The Three Political Parties
When you think about the presidential elections in the United States of America you only hear
about the two major parties which is the Republican party and the Democratic Party. But in
reality there is a Major third that consist of three different parties called the Libertarian party,
Green party, and Constitution party. I think the reason the third parties has such a problem in the
electoral races is because of the years of experience the Green party was started in 2001 the
Libertarian Party was started in 1971 and the Constitution Party was founded in 1991. The longest
of the three parties was only 46 years which is nothing compared to the Democratic and
Republican parties which has over 150 years they have been an official party. I would

The Importance Of Domestic Work
In modern capitalist societies, certain types of labor are given a higher economic and social
capital. Jobs that require traditionally feminine qualities, such as domestic work, are seen as less
important than jobs that promote masculine traits. This inherent devaluation of feminine qualities
reflects on those who often complete this work women. The work of women is made to be
invisible through a lack of legal protection and unpaid labor. Economical hierarchies and
gendered work are further reinforced through the association of this work with pre existing power
differences between men and women, and women from Global North and Global South. Women
can be harmed by domestic work as shown by Meshael Alayban, a Saudi Arabian Princess, who
allegedly held 5 women against their will to work as maids and confiscated their travel documents
(Rokhy 2013: 1). Alayban was arrested in July of 2013, but she was eventually released due to lack
of evidence. The case, nonetheless, exemplifies important issues surrounding women s work and
oppression stemming from global inequality. Through reinforced genderroles and divisions of
wealth, women continue to take on a disproportionate share of care work and a subordinate role in
the domestic sphere.
Assumed gender roles affect women in both the professionally and within the home. The
decreased value of work pertaining to feminine traits is seen clearly through the gender pay gap
and the salary of different jobs. According to Melissa J. Gillis s

Life of a Mullato Essay examples
Life of a Mullato In Society, there has been one common way through which an individual can
differentiate himself and that is race/color. Consequently, once a person s color is determined, it
seems a class structure is established, a structure that not only describes the individual s social,
political, but also their economic standards. Throughout most of nineteenth century literature that
we have read it s apparent, the class structure consisted of whites and blacks. Much of the literary
works of the time stressed that to be black meant being despised and discriminated against by the
white population. Moreover, the literature such as Our Nig portrayed whites as domineering and
superior as they essentially controlled many black... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After a thorough analysis of the racial identity of a mulatto, and a look at the lives of mulatto
characters in works by Charles W. Chesnutt, Harriet Wilson and Wallace Thurman an
understanding of what it means to be mulatto can be realized. In the works we discussed, a
mulatto was usually the offspring of a black woman and a white man; however, the key to
comprehending the racial identity of a mulatto is much more deeper. A mulatto is constantly faced
with the difficult task of struggling between two races that in the past have been in conflict with
each other. In addition, they are faced with mixed feelings from the fellow pure bread black
members. For example, in Blacker the Berry, Emma character, a mulatto encounter constant
resentment and possible envy by not only blacks because of her lighter skin tone, but also from
white peers. Even in present society, this is a reality of which many non blacks are unaware, and
which most blacks would prefer to overlook, rather than resolve. It was these revelations that
authors like Chesnutt, Wilson, and Thurman attempted to bring insight on. Charles W. Chesnutt
was born in Cleveland in 1858, to free parents of mixed racial heritage, and raised in Fayetteville,
N.C. His youth in North Carolina as a mulatto was very influential in most of his works. Chesnutt
absorbed the dialects and folktales

John Locke s Limited Representationalism
March 12, 2017
A.
Do you ever wonder what life is? How we subsist as humans? What is the macrocosm in general?
It s uncanny concept to cogitate, so many explications are out there and we still don t have the
answers we optate. John Locke, who wanted to test those questions was the first modern empiricist
we studied. His philosophies were deeply influential on us. Locke argued that, the mind represents
the external world, but does not duplicate it. (The Potency of Conceptions, 2002). His argument
makes you genuinely contemplate subsistence and makes you second guess your opinion on what
you cerebrate you wish to be true in life. His specific argument about limited ... Show more content

The hypothesis Locke had was that matter itself, does exist. He utilized the term material
substance, which subsists outside our minds and our perceptions are caused due to this matter.
(Prof. Stanley, 12). This hypothesis expounds why we cannot control our own sense data. They
are caused by material substances that do exist in our mind. His initial argument is that matter is
real and is a component to the cause of our perceptions. Locke s limited representationalism was
that some properties of our sense data look homogeneous to properties of the matter that cause
sense data. Locke also verbally expressed that not all properties of our sense data look
homogeneous to the properties of matter.
His conclusions, in reference to the ego centric problem expresses that the subsistence of the
material world cannot be proven with certainty that we get by mathematics proofs. He verbalizes
that this doesn t designate that we cannot justify our notion in the material world. The justification
for erudition only requires, reasonably high probability. (Prof. Stanley, 11). His colossal concern
with finding the proof for the mind external world was finding the best explanation. The conclusion
to the best explanation would explicate the facts that offers the best possible explanation. His
solicits hypothesis was an endeavor that he made to point to specific set of facts that seem
infeasible to answer. The facts about the claim shows

Art Spiegelman s Use Of Animals In Maus I And Maus Propaganda
Maus I and Maus II by Art Spiegelman are graphic novels that describe the horrors that his father
Vladek experienced during the period of time known as the Holocaust. The Holocaust was a time
of extreme racial and ethnic prejudice in which over six million Jews died, not counting the other
groups such as Gypsies and Homosexual who were also slain by the Nazi party. The Jews were
killed because they were perceived as being a subhuman layer of the Nazi Society (United States
Holocaust Memorial Museum). However Art Spiegelmanprovides as interesting asset to his novels
in the form of the illustrations provided in the graphic novels. The pictures portray all the
characters as different animals based on their nationality or Religion. However Art... Show more

The opposite of what the Nazis believed, Spiegelman has anthropomorphic character with their
human thoughts rather than humans who had animal thoughts. His characters have human
actions and thoughts, and perceive themselves as human. This is also proven in Maus I when
Vladek and his wife Anja are hiding in the cellar of a friend. While in the cellar the two are being
pestered by rats. To stop Anja from having a panic attack from being close to the vermin Vladek
claims Those aren t rats. They re very small. one just ran over my hand before. They re just mice
( Maus I, 157). This shows that in the world of Art Spiegelman s Maus animals such as rats and
mice coexist with the characters that are drawn as rats and mice. Spiegelman also uses masks to
help parody the story. The masks in the story are worn by Vladek, and Anja to hide in plain site in
Nazi occupied Poland. The characters are illustrated with a pig head, with a very visible string
around the mask for the reader to see. This parodies the idea of animals living the Holocaust with
the Jews pretending to be Polish. The masks represent their ability to hide within the Polish
community, and assimilate with their culture. Therefore allowing Art Spiegelman to Parody both

Negative Argument on the Green Movement
Since the start of civilization, people have created large amounts of waste. It was during the prime
of the Roman Empire that people began to worry about where all of this waste was going, and how
it damaged the environment (ProQuest Staff). This was the birth of the Green Movement, which is
the pursuit of methods to positively impact the environment. According to A Rubbish Map, the
world s cities currently generate around 1.3 billion tonnes of [municipal solid waste] a year . This
information shows that there is still a very significant negative impact on the environment from
human activity in spite of the recent advance of the green movement. Along with this fact of
excessive waste still existing, there are many other reasons the green movement has not yet had a
positive impact on the environment. The three main restrictions to the green movement causing a
positive impact from humans to the environment are continuation of excessive waste in American
cities, lack of effective recyclingaround the world, and governments restricting the ability of
individuals to live in accordance with the green movement.
In America, according to the American Environmental Protection Agency, the average person
generates 4.4 pounds of solid waste daily (United States Environmental Protection Agency). This
adds up to 250 million tons of solid waste produced in America every year. This total continues to
grow, and it grows fast compared to the increase in American population. America reached

Development of Reader s Feeling for Shylock Throughout...
Development of Reader s Feeling for Shylock Throughout William Shakespeare s The Merchant of
Venice
Shylock s first entrance into the Merchant of Venice leaves you with no definite feelings for him.
He does not immediately stand out as an enthralling character although neither does he strike you
as a selfish person driven by money. Although at this point in the play I believe an audience in
Shakespeare s time would have been forced to show dislike towards Shylock just because Shylock
is a Jew. In Shakespeare s time Jews were seen as outcasts because the large majority of Britain s
population in 15th century were Christians. Today the majority of the people who watch or read

Maybe at this point in the play Shylock would still have had no sympathy from the audience of
the15th Century, Bassino would be earning greater respect because of the way he despises Jews.
Shylock then later presents his proposition, he offers Antonio the 3000 ducats that Antonio has
specified he would like to borrow. On the condition that Antonio pays him back the money within
three months but if Antonio fails to reach the deadline then Shylock Be nominated, for an equal
pound of Antonio s fair flesh . Antonio is confident that he will receive the bonds worth within
two months at the value of thrice three times the value of the bond. Antonio s money is invested
in ships that import goods from foreign countries. The Shakespearean audience at this point would
be oblivious to the catastrophe that is about to encounter Antonio because he has three ships out a
sea and they are expected to return. The audience would be confident that nothing unpleasant
could happen to Antonio as he is a Christian and was helping out a friend by borrowing the
money. I believe the audiences in Shakespeare s time were waiting for Shylock s plan to backfire
on himself. Perhaps the audience at this point would be concentrating on making a mockery of
Shylock. Possibly a Shakespearean audience would be more naГЇve compared to a 21st Century

The Music Shaping Our Society
When you turn on the radio and change it to your favorite station, what are most of the songs
about? In today s society, the majority of them are probably about sex, drugs, and alcohol. These
are the principles mainstream singers like Lil Wayne, Drake and Nicki Minaj are pounding into
young people s minds. Instead of directing their music negatively, these artists should try to
encourage respectable behavior among our youth. I believe that the negative lyrics in many popular
contemporary songs have a negative influence on the youth of America. Many artists encourage
illicit drug use in popular songs of today and advertise them through ... Show more content on

Look at the statistics on the number of teenage pregnancies in the United States compared to those
of earlier times. Drug and alcohol abuse in the United States has also increased over the years
and the ages seem to be getting younger. All of these things are very depressing and really make
me worry how the next generation will be if ours is this bad. Sadly, we are the only ones to
blame for the way our nation is becoming, but the people we idolize play a huge role in the way
we portray ourselves as a nation. It s no shock that many of today s popular artists are
influencing the youth of America negatively through their lyrics and the way they present
themselves. If these young pop artists would realize how much influence they had on our youth,
they could really make a change for the better. Gerald Graff s article Hidden Intellectualism
backs up this statement and gives an excellent concept that these young artists should follow. In
the article Hidden Intellectualism, Graff states that it doesn t matter what you re interested in, as
long as you use what you find interesting and look at it through academic eyes (385). I believe
that the following artists use Graff s idea and apply it not only to their song lyrics, but also their
way of life. Artists like Bono, Taylor Swift, and Justin Bieber are constantly giving to charity and
setting good examples for their peers. More pop singers

Summary Of Second Skins
Second Skins: The Body Narratives of Transsexuality Jay Prosser
Prosser (1998) enters the gender identity conversation with a rather counter intuitive project. At a
time when poststructuralism is busily deconstructing the sex/gender linkage in ways that transcend
the materiality of the subject, Prosser wants to bring the ontological trans body back into the
dialogue by charting the arc of the changing body within transgender narratives. Only by mapping
these transitions in this frame can he describe a complex transsexual experience that breaks free
from the political binaries used by essentialists and poststructuralists, such as literal/deliteralizing,
subversive/hegemonic (16). If the former has been guilty of a dogmatic reliance on a narrow
understanding of biology to describe transsexuals, Prosser argues, then the former is equally guilty
of deconstructing gender to the point of reducing the material body to an inconvenient concept (13).
Although critique of bio determinists is mostly implicit throughout this work (save for Raymond,
whose seminal work is called out numerous times), Prosser focuses the bulk of Second Skins on
analyzing the queer movement s strategies to initially align with, and then appropriate, transgender
subjectivity. He argues from 1998 this is to act as leverage to loosen the fixity of gender
identities...(and) enable affiliation between gay men and lesbians (5). While some of this argument
reads as antiquated two decades later, the idea of

Virtual Reality Importance
Why is Virtual Reality important? Virtual Reality can positive and negative effect on people. The
definition of Virtual Reality is An artificial environment which is experienced through sensory
stimuli (such as sights and sounds) provided by a computer and in which one s actions partially
determine what happens in the environment (www.Merriam Webster.com). Virtual reality
is probably
one of the newest and most advanced way to have a good time with friends and family. Virtual
Reality can be used so much more than it is being used today, one day it will control what we do
daily. Personally, I have only used a Virtual Reality headset two times. Although I am not very
experienced with Virtual Reality, I have had tons of fun with them and they had led to great
times with friends. I recently attended a 4 H camp where they had a couple of Virtual reality
headsets, they put us in the situation of a drunk driver hitting head on with a driver to show us
the possible dangers of drinking and driving. I thought that was one way they could further
develop and use this technology. One of the more interesting activities I have done with a Virtual
Reality headset besides playing games was exploring the universe and all the it holds. Sure it
sounds boring, but these headsets can actually be used for learning which can make a huge
difference in schools. This new technology could help with kids of all ages to learn new ways to

The Red Candle In Amy Tan s The Joy Luck Club
The great battle of books vs movies is never ending. A book provides insight of the characters
feelings while a movie needs to evoke emotions in a shorter time frame. The Joy Luck Club,
written by Amy Tan, was adapted into a film in 1993. Unlike the Harry Potter series Amy Tan
cowrote the screenplay, meaning she had the ultimate decision of what makes it in the movie.
Comparing both was quite interesting knowing that Amy Tan could ve kept The Red Candle story
and kept a clean view of the aunts in the story. The book The Joy Luck Clubwas a novel of
intertwined stories of four women and their daughters. Reading each story was like finding a
puzzle piece that lead to fully understand the characters. One of the important stories used in the

Financial Analysis of the Healthcare Field
Introduction
In the ever changing dynamic of the healthcare industry, it is central to look at financial trends and
different types of financial analysis to capitalize on resources and minimize future impacts. With
any growing healthcare organization it is vital to be aware of one s internal and external
environment, the community it serves as well as the status of the economy. The purpose of this
paper is to determine the significance of certain types of financial analysis, particularly financial
ratios, the use of EBITDA and how they influence the healthcare field.
EBITDA, Financial Ratios and growing trends in healthcare EBITDA is an acronym which stands
for earnings before interest, taxation, depreciation and amortization and generally used to
determine how profitable a company can be (Brockman, C., Russell, J., 2012). The basic
understanding of the EBITDA is defined as the money the company has made without
considering expenses or taxes (Brockman, C., Russell, J., 2012). This can give a false sense of
how much the company is actually making or worth. In a hypothetical situation, a company creates
a product that costs the consumer $10, and 200 are made to meet the projected demand. With
EBITDA, it is assumed there is already a $2000 profit made even if the product is actually never
purchased. EBITDA does not calculate the manufacturing costs, taxes and employee salaries that go
into making a product. Although EBITDA does not seem to measure the actual value of a

Lasting Impacts of Funk and Disco
The Lasting Impacts of Funk and Disco
The transition from the 1960 s to the 1970 s was a rough one. A decade characterized by the
supposed defeat of poverty and racism as well as the conquest of space, was subsequently and
surprisingly followed by a decade of chaos and disorder in the world. The country was running out
of promise, the troops were running out of Vietnam, and the President was running out of office.
Luckily however, the emergence of great music simply could not be affected by the unfortunate
economic and social issues going on in the world at the time. The surfacing of both funk and disco
characterized the time period starting from the late 1960 s into the 1970 s, and although each music

Its soundtrack, written by the Bee Gees, reached number one on the charts in the United States,
Europe, and Asia. Travolta became an idol to millions of people, and a well know sex symbol
for people in the Western world for many, many years. Another one of the major differences
between disco and funk is the fact that disco had a much more impactful crossover appeal on
other styles of music. Disco s popularity led to many artists to record disco like songs. Obviously,
their songs weren t pure disco, but pop or rock songs with disco influences. Finally during the
late 1970 s, the world saw the decline of disco. The movement that was characterized by shiny,
glittery surfaces; high heels and luscious lipstick; jam packed jeans and cut pecs, (Shapiro 3) was
finally coming to an end. It started as a strong anti disco sentiment developed among rock fans and
musicians, particularly in the United States. The heightened hostility took the form of small riots in
various places around the country, graffiti, and t shirts voicing the protestors hatred toward it.
Then, the day that disco died came on July 12, 1979 during Disco Demolition Night. An anti disco
demonstration in Chicago resulted in horrid consequences and havoc in Comiskey Park, as well as
other parts of Chicago.

Archetypes Carl Jung
Carl Jung was a Swiss innovator progressing various theories of the unconscious mind. The Swiss
psychotherapist based his work on Sigmund Freud s perspectives and beliefs of the unconscious
mind. Carl Jung had deducted that a human s unconscious personality could not have started in the
cognizant personality. The thought that certain ideas and pieces of imagination within the
unconscious were shared to all individuals within a society was assumed by Jung. This mental
imagery were claimed as Archetypes by Jung (hence the term Jungian archetypes ) due to the
images being ubiquitous and all inclusive to humans. A famous example of a Jungian archetype is

because genetics can influence the way humans think, physically endure the environment, survive,

This aspect can also greatly affect brain structure. Assuming that a human s brain works similarly to

lives in poverty and suffers from hunger. There are approximately 1.4 million Aboriginal persons
in Canada according to a 2011 report by Statistics Canada. A large amount of people speculate
why there are so many people suffering in such a highly developed country. The causes of
Aboriginal suffering and hunger are believed to be the lack of education and health issues that then
lead to the primary cause of hunger which is poverty. Educational Issues Lack of educational
resources in Indigenous communities has an effect on the jobs and levels of income of Aboriginal...

CBC News reported an article stating that the average annual salary for half the Aboriginal
population was near $20,000 whereas annual food costs for a year is just above $19,000. Queen
s Native Student Association illustrates the cost of certain food items in northern Indigenous
communities in Canada such as the following items; a 24 water bottle pack of $105, a $35 bag
of flour, and peppers costing over $17. These prices are caused by some of the geographical
positions of certain communities such as Nunavut, as it is very expensive to transport. With
these numbers, it is an obvious reason why food is unaffordable and people cannot provide meat
for their large families and themselves as individuals. As a result, 64% of Food Bank users are
Indigenous persons (CFTC 2014), a large portion of them being children. Over half of the users
are Indigenous even though they only account for 4% of Canada s total population. As shown by
Amber Hildebrandt on CBC, children suffer the most from hunger; around 70% feel that food
insecurity is a very big part of their lives (Nunavut Inuit Child Survey, 2007 08). In present day
Canada, CBC News reported that there are now more than half of the First Nation children
officially living in poverty. Governments could provide more services and programs that would

Stereotypes In The Year 2000
Low cut jeans, halter tops, Von Dutch hats, and velour Juicy Couture tracksuits. Ed Hardy shirts,
fake Louis Vuitton handbags, and neckties as necklaces. Flare pants, chunky highlights,
rhinestones, and Baby Phat phone cases. Welcome to the year 2000. I bet many of you readers
just got flashbacks. I also bet many of you cringed and/or gasped in horror at said flashbacks. It s
not an uncommon reaction. Our own Andrea Klick summed it up when I told her my idea for this
column: 2000sstyle is disgusting! Indeed, most people would love to forget the aesthetic of this
particular decade. The transition from the oft lauded 90s to the big, fat, futuristic Y2K created a
culture dominated by Myspace, MTV, and Paris Hilton, with Kim Kardashian following her like
a spray tanned, bag toting lapdog. Call the decade too recent or call it too horrible; either way, a
2000s style revival is an idea oft dismissed. We ve kept the early aughts frozen in time, never to

mainstream. Until now. The first inklings of the 2000s revival popped up in 2015, most notably

of St. Augustine holds its city commission meetings every second and fourth Monday of the
month at Alcazar Room in City Hall, which is located at 75 King Street, St. Augustine, FL. This
meeting s purpose was to establish the millage rate for the city and how to allocate those funds
into a set budget for the upcoming year. The new millage rate of 7.500 mills was approved for
the fiscal year of 2016 2017, which is an increase of 5.47% from last year, in addition to a new
budget for the upcoming year. 2.All of the city commissioners were present for the meeting, they
include: Todd Neville, Nancy Sikes Kline, Leanna Freeman, Mayor, Nancy Shaver, and Vice
Mayor, Roxanne Horvath. At the meeting just about every type of group was represented, city
residents of St. Augustine, business owners, special interested groups, in particular the Clean Up

Navistar Supply Management
Executive Summary
Navistar was a worldwide leader in the manufacturing medium and heavy trucks for 17 consecutive
years in the North America market. Navistar s premium conventional trucks were produced at the
Chatham assembly plant, which had almost 14 years experience in producing Navistar s premium
line since 1983. Navistar had forecasted increased industry demand for heavy and medium trucks in
1998. Especially, the Chatham assembly plant s customers had strict requirements to the truck s
quality and delivery date. As the assembly supervisor in Chatham, Andy Ramsz encountered the
interior trim quality and delivery problem for the truck. Andy had begun to gather data on the

Andy estimated that costs associated with the interior trim shortages were over $200,000 per year.
The company was not being run efficiently and quality control was hindering the performance for
Navistar.
Furthermore, Trimco was QS9000 certified, but the quality control procedures varied throughout as
the company lacked consistency. To make matters worse, Trimco also had high employee turnover
which meant that employees were not all properly trained and failed to understand the knowledge
and specifications of customer requirements. Alternatives

Pros:
Meet on time delivery and reduce the number of shortages

Connected in Origin, but Different in Approach Art is not only about what you see, it s about
what you feel when you look at it. Walking through a museum, it s like walking through
emotions. There are so many different feelings and emotions you get depending on the work of
art you re experiencing. Both works of arts I got to experience at the Getty museum were very
interesting and unique. The first work of art was A Walk at Dusk (1830 1835) by German artist
Caspar David Friedrich. Its medium was oil on canvas with dimensions of 33.3 x 43.7 cm. The
second work of art was Mornington Crescent with the Statue of Sickert s Father in law, 1966 by
German artist Frank Auerbach. Its medium was also oil but on a Masonite attached to auxiliary
wooden framework with dimensions of 122 x 152.5 cm. At a first look both paintings seem

it s not really a place one wants to be at. The emotions these paintings evoke were very similar. In

Jawaharlal Nehru s Plan Based On Policies Of The Soviet...
2.3Nehru Plan Nehru s period was known by extended economic development plans that
organized as five year plans based on policies of the Soviet Union. Given the colonial conditions
that India had been through; these plans were particularly admirable for them. By 1970s,
regulatory policy regime of India became gradually restrictive and inward oriented. For Nehru

provide straight financing starting with most critical industrial divisions 2.State will enhance
balanced supply and demand in the household market. 3.State will eliminate unfair competition
4.State will secure best utilization methods of social assets. Nonetheless, these procurements
were perceived as limitative that led to generation of handicaps on industrial improvements in
order to achieve those goals. As a case in point, under this act, a preceding authorization was
mandatory in order to; 1)Institute a novel industrial cooperative; 2)Enlarge yielding s by more
than 5 % per year; 3)Enlarge yielding s by more than 25% over a period of five years. For this

it was manifested in Japan, South Korea and Taiwan; but its role was protracted as an authority on
all operational settlements including technological improvements or adaptations and position and

The Witch s Hammer Summary
The Witch s Hammer, or The Malleus Maleficarum, was first published in 1487 in Germany. In
German language it is called the Hexenhammer. It served as a guidebook for Inquisitors during
Inquisition. With the help of this book they were able to identify and prosecute the Witches. It was
written by the Dominican monks Heinrich Kramer and presumably also James Sprenger, who
assembled many fairy tales and magic stories, nightmares, hearsay, confessions and accusations and
put this all together as factual information. It is still not completelly confirmed, that Sprenger was

The book has three sections the first one is theoreticall, discussing the question of whether
witchcraft is real or imaginary. It concludes, that it is real, because Devil is real. Witches have an
essential link with the Devil, which allow them the power to perform harmful magical acts. In

Impact Of Colonialism And The Missionary Endeavor On Ibo...
The impact of colonialism and the missionary endeavor on Ibo society in Things Fall Apart novel
Introduction
Things Fall Apart novel tries to re erect cultural, social as well as spiritual basics of traditional
Igbo (Ibo) existence from the year 1850 and 1900. Conversely, the novel cannot be inferred like
truthful societal and political olden times of Ibo society since it is a work of invented story.
However, the novel describes disagreements and apprehensions in Igbo society. It also depicts
changes initiated by colonial ruling and Christianity. The author asserts that European colonialism
operates as a powerful as well as well built mediator of the change within Ibo society (Achebe,
2000). Additionally, Christianity attracted the trivial associates of the Igbo society. Igbo and other
societies were altered considerably due to this variety of deal with Europeans. A few societies
expanded in dimension and authority as marketable centers, whereas others go through great losses
in the course of slave invasion. Hostility get higher, and conflict tactics distorted due to the coming
of weapons.
In articulating the accomplishment of Catholic Missionaries Hatch, Roman Catholics appeared to
be most helpful within the endeavor, thereby protecting a paramount place within Igbo society.
According to Chinua Achebe, Educational expansion was the invention of Igbo confined

human and the increasingly mechanized society. Although it might be argued that the narrative
logic in silent comedy is irrational and the gags are surreal and dreamlike, the fantasy world in
slapstick comedyis more or less reflect the real society and the uncertainty as well as curiosity when
people confront the new changes in their day to day life. As Bilton writes, comedy s fantastical
harmlessness, its tendency to code phenomena as nonsense, its relief of anxiety via the explosive
but innocuous release of laughter all these suggest the comforting panacea of entertainment. Maybe
the most comfortable way for people to face the unknown is to make the uncertainty into something

The Theme Of Confidence In Jack London s To Build A Fire

confidence. This happens because of his over confidence and his lack of experience with this type
of weather. Other readers may argue that the most crucial moment in this story is when the man

Example Of A Christian Research Paper
A Christian is a person who adheres to Christianity, an Abrahamic, monotheistic religion based on
the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. Christian derives from the Koine Greek word ChristГіs, a
translation of the Biblical Hebrew term mashiach.
There are diverse interpretations of Christianity which sometimes conflict. However, Whatever else
they might disagree about, Christians are at least united in believing that Jesus has a unique
significance. It is also used as a label to identify people who associate with the cultural aspects of
Christianity, irrespective of personal religious beliefs or practices.
According to a 2011 Pew Research Center survey, there were 2.2 billion Christians around the
world in 2010, up from about 600 million in 1910. According to 100 Years of Nobel Prizes, a
review of Nobel prizes awarded between 1901 and 2000 reveals that of Nobel Prizes laureates
identified Christianity in its various forms as their religious preference.
Etymology
The Greek word, meaning follower of Christ , comes from, meaning anointed one , with an
adjectival ending borrowed from Latin to denote adhering to, or even belonging to, as in slave
ownership. In the Greek Septuagint, christos was used to translate the Hebrew
ЧћЦёЧ©ЦґЧЃЧ™Ч—Ц·, meaning anointed. In other European languages, equivalent words to
Christian are likewise derived from the Greek, such as ChrГ©tien in French and Cristiano in
Spanish.

there was a 1,700 year old creature called The Ripper that would take small children, rip them of
their skin, and eat their remains. Supposedly, it was snake like with faded blue and green scales,
arms and legs with six claws each, full blazing yellow eyes, and a long tail with three rows of
four sharp spikes. As you can tell, my grandma was really graphic and dramatic. In a way, her

The Relationship Between Sam Spade And The Maltese Falcon...
Both Dashiell Hammett s development of Sam Spade in the Maltese Falcon and Dorothy Sayers
development of Harriet Vane in Gaudy Night, leave something to be said about the way British and
American detective novels create their characters in line with different views of life. Whether that
perspective is relative to the time period and country, or just the views of the author, it is clear that
the American hardboilednovel focuses strongly on the self interest of most of the characters, and
the self development of Sam Spade and what his perception of life is. Dorothy Sayers develops
her protagonist Harriet Vane in a similar way. She too is trying to understand her place in the
world and is given the opportunity to do so at Shrewsbury. The two novels contrast either
drastically in plot development and the types of crimes, which influences the character s views of
their own lives.
The Maltese Falcon begins by quickly establishing Sam Spade as a morally complex character
after his affair with his partner s wife, even though he is supposed to be the protagonist. Sam
Spade s opening description as a blond devil let the readers begin to picture his cynicism. Readers
can t expect the normal actions of a protagonist as they can in Gaudy Night. In a sub genre of
Mystery, this moral questioning plays on the emotional mystery of not knowing fully that the
protagonist is actually going to be the hero. Not only questioning if he s the hero, but questioning if

Not Without Laughter Analysis
Adulthood has consistently been shaped owing to the experiences and know how learned in
childhood, specifically from the central people and events during this time period. Hughes s semi
autobiographical novel, Not Without Laughter, tells of the journey into adulthood of Sandy, who is
constantly exposed to oppression and racism through his own experiences and those of his many
family members. It follows his attempts to better himself for the sake of his family and the
community. Sandy s development throughout the novel is shaped by the lessons he learns with the
help of views of the past from Hager and her religious beliefs, content for the presentfrom
neighborhoods such as De Botoms that show no aspiration , and hope of the futurefrom Tempy s...

When Harriett says that she hates white people for mistreating and abusing her, Hager just tells
her not to hate them and let love and prayer make them better. She tells Harriet, Honey, don t talk
that way, Broke in Hager. It ain t Christian, chile. If you don t like em, pray for em, but don t feel
evil against them. I was in slavery, Harrie, an I been knowin white folks all ma life, an they s
good as far as they can see but when it comes to po niggers, they just can t see that far, that s all
(Hughes 86). This gives Sandy insight on the idea of praying for the better, which is one way of
finding change for the oppression he faces. Although this is a good sentiment, it only gives
Sandy a view of somewhat outdated ideals. Hager s coping strategy is more of a pacifist way of
going about things, which is fine for the time and experiences that she has faced, but Sandy takes
this in as a past strategy which he does embody in some ways, although he also recognizes that this
is not the only way and that he should not be satisfied with only this. He also sees this sort of
contentment in the present state of his

Puerto Rico Light Essay
Have you ever felt like a fish out of water, or like a zebra without stripes? Many go through
situations where they feel like outcasts among others. There are certain expectations within
Hispanic cultures, especially when it comes to speaking their language. I myself have felt detached
from my Puerto Rican heritage because I don t know the Spanish lingo. Throughout my life I
haven t felt accepted to the culture itself because I ve been labeled as the phony Puerto Rican.
When I was younger, around the age of 12, I went to visit my family in Puerto Rico. As soon as I
stepped off the plane, it was as if I was thrown into whole new environment that I was unfamiliar
with at all.
I asked my grandmother, Grandma, why is it so nasty ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My grandmother had to translate for me.
Grandma said, What do you feel like eating today, pequena?
I replied, I want cheese quesadillas, please.
Now cheese quesadillas were also called pizza quesadillas, which are one of my favorite meals
that is sold in Puerto Rico. They are extremely gooey and the warmth of the tortilla would fill my
mouth. Every time we headed back to NY, my grandmother would take a large box with her and
we would enjoy every last bit.
As time went by, I grew up and began to attend high school. My freshman and sophomore year I
had taken Spanish as my language course. Every year that I would step in the class and everyone
would look at me as the Hispanic girl and assumed I already knew how to speak the language
fluently. They were absolutely wrong.
My teacher Ms. Ramirez said, Bienvenida, mucho gusto.
I looked at her in astonishment. I replied, Excuse me; I m sorry I don t speak Spanish.
With this realization she responded, Okay, that is fine, that is what you re here for, to learn.
I felt at ease because every time someone comes to me speaking Spanish, I have the tendency to
feel ashamed or embarrassed. Next year came along, sophomore year and again i m in the same
predicament, a non Spanish speaker. Towards the end of my first class, the teacher gives us an
assignment to do for the remainder of the time.
A classmate of mine turns around and presumes to ask, Hey, can you help me out

Vacuum Truck Excavation Case Study
Vacuum Truck Excavation Cardno developed a new process that includes standard, archival
research coupled with ground penetrating radar investigations to identify potential historic
archaeological features at any given project area. This analysis is followed by controlled
excavation with vacuum trucks to locate and excavate features more accurately than traditional
Phase I methodology. This technique has the potential to determine National Register of Historic
Places (NRHP) eligibility without the need for a traditional Phase II evaluation, and helps
minimize accidental discoveries after project construction has begun. Light Detection and Ranging
(LiDAR) Analysis To assist in locating archaeological sites and to more efficiently focus field
efforts, Cardno has employed the use of LiDAR data to generate targets for shovel testing. Since
human habitation and/or activities tend to occur in locations that are of relatively higher elevation,

Disadvantages Of Corporal Punishment
We all live in a society where our actions are prolific us and may avail us various benefits but at
the same time our actions can be detrimental to the other. Our society has created certain norms
and regulations which are to be followed by each and every person is compelled to follow them in
order to avoid a state of anarchy. Punishment is used as means to reform the wrong doer into a law
abiding citizen. Punishment is the consequence of offence and the kind of punishment that is
imposed on the wrong doer depends upon the kind of society one lives in. Punishment as a means
of social control have been present in our societies since time immemorial and though punishment

using the three rhetorical devices logos or appealing to logic and reasoning , pathos appeals to
emotion and lastly ethospersuasion by appeals to ethics . (587) In the video Drunk history
Claudette Colvin and Rosa Parks , by Comedy Central the use of logos, pathos and ethos isn t

Explores development in market segmentation relating to hospitality and tourism research
published between 1990 and 1998. The literature is divided into three sections: segmenting a
market; market targeting and marketing positioning. Identifies new areas for research, deeper
examination of segments, identification of difference between markets, and more segments.
Introduction
One of the most important strategic concepts contributed by the marketing discipline to business

Elwood and Willamae were just as content watching a contender as they were a team with a
losing record. Bickert came up with a value package for this segment that was composed of day
games consisting of low quality opponents. He was able to provide value for the segment through
the low pricing of the ticket package, while moving this group into games where attendance was
most needed. Household groups such as Cohorts create efficiencies because every household
reached will be a member of an identified prospect group. This is not the case with

Mobile Devices Security
Mobile Devices Security The importance of mobile phones both to individuals and corporate
organizations can never be underestimated. These devices are put to different uses that would have
been almost impossible without them. Innovation is the order of the day when it comes to mobile
phones as designers seek to meet the different needs of customers in the market. Yet these devices
come with great risks particularly when it comes to corporate data that may be stored in them. The
range of security threats that face mobile phones is as a result of several vulnerabilities found
commonly in the devices. The vulnerabilities are partly the result of poor technical controls and
partly poor user security practices. Besides basic user requirements, other security challenges facing
companies with regard to the use of mobile phones include business to business spaces; business to
customer spaces and business to employees as these devices are different from the common desktop
classic environments. Relevant federal agencies and private companies have tried to take necessary
steps to promote security among the use of this devices which includes making certain control
applications available for users to utilize when they wish and disseminating information about
required mobile security behaviors (Metting, 2013). However, security control systems are not often
implemented consistently and it remains unclear whether mobile phone users even understand the
necessity of

an ethical conundrum. Deckard must decide whether he should follow orders and retire the
replicants that he has been tasked with killing. This sci fi/suspense film brings many questions to
the viewers mind about artificial intelligence in this society. This parable like film addresses a
multitude of topics such as what separates humans from androids and the different tragic situations
found in this postmodern, nihilistic, dystopia (Martin, 106 107). In the Blade Runner: The Final Cut

and looks like something that is post war. Despite these things, it is also modern in the sense that
there are surreal cityscape of pyramid like buildings, floating video billboards,, and flying cars
(Martin, 106). Nola Galagher first argues that much of what influenced the film was the historical
concerns of the 1960 s and 1970 s which included the combined effects of nuclear war, ecological
destruction, and overpopulation (Galagher, 169). The setting lays the groundwork for the type of
society Deckard is in. The human race is extremely successful as a whole, they ve created
intelligence that surpasses humans, but they have also destroyed the planet and act without

Baptism During The Early Church And Medieval Eras Essay
Baptism in the Early Church and Medieval Eras All Christians know about the Great Commission,
Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the
Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I
am with you always, to the end of the age (Matthew 28:19 20, English Standard Version). In that
command, Jesustells us to baptize in the name of the Trinity. What does the word baptismmean?
Baptimsa and sometimes baptismos, the Greek word origin of baptism , can translate to immersion
or bathing without any religious implications (McGowan, 2014). Nearly every Christian church
practices baptism with a religious implication; however, they do not agree on God s activity in, the
qualifications for admitting a person to, and methods of administering baptism. For instance, many
churches do not baptize people until they become adults and make a profession of faith, while
others encourage baptizing an infant soon after they are born. The practices and philosophy for
baptism changed throughout its use in the New Testament, the Early Church, and the Medieval era.
New Testament Views of Baptism Sproul articulates, the baptism of John and the New Testament
rite that we celebrate in the Christian community are not identical (2014). The type of baptism John
did was introduced in the Old Testament and directed to the Jewish nation. Between the Old
Testament and the New Testament,

of the way they may interpret or judge certain things. Alexander the Great is not always hard to

parents King Philip II and Queen Olympia. Just 32 he died from malaria, he is regarded as one
of history s brilliant military leaders and most powerful rulers. Alexander came into power as king

are different because Alexander the Great as a mighty ruler as himself could not possibly be able

  • 2. The Three Political Parties When you think about the presidential elections in the United States of America you only hear about the two major parties which is the Republican party and the Democratic Party. But in reality there is a Major third that consist of three different parties called the Libertarian party, Green party, and Constitution party. I think the reason the third parties has such a problem in the electoral races is because of the years of experience the Green party was started in 2001 the Libertarian Party was started in 1971 and the Constitution Party was founded in 1991. The longest of the three parties was only 46 years which is nothing compared to the Democratic and Republican parties which has over 150 years they have been an official party. I would ... • 3. The Importance Of Domestic Work In modern capitalist societies, certain types of labor are given a higher economic and social capital. Jobs that require traditionally feminine qualities, such as domestic work, are seen as less important than jobs that promote masculine traits. This inherent devaluation of feminine qualities reflects on those who often complete this work women. The work of women is made to be invisible through a lack of legal protection and unpaid labor. Economical hierarchies and gendered work are further reinforced through the association of this work with pre existing power differences between men and women, and women from Global North and Global South. Women can be harmed by domestic work as shown by Meshael Alayban, a Saudi Arabian Princess, who allegedly held 5 women against their will to work as maids and confiscated their travel documents (Rokhy 2013: 1). Alayban was arrested in July of 2013, but she was eventually released due to lack of evidence. The case, nonetheless, exemplifies important issues surrounding women s work and oppression stemming from global inequality. Through reinforced genderroles and divisions of wealth, women continue to take on a disproportionate share of care work and a subordinate role in the domestic sphere. Assumed gender roles affect women in both the professionally and within the home. The decreased value of work pertaining to feminine traits is seen clearly through the gender pay gap and the salary of different jobs. According to Melissa J. Gillis s ... • 4. Life of a Mullato Essay examples Life of a Mullato In Society, there has been one common way through which an individual can differentiate himself and that is race/color. Consequently, once a person s color is determined, it seems a class structure is established, a structure that not only describes the individual s social, political, but also their economic standards. Throughout most of nineteenth century literature that we have read it s apparent, the class structure consisted of whites and blacks. Much of the literary works of the time stressed that to be black meant being despised and discriminated against by the white population. Moreover, the literature such as Our Nig portrayed whites as domineering and superior as they essentially controlled many black... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After a thorough analysis of the racial identity of a mulatto, and a look at the lives of mulatto characters in works by Charles W. Chesnutt, Harriet Wilson and Wallace Thurman an understanding of what it means to be mulatto can be realized. In the works we discussed, a mulatto was usually the offspring of a black woman and a white man; however, the key to comprehending the racial identity of a mulatto is much more deeper. A mulatto is constantly faced with the difficult task of struggling between two races that in the past have been in conflict with each other. In addition, they are faced with mixed feelings from the fellow pure bread black members. For example, in Blacker the Berry, Emma character, a mulatto encounter constant resentment and possible envy by not only blacks because of her lighter skin tone, but also from white peers. Even in present society, this is a reality of which many non blacks are unaware, and which most blacks would prefer to overlook, rather than resolve. It was these revelations that authors like Chesnutt, Wilson, and Thurman attempted to bring insight on. Charles W. Chesnutt was born in Cleveland in 1858, to free parents of mixed racial heritage, and raised in Fayetteville, N.C. His youth in North Carolina as a mulatto was very influential in most of his works. Chesnutt absorbed the dialects and folktales ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How we subsist as humans? What is the macrocosm in general? It s uncanny concept to cogitate, so many explications are out there and we still don t have the answers we optate. John Locke, who wanted to test those questions was the first modern empiricist we studied. His philosophies were deeply influential on us. Locke argued that, the mind represents the external world, but does not duplicate it. (The Potency of Conceptions, 2002). His argument makes you genuinely contemplate subsistence and makes you second guess your opinion on what you cerebrate you wish to be true in life. His specific argument about limited ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The hypothesis Locke had was that matter itself, does exist. He utilized the term material substance, which subsists outside our minds and our perceptions are caused due to this matter. (Prof. Stanley, 12). This hypothesis expounds why we cannot control our own sense data. They are caused by material substances that do exist in our mind. His initial argument is that matter is real and is a component to the cause of our perceptions. Locke s limited representationalism was that some properties of our sense data look homogeneous to properties of the matter that cause sense data. Locke also verbally expressed that not all properties of our sense data look homogeneous to the properties of matter. His conclusions, in reference to the ego centric problem expresses that the subsistence of the material world cannot be proven with certainty that we get by mathematics proofs. He verbalizes that this doesn t designate that we cannot justify our notion in the material world. The justification for erudition only requires, reasonably high probability. (Prof. Stanley, 11). Art Spiegelman s Use Of Animals In Maus I And Maus Propaganda Maus I and Maus II by Art Spiegelman are graphic novels that describe the horrors that his father Vladek experienced during the period of time known as the Holocaust. The Holocaust was a time of extreme racial and ethnic prejudice in which over six million Jews died, not counting the other groups such as Gypsies and Homosexual who were also slain by the Nazi party. The Jews were killed because they were perceived as being a subhuman layer of the Nazi Society (United States Holocaust Memorial Museum). The opposite of what the Nazis believed, Spiegelman has anthropomorphic character with their human thoughts rather than humans who had animal thoughts. His characters have human actions and thoughts, and perceive themselves as human. This is also proven in Maus I when Vladek and his wife Anja are hiding in the cellar of a friend. While in the cellar the two are being pestered by rats. To stop Anja from having a panic attack from being close to the vermin Vladek claims Those aren t rats. They re very small. one just ran over my hand before. They re just mice ( Maus I, 157). This shows that in the world of Art Spiegelman s Maus animals such as rats and mice coexist with the characters that are drawn as rats and mice. Spiegelman also uses masks to help parody the story. The masks in the story are worn by Vladek, and Anja to hide in plain site in Nazi occupied Poland. The characters are illustrated with a pig head, with a very visible string around the mask for the reader to see. This parodies the idea of animals living the Holocaust with the Jews pretending to be Polish. The masks represent their ability to hide within the Polish community, and assimilate with their culture. • 11. Negative Argument on the Green Movement Since the start of civilization, people have created large amounts of waste. It was during the prime of the Roman Empire that people began to worry about where all of this waste was going, and how it damaged the environment (ProQuest Staff). This was the birth of the Green Movement, which is the pursuit of methods to positively impact the environment. According to A Rubbish Map, the world s cities currently generate around 1.3 billion tonnes of [municipal solid waste] a year . This information shows that there is still a very significant negative impact on the environment from human activity in spite of the recent advance of the green movement. Along with this fact of excessive waste still existing, there are many other reasons the green movement has not yet had a positive impact on the environment. The three main restrictions to the green movement causing a positive impact from humans to the environment are continuation of excessive waste in American cities, lack of effective recyclingaround the world, and governments restricting the ability of individuals to live in accordance with the green movement. In America, according to the American Environmental Protection Agency, the average person generates 4.4 pounds of solid waste daily (United States Environmental Protection Agency). This adds up to 250 million tons of solid waste produced in America every year. This total continues to grow, and it grows fast compared to the increase in American population. America reached ... Development of Reader s Feeling for Shylock Throughout William Shakespeare s The Merchant of Venice Shylock s first entrance into the Merchant of Venice leaves you with no definite feelings for him. Although at this point in the play I believe an audience in Shakespeare s time would have been forced to show dislike towards Shylock just because Shylock is a Jew. The Music Shaping Our Society Emily Statt Dr. Joe Erickson English 1302 Section 30 8 October 2012 The Music Shaping Our Society When you turn on the radio and change it to your favorite station, what are most of the songs about? In today s society, the majority of them are probably about sex, drugs, and alcohol. These are the principles mainstream singers like Lil Wayne, Drake and Nicki Minaj are pounding into young people s minds. Instead of directing their music negatively, these artists should try to encourage respectable behavior among our youth. I believe that the negative lyrics in many popular contemporary songs have a negative influence on the youth of America. Look at the statistics on the number of teenage pregnancies in the United States compared to those of earlier times. Drug and alcohol abuse in the United States has also increased over the years and the ages seem to be getting younger. All of these things are very depressing and really make me worry how the next generation will be if ours is this bad. Sadly, we are the only ones to blame for the way our nation is becoming, but the people we idolize play a huge role in the way we portray ourselves as a nation. It s no shock that many of today s popular artists are influencing the youth of America negatively through their lyrics and the way they present themselves. If these young pop artists would realize how much influence they had on our youth, they could really make a change for the better. Gerald Graff s article Hidden Intellectualism backs up this statement and gives an excellent concept that these young artists should follow. In the article Hidden Intellectualism, Graff states that it doesn t matter what you re interested in, as long as you use what you find interesting and look at it through academic eyes (385). I believe that the following artists use Graff s idea and apply it not only to their song lyrics, but also their way of life. At a time when poststructuralism is busily deconstructing the sex/gender linkage in ways that transcend the materiality of the subject, Prosser wants to bring the ontological trans body back into the dialogue by charting the arc of the changing body within transgender narratives. Only by mapping these transitions in this frame can he describe a complex transsexual experience that breaks free from the political binaries used by essentialists and poststructuralists, such as literal/deliteralizing, subversive/hegemonic (16). If the former has been guilty of a dogmatic reliance on a narrow understanding of biology to describe transsexuals, Prosser argues, then the former is equally guilty of deconstructing gender to the point of reducing the material body to an inconvenient concept (13). Although critique of bio determinists is mostly implicit throughout this work (save for Raymond, whose seminal work is called out numerous times), Prosser focuses the bulk of Second Skins on analyzing the queer movement s strategies to initially align with, and then appropriate, transgender subjectivity. He argues from 1998 this is to act as leverage to loosen the fixity of gender identities...(and) enable affiliation between gay men and lesbians (5). While some of this argument reads as antiquated two decades later, the idea of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The definition of Virtual Reality is An artificial environment which is experienced through sensory stimuli (such as sights and sounds) provided by a computer and in which one s actions partially determine what happens in the environment (www.Merriam Webster.com). Virtual reality is probably one of the newest and most advanced way to have a good time with friends and family. Virtual Reality can be used so much more than it is being used today, one day it will control what we do daily. Personally, I have only used a Virtual Reality headset two times. Although I am not very experienced with Virtual Reality, I have had tons of fun with them and they had led to great times with friends. I recently attended a 4 H camp where they had a couple of Virtual reality headsets, they put us in the situation of a drunk driver hitting head on with a driver to show us the possible dangers of drinking and driving. I thought that was one way they could further develop and use this technology. One of the more interesting activities I have done with a Virtual Reality headset besides playing games was exploring the universe and all the it holds. Sure it sounds boring, but these headsets can actually be used for learning which can make a huge difference in schools. This new technology could help with kids of all ages to learn new ways to see in detail what their teacher is trying to explain, and to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A book provides insight of the characters feelings while a movie needs to evoke emotions in a shorter time frame. The Joy Luck Club, written by Amy Tan, was adapted into a film in 1993. Comparing both was quite interesting knowing that Amy Tan could ve kept The Red Candle story and kept a clean view of the aunts in the story. Financial Analysis of the Healthcare Field Introduction In the ever changing dynamic of the healthcare industry, it is central to look at financial trends and different types of financial analysis to capitalize on resources and minimize future impacts. With any growing healthcare organization it is vital to be aware of one s internal and external environment, the community it serves as well as the status of the economy. The purpose of this paper is to determine the significance of certain types of financial analysis, particularly financial ratios, the use of EBITDA and how they influence the healthcare field. EBITDA, Financial Ratios and growing trends in healthcare EBITDA is an acronym which stands for earnings before interest, taxation, depreciation and amortization and generally used to determine how profitable a company can be (Brockman, C., Russell, J., 2012). The basic understanding of the EBITDA is defined as the money the company has made without considering expenses or taxes (Brockman, C., Russell, J., 2012). This can give a false sense of how much the company is actually making or worth. In a hypothetical situation, a company creates a product that costs the consumer $10, and 200 are made to meet the projected demand. With EBITDA, it is assumed there is already a $2000 profit made even if the product is actually never purchased. EBITDA does not calculate the manufacturing costs, taxes and employee salaries that go into making a product. Although EBITDA does not seem to measure the actual value of a ... A decade characterized by the supposed defeat of poverty and racism as well as the conquest of space, was subsequently and surprisingly followed by a decade of chaos and disorder in the world. The country was running out of promise, the troops were running out of Vietnam, and the President was running out of office. Luckily however, the emergence of great music simply could not be affected by the unfortunate economic and social issues going on in the world at the time. Although it might be argued that the narrative logic in silent comedy is irrational and the gags are surreal and dreamlike, the fantasy world in slapstick comedyis more or less reflect the real society and the uncertainty as well as curiosity when people confront the new changes in their day to day life. As Bilton writes, comedy s fantastical harmlessness, its tendency to code phenomena as nonsense, its relief of anxiety via the explosive but innocuous release of laughter all these suggest the comforting panacea of entertainment. Maybe the most comfortable way for people to face the unknown is to make the uncertainty into something that can be laugh about, that is, the slapsticks. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In To Build a Fire by Jack London, the unnamed man decides to take on the challenge of traveling through Alaska in negative fifty degree weather, despite being warned of the dangers. His over confidence has made him fear nothing, not even nature s toughest challenges. Before this crucial experience he was a cocky and confidence man, but in the end he learned to not always trust his own thoughts. The crucial moment the man faces, is when he loses the feeling in his limbs, which leads to the self destruction of his confidence. This happens because of his over confidence and his lack of experience with this type of weather. Other readers may argue that the most crucial moment in this story is when the man tries to make the final run to the town, but collapses during this attempt. • 37. Example Of A Christian Research Paper A Christian is a person who adheres to Christianity, an Abrahamic, monotheistic religion based on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. Christian derives from the Koine Greek word ChristГіs, a translation of the Biblical Hebrew term mashiach. There are diverse interpretations of Christianity which sometimes conflict. However, Whatever else they might disagree about, Christians are at least united in believing that Jesus has a unique significance. It is also used as a label to identify people who associate with the cultural aspects of Christianity, irrespective of personal religious beliefs or practices. According to a 2011 Pew Research Center survey, there were 2.2 billion Christians around the world in 2010, up from about 600 million in 1910. According to 100 Years of Nobel Prizes, a review of Nobel prizes awarded between 1901 and 2000 reveals that of Nobel Prizes laureates identified Christianity in its various forms as their religious preference. Etymology The Greek word, meaning follower of Christ , comes from, meaning anointed one , with an adjectival ending borrowed from Latin to denote adhering to, or even belonging to, as in slave ownership. In the Greek Septuagint, christos was used to translate the Hebrew ЧћЦёЧ©ЦґЧЃЧ™Ч—Ц·, meaning anointed. To keep me from going toward street, she would tell me that there was a 1,700 year old creature called The Ripper that would take small children, rip them of their skin, and eat their remains. Supposedly, it was snake like with faded blue and green scales, arms and legs with six claws each, full blazing yellow eyes, and a long tail with three rows of four sharp spikes. As you can tell, my grandma was really graphic and dramatic. In a way, her graphicness worked and kept me away from the street. She would tell my that if I had ever went to the street and it took me, she would never be able to get over the anguish she would feel. I was always so curious on where the creature lived; a house, on the streets, in the drains. My mission was to find out where it lived, and defeat it. I was really intimidated by it, but I knew that with my strength and confidence, I could do great things. Such as, defeat the old creature. One windy Friday night, my grandma said she needed to go to the grocery store to pick up some materials for dinner. • 39. The Relationship Between Sam Spade And The Maltese Falcon... Both Dashiell Hammett s development of Sam Spade in the Maltese Falcon and Dorothy Sayers development of Harriet Vane in Gaudy Night, leave something to be said about the way British and American detective novels create their characters in line with different views of life. Whether that perspective is relative to the time period and country, or just the views of the author, it is clear that the American hardboilednovel focuses strongly on the self interest of most of the characters, and the self development of Sam Spade and what his perception of life is. Dorothy Sayers develops her protagonist Harriet Vane in a similar way. She too is trying to understand her place in the world and is given the opportunity to do so at Shrewsbury. The two novels contrast either drastically in plot development and the types of crimes, which influences the character s views of their own lives. The Maltese Falcon begins by quickly establishing Sam Spade as a morally complex character after his affair with his partner s wife, even though he is supposed to be the protagonist. Sam Spade s opening description as a blond devil let the readers begin to picture his cynicism. Readers can t expect the normal actions of a protagonist as they can in Gaudy Night. In a sub genre of Mystery, this moral questioning plays on the emotional mystery of not knowing fully that the protagonist is actually going to be the hero.
