The Sources of Soviet Conduct by George F. Kennan Essay
The Sources of Soviet Conduct in 1947 by George F. Kennan, the article impacted and created a
different perspective on the spread of Communism and the Soviet Union. Kennan s philosophy behind
stopping Communism from spreading was through containment, even though the telegraph did not
have the word containment in it. The Truman Doctrine was established and the number of Presidents
that viewed war in foreign soil. Kennan continued to fight Communism and had inputs and theories on
other conflicts to include Vietnam and Korea.
George Kennan was an observer of the Russian Civil War aftermath. Kennan served as a Soviet front
for two years in Moscow as chief of mission and a consultant for Ambassador Averell Harriman. At

Kennan having paranoia within the government, Kennan implied there was determination to destroy
America. Kennan believed there was no way of living together and felt the Soviet mindset of Marx
and Lenin could force them down.
Within theories and finding, The Truman Doctrine was established and on March 12th, 1947. Truman
speech pledged American support for free peoples who are resisting attempted subjugation by armed
minorities or by outside pressures (Simkin, n.d.) Congress also agreed to give economic aid to the
military to help fight Greece against communism as he felt that the political stability was threatened.
With Greece in trouble Truman as concerned the other countries would fall into Communism and was
known as the domino theory . If it was not for Truman then Greece and Turkey could no longer afford
to fight the rebels. Truman said that the Cold War was a choice between freedom and oppression;
Therefore, Americans would have to abandon their decisions not to get involved in European affairs;
America was OBLIGED to get involved (Clare, n.d.). The Truman Doctrine was an American

Essay about New York State Accounting Code of Ethics
New York State Accounting Code of Ethics
The accounting system is constantly changing. During these changes, it is important for accountants to
adhere to the high ethical standards that they have always lived by. Adhering to the high ethical
standards is an accountant s obligation to the public, the profession, and themselves. An accountant s
ethical conduct usually lies within four different areas. This includes competence, confidentiality,
integrity, and objectivity. NYSSCPA.ORG states, Members also have a continuing responsibility to
cooperate with each other to improve the art of accounting, maintain the public s confidence, and

Accountants should refuse gifts and favors that would appear to influence their actions and should
refrain from any activities that would prejudice their ability to perform their duties ethically.
NYSSCPA.ORG states, Integrity requires a member to be, among other things, honest and candid
within the constraints of client confidentiality, (Article 3). Accountants must be willing to recognize
and communicate professional limitations that would preclude successful performance of their
activities. They are expected to communicate unfavorable as well as favorable information.
Client Confidentiality Client confidentiality is very important in the accounting profession. New York
State requires that accountants do not share any client information without the specific consent of the
client. However, under certain circumstances, the State finds it necessary that an accountant might
have to share client information. Examples of these circumstances include an accountant?s receipt of a
subpoena or summons or an accountants participation in actual or threatened legal proceedings or
alternative dispute resolution proceedings (NYSSCPA.ORG, ET section 301).
Accounting Work Product New York State requires its accountants to adequately maintain its work

The History of Microsoft
Historians categorize blocks of time with the discovery of certain raw materials that humans utilized.
The Bronze Age and the Iron Age were two periods in human history that proved through the
discovery of artifacts that humans learned to harness these raw materials ingeniously. The Industrial
Revolution of the late nineteenth century brought the discoveries of the Bronze and Iron Ages to new
heights, and the advent of the locomotive, automobiles, cargo ships and airplanes were the most
evident by products of such raw materials. Use of these by products from the earth s raw materials

Despite the simplicity of the program, it spawned the creative genius in both young men to tackle
more challenging programs in the years ahead. Because the Mothers Club was unable to afford
continued use of computer time at $40 per hour, they decided to make it students responsibility to
purchase their own computer time. Most students complied by getting jobs outside school. Gates and
Allen became programmers in the summers for compensation of computer time and $5000 in cash. In
his 1995 book The Road

capacity as a wristwatch does today . . .
Despite its limitations, it inspired us to indulge in the dream that one day millions of individuals could
possess their own computers.@ (11 12)

Bill Gates, shared an article with Gates buried on page 143 in Electronics

A Midsummer Night s Dream by William Shakespeare Essay
I. INTRODUCTION Though she be but little, she is fierce! With this statement, William Shakespeare

this statement to introduce the country of Luxembourg. The Central Intelligence Agency s World

it is bordered by the countries France, Belgium, and Germany (The World Factbook). The

Marijuana Use among High School Seniors in the United States
Marijuana Use Marijuana use among high school seniors in the United States has been on the rise
causing greater concerns for addiction and health concerns among teenagers. According to the CDC,
in 2010, marijuana use among high school seniors rose to 21.4%, with 25.2% being male users and
16.9% being female (Health, United States, 2011, 2011). This shows a steady increase every year
starting in 2007 where 18.8% of high school seniors were using marijuana, with 22.3% were male and
15.0% were female. Ages as young as 12 years old also showed the same statistical trends, even in
Middle Schools. Up to 1920, there were isolated accounts of marijuana and those that did show up in
the press showed marijuana being smoked for recreational purposes (Harrison, 2010). After
prohibition, marijuana markets started to emerge in cities. Harry Anslinger, Federal Narcotics
Commissioner, alleged marijuana as being responsible for violent cases and waged war against
marijuana in 1933. As a result, 46 states enacted anti marijuana legislation. The Marijuana Tax Act of
1937 placed marijuana with Schedule I drugs that included opium and cocaine. The Boggs Bill of
1951 and the Narcotic Drug Act of 1956 served to establish severe penalties for violation of drug laws.
The Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs in 1961 was enacted to modernize and coordinate
international narcotic control. Provisions were made for cannabis. The Controlled Substances Act of
1970 consolidated over 50 drug laws and

Karl Contoh Research Paper
Karl Barth was a mid 20th century Swiss theologian. Born in Basel, he is considered to be one of the
if not the greatest theologian of the 20th century. Working both as a pastor and a theologian at
different points in his life, he produced the massive 7,500 page work Church Dogmatics. A champion
of neo orthodoxy, he sought to change the direction of theology from the liberal slant it had taken,
causing him to develop a very Christocentric theology.
For Barth, the Bible is not itself the revelation of God. Rather, it is the record of the revelation of God.
It is a way by which the church recalls and attests to God s work in the past (284). We therefore do the
Bible a disservice when we think that it is God s revelation. It is meant to point ... Show more content

Whatever his reason for thinking this, it must appear so obvious to him as to be unnecessary to
mention to his readers. He also assumes that modern people are now incapable of believing in
supernatural or mythic assertions. However, speaking purely from an observational perspective that
does not seem to be the case. In reality, there are probably billions of people going about their daily
lives using technology while simultaneously believing in the supernatural. The problem seems not to
be with the technology itself, but with a certain philosophy that has placed the technology within a
certain context for certain people. Namely, metaphysical naturalism. The task of Christianity, then, is
to combat this philosophy, not destroy itself from within by removing most of its truth content. For,
while Bultmann does not think that the essence of Christianity is contained in the mythology, in this
he is mistaken. It may be possible to draw a philosophy from Christian principles, ideas and stories,
but this is not Christianity. Christianity must be bound up in things like the atonement and the
resurrection. Without these, you merely have a life philosophy and ethics which is similar to a
Christian philosophy and ethics, but comes from a different source. There is, however, here something
that may be instructive. While Bultmann s basic assumptions are wrong, it is possible that along the
road of his demythologization he will uncover important parts of a Christian philosophy of life. These
should be embraced, despite the fact that in no serious sense in Bultmann a

The Octopus
At the turn of the century, American readers were interested only in stories with happy endings, where
goodness was praised and evil was punished. They did not particularly care if that was a false
interpretation of the way life really was. When men such as Frank Norris, the author of The Octopus,
wrote angrily of the injustices and poverty to be found in America, readers turned away. The Octopus
made them change their minds. The course of the novel and the reality of its characters held the
readers attention. It is so powerful a book that people had to care about the wheat growers, almost
against their wishes.
The impact did not end in the early twentieth century, but continues its legacy into the new
millenium. The Octopus, depicts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Their solution to the crisis was to keep magnifying it, until it ruined the farmers. Once the railroad
raised the price for the land, the farmers could not afford to buy. They proceeded to create dummy
buyers, fictitious settlers who they created to come in and buy the land. Soon after Delany, a ranch
worker was fired, the railroad used him to act as a dummy buyer and buy the land.
There was no way Delany could actually afforded to buy the land on his own; he was obviously acting
as the railroad s pawn, sent to aggravate the ranchers who leased farms from the railroad. The railroad
also tampered with other types of characters in the story. Dyke was fired from his job at the railroad
after he refused to work for the rates of a man doing half the work he was doing. Then after Dyke
mortgaged his land to the railroad, they raised the rates on the crop he was producing. They drove him
to poverty and when he tried to take back what they had stolen from him by robbing money from one
of their trains, they had him thrown in jail for life.
This is another example of how Norris evinces the railroads unethical treatment of the common man
in California at the time.Shelgrim, the executive of the P. and S.W. tried to justify the railroad s
actions, and in a way, pass on the responsibility, by calling the railroad a force, something that he had
no control over. In the novel, he compared this force to the way that wheat was

Essay on Texas s Political Culture
Political Culture
Texas political culture is one that can be described as a combination of three main ideas:
individualistic, traditionalism and moralism. Considering Texas and its overwhelming 254 counties we
can see these main ideas undoubtedly. The 254 counties each have their own general set of ideas,
attitudes and beliefs. The whole state of Texas is simply not just considered individualistic,
traditionalism, or moralism, it is considered all three. Individualistic, traditionalism and moralism are
all strong values that coexist in our society and they all affect how we as the people live our lives. A
political culture shapes a region s politics.
Texas has all three political cultures all over the state, but when people outside of ... Show more

Individualism is the belief of self reliance. Texas is also known for being on its own. Which leads to
its famous saying, you ve got nobody to blame but yourself. They are all about being the self made
man. An individualist prefers privacy, is suspicious of public institutions, and is an independent
contractor. This attitude ties into our low active government. Government is sought out to be at low
cost and out of the way of its voters. Texas government is very limited, and has a legislature that meets
biennially. Due to our isolation, public education is under funded and is at its high in many court
battles and legislative conflicts. The heart of individualism would be laissez faire. In Britannica,
laissez faire is the policy of minimum governmental interference in the economic affairs of individuals
and society. Laissez faire is basically telling government to leave them alone. The whole concept is to
keep minimum government interference in business.
Moralism is all about the community and a commonwealth. They are suspicious of private institutions
and interests. An example would be social security, social welfare programs, and public education
programs. A moralist is all about being equal with people, everyone needs a fair share. Austin Texas
has a lot of business there. They are big or moralism because of its big community.

The Importance Of The Quinceaera Celebration
The Quinceañera Celebration and The Importance of It The Quinceañera celebration also known as
Fiesta de Quince is the most important event every girl wants once they turn fifteen. Quinceañera
celebrations are formal and very expensive due to buying the decorations and most important the girls

party begins the quinceañera gets pictures taken with her beautiful dress by a professional
photographer that her parents hired (Cordova). The dress that she wears symbolizes her wearing the
first formal adult dress (Cantu). The quinceañera also wears a tiara and it represents her being the
princess of the night (Cantu). There is a special service for the quinceañera by thanking God for the
opportunity he gave her by having this big celebration and how she has completed childhood (The
Quinceañera Celebration). The quinceañera makes a special entrance during the service accompanied
by her chambelanes (Palfrey). The chambelanes wear nice suits that match the color of her dress and
she has a main chambelan that dresses different from the others (Palfrey). The girl is seated in front of
the guest at church because she is the most important at that time (Palfrey). The pastor gives the
quinceañera a small lesson on what the celebration actually means and how she will be acting from
now on(Cantu). The quinceañera has to kneel down during the service on a pillow that has her name

There are critics of the concept of human security which claim that if all the components of well being
are included, the term will become essentially meaningless, as it permits the inclusion of practically
everything that affects any larger groups of individuals adversely.1
2.3.RELATION OF TRADITIONAL SECURITY AND HUMAN SECURITY
Human security is a very broad concept of security and has been developed in order to challenge
traditional security studies, after people realized that nowadays poverty, diseases, and natural disaster
are a much bigger threat to the security of people than war. However even though human security has
emerged as a challenge of ideas, human and traditional/national security are not mutually exclusive
concepts. Many people have argued that it is not possible to attain human security without traditional
security and the other way around.

Thinking As A Nurse
Being a nurse is a profession. With each profession, there is a certain amount of knowledge that needs
to be applied to be able to carry out the necessary tasks. In the nursing field, as students we are
required to learn the human anatomy, pathophysiology, and pharmacology to apply it to practice. Prior
to reading Thinking as a Nurse, I had already developed a notion of what it meant to think like a
nurse. Thinking like a nurse in my own terms, means to know how the body functions, general
concepts, and lab values to ensure the safety of my patients. Thinking as a nurse involves patience,
planning ahead for negative outcomes, and being able to adapt well to changes. I feel as though in the
nursing field, there are constantly changes in a patients ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the book it discusses that being a nurse does not only require a skill set, but to analyze situations. I
believe it is important to always analyze situations, but having skills that you are able to perform is
crucial in nursing. Without knowing how to perform certain tasks precisely, you are placing your
patient at risk for harm. For example, skills such sterile dressing, changing wounds, and inserting a
catheter are all very important. Without the knowledge and ability to do those skills effectively, it puts
the patients at harm. While I do understand what the author is trying to say, I still believe technical
skills are not a distraction. Putting information together is also very important, but I believe making
sure your skills are performable is very critical. Also, I disagree that memorization is not needed in
nursing. The nursing field requires memorization and also applying the information. But, if you can t
remember a pathophysiology, how are you able to apply it to a patient? You must first memorize how
the body functions, and then how it can have abnormalities. This is advantage to my patients, because
it gives me a baseline. Once I understood what body function is not functioning correctly, I am then
able to review the labs necessary. I do agree with the concept that the nurse has to think like a nurse.
This is important because if you are oblivious to patient safety then you are increasing the chance of
harm happening to patients. It is also important to be thoughtful of our position, in the relationship of
patient and nurse. We are obligated by law to carry out our responsibilities effectively. Being mindful
reduces the likelihood of medication errors, and also reduces the chance of infection. Additionally, I
do agree that nursing requires teamwork. It is important to have teamwork, because without it you

Curriculum Reform in Schools
Critical Review The world population has grown and diversified causing a great impact on economic
and social life. This growth has influence language specialists and teachers of ELT to have a different
perspective on language learning and language use. The growing changes in standardized English ask
for a curriculum reform and different ways for schools to meet the students needs. For those reasons I
will critically review the following articles, Opportunity and Diversity: The Handbook for Teachers of
English , created by the British Council in 2009. The article Towards Intercultural Communicative
Competence in ELT written by, Cem Alptekin 2002 and The Future of English article , written by

array of diets such as plants in many varieties, and fruits (Etiendem, D., Tagg, N.). Since they live in
the higher parts of the mountains near the border of Nigeria, the amount of fruit trees that exist are
much lower than other regions, so they have come to rely on vegetation (Etiendem, D., Tagg, N.).
Since almost all fruit is seasonal, the primates must learn when they can eat one type, and when
vegetation is important. (Etiendem, D., Tagg, N.), (Imong, I., Robbins, M.). The food they eat also

Marketing is an important tool for any business. It is how a company makes their product known to
the public. Without marketing, the consumers will either not know that the product even exists or will
not know all the applications of the product; who makes it, what it is and what it is made from, when
came on the market, where it can be purchased, how it can help the consumer and why the consumer
should even purchase the product in the first place. According to Tom Ash, Marketing is the process

have not really been able to locate any company that Kudler is competitive with on their web site but I
do notice that their selection can be considered competitive in any market. The way in which Kudler
describes their position, performance, capabilities and intentions is very relative to a marketing

Determinants And Drivers Of Entry Modes
Determinants and Drivers of Entry Modes

Global Strategy
State University of New York: Empire College The region of Asia and its surrounding areas are the
fastest growing profitable markets for the airline industry. Countries like China with its vast economic
expansion is attracting more businesses and manufacturers to the region. As such, air travel demand is
higher than before and western based airlines like United, Delta and American continue to compete to
enter these markets or even close to it. It is without a doubt that gaining at least one landing spot
anywhere in the Asian market can significantly improve the route structure for airlines and profit. This
paper will seek to explore the drivers of entry modes as it relates to the aviation industry. It will look
at Delta Air Lines and how such a company entered the Asian market after its merger with former US
carrier Northwest Airlines. This paper will examine the process of the merger and the challenges Delta
faced while entering a new market with a new logo and strategy. It will seek to identify the airline
industry strategy as it relates to the BCG matrix using examples from various airlines such as
American. Entry Modes in the Airline Industry Air transportation has significantly impact the
expansion of world trade and tourism in many countries around the world. The industry continues to

White Tigers From The Woman Warrior Essay
Maxine Hong Kingston once said, I ve been writing since I was 7, but before that, I was orally making
stories. This quote expresses Kingston s fervor for writing and storytelling outside of her short story
White Tigers from the Woman Warrior , which emphasizes the importance of literature, which is her
art, by retelling her own childhood as the fairy tale of the Woman Warrior, Fa Mu Lan, and connecting
it back to her own life. The introductory paragraphs, coupled with the word carving scene and the
concluding final paragraphs, evoke Fa Mu Lan and present Maxine s life as analogous to Fa Mu Lan s
life story. While it is understood that they did not know each other, Maxine complicates this
relationship , for lack of a better word, by using a first person narrative as opposed to a third person
narrative while retelling the fairy tale , which in turn complicates subjectivity of Maxine, and the
relationship between Maxine and Fa Mu Lan. Moreover, the words in the word carving scene in the
middle of the fairy tale are double symbols of suffering and of perfect filiality, which is a trait
common in Chinese culture. By and large, these early on passages, and each section from there on,
and the word cutting scene, utilize the literary devices of point of view and central symbol to influence
the audience to acknowledge Maxine s claim that Fa Mu Lan is her model, and that she, Maxine, is
fruitful in taking after her case since they both have words at their backs.

Rich People Just Care Less By Daniel Goleman
Imagine having a 200% percent in a class with a few weeks left. Would you continue to put in the
effort or stop because you know you are guaranteed the A+? Most humans would stop because the
effort was no longer needed. Rich and powerful people have this mindset when it comes to empathy
and compassion to others. They don t see the need to connect to the feelings of others because it seems
irrelevant to their life. Agreeing with the article Rich people just care less by Daniel Goleman, I too
believe that high salaried and statused people do not have as good interpersonal relationships as low
class workers because they lack interest in understanding others situations. Social interactions are vital
in the world we live in today, yet, more so for the poor because While the wealthy can hire help, those
with few material assets are more likely to value their social assets: like a neighbor who will keep an

Thomas F. Pettigrew, a sociologist, claims, per Goleman , that even in areas where ethnic groups were
in conflict and viewed one another through lenses of negative stereotypes, individuals who had close
friends within the other group exhibited little or no such prejudice (Goleman 2). Since rich people
typically lack meaningful interaction with lower classes or people of different ethnicities, they fail to
see that they are often good people that don t deserve to be stereotyped. Instead, they look at the
differences between them causing the empathy gap. Clearly rich people have benefits in life but
money can t buy many things. No matter how much money someone makes, empathy is not buyable.
And a person who cannot emphasize can never truly be complete. Work Cited Goleman, Daniel. Rich

Essay on The Effects of Drugs in the US
The Effects of Drugs in the US
Drug abuse is one of the most discouraged behaviors in our country. In the United States of America,
we, the people value several things, some of which are freedom, expanding and taking care of our
families and our financial security. We, the people, take such things for granted. We also discourage
some behavior, such as crime, laziness and use of illegal drugs. Use of illegal drugs is harmful to the
user and all those with whom the user comes in contact. There are over 40 million illegal drug users in
the world today and America is the biggest market for drugs. (Castro 45) There are more drug dealers

The Four Levels Of Stylistic Analysis
3. Four levels of stylistic analysis
There are four levels of stylistics analysis through which we will analyze the poem such as:
a. Graphology
In graphology we will study the writing system of writings and also the spelling rules. Leech (1969)
titles that graphology go above orthography which refers the entire writing system: such as
punctuation, paragraphing and spacing. To sum up it contracts with the systematic formation, structure
and punctuation in the sentence.
b. Phonology
This level analysis deals with the sound system of any assumed language. It also debates the rules of
pronunciation, rhyming scheme and utterance of the words in the sentence. Ofuya (2007), describes

Modern City And City Of Ancient China
In 2008, my whole family has moved to Hangzhou, the capital and largest city of Zhejiang Province,
in Eastern China. Hangzhou is a mix of Garden City and Modern City. In the Southern Song Dynasty,
Hangzhou was the capital city of Ancient China. The long, rich history and cultural connotation make
Hang prominent, as well as a necessary terminus of the Grand Canal. Nowadays, Hangzhou keeps its
rich historical elements, also developments with modernization construction.
Back to my home description, my family moved to an apartment, named Yinma Apartment, located at
the East of Hangzhou, surrounding commercial center and education center. As a typical Modern
Architecture, the buildings follow famous architect Louis Sullivan s concept, form follows function .
The design attempts to use simple techniques to express the human characteristics of the area. Also, by
the way of repeating the same design in four buildings, a strong sense of community is explored.
Meanwhile, the construction represents Prairie Style. Under the spirit of Frank Lloyd Wright, the
architects expressed ideas that linked nature and common space, for example, large area of garden,
landscape lobbies, boulevards, open floors with plants. While, the interior of my home was designed
by my father, an interior designer. Within the love of Chinese culture, the design of interior follows
Modern Chinese Style. The designs require the knowledge of understanding both traditional Chinese

Fantasy League Book Themes
Essay
Fantasy League, by Mike Lupica, is a realistic fiction novel about a young boy named Charlie Gaines
who helps the owner of a professional football team find needed players. Charlie Gaines is a 7th
grader who is a backup linebacker for his school football team and a genius when it comes to fantasy
football and trivia. He talks to the owner of the LA Bulldogs, a fictional NFL team, and suggests
various players to sign, earning him fame and the team a chance to make it to the playoffs for the first
time in franchise history. The theme of Fantasy League, which is that things are not always as they
appear, is demonstrated and illustrated by the characters, the plot, and the setting in the novel.
The first element of the novel that conveys the plot is is the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The setting of the novel is in Los Angeles in a number of places, including a professional and a school
football field, a school, and multiple houses. This shows that extraordinary and unusual things can
happen anywhere, even in the most common places such as school and people s homes. (Lupica)
Another detail this portrays is that in LA, the football team is not very good and doesn t win a lot of
games. Throughout the story, in the setting of LA, things seem bleak for the Bulldogs, as they are
every year, but the team still keep going and turns out to be a playoff caliber team. (Lupica 143, 240)
Lastly, the setting of LA and Hollywood tends to be about people wanting and having fame, but this
time, that is not the case. Charlie Gaines is not the type of character or person who is generally seen
living in Hollywood, one who wants fame and can t get enough of it once he s got it. He is in the
spotlight in the novel, and can t wait to change that, asking for advice on how to stop receiving
attention and stopping his social media posts. (Lupica 131) The theme of Mike Lupica s Fantasy

Finally, Company Size, Industry, Company Ownership, Organizational Design (Czinkota et al., 2010),
and Firm Age are introduced in the model to control for factors beyond relationships that could
influence the dependent variable of performance resilience. Data Analysis The research method relies
upon the general methodological framework used by Gittell et al. (2006) in the study of the airlines
industry resilience to the terrorist attacks of 9/11. This exploratory archival data analysis employs
quantitative statistical techniques from the terrorism and international business literature stream.
Initially, correlation analysis between the operationalized independent variables, moderating variables,
control variables and the dependent variable will be conducted, using Pearson Correlation Coefficients
as a measure, to identify and evaluate non causal associations and strengths of relationships between
variables. In addition, scatterplots would be created of the variables to determine whether linear
relationships exist. An analysis of variance (ANOVA) would be used as the general structure for
statistical testing of the conceptual model, shown in Figure 4, using the F test. Moreover, the F test
would be an initial overall inference test of the operationalized conceptual model. Furthermore,
collinearity diagnostics tests for multi collinearity on the independent and moderating variables will be
performed using Variance Inflation Factors as a gauge to assess any overlap or

How Did The Kokoda War Affect Australia
Events in the Pacific War led to Australia being involved in the battles of Kokoda, along with other
Pacific countries. This resulted in many post war impacts on Australia. The battle of Kokoda had a
significant impact in the war in the Pacific and Australia, ruining but yet building civilisations and
making history within countries.
Japans determination to take over the Pacific in late 1941 and early 1942, led to the Kokoda jungle
war in Papua New Guinea in July 1942. For the first two years of the Pacific war Japan gradually took
over South East Asia Colonial territories, especially the Singapore Peninsula. During 1941 Japanese
forces quickly and successfully occupied Malaya, Singapore, Hong Kong, Philippines, Guam and

Many New Guineans allied with both sides. As shown in figure 5 Australian and Papuans allied on the
Kokoda trail Ewer (2011). The Australians fought appallingly for the next four months, Australia put
up a stubborn battle, but unfortunately fell and led Japan to capture Lae, Salamaua and Gona in July
1942, this was the official start and first defeats of the Kokoda War ss shown in the map by Hillman
(2012), Figure 2. In August 1942 the Japanese set across the Owen Stanley ranges to try and reach
their main goal, which was to attack Port Moresby. Hillman (2012) states that The Kokoda Trail is the
last place any solider would want to fight, almost sheer mountain sides climb up into the mist through
dense tangles of tropical vines, ferns and jungle forest. When it rains the slopes become rivers of mud.
The trail that the Japanese took became known as the Kokoda trail. Within six months the trail became
soaked with the blood of thousands of Australian and Japanese soldiers. By September the Japanese
were exhausted and not used to having to fight hard across mountains and they had run out of many
supplies as identified by Kokoda (n.d). Ewer (2011) outlines that in October 1942, the Australian
troops allied to USA pushed the Japanese back along the Kokoda trail to bases on the Sonoma Sea
Coast, they went on to take the Japanese bases of Gona, Buna and Sananada. The Japanese were no
longer in any position to take Port Moresby and Australia. Australian troops slowly but surely took
back Papa New Guinea as the Japanese fled back over the mountains in defeat. The aftermath of this
war and Japanese first defeat led to various impacts on

Explain Why Adult Interactions with Children Are Important...
M1. Explain why adult interactions with children are important part of supporting their learning
Adult interaction is the key to measure a child s development. It helps understand the importance of
analysing children s progress and achievement. All children are different and unique. Interaction helps
children build stable, healthy and satisfying relationship and close bonding with their family, friends,
classmates and care takers (social development). They learn to cooperate and work as part of team.
Interaction creates awareness of a child s development, strengths, needs, interest and most importantly
in identifying areas of improvement, on the basis of which we can decide whether the child is ready

Interact with the child help him to take responsibility for task such as dressing up, feeding and tidying
up which encourage to develop their self reliance.
At children s invitation we can participate in their games, at their level and play along, suggesting new
ideas and prompting for further ideas while continuing the same activity. We need to manage their
routine such as the duration of play. We can assess their behaviours (emotional environment) also. We
are a role model and hence our behaviour pattern can guide them to an acceptable level. We need to
interact positively with children as they observe and learn to talk and act with warmth and respect
towards others or develop patience. We need to sympathise, understand their point of view and avoid
being judgemental of their actions and thoughts. It gives a feeling of importance and helps the child
open up and share more information.
We can provide additional support to children with slow motor skills and help them overcome
frustration. For example, if they find writing difficult, a keyboard can be used to simplify the task. Or,
motivate them to read by providing books that they like such as those of current super heroes. We help
children to record what they have discovered or achieved in an activity (creating wall chart and
displaying their work in that area where everyone can access it).
Interaction helps understand why a child may find an activity difficult and enable us to help

C. Cavafy s Ugly Duckling
A man decided he want to travel to many places around the world. The final destination was to come
back home. But when he did he found no real satisfaction in traveling to those places. He had spent his
time in those place not paying attention to his surroundings he just came to say he came with no other
need or want to be there. And as the man looked back he wished he had done something different.
Then what would make that Journey a worthwhile one and what prepares us for the destination. The
journey matters more than the destination when you learn and grow from the journey.
We will not always have the chance to go on a journey so when we can embrace it. In a poem written

Research Paper On Jean Auguste Ingres
Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres was born on August 29, 1780 in Montauban, France. His mother,
Anne Moulet, was the daughter of a successful wigmaker and was illiterate. His father, Jean Marie
Joseph Ingres, was an jack of all trades artist; he was a painter, sculptor, stonemason, and musician.
Ingres first teacher in the arts was his father, who encouraged him in drawing and music. In 1786, he
started studying at the local school, l École des Frères de l Education Chretienne. Unfortunately, the
school was closed in 1791 due to the French Revolution. The same year, Ingres father took him to

Ingres would leave for Rome just before the Salon, after proposing to Marie Anne Julie Forestier, a
painter and musician. At the Salon, critics harshly reviewed Ingres paintings. Ingres style
characterized by solid lines and colors, spatial and anatomical manipulation, and lots of detail was
allegedly too gothic for the times and was a regression to the past. Ingres was deeply offended by this
criticism and refused to return to Paris, a decision that ended his engagement. In Rome, Ingres
continued to create paintings to send to Paris, and they continued to receive harsh criticism for his
classical style. In 1811, Ingres completed his masterpiece (final piece as a student to prove mastery of
a trade), Jupiter and Thetis, which was also received harshly by critics. In 1813 Ingres married
Madeleine Chapelle, and in 1814 Ingres traveled to Naples to paint Queen Caroline Murat.
Unfortunately, the Murat dynasty collapsed the following year and Ingres was never paid. This,
coupled with the fall of Napoleon, left Ingres effectively stuck in Rome without any patronage. He
survived by painting portraits for tourists, which he deeply resented, viewing these portraits as menial

Marijuana Use among High School Seniors in the United States Marijuana Use Marijuana use among high school seniors in the United States has been on the rise causing greater concerns for addiction and health concerns among teenagers. After prohibition, marijuana markets started to emerge in cities. Harry Anslinger, Federal Narcotics Commissioner, alleged marijuana as being responsible for violent cases and waged war against marijuana in 1933. For Barth, the Bible is not itself the revelation of God. Rather, it is the record of the revelation of God. It is a way by which the church recalls and attests to God s work in the past (284). In reality, there are probably billions of people going about their daily lives using technology while simultaneously believing in the supernatural. The problem seems not to be with the technology itself, but with a certain philosophy that has placed the technology within a certain context for certain people. Namely, metaphysical naturalism. The task of Christianity, then, is to combat this philosophy, not destroy itself from within by removing most of its truth content. For, while Bultmann does not think that the essence of Christianity is contained in the mythology, in this he is mistaken. It may be possible to draw a philosophy from Christian principles, ideas and stories, but this is not Christianity. Christianity must be bound up in things like the atonement and the resurrection. Without these, you merely have a life philosophy and ethics which is similar to a Christian philosophy and ethics, but comes from a different source. There is, however, here something that may be instructive. While Bultmann s basic assumptions are wrong, it is possible that along the road of his demythologization he will uncover important parts of a Christian philosophy of life. They did not particularly care if that was a false interpretation of the way life really was. When men such as Frank Norris, the author of The Octopus, wrote angrily of the injustices and poverty to be found in America, readers turned away. The Octopus made them change their minds. The course of the novel and the reality of its characters held the readers attention. It is so powerful a book that people had to care about the wheat growers, almost against their wishes. Their solution to the crisis was to keep magnifying it, until it ruined the farmers. Once the railroad raised the price for the land, the farmers could not afford to buy. They proceeded to create dummy buyers, fictitious settlers who they created to come in and buy the land. Soon after Delany, a ranch worker was fired, the railroad used him to act as a dummy buyer and buy the land. There was no way Delany could actually afforded to buy the land on his own; he was obviously acting as the railroad s pawn, sent to aggravate the ranchers who leased farms from the railroad. The railroad also tampered with other types of characters in the story. Dyke was fired from his job at the railroad after he refused to work for the rates of a man doing half the work he was doing. Then after Dyke mortgaged his land to the railroad, they raised the rates on the crop he was producing. They drove him to poverty and when he tried to take back what they had stolen from him by robbing money from one of their trains, they had him thrown in jail for life. This is another example of how Norris evinces the railroads unethical treatment of the common man in California at the time.Shelgrim, the executive of the P. and S.W. tried to justify the railroad s actions, and in a way, pass on the responsibility, by calling the railroad a force, something that he had no control over. In the nursing field, as students we are required to learn the human anatomy, pathophysiology, and pharmacology to apply it to practice. Prior to reading Thinking as a Nurse, I had already developed a notion of what it meant to think like a nurse. Thinking like a nurse in my own terms, means to know how the body functions, general concepts, and lab values to ensure the safety of my patients. In the book it discusses that being a nurse does not only require a skill set, but to analyze situations. I believe it is important to always analyze situations, but having skills that you are able to perform is crucial in nursing. Without knowing how to perform certain tasks precisely, you are placing your patient at risk for harm. For example, skills such sterile dressing, changing wounds, and inserting a catheter are all very important. Without the knowledge and ability to do those skills effectively, it puts the patients at harm. While I do understand what the author is trying to say, I still believe technical skills are not a distraction. Putting information together is also very important, but I believe making sure your skills are performable is very critical. Also, I disagree that memorization is not needed in nursing. The nursing field requires memorization and also applying the information. But, if you can t remember a pathophysiology, how are you able to apply it to a patient? You must first memorize how the body functions, and then how it can have abnormalities. This is advantage to my patients, because it gives me a baseline. Once I understood what body function is not functioning correctly, I am then able to review the labs necessary. I do agree with the concept that the nurse has to think like a nurse. This is important because if you are oblivious to patient safety then you are increasing the chance of harm happening to patients. It is also important to be thoughtful of our position, in the relationship of patient and nurse. We are obligated by law to carry out our responsibilities effectively. Being mindful reduces the likelihood of medication errors, and also reduces the chance of infection. Additionally, I do agree that nursing requires teamwork. This quote expresses Kingston s fervor for writing and storytelling outside of her short story White Tigers from the Woman Warrior , which emphasizes the importance of literature, which is her art, by retelling her own childhood as the fairy tale of the Woman Warrior, Fa Mu Lan, and connecting it back to her own life. The introductory paragraphs, coupled with the word carving scene and the concluding final paragraphs, evoke Fa Mu Lan and present Maxine s life as analogous to Fa Mu Lan s life story. While it is understood that they did not know each other, Maxine complicates this relationship , for lack of a better word, by using a first person narrative as opposed to a third person narrative while retelling the fairy tale , which in turn complicates subjectivity of Maxine, and the relationship between Maxine and Fa Mu Lan. • 28. Fantasy League Book Themes Essay Fantasy League, by Mike Lupica, is a realistic fiction novel about a young boy named Charlie Gaines who helps the owner of a professional football team find needed players. Charlie Gaines is a 7th grader who is a backup linebacker for his school football team and a genius when it comes to fantasy football and trivia. He talks to the owner of the LA Bulldogs, a fictional NFL team, and suggests various players to sign, earning him fame and the team a chance to make it to the playoffs for the first time in franchise history. The theme of Fantasy League, which is that things are not always as they appear, is demonstrated and illustrated by the characters, the plot, and the setting in the novel. The first element of the novel that conveys the plot is is the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The setting of the novel is in Los Angeles in a number of places, including a professional and a school football field, a school, and multiple houses. This shows that extraordinary and unusual things can happen anywhere, even in the most common places such as school and people s homes. (Lupica) Another detail this portrays is that in LA, the football team is not very good and doesn t win a lot of games. Throughout the story, in the setting of LA, things seem bleak for the Bulldogs, as they are every year, but the team still keep going and turns out to be a playoff caliber team. (Lupica 143, 240) Lastly, the setting of LA and Hollywood tends to be about people wanting and having fame, but this time, that is not the case. Charlie Gaines is not the type of character or person who is generally seen living in Hollywood, one who wants fame and can t get enough of it once he s got it. He is in the spotlight in the novel, and can t wait to change that, asking for advice on how to stop receiving attention and stopping his social media posts. • 29. Study Of The Airline Industry Resilience And The Terrorist... Finally, Company Size, Industry, Company Ownership, Organizational Design (Czinkota et al., 2010), and Firm Age are introduced in the model to control for factors beyond relationships that could influence the dependent variable of performance resilience. Data Analysis The research method relies upon the general methodological framework used by Gittell et al. (2006) in the study of the airlines industry resilience to the terrorist attacks of 9/11. This exploratory archival data analysis employs quantitative statistical techniques from the terrorism and international business literature stream. Initially, correlation analysis between the operationalized independent variables, moderating variables, control variables and the dependent variable will be conducted, using Pearson Correlation Coefficients as a measure, to identify and evaluate non causal associations and strengths of relationships between variables. In addition, scatterplots would be created of the variables to determine whether linear relationships exist. An analysis of variance (ANOVA) would be used as the general structure for statistical testing of the conceptual model, shown in Figure 4, using the F test. Moreover, the F test would be an initial overall inference test of the operationalized conceptual model. Furthermore, collinearity diagnostics tests for multi collinearity on the independent and moderating variables will be performed using Variance Inflation Factors as a gauge to assess any overlap or ... • 30. How Did The Kokoda War Affect Australia Events in the Pacific War led to Australia being involved in the battles of Kokoda, along with other Pacific countries. This resulted in many post war impacts on Australia. The battle of Kokoda had a significant impact in the war in the Pacific and Australia, ruining but yet building civilisations and making history within countries. Japans determination to take over the Pacific in late 1941 and early 1942, led to the Kokoda jungle war in Papua New Guinea in July 1942. The Australians fought appallingly for the next four months, Australia put up a stubborn battle, but unfortunately fell and led Japan to capture Lae, Salamaua and Gona in July 1942, this was the official start and first defeats of the Kokoda War ss shown in the map by Hillman (2012), Figure 2. In August 1942 the Japanese set across the Owen Stanley ranges to try and reach their main goal, which was to attack Port Moresby. Hillman (2012) states that The Kokoda Trail is the last place any solider would want to fight, almost sheer mountain sides climb up into the mist through dense tangles of tropical vines, ferns and jungle forest. When it rains the slopes become rivers of mud. The trail that the Japanese took became known as the Kokoda trail. Within six months the trail became soaked with the blood of thousands of Australian and Japanese soldiers. By September the Japanese were exhausted and not used to having to fight hard across mountains and they had run out of many supplies as identified by Kokoda (n.d). Ewer (2011) outlines that in October 1942, the Australian troops allied to USA pushed the Japanese back along the Kokoda trail to bases on the Sonoma Sea Coast, they went on to take the Japanese bases of Gona, Buna and Sananada. The Japanese were no longer in any position to take Port Moresby and Australia. Australian troops slowly but surely took back Papa New Guinea as the Japanese fled back over the mountains in defeat. The aftermath of this war and Japanese first defeat led to various impacts on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Explain why adult interactions with children are important part of supporting their learning Adult interaction is the key to measure a child s development. It helps understand the importance of analysing children s progress and achievement. All children are different and unique. Interaction helps children build stable, healthy and satisfying relationship and close bonding with their family, friends, classmates and care takers (social development). They learn to cooperate and work as part of team. Interaction creates awareness of a child s development, strengths, needs, interest and most importantly in identifying areas of improvement, on the basis of which we can decide whether the child is ready for next activity and for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Interact with the child help him to take responsibility for task such as dressing up, feeding and tidying up which encourage to develop their self reliance. At children s invitation we can participate in their games, at their level and play along, suggesting new ideas and prompting for further ideas while continuing the same activity. We need to manage their routine such as the duration of play. We can assess their behaviours (emotional environment) also. We are a role model and hence our behaviour pattern can guide them to an acceptable level. We need to interact positively with children as they observe and learn to talk and act with warmth and respect towards others or develop patience. We need to sympathise, understand their point of view and avoid being judgemental of their actions and thoughts. It gives a feeling of importance and helps the child open up and share more information. We can provide additional support to children with slow motor skills and help them overcome frustration. For example, if they find writing difficult, a keyboard can be used to simplify the task. Or, motivate them to read by providing books that they like such as those of current super heroes. We help children to record what they have discovered or achieved in an activity (creating wall chart and displaying their work in that area where everyone can access it). Interaction helps understand why a child may find an activity difficult and enable us to help ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

But when he did he found no real satisfaction in traveling to those places. He had spent his time in those place not paying attention to his surroundings he just came to say he came with no other need or want to be there. And as the man looked back he wished he had done something different. Then what would make that Journey a worthwhile one and what prepares us for the destination. The journey matters more than the destination when you learn and grow from the journey. We will not always have the chance to go on a journey so when we can embrace it. In a poem written by C.P. Cavafy it talks about the importance of journeys. It talks about the importance of enjoying the journey and of finding and buying mementos to remind them of their journey. • 33. Research Paper On Jean Auguste Ingres Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres was born on August 29, 1780 in Montauban, France. His mother, Anne Moulet, was the daughter of a successful wigmaker and was illiterate. His father, Jean Marie Joseph Ingres, was an jack of all trades artist; he was a painter, sculptor, stonemason, and musician. Ingres first teacher in the arts was his father, who encouraged him in drawing and music. In 1786, he started studying at the local school, l École des Frères de l Education Chretienne. Unfortunately, the school was closed in 1791 due to the French Revolution. The same year, Ingres father took him to Toulouse, where he enrolled in the Academie Royale de Peinture, Sculpture, et Architecture. There he studied under the sculptor Jean Pierre Vigan and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ingres would leave for Rome just before the Salon, after proposing to Marie Anne Julie Forestier, a painter and musician. At the Salon, critics harshly reviewed Ingres paintings. Ingres style characterized by solid lines and colors, spatial and anatomical manipulation, and lots of detail was allegedly too gothic for the times and was a regression to the past. Ingres was deeply offended by this criticism and refused to return to Paris, a decision that ended his engagement. In Rome, Ingres continued to create paintings to send to Paris, and they continued to receive harsh criticism for his classical style. In 1811, Ingres completed his masterpiece (final piece as a student to prove mastery of a trade), Jupiter and Thetis, which was also received harshly by critics. In 1813 Ingres married Madeleine Chapelle, and in 1814 Ingres traveled to Naples to paint Queen Caroline Murat. Unfortunately, the Murat dynasty collapsed the following year and Ingres was never paid. This, coupled with the fall of Napoleon, left Ingres effectively stuck in Rome without any patronage. He survived by painting portraits for tourists, which he deeply resented, viewing these portraits as menial ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These three principles can guide all the doctors and nurses to put into place the care of Mrs. Wells. Before the doctors had a meeting to discuss the situation with Betsy, Matt, and Robert they came to an agreement that Mrs. Wells was dying and even if they did try to resuscitate Mrs. Wells in the end the expected outcome is still going to be death.
