The Importance Of Security In School Security
Identification and exploration of need
I aim to design a simple system to implement into the schools existing security as at the moment it is
very easy for people to enter and exit the school both in and out of school hours. Also with incidents
involving the school poorly set up security system makes more of a need for an update the current
one.Although it is a bad thing be so open it also does have the benefit of allowing staff and students to
leave when allowed but also allowing them to leave without permission.Having a stricter system may
slow down the process of people exiting and entering the school legitimately
Areas of investigation
Areas i believe need to be investigated
How often staff or students leave the school with permission within school hours ?
Is it a danger not having it ?
Consideration of design factors
Criteria to evaluate success
The success of this design will be assessed from the function and ergonomics of this design as it needs
to function and solve the problem of the lack of security currently, yet whilst stricting the security
make sure people that are trying to leave and enter the school properly can do so.Meaning that the
system will be deemed successful if it is aesthetically pleasing and welcoming to students and and the
community yet have a distinct look that will deter unwanted people. Also it will need to perform the
the task of keeping people inside the school safe and the schools property safe as well

Captain James Cook Essay
Captain James Cook was an English seaman who lived in the eighteenth century. He was one of the
world s greatest explorers. Between 1768 and l779, he made three great voyages of exploration to the
Pacific Ocean. The purpose of these voyages was to get information about lands already known and to
discover new lands.
Captain Cook s first voyage began in August of 1768. On this voyage, he had only one ship with a
crew of 94 seamen. He sailed south from England across the Atlantic Ocean and around the tip of
South America. Then, he sailed west into the Pacific Ocean. Eventually, he discovered the large
islands of New Zealand and drew maps of their coasts. Then, he continued west until he came to the
east coast of Australia. He found this coast to be fertile, a fact which was not known in Europe at that
time. He returned to England in July of 1771.
In the next year, Captain Cook began his second voyage of exploration. On this voyage, he had two
ships and about 200 seamen. The purpose of this voyage was to try to discover if there was a continent
other than Australia in the South pacific. Re sailed from England in July of 1772. When he reached the
South Pacific, he turned directly south into the cold Antarctic ... Show more content on

or an actual lesson. By the time he was 13 years old, Dizzy became so good at the trumpet that he

A Brief Note On The American Nurses Association
autonomy.
The American Nurses Association gives a comprehensive list of responsibilities that are to be carried
out by a registered nurse. It includes performance of physical examinations, taking health histories,
providing health promotion, counseling and education, administering medications, wound care and
numerous other personalized interventions, interpreting the patient information and making critical
decisions about needed actions, coordination of care in collaboration with a wide array of healthcare
professionals, directing and supervising care delivered by other healthcare personnel such as the
nursing aides and also to conduct research in support of improved practice and patient outcomes

The third step is planning and this involves the development of goals and outcomes whereby a plan of
care is designed to help assist the patient to achieve the goals by resolving the identified diagnosis.
Implementation involves translation of the plan to action. The final step which is the evaluation
involves the determination of the extent to which the outcomes have been achieved or not.
According to NANDA International, Inc. (formerly the acronym to North American Nursing
Diagnosis Association) medical diagnosis deals with disease or medical conditions. However nursing
diagnosis deals with the human response to actual or potential health problems and life processes. This
has been elucidated with an example that points to the differences in how a doctor and a nurse would
approach the same health condition. The medical diagnosis of cerebrovascular attack (stroke) would
provide one with the information about the patient s pathology. When we look at the complimentary
nursing diagnoses such as impaired verbal communication, risk for falls, interrupted family processes
and powerlessness, they provide with a more holistic understanding of the impact of that stroke on this
particular patient and his family. Thus it also direct nursing interventions to obtain patient specific
outcomes (NANDA International n.d.).

American Federation of Musicians Essay
Every day millions of Americans turn on their radios, IPods, or some other device which allows them
to listen to their favorite musicians and have no idea that there is a union standing guard to ensure the
rights of those very musicians. The average American may think their favorite musicians are rolling
dough and not realize that for the past hundred and fourteen years the American Federation of
Musicians, aka AFM, has worked to improve the professional lives of musicians across North
America. (American Federation of Musicians, 2010) AFM attracts its members with a mission to unite
professional musicians which states, We can live and work in dignity; Our work will be fulfilling and

(American Federation of Musicians, 2010) As technology and membership grew so did the scope and
responsibilities of the union. During the twentieth century the AFM dealt with political issues such as
unemployment, immigration, the 18th Amendment, and other legislation which affected the union s
power in negotiating for musicians. Though the union lost its battle to stop Congress from the passing
the 18th Amendment and the Cabaret Tax in 1918, they were successful the following year in
arranging easier access for musicians traveling between the US and Canada and they were able to
reduce the number of foreign musicians, willing to work for poor wages, who were allowed to enter
the US. While the union still actively worked for the rights of musicians in the 1920 s their next major
victory didn t come until 1935 when they were able to secure assistance for unemployed musicians
through the government s Works Projects Administration. From that time on the union fought
tirelessly to establish minimum wages for all musicians, to have the cabaret tax repealed
(accomplished in 1966), to reach an agreement with the motion picture industry (accomplished in
1952), and

Deep Sea Vents Essay
Furthermore, the deep sea vent hypothesis aims to explain the origin of life on Earth. (i fixed bc awk)
Deep undersea vents are often hosts to rich microbial communities. In Hydrothermal vents and the
origin of life, William Martin, John Baross, Deborah Kelley, and Michael J. Russel (2008, p.805) note,
the presence of H2 and CO2 near hydrothermal vent systems and surrounding prokaryotic autotrophs
may hold clues for the chemistry of the origin of life. The environment of hydrothermal vents are
reminiscent of an early Earth with 360o Celsius sulphide chimneys, a mixture of reactive gases and
dissolved elements, along with both thermal and chemical gradients (Martin et al., 2008, p.805). The
reactive environments of deep sea vents, along with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are two types of deep sea vents: a new classification discovered with carbonate chimneys, later
dubbed the Lost City Hydrothermal Field (LCHF) and black smokers (Martin et al., 2008, p.805). The
LCHF s atmosphere revealed a lava composition similar to eruptions within primordial Earth oceans.
During the Hadean Era...(explain how oceans were then)*. The LCHF is off axis, meaning when the
sea floor began to spread, the field s vents formed irregular to other black smoker deep sea vents
(Martin et al., 2008, p.805 06). As a result of being off axis, near its spreading zone, the LCHF is
exposed to heat from the mantle and possibly other chemical reactions take place (Martin et al., 2008,
p.806). These chemical reactions result in high magnesium and iron deposits around the LCHF,
creating a high alkaline level (pH 9 11) (Martin et al., 2008, p.806). Cascaded from the LCHF vents is
a mixture of H2 and CH4, but little CO2, making some question whether CO2 is required for abiotic
synthesis or if the surrounding environment still provides the conditions for the process (Martin et al.,

6-Year-Learning About Baseball Research Paper
When I started learning about baseball. I started studying the game the most in second grade during
the winter because, well, I wasn t outside practicing. It was simply too cold and it saddened me that I
simply couldn t play the game due to the weather outside. So I got online and went to MLB.com and I
started from the 1960 s the end of the baseball golden age. Which happened to be the end of the career
of my favorite baseball player of all time (Stan Musial). Which is why I started there. It seemed like
the perfect starting point. From then on I moved backward until I got to 1919 learned about the
Chicago Black Sox. This was a 6 year learning experience.

Essay On Yellowstone Supervolcano
The Yellowstone is known as one of six largest supervolcanoes in the world. Though this
supervolcano has not erupted recently it does have continue to have volcanic activities. The previous
eruption remains have been found outside of the Yellowstone National Park that link to the
Yellowstone Caldera. Ben Ellis and Mark Darren, authors of the article Super eruptions and silicic
volcanism from the Yellowstone volcanic field, describes current volcanic activities of this area and
how it has expanded and transition from its previous super eruptions to what has happen now, and

Causes And Consequences Of Premature Birth Essay
Introduction Babies born before thirty seven weeks gestation are considered to be preterm, or
premature. More than one in every ten babies is born too early. Preterm birth complications are the
leading cause of death among children under five years of age. Premature birth has a wide range of
effects. All babies born before thirty seven weeks gestation are at risk for complications that can have
a lasting effect on the growing baby and family. At twenty four weeks, the survival rate of a premature
baby is only fifty percent. The many different causes and effects that premature birth can have on the
baby, his/her future development and family will be further discussed in this paper. At birth a baby is
considered one of the following: Premature (less than thirty seven weeks gestation), Full term (thirty
seven to forty two weeks gestation), Post term (born after forty two weeks gestation) (Kaneshiro). A
premature baby is not fully developed due to exiting the womb prior to reaching full term. Due to this
complication, premies will spend time in the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) if the doctor deems
it necessary. A baby born at full term weighs somewhere between five pounds eight ounces and eight
pound thirteen ounces. A baby born at thirty two weeks weighs somewhere around three and a half
pounds, twenty eight weeks two and a half pounds, and twenty four weeks one and a half pounds. This
low birth weight and underdevelopment causes many issues for the

J. D. Salinger Synthesis Essay
Over the course of life, many people have experienced a traumatic event or tragedy in their life.
However, many of those people develop coping mechanisms to deal with its effects on their everyday
life as well as their overall mentality. Whether it be courageous or cowardly, they will use whatever
they can to help deal with the pain that has come upon them. J.D Salinger, author of The Catcher in
the Rye, and Holden Caulfield, an unstable teenager constantly being kicked out of school after
school, have both suffered through traumatic events in their lives which had affected them later along
the road. World War II took hold of Salinger, made him a soldier and even greatly affected his sanity.

was pushed by professor he met at Columbia University. Whit Burnett convinced him to use his skills
to write for publications such as Colliers, Saturday Evening Post, and Story, as mentioned by the
editors of J.D Salinger Biography, Biography.com. In an interview with David Shields and Shane
Salerno on their biography, Salinger, they spoke of Salinger serving as a soldier in World War II, and
how he was believed to be working on The Catcher in the Rye during the war. They also suggest that
to him, working on the novel at the time was, ...almost as a talisman to keep him alive... Shields and
Salerno also add that when he was finished and ready to publish, he struggled even further. One of the
publishers he approached to get his work published hurt him deeply, which even could have even
caused even more reason to Salinger s later actions. After he had published the novel, he did not
expect as much fame as he received and soon became overwhelmed. This fame is what caused his
later isolation from the rest of the world, success he had seemingly craved early in life became
something he ran away from once it came (Biography.com). After his isolation, Salinger later died,

Iran Essay
Iran and the IAEA s Earlier Attempts Following the discovery of the undeclared construction of a
large underground nuclear related facility in Natanz and the existence of highly enriched uranium in
2002, the Iranian nuclear crisis began in full force. The following summer, the then director of the
IAEA, Mohamed ElBaradei, presented a report to the IAEA Board of Governors in which failures and
breaches of safeguards by Iran were cited without ambiguity and additional inspections were
recommended (Mousavin 66). Despite this, ElBaradei refused to say the Iran was in noncompliance

for its harsh advances against Iran. In February 2006, Iran was referred to the S.C. by the IAEA Board
of Governors and in June, China, Russia and the U.S. joined the E3 to form the P5+1. In response,
Iran announced that they would resume uranium enrichment activities and end implementation of the
Additional Protocol ( Iran 1). Before advancing further, it is necessary to analyze the events of 2003
2005 to understand the role of the IAEA during this period and why such broad international
assistance was needed to achieve the slightest of results. After receiving the Board of Director s
resolution of September 2003, Iran immediately questioned its authority as it was outside of the
Safeguards Agreements and Additional Protocol. Iran believed the resolution and request for
cooperation had no legal base and would be accepted not as an international obligation but as a gesture
of goodwill and a confidence building measure (Mousavin 74). It was not until Iran was threatened
with referral to the S.C. under Article XII, Paragraph C of the IAEA statute that they began to comply.
Iran was not prepared to handle the consequences of a referral, which would threaten the country with
isolation (Mousavin 76). In addition, suspicion of Iran had spread from the Western countries to
Russia, China, and its Middle Eastern neighbors. It was only after immense

Destruction Of Rwanda
Between the 1870s and 1900, much of Africa was scavenged at the hands of Europeans, divvied up
between Britain, France, Germany, Belgium, Italy, Portugal, and Spain without much regard to the
people who actually inhabited the continent [Fouberg et al, Iweriebor]. From this, Rwanda arose as an
entity, as part of German East Africa, after the League of Nations mandate of Belgium following
World War I. Rwanda is located inland on the African continent, just below the equator, and
surrounded by Congo, Burundi, Tanzania, and Uganda (as seen in the map on page 3).
Roughly 85% of Rwanda s population consists of Hutus and the remaining 15% Tutsi, with a small
population of Twa, a Pygmy group who were the original inhabitants of Rwanda [The Rwandan
Genocide, 2009]. Though the Tutsis are thought to have migrated into the Rwandan and Burundi area

The Characteristics Of Psychopaths In Pop Culture
Psychopaths are prevalent in almost every aspect of life. They are at school, in the office, and at the
grocery store. People view psychopaths as socially removed and isolated, but many with psychopathic
traits lead normal lives with their own quirks. Functional psychopathy has become more and more
normalized, as it has been featured in different aspects of pop culture. Many people hope to break the
stereotype associated with psychopathy in order for society to become more inclusive of mental
disorders, and also to educate more people about psychopathic behavior through popular shows and
movies. One example of a functional yet quirky psychopath in pop culture is Dwight Schrute from
The Office. The Office is set at the Dunder Mifflin Paper Company, in Scranton, Pennsylvania, with
Michael Scott managing the staff. Also called an office mockumentary, the series follows the
shenanigans, strange happenings, and hysterical moments that take place in the office at Dunder
Mifflin. Viewers love to see how different each of the characters are, and how often their differences

Dwight is perhaps the most dedicated and hardworking member of the staff, as he is the leading
salesman. Many of his co workers enjoy teasing him, and while this is funny to viewers of the show, it
causes Dwight to get himself into trouble and make himself appear annoying to others in the office.

Analysing Theories Of Loss And Grief In Social Work Practice
Analyse theories of loss and grief in respect of their relevance for social work practice
Both grief and loss are an inevitable part of human existence and are at the heart of life and growth
(Walter and McCoyd, 2009). Some losses are painful and consequently trigger grief, however some
losses are natural and a part of development, such as maturation, and usually seen as progression but

example from childhood into adolescence, and offer support through difficult losses. Loss can occur

Capital Leases and Operating Leases Essay
ACCT 3303 | CAPITAL LEASE vs. OPERATING LEASE | |
Dr. Serge Ryno
ACCT 3303
December 2, 2011
Capital Lease vs. Operating Lease Firms often choose to lease long term assets rather than buy them
for a variety of reasons including the tax benefits that are greater to the lessor than the lessees and
leases offer more flexibility in terms of adjusting to changes in technology and capacity needs. Lease
payments create the same kind of obligation that interest payments on debt create, and have to be
viewed in a similar light. If a firm is allowed to lease a significant portion of its assets and keep it off
its financial statements, an examination of the statements will give a very misleading view of the
company s financial strength. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The better the financials look, the easier it is to get needed financing in the future. Since there is no
ownership involved, operating leases offer a great deal of flexibility. For example, a small business
doesn t need to worry about equipment becoming obsolete. A company can simply lease newer
equipment. The ability to directly expense leasing costs provides some accounting benefit. When a
company owns an asset, accounting rules dictate that the property, plant or equipment must be
depreciated and held on the balance sheet for the asset s useful life. In effect, this ties up the company
s cash flow and leverages the company to financiers. Operating leases are not subject to these
constraints. One disadvantage of entering an operating lease involves the higher level of expenses
reported. Businesses who enter operating leases record a lease expense for each period throughout the
duration of the lease. These expenses appear on the company s income statement. The income
statement reports the revenues earned for the period, the expenses incurred and the net income for the
period. Operating leases represent temporary arrangements between the lessor and the company. When
the lease expires, the terms of that lease become void. The lessor and the company spend time
renegotiating the terms or ending the relationship. The company needs to reconsider the lease and
evaluate its options on a regular basis. This lack of continuity

If asked what democracy is, many would claim that it is a government by the people a phrase
popularized by Abraham Lincoln in his Gettysburg Address. However, in today s society, there are
three prominent theories pluralism, elitism, and hyperpluralism that attempt to explain who exactly
has the power and influence in the United States of America. Each theory is centralized based on their
own ideals and conclusions about who truly governs the nation. Our democracy has components of
each of these political theories; each one has its own advantages and disadvantages. The three

idea that competing interests groups have gotten too powerful making it impossible to accomplishing
anything. This can result to muddled policy and policy gridlock due to the fact that some politicians
will try to placate every group. Hyperpluralists assert that groups are the sovereign with the
government their mere servant as powerful groups let their money and power do the talking. In this
theory, average citizens are able to take part in policymaking by joining interest groups like in
pluralism. However, it is taken to another level in this theory as interest groups that lose policymaking
battles in Congress carry their agenda to the court. These groups and their members take advantage of
the court system to get what they want and to bend policies to suit their own purposes. On the other
hand, the Framers would not have expected for interest groups to gain that much power over the
government, let alone use the judicial system for their own purposes. At that time, the Framers
probably looked down on average citizens as they were illiterate, though I think that they would have
been tolerant of groups whose members were wealthy and white. It would have been harder for
interest groups to make use of the judicial system as well because judicial review is not specifically

The Sun Also Rises is a novel by Ernest Hemingway (1926). Hemingway deliberately shaped the
protagonists in The Sun Also Rises as allegorical figures (Bloom, 1985, pp. 107). The novel
symbolizes the impotence felt by the main characters after World War I.
Jake Barnes, the narrator, had a wound from an accident that happened during the war. The injury
damaged his genitalia. As a result, Barnes could no longer make love, but could still feel the desire.
Barnes felt physically less than a man. Barnes made a comment about hating homos . This shows that
Barnes was insecure about his masculinity. For this reason, he later found himself strongly attracted to
the young bullfighter, Pedro Romero, whose manhood stood without women.

The Most Effective Form of Media Essay
The Most Effective Form of Media There are many different types of media. The media is things like:
televisions, newspapers, magazines, radio, internet, cinema, phones and many more. Media is
important because it influences people to buy products. They are very affective and appeal to many
people. Adverts are things that show certain products and try to get you to buy them. The purpose of
adverts is to make you buy the products being advertised so they can make a profit. Companies spend
a lot of money on adverts because if the adverts are perfect the product s sales will be much higher
than when the product isn t advertised. We find adverts everywhere you find them on the television,

Channels four, five and ITV do show adverts because they need the money from the advertisement
companies so their channel can keep afloat. Sky and cable completely rely on television adverts
because they need it for the funding. The advantages of advertising on the television is you can have
sound, movement, special affects and it is visual. The disadvantages of advertising on the television is
that the programme you are watching is split up, people usually go for a snack when they come on and
the small print can be difficult to read. I have analysed a television advert and I have chosen, L Oréal ,
the shampoo and conditioner. The target audience for this is probably women that like to look after
their hair. The time the advert appeared was between nine and ten at night, on ITV. It was on between
Footballers Wives, and this was a good time to put it on as the target audience may have been
watching the television at this time. The reason I have chosen this product is because it has a lot of
hidden persuaders, and persuasive techniques. Persuasive techniques and hidden persuaders used are
the use of statistics, when it says that there was, 95% less brakeage of hair . There is also the use of
science when it shows a strand of hair, and it says, It has Nutri Cerimide R , which sounds impressive

The Vocal Folds Of The Larynx
Introduction:
The larynx is the part of the respiratory system that contains the vocal folds, and is responsible for the
creation of sound. The larynx sits on top of the trachea or windpipe, which allows for air to pass to
and from the lungs when the body inhales and exhales. Positioned at the upper opening of the larynx
are two mucous membranes that make up the vocal folds or glottis. The vocal folds consist of twin
flaps of cartilage, on average two to four centimeters long, in the shape of a V that vibrate together
when air passes through the trachea. They work together with the resonating chambers in the head,
like the nose and mouth, to create sound. This process is known as phonation, ...The phonation

Honey is a common household food item with many medicinal properties, and is a hypertonic
osmotic. The goal of osmosis is to bring substances with a high concentration of particles to a lower
concentration and equalize both solvents on either side. A hypertonic osmotic is a substance that is
able to draw decrease the concentration of fluid in cells through osmosis due to the higher
concentration of pressure outside the cells, than inside the cells. The significant amount of sugar
present in honey is what raises pressure to draw any leakage out of enlarged cells. The antibacterial
property of honey was first recognized in 1892 by Van Ketel. It has often been assumed that this is due
entirely to the osmotic effect of its high sugar content. Honey, like other saturated sugar syrups and
sugar pastes, has an osmolarity sufficient to inhibit microbial growth (Molan. 2001) . The osmotic
nature of honey draws excess fluid out of inflamed or infected cells. The Goal of this experiment is to
identify the impact of honey and water on vocal range. Through measuring the difference between the
total number of musical notes sung by participants before exposure to the dependent variable (honey
water mixture); and after, the effectiveness of honey water will be demonstrated. The measurable
results of this experiment are the starting vocal ranges of each subject tested, the experimental results
of the subjects vocal ranges after drinking the honey water mixture, and the

European Colonization in Shakespeare s The Tempest Essay
No Critique of European Colonization in The Tempest
Since the 1960s, several critics have found a critique of colonialism in their respective readings of
Shakespeare s The Tempest. The most radical of these analyses takes Prospero to be a European
invader of the magical but primitive land that he comes to rule, using his superior knowledge to
enslave its original inhabitants, most notably Caliban, and forcing them to do his bidding. While the
textual clues concerning the geographic location of Prospero s island are ambiguous and vague, there
is a prominent references to the Bermoothes. We know that shortly before he wrote his final play,
Shakespeare read a contemporary travel account of the Virginia Company s 1609 expedition to ...

Just as Native American tribes would come to distinguish between colonizers from different nations,
e.g., favoring the French over the British or vice versa, Caliban becomes disenchanted with Trinculo
as a master and proclaims that he will only serve Stephano. For his part, like some great father
protecting his children from a European rival, Stephano rebukes Trinculo for his mistreatment of
Caliban, saying that the poor monster s my subject, and he shall not suffer indignity (III, ii., ll.36 37).
All of this closely resembles some aspects of European colonialist stereotypes of the New World s
peoples and of their historical subjugation of Indians for their own good.
If Shakespeare s play does comment upon European exploration and colonization in the Western
Hemisphere, however, The Tempest does not contain a critique of exploitation, but, instead, an
apology for it. Caliban was initially treated as an ignorant child and only put under wraps after he
attempted to force himself upon the completely innocent Miranda. The charge of rape is made more
credible in having Miranda pass judgment upon Caliban whom she calls an Abhorr d slave (I, ii.,
l.352). Unlike our current understanding of European colonialism, Prospero puts Caliban in chains
because he has earned the status of

Juveniles And The Juvenile Justice System
Juveniles committing crimes is not a new issued being introduced to society; actually, it has been an
issue for centuries. However, the big question is, should juveniles be tried in adult courts? Before
answering, take into consideration every possible scenario that could have led them to commit the
crime. For instance, were they the leader in the act? Did they participate in the crime? Was the
juvenile even aware of what was taking place? Were they peer pressured? Did they have any other
choice at the time? There are so many other questions we could consider when making a decision
here.
In addition, think about how they will be affected if tried as an adult and convicted. Let us remember,
the United States has the Juvenile Justice System, which is solely for juvenile delinquents. This is
supposed to protect them from receiving longer sentences, and harsh punishments, which is the
opposite of adult courts. Also, the Juvenile Justice System is supposed to help rehabilitate the juvenile.
Luckily, for juveniles, the court had recognized that even homicide does not warrant a mandatory life
sentence without the possibility of parole if the offender is less than 18 years old at the time of the
crime (Holt p.1395). However, in Nevada, Mississippi, and Utah, lawmakers now leave it up to the
juvenile courts to decide whether to transfer a juvenile to adult court (Brown p. 21). Unfortunately,
juveniles sent to adult prison suffer physically, mentally, and emotionally. With that

Rejection From Society In The Loons, By Margaret Laurence
Essay
Rejection from society, forces an individual to alter their identity in order to be accepted by the people
around them. Many First Nations are viewed as outsiders, bringing a lot of racism toward them. In
The Loons by Margaret Laurence, Piquette is a Metis girl who is isolated from society and does not fit
in with her surroundings. This leads to her rejecting her personal identity as First Nations, trying to fit
in with societal norm. Piquette begins to assimilate into the culture around her and become things that
she is not. However, she becomes soon becomes unsatisfied with her artificial identity and depressed
in life, blocking out everyone around her. Through The Loons, Laurence demonstrates that when an
individual is isolated from society, it becomes difficult for them to integrate into the culture around
them without changing themselves.
Initially, Piquette is viewed as an outsider by society when she accepts her personal identity as Metis.
When Piquette is invited by Ewen to his summer cabin, Vanessa falsely believes that Piquette must be
in some way a daughter of the forest, a kind of junior prophetess of the wilds, who might impart to
me. If I took the right approach, some of the secrets which she undoubtedly knew where the
whippoorwill made her nest, how the coyote reared her young, or whatever it was that it said in
Hiawatha (112). Piquette and many other First Nations have been stereotyped and misinterpreted for
so long that society labels them with certain traits. When Ewen proposes that Piquette come to the
family s summer cabin, it is immediately rejected by Vanessa s grandmother saying if that half breed
youngster comes along to Diamond Lake, I m not going (110). The Metis are not accepted by the
majority of society, making it difficult for them to feel like they fit in and are appreciated throughout
the community. This creates a divide between society and the Metis and other First Nations groups.
Vanessa s warped views and perspectives about First Nations illustrate how the majority of society
views Aboriginal people.
After being rejected for her Metis identity, Piquette is forced to change in order to be accepted by the
people around her. Four years later, Vanessa

7. Watch your fat intake.
Fat is not the culprit to being overweight. You need this to keep your weight at the proper level.
There is such a thing as healthy fats. Olive, peanuts and canola oil have them. Tuna, salmon and

Analysis Of Normal Life By Dean Spade
Dean Spade and Critical Trans Politics
Activist and professor Dean Spade, in his book Normal Life: Administrative Violence, Critical Trans
Politics, and the Limits of Law, condemns current law policies surrounding discrimination and hate
crimes against transgender and gender non conforming populations. Spade proposes a critical trans
politics that is superior to the equal rights efforts of gay and lesbian activists up to this point in United
States history. Instead of desiring to be included in a law enforcement system that oppresses the
people it claims to protect, proponents of Spade s critical trans politics argue that the entire system,

This drastically reduces the life chances of poor people, queer and trans people, immigrants, and
people of color. In practice, every law system and mainstream law reform effort has attempted to
assign people and groups of people into two categories: who is worthy of a chance at a good life, and
who is not. Spade s proposal of a critical trans politics creates a system in which life chances are
redistributed in a way that gives marginalized groups the opportunity to survive and succeed. Within
the United States government en masse, there are many legal systems that contribute to the uneven
distribution of life chances and thus require dismantling and radical reconstruction. These include the
criminal justice system, the education system, the prison system (also called the prison industrial
complex), the social welfare system, the immigration system, the housing system, the healthcare
system, and the U.S. military. Each of these legal and political systems in some way targets a specific
population within the United States, very often transgender and gender variant people, and directly
reduces that population s life chances. This is the issue that Spade seeks to amend when he proposes
the move toward a critical trans politics.
Changing how large governmental structures function is neither an easy task nor a quick one; it will
require the undoing and unlearning of a very tightly held political and economic system by all parties
involved. At the center of Spade s call for

Annotation In A Midsummer Night
In the play A Midsummer Night s Fantasy by William Shakespeare. Shakespeare depicts four various
types of adoration constrained affection, parental affection, sentimental love, and entangled adoration.
In the start of the play, we see a constrained adoration amongst Theseus and Hippolyta the rulers of
the Amazons (David Bevington). Theseus notice in act 1 I charmed thee with my sword (David
Bevington), To depict that he won her with his sword as in the fight to win her affection. In Act 5
scene 1, Hippolyta says My Theseus (David Bevington), this shows she will wed him. Not certain if
both of these characters are truly infatuated or wedding since Theseus has won a fight. All through the
story, it appears that His affection for Hippolyta had most likely developed for her and driving them to
be hitched, since he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Egeus appears to seem exceptionally instructing and strict. His character speaks to that the father has
the privilege of the way and the supervisor. The reason being is despite the fact that Hermia is
frantically infatuated with Lysander he rejects them to wed. Egeus inclines toward Demetrius to wed
her since he trusts that he is most appropriate for her. As I would like to think I trust the reason Egeus
won t need his little girl to wed Lysander is on the grounds that he won t know him exceptionally well.
He likely knows Demetrius better as a character and, since he knows him exceptionally well. possibly
in Egeus brain, he is by all accounts most appropriate for her. Likewise, every father needs the best for
their little girl and needs them to be cheerful. He may trust that Demetrius will convey bliss to her
more than Lysander on the grounds that since he knows him well than Lysander in his eyes he s the
ideal man for her. Despite the fact that each father needs their little girl to be happy, they ought to hear
her out too as opposed to settling on their own

Persuasive Essay On Confirmation Bias
You see what you see, you hear what you hear but do you always believe what you see and hear. Most
people do believe everything they see and hear because they only remember what confirms their own
bias. We as people associate with others or certain medias that support the beliefs we have, and our
memories help us remember information that can be used as proof to make what we believe seem true.
The only problem that stands in the way is if the information we are receiving is true or not. There is
where most of us go wrong we don t fact check we just assume. We assumed pizzagate was true
without even considering it. Almost everyone uses confirmation bias wheather they realize it or not.
Confirmation bias is used to show intelligence and boosts self esteem, it is heavily influenced in the
news outlets and social media, and has a huge effect on society today.
Confirmation bias is something that every person is susceptible to, unless you know that you re doing
it. Confirmation bias is our tendency to seek out information that we already believe to be true. This
affects how you interpret information, how you seek information, and also how you remember things.
When you look at the world around you, it is the conformation bias in your head that is telling you
certain things to pay attention to more than others. Your brain tends to seek out evidence that confirms
your beliefs about something. You often do this because you do not want to be wrong about something
and will do anything

How Urbanisation Significantly Influences Bird Communities...
INTRODUCTION
The most drastic influences of human modifications result from urbanisation, a progression
characterised by human disturbance, buildings and other artificial infrastructure (Hahs and McDonnell
2006). Such modifications have significant effects on biodiversity, often with little thought being
given to the long term effects and ways of mitigating them.
In most cases, human alteration of the environment has reduced biological diversity by replacing the
native flora with new ecological spaces. However, urbanization, especially in suburbia, can introduce
many new resources (McDonnell and Pickett 1990; Pickett et al. 2001) which coexist with the natural
biota and increases diversity of avifauna in semi urban environments. It is ... Show more content on

These sites varied from industrial/urban areas to native vegetation hotspots, parklands and residential
areas. At each site the standardised search bird survey method was used (Watson 2003) with the
boundaries of the designated patch provided, the area was searched for any birds present (on ground,
in trees or in flight). Each detection was recorded according to their species, number observed and the
time observed. This process continued until no new species was sighted for 20 minutes. Any
observations about the site s vegetation, man made infrastructure and number of large native trees
(over 50 cm wide) were noted.
Then, a polygon was created for the shape of each site using Daft Logic
(http://www.daftlogic.com/projects google maps area calculator tool.htm) and converted into a KML
file (using http://converter.mygeodata.eu/) where the .shp file was opened in i Tree Canopy
(http://www.itreetools.org/canopy/index.php). The site s landscape features and coverage were
characterised according to the categories: trees/shrubs, impermeable surfaces, grass, water and
soil/bare ground with 20 random sampling points used per hectare. This was also conducted for the
surrounding landscape (a 250 m radius around centre of site). All coverage data was collated and cross
examined to explore the similarities and difference in bird diversity and richness.

Work Related Issues In Health Care Essay
problems that concern work or that occurs in a work place (Goodtherapy.org, 2017). Whilst doing my
case study, I noticed that the patients that I interviewed had experienced some work related issues. The
asthma patient had to refrain from any physical activity while he was at school before exercise could
trigger his asthma symptoms. Also, the influenza patient mentioned that they had to take some time
off work in order not to expose their colleagues to the influenza virus. Towards the ending of the
month, they found that their income was affected by the time off and said they would have to work
harder when they returned to catch up. From this, it is clear that work related issues can affect
individuals negatively, however some issues related to work can affect health care professionals too.
The work force can be affected by work related issues. If a particular organization is under staffed
(e.g. a hospital), they will be more dependent on agency workers. Agency s may charge the
organization more for the help that they will provide to the organization. This may mean that more
money is spent on staffing than on the support of patients. An example of this is when more money is

It is unlikely that people will need to make long lasting lifestyle changes if they suffer from influenza
however this is not the case for asthma patients. Patients with asthma may have to make changes such
as diet changes to help them manage their asthma because asthma is a long term illness. This is the
main difference between asthma and influenza. Although they are both considered respiratory
diseases, asthma is long term. As a result of this, the treatments differ to suit the patient s needs.
Asthma patients require a relief inhaler on their person through the day whereas an influenza patient
does not need to constantly have a form of medication with

Symptoms And Treatment Of Ptsd Veterans
It is evident that reforms are necessary within the VA system and society in regards to PTSD and
veterans. How can the American veterans be better taken care of? I will focus on the following four
specific issues that are in need of reform,
1. How can wait times be decreased for veterans seeking mental health treatment?
2. How can the stigma attached to PTSD in veterans be eliminated?
3. How can veterans receive immediate assistance in times of crisis?
4. How can we ensure that diagnosed PTSD veterans will continue treatment after receiving full
monetary compensation?
Focusing on these research questions, I propose to conduct research on decreasing wait times for
PTSD related appointments, reducing, or eliminating, the stigma attached to PTSD in veterans,
providing a way for veterans to receive immediate PTSD crisis help, and a way to ensure that veterans
diagnosed with PTSD continue treatment.
Veterans often experience long wait times to schedule an appointment for PTSD. Through additional
research I have found that according to a study in 2003 by the American Legion, of approximately
300,000 veterans waiting for health care, over half of them had been waiting over eight months for an
appointment (American Legion, 2013). I further researched how many VA facilities in the United
States offer specialized treatment for PTSD. In all 50 states, and Washington, DC, there are a total of
139 facilities (US Department of Veterans Affairs, 2015). I propose to conduct a telephone

The Other Side Of The Sky Short Story
The Adventures of Buck, Farah, and Piper
Imagine undertaking a life threatening mission. In The Other Side of the Sky, Farah Ahmedi walked
several miles through desert mountains to escape to Pakistan. While Piper McCloud used teamwork,
determination, and imagination to escape I.N.S.A.N.E and keep her ability to fly in The Girl Who
Could Fly, Buck undertook the mission of adapting to the wild, so he would be able to survive in the
book, Call of the Wild. However, all three were patient, determined, and used the help of others in
order to achieve their goals.
Without the help of Ghulam Ali and a positive mind, Farah Ahmedi wouldn t have been able to escape
Pakistan. For example, as Ahmedi was being shoved farther from the border of Pakistan, The Afghans
were yelling something, and the Pakistanis were yelling back (Ahmedi para. 1). Additionally, The
guards had clubs, and they had carbines, too, which they turned around and used as weapons (Ahmedi
para. 2). Ahmedi s goal was necessary because if she hadn t escaped, she would ve continued to suffer
in the conditions she was living in, and it could ve gotten worse as the time went by. As the text states,
How did I scale that mountain so easily? How did I climb down the other side (Ahmedi para. 12)?
Also, You and your mother are in my care now (Ahmedi para. 9). Farah, her mom, and the family they
were traveling with achieved their goal by making it past the several miles of mountains with Ghulam
Ali s help. According to

Single Sex School
Why Single Sex School?
Single sex schools are the best way of education and vital for our children in order for them to be
taught in an environment that is away from distractions and to be more successful, focused and
emotionally stable. There are several reasons which shows that single sex schools are important and
why it s the best way for good education.
The first reason is that boys and girls are not equal and develop at different times and speeds; therefore
they should be taught separately. Acording to Gilbert (2007), Aacademic planners and school
superintendents in the 1960 s had this foundamental assumption; they used to think that separate
means unequal, so fearing that they would be unfair, provoking inequality and sexual ... Show more

The second reason why single sex schools are the way to go is that boys and girls distract each other
from their education, especially in adolescence as their sexual and emotional sides develop. They
spend too much time trying to impress or sexually harassing each other especially boys toward girls.
Academic competition between the sexes is unhealthy and only adds to the unhappiness and anxiety
among weaker students. As Trichia Kelleher, a school principle, argues rather than girls defining
themselves by their interests, they define themselves by what the boys think of them or what other
girls think boys think of them . Furthermore, John Silber (2002), President of Boston University,
declared that his university would prioritize male applications in order to even up the student
composition and ensure the male population did not become ungentlemanly towards women due to
their numerical inferiority. John as a preident of Boston saw how females can be a sexual distraction
towarad males in class rooms and tried to slove that by admitting more males to the university. A
single sex environment is therefore a space where (children) can learn without feeling pressurized by
the other sex.
As odd it may sound, some people argues that children need to be exposed to the opposite sex in
preparation for later life; this fact should be further evaluated and analysed logically. Nobody in this
world comes without parents, and as children we can get

The Incredibles Film Analysis
Have you ever wondered what your family would be like with superhuman powers? The ability to go
beyond the standards of most is an amazing trait. Although, knowing your genetics are surging with an
insane, yet controllable, set of predetermined skills is outstanding. Brad Bird brings this complex
thought closer to reality in a civil animated, family, action, comedy title. The Incredibles is about a
seemingly simple modern day family. This family is one of few to have incredible superpowers. The
dad known as Mr. Incredible has always been a crime fighter. During his early years he is approached
by a small boy, his number one fan, who asks to be his side kick. Mr. Incredible insists that the kid
goes home instead of helping him. The movie focuses

The Idea Of Wergild In Beowulf
Literature has told many stories, from the dawn of creation to post apocalyptic societies, shaping the
minds and societies of all. Literature also tells the story of what society values and their ideals, their
struggles and triumphs. Old English literature is no exception. Another way in which all stories, share
something in common is the idea of a hero and his deeds. An example of this idea of the hero is
demonstrated particularly in the story of Beowulf. Beowulf exemplifies the ideas of an Anglo Saxon
society in the idea of paying a wergild, the value placed on a person s life. In addition to wergild there
is also defending one s people against their enemy, in this story, Grendel. The final way in which
Beowulf exemplifies a hero is through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While Anglo Saxons view fighting in war and defeating one s enemy as a great act, the greatest act for
them was being remembered for their deeds, particularly of successes in battle. Not wanting to be
forgotten when they passed from this world, was one of the Anglo Saxons greatest fears, but Beowulf
accomplished being remembered. Already well known for his strength before he defeated Grendel, it
is said, Beowulf s doings were praised over and over again. Nowhere, they said, north or south
between the two seas or under the tall sky on the broad earth was there anyone better to raise a shield
or rule a kingdom (Heaney 57). Beowulf was already well known for his deeds throughout the land,
not just in battle, but in ruling a kingdom. While in addition to his great deeds being remembered,
when he dies, his people began to construct a mound on a headland, high and imposing, a marker that
sailors could see from far away (Heaney 213). This would be another symbol of immortality as the
memorial would lead sailors to the land of the Geats and would see his memorial, reminding people of
who he was and what he had done. Being remembered was something that was important to the Anglo
Saxons, especially the wealthy as they could pay poets to write ballads and poems about them. This
unfortunately was not the case for the spoor farmers, known as churls, of the Anglo Saxons who

1) Waterfall
a) Generally, waterfalls are unique structures in terms of environmental factors since they create their
own ecosystems. Waterfalls also create local winds due to falling water and house species of special
plants that can only grow behind the waterfall in a specific microclimate and with certain levels of
moisture. Waterfalls have a unique ecology and many organisms and animals choose to reproduce
behind waterfalls because they provide a barrier of protection from predators. The group observed

Magazine Advertising And Gender Stereotypes
My thought process when collecting my magazine ads was that I wanted to showcase the various age
groups of each gender. Many magazines have a specific audience in mind meaning that magazines
aimed towards a young teen would not be as explicit as a magazine aimed towards a grown woman
even though they might both contain the same message. I collected samples from three prominent
magazines for females: J 14 (age range 8 14), Seventeen (age range 10 21), and Cosmopolitan (age
range 18 34). I also repeated the process and collected samples from magazines aimed at males: Sports
Illustrated for Kids (age range 8 15) and ESPN (age range 15+). I collected four ads per female
magazine and three ads per male magazine for a total of twenty ads. Each magazine that I used was
from 2016 in order to ensure that the ads were relevant because of how gender roles have changed
over time. The limitations for my sample include the fact that not all magazines aimed towards
females are strictly about beauty and fashion. There are many other types of magazines that appeal to
women such as cooking, health, and décor. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

men are perceived as needing to assert their dominance over other

Reflection On The Narcotic Anonymous (NA) Meeting
The Narcotic Anonymous (NA) meeting was interesting. I went to Kaiser Permanente in Stockton on
Monday at 7:15 p.m. The NA group is called the NA Uncut. It was a book study meeting. My first
impression of the NA meeting was a room filled with a mixture of drug addicts and family
participants. In the beginning, I was a nervous and shy talking to one of the drug addicts. I was afraid I
might offend someone or the person may not want me to interview the person. However, it was
different than I expected. I learn a new perspective about drug addicts. In the NA meeting, there were
only two drug addicts in the room excluding myself and my two sisters who I brought along. I
interviewed both drug addicts. The first addict was a 51 year old Caucasian

  • 2. The Importance Of Security In School Security Identification and exploration of need I aim to design a simple system to implement into the schools existing security as at the moment it is very easy for people to enter and exit the school both in and out of school hours. Also with incidents involving the school poorly set up security system makes more of a need for an update the current one.Although it is a bad thing be so open it also does have the benefit of allowing staff and students to leave when allowed but also allowing them to leave without permission.Having a stricter system may slow down the process of people exiting and entering the school legitimately Areas of investigation Areas i believe need to be investigated How often staff or students leave the school with permission within school hours ? Is it a danger not having it ? Consideration of design factors Criteria to evaluate success The success of this design will be assessed from the function and ergonomics of this design as it needs to function and solve the problem of the lack of security currently, yet whilst stricting the security make sure people that are trying to leave and enter the school properly can do so.Meaning that the system will be deemed successful if it is aesthetically pleasing and welcoming to students and and the community yet have a distinct look that will deter unwanted people. Also it will need to perform the the task of keeping people inside the school safe and the schools property safe as well Time and action plan Term 2 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Captain James Cook Essay Captain James Cook was an English seaman who lived in the eighteenth century. He was one of the world s greatest explorers. Between 1768 and l779, he made three great voyages of exploration to the Pacific Ocean. The purpose of these voyages was to get information about lands already known and to discover new lands. Captain Cook s first voyage began in August of 1768. On this voyage, he had only one ship with a crew of 94 seamen. He sailed south from England across the Atlantic Ocean and around the tip of South America. Then, he sailed west into the Pacific Ocean. Eventually, he discovered the large islands of New Zealand and drew maps of their coasts. Then, he continued west until he came to the east coast of Australia. He found this coast to be fertile, a fact which was not known in Europe at that time. He returned to England in July of 1771. In the next year, Captain Cook began his second voyage of exploration. On this voyage, he had two ships and about 200 seamen. The purpose of this voyage was to try to discover if there was a continent other than Australia in the South pacific. Re sailed from England in July of 1772. When he reached the South Pacific, he turned directly south into the cold Antarctic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dizzy always had strong lungs, so it was easy for him to play wind instruments. In a short time, Dizzy became very good at playing both the trumpet and the trombone. He never had a teacher or an actual lesson. By the time he was 13 years old, Dizzy became so good at the trumpet that he received a free scholarship to study at a big music ... • 5. A Brief Note On The American Nurses Association autonomy. The American Nurses Association gives a comprehensive list of responsibilities that are to be carried out by a registered nurse. It includes performance of physical examinations, taking health histories, providing health promotion, counseling and education, administering medications, wound care and numerous other personalized interventions, interpreting the patient information and making critical decisions about needed actions, coordination of care in collaboration with a wide array of healthcare professionals, directing and supervising care delivered by other healthcare personnel such as the nursing aides and also to conduct research in support of improved practice and patient outcomes (ANA, Accessed on 8/1/2016). The extent to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The third step is planning and this involves the development of goals and outcomes whereby a plan of care is designed to help assist the patient to achieve the goals by resolving the identified diagnosis. Implementation involves translation of the plan to action. The final step which is the evaluation involves the determination of the extent to which the outcomes have been achieved or not. According to NANDA International, Inc. (formerly the acronym to North American Nursing Diagnosis Association) medical diagnosis deals with disease or medical conditions. However nursing diagnosis deals with the human response to actual or potential health problems and life processes. This has been elucidated with an example that points to the differences in how a doctor and a nurse would approach the same health condition. The medical diagnosis of cerebrovascular attack (stroke) would provide one with the information about the patient s pathology. When we look at the complimentary nursing diagnoses such as impaired verbal communication, risk for falls, interrupted family processes and powerlessness, they provide with a more holistic understanding of the impact of that stroke on this particular patient and his family. Thus it also direct nursing interventions to obtain patient specific outcomes (NANDA International n.d.). 2.3 Nursing as a Profession Professional status is an important ... The average American may think their favorite musicians are rolling dough and not realize that for the past hundred and fourteen years the American Federation of Musicians, aka AFM, has worked to improve the professional lives of musicians across North America. Though the union lost its battle to stop Congress from the passing the 18th Amendment and the Cabaret Tax in 1918, they were successful the following year in arranging easier access for musicians traveling between the US and Canada and they were able to reduce the number of foreign musicians, willing to work for poor wages, who were allowed to enter the US. While the union still actively worked for the rights of musicians in the 1920 s their next major victory didn t come until 1935 when they were able to secure assistance for unemployed musicians through the government s Works Projects Administration. From that time on the union fought tirelessly to establish minimum wages for all musicians, to have the cabaret tax repealed (accomplished in 1966), to reach an agreement with the motion picture industry (accomplished in 1952), and ... • 7. Deep Sea Vents Essay Furthermore, the deep sea vent hypothesis aims to explain the origin of life on Earth. (i fixed bc awk) Deep undersea vents are often hosts to rich microbial communities. In Hydrothermal vents and the origin of life, William Martin, John Baross, Deborah Kelley, and Michael J. Russel (2008, p.805) note, the presence of H2 and CO2 near hydrothermal vent systems and surrounding prokaryotic autotrophs may hold clues for the chemistry of the origin of life. The environment of hydrothermal vents are reminiscent of an early Earth with 360o Celsius sulphide chimneys, a mixture of reactive gases and dissolved elements, along with both thermal and chemical gradients (Martin et al., 2008, p.805). There are two types of deep sea vents: a new classification discovered with carbonate chimneys, later dubbed the Lost City Hydrothermal Field (LCHF) and black smokers (Martin et al., 2008, p.805). The LCHF is off axis, meaning when the sea floor began to spread, the field s vents formed irregular to other black smoker deep sea vents (Martin et al., 2008, p.805 06). As a result of being off axis, near its spreading zone, the LCHF is exposed to heat from the mantle and possibly other chemical reactions take place (Martin et al., 2008, p.806). These chemical reactions result in high magnesium and iron deposits around the LCHF, creating a high alkaline level (pH 9 11) (Martin et al., 2008, p.806). • 10. Causes And Consequences Of Premature Birth Essay Introduction Babies born before thirty seven weeks gestation are considered to be preterm, or premature. More than one in every ten babies is born too early. Preterm birth complications are the leading cause of death among children under five years of age. Premature birth has a wide range of effects. All babies born before thirty seven weeks gestation are at risk for complications that can have a lasting effect on the growing baby and family. At twenty four weeks, the survival rate of a premature baby is only fifty percent. The many different causes and effects that premature birth can have on the baby, his/her future development and family will be further discussed in this paper. At birth a baby is considered one of the following: Premature (less than thirty seven weeks gestation), Full term (thirty seven to forty two weeks gestation), Post term (born after forty two weeks gestation) (Kaneshiro). A premature baby is not fully developed due to exiting the womb prior to reaching full term. Due to this complication, premies will spend time in the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) if the doctor deems it necessary. A baby born at full term weighs somewhere between five pounds eight ounces and eight pound thirteen ounces. A baby born at thirty two weeks weighs somewhere around three and a half pounds, twenty eight weeks two and a half pounds, and twenty four weeks one and a half pounds. However, many of those people develop coping mechanisms to deal with its effects on their everyday life as well as their overall mentality. Whether it be courageous or cowardly, they will use whatever they can to help deal with the pain that has come upon them. J.D Salinger, author of The Catcher in the Rye, and Holden Caulfield, an unstable teenager constantly being kicked out of school after school, have both suffered through traumatic events in their lives which had affected them later along the road. In an interview with David Shields and Shane Salerno on their biography, Salinger, they spoke of Salinger serving as a soldier in World War II, and how he was believed to be working on The Catcher in the Rye during the war. They also suggest that to him, working on the novel at the time was, ...almost as a talisman to keep him alive... Shields and Salerno also add that when he was finished and ready to publish, he struggled even further. One of the publishers he approached to get his work published hurt him deeply, which even could have even caused even more reason to Salinger s later actions. After he had published the novel, he did not expect as much fame as he received and soon became overwhelmed. This fame is what caused his later isolation from the rest of the world, success he had seemingly craved early in life became something he ran away from once it came (Biography.com). Iran Essay Iran and the IAEA s Earlier Attempts Following the discovery of the undeclared construction of a large underground nuclear related facility in Natanz and the existence of highly enriched uranium in 2002, the Iranian nuclear crisis began in full force. The following summer, the then director of the IAEA, Mohamed ElBaradei, presented a report to the IAEA Board of Governors in which failures and breaches of safeguards by Iran were cited without ambiguity and additional inspections were recommended (Mousavin 66). In February 2006, Iran was referred to the S.C. by the IAEA Board of Governors and in June, China, Russia and the U.S. joined the E3 to form the P5+1. In response, Iran announced that they would resume uranium enrichment activities and end implementation of the Additional Protocol ( Iran 1). Before advancing further, it is necessary to analyze the events of 2003 2005 to understand the role of the IAEA during this period and why such broad international assistance was needed to achieve the slightest of results. After receiving the Board of Director s resolution of September 2003, Iran immediately questioned its authority as it was outside of the Safeguards Agreements and Additional Protocol. Iran believed the resolution and request for cooperation had no legal base and would be accepted not as an international obligation but as a gesture of goodwill and a confidence building measure (Mousavin 74). Destruction Of Rwanda Between the 1870s and 1900, much of Africa was scavenged at the hands of Europeans, divvied up between Britain, France, Germany, Belgium, Italy, Portugal, and Spain without much regard to the people who actually inhabited the continent [Fouberg et al, Iweriebor]. From this, Rwanda arose as an entity, as part of German East Africa, after the League of Nations mandate of Belgium following World War I. Rwanda is located inland on the African continent, just below the equator, and surrounded by Congo, Burundi, Tanzania, and Uganda (as seen in the map on page 3). • 14. The Characteristics Of Psychopaths In Pop Culture Psychopaths are prevalent in almost every aspect of life. They are at school, in the office, and at the grocery store. People view psychopaths as socially removed and isolated, but many with psychopathic traits lead normal lives with their own quirks. Functional psychopathy has become more and more normalized, as it has been featured in different aspects of pop culture. Many people hope to break the stereotype associated with psychopathy in order for society to become more inclusive of mental disorders, and also to educate more people about psychopathic behavior through popular shows and movies. One example of a functional yet quirky psychopath in pop culture is Dwight Schrute from The Office. The Office is set at the Dunder Mifflin Paper Company, in Scranton, Pennsylvania, with Michael Scott managing the staff. Also called an office mockumentary, the series follows the shenanigans, strange happenings, and hysterical moments that take place in the office at Dunder Mifflin. Viewers love to see how different each of the characters are, and how often their differences get them into trouble. Dwight is perhaps the most dedicated and hardworking member of the staff, as he is the leading salesman. Many of his co workers enjoy teasing him, and while this is funny to viewers of the show, it causes Dwight to get himself into trouble and make himself appear annoying to others in the office. Capital Leases and Operating Leases Essay ACCT 3303 | CAPITAL LEASE vs. OPERATING LEASE | | Dr. Serge Ryno ACCT 3303 December 2, 2011 Capital Lease vs. Operating Lease Firms often choose to lease long term assets rather than buy them for a variety of reasons including the tax benefits that are greater to the lessor than the lessees and leases offer more flexibility in terms of adjusting to changes in technology and capacity needs. Lease payments create the same kind of obligation that interest payments on debt create, and have to be viewed in a similar light. If a firm is allowed to lease a significant portion of its assets and keep it off its financial statements, an examination of the statements will give a very misleading view of the company s financial strength. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The better the financials look, the easier it is to get needed financing in the future. Since there is no ownership involved, operating leases offer a great deal of flexibility. For example, a small business doesn t need to worry about equipment becoming obsolete. A company can simply lease newer equipment. The ability to directly expense leasing costs provides some accounting benefit. When a company owns an asset, accounting rules dictate that the property, plant or equipment must be depreciated and held on the balance sheet for the asset s useful life. In effect, this ties up the company s cash flow and leverages the company to financiers. Operating leases are not subject to these constraints. One disadvantage of entering an operating lease involves the higher level of expenses reported. Businesses who enter operating leases record a lease expense for each period throughout the duration of the lease. These expenses appear on the company s income statement. The income statement reports the revenues earned for the period, the expenses incurred and the net income for the period. Operating leases represent temporary arrangements between the lessor and the company. When the lease expires, the terms of that lease become void. The lessor and the company spend time renegotiating the terms or ending the relationship. The company needs to reconsider the lease and evaluate its options on a regular basis. If asked what democracy is, many would claim that it is a government by the people a phrase popularized by Abraham Lincoln in his Gettysburg Address. However, in today s society, there are three prominent theories pluralism, elitism, and hyperpluralism that attempt to explain who exactly has the power and influence in the United States of America. Each theory is centralized based on their own ideals and conclusions about who truly governs the nation. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It takes into consideration the components of pluralism and elitism. Hyperpluralism is defined as the idea that competing interests groups have gotten too powerful making it impossible to accomplishing anything. This can result to muddled policy and policy gridlock due to the fact that some politicians will try to placate every group. Hyperpluralists assert that groups are the sovereign with the government their mere servant as powerful groups let their money and power do the talking. In this theory, average citizens are able to take part in policymaking by joining interest groups like in pluralism. However, it is taken to another level in this theory as interest groups that lose policymaking battles in Congress carry their agenda to the court. These groups and their members take advantage of the court system to get what they want and to bend policies to suit their own purposes. On the other hand, the Framers would not have expected for interest groups to gain that much power over the government, let alone use the judicial system for their own purposes. At that time, the Framers probably looked down on average citizens as they were illiterate, though I think that they would have been tolerant of groups whose members were wealthy and white. Positioned at the upper opening of the larynx are two mucous membranes that make up the vocal folds or glottis. The significant amount of sugar present in honey is what raises pressure to draw any leakage out of enlarged cells. The antibacterial property of honey was first recognized in 1892 by Van Ketel. This is supposed to protect them from receiving longer sentences, and harsh punishments, which is the opposite of adult courts. Also, the Juvenile Justice System is supposed to help rehabilitate the juvenile. Luckily, for juveniles, the court had recognized that even homicide does not warrant a mandatory life sentence without the possibility of parole if the offender is less than 18 years old at the time of the crime (Holt p.1395). However, in Nevada, Mississippi, and Utah, lawmakers now leave it up to the juvenile courts to decide whether to transfer a juvenile to adult court (Brown p. 21). • 35. Rejection From Society In The Loons, By Margaret Laurence Essay Rejection from society, forces an individual to alter their identity in order to be accepted by the people around them. Many First Nations are viewed as outsiders, bringing a lot of racism toward them. In The Loons by Margaret Laurence, Piquette is a Metis girl who is isolated from society and does not fit in with her surroundings. This leads to her rejecting her personal identity as First Nations, trying to fit in with societal norm. Piquette begins to assimilate into the culture around her and become things that she is not. However, she becomes soon becomes unsatisfied with her artificial identity and depressed in life, blocking out everyone around her. Through The Loons, Laurence demonstrates that when an individual is isolated from society, it becomes difficult for them to integrate into the culture around them without changing themselves. Initially, Piquette is viewed as an outsider by society when she accepts her personal identity as Metis. When Piquette is invited by Ewen to his summer cabin, Vanessa falsely believes that Piquette must be in some way a daughter of the forest, a kind of junior prophetess of the wilds, who might impart to me. If I took the right approach, some of the secrets which she undoubtedly knew where the whippoorwill made her nest, how the coyote reared her young, or whatever it was that it said in Hiawatha (112). Piquette and many other First Nations have been stereotyped and misinterpreted for so long that society labels them with certain traits. When Ewen proposes that Piquette come to the family s summer cabin, it is immediately rejected by Vanessa s grandmother saying if that half breed youngster comes along to Diamond Lake, I m not going (110). The Metis are not accepted by the majority of society, making it difficult for them to feel like they fit in and are appreciated throughout the community. This creates a divide between society and the Metis and other First Nations groups. Vanessa s warped views and perspectives about First Nations illustrate how the majority of society views Aboriginal people. After being rejected for her Metis identity, Piquette is forced to change in order to be accepted by the people around her. Four years later, Vanessa ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Spade proposes a critical trans politics that is superior to the equal rights efforts of gay and lesbian activists up to this point in United States history. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This drastically reduces the life chances of poor people, queer and trans people, immigrants, and people of color. In practice, every law system and mainstream law reform effort has attempted to assign people and groups of people into two categories: who is worthy of a chance at a good life, and who is not. Spade s proposal of a critical trans politics creates a system in which life chances are redistributed in a way that gives marginalized groups the opportunity to survive and succeed. Within the United States government en masse, there are many legal systems that contribute to the uneven distribution of life chances and thus require dismantling and radical reconstruction. These include the criminal justice system, the education system, the prison system (also called the prison industrial complex), the social welfare system, the immigration system, the housing system, the healthcare system, and the U.S. military. Each of these legal and political systems in some way targets a specific population within the United States, very often transgender and gender variant people, and directly reduces that population s life chances. This is the issue that Spade seeks to amend when he proposes the move toward a critical trans politics. INTRODUCTION The most drastic influences of human modifications result from urbanisation, a progression characterised by human disturbance, buildings and other artificial infrastructure (Hahs and McDonnell 2006). Such modifications have significant effects on biodiversity, often with little thought being given to the long term effects and ways of mitigating them. In most cases, human alteration of the environment has reduced biological diversity by replacing the native flora with new ecological spaces. However, urbanization, especially in suburbia, can introduce many new resources (McDonnell and Pickett 1990; Pickett et al. 2001) which coexist with the natural biota and increases diversity of avifauna in semi urban environments. Whilst doing my case study, I noticed that the patients that I interviewed had experienced some work related issues. Also, the influenza patient mentioned that they had to take some time off work in order not to expose their colleagues to the influenza virus. Towards the ending of the month, they found that their income was affected by the time off and said they would have to work harder when they returned to catch up. From this, it is clear that work related issues can affect individuals negatively, however some issues related to work can affect health care professionals too. The work force can be affected by work related issues. If a particular organization is under staffed (e.g. a hospital), they will be more dependent on agency workers. How can the American veterans be better taken care of? I will focus on the following four specific issues that are in need of reform, 1. How can wait times be decreased for veterans seeking mental health treatment? 2. How can the stigma attached to PTSD in veterans be eliminated? 3. How can veterans receive immediate assistance in times of crisis? 4. How can we ensure that diagnosed PTSD veterans will continue treatment after receiving full monetary compensation? Focusing on these research questions, I propose to conduct research on decreasing wait times for PTSD related appointments, reducing, or eliminating, the stigma attached to PTSD in veterans, providing a way for veterans to receive immediate PTSD crisis help, and a way to ensure that veterans diagnosed with PTSD continue treatment. Veterans often experience long wait times to schedule an appointment for PTSD. There are several reasons which shows that single sex schools are important and why it s the best way for good education. The first reason is that boys and girls are not equal and develop at different times and speeds; therefore they should be taught separately. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The second reason why single sex schools are the way to go is that boys and girls distract each other from their education, especially in adolescence as their sexual and emotional sides develop. They spend too much time trying to impress or sexually harassing each other especially boys toward girls. Academic competition between the sexes is unhealthy and only adds to the unhappiness and anxiety among weaker students. As Trichia Kelleher, a school principle, argues rather than girls defining themselves by their interests, they define themselves by what the boys think of them or what other girls think boys think of them . Furthermore, John Silber (2002), President of Boston University, declared that his university would prioritize male applications in order to even up the student composition and ensure the male population did not become ungentlemanly towards women due to their numerical inferiority. John as a preident of Boston saw how females can be a sexual distraction towarad males in class rooms and tried to slove that by admitting more males to the university. A single sex environment is therefore a space where (children) can learn without feeling pressurized by the other sex. Another way in which all stories, share something in common is the idea of a hero and his deeds. An example of this idea of the hero is demonstrated particularly in the story of Beowulf. While Anglo Saxons view fighting in war and defeating one s enemy as a great act, the greatest act for them was being remembered for their deeds, particularly of successes in battle. Already well known for his strength before he defeated Grendel, it is said, Beowulf s doings were praised over and over again. Nowhere, they said, north or south between the two seas or under the tall sky on the broad earth was there anyone better to raise a shield or rule a kingdom (Heaney 57). Beowulf was already well known for his deeds throughout the land, not just in battle, but in ruling a kingdom. While in addition to his great deeds being remembered, when he dies, his people began to construct a mound on a headland, high and imposing, a marker that sailors could see from far away (Heaney 213). This would be another symbol of immortality as the memorial would lead sailors to the land of the Geats and would see his memorial, reminding people of who he was and what he had done.
