Bush Speech Ethos
The events that took place in America on September 11, 2001 will have a lasting wound on this
country forever. President George W. Bush s speech, A Great People Has Been Moved to Defend a
Great Nation , gave America something to have hope in. Bush was a republican president and was the
43rd of the United States and was a very passionate man. Although Bush had to make some tough
decisions that very day, he was a president that made a lasting impact on America. Throughout Bush s
speech, he effectively covered pathos, ethos, and logos. Bush was very clear in his speech that he
wanted to send his sincere thoughts to America. He was specifically speaking to the American people,
but in the bigger picture, he was speaking to America s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bush uses the appeal of ethos in an effective manner. Bush had prior experience being a governor in
Texas before his presidential experience. He is very clear and confident throughout this entire speech
that the American people will recover from this event. Bush knows how the American military
functions more than any other person out there, and he states, our military is powerful, and its
prepared (Bush, 2001, para. 3). That statement is very bold and it would give any American the sense
of protection they needed to feel during this time. Bush had the experience to lead this country in a
time like 9/11 and he and congress worked together hand in hand to work powerfully on these attacks
(Bush, 2001). Although most of the American people did not know Bush on a personal level, when he
delivered this speech, he made it his top priority to feel a personal connection with the entire country.
Having the title of the President of the United States gives Bush the credibility he needed to use ethos
effectively in the 9/11 speech. Bush successfully uses logos throughout this speech. Bush is very direct
with the statements he uses to prove his points and to stand firm for America. Bush is very clear that
the events that took place on 9/11 will not have a lasting effect on the American people. He states, we
will stand together to win the war against terrorism (Bush, 2001, para.

Diversity Promotes A Higher Potential Of Success For A...
Albert Einstein once said, We cannot solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used
when we created them. In other words, we need different ideas to come to an optimal solution.
Diversity encompasses a variety of differences between people in this world. Each individual is
classified to be different from one another whether it is from age, gender, race, personality, education,
background, experiences, and more. Varying viewpoints provides a team with a larger pool of ideas to
work with and filter out what works for them. Modern day businesses that are striving towards success
through innovation tend to lean teams building a diverse team. A variety of experiences and
backgrounds creates a channel of people who can provide innovated ideas that may have never been
thought of. In this paper, I argue that diversity promotes a higher potential of success for a company.
Age diversity plays a significant factor in productivity. From the young to the old, knowledge will
vary when it comes to age and experience. Together they will comprise of a team with different
perspectives and interpretations of ideas. These factors contribute to the knowledge pool of the
workforce which in return have a direct effect on their abilities to problem solve. In Uschi Backes
Gellner and Stephan Veen s research on the effects of age diversity, he discusses diversity s costs and
benefits depending on the tasks of companies. A variety of ages is particularly important when

The Impeachment of President Bill Clinton
The Impeachment of President Bill Clinton The impeachment of President Clinton is something that
will be remembered forever. Along with the fact that a presidential impeachment has only happened
one other time since the Civil War, the publicity that came with the Clinton trial was extensive (Miller
2004). While the Republican and Democratic members of the House of Representatives had vastly
different views on impeaching President Clinton, the fact that only five Democratic Representatives
voted to impeach him truly shows how wide that gap was between the two parties. Clinton was
impeached on the grounds of perjury to a grand jury and obstruction of justice, with the vote on both
articles extremely close, a 228 206 vote on perjury to a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Whatever the merits of that argument, such action is clearly unnecessary. There is no need or
justification for us to take this important action in such haste (Rothenberg and Sanders 2000). In
another case, Democrat Rush Holt defeated Republican Michael Pappas in the 1998 contest of New
Jersey s 12th Congressional District, but Pappas still cast his vote on the impeachment. Holt believed
that Pappas should withdraw his impeachment vote because it s a matter of historic significance and
he doesn t have to answer to anybody (Rothenberg and Sanders 2000). Against Holt s and many others
views, Pappas, along with the other thirty nine representatives in their final term, participated in the
impeachment trial while facing no electoral accountability (Rothenberg and Sanders 2000). While the
Democrats still could have received some votes from the departing Republican representatives, the
chances that enough Republican representatives would vote non guilty to create a Democratic majority
were very slim. In the 105th Congress, the House of Representatives consisted of 227 members from
the Republican Party, 207 members from the Democratic Party, and one member who was
Independent but sided with the Democrats (Congressional Pictorial Directory). With the fifty two
percent Republican majority, as long as all 227 Republicans voted for the counts of impeaching
Clinton, no Democratic votes would be needed. This proved to be the

Hong Kong Housing Problem Is Not Only Attributed to the...
Hong Kong Housing Problem is not only attributed to the High Population Density Every Hong Kong
citizen knows one of the grave troubles in Hong Kong is housing problem. The order of severity can
be apparently reflected by many figures in recent research studies. Rents up 22 per cent in Hong Kong
(2011) remarks that the price of renting two bedroom accommodation rose by 22% to US$2,830 a
month between 2009 and 2010 (¶2). Subcommittee on Building Safety and Related Issues (2010) also
observes that from 2005 to 2009, the [Buildings Department] received a total of 2,890 complaints
concerning sub division of flat units (P.3). Housing becomes a luxury commodity. Many citizens of
upper class own a few big hair houses for trading with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The property developers acquire the land with a high cost. They sell the flats with high prices so as to
keep the profit. Moreover, the property developers hoarding of residential land is another main cause.
Perry (2010) claims that six major Hong Kong developers are sitting on projects that could provide a
total of 42.6 million square of living space when completed, or about 43,000 apartments averaging
1,000 square feet (¶4). Only the living space under construction owned by the land developers is
ample to be resided by 43,000 families after development. This living space may not solve the entire
housing problem, but at least ameliorates the situation by a significant extent. Due to hoarded land, the
market is in a shortage of land supply. Therefore the prices and rents of flats rise and the property
developers earn a tremendous profit. In addition to the postponement of the residential building, in
Law of Hong Kong, there is not a perfect and unified regulation of the time range to finish building
after purchasing the land, implying that the property developers can thoroughly bridle the market.
Apart from the concerns in land supply, immigration from mainland promotes the housing demand.
Starting from 40s, immigration being not governed, there was an influx of Chinese immigrants due to
the Cultural Revolution, the Anti Japanese War and the Civil War. Policy restraining the number of
immigrants soon executed.

Pros And Cons Of Fighting In Hockey
Should the NHL prohibit the fighting from its hockey games? Although fighting is the most
controversial argument when it comes to hockey I believe that this long lived tradition should stay in
the Canadien game. Hockey is the only major sport that does not viciously punish violent offenders.
Although the tradition is gradually dying down I believe that it must withstand the opposition because
it is a major part of the game.
The main argument that individuals that oppose fighting in hockey have is that fighting in hockey
produces a more dangerous environment for the players. The war zone called the hockey arena has
given players both physical and mental damage. Fighting in hockey causes chronic traumatic which
causes depression. There have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Rites Of Passage In Turyl Markham s Brothers Are The Same
Every person begins their life with birth and resolves with death, rites of passage help people feel
apart of society, where the changes are vast, amending both themselves as well as their society they
reside to. In Beryl Markham s short story, Brothers Are The Same , Temas, a sixteen year old boy in
the Masai tribe, dreams of achieving manhood through the killing of a lion, nevertheless in doing so,
he must show wholly no signs of fear. Remarkably, throughout Temas s ordeal, he fears failure and
disappointment, however, with the help of an olden enemy, Medoto, Temas not only succeeds his right
of passage though also originates a friend from an enemy. Similarly, in the movie, Tuck Everlasting,
directed by Jay Russell, an independence seeking girl, who goes by the name of Winnie, feels as
though she needs to be free, and seek each and every form of adventure in her life. Even so, Winnie
faces a difficult choice that will last a lifetime, and in the end, she chooses the right path and prevents
anyone to resolve the same mistake as a friend once made. Although Temas and Winnie face different
challenges from the influences being pushed upon them, both opt for decisions that change them each
into a superior version of themselves.
Be that as it may, if Temas fails his rite of passage, he will be marked a failure, whereas Winnie may
never fulfill a normal life. In Temas s tribe, all men had passed [the test]; all had earned the warriors
title and none had faltered

Elizabeth Bathory Research Paper
Erzsebet Bathory, also known as Elizabeth Bathory, was one of history s most prolific female serial
killer as she would torture and kill her victims, who were mainly young girls, merely to use their
blood to take baths, believing that her skin would get as smooth as most of her victims. The Blood
Countess was convicted and confined to a room of her castle that only had slits for air and food. She
survived in there for three years, however, she then died at the age of 54 most likely due to negligence
and malnutrition (Bathory s Torturous Escapades).

Friedrich Von Hayek Essay
John Maynard Keynes first reached success during 1919 (Marron). His theory for economic success
involved government use of fiscal policy. He believed that during times of downturn, the government
should spend money into new projects, public spending, tax cuts, and transfer payment; which would
lead to money once again circulating. But during times of success booms , the government should
spend less and concentrate on saving for the next crash. He also argued that aggregate demand was the
key to the business cycle. When aggregate demand was low the business cycle would crash, leading to
high unemployment.
Friedrich von Hayek ideas became popular starting around the 1970s (Marron). His argument for
economic success contradicted those of Keynes. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If we don t try to steer them they won t go berserk. (Ransom)
http://hayekcenter.org/?p=4804
This stanza explains Hayek s beliefs on less government involvement and more freedom to the people
to make decisions. Government spending creates inflation troubles . He wants government to stop
giving money to people that aren t employed because they should be independent. This approach is
laissez faire because he wants people to do what they want by letting the market synchronize with the
people s demands without government intervening let prices work . Prices wont go berserk if their is
no Socialism. All socialism does is lead to sloppy performances if the government plans to steer the
economy. The article explains that the economy might be headed towards a downturn because the
economy growth rate has not increased. Corporations sales and profits are decreasing spending
leading to a drop in aggregate demand. Although employment is high personal savings have gone up
.2% which means consumers are spending less and more cautiously. Consumer spending has been
negative or flat showing signs of a possible recession to come. This reflects Keynes idea that
aggregate demand is correlated with the business

Coming Of Age In To Kill A Mockingbird
Coming of Age
As people get older they go through experiences in their life that can change them in bad ways or most
of the time change them in good ways. This good change occurs usually by the experiences teaching
them important lessons they should know in life. These changes are very important in ones life because
it matures them into an adult. This transformation happens to certain characters in every novel and it is
called coming of age. In the novel To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, both Jem and Scout go
through this coming of age and learn what it means to be courageous, the unfairness of the world, and
to look at other people s perspective before judging them. First Jem and Scout learn what real courage

Causes Of Migration In The World Economy Of 1870-1914
Although I explained the occurrence of wage difference between Europe and the new world, having
only one data of evidence is just not enough. As an economic student, further information is needed to
support the argument in the above paragraph. Since we already know income in the new world would
increase over the period of 1870 to 1914, I would like to investigate the cause of it, why was it
increasing when mass migration started and the population in the new world (US here at an example)
began to grow rapidly. Based on the numbers provided in Table 1 (Heitger, B. (1993, February).
Migration in the World Economy of 1870 1914 [Electronic version]. , 129(3), 1 10.), US experienced
positive immigrations from all the sending countries in Europe, which confirmed that the population
of the emigration received was indeed growing and led to the overall population growth. If the US
population was growing, what happened to the real wage? Let me form a simple economic model with
only downward sloping demand and upward sloping supply for both US and one of a European nation.
At, equilibrium their intersection determines the real wage. Since we are talking about migration, let
us assume we only have human movement between two nations. Machine and capitals are excluded
by this analysis. By looking at TableA2 (Heitger, B. (1993, February). Migration in the World
Economy of 1870 1914 [Electronic version]. , 129(3), 1 10.), we know that almost all European
countries have higher population

Manorialism During The High Middle Ages
Manorialism was an economic structure during the high middle ages that consisted of a lord and his
vassals who served him and his wife. The serfs had more rights than slaves but they were tied to the
land of their lord even when their land was captured by another lord. Unlike slaves, serfs could keep
some of their crops and maintain their own family. Cottagers ranked below serfs and were only given
cottage and a small plot of land to work on. At the top of the working class were freeholders. These
peasants owned their own land and were not subjects of a lord. Peasants would work the fields
together as a family regardless of sex or age, although mostly men worked with the heavy plows and
women wove clothes during the least demanding seasons. The lands ... Show more content on

Sometimes the wife of the lord would preside over the peasants when the lord was away waging war,
indicating some gender equality. Feudalism originated around the ninth century around the collapse of
the Carolingian empire and aided in the rise of manorialism. During these times of anarchy, people
fought alongside warlords to seek protection from invaders. Invaders like the Vikings frequently
raided villages and churches for silver and food that severely damaged the Carolingian empire, which
proved that the bonds between warlords and their followers were stronger than the bond between the
king and his subjects. Eventually, warlords became lords and their followers became their vassals
through an oath and a special ceremony where the vassal kneeled down in front of the lord. Under this
oath, a vassal swore loyalty to their lord while the lord in return offered protection for the vassal.
Vassals would sometimes fight for their lord and help conquer the land of other lords, and help their
lord become the lord of other lords. In return for their services they were granted a fief, or a plot of
land. Knights would often rent out their land to

Things Fall Apart Thin Line
Within William Yeats poem, the meaning of the phrase Things Fall Apart refers to how the thin line
between the undefinable parts of life and a distant reality exists when all begins to become blurred
together; no one sees the difference anymore. Life, as it comes about as undefinable, the events that
occur in one s existence should not all be meaningless . Events such as birth, growing, learning, loving
and hating divided by the distant reality in the manner of events yearned for in one s heart, or dreamed
of in someone s sleep or subconscious mind. Once this line becomes blurred, it gets be transformed
into something entirely different pertaining to one s belief, in any fashion, becomes the only reasoning
in response to terrible occurrences in one s world or life. Yeats portrays this theme, with himself, in his
poem The Second Coming. One major theme presented in the poem comes about when one gets an
interpretation of Yeat s true message. Although ,Yeats experiences how the thin line between the
undefinable parts of life and a distant reality exists when all begins to become blurred together; no one

Why Surgery Is The Best Option For You
I believe surgery would be the best option for you the orthopedic doctor said. A few minutes after that

was the last thing on my mind. A few months earlier a close family friend, Dana Griswold, had

her face that Dana was not doing well. I was trying not to cry because I knew that she was going to die
quickly. My mom handed me the phone, and as I started reading the text messages my heart dropped.

Hedda Gabler Research Paper
Freedom, over oneself or from others, is an important theme in Ibsen s Hedda Gabler. Even in her
greatest act of rebellion, suicide, Hedda Gabler is unable to find freedom. Her name means strife,
struggle, and refuge from battle. Combined with her last name, Gabler, Hedda s name is translated to
mean the strife of an individual. From the beginning, she is doomed to a life of isolation and
confinement . Although others are originally the cause of Hedda s imprisonment, eventually this
entrapment evolves into personal incarceration because others have shaped her entire life around
public image. Thus, her only view of the world is one in which social perception is priority. Because
of her upbringing, Hedda sees the world through lenses of social duty and image, and therefore
associates the two with confinement. In struggling to break free of her captivity, she sees her only out
as power over others people own people, and if one is owned the only way to free oneself is to own ...

Since discovering that Brack supposedly has the freedom, or power, that she cannot seem to have,
Hedda falls into a downward spiral, coming to the conclusion that she will never claw her way out of
the confinement in which she finds herself (need proof or is this already established?). Hedda finally
realizes once and for all that she will never be free as long as Brack has power over her and can tell
others that it was with Hedda s pistol that Løvborg shot himself. With this crippling knowledge,
Hedda realizes that freedom is not possible for her and Ibsen reveals to the reader that it is actually her
entire definition of freedom that is flawed. Hedda dies in the same way as she lived, in circumstances
similar to her childhood: her death is triggered by suffocation wrought by others. In much the same
way that he controlled her early life, in an act of cruel irony even General Gabler continues to be the

Mobile Ad Hoc Network Is The Routing Protocol Design
An important issue for mobile ad hoc network is the routing protocol design. Due to frequent changes
in the topology of the network this becomes a major technical challenge. Node failures and link
breakages in the network may cause loss of the network resources. In signal strength based AODV,
protocol measures signal strength between nodes and compare with RSSI threshold values. If it is
greater than threshold value then it is accepted for further processing otherwise it is discarded. If it
will not find any route between source and destination then it will switch to normal AODV which
selects route on the basis of minimum hop count. The benefit of this scheme is by selecting a strong
route to the destination we can increase the lifetime of the network. Ehsan Mostajerani [2] proposed I
AODV. On Demand Distance Vector (AODV) is one of the ad hoc routing protocols utilized in
MANET and VANET. Ad hoc routing protocols are categorized into Table driven and On demand. On
Demand routing protocols find their destinations based on the process of flooding a request to
neighbors searching for their destinations. Neighbors of nodes are detected based on the neighbor
discovery method, which periodically broadcasts HELLO messages to detect available neighbors at
time. Generating routing packets and neighbor discovery messages produce high overhead in the On
Demand routing protocol, such as AODV. In order to overcome overhead issues, a novel scheme in Ad

in charge of Germany. Something we would have never seen without the photojournalism in the
twentieth century. It is always said that art imitates life, this was no different for the artists of the
twentieth century. Most of the music made in the twentieth century was about the sorrow the artists
felt for the violence going on in the world. Picasso was one of the artist that work seemed especially

Fear In The Hunger Games, By Suzanne Collins
In the Hunger Games, author Suzanne Collins presents the idea that when people are feeling fear the
do unexpected things that can affect them in a positive or negative way. The author, Suzanne Collins,
shows this when Prim s, Katniss sister, name is called for her to become a tribute. In the text it says,
One time, when i was in a blind in a tree, waiting motionless for game to wonder by, I dozed off and
fell ten feet to the ground, landing on my back. It was as if the impact had knocked every wisp of air
from my lungs, and I lay there struggling to inhale, to exhale, to do anything. That s how I feel now,
trying to remember how to breath, unable to speak, totally stunned as the name bounces around the
inside my skull. Someone is gripping my arm, a boy from the Seam, and I think maybe I started to fall
and he caught me (Collins, 21). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Katniss volunteered as tribute, taking her sisters place in the games. She was scared that her sister
wouldn t make it through the games allowed and that she would have a better chance of surviving.
Katniss saved her sisters life and put hers in danger. Another example of when Katniss feels fear is
when she is directed to a rich building. She holds back the tears to make her look strong. In the text it
says, When I sat on the couch, I can t help running my fingers over the fabric repeatedly. It helps to
claim me as I try to prepare for the next hour. The time allotted for the tributed to say goodbye to their
loved ones. I cannot afford to get upset, to leave this room with puffy eyes and a red nose (Collins,
34). This quote shows that katniss is feeling fear by telling herself she has to be strong. She s scared
and is holding herself back from crying or getting upset so she wont show weakness. The last piece of
evidence showing that Katniss is feeling fear is when her and Peeta step onto the train to go the the

How Did Stephen Hawking Contribute To The World
If you have ever watched an episode of the Big Bang Theory, you know the character Sheldon s
favorite Physicist is Stephen Hawking. Most commonly known today as the computer talking
wheelchair bound scientist, many do not know much more about his contributions to the science
world.
Stephen Hawking was born in Oxford, England on January 8, 1942 to a father who wanted him to
pursue a career in medicine, like himself, a medical researcher. His mother, Isobel Hawking, being one
of the first women to attend Oxford University, understood his love for the sciences and physical
world. This helped to foster and shape his love of the sky, which directly influenced his career as a
scientist. At the age of 11, he started his studies at St. Albans School before moving on to University
College where he majored in Physics. After leaving University College he attended Cambridge, where
he obtained his Ph.D. in Cosmology. At the early age of 21, Stephen Hawking was diagnosed with a
debilitating disease ALS; however, as the disease slowed and stopped the use of his body, it did not
stop his love of science. He was given two years to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Physics. With twelve honorary degrees, several dozen published books, and numerous awards Stephen
Hawking made an even greater name for himself in 1974 when he proved that black holes are not just
a vacuum vortex like so many had believed prior. Hawking proved that with black holes, matter in the
form of radiation is not always effected by gravitational forces and can escape gravitational pull. This
became known as Hawking Radiation. Building on the idea and principles of Hawking Radiation,
along with Cosmologist, Roger Penrose, they showed that together you need to match General
Relativity with Quantum Theory this would demonstrate that black holes will eventually

The Consumer Federation Of America
Americans resoundingly reject non driving characteristics in determining auto insurance rates.
If you re a low income American, chances are you re paying a lot more for auto insurance than other
citizens even if you have a similar driving record and address. Those are the findings of the Consumer
Federation of America (CFA) based on a study released on Monday.
Low Income Status = Higher Insurance Premiums
The CFA evaluated minimum limits liability premiums shared by men and women in 15 cities by five
of the nation s largest auto insurers. Specifically, the CFA found that premiums surged by an average
of 59 percent, or $681 annually when characteristics of the drivers were changed to denote a lower
economic status. Auto insurance is required in all states with New Hampshire the lone exception.
Insurance is regulated at the state level.
Insurance companies should judge you on how you drive, not who you are, said J. Robert Hunter, CFA
s Director of Insurance and former Texas Insurance Commissioner. Insurance companies are
penalizing good drivers by hundreds and sometimes thousands of dollars each year based on economic
and social status, and the end result is that the poor pay more, much more.
Five Non Driving Factors Auto insurers use five factors when developing quotes for consumers. They
are: level of education, occupation, homeownership status, ownership of a car during prior six months,
and marital status.
The CFA found that drivers with the same driving

Patriotism In The United States
What is patriotism? Patriotism is the love that people feel for their country. A few examples of
patriotism are: 1. When we stand up for the pledge in the mornings. 2. When we stand up for the
National Anthem . Those are both examples of patriotism. America is a free country, so people should
be able to practice patriotism if they want to, but if they don t want to they shouldn t have to.
If someone wants to express them and their country they should be patriotic. But if they would much
rather not say anything they shouldn t have to. I do personally believe they should at least stand during
the pledge and put their hand on their heart. They don t necessarily have to say the pledge but they do
need to be the least disrespectful by

Biomimicry is a New Science to Solve Human s...
Biomimicry
What is biomimicry?
From bios, meaning life, and mimesis, meaning to imitate Biomimicry is a new science where
entrepreneurs imitate nature s time tested processes, systems and designs to solve human s
sustainability problems.
Sustainability Problem
The sustainability problem referred to in this research project is the high energy consumption of air
conditioners in industrial facilities but also in households and its global and personal health problems
(National Geographic online).
There is too much money and electricity spent on air conditioning all around the world, and
percentages are rising. Air conditioners have a negative impact on the environment as they can release
refrigerants into the atmosphere, which deplete the ozone layer.
Health hazards can also occur if air conditioners are not maintained properly, as dirty filters allow
allergens and pesticides to enter house and buildings.
Nature s solution
Termites build some of the most impressive structures in the animal world, consisting of materials
such as soil, dung and termite saliva and can be 8m high. The extremely porous walls allow
ventilation and cooling systems, due to outside air being able to permeate the entire structure.
Hypothesis: Modeling houses, offices, malls and other large buildings according to the principles of
termite mounds would serve as a sustainable solution, as it would save money and decrease the
amount of energy consumption.

Men, Women and Gender Boundaries in Sports Essay
Men, Women and Gender Boundaries in Sports
Today, we are seeing many changes in regard to gender and its place in the athletic world. More than
ever, men and women are crossing gender boundaries and entering a non traditional sport for their sex.
Of course this boundary crossing is significant culturally and socially as it challenges conventional
view of male and female characteristics and roles. When altering a customary view of gender in a
society, there are both costs and benefits to that society. This paper will discuss the costs and benefits
to a traditionally male centered culture when women and men cross gender lines in sport, and provide
examples of different sports in which gender lines are being erased.

Prejudice in any form cannot afford to exist in the international community if we all hope to live
together in peace and progress. Women play an important role in this community, including the world
of sports. Females need to be taken seriously in athletics if they are to be taken seriously at all. To say
that a female cannot play sports is to imply that she is weaker than a male, and thus her worth and
credibility are tarnished. Boxing, for example, is a traditional male sport that women were not
encouraged to participate in until fairly recently. However, women such as Laila Ali and Jacqui Frazier
demonstrate that women can not only be good boxers, but champion boxers. Also, bodybuilding is a
traditional male sport in which women have been participating. Andrea Silva Izard and Laura Binetti
are two currently well known body builders. Even another male sport into which women have made
an entrance is racecar driving. Sarah Fisher and Allison Duncan are two well known drivers.
Yet, allowing women into male sports only solves half the problem of gender equality. Men must be
allowed to participate in sports traditionally seen as female orientated. Although I tried to research
men who might be competing in female sports such as field hockey and synchronized swimming, I
was only able to find information on the United States Men s

How Lean Manufacturing Helps Our Economy Essay
Lean manufacturing plays a major role in our economy and yet it is almost unheard of outside
manufacturing. It is important to know lean manufacturing relates to our individual lives and how we
can all benefit from this concept. With current slow economic recovery, it is imperative that we find
avenues that consumers can get through these difficult times, but also to implement the lessons
learned values into future thinking. The rising cost of goods and the unemployment rate high, lean
manufacturing is helping to keep cost low and jobs in America where they belong.
When we think of process manufacturing or the assembly line many credit Henry Ford for this
concept. The introduction of continuous process in the late 1890 s was to produce ... Show more

(Return on Investment) would be used to reinvest in product development and refining manufacturing
processes.
Lean Manufacturing is actually a concept by way of the removal of all waste from any process
associated with expense with the goal of a greater return by introducing additional products or
processes that would be invested for a greater return on every dollar spent. For instance, how much
more groceries can a family purchase if they could get paid for the right purchases made throughout
the month, without sacrificing quality and usefulness.
The concept of Lean Manufacturing was not quickly adopted by the United States manufacturing
companies because of the cost incurred by changing the old manufacturing processes; the perceived
need did not outweigh the benefits. In the 1970 s and the1980 s manufacturing companies in the
United States took a closer look when Japanese and Chinese companies were selling similar products
as the United States like cars, trucks, electronics, and toy, but at lower cost to the U.S. consumers.
Companies within the United States urgently sought out experts from Japan to understand this new
method due to declining revenues and the realization they were being forced out of market share. They
learned that the concept of Lean Manufacturing was to change the goals by exposing waste in all areas
within the manufacturing process with an increased focus to satisfy

understand that Gannon University has a documented sexual harassment history and the legality of the
court decision I agree with. The facts are simple as it relates to our laws. The court understands that
there is abuse in the workplace, but focusing on ministerial exceptions with the use of the First

Given the power that religious organizations have under Title VI I, how do you think employment
discrimination concerns can be addressed in the religious workplace? I feel employment
discrimination concerns can be addressed quite simply in the religious workplace by implementing an
organizational policy addressing ministerial exceptions and first amendment rights in relation to
respecting an establishment of religion with state. Through ongoing training with staff covering
religious rights in the workplace I would give detail and clear guidance on how to notify individuals
and supervisor to make a discrimination complaint without retaliation. Case Questions 1 3, page 101

Klara Alternate Ending

should embrace her inner braveness, however deeply it was hidden. Somewhat hesitantly, she
mounted Bellona. The little dragon was just big enough that Klara could ride on top of her without
falling over; she soothingly stroked her dragon s ginger fur, tightening her legs around the dragon s
frame. There was something almost comforting about flying with Bellona; she wasn t as afraid of
falling as she was with a broom. She trusted Bellona. One couldn t really trust a broom, now could

Leaning back on her haunches, Bellona launched herself into the air, and Klara laughed aloud. She

mind, simply absorbing the feeling of being in the air. Bellona, on the other hand, instantly seemed

  • 2. Bush Speech Ethos The events that took place in America on September 11, 2001 will have a lasting wound on this country forever. President George W. Bush s speech, A Great People Has Been Moved to Defend a Great Nation , gave America something to have hope in. Bush was a republican president and was the 43rd of the United States and was a very passionate man. Although Bush had to make some tough decisions that very day, he was a president that made a lasting impact on America. Throughout Bush s speech, he effectively covered pathos, ethos, and logos. Bush was very clear in his speech that he wanted to send his sincere thoughts to America. He was specifically speaking to the American people, but in the bigger picture, he was speaking to America s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Bush uses the appeal of ethos in an effective manner. Bush had prior experience being a governor in Texas before his presidential experience. He is very clear and confident throughout this entire speech that the American people will recover from this event. Bush knows how the American military functions more than any other person out there, and he states, our military is powerful, and its prepared (Bush, 2001, para. 3). That statement is very bold and it would give any American the sense of protection they needed to feel during this time. Bush had the experience to lead this country in a time like 9/11 and he and congress worked together hand in hand to work powerfully on these attacks (Bush, 2001). Although most of the American people did not know Bush on a personal level, when he delivered this speech, he made it his top priority to feel a personal connection with the entire country. Having the title of the President of the United States gives Bush the credibility he needed to use ethos effectively in the 9/11 speech. Bush successfully uses logos throughout this speech. Bush is very direct with the statements he uses to prove his points and to stand firm for America. Bush is very clear that the events that took place on 9/11 will not have a lasting effect on the American people. He states, we will stand together to win the war against terrorism (Bush, 2001, para. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Diversity Promotes A Higher Potential Of Success For A... Albert Einstein once said, We cannot solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them. In other words, we need different ideas to come to an optimal solution. Diversity encompasses a variety of differences between people in this world. Each individual is classified to be different from one another whether it is from age, gender, race, personality, education, background, experiences, and more. Varying viewpoints provides a team with a larger pool of ideas to work with and filter out what works for them. Modern day businesses that are striving towards success through innovation tend to lean teams building a diverse team. A variety of experiences and backgrounds creates a channel of people who can provide innovated ideas that may have never been thought of. In this paper, I argue that diversity promotes a higher potential of success for a company. Age diversity plays a significant factor in productivity. From the young to the old, knowledge will vary when it comes to age and experience. Together they will comprise of a team with different perspectives and interpretations of ideas. These factors contribute to the knowledge pool of the workforce which in return have a direct effect on their abilities to problem solve. In Uschi Backes Gellner and Stephan Veen s research on the effects of age diversity, he discusses diversity s costs and benefits depending on the tasks of companies. A variety of ages is particularly important when ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Impeachment of President Bill Clinton The Impeachment of President Bill Clinton The impeachment of President Clinton is something that will be remembered forever. Along with the fact that a presidential impeachment has only happened one other time since the Civil War, the publicity that came with the Clinton trial was extensive (Miller 2004). While the Republican and Democratic members of the House of Representatives had vastly different views on impeaching President Clinton, the fact that only five Democratic Representatives voted to impeach him truly shows how wide that gap was between the two parties. Clinton was impeached on the grounds of perjury to a grand jury and obstruction of justice, with the vote on both articles extremely close, a 228 206 vote on perjury to a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Whatever the merits of that argument, such action is clearly unnecessary. There is no need or justification for us to take this important action in such haste (Rothenberg and Sanders 2000). In another case, Democrat Rush Holt defeated Republican Michael Pappas in the 1998 contest of New Jersey s 12th Congressional District, but Pappas still cast his vote on the impeachment. Holt believed that Pappas should withdraw his impeachment vote because it s a matter of historic significance and he doesn t have to answer to anybody (Rothenberg and Sanders 2000). Against Holt s and many others views, Pappas, along with the other thirty nine representatives in their final term, participated in the impeachment trial while facing no electoral accountability (Rothenberg and Sanders 2000). While the Democrats still could have received some votes from the departing Republican representatives, the chances that enough Republican representatives would vote non guilty to create a Democratic majority were very slim. In the 105th Congress, the House of Representatives consisted of 227 members from the Republican Party, 207 members from the Democratic Party, and one member who was Independent but sided with the Democrats (Congressional Pictorial Directory). With the fifty two percent Republican majority, as long as all 227 Republicans voted for the counts of impeaching Clinton, no Democratic votes would be needed. This proved to be the ... • 5. Hong Kong Housing Problem Is Not Only Attributed to the... Hong Kong Housing Problem is not only attributed to the High Population Density Every Hong Kong citizen knows one of the grave troubles in Hong Kong is housing problem. The order of severity can be apparently reflected by many figures in recent research studies. Rents up 22 per cent in Hong Kong (2011) remarks that the price of renting two bedroom accommodation rose by 22% to US$2,830 a month between 2009 and 2010 (¶2). Subcommittee on Building Safety and Related Issues (2010) also observes that from 2005 to 2009, the [Buildings Department] received a total of 2,890 complaints concerning sub division of flat units (P.3). The property developers acquire the land with a high cost. They sell the flats with high prices so as to keep the profit. Moreover, the property developers hoarding of residential land is another main cause. Perry (2010) claims that six major Hong Kong developers are sitting on projects that could provide a total of 42.6 million square of living space when completed, or about 43,000 apartments averaging 1,000 square feet (¶4). Only the living space under construction owned by the land developers is ample to be resided by 43,000 families after development. This living space may not solve the entire housing problem, but at least ameliorates the situation by a significant extent. Due to hoarded land, the market is in a shortage of land supply. Therefore the prices and rents of flats rise and the property developers earn a tremendous profit. In addition to the postponement of the residential building, in Law of Hong Kong, there is not a perfect and unified regulation of the time range to finish building after purchasing the land, implying that the property developers can thoroughly bridle the market. Apart from the concerns in land supply, immigration from mainland promotes the housing demand. Starting from 40s, immigration being not governed, there was an influx of Chinese immigrants due to the Cultural Revolution, the Anti Japanese War and the Civil War. Policy restraining the number of immigrants soon executed. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Pros And Cons Of Fighting In Hockey Should the NHL prohibit the fighting from its hockey games? Although fighting is the most controversial argument when it comes to hockey I believe that this long lived tradition should stay in the Canadien game. Hockey is the only major sport that does not viciously punish violent offenders. Although the tradition is gradually dying down I believe that it must withstand the opposition because it is a major part of the game. The main argument that individuals that oppose fighting in hockey have is that fighting in hockey produces a more dangerous environment for the players. Rites Of Passage In Turyl Markham s Brothers Are The Same Every person begins their life with birth and resolves with death, rites of passage help people feel apart of society, where the changes are vast, amending both themselves as well as their society they reside to. In Beryl Markham s short story, Brothers Are The Same , Temas, a sixteen year old boy in the Masai tribe, dreams of achieving manhood through the killing of a lion, nevertheless in doing so, he must show wholly no signs of fear. Remarkably, throughout Temas s ordeal, he fears failure and disappointment, however, with the help of an olden enemy, Medoto, Temas not only succeeds his right of passage though also originates a friend from an enemy. Similarly, in the movie, Tuck Everlasting, directed by Jay Russell, an independence seeking girl, who goes by the name of Winnie, feels as though she needs to be free, and seek each and every form of adventure in her life. Even so, Winnie faces a difficult choice that will last a lifetime, and in the end, she chooses the right path and prevents anyone to resolve the same mistake as a friend once made. Although Temas and Winnie face different challenges from the influences being pushed upon them, both opt for decisions that change them each into a superior version of themselves. Be that as it may, if Temas fails his rite of passage, he will be marked a failure, whereas Winnie may never fulfill a normal life. Elizabeth Bathory Research Paper Erzsebet Bathory, also known as Elizabeth Bathory, was one of history s most prolific female serial killer as she would torture and kill her victims, who were mainly young girls, merely to use their blood to take baths, believing that her skin would get as smooth as most of her victims. The Blood Countess was convicted and confined to a room of her castle that only had slits for air and food. She survived in there for three years, however, she then died at the age of 54 most likely due to negligence and malnutrition (Bathory s Torturous Escapades). • 9. Friedrich Von Hayek Essay John Maynard Keynes first reached success during 1919 (Marron). His theory for economic success involved government use of fiscal policy. He believed that during times of downturn, the government should spend money into new projects, public spending, tax cuts, and transfer payment; which would lead to money once again circulating. But during times of success booms , the government should spend less and concentrate on saving for the next crash. He also argued that aggregate demand was the key to the business cycle. When aggregate demand was low the business cycle would crash, leading to high unemployment. Friedrich von Hayek ideas became popular starting around the 1970s (Marron). His argument for economic success contradicted those of Keynes. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If we don t try to steer them they won t go berserk. This approach is laissez faire because he wants people to do what they want by letting the market synchronize with the people s demands without government intervening let prices work . Prices wont go berserk if their is no Socialism. All socialism does is lead to sloppy performances if the government plans to steer the economy. The article explains that the economy might be headed towards a downturn because the economy growth rate has not increased. Corporations sales and profits are decreasing spending leading to a drop in aggregate demand. This transformation happens to certain characters in every novel and it is called coming of age. In the novel To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, both Jem and Scout go through this coming of age and learn what it means to be courageous, the unfairness of the world, and to look at other people s perspective before judging them. Causes Of Migration In The World Economy Of 1870-1914 Although I explained the occurrence of wage difference between Europe and the new world, having only one data of evidence is just not enough. As an economic student, further information is needed to support the argument in the above paragraph. Since we already know income in the new world would increase over the period of 1870 to 1914, I would like to investigate the cause of it, why was it increasing when mass migration started and the population in the new world (US here at an example) began to grow rapidly. Based on the numbers provided in Table 1 (Heitger, B. (1993, February). Migration in the World Economy of 1870 1914 [Electronic version]. , 129(3), 1 10.), US experienced positive immigrations from all the sending countries in Europe, which confirmed that the population of the emigration received was indeed growing and led to the overall population growth. If the US population was growing, what happened to the real wage? Let me form a simple economic model with only downward sloping demand and upward sloping supply for both US and one of a European nation. At, equilibrium their intersection determines the real wage. Since we are talking about migration, let us assume we only have human movement between two nations. Machine and capitals are excluded by this analysis. By looking at TableA2 (Heitger, B. The serfs had more rights than slaves but they were tied to the land of their lord even when their land was captured by another lord. Unlike slaves, serfs could keep some of their crops and maintain their own family. Cottagers ranked below serfs and were only given cottage and a small plot of land to work on. At the top of the working class were freeholders. These peasants owned their own land and were not subjects of a lord. Invaders like the Vikings frequently raided villages and churches for silver and food that severely damaged the Carolingian empire, which proved that the bonds between warlords and their followers were stronger than the bond between the king and his subjects. Eventually, warlords became lords and their followers became their vassals through an oath and a special ceremony where the vassal kneeled down in front of the lord. Under this oath, a vassal swore loyalty to their lord while the lord in return offered protection for the vassal. Things Fall Apart Thin Line Within William Yeats poem, the meaning of the phrase Things Fall Apart refers to how the thin line between the undefinable parts of life and a distant reality exists when all begins to become blurred together; no one sees the difference anymore. Events such as birth, growing, learning, loving and hating divided by the distant reality in the manner of events yearned for in one s heart, or dreamed of in someone s sleep or subconscious mind. Once this line becomes blurred, it gets be transformed into something entirely different pertaining to one s belief, in any fashion, becomes the only reasoning in response to terrible occurrences in one s world or life. Even in her greatest act of rebellion, suicide, Hedda Gabler is unable to find freedom. Her name means strife, struggle, and refuge from battle. Combined with her last name, Gabler, Hedda s name is translated to mean the strife of an individual. From the beginning, she is doomed to a life of isolation and confinement . Although others are originally the cause of Hedda s imprisonment, eventually this entrapment evolves into personal incarceration because others have shaped her entire life around public image. Thus, her only view of the world is one in which social perception is priority. Because of her upbringing, Hedda sees the world through lenses of social duty and image, and therefore associates the two with confinement. In struggling to break free of her captivity, she sees her only out as power over others people own people, and if one is owned the only way to free oneself is to own ... With this crippling knowledge, Hedda realizes that freedom is not possible for her and Ibsen reveals to the reader that it is actually her entire definition of freedom that is flawed. Hedda dies in the same way as she lived, in circumstances similar to her childhood: her death is triggered by suffocation wrought by others. • 20. Mobile Ad Hoc Network Is The Routing Protocol Design An important issue for mobile ad hoc network is the routing protocol design. Due to frequent changes in the topology of the network this becomes a major technical challenge. Node failures and link breakages in the network may cause loss of the network resources. In signal strength based AODV, protocol measures signal strength between nodes and compare with RSSI threshold values. If it is greater than threshold value then it is accepted for further processing otherwise it is discarded. If it will not find any route between source and destination then it will switch to normal AODV which selects route on the basis of minimum hop count. The benefit of this scheme is by selecting a strong route to the destination we can increase the lifetime of the network. Ehsan Mostajerani [2] proposed I AODV. On Demand Distance Vector (AODV) is one of the ad hoc routing protocols utilized in MANET and VANET. Ad hoc routing protocols are categorized into Table driven and On demand. On Demand routing protocols find their destinations based on the process of flooding a request to neighbors searching for their destinations. Neighbors of nodes are detected based on the neighbor discovery method, which periodically broadcasts HELLO messages to detect available neighbors at time. Generating routing packets and neighbor discovery messages produce high overhead in the On Demand routing protocol, such as AODV. If you re a low income American, chances are you re paying a lot more for auto insurance than other citizens even if you have a similar driving record and address. Those are the findings of the Consumer Federation of America (CFA) based on a study released on Monday. Low Income Status = Higher Insurance Premiums The CFA evaluated minimum limits liability premiums shared by men and women in 15 cities by five of the nation s largest auto insurers. Specifically, the CFA found that premiums surged by an average of 59 percent, or $681 annually when characteristics of the drivers were changed to denote a lower economic status. Auto insurance is required in all states with New Hampshire the lone exception. Insurance is regulated at the state level. Insurance companies should judge you on how you drive, not who you are, said J. Robert Hunter, CFA s Director of Insurance and former Texas Insurance Commissioner.
