Descriptive Essay On Senior Prom
Senior Prom
I have been waiting for my senior prom since my freshman year of high school. My senior prom was
amazing; from pre prom festivities, prom, and all the after parties. I did not go to prom my junior year
so it was my final chance. My family and friends told me I needed to have this experience in my life. I
figured they were correct, so I decided to go. Instead of going on a date, I went with my friends. The
days leading to prom were very hectic. Prom always occurred during soccer season. I am the captain
of my soccer team so I was very concerned with the potential schedule conflict. We were scheduled to
have a playoff game on prom night and everybody was upset. As a captain, all the responsibility was
on me and I did not want to let my team down. My coach and I had a meeting to discuss the possibility
of switching the game. During the meeting, I negotiated having the game on my birthday, which was
two days before prom. Surprisingly the game was moved to my birthday. It turns out that we won and
were advancing to round three of the state playoffs. Now, I could finally focus on my pre prom
activities. It was time to get my nails, eyebrows, and hair done. Finally, prom day was here and I was
very excited. I have waited for all high school for this very moment. The first thing I did was go get
my hair done early that morning. During my hair appointment, I was pumped with adrenalin and
excitement. After my hair appointment was complete I had a little break before I went to my next
appointment. The next thing I had to do was to get my makeup done. After my makeup was complete I
was ready to get dress. Then got dressed and had a mini photo shoot at my house before my prom
festivities started. For dinner, my friends and I decided to eat at Basan then head to the prom venue.
When we arrived at prom there was a long line to go inside. Once inside the building, it was lit but
extremely hot at that same time. As soon as you walked in it was 100 degrees. My friends and I kept
going upstairs and downstairs to prevent our hair and makeup from messing up. There was a lot of
dancing and eating during prom. Everybody s shoes were off and their hair was an absolute mess.

Cruel And Unusual Punishment In The United States
The 8th amendment of the United States Constitution states that excessive bail shall not be required,
nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted. Specifically, the idea of
cruel and unusual punishment has been a topic of dispute since its inception. Although the United
States practiced execution as a punishment beforehand, the Supreme Court did not address the death
penalty issue until 1972. It is often debated how we are to define cruel and unusual because of the
vague nature of the terms. Because it is thought that the terms were kept vague in order to keep up
with new forms of cruel and unusual punishment that would come into being after the constitution was
written, the standards for determining what is cruel and unusual has been set by evolving standards of
decency that mark the progress of a maturing society meaning that it changes depending on what our
society deems decent or indecent at the time. The problem is that our society has always been split on
this issue. Whether it involves the death penalty or the quality of prisoner confinement, some hold the
opinion that these people deserve to be treated as less than human because of the crimes they have
committed. Others vehemently disagree saying that everyone, no matter what they ve done, deserves
to be treated as humanely as possible. Those of this opinion are generally opposed to the death
penalty. For future interpretation of this facet of our constitution, the cruel and

Boston Tea Party During The American Revolution
Boston tea party During the American Revolution
The Boston Tea Party refers to the political protest initiated by the Sons of Liberty on 16th December,
1773 in Boston (Savelle Labaree, 1966). The protestors, disguised often as American Indians, dumped
the entire tea shipment into the Boston Harbor sent by East India Company into the water. This protest
was in reaction and showing the noncooperation towards the Tea Act enacted on 10th May, 1773. In
reaction to this event, the British government showed a harsh response and this escalated the
American Revolution. The Boston Tea Party has become an iconic episode of the American history,
and some other political and governmental protests for instance the Tea Party movements after 2010
overtly refer to the event.
Throughout out the British America, Colonists protested against the Tea Act, and the reason for their
objection was grounded on the belief that such act violated the rights of Englishmen as they believed
on No taxation without representation, which meant that they could only be taxed by their own
nominated representatives rather than the British parliament (Carp, 2012). Protesters had effectively
prevented the taxed tea unloading in other three colonies. However in Boston, Thomas Hutchinson the
royal governor refused the return of tea shipment to the Britain.
The Boston Tea Party has significant impact on the history of American Revolution. In 1774,
Parliament responded with the Intolerable Acts or Coercive Acts,

Society s Call For Action
Society s Call for Action
Mass media are forms of communication that generate messages for very large, very heterogeneous,
and very anonymous audiences (Thompson et al. 93).
Body image is a complicated aspect of the self concept that concerns an individual s perception and
feelings about their body and physical appearance (Serdar 1).
With the increasing percentage of today s females struggling with personal body image issues, the
media has been criticized for playing a critical role in bringing body discontentment upon the female
population; several theories help explain how this discontentment happens. Media is the primary
public means used around the world to relay ideas, values, norms, attitudes and behaviors (Lopez
Guimera et al.388). Society is bombarded throughout their daily lives with different forms of media
relaying a wide variety of messages. The thin ideal set by the mass media has become the standard for
female beauty and has played a major role in how women perceive themselves. From waking up to the
radio advertizing the newest diet supplement offering a free sample for a limited time only, to seeing a
billboard on your way to work depicting a Victoria s Secret model in the latest push up bra, to the pop
ups viewed on one s internet browser with beautiful models advertising luxury vacation destinations,
to the nightly news featuring a segment of the newest fitness craze, it is clear that these forms of
media cannot be avoided and play a critical role in

Drinking Age Persuasive Speech
The world is changing every day and new situations are popping up that need to be fixed. Teenagers
are already at greater risks at being exposed to peer pressure, drinking, smoking, violence, risky
behaviors and etc.. We are the world today and we are trying to make a change but how will a changed
be inflicted if people want to lower the minimum legal drinking age(MLDA). I understand that young
people like to party, turn up, and get lit(littttt) but in reality it s not all about that so I m here to
persuade you that the minimum legal drinking age shouldn t be lowered.
All fifty states minimum drinking age is twenty one but there are exceptions based on state by state
bases and certain necessary essentials. There are a lot of proponents and opponents of lowering the
minimum legal drinking age from 21 because teenage drinking is occurring so heavily so there might
be rules to push this underage drinking or binge drinking into controlled environments or places and
private environments that are secured. If these new rules are established this can lead to drinking more
from young teens, unhealthy behaviors and life endangering behaviors by teens. The alcohol
prohibition was created under the 21st amendment on December 5,1933 to set up regulations on
alcoholic consumption but there are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore that can mean that drinking should be similarly restricted to 21 years of age still due to the
responsibilities required to self and others. Analysis still help support and prove that higher legal
drinking ages were associated with lower alcohol consumption. MLDA 21 Laws reduces the number
of underage drinkers. There are studies that help trace and indicate that when the drinking age is 21,
those who are younger than 21 drink less and continue to drink less during their early 20 s. It was also
said that youth who tend to wait to drink until they are 21 years of age tend to drink less as

Neighbours Research Paper
What is Neighbours?
Neighbours is an Australian television show which previously was broadcasted on the channel 7
network (18th of March in 1985. Although, channel 7 ended the show after Watson s Daughters, since
they had greater success than Neighbours. The show had began since TV executive named Reg
Watson suggested the thought of creating a show which centred around true like stories; stories of how
adults and teenagers solved the problems and who they could trust to turn to. Channel 10 bought
Neighbours after the cancellation of the show. This Soap Opera is based around the lives of the people
who live and work in Erinsborough, a fictional suburb of Melbourne, Victoria. The series mainly
focuses on the people that live in Ramsay Street.

These issues that they focus on are family ones, fights between different generations, school hardships
and relationships problems. Neighbours is primarily focused on teenage and adult life so that it can
connect to a widespread audience. This is evident through the high percentage of people from both age
groups; which enjoy the show and how the program is more popular in England than in Australia.
Even though Neighbours is based in Australia it does discuss about common issues that often occur
outside of Australia. Furthermore, this has helped influence people to take advice and have inspiration
from the characters to help create guidelines in order to have a good and fulfilling life. Through the
insight of Australia in Neighbours; by how people act within the show, Australia has become a more
desirable location to live in. This is exhibited through the intellectual and laid back attitude of Aussies.
How is Neighbours remembered?
Neighbours is remembered through its popularity within the entertainment industry. However,

My Papa s Waltz By Roethke
My Papa s Waltz Analysis
My Papa s Waltz, by Theodore Roethke is a classic poem enjoyed by numerous people. This poem is
frequently analyzed it due to it s meaning that continues to be relevant after seventy four years. It can
be seen as a happy poem about a father and a son, but the diction and metaphors used lead to its
serious and sad implication. After continuously reading and analyzing My Papa s Waltz, I came to
realize this is a narrative poem written in a lyrical way. Using rhythm and beat, the speaker tells a
story about a joyful memory between a father and son that has an unfortunate connotation.
In this poem, the speaker is a male looking back at a memory from his childhood that he shared with
his father. The audience is his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His father passed away when he was fourteen years old. In addition, he constantly felt lonely and
abandoned when he was in high school. In college he had a tough image and he considered himself
unhappy (Poetry Foundation). All these factors should be considered when analyzing his work. This
poem is a form of expression and reveals emotions he had through his life. You can feel Roethke s
sadness while reading the poem. My Papa s Waltz, has been analyzed by a plethora of scholars.
Through close analysis of the poem, the meaning is understood in a similar form by a great deal of
these scholars. There is a slight divide about the meaning, but the widely understood message is a
negative one. Although some readers see this poem as a happy memory and a fun waltz, there is plenty
of evidence to prove otherwise. While examining the diction and tone of the poem, one can easily
understand the true meaning of the

My Favorite Game Of Football
The team was on fourth down and five yards away from the touchdown. Down, set, hike. The
quarterback rolled right. He threw a bullet across the field to number 7, the receiver, who was wide
open and ready for the ball. Number 9 leaped from midfield and knocked the ball down. The crowd
went wild. He had just saved the team from losing. All his teammates ran onto the field and chanted
his name. It was at this moment that I knew I loved football and wanted to feel like the guy that was
number 9. Growing up, I loved playing sports. They got my mind off other things going on and was
like therapy for me. My favorite sport to play was football. My parents never put me in any sports.
They had just never felt the need to. My parents grew up in India with poor education and knowing
little English, played a huge part in my childhood. They did not read kid s books to me and I don t
remember watching all the hit shows that children my age use to watch. They were busy on putting
food on the plate and focused on securing mine and my brother s future. I was always jealous of the
other kids in my class of the nice clothes they wore and their connection with their parents. I would
stay after school sometimes to watch kids from my grade practice on the field. I always thought that I
would never be able to play as good because of my genetics. I would hate my parents for not putting
me into sports and not having the right genes. I knew I would never get to be as tall or as big as them
and I blamed it all on my parents. When I got into my teens, my cousin invited me to go to a flag
football practice that he played for. I watched him and his other friends play and I was intrigued. As
soon as I learned the rules, they put me in as the wide receiver. I was very nervous because I did not
know what to expect. The quarterback called hike and I ran the play that he gave me. He made me do
it at least ten times and I probably had only caught the ball twice. I was extremely embarrassed. But,
the people on the team encouraged me and told me I would get better with practice. That is exactly
what I did. I came out to every practice with my cousin driving me there and poured my heart out in
every single one. I switched positions and moved

Positive And Negative Effects Of Technology
Mr. Ray Kurzweil, renowned inventor and author of The Singularity is Near, wrote in 2001 that
technological progress was increasing twofold every decade, We won t experience 100 years of
progress in the 21st century it will be more like 20,000 years of progress (at today s rate) (qtd. in
Berman and Dorrier). We are only in the beginning of the 21st century and yet technology is
advancing faster than our ability to adapt! Technology has given society convenience and a higher
standard of living with the creation of the internet, smartphones, increasingly useful robots, and
artificial intelligence that learns (Rosoff). In the past couple of decades, continued integration of
technology in society has dramatically increased, resulting in significant problems with respect to
invasion of privacy and loss of basic freedoms. Technology has enabled governments and large
corporations to collect personal data. Facial recognition and surveillance technology are being used
for more than just security. Although this rise in technology has provided society with many different
freedoms and benefits, technology will eventually lead to a society with little or no freedom.
Reporting your Data In the beginning, technological progress increased personal freedoms.
Technological advances in machinery freed workers from the burden of repetitive and boring tasks
that could be done more efficiently and reliably by a machine. The creation of search engines in the

Solomon Northup, An African American Slave
Slavery was ongoing for many years, which ruined many people s lives. White people believed that
African Americans were inferior. The slaves were forced into labor, punished, and treated poorly.
Slaves involvement took away the most important thing in human life, freedom. During this time there
were many influential slaves. Solomon Northup, an African American slave who was kidnapped and
sold into slavery was one of them. He is one of the world s most important historical figures. Solomon
is known world wide for the movie and book based on his biography, 12 Years a Slave. By publishing
the unbearable aspects of his life in captivity as a slave, Northup brought to light the sadism of
American slavery. He raised awareness in audiences, and brought national attention to the injustices.
Solomon Northup was born in July 1808, in Minerva, New York. Northup grew up as an educated and
literate free African American. He lived a contented life working as a famer and a violinist for his wife
and three kids. He was the kind man who was not racist. He worked with white people and treated
them without any discrimination. In 1841, Northup was given the opportunity to work as a high paid
musician in the circus by two white men. Solomon agreed to the offer and was taken out by the two
men to celebrate. While they were celebrating in Washington DC, the two men drugged and kidnapped
Solomon. Once Solomon awoke, hours or days later, he was stripped, shackled, and whipped. He was

of control, two way communication and responsiveness on the basis of a given questionnaire. The
companies examined were British Gas, Scottish Power, Scottish Hydro Electric, EDF Energy and

2. Critique the content of the questionnaire, developing an argument for why the questionnaire is

1. INTRODUCTION
1.1 Definition of e Service Quality
E service quality (e SQ) is a study of the quality of service received over the internet. This can be
defined as the extent to which a website facilitates efficient and effective shopping, purchasing and
delivery (Zeithaml et al., 2000).
Over the next four years, it is estimated that the number of online buyers in the UK will rise by over
half of the UK s current population, from 26.9 million to 31.8 million (marketresearch.com). Clearly,
this is a very large and profitable market, with businesses securing increasing numbers of sales online
each year (British Retail Consortium). Higher website quality leads to higher profitability levels
(Vanitha et al, 1999), therefore having an efficient and effective website is crucial for obtaining sales,
and e SQ is a major factor in securing customer loyalty (Cristobal et al, 2007).
Some academic researchers have created comprehensive scales to measure e SQ. Since SERVQUAL
is the definitive measurement of service quality (Wilson et al, 2008), it stands to reason that many
scales measuring e SQ would be based

Examples Of Mortals In Greek Mythology
Throughout Greek mythology almost every myth includes situations with mortals and the gods
interacting. Often times the gods and goddesses of Olympus were forced to put mortals in their place,
or in a way, make apparent that they are immortal while man is mortal. In these tales hubris often
played a part, as some mortals displayed excessive pride often used in defiance of the gods. In most of
those situations the consequences were swift and relentless; as opposed to killing transgressors, the
gods preferred to make their criminals immortal, often setting them at impossible tasks or painful
experiences for the rest of eternity. In an article written by Michael Van Duisen, he writes, Many
mortals tried to trick or challenge the gods, and all ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Used still today as examples in philosophy and even psychology, the myth of Sisyphus represents the
mindset of mortals and reactions to impossible tasks. He acted as a highwayman and as such had privy
to godly secrets. He occasionally passed along these secrets, often about the underworld and often for
a price. He used what he had learned to capture and confine Death himself, putting him in chains.
With Death thus captured, no one in the mortal word could die and the underworld grew quiet and
empty, which Hades lamented. Hades, god of the underworld, spoke with Ares, the god of war, who
was also furious about the situation. Ares proceeded to the underworld and freed Death, also
wounding Sisyphus. Before he passed however, he planned a way to once again escape his fate.
Sisyphus ordered his wife to leave him unburied, and also, once he was in the underworld, requested
Hades permission to go back to the world of the living and reprimand his wife. Hades granted his
request, but instead of doing as he said he would, Sisyphus remained on Earth, living many more
years and taking part in great pleasures; that is until the gods grew tired of his games and enacted his
punishment. He was ripped back to the underworld, and although after he was received there is not
much mention of him, we know that his punishment for all eternity is to push a giant boulder uphill
relentlessly, until he nears the top, at which time the boulder rolls back downhill,

Problems Caused By Overpopulation Is The Rise Of A Place...
Problems Caused by Overpopulation in Cities
Overpopulation is The condition of a place populated with excessively large numbers . It is considered
a problem in many senses, since it causes a number of issues for various different reasons.
One major issue caused by overpopulation is the rise of unemployment. This is when people actively
seeking employment or just people that are able to work remain unemployed. Overpopulation causes
this because the amount of jobs available would be the same as before the city became overpopulated,
meaning that there wouldn t be enough jobs for the amount of people needing one. With more
unemployed people come many obstacles and problems, not only for the people this affects, but for
the whole economy and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This would cause many companies to have lost business. Furthermore, this could even result in more
unemployment, because the companies may be forced to make cutbacks of their own within their staff
or branches (if it was a shop).
From all this evidence, we can see that unemployment is a major issue, and affects many people. A
large amount of unemployed people are in that condition due to overpopulation, proving that
overpopulation is the cause of a significant problem.
A second problem caused by overpopulation is the degradation of the environment. With oil, water
and natural gases being overused, it starts having severe effects on the environment. There are many
negative consequences that we may have to face related to this, the cause of them being
overpopulation.
There are three main types of environmental degradation. The first type is air. Air pollution is one of
the bigger issues within this category. Not only does it damage the air, it is also a hazard to human and
animal health. Particles from the pollution can easily lodge themselves into lungs, and cause many
problems in the body.
Another type of environmental degradation of air is the depletion of the ozone layer. If the ozone layer
is damaged, lots of ultra violet rays from the sun will be able to reach the Earth s surface. Excessive
amounts of ultra violet radiation could cause numerous problems for human health including skin and
eyesight

Witness Failure In The Investigation Process
There is a great importance on the questions that are asking to a witness about what they saw occur.
Although they may be certain of what they saw there is potential for witness failure because of many
factors. These factors can be things such as vision, lighting, memory and more. The vague description
that a witness delivers can lead to errors which can lead to lots of problems in the investigation
process. When the individuals were asked how old the suspect was in the video that they were shown,
their answers were anywhere from 18 30 years of age. There were some individuals who were quite
precise with their descriptions of the suspect and the scenario that they saw. On the other hand, there
were many who were vague and incorrect when answering questions. One way that interviews can go

Should Performance Enhancing Drugs Be Allowed In Sports Essay
When starting my research on the use of performance enhancing drugs in sports I thought that I knew

The Goodyear And The Tire Industry
The Goodyear name has been one of the most recognized brands in the tire industry around the world.
They are known for having a superior quality product through the price and positions they have
chosen. Their slogan, The best tires in the world have Goodyear written all over them, (Kerin, 2005)
provides their customers with a high class message and creates an importance for them to preserve the
accessibility of their high value brands. Unfortunately, consumers have become more price conscious
about their tire purchases and less focused on loyalty to a specific brand. They experienced a 3.2%
decline in the market share for the tires associated with passenger car replacement (Kerin, 2005).
Because of this change, Goodyear has seen a drop in their sales. With already 2 million Goodyear
brand tires, which have been worn out, being replaced at 850 Sears Auto Center locations annually,
Goodyear reopened previous discussions with Sears to possibly sell their Eagle brand tires or all
Goodyear tire brands through them. Choosing to do so could create great benefits for the company but
could also generate turmoil within their franchises and other retail chains where their brands are sold.
Before making the final decision, they must determine how this move will affect their franchisees, are
they willing to significantly change their distribution policy, what brands Goodyear will allow to be
retailed through the Sears network, and how cannibalization of their brands sold via other

The French Military Leader Of The Revolutionary War
Marie Joseph Paul Yves Roch Guilbert du Motier, Maquis de Lafayette (1757 1834) was a French
military leader who played a large role in America s victory in the Revolutionary War. He was a tall
fiery man with high status and a large adoration for American liberty (Boy s Life). He devoted
everything in his life at the time to join the rebels as well as risked being imprisoned for disobedience.
His connections through his wealth and his own personal excitement for the rebel leaders beliefs gave
America a large boost that lead to their victory (UXL).
Lafayette was born on the 6th of September 1757 in Chavanic, France. He never got to see his father
who died at the Battle of Minden in the Seven Year s War when Lafayette was only a year old. His
mother was not usually around before her death when Lafayette was thirteen but he had his
grandmother and aunts. He had a Jesuit priest as a tutor and later attended College du Plesssis for three
years. With a family tradition of military service, he decided to go to a military academy in Vesailles.
Lafayette became one of the king s Musketeers in 1777. By the age of sixteen he was married to Marie
Adienne Francoise de Noailles (UXL).
In August of 1775, Lafayette attended a dinner party hosted by the Duke of Gloucester. The Duke
spoke very greatly of the rebel leaders in America. This made Lafayette very amazed at what was
going on in the thirteen colonies and decided to go to America to join the rebels. He was not however

Attachment Theory is defined as the emotional and psychological bond between a child and their
caregiver, which starts from birth and is believed to last a lifetime. (Arxcis, 2017). The first published
works of attachment theory were done by John Bowlby, a child psychiatrist, in 1969, with Mary
Ainsworth, a Canadian psychologist, later collaborating with Bowlby to include different attachment
types. Bowlby s theory, which was influenced from Konrad Lorenz s idea of familial imprinting,
stated that attachment bonds would begin to form up until nine months of age in an infant. From nine
months, up until two to three years of age, attachment types would be observable (Arxcis, 2017). In

Whether they are sick, tired, hungry, or upset, caregivers of children with secure attachment most
times consistently engage the child when cued, and provide predictable, supportive emotional and
physical reactions that the child has learned to rely on. Conversely, in avoidant attachment caregivers
have demonstrated that they cannot be relied on to provide emotional support in response to the child s
needs. The caregivers have either reacted to the child s distress in a cold manner or ignored them
completely. Children who are insecurely ambivalent attached often have caregivers that are
inconsistent in their response to the child s distress. The child exhibits escalating behavior such as
cries turning into shrieks and screaming. They appear to want contact with the caregiver through cues,
but will resist contact when attempted by the caregiver. Disorganized attachment is a result of a
caregiver who is inappropriate in their response to their child, responding sexually, physically or
verbally abusive. The children may present with odd behavior and act out. (Arxcis, 2017). 10 year old

Journey Through Slavery Summary
There have been many works in media and through novels describing slavery in Early America. Some
focused on gloomy tales of the Middle Passage others about life on the plantation, day by day. Roots

then his life on the plantation. When his life ended his story persevered through generations that

Online File Sharing and Internet Piracy
The United States of America is a free country, then why shouldn t the internet be free? Why should
we have restrictions placed on what we can and cannot do on the internet? Every day, millions of users
share files on the internet through numerous online sources. Whether they download music, movies, or
software, online file sharing can give people access to a plentiful amount of information. These files
are often free and easily accessible by anyone. The practice of distributing or providing access to
digitally stored information represents file sharing (Peer to Peer File Sharing and Copyright
Infringement: Are You Vulnerable?). Conversely many people see file sharing as unlawful. The
reproduction or distribution of any copyrighted ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At no cost or free access to any information brings many benefits to users through online piracy. When
anyone downloads a program from an online source they use it as a preview or free trial when none
are available. People do this in order to see what they want is worth the purchase or not. For example:
Someone has no clue what word processing program to buy and he or she does not want to just waste
the money on a word processing program he or she cannot use. This is where internet piracy can come
in to play and benefit him or her greatly. He or she can just download the word processing programs
they have been looking at from an online source to use as a free trial, find the best one, and later buy
it.
Have you ever let a friend borrow a CD, a book, or a movie? The borrowing of copyright materials
like music, books, or movies is an act of colloquially known as piracy. Internet piracy is the borrowing
of files including music through online sites where one person uploads it and many others help
distribute the file. Music files were some of the first types of files to be pirated. Music files are a big
portion of all of the files pirated over the internet. File sharing of music leads to a lot of benefits for
the music industry, record companies, and the artists involved in music. Free exposure through online
sharing of music will benefit the artist, the public, and the music industry (Torr).

The Effects Of The War On World War II
Desperate times call for desperate measures, and for the Allied Powers in 1939 it was a desperate time.
The Second World War was not going in there favor. The German war machine has ripped through
Poland and moves on to the rest of Europe. Part of the reason why Germany can start a war to control
the world is that one of the world s biggest superpowers and neighbor, the Soviet Union, was
completely silent in the war. In 1941 things are looking up for Nazi Germany, so Germany planed one
of the biggest military operations of the war. A plan to invade the communist state of the Soviet
Union. The invasion had a massive effect on World War II, it gave a reason for the Soviet Union to

Spiegelman s father was treated inhumanely because of his religion while Washington was treated
unfairly due to the color of his skin. Both men wrote about what happened and how they chose to rise
above their persecution and the injustice of how they are being treated instead of being walked all
over. Vladek says in the book, The fat from the burning bodies they scooped and poured again so
everyone could burn better. (Spiegelman, Book 2, pg. 62) This scene shows the Nazi brutality towards
the treatment of the Jewish race. The Nazis torture the Jews, treating them like animals. They strip
them of any semblance of their humanity, even in death. They burned the bodies disrespectfully, and
then took what was left to burn the others. Each account of these authors harsh lives is about
something that they cannot control being hated for: color of skin and religious choice. Both authors

John Wycliffe And The Lollards Function
The writings of John Wycliffe and the Lollards function as sort of a prequel to the protestant
reformation that would sweep through England and Europe in the sixteenth century. It is clear that the
Lollards were not all perfect representations of Wycliffe s beliefs. Furthermore, just like the many
divisions of Protestantism, Lollardism was made up of many groups of differing opinion. It was not a
monolith. However, there are numerous discernible similarities in belief between Wycliffe, and his
varied followers, and the eventual English Reformation. The writings of John Wycliffe were a
significant precursor in the political and religious developments of the English Reformation. One of
the primary concerns of Wycliffe was the temporal power of the clergy. His first works, including the
De Civili Dominio, focused on the unwelcomed intrusion of the pope and his clergy into secular
affairs. This was not a view unique to the fourteenth century. Kings had often vied against the Pope for
power throughout the Middle Ages. The extent of the Pope s influence and power in foreign realms
was certainly not a settled issue in England or the rest of Catholic Europe. The De civili dominio
suggests that it is the responsibility of the state, and its secular rulers, to judge the morality of the
church. Wycliffe begins the De civili dominio by establishing precedent for his ideas by referring to
the ancient magi, or three wise men that visited Jesus upon his birth. Wycliffe states a long held

Comparison Of Authority Figures In Romeo And Juliet And...
Comparison of Authority Figures in Romeo and Juliet and Shakespeare in Love Stoppard s satirical
movie, Shakespeare in Love, is a play on Shakespeare s tragic love story, Romeo and Juliet. Stoppard
places Shakespeare himself into a relationship with Viola De Lesseps, that resembles the relationship
between Romeo and Juliet. Stoppard incorporates countless parallels into the film from Shakespeare s
love story, including the character development of major authority figures. The prince and the queen,
Capulet and Viola s father, and the Friar and the Priest are all figures of authority and parallel between
the two works; Stoppard gave his cast similarities to Shakespeare s characters, but they also varied in
some aspects. Stoppard s decision to both keep some and change some character attributes of these
authority figures helps contribute and develop the ending of the movie, just as Shakespeare s character
developments contributed to the outcome of his plays. In Romeo and Juliet, the supreme authority is
the Prince; he is the governing individual in Verona, Italy where the setting takes place, just as Queen
Elizabeth is shown as the highest authority in England in Shakespeare in Love. One key difference
between these leaders in the stories is that the Prince is mostly concerned with keeping the peace,
while the Queen also appreciates and respects Viola s risk and is excited by Viola and her relationship
with Shakespeare. The Queen is exhilarated by the whole ordeal. She

The chairperson should bring the meeting back to order. The chairperson can even opt to writing the
ideas on a board and they can be brought out for discussion later on if time persists.
Why is a chairperson necessary?
The chairperson ensure the meeting time is well spent and not wasted. They bring the conversation
back to the agenda if participants begin to digress from the topics of discussion.
Who should chair meetings? Why?
The role of chair should rotate with each meeting. This allows those to gain experience
communicating with colleagues and staff.

Stem Cell Regulation
Skin with its hair follicle is an excellent system to study molecular mechanism of stem cell regulation.
Due to constant need of tissue regeneration, it has abundant number of stem cells. Hair follicle consist
of a permanent portion sebaceous gland and below it is a bulge area, which houses Hair follicle
epidermal stem cells(HFSCs). Bulge also provides niche for melanocyte stem cells interspersed
between HFSCs. Behavior of the two stem cells is well coordinated. Differentiating melanocytes
transfer pigment to terminally differentiated hair follicles (Nishimura et al., 2002; Tanimura et al.,
2011; Rabbani et al., 2011).Hair follicle undergoes cyclical bouts of 3 phases anagen (phase of active
growth), catagen (destruction phase) and telogen (rest phase) (Hardy, 1992). HFSCs give rise to
daughter stem cells which are retained in the bulge area and others form, either epidermal progenitors
which migrate upwards during tissue repair or it forms hair matrix progenitors which migrate below to
form hair shaft (Niemann Watt 2002; Oshima et al., 2001; Taylor et al. 2000).
In early 1990s, HFSCs were located in the bulge region by label retention studies (Cotsarelis et al.,
1990; Morris and Potten, 1994). Later in 2001, presence of HFSCs in bulge area was confirmed by
transplantation experiments. When lac z labeled bulge region from adult mice was transplanted into
hairless mice, lac z labeled cells formed morphologically distinct hair follicle (Oshima et., 2001).

heroic trait however, is his courage. All three of the monsters he faced had done nothing but destroy

heroic qualities affect the epic in more ways than one. If ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

became important to him, an he lost quite a bit of his pompous attitude and developed one of love. He
cared about those he was protecting and it began to show. This change in thought was greater than
strength, courage, loyalty, or bravery. When he died fighting the dragon, it showed that he wasn t just
waltzing into battle because of some kind of ignorant courage, but because of his love for the people
he served. His people further reinforced this thought by mourning his death in such a solemn manner.
The were truly saddened by the loss of their great hero. In the end, he served his people out of love,

Correction Officers and problems they Deal With The problems that correctional officers deal with are
low paid, and not enough people to do the job. They also have to deal with prisoner who have mental
health problems and are not in their right mind. They also have to be on the lookout for ones who want
to cause harm to others or the guards. They make shank and blowdarts that they can kill or harm
another with. The inmates get new law that is in their favor every day while we lose more and more of
our right so we are at a disadvantage. The guards need a way to be trained about the new laws. The
guards are at a disadvantage and need help to be able to try to stay up with the inmates Correction s

indicate correctional officer stress is widespread due to the threat of inmate violence against
correctional officers, actual violence committed by inmates, inmate demands and manipulation, and
problems with co workers.} He said that some of the factors are understaffing, overtime, shift work,
low pay and the poor public image that officer have. I found an article by {Cece Hill} {where they did
a survey of 44 U.S. correction systems. 44 percent of which reported problems with officer

Examples Of Social Darwinism In The Jungle
In Sinclair s novel, the jungle, you get a closer look into the societal classes and the struggles that
immigrants face when they come to America. In this essay, I will be talking about all the things that
Jurgis as well as his family have overcome. Such as their downfalls as well as how they prospered and
managed to stay together through most of the novel. Social Darwinism helps you get a different
perspective of all the things going on in the societal classes.
When someone has no motivation they really have no want to succeed. Being an immigrant and
coming to the United States doesn t mean you re going to get rich at the instant. Even by working, you
won t get at the level of the upper class rich people. Dishonesty is shown a lot among immigrants.
Jurgis for example at the beginning of the novel had his family, his wife Ona, which made him the
happiest man alive. No matter how rough the situation was he wouldn t care because he had his wife.
Life put Jurgis through some pretty tough obstacles like the death of Ona and then shortly after the
death of his baby. The so called real estate agent offered them a deal on this supposed great house that
was cheap and exactly what they were looking for but little did Jurgis know that with that house came
many more little pricy things that the agent forgot to tell them. Since that point on every day living in
that house was hell. Everyone in that household worked and they barely made it through the month.
Barely made it through with

Bexar County Emergency Management
In today s world, emergencies of all types occur frequently. They include floods, hurricanes,
earthquakes, landslides, tsunamis, infectious diseases, wildfires, anthrax threats, riots and civil
disturbance, and terrorism, to name a few. There must be plans already in place to deal with the
potential hazards and detriments of these emergencies. Preparedness in the field of emergency
management is defined as a state of readiness to respond to a disaster, crisis, or any other type of
emergency situation (FEMA, 2016). There are five phases of emergency management: prevention,
preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation (Bexar County Emergency Management, n.d.).
Prevention is the first phase of emergency management. While not all disasters can be prevented,
preventive measures are designed to provide more permanent protection from disasters. Well
organization evacuation plans, environmental planning, and design standards can all help lessen the
loss of life and injuries (Bexar County, n.d.). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is vital for officials from all levels of emergency management to collaborate and communicate
effectively as they strive to deliver timely response services and effective disaster relief efforts.
Otherwise, delays can occur from any number of agencies when responding to disasters. In addition, it
is vital to maintain updated contact information for each organization that will be part of the
emergency management planning and hold regular meetings with the representatives of each

Loan Options For Real Estate Investing
Loan Options for Real Estate Investing
While investing in things like securities can cost as little as $20.00, investing in real estate involves far
more significant amounts of money. Most real estate investors don t have enough cash on hand to
cover the full cost of the property they are investing in. Instead, most are purchased using some form
of leverage. There are a number of loan options available to those who intend to purchase real estate
as an investment.
Residential Real Estate Financing
While there are many options when it comes to financing residential real estate investments. The most
popular of these are banks, private lenders, and a number of different government grants.
Traditional Bank Financing
This form of financing is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Government Grants
The Federal Government offers a number of grants aimed at helping real estate investors to fund
distressed property investments. Of course, these grants do come with a set of rules in place. The
investor must not only meet specific financial criteria but must also agree to improve the property
before he attempts to sell it. If you don t have enough cash reserves in place to meet this requirement,
this might not be the best option.
Non traditional Private Lender Financing
Just because your credit score and lack of assets stops you from securing favorable terms with a
traditional lender, doesn t mean you should give up on your investment. There are a number of non
traditional loan sources worth considering, including seller financing, peer to peer lending networks,
loan assumption, interest only loans, self directed IRA purchases, even friends, and family. Interests
rates for many of these forms of financing may be higher due to the appearance of you being a higher
risk borrower.
Commercial Real Estate Financing Options
Unlike residential real estate financing with its various government grants, commercial real estate
investors have only two financing options. The choices they have are through a bank or private
lenders.
Financing Through the Bank
The bank is likely to look at the investor s current income statements along with recent tax returns,
along with other information such as professional and personal balance sheets for the past three to

Type A Personality
Today in class we discussed Type A Personality. People with Type A personality generally are
obsessed with being on time, competitive, impatient, and may be easily angered and hostile. These
traits may become dangerous as they can lead to heart problems because of the anger these people
possess. I believe that my personality corresponds to Type A. Although I normally am late for most
things, I get very paranoid when I am running late for something I am passionate about. For example,
I am never late for the movies. I always check the timings a few hours earlier and try to be at the
movie theater around 45 minutes earlier. Another piece of evidence that points to me being Type A is
that I am excessively competitive and cutthroat. I must do anything and everything to be the best. I
believe that there is no point in doing anything unless you want to be number one. My philosophy
(which I borrowed from Grey s Anatomy 2x22) is that being that second best is mediocre, and to settle
for mediocrity is a sign of self disrespect and a substandard work ethic. I refuse to be second best. ...

I cannot stand in line or wait for a website to load without getting impatient and irritated. My
impatience is what leads me to be agitated. I am easily frustrated, if there is no easy way to solve a
problem I try to find a more efficient way to solve the problem. I feel that my anger and impatience is
probably caused by my chronic laziness. I am guessing that I am like this because I live in an era
where everything seems to be close to (or is) automatic. My food is ready made, my computer turns
on right when I open it, my phone connects to the wifi automatically. My patience has deteriorated to
the point where I cannot wait any longer than 6

Amantea during the Spring 2016 Semester.
Managerial Blunders
Introduction A managerial blunder is a blunder or mistake that a company, institution, or firm makes
effecting the image and reputation behind the company s name. The negative externalities from the
blunder can cause a monetary loss along with the destruction of the company s image and reputation
in the working world. Managerial blunders are not uncommon in the working because of the pressure
and scrutiny that large companies are put under by the media. In business there is no room for
mistakes and perfection is expected. One of the biggest managerial blunders to ever happen is the BP
oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
British Petroleum Background BP is a company that delivers energy products around the world
through the exploration and refinements of natural resources. The company is also known as one of
the world s largest oil and gas companies that competes with other major household names such as
ExxonMobil and Chevron. Because many of these large ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

  • 3. Descriptive Essay On Senior Prom Senior Prom I have been waiting for my senior prom since my freshman year of high school. My senior prom was amazing; from pre prom festivities, prom, and all the after parties. I did not go to prom my junior year so it was my final chance. My family and friends told me I needed to have this experience in my life. I figured they were correct, so I decided to go. Instead of going on a date, I went with my friends. The days leading to prom were very hectic. Prom always occurred during soccer season. I am the captain of my soccer team so I was very concerned with the potential schedule conflict. We were scheduled to have a playoff game on prom night and everybody was upset. As a captain, all the responsibility was on me and I did not want to let my team down. My coach and I had a meeting to discuss the possibility of switching the game. During the meeting, I negotiated having the game on my birthday, which was two days before prom. Surprisingly the game was moved to my birthday. It turns out that we won and were advancing to round three of the state playoffs. Now, I could finally focus on my pre prom activities. It was time to get my nails, eyebrows, and hair done. Finally, prom day was here and I was very excited. I have waited for all high school for this very moment. The first thing I did was go get my hair done early that morning. During my hair appointment, I was pumped with adrenalin and excitement. After my hair appointment was complete I had a little break before I went to my next appointment. The next thing I had to do was to get my makeup done. After my makeup was complete I was ready to get dress. Then got dressed and had a mini photo shoot at my house before my prom festivities started. For dinner, my friends and I decided to eat at Basan then head to the prom venue. When we arrived at prom there was a long line to go inside. Once inside the building, it was lit but extremely hot at that same time. As soon as you walked in it was 100 degrees. My friends and I kept going upstairs and downstairs to prevent our hair and makeup from messing up. There was a lot of dancing and eating during prom. Everybody s shoes were off and their hair was an absolute mess. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Cruel And Unusual Punishment In The United States The 8th amendment of the United States Constitution states that excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted. Specifically, the idea of cruel and unusual punishment has been a topic of dispute since its inception. Although the United States practiced execution as a punishment beforehand, the Supreme Court did not address the death penalty issue until 1972. It is often debated how we are to define cruel and unusual because of the vague nature of the terms. Because it is thought that the terms were kept vague in order to keep up with new forms of cruel and unusual punishment that would come into being after the constitution was written, the standards for determining what is cruel and unusual has been set by evolving standards of decency that mark the progress of a maturing society meaning that it changes depending on what our society deems decent or indecent at the time. The problem is that our society has always been split on this issue. Whether it involves the death penalty or the quality of prisoner confinement, some hold the opinion that these people deserve to be treated as less than human because of the crimes they have committed. Others vehemently disagree saying that everyone, no matter what they ve done, deserves to be treated as humanely as possible. Those of this opinion are generally opposed to the death penalty. For future interpretation of this facet of our constitution, the cruel and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Boston Tea Party During The American Revolution Boston tea party During the American Revolution The Boston Tea Party refers to the political protest initiated by the Sons of Liberty on 16th December, 1773 in Boston (Savelle Labaree, 1966). The protestors, disguised often as American Indians, dumped the entire tea shipment into the Boston Harbor sent by East India Company into the water. This protest was in reaction and showing the noncooperation towards the Tea Act enacted on 10th May, 1773. In reaction to this event, the British government showed a harsh response and this escalated the American Revolution. The Boston Tea Party has become an iconic episode of the American history, and some other political and governmental protests for instance the Tea Party movements after 2010 overtly refer to the event. Throughout out the British America, Colonists protested against the Tea Act, and the reason for their objection was grounded on the belief that such act violated the rights of Englishmen as they believed on No taxation without representation, which meant that they could only be taxed by their own nominated representatives rather than the British parliament (Carp, 2012). Protesters had effectively prevented the taxed tea unloading in other three colonies. However in Boston, Thomas Hutchinson the royal governor refused the return of tea shipment to the Britain. The Boston Tea Party has significant impact on the history of American Revolution. In 1774, Parliament responded with the Intolerable Acts or Coercive Acts, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Society s Call For Action Society s Call for Action Mass media are forms of communication that generate messages for very large, very heterogeneous, and very anonymous audiences (Thompson et al. 93). Body image is a complicated aspect of the self concept that concerns an individual s perception and feelings about their body and physical appearance (Serdar 1). With the increasing percentage of today s females struggling with personal body image issues, the media has been criticized for playing a critical role in bringing body discontentment upon the female population; several theories help explain how this discontentment happens. Media is the primary public means used around the world to relay ideas, values, norms, attitudes and behaviors (Lopez Guimera et al.388). Society is bombarded throughout their daily lives with different forms of media relaying a wide variety of messages. The thin ideal set by the mass media has become the standard for female beauty and has played a major role in how women perceive themselves. From waking up to the radio advertizing the newest diet supplement offering a free sample for a limited time only, to seeing a billboard on your way to work depicting a Victoria s Secret model in the latest push up bra, to the pop ups viewed on one s internet browser with beautiful models advertising luxury vacation destinations, to the nightly news featuring a segment of the newest fitness craze, it is clear that these forms of media cannot be avoided and play a critical role in ... Teenagers are already at greater risks at being exposed to peer pressure, drinking, smoking, violence, risky behaviors and etc.. We are the world today and we are trying to make a change but how will a changed be inflicted if people want to lower the minimum legal drinking age(MLDA). I understand that young people like to party, turn up, and get lit(littttt) but in reality it s not all about that so I m here to persuade you that the minimum legal drinking age shouldn t be lowered. All fifty states minimum drinking age is twenty one but there are exceptions based on state by state bases and certain necessary essentials. There are a lot of proponents and opponents of lowering the minimum legal drinking age from 21 because teenage drinking is occurring so heavily so there might be rules to push this underage drinking or binge drinking into controlled environments or places and private environments that are secured. If these new rules are established this can lead to drinking more from young teens, unhealthy behaviors and life endangering behaviors by teens. There are studies that help trace and indicate that when the drinking age is 21, those who are younger than 21 drink less and continue to drink less during their early 20 s. It was also said that youth who tend to wait to drink until they are 21 years of age tend to drink less as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This poem is frequently analyzed it due to it s meaning that continues to be relevant after seventy four years. It can be seen as a happy poem about a father and a son, but the diction and metaphors used lead to its serious and sad implication. After continuously reading and analyzing My Papa s Waltz, I came to realize this is a narrative poem written in a lyrical way. • 10. My Favorite Game Of Football The team was on fourth down and five yards away from the touchdown. Down, set, hike. The quarterback rolled right. He threw a bullet across the field to number 7, the receiver, who was wide open and ready for the ball. Number 9 leaped from midfield and knocked the ball down. The crowd went wild. He had just saved the team from losing. All his teammates ran onto the field and chanted his name. It was at this moment that I knew I loved football and wanted to feel like the guy that was number 9. Growing up, I loved playing sports. They got my mind off other things going on and was like therapy for me. My favorite sport to play was football. My parents never put me in any sports. They had just never felt the need to. My parents grew up in India with poor education and knowing little English, played a huge part in my childhood. They did not read kid s books to me and I don t remember watching all the hit shows that children my age use to watch. They were busy on putting food on the plate and focused on securing mine and my brother s future. I was always jealous of the other kids in my class of the nice clothes they wore and their connection with their parents. I would stay after school sometimes to watch kids from my grade practice on the field. I always thought that I would never be able to play as good because of my genetics. I would hate my parents for not putting me into sports and not having the right genes. I knew I would never get to be as tall or as big as them and I blamed it all on my parents. When I got into my teens, my cousin invited me to go to a flag football practice that he played for. I watched him and his other friends play and I was intrigued. As soon as I learned the rules, they put me in as the wide receiver. I was very nervous because I did not know what to expect. The quarterback called hike and I ran the play that he gave me. He made me do it at least ten times and I probably had only caught the ball twice. I was extremely embarrassed. But, the people on the team encouraged me and told me I would get better with practice. That is exactly what I did. I came out to every practice with my cousin driving me there and poured my heart out in every single one. I switched positions and moved ... We are only in the beginning of the 21st century and yet technology is advancing faster than our ability to adapt! Technology has given society convenience and a higher standard of living with the creation of the internet, smartphones, increasingly useful robots, and artificial intelligence that learns (Rosoff). In the past couple of decades, continued integration of technology in society has dramatically increased, resulting in significant problems with respect to invasion of privacy and loss of basic freedoms. Technology has enabled governments and large corporations to collect personal data. Facial recognition and surveillance technology are being used for more than just security. Although this rise in technology has provided society with many different freedoms and benefits, technology will eventually lead to a society with little or no freedom. Solomon Northup, an African American slave who was kidnapped and sold into slavery was one of them. He is one of the world s most important historical figures. Solomon is known world wide for the movie and book based on his biography, 12 Years a Slave. By publishing the unbearable aspects of his life in captivity as a slave, Northup brought to light the sadism of American slavery. He raised awareness in audiences, and brought national attention to the injustices. Solomon Northup was born in July 1808, in Minerva, New York. Northup grew up as an educated and literate free African American. He lived a contented life working as a famer and a violinist for his wife and three kids. He was the kind man who was not racist. He worked with white people and treated them without any discrimination. In 1841, Northup was given the opportunity to work as a high paid musician in the circus by two white men. Appendices..................................................................................................................12 1. INTRODUCTION 1.1 Definition of e Service Quality E service quality (e SQ) is a study of the quality of service received over the internet. This can be defined as the extent to which a website facilitates efficient and effective shopping, purchasing and delivery (Zeithaml et al., 2000). Over the next four years, it is estimated that the number of online buyers in the UK will rise by over half of the UK s current population, from 26.9 million to 31.8 million (marketresearch.com). Clearly, this is a very large and profitable market, with businesses securing increasing numbers of sales online each year (British Retail Consortium). Higher website quality leads to higher profitability levels (Vanitha et al, 1999), therefore having an efficient and effective website is crucial for obtaining sales, and e SQ is a major factor in securing customer loyalty (Cristobal et al, 2007). Some academic researchers have created comprehensive scales to measure e SQ. Since SERVQUAL is the definitive measurement of service quality (Wilson et al, 2008), it stands to reason that many scales measuring e SQ would be based ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Often times the gods and goddesses of Olympus were forced to put mortals in their place, or in a way, make apparent that they are immortal while man is mortal. In these tales hubris often played a part, as some mortals displayed excessive pride often used in defiance of the gods. In most of those situations the consequences were swift and relentless; as opposed to killing transgressors, the gods preferred to make their criminals immortal, often setting them at impossible tasks or painful experiences for the rest of eternity. In an article written by Michael Van Duisen, he writes, Many mortals tried to trick or challenge the gods, and all ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Used still today as examples in philosophy and even psychology, the myth of Sisyphus represents the mindset of mortals and reactions to impossible tasks. He acted as a highwayman and as such had privy to godly secrets. He occasionally passed along these secrets, often about the underworld and often for a price. He used what he had learned to capture and confine Death himself, putting him in chains. With Death thus captured, no one in the mortal word could die and the underworld grew quiet and empty, which Hades lamented. Hades, god of the underworld, spoke with Ares, the god of war, who was also furious about the situation. Ares proceeded to the underworld and freed Death, also wounding Sisyphus. Before he passed however, he planned a way to once again escape his fate. Sisyphus ordered his wife to leave him unburied, and also, once he was in the underworld, requested Hades permission to go back to the world of the living and reprimand his wife. Hades granted his request, but instead of doing as he said he would, Sisyphus remained on Earth, living many more years and taking part in great pleasures; that is until the gods grew tired of his games and enacted his punishment. He was ripped back to the underworld, and although after he was received there is not much mention of him, we know that his punishment for all eternity is to push a giant boulder uphill relentlessly, until he nears the top, at which time the boulder rolls back downhill, ... • 20. Problems Caused By Overpopulation Is The Rise Of A Place... Problems Caused by Overpopulation in Cities Overpopulation is The condition of a place populated with excessively large numbers . It is considered a problem in many senses, since it causes a number of issues for various different reasons. One major issue caused by overpopulation is the rise of unemployment. This is when people actively seeking employment or just people that are able to work remain unemployed. Overpopulation causes this because the amount of jobs available would be the same as before the city became overpopulated, meaning that there wouldn t be enough jobs for the amount of people needing one. This would cause many companies to have lost business. Furthermore, this could even result in more unemployment, because the companies may be forced to make cutbacks of their own within their staff or branches (if it was a shop). From all this evidence, we can see that unemployment is a major issue, and affects many people. A large amount of unemployed people are in that condition due to overpopulation, proving that overpopulation is the cause of a significant problem. A second problem caused by overpopulation is the degradation of the environment. With oil, water and natural gases being overused, it starts having severe effects on the environment. There are many negative consequences that we may have to face related to this, the cause of them being overpopulation. There are three main types of environmental degradation. The first type is air. Air pollution is one of the bigger issues within this category. Not only does it damage the air, it is also a hazard to human and animal health. Particles from the pollution can easily lodge themselves into lungs, and cause many problems in the body. Another type of environmental degradation of air is the depletion of the ozone layer. If the ozone layer is damaged, lots of ultra violet rays from the sun will be able to reach the Earth s surface. John Wycliffe And The Lollards Function The writings of John Wycliffe and the Lollards function as sort of a prequel to the protestant reformation that would sweep through England and Europe in the sixteenth century. It is clear that the Lollards were not all perfect representations of Wycliffe s beliefs. Furthermore, just like the many divisions of Protestantism, Lollardism was made up of many groups of differing opinion. It was not a monolith. However, there are numerous discernible similarities in belief between Wycliffe, and his varied followers, and the eventual English Reformation. The writings of John Wycliffe were a significant precursor in the political and religious developments of the English Reformation. One of the primary concerns of Wycliffe was the temporal power of the clergy. His first works, including the De Civili Dominio, focused on the unwelcomed intrusion of the pope and his clergy into secular affairs. This was not a view unique to the fourteenth century. Kings had often vied against the Pope for power throughout the Middle Ages. The extent of the Pope s influence and power in foreign realms was certainly not a settled issue in England or the rest of Catholic Europe. The De civili dominio suggests that it is the responsibility of the state, and its secular rulers, to judge the morality of the church. Comparison of Authority Figures in Romeo and Juliet and Shakespeare in Love Stoppard s satirical movie, Shakespeare in Love, is a play on Shakespeare s tragic love story, Romeo and Juliet. Stoppard places Shakespeare himself into a relationship with Viola De Lesseps, that resembles the relationship between Romeo and Juliet. Stoppard incorporates countless parallels into the film from Shakespeare s love story, including the character development of major authority figures. The prince and the queen, Capulet and Viola s father, and the Friar and the Priest are all figures of authority and parallel between the two works; Stoppard gave his cast similarities to Shakespeare s characters, but they also varied in some aspects. Stoppard s decision to both keep some and change some character attributes of these authority figures helps contribute and develop the ending of the movie, just as Shakespeare s character developments contributed to the outcome of his plays. In Romeo and Juliet, the supreme authority is the Prince; he is the governing individual in Verona, Italy where the setting takes place, just as Queen Elizabeth is shown as the highest authority in England in Shakespeare in Love. One key difference between these leaders in the stories is that the Prince is mostly concerned with keeping the peace, while the Queen also appreciates and respects Viola s risk and is excited by Viola and her relationship with Shakespeare. The Queen is exhilarated by the whole ordeal. She ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 43. Stem Cell Regulation Skin with its hair follicle is an excellent system to study molecular mechanism of stem cell regulation. Due to constant need of tissue regeneration, it has abundant number of stem cells. Hair follicle consist of a permanent portion sebaceous gland and below it is a bulge area, which houses Hair follicle epidermal stem cells(HFSCs). Bulge also provides niche for melanocyte stem cells interspersed between HFSCs. Behavior of the two stem cells is well coordinated. Differentiating melanocytes transfer pigment to terminally differentiated hair follicles (Nishimura et al., 2002; Tanimura et al., 2011; Rabbani et al., 2011).Hair follicle undergoes cyclical bouts of 3 phases anagen (phase of active growth), catagen (destruction phase) and telogen (rest phase) (Hardy, 1992). HFSCs give rise to daughter stem cells which are retained in the bulge area and others form, either epidermal progenitors which migrate upwards during tissue repair or it forms hair matrix progenitors which migrate below to form hair shaft (Niemann Watt 2002; Oshima et al., 2001; Taylor et al. 2000). In early 1990s, HFSCs were located in the bulge region by label retention studies (Cotsarelis et al., 1990; Morris and Potten, 1994). Later in 2001, presence of HFSCs in bulge area was confirmed by transplantation experiments. When lac z labeled bulge region from adult mice was transplanted into hairless mice, lac z labeled cells formed morphologically distinct hair follicle (Oshima et., 2001). Lineage tracing ... • 44. Beowulf s Heroic Characteristics Epic heroes have many common characteristics, many of which are portrayed by the hero Beowulf throughout the poem. These common characteristics are generally heroic in nature. Beowulf has inhuman strength which is most notably displayed when he tears the monster Grendel s arm clean off. He is extraordinarily loyal to his men, his own king, and the king Hrothgar. His most impressive heroic trait however, is his courage. All three of the monsters he faced had done nothing but destroy and terror those that Beowulf had come to protect, but that didn t slow him down one bit. He was always unyielding in his pursuit of these monsters, with fear never becoming an issue. Beowulf s heroic qualities affect the epic in more ways than one. If ... He was capable of doing just about anything, but he as he grew to know those that he was helping he learned that he wanted to keep these people safe, not just be the coolest guy in town. They became important to him, an he lost quite a bit of his pompous attitude and developed one of love. He cared about those he was protecting and it began to show. This change in thought was greater than strength, courage, loyalty, or bravery. When he died fighting the dragon, it showed that he wasn t just waltzing into battle because of some kind of ignorant courage, but because of his love for the people he served. His people further reinforced this thought by mourning his death in such a solemn manner. The were truly saddened by the loss of their great hero. In the end, he served his people out of love, and they loved him for it. While his courage was always profound, it was more courageous, and more heroic, to be courageous in order to protect those you care so much about, than it is to be courageous just because you want everyone to know that you re incredibly strong and ... In this essay, I will be talking about all the things that Jurgis as well as his family have overcome. Such as their downfalls as well as how they prospered and managed to stay together through most of the novel. Social Darwinism helps you get a different perspective of all the things going on in the societal classes. When someone has no motivation they really have no want to succeed. Being an immigrant and coming to the United States doesn t mean you re going to get rich at the instant. Even by working, you won t get at the level of the upper class rich people. Dishonesty is shown a lot among immigrants. Jurgis for example at the beginning of the novel had his family, his wife Ona, which made him the happiest man alive. No matter how rough the situation was he wouldn t care because he had his wife. Life put Jurgis through some pretty tough obstacles like the death of Ona and then shortly after the death of his baby. The so called real estate agent offered them a deal on this supposed great house that was cheap and exactly what they were looking for but little did Jurgis know that with that house came many more little pricy things that the agent forgot to tell them. Since that point on every day living in that house was hell. Everyone in that household worked and they barely made it through the month. Barely made it through with ... People with Type A personality generally are obsessed with being on time, competitive, impatient, and may be easily angered and hostile. These traits may become dangerous as they can lead to heart problems because of the anger these people possess. I believe that my personality corresponds to Type A. Although I normally am late for most things, I get very paranoid when I am running late for something I am passionate about. For example, I am never late for the movies. I always check the timings a few hours earlier and try to be at the movie theater around 45 minutes earlier. Another piece of evidence that points to me being Type A is that I am excessively competitive and cutthroat. I must do anything and everything to be the best. I believe that there is no point in doing anything unless you want to be number one. My philosophy (which I borrowed from Grey s Anatomy 2x22) is that being that second best is mediocre, and to settle for mediocrity is a sign of self disrespect and a substandard work ethic.
