Helen Of Troy, By Margaret Atwood
Unlike the many versions of Helen of Troy, in Margaret Atwood s The Penelopiad, she paints the
infamous woman as imperfect, as a siren, a goddess, a murderer. By making the reader see Helen
through Penelope s eyes, new layers are added to this character so often sought after. Helen and
Penelope s dynamic adds a layer to not only The Penelopiad, but also to the male dominated Odyssey.
These factors create a dynamic feminine force, and both women are in multiple ways a foil to one
another. Many of Penelope s insecurities comes from her own view of herself and the way her
experiences have shaped her. At the very beginning of the novel she says Hadn t I been faithful? Hadn
t I waited, and waited, and waited, despite the temptation almost the compulsion to do otherwise? And
what did I amount to, once the official version gained ground? An edifying legend. A stick used to
beat other women with (Pg. 2, The Penelopiad). Penelope already has immense difficulty with herself
and her identity. It is an interesting dichotomy. In one way Penelope wants to be like Helen because
she doesn t have the status of a legendary faithful wife. However, she is forgetting that Helen does
have her own legendary status, one that Penelope sometimes longs for, but is most likely
unsatisfactory in its own way. One of Penelope s biggest jealousies for Helen is the amount of power
she has over all she encounters, in life and death. When Penelope first settles into her new life she
states ...there was

What Is The Theme Of Not Without My Daughter By Betty...
The novel Not Without My Daughter is a book by Betty Mahmoody which gives us an insight into the
hard and tainted life the author herself went through being a wife and mother in a stringent patriarchal
society in which a woman is reprimanded and punished for having a voice. The social experiences,
where two societies meet and unite in the ties of marriage are delineated in various scholarly works.
One such work which concentrates on the social experiences in connection to marriage is the book
Not Without My Daughter by Betty Mahmoody. The hero of the story, Betty Mahmoody, a Christian
lady having a place with the Western society gets hitched to Sayyed Bozorg Mahmoody, an Iranian
specialist practicing medicine in America. The Western society ... Show more content on

At the point when a person fitting in with a Western society weds a person who has experienced
childhood in Islamic society, both the people try to adjust to each other s culture. Case in point in the
book Not Without My Daughter, Betty who was brought up in Western society tries to absorb into the
way of life of her Iranian spouse. She goes with her spouse to Iran to spend a two week excursion
there. As she is mindful of the way that a lady is required to cover her head in Iran, she utilizes a scarf
to cover her head even before coming to Iran. She likewise permits her little girl to be named Mahtob,
which was an Iranian name. Through these endeavors, Betty tries to turn into a piece of the way of life
to which her spouse had a place. Betty s marriage was a union of Western society and Islamic society.
Albeit there were numerous distinctions in the way of life of Betty and her spouse Moody, they lived
agreeably after their marriage. Living in America, Betty and Moody drove an upbeat and placated
wedded life. In a marriage where the life partners fit in with diverse societies, it is critical that every
mate adjusts and comprehend the way of life of other companion. In a house where two societies exist,
the kids are raised in a social domain which is affected by the way of life of the mother and father. The
conduct and thinking about the youngsters show the impact of both the way of life. The meeting of
two societies in a marriage has beneficial outcomes and negative impacts. It relies on the life partners
whether they change over their marriage into concordant union of two societies or clashing meeting of

The Performance Of Classical Music
Classical music has been played in many different venues, with many different instruments, in many
different time periods so it is very interesting to compare all of the performances. The performance I
went was definitely very different from how the music would ve been played when the composers first
wrote them. The 200 year difference allows me to explore all of the unique aspects that both the first
performance and my current performance added to the experience that classical music concerts.
Although concerts of the 1800s and 2000s differ because of venue, musician popularity, and finances,
they have similarities in style, audience reaction and musician interpretation.
The concert I went to was part of a non profit organization called ... Show more content on

When looking through many different volumes of the publication The Musical Times and Singing
Class Circular I was able to read about the most recent concerts that happened within the month that
the journal came out.5 Composers who were around during that time had some of their first
performances of pieces published as well as people like Mozart and Beethoven were having their
pieces played by famous musicians of the time.15 Classical music was the most popular played back
then so they did not need a non profit organization to start a concert series to expose people to the
music instead they needed a journal to inform the public when the shows and write reviews for all the
new music being played.
In the nineteenth century, composers and musicians were treated like the pop stars of the twenty first
century are treated today. They only play at large venues with many people watching and they get the
VIP treatment before after and during their performance.4 Sadly, however, the venue I went to and the
way the musicians were treated was much more casual it can almost be compared to the open mic
night of today. The venue was a small church and there were only two musicians, a cellist and a
pianist. People were able to sit right next to the cellist since his seat was in the middle of the isle. After
the show, they were able to interact with the guests who came to the

In Ancient Egypt, stelas are either stone or wooden slabs...
In Ancient Egypt, stelas are either stone or wooden slabs used as a means of presenting a monument,
usually for funerary purposes. They were also used as markers between territories. Stelas usually
feature some sort of decoration and are carved in relief, either raised or sunken. Paint also was
incorporated in some of these stelas and often featured hieroglyphics detailing the scene. In Egypt
these stelas were primarily used as funerary ornaments, very much resembling tombstones. Looking
from the first dynasty on, stelas changed throughout the dynasties in Egypt including their shapes,
kind of decorations, and their inscriptions. Initially used as tombstones, these stelas were placed
outside of the tombs to name the tomb owner and acted ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Historians suggest that these stelas might have been placed on the outside of funerary complex while
others suggest that they may have been used to roof the structure. Although many theories exist, it is
pretty much commonly agreed that these stelas did not exist within the tombs walls during this time.
Abydos becomes an important location during Ancient Egyptian history. The end of the Old Kingdom
saw the city of Abydos as the center for Osiris. We see Abydos becoming the destination for
pilgrimages and the site for annual festivities. Looking specifically at the stelas at Abydos we see that
they are smaller in size and lack the artistic preciseness we see in later funerary complexes. The stelas
at Abydos were set up in pairs though and do not feature the rounded top that we identify with the first
and second dynasties. These stelas depict the tomb owner and are inscribed with their title and name.
Looking at the funerary stela located in the Metropolitan Museum of art dated between the first and
fourth century is composed of limestone and found at Abydos. Anubis is depicted as she presents the
deceased to the enthroned Osiris (MET). Also depicted is the mourning goddesses Isis and Nephthys,
both very crudely executed and are merely silhouetted forms with oversized heads. This exaggeration
of form is suggested to represent the impact of the subject

Rituals Are An Important Aspect Of Human Interaction And...
Rituals are an important aspect of human interaction and society, and they provide a link and support
to those around us. Rituals make us self aware of our emotional state and provide spiritual refuge
when we need it. They are the vessel through which we can become closer to our gods or deities; they
are sanctuaries in time of need, distractions from the overwhelming feeling of dealing with life and its
troubles, they are the pillars of faith that keep us intact. Without them, we would be a very distant and
disconnected society. The ritual I have chosen to discuss is one that particularly caught my attention,
including the many variations of it as well the Buddhist Fire Ritual, or Homa (goma). The purpose of
this ritual is to get rid of negative energies and to cleanse the mind and spirit, and involves the beating
of drums, chanting of mantras, and of course, fire. Variations of this ritual depend on the occasion, but
they all include the burning of the fire, invoking higher powers, and reciting said mantras. As part of
my research on this ritual, I looked up a YouTube video on it and found it to be very interesting. The
one I watched of this ritual being performed took place in a small, dimly lit room, mainly lit up with
ceremonial candles, holding few people and two Buddhist priests. One was chanting the mantras,
beating a Taiko drum, and shaking bells while the other did the work with the fire and the main aspect
of the ritual. After distributing what was

The Python Of The Kingdom Animalia
Topic 1: Context
By Selah Green
Topic 1A) The Python of the Kingdom Animalia, Phylum Chordata, Class Reptilia, Order Squamata,
Family Phythonidae is vertebrate with several diverse species (spp.) (Banks, 2004).
Topic 1B) The Python spp. is classified with Kingdom Animalia because they re heterotrophs and
exhibit motility. The Python spp. descendent from a chordata because they have a spine and backbone
developed from the notochord and dorsal nerve cord. The Python spp. is cold blooded species and
covered in scales. They have embryos or eggs that are covered by an amniotic membrane. All
phylogenetics are consistent with their relationship to lizards around 150 million years ago in the late
Jurassic Period (Strauss, 2016).
Topic 1C) There are different species of Pythons so their environments vary. The P. molurus bivittatus
inhabit Southeast Asia in jungles and grassy marshes (Society, 2014). The P. regius lives in Africa
adapting into farmland or grassland savannah. Most Python spp. are native to parts of Asia and Africa
(Gorzula, 1997). Some of the Python spp. swim and water features are important to their environment
such as the P. bivittatus. Juvenile P. bivittatus spent most of the time inhabiting trees but as adults, they
increase in size and weight will shift their habitat to the ground (Society, 2014). P. anchietae inhabits
rocks on mountain terrains and plains with shrubs (M.A, 2010).

Human Anatomy Based On Dissection
Art is word that most individuals have an idea, a mental category, of yet often fail to truly define. This
is due to the fact that art is a term that has existed for thousands of years and thus its meaning and
lexicography has changed drastically over the years based on endless factors. Art started off being
defined as a craft, measured by the technical prowess of the artist and used as tool in the retelling of
history or for religious practices and doctrine. From there, it evolved into a practice of replication,
attempting to create the most realistic of images, particularly around the time of the renaissance, with
the invention of linear perspective and a growing understanding of human anatomy based on
dissection. In the renaissance, the more technically capable an artist is in recreating life, the more
talented he is seen to be. However, movements like impressionism, a reaction to the invention of
photography, now aimed for, not realism, but the capturing of the impression of the image, using
colour and broad brushstrokes, giving pieces an unfinished look. Symbolism and expressionism aimed
for a less literal view of the world. In reaction to freud s interpretation of dreams, surrealism aimed to
explore the creative potential of the human psyche, while the modernist movement resulted in art that
can be as simple as painting squares on a canvas or signing your name on a urinal. A giant rock,
misplaced, is now recognized as art. Erecting a giant curtain on a piece of land

My Struggle For Independence Growing Up Of A First...
It is with great honour to share the tale of my struggle for independence growing up in a first
generation home. To begin, I shall introduce you to my family. Firstly, my parents had three children
together, all two years apart, me being the youngest. Both of my parents had high school diplomas,
however were unsuccessful in earning a well supporting, paying job. My mom worked in an office as
a clerk; although once she got pregnant she stayed at home to take care of the young children.
However, once our budget started to become tight, my mom had to start working again. Unfortunately,
my mom s old position was filled by an individual with post secondary experience. Eventually, she
obtained a position once a week as a cashier at a local ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fights and arguments that my parents had would rub off on the children making life very difficult.
My parents would fight so constantly that they could no longer keep their marriage happy causing
them to file for a divorce. This was the hardest time in my life. When my parents got the divorce I
went from barely seeing my own father from working long hours to barely seeing my own mother,
who had to pick up full time work as a cashier. Eventually, my dad went to live with his parents which
resulting in me rarely seeing him. I knew I had to help out because my mother was now single, taking
care of three kids. My mom would work three jobs trying to pay for lawyer fees for the divorce, pay
bills, and take care of three young children. After seeing endless days and nights of my mom crying
over finances, I promised to her life was going to be different.
I developed a sense of determination to gain an education and pay for my own tuition. The struggle of
coming from a first generation family has definitely opened my eyes to the harsh reality of life without
post secondary experience. My ambition to help began when I was eight. The job only paid eighty
dollars a month, which I split with my brother, leaving me with only forty dollars. Eventually, when I
was fourteen, I got my first real paying job at Tim Horton s working weekends while still studying

Low Status And Expectations Of Women In The Erl-King, By...
The low status and expectations given to women through the dawn of time, allowed them to grow out
of their cage and improve their social standing. For a very long time men have seen women as fragile
possessions whose only use is for farming and housekeeping. Destined to being seen as possession to
men, women have struggled to become independent and live their own lives since long ago. In The Erl
king, by Angela Carter, the protagonist is the perfect example of a woman who escaped from her
destiny of being enslaved by the man she once loved.
Men s dominance over women could be traced down to the beginning of time. In The Erl king for
example, the protagonist is imprisoned alongside other women who were also charmed by the Erl
king. Although

The Dichotomy Of Wei-Tung s The Wedding Banquet
The Wedding Banquet mightily explores the dichotomy between Wei Tung s parent s traditional Asian
mindset and his way of thinking that ultimately causes them to come into conflicts due to a clash in
tradition. His parents esteemed conformity and precedence while he commanded personal freedom
regarding his sexual orientation. Just as Wei Tung believed that he has lived a life that is entirely
pleasing, he received a phone call with mounting urgency by his parents to marry a Chinese girl and
present them with a grandchild. Wei Tung could not bring himself to inform his parents that he is gay,

It is widely seen as a pillar of Chinese family structure. It is defined as a virtue of respect and
obedience for one s parents and elders. In the traditional Chinese culture, bearing children is not only
for the sake of the couple. Presenting a grandchild to one s parents is believed to be a vital family duty
that every child should be able to accomplish. While Wei Tung was certainly respectful of his parents
and was constantly looking after their health and well being while they were in New York, he was
undeniably disinclined to sacrifice his relationship with Simon in order to satisfy his parents craving
for a grandchild. As his parents traditional views locked horn with Wei Tung s reluctance to cave in,
something got to give and an accidental pregnancy by Wei Wei turned the tide into the parents favor,
although this was ultimately the key to Wei Tung reconciling the whole conflicts. At the end of the
day, the movie aptly brings to light the conflict of tradition, motivated by the idea of filial piety,

Between the World and Me Between the World and Me examines the history and present
circumstances of racial inequality and segregation in America. Coates directs the book to Samori to
give his audience personal insight into the various stages of a black man s life. From his childhood, to
his college experience, to his complicated role as a father, Coates gradually unfolds a critical account
of the relationship between black and white communities. He calls those who believe themselves to be
white the Dreamers and criticizes them for the indifference toward black people s experiences. He
wants the audience to reflect upon themselves and realize that they are part of the problem. Coates
gives a subtle indication on how he is reaching out to the audience by writing this letter to his son. He
begins the letter by saying Son but he does not specify who his son until halfway through the book
where he finally tells the audience his name. Coates finally reveals his sons name to the readers by
saying, The struggle is in your name, Samori... (69) indicating that there is an indifference towards
black people he wants people to notice. When he first brings up Samori s name, it gives the audience a
sense of their relationship. However, he might have let the audience know who his son was late in the
book to indirectly direct what he was saying to the audience. Samori s late mentioning in the book also

Crossing The Border Argumentative Essay
America: land of the free and home of the brave. For generations children have been raised from a
young age to value these morals that the United States stands for. American values have long been
seen as the ray of hope for millions of people around the globe. Immigrants from every imaginable
culture flood to the United States each year, possessing only the tattered dreams of a better life. But do
we truly live up to this grand title we have claimed for hundreds of years? Instead of offering freedom
to all who seek it, we now cower behind false stereotypes and grant it only to those luck few who we
deem worthy. While unrestricted immigration into the United States is not probable, the proposed

It is true that uncontrolled immigration is not a possibility for the United States due to the limited
amount of resources available. The land, labor, and agriculture available to inhabitants of the country
are already sometimes in scarce quantity. Today, millions of hopeful individuals continue to flee to the
United States, both legally and illegally, in pursuit of a better life and to escape from their oppressive
home nations. According to Crossing the Border , written by Emily Barone, the total foreign born
population in the United States, in the year 2016, was 43.6 million people. Desperate to reach the
protection of the United States, immigrants may ignore the legal proceedings of receiving visas before

aliens that both enter and remain in the country. Prejudicial actions have been taken regarding the

Hyperkalemia is an Imbaland of Serum Potassium
Hyperkalemia is a common electrolyte imbalance characterized by elevated serum potassium.
Hyperkalemia is defined as serum potassium concentrations greater than 5.5 mmol/L (normal range is
3.5 to 5.0 mmol/L). In the body, ninety eight percent of potassium is intracellular, and the 2 % left is
extracellular which is needed for nerve conduction and muscle contraction. For this reason,
extracellular potassium concentration is tightly regulated through renal potassium excretion. Up to
90% of dietary intake of potassium is excreted by the kidney. As kidney function declines, the kidney
compensates and aldosterone levels increase in order to boost potassium excretion. However,
compensatory mechanisms may become overwhelmed, and result in hyperkalemia (Raymond Wazny,
2010). Potassium plays an important role in nerve and muscle function. As a result of this role,
abnormalities in serum potassium may trigger membrane excitability and considerable nerve, muscle
and cardiac dysfunction leading to ventricular arrhythmias and subsequently sudden cardiac death. It
is estimated that between 1% and 10% of patients admitted to a hospital experience hyperkalemia,
with a mortality rate of 1 per 1,000 (Raymond Wazny,2010).
Causes of Hyperkalemia Many causes of hyperkalemia are seen in clinical practice. The most typical
causes are: renal disease, and also the consumption of medications that predispose the patient to
hyperkalemia (Parham, W.; Mehdirad,

advances in medicine and health GDM is still prevalent among pregnant women, resulting in possible
complications to pregnancy such as, fetal distress, preterm delivery, low birth weight, as well as risk

Imperialism is when a policy of extending a country s power and influence through diplomacy or
military force. King Leopold II colonized the free state of Congo through imperialism. He brought
formal education systems into play. Within this new found education system they taught many
indigenous languages in the school that the government sponsored or paid for. Once the free state of

Horses are very intelligent animals they are fast learners with correct and consistent training. They are
able to figure out their own problems and work them out. Horses make associations with things that
happen. So if something bad occurs during a specific event that is what the horse is going to
remember. But if a reward is given the horse will think whatever bad thing happened in that event is
usual and the treat will take their mind off of it. When a horse has learned habituation the response to
a stimulus has decreased. This happens when the horse is confronting the same stimulus multiple
times and soon has gotten used to it and the response to it being there has decreased. When the horse
has learned association this is called conditioning. The horse realizes that this meant that . The horse
makes associations and connections with commands and cues. The first licks from a mare to a foal
horse are what is called imprinting. The licking from the mare stimulates a bond between the two
horses. But there is also an imprinting done by humans. Humans can give a good or bad imprint on the
foal which can later affect them growing up. If they are given a good imprint they are more likely to
do the things that humans need them to do later in life. For example the horse will accept being
saddled, rode with little to no resistance, and having muzzle clipped and ears handled. But a bad

The Theory Of Behavioral Finance
1. Introduction
Efficient market hypothesis had been a topic of significant interest to the academicians, practitioners
and the corporate executives for a long period. Under Eugene Fama s(1965) survey, it is reflected that
there is a turning point of the modern finance by efficient market hypothesis. However, there had been
a shift in the focus to the theory of behavioral finance (Shiller, 2003) recently. Behavioral finance is
the financial structure which supplements various parts of finance (Gallagher, 2003). It is the module
which supports and displays the behavior of the investment managers and assists in the overall process
of management. Therefore, behavioral finance is a unique art which is required to be selected in order
to understand the outcomes of interactions between the investment managers and the corporates.
Given this background, this essay examines how the behavioral finance has challenged the efficient
market hypothesis and the implications of behavioral finance for investment managers.
2. Definition and concept of efficient market hypothesis
According to Eugene Fama s (1970), with the rise in the information, there is rapid spreading of the
information which is immediately incorporated in the security prices. This is called the efficient
market hypothesis and it is associated with random walk theory. The random walk theory which
suggests the randomness of changes in a series of price forms the basis of efficient market hypothesis.
Thus, the

A Report On Mobile Technology
Mobility is no longer optional in today s world; most enterprises are adopting mobile first strategies to
provide real time information and interactivity to consumers or employees on the go. Enterprise
mobility has seen increased popularity in the last few years, bringing in with it the growing trend of
Bring your own device (BYOD). While BYOD has a host of merits like increased productivity, better
connectivity and less expenditure for enterprises, but there are security risks involved. This is where
mobile management comes into the picture. It is generally an administrative system and service that is
used to encrypt and lock the device, and enforce miscellaneous other BYOD policies. Schneider
Electric BYOD policy is implemented through Airwatch Mobile Device Management (MDM).
Although BYOD adoption is continuously increasing, only 1 percent of Schneider Electric employees
have opted for BYOD enrollment on their personal mobile devices until now. The major factors
contributing to low adoption of BYOD are the concerns and uncertainties around user activity
tracking, logging and potential loss or leakage of personal data. Moreover, the current BYOD
deployment does not support a large variety of popular mobile devices. Due to this, the adoption and
usage of mobile applications via the Internal App Store is also quite low. However, the current BYOD
program is geared towards addressing the enterprise data security concerns, which obviously has
merits, and cannot be overlooked

Christian Science Research Papers
Cristian Science Christian Science is an ongoing religious cult that was started in the early nineteenth
century. Mary Baker Eddy was the original founder who started the idea in the United States during
1879. After a thirty five year revision period, she finished the Christian Science textbook, Science and
Health with Key to the Scriptures. The textbook was finally published in 1875, which stated all the
beliefs of Christian Science. Some of the beliefs include the tenets of Christian Science. Each tenet
explains what a Christian Scientist believes about God, the Bible, and Jesus. The largest controversy
when it comes to Christian Science is the belief about healing and medicine. They believe that prayer
and spiritual means to heal themselves of any sickness. The concept was produced when Mary was
reading the Bible while being ill. Her idea of spiritual healing is also believed to be a large part of
redemption. If a person does not believe that God will heal them through prayer, then they are not
saved. After teaching a class her newfound belief on healing, she established a school called the
Massachusetts Metaphysical College. Many of her students became believers and were able to heal
people. It was during this time that the belief grew until the twenty first ... Show more content on

the only reality. With the power of God, one glimpse can overcome sin, sickness, and evil. Over all,
the belief is similar to Christianity except the spiritual healing

Nature s Fury Controversy
I visited the exhibit Nature s Fury: The Science of Natural Disasters, at the American Museum of
Natural History and was amazed by the entire adventure. When I entered the section titled Nature s
Furry I could feel my inner child stirring inside as I glanced over all the exhibits. The eight minute
presentation of how the earth has been affected by all of these natural disasters felt a little unnerving. I
loved how they divided the exhibit into four sections, which were Earthquakes, Volcanic eruptions,
Tornados and Hurricanes. I skillfully created my own volcano and watched it erupt. Stood in the
middle of a room so I could feel like the eye of a tornado and had a panoramic view. I happily
stomped to be recorded by a seismic wave

Symbolism In Harry Potter And The Sorcerer s Stone
Symbolism throughout J.K Rowling s Harry Potter and the Sorcerer s Stone
Many have read novels, and it take a select few to truly comprehend what the author intends. Only a
few understand the underlying meaning of the author using specific skills such as symbolism. In Harry
Potter and The Sorcerer s Stone there are many ways symbolism is used, even the smallest things are
noticed. Rowling makes you really analyze the text to dig out your own interpretation. J.K. Rowling
uses brilliant literary techniques to create symbolism in Harry Potter and The Sorcerer s Stone.
Rowling used 3 crucial pieces in the novel for the reader to read in between the lines to grasp the
entire concept. She incorporates Harry s Scar, Quidditch, and The Mirror of Erased to create an

Jack Trout And Ries
What a strange word, positioning. Its origins are shrouded in the fog of history. The popular marketing
writers, Jack Trout and Al Ries, started talking about position or positioning in 1972 or thereabouts,
and took credit later for having invented positioning. However, I believe that positioning was an
emerging concept and a term, in at least limited use, within the marketing and advertising community
at the time that Trout and Ries first wrote about it. Certainly, the basic concepts of positioning were
not new in 1972. The term positioning was described by Trout and Ries as the basic position in the
consumer s mind occupied by a brand. They saw positioning as an antidote to the over communicated
society, in which consumers were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the beginning, it s critical to talk to consumers representing a broad spectrum of the potential
market. It is in these early stages that you must resist the temptation to focus too quickly on a narrow
segment of consumers. Keep the market definitions very broad in the early stages of the research so
you do not accidentally preordain the outcome before it begins. For example, if you interviewed
people who only use rotary lawnmowers, you probably would find they only want to buy rotary
mowers. But if you interviewed everyone with a lawn, you probably would identify many different
needs, problems and motives that may form the basis for a positioning strategy.
Qualitative methods (focus groups, depth interviews and ethnography) are essential in the early stages.
What do consumers know, and what do they not know? What language, associations, images, and
metaphors do consumers use in talking about the category? What brands are they familiar with, and
how much do they know about the different brands? What are their perceptions of each of these
brands? What motivates them to consume the product or use the service? What are the key
determinates of brand preference? How is the market segmented or subdivided? What products or
services would be substituted if the subject brand were unavailable? What are the major channels of
distribution, and how does the channel relate to perceptions and usage of the brands? Who are heavy

Medical Sonography Career Path
The career path that I am choosing to follow is Diagnostic Medical Sonography. This career involves
the use of frequency waves to view tissues; organs and blood flow inside of the body. My main career
goals involve getting into the program, then getting a solid career in this profession. From there I plan
on growing and getting even more education if it is offered, as well as branching out into other fields
of Songraphy.
Sonography is considered fairly new to the medical world. It started back in the 19th century when
people were becoming curious of what the inside of the body looked like. Soon after, the x ray was
invented. Then the French government had a man named Paul Langevine invent an object to detect
enemy submarines during war. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Phase I is the general education course that consists of nine classes SITE. I think my biggest obstacles
will be in this phase. This phase includes my biology classes, which means there is a lot of
memorization required for different bones, tissues, and organs in the body. These classes can be taken
at my own pace and the grades that I receive in these classes will determine if I get into phase II or
not. Because the program at Greenville Tech only accepts 15 students, it is imperative that I perform
to the best of my abilities in every one of my classes. Greenville Tech is also one of the few accredited
programs in South Carolina, which makes it even more harder to be come a Sonographer. I must also
have to attend a career talk to get into the program, which basically talks about a career in Diagnostic
Medical Sonography and informs students on what to expect going into the program. Phase II of
course, is the actual program for Diagnostic Medical Sonography. It is a year long clinical and class
environment where I will learn hands on how to be a Diagnostic Medial Sonographer. Altogether,
becoming a sonographer could take from 2 4 years depending on the amounts of classes taken each
semester, as well as the program itself. Before officially becoming a sonographer in South Carolina, I
will have to take a test. It is called the Ultrasound Physics and Instrumentation Examination, as well

The Life of Aemelia Lanyer
It was said that she was the best poet of her time and during her career. Aemelia Lanyer sought out to
prove just that. Aemelia was a strong minded woman who stood for equality. She stressed her need for
woman to be heard. Using her work for the women of many generations, she proved that they were
just as important to society as men. Aemelia inspired women to play their roles in society. She was an
inspiration to some, an alter ego to others, and a hero to many. She was strong, bold, and outspoken
when it came to her personal opinions. Aemelia Lanyer, also known as Emilia Bassano birthdate is not
certain, but sources say that she was baptized on January 27, 1569 in London. She was born into a big
family of Jews. Her parents were Baptist Bassano, who was a court musician, and Margaret Johnson.
Margaret was his common law wife which means they were only married in their eyes. At the age of
7, her father died. After his death, she started to get royal access to Elizabethan court circles. She spent
some of her early years in the household of Susan Bertie, Countess of Kent. Another tragic death
happen when Aemilia became eighteen. After her mother died, she began spiraling out of control.
While Aemilia was in the Elizabethan court circles, she met Henry Carey, first Lord Hunsdon, Queen
Elizabeth s lord chamberlain. Though forty five years her senior, she became his mistress for several
years. During her affair, she became married to Alphonso Lanyer, her first cousin,

Symbols In Malcolm X
Symbols are shown throughout the film representing Malcolm s transformation. Symbols are words,
gestures, pictures or objects that carry a particular meaning which is only recognized by those who
share the culture. The words in a language or jargon belong to this category, as do dress, hairstyles,
Coca Cola, flags and status symbols (Hofstede, 1997). Initially, the zoot suit that Malcolm wears
indicates that he is involved in a hustler lifestyle. Once Malcolm is released from prison, the audience
can see the transformation he underwent. First in the way he speaks. He transitions from saying nigga

mathematics. In the same way that Malcolm did not know his origins. An important symbol to note is
the similarities between the house burning of Malcolm s childhood home and the home he lived in
with his family. Both scenes begin in the same manner, the waking up of wife and collecting the
children. Both scenes also end in similar ways with Malcolm and his father holding a gun.

Malcolm s life that his views and values aligned with his fathers. Initially, Malcolm believed that

Social Media And Electronic Communication
Communication
Electronic communication technologies influence the social development of adolescents in several
ways including interpersonal communication, and emphasized that interpersonal communications are
depersonalized because adolescent now conduct a higher proportion of communication electronically
rather than face to face or voice to voice. (Subrahmanyam greenfield, 2008). Any type technology to
communicate with others, such as cell phones, instant messaging, and social networking sites, it
deprives any visual or auditory cues of facial expression, body language, and voice dynamics (Cyr,
Berman, Smith, 2014). Interpersonal relationship problems arise when messages on either end are
misunderstood (Erozkan, 2013).
When adolescents communicate face to face, it provides an adequate tone of voice, therefore the
message is more clearly, in contrast, when using social media, the reader may misinterpret the
message. Erozkan (2013) emphasized that without effective communication, a message can turn into
error, misunderstanding, or frustration. Communication is the basis of personal relationships and
effective communication happens when the message that is sent is the same message that is received
(Erozkan, 2013). This can cause differences in relationships as interactions face to face are necessary.
Although face to face interactions provides more meaning to relationships, adolescents opt to use their
electronic communication. Some adolescents might be more expressive

Dyslexia according to the Oxford Dictionary is a general term for disorders involving difficulty to
read or interpret words, letters or other symbols, but does not affect general intelligence.
This essay will look at the theories of causality of Dyslexia and what types of behaviour would lead
one to consider that a learner might be Dyslexic.
In my many years of teaching I have come across children with different learning abilities. Some
children have had a weakness in Literacy that required a more individualised approach. Even though
none of them have been diagnosed with Dyslexia, they have helped me gain an understanding of the
challenges they have faced. In working closely with these learners and their therapists I have observed

  • 2. Helen Of Troy, By Margaret Atwood Unlike the many versions of Helen of Troy, in Margaret Atwood s The Penelopiad, she paints the infamous woman as imperfect, as a siren, a goddess, a murderer. By making the reader see Helen through Penelope s eyes, new layers are added to this character so often sought after. Helen and Penelope s dynamic adds a layer to not only The Penelopiad, but also to the male dominated Odyssey. These factors create a dynamic feminine force, and both women are in multiple ways a foil to one another. Many of Penelope s insecurities comes from her own view of herself and the way her experiences have shaped her. At the very beginning of the novel she says Hadn t I been faithful? Hadn t I waited, and waited, and waited, despite the temptation almost the compulsion to do otherwise? And what did I amount to, once the official version gained ground? An edifying legend. A stick used to beat other women with (Pg. 2, The Penelopiad). Penelope already has immense difficulty with herself and her identity. It is an interesting dichotomy. In one way Penelope wants to be like Helen because she doesn t have the status of a legendary faithful wife. However, she is forgetting that Helen does have her own legendary status, one that Penelope sometimes longs for, but is most likely unsatisfactory in its own way. One of Penelope s biggest jealousies for Helen is the amount of power she has over all she encounters, in life and death. When Penelope first settles into her new life she states ...there was ... • 3. What Is The Theme Of Not Without My Daughter By Betty... The novel Not Without My Daughter is a book by Betty Mahmoody which gives us an insight into the hard and tainted life the author herself went through being a wife and mother in a stringent patriarchal society in which a woman is reprimanded and punished for having a voice. The social experiences, where two societies meet and unite in the ties of marriage are delineated in various scholarly works. One such work which concentrates on the social experiences in connection to marriage is the book Not Without My Daughter by Betty Mahmoody. The hero of the story, Betty Mahmoody, a Christian lady having a place with the Western society gets hitched to Sayyed Bozorg Mahmoody, an Iranian specialist practicing medicine in America. The Western society ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At the point when a person fitting in with a Western society weds a person who has experienced childhood in Islamic society, both the people try to adjust to each other s culture. Case in point in the book Not Without My Daughter, Betty who was brought up in Western society tries to absorb into the way of life of her Iranian spouse. She goes with her spouse to Iran to spend a two week excursion there. As she is mindful of the way that a lady is required to cover her head in Iran, she utilizes a scarf to cover her head even before coming to Iran. She likewise permits her little girl to be named Mahtob, which was an Iranian name. Through these endeavors, Betty tries to turn into a piece of the way of life to which her spouse had a place. Betty s marriage was a union of Western society and Islamic society. Albeit there were numerous distinctions in the way of life of Betty and her spouse Moody, they lived agreeably after their marriage. Living in America, Betty and Moody drove an upbeat and placated wedded life. In a marriage where the life partners fit in with diverse societies, it is critical that every mate adjusts and comprehend the way of life of other companion. In a house where two societies exist, the kids are raised in a social domain which is affected by the way of life of the mother and father. The conduct and thinking about the youngsters show the impact of both the way of life. The meeting of two societies in a marriage has beneficial outcomes and negative impacts. It relies on the life partners whether they change over their marriage into concordant union of two societies or clashing meeting of different ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Performance Of Classical Music Classical music has been played in many different venues, with many different instruments, in many different time periods so it is very interesting to compare all of the performances. The performance I went was definitely very different from how the music would ve been played when the composers first wrote them. The 200 year difference allows me to explore all of the unique aspects that both the first performance and my current performance added to the experience that classical music concerts. Although concerts of the 1800s and 2000s differ because of venue, musician popularity, and finances, they have similarities in style, audience reaction and musician interpretation. The concert I went to was part of a non profit organization called ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When looking through many different volumes of the publication The Musical Times and Singing Class Circular I was able to read about the most recent concerts that happened within the month that the journal came out.5 Composers who were around during that time had some of their first performances of pieces published as well as people like Mozart and Beethoven were having their pieces played by famous musicians of the time.15 Classical music was the most popular played back then so they did not need a non profit organization to start a concert series to expose people to the music instead they needed a journal to inform the public when the shows and write reviews for all the new music being played. In the nineteenth century, composers and musicians were treated like the pop stars of the twenty first century are treated today. They only play at large venues with many people watching and they get the VIP treatment before after and during their performance.4 Sadly, however, the venue I went to and the way the musicians were treated was much more casual it can almost be compared to the open mic night of today. The venue was a small church and there were only two musicians, a cellist and a pianist. People were able to sit right next to the cellist since his seat was in the middle of the isle. After the show, they were able to interact with the guests who came to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. In Ancient Egypt, stelas are either stone or wooden slabs... In Ancient Egypt, stelas are either stone or wooden slabs used as a means of presenting a monument, usually for funerary purposes. They were also used as markers between territories. Stelas usually feature some sort of decoration and are carved in relief, either raised or sunken. Paint also was incorporated in some of these stelas and often featured hieroglyphics detailing the scene. In Egypt these stelas were primarily used as funerary ornaments, very much resembling tombstones. Looking from the first dynasty on, stelas changed throughout the dynasties in Egypt including their shapes, kind of decorations, and their inscriptions. Initially used as tombstones, these stelas were placed outside of the tombs to name the tomb owner and acted ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Historians suggest that these stelas might have been placed on the outside of funerary complex while others suggest that they may have been used to roof the structure. Although many theories exist, it is pretty much commonly agreed that these stelas did not exist within the tombs walls during this time. Abydos becomes an important location during Ancient Egyptian history. The end of the Old Kingdom saw the city of Abydos as the center for Osiris. We see Abydos becoming the destination for pilgrimages and the site for annual festivities. Looking specifically at the stelas at Abydos we see that they are smaller in size and lack the artistic preciseness we see in later funerary complexes. The stelas at Abydos were set up in pairs though and do not feature the rounded top that we identify with the first and second dynasties. These stelas depict the tomb owner and are inscribed with their title and name. Looking at the funerary stela located in the Metropolitan Museum of art dated between the first and fourth century is composed of limestone and found at Abydos. Anubis is depicted as she presents the deceased to the enthroned Osiris (MET). Also depicted is the mourning goddesses Isis and Nephthys, both very crudely executed and are merely silhouetted forms with oversized heads. This exaggeration of form is suggested to represent the impact of the subject ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Rituals Are An Important Aspect Of Human Interaction And... Rituals are an important aspect of human interaction and society, and they provide a link and support to those around us. Rituals make us self aware of our emotional state and provide spiritual refuge when we need it. They are the vessel through which we can become closer to our gods or deities; they are sanctuaries in time of need, distractions from the overwhelming feeling of dealing with life and its troubles, they are the pillars of faith that keep us intact. Without them, we would be a very distant and disconnected society. The ritual I have chosen to discuss is one that particularly caught my attention, including the many variations of it as well the Buddhist Fire Ritual, or Homa (goma). The purpose of this ritual is to get rid of negative energies and to cleanse the mind and spirit, and involves the beating of drums, chanting of mantras, and of course, fire. Variations of this ritual depend on the occasion, but they all include the burning of the fire, invoking higher powers, and reciting said mantras. As part of my research on this ritual, I looked up a YouTube video on it and found it to be very interesting. The one I watched of this ritual being performed took place in a small, dimly lit room, mainly lit up with ceremonial candles, holding few people and two Buddhist priests. One was chanting the mantras, beating a Taiko drum, and shaking bells while the other did the work with the fire and the main aspect of the ritual. After distributing what was ... The Python Of The Kingdom Animalia Topic 1: Context By Selah Green Topic 1A) The Python of the Kingdom Animalia, Phylum Chordata, Class Reptilia, Order Squamata, Family Phythonidae is vertebrate with several diverse species (spp.) (Banks, 2004). Topic 1B) The Python spp. is classified with Kingdom Animalia because they re heterotrophs and exhibit motility. The Python spp. descendent from a chordata because they have a spine and backbone developed from the notochord and dorsal nerve cord. The Python spp. is cold blooded species and covered in scales. They have embryos or eggs that are covered by an amniotic membrane. All phylogenetics are consistent with their relationship to lizards around 150 million years ago in the late Jurassic Period (Strauss, 2016). Topic 1C) There are different species of Pythons so their environments vary. The P. molurus bivittatus inhabit Southeast Asia in jungles and grassy marshes (Society, 2014). The P. regius lives in Africa adapting into farmland or grassland savannah. Most Python spp. are native to parts of Asia and Africa (Gorzula, 1997). Some of the Python spp. swim and water features are important to their environment such as the P. bivittatus. Juvenile P. bivittatus spent most of the time inhabiting trees but as adults, they increase in size and weight will shift their habitat to the ground (Society, 2014). P. anchietae inhabits rocks on mountain terrains and plains with shrubs (M.A, 2010). Topic 1D) P. anchietae, P. breitensteini, P. brongersmai, P. curtus and P. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Human Anatomy Based On Dissection Art is word that most individuals have an idea, a mental category, of yet often fail to truly define. This is due to the fact that art is a term that has existed for thousands of years and thus its meaning and lexicography has changed drastically over the years based on endless factors. Art started off being defined as a craft, measured by the technical prowess of the artist and used as tool in the retelling of history or for religious practices and doctrine. From there, it evolved into a practice of replication, attempting to create the most realistic of images, particularly around the time of the renaissance, with the invention of linear perspective and a growing understanding of human anatomy based on dissection. In the renaissance, the more technically capable an artist is in recreating life, the more talented he is seen to be. However, movements like impressionism, a reaction to the invention of photography, now aimed for, not realism, but the capturing of the impression of the image, using colour and broad brushstrokes, giving pieces an unfinished look. Symbolism and expressionism aimed for a less literal view of the world. In reaction to freud s interpretation of dreams, surrealism aimed to explore the creative potential of the human psyche, while the modernist movement resulted in art that can be as simple as painting squares on a canvas or signing your name on a urinal. • 9. My Struggle For Independence Growing Up Of A First... It is with great honour to share the tale of my struggle for independence growing up in a first generation home. To begin, I shall introduce you to my family. Firstly, my parents had three children together, all two years apart, me being the youngest. Both of my parents had high school diplomas, however were unsuccessful in earning a well supporting, paying job. My mom worked in an office as a clerk; although once she got pregnant she stayed at home to take care of the young children. However, once our budget started to become tight, my mom had to start working again. Unfortunately, my mom s old position was filled by an individual with post secondary experience. Eventually, she obtained a position once a week as a cashier at a local ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The fights and arguments that my parents had would rub off on the children making life very difficult. My parents would fight so constantly that they could no longer keep their marriage happy causing them to file for a divorce. This was the hardest time in my life. When my parents got the divorce I went from barely seeing my own father from working long hours to barely seeing my own mother, who had to pick up full time work as a cashier. Eventually, my dad went to live with his parents which resulting in me rarely seeing him. I knew I had to help out because my mother was now single, taking care of three kids. My mom would work three jobs trying to pay for lawyer fees for the divorce, pay bills, and take care of three young children. After seeing endless days and nights of my mom crying over finances, I promised to her life was going to be different. I developed a sense of determination to gain an education and pay for my own tuition. The struggle of coming from a first generation family has definitely opened my eyes to the harsh reality of life without post secondary experience. My ambition to help began when I was eight. The job only paid eighty dollars a month, which I split with my brother, leaving me with only forty dollars. Eventually, when I was fourteen, I got my first real paying job at Tim Horton s working weekends while still studying hard ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The low status and expectations given to women through the dawn of time, allowed them to grow out of their cage and improve their social standing. For a very long time men have seen women as fragile possessions whose only use is for farming and housekeeping. Destined to being seen as possession to men, women have struggled to become independent and live their own lives since long ago. In The Erl king, by Angela Carter, the protagonist is the perfect example of a woman who escaped from her destiny of being enslaved by the man she once loved. Just as Wei Tung believed that he has lived a life that is entirely pleasing, he received a phone call with mounting urgency by his parents to marry a Chinese girl and present them with a grandchild. Presenting a grandchild to one s parents is believed to be a vital family duty that every child should be able to accomplish. While Wei Tung was certainly respectful of his parents and was constantly looking after their health and well being while they were in New York, he was undeniably disinclined to sacrifice his relationship with Simon in order to satisfy his parents craving for a grandchild. As his parents traditional views locked horn with Wei Tung s reluctance to cave in, something got to give and an accidental pregnancy by Wei Wei turned the tide into the parents favor, although this was ultimately the key to Wei Tung reconciling the whole conflicts. From his childhood, to his college experience, to his complicated role as a father, Coates gradually unfolds a critical account of the relationship between black and white communities. He calls those who believe themselves to be white the Dreamers and criticizes them for the indifference toward black people s experiences. He wants the audience to reflect upon themselves and realize that they are part of the problem. Coates gives a subtle indication on how he is reaching out to the audience by writing this letter to his son. He begins the letter by saying Son but he does not specify who his son until halfway through the book where he finally tells the audience his name. For generations children have been raised from a young age to value these morals that the United States stands for. American values have long been seen as the ray of hope for millions of people around the globe. Immigrants from every imaginable culture flood to the United States each year, possessing only the tattered dreams of a better life. But do we truly live up to this grand title we have claimed for hundreds of years? • 17. Hyperkalemia is an Imbaland of Serum Potassium Hyperkalemia is a common electrolyte imbalance characterized by elevated serum potassium. Hyperkalemia is defined as serum potassium concentrations greater than 5.5 mmol/L (normal range is 3.5 to 5.0 mmol/L). In the body, ninety eight percent of potassium is intracellular, and the 2 % left is extracellular which is needed for nerve conduction and muscle contraction. For this reason, extracellular potassium concentration is tightly regulated through renal potassium excretion. Up to 90% of dietary intake of potassium is excreted by the kidney. As kidney function declines, the kidney compensates and aldosterone levels increase in order to boost potassium excretion. However, compensatory mechanisms may become overwhelmed, and result in hyperkalemia (Raymond Wazny, 2010). Potassium plays an important role in nerve and muscle function. As a result of this role, abnormalities in serum potassium may trigger membrane excitability and considerable nerve, muscle and cardiac dysfunction leading to ventricular arrhythmias and subsequently sudden cardiac death. It is estimated that between 1% and 10% of patients admitted to a hospital experience hyperkalemia, with a mortality rate of 1 per 1,000 (Raymond Wazny,2010). Causes of Hyperkalemia Many causes of hyperkalemia are seen in clinical practice. Under Eugene Fama s(1965) survey, it is reflected that there is a turning point of the modern finance by efficient market hypothesis. However, there had been a shift in the focus to the theory of behavioral finance (Shiller, 2003) recently. Behavioral finance is the financial structure which supplements various parts of finance (Gallagher, 2003). It is the module which supports and displays the behavior of the investment managers and assists in the overall process of management. Therefore, behavioral finance is a unique art which is required to be selected in order to understand the outcomes of interactions between the investment managers and the corporates. Given this background, this essay examines how the behavioral finance has challenged the efficient market hypothesis and the implications of behavioral finance for investment managers. 2. Any type technology to communicate with others, such as cell phones, instant messaging, and social networking sites, it deprives any visual or auditory cues of facial expression, body language, and voice dynamics (Cyr, Berman, Smith, 2014).
