest, other than as potential source rocks, are today being actively pursued
as potential reservoirs. When considering unconventional resource plays, the focus is on finding
organic shale s. This development represents a fundamental shift in the way exploration companies
consider resource plays. Engineers and geologists studying shale gas resources find that reservoir
can lead to process adaptation and refinement of techniques. It is important to integrate data from
many sources and at many scales to optimally drill, complete and stimulate wells to produce
hydrocarbons from their source rocks. The two other type of existing unconventional gas resources

Grade Inflation Is The Biggest Issue
Is Grade Inflation Truly The Biggest Issue? Grade inflation, the belief that students are receiving
grades that they haven t worked for and therefore don t deserve. But what s so wrong about grade
inflation? When learning about this subject we also open the doors to learning about the multitude
of other problems plaguing our educational system that could use our attention much more than
gradeinflation does. Through gradeinflation we re able to understand problems often forgotten
about and looked over. When researching into the topic of grade inflation one begins to see a
multitude of problems arise that have been previously ignored and have been left to continue
wreaking havoc on the educational system. Mark Oppenheimer shares a similar points of view
in his article where he discussed his opinion, that grade inflation is one of the much lesser issues
and that we need to be focusing on other things.(other things, just quote his article). His ideas are
countered by the ideas of people such as Rojstaczer who argue that grade inflation is becoming an
out of control issue that needs to be fixed (add in quotes from the book and article) In the past
colleges like Princeton and Wellesley have tried to adopt policies to help curb grade inflation. Even
though it lowered the percentages of high grades, effectively lowering the amount of grade
inflation, it came with the cost of unforeseen consequences that affected the students and staff. In
his article Rojstaczer

Essay about Reviving Psychophysical Supervenience
Reviving Psychophysical Supervenience
ABSTRACT: Many philosophers have lost their enthusiasm for the concept of supervenience in the
philosophy of mind. This is largely due to the fact that, as Jaegwon Kim has shown, familiar
versions of supervenience describe relations of mere property covariation without capturing the idea
of dependence. Since the dependence of the mental on the physical is a necessary requirement for
even the weakest version of physicalism, it would seem that existing forms of supervenience cannot
achieve that for which they were designed. My aim is to revive the concept of supervenience. I
argue that if we construe supervenience along Davidsonian lines as a relation connecting predicates
rather than properties ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In light of this, many have lost their enthusiasm for this idea.
My goal in this paper is to renew our faith in supervenience. To do so, however, will not require
the development of a new formulation of the concept; instead, it involves clearing up some
misconceptions about an existing version of this relation. I refer to Davidson s original treatment
of supervenience. Most have assumed that Davidson s brand of supervenience is equivalent to
Kim s weak supervenience, which is too weak to express dependence. I will argue that Davidson s
conception of supervenience is, despite certain formal similarities, quite different from Kim s and
clearly captures a sense of psychophysical dependence that is of use to forms of physicalism.
As I see it, the difference between Kim s approach and Davidson s lies in the items supervenience
is thought to connect. Kim s formulations of supervenience connect properties, which he takes to
be the ontological building blocks of events. In general then, Kim treats supervenience as a
metaphysical thesis about the distribution of properties in possible worlds. By contrast, Davidson
has little tolerance for the idea that events should be analyzed in terms of property
exemplifications. Given Davidson s reluctance to endorse properties, he prefers to think of
supervenience as a relation between

Revolutionary War A Just War Analysis
Have you ever wondered if the beginning of the United Sates was based off of a just war? Saint
Augustine, a renowned Christian theologian and philosopher, addressed the idea of a just war
during the time of the Roman Empire. Augustine is well known for his book City of God in
which he first introduces his standards of a just war. These standards must be met for a war to
be classified as just. This new concept that war could be approved by God and used for good
revolutionized the way Christians viewed war. Although written hundreds of years ago, these
standards have truly stood the test of time because they are still referred to today. Based on
Augustine s standards, The Revolutionary War can be argued as a just war because there was a just

standards of war so that we are only involved in wars hat directly threaten our national security. This
would result in America taking part in far fewer conflicts which would save money and resources,
reduce the number of unnecessary lives lost, and reduce the hatred of America in many countries.
Tightening the standards would insure that future wars are fought for the protection of our country,
but not for spreading democracy or nation building. America has continuously meddled in other
countries affairs, which has led to a growing anger and resentment of America in those countries.
Reducing anger towards America becomes even more important since our country now has a
relatively open immigration policy which has allowed immigrants from countries into America.

Historical Analysis, Discourse, And Frame Analysis
By using a mixed set of methodological methods that includes statistical analysis, historical analysis,
discourse analysis, and frame analysis techniques, Beckett is able to paint a broad picture of her
argument. Her use of polls and surveys demonstrates that the traditional link between public opinion
and the tough on crimepolicies that led to mass incarceration is problematic. Her historical
analysis traces the historical development of these policies highlighting the various players and
actors operating and struggling for power. Finally, her discourse and frame analysis demonstrates
the ways in which elites were able to utilize mass media to create a specific frame and discourse
surrounding criminal behavior that played on racial fears and anxieties and helped push their
agenda, whether it be increased incarceration or simply winning elections.
Valocchi seems dismissive of the ability of these methods to perform queer analysis. As he points
out, Quantitative, variable based methodologies, by contrast, assume that the indicators used to
measure social processes do indeed capture something real and objective (2005:767). He implies
that non ethnographic methods have built in assumptions that their classification systems perfectly
portray practices and motivations of those within those systems. What he fails to consider is that
these methods can be used for the very purpose of highlighting these inconsistencies. The dominant
ideology of criminal justice is that crime

Jackson And Andrew Jackson
Andrew Jackson acted more as King Andrew who incited mob rule rather than the man of the
people which he claimed to be. Andrew Jackson disagreed with different government systems,
moved his friends and allies into the cabinet, and closed the national bank which proved that
Andrew Jackson knew how he wanted to change the course of America and took less interest in
pubic opinion. Andrew Jacksonacted as more of a king than a president. Jackson did not serve for
the people of America, Jackson served to change America how he believe it should be run. By
ignoring the government Jackson acts more like a king than a president. Jackson went against
Supreme Court decision and removed Indians from their land. As Jackson said in his Second
Annual Message to Congress Jackson commented that, the removal of the Indians beyond the white
settlements is approaching to a happy consummation (Doc E). Indians on the land that Jackson
forcibly removed them from was delegated as their land by the Supreme Court. By going against
the Supreme Court, Jackson did not act presidentially. Also, The removal of Indians resulted in
countless Indian deaths and resulted in violence. Another example of Jackson attending to his own
agenda was the issue of nullification and South Carolina. Jackson had a personal bias against John

The Effects Of Melanoma On The Integumentary System Essay
Integumentary System The Integumentary system is defined as an organ system consisting in the
skin, hair, nails, and exocrine glands (Integumentary System, 1999). This systems main purpose is
to protect the body from the environment around it. The skin covers and protects tissues, nerves,
veins, and muscles of the body. The hair and nails give extra strength in reinforcing the skinwhile
keeping the body warm and protecting the skin from harmful UV rays. The exocrine glands of the
skin include the sudoriferous glands, sebaceous glands, and the ceruminous glands. Each exocrine
gland has a different function as well as location in the skin. The following text will explain the
effects of melanoma on the integumentary system.
Skin
The skin is divided into three different parts including the epidermis, dermis, and hypodermis. The
epidermis is the outermost layer of the skin. This region of the skin has no blood cells or blood
vessels running through it. All of the nutrients that the epidermis needs are received through
diffusion from the dermis. The epidermis is made up of stratified squamous epithelial cells. The
epidermis is made of five separate layers: the stratum basale, stratum spinosum, stratum granulosum,
stratum lucidum, and the stratum corneum. Starting at the innermost layer, the stratum basale is
where mitosis of keratinocytes takes place. This layer of the epidermis also contains melanocytes
which give the skin it s pigment. As mitosis takes place in the stratum

The Differences Between Dementia And Alzheimer s Disease
When a lot of people think about dementia or Alzheimer s disease, they usually use the two
interchangeably and think they have to do with memory. It is true that they have to do with
memory, but there are major differences between dementia and Alzheimer s disease.
Misconceptions and lack of knowledge can lead to death or injury, which is why initiatives like
Healthy People 2020 are so important. Dementias and Alzheimer s affect a person s daily life in
many ways and it can be dangerous or deadly if not diagnosed and dealt with properly. It is
important that there is an increase in people and their caregivers who are aware of the diagnosisand
a decrease in preventable hospitalizations. Before explaining why this initiative is so important, it
is necessary to explain the differences between dementia and Alzheimer s disease. Dementia is
actually not a disease. It s a bunch of symptoms and is seen more as an umbrella term ( ). It is
generally used to describe the loss or decline of cognitive functioning to the point where it
affects the person s daily life. Dementia occurs in people who have diseases such as ( ). It is
generally seen as an elder problem that develops as someone ages, but this is not necessarily
true. Most people who have dementia or Alzheimer s are 65 or older, but there is a type of
dementia that affects younger people. This type is called Early Onset Dementia (EOD) that affects
people under 65 years, while 65 years and older would be Late Onset Dementia

With regards to theoretical applications, the book elaborates on the proposal, which is fair trade, and

movement started in the 1970 s, a great oil spill happened that Santa Barbara had in California,

people went to the street to protest for the negative impacts of more than a hundred years of
industrial development. The natural environment has been on a road of destruction ever since the
industrial revolution. In addition, humans have been overwhelmed with gaining wealth that they
have ignored the environmental needs for many years. It can be said that this movement has been a
great success in protecting the environment. There are three main reasons why this movement is
successful: The first, is the strong focus of the movement, which promotes public awareness of
pollution problems, the second, is all the positive influence the main media has have to the
movement and lastly, is the overall knowledge that people receive after participating in an earth

But it is this rejection that helps people get back on their feet. Sometimes it is this rejection that builds strength and character in the person. In the movie Edward Scissorhands, Tim Burton (the director) has shown that rejection affects everyone, but it can help to make some people stronger and brings out a side of the person that wasn t there before. People are rejected every day, sometimes based purely on how they look or act. In today s society, it is quite common for people to be refused, if they decide to be different. In all rockets, the exhaust is formed entirely from propellants carried within the rocket before use.[1] Rocket engines work by action and reaction. Rocket engines push rockets forwards simply by throwing their exhaust backwards extremely fast. Rockets for military and recreational uses date back to at least 13th century China.[2] Significant scientific, interplanetary and industrial use did not occur until the 20th century, when rocketry was the enabling technology of the Space Age, including setting foot on the moon. Rockets are used for fireworks, weaponry, ejection seats, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Rocket propellant Rocket propellant is mass that is stored in some form of propellant tank, prior to being used as the propulsive mass that is ejected from a rocket engine in the form of a fluid jet to produce thrust. A fuel propellant is often burned with an oxidizer propellant to produce large volumes of very hot gas. These gases expand and push on a nozzle, which accelerates them until they rush out of the back of the rocket at extremely high speed, making thrust. Sometimes the propellant is not burned, but can be externally heated for more performance. For smaller attitude control thrusters, a compressed gas escapes the spacecraft through a propelling nozzle. Chemical rocket propellants are most commonly used, which undergo exothermic chemical reactions to produce hot gas used by a rocket for propulsive purposes. In ion propulsion, the propellant is made of electrically charged atoms (ions), which are electromagnetically pushed out of the back of the spacecraft. Magnetically accelerated ion drives are not usually considered to be rockets however, but a similar class of thrusters use electrical heating and magnetic nozzles. Chemical propellants There are three main types of propellants: solid, liquid, and hybrid. Solid propellants History The earliest rockets were created hundreds of years ago by the Chinese, and ... The issue of homophobia and heterosexism within African American churches is a difficult one. Regardless of the complexity of the matter, it is one that the black community must address. It is, to ensure, time for the black religious leaders to truly live into its justice asserting social, political, historical, and theological beliefs which would lead to eliminating any manifestation of the sin of homophobia from its very mindset. Harris explains that theses exertions became a matter of life and death during the early 1980s when predominately male African American male congregants, pastors and other church members became sick from an unknown illness which later became recognized as the autoimmune deficiency syndrome (AIDS). AIDS and the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) has a superfluous effect on the black community. African Americans accumulate nearly half of most HIV and AIDS diagnoses. The delayed response of black leaders to the epidemic was another factor that incited the highly prevalent rates of HIV and AIDS cases within the African American community. Along with affected gay men, prostitutes and intravenous drug users became infected as well; Harris further reports that those people were considered degenerates and immoral by black church leaders. Trailing back to the days of slavery, black religious leaders assisted as freedom fighters of social justice for oppressed African Americans. Those affected with the disease looked to religious leadership for spiritual support and to bring the disease to light. However instead of the desired support, they were faced with disdain and denunciation at the lifestyle as black leaders believed caused the individuals to be affected with the disease. Furthermore, Harris addresses that many gay men who died from the disease were restricted from being buried beside their home churches. This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. quot;A Doll s House quot; Essay The suppressed position of women was blatantly highlighted in Henrik Isbens play titled A Doll s House The dehumanization weathered by Nora, the dependence she felt, along with lack of adequate experience and education all played a part in Isbens story as if it were exact representations of society just beyond the doll house walls. As the reality of Nora s predicament was raised to the surface her inability to manage herself is seemingly what leads her down the path to her own independence. The sense that woman were helpless creatures seemed to echo in the society around them. It appears that most women were not considered for work or allowed to educate themselves. Torvald viewed Nora as a frail creature, child like and completely helpless yet influential and responsible for the morality of the family. Nora s character seemed to represent the way women were more or less held captive in their homes just as they were in society. This could be interpreted as proof that Texas may be changing to some extent, but I think the reason Trump won by a smaller margin is because of his plans for the wall between Mexico and Texas and the changing demographics. Although Texas is a huge Republican state, I think the only issue that could cause Texas to transform into a swing state is President Trump himself. Let s just start with President Trump s approval rating. According to Svitek (2017) in his article Poll: Trump approval rating underwater in Texas, Trump s approval rating in the Republican state of Texas is only 42 percent while disapproval is 54 percent. Like I mentioned earlier, I believe this is due to the egregious things that come out of his mouth. The problem that falls into Texas lap is the large population of of Hispanics combined with having Trump as our President. According to Anderson (2016) in his article Lone Star Uprising, In 2010, for example, half of all children under 5 years old were Hispanic, versus only 20 percent of people over 65 years old. Analysis Of The Movie The Graduate Essay Edward Brambila English 2 Prof. Sosner 12/16/2016 The Art of Symbolism in The Graduate The movie The Graduate is a struggle story of a fine caliber that falls under the genre of comedic drama. Some might even argue that it was one of the best films of its time and even till this day. The way the movie blends characters is anything but superficial and its use of symbolism to describe said characters leaves little more to be desired. While some may not like the movie and say it falls short the movie has proper use of symbolism through the use of multiple props, it also uses symbolic statements as a way to strengthen Dustin Hoffman s character s archetype and clue in on specific details which in turn shows us the relationships between him and other characters. Of the many symbolic details the first two we encounter at the very beginning of the film are cluing us in on the character of Dustin Hoffman who is known as Benjamin Braddock. The two details happen almost simultaneously, one being the song The Sound of Silence by Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel and the other is the symbolic action of him sliding across the screen on an airport conveyor belt. The first detail, the song, suggests that the character Benjamin or Ben is lost in the world. He has no idea where to go from this point in his life forward. He is lost in the darkness of life and is directionless. The second detail is the conveyor belt which forcibly moving him along. This conveys the fact that throughout ... Although sufficient in describing the four differencing administration styles, controller, competitor, creator and the clan leader, this framework limits itself by conflicting each value as independently working against one another instead of encompassing a wraparound approach as used in Public Health, seen in (appendix A) where more fluid dynamics interplay in both the internal and external aspects of the agency providing for more client centered, population focused, community based services through well matched system approaches. Analysis Of House Of The Seven Gables Essay Evil within the Portraits The traditional Gothic taste for portraits is frequent in many novels and short stories that follow the conventions of literary mode making it present in these both texts; House of the Seven Gables by Hawthorne and Edgar Allen Poe s The Oval Portrait. Often the characters in such Gothic romances are haunted by the tyranny of the past, which make it inescapable. It often leads to the destruction of their loved ones. Others motive of escape is often pulled back by a curse that the character creates upon himself. According to The Art of Terror by Maria Antonia Lima she says, These portraits are usually a source of terror, with the past presented as something alive, like a ghost that haunts the present with its terrible mystery. Many authors consider this kind of literature itself as an example of modern art because it can become an anti realist protest and a rebellion of the imagination against the reduction of fiction to the analysis of contemporary habits (Lima 80). When consideration is given to the status of philosophy in Greece at the end of the fifth century BCE, such a defense seems unnecessary and, at the same time, difficult. This is because ancient Greece provides us with the origins of philosophy, and yet this particular period in history serves as a good demonstration of the public s general distaste for and persecution of it. Several philosophers, including Pythagoras, Anaxagoras, and Protagoras, were ridiculed and attacked for their beliefs. Socrates believes that the entire philosophical endeavor is a preparation for death and that the true philosopher looks forward to dying. His students, however, cannot understand why the philosopher should want to die, and Socrates hopes to dispel their fears of death while bringing them to an awareness of a figurative death where desires cease to control the soul . In addition to noticing the figurative nature of death, he also wants them to give further consideration to the literal death as well. The distinction between these two types of death, figurative and literal, creates two possible avenues for the philosophical life. Socrates defines death as the release of the soul from the body . This definition implies both a view of death as placing distance between the soul and the body during this life and a complete separation at the moment of death. The responsibility of the philosopher is to seek liberation here in this life and, in so doing, to prepare for the afterlife, as preparation for both the literal and figurative deaths coalesce into a single activity. Evidently, Greek heroes like Oedipusare destined to rule, but are also bound to fall, therefore, he cannot alter his own fate. This tragic play proves that the power of fate is indeed stronger than one s free will. Despite his attempts to fight his destiny, Oedipus can never outrun his fate. Fossil fuels remain the dominant source of energy powering the world economy, supplying 60% of the energy increase out to 2035. Within that, gas looks set to become the fastest growing fossil fuel, spurred on by ample supplies and supportive environmental policies. 1.1 BACKGROUND From the advert of the modern oil and gas industry, petroleum geologists and engineers have followed a conventional route for exploration; look for hydrocarbon source rocks, find reservoir quality rocks where hydrocarbons can accumulate, identify a trapping mechanism and then drill a well. Mark Oppenheimer shares a similar points of view in his article where he discussed his opinion, that grade inflation is one of the much lesser issues and that we need to be focusing on other things.(other things, just quote his article). His ideas are countered by the ideas of people such as Rojstaczer who argue that grade inflation is becoming an out of control issue that needs to be fixed (add in quotes from the book and article) In the past colleges like Princeton and Wellesley have tried to adopt policies to help curb grade inflation. Even though it lowered the percentages of high grades, effectively lowering the amount of grade inflation, it came with the cost of unforeseen consequences that affected the students and staff. • 29. Essay about Reviving Psychophysical Supervenience Reviving Psychophysical Supervenience ABSTRACT: Many philosophers have lost their enthusiasm for the concept of supervenience in the philosophy of mind. This is largely due to the fact that, as Jaegwon Kim has shown, familiar versions of supervenience describe relations of mere property covariation without capturing the idea of dependence. Since the dependence of the mental on the physical is a necessary requirement for even the weakest version of physicalism, it would seem that existing forms of supervenience cannot achieve that for which they were designed. My aim is to revive the concept of supervenience. I argue that if we construe supervenience along Davidsonian lines as a relation connecting predicates rather than properties ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In light of this, many have lost their enthusiasm for this idea. My goal in this paper is to renew our faith in supervenience. To do so, however, will not require the development of a new formulation of the concept; instead, it involves clearing up some misconceptions about an existing version of this relation. I refer to Davidson s original treatment of supervenience. Most have assumed that Davidson s brand of supervenience is equivalent to Kim s weak supervenience, which is too weak to express dependence. I will argue that Davidson s conception of supervenience is, despite certain formal similarities, quite different from Kim s and clearly captures a sense of psychophysical dependence that is of use to forms of physicalism. As I see it, the difference between Kim s approach and Davidson s lies in the items supervenience is thought to connect. Kim s formulations of supervenience connect properties, which he takes to be the ontological building blocks of events. In general then, Kim treats supervenience as a metaphysical thesis about the distribution of properties in possible worlds. By contrast, Davidson has little tolerance for the idea that events should be analyzed in terms of property exemplifications. Given Davidson s reluctance to endorse properties, he prefers to think of supervenience as a relation between ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. Revolutionary War A Just War Analysis Have you ever wondered if the beginning of the United Sates was based off of a just war? Saint Augustine, a renowned Christian theologian and philosopher, addressed the idea of a just war during the time of the Roman Empire. Augustine is well known for his book City of God in which he first introduces his standards of a just war. These standards must be met for a war to be classified as just. This new concept that war could be approved by God and used for good revolutionized the way Christians viewed war. Although written hundreds of years ago, these standards have truly stood the test of time because they are still referred to today. Based on Augustine s standards, The Revolutionary War can be argued as a just war because there was a just ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, war has changed significantly over the past few decades. America should tighten their standards of war so that we are only involved in wars hat directly threaten our national security. This would result in America taking part in far fewer conflicts which would save money and resources, reduce the number of unnecessary lives lost, and reduce the hatred of America in many countries. Tightening the standards would insure that future wars are fought for the protection of our country, but not for spreading democracy or nation building. America has continuously meddled in other countries affairs, which has led to a growing anger and resentment of America in those countries. Reducing anger towards America becomes even more important since our country now has a relatively open immigration policy which has allowed immigrants from countries into America. Without knowing who these immigrants are or what their intentions are, our country becomes more susceptible to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. Historical Analysis, Discourse, And Frame Analysis By using a mixed set of methodological methods that includes statistical analysis, historical analysis, discourse analysis, and frame analysis techniques, Beckett is able to paint a broad picture of her argument. Her use of polls and surveys demonstrates that the traditional link between public opinion and the tough on crimepolicies that led to mass incarceration is problematic. Her historical analysis traces the historical development of these policies highlighting the various players and actors operating and struggling for power. Finally, her discourse and frame analysis demonstrates the ways in which elites were able to utilize mass media to create a specific frame and discourse surrounding criminal behavior that played on racial fears and anxieties and helped push their agenda, whether it be increased incarceration or simply winning elections. Valocchi seems dismissive of the ability of these methods to perform queer analysis. As he points out, Quantitative, variable based methodologies, by contrast, assume that the indicators used to measure social processes do indeed capture something real and objective (2005:767). He implies that non ethnographic methods have built in assumptions that their classification systems perfectly portray practices and motivations of those within those systems. What he fails to consider is that these methods can be used for the very purpose of highlighting these inconsistencies. The dominant ideology of criminal justice is that crime ... • 34. Jackson And Andrew Jackson Andrew Jackson acted more as King Andrew who incited mob rule rather than the man of the people which he claimed to be. Andrew Jackson disagreed with different government systems, moved his friends and allies into the cabinet, and closed the national bank which proved that Andrew Jackson knew how he wanted to change the course of America and took less interest in pubic opinion. Andrew Jacksonacted as more of a king than a president. Jackson did not serve for the people of America, Jackson served to change America how he believe it should be run. The epidermis is made of five separate layers: the stratum basale, stratum spinosum, stratum granulosum, stratum lucidum, and the stratum corneum.
