The Problem Of The Homelessness Epidemic
Jacob Setton
How to end Homelessness in D.C.?
The chasm between the law and, the law as applied in practice is vast. The law provides funding for
homeless people, but this often leads to discrimination because it is so difficult to gain access to these
funds. Roscoe Pound, one of the most cited legal scholars of the 20th century, points out how the laws
on the street too often differ from the laws on the books and result in discrimination. Homeless people
suffer from government bureaucracy that makes it almost impossible for a homeless person to
successfully receive aid without help from others. The application process for applying for aid is both
strenuous and difficult, that requires a level of literacy skills and legal expertise that would likely
preclude an otherwise healthy person from becoming homeless in the first place. In order to fix this
injustice, experiments in the field of healthcare and government policy, must be applied to help the
homeless in our community in D.C.. To solve the homelessness epidemic, we need to expand
collaborations between institutions that already exist in D.C.to help the homeless and create a housing
first plan that provides both rapid housing for the temporarily homeless and permanent supportive
housing for those who are chronically homeless. This policy change may seem intuitive give homeless
people housing , however detractors argue that it is a naive approach to a complex issue that also costs
too much.

Define The Two Standards Of School Lunches
The School Food Trust was commissioned in 2005 to give advice ministers on standards for food in
schools However, these standards will relate to school lunches as well as other food provided in all
local authority maintained schools in England. There are two sets of standards for school lunches
which are food based which will define the types of food that children and young people should be
offered in a school lunch and the frequency with which they are offered and nutrient based which will
set out the proportions of nutrients that children and young people should receive from a school lunch.
The government has also decided that similar standards should apply to all school food other than
lunches as recommended by the SFT. This means that no

How Did African American Music Influence Jamaica
Relative to its size, population and economic standing in the international arena, Jamaica is arguably
the most influential nation as it relates to the propagation of music internationally. Jamaican music,
primary roots reggae and dancehall can be heard on every continent in the world. Like most of the
Caribbean islands, Jamaican music is influenced by its African influence through the presence of the
institution of slavery on the island, that of the European colonizer and to some extent the Indians who
were brought to the island during the indentureship period.
African Influence

plantations and settled in the mountains of the island. There they kept ... Show more content on

Revival/pocomania An afro protestant religion developed in Jamaican and the music associated with
it. Pocomania music has tremendous influence on both reggae and dancehall music.
Reggae Developed from the late 60s and was in its heyday during the 1970s. The music developed
from ska (the first truly indigenous Jamaican music) which was then tempered down to rock steady in
an effort to focus on calm and consciousness. Among the greatest performers of the art form is The
Wailers which was made up of Bob Marley, Bunny Wailer and Peter Tosh. The music became
synonymous with the rise off the Rastafarian movement and was used to promote the movement.
Dancehall Music A Jamaican style of music which arose out of reggae in the early 1980s and is still
popular today. Though the music grew of reggae as a style it was very different. Whereas reggae s
lyrics is based on consciousness, positivity and peace, dancehall through its lyrics perpetuated
slackness, gangster, guns and violence. Dancehall music was also considered to be artificial and
manufactured as it was computer based unlike reggae which was considered natural and produced live

Tragic Heroes, By Sophocles, William Shakespeare, And...
It is very easy to fall in love with the hero. The nobleman who commits no wrong, saves the day, and
usually looks good doing it. But the best characters aren t thoroughly perfect and selfless like we
would like them to be, because in the end, that s not real life. The best, most relatable characters are
those in which we can associate, abhor, and admire all at the same time. Sophocles, William
Shakespeare, and Arthur Miller were able to capture this character in the tragic hero. A character who,
despite their human nature, ends up destroying themselves because of their own faults. Though these
three playwrights display the tragic model in different ways, they all come back to point out the flaws
in human nature through five stages; nobility, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As radium continued to increase in popularity, more uses for the material emerged. The U.S. Radium
Corporation began making big money on having their workers paint watch dials with radium
luminescent paint known as Undark. Not only were these watches practical for everyday life, they
were also helpful with the war effort and provided young women with jobs to help support their
families with. The factories were clean and well lit, and the girls were paid 8 cents a dial and could
earn as much as $24 a day. However as these girls were painting their 300 dials a day, people didn t
seem to notice that the average painter consumed approximately 4,000 micrograms of radium in six
months , as they pointed the tips of their brushes on their lips to get a better point (Moss). The
hamartia never truly became apparent to anyone until girls such as Amelia Maggia started developing
the symptoms of radiation poisoning. For most girls it started with tooth decay, so The dentist would
remove the rotten teeth, already practically falling out of the girls mouths, but the gums wouldn t heal.
Instead, agonising ulcers sprouted in the holes left behind. Very often their jawbones crumbled to the
touch (Fergusson). However, instead of looking for answers in these never before seen medical
ailments, Amelia Maggia s death was reported as syphilis. This left radium and the U.S. Radium
Corporation unblemished, but instead brought humiliation to the families of the innocent girls like
Amelia. As we see the radiation begin to poison more and more unknowing citizens, it becomes clear
that it is those side effects that act as the equivalent of the hamartia in the tragic model, as it takes
control of the entire element just as ambition took full control of Macbeth without him realizing

Political Parties And The Republican Party Platform
Generally speaking, anyone who lives in the United States of America knows that there are two main
political parties the Republicans and the Democrats. Having two main parties has its advantages and,
of course, its disadvantages. For example, in By the People James E. Monroe and Rogan Kersh (301)
point out having this type of system creates predictability and stability. However, they also declare
(301) it can lead to a gridlock. This is not a new concept either as there has been a divide since the
beginning of both parties. The two parties more often than not disagree on various issues, while rarely
agreeing on what is best for the country.
Democrats and Republicans highly differ when comparing views on climate change. The Democrats
accept human role in climate change while many Republicans question if climate change is even real.
In the 2016 Democratic Party Platform (27), they state in the first 100 days of the next administration,
the president will convene a summit of the words best engineers, climate scientists, policy experts,
activists, and indigenous communities to chart a course to solve the climate crisis. This is highlighted
previously when President Obama, a Democrat, traveled to Paris for a convention about climate
change where he met other leaders around the world to make a plan to help fix the issues surrounding
climate change. This shows the basic principles of the Democratic Party as internationalist and having
the large government as it states in the

My Experience At A Catholic Wedding
Have you ever felt so out of place at an event? This is how I felt when attending a friend s Catholic
wedding. I have attended many weddings; on the other hand, this was completely different than the
standard wedding I imagined. The setting of the church, the discipline the Catholics have with their
religion, and the wedding ceremony was nothing I imagined when being invited to this wedding.
September 23 has always been a day I marked on my calendar every year. This was my wife s and I
anniversary; however, this year I had it marked down for a different event. This was the day a friend
from my previous work was getting married. We discussed his Catholic belief a few times at work;
consequently, when it was time for lent. As a result, I would pick on him for eating meat when he was
not aloud, but that was all I really knew about the religion. The night before the big day I called him,
because not knowing much about the Catholic wedding, I did not know what to wear. I did not know if
I had to wear a suit or if I could wear khakis and a polo shirt. So, he told me khakis would work with a
nice dress shirt. When Saturday came, I did not know I would feel confused or fell as out of place as I
did. However, on the way to the church I figured this would be the typical wedding, where they would
say their vows and the preacher would say you may kiss the bride , then I could make it home to
watch the end of the buckeye s game. Nevertheless, this is not how the wedding would go.

O.J. Simpson and the Trial of the Century Essay examples
The OJ Simpson case has been hailed The Trial of the Century. One of the longest running court trials
in history, this case was filled with conspiracy, controversy, and the power of celebrity. The biggest
part of the trial was the evidence. The submission of the blood samples, the DNA testing, and the
articles of clothing made the case what it was. Amidst all the accusations of planted evidence and
conspiracy plans against Simpson, the jury and Judge Ito had to try to sift through and find Simpson
guilty or not guilty. On June 12, 1994 Nicole Brown and Ronald Goldman were brutally murdered
with what appeared to be a single edged sharp weapon, most likely a knife. Nicole Brown was the ex

leading police on a 60 mile low speed chase down the highways of southern Los Angeles in his friend

complicated. This was when the police knew this would not be just any murder case. This was OJ
Simpson, the famous football player, this would be complicated. Their only hope of conviction was
the evidence that would place him as the murderer. Their first set of evidence, and possibly the best
part of attaching the three to each other that night, was the blood. There were approximately 22
submissions of blood evidence found at the Bundy Condo (murder scene), Rockingham (Simpson s
residence), and in the Bronco (Simpson s vehicle). All of which were a match to either Brown,
Goldman, Simpson, or a mixture of the three. All figures of the blood samples were found in the
testimonies of Dr. Robin Cotton, laboratory director at Cellmark Diagnostics Inc. and Gary Sims,
senior criminalist with the California Department of Justice DNA laboratory (Toobin). At the Bundy
crime scene police found the bodies, Brown s, amassed in a pool of blood bigger than her body, and
Goldman s, his shirt pulled over his head as if to keep him from helping Brown. Of the nine blood
samples found on the property six were a match to

The article starts out by mentioning that throughout the city of New Orleans you will find that Teach
for America alumni hold high job positions in Louisianan s educational system. Examples of a few of
these positions include the superintendent of the Recovery District and a state school board members.
It goes on to explain that the people of New Orleans are asking controversial questions about Teach
for America that the organization has been dealing with since it was founded. Some of these questions
are: do its recruits continue working as teachers after their two year commitment ends? Are their
members prepared enough to handle inner city children and the unique challenges they face? And

playing three chords on a guitar. I guess, this explains why Tay Tay was born to string and sing .
2. Know the background of her first name Taylor? One fine day, it was her mother Andrea who came
up with (and coined) the first name Taylor after the singer James Taylor. Why did she do that, you may
ask? Andrea the mother of Taylor Swift thought it to be a gender neutral name which would get her
daughter the success and recognition in life. This wish was granted and fulfilled by Almighty. As a

Installing A High Price Tag
It s said that bathrooms and kitchens are what sell houses. This is in large part because renovations on
these rooms carry a higher price tag. Whether fixing up a kitchen to improve the sale price of a home
or remodeling to meet personal tastes, some smart shopping has the potential to save thousands while
still creating a high end look. Odd Lots and Closeouts As home décor trends change, companies who
manufacture everything from light fixtures to floor tiles discontinue some merchandise to make way
for newer styles. Shopping for clearance prices on closeout items may garner savings of 75% or more
off of retail prices. Keep in mind that discontinued items are available in limited quantities. When
purchasing items such as wall coverings or floor coverings, take accurate measurements and be sure to
purchase enough to finish the entire job. Also remember that sales on discontinued items are often
final, so avoid purchasing in excess. As with fashion, home décor lines usually introduce new styles in
the spring and fall. These time of year are prime times for closeout shopping. However, many home
improvement stores change their inventory throughout the year, marking items at clearance prices to
clear out shelf space for other products. Shopping frequently at many different stores will likely turn
up a wider array of products at the bet possible prices. Slightly Irregular Merchandise Companies that
sell high end merchandise put all products through rigorous quality control

Symptoms And Treatments Of Sleep Apnea
Hypothesis:
Individuals experiencing stress are more likely to develop sleep apnea.
My Initial Hypothesis
Through our discussion in class over sleep disorders, we have discussed all different types of
disorders, which lead to an interesting one called sleep apnea. In lecture, I have learned that sleep
apnea can take a toll on the people it affects, and can make a difference in the way one lives. Sleep
disorders make us understand how complex and interesting the brain can be. Sleep disorders can be
caused by a variety of reasons, but one of the leading reasons I believe that causes sleep apnea is
stress.
My Empirical Evidence
Most cases of sleep apnea are linked to stress, but the stress in sleep apnea can also lead to other
medical problems such as an increased risk for cardiovascular consequences. It has been tested and
proven that smoking and diabetes were also a large factor in the disorder of sleep apnea (Simiakakis
M et al., 2012). Some studies have shown differences between cardiovascular disease and stress
(Greenlund et al. 1995; Riese et al. 2000; Heslop et al. 2002a,b; Belkic et al. 2004). It is a terrifying
fear to think that so many medical diseases can lead to the cause of a sleep disorder. It s like most of
the time with people one part of their body messes up, and it leads to something else. It s an eye
opener to realize that this sleep disorder can be caused by many health related problems, and not just
stress.
Others say that sleep apnea is related

Discriminatory About Prejudice
According to Merriam Webster Dictionary, the definition of prejudice is a preconceived judgment or
opinion; an adverse opinion or leaning formed without just grounds or before sufficient knowledge .
According to Paula S. Rothenberg s Race, Class, and Gender in the United States, it seems as
prejudice is practiced both intentionally and unintentionally, whether the person is discriminatory or
not. For example, growing up as a child, my friend and I were enrolled in a bilingual studies course
during our 5th grade year because we were Hispanics . Although we both coincidentally spoke fluent
Spanish, the point of the class was to teach a child to speak English, which happened to be my main
language. I believe this example was an unintentional

Suburban Sonnet by Gwen Harwood Essay
Poetry is an art form that has been used to express certain messages or beliefs, and can potentially
change a reader s view on a subject. Suburban Sonnet, written by Gwen Harwood has a lot of social
commentary and is speaking to you about a lot of things that it feels are important. It is looking to
make a lot of points about Australian society and the sacrifice of having children and of living a
suburban lifestyle. Gwen Harwood s Suburban Sonnet is a fourteen line poem with strong values of
urban Australia. The poem, Suburban Sonnet, idealizes the harsh realities of an Australian housewife,
creating sympathetic tones to the readers. Gwen Harwood was born in Brisbane, Queensland in 1920.

For example, children chatter, children caper, screamed and yawned. Personification is used to
contrast an object to the Australian housewives emotions. Seen in the line A pot boils over. As she
rushes to the stove too late, a wave of nausea overpowers, (stanza one, line four). The mood of the
poem is very dull and presents a negative connotation. Constant imagery is used to paint this theme
into the readers head, The children caper round a sprung mousetrap where a mouse lies dead. When
the soft corpse won t move they seem afraid, (stanza one, line ten). Symbolisation is also used to
counteract the miserable life of an Australian housewife. This can be seen in the line She practises a
fugue, though it can matter to no one now if she plays well or not, (stanza one, line one). This line
suggests that the woman portrayed is a musician. The poem latter reads, Once she played for
Rubinstein, who yawned, (stanza one, line nine). This suggests she was talented enough to present to
Rubenstein but didn t succeed. The children caper, round a sprung mousetrap where a mouse lies dead.
This line symbolizes the housewife. Her dreams of becoming a musician are trapped within her own
environment. This same line can also evaluate the difficulties and harshness of the urban Australian
life. Seeming sad this is something that is exciting to the children. The rhyming scheme uses irregular
couplets such as matter and chatter on different lines. This

The Propaganda Model Of The Mass Media
Throughout society, the mass media constantly changes over time. The mass media play a prominent
role in informing the public about what occurs within the world, especially in areas which audiences
do not acquire direct experience and knowledge. This essay will argue that the propaganda model is
no longer valid as it has become outdated. This essay will also discuss the model in relation to the five
filters and draw on Rampton s critique of the propaganda model in contemporary society.
The propaganda model was developed by Edward Herman and Noam Chomsky in 1988. The
propaganda model was published in the book of Manufacturing Consent, sought to provide an
analytical framework that attempts to explain the behavioral and performance of the mass media in the
United States (Herman, 2000). Herman and Chomsky (2002) argued that the propaganda model
contains five filters which determine what is news . The first filter is the size, ownership, and profit
orientation of the media, which refers to the cooperation between the mainstream media and the large
conglomerate. The second filter is advertising, which refers to the mass media using advertising as the
central source of income. The third filter is sourcing, which refers to the mass media dependency of
information from the government, business and experts. The fourth filter is flak , which refers to the
negative response that discipline the media. The fifth filter is anti communism, which refers to the
control mechanism of the

Vampires vs Werewolves

Creatures of the Night
There are two creatures or monsters that are known to lurk in the shadows; Vampires and werewolves.
Over centuries there has been a huge debate as to which one is superior. Vampires and werewolves
have always fought each other from the beginning as born enemies. Some say the werewolves are
superior because they are stronger and others say the vampires are superior because they are smarter.
It comes down to brawn versus brains. For me the answer is obvious; at the end of it all it is the
vampires who rule over everything that goes bump in the night.
Don t get me wrong I respect all monsters. While I do believe vampires have a total advantage over
werewolves there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also with the transformation comes a lot of pain and loss of memory. Most of the time they do not
remember what they did while being a Werewolf and they tend to cause a lot of collateral damage and
great death of causalities; Which is only if they even survive their first time turning into a true
werewolf.
Vampires, however, control their causalities very well which is one of many reasons why they are
superior. In fact, vampires have very strong handle of things when it comes to surviving; as long as
they maintain a healthy diet vampires have the world at their fingertips. Vampires even possess the gift
of seduction and mind control. They can basically tell any human what to do, when to do it, and how
they want them to do it. This ability makes humans easy prey and in turn helps vampires maintain a
healthy diet. Another one of their greatest advantages is they have their full strength all the time.
Vampires are known for their strength to tear humans apart or crush anything that may get in their
way. They don t require any special time of the month to use their powers. Not only do vampires have
their strength but like the werewolf, vampires also have keen senses too; sight, smell, and hearing.
Their senses do not reach as far as werewolves but they do supersede humans, and that s really all they
concern themselves with. Also vampires also have speed like the werewolf and there is much debate
as to which is

Ethical Issues In Supersize Me
Introduction Super Size Me is a documentary film that focuses on the effects of fast food, McDonald s
in particular, to the human body in terms of physiological and psychological aspects. The film is
directed, produced, and starred by Morgan Spurlock whom investigated and experimented on himself
by eating McDonald s every meal, every day, for 30 days. Spurlock, who in the beginning was a
particularly healthy middle aged man, began experiencing weight gain, addiction, depression, mood
swings, sexual dysfunction, liver damage, and other health related issues. During the 30 day period,
Spurlock must: 1. eat three McDonald s meals a day; 2. sample/eat every item on the McDonald s
menu at least once; 3. not purchase anything, not found on the menu; 4. super size his meal whenever
the opportunity is presented. Also, as much as possible, he must try not to walk exceedingly past 2,500
steps per day, which is the average step per day for an American at that time. This extreme diet was

Reflection Of The Fight On Human Rights And Reproductive...
I first really recognized the fight for social justice on June 25, 2013. This was the day Wendy Davis
defended reproductive rights at the Texas Capitol for 13 hours. I grew up in a politically active
climate, but watching a livestream of the Texas Legislature that night had more of an effect on me than
anything I had done or witnessed before. I am interested in the Bridging Disciplines Program s Human
Rights and Social Justice certificate because from that night on I have become aware of the incredible
amount of injustice in the world. For a little while, I wanted to be a public official like Wendy Davis.
However, after I started taking classes at UT, I immediately became interested in court cases.
Especially, I loved the class Supreme Court and Public Policy. It struck me that most human rights
victories came from the courts rather than the legislature. Just three years after the filibuster, this
proved true to me yet again when the Supreme Court declared unconstitutional the law Wendy Davis
had attempted to block. The Senators and by extension the Texas voters couldn t stop this injustice, but
the courts did.
By completing this certificate, I hope to learn about different human rights movements from across the
world. I will look to answer why certain movements succeeded and certain movements have failed or
are still in progress. While I don t plan on specializing in a strand due to the limited time I have to
complete this certificate, I am most interested in the Theory,

The International Criminal Court ( Icc )
Introduction: The international criminal court (ICC) is an unalike international organization, as it deals
with individuals of the state parties and non state parties both. The Court among its wide prospects
prosecutes individuals, accepts communications and complaints from them, and also allows for an
independent official to initiate prosecution. But, independent officials in international organizations
always have a controversial position given the fact that they have autonomy and authority to act
independently creating a probable threat to the national sovereignty of the member nations. In
addition, here the statute also had the proposal to keep the court under the purview of a political
institution (Security Council) which was also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So, after serious discussions, criticism, and alterations the proprio motu power in the end must
required a pre authorization from the Trial Chambers and was also subjected to a judicial review.
Therefore, the court since its existence from 2002 could only open investigation against seven
countries so far namely; the Democratic Republican of Congo (DRC), Uganda, the Central African
Republic (CAR), Sudan, Kenya, Libya, and Cote d Ivoire. Even when in the initial 4 years of the
court, it was cluttered with 1,732 communications from 132 countries related to situations in 139
countries. The DRC was the first country against which the prosecutor used his proprio motu powers
to initiate an investigation, although DRC then referred itself to the court. Seven years later, the

Purgative medicines are cheap in cost but children dislike the taste because of its bitterness. The
researchers came up with this project due to the desire of helping the parents of infected children in
convincing their kids to take good tasting purgative remedy that is cheaper in cost and can be done at
home. The researchers found out that pounded and boiled akapulko seeds are used as an effective
purgative agent. Akapulko is an herbal plant that can be used in curing skin, stomach, lung, and mouth
problems, and is well known for its sudorific, diuretic and purgative characteristics. It can be ingested
without having any side effect or contraindications. The researchers thought of pulvoron, being a
healthy, delicious, and attractive treat for all. The akapulko seeds were consider as extender in place of
the traditional rice crisps, nuts, or nougats in the pulvoron. Established that akapulvoron could be an

Taking a Look at the TPS Mechanism
TPS MECHANISM
Social infrastructure is mostly done at neighborhood level. Earlier it was done through land
reservation through land acquisition, but in that process increases the financial burden on ULBs. There
was also difficulties in procurement of land. So now a days ULBs are practicing the development by
keeping the flow on market hands. However there are some cases for development of city level
infrastructure through TPS mechanism. They are here taken as case studies.
After 1980 peripheral areas of Ahmedabad have been expanding rapidly. There was a huge
differentiation between population within the city limit area and the outer peripheral area because the
saturation of population within the city area and the subsequent large scale housing development in
the fringe areas. Haphazard development took place because of absence of proper infrastructure and
road network. The development in outer areas is expected to accelerate further as Ahmedabad has
become a mega city. And due to this reason, the Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority has
proposed additional 64 sq. km of urbanizable land over the next ten years in the revised development
plan (2011). The expected population is expected to reach 46 lakhs and 60 lakhs in the former
Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) and AUDA as per the proposed plan with in a period of 10
years. Therefore it was important to ensure planned growth with good road network and infrastructure
facilities in the developing areas of the city. (TOI)

Olde English liquor is a malt liquor brand produced by Miller Products that was established in 1964.
Malt liquor is a strong lager or ale in which sugar, corn or other aides are added to the malted barley to

Battle Of San Jacinto Battle Analysis
The Battle of San Jacinto is an interesting event for evaluation through battle analysis. Although
fought between the independent country of Texas and Mexico, it has been adopted into the psyche of
U.S. History as a major battle that has a significant contribution to the general history of the U.S.
Much like the Alamo, the Battle of San Jacinto relied heavily on imported forces from varying places
throughout the U.S. to supplement Texas troops, making the interwoven nature of the Texas battle in
U.S. history logical. The Battle of San Jacinto has been selected for a battle analysis due to its
prominence in U.S. history, but also because of a heightened level of bias that often appears in the re

moral character. In literature it is a recurring pattern that the most outstanding characters are ones with
enduring integrity. The novel featured has made a unique mark on modern literature. Its author,

whereas reality is not so ideal. Radio Host: And sadly so. Now what about the title, the Alchemist , do
you think it was titled to represent the character s importance or does it have a symbolic meaning?
Speaker: I personal don t think the Alchemist was titled solely because of the character. The Alchemist
is an ancillary annselary character in the book, but the emphasis of the title is the symbolic meaning of
alchemy transforming one element to another of more value. It represents the process of purifying one
s character, to eliminate the bad, leaving the final result of a person with integrity. Radio Host:
Integrity really is a prominent quality in many characters in the novel. It s what makes Santiago such
an intriguing character, and you witness his development as the book progresses. Did he waver in his
integrity at any point? Speaker: Generally, any good character with depth in personality will face some
sort of opposition that leaves them a bit dumbfounded causing them to doubt their instinct. I d say the
first major conflict that Santiago faced was the incident where he misplaced trust and was robbed of
all his gold. At this point he gave up hope, and took on the notion that his dreams were distant and
unachievable. Even after he was able to continue his quest, the fear of failure made him hesitant.

Community Service As Punishment
Community service constitute an apologetic reparation that the person is now required to make to the
community what he has wronged. The Indian Penal Code was the enacted in 1860 by virtue of the
classic legal draftsmanship of Lord Macaulay. If there would have been a concept of community
service prevalent at that time then the authors are sure that there would have been no need to urge the
inclusion of the same in the Indian Penal Code. But since this exclusion by Macaulay is because of no
fault of his it is our duty to incorporate such to meet the demands of the time and to make the IPC a
living social document. Section 53 of the IPC [2] provides for the various types of punishments. But

Community Service Scheme has also been started in one state i.e. Gujarat and it is an alternate for

Sun And Appropriate Hypothesis
Abstract
This experiment is useful since it indicates how sunlight, one of the environmental factors affect
plants. The effects of sun and shade on stomata density of Tsuga heterophylla plant were investigated.
The dependent variable was stomata density, and the independent variable was sunlight (sun and
shade). The stomata impressions were made by using the nail polish to inscribe the stomata on the
leaves bottom. The imprint was applied in the calculation of leaf stomata density. A t test was used to
compare the results between two variables (sun and shade). A significant difference of stomata density
was observed between the leaves in the sun and shade. The leaves in the sun had the highest stomata
density than the leaves in the shade.

How sun and shade affect the stomata density. The following questions were asked;( 1) can sun
increase the stomata density? (2) Can shade increase stomata density? (3) Is it true that both shade and

than in the shade. In this experiment, one plant species (Tsuga heterophylla) was assessed. Tsuga
heterophylla is an evergreen coniferous plant.
Methods
Site description
Tsuga heterophylla was collected from Tongass National Forest. Tongass National Forest is located in
Southwest Alaska in the United States of America. It is the largest national forest in the USA. The
forest is part of temperate and Pacific rain forest. The experiment was performed at this site between
9.00am to 4.00pm.
Field sampling
Twelve of Tsuga heterophylla plants from sun and shade were collected. Compass was used to
determine west and east; this was conducted to find the sunlight path to determine whether there were
objects blocking sunlight from reaching the plant leaves. Two light meters were used to measure shade
and sun leaves.

National Health And Nutrition Examination Survey
It is important to gather data regarding the risk, number or people affected and morality pertaining to
cardiovascular disease. Different surveillance methods are used to obtain reporting information
regarding CVD. This information is beneficial to physicians, health care providers, and people in the

Symbolism Of Desire In Tennessee WilliamsA Streetcar Named...
Throughout the play, A Streetcar Named Desire, the streetcar serves as the main symbol in an attempt
to define Blanche s journey. Blanch comes from Belle Reve. On her journey to New Orleans, she has
quite a few car changes. They told me to take a streetcar named Desire, and then transfer to one called
Cemeteries and ride six blocks and get off at Elysian Fields! (Williams 6) Although her exact route is
not continuously brought up throughout the text, it has a greater purpose that if not evaluated, can
often get overlooked. Desire is defined by dictionary.com as to wish or long for; crave; want. The
streetcar throughout the text symbolizes Blanches journey of desiring to start over, hence why she gets
on a streetcar named desire to get there. The author, Tennessee Williams is trying to show the deeper
meaning behind her wanting to move on from her past by using this example and many others. Every
girl loves baths or showers or some way of getting clean. The same way that women love being clean
and smelling pretty, everyone has a thing that comforts them. These comforting things can be objects,
people, thoughts, ideas, actions, dreams, etc. For Blanche, one of her comforts is baths. Williams uses
bats a lot to show what she does in her free time. He attempts to get the point across that she is
continuously taking baths to try and erase her past. Throughout the play, we find out everything that
Blanche has been through and everything slowly starts making sense as to why she feels the need to
erase her past. After going through her husband being unfaithful, she felt unworthy to be with him or
anyone else, not to mention her husband s suicide. Blanche blamed herself for her husband suicide.
After finding him with another man, she told him that he disgusted her, and his suicide followed those
words. This tore her apart, as it should. Everyone has a past or portion of it that they wish to erase. For
Blanche, she wishes she could erase her husband s suicide which is the significance of the long,
frequent baths. Another symbol Mr. Williams uses is Blanche s obsession with light. She described her
love for her young, belated husband as a blinding light .

The Aircraft Manufacturing Industry During World War II
During World War II, the aircraft manufacturing industry took off. According to Dr. Bright (1978), by
the year 1944 it was the largest industry in America (p. 1). It soon declined in the years following due
to material flaws, lack in engine performance, and production manufacturing methods. One
contributing factor was metal fatigue, this occurs when metal parts that undergo many repeated strains
eventually fail at a loading far below their original ultimate strength , Garrison (2005) (p. 1).
Manufacturers at the time primarily used aluminum and steel, because of their overall strength and
how readily they were available. What engineers did not consider was the abuse the airframes would
take over time. This factor went overlooked, resulting in numerous crashes with fatalities. Although
cheaper to manufacture, piston type airplane engines require more maintenance than that of their jet
engine counterparts. In fact, a jet engine can go for 3,000 hours while an overhaul for a piston aircraft
is generally 2,000 hours , Piston Engine (2011). This source goes on to compare the average top speed
of a piston engine driven aircraft which is usually around 200 KIAS. This is relatively slow when
compared to the average jet engine that can reach 300 KIAS.
The manufacturing industry took a big hit after the war, Bugos (2001) found that total sales by
American aircraft firms were $16 billion in 1944; by 1947 they were only $1.2 billion, . However,

History Of The Insanity Plea
The insanity plea has been around since 1843 when it was first used in London during the M Naghten
case. The insanity plea made its first appearance in the United States in 1859 after Congressman
Daniel Sickles murdered the man who his wife was having an affair with. However, a more recent and
rather public use of the insanity plea is against James Eagan Holmes. James is being charged with
murder and attempted murder after he maliciously attacked an Aurora Colorado movie theatre in 2012.
James shot and killed 12 people and wounded 70 others. According to one source (2011, Black s Law,

they must have a psychiatric evaluation and prove they were insane during the committing of the
crime. (1965, Psychiatric Justice, Thomas S. Szasz, M.D) If someone pleads not guilty by reason of
insanity, than they undergo mental rehabilitation. The length of time in the mental rehabilitation is
determined by how long it takes the individual to be mentally prepared to re appear in court. After the
individual is fit for re trial, the individual returns to court and will than plead guilty or not guilty. In

Hollywood Studios And The Movie Industry Essay
Many Hollywood studios were prosperous in the international movie industry. These studios improved
American Films and continue to be affluent today.
Hollywood was the birthplace of movie studios, which were of great importance to America s public
image in the movie industry. The earliest and most affluent film companies were Warner Brothers
Pictures, Paramount, RKO, Metro Goldwyn Mayer, and 20th Century Fox, each of whom owned their
own film production sets and studios. Universal, United, and Columbia Pictures were also considered
noteworthy, despite not owning their own theaters, while Disney, Monogram, and Republic were
considered third tier. (History Cooperative)
These studios composed The Big Five , the film studios that controlled Hollywood for over fifty years
and distributed an estimated 90% of Fiction films around the world: Warner Brothers Pictures (WBO),
Paramount, RKO (Radio Keith Orpheum), Metro Goldwyn Mayer (MGM), and 20th Century Fox.
These studios were similar, but they had some unique traits that defined their studios such as MGM s
iconic lion roar introduction and Paramount s greatest stars of the 1920s with Rudolph Valentino,
Mary Pickford, and Douglas Fairbanks. With an enormous public image, these studios managed to
earn millions and improved the film industry in America. Due to the enormous success of The Big
Five , other studios such as Universal, United, and Columbia Pictures were overshadowed and
struggled to persevere in the film industry.

foolear The Wise Fool in Shakespeare s King Lear Essay
The Wise Fool in King Lear
Whether or not the role of the Fool is an important one within King Lear is arguable. Although he
seems to have great insight into much of the plays main events, he seems not to have any real
influence on both the plot as well as the outcome of the play. He remains the sole character who does
not have any direct link with the events of the plot, coupled with an unusually early exit; this raises the
question of his significance. However at the very least he does certainly serve as entertainment not
only for Lear but the audience as well, with his honesty, wittiness, and clever speeches that not only

However, we can see that when the Fool becomes too close to the raw truth Lear will warn him that he
will be whipped if he goes too far. When Lear first warns him with it, he replies:
Truth s a dog, that must to kennel: he must be whipped out, when the Lady Brach may stand by the
fire and stink.
Here the Fool warns Lear that his two daughters will have control over him due to his actions.
Although Lear doesn t want to hear the truth and therefore tries to avoid it, the Fool essentially forces
it out into the open through his speeches. He often uses comedic verses of saying to highlight the point
he is trying to put across. In addition to this, he also provides various rhymes and riddles, taking on
the role of a Chorus as a means of discussing the plays actions in a light hearted yet clearly stating the
essence of what is happening. For example, the following quotation sees the Fool referring to Lear s
actions concerning Cordelia:
...That man makes his toe
What he his heart should make,
Shall of a corn cry woe
And turn his sleep to wake
He refers to the way in which people may drive away those who they should love due to misplaced
affection and that this will ultimately cause a person much grief and sleeplessness. This refers to the
way he reacted when Cordelia failed to flatter him in his `love test. This suggest the Fool to be quite
wise to point this out, however it may be too

During the first years of World War 2, France endured several, life threatening situations, which brings
up the question if the fall of France could or could not have been prevented. For instance, Germany
invaded them and they faced several casualties from the start to 1940. Hence, Germany s attack on the
Ardenne Forest severely weakened the French army. Likewise, Hitler making his troops go to Durik
where the French were also weakened the French army. The fall of France was inevitable because of

Moreover, French had responded to the original attack by putting into operation to advance to the

Additionally, A French force advancing towards Breda, in Holland, was pushed back (The Fall of

The Electric Telegraph Invented By Samuel Morse
One of the earliest inventions of communication was the electric telegraph invented by Samuel Morse.
This device used electrical signals to transmit messages. The telegraph played a significant role in
transmitting messages over long spaces. Its usage was in Law enforcement, army and newspapers.
Even so, anyone could post messages using a telegram via a service. Today, there are roughly three

Telephones are most mutual and are ground in almost every home and organizations. Telephones
worked by using a PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network). This is where copper wires carry an
analogue voice signal. Analogue means a device or organization in which the value of a data point
represented by a continuously varying physical quantity which can be quantified. An example is a
watch that shows time with hands on a dial rather than numbers on an LCD screen. In an analogue
telephone system, the audio signal is converted into electronic pulses. This creates vibrations in the
handset s speaker that can be picked up by the person listening.
Nevertheless, in a digital telephone. The audio signal is converted into binary format. The binary
format consists of groups of 0 s and 1 s. The audio signal is sampled thousands of times a second and

The Normandy Landings were a series of landing operations by Allied forces to capture Normandy
during World War 2. The Normandy Landings were also known to the Allied forces as Operation
Neptune, or D Day. Meanwhile, the operation to gain control of France was named Operation
Overlord. The purpose of Operation Overlord was to seize Western Europe starting with France from
Nazi control and enter Germany together with the Soviet forces from Eastern Europe to end the Nazi

In the end, the Allies had approx. 10,000 causalities as opposed to the Nazi s 4000 9000 casualties.

Omaha Beach: This beach was the most heavily defended beach. Landing craft were shot at by
artillery and machine guns and blown up by mines underneath the surface of the water. The enemy
Nazis were heavily entrenched in the cliff above leading to some 2000 casualties for the Allied forces.
Gold Beach: This beach was not directly protected by any pillboxes or other defences, but rather by an
enemy battalion and 4 artillery guns, 3 of which were destroyed by Allied ships and 1 of which
surrendered. The casualties for this beach landing were estimated to be roughly 1000.
Juno Beach: This beach was defended by artillery, machine gun nests, pillboxes, barbed wire fences
and mines. This beach took a long time to secure as there were many machine gun nests covering each
other meaning that they had to be outflanked before they could be reached and destroyed. Casualties

Benefits And Benefits Of Pgd
Benefits of PGD
PGD can test for more than 100 different genetic conditions. Some of the conditions tested for are life
threatening or will adversely affect the way the individual and its parents will live, so therefore a
healthy (free of the disorder tested for) baby can be selected and implanted.
The procedure is executed before implantation which allows the couple to decide if they wish to
continue with the pregnancy. Therefore, the couple would not have to consider ending the pregnancy
once it is established, or go through an entire pregnancy then have a baby born with a severe genetic
disorder.
The procedure enables couples to pursue biological children who might not have done so otherwise.
Sometimes the reason miscarriages occur is due to the baby having a particular chromosomal
abnormality. When women are older, this can make the genetic material in your eggs more likely to go
wrong during fertilisation. A chromosomal defect in your baby is therefore more likely to happen and
this increases the likelihood of miscarriage, even recurrent miscarriage.
Disadvantages of PGD
PGD does not always result in pregnancy, and is a long, physically and emotionally demanding
process to go through and not have it result in a pregnancy.
PGD is significantly more expensive than conceiving a pregnancy the usual way and undergoing
prenatal testing
The PGD technology is still considered experimental, so technically long term effects are unknown.

The Public´s Perceptions of Victims and criminals
Such shows like America s Most Wanted have been instrumental for the victims rights movement here
in America. America s Most Wanted has become one of the most important programs on television,
having played a major role in the capture of more than 1,100 fugitives in the U.S. and 30 countries,
including 17 on the FBI s Ten Most Wanted List, rescue of 61 children and Missing persons since its
launch in 1988 (Welch, 2013). The host of the show John Walsh was a victim in his own right when
his son Adam was taken from a Florida mall in 1983. The abduction of their son Adam prompted the
Walsh family to seek help from various law enforcement agencies for themselves and other families
that were in similar situations thus leading to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to the theory observed by the researchers, the criminal justice system not only has
emphasized the interests of the offenders but has put the victims secondary to those offenders.
Individuals can experience many types of victimizations which include domestic violence, theft, and
child abuse. The perception of the masses in our society about these crimes and others are not always
valid or accurate. The perceptions that are driven by those of the media include myths about certain
crimes and the distinguishing characteristics of some of those that have been victimized. Some
examples of these perceptions that are held by our society are people are to blame for their own
victimizations, they might deserve this kind of treatment because of who they are or where they live
and lastly, individuals usually recover from being victimized rather quickly. These perceptions are to
blame for negative reactions that victims receive from the public and the criminal justice system. I
think due to shows like America s Most Wanted has really curbed society s perceptions of victims and
criminals. These types of shows have diminished the stereotypical mentality that has existed here in
America for centuries and that is people are not to blame for being victimized because of their status

Flinders Range Biome
A biome is a large area or habitat that occupies the earth. Animals, plants along with flora and fauna
occupy biome habitats. They cleverly adapt to their environment and geographical location. The area
that I have chosen to research are the Flinders Ranges. The Flinders Rangers are in South Australia,
covering 37,000 square kilometres. The biome expands from Crystal Brook in the south to Mount
Hopeless in the north. There are several main general features associated with this semi arid biome. It
has landforms that are above sea level. The biome has high mountain ranges with summits reaching
900 metres. The area has steep gorges, cliffs, ridges and plateaus. The biome edges have grasslands
and foothills which contain creeks, gorges, valleys, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Language As An Image Of Reality
Ashley Newman
Phil 422 Prof. Livingston Language as an Image of Reality
Wittgenstein s the Tractatus and Plato s Cratylus are two works that offer remarkably comparable
theories. The Tractatus uses propositions to establish a theory regarding language and Plato uses
names in the dialogue Cratylus to develop a similar theory. Using propositions and names,
respectively, the two philosophers develop arguments showing that there is an extreme parallel
between language and pictures. After Plato discloses the origination of names and Wittgenstein looks
at the composition of propositions, the two philosophers are able to assess the relation between names,
propositions and reality. The relation of names and propositions to reality leads ... Show more content

He determines that names are composed of smaller parts, letters and vowels, which correspond to the
elements that compose the thing it is naming. Socrates begins by focusing on first names. First names
are determined to be the names from which all other names are composed. If all other names come
from these first names though, how then are first names decided? This brings Socrates to acknowledge
the importance of breaking down these first names into their elemental forms of letters and syllables.
Because there are no names before first names that offer a way to name first names, he decides each
letter and syllable of a first name must correspond to an element of which it is composed. For example
h might correspond to being made of flesh.
He relates this concept of a name being composed of smaller things making up a whole to the art of
painting when he says, It s just the same as it is with painters. This is a parallel that is easy to

Winning by Jack Welch
Winning by Jack Welch The book Winning by Jack Welch was written in 2004. It is a straight forward
book that goes into all aspects of running a business and becoming a successful leader. The author was
the CEO of General Electric for over 20 years. Welch retired in 2001 and spends his time traveling
around the world giving speeches, answering questions and giving advice about how to be able to run
a successful business. After a couple of years of touring and giving advice he decided to put it down
on paper and wrote the book Winning. Welch takes a look at every level of a business, whether it is a
large or small company, the philosophy and practices should be the same. The book is divided into
four sections. The first section is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The middle 70 must be managed differently and are probably the hardest group to manage. This group
of people is enormously valuable to any company; you simply cannot function without their skills
energy, and commitment. After all, they are the majority of your employees. (p. 41) The last part of the
first section talks about voice and dignity. It makes a point that people should be allowed to express
how they feel about things and not be penalized for it. Some people have better ideas than others;
some are smarter or more experienced or more creative. But everyone should be heard and respected.
(p. 57)
Allowing people to voice their opinion could lead to a great new innovative idea that will be profitable
for the company. The second section of the book is called YOUR COMPANY and one of the chapters
discusses leadership. Welch has eight rules of what leaders do on page 63 of his book. His eight rules
are:
1. Leaders relentlessly upgrade their team, using every encounter as an opportunity to evaluate, coach
and build self confidence.
2. Leaders make sure people not only see the vision, they live and breathe it.
3. Leaders get into everyone s skin, exuding positive energy and optimism.
4. Leaders establish trust with candor, transparency, and credit.
5. Leaders have the courage to make unpopular decisions and gut calls.
6. Leaders probe and push with a curiosity that borders on skepticism, making sure

I Am Nobody Who Are You Essay
I am nobody! Who are you? (Dickinson, 2013, line 1). A very famous but quite controversial line from
the poem written by author, Emily Dickinson. Many say she writes her poems using her thoughts,
others think that she writes about her friends feelings. Quite intriguing, based on what her poems are
written about. Given the fact that Emily herself faced many tragedies in her life, including the death of
most of her immediate family and a best friend, and also faced many health issues herself, it isn t
much of a wonder that when it came down to religion, she didn t really have an opinion. But, did she
make this known in her poems? Did she try to voice her opinion, with an explanation of why she felt
this way? And is she really as complicated as readers think? In the poem, There s a certain slant of
light , many religious references have been used. This poem specifically focuses only on the
significant effect of a certain type of light that the narrator / speaker notices on winter evenings. But,
this poem is not going to be a pleasant one, because this light is very heavy and it oppresses the
speaker. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This poem resolves to be that in the end it is so powerful, that everything, including nature herself,
notices its presence, and then ends with a departure that allows for a complete but terrifying
understanding of death and remorse. This poem completely sums up Emily Dickinson. This poem,
along with almost every other poem of Emily s, share the same and obvious theme: Death and
weirdness about anything religions. By using religious items and well known subjects relating to God
and Heaven, she gives off a purely negative vibe to anyone who reads her poems. But in this particular
poem, the certain Slant of light may be oppressive to the narrator but this is definitely not an ordinary

  • 2. The Problem Of The Homelessness Epidemic Jacob Setton How to end Homelessness in D.C.? The chasm between the law and, the law as applied in practice is vast. The law provides funding for homeless people, but this often leads to discrimination because it is so difficult to gain access to these funds. Roscoe Pound, one of the most cited legal scholars of the 20th century, points out how the laws on the street too often differ from the laws on the books and result in discrimination. Homeless people suffer from government bureaucracy that makes it almost impossible for a homeless person to successfully receive aid without help from others. The application process for applying for aid is both strenuous and difficult, that requires a level of literacy skills and legal expertise that would likely preclude an otherwise healthy person from becoming homeless in the first place. In order to fix this injustice, experiments in the field of healthcare and government policy, must be applied to help the homeless in our community in D.C.. To solve the homelessness epidemic, we need to expand collaborations between institutions that already exist in D.C.to help the homeless and create a housing first plan that provides both rapid housing for the temporarily homeless and permanent supportive housing for those who are chronically homeless. This policy change may seem intuitive give homeless people housing , however detractors argue that it is a naive approach to a complex issue that also costs too much. ... • 4. How Did African American Music Influence Jamaica Relative to its size, population and economic standing in the international arena, Jamaica is arguably the most influential nation as it relates to the propagation of music internationally. Jamaican music, primary roots reggae and dancehall can be heard on every continent in the world. Like most of the Caribbean islands, Jamaican music is influenced by its African influence through the presence of the institution of slavery on the island, that of the European colonizer and to some extent the Indians who were brought to the island during the indentureship period. African Influence Kromanti contributed to the nation by the maroons, slaves who escape from bondage on the plantations and settled in the mountains of the island. There they kept ... Pocomania music has tremendous influence on both reggae and dancehall music. Reggae Developed from the late 60s and was in its heyday during the 1970s. The music developed from ska (the first truly indigenous Jamaican music) which was then tempered down to rock steady in an effort to focus on calm and consciousness. Among the greatest performers of the art form is The Wailers which was made up of Bob Marley, Bunny Wailer and Peter Tosh. The music became synonymous with the rise off the Rastafarian movement and was used to promote the movement. Dancehall Music A Jamaican style of music which arose out of reggae in the early 1980s and is still popular today. Though the music grew of reggae as a style it was very different. Whereas reggae s lyrics is based on consciousness, positivity and peace, dancehall through its lyrics perpetuated slackness, gangster, guns and violence. Dancehall music was also considered to be artificial and manufactured as it was computer based unlike reggae which was considered natural and produced live with groups ... • 5. Tragic Heroes, By Sophocles, William Shakespeare, And... It is very easy to fall in love with the hero. The nobleman who commits no wrong, saves the day, and usually looks good doing it. But the best characters aren t thoroughly perfect and selfless like we would like them to be, because in the end, that s not real life. The best, most relatable characters are those in which we can associate, abhor, and admire all at the same time. Sophocles, William Shakespeare, and Arthur Miller were able to capture this character in the tragic hero. A character who, despite their human nature, ends up destroying themselves because of their own faults. Though these three playwrights display the tragic model in different ways, they all come back to point out the flaws in human nature through five stages; nobility, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As radium continued to increase in popularity, more uses for the material emerged. The U.S. Radium Corporation began making big money on having their workers paint watch dials with radium luminescent paint known as Undark. Not only were these watches practical for everyday life, they were also helpful with the war effort and provided young women with jobs to help support their families with. The factories were clean and well lit, and the girls were paid 8 cents a dial and could earn as much as $24 a day. However as these girls were painting their 300 dials a day, people didn t seem to notice that the average painter consumed approximately 4,000 micrograms of radium in six months , as they pointed the tips of their brushes on their lips to get a better point (Moss). The hamartia never truly became apparent to anyone until girls such as Amelia Maggia started developing the symptoms of radiation poisoning. For most girls it started with tooth decay, so The dentist would remove the rotten teeth, already practically falling out of the girls mouths, but the gums wouldn t heal. Instead, agonising ulcers sprouted in the holes left behind. Very often their jawbones crumbled to the touch (Fergusson). However, instead of looking for answers in these never before seen medical ailments, Amelia Maggia s death was reported as syphilis. This left radium and the U.S. Radium Corporation unblemished, but instead brought humiliation to the families of the innocent girls like Amelia. As we see the radiation begin to poison more and more unknowing citizens, it becomes clear that it is those side effects that act as the equivalent of the hamartia in the tragic model, as it takes control of the entire element just as ambition took full control of Macbeth without him realizing ... • 6. Political Parties And The Republican Party Platform Generally speaking, anyone who lives in the United States of America knows that there are two main political parties the Republicans and the Democrats. Having two main parties has its advantages and, of course, its disadvantages. For example, in By the People James E. Monroe and Rogan Kersh (301) point out having this type of system creates predictability and stability. However, they also declare (301) it can lead to a gridlock. This is not a new concept either as there has been a divide since the beginning of both parties. The two parties more often than not disagree on various issues, while rarely agreeing on what is best for the country. Democrats and Republicans highly differ when comparing views on climate change. The Democrats accept human role in climate change while many Republicans question if climate change is even real. In the 2016 Democratic Party Platform (27), they state in the first 100 days of the next administration, the president will convene a summit of the words best engineers, climate scientists, policy experts, activists, and indigenous communities to chart a course to solve the climate crisis. This is highlighted previously when President Obama, a Democrat, traveled to Paris for a convention about climate change where he met other leaders around the world to make a plan to help fix the issues surrounding climate change. This shows the basic principles of the Democratic Party as internationalist and having the large government as it states in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. My Experience At A Catholic Wedding Have you ever felt so out of place at an event? This is how I felt when attending a friend s Catholic wedding. I have attended many weddings; on the other hand, this was completely different than the standard wedding I imagined. The setting of the church, the discipline the Catholics have with their religion, and the wedding ceremony was nothing I imagined when being invited to this wedding. September 23 has always been a day I marked on my calendar every year. This was my wife s and I anniversary; however, this year I had it marked down for a different event. This was the day a friend from my previous work was getting married. We discussed his Catholic belief a few times at work; consequently, when it was time for lent. As a result, I would pick on him for eating meat when he was not aloud, but that was all I really knew about the religion. The night before the big day I called him, because not knowing much about the Catholic wedding, I did not know what to wear. I did not know if I had to wear a suit or if I could wear khakis and a polo shirt. So, he told me khakis would work with a nice dress shirt. When Saturday came, I did not know I would feel confused or fell as out of place as I did. However, on the way to the church I figured this would be the typical wedding, where they would say their vows and the preacher would say you may kiss the bride , then I could make it home to watch the end of the buckeye s game. Nevertheless, this is not how the wedding would go. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One of the longest running court trials in history, this case was filled with conspiracy, controversy, and the power of celebrity. The biggest part of the trial was the evidence. The submission of the blood samples, the DNA testing, and the articles of clothing made the case what it was. Amidst all the accusations of planted evidence and conspiracy plans against Simpson, the jury and Judge Ito had to try to sift through and find Simpson guilty or not guilty. This was when the police knew this would not be just any murder case. This was OJ Simpson, the famous football player, this would be complicated. Their only hope of conviction was the evidence that would place him as the murderer. Their first set of evidence, and possibly the best part of attaching the three to each other that night, was the blood. There were approximately 22 submissions of blood evidence found at the Bundy Condo (murder scene), Rockingham (Simpson s residence), and in the Bronco (Simpson s vehicle). Whether fixing up a kitchen to improve the sale price of a home or remodeling to meet personal tastes, some smart shopping has the potential to save thousands while still creating a high end look. Odd Lots and Closeouts As home décor trends change, companies who manufacture everything from light fixtures to floor tiles discontinue some merchandise to make way for newer styles. Shopping for clearance prices on closeout items may garner savings of 75% or more off of retail prices. Keep in mind that discontinued items are available in limited quantities. When purchasing items such as wall coverings or floor coverings, take accurate measurements and be sure to purchase enough to finish the entire job. Also remember that sales on discontinued items are often final, so avoid purchasing in excess. As with fashion, home décor lines usually introduce new styles in the spring and fall. These time of year are prime times for closeout shopping. However, many home improvement stores change their inventory throughout the year, marking items at clearance prices to clear out shelf space for other products. Shopping frequently at many different stores will likely turn up a wider array of products at the bet possible prices. • 13. Symptoms And Treatments Of Sleep Apnea Hypothesis: Individuals experiencing stress are more likely to develop sleep apnea. My Initial Hypothesis Through our discussion in class over sleep disorders, we have discussed all different types of disorders, which lead to an interesting one called sleep apnea. In lecture, I have learned that sleep apnea can take a toll on the people it affects, and can make a difference in the way one lives. Sleep disorders make us understand how complex and interesting the brain can be. Sleep disorders can be caused by a variety of reasons, but one of the leading reasons I believe that causes sleep apnea is stress. My Empirical Evidence Most cases of sleep apnea are linked to stress, but the stress in sleep apnea can also lead to other medical problems such as an increased risk for cardiovascular consequences. It has been tested and proven that smoking and diabetes were also a large factor in the disorder of sleep apnea (Simiakakis M et al., 2012). Some studies have shown differences between cardiovascular disease and stress (Greenlund et al. 1995; Riese et al. 2000; Heslop et al. 2002a,b; Belkic et al. 2004). It is a terrifying fear to think that so many medical diseases can lead to the cause of a sleep disorder. It s like most of the time with people one part of their body messes up, and it leads to something else. It s an eye opener to realize that this sleep disorder can be caused by many health related problems, and not just stress. Others say that sleep apnea is related ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Suburban Sonnet, written by Gwen Harwood has a lot of social commentary and is speaking to you about a lot of things that it feels are important. It is looking to make a lot of points about Australian society and the sacrifice of having children and of living a suburban lifestyle. Gwen Harwood s Suburban Sonnet is a fourteen line poem with strong values of urban Australia. As she rushes to the stove too late, a wave of nausea overpowers, (stanza one, line four). The mood of the poem is very dull and presents a negative connotation. Constant imagery is used to paint this theme into the readers head, The children caper round a sprung mousetrap where a mouse lies dead. When the soft corpse won t move they seem afraid, (stanza one, line ten). Symbolisation is also used to counteract the miserable life of an Australian housewife. This can be seen in the line She practises a fugue, though it can matter to no one now if she plays well or not, (stanza one, line one). This line suggests that the woman portrayed is a musician. The poem latter reads, Once she played for Rubinstein, who yawned, (stanza one, line nine). This suggests she was talented enough to present to Rubenstein but didn t succeed. The children caper, round a sprung mousetrap where a mouse lies dead. This line symbolizes the housewife. Her dreams of becoming a musician are trapped within her own environment. • 16. The Propaganda Model Of The Mass Media Throughout society, the mass media constantly changes over time. The mass media play a prominent role in informing the public about what occurs within the world, especially in areas which audiences do not acquire direct experience and knowledge. This essay will argue that the propaganda model is no longer valid as it has become outdated. This essay will also discuss the model in relation to the five filters and draw on Rampton s critique of the propaganda model in contemporary society. The propaganda model was developed by Edward Herman and Noam Chomsky in 1988. The propaganda model was published in the book of Manufacturing Consent, sought to provide an analytical framework that attempts to explain the behavioral and performance of the mass media in the United States (Herman, 2000). Herman and Chomsky (2002) argued that the propaganda model contains five filters which determine what is news . The first filter is the size, ownership, and profit orientation of the media, which refers to the cooperation between the mainstream media and the large conglomerate. The second filter is advertising, which refers to the mass media using advertising as the central source of income. The third filter is sourcing, which refers to the mass media dependency of information from the government, business and experts. The fourth filter is flak , which refers to the negative response that discipline the media. The fifth filter is anti communism, which refers to the control mechanism of the ... Over centuries there has been a huge debate as to which one is superior. Vampires and werewolves have always fought each other from the beginning as born enemies. Some say the werewolves are superior because they are stronger and others say the vampires are superior because they are smarter. It comes down to brawn versus brains. For me the answer is obvious; at the end of it all it is the vampires who rule over everything that goes bump in the night. Don t get me wrong I respect all monsters. While I do believe vampires have a total advantage over werewolves there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also with the transformation comes a lot of pain and loss of memory. Vampires, however, control their causalities very well which is one of many reasons why they are superior. In fact, vampires have very strong handle of things when it comes to surviving; as long as they maintain a healthy diet vampires have the world at their fingertips. Vampires even possess the gift of seduction and mind control. They can basically tell any human what to do, when to do it, and how they want them to do it. This ability makes humans easy prey and in turn helps vampires maintain a healthy diet. Another one of their greatest advantages is they have their full strength all the time. Vampires are known for their strength to tear humans apart or crush anything that may get in their way. They don t require any special time of the month to use their powers. Not only do vampires have their strength but like the werewolf, vampires also have keen senses too; sight, smell, and hearing. • 20. Reflection Of The Fight On Human Rights And Reproductive... I first really recognized the fight for social justice on June 25, 2013. This was the day Wendy Davis defended reproductive rights at the Texas Capitol for 13 hours. I grew up in a politically active climate, but watching a livestream of the Texas Legislature that night had more of an effect on me than anything I had done or witnessed before. I am interested in the Bridging Disciplines Program s Human Rights and Social Justice certificate because from that night on I have become aware of the incredible amount of injustice in the world. For a little while, I wanted to be a public official like Wendy Davis. However, after I started taking classes at UT, I immediately became interested in court cases. Especially, I loved the class Supreme Court and Public Policy. It struck me that most human rights victories came from the courts rather than the legislature. Just three years after the filibuster, this proved true to me yet again when the Supreme Court declared unconstitutional the law Wendy Davis had attempted to block. The Senators and by extension the Texas voters couldn t stop this injustice, but the courts did. By completing this certificate, I hope to learn about different human rights movements from across the world. I will look to answer why certain movements succeeded and certain movements have failed or are still in progress. While I don t plan on specializing in a strand due to the limited time I have to complete this certificate, I am most interested in the Theory, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

So now a days ULBs are practicing the development by keeping the flow on market hands. However there are some cases for development of city level infrastructure through TPS mechanism. They are here taken as case studies. After 1980 peripheral areas of Ahmedabad have been expanding rapidly. There was a huge differentiation between population within the city limit area and the outer peripheral area because the saturation of population within the city area and the subsequent large scale housing development in the fringe areas. Haphazard development took place because of absence of proper infrastructure and road network. The development in outer areas is expected to accelerate further as Ahmedabad has become a mega city. The expected population is expected to reach 46 lakhs and 60 lakhs in the former Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) and AUDA as per the proposed plan with in a period of 10 years. Blanch comes from Belle Reve. On her journey to New Orleans, she has quite a few car changes. They told me to take a streetcar named Desire, and then transfer to one called Cemeteries and ride six blocks and get off at Elysian Fields! (Williams 6) Although her exact route is not continuously brought up throughout the text, it has a greater purpose that if not evaluated, can often get overlooked. Desire is defined by dictionary.com as to wish or long for; crave; want. The streetcar throughout the text symbolizes Blanches journey of desiring to start over, hence why she gets on a streetcar named desire to get there. The author, Tennessee Williams is trying to show the deeper meaning behind her wanting to move on from her past by using this example and many others. Every girl loves baths or showers or some way of getting clean. The same way that women love being clean and smelling pretty, everyone has a thing that comforts them. These comforting things can be objects, people, thoughts, ideas, actions, dreams, etc. For Blanche, one of her comforts is baths. Williams uses bats a lot to show what she does in her free time. He attempts to get the point across that she is continuously taking baths to try and erase her past. Throughout the play, we find out everything that Blanche has been through and everything slowly starts making sense as to why she feels the need to erase her past. After going through her husband being unfaithful, she felt unworthy to be with him or anyone else, not to mention her husband s suicide. Blanche blamed herself for her husband suicide. After finding him with another man, she told him that he disgusted her, and his suicide followed those words. This tore her apart, as it should. Everyone has a past or portion of it that they wish to erase. For Blanche, she wishes she could erase her husband s suicide which is the significance of the long, frequent baths. According to Dr. Bright (1978), by the year 1944 it was the largest industry in America (p. 1). It soon declined in the years following due to material flaws, lack in engine performance, and production manufacturing methods. One contributing factor was metal fatigue, this occurs when metal parts that undergo many repeated strains eventually fail at a loading far below their original ultimate strength , Garrison (2005) (p. 1). Manufacturers at the time primarily used aluminum and steel, because of their overall strength and how readily they were available. What engineers did not consider was the abuse the airframes would take over time. This factor went overlooked, resulting in numerous crashes with fatalities. • 44. Benefits And Benefits Of Pgd Benefits of PGD PGD can test for more than 100 different genetic conditions. Some of the conditions tested for are life threatening or will adversely affect the way the individual and its parents will live, so therefore a healthy (free of the disorder tested for) baby can be selected and implanted. The procedure is executed before implantation which allows the couple to decide if they wish to continue with the pregnancy. Therefore, the couple would not have to consider ending the pregnancy once it is established, or go through an entire pregnancy then have a baby born with a severe genetic disorder. The procedure enables couples to pursue biological children who might not have done so otherwise. Sometimes the reason miscarriages occur is due to the baby having a particular chromosomal abnormality. When women are older, this can make the genetic material in your eggs more likely to go wrong during fertilisation. A chromosomal defect in your baby is therefore more likely to happen and this increases the likelihood of miscarriage, even recurrent miscarriage. Disadvantages of PGD PGD does not always result in pregnancy, and is a long, physically and emotionally demanding process to go through and not have it result in a pregnancy. PGD is significantly more expensive than conceiving a pregnancy the usual way and undergoing prenatal testing The PGD technology is still considered experimental, so technically long term effects are unknown. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to the theory observed by the researchers, the criminal justice system not only has emphasized the interests of the offenders but has put the victims secondary to those offenders. Individuals can experience many types of victimizations which include domestic violence, theft, and child abuse. The perception of the masses in our society about these crimes and others are not always valid or accurate. The perceptions that are driven by those of the media include myths about certain crimes and the distinguishing characteristics of some of those that have been victimized. Some examples of these perceptions that are held by our society are people are to blame for their own victimizations, they might deserve this kind of treatment because of who they are or where they live and lastly, individuals usually recover from being victimized rather quickly. These perceptions are to blame for negative reactions that victims receive from the public and the criminal justice system. Language As An Image Of Reality Ashley Newman Phil 422 Prof. Livingston Language as an Image of Reality Wittgenstein s the Tractatus and Plato s Cratylus are two works that offer remarkably comparable theories. The Tractatus uses propositions to establish a theory regarding language and Plato uses names in the dialogue Cratylus to develop a similar theory. Using propositions and names, respectively, the two philosophers develop arguments showing that there is an extreme parallel between language and pictures. After Plato discloses the origination of names and Wittgenstein looks at the composition of propositions, the two philosophers are able to assess the relation between names, propositions and reality. This brings Socrates to acknowledge the importance of breaking down these first names into their elemental forms of letters and syllables. Because there are no names before first names that offer a way to name first names, he decides each letter and syllable of a first name must correspond to an element of which it is composed. For example h might correspond to being made of flesh. Many say she writes her poems using her thoughts, others think that she writes about her friends feelings. Quite intriguing, based on what her poems are written about. Given the fact that Emily herself faced many tragedies in her life, including the death of most of her immediate family and a best friend, and also faced many health issues herself, it isn t much of a wonder that when it came down to religion, she didn t really have an opinion.
