Questionnaire And Questionnaire On The Questionnaire
Summary of respondents For the purpose of the study, the questionnaire was prepared to collect some
background information of the participants in this survey. It will help to identify the respondents and
how the samples seem to be. But for the reason of anonymity, there is no comprehensive information
about respondents. It is agreed to make the respondents information in anonymous throughout the
study, and not used any other purpose, other than academic. To achieve that purpose the questionnaire
was prepared to get some meaningful, hence collect very basic information of respondents
background. To get the maximum, and quality data sample used the fresh graduates from ordinary
level of schooling. Those respondents have high impact and a potential way to get the view for this
survey. At the same time, the questionnaire was prepared in second most commonly used language
(English) to communicate with school leavers and middle aged people across the country. The
information that was collected from participants very from, age, sex, educational qualification and the
bank that they most frequently used to get services. These will illustrate whether the respondents are
fitted into the survey. The total number of valid respondents are 180, there is no invalid or missing
sample. Among the total 180 participants in the survey total number of male participants are 88, that
covers 48.9% of the total. And 92 respondents are female and that is 51.1%. (Chart) When considering

Asstatuge Research Paper
Wild horses of Asstatuge live in Maryland. Asstatuge is an Island so the horses are shown in water.
The horses on Asstatug Island survive from each other. Asstatuge s horses are herds of horses so they
do not have an owner. That s why they are called wild horses because there don t have an owner. One
Reason, Asstauge horses would have to drink the water from the Island. So Therethere survival relies
on the water from the Island. Also, the horses would sometimes swim in the water. Then, the horses
are in herds because they are protected by each other. Also, the horses will return to the Island. Wild
ponies of Chincoteague are from Asstatuge because of the poor weather in Asststuge. Also, horses
from Asstatuge are pony size.

Increasing Faculty Resistance And General Education...
Decreasing Faculty Resistance to General Education Assessment The assessment of general education
courses within the realm of higher education has been a topic of concern and some contention as
external regulatory bodies, accrediting agencies, and donors have become increasingly interested in
seeing quantifiable results from these courses. While universities strive to maintain effective
assessment of their programs, one area that consistently falls by the wayside is the assessment of
general education courses. These courses have been difficult for many universities to effectively
assess due to a multitude of reasons, ranging from the large number of general education courses
offered, to a lack of support and cohesion on the part of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The anticipated outcome of the study will be a decrease in faculty resistance to assessment efforts in
general education courses.
Friedman Stone (2002) highlight an issue on this topic: that colleges and departments are receiving
pressure, both externally, from regulatory and accrediting bodies, and internally, from board members
and upper administration, to expand upon general education assessment efforts (Friedman Stone,
2002). This pressure is falling on the faculty who teach these courses. The faculty, in turn, are resistant
to administrative efforts to dictate what, if any, assessments are being given in their classes. Although
Friedman Stone address this resistance, more research must be done on how to effectively overcome
it. In another article, Banta et Al. (1993), stated that, there is tension between the two principle
purposes of assessment: demonstrating accountability and improving curricula, instruction, and
student services. Governing and accrediting bodies are more concerned with demonstrating
accountability since the stipulations of their investment in a university are measured through
quantifiable program benchmarks. However, the teaching faculty value assessment in terms of
curriculum improvement and as a way to refine instructional methodology. Banta et Al s quote
highlights this disconnect. According to another article published by Kramer (2006) the tension

Analyzing Morrie Lou Gehrig s Disease
Every year, roughly 5,600 people are diagnosed with ALS or Lou Gehrig s disease. ALS is an
incurable and fatal nervous system disease that weakens muscles and impacts physical function that
can last for a few years slowly weakening its victims until the lungs fail and they suffocate. Morrie
Schwartz, a sociology professor at Brandeis University, was one of the 0.0001% of the world
population diagnosed with this fatal disease in 1994. Despite the fact that his chapter in the book of
life was coming to an end he was not done teaching just yet. Before he goes Morrie tries to teach
people to live showing their emotions, to value their families, and to accept the fact of death. One
thing Morrie Schwartz tries to teach the world is to live while ... Show more content on

At his end Morrie came to the realization that death is natural and one should accept this and focus on
the essentials, living as if this day was the last. He iterates this in his line To know you re going to die,
and to be prepared for it at any time... that way you can actually be more involved in your life while
you re living (Albom 81). Morrie believes that people lived today like they might die tomorrow people
will care less about material things and by extent they should be less greedy and kinder. While I can
agree with his logic as I follow it, I cannot accept that this would work in reality. This train of thought
isn t common for a reason. The only people I know of who think like Morrie Suggests are reckless
people in stories. When I read enough of the Fourth Tuesday this idea made me stop to imagine life
like this. Personally, it lead to a train of thought questioning the point of life. Try as I might I had no
answer, let alone one as simple as 42. I later realized when writing this line that this is likely why we
seem to avoid the topic of death as it brings up too many questions about life that people don t have
answers to. These questions can be dangerous to those with a less stable mindset. This is why I cannot
support this chapter in the textbook of Morrie s final

A complex between crystal violet and iodine (CV I) is formed within the cell. The structure that
determines the Gram reaction is the cell wall structure and not that shape. Bacillus cereus and
Staphylococcus aureus are stained purple in the Gram staining as they have a high amount of
peptidoglycan which forms the outer layer of the cell. This thick peptidoglycan layer is able to trap the
purple CV I complex even after alcohol treatment. Escherichia coli is stained pink in the Gram
staining and it is a Gram negative bacteria. Gram negative bacterias usually have a thin peptidoglycan
layer compared to Gram positive bacterias. The peptidoglycan layer is located between the plasma
membrane and an outer membrane containing lipopolysaccharide and this outer layer is dissolved
during the alcohol treatment which results in a loss of the CV I complex, hence the pink safranin
counterstain is trapped by the peptidoglycan layer (ASM, 2004). Gram staining allows us to observe
the characteristics and cell size, shape and arrangement. For Bacillus cereus, endospores were also
viewed during microscopic observation. During Gram staining, the most crucial step in determining
the outcome is the decolourisation by alcohol step. If alcohol is applied too long, the alcohol may
wash all the CV I complex that is trapped in peptidoglycan layer. Therefore, alcohol is only applied
for 30 seconds

The Journalist, Poet And Author G. K.
The journalist, poet and author G. K. Chesterton is perhaps best known for his series of detective short
stories, Father Brown, adapted into a TV series in 2013. Nevertheless, he should perhaps be best
known as a leading figure in the renaissance of Catholic thought in England his writings are known to
have influenced many figures in 20th century Christian apologetics, including, most famously, C. S.
Lewis, who discussed Chesterton s influences on his life and work in his autobiography, Surprised by
Joy (Lewis, 1955). His perspectives on English identity, as well as the nature of nationality and social
belonging, disseminated through various essays and articles in London newspapers (including his own
publication, G. K. s Weekly), were both based on a firm belief in the importance of Christian
traditions in society, in addition to vehement opposition against Puritan ideas, arguably in response to
Victorian attitudes. Throughout his work, Chesterton focused on what he saw as the needs and values
of the ordinary man, extolling an optimistic view of everyday life as extraordinary. The need for
symbolism and idealism is, in his opinion, an expression of this view; it is the main focus of his 1904
work, The Napoleon of Notting Hill. In this novel, Chesterton explores the idea of national and
regional identity. Set in a 1984 that is almost identical to Chesterton s own time (except for the
random selection of the King), it explores the aftermath of the establishment of the

The Nature Of Villain In The Destructors By Graham Greene
The Destructors, by Graham Greene Samantha Webber 10/13/17 A villain is someone who commits
deplorable actions against others by going out of their way to inflict harm on others. In Destructors by
Graham Greene, the character Trevor T. is presented as an evil person with malicious intent, and is a
villain because he is unsympathetic to others and destroyed someone s home that meant very much to
them. The nature of villainy allows the reader to understand the theme of code of behavior. T. is
unsympathetic toward others. In the climax of the story, he intentionally destroys Thomas s house; one
of the only houses left after the London Blitz built by Christopher Wren. In the process, T. goes to
almost extreme measures to make sure the house is fully decimated; he locks Thomas in his own
bathroom, leaving him there with small rations until morning. T. came from an upperclass family, but
then he came down in the world, implying that something happened within the family that affected
their career. Based on T. s determination to destroy the house, I swear I can fix it, it can be inferred
that T. wants to take out his resent about losing everything on someone else. Also, having a lack of
empathy can be linked with psychopathy, a mental illness that prevents those who have from feeling
sympathy, and are generally contain a charming demeanor, like T., [T.] caught his elbow and
supported him. T. shows a calm and polite demeanor, giving the impression that he

Why Is Medea Filicide
Argumentative Essay Rough Draft Filicide is the deliberate act in which a parent kills his or her own
children. In Euripides Medea, Medea commits filicide along with murder of a princess. Medea was
married to a man named Jason who divorced her and married the princess, Glauce. Medea was so
upset by this that she killed his new wife and her and Jason s children. When Medea s quest for
revenge leads her to slaughter innocent beings, and some call her justified, but there are many reasons
why this is not the case. Those who believe Medea was just in her murders agree that Medea was
betrayed by Jason in his breaking of marriage oaths, and in order to bring justice, feels the need to
bring suffering to him. Kim Zarins refers to Medea as ¨a victim of Jason s false love¨ (Zarins 2) Medea
loved him so passionately and then hated him so much that she was unaware of except her desire for
vengeance. David Allsop said,¨ Medea s love of Jason stems from an oath made in the Argonautica, in

Dictionary.com defines justice as ¨the administering of deserved punishment or reward¨ (Justice). As
Princess Glauce her children did nothing to deserve their murders, Medea is clearly unjust in this act.
But in order to hurt Jason as much as possible, which, in her opinion, is only fair, Medea takes away
what was most important to him: his children and his new wife, a potential child bearer. David Sacks
says, ¨The primary purpose of marriage in ancient Greece was to produce children¨ (1). Jason said, ¨I
wanted... to be the father of royal children bound by blood to our two children: a thing which would
have brought welfare¨ (Euripides ?). Jason makes it clear that being a father is very important to him,
not only to his living children, but hopefully to royal children in the future. Medea takes away this
opportunity, causing maximum suffering to

Why The Fortunes Of Kings Weston House Changed Between...
Why The Fortunes Of Kings Weston House Changed Between 1700 And The Present Day
Kings Weston House was built on the side of a ridge probably with idyllic pastoral views (as was the
fashion in the 1700 s). Kings Weston House was probably built on this site because of those views, it
was surrounded by countryside with a few grazing cattle s of sheep and most likely farmland visible,
but the main view from the house was the River Severn and the rolling green hills of Wales visible on
the other side. These views made it the perfect country house for a wealthy family. Today the view
from the house is very different, you can see the built up council estates of Sea Mills and Lawrence

He wanted to build it on the same site as the Tudor mansion because it was in the ideal place for
everything he needed. It was near the village of Shirehampton where he could hire people as servants
to help run the house, and as they came from the village he did not have to pay to house them. It was
only five miles from the city of Bristol so he could easily get there to sort out business, or for him and
his family to enjoy what the city had to offer them. It was also very close to Sea Mills, where he
wanted to build up the roman harbour because Bristol docks were beginning to lose trade to Docks in
Liverpool. This is because Liverpool dock was a lot easier for ships to get to, unlike Bristol where
they had to travel up the bendy and very tidal River Avon. So by building a floating harbour in Sea
Mills ships would not have to travel all the way up the Avon. But Sea Mills harbour soon failed
because it did not have sufficient links with Bristol. Also if you wanted to be elected in Parliament you
had to have a certain amount of land and as Kings Weston has 60 acres of land it was the ideal place to
build the new house.
The current house was designed by John Vanbrugh. He was born in Londonin 1664 and came to
Bristol in 1710 at the age of 46. John Vanbrugh was first a foot soldier, then a play righter in 1696,
writing plays like Loves Last

Isambard Kingdom Brunel s Groundbreaking Bridges
1. Introduction Isambard Kingdom Brunel was unequivocally one of the greatest engineers to have
ever lived in this country, or any other. He was recently voted as the second greatest Briton of all time,
second only to Winston Churchill, which is testament to the physical legacy he left behind.
Additionally, he was represented in the 2012 London Olympic opening ceremony which outlined the
industrial revolution and the forging of modern Britain. His influence in almost all branches of
engineering is vast, from shipping to the railway. This project highlights Brunel s civil engineering
work by examining some of the bridges that he built. Brunel s solutions were groundbreaking and
critics often questioned his designs. The Clifton Suspension Bridge had the longest span of any bridge
in the world when it was completed; the Maidenhead Bridge was both the largest spanning brick arch
bridge and the first to use a flattened arch form; and the Royal Albert Bridge was built using lenticular
iron trusses.
2. Historical Review Brunel was the son of French parents: Marc Brunel (a civil engineer) and Sophia
Kingdom. He was born in Portsmouth where his father worked as a practising engineer. Brunel was
taught by his father from a young age and as a result had a solid grasp of basic engineering principals.
He studied in France, attending one of the best secondary schools in Paris, before serving an
apprenticeship with a clockmaker. After this he returned to England and assisted his

##torical Analysis Of Maya Angelou s The Fight She Fought
The Fight She Fought Ariel Worrell Wilkes Community College The Fight She Fought Maya Angelou
s speech (August 31, 2008) at Coretta Scott King s funeral was very successful. She drivingly outlined
the issues that Coretta Scott King fought for throughout her life, Angelou did so in a way that allowed
those listening to feel connected to King. Angelou makes it clear that King s life was one of great
importance. She delivered the information in a relevant and important way. Her use of relevancy,
audience connections, and humor allowed her to deliver the eulogy meaningfully. Audience
Connection is essential when delivering a speech, Angelou mastered the technique as seen in this
speech. Angelou (2008) opens the Eulogy with a popular hymnal, I open my mouth to the Lord and I
won t turn back, no. I will go, I shall go. I ll see what the end is gonna be. . This allowed her to make a
connection with the audience. Many people knew this hymnal; therefore, they felt as if she is one of
them. Angelou (2008) went on to say Those of us who gather here, principalities, presidents, senators,
those of us who run great companies, who know something about being parents, who know something
about being preachers and teachers those of us.. . Those of us referred to everyone in the audience,
Angelou (2008) was including everyone and in doing so she was making an audience connection.
Angelou (2008) then said we owe something from this minute on; so that this gathering is not just
another footnote on the pages of history. We owe something. . No one wants to believe that their
actions will be forgotten. By this point in the speech Angelou had already made an audience
connection and by doing so has allowed for a call to action. This call to action is a very important part
of the speech because it developed relevancy in a way that was consequential. One tool that Angelou
used while giving the eulogy was relevancy. Following the hymnal, Angelou (2008) begins by saying
In the midst of national tumult, in the medium of international violent uproar.. Violent uproar is all
around, which makes this quote from the speech incredibly relevant. The entire Eulogy by

Literary Analysis Of The Hot Zone By Ebola
The Hot Zone is all about the events that surrounded the outbreak of Ebola that occurred in the 1980s.
The story begins when some personnel affiliated with a laboratory facility that conducts tests on
monkeys mishandle the virus, in the process causing risk to the general population. In the process of
containing the disease, Preston indulges in past similar knowledges in the wake of significant health
risk. He (Preston) has adopted the tone of viral panic, vulnerability and regret to express the
unimaginable suffering of victims that were directly and indirectly affected by Ebola.
The book revolves around a couple of scientists and medical practitioners who reflect a vast
experience in hot agents. It was set in the 1980s and uses the point of view of the main character
called Preston to describe the death and exposure of an expatriate from France called Monet Charles.
In his tone he expressed the prevalent themes that came out of the storyline which is tortures of the
victims, death and the human fear attached to it. As a matter of fact, the appeal and the power of the
literature are derived from the fear and suspense that the readers evoke as they read through. The gory
and horrific demise of Charles Monet, Peter Cardinal, and Nurse Mayinga exposes the audience to the
edge with respect to the dread and anticipation of what will ensue in the case that the virus spreads to
the general population.
The tone of viral panic and regret are supported by the dominant feeling of

The Theme of Inequality in Harper Lee s To Kill a Mockingbird
Inequality is a theme that runs throughout all of history. Harper Lee uses the theme of inequality in her
book, To Kill a Mockingbird. Tom Robinson must deal with inequality when he is accused of a crime
he didn t commit because no one will trust a black man over a white man. The Cunningham family
must face discrimination because of their lack of money. Scout even faces inequality when she tries to
play with Jem and Dill. The theme of inequality is a strong one in Lee s book, and her use of
inequality doesn t only define racism, but also discrimination based on wealth and gender.
To Kill a Mockingbird is set in Maycomb County, Alabama in the 1930s. There is a myriad of families
in this small county. Blacks, farmers, businessmen, and strong single women all call Maycomb
County home. The book is told from the point of view of a little girl named Jean Louise Finch, or as
many of the townspeople call her, Scout. Her father, whom they call Atticus, raises her with her
brother Jem. A majority of the book deals with the trial of Tom Robinson, during which Scout begins
to understand that not everybody is as fair as Atticus, raised Jem and her to be.
Unquestionably, the biggest form of inequality in To Kill a Mockingbird is racism against African
Americans. Scout never discriminated against blacks like the other people in town because of her
interaction with Calpurnia; however she catches her first glimpse of racism after her father decides to
take the case of Tom Robinson.

Persuasive Essay On Prohibition Of Drugs
Laws that prohibit the possession and use of street drugs are important as their aim is to protect the
user, those around them, and society in general from undue harm. There has been a great push during
the last 10 years to legalize marijuana and decriminalize other drugs such as cocaine and heroin on the
basis that the recreational user, and even the hard core addict, may not be causing significant harm to
anyone, beyond their own personal health. In this sense, drug use is viewed as a personal choice and
drug laws trample on personal freedoms without sufficient reason. Additionally, minorities are found
to be arrested and convicted of drug crimes at disproportionate rates when compared to the
demographics of those who use illegal drugs, which some see these type of laws as a tool of legal
oppression, instead of a valid punitive function. Still, there remains sufficient reasons to maintain laws
against the possession and use of controlled substances, such as marijuana, cocaine, and heroin;
though there is a compelling argument for the lessening of the amount punishment of the majority of
users that are caught with small amounts of street drugs. This paper seeks to put forward valid reasons
for the continued prohibition of drugs, while also making a case for the softening of incarceration
policies.
Some argue that the use of mind or mood altering substances is a matter of personal expression. They
assume the philosophical stance that what one individual finds enlightening as a means of helping
them to reach their best personal self, may be a hindrance to others (Mill, 2014). They view the
consumption of a substance as a personal freedom, in their pursuit to find fulfillment and contentment
in life. The argument that drug use is a personal choice has some merit, but loses traction when it is
compared to the reasons societies were formed, how they function, and the benefits the individual

How far do you agree that the Hundred Flowers campaign was a trick designed by Mao to trap his
opponents?
The Hundred Flowers Campaign began in 1957 when Mao Zedong declared in a speech, Let a
hundred schools of thought contend, effectively encouraging criticism from members of the Chinese
Communist Party. After members began pointing out where the party had made mistakes, however,
Mao suddenly reversed this new policy and began the Anti Rightist Movement, condemning the critics
whose opinions he had just previously invited. Was the Hundred Flowers Campaign a trick designed
by Mao to trap his opponents?

Mao s retaliation was severe, precise, and on an enormously large scale. He was obviously poised to
attack, and this hints that the Hundred Flowers Campaign was merely a wily method of enticing Mao s
prey.
There is, on the other hand, much evidence to support that the campaign was a genuine attempt at
reform. In his Contradictions speech, given to leading party workers in early 1957, Mao complained
of the oppressive way some party officials were applying policies and hinted that it was time to begin
permitting intellectuals to voice their opinions. Furthermore, in 1956, he had been tolerant of Hu Feng,
a writer who challenged the idea that all artistic merit should be judged based on Marxist Leninist
values, even as other CCP leaders viciously censured him. These two examples show that Mao,
although previously disdainful of intellectuals, may have begun to see their importance, and thus may
have been honestly inviting their criticism when the Hundred Flowers Campaign began.
In addition, the launching of the Hundred Flowers Campaign may have been triggered by events in
other communist states rather than a desire to trick party opponents. In 1956, Soviet Union leader
Nikita Khrushchev launched an attack on the previous leader Joseph Stalin, dead now for three years,

Phonemes In The English Language
Question 1 Language is a very important system of communication that can be either spoken, written,
or consisting of the use of words in a structured and conventional way. Language has the profound
ability to be communicated either verbally or nonverbally, using the movements of the lips (reading
lips), hands (motions), and even body language as methods of communication. Language widely
varies among communities and one s abilities (hearing, mobility, etc). Phonemes, or the smallest unit
of sounds in a spoken/sign language are imperative due to the fact they help distinguish one word
from another. Each phoneme represents a different sound a person can make. There are forty four
phonemes in the English language, and hundreds of spelling alternatives that can be used to represent
them. Phonemes consist of both vowels and consonants, and can be anywhere from one letter to three,
in no particular order. A phoneme can consist of a single morpheme. Morphemes are the smallest
meaningful unit in the grammar of a language. These additional letters or words that are added on to
existing words help create more meaning for the word itself. i.e. adding s on the end of a word can
suggest either possession or plural. Adding un , meaning not . There are two types of morphemes, free
and bound. A free morpheme is essentially a word, meaning it can stand along and be meaningful. A
bound morpheme usually conveys grammatical notions, and are affixed to free morphemes to slightly

Reasons For Imperialism
According to the textbook, World History: Modern Times by Glencoe. Imperialism is said to be
extension of a nations power over other lands (page 430). The power included control of politics,
economy, and culture life of other countries. Imperialism was global and was controlled by France,
Britian, and the United States. Over time other countries became a part of imperialistic rule. There are
four forms of imperial rule that included: colonies, protectorates, spheres of influence, and economic
imperialism. Colonies were in categories by two different kinds; direct rule and indirect rule. Direct
rule meant that officials from France were sent to be in charge of the colonies. Indirect rule meant that
rulers from that area were in charge. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, Britan saw India as a great source of raw materials because of their canal that made
transporting materials easy and made trade of textiles inexpensive. Being able to get raw materials and
cheap labor from countries who were poor became the drive for imperialism. Another motivation for
imperialism was an effort for countries in power to gain more power over other European countries.
They also wanted to gain more land and they did not stop at using their military force to get what they
wanted! Also imperialism was motivated by moral benefits. The ruling countries believed they were
the superior race because they were white and everyone else was considered primitive . For example,
in the 1850 s the British mistreated Indian soldiers and this led to a war. The ruling countries also
considered it their job to civilize people in other parts of the world. An example can be seen in the fact
that many Indians were impressed by the British and learned English and actually condemned some
tradtions held by the Indians like child

West Africa Essay
West Africa By:
West Africa is know for its rich trading empire, natural landmarks, for their beautifully designed cloth,
and jewelry.
To begin with, West Africa is known for its interesting land features, landforms, and its gradually
changing climate. For example, Lake Chad is one of West Africa s well known features. Lake Chad is
one of Africa s largest freshwater lake, and is know for its shrinking over time in size. Some other
rivers located in this region include the Senegal, Niger, Volta, and the Benue river. Oceans

As you can see, this region has a climate that changes gradually depending on the area it is located.
Natural resources contribute a huge part in this region. The two main products in this region include
gold and salt, which were traded across the Sahara for many years. Another major contributor is the
export of diamonds, gold, and magnesium. Although not many countries in this region are as
fortunate, Ghana relies on the export of these products, which resulted in a Per Capita Income of
$1,900. Although this is a very high income for this region, it is still low compared to the
industrialized world. Even though resources play a huge part in this region, culture also contributes to
what the region is like today. For example, The two main types of cultures in West Africa are the
Ashanti and the Benin. The Ashanti resides in Ghana, and is known for their work in colorful
weavings which are known as Kente cloth. The designs on this cloth always provide a specific
meaning. They are also known fro carving wooden stools, which represent unity between ancestral
spirits and members of a family. The country of Benin however, has artists that have made objects out
of metal and Terra Cota. They are also famous for their statues, masks, and jewelry.
West Africa Has always been Stateless society before colonialism. The fact of relying on family
lineages worked well for African societies. Unfortunately, the 18th 19th century

Essay about Preschool Learning Centers
Early childhood is a time full of curiosity, exploration, creativity, excitement, and rapid development.
During these formative years, children develop attitudes about education that remain with them for the
rest of their lives (Kostelnik, Soderman, Whiren, 2011). High quality early childhood education
programs and highly effective, passionate teachers or care providers will not only promote young
children s development and academic achievement but will also foster a lifelong passion for learning.
ECE programs and educators utilize learning centers to contribute to young children s acquisition of
literacy, numeracy, creative thinking, problem solving, and motor skills as well as a number of other
skills and knowledge (Jarrett, 2010). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Children at this age also have different skills related to numeracy. Fostering numeracy skills in early
childhood education not only predicts for later Math achievement but also for greater literacy skills
(NAEYC, 2009). Since mathematical concepts are often intertwined with so many areas such as
science, literacy, dramatic play, block building, and more, math learning centers offering
interdisciplinary materials and activities ensure that young children grow to understand and appreciate
the real life applications of mathematical concepts (Fu, 2010).
Four year olds are still very much learning through the use of their senses (Blaustein, 2005). As well,
some children may have special needs concerning sensory processing and integration (Ayers, 1994).
Children with sensory processing disorders range from over responsive, under responsive, to sensory
craving (Ayers, 1994). Nonetheless, every person encounters a plethora of sensory stimuli each day
and must take in information and integrate it with prior knowledge to make meaningful responses
(Ayers, 1994). Multisensory centers provide young children with and without special needs with the
opportunity to seek out sensory stimulation, acquire sensory integration and motor skills, learn coping
skills, and understand basic scientific concepts (Blaustein, 2005).

Music And Romantic Ballads
Friedrich Nietzsche a German philosopher once said that Without music, life would be a mistake . I
agree with that statement because music is very powerful and important in our daily lives. Just
imagine being stressed at school or maybe your crush didn t love you, listening to music can help you
ease your mind and forget about your worries. We all have certain genre of music that we enjoyed
listening to, such as Hip Hop, Classical, Pop , Country , Gospel, Ballad, etc. For me I enjoyed
listening to Romantic Ballad; a poem or song narrating a story in short stanzas, whenever I feel
distress or bitter because it helps me express my true feeling for something I am passionate towards.

I can personally relate to this song because I have been in similar situation where I have been cheated
on and knew about it but did not confront that person. Romantic Ballad is unlike a party music that
you hear in clubs or dance to when it comes on the radio, because they are usually slow in tempo and
build towards a loud and heartwarming sing alone. It often has a refrain , a repeated section that
separates parts of the story being told in a song. Ballads are usually 13 lines and common forms are
ABAB or ABCB repeated in alternating 8 and 6 syllable lines. Ed Sheeran is a famous english

Immigrants In William Bradford s Of Plymouth Plantation
America is a prime example of liberty that laid the foundation for multiculturalism. Ever since the
discovery of the new world, America has always been a melting pot as immigrants from all parts of
the world come to America. They come to seek a better life while inadvertently cultivating the area
around them. For an example, in the diary, Of Plymouth Plantation, by William Bradford, a group of
puritans who journey to the Americas struggle to survive during the cold and harsh winter. Luckily,
they meet an indian called Squanto, who readily teaches them survival skills and make peace with
hostile indians. Most immigrants don t immediately make a positive impact and are shunned upon for
their poor communication and lack of social norm. However, assimilation will always eventually
happen and is tenacious to America and will perpetuate as different cultures intertwine into what we

When Squanto and other indians were captured and sent back to England, it made the tribes at
Plymouth hostile towards white foreigners (Bradford 355). The captured indians slowly adopted
English language and culture, and they eventually go back to Plymouth (351). When the chief
Samoset noticed that the pilgrims were there to cause no intended harm, he sent Squanto to negotiate
with them (362). Because Squanto was a fluent english speaker and understood where the pilgrims are
coming from, he brings back their stolen tools and invites them for a feast (366). Squanto brought
back to the English Community by paving the way to an impending colony that influenced other
founding of colonies. This shows assimilation because Squanto took in English ideals and helped the

Cat on a Hot Tin Roof by Tennessee Williams, in which the theme is ultimately about the lies, greed,

Mary Did You Know A Christmas Carol Lyrics Analysis
We all love Christmas. There is so many good parts to it: the decorations and colors, the delicious
food, and being with our loving, caring families. However, the very best part is that we get to celebrate
Christ s birth and listen or sing carols that reflect Him. Mary Did You Know, a christmas carol, shows
what Jesus did during His life.
This song has background, scripture, and definitions some may not understand. Buddy Greene and
Mark Lowry came together to write this carol. Mark Lowry is a Christian songwriter, comedian, and
singer. Buddy Greene is also a songwriter and singer. They included scripture in this song, but instead
of verses, they used only words. For example, the words in the third verse, Lord of all Creation and
the Great I Am are mentioned in the bible. One thing confusing in this song is when it uses the word
delivered as a homonym. This word means to give birth or to rescue, which both definitions are used
in the same verse; This Child that you delivered will soon deliver you... This meaningful Christmas

Jackie Robinson Turning Point Analysis
1. How do turning points impact a person s life, family, and country? A turning point can be described
as a life changing event that can have a negative or positive outcome on a person. In the
autobiography, I Never Had It Made , by Jackie Robinson, the memoir, Warriors Don t Cry , By Melba
Pattillo Beals, and the article, The Father of Chinese Aviation by Rebecca Maksel each of the
individuals faced turning points. Jackie Robinson, Melba Pattillo Beals, and Feng Ru all faced life
changing experiences that changed both their lives and their countries.
2. Jackie Robinson s life changed when he became the first black man to play in the world series and
Major League Baseball (MLB) during a time of segregation in America. These life changing events
challenged him because he had to face racially tense crowds and endured threats from teammates,
opponents, and bigoted fans. For example in paragraph three, the text states, Some of my own
teammates refused to accept me because I was black. This quote explains a negative portraying event
that comes upon Jackie Robinson. Also in paragraph three the text states, There were threats against
me and my family and even out and out attempts and physical harm to me. This explains how Jackie
felt uneasy about how the whites were trying to put Jackie down. Despite the racism he faced,
Robinson learned to have pride in his accomplishments and appreciate the courage, support, and love
shown by his supporters. For example, in paragraph eleven, the text states, I don t think I ll ever forget
that small, shrill voice of a tiny white kid, in the midst of a racially tense atmosphere during an early
game in a Dixie town, cried out, Attaboy, Jackie. This explains how because of one his supporters was
cheering him on he felt he had to succeed even if most people wouldn t accept him. Jackie s
challenges made him a popular name to remember in the Major Leagues today.
3. Melba Pattillo Beals life changed when she integrated an all white high school. The events
challenged Beals because she faced racism and because of this she built up confidence and character.
In paragraph thirteen the text states, Some of the white people looked totally horrified while others
raised their fists

introduction of improved curriculum to now include the highest level of achievement for nursing, the

E. Coli And Its Effects On The United States
E.coli outbreaks have steadily grown over the last few decades. An expansion in big farming has led to
E. coli not only being found in meat, but vegetation as well, due to waste runoff. This has increased
our need for adequate antibiotics that can fight bacteria, like E. coli. The best way to pinpoint which
antibiotics work is by measuring their ability to create antimicrobial agents or zones of inhibition.
When a paper disc that has been saturated in an antibiotic is inserted in a solution of E.coli and
medium, the zone of inhibition will be noted as the clear ring that forms around the disk. The
antibiotics efficacy is then determined by measuring each disk zone of inhibition, and comparing these
measurements to the zone measurements of an untreated specimen. If an antibiotic is to be deemed
sufficient for treating E. coli it should show a zone of inhibition that is at least double the size of the
untreated specimen.
On August 19th, 2015 this experiment was performed, by 6 separate lab groups. The experiment began
by measuring 1 Ml of E. coli into a pipette and pump, then placing the bacteria into a culture medium.
The E. coli and medium were then swirled together for a period of 15 minutes, until completely
mixed. This mixture was then poured into a petri dish and allowed to solidify for 45 minutes. After the
45 minute solidification time, 5 small paper disks were inserted into the dish. 4 of the disk contained
treatments of antibiotic and 1 was left untreated. The

The Influence Of Gangs In America
As a reader, I found thi¬¬s book very interesting and very easy to relate to. For me, life was not easy
growing up in Atlanta as a black male, as a child I consistently witnessed situations similar to what
Sudhir Venkatesh experienced such as gang beatings and the selling of illegal substances. Growing up
I moved homes and schools a few times and from this experience I learned that initially you will not
be accepted in a certain community, you have to slowly get accustomed to the norms before you are

advancements and praise. While studying communities, confidentiality is very important but in this
research Venkatesh breaks this rule because once he discovered that members of the gang had other
sources of income such as babysitting or prostitution. Venkatesh ends up telling JT and Ms. Baily
about his findings. This was a problem because after finding out about this information JT and Ms.
Baily felt like they were owed more money so they taxed people more money. I didn t like the way
Venkatesh considered himself a hustler among hustlers because while conducting research you should
be straight forward to the participates and tell them exactly what you are researching. Also, I hated
how Venkatesh handled the privacy of the residents of Robert Taylor because many people ended up
losing money that they could have used to support their family. I believe that everything in an

  • 2. Questionnaire And Questionnaire On The Questionnaire Summary of respondents For the purpose of the study, the questionnaire was prepared to collect some background information of the participants in this survey. It will help to identify the respondents and how the samples seem to be. But for the reason of anonymity, there is no comprehensive information about respondents. It is agreed to make the respondents information in anonymous throughout the study, and not used any other purpose, other than academic. To achieve that purpose the questionnaire was prepared to get some meaningful, hence collect very basic information of respondents background. • 4. Increasing Faculty Resistance And General Education... Decreasing Faculty Resistance to General Education Assessment The assessment of general education courses within the realm of higher education has been a topic of concern and some contention as external regulatory bodies, accrediting agencies, and donors have become increasingly interested in seeing quantifiable results from these courses. While universities strive to maintain effective assessment of their programs, one area that consistently falls by the wayside is the assessment of general education courses. These courses have been difficult for many universities to effectively assess due to a multitude of reasons, ranging from the large number of general education courses offered, to a lack of support and cohesion on the part of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The anticipated outcome of the study will be a decrease in faculty resistance to assessment efforts in general education courses. Friedman Stone (2002) highlight an issue on this topic: that colleges and departments are receiving pressure, both externally, from regulatory and accrediting bodies, and internally, from board members and upper administration, to expand upon general education assessment efforts (Friedman Stone, 2002). This pressure is falling on the faculty who teach these courses. The faculty, in turn, are resistant to administrative efforts to dictate what, if any, assessments are being given in their classes. Although Friedman Stone address this resistance, more research must be done on how to effectively overcome it. In another article, Banta et Al. (1993), stated that, there is tension between the two principle purposes of assessment: demonstrating accountability and improving curricula, instruction, and student services. Governing and accrediting bodies are more concerned with demonstrating accountability since the stipulations of their investment in a university are measured through quantifiable program benchmarks. However, the teaching faculty value assessment in terms of curriculum improvement and as a way to refine instructional methodology. Banta et Al s quote highlights this disconnect. According to another article published by Kramer (2006) the tension ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Analyzing Morrie Lou Gehrig s Disease Every year, roughly 5,600 people are diagnosed with ALS or Lou Gehrig s disease. ALS is an incurable and fatal nervous system disease that weakens muscles and impacts physical function that can last for a few years slowly weakening its victims until the lungs fail and they suffocate. Morrie Schwartz, a sociology professor at Brandeis University, was one of the 0.0001% of the world population diagnosed with this fatal disease in 1994. Despite the fact that his chapter in the book of life was coming to an end he was not done teaching just yet. Before he goes Morrie tries to teach people to live showing their emotions, to value their families, and to accept the fact of death. One thing Morrie Schwartz tries to teach the world is to live while ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At his end Morrie came to the realization that death is natural and one should accept this and focus on the essentials, living as if this day was the last. He iterates this in his line To know you re going to die, and to be prepared for it at any time... that way you can actually be more involved in your life while you re living (Albom 81). Morrie believes that people lived today like they might die tomorrow people will care less about material things and by extent they should be less greedy and kinder. While I can agree with his logic as I follow it, I cannot accept that this would work in reality. This train of thought isn t common for a reason. The only people I know of who think like Morrie Suggests are reckless people in stories. When I read enough of the Fourth Tuesday this idea made me stop to imagine life like this. Personally, it lead to a train of thought questioning the point of life. Try as I might I had no answer, let alone one as simple as 42. I later realized when writing this line that this is likely why we seem to avoid the topic of death as it brings up too many questions about life that people don t have answers to. These questions can be dangerous to those with a less stable mindset. This is why I cannot support this chapter in the textbook of Morrie s final ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A complex between crystal violet and iodine (CV I) is formed within the cell. The structure that determines the Gram reaction is the cell wall structure and not that shape. Bacillus cereus and Staphylococcus aureus are stained purple in the Gram staining as they have a high amount of peptidoglycan which forms the outer layer of the cell. This thick peptidoglycan layer is able to trap the purple CV I complex even after alcohol treatment. Escherichia coli is stained pink in the Gram staining and it is a Gram negative bacteria. Gram negative bacterias usually have a thin peptidoglycan layer compared to Gram positive bacterias. The peptidoglycan layer is located between the plasma membrane and an outer membrane containing lipopolysaccharide and this outer layer is dissolved during the alcohol treatment which results in a loss of the CV I complex, hence the pink safranin counterstain is trapped by the peptidoglycan layer (ASM, 2004). Gram staining allows us to observe the characteristics and cell size, shape and arrangement. For Bacillus cereus, endospores were also viewed during microscopic observation. During Gram staining, the most crucial step in determining the outcome is the decolourisation by alcohol step. If alcohol is applied too long, the alcohol may wash all the CV I complex that is trapped in peptidoglycan layer. Therefore, alcohol is only applied for 30 seconds ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Journalist, Poet And Author G. K. The journalist, poet and author G. K. Chesterton is perhaps best known for his series of detective short stories, Father Brown, adapted into a TV series in 2013. Nevertheless, he should perhaps be best known as a leading figure in the renaissance of Catholic thought in England his writings are known to have influenced many figures in 20th century Christian apologetics, including, most famously, C. S. Lewis, who discussed Chesterton s influences on his life and work in his autobiography, Surprised by Joy (Lewis, 1955). His perspectives on English identity, as well as the nature of nationality and social belonging, disseminated through various essays and articles in London newspapers (including his own publication, G. K. s Weekly), were both based on a firm belief in the importance of Christian traditions in society, in addition to vehement opposition against Puritan ideas, arguably in response to Victorian attitudes. Throughout his work, Chesterton focused on what he saw as the needs and values of the ordinary man, extolling an optimistic view of everyday life as extraordinary. The need for symbolism and idealism is, in his opinion, an expression of this view; it is the main focus of his 1904 work, The Napoleon of Notting Hill. In this novel, Chesterton explores the idea of national and regional identity. Set in a 1984 that is almost identical to Chesterton s own time (except for the random selection of the King), it explores the aftermath of the establishment of the ... • 8. The Nature Of Villain In The Destructors By Graham Greene The Destructors, by Graham Greene Samantha Webber 10/13/17 A villain is someone who commits deplorable actions against others by going out of their way to inflict harm on others. In Destructors by Graham Greene, the character Trevor T. is presented as an evil person with malicious intent, and is a villain because he is unsympathetic to others and destroyed someone s home that meant very much to them. The nature of villainy allows the reader to understand the theme of code of behavior. T. is unsympathetic toward others. In the climax of the story, he intentionally destroys Thomas s house; one of the only houses left after the London Blitz built by Christopher Wren. In the process, T. goes to almost extreme measures to make sure the house is fully decimated; he locks Thomas in his own bathroom, leaving him there with small rations until morning. T. came from an upperclass family, but then he came down in the world, implying that something happened within the family that affected their career. Based on T. s determination to destroy the house, I swear I can fix it, it can be inferred that T. wants to take out his resent about losing everything on someone else. Also, having a lack of empathy can be linked with psychopathy, a mental illness that prevents those who have from feeling sympathy, and are generally contain a charming demeanor, like T., [T.] caught his elbow and supported him. • 9. Why Is Medea Filicide Argumentative Essay Rough Draft Filicide is the deliberate act in which a parent kills his or her own children. In Euripides Medea, Medea commits filicide along with murder of a princess. Medea was married to a man named Jason who divorced her and married the princess, Glauce. Medea was so upset by this that she killed his new wife and her and Jason s children. When Medea s quest for revenge leads her to slaughter innocent beings, and some call her justified, but there are many reasons why this is not the case. Those who believe Medea was just in her murders agree that Medea was betrayed by Jason in his breaking of marriage oaths, and in order to bring justice, feels the need to bring suffering to him. Kim Zarins refers to Medea as ¨a victim of Jason s false love¨ (Zarins 2) Medea loved him so passionately and then hated him so much that she was unaware of except her desire for vengeance. Why The Fortunes Of Kings Weston House Changed Between 1700 And The Present Day Kings Weston House was built on the side of a ridge probably with idyllic pastoral views (as was the fashion in the 1700 s). Kings Weston House was probably built on this site because of those views, it was surrounded by countryside with a few grazing cattle s of sheep and most likely farmland visible, but the main view from the house was the River Severn and the rolling green hills of Wales visible on the other side. These views made it the perfect country house for a wealthy family. Today the view from the house is very different, you can see the built up council estates of Sea Mills and Lawrence Weston. It was near the village of Shirehampton where he could hire people as servants to help run the house, and as they came from the village he did not have to pay to house them. It was only five miles from the city of Bristol so he could easily get there to sort out business, or for him and his family to enjoy what the city had to offer them. It was also very close to Sea Mills, where he wanted to build up the roman harbour because Bristol docks were beginning to lose trade to Docks in Liverpool. This is because Liverpool dock was a lot easier for ships to get to, unlike Bristol where they had to travel up the bendy and very tidal River Avon. So by building a floating harbour in Sea Mills ships would not have to travel all the way up the Avon. But Sea Mills harbour soon failed because it did not have sufficient links with Bristol. Also if you wanted to be elected in Parliament you had to have a certain amount of land and as Kings Weston has 60 acres of land it was the ideal place to build the new house. He was recently voted as the second greatest Briton of all time, second only to Winston Churchill, which is testament to the physical legacy he left behind. Additionally, he was represented in the 2012 London Olympic opening ceremony which outlined the industrial revolution and the forging of modern Britain. His influence in almost all branches of engineering is vast, from shipping to the railway. This project highlights Brunel s civil engineering work by examining some of the bridges that he built. Brunel s solutions were groundbreaking and critics often questioned his designs. The Clifton Suspension Bridge had the longest span of any bridge in the world when it was completed; the Maidenhead Bridge was both the largest spanning brick arch bridge and the first to use a flattened arch form; and the Royal Albert Bridge was built using lenticular iron trusses. 2. Historical Review Brunel was the son of French parents: Marc Brunel (a civil engineer) and Sophia Kingdom. He was born in Portsmouth where his father worked as a practising engineer. Brunel was taught by his father from a young age and as a result had a solid grasp of basic engineering principals. He studied in France, attending one of the best secondary schools in Paris, before serving an apprenticeship with a clockmaker. After this he returned to England and assisted his ... Angelou makes it clear that King s life was one of great importance. She delivered the information in a relevant and important way. Her use of relevancy, audience connections, and humor allowed her to deliver the eulogy meaningfully. Audience Connection is essential when delivering a speech, Angelou mastered the technique as seen in this speech. Angelou (2008) opens the Eulogy with a popular hymnal, I open my mouth to the Lord and I won t turn back, no. I will go, I shall go. I ll see what the end is gonna be. . This allowed her to make a connection with the audience. Many people knew this hymnal; therefore, they felt as if she is one of them. Angelou (2008) went on to say Those of us who gather here, principalities, presidents, senators, those of us who run great companies, who know something about being parents, who know something about being preachers and teachers those of us.. . Those of us referred to everyone in the audience, Angelou (2008) was including everyone and in doing so she was making an audience connection. Angelou (2008) then said we owe something from this minute on; so that this gathering is not just another footnote on the pages of history. We owe something. . No one wants to believe that their actions will be forgotten. By this point in the speech Angelou had already made an audience connection and by doing so has allowed for a call to action. This call to action is a very important part of the speech because it developed relevancy in a way that was consequential. One tool that Angelou used while giving the eulogy was relevancy. Following the hymnal, Angelou (2008) begins by saying In the midst of national tumult, in the medium of international violent uproar.. • 16. The Theme of Inequality in Harper Lee s To Kill a Mockingbird Inequality is a theme that runs throughout all of history. Harper Lee uses the theme of inequality in her book, To Kill a Mockingbird. Tom Robinson must deal with inequality when he is accused of a crime he didn t commit because no one will trust a black man over a white man. The Cunningham family must face discrimination because of their lack of money. Scout even faces inequality when she tries to play with Jem and Dill. The theme of inequality is a strong one in Lee s book, and her use of inequality doesn t only define racism, but also discrimination based on wealth and gender. To Kill a Mockingbird is set in Maycomb County, Alabama in the 1930s. There is a myriad of families in this small county. Blacks, farmers, businessmen, and strong single women all call Maycomb County home. The book is told from the point of view of a little girl named Jean Louise Finch, or as many of the townspeople call her, Scout. Her father, whom they call Atticus, raises her with her brother Jem. A majority of the book deals with the trial of Tom Robinson, during which Scout begins to understand that not everybody is as fair as Atticus, raised Jem and her to be. Unquestionably, the biggest form of inequality in To Kill a Mockingbird is racism against African Americans. • 20. Persuasive Essay On Prohibition Of Drugs Laws that prohibit the possession and use of street drugs are important as their aim is to protect the user, those around them, and society in general from undue harm. There has been a great push during the last 10 years to legalize marijuana and decriminalize other drugs such as cocaine and heroin on the basis that the recreational user, and even the hard core addict, may not be causing significant harm to anyone, beyond their own personal health. In this sense, drug use is viewed as a personal choice and drug laws trample on personal freedoms without sufficient reason. Additionally, minorities are found to be arrested and convicted of drug crimes at disproportionate rates when compared to the demographics of those who use illegal drugs, which some see these type of laws as a tool of legal oppression, instead of a valid punitive function. Still, there remains sufficient reasons to maintain laws against the possession and use of controlled substances, such as marijuana, cocaine, and heroin; though there is a compelling argument for the lessening of the amount punishment of the majority of users that are caught with small amounts of street drugs. This paper seeks to put forward valid reasons for the continued prohibition of drugs, while also making a case for the softening of incarceration policies. Some argue that the use of mind or mood altering substances is a matter of personal expression. They assume the philosophical stance that what one individual finds enlightening as a means of helping them to reach their best personal self, may be a hindrance to others (Mill, 2014). They view the consumption of a substance as a personal freedom, in their pursuit to find fulfillment and contentment in life. The argument that drug use is a personal choice has some merit, but loses traction when it is compared to the reasons societies were formed, how they function, and the benefits the individual obtains from membership. A society is where individuals and groups come together to establish rules, accomplish common goals, and provide for the public welfare, while also allowing space for the pursuit of personal interests (Stone, 2002). He was obviously poised to attack, and this hints that the Hundred Flowers Campaign was merely a wily method of enticing Mao s prey. There is, on the other hand, much evidence to support that the campaign was a genuine attempt at reform. In his Contradictions speech, given to leading party workers in early 1957, Mao complained of the oppressive way some party officials were applying policies and hinted that it was time to begin permitting intellectuals to voice their opinions. Furthermore, in 1956, he had been tolerant of Hu Feng, a writer who challenged the idea that all artistic merit should be judged based on Marxist Leninist values, even as other CCP leaders viciously censured him. These two examples show that Mao, although previously disdainful of intellectuals, may have begun to see their importance, and thus may have been honestly inviting their criticism when the Hundred Flowers Campaign began. The captured indians slowly adopted English language and culture, and they eventually go back to Plymouth (351). When the chief Samoset noticed that the pilgrims were there to cause no intended harm, he sent Squanto to negotiate with them (362). Because Squanto was a fluent english speaker and understood where the pilgrims are coming from, he brings back their stolen tools and invites them for a feast (366). • 31. Mary Did You Know A Christmas Carol Lyrics Analysis We all love Christmas. There is so many good parts to it: the decorations and colors, the delicious food, and being with our loving, caring families. However, the very best part is that we get to celebrate Christ s birth and listen or sing carols that reflect Him. Mary Did You Know, a christmas carol, shows what Jesus did during His life. This song has background, scripture, and definitions some may not understand. Buddy Greene and Mark Lowry came together to write this carol. Mark Lowry is a Christian songwriter, comedian, and singer. Buddy Greene is also a songwriter and singer. They included scripture in this song, but instead of verses, they used only words. For example, the words in the third verse, Lord of all Creation and the Great I Am are mentioned in the bible. One thing confusing in this song is when it uses the word delivered as a homonym. This word means to give birth or to rescue, which both definitions are used in the same verse; This Child that you delivered will soon deliver you... Jackie Robinson, Melba Pattillo Beals, and Feng Ru all faced life changing experiences that changed both their lives and their countries. 2. Jackie Robinson s life changed when he became the first black man to play in the world series and Major League Baseball (MLB) during a time of segregation in America. These life changing events challenged him because he had to face racially tense crowds and endured threats from teammates, opponents, and bigoted fans. From the advent of the introduction of improved curriculum to now include the highest level of achievement for nursing, the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), where nurses can not only write prescriptions and treat independently, but can advance to research, enabling better evidence based practices (Andrews l. • 35. E. Coli And Its Effects On The United States E.coli outbreaks have steadily grown over the last few decades. An expansion in big farming has led to E. coli not only being found in meat, but vegetation as well, due to waste runoff. This has increased our need for adequate antibiotics that can fight bacteria, like E. coli. The best way to pinpoint which antibiotics work is by measuring their ability to create antimicrobial agents or zones of inhibition. When a paper disc that has been saturated in an antibiotic is inserted in a solution of E.coli and medium, the zone of inhibition will be noted as the clear ring that forms around the disk. The antibiotics efficacy is then determined by measuring each disk zone of inhibition, and comparing these measurements to the zone measurements of an untreated specimen. If an antibiotic is to be deemed sufficient for treating E. coli it should show a zone of inhibition that is at least double the size of the untreated specimen. On August 19th, 2015 this experiment was performed, by 6 separate lab groups. The experiment began by measuring 1 Ml of E. coli into a pipette and pump, then placing the bacteria into a culture medium. The E. coli and medium were then swirled together for a period of 15 minutes, until completely mixed. This mixture was then poured into a petri dish and allowed to solidify for 45 minutes. After the 45 minute solidification time, 5 small paper disks were inserted into the dish. 4 of the disk contained treatments of antibiotic and 1 was left untreated. The ... • 36. The Influence Of Gangs In America As a reader, I found thi¬¬s book very interesting and very easy to relate to. For me, life was not easy growing up in Atlanta as a black male, as a child I consistently witnessed situations similar to what Sudhir Venkatesh experienced such as gang beatings and the selling of illegal substances. Growing up I moved homes and schools a few times and from this experience I learned that initially you will not be accepted in a certain community, you have to slowly get accustomed to the norms before you are welcomed in. Surprisingly the streets are a very judgmental place, just for being different Venkatesh was called a Mexican and nigger when in fact he was neither. At one point in time Venkatesh himself stated that he was a hustler among hustlers, but unlike the gang he wasn t hustling narcotics or money he was hustling participants. I seemed to me that Venkatesh was using the gang members for his personal benefit since he received academic advancements and praise. While studying communities, confidentiality is very important but in this research Venkatesh breaks this rule because once he discovered that members of the gang had other sources of income such as babysitting or prostitution. Venkatesh ends up telling JT and Ms. Baily about his findings. This was a problem because after finding out about this information JT and Ms. Baily felt like they were owed more money so they taxed people more money. I didn t like the way Venkatesh considered himself a hustler among hustlers because while conducting research you should be straight forward to the participates and tell them exactly what you are researching. Also, I hated how Venkatesh handled the privacy of the residents of Robert Taylor because many people ended up losing money that they could have used to support their family.
