The Simpsons, Family Guy, Aladdin, And All The Scary Movie...
There are many movies, books, and TV shows that make fun of evil. The Simpsons, Family Guy,
Aladdin, and all the Scary Movie movies. There are numerous ways in which each makes fun of
evil. Scary Movie alone uses numerous ways to mock evil, and turns all these scary, evil things
into something to laugh about. Aladdin has people who are supposed to be evil, and come up with
all these ideas to destroy good, but it always turns around on the evil people and works out for
good. The Simpsonshas an episode where Homer sells his soul for a doughnut, and another episode
where Homer kills Death. These TV shows and movies have something in common though, and that
is the way they belittle evil. Most will have good triumph over evil which, models Augustinian
theodicy. Why do many TV shows and movies ridicule evil? It could be any number of reasons.
Perhaps people didn t want to fear it anymore, and thus, belittled it and took away its power over
people. Maybe it is for any other number of reasons. However, no matter the reason, these numerous
TV shows and movies afore mentioned, mock evil.
In Aladdin, there is a parrot named Iago. Iago is voiced by Gilbert Gottfried and appeared in the
first film as the sidekick to the main antagonist Jafar, and later becomes one of the protagonists
for the rest of the franchise s run. He even leaves Jafar, and goes on to try to cause chaos on his
own while singing I m Looking out for Me. First, the fact one of the main antagonists is a small

Lars Brownworth Lost To The West Summary
Once a Frankish king, Charlemagne was declared the ruler of the Holy Roman Empire in the West
by Pope Leo III, whom he defended in a vicious legal battle (153). This, of course, incited fury in
the East, as the Pope did not truly possess this authority, causing the divide between the Eastern and
Western Christianity to grow further and become more volatile (154). Consequently, when
Charlemagnesent a marriage proposal to Irene and Irene considered accepting, her subjects quickly
overthrew her (154).
As invaders continued to flood the Byzantine Empire, faith in Iconoclasm finally shattered and the
destruction of icons was officially condemned (158 158). Subsequently, under the rule of Emperor
Theophilus, the East experienced an unparalleled ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although comprehensive, Lost to the West covers over a millennium of history in about three

curious adults. Brownworth himself establishes this, writing that he ...used Latinized rather than

Importance Of Love In My Life
I had always loved nature. I always played outside and ran around in the morning to cool off in
the morning dew. It never failed to refresh me off on humid days. As a kid, I always found the
best flowers that were the most beautiful and alive. My mom loved them. Not just, oh cause my
kid gave me some dead dandelions, I ll put them on display. She truly fell in love with them.
Now, eighth grade is just a blur. As soon as my schedule started to begin, I lose more and more
time outside. Those sunny afternoons when I d roll down the steep hill in our backyard. Getting
fresh mowed grass stuck in the massive brown mop on my head. Now, I just have homework all
night. Like all night. I can only watch the neighbor kids from the window. Only wishing I could
tell them what was coming. But I couldn t, I just sat there listening to the birds chirping. I d
never be able to smell the grape vines fresh in the spring. Only in the woods did I feel at home.
Or catch the golden leaves as they fell from the trees in fall. It was like the world was ending, but
at the same time, not ending. So in my opinion, I had to suffer. Samantha Rose Jenkan! My mom
hollered contempt. I perked up immediately like a deer reacting to gun fire. Get down here right
now! Stop moaning like a dying animal! You re in big trouble! Man, she liked to decry. My
immediate reaction was to sit there stunned. I looked down at incomplete homework due
tomorrow. I winced, looking at all the doodles I made everywhere except

Comparing The Midsummer s Night Dream And 500 Days Of Summer
Have you wondered what the true meaning of love is? The meaning of love, between
Shakespearean time and now? Or relationships from the past and now? This comparative essay
will compare relationships between the play; The Midsummer s Night Dream, and 500 days of
Summer. The comparative essay will compare the relationships between Tom and Summer versus
Theseus and Hippolyta, Tom and friends versus Helena and Hermia, Tom and Sister versus Egeus
and Hermia. Both relationships have a connection of either what the relationship is based upon, or
if the relationships are based on true friendship or love. The following paragraphs will further,
compare and contrast relationships between the film and the play.

Hippolyta does not have excitement for their marriage compared to Theseus. The theme, of love
being forced, and the true meaning of love is unclear in this relationship. Is true love formed from
a battle, or is love formed once facing off against an enemy? Whereas, the relationship between Tom
and Summer, contrasted as well as shared commonalities. Consequently, Tom is always going
towards Summer, and attempts to create a relationship purely on love. However, Summer attempts
to make the relationship similar to a friendship. In this scenario as well, love seems unclear. To
continue onwards, both of these characters are unaware what they re true relationship is based on,
and the true meaning of love seems hazy throughout the film. For instance, Tom praises Summer s
good looks and then points out all the negative aspects about her? Therefore, the story

Lady Macbeth Deception
It was a gloomy, cold Monday morning when Lady Macbeth was called into the conference room.
Feeling the confusion in the room, she took a seat at the corner of the table. Everyone was
speaking to one another, trying to understand why they all had been called for a meeting so
unexpectedly, leaving Lady Macbethto sit unaccompanied, the way she enjoyed it. A short man
soon came into the room, catching the attention of all the workers, clearly showing the man s

Gerry Mulligan Essay
Counterpoint in Gerry Mulligan s Compositions and Arrangements
In 1952 Gerald Joseph Gerry Mulligan (1927 1996) started playing at a jazz club in Los Angeles
called The Haig. During that time he met a lot of the best jazz musicians on the West Coast,
including Kenneth Norville Red Norvo , Erroll Garner, Chesney Chet Baker, Milton Shorty
Rogers, Foreststorn Chico Hamilton, Clifford Bud Shank, Keith Red Mitchell, Robert Whitlock,
and also some rising talent of the area. At The Haig, Mulligan created his famous pianoless quartet
with Chico Hamilton on drums, Robert Whitlock on bass, and Chet Baker on trumpet. Mulligan s
idea of having a rhythm section without a chordal instrument (i.e., piano, guitar, vibraphone) was
in part inspired by his desire of using more counterpoint. Having gained a lot of experience as an
arranger and composer with previous projects with Stan Kenton, and Miles Davis, Mulligan wanted
to create a counterpoint oriented jazz group. His quartet became the first polyphonic jazz group
with a contrapuntal style of performing that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

quickly became a best seller in California. This passage is an example of how Mulligan was
creating three voice counterpoint with the quartet; the trumpet played the standard melody, while
the saxophone performed a contrapuntal written line. Meanwhile the bass played a line some times
written, other times improvised. The resulting counterpoint contained a lot of movements and
sonorities commonly avoided in traditional polyphony, but at the same time it became the signature
sound of his

The Roots Of Lean Manufacturing
Production managers are faced with many challenges within their facilities such as managing
inventories, controlling waste, and managing an ever changing production schedule. Managing
product flows can be difficult when balancing supply chain inventories with demand changes or
scheduling problems due to throughput variations. Several methods for managing these challenges
have been developed through the years and each have their own advantages and disadvantages for
different applications. The methods discussed in this paper will be limited to the Theory of
Constraints, Just in Time, and Material Requirements Planning. All three methods are designed to
manage different aspects of a manufacturing facility s product flow but all three were ultimately
developed as an optimization strategy for the manufacturing process. The roots of Lean
Manufacturingis one of the earliest management strategies to be developed to address the
challenges for production control and may well have been the birth of strategic production control
as we know it today.
LEAN MANUFACTURING
At the end of the 18th century Benjamin Franklin wrote about reducing waste in Poor Richard s
Almanac and this may very well have been the starting point for waste reduction thinking. At the
beginning of the 20th century Henry Ford was the first person to truly integrate a production
process with waste reduction, inventory control, and time management in mind. This paved the
way for Lean Manufacturing strategies to

The Poisonwood Bible Book Report
The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver. A book that I never expected to read because of
my stance on avoiding religious books, but oddly enough I could not put it down. The book is a
representation of culture arrogance, racism, greed, ignorance, and imperialism that occurred
through 1959 and on. The book introduces a religious, missionary familyfrom Georgia who are
headed to the village of Kilanga in Belgium Congo. What grabbed my attention in the beginning is
that each member in the family, which happens to be all girls, has their turn to tell their story
through their eyes, except oddly enough the overly religious evangelical Baptist father, who s only
purpose is to spread the name and views of God to the Congolese.
Each daughter is different from the other. You have the oldest, who s to ignorant to try to
understand the culture of the Congolese and just wanted to go back to the US where her beauty
belonged. Two twins who are complete opposites because of a disease that harmed the younger s
mind rendering her crippled and mute, but gave her the most beautiful and dark view of the
world. The oldest twin who believed every word her father says is right and plans to follow in his

Flynas could stand to make a lot of profit if it were to partner with Postal services like Aramex,
Saudi Post and DHL. The reason behind this is that, for postal services it is a big expense to
manage a fleet of its own for pick up and delivery of cargo. Partnering with Flynas gives these
postal services the advantage of not having to deal with the expense of a fleet as it would rely on
Flynas fleet. Flynas would have to make very little changes to its fleet to accommodate postal
services as most planes are already designed to carry a lot of cargo for the passengers. Decreasing
cargo charges while gaining contracts from postal services would also facilitate Flynas in achieving
its goals.
The airline industry market is not a saturated one. There are very little airlines that provide the
same service that Flynas provides. While there is value and a certain degree of safety in
diversification, for Flynas to diversify would mean to take focus and financial resources away
from its core business. Currently, in its category, Flynas is leading the market and stands to enter
a few other market segments as well. However, if it were to diversify and take focus away from
its core business it would become a target of the new airlines that are trying to enter the

Theme Of A Very Old Man With Enormous Wings
It says, ..but the poor fellow is so old that the rain knocked him down, ( Marquez 363). This
phrase is critical to the theme of the story as it provides the readers information on the Angel and
allows them to understand he was frail and week. This also gives the people who found him a
gateway to a larger domain of opportunities to obtain money. In the short story, A Very Old Man
With Enormous Wings. Gabriel Marquez, develops the character of the Angel through the use of
symbols, character, and plot to demonstrate encounters with those who are weak and how the
Angel overcomes adversity through courage and strength. First the author uses symbols to help
describe the Angel and portray how weak the angel actually is. The Angel s wings symbolize
strength and power. While the Angel is in the cage his wings are beat up and he is weak, but over
time his wings begin to heal and he becomes more powerful. It says, ... and at the beginning of

War Begins When Opinions Differ
When opinions differ, wars begin. When war begins, blood usually sheds; this is not the case for
the Cold War. From 1945 until 1991, the United States and the Soviet Union were in a rivalry; a
constant state of hostility towards one another. Although the U.S. and the Soviet Union never
directly engaged in military action, there was a lot going on behind both sides of the Iron Curtain.
The Cold Warwas never a battle itself; however, it was made up of both minor and major battles
within, to include the Korean War, Vietnam War and the War in Afghanistan. The Cold War
presented a revolutionary arms race from which powerful defense organizations with permanent
foundations raised sky high on both sides of the world. Instead of fighting on an actual
battleground, the U.S. and the Soviet Union competed through political and economic ideologies
and developments within their countries (Pierpaoli, 2010).
Throughout the ending of World War II, it was made obvious the Communist controlled East and
Capitalist West needed their intelligence organizations overhauled and prepared for an actual
physical war. To have knowledge of what an opponent is capable of developing makes it easier to
counteract and outperform them. To obtain intelligence is to have an advanced knowledge, which
is why intelligence collection was revolutionized during the Cold War. Throughout the Cold War,
the United States most successful intelligence came from satellites. Signal intelligence was

Coral Reef Impact
According to NOAA a coral reef is a ridge of rock in the sea formed by the growth and deposit of
coral. Stony coral polyps secrete a calcium carbonate skeleton that over many years builds up to
create the foundation which all coral lives on. These limestone remains are the building blocks for
coral colonies supporting millions of polyps which can weigh several tons. Having said that, coral
reefs grow very slowly about 0.5cm 2cm per year, meaning that all damage and death coral colonies

Two Theories Of Utilitarian And Retributive Punishment
The concept of punishment exists in many different forms, each with conflicting views on how to
best approach an offence committed by individuals. Two theories stand at the forefront of
punishment being that of the Utilitarian, and Retributive theories. Each theory presents its own
idea on how punishment ought to be carried out and the core reasoning behind it. The two theories
are also debated within our own Canadian legal system which is referred to as: The Criminal Code
of Canada, where it details the different principles and procedures when sentencing an individual
who has committed a specific offence with guidelines for what sanction should be given. Such
principles/procedures reflect various factors within the two theories, and have undergone different
fluctuations for which theory has dominated throughout history, but have been influenced more by
one theory than from the other. Generally speaking, punishmentis invoked upon offenders for the
pursuit of the common good of mankind for a society that prospers, and not one that is hindered.
Two primary theorists each lead one of the theories of punishment and what its purpose is; one who
stands from a Utilitarian view is Jeremy Bentham, and the other being Immanuel Kant who focuses
on a more Retributive theory of punishment.
The two theories of Utilitarian and Retributive Punishment each have their own views on what the
purpose of punishment is, and of how it is to be invoked in the case of a breach of rules by an
offender. Jeremy Bentham makes his debut by focusing on the theory of Utilitarianism which is
subdivided into two other theories; the Theory of the Good (also referred to as: Hedonism), where
good is pleasure and evil is pain; and the Theory of the Right (also known as: Consequentialism),
which outlines that the right action is that which produces the maximum good of all available
actions. Bentham as a theorist, believes that the primary goal of laws is to prevent wrongful actions
where he summarizes in his opening to Chapter XIII of An Introduction to the Principles of Morals
and Legislation: The general object which all laws have, or ought to have, in common, is to
augment the total happiness of the community; and therefore, in the first

Notes On Self Reliance By Ralph Waldo Emerson Essay
Dynasty Allen English 2270 10/3/2016 Journal Entries (1 5) Analytic Journal #1: Self Reliance
Self Reliance is a transcendentalist essay by Ralph Waldo Emerson. The essay was published in
1841 during the transcendentalist movement. It was a way for writers to respond to or protest
the general state of intellectualism and even spirituality. He speaks in this essay about ways to
avoid conforming and also how each person should follow their own instincts and ideas.
Emerson split many of the topics in this essay into different sections. In one of the sections he
speaks of the relationship between each individual and non conformity and how each person can
be self reliant. Self Reliance favors individualism, which promotes that people use their own
thoughts and desires rather than that of a group. In the beginning of the essay Emerson says, To
believe in your own thought, to believe that what is true for you in your private heart is true for
all men, that is genius. His statement captures the essence of what he means by self reliance,

Fluoridation Of Drinking Water Fluoridation Is A Great...
Introduction
AS we are all know public health deals with identifying and preventing the disease among the
community . Public health refers to the science and art of preventing disease, prolonging life and
promoting health through organized efforts and informed choices of society, organizations, public
and private, communities and individuals. It is concerned with threats to health based on
population health analysis. Some of the events that played a major role in the improvement of
public health are immunization , flouridation of drinking water to prevent dental caries , family
planning and so on .
Body
Let us see about the two major events that played a major role in the public health along with the
evolution of science .They are Flouridation of Drinking water and Family planning .
FLUORIDATION OF DRINKING WATER
Fluoridation of group drinking water is a main consideration in charge of the decrease in dental
caries (tooth rot) . The historical backdrop of water fluoridation is a great case of clinical perception
prompting epidemiologic examination and group based general wellbeing intercession. Albeit other
fluoride containing items are accessible, water fluoridation remains the most fair and practical
strategy for conveying fluoride to all individuals from most groups, paying little respect to age,
instructive achievement, or wage level.

Exxon Valdez Research Paper
Exxon Valdez was an oil spill that happened in Alaska, when a tanker ran ashore. The ship
crashed in Prince William Sound, Alaska. The incident is called Exxon Valdez, because it was a
ship by Exxon (the company) in Valdez (the area). The tanker was in Alaska for repairs, and then
ran aground in Valdez. The oil spill affected the Prince William Sound, which used to be scenic.
Exxon Valdez was an oil tanker that crashed on the beaches of Alaska. The blame goes to the
captain of the vessel, because there is proof that he was drinking at the time of the incident. By the
time they had the means to clean up the spill, it had grown beyond being cleaned. The spill let
loose 42 million liters of crude oil, that contaminated 1,990 kilometers of shoreline.

The Bluest Eyes
In the Bluest Eyes, Tori Morrison portrays society s disgusting attributes such as sexual violence,
racism and trauma by examining the life of Pecola. Pecola s obsession of having blue eyes has
grown throughout the novel. At first she believes by consuming candy she can one day have
blue eyes. After Cholly rapes her, she believes her eyes have actually turned blue. At first blue
eyes in the novel symbolizes society s beauty standard, which is whiteness. For someone to be
considered beautiful or lovable is based on their skin tone and their features, which is why the
women in the town try to get rid of their funkiness. However, after the rape, the blue eyes are a

Pecola does not have any friends she is shunned by her family and society. The line brings more
emphasize to how truly alone Pecola is in life. The good friend the quote refers to is Pecola

psychosis were she can t differentiate between what is real or what is fake. The friend she
believes she has acquired brings notice to how Pecola did not mention to her mother how
Cholly raped her on the couch. Pecola says it s because her mother did not believe her the first
time Cholly raped her. This shows how society is failing Pecola, which is what drives her to this
mad state. Tori Morrison write s We were so beautiful when we stood astride her ugliness. her

awkwardness made us think we has a sense of humor. Her inarticulateness made us believe we

their insecurities and any negative feelings onto her since she was an easy target. In a way they
might have thought they were helping her by breaking her down and destroying her hope. Cholly

Factors Affecting Patients With Chronic Idiopathic Neck Pain
1.Title: Does the number of visits of mobilizations influence the MCID* on pain improvement in
patients with chronic idiopathic neck pain A cross sectional study?
*MCID= Minimum clinically important difference
2.The specific aim of this cross sectional study is to reduce cost and improve pain outcome in
patients with chronic idiopathic neck pain (CINP). To do this, the study will examine whether the
number of visits of mobilization (hypothesis) affect the MCID on pain reduction for patients to
begin exercising. In addition, the study will also identify which patients are likely to respond or not
to mobilization based on their conditioned pain modulation (CPM) profile? (research questions).
These findings could potentially cut costs ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Providing 1 session of joint mobilization has been shown to immediately improve the impaired
CPM in those with knee osteoarthritis (Courtney et al., 2016) compared to placebo.
Some patients with chronic pain related to knee osteoarthritis have impaired CPM while others do
not (Courtney et al 2016)
However, because Courtney et al did not apply joint mobilization to those whose CPM is not
impaired, it is unclear if joint mobilization is or is not effective in changing pain in those with
normal functioning CPM
More importantly, it is not clear whether the positive results Courtney et al 2016 achieved in
chronic pain related to knee osteoarthritis carries over to patients with CINP.
4. Scope of the problem
The high cost of CINP may be related to the fact that these patients typically seek on average 5
providers over 21 visits every year and receive largely ineffective treatments (Carlesso et al., 2014).
Heat, NSAID, exercise, cold and spinal manipulation/mobilization are the most common treatments
received (Goode et al., 2010).
Only exercise and spinal manipulation/mobilization, however, have good evidence for effectiveness
based on multiple systematic reviews and meta analyses.
In fact, current practice guidelines suggest combining exercise and spinal mobilization for better
pain and functional outcomes than mobilization or exercise alone.

The case chronicles the new leadership team s approach to transforming the basic functions of the
group, while concurrently managing the old processes until the new ones are operable. The
challenge is complicated by substantial resistance to change by executives in powerful operating
divisions affected by the compliance responsibilities of the CDBG. Communication and
collaboration across organizational silos and the role of powerful sponsors are key elements of
the transformation. The case ends with a summary of early wins for the unit, and a list of
challenges its leaders will face over the next few years.

Dulce Et Decorum Est Response
Wilfred Owen s poem, Dulce Et Decorum Est, describes the perspective of a soldier fighting in
World War I. In the first stanza, he portrays the current conditions of his comrades and allies,
which he compares to as similar to the appearance of a troubled, old beggar. Together, they are
exhausted, as they force their ways through thick, sludge like mud to get to a place of rest away
from the front line. From that point forward, he and the soldiers continue past the flares launched
by the opposition, which lights them up from behind, causing them to be more easily identifiable,
as well as an easier target. Though weak, and wounded, they still march on. These men are so tired,
in fact, that they were oblivious to the shells coming at them.

Dehumanized By Margaret Atwood
In today s society, especially in the American education system, there is often an emphasis placed
more on math and science, rather than the arts. Similar to Marc Slouka s central argument in
Dehumanized , Atwood agrees that capitalism has led to a culture where it is almost shameful to
pursue the arts and humanities. This conflict is reflected in Margaret Atwoods Oryx and Crake,
where the protagonist struggles to clutch onto the seemingly intangible value of the artsamidst a
capitalist society where scientific innovation is encouraged. However, even after this society s
eradication of anything that cannot turn a profit, Crake s genetic modification, and the destruction
of almost the entire humanrace, the efforts to eliminate the arts were still not effective. In this way,
Atwood argues that it is not wise to attempt to eradicate the arts because the need for self expression
through arts and emotions is embedded in what defines humanity. Atwood uses Oryx and Crake as
a vehicle to stress the importance of valuing the arts and humanities in a capitalist society,
specifically in the education system. After high school, Jimmy attends an arts and humanities
school, which is clearly underfunded and looked down upon. The Martha Graham Academy,
considered the laughing stock of colleges, was quite literally falling apart (185). The underfunding
of perhaps the only arts and humanities school left in this society reflects how useless the general
public deems studying this field

Values Of Compassio Forgiveness
We all have the ability to be compassionate towards others and forgive. Humans are born as
narcissistic beings; from the moment of birth we are selfish to our own needs. Perhaps, it has
survival value. We cry when we are hungry. We do not know or care that our parents might be
busy, in a literal sense, we are capable only of thinking of and responding to our own needs. We
are, as infants, not even capable of realizing that other peoplehave needs, desires, or a life outside
of us. As we grow up over time, ideally, we learn compassion it becomes natural to most of us,
but only to a certain point. As such, most people never genuinely become good at it. Compassion
is the ability to put ourselves in someone else s shoes, imagine things from their perspective, and
then to feel kindness for them and seek understanding of them even if what they do is harmful to
us. This usually goes against our needs and desires, and is at odds with our own experiences....

It does not mean the person occupies the same place in your life; nor does it imply that you carry

you but rather a gift to yourself. The goal of forgiveness is freedom from resentment, bitterness,
anger or hatred (Macaskill, Maltby and Day, 2002). Harbouring these feelings cannot hurt another
person but can cause you great harm. Chapter 7 accurately describes compassion and forgiveness. It
details that the key to compassion and forgiveness lies within caring for others, forgiving the
mistakes of others and mostly importantly forgiving yourself for your own mistakes. Ultimately,

When these droplets settle to the ground, usually they are spread over a wide area, minimizing

in technology, in conjunction with regulatory mandates, have reduced noise impacts steadily over
the last 20 years. This downward trend, which is based on today s evaluation metrics, is expected
to continue through 2025. However, as the volume of operations continues to increase, so too will
the overall noise impact and footprint. One would expect noise standards and models to change

Chinese Culture, Health And Illness
The Chinese culture is built around thousands of years of tradition. Understanding these Chinese
beliefs and social influences may benefit you when attending to someone of this culture.
Values
In Chinese culture, respect towards an authority figure is shown by giving a slight bow and to
avoid making eye contact. If people of the opposite sex make eye contact, it may be considered as a
flirtatious act. It is also inappropriate and rude to address an elder or person of higher status by
their first name. They should be addressed by their designation ( i.e. Mr. Mrs. Miss) unless told
other wise.
Yin Yang
In Chinese culture, health and illness concentrates on the balance between body, mind, and spirit,
expressed as Yin Yang. It symbolizes the idea that for every action, there is an equal and opposite
reaction. There is a belief in part of the Chinese culture, that a physical illness is caused by an
imbalance of Yin Yang.
Beliefs about Blood
Many Chinese tend to be against donating blood because in classical Chinese medicine, blood
is understood as a vital bodily essence. They tend to believe that any loss of blood has the
potential to lead to a long term decline in their health and vitality. There tends to be a fear that
even a small amount of blood loss would affect ones health for a short and long period of time.
This may result in them to take several weeks to rest and consume a special diet.

My Pen Writes In Blue And White By Vincent Cremona
In the last paragraph of the essay My Pen Writes in Blue and White , Vincent Cremona infers that,
through his childhood familiarity with blue collar and white collar working environments, he has
attained an expansive world view that enables him to sympathize with various cultural backgrounds
today. By enveloping this dual mindset of society, Cremona has developed an impartial writingstyle
capable of communicating with a wide variety of backgrounds effectively, whom, in his words,
is to see as either blue, or white, or some shade thereof (195) In other words, the author explains
that he can adopt either method of communication from blue collar and white collar societies
individually, or blend the two styles together. By doing so, Cremona harnesses the authoritative
terminology of white collar speech, while exhibiting the loud and brash nature of blue collar
speech in one format to help achieve the intended audience reaction. (196) This point is
demonstrated in the author s earlier example, where after filing a complaint to an airline while
utilizing this writing format, swift action was taken by the firm to compensate Cremona for his
trouble. Cremona s ability to persuade the airline was due, in part, to the author s ability to convey
emotion plainly and effectively through written words alone, thanks to his utilization of blue collar
speech; Cremona himself views this form of expression as basic, bold, and workman like [sic].

evidence or suspicions of bad practice by colleagues and managers (whistleblowing), or abuse

idividual tells you they are being abused. The key things to do when an individual discloses
abuse is: Assume the person is telling the truth. Speak to them in a clam and sensitive way.
Listen carefully and make sure you record what was said. If the person needs medical attention
you would call the emergency service or call a doctor as appropriate, and inform your line

because the information needs to be accurate, in case it is to be used in a legal investigation or

Description Of The Poem Sunflowers
Sunflowers
Doreen put down the watering can and wrinkled her nose. What a putrid smell, is that a blocked
drain or something? I haven t noticed any funny smells coming from the house lately, have you?
Margaret shook her head, I remember it smelt a bit off out here the other day, but I thoughtmaybe it
was the drain, I did have a look but everything seemed fine. It could be sewage I suppose. She
went back into the chicken shed to feed the hens again, even they looked morose, seemingly aware
the June was no longer around.
I don t know how she managed all of this by herself, said Doreen, as she watered the last of the
sunflowers. It s a full time job in itself. Seriously, this smell is making me wretch, come over here
and see for yourself. I ve never smelt anything like it before.
Margaret walked over to the end of the garden.
Yes, I see what you mean now, it s definitely coming from those sunflowers, they smell as though
they ve gone bad. I didn t think they went off in that way though.
They just look so listless.
I wonder if the soil has gone bad, said Doreen, they look diseased, they ll contaminate the soil and
everything around them will die if we don t take them up now. Do you think we should do that?
Margaret shrugged, they do seem to be attracting an awful lot of flies.
It s unsightly, said Doreen, I m sure June would have done the same.
Oh, god, yes. She wouldn t have wanted anybody to see them in this state, you know how much of

Conflict And What s Dispute
What s Conflict and What s Dispute?
Often time conflict and dispute are terms that are often confused in the field of conflict and
resolution. Yes, many scholars argue that conflict and dispute are terms or concepts that may seem
to have similar meanings but in reality they are much different and frequently misinterpreted very
confusingly. Before we evaluate what is conflict and what is dispute, let s explore key factors that
determine what makes it a conflict and what makes it a dispute.

According to Spangler and Burgess (2012), Costintino and Merchant (1996) defines conflict as
the fundamental disagreement between two parties, of which a dispute is one possible

sense, a conflict can exist without a dispute, but a dispute cannot exist without a conflict (p. 115)
. To simply sum it up, Costintino, Merchant and Yam expressed, a conflict is when individuals

Getting chased by goats was a fun experience. I believe that being cautious and careful is
incredibly important, and to not take warnings lightly. I believe this because being cautious could
save your life and a life of another person. Also, taking warnings lightly could seriously mess
things up for people and cause mild to serious injury. This event happened in San Rafael, Jalisco,
Mexico a couple of summers ago. My mom had just us not to go out and play with the animals, I
was maybe ten or eleven and wanted to go over to the goats to see and pet them. My younger
brother, Demian, and my two cousins were also there, and they too wanted to pet the goats. The
goats were in a rodeo like arena, so we could walk on top of the walls and get to a red platform
overlooking the place. Us seven through eleven year olds jumped off the platform and ran over to
the goats on the end of the other side. When we were maybe ten feet from the goats, they looked
up and saw us, and they began to chase us. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My cousin, Avylis, reached the top of the red platform as I reached about halfway to the
platform, and I also had just passed my cousin, Adrian. It was super exciting and enjoyable, but
terrifying at the same time. It was hot outside so I was already sweating and the being chased by
goats didn t make it better. As I Grabbed the latter to go up, my brother reached the top, but my
cousin was still maybe thirty feet away. Nevertheless, he made it and we went inside and told our
parents of the adventure we had just had. My mom was kind of angry because she told us not to
what we had just done and that we should more

What Did You Do Before You Came To Study Essay
What Did You Do Before You Came To TRC To Study Health Social Care?
Before I started TRC I studied and completed my GCSE s at Oakwood High School; the subjects
I studied at Oakwood included triple science, graphics, psychology and art. I especially enjoyed
art the most, I enjoyed drawing and creating new pieces of work and also found drawing very
relaxing and therapeutic to do. Another one of my favourite subjects to study was psychology as I
learnt a lot of new interesting things about the human brain such as how the memory works, and
about human behaviour. Another subject I enjoyed was science, particularly in which chemistry.
My favourite part was the practical work which was generally mixing and combining different
elements together ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I know I would enjoy these types of jobs as I find them very interesting to learn and know about
and because they are jobs that I have always been interested in from an early age. I also like the
idea of being able to help someone for the better and even saving their life. To help me get into one
of the jobs in these professions I chose psychology a level, and health and social care level 3 at
college. These subjects will hopefully get me into university and a job that I am wanting to go into.
Current Skills You Can Use In Health Social Care:
I can confidently work under pressure and finish my work to the best of my ability and on time.
I have good time management skills and know to always be on time so I don t miss out on any
key opportunities or work that may be important or efficient. I am a creative person so I am
quite good at making and listing ideas for things. I am good at being able to adapt and change to
fit my environment or work. I am also good at making the right and appropriate decisions for
things that tend to work a lot/most of the time. All these skills are important in a health and social
care environment and setting as they show that I can be on time for anything and that I am good at
making the correct decisions for myself and that I am also confident and trust myself, so others can
also trust me.
Current Self Awareness:
I am aware that I need to work to the best of my ability

Write An Essay On The Taliban
The Taliban is a group of fundamentalist Sunni Muslim militants, they were living in Afghanistan.
The word Taliban means students a name use because many of the original members studied in
Pakistani religious schools called madrassas and other members come from the ranks of the
mujahedeen, the vast majority of Talibanis ethnic Pashtun. They came to power during Afghanistans
long civil war. The Taliban managed 90% of the country s territory, their policies, including their
treatment of women, support of terrorists, and using violence against people.
The Taliban controlled most of Afghanistan from 1996 to late 2001. The United States of America
and international coalition forces expelled them from power following the attacks of September ...

The Taliban was not goal not only to rewrite the Afghanistan s past, but also formed part of

subject to ethnic cleansing and massacred. Hazara men, women and children were killed. Also,
under the Taliban regime, women s rights were severely limited, and modesty police enforced strict
rules about what women could wear, study, go outside, and work. Men were expected to grow
traditional beards, and cultural expression in Afghanistan became virtually nonexistent. Afghans
were not allowed to play music, fly kites, clap at sports events, or to engage in a variety of other
activities which are permitted in other Muslim nations. The unemployment was skyrocketed. The
Afghanis people faced humanitarian violence caused by the Taliban, thousands of them lost their
lives and thousands of them became a refugee. Refugees continued to flow into Pakistan, Iran and
other countries once it became apparent that the violence of the civil war had not been eliminated
but merely replaced with new forms of repression and abuse. Therefore, having the extremist

1 Kings 12 Rehoboam and Jeroboam
A. Rehoboam and the division of Israel.
1. (1 5) the elders of Israel offer Rehoboam the throne of Israel.
And Rehoboam went to Shechem, for all Israel had gone to Shechem to make him king. So it
happened, when Jeroboam the son of Nebat heard it (he was still in Egypt, for he had fled from the
presence of King Solomon and had been dwelling in Egypt), that they sent and called him. Then
Jeroboam and the whole assembly of Israel came and spoke to Rehoboam, saying, Your father
made our yoke heavy; now therefore, lighten the burdensome service of your father, and his heavy
yoke which he put on us, and we will serve you. So he said to them, Depart for three days, then
come back to me. And the people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And now, whereas my father put a heavy yoke on you, I will add to your yoke; my father chastised
you with whips, but I will chastise you with scourges!
a. But he rejected the advice which the elders had given him, and consulted the young men: Before
Rehoboam ever consulted with the younger men he rejected the advice of the elders.
i. This is a common phenomenon today what some call advice shopping. The idea is that you
keep asking different people for advice until you find someone who will tell you what you want to
hear. This is an unwise and ungodly way to get counsel. It is better to have a few trusted
counselors you will listen to even when they tell you what you don t want to hear.
b. And consulted the young men who had grown up with him: These men were much more likely
to tell Rehoboam what he already thought. By turning to those likely to think just as he did, it
shows that Rehoboam only asked for advice for the sake of appearances
i. Their unwise advice shows the wisdom of seeking counsel from those outside our immediate
situation and context. Sometimes an outsider can see things more clearly than those who share our
same experiences.

The Federal Bureau Of Prisons
Healthcare is a big topic no matter how you view it, but when looking at it from the point of a
person who is in prison, it takes on a whole new view. Those who are in prison have federal and
state laws that say that the prisons must provide them with medical facilities for their healthcare
needs. This paper will identify a governmental agency that regulates the healthcare that is provided
to prisoners in an institution within the United States, along with the foundation of such an agency
and who regulates the licenses, accreditation, certifications, and authorization for employment for
those who work within one of these facilities.
The Federal Bureau of Prisons
The Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) is an agency that was created on May 14, 1930 and
approved of by then president Herbert Hoover. Its main headquarters is in Washington, D.C. The
BOP is a subdivision of the United States Justice Department and is responsible for the
administration of the federal prison system. Its sole purpose is to provide more open minded and
compassionate care to those who are federal inmates within the United States prison system. This
agency is also responsible for providing medically needed health care to inmates in agreement with
federal and state laws. One of the most negative aspects that the BOP is responsible for is carrying
out all judicially mandated federal executions, including the lethal injection of inmates who have
been sentenced to death for a crime they have

`` This American Life ``
This American Life was the story of The fractioned view Keith Aldrich s children had of him,
and his daughter, Gillian s, attempt to reconcile an entire image of her father. Aldrich s story
was one of caution, of becoming too caught up in one s surroundings. In seeking to become a
staple of a piece of time and history, Aldrich disregarded his individuality in order to emulate
those he admired. Aldrich life was a pattern of change categorized by numerous marriages and
the resulting children. He dawned new roles once he tired of his domestic life, until he decided
to move on to a new family, and the cycle started again. Gillian has categorized her father s life
into time periods, periods in which he enacts a new persona and dons a new family to complete
the illusion. There were many moral issues raised in this podcast. Some were individually
perceived morals flaws, while others were more widely agreed upon to be negative. Some of his
ethical issues that are more subjective were things like absentee parenting, extramarital affairs,
drugs, and alcohol use. However, his more egregious ethical issues were the physical and
emotional abuse of his children, particularly Josie, his assault on his son s girlfriend, and his
malicious treatment of his wives in response to his own life failings. He consistently rationalized
his wrong doings and blamed those around him for his inability to be who he wanted. Overall, his
life sounded like a case of undiagnosed and untreated mental

The Glorious Day Of Abraham Lincoln
The glorious day of Abraham Lincoln born in February 12, 1809. Years went on and Abe grew
taller and more of a president. The day had come for the Election Day; and Abraham Lincoln was
running for president. He was elected and went forth as a great president. Some of the actions Abe
made many people angry. One person is known as John Wilkes Booth. He made him so angry; he
had the attentions of assassinating him. Day had come to when Abe was shot. The time period
was very happy and joy full because the war had ended. A week later, Abe was assassinated. The
environment in the north was very much depressing. People were sad and felt like they lost a
family member; because Abe was shot and killed. It also created much anger between the north...

From Abraham being killed; Andrew Johnsonwas up next in line to be president. That was a major
turning point. He made decisions Abe would have made which created problems and became very
disliked.
The first main personal to be a part of the assassination of Abe was clearly John Wilkes Booth.
He was the first person to ever assassinate a president in the history of the U.S. The plan Booth
had in mind was to kidnap the president. They were going to take him through back roads into
the town Richmond and have him traded from certain things. But before the play had started,
Booth had the idea to kill him instead. So he told his three other men who are Lewis Powell,
Herold, and Atzerodt what they last minute change of plans were. So he had each of those men
kill a certain member of the party. They were all going to strike at 10:15 P.M. Clearly, Booth and
his men were major key players in the assassination. The men also showed Booth routes and
back ways to help Booth escape like I mentioned earlier. Clearly, President Lincoln was a major
key player. He was the one who was getting assassinate; if he was never alive or president. None
of this would have happened and changed the future. He was also the one who upsetted Booth and
many other people. Abe wasn t liked that much; people actually didn t like him and seen how he
changed everything until he was killed. He being assassinated angered lots of people. It created
anger between the north and the

Jacoby Jackson, a senior 4 star football recruit, is weighing his options for the future, which
include choosing between attending a large state university on a football scholarship or attending

six suspected concussions. One last alarming statistic is that in 2015, Boston University had

The Simpsons, Family Guy, Aladdin, and all the Scary Movie movies. There are numerous ways in which each makes fun of evil. Scary Movie alone uses numerous ways to mock evil, and turns all these scary, evil things into something to laugh about. Aladdin has people who are supposed to be evil, and come up with all these ideas to destroy good, but it always turns around on the evil people and works out for good. The Simpsonshas an episode where Homer sells his soul for a doughnut, and another episode where Homer kills Death. These TV shows and movies have something in common though, and that is the way they belittle evil. Most will have good triumph over evil which, models Augustinian theodicy. Why do many TV shows and movies ridicule evil? It could be any number of reasons. Perhaps people didn t want to fear it anymore, and thus, belittled it and took away its power over people. Maybe it is for any other number of reasons. However, no matter the reason, these numerous TV shows and movies afore mentioned, mock evil. In Aladdin, there is a parrot named Iago. Iago is voiced by Gilbert Gottfried and appeared in the first film as the sidekick to the main antagonist Jafar, and later becomes one of the protagonists for the rest of the franchise s run. Lars Brownworth Lost To The West Summary Once a Frankish king, Charlemagne was declared the ruler of the Holy Roman Empire in the West by Pope Leo III, whom he defended in a vicious legal battle (153). Consequently, when Charlemagnesent a marriage proposal to Irene and Irene considered accepting, her subjects quickly overthrew her (154). As a kid, I always found the best flowers that were the most beautiful and alive. My mom loved them. Not just, oh cause my kid gave me some dead dandelions, I ll put them on display. Gerry Mulligan Essay Counterpoint in Gerry Mulligan s Compositions and Arrangements In 1952 Gerald Joseph Gerry Mulligan (1927 1996) started playing at a jazz club in Los Angeles called The Haig. During that time he met a lot of the best jazz musicians on the West Coast, including Kenneth Norville Red Norvo , Erroll Garner, Chesney Chet Baker, Milton Shorty Rogers, Foreststorn Chico Hamilton, Clifford Bud Shank, Keith Red Mitchell, Robert Whitlock, and also some rising talent of the area. At The Haig, Mulligan created his famous pianoless quartet with Chico Hamilton on drums, Robert Whitlock on bass, and Chet Baker on trumpet. Mulligan s idea of having a rhythm section without a chordal instrument (i.e., piano, guitar, vibraphone) was in part inspired by his desire of using more counterpoint. Having gained a lot of experience as an arranger and composer with previous projects with Stan Kenton, and Miles Davis, Mulligan wanted to create a counterpoint oriented jazz group. The Roots Of Lean Manufacturing Production managers are faced with many challenges within their facilities such as managing inventories, controlling waste, and managing an ever changing production schedule. Managing product flows can be difficult when balancing supply chain inventories with demand changes or scheduling problems due to throughput variations. Several methods for managing these challenges have been developed through the years and each have their own advantages and disadvantages for different applications. The methods discussed in this paper will be limited to the Theory of Constraints, Just in Time, and Material Requirements Planning. All three methods are designed to manage different aspects of a manufacturing facility s product flow but all three were ultimately developed as an optimization strategy for the manufacturing process. The roots of Lean Manufacturingis one of the earliest management strategies to be developed to address the challenges for production control and may well have been the birth of strategic production control as we know it today. LEAN MANUFACTURING At the end of the 18th century Benjamin Franklin wrote about reducing waste in Poor Richard s Almanac and this may very well have been the starting point for waste reduction thinking. At the beginning of the 20th century Henry Ford was the first person to truly integrate a production process with waste reduction, inventory control, and time management in mind. This paved the way for Lean Manufacturing strategies to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. The Poisonwood Bible Book Report The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver. A book that I never expected to read because of my stance on avoiding religious books, but oddly enough I could not put it down. The book is a representation of culture arrogance, racism, greed, ignorance, and imperialism that occurred through 1959 and on. The book introduces a religious, missionary familyfrom Georgia who are headed to the village of Kilanga in Belgium Congo. What grabbed my attention in the beginning is that each member in the family, which happens to be all girls, has their turn to tell their story through their eyes, except oddly enough the overly religious evangelical Baptist father, who s only purpose is to spread the name and views of God to the Congolese. Each daughter is different from the other. You have the oldest, who s to ignorant to try to understand the culture of the Congolese and just wanted to go back to the US where her beauty belonged. From 1945 until 1991, the United States and the Soviet Union were in a rivalry; a constant state of hostility towards one another. Although the U.S. and the Soviet Union never directly engaged in military action, there was a lot going on behind both sides of the Iron Curtain. The Cold Warwas never a battle itself; however, it was made up of both minor and major battles within, to include the Korean War, Vietnam War and the War in Afghanistan. The Cold War presented a revolutionary arms race from which powerful defense organizations with permanent foundations raised sky high on both sides of the world. Instead of fighting on an actual battleground, the U.S. and the Soviet Union competed through political and economic ideologies and developments within their countries (Pierpaoli, 2010). Throughout the ending of World War II, it was made obvious the Communist controlled East and Capitalist West needed their intelligence organizations overhauled and prepared for an actual physical war. To have knowledge of what an opponent is capable of developing makes it easier to counteract and outperform them. • 20. Two Theories Of Utilitarian And Retributive Punishment The concept of punishment exists in many different forms, each with conflicting views on how to best approach an offence committed by individuals. Two theories stand at the forefront of punishment being that of the Utilitarian, and Retributive theories. Each theory presents its own idea on how punishment ought to be carried out and the core reasoning behind it. The two theories are also debated within our own Canadian legal system which is referred to as: The Criminal Code of Canada, where it details the different principles and procedures when sentencing an individual who has committed a specific offence with guidelines for what sanction should be given. Such principles/procedures reflect various factors within the two theories, and have undergone different fluctuations for which theory has dominated throughout history, but have been influenced more by one theory than from the other. Generally speaking, punishmentis invoked upon offenders for the pursuit of the common good of mankind for a society that prospers, and not one that is hindered. Two primary theorists each lead one of the theories of punishment and what its purpose is; one who stands from a Utilitarian view is Jeremy Bentham, and the other being Immanuel Kant who focuses on a more Retributive theory of punishment. The two theories of Utilitarian and Retributive Punishment each have their own views on what the purpose of punishment is, and of how it is to be invoked in the case of a breach of rules by an offender. Jeremy Bentham makes his debut by focusing on the theory of Utilitarianism which is subdivided into two other theories; the Theory of the Good (also referred to as: Hedonism), where good is pleasure and evil is pain; and the Theory of the Right (also known as: Consequentialism), which outlines that the right action is that which produces the maximum good of all available actions. Bentham as a theorist, believes that the primary goal of laws is to prevent wrongful actions where he summarizes in his opening to Chapter XIII of An Introduction to the Principles of Morals and Legislation: The general object which all laws have, or ought to have, in common, is to augment the total happiness of the community; and therefore, in the first ... He speaks in this essay about ways to avoid conforming and also how each person should follow their own instincts and ideas. Emerson split many of the topics in this essay into different sections. In one of the sections he speaks of the relationship between each individual and non conformity and how each person can be self reliant. Self Reliance favors individualism, which promotes that people use their own thoughts and desires rather than that of a group. In the beginning of the essay Emerson says, To believe in your own thought, to believe that what is true for you in your private heart is true for all men, that is genius. His statement captures the essence of what he means by self reliance, namely the reliance upon one s own thoughts and ideas. He mentions that people like Moses, Plato, and Milton, were so important because they spoke their minds and did not only recite what was written in or memorized from books. Emerson tells his readers to Trust thyself. Emerson also preaches for people to become nonconformists. In the essay, he explains that for a nonconformist, No law can be sacred to me but that of my nature. Good ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Scope of the problem The high cost of CINP may be related to the fact that these patients typically seek on average 5 providers over 21 visits every year and receive largely ineffective treatments (Carlesso et al., 2014). Heat, NSAID, exercise, cold and spinal manipulation/mobilization are the most common treatments received (Goode et al., 2010). • 30. Dehumanized By Margaret Atwood In today s society, especially in the American education system, there is often an emphasis placed more on math and science, rather than the arts. Similar to Marc Slouka s central argument in Dehumanized , Atwood agrees that capitalism has led to a culture where it is almost shameful to pursue the arts and humanities. This conflict is reflected in Margaret Atwoods Oryx and Crake, where the protagonist struggles to clutch onto the seemingly intangible value of the artsamidst a capitalist society where scientific innovation is encouraged. However, even after this society s eradication of anything that cannot turn a profit, Crake s genetic modification, and the destruction of almost the entire humanrace, the efforts to eliminate the arts were still not effective. In this way, Atwood argues that it is not wise to attempt to eradicate the arts because the need for self expression through arts and emotions is embedded in what defines humanity. Atwood uses Oryx and Crake as a vehicle to stress the importance of valuing the arts and humanities in a capitalist society, specifically in the education system. After high school, Jimmy attends an arts and humanities school, which is clearly underfunded and looked down upon. The Martha Graham Academy, considered the laughing stock of colleges, was quite literally falling apart (185). The underfunding of perhaps the only arts and humanities school left in this society reflects how useless the general public deems studying this field ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Humans are born as narcissistic beings; from the moment of birth we are selfish to our own needs. Perhaps, it has survival value. We cry when we are hungry. We do not know or care that our parents might be busy, in a literal sense, we are capable only of thinking of and responding to our own needs. We are, as infants, not even capable of realizing that other peoplehave needs, desires, or a life outside of us. As we grow up over time, ideally, we learn compassion it becomes natural to most of us, but only to a certain point. As such, most people never genuinely become good at it. Compassion is the ability to put ourselves in someone else s shoes, imagine things from their perspective, and then to feel kindness for them and seek understanding of them even if what they do is harmful to us. This usually goes against our needs and desires, and is at odds with our own experiences.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My Pen Writes In Blue And White By Vincent Cremona In the last paragraph of the essay My Pen Writes in Blue and White , Vincent Cremona infers that, through his childhood familiarity with blue collar and white collar working environments, he has attained an expansive world view that enables him to sympathize with various cultural backgrounds today. By enveloping this dual mindset of society, Cremona has developed an impartial writingstyle capable of communicating with a wide variety of backgrounds effectively, whom, in his words, is to see as either blue, or white, or some shade thereof (195) In other words, the author explains that he can adopt either method of communication from blue collar and white collar societies individually, or blend the two styles together. By doing so, Cremona harnesses the authoritative terminology of white collar speech, while exhibiting the loud and brash nature of blue collar speech in one format to help achieve the intended audience reaction. (196) This point is demonstrated in the author s earlier example, where after filing a complaint to an airline while utilizing this writing format, swift action was taken by the firm to compensate Cremona for his trouble. Cremona s ability to persuade the airline was due, in part, to the author s ability to convey emotion plainly and effectively through written words alone, thanks to his utilization of blue collar speech; Cremona himself views this form of expression as basic, bold, and workman like [sic]. So it happened, when Jeroboam the son of Nebat heard it (he was still in Egypt, for he had fled from the presence of King Solomon and had been dwelling in Egypt), that they sent and called him. Then Jeroboam and the whole assembly of Israel came and spoke to Rehoboam, saying, Your father made our yoke heavy; now therefore, lighten the burdensome service of your father, and his heavy yoke which he put on us, and we will serve you. By turning to those likely to think just as he did, it shows that Rehoboam only asked for advice for the sake of appearances i. Their unwise advice shows the wisdom of seeking counsel from those outside our immediate situation and context.
