Political Politics In France
Every country has its own agenda for its people and purpose for it s military. Looking at the
world nations, France is one of the most advanced nations that are currently an ally to the United
States (US). Looking at the political, economic, and military situation of France can best describe
the type of ideals and direction of focus the society has and will continue to have over the next few
years or more. Francehas a somewhat similar political system to the US. They have a President,
known as the President of the Republic. The French President serves a five year term, unlike the
US President which only serves a four year term. However both the French and US Presidents can
only serve a two terms. France just finished an... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Buddhism Origin
Origins Buddhism originated in the Ganges River Valley area in the late 6th century B.C.E. The
founder, Siddhartha Gautama, was born (ca. 563 B.C.E.) in a place called Lumbini near the
Himalayan foothills, and he began teaching around Benares (at Sarnath). The Buddha was a
member of the kshatriya caste who abandoned his privileged life to seek the meaning of life. In
his early years, he lived as a prince in his royal palace, but when Siddhartha was 29 years old, he
retired to the forest and followed a spiritual life of meditation. After six years, he attained
enlightenment under the Bodhi Tree in Bodh Gaya, India.
Divinity/Afterlife
Deities: After the Buddha died, some perceived him as a God. However, that is not what Siddhartha
Gautama taught. Buddhism is sometimes called an atheistic religion, although some prefer non
theistic meaning that believing in gods really isn t the point.
Buddhism accepted the basic Hindu doctrines of reincarnation, karma, and the goal to escape the
cycle of death and rebirth.
Formula for salvation: Nirvana is the final goal of Buddhism. It is a transcendent state in which
there is neither suffering, desire, nor sense of self, and the subject is released from the effects of
karma and the cycle of death and rebirth.
Afterlife: They believe that one s status in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Buddhism also brought new types of behavior: the practice of making offerings before images,
forms of seated meditation, rites of confession and consecration, and the new gesture of palms
pressed together. Also, many expressions in modern Chinese stemmed from Buddhist texts.
Characteristics of the Chinese language, such as its dependence on tones, were also sparked by
studying the Indian language, which involved Buddhist texts. Lastly, many beautiful Buddhist
temples and paintings are still admired

Kasey Rivera Reflection
According to Ray Kroc, The quality of a leader is reflected in the standards they set for
themselves . As developing leaders, do we reflected the same standards we set upon ourselves to
other? I thought I knew Kasey Rivera before asking others about her. The reflection that people
saw of Kasey was different from what she was seeing. On the surface, Kasey Rivera is an
eighteen year old college pursuing her bachelor s degree in order to success in the future.
However, there is more than just a college student in her whether it is from my perspective or others.
Strength
I view Kasey Rivera as a girl who as came a long way from what she was to who she is now. She
is not the same student that she was from high school to this present day. The process of the
construction of her true potential brings enthusiasm in Kasey. Rivera sees herself as a good
leader from the different involvement throughout her life. She has been a hardworking leader and
always have the words to communicate with others. Kasey Rivera is a go getter and not afraid to
step out of an environment s comfort zone. Her interpersonal communicational skills and people
oriented focus drives her due to her drive to improve on her leadership skills.
Weakness
On the other hand, Kasey Rivera has her flaws. Rivera s enthusiasm to improve herself comes
with stubbornness to change. She is very sensitive to feedback she receives. The sensitive
emotions do not teach her that she has to put her stubborn away. Her angry gets Kasey s best at
times. She portrays herself as lay back and lazy when in reality she is not. Rivera is does not
take some or all jokes at her lightly. Her short tempter gets the best of her and takes things out of
proportions and simply takes everything too seriously. Kasey Rivera clear mission on the future
frighten her at times. She is scared that she would not achieve her goals and dreams or disappoint
others.
Affiliation
The idiom Birds of a feather flock together is a phrase associated with affiliation. People who
have the same taste and interests are usually found together. Kasey Rivera affiliate herself with
people who are dedicated in education much like herself. She is associated with leaders in the
making as she is a part of

The Futility Of Dreaming By John Steinbeck
Sydney Pamela Larter

English ENG1D: Block 7
February 5, 2015
The Futility of Dreaming
As the late Osho believed, And desires are never here and now they are non existential. They are
just mental, in the mind. And they cannot be fulfilled because their very nature is to move into the
future. John Steinbeck s novella, Of Mice and Men explores this theme of futile desire through
various relationships and character complexes. This fictional story begins by introducing two men
with a relationship built from the very foundations of love. As the novel progresses, we begin
questioning innate truths. Steinbeck uses his literary prowess to entwine us within a story of
loneliness, loss and morality. The characters hopes and dreams, regardless of outcome, are a
mechanism of survival and a desire to lead something other than an otherwise inconsequential
existence.
Steinbeck presents dreams as a tool to aid the men of the ranch s contentment. They give a sense
of purpose, a reward for long days of hard labor on the ranch. The idea of dreams prolonging
survival and happiness is best portrayed by the dream and relationship shared by Lennie and
George. Their mutual dream to live offa the fatta the lan (Steinbeck 57) brings to light their need
of other s companionship to alleviate isolation and loneliness, and to make their dream seem more
realistic. To immerse oneself in this idyllic fantasy world with acres of vegetable garden, and
rabbits, was the perfect

Figurative Language In First Death
Elizabeth Bishop s poem First Death in Nova Scotia follows a small girl who is introduced to the
concept of death for the first time through her cousin, Arthur. Even though the narrator is just a
child who is experiencing death for this first time, she is extremely perceptive of her surroundings.
The details and language the girl uses to describe the situation illustrates the difficulty the girl is
having coming to terms with the idea of death, while also confusing her throughout the poem. The
important concepts of death, grief, and loss of innocence are conveyed by Bishop through the
encounter the girl is having with death. Bishop s theme in the poem seems to be that death can be
extremely sorrowful yet hard to understand and as such, people deal with these feelings in different
ways, even children. The narrator, being a small child, naturally uses distractions in her
surroundings and her figurative language to start to understand death at the end of the poem.
People deal with grief in different ways. As a small child, the way the narrator handles uncertainty
and pain is distressing, yet also expected. She finds distractions in the furniture and decorations. The
child notices a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The narrator questions at the end of the poem how could Arthur go? (50). Even though she is
confused by death, she is still afraid of it. Bishop s poem is unique in a sense that it is written
through the point of view of a small child. Furthermore, the child is experiencing a life changing
and painful concept for the first time. The child s innocence is shown by her response to death. By
finding distractions through comparisons, word choices, and even a stuffed loon in response to the
inability to comprehend the painful concept of death is the theme Bishop was trying to portray. She
also touches on the idea that trying to comprehend the finality of death, takes a toll on some

Class C Airspace
There was no need for airspace regulation in the US up until 1903 when the Wright brothers began
the modern age of air flight with a homemade aircraft. Then in 1905, the work of the Wright
brothers accumulated into the first practical aircraft that and subsequent improvements that allowed
aviation technology to develop into commercial aircraft as well as war capable planes which were
used in World War I.
Early aviation was quite dangerous as a result of no advanced navigational technologies or
automated flight systems. A great deal of human error was possible with these early aircraft.
During these times, pilots flew close enough to the ground so that they could tell where they were
going by using roadways and railways. This sort of primitive ... Show more content on

A class C airspace must have met a basic physical infrastructure of a control tower and a radar
controlled approach system. The altitude limit for class C airspace is usually 4000 ft above the
airport. The overarching shelf like space has an upper and lower region, each with a radius of 10
miles and 20 miles, respectively. Although prior authorization/permission is not needed, aircraft that
want to enter class C airspace must establish radio communication with local air traffic control
prior to entering the airspace or be faced with trespassing. Aircraft pilots wishing to enter this
area do not need special certification but a speed limit of 230 mph must be obeyed below the
altitude of 2500 feet and the immediate area surrounding class C airspace. Pilots must be willing
to follow commands from ATC including requests not to enter the airspace or to vacate the
airspace. Class C airspace designation is only to be effective while the control tower and radar
controlled approach system are active. Outside of these hours, the airspace becomes Class D or E
airspace depending on if the approach control is closed or the tower is

China s Threat to the Us Economy
China s Threat to the United States Economy
For the last twenty eight years, China has been quickly growing into one of the largest economies
in the world. China has accomplished this feat, in part, by radically changing their policies on trade
and free market interactions with other countries. During this process, China has bought
approximately one hundred trillion dollars of United States debt in the form of Treasury bills, notes,
bonds, and Inflation Protected Securities (Amadeo). This debt has given China leverage against the
United States which has enabled China to keep the value of the United States dollar high, while
keeping the value of the Chinese yuan low. As the inflation of the dollar continues to negatively
affect the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Instead, China could use their debt leverage to impact foreign trade policies and more importantly
domestic political policies that budget how the United States spends its tax dollars (Elwell 22).
China has become a perceived threat to the U.S. economy because of the increasing trade deficit
between the two countries, their ability to undercut production costs of similar products produced
in the United States, and the amount of leverage that China has over the United States due to
amount of money that has been lent by China. Although the United States has taken steps to close
the trade deficit, such as convincing China to raise prices on their exports, there is still a
considerable gap (Prasad). The United States government continues to print money that they simply
can t afford, therefore, relying even more heavily on China sustaining the value of their currency.
Unless the United States is able to close the trade deficit and regain control of our economic
flexibility, the problems caused by foreign countries owning our debt will remain eminent.

Overview of Behavioral Economics Essay
Behavioural economics is the study of the effects that psychology has on the decision making of
the economy. This tends to be the way that people think and feel when they are spending money
on a certain good or service. The great economist Adam Smith was the first follower of this idea
through his book The theory of moral sentiments which dates back to 1759. However, it took
over 100 years to get a more clarified meaning of how big of a role the psychology of a buyer
plays in economics. In behavioural economics there are seven basic principles which all contribute
to the decision making process. Behavioural economics can explain how people will react to
different situations such as times when there are no economic problems and times when... Show

In other words most people would prefer to pay more and buy a more expensive product
thinking that by paying more it is also superior to the other products of the same category that
are cheaper. However, although the phrase you get what you pay for might have some validity in
it that is not always the case, due to the fact that sometimes the products that might be cheaper are
just as good as the competitor brand which has a higher price. In this instant it would be logical to
buy the cheaper product however most human beings would opt for the expensive product,
assuming that it is of better quality than the cheaper product. On the other hand, Dan Ariely
rebuffs this claim and states, We choose what we like, not what s best. Sometimes humans don t
make decisions based on their preferences; instead they choose what they want and that leads to a
process of rationalisation in order to get what they really want. However, they still want to give the
impression that they were acting according to their preferences. Secondly, the framing effect states
that presenting the same option but in a different format can change people s decisions. Plous
(1993) states that, individuals have a tendency to select inconsistent choices, depending on
whether the question is framed to concentrate on losses or gains. A good example of when
framing is apparent is when stores advertise sale on their products. For example two stores both
sell the same product which is priced at ВЈ50

The Enlightenment was an intellectual and philosophical movement which dominated the world of

His attempt to construct the sciences on a secure metaphysical foundation was not as successful as
his method of doubt applied in philosophic areas leading to a dualistic doctrine of mind and matter.
His skepticism was refined by John Locke s Essay Concerning Human Understanding and David
Hume s writings in the 1740s. His dualism was challenged by Spinoza s uncompromising assertion
of the unity of matter in his Tractatus and Ethics .
These laid down two distinct lines of Enlightenment thought: the moderate variety, following
Descartes, Locke and Christian Wolff which sought accommodation between reform and the
traditional systems of power and faith and the radical enlightenment, inspired by the philosophy of
Spinoza, advocating democracy, individual liberty, freedom of expression, and eradication of
religious authority The moderate variety tended to be deistic whereas the radical tendency
separated the basis of morality entirely from theology. Both lines of thought were eventually

Similar to our cameras, we designed our drones with basic features and mid level product
enhancements, to produce a two point two star level product. Some of these specifications
include front and rear obstacle sensors, 6 rotors, and an 8 minute battery pack, etc. By
producing only three models of low quality drones, we were able to manufacture and sell our
product at a lower cost. We produced our drone for $460.85 and sold it for $1150 to $1550.
Similar to our cameras, we invested in research and development, longer warranties, and retailer
support/recruitment. Furthermore, our investment in our website product displays and info
increased in all regions over the years as we realized a rise in e commerce for UAV drones, and
reacted in order to remain competitive. Our business strategy and operations varied globally
considerably more than it did for our entry level cameras. Since we had the lowest market share in
North America, we invested a large amount of our marketing efforts in this region. However,
consumers in this region were willing to pay more for our product, and our profit margin was
highest in this region (56.9%). Our investment in search engine advertising was also significantly
higher in this region because North Americans are highly engaged with search engines. Buyers of
UAV Drones in Latin America and the Asia Pacific regions are the most sensitive to price
differences across brands, so we balanced factors like quality, profit, and competition in order to

Human Systems Paper 2
April 16, 2015 Free Market or Government Intervention
In the 21st century, human and technologies are inseparable. In past decades, there has been an
astonishing amount of development in modern world s technology. Nanotechnology is one of
them. This technology is based on nano scale and it can be used in many different areas because
of its small sizes. (Metchis). However, there is a huge amount of uncertainties on the hazards of
nanomaterial due to lack of research in this field in real world applications. There is a lot of things
that need to be study on this technology. For this technology to be considered fully developed there
is an immediate need for a balance between a free and unregulated market with some involvement
from the government because both systems have its own strengths and weaknesses that will be
discussed further.
Free market. This term has always been debated by economist for its pros and cons. In the free
market, the buyer and the seller has freedom in doing their businesses. There will be no rule or any
sort of regulations that been set by any authoritative body to intervene with their businesses. This
type of situation is needed in the technology development business. Companies and firms can
spread their wings and expand their research and development (R D) department without
government intervention that could disturb their growth. Government organizations have always

Holden Salinger s The Catcher s The Rye
In The Catcher in the Rye, by J.D. Salinger, the main character and narrator Holden Caulfeild
walks many different paths of life. He jumps around different aspects of his life throughout the
book, showing the reader many different sides to himself. This theme is presented through the
author s technique in crafting the characterization and symbolism. J.D. Salinger develops a
puzzle of a personality for Holden throughout the book, to show the complexity and multitude of
sides to Holden s character. One way that J.D. Salinger shows off a side of Holden is through the
characterization. An aspect of Holden that Salinger creates is his school personality. Holden
comes off as a protected person. At the very beginning of Catcher in the Rye, one of the first
views of the narrator is a scene of him standing on top of a hill, looking down at one of the most
important games of the season for his school s team. In this passage, Holden is standing on top
of a hill, next to a cannon, watching the school game below. This shows how Holden is
protecting himself. His school is playing in one of the biggest games of the season, yet Holden is
standing in a place where he can t even view his side. When Holden refers to Pencey, he always
uses third person phrases, like them all almost as if he doesn t go to the school at all. He also refers
to them in a very grouped way, instead of saying them, he refers to the rest of the school as all.

The Greatest Horrors Of Wwii
Throughout history, humans have committed many atrocities against one another. WWII was the
birthplace for some of the worst crimes against humanity ever committed. Often times, we view
the United States as a hero in WWII; as a force that fought on the side of good. However, the
United States is not an exception when it comes to detestable acts in WWII. Aside from
Hiroshima and Nagasaki, one of our worst acts as a superpower came during Japanese war crime
investigations after the war was over. During the trials of Unit 731, a deal was made with Ishii Shiro
that the government is still trying to cover up. First, it is important to review Unit 731 and the
U.S cover up so that we may address more detailed issues concerning this topic. We will then
explore the government statements on the issue of medical and military advances as a result of the
deal, and explore evidence that provides a contrary conclusion.
One of the greatest horrors of WWII, Unit 731, is often overlooked when talking about WWII
atrocities, perhaps because it is not taught in the secondary education curriculum. Unit 731 was a
top secret Japanese medical unit during the cold war that focused on producing biological and
bacteriological weapons during WWII. While biological and bacteriological are, by many,
considered to be inhumane in nature, Unit 731 went even further by partaking in human
experimentation in order to achieve greater knowledge about these weapons, and to gain knowledge
about anything that might

Multiregional Human Evolution
Two theories explaining the origin of humans are popular today among evolutionists. The first
theory, multiregional continuity model states, modern humans evolved from several different
groups of hominids that interbred at some point at produce modern humans(Actionbioscience.org,
2017). Multiregional continuity contradicted the out of Africa theory with the data and the
evolutionary development within the homo species and its culture use and fossil findings. The
evolutionary development of the brain in hominins was associated with increasing social
complexity and the development of what we know as culture. Culture can be believed as the
accumulation of knowledge, rules and mental abilities that humans utilise in order to survive.

classic examples of species. This specie is considered a highly variable species, spread over two

mid 19th century, when Darwin wrote Origin of Species, the only lines of evidence of human
evolution he had were comparative anatomy and a few fossils. The only hominin (ancient
human) fossils known in the 19th century were Neanderthals, early modern humans and H.
erectus shown in figure three. Neanderthals identified as stocky build and large skulls with thick
eyebrow ridges and big teeth. They usually lived in caves, made flaked stone tools, and were the
earliest humans known to bury their dead shown in figure three. A lot of those early scholars didn
t even think those fossils were humans or related to us at all. Furthermore, in the early 20th
century numerous hominins with robust large brained skulls and heavy brow ridges (now usually
characterized as H. heidelbergensis) were discovered, the development of scholars started a wide
variety of scenarios about how we were related to these new hominins, as well as Neanderthals and

When a person decides to adopt, he takes the responsibility of raising a child who is not

the best thing for certain children and many successful stories prove it to be true. However, there
are also numerous tragic reports of adopted children being abused. Basically, what adoption meant,
and still means, is that someone (the adoptive couple) is promising to assume all responsibilities

There have been many various surveys taken concerning adoptees. Times reported various
horror stories concerning adoption. Some stories include children being poisoned, a child being
shaken to death, and children being sexually abused (Gay 89). Unfortunately these are just a few
examples of many. Adoptees often suffer from attachment disorders, which are more common in
older children. These disorders caused by adoption are extremely noticeable and should be taken
seriously. These unattached kids often experience unresponsiveness to affection, serious
problems with hoarding or stealing food, abnormal eye contact problems, often thinking about
blood or fire, and are often overfriendly to strangers (Adamec 73). Also identity and self image
problems are a major cause of distress to adopted children (Harnack 21). Counseling and therapy
are highly recommended to help kids deal with these disorders. Even though there are numerous
negative stories about adopted kids, there are also lots of success stories. Either way the adoptive
parents are totally responsible for the outcome of all situations concerning the child they decide to
adopt. Families may have different structures but they are all responsible for providing basic needs
(Foster 99).
Adoptive parents and biological parents are both fully capable of providing all the basic needs.

Oranges by Gary Soto Essay
Oranges
By Gary Soto
Gary Soto was born April 12, 1952, in Fresno, California to Mexican American parents. His
grandparents emigrated from Mexico during the Great Depression and found jobs as farm
laborers. Soto grew up poor in the San Joaquin Valley and learned that hard work pays off through
chores, such as moving lawns, picking grapes, painting houses, and washing cars.
When Gary was five his father died as the result of a factory accident, and his mother was left to
raise her three children with the help of her parents. Soto describes his family as an illiterate
family. They did not have books and were not encouraged to read. In fact, Gary did not start

Brightness shows how much power the orange actually has. The references in the story build up the
power of the orange.
Soto talks about sacrifice, and we all go through that. What we do to please other people. The
boy had to give up his orange because he didn t have enough money. He told his girlfriend that
she can chose any kind of candy found in the isle, and she chose a chocolate bar that cost a dime,
now the boy only had a nickel and a pair of oranges in his pocket. Instead of feeling embarrassed
and cheep in front of his new girl, the boy decided to put up the nickel and an orange on the
counter for the saleslady.
Oranges are rare in the winter and their encounter might be precious. They convey a powerful
feeling. Making fire in the hands represents that he is in love. That he feels God like, he feels tough
like he can do it all when he s around his girlfriend.
The tone of the poem is simple with broken down sentences. Adolescent love is simple much like
childhood love. There are the sweaty hands, heavy breathing, butterflies in the stomach, but when
kids fall in love, its not true love, it most likely is just a crush. The words that are used in the poem
are not complex but short and meaningful. When reading between the lines, and reading the poem
more than twice, it is much easier to put two and two together and have a better

Sonnet 146
Sonnet 146 is well known for its deeply intriguing religious aspect, as it is one of Shakespeare s
religious sonnets and almost the only religious one. It is religious as its tone mentions its concern
with heaven, asceticism and also the progress of the soul all through out the sonnet. The idea that
the poet was trying to convey to his audience is that the body exists at the expense of the soul, so
that adorning or worrying about its beauty can only be accomplished at the souls expense. The
poem is an internal monologue, which makes it first person point of view. This helps the audience
understand that he is talking to himself and whom he is talking about. This sonnetcan also be
referred to as mediation between the soul and the body... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The words poor and sinful are both negative. We can understand through this negative tone that the
poet or the earth in this sonnet is a bad place and we then link sinful to ungodliness, which is what
the whole poem is about.
Another example of metaphor used in this poem is found in the second quatrain; fading mansion
which is used the represent our body. This metaphor explains that our souls are slowly dying and
becoming very dull and fading as we do not live our lives like we are suppose to, according to the
poet.
In line 13 so shalt thou feed on death , gives us the audience a thought that we must constantly be
thinking about death and also as a part of human nature we ponder about life. In other words, for
this metaphor, we as humans feed on death, which in turns feeds on us.
Why so large a cost, having so short a lease this lease refers to life, which is short as we as
humans are not immortal. This metaphor asks why we as humans put so much effort into life when
death comes so quickly.
Closing couplet:
The metaphor from the 3rd quatrain is continued and expanded in the closing couplet. It finishes
from the 1st quatrain of the starving person within the mansion and then turns into irony of the
idea that death feeds on humans. And in the last lines, death and dying are words used as imagery
to describe and give us the final image of eternal life.
Shakespeare, with the use of vivid imagery,

Dna And Sequence Of Dna Essay
DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) is a self replicating nucleic acid that carries the genetic information
in cells in a double helix structure. The 2 stranded helix is composed of 4 nucleotides, Adenine
(A), Thymine (T), Guanine (G), and Cytosine (C). The base pairs only form between A and T
connected by 2 Hydrogen bonds and G and C connected by 3 hydrogen bonds. Foremost DNA
wrapping comes about as DNA wraps around protein called histones. These combined loops of
DNA and protein are called nucleosomes and the nucleosomes are packaged into a thread called
chromatin. Chromosomes are made up of packaged chromatin and can be seen in the nucleus of
dividing cells and form around DNA replication. Furthermore, DNA replication begins with 2
DNA strands being separated by the helicase enzyme. Single stranded DNA binding proteins
attach to these strands to keep them from re connecting. 1 DNA strand begins to encode called
the leading strand, which Forms from 5 to 3 end using DNA polymerase 3 the primary
polymerase. The other strand is referred to as the lagging strand, which presents problems
because it has to form from the 5 to 3 end as well. As continuous replication of the leading strand
continues the lagging strand forms in pieces called Okazaki fragments. RNA primase forms as
RNA primer and polymerase III lay down new DNA. This process repeats again and again. DNA
polymerase I replaces RNA primers with DNA and DNA ligase links the Okazaki fragments. Along

They tend to get damaged very easily. There is no guarantee that it can be kept safe for many
years by the patient. They are difficult to maintain over a longer period of time. In case of any
accidents, if the person readily has the smart health card with him or her, medication can
immediately be done by looking at their medical history. If the person gets unwell suddenly in a
place where he or she has got no manual medical reports with them, then smart health cards will be
of great use since there is no difficulty in carrying them to any place.
ADVANTAGES OF SMART HEALTH CARDS : They are easily portable. Records can be
maintained easily over a longer period of time. A complete medical history of the patient will be
available. Even if the patient is not able to explain his medical condition to any doctor, it can be
easily known from this card. It cannot be easily damaged. Even if the card is lost, the records of
the patient are not list since they are permanently present in the cloud. If their respective account is
signed up with the new card, their records are backed up to the new card.

The Importance Of Illegal Immigration
Illegal immigration has been a problem that has plagued the United States for many years. Yet this
problem is not a new uprising issue in view of the fact that thousands of immigrants have crossed
over seas and boarders since this country was founded. Although Immigrants have played a great
deal into the influence of culture in our country, and The underlying problem boils down to
birthright citizenship the guarantee of citizenship to the children of illegal immigrants who were
born on US soil. Children born on U.S. soil to Illegal Immigrants should not become U.S. citizens.
For the language within the clause of the 14th amendment has become tremendously distorted of its
original intent allowing illegal immigrants to take advantage of American citizen rights. In this
debate, I will be discussing the true intent behind the 14th amendment and clarifying the meaning
behind the words, that rule the law of the land. The original intent of the clause then changes what
is indicative of what this dispute is truly about. The notion of the original intent of the constitution
should be what governs who applies to the rights of an American citizen. While noteing the
presence of a U.S. born child should not be used as an excuse not to enforce the law. There needs
to be a revision in the notion that you can self immigrate or claim jurisdiction because you happen
to walk into the United States. Being born on a piece of land shouldn t magically make you an

The Importance Of Perspective During The Renaissance Era
To understand the importance of perspective during the Renaissance era, one must understand the
importance of art during the Renaissance era. Art was associated with religion, but was also a
way to depict what is and what was. Perspective came to rise during the Italian Renaissance for a
myriad of reasons, but mainly in creating a sense of realism and allowing one to manipulate space.
The utilization of perspective allowed the viewers to have a more intimate relationship with items
of worship in a sacred setting. Many paintings were closely tied to sacred paintings as an item to
assist worship or to retell the narrative of the Bible. Moreover, the Renaissance was also a time of
fascination with realism, exampled by Vasari s praise of the bare torso in the Piero della Francesca
as perfection as an anatomic study . Art is also complicated in that it grounds its persuasiveness in
the truth of optical experience (Pardo, Giotto and the Thing Not Seen). The addition of perspective
allows sacred paintings to appear three dimensional, adding a complexity to worshippers as it
seems as the bible narrative or the person of worship (Mary, Christ, etc.) is appearing out of the
painting directly to the worshipper. This interaction causes the viewer to feel more intimate in their
worship as they felt that they had a genuine, almost tangible, connection with the actual religious
figures. Perspective in practice is further shown with the possibility that the use of perspective in

I observed the negotiation from an outside angle for about half an hour at my uncle s office.
During the discussion, I absorbed if the customer was a good listener. I tried to figure out his bad
and good habits in his listening skills regarding the information I learned in class and the material
I read. During my observation, I noticed a few things which I considered as important for a
successful business and working time, such as their suitable clothes and professional standing. In
the beginning, the customer appeared as a good listener. As Dianne Schilling said, facing the
person talking, having eye contact with him and keeping an open mind are important habits for an
effective listening (par.2, 4). Most of the time, the customer faced my uncle and had eye contact
with him showing the good habits of a listener. Indeed as Vivian Giang said, knowing and following
what the other person is saying considering the verbal and nonverbal indications has a huge impact
in effective listening (par.1, 14, 15). The customer did follow my uncle while talking, but there
were a few cases he felt lost in the discussion. The reason, he felt lost, was that

European Exploration Dbq
Effects of European Exploration European exploration had both positive and negative effects.
The Old World and the New World both obtained new resources from each other like domestic
animals and crops. Negatively, Native Americans became enslaved and disease killed most of
them. The Old World and the New World were both greatly affected by this in positive and
negative ways. The positive effect of European exploration was that each world got new
resources, but the negative effect was that Native Americans became enslaved and most died from
diseases. The positive effect of European exploration was the trade of resources. The Colombian
exchange was the transfer of animals, plants, and ideas between the New World and the Old World
in the 15th and 16th century. The Columbia exchange brought domestic animals to the New World
like horses and cows, while the Old World got animals such as turkeys and llamas (Document F).

The Colombian exchange did not transfer only good things. Many diseases such as small pox,
measles, mumps, and malaria were brought over to the New World from the Old World, and
killed millions of natives (Document F). Hernando de Soto explored the Mississippi Valley in the
early 1500s where he found large, thriving cities connected by networks of trade. When Rene
Robert de La Salle followed de Soto s path in the 1680s, those cities had vanished because of
disease (Document C). Not only was disease a negatve effect of European exploration but the
natives became enslaved and were treated very poorly. Spaniards cut off the hands of Native
Americans for not collecting enough gold for them that day, proving Spaniards were very harsh
towards the natives (Document A). Not only that, but the first thing Columbus thought when he
said the natives, was that they would make great servants (Document

Evaluation Of A And Incident Management Essay
Diagnosis: Data about the day to day operations by field agents, resolution of incidents by
support and incident management staff, feedback regarding the satisfaction levels from the
residents were analyzed to find the sources of problems. The diagnosis process is crucial in OD
interventions in identifying the necessary actions to solve the problems. The diagnosis is
performed by: Analysis of Incident data: A large sample of incidents were gathered from the
incident management team. Incidents were filtered with the subsystems, impact, and priority to
identify the specific issues. Analysis of Management: Analysis revealed that most of the middle
level IT and QA were veteran Field agents with no or little experience in their departments. This
was a serious issue that needs to be changed. Analysis of Customer support: Analysis of Call data
from residents and field agents to customer support was analyzed to find out the pattern of issues
faced by customers in using the application. Competence Analysis: The accomplishments and the
performance appraisals were analyzed to estimate the competence of the IT developers in building
the existing system. This was key as frequent application crashes raise doubts of skill set of
developers. Analysis of Field agents and Residents feedback: Interviews with field agents and
survey of Residents have resulted in the understanding the issues they face in real time. It also

Fungi Lab
Fungi Lab Analysis Background Information: Fungi are nonphotosynthetic and must absorb
nutrients from surrounding organic matter. Most fungi obtain their food from dead organic matter
and thus considered saprophytes, however, a relatively small percentage called parasites derive
their food from other living organisms. Fungi may be unicellular (yeasts) or multicellular
(mushrooms) and their cell walls usually contain chitin. They may produce sexually or asexually by
means of spores. They are major factor in food deterioration however; benefits include the aid in
production of pharmaceuticals, food, and drink (Royse, 2003). Mould growth is affected by factors

another instrument to monitor constant temperatures. Real life applications of this source of error
include monitoring the temperature of storage of food to prevent mould growth. Another source of
error was the amount of aeration the fungi had access to. Due to the containment of bread in zip
lock bags, the air remained stagnant and was not changed out. This would have limited the growth
of mould but not extensively during the given experimental period (Arora, 2004). Improvements
include placing all the bread in an open oxygen environment. Applications of this source of error
would include storing food in sealable containers with limited exposure to air. Bibliography Arora,

Walter Mitty Dream
In The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, Walter Mitty daydreams into fantastic fantasies as he faces
the harshness of reality. Walter is first seen as the Commander of a navy hydroplane through a
hurricane. However, the The Old Man ain t afraid of Hell (The) in the hurricane is afraid of his
wife as she nags him for speeding. Unnamed Mrs. Mitty continues to command her husband even
insisting that he wear gloves. Walter, upset, purposely takes off the gloves at a red light. As he
stopped at the red light for too long, a cop tells him to Pick it up, brother! (The). Mitty
interestingly assumed the cop to be referring to the gloves he took off instead of the car. Because
of the authority figure of the cop, the second daydream is triggered. Mitty... Show more content on

Thurber had a troublesome marriage with Althea; Walter is constantly being controlled by Mrs.
Mitty. Because of Mrs. Mitty s nagging and imposing influence seen in paragraphs 3 and 4,
Walter is triggered into a daydream. As a world famous surgeon, he not only is in control of his
life, but the life of his patient. Mitty cleverly adapts to emergencies like using a fountain pen to
fix the needed surgical machinery (The). Every time he escapes, it is because of a trigger, often
through an authority figure imposing on him. In fact, it is the clear distinction between fantasy and
reality that makes escaping a theme. The heavy juxtaposition between diction of the dream world
and real life is evident. For example, in the second daydream as a surgeon, Dr. Mitty snapped at
fellow doctors and nurses to give him a fountain pen and uses fake yet complicated sounding
medical terms such as Obstreosis of the ductal tract (The). However, in the subsequent paragraph as
Walter clumsily almost hits another car in the parking lot in reality, he only muttered in response to
the valet, unable to give a definitive reply. The dramatic juxtaposition between Mitty s spectacular
fantasies and mundane reality drives the story. Thurber highlights Mitty s desperateness for action
through the drastic differences in scenes. Also, Thurber distinguishes daydreams by incorporating
much more imperative voice and literary devices compared to straight dialogue in the reality.
Thurber literally makes the fantasies more alive and interesting than boring reality. Onomatopoeia
is seen in 3 of the 5 daydreams, ta pocketa pocketa... in paragraph 1 for the hydroplane and the same
sound for the surgical machine (The). Rat tat tatting in paragraph 14 reflects the machine gun
sounds Captain Mitty heard during war. By using onomatopoeia,

The Importance Of Life In Ayn Rand s Anthem
Anthem depicts a world of the future, a collectivist dictatorship in which there is no individualism
and people are grouped together and given the same name to unify the group and strip away
individualism. The future as depicted in the novel
Anthem (1938) by Ayn Rand is an insight into what she came from in Russia, where communism
and
Stalinism a form of communism under the rule of Joseph Stalin, was the main form of government
in
Russia where all people get the same amount of everything. There are multiple connections between
the way of life where Ayn Randcame from and the way of life in her story Anthem. Ayn Rand gave

Deborah Hay s Allegorical Dance Analysis
Susan Foster examines the connection between the Deborah Hay s approach to composition and
allegorical dances from the Renaissance. Foster is a choreographer and a Distinguished Professor
in the Department of World Arts and Cultures/Dance at University of California, Los Angeles. She
studied and researched in areas including dancehistory and theory, choreographic analysis, and
corporeality. Foster acknowledges that on the surface, these styles of dance seem dissimilar;
Renaissance dancers wore extravagant costumes and the dances contained mythological content.
These dances were exotic, whereas Hay s pieces polarize Renaissance aesthetic; Foster described
her work as, quiet and meditative (101). Even so, Foster argued that these polar styles shared
similar purposes in their performances and their content stemmed from political principles... Show

Her dances articulate linkages between individual and universal patterns, but seldom can they
interject layers of social, political, or moral commentary (111). Foster blames the fact that
resemblance is no longer a dominant mode of interpretation in our society (111). Unfortunately,
this may be true to the majority of dance viewers. Even if the message is not as obvious as
allegorical meaning found in Renaissance pieces, Hay still challenges the audience to interpret it
for themselves. Her movement is more innovative and complex than the movement of her
predecessors. Maybe her exact intentions for the bird dance may not clearly resonate with every
viewer, but it is up to dancers and choreographer to engage the community in discussions to help
people better view and critique performances. There is also value in the ambiguity of allegorical
references in contemporary pieces because it leaves the viewer room to question, reflect, and

Paradise Lost Satire Essay
Paradise Lost and Paradise Regained as Epics of Political Satire under the Guise of Spiritual Epics:
A Critical Inquiry
Abstract
The paper points out the intention of Satire and inquires into the biographical, historical,
sociological, religious, economic, political and literary contexts of John Milton s Paradise Lost
(1667) and Paradise Regained (1671). It underscores the poignant example of John Dryden s verse
satire, Absalom and Achitophel (1681), which is modelled on John Milton s political epics. It also
traces the biographical, historical, sociological, religious, economic, political and literary reasons
for the outbreak of the English civil war. Thus, it points out the mutual bond that exists between
society and literature, and renders a historical reading of the literary works taken for analysis by
exploring the possible purposes with which these texts have been written and the ways in which the
meanings of these texts have changed over time owing to multiple interpretations.

Similarities And Differences Between The Primordialist And...

Prof. Woldemikael
14 October 2014
Midterm 1
1.Compare and contrast the primordialist with the instrumentalist/circumstantialist approaches that
provide an understanding of the concept of Ethnicity? What is the constructionist perspective?
According to constructionism, how do the elites view ethnicity? (Use Introduction from Hutchinson
and Smith book Ethnicity and the excerpt of chapters from Cornell and Hartmann that will be
posted on blackboard. NB: I used Cornell and Hartmann s book Ethnicity and Race for my class
lecture on approaches to ethnicity.)
In Ethnicity by John Hutchinson and Anthony Smith identify two existing camps of ethnicity:
primordialist and instrumentalist/circumstantialist. The term priomordialist in terms of ethnicity
was fathered by Edward Shils, a notable sociologist. Shils sought to differentiate various social
bonds personal, primordial, sacred and civil ties and to demonstrate how even in contemporary,
civic societies other types of social bonding existed (Hutchinson and Smith ). After Shils coined the
concept of primordialist, late anthropologist, Clifford Greetz advanced the subject and spoke of the
overpowering and ineffable quality attaching to certain kinds of tie, which the participants tended to
see as exterior, coercive, and given. Greetz further emphasized that the catalyst to an effective and
successful modern state is the drive for personal identity a fundamental basis of primordial ties. By

Dbq Treaty Of Versailles
Many factors contribute to a group of people failing to accomplish a goal, but the stubbornness of
participants often is a leading cause. The Senate s failure to ratify the Treaty of Versailles in 1919
shows this idea, due to the feud between President Woodrow Wilson and the Internationalists, and
Henry Cabot Lodge and the Reservationists. The Internationalists fully supported the passing of the
Treaty of Versailles, whereas the Reservationists believed it was necessary to change the Treaty,
specifically Article Ten. Similarly, Borah and the Irreconcilables believed that the League of Nations
was in conflict with one of the ideals the nation was founded on; to not engage in foreign
entanglements. As Senator William Borah, put it, the League... Show more content on

The Republicans resisted the Treaty because they believed that if it were to be ratified, Wilson s
prestige would soar and he might even be re elected for a third time (Bailey, 184). Thus, the
Republican Party was against the Treaty of Versailles in its original form out of fear. Wilson
fully believed that the Treaty was going to bring world peace, and regardless of this belief, the
Republican Party voted against it because of who came up with it. Wilson fought greatly for it
and said that if the Treaty failed that he would gather all the soldiers who fought in World War
One and tell them I told you before you went across the seas that this was a war against wars and
I did my best to fulfill the promise, but I am obliged to come to you in mortifications and shame
and say I have not been able to fulfill the promise, (Wilson). Wilson was willing to take blame for
the hypothetical failure of the Treaty of Versailles and the Republicans still voted against it
because they did not want Wilson s popularity to go up. Wilson believed so strongly in Article
Ten that he believed that the League of Nations would justify the United States honor and bring
peace to the world (Wilson). The belief that the Republican Party did not ratify the Treaty
because they did not want to risk another Wilson presidency is absurd. This idea perpetuates the
idea that if one person, in a position of power, strongly believes in something, then it must good.
One can apply this idea to how strongly Wilson believed in the Treaty of Versailles, yet it was not
enough to convince the Senate that the League of Nations Collective Security Covenant was a
good idea. It was not the Republican Party s fear of a third term of Wilson that caused the death of
the Treaty, but Wilson himself. The belief that if

Art Analysis Of Thomas P. Anshutz s A Rose
The image I chose for this paper is titled A Rose. The image is a painting painted in oil on a
canvas and was painted by Thomas P. Anshutz. The painting was produced in Pennsylvania during
1907. I researched this image on ARTstor by using the term realism and then I narrowed down my
search by selecting a filter to return paintings as well as setting the geography filter to North
America. The painting belongs to The Metropolitan Museum of Art s collection and is on display
in the American Wing in the gallery of Images of Woman
from 1880 to 1910.
I selected this painting because the colour contrast of the pink dress against the dark background
caught my eye. I also found the expression of the young woman to be interesting.
The painting depicts a young woman in a pink dress sitting down. The background is very dark
but three things can be made out by the viewer. Starting with the ground plane of the painting, an
orange carpet can be seen covering the entire floor. It is patterned and contains yellows, greens
and blues. The cool toned colours are darker in hue than the warm toned. Secondly, there appears
to be a cabinet or a desk lining the wall behind her. The wood of the cabinetry is carved with
detailed designs and is made of a dark stained wood. Despite the dark background a single red rose
can be seen on top of the cabinetry. The rose looks freshly picked and shows no signs of withering
in its petals. It is painted in a muted red colour that allows it to stand out on

Gonzaga Dance Critique
I was in the Gonzaga Dramatic Association Production of Hairspray this Spring, where I played
IQ, one of the Corny Kids. It was directed by Allan L Etoile, produced by Paul Buckley and
Megan Goldsmith, choreographed by Ellen Abood, and musically directed by Marika Countouris.
Many people called this one of the best shows that the GDA has put on in years, and it was a lot of
fun to be in. There were three main aspects to putting on the show, rehearsing the singing,
rehearsing the dancing, and performing.
When the cast would rehearse the singing for the show, after receiving the music and splitting up
into vocal parts, Marika Countouris would start going through the song in small sections, one
vocal part at a time. After going through the whole song once, we would run through it again,
correct any mistakes, then run in one final time. After that, it was up to the cast to remember
everything that we did and to keep doing it. We later had to go back for a few songs and relearn
them, but if everyone was willing to put in the effort and practice individually, then we wouldn t
have to relearn it and we could move on. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was a hard process because we had to learn dance moves which were popular in the 60s (when

time to choreograph because it was long, fast, and we all had to be very synchronized for to pull
of the effect Ellen Abood wanted. But once we learned everything (and reviewed and changed
everything to the satisfaction of Mr. L Etoile, which took a while) it looked really good and was a

A Research Study On Budgetary Controls Essay
Budgetary controls are a means to maintain some kind of order within a business. Of course,
there are various options when it comes to budgetary controls. This writer will be reflecting on
Ammons (1999) article, which provides a brief history of benchmarking during the 1970 s and
80 s to how it has influenced change today (Ammons, 1999). However, this writer will be
focusing on benchmarking and how such a method can be considered to be a control, yet also
has weaknesses or limitations that it may not account for. This writer will be indicating how
benchmarking applies to McDonalds Corporation and whether if it is helpful or not. Lastly, this
writer will be discussing simple balance sheets, profit and loss, and financial ratios statement
(Bateman Snell, 2013). All of the concepts mentioned play an important part in budgetary control
and apply to McDonald s corporation. As many individuals have found out through the years
having a system in place such as checks and balances, ensures that everyone is within
compliance. Budgetary Controls Being on a budget is something that everyone knows all too
well. Perhaps not the most pleasant experience in the world, however, it is necessary in our daily
lives in order to be aware of where individual limitations exist in terms of the finances. This writer
will be discussing some aspects of budgetary control, as well as benchmarking as the process to
compare and contrast one company (possible competitor) to the next. Lastly,

Francehas a somewhat similar political system to the US. They have a President, known as the President of the Republic. • 3. Buddhism Origin Origins Buddhism originated in the Ganges River Valley area in the late 6th century B.C.E. The founder, Siddhartha Gautama, was born (ca. 563 B.C.E.) in a place called Lumbini near the Himalayan foothills, and he began teaching around Benares (at Sarnath). The Buddha was a member of the kshatriya caste who abandoned his privileged life to seek the meaning of life. In his early years, he lived as a prince in his royal palace, but when Siddhartha was 29 years old, he retired to the forest and followed a spiritual life of meditation. After six years, he attained enlightenment under the Bodhi Tree in Bodh Gaya, India. Divinity/Afterlife Deities: After the Buddha died, some perceived him as a God. However, that is not what Siddhartha Gautama taught. Buddhism is sometimes called an atheistic religion, although some prefer non theistic meaning that believing in gods really isn t the point. Buddhism accepted the basic Hindu doctrines of reincarnation, karma, and the goal to escape the cycle of death and rebirth. Formula for salvation: Nirvana is the final goal of Buddhism. It is a transcendent state in which there is neither suffering, desire, nor sense of self, and the subject is released from the effects of karma and the cycle of death and rebirth. • 4. Kasey Rivera Reflection According to Ray Kroc, The quality of a leader is reflected in the standards they set for themselves . As developing leaders, do we reflected the same standards we set upon ourselves to other? I thought I knew Kasey Rivera before asking others about her. The reflection that people saw of Kasey was different from what she was seeing. On the surface, Kasey Rivera is an eighteen year old college pursuing her bachelor s degree in order to success in the future. However, there is more than just a college student in her whether it is from my perspective or others. Strength I view Kasey Rivera as a girl who as came a long way from what she was to who she is now. She is not the same student that she was from high school to this present day. The process of the construction of her true potential brings enthusiasm in Kasey. Rivera sees herself as a good leader from the different involvement throughout her life. She has been a hardworking leader and always have the words to communicate with others. Kasey Rivera is a go getter and not afraid to step out of an environment s comfort zone. Her interpersonal communicational skills and people oriented focus drives her due to her drive to improve on her leadership skills. Weakness On the other hand, Kasey Rivera has her flaws. Rivera s enthusiasm to improve herself comes with stubbornness to change. She is very sensitive to feedback she receives. The sensitive emotions do not teach her that she has to put her stubborn away. Her angry gets Kasey s best at times. She portrays herself as lay back and lazy when in reality she is not. Rivera is does not take some or all jokes at her lightly. Her short tempter gets the best of her and takes things out of proportions and simply takes everything too seriously. Kasey Rivera clear mission on the future frighten her at times. She is scared that she would not achieve her goals and dreams or disappoint others. Affiliation The idiom Birds of a feather flock together is a phrase associated with affiliation. People who have the same taste and interests are usually found together. Kasey Rivera affiliate herself with people who are dedicated in education much like herself. She is associated with leaders in the making as she is a part of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Futility Of Dreaming By John Steinbeck Sydney Pamela Larter Mr. Sweeney English ENG1D: Block 7 February 5, 2015 The Futility of Dreaming As the late Osho believed, And desires are never here and now they are non existential. They are just mental, in the mind. And they cannot be fulfilled because their very nature is to move into the future. John Steinbeck s novella, Of Mice and Men explores this theme of futile desire through various relationships and character complexes. This fictional story begins by introducing two men with a relationship built from the very foundations of love. As the novel progresses, we begin questioning innate truths. Steinbeck uses his literary prowess to entwine us within a story of loneliness, loss and morality. The characters hopes and dreams, regardless of outcome, are a mechanism of survival and a desire to lead something other than an otherwise inconsequential existence. Steinbeck presents dreams as a tool to aid the men of the ranch s contentment. They give a sense of purpose, a reward for long days of hard labor on the ranch. The idea of dreams prolonging survival and happiness is best portrayed by the dream and relationship shared by Lennie and George. Their mutual dream to live offa the fatta the lan (Steinbeck 57) brings to light their need of other s companionship to alleviate isolation and loneliness, and to make their dream seem more realistic. • 6. Figurative Language In First Death Elizabeth Bishop s poem First Death in Nova Scotia follows a small girl who is introduced to the concept of death for the first time through her cousin, Arthur. Even though the narrator is just a child who is experiencing death for this first time, she is extremely perceptive of her surroundings. The details and language the girl uses to describe the situation illustrates the difficulty the girl is having coming to terms with the idea of death, while also confusing her throughout the poem. The important concepts of death, grief, and loss of innocence are conveyed by Bishop through the encounter the girl is having with death. Bishop s theme in the poem seems to be that death can be extremely sorrowful yet hard to understand and as such, people deal with these feelings in different ways, even children. The narrator, being a small child, naturally uses distractions in her surroundings and her figurative language to start to understand death at the end of the poem. People deal with grief in different ways. As a small child, the way the narrator handles uncertainty and pain is distressing, yet also expected. She finds distractions in the furniture and decorations. The child notices a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The narrator questions at the end of the poem how could Arthur go? (50). Then in 1905, the work of the Wright brothers accumulated into the first practical aircraft that and subsequent improvements that allowed aviation technology to develop into commercial aircraft as well as war capable planes which were used in World War I. Early aviation was quite dangerous as a result of no advanced navigational technologies or automated flight systems. A great deal of human error was possible with these early aircraft. China has accomplished this feat, in part, by radically changing their policies on trade and free market interactions with other countries. During this process, China has bought approximately one hundred trillion dollars of United States debt in the form of Treasury bills, notes, bonds, and Inflation Protected Securities (Amadeo). This debt has given China leverage against the United States which has enabled China to keep the value of the United States dollar high, while keeping the value of the Chinese yuan low. Instead, China could use their debt leverage to impact foreign trade policies and more importantly domestic political policies that budget how the United States spends its tax dollars (Elwell 22). China has become a perceived threat to the U.S. economy because of the increasing trade deficit between the two countries, their ability to undercut production costs of similar products produced in the United States, and the amount of leverage that China has over the United States due to amount of money that has been lent by China. Although the United States has taken steps to close the trade deficit, such as convincing China to raise prices on their exports, there is still a considerable gap (Prasad). The United States government continues to print money that they simply can t afford, therefore, relying even more heavily on China sustaining the value of their currency. Unless the United States is able to close the trade deficit and regain control of our economic flexibility, the problems caused by foreign countries owning our debt will remain eminent. • 11. Overview of Behavioral Economics Essay Behavioural economics is the study of the effects that psychology has on the decision making of the economy. This tends to be the way that people think and feel when they are spending money on a certain good or service. The great economist Adam Smith was the first follower of this idea through his book The theory of moral sentiments which dates back to 1759. However, it took over 100 years to get a more clarified meaning of how big of a role the psychology of a buyer plays in economics. In behavioural economics there are seven basic principles which all contribute to the decision making process. Behavioural economics can explain how people will react to different situations such as times when there are no economic problems and times when... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In other words most people would prefer to pay more and buy a more expensive product thinking that by paying more it is also superior to the other products of the same category that are cheaper. However, although the phrase you get what you pay for might have some validity in it that is not always the case, due to the fact that sometimes the products that might be cheaper are just as good as the competitor brand which has a higher price. In this instant it would be logical to buy the cheaper product however most human beings would opt for the expensive product, assuming that it is of better quality than the cheaper product. On the other hand, Dan Ariely rebuffs this claim and states, We choose what we like, not what s best. Sometimes humans don t make decisions based on their preferences; instead they choose what they want and that leads to a process of rationalisation in order to get what they really want. However, they still want to give the impression that they were acting according to their preferences. Secondly, the framing effect states that presenting the same option but in a different format can change people s decisions. Plous (1993) states that, individuals have a tendency to select inconsistent choices, depending on whether the question is framed to concentrate on losses or gains. His attempt to construct the sciences on a secure metaphysical foundation was not as successful as his method of doubt applied in philosophic areas leading to a dualistic doctrine of mind and matter. His dualism was challenged by Spinoza s uncompromising assertion of the unity of matter in his Tractatus and Ethics . These laid down two distinct lines of Enlightenment thought: the moderate variety, following Descartes, Locke and Christian Wolff which sought accommodation between reform and the traditional systems of power and faith and the radical enlightenment, inspired by the philosophy of Spinoza, advocating democracy, individual liberty, freedom of expression, and eradication of religious authority The moderate variety tended to be deistic whereas the radical tendency separated the basis of morality entirely from theology. In past decades, there has been an astonishing amount of development in modern world s technology. Nanotechnology is one of them. This technology is based on nano scale and it can be used in many different areas because of its small sizes. (Metchis). However, there is a huge amount of uncertainties on the hazards of nanomaterial due to lack of research in this field in real world applications. There is a lot of things that need to be study on this technology. For this technology to be considered fully developed there is an immediate need for a balance between a free and unregulated market with some involvement from the government because both systems have its own strengths and weaknesses that will be discussed further. He jumps around different aspects of his life throughout the book, showing the reader many different sides to himself. This theme is presented through the author s technique in crafting the characterization and symbolism. J.D. Salinger develops a puzzle of a personality for Holden throughout the book, to show the complexity and multitude of sides to Holden s character. One way that J.D. Salinger shows off a side of Holden is through the characterization. An aspect of Holden that Salinger creates is his school personality. Holden comes off as a protected person. At the very beginning of Catcher in the Rye, one of the first views of the narrator is a scene of him standing on top of a hill, looking down at one of the most important games of the season for his school s team. • 18. The Greatest Horrors Of Wwii Throughout history, humans have committed many atrocities against one another. WWII was the birthplace for some of the worst crimes against humanity ever committed. Often times, we view the United States as a hero in WWII; as a force that fought on the side of good. However, the United States is not an exception when it comes to detestable acts in WWII. Aside from Hiroshima and Nagasaki, one of our worst acts as a superpower came during Japanese war crime investigations after the war was over. During the trials of Unit 731, a deal was made with Ishii Shiro that the government is still trying to cover up. First, it is important to review Unit 731 and the U.S cover up so that we may address more detailed issues concerning this topic. We will then explore the government statements on the issue of medical and military advances as a result of the deal, and explore evidence that provides a contrary conclusion. One of the greatest horrors of WWII, Unit 731, is often overlooked when talking about WWII atrocities, perhaps because it is not taught in the secondary education curriculum. Unit 731 was a top secret Japanese medical unit during the cold war that focused on producing biological and bacteriological weapons during WWII. While biological and bacteriological are, by many, considered to be inhumane in nature, Unit 731 went even further by partaking in human experimentation in order to achieve greater knowledge about these weapons, and to gain knowledge about anything that might ... It is religious as its tone mentions its concern with heaven, asceticism and also the progress of the soul all through out the sonnet. The idea that the poet was trying to convey to his audience is that the body exists at the expense of the soul, so that adorning or worrying about its beauty can only be accomplished at the souls expense. The poem is an internal monologue, which makes it first person point of view. This helps the audience understand that he is talking to himself and whom he is talking about. We can understand through this negative tone that the poet or the earth in this sonnet is a bad place and we then link sinful to ungodliness, which is what the whole poem is about. Another example of metaphor used in this poem is found in the second quatrain; fading mansion which is used the represent our body. This metaphor explains that our souls are slowly dying and becoming very dull and fading as we do not live our lives like we are suppose to, according to the poet. In line 13 so shalt thou feed on death , gives us the audience a thought that we must constantly be thinking about death and also as a part of human nature we ponder about life. In other words, for this metaphor, we as humans feed on death, which in turns feeds on us. Why so large a cost, having so short a lease this lease refers to life, which is short as we as humans are not immortal. This metaphor asks why we as humans put so much effort into life when death comes so quickly. Closing couplet: The metaphor from the 3rd quatrain is continued and expanded in the closing couplet. It finishes from the 1st quatrain of the starving person within the mansion and then turns into irony of the idea that death feeds on humans. • 28. Dna And Sequence Of Dna Essay DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) is a self replicating nucleic acid that carries the genetic information in cells in a double helix structure. The 2 stranded helix is composed of 4 nucleotides, Adenine (A), Thymine (T), Guanine (G), and Cytosine (C). The base pairs only form between A and T connected by 2 Hydrogen bonds and G and C connected by 3 hydrogen bonds. Foremost DNA wrapping comes about as DNA wraps around protein called histones. These combined loops of DNA and protein are called nucleosomes and the nucleosomes are packaged into a thread called chromatin. Chromosomes are made up of packaged chromatin and can be seen in the nucleus of dividing cells and form around DNA replication. Furthermore, DNA replication begins with 2 DNA strands being separated by the helicase enzyme. Single stranded DNA binding proteins attach to these strands to keep them from re connecting. 1 DNA strand begins to encode called the leading strand, which Forms from 5 to 3 end using DNA polymerase 3 the primary polymerase. The other strand is referred to as the lagging strand, which presents problems because it has to form from the 5 to 3 end as well. As continuous replication of the leading strand continues the lagging strand forms in pieces called Okazaki fragments. RNA primase forms as RNA primer and polymerase III lay down new DNA. Although Immigrants have played a great deal into the influence of culture in our country, and The underlying problem boils down to birthright citizenship the guarantee of citizenship to the children of illegal immigrants who were born on US soil. Children born on U.S. soil to Illegal Immigrants should not become U.S. citizens. For the language within the clause of the 14th amendment has become tremendously distorted of its original intent allowing illegal immigrants to take advantage of American citizen rights. In this debate, I will be discussing the true intent behind the 14th amendment and clarifying the meaning behind the words, that rule the law of the land. The original intent of the clause then changes what is indicative of what this dispute is truly about. The notion of the original intent of the constitution should be what governs who applies to the rights of an American citizen. While noteing the presence of a U.S. born child should not be used as an excuse not to enforce the law. There needs to be a revision in the notion that you can self immigrate or claim jurisdiction because you happen to walk into the United States. Being born on a piece of land shouldn t magically make you an American. It s a culture, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 35. The Importance Of Perspective During The Renaissance Era To understand the importance of perspective during the Renaissance era, one must understand the importance of art during the Renaissance era. Art was associated with religion, but was also a way to depict what is and what was. Perspective came to rise during the Italian Renaissance for a myriad of reasons, but mainly in creating a sense of realism and allowing one to manipulate space. The utilization of perspective allowed the viewers to have a more intimate relationship with items of worship in a sacred setting. Many paintings were closely tied to sacred paintings as an item to assist worship or to retell the narrative of the Bible. Moreover, the Renaissance was also a time of fascination with realism, exampled by Vasari s praise of the bare torso in the Piero della Francesca as perfection as an anatomic study . Art is also complicated in that it grounds its persuasiveness in the truth of optical experience (Pardo, Giotto and the Thing Not Seen). The addition of perspective allows sacred paintings to appear three dimensional, adding a complexity to worshippers as it seems as the bible narrative or the person of worship (Mary, Christ, etc.) is appearing out of the painting directly to the worshipper. This interaction causes the viewer to feel more intimate in their worship as they felt that they had a genuine, almost tangible, connection with the actual religious figures. Perspective in practice is further shown with the possibility that the use of perspective in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As a world famous surgeon, he not only is in control of his life, but the life of his patient. Mitty cleverly adapts to emergencies like using a fountain pen to fix the needed surgical machinery (The). Every time he escapes, it is because of a trigger, often through an authority figure imposing on him. In fact, it is the clear distinction between fantasy and reality that makes escaping a theme. The heavy juxtaposition between diction of the dream world and real life is evident. For example, in the second daydream as a surgeon, Dr. Mitty snapped at fellow doctors and nurses to give him a fountain pen and uses fake yet complicated sounding medical terms such as Obstreosis of the ductal tract (The). However, in the subsequent paragraph as Walter clumsily almost hits another car in the parking lot in reality, he only muttered in response to the valet, unable to give a definitive reply. The dramatic juxtaposition between Mitty s spectacular fantasies and mundane reality drives the story. Thurber highlights Mitty s desperateness for action through the drastic differences in scenes. Also, Thurber distinguishes daydreams by incorporating much more imperative voice and literary devices compared to straight dialogue in the reality. Thurber literally makes the fantasies more alive and interesting than boring reality. Foster is a choreographer and a Distinguished Professor in the Department of World Arts and Cultures/Dance at University of California, Los Angeles. Foster acknowledges that on the surface, these styles of dance seem dissimilar; Renaissance dancers wore extravagant costumes and the dances contained mythological content. Even if the message is not as obvious as allegorical meaning found in Renaissance pieces, Hay still challenges the audience to interpret it for themselves. Her movement is more innovative and complex than the movement of her predecessors. Wilson fully believed that the Treaty was going to bring world peace, and regardless of this belief, the Republican Party voted against it because of who came up with it. Wilson fought greatly for it and said that if the Treaty failed that he would gather all the soldiers who fought in World War One and tell them I told you before you went across the seas that this was a war against wars and I did my best to fulfill the promise, but I am obliged to come to you in mortifications and shame and say I have not been able to fulfill the promise, (Wilson).
