The Demographics Of The U.s. Essay
The demographics of the U.S. are forever evolving. No generation is like the one before. Trends
come and go, ethnic diversity increases, and social norms change. Therefore, as expected, the
need and attitude towards particular products changes. There are very few consumer items that
are able to withstand the test of time. Those products are typically essential lifestyle or hygiene
goods. For example, products like bath soap have been around for years and it is unlikely that the
need for them go away anytime soon. With that being said, it does not mean that products like
soaps, shampoos, etc. do not need to evolve with the changing desires of our country. They too
must also add variety into their product mix, as well as changetheir methods of marketing to keep
up with the times. Let s now take a look at some demographic trends that will impact how
companies market in the U.S. for the years to come.
Hispanic Population Growth
Hispanics are the fastest growing ethnic/racial group in America. In 2014, the U.S. Census Bureau
reported that Hispanics make up over 17% of the population and it projects that they will account
for nearly 30% of the population by the year 2060. This change will greatly impact what products
companies put out on the market, who they market them to, and how they market them. A 2010
report on demographics conducted by the Nielsen Company revealed that Hispanics spend more
money on baby items (formula, diapers, etc.). Diaper brands Pampers, Huggies, and

What Is The Theme Of Psychology In Lord Of The Flies
In the movie Lord of the Flies, a group of boys become stranded on an island and have to survive
until someone comes to rescue them. Though they may seem like innocent school boys at first,
many of them soon regress into a barbaric way of life becoming hunters . With the island split in
two, the themes of personalitytheory, aggression, and adolescence become more prevalent. Focusing
on Ralph, Piggy, Jack and Simon, we can further delve into these topics.
In class, we studied Sigmund Freud s personality theory; the Id, ego, and superego combine to
create the behavior of humans. The Id is an unconscious part of our personalities that work to
satisfy our basic urges, needs and desires. In the movie, Jack, the leader of the hunters , is a
perfect representation of the Id. He is obsessed with hunting and killing, which are instinctual
and primal. He and his group accidentally kill Simon thinking he is a monster. Even though it was
an accident, Jack shows no remorse. Later on, his group purposely killed Piggy and again, he
shows no remorse. He reasons that everything he is doing is in order for him and his group to
survive and is necessary. Instead of cheering up the younger boys, he says You better start learning
to live with yourself, because we ain t gonna get rescued (Lord of the Flies). He sets in everyone s,
except Ralph and Piggy s, minds that they have to be in survival mode. Throughout the whole
production, Jack was the human representation of the minds Id.

The Ethics Of Computer Forensics
In a world where technology is increasingly becoming the way of life, it was only a matter of
time before crime was no longer just in the streets but happening online as well. Criminals now
get a new approach to carry out their crimes with the use of computers. Since technology is more
like a murder mystery than catching the bad guy in the act, a new discipline of forensics needed to
be put into place. This is known as computer forensics. Forensic scienceis any science used for the
purpose of law. In the case of computer forensics it is the discipline that combines elements of law
and computer science to collect and analyze data from computer systems, networks, wireless
communications, and storage devices in a way that is admissible as evidence in a court of law
(U.S. Cert, 2008). Meaning if you do something illegal on the Internet it can be found. Since the
widespread use of computers, computer crime has caused an increase in computer investigations
during the twenty first century. Some reasons for investigation include: identity theft, such as stolen
social security and credit card numbers, to find evidence of a cheating spouse, to investigate
hackers on a computer system, to find evidence of child pornography, and much more.
History of Computer Forensics
The 1970s were when military investigators first started finding instances of computer related
criminal activity and needed a more comprehensive approach for solving these technical crimes.
These first computer

The Current Canadian Human Rights Act
Introduction The current Canadian Human Rights Act was issued in 1977 to ensure equal
opportunities for Canadian employees in the working environment. The main goal is to stop
discriminatory practices. According to the Canadian Human Rights Act (1977) itself, these
practices can be based on race, national or ethnic origin, color, religion, age, sex, sexual
orientation, marital status, family status, disability or conviction for an offence for which a
pardon has been granted or in respect of which a record suspension has been ordered . Since its
issuance date, many discriminatory practices could be discussed publicly and in case of
disagreements aligned by the court. Although, still today discriminatory practices take part in
business life in small and big forms and the problem might never be fully solved. Therefore, this
essay discusses the function of the Act, its benefits and consequences for Canadian employees
and employers and gives examples from past legal cases. It focusses on the part provision of
goods, services, facilities or accommodation customarily available to the general public to limit the
size and give deeper insights into the certain topic. Additionally, the main emphasis lies on the
workers rights due to the course topic. Denial of good, service, facility or accommodation The
section chosen itself states the following: It is a discriminatory practice in the provision of goods,

Woodside Research Paper
Woodside, NY is a large and heavily populated neighborhood in western Queens. Primarily
consisting of working class to middle class residents, the neighborhood is both residential and
commercial. With a population of 90,000, it is home to both long term residents and recent
additions. When the neighborhood was first formed, few people dared to live on its uninviting
land. Snake infested swamps and wolves nearby kept the area from being developed or populated
for many years. However, towards the mid 19th century, farmers learned how to make the land
profitable through draining swamps and diminishing the surrounding woods to provide land and
prevent against local predators. They utilized the remaining marsh land for livestock grazing and
growing wheat, while using the dry land for fruits and vegetables.... Show more content on

As modern transportation became more prevalent in Woodside, the agricultural profits initially
increased. However, the transportation linked the community to Manhattan and Brooklyn, which
eventually drew residents to pursue higher paying jobs in the city and attracted home developers.
Over time, it became more and more desirable as an affordable place to live and commute to the
city. Today, it is a respected and well kept community, with quality single family homes and
apartment buildings providing much needed affordable housing in the area.
There will never be an excuse for boredom in this neighborhood as activities, events, concerts,
shopping malls, and restaurants are all merely blocks away. it is also a great location for
commuting to New York University, which is just 20 minutes away. Buses and trains make it easy

Summary Of John Locke s Second Treatise Of Government
In John Locke s Second Treatise of Government, Locke discusses a lot of important topics. The
topics discussed are the state of nature, common wealth, a civil society, equality of men, and
much more. In my writing, I will be discussing a few of these topics. I will be explaining how
John Locke s account of the state of nature set up and support his argument for a liberal political
structure of civil society. John Lockebegins the Second Treatise of Government by discussing the
state of nature. This state of nature that he talks about is the equality and freedom all men receive
at birth and the liberty they have when it comes to their lives and property. This means that the
decisions a man makes cannot be narrowed by another man, making them all living in the same
state, also known as the state of nature. Locke then quotes Richard Hooker on the obligation to
mutual love amongst all men (8). Hooker talks about how equality is the fundament of a civil
society and how if a man wants something, he must give it first. John Locke then talks about how
when a man... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He starts off this chapter by saying that God having made man such a creature, that in his own
judgement, it was not good for him to be alone... (42). While saying that men should always
work together, Locke also talks about how a man can also join a political society where every
one of the members hath quitted this natural power, resigned it up into the hands of the
community in all cases that lished by it (46). Here, Locke is saying how if a man wants to be a
part of the political party, he must get rid of some or all the things that a state of nature provides
to him. Locke believes this is how a political society should work because if a man wishes to live in
a society ran off political ideas, he must give up his state of nature to live in a civil political
society which does not give him more freedom or rights than any other

Difference Between Dopamine And Serotonin
Difference between Dopamine and Serotonin
Dopamine is a neurotransmitter associated with the pleasure centers of the brain. It is responsible
for feelings related to love, joy, pleasure, reward and motivation. Serotonin is also a
neurotransmitter and helps to regulate mood, irritability, impulse, obsession and memory.
Regular physical activity is important for normal brain function and mental health. Sustained
exercise increases the level of serotonin in your brain and serotonin may play a key role in
preserving brain function. As you age, the amount of serotonin in your brain decreases, which this
is linked to an increase in depression.
Lifestyle Factors: Exercise can increase brain serotonin, even for older adults, suggesting that

Pay It Forward Movie Essay
Pay it Forward: Try it Instead of paying back a favor, what if you paid it forward by delivering a
different favor to someone else? And then that person would go on to help another. This utopian
idea is what drives the movie Pay it Forward. Although this tear jerking movie has its weak parts,
it provokes an intriguing theory that is considered to be idealistic, but essentially motivates the
audience to do good. Trevor McKinney, played by the prodigy actor Haley Joel Osmet is a
gifted 7th grade boy who lives with his mother Arlene on the outskirts of Las Vegas. Arlene, who
is superbly acted by Helen Hunt, struggles to make ends meet with her two waitressing jobs and
her alcohol addiction. On Trevor s first day of 7th grade, he is assigned... Show more content on

And for these types of movie goers, it most likely did everything in that sorts to change their
lives. Yet, the idea of paying it forward can be considered unrealistic. You can t really have high
expectations for the world. In fact, Sidney (David Ramsey), another supporting cast member
effected by the movement said The world is a shithole, pardon my French an shit. Quite frankly,
Sidney is right. People are greedy and its hard to think paying it forward could be that effective,
because most people don t have the integrity to pass on the favor once they get what they want.
With that being said, the movie paints a story that is a little picture perfect. However, even if the
idea of paying it forward is idealistic, the movie sufficiently succeeded its goal to inspire and have
the audience to consider the idea. Although this movie is life changing, it doesn t change lives
completely through happiness. Bringing tissues to the movie might be a helpful tip. Most life
changing movies are impactful because of tragedy. And although this is true, this movie could of
done without it. The ending seems irrelevant and not entirely suited to the tone of the film. The
motivation to pay it forward was already casted upon the audience. Therefore, a tragic ending is
debatable depending on the

Marx And Friedrich Engels s Impact On The 21st Century
Looking back at these two works written in the mid to late 19th century, it has become clear the
benefits and detrimental aspects of the opinions of the writers. The statements and arguments made
by each author will be considered in the general impact each philosopher had on the 21st century.
In 1848 when Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels wrote the first edition of the book that would define
their worldview, they saw an issue with the fragmentation of the communist beliefs and were
commissioned to put the beliefs of the communists into a clear document to demonstrate what
they stood for. Many of their ideas are now outdated, and some have been implemented in current
society with unsuccessful results. Marx advocates the violent overthrow of governments to
equalize the people of the country, rationalizing it as a way to overthrow the regime of the
bourgeoisie. As seen in history, this can often lead to a state where the country is plunged into
civil war or genocide, with an equally oppressive or more tyrannical leader than before. The
attempt of leaders of many nation states to adapt Marx s ideas of nationalizing the agricultural
process has resulted in increased costs for the consumers of the nations, and preventing them from
negotiating trade contracts. The spread of globalization has increased, but contrary to the beliefs of
Marx, there has not been a push to remove the borders of nation states because of the similarities of
the nation s workforces. Any attempt to annex

Colorado Legalization And The Netherlands Drug Policy
Colorado Legalization and The Netherlands Drug Policy
Amanda McKeel
Monmouth University
Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to discuss the legalization of marijuana in Colorado as well as the
Netherlands drug policy. It has been found that even though Colorado has legalized marijuana,
there are provisions that must be followed. The Netherlands however have not legalized
marijuana, but they do feel that seeing possession of marijuana is not a crime, so therefore
marijuana is tolerated. Colorado s society does not agree with this legalization due to adolescent
use, however the Colorado Amendment 64 protects this. The Netherlands is seen as too liberal, but
they are only doing what is in the best interest of the users. ... Show more content on

The main question is, with marijuana being legalized in Colorado and tolerated in the Netherlands,
what is the affect of such legalization?
The legalization of marijuana, for some, is not something to take lightly, but I do not think it is
the worst drug. In my own opinion heroin and cocaine are two drugs that should not be legal
because of the harmful effects they cause. Marijuana, in my own opinion is the lesser of the two
evils, so if states and countries want to legalize it, they can do what they please. Now I know
some people would disagree with me on this, but everyone is entitled to their own opinions. I
would rather see marijuana legalized then heroin or cocaine.
Colorado
Colorado s legalization of marijuana began in 2000 with the Colorado Amendment 20. According to
Davis, Mendelson, berkes, Suleta, Corsi Booth (2015) the Colorado Amendment 20 legalized
cannabis for medical use only. Even though this was true however, not just anybody was allowed
to obtain marijuana. Any person wishing to obtain cannabis had to have a condition that was
debilitating. Debilitating conditions approved by the Colorado Department of Public Health and
Environment (CDPHE) and included in Amendment 20 are cancer, glaucoma, HIV or AIDS,
cachexia, severe pain, severe nausea, seizures, muscle spasms, and any other condition approved
by CDPHE (Davis et.al, 2015, p.1). This Amendment lasted for nine years and in 2009, anyone
was allowed to obtain medical cannabis. There was no

Characters. They are the foundation of a storyline. However, what is the significance of having
realistic characters? Authors construct a story with realistic characters to enable readers in
familiarizing themselves with the character. In Sandra Cisneros Eleven and Ray Bradbury s The
Veldt, both authors reveal realistic characters by using descriptive writing with the use of literary
devices, utilizing dialogue that reflects their young ages and developing the characters by
encountering various types of narrations. The authors use realistic characters to provide a better

He [George] could feel it on his neck, still, like a hot paw...And the smell of blood. (Bradbury 3).
The author uses a simile to compare the heat of the sun to a hot paw in the African veldt which
emphasizes the positive thoughts of the children. The smell of blood refers to death, which
transitions into an unexpected thought from children. Bradbury uses a technique called
foreshadowing by contrasting the positive thoughts and negative thoughts of the children. This
explains the variation in the age of Peter as his thoughts begin to expand. Therefore, descriptive
writing with the use of literacy devices reflect the overall theme; coming of age to create
realistic characters. Authors use dialogues as a technique to display an important conversation
between two characters or more. Realistic characters would comprise dialogues consisting
apparent speech manners of a human being. Through dialogues, characters can interact in a way
that could reveal expositional information (age) about a character which seems to be realistic.
For example, Cisneros exaggerates the nervousness in Rachel, when she says, That s not, I don
t, you re not...Not mine (Cisneros 2) after a classmate declares that the red sweater belongs to
Rachel. The writer uses an ellipsis; a pause after every few words to emphasize the idea of Rachel
not being able to speak up for herself, which allows the reader to fill in their own insights about the
character. Rachel endeavors to say that s not

Analysis Of The Shining
Formal Analysis of The Shining In his exemplary horror film, The Shining, Stanley Kubrick
uses various components of editing and sound to create unique and terrifying scenes. Kubrick
relies on editing and sound design to aid the horrifying and creepy feel that was made in the in
the movie. All throughout the movie, the unique sound design and strong editing techniques
create many diverse effects on the viewer, however the most evident effect created a sense of
fear and suspense. One scene specifically emerges as a skillfully edited part in the movie. In this
scene, Wendy and Danny Torrance leave the hotel to walk through the hedge maze. Wendy and
Danny both wandered around inside the massive maze. The scene then cuts to a shot of Jack
walking up to a model of the maze that is in the lobby. The scene then cuts to a close up of the
model of the maze. Tiny versions of Wendy and Danny are shown walking through the maze. The
Jack and the viewer can hear Wendy and Danny talking even though he is not with them. This
helps the allusion that Jack is viewing them experience the maze. As the scene proceeds, it cuts to
clips of Wendy and Danny walking in the actual maze. The maze scene is a case of parallel
editing. Using parallel editing in the scene, the viewer accept that Wendy and Danny are
experiencing the maze while Jack is watching the through the model of the maze. This leads the
viewer to trust that Jack is viewing over the two experience the maze, alongside the sounds of the

The Renaissance was a time period in history that came with a plethora of changes in art, religion,
and science. Considered one of the most beautiful eras thus far, it shaped the modern age. Curiosity
peaked in people everywhere in Europe; this curiosity included fascination with the human body
and new research. Dissection gained popularity and importance during the Renaissance, which led
to body snatching becoming common; both of these activities gave way to new advancements.

illegal methods of acquiring bodies included grave robbing and taking the unclaimed bodies of the

The Role Of Powers Of Modern Government
INTRODUCTION
A trend very much in vogue to day in all democratic countries is that only a relatively small part of
the total legislative output emanates directly from the legislature. The bulk of the legislation is
promulgated by the executive and is known as Delegated Legislation.
So a simple definition of Delegated Legislation is that its a type of law which can be made quickly
and is not made by Parliament or a law made by a person or a body to whom the Parliament has
delegated law making power.
Such legislation is made by a body by virtue of the powers conferred on it by a statute. Usually
what happens is that the legislature enacts a statute covering only the general principles and policies
relating to the subject matter in question, and confers rule making powers on government, or some
other administrative agency, to fill in the details. This technique of delegated legislation has
assumed central importance in modern Administrative Process. Delegated Legislation is being
increasingly used as a major component of the method of modern government.
Parliament makes only skeleton, simple framework simple laws with no details which is put on by
someone else other than the Parliament and the reason behind that is time because Parliament s
time is very limited. So the Parliament delegates the authority of making law to others.
Delegated Legislation is so multitudinous that the statute book will not only be incomplete but even
misleading unless it be read along with the

Globalisation In Australia Essay
Globalisation is the process of integration and sharing of goods, capital, labour, services,
knowledge, leisure, sport, ideas, and culture between countries. Globalisation is making a positive
contribution to the world in many ways, such as, increased competition, stabilised security, and
more wealth and economy throughout the world. Globalisation has increased the competition
between many retail stores. When there are multiple producers trying to gain hold of the economy,
generally the quality of goods and services rise as a result. With globalisation, more businesses are
starting to cross international borders introducing a higher standard into the global marketplace, by
doing this, consumers have greater options to choose from. Whilst more companies and businesses
come into Australia it creates more competitors and wider choices to consumers, meaning each
company has to continuously improve their goods or services to create more value for their
customers. This also allows consumers to purchase better products for lower prices. For example,

that the two countries could have extreme conflict, but since they rely on each other for materials,
the two countries won t get involved in conflict as it would affect the countries ability to produce

prohibited from holding public office for 3 years. They cannot take any executive or administrative
position in their political party. They must refund all subsidies they received with a surcharge of 25
percent. Parties are also required to have a merit system for the nomination and selection of their
candidates. This promotes party loyalty and discipline among party members. Stability and order
are possible because there is a clear procedure on the governance of political parties. This clear
structure also produces legitimacy for the political party system. This bill helps in strengthening
parties and institutionalizing rules and behaviours. It makes parties coherent, and valuable. Thus,
they can conduct party activities and function during and after an election.
Key Development of the Bill as a Legislation
The bill has been in the making for almost 13 years now. Its first filing was in the 12th Congress.

Principles of Managing Information and Producing Documents
Unit 203
Unit title: Principles of managing information and producing documents
1. Understand the purpose of information technology in a business environment
1.1 Identify different types of information technology that may be used for work tasks
Types of technology that could be used to do tasks at work are computer software like:
Microsoft Word which is software used to create documents
Excel is software that can be used for storing and organising data.
Publisher is software which is used to create almost anything from documents to greeting cards.
Could also use a fax machine, telephone and send emails.

Style Varies on the type of document, so if it was an agreement then a formal standard style would
be used.
Deadline Makes the time frame clear for something to be complete, also gives the client a clear
time when the project should be finished by.
Efficiency Makes the company look more professional and organised.
Repetition Doing good quality work on time gives a good impression of the company which could
mean more work because they will be recommended because of its good repetition.
1.2 Describe ways of checking finished documents for accuracy and correctness, and the purpose of
doing so
Ways of checking finished documents are by using the spell and grammar checker to ensure there
are no mistakes, or you could ask a colleague to check the document to make sure all the
necessary information has been included. You should always check that money, date, name and
address details are all correct because if the address or money are incorrect someone wrong could
be getting a lot or not enough money they need which would have a negative impact on the
business and could lead to lost custom.

Fat Women Research Paper
You might think the title of this article alludes to the fact that a larger woman might require a
physically strong man in order to handle her ample charms, but you would be quite wrong.
In our popular culture, the media worships the beautiful, perfectly made up, perfectly coiffed,
perfectly dressed, THIN woman! Our current standard of beauty is based on super models,
actresses, musical artists, reality TV stars, all for the most part very thin women. With the
overwhelming amount of these images bombarding us every day, the message seems clear: women
who do not fit this standard of beauty are unattractive, unloveable, and unacceptable.
All BBWs have at one time or another felt the pressure of trying to conform to this ideal. Fad
diets, excessive exercising, diuretics, and questionable diet products are just some of the things
we have tried in an attempt to fit in . Even women who would not be considered BBWs feel this
pressure. Girls as young as five or six have been known to worry about their weight or the size of
their thighs. The number of people suffering ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I believe it takes a special man to date BBWs. One with enough confidence to overcome the
pressure put on men to date acceptable women.
A man who prefers BBWs may find his buddies, and even family members and coworkers,
critical of his choice of women and may ridicule him for it. It takes great strength of character for
a man to be able to stand up to his peers. Even strangers may take it upon themselves to voice their
disapproval of his choice of women.
BBWs are known to be sweet, warm, giving, and very loving. However, because many have also
been hurt more than once, they can also wear a protective armor that must be peeled away before
their true, wonderful selves are revealed. It requires a man with self confidence, one who doesn t
take rejection too seriously to pierce this

Sir Gawain And The Green Knight Analysis
Sir Gawain and the Green Knight is about the Green Knight coming to a feast at King Arthur s
table, and wanting to challenge the King to a game. The game was a game unlike many others, it
was about beheading. The King accepts the challenge, but while he is holding the axe to swing at
the Green Knight, Sir Gawainsteps in, takes the ax and beheads the Green Knight himself.
The Green Knight s bloody head laid on the ground, but to Sir Gawain s shock, the Green Knight
picked up his head and placed it back on his body. He reminded Sir Gawain that he had accepted
the challenge so, Sir Gawain himself had to come find the Green Knight in one year at his chapel,
so the he can then behead Sir Gawain. By accepting this challenge, Sir Gawain shows courage and

The Basic Idea Of Hadoop
Basic Idea : Parallelization
The Basic idea in Hadoop is all about parallelization. Parallelization can be easily accomplished, if
a processing (a work) can be easily split into n units. Hence the core focus of MapReduce
programming framework have been to solve the partition problem.
The Problem :
Algorithms that are usually used to process data are relatively simple , compared to the amount of
time it takes to finish execution. In order for the data processing task to finish in a reasonable
amount of time, the task needs to be split into potentially thousands of machines in a cluster. To this
account, Hadoop compute framework provides techniques to split data, forwarding these data and
code to participating nodes in the cluster, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Idea of MapReduce is taken from list processing languages like LISP.
Mapping Lists:
A list of data elements are provided to a Mapper (mapping function) one at a time. Each element is
individually transformed to an output data element.
Reducing Lists :
In the reduce step, these values are aggregated together. An iterator of inputvalues from the input
list is provided to the Reducer function, which then combines these values to produce a single
output value.
Mapping step in MapReduce : (Keys and Values)
All the values in MapReduce has a key associated with it. Keys are used to identify related values.
The input and output to both the Mapper and Reducer functions are (Key,Value) pairs.
Reducing Step in MapReduce : (Keys divide the Reduce space)
All the output values from mapper are not reduced together, but the values with the same key are
given to a single reducer, which is independent of the reduce operations occurring on other lists of
values associated with different keys.
Input Files :
An Input file is where the data for a MapReduce task is typically stored, and this input file resides
in HDFS. These input files are typically large to the order of Gigabytes and Petabytes spanning
across multiple nodes.
InputFormat :
InputFormat defines how the input files are split up and read. InputFormat is a java class which
provides functionalities like selecting the files that needs to be used as input, defining InputSplits

The War On Plastic Bags
The war on plastic bags is an intense and drawn out debate. It is obvious that the cons of plastic
bag usage outweigh the pros, yet our Earth is still being consumed by the infamous plastic bag.
Many people have voiced their opinions on whether or not plastic bags should be taxed, although
the input of their opinions does nothing but stir the pot since no one can reach a general consensus
on how to handle this increasing dispute. Consumer behavior also contributes to deciding upon the
plastic bagdebate. Consumer s heavy dependence on these bags has a distinct impact on the
environmentand all of Earths living things. Even though plastic bags can be recycled and reused,
the immense overuse of the bags and damage they cause to the environment are reasons for retail
stores to implement a bag tax.
Human s dependence on plastic bags have grown greatly in just the past couple of years. In 2013,
8.5 million tons of plastic bags were used and not properly recycled resulting in well over 8 million
tons of plastic bag waste. This amount of plastic bags used was expected to grow 10% within the 5
years following 2013 which would result in 9.35 million tons of plastic bag usage and waste
(Usage of Plastic Bags and Health Hazards 1). The lack of recycling centers and people willing to
recycle them causes only 8% of all the plastic bags being discarded to be successfully recycled. In
fact, 4.4 pounds of plastic bags are not recycled each day, meaning they either make it into a land

How to Reduce Employee Turnover with Motivation
1. Introduction Nowadays, a word is very popular in white collars. It is luo ci in Chinese, which
means people leaving their current work without a new job. With the development of society and
the improvement of the level of people s life, the phenomenon of luo ci become more and more
common. As we know, the employee turnover of hospitality industry is quite higher than other
industries. In 2004, Wildes warned that hospitality would face a significant work force deficit of
quality managers in the near future. Not only is there a shrinking labor pool due to other industries
attracting our potential managers (i.e., retail, banking, and healthcare) (American Express, 2006),

education, the stronger ability. Therefore, those hotels always focus on those employees who have
high education, and give them higher position and more training, often send them to study and

the importance of primary level organizations. Thus, sometimes, the primary level employees think
their abilities cannot be confirmed and their jobs cannot meet their sense of achievement. Finally,
in order to find a leader who can accept their abilities and get sense of achievement, they choose

The Things They Carried Analysis
Story Truth and Happening Truth in
The Things They Carried
Throughout The Things They Carried, by Tim O Brien it is difficult to separate what is fictitious,
and what is true. During the entire work there are two different truths , which are story truth and
happening truth . Happening truth is the actual events that happen, and is the foundation or time
line on which the story is built on. Story truth is the molding or re shaping of the happening truth
that allows the story to be believable and enjoyable. It is not easy to distinguish happening truth
from story truth , and at times during the novel O brien reveals which is which. On the other hand,

Martha gave it to me herself (28). This makes the reader believe that the Tim O brien who wrote
the book is indeed the Tim O brien that is in the book, therefore this must be a true story from his

Cross permission to write the book the reader is looking at right then and there, At the end,
though, as we were walking out to his car, I told him that I d like to write a story about some of
this... Why not? he said... Make me out to be a good guy, okay? Brave and handsome, all that
stuff. Best platoon leader ever (29 30). Like stated before, it is nearly impossible for a blind
reader to distinguish the happening truth from story truth , but it is possible that Tim O brien and
Jimmy Cross did in fact meet and talk for a day, but the honest facts may be twisted by story truth
. For example, O Brien may not remember his and Jimmy Cross conversation throughout that entire
day in great detail; therefore he may have had to formulate and make up certain parts in order to
fill in holes and perhaps make the interaction more interesting. The first three words of the chapter
How to Tell a True War Story are, This is true (67). Although Tim O Brien begins this chapter with
such a bold and clear statement, throughout the chapter he has the reader thinking and confused
when he contradicts himself by stating things such as, In many cases a true war story cannot

A very good morning to our English for Effective Communication lecturer, Madam Pushparani

journey where several places are visited. When it reaches the time to decide the location for your
holiday, most probably you will be choosing a foreign country such as Korea, Japan, China or
European countries like Germany, France, United Kingdom and Italy. Since we are born in
Malaysia and have been living here for years, it is understandable why most of us willing to
choose foreign country as the destination for our holidays trip instead of domestic tourism. It is
true that you may be experience a whole different culture and lifestyle in others counties, but do not

Mud Blindness
Method
Participants
We recruited 18 undergraduate students from a California State University using general class
announcements and one campus posting. Participants were offered academic credit or extra credit
for participating. There were 3 men and 15 women with ages that ranged from 20 27, (M = 22.89,
SD = 1.84).
Materials
We used the mud splash paradigm to examine change blindness. Each trial consisted of two
Microsoft PowerPoint images. The first image was of a natural scene and almost identical to the
second image, but a small object was removed from the central area of the scene in the changed
image. Additionally the changed image was nmasked with several high contrast mud splash s,
similar to previous research studies that have used the mud splash paradigm (O Regan et al.,
1999), and covered 10%, 20%,, or 40% of the scene. Using Microsoft PowerPoint ... Show more

This may have yielded better results, but only when combined with the audio shadowing task.
These results indicated a floor effect because of the insensitive levels of mud splash and the
interaction only at the 40% mud splash level. Future research using this design should include
sensitive levels with the minimum level of mud splash distraction to 40% and increase the range
of conditions (Rensink et al., 1997). The results were similar on a multi modal study where
participants completed a verbal counting task at the same time as a visual search task. Only when
the task became cognitively demanding a significant difference was observed, (Most, 2005). The
perception of change in a scene requires a person to have attended to relevant stimuli and encoded
the information into working memory. Moreover visual change detection occurs when a person has
given attention to something. Yet change blindness occurs because attention had failed to encode
the necessary information for change detection to occur (Rensink, et al.,

Why Does Evil Exist
Atheism is the disbelief in the existence of God. Atheism is not a religion, if you think about,
baldness cannot be established as a hairstyle! Atheism is wholly based on the fact that evil exists in
the world. Evil is the rock of atheism , in simpler terms just means that evil is the foundation of
atheism. The existence of evil has been an objection to theism, as evil and Godcannot co exist.
I agree with the statement Evil is the rock of atheism to an extent. This is because, in my
opinion, evil is suffering whether moral and natural, can be prevented by an omnipotent,
omniscient and benevolent god. So why does evil exist? that s the million dollar question.
Epicurus a Greek philosopher made a strong argument which supports my argument. Epicurus
valid argument is simple but solid. The argument goes as follows: 1. Is God able to, but not
willing to prevent evil? Then he/she is malevolent. 2. Is God both able and willing to prevent evil?
Then where does evil come from? 3. Is God neither able nor willing to prevent evil? Then why call
him God? Theists believe that God is omnipotent, omniscient and benevolent. But, then why does
evil exist? I believe the preceding question provides a strong foundation for atheism since it has
been unanswerable to theists. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Non Reciprocal Trade Arrangement Is Africa Growth And...
The first RTA I chose to discuss is a Non Reciprocal Trade Arrangement called Africa Growth and
Opportunity Act (AGOA). USTR.gov states, In 2013, U.S. goods imports from sub Saharan
African under AGOA and the related GSP program totaled $26.8 billion, more than three times
the amount in 2001, the first full year of AGOA trade. There are challenges for this agreement as
the site later states, Exports of U.S. poultry have been effectively excluded from the South African
market for 15 years due to a range of trade barriers and other measures. This agreement has
potential to assist the African economy in numerous ways as the exports can create large revenue
for Africaand can also provide employment opportunities. The difficulty lies with changing trade
barriers that could begin to cause more products and materials to have higher taxes associated.
The second RTA I chose is called Free Trade AreaAgreement (FTAA). As export.gov states, The
FTA includes a non binding statement of intent to eliminate barriers to trade in services such as
tourism, communications, banking, insurance, management consulting, accounting, law, computer
services, and advertising. The benefits are mutual and the United States has made tremendous
profit on exports. The site later states, U.S. exports to Israel grew from $2.5 billion in 1985 to
$11.3 billion in 2010. This agreement can become challenging as the economy can shift and with
the presidential election threatening to put more taxes on

Slavoj Zizek Examined Life Essay
Ecology is akin to love. Love is a concept of acceptance, love is the ability to see beyond the
rights and wrongs, and love is not meant to stand on a pedestal. Correspondingly, countless of
aspects revolve around ecology and its nature. Frequently, people chop down trees for construction
and see it as a benefit to society, but people often forget the negative impacts that society falls into
once these trees fall. Identically, there are several misconceptions about waste and trash; for
instance, waste decomposes, but trash does not. In Examined Life, the continental philosopher
Slavoj Zizek further discusses the principles of ecology and how Modern Day America
conceptualize it. As an observer, people appreciate the authenticity of the information that is
conversed in a specific film, such as a documentary. This film exhibits the rhetorical appeal of ethos
because Zizek is ultimately a credible source. As a well rounded philosopher, people can trust and
confide in him. Apart from subjects about continental philosophy, Zizek also works on matters
relevant to political theory, cultural studies, psychoanalysis, film criticism, Marxism, Hegelianism,
and theology. As a professor at the New York University, Zizek educates his students about ecology,

Canada Takes Flight A balloon was the first means of manned flight in 1840 at Saint John, New

economics all played substantial factors in Canada s aviation industry from that time on. In 1909,
following the accomplishments of the Wright brothers, the test flights of Bell s Silver Dart put
aviation experiments in motion throughout Canada. The benefit of the use of military aircraft
during war times were a direct result of the development of Canada s experimental phase, and many

The Beginning Of The Reformation
Task 1: Describe the beginning of the Reformation in Germany (including who, when, and where).
The Protestant Reformation was the 16th century religious, political, intellectual and cultural
uprising that splintered Catholic Europe, setting in place the structures and beliefs that would
define the continent in the modern era. In northern and central Europe, reformers like Martin
Luther and Henry VIII challenged papal authority and questioned the Catholic Church s ability to
define Christian practice. On October 31 1517, Martin Luther nailed the 95 thesis to the door of
the church of Wittenberg. These theses were up for debate on the errors of indulgences and related
matters which, for him, came into the category of useless works which distracted Christians from
their true path to salvation, which was faith alone They argued for a religious and political
redistribution of power into the hands of Bible. The word spread because of the invention of the
printing press which basically as the internet of the 1500 s. They found that if the out the whole
alphabet onto a bunch of lead blocks inside out and upside down, they found that they could print
these theses over and over. (Without it the modern era would not have come about). So after the
theses went public, Most of Germany was in uproar. Luther had to go into hiding will he translated
the New Testament into German. After that things moved rapidly and Luther s writings, attacking

Social location is the central ideal of a person. It is . . . is where all aspects of one s identity

I grew up in a community very homogenious and it is hard to understand that people s
experiences effect their understandings and alter our expectations. The idea of having a similar
exterior equating to a similar background is detrimental and creates a lot of distance between
social locations because it perpetuates stereotyping and essentialism. If you rely on looks and
other identifying factors you will miss much of the person, as people are always more than just
one thing they identify, or have been identified as. Misunderstanding creates distance because it
leads people to retreat back into their own communities that they recognize and know and
perpetuates stereotypes of identities. I think it is possible to diminish these distances by creating

for facilitating discussion amongst people of different backgrounds. It can aid in helping people
gain a deeper understanding of one another and it allows a free exchange of emotions and ideas

Fun Home By Jeffery Eugenides Essay
What does it mean to be queer? The Merriam Webster Dictionary states that queer is differing in
some odd way from what is usual or normal ( Definition of Queer ). By this definition, all humans
are queer in their own way. When looking at the novel Middlesex, written by Jeffery Eugenides,
and the graphic novel Fun Home, written by Alison Bechdel, queerness is seen in multiple
aspects within the characters and styles of writing. Eugenides writes Middlesex through the all
knowing character of Cal, who was born and raised a female but later discovered to have both
male and female genitals. During the time of puberty, her queerness becomes more present as she
realizes how much she differs from her classmates. When a doctor finally tells her that her genetic
makeup is male, Cal runs away to take on this new identity. Contrasting this to the graphic novel
Fun Home, Bechdel writes a memoir of her life, retelling the story of her familyand the revelation of
her sexual identity. A strong emphasis is put on Bechdel s father, who is found to have homosexual
tendencies, and the relationship the two form through their queerness. Queerness, in the sense of
non normativity, is seen within the texts of Middlesex and Fun Home and can be compared and
contrasted by the ways in which the characters identify themselves as queer, how the styles of
narratives reflect queerness, and how the families of the protagonists are incidentally queer
themselves. While the characters of both Cal and

Timing Switches At The Ends Of Competition Swimming Pools
From the beginning of time, the world of competitive swimming, to the days of Michael Phelps and
Katie Ledecky, has changed greatly. All areas of competitive swimming have evolved through

training equipment. Come join a splash in the past to see how technology has changed the
swimmingworld.

In the early 1920s, racing suits were made of silk, which was much lighter and more comfortable
than the more popular knitted wool suits, but they were considerably more expensive (BBC
News. BBC, 03 Aug. 2004. Web. 06 Sept. 2015). As years went on, racing suits became
increasingly streamline, stylish, and moderately affordable with materials like nylon and Lycra, a
modern and extremely effective compression fabric. In the early 20th Century, caps and goggles
weren t widely used. Since then, swimmers have seen that using these items can increase their
performance and they don t have to shave their head and swim blind . Or, if they didn t shave their
head and swim with hair, but without a cap and goggles, like American Mark Spitz, then the
advantage of swimming with these products was even greater. Modern swim caps are made from
water repellant materials like silicon, Lycra, and Neoprene, which are very affordable. High tech
innovations in racing suits and swimming uniform have improved the swimming

Luncheon Of The Boating Party And Pierre-Aguste Renoir
To describe, and analyze any period of our marvelous World Art History, it is crucial to find a
piece of art to motivate our lines. The Impressionism is not the exception, that is why Luncheon of
the Boating Party, and Pierre Aguste Renoir, are the principal characters of the paragraphs that you
are going to read.
Any person interested in Arts who heard the term impressionism, immediately think about a unique
art movement that expresses less detail than the previous periods, however, give to the viewers the
opportunity to read their feelings between the combination of the brain and heart. This was the first
sentence that came to my mind in the moment when I was right in front of the Pierre Aguste Renoir
work, at the Phillip Collection.

Everyman Wealth
Introduction
Money, fame, and fortune rules all. It seeps into the lives of people and is the underlying control
mechanism of decisions and actions. The need for either of these things is common among all
people. In an idea society, religion would be the underlying control mechanism of people s
decisions and actions; however, it is not. Everyman is a prime example of how religion, even in the
15th century, struggled to be a predominate force in humanity s existence. This essay will examine
the human race s abandonment of the Lord s will and determine how Everyman presents the idea of
material wealth.
Sex and Material Wealth
Sex and money are two things that go hand in hand. Once one acquires the other the missing
piece is not too far behind. This quote is a perfect example of Everyman s view of wealth, ...His
mind is on fleshly lust and his treasure, And great pain it shall cause him to endure Before the
Lord Heaven King... This quote suggests that the epitome of earthly life is to have lots of sex and
acquire lots of riches. However, the Lord did not give humanity life to squander in such a way and
he will send Death to bring hunans to judgement for their coveting of material wealth and sex.

The Lord was dissatisfied with the human behavior of the 15th century. Collecting wealth by any
means and all else be damned was the theme of the time. Complete disregard for others and utter
self absorption was rampant. The Lord sent Death to enact his justice, as witnessed in this quote,
...They be so cumbered with worldly riches, That needs on them I must do justice, On Everyman
living without fear... . The Lord was so displeased with everyman that he decides judgement is due
and sends Death to stop humanity from living with

The Ascent Of Mount Ventoux Summary
The Renaissance was a cultural, economic, and political movement that emerged in Italy in the
fifteenth century. The Renaissance marked the leap from the Medieval era to the Modern Age and
brought with it a great cultural transformation, not only of the arts, but also of the sciences, letters
and forms of thought. Francesco Petrarch and Giovanni Pico Della Mirandola were two Renaissance
men who changed the ideals and ways of seeing the world that emerged during the Medieval Age.
In the letter The Ascent of Mount Ventoux , Petrarch describes his human experience when he
climbed Mount Ventoux with his brother and his two servants. The reason why Petrarch wanted
to achieve this goal was for the simple fact of living a personal experience. Petrarch declared that
my only motive was the wish to see what so great an elevation had to offer. This statement allows
us to observe the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In medieval thought, everything revolved around god and the church, where personal motives had
no purpose if they had no relationship with any divine being. Petrarch s personal experience had
no purpose in glorifying or seeking God, but rather in discovering truth and happiness on his own.
This new way of thinking was considered part of the Renaissance because Petrarch uses reason as a
source of knowledge, and seeks the truth through personal reflection and research.
On the other hand, Giovanni had to analyze and question a concept different from Petrarch. For
Giovanni, the idea of Abdala the Sarraceno and Hermes Trismegisto that man is an intermediary
between creatures and interpreter of nature by sense, reason and intelligence, are not enough to
understand the condition of human nature. In the Oration on the Dignity of Man written in 1486,
Giovanni explains to us why man is the most fortunate and prestigious being in the world, and why
the human being is an intermediary between animals and angels

Sigmund Freud s Theory Of Hypnotism
Sigmund Freud is one of the most influential psychologists. He was born in Freiberg, Moravia in
1856, and moved to Vienna with his family at the age of four. He continued to work in Vienna for
most of his life. Freud had always considered himself to be, above all, a scientist. He was always
seeking to further human knowledge. In 1873, Freud enrolled at the medical school at the
University of Vienna, where he concentrated his studies on biology. During his time at the
University, Freud did research in physiology under German scientist Ernst BrГјcke, the director of
the Physiology Lab at the University. Sigmund Freudearned his degree in medicine in 1881. In
1886, shortly after his marriage, he set up a private practice for the treatment of physiological
disorders. This practice was where Freud gathered clinical material that he later based his theories

After his trip to Paris, Sigmund Freud returned to Vienna where he discovered that the beneficial
effects of hypnotism did not last. He then adopted a method of Josef Breuer, an older Viennese
friend and colleague. Breuer had discovered that if he allowed a hysterical patient talk freely about
symptoms, the symptoms often became less intense. As Freud worked with Breuer, he developed a
theory that many mental illnesses originated in a traumatic past event. Freud had patients recall the
experience to bring it to consciousness, then confront the event intellectually and emotionally. This
would get rid of the underlying causes of a mental illness. Freud and Breuer published their
findings in Studies in Hysteria in

Diction Of Tupac s Poetry
Modernism has been overwhelmed with works empathizing helplessness and depression. While
modern poets often tell the truth about life s difficulties, the product of this often results in
discouraging millennial interest in the art. In contrast to the helpless of other poets, Tupac
Shakur exhibits defiant resolutions in his poems. Shakur s diction exhibits a necessary
component when discussing historical and sociological aspects: he shows his audience how to
overcome adversity. As a poet, Shakur s work is a direct reflection of his life. He blends every
aspect of his life together everything from gang violence to poverty and displays it to his
audience, Now Tupac had a difficult childhood, moving frequently around the New York City
burrows from Brooklyn to the Bronx. He got an education early on from his mother in radical
politics, but he also witnessed some of the hardships of life. His mother, she was struggling from
a crack cocaine addiction (McCrudden). Tupac s childhood in the home of Black Panther Party
members forced him to see different aspects of life. Many of his poems, such as Life Through
My Eyes.. By Tupac , display the challenges he faced by using violent diction. In addition to the
poverty and violence, many of the schools where he lived offered poor education. Tupac managed
to include this piece of his past life in the diction of his poetry. These aspects are presented to his
audience in simple diction such as lowercase letters and substituting number

Gates says that cheap electricity should be distributed to poor countries to protect them from indoor
air pollution that comes from burning dung, or anything else to cook. Shah reiterates by saying, and
backs up, that investing into renewable energysources are the better choice for poor countries. Not
only for them because of its reliability but cheaper for us, the audience, to invest in for them. Even

His other clear objective from this article is displaying Gates as an idiot for suggesting coal
consumption and siding with a scientist, Bjorn Lomborg, who is made clear to be a terrible
person. The blog by Bill Gates on Gatesnotes titled Two Videos that Illuminate Energy Poverty
gives us, obviously, two videos from Bjorn Lomborg only after a small disclaimer from Gates. In
the post, Gates argues that developed countries should discover ways to make green energy
cheaper or make nonrenewable energy cleaner. Individuals in developed countries are trying to set
usage limits on third world countries when it is completely hypocritical. Energy assists the
country to elevate themselves out of poverty and help save lives. Gates attached videos of
Lomborg s to backup how big of a difference energy has on poverty levels. Also, Gates
specifically says, I certainly don t agree with Bjorn on everything, but I always find him worth
listening to. Shah attacks Gates for agreeing with everything this crazy scientist says when Gates
clearly states that he does not.
Being an article in Time, the majority of the audience is going to be older people. Time is a news
magazine, and news is often directed at older people because, generally, they want to be informed
about the world around them more than younger people. This article, in particular, is targeting an

The War Of World War II
September 3, 1939 was the day that many people s lives changed. That is date of which Great
Britain entered World War II. Great Britain would fight alongside the allied powers, which
consisted of USSR, France, and US. The axis powers, which consisted of Germany, Italy, and
Japan, would try and bomb the allied powers into surrender. This brutal war would go on for
nearly five and a half years, finally ending on May 8, 1945. The end of the war marked both
celebration and mourning. For Great Britain some major turning points during the war were the
Battle of Britain, and the invasion scare. Many families had to make sacrifices during the war,
some of them life changing. The people of Great Britain refused to go to war and were in denial,
many of them would not listen to future Prime Minister Winston Churchill. Churchill warned the
people about Hitler and Nazi Germany . Because of everybody s fear of the war, Britain was not
prepared when it came time for the country to enter the war. After World War I
, Great Britain
wanted to avoid any war at all costs. At the time, Neville Chamberlain was the Prime minister of
Great Britain and he wanted to keep peace throughout the country. After the first world war,
Chamberlain primarily focused on being in the League of Nations and that led to the deterioration
of his armed forces and turn the focus to the inside of the country. The League of Nations was
founded after World War I and it was there to ensure that war never broke out again .

Marketing Processes
Marketing plans 1. Introduction The marketing process has gained more and more significance
within the modern day business setting. As competition intensifies and the demands of customers
exponentially increase, the economic agents are forced to devise and implement new strategies that
attract and retain customers. In other words, it is no longer sufficient for a company to provide its
customers with high quality products and services, but it has to also make use of complementary
solutions, such as marketing strategies. In such a setting, the marketing effort has gained more
momentum within the business community, but also outside it. Marketing is now encountered in
business offers, educational offers or entertainment events. Throughout this project then, the focus
falls on two distinctive dimensions of marketing: the marketing plans, on the one hand, and the
application of marketing principles within the movie industry. 2. Marketing plans The marketing
plans represent the focal point of the marketing process since they integrate all the information valid
and necessary in the marketing endeavor. Marketing plans for instance integrate the research on the
target market, the identification of which is essential for final business success. The marketing
plans also integrate the analysis of the industry and the competition in an effort to help the company
consolidate the most useful competitive strategy and its points of difference. The marketing plans

How The Great Depression Affected Germany
Germany s economic troubles only increased during the period known as the Great Depression.
The Great Depression weakened economies worldwide and caused massive unemployment rates
(Castillo, German economy in the 1920s). The Depression put millions of people out of jobs which
led to thousands of being left on the streets to starve (Goldstein 7). According to John Maynard
Keynes, a European economist, the Great Depression was the greatest economic catastrophe... of
the modern world (Flagel 25). While the Great Depression affected multiple countries around the
world, no country was hit as hard as Germany(Callery 16; Dowsewll 20). The Great Depression
affected Germany the most for multiple reasons. The first reason why Germany was affected the
most by the Great Depression was because of the tariffs imposed on Germany (Castillo, German

The Germans were finding loopholes in the restrictions placed upon them by the Treaty of

At first Hitler began rebuilding the armies in secrecy, but in 1934 Germany s army expanded

Weight Loss Plan For A New Year s Resolution
I was determined to keep searching for more ways to lose weight! For some unknown reason, I

resolutions, until the end of the year. Out of all the things that I couldn t stay committed to during
a New Year s resolution, I didn t care about them, like I cared about sticking to a resolution to lose
weight. I began to closely analyze all the possible reasons why I failed at whatever traditional
weight lossplan, I tried in the past. I also had to analyze why I wasn t able to consistently keep the
weight off, without strict dieting. I hated how strict dieting made me feel! I couldn t help but
believe that, there had to be a way for me to lose weight and keep it off without punishing myself
with strict dieting. I knew that if I was going to lose weight and keep it off, that I had to use
healthier weight loss strategies other than the ones that I d used in the past. I also knew that, in
order for me to have continued success, that my resolution had to consist of me losing weight,
without ever making a New Year s resolution. I decided to start with not eatingany fried foods. I felt
like this was the best choice. I learned that fried foods were not only unhealthy for my waistline,

  • 2. The Demographics Of The U.s. Essay The demographics of the U.S. are forever evolving. No generation is like the one before. Trends come and go, ethnic diversity increases, and social norms change. Therefore, as expected, the need and attitude towards particular products changes. There are very few consumer items that are able to withstand the test of time. Those products are typically essential lifestyle or hygiene goods. For example, products like bath soap have been around for years and it is unlikely that the need for them go away anytime soon. With that being said, it does not mean that products like soaps, shampoos, etc. do not need to evolve with the changing desires of our country. They too must also add variety into their product mix, as well as changetheir methods of marketing to keep up with the times. Let s now take a look at some demographic trends that will impact how companies market in the U.S. for the years to come. Hispanic Population Growth Hispanics are the fastest growing ethnic/racial group in America. In 2014, the U.S. Census Bureau reported that Hispanics make up over 17% of the population and it projects that they will account for nearly 30% of the population by the year 2060. This change will greatly impact what products companies put out on the market, who they market them to, and how they market them. A 2010 report on demographics conducted by the Nielsen Company revealed that Hispanics spend more money on baby items (formula, diapers, etc.). Diaper brands Pampers, Huggies, and ... • 3. What Is The Theme Of Psychology In Lord Of The Flies In the movie Lord of the Flies, a group of boys become stranded on an island and have to survive until someone comes to rescue them. Though they may seem like innocent school boys at first, many of them soon regress into a barbaric way of life becoming hunters . With the island split in two, the themes of personalitytheory, aggression, and adolescence become more prevalent. Focusing on Ralph, Piggy, Jack and Simon, we can further delve into these topics. In class, we studied Sigmund Freud s personality theory; the Id, ego, and superego combine to create the behavior of humans. The Id is an unconscious part of our personalities that work to satisfy our basic urges, needs and desires. In the movie, Jack, the leader of the hunters , is a perfect representation of the Id. He is obsessed with hunting and killing, which are instinctual and primal. He and his group accidentally kill Simon thinking he is a monster. Even though it was an accident, Jack shows no remorse. Later on, his group purposely killed Piggy and again, he shows no remorse. He reasons that everything he is doing is in order for him and his group to survive and is necessary. Instead of cheering up the younger boys, he says You better start learning to live with yourself, because we ain t gonna get rescued (Lord of the Flies). He sets in everyone s, except Ralph and Piggy s, minds that they have to be in survival mode. Throughout the whole production, Jack was the human representation of the minds Id. ... • 4. The Ethics Of Computer Forensics In a world where technology is increasingly becoming the way of life, it was only a matter of time before crime was no longer just in the streets but happening online as well. Criminals now get a new approach to carry out their crimes with the use of computers. Since technology is more like a murder mystery than catching the bad guy in the act, a new discipline of forensics needed to be put into place. This is known as computer forensics. Forensic scienceis any science used for the purpose of law. In the case of computer forensics it is the discipline that combines elements of law and computer science to collect and analyze data from computer systems, networks, wireless communications, and storage devices in a way that is admissible as evidence in a court of law (U.S. Cert, 2008). Meaning if you do something illegal on the Internet it can be found. Since the widespread use of computers, computer crime has caused an increase in computer investigations during the twenty first century. Some reasons for investigation include: identity theft, such as stolen social security and credit card numbers, to find evidence of a cheating spouse, to investigate hackers on a computer system, to find evidence of child pornography, and much more. History of Computer Forensics The 1970s were when military investigators first started finding instances of computer related criminal activity and needed a more comprehensive approach for solving these technical crimes. These first computer ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Current Canadian Human Rights Act Introduction The current Canadian Human Rights Act was issued in 1977 to ensure equal opportunities for Canadian employees in the working environment. The main goal is to stop discriminatory practices. According to the Canadian Human Rights Act (1977) itself, these practices can be based on race, national or ethnic origin, color, religion, age, sex, sexual orientation, marital status, family status, disability or conviction for an offence for which a pardon has been granted or in respect of which a record suspension has been ordered . Since its issuance date, many discriminatory practices could be discussed publicly and in case of disagreements aligned by the court. Although, still today discriminatory practices take part in business life in small and big forms and the problem might never be fully solved. Therefore, this essay discusses the function of the Act, its benefits and consequences for Canadian employees and employers and gives examples from past legal cases. It focusses on the part provision of goods, services, facilities or accommodation customarily available to the general public to limit the size and give deeper insights into the certain topic. Primarily consisting of working class to middle class residents, the neighborhood is both residential and commercial. With a population of 90,000, it is home to both long term residents and recent additions. When the neighborhood was first formed, few people dared to live on its uninviting land. Snake infested swamps and wolves nearby kept the area from being developed or populated for many years. However, towards the mid 19th century, farmers learned how to make the land profitable through draining swamps and diminishing the surrounding woods to provide land and prevent against local predators. They utilized the remaining marsh land for livestock grazing and growing wheat, while using the dry land for fruits and vegetables.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 7. Summary Of John Locke s Second Treatise Of Government In John Locke s Second Treatise of Government, Locke discusses a lot of important topics. The topics discussed are the state of nature, common wealth, a civil society, equality of men, and much more. In my writing, I will be discussing a few of these topics. I will be explaining how John Locke s account of the state of nature set up and support his argument for a liberal political structure of civil society. John Lockebegins the Second Treatise of Government by discussing the state of nature. This state of nature that he talks about is the equality and freedom all men receive at birth and the liberty they have when it comes to their lives and property. This means that the decisions a man makes cannot be narrowed by another man, making them all living in the same state, also known as the state of nature. Locke then quotes Richard Hooker on the obligation to mutual love amongst all men (8). Hooker talks about how equality is the fundament of a civil society and how if a man wants something, he must give it first. John Locke then talks about how when a man... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He starts off this chapter by saying that God having made man such a creature, that in his own judgement, it was not good for him to be alone... (42). While saying that men should always work together, Locke also talks about how a man can also join a political society where every one of the members hath quitted this natural power, resigned it up into the hands of the community in all cases that lished by it (46). Here, Locke is saying how if a man wants to be a part of the political party, he must get rid of some or all the things that a state of nature provides to him. Locke believes this is how a political society should work because if a man wishes to live in a society ran off political ideas, he must give up his state of nature to live in a civil political society which does not give him more freedom or rights than any other ... • 11. Pay It Forward Movie Essay Pay it Forward: Try it Instead of paying back a favor, what if you paid it forward by delivering a different favor to someone else? And then that person would go on to help another. This utopian idea is what drives the movie Pay it Forward. Although this tear jerking movie has its weak parts, it provokes an intriguing theory that is considered to be idealistic, but essentially motivates the audience to do good. Trevor McKinney, played by the prodigy actor Haley Joel Osmet is a gifted 7th grade boy who lives with his mother Arlene on the outskirts of Las Vegas. Arlene, who is superbly acted by Helen Hunt, struggles to make ends meet with her two waitressing jobs and her alcohol addiction. On Trevor s first day of 7th grade, he is assigned... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... And for these types of movie goers, it most likely did everything in that sorts to change their lives. Yet, the idea of paying it forward can be considered unrealistic. You can t really have high expectations for the world. In fact, Sidney (David Ramsey), another supporting cast member effected by the movement said The world is a shithole, pardon my French an shit. Quite frankly, Sidney is right. People are greedy and its hard to think paying it forward could be that effective, because most people don t have the integrity to pass on the favor once they get what they want. With that being said, the movie paints a story that is a little picture perfect. However, even if the idea of paying it forward is idealistic, the movie sufficiently succeeded its goal to inspire and have the audience to consider the idea. Although this movie is life changing, it doesn t change lives completely through happiness. Bringing tissues to the movie might be a helpful tip. Most life changing movies are impactful because of tragedy. And although this is true, this movie could of done without it. The ending seems irrelevant and not entirely suited to the tone of the film. The motivation to pay it forward was already casted upon the audience. Therefore, a tragic ending is debatable depending on the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Marx And Friedrich Engels s Impact On The 21st Century Looking back at these two works written in the mid to late 19th century, it has become clear the benefits and detrimental aspects of the opinions of the writers. The statements and arguments made by each author will be considered in the general impact each philosopher had on the 21st century. In 1848 when Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels wrote the first edition of the book that would define their worldview, they saw an issue with the fragmentation of the communist beliefs and were commissioned to put the beliefs of the communists into a clear document to demonstrate what they stood for. Many of their ideas are now outdated, and some have been implemented in current society with unsuccessful results. Marx advocates the violent overthrow of governments to equalize the people of the country, rationalizing it as a way to overthrow the regime of the bourgeoisie. As seen in history, this can often lead to a state where the country is plunged into civil war or genocide, with an equally oppressive or more tyrannical leader than before. The attempt of leaders of many nation states to adapt Marx s ideas of nationalizing the agricultural process has resulted in increased costs for the consumers of the nations, and preventing them from negotiating trade contracts. The spread of globalization has increased, but contrary to the beliefs of Marx, there has not been a push to remove the borders of nation states because of the similarities of the nation s workforces. • 13. Colorado Legalization And The Netherlands Drug Policy Colorado Legalization and The Netherlands Drug Policy Amanda McKeel Monmouth University Abstract The purpose of this paper is to discuss the legalization of marijuana in Colorado as well as the Netherlands drug policy. It has been found that even though Colorado has legalized marijuana, there are provisions that must be followed. The Netherlands however have not legalized marijuana, but they do feel that seeing possession of marijuana is not a crime, so therefore marijuana is tolerated. Colorado s society does not agree with this legalization due to adolescent use, however the Colorado Amendment 64 protects this. The Netherlands is seen as too liberal, but they are only doing what is in the best interest of the users. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The main question is, with marijuana being legalized in Colorado and tolerated in the Netherlands, what is the affect of such legalization? The legalization of marijuana, for some, is not something to take lightly, but I do not think it is the worst drug. In my own opinion heroin and cocaine are two drugs that should not be legal because of the harmful effects they cause. Marijuana, in my own opinion is the lesser of the two evils, so if states and countries want to legalize it, they can do what they please. Now I know some people would disagree with me on this, but everyone is entitled to their own opinions. I would rather see marijuana legalized then heroin or cocaine. Colorado Colorado s legalization of marijuana began in 2000 with the Colorado Amendment 20. Authors construct a story with realistic characters to enable readers in familiarizing themselves with the character. In Sandra Cisneros Eleven and Ray Bradbury s The Veldt, both authors reveal realistic characters by using descriptive writing with the use of literary devices, utilizing dialogue that reflects their young ages and developing the characters by encountering various types of narrations. The authors use realistic characters to provide a better reflection about the coming of age as a theme. Writers utilize descriptive writing to create a clear depiction of people, objects or events by emphasizing important... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He [George] could feel it on his neck, still, like a hot paw...And the smell of blood. (Bradbury 3). The author uses a simile to compare the heat of the sun to a hot paw in the African veldt which emphasizes the positive thoughts of the children. The smell of blood refers to death, which transitions into an unexpected thought from children. Bradbury uses a technique called foreshadowing by contrasting the positive thoughts and negative thoughts of the children. This explains the variation in the age of Peter as his thoughts begin to expand. Therefore, descriptive writing with the use of literacy devices reflect the overall theme; coming of age to create realistic characters. Authors use dialogues as a technique to display an important conversation between two characters or more. Realistic characters would comprise dialogues consisting apparent speech manners of a human being. Through dialogues, characters can interact in a way that could reveal expositional information (age) about a character which seems to be realistic. For example, Cisneros exaggerates the nervousness in Rachel, when she says, That s not, I don t, you re not...Not mine (Cisneros 2) after a classmate declares that the red sweater belongs to Rachel. Kubrick relies on editing and sound design to aid the horrifying and creepy feel that was made in the in the movie. All throughout the movie, the unique sound design and strong editing techniques create many diverse effects on the viewer, however the most evident effect created a sense of fear and suspense. One scene specifically emerges as a skillfully edited part in the movie. In this scene, Wendy and Danny Torrance leave the hotel to walk through the hedge maze. Wendy and Danny both wandered around inside the massive maze. The scene then cuts to a shot of Jack walking up to a model of the maze that is in the lobby. The scene then cuts to a close up of the model of the maze. Tiny versions of Wendy and Danny are shown walking through the maze. The Jack and the viewer can hear Wendy and Danny talking even though he is not with them. This helps the allusion that Jack is viewing them experience the maze. As the scene proceeds, it cuts to clips of Wendy and Danny walking in the actual maze. The maze scene is a case of parallel editing. • 18. The Role Of Powers Of Modern Government INTRODUCTION A trend very much in vogue to day in all democratic countries is that only a relatively small part of the total legislative output emanates directly from the legislature. The bulk of the legislation is promulgated by the executive and is known as Delegated Legislation. So a simple definition of Delegated Legislation is that its a type of law which can be made quickly and is not made by Parliament or a law made by a person or a body to whom the Parliament has delegated law making power. Such legislation is made by a body by virtue of the powers conferred on it by a statute. Usually what happens is that the legislature enacts a statute covering only the general principles and policies relating to the subject matter in question, and confers rule making powers on government, or some other administrative agency, to fill in the details. This technique of delegated legislation has assumed central importance in modern Administrative Process. Delegated Legislation is being increasingly used as a major component of the method of modern government. Parliament makes only skeleton, simple framework simple laws with no details which is put on by someone else other than the Parliament and the reason behind that is time because Parliament s time is very limited. So the Parliament delegates the authority of making law to others. Delegated Legislation is so multitudinous that the statute book will not only be incomplete but even misleading unless it be read along with the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Parallelization can be easily accomplished, if a processing (a work) can be easily split into n units. Hence the core focus of MapReduce programming framework have been to solve the partition problem. The Problem : Algorithms that are usually used to process data are relatively simple , compared to the amount of time it takes to finish execution. In order for the data processing task to finish in a reasonable amount of time, the task needs to be split into potentially thousands of machines in a cluster. An iterator of inputvalues from the input list is provided to the Reducer function, which then combines these values to produce a single output value. • 33. Why Does Evil Exist Atheism is the disbelief in the existence of God. Atheism is not a religion, if you think about, baldness cannot be established as a hairstyle! Atheism is wholly based on the fact that evil exists in the world. Evil is the rock of atheism , in simpler terms just means that evil is the foundation of atheism. The existence of evil has been an objection to theism, as evil and Godcannot co exist. I agree with the statement Evil is the rock of atheism to an extent. This is because, in my opinion, evil is suffering whether moral and natural, can be prevented by an omnipotent, omniscient and benevolent god. So why does evil exist? that s the million dollar question. Epicurus a Greek philosopher made a strong argument which supports my argument. Epicurus valid argument is simple but solid. The argument goes as follows: 1. Is God able to, but not willing to prevent evil? Then he/she is malevolent. 2. Is God both able and willing to prevent evil? Then where does evil come from? 3. Is God neither able nor willing to prevent evil? Then why call him God? Theists believe that God is omnipotent, omniscient and benevolent. But, then why does evil exist? I believe the preceding question provides a strong foundation for atheism since it has been unanswerable to theists. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... USTR.gov states, In 2013, U.S. goods imports from sub Saharan African under AGOA and the related GSP program totaled $26.8 billion, more than three times the amount in 2001, the first full year of AGOA trade. There are challenges for this agreement as the site later states, Exports of U.S. poultry have been effectively excluded from the South African market for 15 years due to a range of trade barriers and other measures. This agreement has potential to assist the African economy in numerous ways as the exports can create large revenue for Africaand can also provide employment opportunities. The difficulty lies with changing trade barriers that could begin to cause more products and materials to have higher taxes associated. The second RTA I chose is called Free Trade AreaAgreement (FTAA). As export.gov states, The FTA includes a non binding statement of intent to eliminate barriers to trade in services such as tourism, communications, banking, insurance, management consulting, accounting, law, computer services, and advertising. The benefits are mutual and the United States has made tremendous profit on exports. The site later states, U.S. exports to Israel grew from $2.5 billion in 1985 to $11.3 billion in 2010. • 36. Slavoj Zizek Examined Life Essay Ecology is akin to love. Love is a concept of acceptance, love is the ability to see beyond the rights and wrongs, and love is not meant to stand on a pedestal. Correspondingly, countless of aspects revolve around ecology and its nature. Frequently, people chop down trees for construction and see it as a benefit to society, but people often forget the negative impacts that society falls into once these trees fall. Identically, there are several misconceptions about waste and trash; for instance, waste decomposes, but trash does not. In Examined Life, the continental philosopher Slavoj Zizek further discusses the principles of ecology and how Modern Day America conceptualize it. As an observer, people appreciate the authenticity of the information that is conversed in a specific film, such as a documentary. This film exhibits the rhetorical appeal of ethos because Zizek is ultimately a credible source. As a well rounded philosopher, people can trust and confide in him. Apart from subjects about continental philosophy, Zizek also works on matters relevant to political theory, cultural studies, psychoanalysis, film criticism, Marxism, Hegelianism, and theology. The Protestant Reformation was the 16th century religious, political, intellectual and cultural uprising that splintered Catholic Europe, setting in place the structures and beliefs that would define the continent in the modern era. In northern and central Europe, reformers like Martin Luther and Henry VIII challenged papal authority and questioned the Catholic Church s ability to define Christian practice. On October 31 1517, Martin Luther nailed the 95 thesis to the door of the church of Wittenberg. These theses were up for debate on the errors of indulgences and related matters which, for him, came into the category of useless works which distracted Christians from their true path to salvation, which was faith alone They argued for a religious and political redistribution of power into the hands of Bible. • 41. Fun Home By Jeffery Eugenides Essay What does it mean to be queer? The Merriam Webster Dictionary states that queer is differing in some odd way from what is usual or normal ( Definition of Queer ). By this definition, all humans are queer in their own way. When looking at the novel Middlesex, written by Jeffery Eugenides, and the graphic novel Fun Home, written by Alison Bechdel, queerness is seen in multiple aspects within the characters and styles of writing. Eugenides writes Middlesex through the all knowing character of Cal, who was born and raised a female but later discovered to have both male and female genitals. During the time of puberty, her queerness becomes more present as she realizes how much she differs from her classmates. When a doctor finally tells her that her genetic makeup is male, Cal runs away to take on this new identity. Contrasting this to the graphic novel Fun Home, Bechdel writes a memoir of her life, retelling the story of her familyand the revelation of her sexual identity. A strong emphasis is put on Bechdel s father, who is found to have homosexual tendencies, and the relationship the two form through their queerness. Queerness, in the sense of non normativity, is seen within the texts of Middlesex and Fun Home and can be compared and contrasted by the ways in which the characters identify themselves as queer, how the styles of narratives reflect queerness, and how the families of the protagonists are incidentally queer themselves.
