Sickle Cells Anaemia And The Sickle Cell Trait
UNDERSTANDING SICKLE CELL ANAEMIAAND THE SICKLE CELL TRAIT
Introduction
Sickle Cell Anaemia is the commonest of most severe form of Sickle Cell Disease. SCD is a collective
term for hereditary haemoglobinopathies caused by the inheritance of a mutated haemoglobin allele
(sickle haemoglobin HbS) in the erythrocytes. The HbS mutation is caused by a Valine to Glutamic
acid substitution at the 6th amino acid of the β globin chain. (Harmon et al., 2012)The first known
case of SCD in the western world was recorded in 1910 in the United States, when a 20 year old black
student from Grenada presented abnormal erythrocytes upon examination of his blood. This can now
be recognised as the major characteristic of SCD where the erythrocytes assume the shape of a sickle
when deprived of oxygen in vivo hence the name of the disease. Although SCD is most prevalent in
individuals of African ancestry, the disease is also existent in people from Meditterenean
Europe,Hispanic, Midle Eastern and Indian Asian backgrounds. The explanation of the regional
specificity of SCD is the correlation between the geographical locations where Falciparum Malaria
was once endemic and high incidents of Haemoglobin S mutations in those particular regions.
However, the occurrence of SCD disease in regions that have no known history of Falcipurum Malaria
can be attributed to migration. In Britain for example, the first incidents of SCD were recorded after
the postwar immigration of the non white population

How Does Prospero Change In The Tempest
In Shakespeare s play, The Tempest , Prospero, the main character, is the rightful Duke of Milan. He
found refuge on a distant island after his brother, Antonio, seized Prospero s title and homeland. These
events and experiences of being exiled advance character to become isolated and enriched at the same
time. As a comic hero, Prospero start off as being frustrated and vengeful due to his separation from
his title and homeland, but is later refined due to those experiences.
Antonio s dethroning of Prospero is not only the reason why Prospero is alienated but it also is a great
example about the theme of betrayal that is prominent in the book. Antonio s betrayal in particular,
serves as the source of conflict for the play. Prospero creates ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Prospero s intentions throughout the play was to seek out vengeance towards his brother and all those
who helped him in his betrayal. Through the work of Ariel, Prospero was able to capture those he
shipwrecked but decides to forgive them. He also forgives Caliban after plotting to kill him while
serving another master, these acts of change are key to the improvement and empowerment Prospero
learns after being on the island. The is a growth and arch shown about the character as he states, The
rarer action is in virtue than in vengeance. Prospero also shows enrichment of character when he sets
Ariel free after commanding him to make smooth sailing upon the return to Naples and Milan,
contrasting to the beginning of the play when Prospero seems ungrateful about the service of Ariel.
The problem Prospero had that paved the way to him being exiled, was his obsession with studying
his art/magic. It is through his experience on the island where he finally comes to realize that the
source and self improvement that he needed to make was giving up his magic. This is symbolized by
the throwing away of his books and his plea to the audience to release him from his bands . By giving
up his magic, the reason he couldn t be an affective Duke, shows how his alienation on the island
benefited him by allowing him to focus on his role and duty as

Strategic Piece Of Middle East Peace
Strategic Piece to Middle East Peace Over the past thousand years, Oman has occupied a key strategic
space in the Middle East stratum. With its vast mountain ranges, desert terrain, and steep cliffs along
the coast, Oman over the years has proven to be very difficult to invade. This has allowed Oman to
repel the majority of attacks from foreign militaries and maintain their sovereignty. The Southern and
Eastern coastline of the country represents the key that makes Oman so important to the strength of
the Middle East. Oman is a major piece to the peace in the Middle East. Oman lies in the southeast
corner of the Arabian Peninsula right on the Tropic of Cancer latitude line (International 1). Yemen,
Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates border Oman from the southeast, west, and the north.
Oman also claims many islands in the Arabian Sea and in the Strait of Hormuz off Oman s northern
tip. Similar to its surrounding nations, Oman has a mountain range that spans the country. The Hajar
mountain range begins at the north west tip and extends down its western border to the southwest,
near Yemen (International 1). The Omanis compare The Hajar to a human backbone, for it forms a
great arc much like the human skeleton. The Interior of Oman is mostly sand dunes, rocks, and gravel,
which is very similar to the entire Middle East region (International 3). Oman s coastline stretches
1,700 km from North to South. Low hills and wastelands with little vegetation is what fill

Loss Of Innocence In Heart Of Darkness
Loss of innocence and corruption of man are two of the main 20th century themes demonstrated in
British modernism in the characters Kurtz in Conrad s Heart of Darkness, the British Officer in Orwell
s Shooting an Elephant , and Trevor in Greene s The Destructors . Corruption of man and loss of
innocence is portrayed in Heart of Darkness; Kurtz has everything he wants. He has power, a mistress,
and loyal followers, which are the savages of the Congo. Marlow, however, was a different person
before exploring the Congo. Not only is corruption of man and loss of innocence in Heart of Darkness
but also in Shooting an Elephant , the British officer is hated throughout his community and when he

The story begins in a hollow town in crumbles as an aftermath of WWI. In all the mess, a beautiful
home stands alone (Greene 4). An old lonely man lives in this house. 12 young boys come by and are
very jealous of his home so T, the new leader, gets a tour. After he comes out, the gang devises a plan
to destroy it (1). They d never know. We d do it from inside. I ve found a way in. He said with a sort of
intensity, We d be like worms, don t you see, in an apple. When we came out again there d be nothing
there, no staircase, no panels, nothing but just walls, and then we d make the walls fall down somehow
(Greene 5). That was the plan, the boys decided to destroy the house. Keep in mind, these boys are
only 6 13 years of age. Innocent little boys, who people only see as little boys not destroyers of a
beautiful creation. The war transformed the children s hate in the world and corrupted their vision of
humanity. Boys destroy an old innocent man s home out of jealousy, and are not even the slightest bit
remorseful. Loss of innocence and corruption of man are very pronounced themes in this 20th century
short story.
In Shooting an Elephant , loss of innocence and corruption of man are shown in the British officer.
The officer is hated amongst his community. There is also an elephant hated too for killing an innocent

Comparing Let America Be America Again And I Hear America...
In the poems Let American be America Again and I hear America Singing they are both dreams, but
for different reasons. In I hear America singing Walt Whitman portrays America in an amazing light
making people want to go this dream like utopian country. In Let America be America Again it
portrays America as a land of false dreams and wants it to be the dream it hoped it be. It also tells of
the corrupt, dark, crooked side of America. It also mentions how it should never have been like this.
Now in I hear America singing it shows the pure, lively, and beautiful side of America. Both are
dreams but they are dreams for different reasons. In Langston Hughes Let America be America again
America was a dream for everyone. The dream, however,

The Importance Of Still Life
Everything you ve gone through in your life has made you into the person you are today. Don t hate on
the past or the people that have been left there. You are stronger because of all the challenges and
circumstances that you ve endured. Be thankful for everything because as you become stronger...life
becomes easier Quoted by Robert Tew. Robert Tew explained in this quote that someone or something
has made you the person you are today. Whether it be family, friends, someone who has inspired you
or personal experiences we all have reasons as to what made us the way we are. I recently made a still
life representing what made me the person I am today. If you looked at it you might be confused about
the items so I will be explaining the significants of the items and why it made me the person I am
today. At an early age, with the help of my family, I started to form into the person I am today. My
family is a big part of my life and has been since I could remember. If you look at my still life you can
see a picture of my family and I in the left corner. In the picture is my mom Tammy, my stepdad Tom,
my sister Felicia, and Donnie which is Felicia s boyfriend of about 5 years. This picture was taken a
couple years ago on vacation to Florida. My family is a significant part of my life because they all
have been through everything with me. I may disappoint them sometimes but I know at the end of the
day that they love me and want the best thing for me. Since I was five years old

The Legalization Of Euthanasia In The Fault In Our Stars...
Throughout John Green s novel, The Fault in Our Stars, we learn that Hazel and Augustus have a deep

form of illness that cannot be cured, therefore she will be dying at any point. Since the people that are
extremely ill, there comes a decision to make. The decisions that the patient has to decide is to
continue suffering or Euthanasia. Euthanasia is mostly an illegal thing throughout the United States,
but, however there are only five states and a single county in New Mexico that actually legalized it.
Though Euthanasia is not very ethical in most states, it should become legal in all fifty states because

I think it might be one of those processes that take a while to get unified in all fifty states, for example
Gay Marriage. I am not saying pick a side or what not, my point is that process took many years to

live it the way you do, but if you cannot decide to do it, then fine. Every person in this world was
brought into this world for a reason, whether you are smart or dumb, you have a reason why you are
here today, so go out and do something amazing while you can because life is all about doing things
you love to do. With the beliefs of the Roman Catholic Church and a Christian s perspective, different
types of costs impacting the GDP (Gross Domestic Product), and the pain suffering from a terminally

Fisher Price Company Overview Fisher Price is a children s toy company, who is owned by the parent
company, Mattel. In 2015, Fisher Price posted annual worldwide sales of $1.85 billion, which was up
7% over the prior year. (Mattel, 2016) With Fisher Price being a leader in the global toy market, there
is a significant opportunity and pressure to unveil and produce new and innovative toys throughout the
year, especially in the fourth quarter, which encompasses the holiday season. Fisher Price is known for
toys geared towards younger children, usually from birth to age 8. While they have a wide range of

Product Launch With evolving trends, Fisher Price needs to stay ahead of the competition and develop
new and relevant toys to draw attention to their brand. One way to do this is to unveil exclusive toy
sets for specific retailers. These are usually larger sets with more pieces or new color of an existing
toy at a great value than what is offered for the general competition. As an example, Fisher Price
exclusively manufactured a pink toy medical kit for Toys R Us. This not only draws more customers
into Toys R Us but it brings awareness and calls out the Fisher Price brand. With respect to the product

Theme And Meaning Of Peter Pan
Theme and Meaning Peter Pan is a timeless tale in which transcends time and culture through its
underlying themes. Each of the characters fulfilled their roles tremendously, and was able to bring
forth these themes in their own unique ways. The most apparent, from the beginning, is the emphasis
of youthfulness. Peter is the main embodiment of this theme, given he does not physically age. From
the beginning, his role was that to entice Wendy and her siblings to journey with him to Never never
land. What this magical place represents is a state of remaining youthful forever, and not letting
society conform one s beliefs. The concept of age is masked by Peter s stubbornness to not conform to
such. For example, Wendy wants to get married and have kids one day; Peter does not. Wendy wants
this because she is taught from a young age that this is a common normality of life. Peter refusing to
stay at the house with the other lost boys, in the end, showed that such normality does not have to be
one s choice. This theme was conveyed by the play being both a comedy and a musical. These two
forms of drama brought with it both wittiness and purity, both of which are a direct correlation
youthfulness. And the character s ability to sing with clarity helped boost such a message. The role
such clarity played is relevant to American culture, today. In order for people to listen, in a society
with so much information, a message must be clear and transparent. Although it is not necessary

My Life Is My School
I was born May 28, 2003 in Dubuque, IA. And a major thing in my life is my schools. So, let me tell
you about those. The first school I ever went to was Early Learners where I learned the basics. But of
course in preschool you don t really get graded or anything. After all, it is pre school. But the second
school I went to was Table Mound. Over by Casey s and all those places. Table Mound was definitely
a big place for me. Back then anyways, I looked at it like it was a huge school. There I also had to
move because I was outside the school district, and we moved into a trailer. And the trailer was really
nice on the inside, and it had 2 bathrooms so I didn t really care. Next I went to Audubon, where I
moved back to my old house, where I still live now. Then I went to Thomas Jefferson Middle School.
And I like this place a lot. I like how we don t have to stay in one class, and I also like how we can
have our phones out at lunch. And I think I don t get as mad in class because if I get frustrated with a
teacher, I don t have to stay with them the whole day. And that s why I like middle school the most.
Most of my friends think I m funny but that s because they re easy to make laugh. And so am I, I
guess, but I think it s a good thing. In the future I want to be a computer programmer, like a person
that makes games. Or an electrician, but that s really only because it pays well, and a lot of my family
members were electricians too. Computer programmer because I play a

Tire pressure is important. If your tires aren t properly inflated, steering may be problematic and fuel
mileage may decrease. Similarly, overly inflated tires can also cause issues like blowouts or punctures.
And because big rigs are consistently exposed to different environments and surfaces, it s smart to
check tire pressure regularly particularly if there s a long journey on your agenda.
3. Brake performance is essential. Even the smallest sign of distress could spell trouble, so it s
important to address minor issues before they turn into something serious. Whether it s a squealing
noise, a vibrating sensation, or a lack of sensitivity to your touch, brake problems should never be
overlooked. Regular maintenance ensures that your brakes stay in great condition.
4. The more you drive, the more your rig needs maintenance. Big rigs can be serviced as they cross the
threshold of certain mileage points, so that they re consistently kept in optimal condition for your
travels. From replacing oil filters to checking lights to inspecting the engine, no element is left
untouched during semi truck maintenance. It s vital to stick with a schedule that keeps your semi truck

Michigan Basketball History
Michigan basketball is in rare territory as a consistent inside presence is the missing piece to the
Wolverines postseason success puzzle.
Despite earning a 2016 NCAA Tournament bid, the Wolverines didn t do enough in postseason play to
satisfy the Michigan faithful s desire to enjoy a deep March run. Michigan fans are well aware of the
Wolverines wild success in the tournament preceding this year s first round loss to Notre Dame.
Arguably the best backcourt in the nation in 2013, Tim Hardaway Jr. and Trey Burke led Michigan to

Michigan has a few candidates to fill the void in the middle. Mark Donnal showed flashes of promise
this season, and given that he ll be a senior next season, Donnal could help the Wolverines. Ricky
Doyle, a 6 foot 9 sophomore, didn t exactly scream breakout potential after averaging 3.8 points and
two rebounds per game in an expanded role this season.
Moritz Wagner, a freshman from Berlin, Germany, played an extremely limited role during the
Wolverines regular season. However, in Michigan s upset win over the Indiana Hoosiers on March 11,
Wagner went 2 for 2 from the free throw line and 3 for 3 from the field, including a three. In the
Wolverines First Four matchup against Tulsa, Wagner again was perfect from the field (2 for 2), while
grabbing eight boards and blocking four shots. Wagner showed enthusiasm and fire throughout
season, even from the bench. The team first mentality is something many young players lack, and it
will serve Wagner well in the future. Expect to see a major increase in minutes and productivity for
the energetic freshman next

John Locke Positive Rights
The premise that the right to life is a positive right simply means that the state has an obligation to
keep people from hurting or infringing others right to life by providing or making something available
to them. Hence, the right to life is a positive right because it needs to be a protected right.
2. John Locke (Natural Rights/Law of Nature): John Locke opposes the premise that the right to life is
a positive right.
A. The argument that Locke advocated was that his Law of Nature governs people and that is allows
all men to live in a state of liberty.

value of performance. This was a highly calculated risk that BMW took as this strategy deviated
highly from their core values and they faced the risk of losing the loyal customer base who believed in
the tagline promoting BMW as the ultimate driving machine. When conducting a feedback from the
customers in US, they found that almost 75% 5 were not interested in buying the product. Although,
the new look might threaten to alienate its current customer base, it has not had any damaging impact

Persuasive Essay On Legalization Of Marijuana
Marijuana or cannabis has many names, and more specific names can give you information about a
specific strain of marijuana such as blue dream and Sour Diesel. In most cases when speaking about
marijuana, generally it is often referred to one of its more vague names or slang, such a pot, ganja,

rewards that come with it. Some states and cities in the US have legalized and regulated this plant
which also helps fuel those economies. Places such as Colorado and Washington state have benefited
from the regulations on the plants, but this may also lead other states or cities to adopt similar laws

Marijuana use in the United States can be dated back to the 17th century. At this time farmers were

the team, I tallied 10 goals in 8 games and started to gain recognition. I was immediately approached
by other club teams wanted me to play for them such as the Jr. Kings and the Jr. Ducks. I felt on top of
the world, like a just won a Super Bowl. A short while after a few more games, I had an interview with
the Jr. Kings. I remember the day I walked into the interview very clearly, it was raining outside yet
the sun was out. Throughout the interview, the coach asked a series of questions such as, would I be a
good fit on the team and if I had ever considered of playing for them. Overall, he asked many
questions about me and my hockey career but what stood out the most, was when he told me I had
such potential that he could see me playing for the kings.
After the interview, I took the idea of playing in the NHL to heart. I know a lot of people can lie and

Jonah Quotes From 12 Unlikely Heroes
Lessons about God As A.B. Simpson once stated, All that God requires of [his children] is an
opportunity to show [them] what He can do. God is an omnipotent being, but some people doubt his
power; nevertheless, God will ensure that His plans are carried out despite the challenges placed
before Him. In the book Twelve Unlikely Heroes, John MacArthur retells the story of Jonah and
explains how God used him to deliver the Ninevites, regardless of his prejudices against them. Jonah s
story conveys three important lessons about God, but there are other remarkable biblical characters
which contribute to those lessons as well. The first lesson that the story of Jonah accentuates is that
God is the sovereign Creator, which is a lesson that can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jonah, for instance, is notorious for his rebellious thoughts and actions against the Ninevites for their
wickedness. Even though God punished Jonah by forcing him to undergo three days in the belly of a
fish, his myopic attitude toward the Ninevites remained unchanged. He despised them so much, that
he would have preferred death over [their] salvation (UH, Jonah 122). Jonah s exasperation with the
Ninevites was rooted in the fact that God would give them mercy as long as they repented; He knew
that God could rescue any sinner, but Jonah wanted nothing to do with divine pardon being extended
to Israel s hostile enemies (UH, Jonah 122). Although Jonah strongly opposed giving the Ninevites
salvation, God used the rebellious prophet to bring [the] rebellious people to faith in himself (UH,
Jonah 124). With the Lord s help, Jonah eventually approached the sinful people with diffidence and
helped hundreds of thousands of them gain salvation from God.
The book of Jonah communicates that God is an all powerful Creator, Judge, and Savior, which is also
conveyed in the books of some of His other children. Through their stories, it is evident that the Lord
overcomes all obstacles in order to offer mercy to those who deserve it and to carry out His plan. He
never fails those who trust in Him, because everything He does is for their own benefit, even though it
may not seem that way at the

Argumentative Essay On Indiana House Elections
With the 2016 general election coming up, the citizens of Indiana will be electing their members of
Congress to represent the state and its districts. The Indiana Senate race that has received a lot of
attention is the race between Todd Young and Evan Bayh. An Indiana House race that has been
receiving a lot of attention is the District 9 race between Shelli Yoder and Trey Hollingsworth. When
analyzing these races, a wide variety of factors, such as demographics, money, and scandals should to
be taken into consideration. In terms of the Senate race in Indiana, there have been fourteen shifts in
party power in that particular seat over time (Ballotpedia). But in general, Indiana has been a
Republican leaning state throughout much of its history. In 2004, Evan Bayh (D) was elected to the
Indiana Senate. In 2010, Dan Coats (R) was elected to the seat. In the very next election, Joe Donnelly
(D) took over the seat. Dan Coats retook the seat in 2014 and is now stepping down to make room for
either Evan Bayh (D) or Todd Young (R) (Indiana Secretary of State).
Evan Bayh originally had a six to seven point lead over Todd Young in the polls, but policy issues
played a part in negating that lead (Monmouth). For example, on the issue of ... Show more content on

As mentioned previously, the state of Indiana is a solid Republican state. For the Senate race, Indiana
being mostly red already gave Todd Young and Trey Hollingsworth somewhat of a head start. Evan
Bayh s name recognition from his previous term as governor and senator of Indiana is not strong
enough to overcome the accusations that he was using his time in office to explore other career
options. Additionally, the demographics are not in favor of the Democratic candidate in the Senate
race and certainly not in the 9th District race. There is definitely not enough of a minority factor to
drive up the votes for the Democratic

William Faulkner s The Giving Tree
The Giving tree is about how a little boy would come to this tree so he could have some fun. The little
boy loved the tree and the tree loved the boy as well. But as the boy grew older he needed the tree
more and more. The boy wanted some money so he asked the tree for some money but she didn t have
any, so she offered him her apples for him to sell. The boy/man would always come to the tree for
help, but he would never give the tree anything.
The main idea is that the boy is selfish. The tree represents a parent and how the boy would go to his
parents for help and the parent does anything in their power to help. The boy wanted a house but the
tree couldn t give him a house but she gave him her branches. After all of those years he has not ...

The actions that the tree showed have proven that the tree is completely selfless. The tree is completely

Misconceptions About Wolves
Many have heard of the famous fairytale, Little Red Riding Hood, in which wolves are portrayed as
evil beings, that have no intention of affection for humans but instead, the instant thought of hunger,
of devouring the individual whole. This story makes one wonder whether wolves are lovely or evil
creatures. In Idaho, West America, a lengthy debate is currently being battled out about the gray
wolves which now remain in small numbers, reported as 1600. These wolves according to some
groups need to be secured, with other opinions that suggest otherwise. Some stakeholders who are
situated in the same location and are in favour of the wolves, include the Nez Pearce Indians, wolf
conservationists and the Defenders of Wildlife. On the other hand, anti wolf campaigners, the
Ranchers, and hunters oppose the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When one thing disappears, everything else also falls apart which can be applied to the situation of
wolves. If wolves were to become extinct, the direction to which they are heading, the ecosystem will
appear to be unbalanced. Nonetheless, the life of wolves should be seen as a priority. There s no doubt
that the wolf comes first because you can t just sacrifice a species of life because it s comfortable for
your civilization or it s comfortable for your frame of mind. Ron Gillette refers to the gray wolves as
Canadian wolves, They re an exotic species. They do not belong here. Just by using the phrase

Whenever he steps a foot out of his house, a weapon is carried along with him for his safety he

Jian They still haunt him. The memories from a long, long time ago, before the holy grounds of
Promised Land were painted crimson red and his hands were stained with the blood of his beloved
brethren. He can remember the peaceful times, albeit the longer he gazes back into the very depths of
his past, the worse the sinner feels and an unbearable agony tugs at his shattered heart, playing an
unknown melody that is sorrow. The immensely familiar, yet unknown voices call out for him every
now and then, coaxing him to not grieve over what had happened for there was no way he could
change his reckless doings. But how.. how could he, possibly stop mourning, or forget? No matter
how many times he d tried to forget, all of his attempts were fruitless. He believes he is cursed to have
the story of the very end of Heaven carved into his memory as if it were a cold stone. After all, there
was no way he could forget that fatal decision he made the very last day he had seen his beloved ones
before he was considered a traitor and a murderer in their eyes. The first time he had sinned. It feels
like tomorrow when the Great Gates of Heaven were considered another word for home, family,
where everyone was welcomed with open arms and was granted safety, comfort, warmth, love

Upper Three Forks In Painted Woods Case Study
The upper Three Forks in Painted Woods has shown poor oil production and low oil saturation
compared to the surrounding acreage. Previous assessments suggested that the primary cause for this
anomaly was due to the Pronghorn acting as a barrier for primary migration from the lower Bakken
shale into the upper Three Forks. Current assessment indicates that, while the Pronghorn is a tight and
fine grained rock, it is not entirely impermeable. The Pronghorn is believed to only partially inhibit
primary migration, and is not the primary factor for the poor performance across Painted Woods. The
lower Bakken shale thins drastically across the Painted Woods region. This thinning greatly reduces
the amount of hydrocarbons generated across the region. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
PRONGHORN AS A PRIMARY MIGRATION BARRIER Based off of MICP data collected from
core (Figure 19), the Pronghorn siltstone has a permeability on par with the upper and lower Bakken
shales. The lack of permeability is supported by lithological analysis indicating a clay content of up to
50 % (Figure 20) across the Painted Woods asset. The low permeability and high clay content shows
that the Pronghorn does have the potential to occlude primary migration of hydrocarbons from the
lower Bakken shale into the underlying upper Three Forks. However, this only has a minimal effect on
the overall potential of the upper Three Forks as a whole. Saturation trends in the Pronghorn and the
upper Three Forks (Figure 21), indicates that hydrocarbons are being occluded from the lower Bakken
into the Three Forks, but not entirely. Oil saturation gradually decreases from the top of the Pronghorn
to the base indicating less hydrocarbons are being pushed into the upper Three Forks. However, the oil
saturation never reach 0% and only decreases to approximately 60 to 70 % water saturation. The oil
saturation then gradually increases from the top of the Three Forks to the top of the first claystone.
This trend is observed throughout all the wells within Painted Woods, independent to the thickness of
the Pronghorn. Even though there is less volume of generated lower Bakken hydrocarbons, oil is still
able to be transmitted through the Pronghorn across Painted Woods. However, the quantities
transmitted are likely less compared to other

Title: Sherman s March to the Sea Name: Institution: Name of Facilitator: Course Name and Number:

of the Union army named William Tecumseh Sherman helped lead a campaign that started in Georgia
go the sea in Savannah, and finish to help aid the main forces in the Carolinas. During this march the
soldiers lived off the land and the Southern people s food and burning anything that could be of
military use to the South s forces. This march helped decisively end the war, and struck many blows to
the South s forces and its people s morale, that Sherman s army could march unopposed through the

Other soldiers gave up sleeping, when it got to cold, to sit in front of roaring fires (Kennett, 1995).
The wind in the area sometimes combined with the rains and the cold air, nearly knocking over the
tents of the soldiers and making them freeze into the night. During Sherman s March to the Sea, he
made a stop at Georgia s then capital, Milledgeville. Sherman arrived in Milledgeville encountering
virtually no resistance from Confederate troops; for they were off defending Macon and Augusta and
various key bridges across rivers and gorges. The Georgia governor had fled the town and took
anything of value from the Executive Mansion, shortly before Sherman arrived. Sherman took note of
the bare house and its slim pickings and slept inside along with some equipment and other soldiers for
the next few days. News of Sherman s capture of Georgia s capital helped break apart the will of the
Confederate soldiers. After Sherman s short rest he continued his march to Savannah where he could
replenish his supplies. Sherman arrived on the outskirts of Savannah on December 11, 1864. The city
was occupied by Confederate troops, and they had the city locked down. To help seize the city
Sherman would have to capture Fort McAllister to be able to safely advance to Savannah. Sherman
sends 4,000 infantry to seize the fort. After a very brief struggle the fort is seized and is in control by
Sherman, and this fort gives him

Asher Lev s Crucifixion Paintings as an Act of Disrespect Towards His Parents
Asher Lev paints against the values of his family and community. He disregards Jewish traditions and
observance by pursuing his passion for art. His individuality has him disobeying the Rebbe, the
mashphia, his mythic ancestor as well as his parents. Asher does not intend for his artwork to be
harmful, but that they convey truths and feelings. Yet, the Brooklyn Crucifixions cause shame for his
observant Jewish parents. In that way, he disrespects their teachings and wishes. He challenges the
Jewish belief on modesty in creating nude works and disturbs the Hasidic community in his Christian
imagery. Worst of all is the reflection of the life like representation ... Show more content on

When his father sees the paintings in the New York museum, he is in such extreme shock and anger
that he says nothing to Asher but gives him a look. His face wore an expression of awe and rage and

does not want to believe that it is his son for no son of Aryeh Lev could be that disrespectful.
Asher deeply cares for his mother and does not want to upset her, but he disobeys her anyway. At four
years old he is encouraged by her to draw pretty things , which is in contrast to Jacob Kahn s advice to
draw with passion. Asher s mother already suspects that there would be something in the Museum that
Asher would be afraid to reveal to them. Asher looks at his mother and takes her by the hand to

parents are because of suffering and shame that is inflicted from his disrespect towards them.

the community. The community s reactions compile of many instances of silences and whispers in the

Glory And Centerfield Sound Devices
There are many different types of poems. All poems have a meaning to them, and those meanings are
all unique to each and every poem. Much like poems, songs have very many types and genres and
different meanings. Glory , a poem by Yusef Komunyakaa, and Centerfield , a song by John Fogerty,
are very similar to each other. Both poems and songs use poetic language such as figurative language
and sound devices. These help the poem or song flow better, sound more interesting, and keep the
readers or listeners attention. Glory is a poem about young men who use baseball as an escape from
their long, hard work days. When the men got done with work, they would go to an old baseball field
and have fun and connect playing baseball. Although the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These similarities are not only the topic, but also the uses of sound devices, figurative language, and
imagery. Both the poem and the song are centered around baseball. They both mention former
baseball legends, but Glory uses them to describe the ethnicity, while Centerfield uses the names to
add some context to the song. Both use sound devices such as consonance. In Glory an example of a
consonance is Working knockout shifts daybreak (2) and in Centerfield Don t say it ain t so, you know
the time is now (15). While Glory focuses more on the players and fans, Centerfield focuses more on
the game itself. In Glory it centers in on the players and their agile nature and the way they play the
game. It depicts the fans cheering them on and the umpires dancing about calling strikes on batters.
Centerfield is more about the writer playing the game and competing to play the position, centerfield.
Another difference between the two is the context in which the game is being played. The young men
in Glory had just gotten done with a long, hard day of work and use the game as an escape from all of
that work. It helps them stay motivated for the week and live life in a better state of mind. Centerfield
is not as much as an escape for the writer, but more as a game that he has known and loved. He is
trying to convince his coach to put him in centerfield, and he feels that he has proven himself to be

Examples Of Categorisation
Categorisation is not a matter to be taken lightly. There is nothing more basic than categorisation to
our thought, perception, action and speech. Every time we see something as kind of thing, for
example, a tree, we are categorising. Whenever we reason about kinds of things (...) we are employing
categories. Whenever we intentionally perform any kind of action (...) we are using categories .
(Lakoff 1987: 6)
We categorise all physical objects and motor activities we come across in our everyday life and we
make decisions based on those categories. Without the ability to categorise, we could not function at
all, either in the physical world or in our social and intellectual lives. An understanding of how we
categorise is central to any understanding of how we think and how we function, and therefore central
to an understanding of what makes us human . (Lakoff 1987: 6) Although traditional Aristotelian view
on categories provides answers that differ from the recent research, both classical and cognitive
theories see categorisation as crucial to understanding how human beings make sense of experience
and how they communicate. Categorization is basic to human thought, perception, action, and speech.

New Start Reflection
This summer I had the opportunity to do New Start a program for incoming freshmen at the University
of Arizona. The program is to support the transition from high school to college and throughout the
program you gain knowledge and tips not only just about the college but about yourself. Using tools
from class activities like SWOT and True Colors that helped me really understand who I am and what
are my strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. Within this essay I will share with you my
SWOT analysis and the things I learned about myself during the last few weeks.
Strengths
Personal values I believe speak a great deal about a person and who they are and I learned that my
values reflect just that. During New Start we had an activity in class that forced us to pick from a list
of personal values and narrow them down and rank them in order of importance. My top values
included family, friends, school, and independence just to name a few. This activity was especially
challenging for me but in the end it helped me really look at what truly is important to me. I had to
apply this lesson from class in my life sooner than I expected. My grandmother passed away during
New Start and I had to decide if I wanted to miss school and be with family but that also meant by
missing school I d be missing out on important information. In the end I choose to go to school the
next day and be with my family afterwards. That decision alone was very hard because in a situation
such as mine there was a conflict of my personal values my family is very important to me but school
is just as important to me. Although it was difficult for me to make that decision but the fact I had the
ability to choose between two of my own personal values is why I ve chosen to place knowing and
understanding my personal values as a strength. I know that throughout life there will be times when I
will have to choose once again between my personal values and as student like I ve mentioned earlier
I m going to make those decisions based on what matters to me and what won t always be there in the
end.
Another strength I have is goal setting towards the end of high school coming into this summer my top
goal was to get a job. I ve tried my best to

Comparison Of Howl And Song Of Myself
Howl by Ginsberg and Song of Myself by Whitman, have different and similar variances on the take
of the world. Howl is more technical and gets straight to the point of the world whereas Song of
Myself starts off with a happier side of the world. Whitman describes world as heaven and Ginsberg
describes live as dark and evil. Where Whitman is less harsh and Ginsberg is very harsh. Also,
Ginsberg uses a raw language to describe the world in a deeper perspective. In Song of Myself ,
Whitman describes the world as a hopeful place in which a lot can be done. He states, The atmosphere
is not a perfume, it has no taste of the distillation, it is odorless, It is for my mouth forever, I am in

view them from the top. The suicide sprawls on the bloody floor of the bed room; I witness the corpse

created great suicidal dramas on the apartment cliff banks of the Hudson under the wartime blue
floodlight of the moon their heads shall be crowned with laurel in oblivion (line 46). These two quotes
stand out and seem that they are replying to one other. In lines 150 168 in Song of Myself , he
discussed that he has been through many experience in one, which is horrifying as children
committing suicide. Ginsberg replies to this as if they have committed suicide they should be honored
and given the status of a hero for such bravery. Ginsberg way of discussing suicide is more intense
than Whitman s. Ginsberg definition of suicide is the resort of pain and suffering and that leads to
being honored because it takes a lot of will to go through the agony. Whitman see s the suffering but
ignores it because it s a part of how the world is and he cannot be judgmental of whom ever is suicidal
because he accepts that the world consists of life and

Beachboard Case Study
The purpose of the experimenter is to find out if the beachboard should extend the time to let the
students could be able to see all of their scores including the scores of their last tests or finals. If yes,
then how and if no, then why? The reason is that because the experimenter has experienced many
times going to Beachboard after the final day of school to look for the last scores from classes, but
didn t see the scores of the final tests. The experimenter could only go to MyCSULB to look for the
letter grades of the courses about some weeks after the finals have been done. About some weeks after

  • 2. Sickle Cells Anaemia And The Sickle Cell Trait UNDERSTANDING SICKLE CELL ANAEMIAAND THE SICKLE CELL TRAIT Introduction Sickle Cell Anaemia is the commonest of most severe form of Sickle Cell Disease. SCD is a collective term for hereditary haemoglobinopathies caused by the inheritance of a mutated haemoglobin allele (sickle haemoglobin HbS) in the erythrocytes. The HbS mutation is caused by a Valine to Glutamic acid substitution at the 6th amino acid of the β globin chain. (Harmon et al., 2012)The first known case of SCD in the western world was recorded in 1910 in the United States, when a 20 year old black student from Grenada presented abnormal erythrocytes upon examination of his blood. This can now be recognised as the major characteristic of SCD where the erythrocytes assume the shape of a sickle when deprived of oxygen in vivo hence the name of the disease. Although SCD is most prevalent in individuals of African ancestry, the disease is also existent in people from Meditterenean Europe,Hispanic, Midle Eastern and Indian Asian backgrounds. The explanation of the regional specificity of SCD is the correlation between the geographical locations where Falciparum Malaria was once endemic and high incidents of Haemoglobin S mutations in those particular regions. However, the occurrence of SCD disease in regions that have no known history of Falcipurum Malaria can be attributed to migration. In Britain for example, the first incidents of SCD were recorded after the postwar immigration of the non white population ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. How Does Prospero Change In The Tempest In Shakespeare s play, The Tempest , Prospero, the main character, is the rightful Duke of Milan. He found refuge on a distant island after his brother, Antonio, seized Prospero s title and homeland. These events and experiences of being exiled advance character to become isolated and enriched at the same time. As a comic hero, Prospero start off as being frustrated and vengeful due to his separation from his title and homeland, but is later refined due to those experiences. Antonio s dethroning of Prospero is not only the reason why Prospero is alienated but it also is a great example about the theme of betrayal that is prominent in the book. Antonio s betrayal in particular, serves as the source of conflict for the play. Prospero creates ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Prospero s intentions throughout the play was to seek out vengeance towards his brother and all those who helped him in his betrayal. Through the work of Ariel, Prospero was able to capture those he shipwrecked but decides to forgive them. He also forgives Caliban after plotting to kill him while serving another master, these acts of change are key to the improvement and empowerment Prospero learns after being on the island. The is a growth and arch shown about the character as he states, The rarer action is in virtue than in vengeance. Prospero also shows enrichment of character when he sets Ariel free after commanding him to make smooth sailing upon the return to Naples and Milan, contrasting to the beginning of the play when Prospero seems ungrateful about the service of Ariel. The problem Prospero had that paved the way to him being exiled, was his obsession with studying his art/magic. It is through his experience on the island where he finally comes to realize that the source and self improvement that he needed to make was giving up his magic. This is symbolized by the throwing away of his books and his plea to the audience to release him from his bands . By giving up his magic, the reason he couldn t be an affective Duke, shows how his alienation on the island benefited him by allowing him to focus on his role and duty as ... • 4. Strategic Piece Of Middle East Peace Strategic Piece to Middle East Peace Over the past thousand years, Oman has occupied a key strategic space in the Middle East stratum. With its vast mountain ranges, desert terrain, and steep cliffs along the coast, Oman over the years has proven to be very difficult to invade. This has allowed Oman to repel the majority of attacks from foreign militaries and maintain their sovereignty. The Southern and Eastern coastline of the country represents the key that makes Oman so important to the strength of the Middle East. Oman is a major piece to the peace in the Middle East. Oman lies in the southeast corner of the Arabian Peninsula right on the Tropic of Cancer latitude line (International 1). Yemen, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates border Oman from the southeast, west, and the north. Oman also claims many islands in the Arabian Sea and in the Strait of Hormuz off Oman s northern tip. Similar to its surrounding nations, Oman has a mountain range that spans the country. The Hajar mountain range begins at the north west tip and extends down its western border to the southwest, near Yemen (International 1). The Omanis compare The Hajar to a human backbone, for it forms a great arc much like the human skeleton. The Interior of Oman is mostly sand dunes, rocks, and gravel, which is very similar to the entire Middle East region (International 3). Oman s coastline stretches 1,700 km from North to South. Loss Of Innocence In Heart Of Darkness Loss of innocence and corruption of man are two of the main 20th century themes demonstrated in British modernism in the characters Kurtz in Conrad s Heart of Darkness, the British Officer in Orwell s Shooting an Elephant , and Trevor in Greene s The Destructors . Corruption of man and loss of innocence is portrayed in Heart of Darkness; Kurtz has everything he wants. He has power, a mistress, and loyal followers, which are the savages of the Congo. Marlow, however, was a different person before exploring the Congo. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The story begins in a hollow town in crumbles as an aftermath of WWI. In all the mess, a beautiful home stands alone (Greene 4). An old lonely man lives in this house. 12 young boys come by and are very jealous of his home so T, the new leader, gets a tour. After he comes out, the gang devises a plan to destroy it (1). They d never know. We d do it from inside. I ve found a way in. He said with a sort of intensity, We d be like worms, don t you see, in an apple. When we came out again there d be nothing there, no staircase, no panels, nothing but just walls, and then we d make the walls fall down somehow (Greene 5). That was the plan, the boys decided to destroy the house. Keep in mind, these boys are only 6 13 years of age. Innocent little boys, who people only see as little boys not destroyers of a beautiful creation. The war transformed the children s hate in the world and corrupted their vision of humanity. Boys destroy an old innocent man s home out of jealousy, and are not even the slightest bit remorseful. Loss of innocence and corruption of man are very pronounced themes in this 20th century short story. In I hear America singing Walt Whitman portrays America in an amazing light making people want to go this dream like utopian country. In Let America be America Again it portrays America as a land of false dreams and wants it to be the dream it hoped it be. It also tells of the corrupt, dark, crooked side of America. It also mentions how it should never have been like this. Now in I hear America singing it shows the pure, lively, and beautiful side of America. You are stronger because of all the challenges and circumstances that you ve endured. Be thankful for everything because as you become stronger...life becomes easier Quoted by Robert Tew. Robert Tew explained in this quote that someone or something has made you the person you are today. Whether it be family, friends, someone who has inspired you or personal experiences we all have reasons as to what made us the way we are. I recently made a still life representing what made me the person I am today. If you looked at it you might be confused about the items so I will be explaining the significants of the items and why it made me the person I am today. At an early age, with the help of my family, I started to form into the person I am today. My family is a big part of my life and has been since I could remember. If you look at my still life you can see a picture of my family and I in the left corner. In the picture is my mom Tammy, my stepdad Tom, my sister Felicia, and Donnie which is Felicia s boyfriend of about 5 years. This picture was taken a couple years ago on vacation to Florida. I think it might be one of those processes that take a while to get unified in all fifty states, for example Gay Marriage. I am not saying pick a side or what not, my point is that process took many years to develop and come up with reasoning behind it. In 2015, Fisher Price posted annual worldwide sales of $1.85 billion, which was up 7% over the prior year. (Mattel, 2016) With Fisher Price being a leader in the global toy market, there is a significant opportunity and pressure to unveil and produce new and innovative toys throughout the year, especially in the fourth quarter, which encompasses the holiday season. Fisher Price is known for toys geared towards younger children, usually from birth to age 8. While they have a wide range of offerings that includes baby gear (swings, bouncers, high chairs, etc.), their core business is toys. New Product Launch With evolving trends, Fisher Price needs to stay ahead of the competition and develop new and relevant toys to draw attention to their brand. One way to do this is to unveil exclusive toy sets for specific retailers. These are usually larger sets with more pieces or new color of an existing toy at a great value than what is offered for the general competition. As an example, Fisher Price exclusively manufactured a pink toy medical kit for Toys R Us. This not only draws more customers into Toys R Us but it brings awareness and calls out the Fisher Price brand. • 11. Theme And Meaning Of Peter Pan Theme and Meaning Peter Pan is a timeless tale in which transcends time and culture through its underlying themes. Each of the characters fulfilled their roles tremendously, and was able to bring forth these themes in their own unique ways. The most apparent, from the beginning, is the emphasis of youthfulness. Peter is the main embodiment of this theme, given he does not physically age. From the beginning, his role was that to entice Wendy and her siblings to journey with him to Never never land. What this magical place represents is a state of remaining youthful forever, and not letting society conform one s beliefs. The concept of age is masked by Peter s stubbornness to not conform to such. For example, Wendy wants to get married and have kids one day; Peter does not. Wendy wants this because she is taught from a young age that this is a common normality of life. Peter refusing to stay at the house with the other lost boys, in the end, showed that such normality does not have to be one s choice. This theme was conveyed by the play being both a comedy and a musical. These two forms of drama brought with it both wittiness and purity, both of which are a direct correlation youthfulness. And the character s ability to sing with clarity helped boost such a message. The role such clarity played is relevant to American culture, today. In order for people to listen, in a society with so much information, a message must be clear and transparent. Although it is not necessary ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The first school I ever went to was Early Learners where I learned the basics. But of course in preschool you don t really get graded or anything. After all, it is pre school. But the second school I went to was Table Mound. Over by Casey s and all those places. Table Mound was definitely a big place for me. Back then anyways, I looked at it like it was a huge school. There I also had to move because I was outside the school district, and we moved into a trailer. And the trailer was really nice on the inside, and it had 2 bathrooms so I didn t really care. Next I went to Audubon, where I moved back to my old house, where I still live now. Then I went to Thomas Jefferson Middle School. And I like this place a lot. I like how we don t have to stay in one class, and I also like how we can have our phones out at lunch. And I think I don t get as mad in class because if I get frustrated with a teacher, I don t have to stay with them the whole day. And that s why I like middle school the most. Most of my friends think I m funny but that s because they re easy to make laugh. And so am I, I guess, but I think it s a good thing. Even though God punished Jonah by forcing him to undergo three days in the belly of a fish, his myopic attitude toward the Ninevites remained unchanged. He despised them so much, that he would have preferred death over [their] salvation (UH, Jonah 122). Jonah s exasperation with the Ninevites was rooted in the fact that God would give them mercy as long as they repented; He knew that God could rescue any sinner, but Jonah wanted nothing to do with divine pardon being extended to Israel s hostile enemies (UH, Jonah 122). Although Jonah strongly opposed giving the Ninevites salvation, God used the rebellious prophet to bring [the] rebellious people to faith in himself (UH, Jonah 124). With the Lord s help, Jonah eventually approached the sinful people with diffidence and helped hundreds of thousands of them gain salvation from God. • 26. Upper Three Forks In Painted Woods Case Study The upper Three Forks in Painted Woods has shown poor oil production and low oil saturation compared to the surrounding acreage. Previous assessments suggested that the primary cause for this anomaly was due to the Pronghorn acting as a barrier for primary migration from the lower Bakken shale into the upper Three Forks. Current assessment indicates that, while the Pronghorn is a tight and fine grained rock, it is not entirely impermeable. The Pronghorn is believed to only partially inhibit primary migration, and is not the primary factor for the poor performance across Painted Woods. The lower Bakken shale thins drastically across the Painted Woods region. This thinning greatly reduces the amount of hydrocarbons generated across the region. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... PRONGHORN AS A PRIMARY MIGRATION BARRIER Based off of MICP data collected from core (Figure 19), the Pronghorn siltstone has a permeability on par with the upper and lower Bakken shales. The lack of permeability is supported by lithological analysis indicating a clay content of up to 50 % (Figure 20) across the Painted Woods asset. The low permeability and high clay content shows that the Pronghorn does have the potential to occlude primary migration of hydrocarbons from the lower Bakken shale into the underlying upper Three Forks. However, this only has a minimal effect on the overall potential of the upper Three Forks as a whole. Saturation trends in the Pronghorn and the upper Three Forks (Figure 21), indicates that hydrocarbons are being occluded from the lower Bakken into the Three Forks, but not entirely. Oil saturation gradually decreases from the top of the Pronghorn to the base indicating less hydrocarbons are being pushed into the upper Three Forks. However, the oil saturation never reach 0% and only decreases to approximately 60 to 70 % water saturation. The oil saturation then gradually increases from the top of the Three Forks to the top of the first claystone. • 29. Asher Lev s Crucifixion Paintings as an Act of Disrespect... Asher Lev s Crucifixion Paintings as an Act of Disrespect Towards His Parents Asher Lev paints against the values of his family and community. He disregards Jewish traditions and observance by pursuing his passion for art. His individuality has him disobeying the Rebbe, the mashphia, his mythic ancestor as well as his parents. Asher does not intend for his artwork to be harmful, but that they convey truths and feelings. Yet, the Brooklyn Crucifixions cause shame for his observant Jewish parents. In that way, he disrespects their teachings and wishes. He challenges the Jewish belief on modesty in creating nude works and disturbs the Hasidic community in his Christian imagery. • 31. Glory And Centerfield Sound Devices There are many different types of poems. All poems have a meaning to them, and those meanings are all unique to each and every poem. Much like poems, songs have very many types and genres and different meanings. Glory , a poem by Yusef Komunyakaa, and Centerfield , a song by John Fogerty, are very similar to each other. Both poems and songs use poetic language such as figurative language and sound devices. These help the poem or song flow better, sound more interesting, and keep the readers or listeners attention. Glory is a poem about young men who use baseball as an escape from their long, hard work days. When the men got done with work, they would go to an old baseball field and have fun and connect playing baseball. Although the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These similarities are not only the topic, but also the uses of sound devices, figurative language, and imagery. Both the poem and the song are centered around baseball. They both mention former baseball legends, but Glory uses them to describe the ethnicity, while Centerfield uses the names to add some context to the song. Both use sound devices such as consonance. In Glory an example of a consonance is Working knockout shifts daybreak (2) and in Centerfield Don t say it ain t so, you know the time is now (15). While Glory focuses more on the players and fans, Centerfield focuses more on the game itself. In Glory it centers in on the players and their agile nature and the way they play the game. It depicts the fans cheering them on and the umpires dancing about calling strikes on batters. Centerfield is more about the writer playing the game and competing to play the position, centerfield. Another difference between the two is the context in which the game is being played. The young men in Glory had just gotten done with a long, hard day of work and use the game as an escape from all of that work. It helps them stay motivated for the week and live life in a better state of mind. Centerfield is not as much as an escape for the writer, but more as a game that he has known and loved. • 33. Examples Of Categorisation Categorisation is not a matter to be taken lightly. There is nothing more basic than categorisation to our thought, perception, action and speech. Every time we see something as kind of thing, for example, a tree, we are categorising. Whenever we reason about kinds of things (...) we are employing categories. Whenever we intentionally perform any kind of action (...) we are using categories . (Lakoff 1987: 6) We categorise all physical objects and motor activities we come across in our everyday life and we make decisions based on those categories. Without the ability to categorise, we could not function at all, either in the physical world or in our social and intellectual lives. An understanding of how we categorise is central to any understanding of how we think and how we function, and therefore central to an understanding of what makes us human . (Lakoff 1987: 6) Although traditional Aristotelian view on categories provides answers that differ from the recent research, both classical and cognitive theories see categorisation as crucial to understanding how human beings make sense of experience and how they communicate. • 34. New Start Reflection This summer I had the opportunity to do New Start a program for incoming freshmen at the University of Arizona. The program is to support the transition from high school to college and throughout the program you gain knowledge and tips not only just about the college but about yourself. Using tools from class activities like SWOT and True Colors that helped me really understand who I am and what are my strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. Within this essay I will share with you my SWOT analysis and the things I learned about myself during the last few weeks. Strengths Personal values I believe speak a great deal about a person and who they are and I learned that my values reflect just that. During New Start we had an activity in class that forced us to pick from a list of personal values and narrow them down and rank them in order of importance. My top values included family, friends, school, and independence just to name a few. This activity was especially challenging for me but in the end it helped me really look at what truly is important to me. I had to apply this lesson from class in my life sooner than I expected. My grandmother passed away during New Start and I had to decide if I wanted to miss school and be with family but that also meant by missing school I d be missing out on important information. In the end I choose to go to school the next day and be with my family afterwards. That decision alone was very hard because in a situation such as mine there was a conflict of my personal values my family is very important to me but school is just as important to me. Although it was difficult for me to make that decision but the fact I had the ability to choose between two of my own personal values is why I ve chosen to place knowing and understanding my personal values as a strength. I know that throughout life there will be times when I will have to choose once again between my personal values and as student like I ve mentioned earlier I m going to make those decisions based on what matters to me and what won t always be there in the end. Another strength I have is goal setting towards the end of high school coming into this summer my top goal was to get a job. I ve tried my best to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Howl is more technical and gets straight to the point of the world whereas Song of Myself starts off with a happier side of the world. Whitman describes world as heaven and Ginsberg describes live as dark and evil. Where Whitman is less harsh and Ginsberg is very harsh. Also, Ginsberg uses a raw language to describe the world in a deeper perspective. In Song of Myself , Whitman describes the world as a hopeful place in which a lot can be done. The suicide sprawls on the bloody floor of the bed room; I witness the corpse with its dabbled hair I note where the pistol has fallen (lines 150 153), Ginsberg replies with, who created great suicidal dramas on the apartment cliff banks of the Hudson under the wartime blue floodlight of the moon their heads shall be crowned with laurel in oblivion (line 46). These two quotes stand out and seem that they are replying to one other. In lines 150 168 in Song of Myself , he discussed that he has been through many experience in one, which is horrifying as children committing suicide. Ginsberg replies to this as if they have committed suicide they should be honored and given the status of a hero for such bravery. Ginsberg way of discussing suicide is more intense than Whitman s. Ginsberg definition of suicide is the resort of pain and suffering and that leads to being honored because it takes a lot of will to go through the agony. Whitman see s the suffering but ignores it because it s a part of how the world is and he cannot be judgmental of whom ever is suicidal because he accepts that the world consists of life and ...
