Comparing The Culture Of Cajun And Creole
Having considered the other regions I have chosen to do my research on Cajun/Creole, simply
because I wanted to know more about their culture. First and foremost Cajun and Creole food are
both primitive to Louisiana and are found in eating places throughout New Orleans, although you
may find Cajun and Creole throughout Louisianatheir style of cooking is very different, creole in
contrast to Cajuncooking is like night and day. The word creole derives from criollo, a word
American born Spanish and Portuguese individuals of the day used to characterize themselves. The
word Cajun arise from French Les Acadiens. The people well known as Les Acadiens were for the
most part from the Arcadia region of Eastern Quebec, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Northern
Main. Cajun cuisine arrived at Louisianna during the second half of the 18th century, ultimately
after the British drove the French settlers out of the Arcadia region of Canada. Therefore a vast
portion of the inhabitants settled in Southwest Louisiana.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Cajun and Creole are two specific culture and despite the fact that as time goes by and they
continue to mix, there is still an extensive specific difference. For example, creole cuisine uses
tomatoes and authentic Cajun cuisine does not, this is one way you can tell the difference between
a Cajun vs Creole gumbo or jambalaya. The Arcadians were strikingly ingenious inhabitants who
took absolute benefit of the bayous, flatlands, and it s closeness to the Gulf of Mexico to constitute
an absolute rare provincial

The Philosophy Of Science And Science
Before this class began, I thought of myself as a person who tended to lean towards science as
fact based and found it hard to believe in some philosophical and religious claims that were not
backed up by experimentation and evidence. Five weeks later, my views haven t changed
drastically, but have instead been developed and broadened. I now understand the importance of the
philosophy of scienceand why philosophy and science should be interconnected. The need to
question things that may appear to be factual is something I now consider more than ever crossed
my mind before this course. At the beginning of the course, starting in Lecture One, we discussed
the problem of knowledge and the nature of scientific knowledge. The problem of... Show more

Examples like the theory of Plate Tectonics or the Alvarez Theory of mass extinction are cited as
examples of theory acceptance and when it is appropriate. The overarching theme from Losee is
that there are no rules that can objectively decide the acceptance or rejection of a new theory.
This is a confusing aspect of science, but is reflected in the history of scientific discoveries and
those theories we still hold to be true. Some theories are not necessarily confirmed, but are at the
very least agreed upon from empirical observations. By Lecture Four we covered multiple
conceptions of method. Method is central to the scientific enterprise. The founders of modern
science were looking for an impersonal, objective basis for their knowledge claims. This was
coming at a time when science was separating from religion based belief systems. Method is crucial
to determining truth and developing scientific hypotheses. Without a method in place, the goal of
objectivity within science is compromised. Method is discussed throughout the entirety of Losee s
book. Losee generously discusses theory acceptance, rejection, falsification, and replacement. He
aims to show the method behind these based on historical accounts in science, but as stated before,
there is no set group of rules that govern this. Instead the development of hypotheses and theories
that we take are integrated, comprehensive explanation of many facts. These hypotheses and

Evangelical Christian Definition
Over the year I met many people, and I made many friends, however, one of my best friends
named Carol. I met her twenty year ago. She is one of a kind person, and she is an evangelical
Christian. I do not know much about evangelical Christianity, therefore this is an opportunity to
learn about this religion.
Meaning of Evangelical: The evangelical comes from the Greek word euangelion meaning gospel
or good news. However, evangelical can be a person, church, or organization that is committed to
the Christian gospel message that Jesus Christ is the savior of humanity . Evangelical Christians
believe that God creates humankind, and Bible is the guidance. Christians also believe that It is the
final authority in all matters of doctrine and faith above all human authority (Merritt, DEC 7, 2015).
In the United States, Evangelicalism is an umbrella group of Protestant Christians who believe in the
necessity of being born again, emphasize the importance of evangelism, and affirm traditional
Protestant teaching on the authority and the historicity of the Bible. A quarter of the US

John Freyer Iron Analysis
When looking for an iron I do not think many people would expect to see things about labor laws
in China, or loss of jobs here in America, but that is exactly the approach John Freyer took. An
unheard of idea was put into action, and it worked! John posted everything he owned online and
described each item. The items were described using a subjective description. The items were
described using his personal views on the item and the reason for purchasing it. John also used his
sense of humor when describing the items and was able to sell everything he owned. Based on
John s description I was aware the ironwas not the best rated and made using the cheapest materials
available. This iron was meant for people who cannot afford an expensive iron

Patriotism In The United States
What is patriotism? Patriotism is the love that people feel for their country. A few examples of
patriotism are: 1. When we stand up for the pledge in the mornings. 2. When we stand up for the
National Anthem . Those are both examples of patriotism. America is a free country, so people
should be able to practice patriotismif they want to, but if they don t want to they shouldn t have to.
If someone wants to express them and their country they should be patriotic. But if they would
much rather not say anything they shouldn t have to. I do personally believe they should at least
stand during the pledge and put their hand on their heart. They don t necessarily have to say the
pledge but they do need to be the least disrespectful by

The Deadly Marburg Virus
The Deadly Marburg Virus

November 13, 2015
The Deadly Marburg Virus The Marburg virus (MARV (originally known as the Marburg
hemorrhagic fever virus)) was first discovered in 1967 during an epidemic in Germany,
including the city of Marburg (WHO, 2015). This is a deadly, and severe disease that is in the
same viral family as the Ebola virus: the Filoviridae family. The virus may be rare, but it is prone
to massive outbreaks in a secreted population causing a staggering high mortality rate.
How the Marburg Virus Affects the Human Body
This hemorrhagic fever is characterized by a sudden onset and presents a fever, chills and myalgia

Many of these strains are closely related to one another. The first recognized cases of MARV was
in Germany and Serbia in the year 1967 when an outbreak occurred (Mehedi, 2011). This was
nearly a decade before the Ebola virus was found. Even though the origin of the virus was
discovered in African in the African fruit bats, the outbreak began in Europe. During the outbreak,
it was discovered that the source of exposure was to blood and tissue of African green monkeys that
were presumably imported from Uganda (Mehedi, 2011).
One theory presented is that, since primates were infected by the virus in the African landmass,
individuals who come in direct contact with the monkeys are more vulnerable to becoming infected
due to the close genetic link humans have with primates. Unlike Ebola, there have been only three
outbreaks of MARV, and sporadic reports of infection known to date. MARV has the uncertain
dissimilarity of being the only human pathogenic hemorrhagic fever to have been imported into
western countries. This shows that not only the original MARV epidemic in Europe, but also two
recent imported cases in the Netherlands and the United

Write a Proper Evaluation of How Your Organizational...
Organisational culture is defined as the ways in which things are accomplished, a pattern of shared
basic assumptions that the group learned as it solved its problems of external adaptation and
internal integration, that has worked well enough to be considered valid and, therefore, to be taught
to new members as the correct way to perceive, think, and feel in relation to those problems (Schein

Schema Integration Essay
In literature there exist several definitions of Schema:
Schema integration is the process of merging autonomously developed DB schema into a unified,
global schema to provide transparency through a unified view [73].
Schema integration is the process of identifying the components of a database which are related to
one another, selecting the best representation for the global conceptual schema, and finally,
integrating the components of each intermediate schema [74].
12.2.Why is Schema Integration Required?
With respect to the web warehouse, schema integration is one of its important perspectives. There
are heterogeneous sources of data in World Wide Web which vary in their schema configuration.

Pre integration
An analysis of local schemata is carried out. The analysis made governs the choice of schemas to
be integrated and the order of integration. A number of schemas to be integrated at a time and the
amount of designer interaction are also decided in this step [81].
12.4.2.Schema Comparison/Matching
This step involves identifying and analyzing inter schema relationships by determining the
correspondences between the schemas. Possible conflicts are also detected in this phase.
12.4.3.Schema Conforming
In order to integrate schemas, the detected conflicts between them have to be resolved so that it
was possible to merge them [81]. It implies modification of one or both schemas that will be
integrated until each phenomenon in the Universe of the Discourse (UoD) reflects the same form
in both schemas.
12.4.4.Schema Merging
Schema merging results into a single global integrated schema by superimposing the local schemas.
12.5.Conflicts in Schema Integration
Schema integration process may face certain conflicts. The system undergoing the integration
process must be able to identify the arise conflicts. Some of the schema integrations conflicts are
explained below:

The Debate On Gay Marriage
A recent Supreme Court decision ruling that homosexual couples were, by law, allowed to marry
sparked great debate when made public. Advocates for same love rejoiced, painting profile
pictures in the colors of the rainbow and crying out that reform was attainable. On the flip side,
opponents mourned the direction the nation was facing, firing back on social media with firm
viewpoints but little else. For its highly controversial standing, the debate on gay marriage brings to
light a question buried beneath the subject. How does the individual determine right from wrong? It
would seem that a person s moralityis predetermined, but has the ability to change when external
influences act upon it. When injustices arise, the person, based on his or her conscience, will step
in and take action to right the wrong.
A person s conscience points the way in his or her life, guiding where to go, what to do, and how
to speak. This conscience is a pre instilled set of morals that directs how an individual feels on a
certain subject and whether it is right or wrong. The Grapes of Wrath, written by John Steinbeck,
makes good note of this natural inclination, saying that people knew of the right to talk and to
listen (265). The migrant families knew automatically what was acceptable and what was
inappropriate. By nature, the migrants instinctively knew where to step and how to interact. In an
earlier chapter, good conscience is also exhibited when Mae, a waitress, sells candy to a few

Milos (2013) concluded the challenges in the identification of the tax evasion methods developed
by companies and by individuals, as well as the difficulty to eliminate tax evasion, however

Milos suggest the creation of effective fiscal control is necessary rather than dramatic punishment,
implementation of feasible legislative system, increase taxawareness or tax education among
citizens, and implementation of clear, concise, simple, precise and stable fiscal or taxationlaws to
fight tax evasion (p.171). Milos recommended several approaches to fight against tax evasion that
must be implemented at once:
Optimizing the legislative normative framework,
Continuously rendering effective the institutions that would fight tax evasion by eliminating the
persons that could be subject to corruption,
Diminishing the taxes and charges,
Finishing the integrated customs system of securing the borders,
Simplifying the taxation system,
Rendering transparent the system, process, results and others connected to fighting the taxation

Why Tupac Shakur Is Alive
Tupac Shakur is alive because of how he was in general. Tupac Shakur is a American rapper and

was going to happen the night of September 7,1996. The case is still unsolved to this day 22
years later. He is still out there and these are some good reasoning on why you should believe
this. The first reason is his nickname Makaveli that name comes from Niccolo Machiavelli an
Italian war strategist and philosopher who use faking one s death to fool their enemies and how
this nickname has to do with his music. This is significant because His lyrics talked about faking
his death and coming back. He was gunned down exactly seven months after All Eyez On Me was

Stereotyping In The Media
How often do we find ourselves laughing at an inappropriate stereotype that is promoted in the
media? It seems that as we continue to move through time, stereotypes in the media become more
and more prominent. Some find them as forms of comic relief while others, including myself, see
them as another way to showcase our ignorance of the people and world around us. The stereotype
that revolves around Indians, also known as South Asians, tends to be the most recognizable. In
order to understand this stereotype in the media, we will focus on the typical stereotypes that
involve this group of people, why we stereotype against Indians, and ways it effects future
generations. What are some of the more popular shows in our media that portray... Show more

In the beginning, the stereotypes developed were seen as acceptable because they represented
Indians. As we move through time, they have become over exaggerated and unacceptable. The
stereotypes have been pushed to an unbelievable limit and they stopped coming off as funny to
Indians. Since these stereotypes were created, the Indian community has outgrown them and no
longer sees them as accurate representation. Pari Mathur explains in his article titles Who I Was
and Who I Want to Be Indian Americans in Media that unfortunately, the media s preconceived
idea of Indians makes it difficult for society to look at Indians and not see just a dude who
bobbles his head with a mustache, because that s what they ve seen on TV (Mathur, 2013). After
speaking with my close friend, Shobin Shanko, a first generation Indian American, he explains
that in comparison to other stereotypes, they are moving away from the stereotypical ways that
they were portrayed back in the day versus Indian and Asian stereotypes are still very prevalent
(Shanko, 2016). In order to change how society views Indians in the media, it is up to the Indian
community to begin breaking down the stereotypes. The breakdown of stereotypes has begun in
more recent years. Actors, specifically Indian actors, have worked to fix these stereotypes. In the

Stereotypes In The Outsiders By SE Hinton
In the Out Siders written by SE Hinton, set in the 1960 s, is a novel focused on Two Stereotypical
youth gangs, the greasers (east side people who are poor), and the Socs (Westside people who are
rich). SE Hinton has included many themes throughout the novel, as the story develops around
youth conflict between these two stereotypical youth sides, and how a death could mean so much
to both. This is shown as SE Hinton communicates the themes, Stereotypes, family, and empathy
throughout The Outsiders . Stereotypes are a common theme in the outsiders, SE Hinton shows
this in the novel as Ponyboy refers to the term greasers , (chapter one page three) He continues

characters in the outsiders were classed upon money, showing us that SE Hinton is trying to show

Human Improduction And The Process Of The Human...
Human Reproduction is a process in which a new human is created. It is essential because it is
needed in order to sustain our population and ensure our species survival. The male reproductive
system contributes sperm, the male sex cell, this sex cell contains 23 chromosomes. The male
reproductive system is also in charge of releasing the sperm into the female s vagina and make
sure that it reaches the female s egg. The female reproductive system is in charge of creating egg
cells, the female reproductive sex cell containing 23 chromosomes. The female reproductive
system is also in charge of making sure fertilization, implantation and that the embryo successfully
develops and is born. The male reproductive system is in charge of making healthy sperm(male
sex cell) and making sure that it successfully reaches the egg of the female. As most systems are,
the male reproductive system is a combination of many components. It all starts at the seminiferous
tubules within the testes, where the sperm is created, however, the testes create hormones that
regulate the production of sperm. Surrounding the testes is the scrotum, a sac of skin that keeps
the sperm at about 3 degrees Celsius below body temperature. After the sperm matures, it is stored
in the epididymis until ejaculation occurs, during ejaculation, the epididymis contracts, releasing
the sperm into the vas deferens, a long tube that connects the urethra and the epididymis. The
sperm then passes by 3 glands, the seminal vesicle which provides sugars, the prostate gland
which provides an alkaline fluid for protection and finally the Cowper s gland which provides a
lubricant for the sperm to travel in. This mixture of substances, called semen is ejaculated out the
urethra and finally the penis and hopefully into the female s reproductive system. However the
penis must be erect for the sperm to successfully enter the female s vagina, this is where erectile
tissue comes in, the tissue is inflated with blood, keeping the penis erect and ensuring that the
sperm enters the vagina. The female reproductive system is in charge of creating eggs and ensuring
the development of the embryo into a fully grown fetus. Just like the male reproductive system, the

The Apartheid Of South African Apartheid
The avowal that the apartheid vision for democracy necessitated state terror and repression is
evident when examining the South African apartheid system between 1960 1994. The system of
apartheid spiked significant internal resistance, hence, the ideology for apartheid stems from the
creation of a white state surrounded by economically interdependent and politically dependent black
states, which required state terror and repression to ensure mounting resistance and international
condemnation did not abolish the apartheid system. The government responded to a series of
popular uprisings and protests with police brutality, which increased support for armed resistance.
Detentions were set without trial, torture, censorship and the outlawing of political oppositional
organizations such as The African National Congress, the Black Conscious Movement, the Azanian
Peoples Organisation, The Pan Africanist Congress and the United Democratic Front, were all a
result of the apartheid government due to political resistance.
In 1960 South Africa s policies were subject to international scrutiny and the Sharpeville massacre
resulted in international condemnation. The United Nations conservative stance on the apartheid
changed. The Sharpeville massacre had shaken the global community, with the apartheid regime
threatening that it would possess violent behavior and lead into state terror to repress opposition to
racial inequity. Apartheid was seen as a danger to the global community in

Ups Competitive Advantage
UPS S Competitive Advantage Instructor Cretson Dalmadge MIS 3360 W1 February 3, 2010 In
order for an organization to be more competitive, it s imperative for them to stay abreast of the
latest technology. The early 1990 s marked the start of another era of change at UPS (United Parcel
Service of America inc, 1994). Technological Change was necessary to accommodate the increased
volume of packages. This paper will explore the challenges faced by the business along with the
network functionalities and the benefits that the changes in technology contributed. Organizations

UPS s transformation to the future is successful because of its competence to give customers
quality service while continuing to service as many clients that want to be serviced. This device
has proven to be a success for UPS because customers are able to get real time information on
delivery status and great reliability as a result of the back up system. In 1998, UPS changed its
purpose in the company charter to, We enable global commerce (mobileinfo, 1999). Therefore,
UPS technology upgrade was a benefit for the company to give it a competitive edge. Through the
upgrade UPS was able to accommodate the volume of customers and their demand for delivered
packages. UPS accessed the Industry, recognized the need for change, and responded with a device
that met their technological needs. Although UPS might have faced some challenges with the
implementation of the device; however, they prevailed and is still one of Americas top choice
delivery company. If UPS hadn t taken the initiative to computerize their technology, UPS would
not be as successful as it is today. The implementation of the DIAD board and the PAS system has
helped UPS to function efficiently and to stay in the mainstream of the technological race. Even
though there were challenges to implement the devices that revolutionize the package

A Brief Note On The Hip Hop Industry Essay
YG, an inner city black rapper within the hip hop industry, is a Blood gang member who was born
and raised in Compton, California. Pitbull, on the other hand, is a Cuban hip hop artist, born in
Miami, Florida, and is been more famously recognized within the music industry, in terms of fame
and financial success. While these two artists come from opposite ends of the country, they do share
similarities within their music and performance of hip hop culture, in that they both utilize
problematic themes like misogyny, sexual objectification, and violence towards women in their
lyrics and music videos, which are notorious subjects within hip hop music. They also pair this with
rhetoric that glamorizes and fetishizes partying, drugs, and alcohol, as well, performing in flashy
ensemble and jewelry as a display of wealth and class. YG and Pitbull also express pride within
their music for their backgrounds and where they come from, as Pitbull often incorporates Spanish
within his lyrics and even discusses Cuban politics in his song Give Me Everything. This is an
important reference because Cuba is also very much much involved with hip hop culture, especially
in American hip hop culture, by artists like Pitbull, who using body posturing and gesture evocative
of U.S. rap performances, their lyrics are sung in a distinctly Cuban Spanish vernacular over
rhythms often incorporating Afro Cuban musical elements (Neal Forman, 2012, pg. 302). YG

The David Story, And The Iliad
In the books The David Story, and The Iliad the overall stories show us that history has evolved. In
which case, we read the differences between the human relationships toward their god(s). In The
David Story, David turns to Yahweh for advice, reassurance, and in some instances, a second
opinion, whereas in The Iliad, Achilles is overseen by the god of wisdom and military victory,
Athena. The relationships between the humans and their god have similarities but are also
significantly different.
The Iliad takes place in a city, Troy, which is in modern day Turkey. Achilles a great warrior of
Greek mythology participated in the Trojan War, on which Homer s epic poem, The Iliad is based.
Achilles was the son of Thetis and Peleus, king of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Achilles had been struck down and needed the courage to go and fight. Athena is in favor of the
Greeks because she saw a part of herself in Achilles, and frankly because she hated the Trojans.
Fate bound the gods in Book 22 lines 190 209. As Achilles was face to face with Hector, Zeus
showed pity for Hector. In this scene, Zeus knew that Hector was destined to die. Zeus wanted to
save Hector, but was persuaded by Athena that it was Hector s time. Athena argued with him that
if he would step in and save Hector that many other gods would be upset with his actions. Not
only would the gods be angry, but death was Hector s fate, and the gods were bound to it. This is
an example of how fate outweighed what the gods wanted to happen. Zeus was wrestling with the
thought of saving Hector or allowing Hector to meet his fate.
Achilles and Athena s relationship seemed to be superficial. Although Athena seemed to care for
Achilles, her motive came from viewing parts of herself within him. The gods seemed to
intervene when the scene looked as if it needed a bit of excitement. For example, in Book 22,
Hector was being chased along the city wall by Achilles. Athena presented herself in the image of
Hector s brother, DeГЇphobus, to persuade Hector to stop running and fight with Achilles.
In The David Story, the largest portion of the story, takes place in Jerusalem. David was a great
warrior of the Hebrew era. He was famously known for killing the Philistine giant, Goliath. He

Masculinity in the Works of Herman Melville
Herman Melville s novels, with good reason, can be called masculine. Moby Dick may, also with
good reason, be called a man s book and that Melville s seafaring episode suggests a patriarchal, anti
feminine approach that adheres to the nineteenth century separation of genders. Value for
masculinity in the nineteenth century America may have come from certain expected roles males
were expected to fit in; I argue that its value comes from examining it not alone, but in relation to
and in concomitance with femininity. As Richard H. Brodhead put it, Moby Dickis so outrageously
masculine that we scarcely allow ourselves to do justice to the full scope of masculinism
(Brodhead 9). I concur with Brodhead in that remark, and that Melville s... Show more content on

Rather than conforming to aged, socially constructed masculine roles, Melville is challenging them
by concealing feminine characteristics in his most manly concepts; he is trying to take a man born
in once independent Man, and, in this novel, now [unman] Man (M D 391). [S]mall erections may
be finished by their first architects, Ishmael reflects to himself about the Cathedral of Cologne, but
grand ones, true ones, ever leave the copestone to posterity. God keep me from completing anything
(M D 125). Melville uses ancient architecture and constructions as phallic metaphors to imply that
they must remain incomplete if they are to remembered as grand and true . A chapter in which
gender sentiments are comically muddled is the chapter known as The Tail , where Melville
takes part in disassembling, at the same time celebrating, this obviously phallic symbol and uses
careful and also obvious language to stress its feminine, as well as masculine, qualities. In the tail
the confluent measureless force of the whole whale seems concentrated to a point (M D 294),
Melville describes what superficially sound as only be phallic and masculine qualities. However,
Melville does not allow the tail to be easily written off as overtly masculine. The tail s amazing
strength does not cripple the graceful flexion of its motions ; rather it

Pan1 And Genetic Domain Structures
In contrast to Sc, Ca, and Mo that share the Pan1 Las17/Bee1 endocytic pathway, Cn appears to
adopt a distinct Cin1 Wsp1 endocytic pathway for transport, growth, and virulence [22]. Both Cin1
and Wsp1 display domain structures similar, but not identical, to human ITSN1 and WASp than to
Sc/Ca Pan1 and Las17/Bee1 [23, 24]. These findings suggest a unique intracellular transport process
occurring in Cn and raise several important questions. As endocytic proteins function by interacting
with other partner proteins, what are the other binding partners of Cin1 in the pathway? Does Cin1
mediated endocytic pathway contribute to specific virulence characteristics? We are uniquely
positioned to address these critical questions.

The intriguing finding that Cin1 S confers a CNS survival advantage provides a novel avenue to
probe the CNS propensity of Cn. Finally, given the importance of exRNA in intercellular cellular
communication, it is tempting to speculate that Cin1 regulates uptake and export of exRNA to play
a role in host pathogen interactions and pathogenesis. Because of our recent advances, we believe
we may possess an unprecedented system to probe the mechanism of pathogenesis in Cn.
C. Approach Cn is a haploid budding yeast with a well defined life cycle. It also has proven to be

The Foundation Of Social Philosophy And The Philosophy Of...
III Social Philosophy literally means philosophy of society. Society means general society, the
network of social relations, and not any particular society because the philosophical view points
towards universality. According to Daya Krishna, society is the sort of reality, the truth of existence
of every being in relation with each other. Hence, the subject of social philosophy is the human
society as a whole. As the relations that exist between the objects of nature are different from social
relations, social philosophy does not concern itself with nature and creatures other than man. Mere
coexistence, either among the people of one nation or among the nations themselves, is not enough
for social relations. In the field of social relations, social change and control cause integrative and
disintegrative processes. Both similarity and dissimilarity are to be found in society, though the
former is more important. Unity in diversity... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So are all the social sciences. But it is concerned only with their more general aspects not with
each one of them. The scope of social philosophy can be understood by comprehending its main
problem which is to discover the philosophical foundations of the society. Since the beginning of
knowledge, philosophers have been trying to study the philosophical foundations of various aspects
of human society. They have discovered how far the society is eternal and natural and how far it is
changing and artificial. Whereas some thinkers believe that the individual is independent of society,
others emphasize the social nature of the individual. According to Aristotle, man is born social
animal. On the other hand, Jean Jacques Rousseau held that man s social nature is the product of a
social contract. Indian philosophers too have studied the social nature of man as natural. About the
main problem of social philosophy, John Stuart Mackenzie may be quoted

Irish Stereotypes
Stereotypes and the Monster They Make
As seen through history, people of different racial, social, ethnic, and religious groups are made
into monsters to be feared by the American media. The Irish were drawn as scary, violent
drunkards who should not be trusted. The Japanese were classified as enemy aliens, and believed to
be untrustworthy. Chinese were lazy, evil, womanizing workers stealing jobs. Xenophobia took a
strong hold, causing mass panic of the white men at the sight of the orange and yellow men. Each
of these stereotypes portrayed in the media through political cartoons created monsters in the white
Americans eyes.
Irish immigrants faced a stereotype of being drunk and violent. Political cartoons were a perfect
medium for the media to infect American homes with xenophobia. Irish were drawn to look similar
to monkeys, often wielding a bottle of rum with them. Most political cartoons showed Irish fighting

Montenegro Part A CDM in Montenegro
Draft Page 2 of 11
Introduction
The Kyoto Protocol of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change calls for the
industrialized countries listed in Annex I of the Convention to reduce their greenhouse gas
emissions to 1990 levels during the period of 2008 2012. The three flexible mechanisms of the
Kyoto Protocol allow Annex I countries to achieve part of their emission reduction commitments
abroad. The CDM allows an Annex I Party to implement a project that reduces greenhouse gas
emissions or, subject to constraints, removes greenhouse gases by carbon sequestration, or sinks, in
the territory of a non Annex I Party. The resulting certified emission reductions, known as CERs,
can then be used by the Annex I Party to help meet its emission reduction target. The host country
will benefit from the increased investment flows and from the transfer of clean technologies
instrumental to advance the sustainable development goals.
All countries wishing to participate in the CDM have to designate a National CDM Authority with
the task of evaluating and approving the projects. This authority is termed the
Designated National Authority (DNA). The main tasks to be carried out by the DNA for the
CDM are to provide written approval to the project participants that participation by the Host
country is voluntary and to

Fourth Amendment Violations
The US Patriot Act: Violations of the 4th Amendment
The US Patriot Act was a very controversial act that was created after the events of September 11,
2011. Although many sanctions under the US Patriot Act grossly violated the fourth amendment in
several ways, congress felt it was necessary to protect the nation. Sections that violated the fourth
amendment are: the sneak and peek warrants included in section 213, roving/warrantless
wiretapping of section 206, and finally trap and trace searches of section 214. These are just a few
of the many violations I can account for. The Fourth Amendment is part of the Bill of Rights that
was added to the Constitution in 1791. It protects people from unlawful searches and seizures. This
means that the police can t search you or your house without a warrant or probable cause. Are we

Define: Currency
Currency: curВ·renВ·cy /Л€kЙ™rЙ™nsД“/ noun a system of money in general use in a particular
country.
Introduction:
Money and Currency have always been a widely discussed topic, it is believed that if you
understand the economy you can have anything you could ever wish for, for this reason research
into my topic has been interesting. There is an abundance of information on the topic, and many
sources contain individual opinions which I believe are invaluable for research such as this
because it provides a perspective I would have otherwise not seen. It is widely accepted that
Currency consists only of an agreement within a community to use something as a medium
exchange and that a community no longer refers to a few hundred in a town but a few billion all
spread out across the globe. Although the means in which we pay for things change as time moves
on, the very nature of Currency stays the same.
When discussing currency the first thought that comes to mind is cold hard cash, the very form of
money that fuels our everyday lives. However, the very nature of the dollar is something beyond
the scope of a simple definition, to fully understand currency we must start at a simpler level; that
simple level being a LET System. A local exchange trading system; abbreviated to LETS or
LETSystem is a locally initiated, democratically organised, not for profit community enterprise that

will keep its focus on Technology, Communications and Media as Subsistence. The Republic of
Singapore is the second smallest country in Asia and consists of Singapore Island and several
smaller islands off the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula. Singapore s geographic location gives
it strategic importance in the region. It is mostly low lying and hilly, with sections of rain forest,
and mangrove groves. The tropical climate is characterized by heavy rainfall and high humidity.
Average winter temperatures are 75В°F and average summer temperatures are 88В°F. The nation s

(www.singstat.gov.sg) There are many reasons why Singapore has been able to attract large
volumes of foreign direct investment (FDI). The most important of these are its liberal investment
climate, its stable and incorrupt political and business regime, its world class infrastructure, its
highly educated workforce, its competitive economy and its favourable tax system (which includes
special incentives for FDI). With strong government support, Singapore has one of the most
advanced, competitive and mature technology, communications and media (TCM) sectors in the
world. Although constrained by a small domestic market, Singapore s TCM industry still offers
great opportunities for equipment manufacturers, service providers and network operators,
especially in the mobile phone and digital media sectors. (Ghesquiere 2010) After the full
liberalisation of the telecommunications sector in January 2000, Singapore s mobile
communications market has become highly competitive. The largest mobile phone service
provider remains SingTel, a telecom company which is a subsidiary of Temasek Holdings, the
investment arm of the Singaporean government. The share of mobile telecoms revenues in total
telecoms revenues rose from 36.0% in 2003 to 45.2% in 2008. Almost all Singaporean households
own a mobile phone as the rate of household possession of mobile phones reached 98.7% in 2008,
up from 85.0% in 2003. With an almost full penetration rate, the

Regulation of Aviation at the Federal, State and Local Level
Regulation of Aviation at the Federal, State and Local Level
Aviation has an impact on everybody and everything. Not only does it have an impact on a
worldwide base, but it also has as big an impact on local business. Aviation in regulated in many
different ways nationwide. There are many regulations that are federal, such as airspace, and must
be obeyed by everyone and there are regulations that are local, such as traffic pattern altitude, and
must be obeyed as if they were federal regs. As in any other field of work there are laws and
regulations people must obey by. If people were allowed to do what ever they want, then we would
live in a world of chaos. There are many different levels of regulation in the aviation industry....

For example like traffic pattern altitudes, these figures are different in every single airport. That
shows enforcement on local regulation. Now of course that s as simple as it gets. Local
regulation is usually of the airport it involves. Like lets say every airport has many different
procedures. Let s take Republic airport in Long Island. Now republic airport is a general
aviation airport with corporate jets flying in and out of it. Now some of the regulations, which
apply or are made by Republic, are noise abatement. Noise abatement is a procedure you most
follow in order to comply with airport departure procedures. Every single airport in the country
is different so no single one will have to same procedures. Then also instrument procedures and
minimums according to the airport elevation and also obstruction clearance it differs. There are
set minimums by the federal regulation in case the airport doesn t have minimums, but each
airport institutes its own minimums depending on the type of instrument approach it has.
Airspeeds are also a local regulation. Now there are set standards for airspeeds all around the
nation, but in the local area each airport has it max s and min s. All these regulations are also
dealt by the FAA but the local ATC and airport administration are involved in seeing what s safe
for the airport. Not only does the airport admin. Have say in it but also the people of around the

Oral Health Among Korean Older Adults
Title: Using CBPR Methods to Address Oral Health among Korean Older Adults
1.Significance:
The proposed research, which uses Community Based Participatory Research (CBPR) methods,
builds on Dr. Ahluwalia s existing work with homebound older adults, which seeks to inform oral
health policy for New York City home delivered meal recipients in New York City (NYC). The
proposed research will focus on working with the Korean community in NYC to understand oral
health needs among Korean older adults, and to use the data collected to inform the development of
oral health related interventions for this population.
A recent review of the oral health literature indicates that there are few studies that document oral
health needs among Koreans in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, the goal of this project is to use CBPR methods to collaborate with partners in the
Korean community to address oral health among a particularly vulnerable subset of the Korean
community older adults who may have significant medical, cognitive and functional co morbidities,
and who may find it difficult to navigate the oral and health care systems due to challenges
associated with language, transportation and culture. By working with KCS, we hope to improve
the visibility of oral health in the Korean community, and to leverage the potential of the
collaboration to address oral health in other Korean groups e.g. children and family. CBPR methods
are an effective way to achieve this goal because they require working closely with KCS, the
community partner, and seek to enhance the capacity of the community, thus enhancing the
potential sustainability of future intervention programs. The proposed research can potentially
impact approximately 5000 Korean seniors through KCS.
The proposed research builds on Dr. Kavita Ahluwalia s continuing CBPR project titled Oral
health and nutrition in NYC HDM recipients . I have been working with Dr.Ahluwalia on this
project for the past year. I want to extend and apply what I have

English And Social Studies Class
Everyone s eyes were on the whiteboard as my teacher began writing what we all dreaded. The
fourth hour bell had just rung in my 10th grade honors English class, and I was just as nervous as
my classmates as I read out the words on the board. It was time for our In class essay test , which
our teacher announced would be given out randomly this week. The notion of writingessays for the
class never made me worried, but the fact that this one would be written in class and completely
graded on grammar usage concerned me, along with my classmates. My teacher fixed his
glasses and began setting the timer, after handing out the news story that we were tasked to
write about. I took a deep breath and began writing, hoping for the best. A week after that hour of
painstaking writing, I was surprised to find that I got a perfect score. That event first opened my
eyes to the types of classes I shine in. I predominantly succeed in English and social studies class.
I attribute my success to the nature of the classes, my study habits in those classes, my
relationship with teachers and students in the class, and, above all, my family pushing me along
the way. The first factor I noticed that helped me thrive in English and social studies classes is
how they are usually structured. One of the unique characteristics of these classes was that they
were discussion based classes. Along with being able to express your ideas freely, the classes also
give students a chance to reflect on

Light Pollution Essay
rtificial illumination consists one of the most useful and integral parts of the human civilisation as
it allows all human activities to expand during the night or to take 30 place in areas where the

The International Dark Sky Association define light pollution as:

Light also affects the melatonin production, which is a major biochemical signal depending on
darkness. Melatonin production is increased during the night and maintains the circadian cycle.
Scientists have found that melatonin production decreases with the impact of light. A disruption in
the circadian rhythm, like light exposure during the night, inhibits the signal system and therefore
the production of melatonin. According to IDA (2012) melatonin suppression occurs instantly upon
light exposure and stops when the lights are turned off. IDA maintained that a prolonged, daily
occurring, exposure to light during the melatonin producing phase at night, could lead to chronic
melatonin suppression which could evoke depression. light exposure at night could cause elevating
heart rate, irregular core body temperature and affecting cortisol production.
Circadian rhythm sleep disorder is caused by inappropriate exposure to light which may include
sleep problems, fatigue, forgetfulness, performance problems and gastrointestinal problems. The
long term effects of these problems might be increased cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes and
some types of cancer.

Essay on Writing Techniques in Poe s The Raven
Writing Techniques in Poe s The Raven
Edgar Allan Poe uses several writing techniques to create a single concentrated effect of unending
despair in his classic poem, The Raven. The most noticeable technique is the use of repetition. Just
as repeated exposure to cold raindrops can chill one to the bone, repeated exposure to words of
hopelessness and gloom creates a chilling effect. Poe saturates the reader with desperate futility by
repetitive use of the words nothing more and nevermore. These two phrases, used in refrain to end
seventeen of the poem s eighteen stanzas, drench the reader with melancholy. Poe also uses
repetition to spark the reader s curiosity. He refers to the sound of rapping or tapping eight times in

This rare radiance stands in stark contrast to the grim, ungainly, ghastly, gaunt, and ominous raven
who now never leaves his chamber (71). Lenore is referred to as a sainted maiden (94), whereas the
raven is referred to as a prophet! and a thing of evil! (85, 91). The radiance of Lenore is contrasted
with the speaker s soul, which he describes as being under a shadow (107). These contrasts serve to
draw attention to the most significant contrast described in the poem: an intelligent, well read,
loving man interprets a bird seeking shelter on a cold night as an emblem of never ending anguish
and succumbs to depression and madness.
Poe masterfully chooses his words to create an effect. He introduces the idea that the tapping is
caused by something at his window lattice (33) followed by Let me see, then, what thereat is (34).
His choice of the word thereat is interesting in that it suggests the word threat . The sharp t sound
at the end of thereat conjures the sound of pecking on glass. The experience of hearing what the
speaker hears serves to increase the bond the reader feels with the speaker.
Poe s masterful alliteration likewise creates mood as exhibited in the phrase, And the silken sad
uncertain (13). These words are not commonly used together. The repetitive s sound forces the
reader to hesitate when reading the line, leading the reader to identify with the uncertainty that the
speaker is experiencing. In a similar way, the

Essay on Son of the Morning Star
Son of the Morning Star Analysis
Evan S. Connell has a unique writing style. While most stories are told from beginning to end, Son
of the Morning Star: Custer and The Little Bighorn (North Point Press, 1984) begins with the
aftermath of The Battle of the Little Bighorn. It is then followed by numerous events which led up
to this battle. Connell chose this non linear writing style in order to distribute the details he finds
most fascinating and interesting to share with his audience. Using the conclusion of the battle as
the introduction of the narrative creates a suspenseful tone.
In the beginning of the story, the setting is the battle field which The Battle of the Little Bighorn
had taken place a few days earlier. Lieutenant James ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

He also includes a background on Chief Gall as well, providing facts about his birthplace and

sympathy than respect. So it appears that not through any legacy did he become a chieftain... (pg.

Throughout the story, the audience develops an idea of the motives of the Native Americans during
the battle. The reader becomes aware of what Sitting Bull was thinking:
If Sitting Bull did indeed call off the attack it was not because of any affection for whites, who, he
hated with abiding and impenetrable rancor, but because he understood how vindictive they could
be. If all the soldiers were slaughtered the whites would insist upon another battle... (pg. 76)
The audience was not only given an idea of what they were thinking before the battle. The author
also makes a point to include a song that the Indians wrote after they had defeated General Custer
and his men, At that time the Indians did not realized they had fought Custer...when they found out,
they sang about him. David Humphreys Miller transcribed one such kill song... (pg. 54)
With the erudition given in the story, the reader concludes that the Native American leaders were
fully developed human beings.

The Engineer Extraordinaire
An engineering career can give options to a college graduate that are hard to match. Engineering
is a rewarding career path that requires hard work, and dedication. The hard work of a prospective
engineer can be shown in the benefits he receives upon entering the workforce. For example,
according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the starting salaries of engineers are among the highest
in the nation ( Engineers , 2012, para. 4). Good things come to those who work hard. Mechanical

Mechanical engineers, according to Mechanicalengineeringinformation.com, can receive up to
the average base salary which, ...is around $66,000 per year ( Mechanical Engineering Salary ,
2012). As history progressed, the need for engineers greatly increased and more people were
willing to pay for a good engineer. The World Book verifies that it was around the time of the
industrial revolution that the role of engineers expanded more rapidly ( Engineering , 1999).
Ever since then, the need for engineers has grown even more. Engineering Degrees 101.com
states that today, the body of engineers in the U.S. is 1.5 million strong and still growing ( How
long does it take to become an engineer? , 2012). It would appear that these people liked being
paid a lot of money, so they became engineers.
Quite often, prospective engineers partake in more than 4 years of college, but other options are
available. Sometimes an individual does not require any more than 2 years of education in
engineering. According to Worldwidelearn.com, Some engineering schools and 2 year colleges
have agreements whereby the 2 year college provides the initial engineering education (

Mangroves in the Australian Ecosystem Essay
Mangroves in Australia
Introduction
Mangroves are an integral part of the Australian ecosystem. They are valuable ecologically,
economically and socially. Mangroves provide nurseries to an abundance of marine species which
would die if the ecosystem was knocked out of balance. They also account for about 75% of
commercially caught fish in Australia. Unfortunately mangroves are under constant threat from
humans. Since European settlement in Australia, around 17% of Australia s mangroves have been
destroyed. Three large threats to mangroves are coastal development, chemical runoff and climate
change. These factors are all caused by humans, and can be easily stopped without much hassle.

The Aboriginal people have been able to extract these benefits without causing direct damage to the
mangrove ecosystem. Mangroves also play a large role in tourism. They provide a place for tourists
to go bird watching and partake in many other recreational activities. Human Impacts on Mangroves
Humans have played a large role in the destruction of mangroves. Pollutants, such as oil, fertilizers
and toxic chemicals, have affected the growth of mangroves. These pollutants are all forms of
waste produced by humans. Oil spills release large amounts of oil into the mangrove ecosystem.
This oil can smother the roots of mangrove trees, which kills the mangroves. Deforestation is
caused when many mangrove systems are cut down in order to develop infrastructure on the
mangrove site. When fertilizers and other nutrient filled products are not disposed of properly, the
result is eutrophication. Mangroves act as nurseries to fish and other marine animals. Currently too
many sea creatures are being fished, leading to the destruction of the mangrove ecosystem.
Deforestation
Many people see mangroves as nothing more than smelly, useless, trees, taking up valuable
building space. Lack of knowledge about the values of mangroves leads to them being cut down,
in order to build human settlements. So far, about 35% of the world s mangroves have been
destroyed. Most of the mangroves have been destroyed in

  • 5. The Philosophy Of Science And Science Before this class began, I thought of myself as a person who tended to lean towards science as fact based and found it hard to believe in some philosophical and religious claims that were not backed up by experimentation and evidence. Five weeks later, my views haven t changed drastically, but have instead been developed and broadened. I now understand the importance of the philosophy of scienceand why philosophy and science should be interconnected. The need to question things that may appear to be factual is something I now consider more than ever crossed my mind before this course. At the beginning of the course, starting in Lecture One, we discussed the problem of knowledge and the nature of scientific knowledge. The problem of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Examples like the theory of Plate Tectonics or the Alvarez Theory of mass extinction are cited as examples of theory acceptance and when it is appropriate. The overarching theme from Losee is that there are no rules that can objectively decide the acceptance or rejection of a new theory. This is a confusing aspect of science, but is reflected in the history of scientific discoveries and those theories we still hold to be true. Some theories are not necessarily confirmed, but are at the very least agreed upon from empirical observations. By Lecture Four we covered multiple conceptions of method. Method is central to the scientific enterprise. The founders of modern science were looking for an impersonal, objective basis for their knowledge claims. This was coming at a time when science was separating from religion based belief systems. Method is crucial to determining truth and developing scientific hypotheses. Without a method in place, the goal of objectivity within science is compromised. Method is discussed throughout the entirety of Losee s book. Losee generously discusses theory acceptance, rejection, falsification, and replacement. He aims to show the method behind these based on historical accounts in science, but as stated before, there is no set group of rules that govern this. Instead the development of hypotheses and theories that we take are integrated, comprehensive explanation of many facts. These hypotheses and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Evangelical Christian Definition Over the year I met many people, and I made many friends, however, one of my best friends named Carol. I met her twenty year ago. She is one of a kind person, and she is an evangelical Christian. I do not know much about evangelical Christianity, therefore this is an opportunity to learn about this religion. Meaning of Evangelical: The evangelical comes from the Greek word euangelion meaning gospel or good news. However, evangelical can be a person, church, or organization that is committed to the Christian gospel message that Jesus Christ is the savior of humanity . Evangelical Christians believe that God creates humankind, and Bible is the guidance. Christians also believe that It is the final authority in all matters of doctrine and faith above all human authority (Merritt, DEC 7, 2015). In the United States, Evangelicalism is an umbrella group of Protestant Christians who believe in the necessity of being born again, emphasize the importance of evangelism, and affirm traditional Protestant teaching on the authority and the historicity of the Bible. John Freyer Iron Analysis When looking for an iron I do not think many people would expect to see things about labor laws in China, or loss of jobs here in America, but that is exactly the approach John Freyer took. An unheard of idea was put into action, and it worked! John posted everything he owned online and described each item. The items were described using a subjective description. The items were described using his personal views on the item and the reason for purchasing it. John also used his sense of humor when describing the items and was able to sell everything he owned. When we stand up for the pledge in the mornings. 2. When we stand up for the National Anthem . Those are both examples of patriotism. America is a free country, so people should be able to practice patriotismif they want to, but if they don t want to they shouldn t have to. If someone wants to express them and their country they should be patriotic. But if they would much rather not say anything they shouldn t have to. The Deadly Marburg Virus The Deadly Marburg Virus Brent Reitz GBIO 225 November 13, 2015 The Deadly Marburg Virus The Marburg virus (MARV (originally known as the Marburg hemorrhagic fever virus)) was first discovered in 1967 during an epidemic in Germany, including the city of Marburg (WHO, 2015). This is a deadly, and severe disease that is in the same viral family as the Ebola virus: the Filoviridae family. The virus may be rare, but it is prone to massive outbreaks in a secreted population causing a staggering high mortality rate. The first recognized cases of MARV was in Germany and Serbia in the year 1967 when an outbreak occurred (Mehedi, 2011). This was nearly a decade before the Ebola virus was found. Even though the origin of the virus was discovered in African in the African fruit bats, the outbreak began in Europe. During the outbreak, it was discovered that the source of exposure was to blood and tissue of African green monkeys that were presumably imported from Uganda (Mehedi, 2011). One theory presented is that, since primates were infected by the virus in the African landmass, individuals who come in direct contact with the monkeys are more vulnerable to becoming infected due to the close genetic link humans have with primates. Unlike Ebola, there have been only three outbreaks of MARV, and sporadic reports of infection known to date. MARV has the uncertain dissimilarity of being the only human pathogenic hemorrhagic fever to have been imported into western countries. Organisational culture is defined as the ways in which things are accomplished, a pattern of shared basic assumptions that the group learned as it solved its problems of external adaptation and internal integration, that has worked well enough to be considered valid and, therefore, to be taught to new members as the correct way to perceive, think, and feel in relation to those problems (Schein 1992:12). In comparison to earlier times, organisational culture is more in demand and recognised at present (Schein, 1992) due to competition, increased globalisation, diversified workforce and formation of business coalitions. Schema Integration Essay In literature there exist several definitions of Schema: Schema integration is the process of merging autonomously developed DB schema into a unified, global schema to provide transparency through a unified view [73]. Schema integration is the process of identifying the components of a database which are related to one another, selecting the best representation for the global conceptual schema, and finally, integrating the components of each intermediate schema [74]. 12.2.Why is Schema Integration Required? • 15. The Debate On Gay Marriage A recent Supreme Court decision ruling that homosexual couples were, by law, allowed to marry sparked great debate when made public. Advocates for same love rejoiced, painting profile pictures in the colors of the rainbow and crying out that reform was attainable. On the flip side, opponents mourned the direction the nation was facing, firing back on social media with firm viewpoints but little else. For its highly controversial standing, the debate on gay marriage brings to light a question buried beneath the subject. How does the individual determine right from wrong? It would seem that a person s moralityis predetermined, but has the ability to change when external influences act upon it. When injustices arise, the person, based on his or her conscience, will step in and take action to right the wrong. A person s conscience points the way in his or her life, guiding where to go, what to do, and how to speak. This conscience is a pre instilled set of morals that directs how an individual feels on a certain subject and whether it is right or wrong. The Grapes of Wrath, written by John Steinbeck, makes good note of this natural inclination, saying that people knew of the right to talk and to listen (265). The migrant families knew automatically what was acceptable and what was inappropriate. By nature, the migrants instinctively knew where to step and how to interact. The female reproductive system is in charge of creating egg cells, the female reproductive sex cell containing 23 chromosomes. The female reproductive system is also in charge of making sure fertilization, implantation and that the embryo successfully develops and is born. The male reproductive system is in charge of making healthy sperm(male sex cell) and making sure that it successfully reaches the egg of the female. As most systems are, the male reproductive system is a combination of many components. It all starts at the seminiferous tubules within the testes, where the sperm is created, however, the testes create hormones that regulate the production of sperm. Surrounding the testes is the scrotum, a sac of skin that keeps the sperm at about 3 degrees Celsius below body temperature. After the sperm matures, it is stored in the epididymis until ejaculation occurs, during ejaculation, the epididymis contracts, releasing the sperm into the vas deferens, a long tube that connects the urethra and the epididymis. The sperm then passes by 3 glands, the seminal vesicle which provides sugars, the prostate gland which provides an alkaline fluid for protection and finally the Cowper s gland which provides a lubricant for the sperm to travel in. This mixture of substances, called semen is ejaculated out the urethra and finally the penis and hopefully into the female s reproductive system. However the penis must be erect for the sperm to successfully enter the female s vagina, this is where erectile tissue comes in, the tissue is inflated with blood, keeping the penis erect and ensuring that the sperm enters the vagina. The system of apartheid spiked significant internal resistance, hence, the ideology for apartheid stems from the creation of a white state surrounded by economically interdependent and politically dependent black states, which required state terror and repression to ensure mounting resistance and international condemnation did not abolish the apartheid system. The government responded to a series of popular uprisings and protests with police brutality, which increased support for armed resistance. Detentions were set without trial, torture, censorship and the outlawing of political oppositional organizations such as The African National Congress, the Black Conscious Movement, the Azanian Peoples Organisation, The Pan Africanist Congress and the United Democratic Front, were all a result of the apartheid government due to political resistance. Pitbull, on the other hand, is a Cuban hip hop artist, born in Miami, Florida, and is been more famously recognized within the music industry, in terms of fame and financial success. While these two artists come from opposite ends of the country, they do share similarities within their music and performance of hip hop culture, in that they both utilize problematic themes like misogyny, sexual objectification, and violence towards women in their lyrics and music videos, which are notorious subjects within hip hop music. They also pair this with rhetoric that glamorizes and fetishizes partying, drugs, and alcohol, as well, performing in flashy ensemble and jewelry as a display of wealth and class. YG and Pitbull also express pride within their music for their backgrounds and where they come from, as Pitbull often incorporates Spanish within his lyrics and even discusses Cuban politics in his song Give Me Everything. Athena is in favor of the Greeks because she saw a part of herself in Achilles, and frankly because she hated the Trojans. Fate bound the gods in Book 22 lines 190 209. As Achilles was face to face with Hector, Zeus showed pity for Hector. In this scene, Zeus knew that Hector was destined to die. Zeus wanted to save Hector, but was persuaded by Athena that it was Hector s time. Athena argued with him that if he would step in and save Hector that many other gods would be upset with his actions. Not only would the gods be angry, but death was Hector s fate, and the gods were bound to it. This is an example of how fate outweighed what the gods wanted to happen. Zeus was wrestling with the thought of saving Hector or allowing Hector to meet his fate. Achilles and Athena s relationship seemed to be superficial. Although Athena seemed to care for Achilles, her motive came from viewing parts of herself within him. The gods seemed to intervene when the scene looked as if it needed a bit of excitement. For example, in Book 22, Hector was being chased along the city wall by Achilles. Athena presented herself in the image of Hector s brother, DeГЇphobus, to persuade Hector to stop running and fight with Achilles. Moby Dick may, also with good reason, be called a man s book and that Melville s seafaring episode suggests a patriarchal, anti feminine approach that adheres to the nineteenth century separation of genders. Value for masculinity in the nineteenth century America may have come from certain expected roles males were expected to fit in; I argue that its value comes from examining it not alone, but in relation to and in concomitance with femininity. As Richard H. Brodhead put it, Moby Dickis so outrageously masculine that we scarcely allow ourselves to do justice to the full scope of masculinism (Brodhead 9). A chapter in which gender sentiments are comically muddled is the chapter known as The Tail , where Melville takes part in disassembling, at the same time celebrating, this obviously phallic symbol and uses careful and also obvious language to stress its feminine, as well as masculine, qualities. In the tail the confluent measureless force of the whole whale seems concentrated to a point (M D 294), Melville describes what superficially sound as only be phallic and masculine qualities. • 33. The Foundation Of Social Philosophy And The Philosophy Of... III Social Philosophy literally means philosophy of society. Society means general society, the network of social relations, and not any particular society because the philosophical view points towards universality. According to Daya Krishna, society is the sort of reality, the truth of existence of every being in relation with each other. Hence, the subject of social philosophy is the human society as a whole. As the relations that exist between the objects of nature are different from social relations, social philosophy does not concern itself with nature and creatures other than man. Mere coexistence, either among the people of one nation or among the nations themselves, is not enough for social relations. The scope of social philosophy can be understood by comprehending its main problem which is to discover the philosophical foundations of the society. Since the beginning of knowledge, philosophers have been trying to study the philosophical foundations of various aspects of human society. They have discovered how far the society is eternal and natural and how far it is changing and artificial. Whereas some thinkers believe that the individual is independent of society, others emphasize the social nature of the individual. According to Aristotle, man is born social animal. On the other hand, Jean Jacques Rousseau held that man s social nature is the product of a social contract. Indian philosophers too have studied the social nature of man as natural. Irish Stereotypes Stereotypes and the Monster They Make As seen through history, people of different racial, social, ethnic, and religious groups are made into monsters to be feared by the American media. The Irish were drawn as scary, violent drunkards who should not be trusted. The Japanese were classified as enemy aliens, and believed to be untrustworthy. Chinese were lazy, evil, womanizing workers stealing jobs. Xenophobia took a strong hold, causing mass panic of the white men at the sight of the orange and yellow men. Each of these stereotypes portrayed in the media through political cartoons created monsters in the white Americans eyes. Irish immigrants faced a stereotype of being drunk and violent. Political cartoons were a perfect medium for the media to infect American homes with xenophobia. Irish were drawn to look similar to monkeys, often wielding a bottle of rum with them. The three flexible mechanisms of the Kyoto Protocol allow Annex I countries to achieve part of their emission reduction commitments abroad. The CDM allows an Annex I Party to implement a project that reduces greenhouse gas emissions or, subject to constraints, removes greenhouse gases by carbon sequestration, or sinks, in the territory of a non Annex I Party. The resulting certified emission reductions, known as CERs, can then be used by the Annex I Party to help meet its emission reduction target. The host country will benefit from the increased investment flows and from the transfer of clean technologies instrumental to advance the sustainable development goals. All countries wishing to participate in the CDM have to designate a National CDM Authority with the task of evaluating and approving the projects. This authority is termed the Designated National Authority (DNA). The main tasks to be carried out by the DNA for the CDM are to provide written approval to the project participants that participation by the Host country is voluntary and to ... Although many sanctions under the US Patriot Act grossly violated the fourth amendment in several ways, congress felt it was necessary to protect the nation. Sections that violated the fourth amendment are: the sneak and peek warrants included in section 213, roving/warrantless wiretapping of section 206, and finally trap and trace searches of section 214. Introduction: Money and Currency have always been a widely discussed topic, it is believed that if you understand the economy you can have anything you could ever wish for, for this reason research into my topic has been interesting. There is an abundance of information on the topic, and many sources contain individual opinions which I believe are invaluable for research such as this because it provides a perspective I would have otherwise not seen. It is widely accepted that Currency consists only of an agreement within a community to use something as a medium exchange and that a community no longer refers to a few hundred in a town but a few billion all spread out across the globe. Although the means in which we pay for things change as time moves on, the very nature of Currency stays the same. When discussing currency the first thought that comes to mind is cold hard cash, the very form of money that fuels our everyday lives. However, the very nature of the dollar is something beyond the scope of a simple definition, to fully understand currency we must start at a simpler level; that simple level being a LET System. A local exchange trading system; abbreviated to LETS or LETSystem is a locally initiated, democratically organised, not for profit community enterprise that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay on Writing Techniques in Poe s The Raven Writing Techniques in Poe s The Raven Edgar Allan Poe uses several writing techniques to create a single concentrated effect of unending despair in his classic poem, The Raven. The most noticeable technique is the use of repetition. Just as repeated exposure to cold raindrops can chill one to the bone, repeated exposure to words of hopelessness and gloom creates a chilling effect. Poe saturates the reader with desperate futility by repetitive use of the words nothing more and nevermore. These two phrases, used in refrain to end seventeen of the poem s eighteen stanzas, drench the reader with melancholy. Poe also uses repetition to spark the reader s curiosity. Lenore is referred to as a sainted maiden (94), whereas the raven is referred to as a prophet! and a thing of evil! (85, 91). The radiance of Lenore is contrasted with the speaker s soul, which he describes as being under a shadow (107). These contrasts serve to draw attention to the most significant contrast described in the poem: an intelligent, well read, loving man interprets a bird seeking shelter on a cold night as an emblem of never ending anguish and succumbs to depression and madness. Poe masterfully chooses his words to create an effect. He introduces the idea that the tapping is caused by something at his window lattice (33) followed by Let me see, then, what thereat is (34). His choice of the word thereat is interesting in that it suggests the word threat . The sharp t sound at the end of thereat conjures the sound of pecking on glass. The experience of hearing what the speaker hears serves to increase the bond the reader feels with the speaker. Poe s masterful alliteration likewise creates mood as exhibited in the phrase, And the silken sad uncertain (13). These words are not commonly used together. The repetitive s sound forces the reader to hesitate when reading the line, leading the reader to identify with the uncertainty that the speaker is experiencing. In a similar way, the ... Exhibit 2 illustrates the rapid switch to the two piece can in the beverage industry. In the beer segment alone, almost half of the total cans used in 1974 were made by the new process. Growth Between 1967 and 1976 the number of metal cans shipped from the manufacturers grew at an average of 3.4% annually. As shown in Table A, the greatest gains were in the beverage segment, while shipments of motor oil, paints, and other general packaging cans actually declined. A 6% decline in total shipments in 1975 turned around as the economy picked up in all areas except basic food cans. For the future, soft drink and beer cans were expected to continue to be the growth leaders.
