Dionysian Influence In Gwen Stefani s Rich Girl
I chose to analyze Rich Girl performed by Gwen Stefani. She is one of my favorite singer. Her
rebellion temper and colorful style is capturing along with her outstanding voice. Stefani was born
(1969) in Fullerton, California and begun her musical carrier at age 17 (Billboard,.2017). I would
consider Stefani a performer with Dionysian influence. Her music has always been passionate and
reflecting her life experiences and views on current issues. Stefani s life could be described as a
rollocoster, ups and downs that provide plenty of inspiration for her music. The song Rich Girl from
the Love. Angel. Music. Baby. Music album, performed by Gwen Stefani was released in 2004. The
song was based on the If I Was a Rich Man from the musical,

House Of The Red Fish Analysis
Do you find it hard to when looking for the similarities and differences of an object. Well you can use
the Double Bubble Map method to compare two subjects, there are three sides. The similarities, and
the different things about the subjects. In this case, the subjects were Tomi and Keet, the main
characters of House of The Red Fish . One of the many differences between Tomi and Keet is that
Tomi is determined to get his father s fishing sampan to the surface, but Keet is adamant about
keeping it at the bottom of the canal where it lays. The Double Bubble Map is convenient because it
keeps your notes organized, you can also virtually compare any two things, and lastly it s a fun
different way to taking dull notes. Firstly, this strategy is convenient because of how organized it is.
Even though there are a jumble of circles and words, the adjacent lines connecting one circle to the
next keep the space tidy and easy to find. In addition, when comparing Tomi and Keet, there are many
differences, but just as many similarities between the two. Using the Double Bubble method, you can
easily decipher the things they have in common, and the things that contrast. For example, both
characters share the trait of being stubborn, because Tomi will not give up raising his father s sampan,
the Taiyo Maru, but Keet on the other hand will do anything to keep the sampan on the ocean floor. ...

you could compare Oiji Chan to Mr. Wilson. Oiji Chan is a Japanese immigrant and was taken to a
makeshift camp on Sand Island. Mr.Wilson is a BMTC Officer and is an American

Raisin In The Sun Disadvantages
In the 1950 s, discrimination toward African Americans, women, and people of a lower social status
controlled society. As a person living with all three qualities, opportunities did not come easily.
However, with hard work and determination, Lorraine Hansberry defies the odds and becomes a
successful writer of plays that encompass concerns ranging from civil rights to religion. In A Raisin in
the Sun and To Be Young, Gifted and Black, Lorraine Hansberry emphasizes the necessity of
improvement as an individual and as a nation. Civil rights and equality contribute to a life of
prosperity in which efforts of mankind remain unaffected by race, gender, or social class. Despite
living in the 1950 s as a Black woman with numerous social disadvantages, ... Show more content on

Lorraine Hansberry writes her characters as having their own beliefs. Mama strongly believes in a
God, but Hansberry illustrates Beneatha as an atheist. Holding a traditional view on the world, Mama
reacts abruptly when Beneatha expresses her opinion. After Beneatha uses the Lord s name in vain,
Mama yells, I just ain t going to have you round here reciting the scriptures in vain you hear me?
(Hansberry, A Raisin in the Sun 46). Mama understands she cannot convince Beneatha into having the
same beliefs, so she simply demands Beneatha to respect her beliefs. In many ways, Lorraine
Hansberry reflects Beneatha s views and beliefs. Like Beneatha, Lorraine Hansberry was an atheist;
however, her mother believed in a God. Also, Hansberry relates to Mama because she, also, desires
people to respect her opinions and beliefs. Gerald Weales expresses his ideas on A Raisin in the Sun
by stating that Miss Hansberry has come close as possible to what she intended a play about negroes
which is not simply a negro play (528). Not only does the play emphasize Black rights, but it also
highlights the importance of individualism. In her works, Hansberry demonstrates acceptance toward
other religions. She welcomes other views and radiates love through her words. In To Be Young,
Gifted and Black, Lorraine Hansberry concludes, I wish to live because life has within it that which is
good, that which is beautiful and that which is love (100). Although society demands conformity,
Hansberry believes that individuality creates a beautiful world. Individualism includes believing in

Summary Of John Winthrop s A Model Of Christian Clarity
John Winthrop was born around the 1500 s in England which at the time had corruption due to
overpopulation and not enough money. He decided that it needed to be more peace against prosecution
of religion and joined a group called the Puritans. He and his group decided that they should be the
ones to have a safe community as Puritans. He and his fellow people set out on a voyage where a book
was written called A Model of Christian Clarity. For example, A Model of Christian Clarity says that
All men being thus (by divine providence) ranked into two sorts, rich and poor; under the first are
comprehended all such as are able to live comfortably by their own means duly improved; and all
other are poor according to the former distribution (Winthrop 178). This means that the Puritans
should be able to live the way they choose whether it be religion or rich/poor. He also emphasized
helping people and not wanting anything in return. He also wanted to emphasize that the land should
not be based on status and that everyone should help each other to have a more Puritan life. Winthrop
believes that everyone should live a more Christian life and have compassion to the poor if you are
wealthy by selling all of your things soon in order for them to eat. In A Model of Christian Clarity ,
Winthrop concludes with Deuteronomy 30 which says Beloved, there is now set before us life and
food, death and evil, in that we are commanded this day to love the Lord our God, and to love one
another,

Gratification And How It Is Learned
In the textbook the authors talk about delay of gratification and how it is learned. The authors refer to
delay of gratification as controlling impulsive reactions for long term benefits (Cervone Pervin, 2013).
They relate delay of gratification to self control due to the fact that delaying gratification generally
means putting off something enjoyable in the present in order to get something even better in the
future (Cervone Pervin, 2013). For example, not going to your friend s house tonight so that you can
practice the speech you have tomorrow in your English class so you can get a better grade. The
textbook also posits that there are two components to delays of gratification. The first component is
the impulsive desire to get a reward, and the second component is the cognitive tactics that people use
to avoid acting on that impulse (Cervone Pervin, 2013). Research in the area of social cognitive theory
even shows that children can learn to withstand greater delays of gratification when they witness
models displaying such delay behavior (Cervone Pervin, 2013). The textbook also talks about self
efficacy, which was a component in this particular study. Self efficacy can be defined as an individual
s perceptions about their own capabilities for performing some act in the future (Cervone Pervin,
2013). It has been found that self efficacy perceptions impact various types of behavior that are
essential for human achievement (Cervone Pervin, 2013). Self efficacy

The Susie Scenario Essay
For most people, anxiety is something that occurs occasionally throughout their lives such as, right
before a big meeting, presentation, tests, or a simple medical procedure. Other people are facing
challenges daily due to anxiety; some are diagnosed while others are not. Anxiety includes,
distressingly unpleasant and maladaptive feelings, thoughts, behaviors, and physical reactions.
Students with anxiety often worry about their competence, even when they are not being evaluated
(Durwin, 467). These struggles affect the performance of adults in their everyday lives and more
specifically; a child s performance in academics. It is the role as an educator, to aid students with
anxiety and other disorders with coping with these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this circumstance, Susie feels over stimulated due to her need for perfection; inevitably causing her
to fall behind on assignments. Someone with severe anxiety splits their attention between their anxiety
and the task, instead of focusing solely on the assignment. This is made apparent through Susie s lack
of assignment completion. She is going through something known as the vicious cycle. Essentially,
Susie becomes fixated on a specific part of her assignment which distracts her from completing the
full project, leading to a poor grade and disappointment from Susie; causing more anxiety and another
incomplete assignment due to the lack of focus. Therefore, Susie cannot perform at the optimal level.
A simple task as mentioned earlier, notetaking; provides everyone with a tolerance for a higher arousal
level. Notetaking is something that can be performed with less thought, effort, and stress which allows
someone with anxiety to partake in the activity more easily. Provided that Susie s main problems are
anxiety, disorganization, and perfectionism; it is important to design a modification plan that will
reduce these symptoms and create an environment that is more conducive to her learning. To begin, an
educator can use the shaping method, inclusive of a cognitive behavioral treatment and token
economy, as a way to control Susie s disorder. Shaping involves reinforcing small steps that move
toward the behavior until the entire behavior is displayed (Durwin

Equally Consider This
In Peter Singer s All Animals are Equal, he presents an argument for equal consideration for members
of nonhuman species, otherwise known as animals. In this paper, I will argue that Singer s argument
does not prove that animals are deserving of equal consideration because it contains a premise that is
not obviously true. The premise I believe to be inadequately supported is the premise that there is no
property that all human sentient creatures have that not all sentient creatures have that would explain
why the interests of human sentient creatures ought to be given equal consideration even though it is
not true that the interests of all sentient creatures ought to be given equal consideration.
II.
In his argument, Singer states his thesis as the following: We should extend to other species the basic
principle of equality that most of us recognize should be extended to all members of our own species
(Singer 171). He goes on to explain that by the basic principle of equality he is referring to equality of
consideration (172). Understanding that equality of consideration for different beings may potentially
lead to different treatment and different rights amongst them, his argument remains uncompromised
based on the fact that equality of consideration from one group to another does not imply that we must
treat both groups in exactly the same way, or grant exactly the same rights to both groups (172). His
argument is not for all sentient creatures to be endowed with

The Testament Of The Bible
The Bible simply says in Isaiah 55:9, For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways
higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts. God does work His wonders in ways that
are beyond finding out! The congregation at Calvary has heard repeatedly about the classic book
called Pilgrims Progress. In this timeless book there is a man named Mr. Worldly Wise. It doesn t take
long for a Christian to realize that he shouldn t have listened to this man. Mr. Worldly Wise does not
have the mind of God. There would appear to be great wisdom coming from his mouth, but it s not
from God. Something that will have to be accepted by faith, no matter how good the intentions, if the
direction that a person is going is not governed by God s wisdom, that journey, that path, will end in
hopelessness. The Church, His blood bought Church, has the special revelation called the New
Testament. One would think, with all the technology, modern science and medicine, that the Church
would evolve to a place in society where the message of reaching the world would be different than it
was when the Church began. But lest we forget the declaration of Isaiah, His ways are not our ways.
The giant gulf that separates God and man is impassable. There is no way to get from here to there
apart from the wisdom of God. His wisdom is completely separate from worldly wisdom. As Paul
makes clear in 1 Corinthians 1:18 25, For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are

Pride And Prejudice Gender Expectations
The novel Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen depicts a social structure in which there are clear gender
expectations. These gender expectations control and restrict the lives of both genders, most notably
women. In. Austen s world, women have few opportunities to support themselves, and have high
expectations attributed to them. Men were held to similar standards. Upper and middle class men were
expected to add to their families wealth, be charming, and eventually marry. Deviation from these
spoken and unspoken rules, such as Lydia and Wickham s elopement, would result in becoming a
social pariah. In Pride and Prejudice , the characters of Elizabeth Bennet, her sister Lydia, and Mr.
Darcy challenge the aforementioned gender roles put in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, Elizabeth s active nature and her refusal to be passive, You give your opinion very
decidedly for a woman of your age (Austen 159), overshadow the traditional qualities she possesses.
Her personality makes her very disagreeable to Lady Catherine and Mr. Bingley s sisters. When Jane
falls ill, Elizabeth walks miles through the mud to visit Netherfield. Upon arriving, Elizabeth shocks
the Bingley sisters, I shall never forget her appearance this morning. She looked almost wild. (Austen
35). Lady Catherine also plays a role in contrasting Elizabeth with more traditional women of the
time. The confrontation between the two at Longbourn shows Elizabeth s willingness to stand up for
herself against people of higher social standing, `I have said no such thing. I am only resolved to act in
that manner, which will, in my own opinion, constitute my happiness, without reference to you, or to
any person so wholly unconnected with me. (Austen 332). Austen s use of a limited social structure
highlights the clear message about the expectations of women in Regency England and Elizabeth s
refusal to

WHO BENEFITS? New transport infrastructure creates value and there are many stakeholders who
benefit from well places and designed transport infrastructure. To seek a portion of this newly created
value, you firstly need to identify and beneficiaries. Existing residents as many studies have proven,
property prices increase once a major new transport infrastructure is announced. Residents do not need
to wait for the infrastructure to be built, as prices have been shown to increase as early as the initial
announcement. Residents all benefit from reduced congestion, faster and more reliable journey times,
improved quality of life. Research showed that Melbourne s City Link had created increased land
value of $30 billion. The Southern Railway in Perth showed that there was an uplift in value over 5
years by 42% above base value uplift for properties in station precincts. For every kilometres a
dwelling in Brisbane was located in proximity of a ferry terminal there was an increase of 4% in price.
In London research found that property within easy reach of a station was worth on average 20,000
pounds more than other properties. Another benefit New residents will benefit in purchasing a home in
a newly developed area, without having to pay premium city prices with the ability to commute in a
reasonable time to the CBD with the creation of a new railway line. Ongoing benefits will be achieved
with new areas providing a much needed economic activity leading to market

Lennie and George Relationship in Steinbeck s Novel Essay
In this chapter of the novel, Steinbeck uses a lot of visual elements, strong dialect,
symbolism, tone and theme. Much of these elements are shown right from the beginning of
the chapter when the two men, Lennie and George arrive at the bunk house. Right from the
first sentence, the tone and imagery is already set off by introducing the walls [being]
whitewashed and the floor unpainted.(p17) In addition, he also introduces the bunks, also
re enforcing the tone since the bunks are described as ...burlap sack of straw that was a
mattress.(p18) At this point, George is realizing that not only does he have challenges by
dealing with George, but he also has to live in this environment where things are not ... Show more

In addition to the theme of disposability, the theme
of social isolation is also quite apparent. For example, when the boss was getting suspicious of George
answering all of Lennies questions by commenting that Lennie [wasn t] much of a
talker, is he?(p21) and also by asking then why don t you let him answer? What are you trying
put over?(p21) If the boss found out then the truth about Lennie, he would have immediately
asked them to leave. Furthermore, the theme of social isolation is vividly displayed with Crooks,
just because of his skin color, gives the boss rights to give the stable buck hell (p19) whenever
he is upset at something.
The whole message Steinbeck is trying to convey through this chapter in the novel is
basically this ranch is like a mini society. Anyone in this society can hold power, and when they
get into that position of power over others, they use it in irresponsible ways. For example even
though the boss is the top of the social heirchy, his son Curley seems to have more power over
the workers there than he does. Also, because of his position in the social pyramid , Curley can
tangle with any one of the workers without any troubles, however if Lennie, for example,
tangles with Curley him

The Crooked Line Essay
Ismat Chughtai s The Crooked Line reads like a classic Bildungsroman in many ways. It is the story of
a child born in an environment which is fairly hostile who grows up and is able to move away from
this hostile environment on a journey of self discovery. This basic structure is, however, where the
similarity ends. A Bildungsroman is a novel of development of the central protagonist from birth to a
position of stability within the social sphere. This normative form functions as a basis for Ismat
Chughtai s novel The Crooked Line but instead of being the pattern followed, it is the path not taken.
The normative Bildungsroman is that against which this novel rebels and tells the story of a
protagonist who follows a trajectory which is individualistic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

As it avows to depict reality and change is a fundamental feature of reality, it is imperative that the
realist novel changes constantly as well. This implies that the structural foundation of a
Bildungsroman would also have to be modified in order to make it contemporary and also realist. The
nature of this change, especially in the European context is obvious in terms of the transformation of
the novel from depicting stability into a genre which hinges on the inherent instability of a society. In
his essay on this topic, Franco Moretti in his introduction to The Way of the World argues that the new
novel is the transformative novel. In this, he uses the model of the novel of adultery in which the
growth of a character is located in the sphere of adultery and thereby is essentially an unstable
stability. This instability forms the foundation of the novel form in one more significant aspect; one
which is critical for Chughtai s Shaman as well. Youth is important for the central protagonist because
it is the site of potential which is hitherto untapped. This potential encapsulates the heroic potential of
the protagonist and manifests itself in the larger system of causality in the text. The trajectory which
the central protagonist will choose to follow is begun in a young age. The decisions of the character
work as milestones against which one may measure the success or the degree of closure provided by
the ending. However, as Moretti further elaborates, this Bildungsroman encapsulates within it another
paradox; the individual s growth cannot be parallel to societal growth as the social sphere exists in
order to suppress the individual. This implies that any authentic Bildungsroman hinges on the
discovery of a stable and viable alternative. That the protagonist will in some way find a balance
between the self and the world and therefore s/he will be able to develop personally as well as socially.

Women s Experience Of Postnatal Care
Statistics and data have shown that women are less satisfied with the care they receive post natal
compared to the care they receive during antenatal and throughout labour including those women who
receive caseload midwifery care (Forster et al., 2016). Thus, this assignment will focus on some
aspects of care that influence a women s experience of postnatal care and changes that can be
implemented to improve women s satisfaction with the early post natal care they receive. In addition,
there will be a discussion about the role of the midwife in providing postnatal care that will be more
satisfying for women. The first part of this essay will discuss how women feel on the postnatal ward,
focusing on interactions with their care providers and routine care. Following will be a discussion
about the physical environment of the postnatal ward and lastly, will be a discussion about the current
length of stay in the hospital and how it may be affecting the women.
Women are much less satisfied with the care the care they received during their post partum period
compared with the antenatal, labour and birth care they receive (Forster et al., 2016). A peer reviewed

helping people cope. Life management or family/career management curricula emphasize coping

stress, and household management (e.g., California Community Colleges 1998; Mathieson 1999). As
Caproni (1997) notes, research, policy, and practice focused on work/life balance have raised
important issues and brought about changes that have benefitted some families. However, these
approaches are incomplete in several ways.
As Niles et al. (2001) point out, the usefulness of these types of responses benefits different segments
of society differently. For the working poor, balancing work, nonwork, and life roles may be a luxury;
they are likely to be far more circumspect in how they can commit their resources to family needs (p.
13). Caproni (1997) suggests that the discourse of work/life balance reflects bureaucratic values such
as individualism, instrumentalism, goal focus, and

Persuasive Essay On Gun Violence
There has been a rise in gun violence in the United States for the past few years killing several victims
that gotten caught in cross fire, mass shootings, and in crime. In 2012, there were over a dozen mass
shooting incidents with two standing out as especially tragic. One of the shootings ended with 12
people dead and 58 others harmed and only tis amount because the shooter gun was jammed. The
second mass shooting involved a man not only killing his mom but also elementary school children
and some of the people working there, then later himself. With an increase of innocent people deaths
due to guns there has not been a change or an increase in gun laws to lowers the death rates. In the
State of Texas, it s citizens at the age 18 can walk in a store and buy a rifle without a license or any
background checks. They must be at least 21 years of age to purchase a gun that cannot be seen such
as a handgun. The other requirements are to be a resident of that state, have an identification card, a
completion of a handgun proficiency test by a qualified instructor. A person is not allowed to have a
weapon with a felony but can have a ticket and/or misdemeanor. After a purchase of a gun, that person
must keep it concealed and has a concealed license to carry it around on them but the clip must be out
of the gun when driving in a car. Before going in any stores there will be a sign that say no guns
allowed meaning the carrier have read before trying to enter any business

International Criminal Court Unfair Towards African...
Is the International Criminal Court unfair towards African Nations vis à vis Western Nations?
On October 12, 2016, the parliament of Burundi, a country located in the Eastern part of Africa voted
to withdraw from the International Criminal Court (ICC) with a vote of 94 to 2. Weeks earlier, Gambia
and South Africa announced their intention to withdraw from the ICC, and this wave of action by
these three African nations has paved the way for other African nations to reassess if they wanted to
still be part of the ICC. Since its establishment in 1998, the ICC has tried criminals of war mainly
from African members states. This treatment has raised a lot of concerns within African nations, and
they are expressing themselves about the unfair treatments and bias towards them from the
International Criminal Court by threatening to leave this longtime praised establishment..
Created on July 17, 1998 in Rome, Italy, after more than 120 nations voted in favor of the Rome
Statute, the International Criminal Court is an independent court that tries individuals or groups for
war crimes, genocide, and crimes against humanity, and could open investigations when referred to by
the United Nations Security Council. In order to veto or approve of its policies or resolutions, nations
need to be members, and as of 2016 there are 124 members in the ICC. Not to be confused with the
International Court of Justice (ICJ), the ICC only deals with war related issues, whereas the ICJ s role

So Much Debt According To Juliet Schor
Debt does not come across most people s minds when it comes down to making them happy.
According to Juliet Schor people will put themselves in thousands of dollars in debt till they make
themselves happy and get everything they want to fit in with society. families in New York are making
$600,000 a year and claim they are not making enough to live in that environment, society are putting
themselves in so much debt they are worried about bouncing their checks. Humans will do whatever

Hostile Takeovers in a DDM Situation
Sourav has illustrated in the initial portion of his discussion how it is that the HPR and DDM values of
his selected firms will differ, mainly as a result of the different assumptions underlying each formula.
Between the HPR model s generalized distribution assumption, and the DDM s time consuming need
to forecast each incremental dividend to be paid, investors are faced with a dilemma when
determining which model to use when valuing a firm. Valkama et al (2013) then add further
complication to the matter when they raise the issue of how special dividends and stock splits can then
further impact the raw inputs of these formulae, as they will therefore require special adjustments to
properly accommodate the relevance of these situations. With this information in mind, I intend on
further developing the relevance of the DDM from the perspective of an investor that is looking to
benefit from an acquisition.
Each January, Morningstar (2013) publishes a list of takeover targets for the coming year. In their
2013 list, they included 11 firms. In using this list to demonstrate the potential upside of an acquisition
to target firm shareholders, I expect to find that these firms demonstrate a lower DDM valuation than
their actual HPR value, mainly because of the way in which their common shares have
underperformed in relation to the value of their dividends, and therefore creating an opportunity for a
firm to purchase the company at a discount, and realize the gains on a forward

Meaning Of Culture In The United States
People have their own meaning of what culture is. According to Rohall (2014), culture is defined as,
each society has its own unique patterns of behavior and beliefs (p.21). Culture includes anything
from communication, cuisine, clothing, music, religion, customs, and etc. It is interesting to see how
society sees cultures from their eyes. Everyone follows a culture and it is fascinating how each
country has his or her own culture. Countries have some similar traditions but it is cool how each
country has their own traditions, which I think makes country unique and different from another
country. I come from Vietnam so I mostly follow the culture adopted from there. An example of
Vietnamese culture is the way a person communicates ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Cataract Surgery Essay
Deciding When The Time Is Right For Cataract Surgery
When your eye doctor discovers you have cataracts, he or she may not recommend surgery right away.
If your early cataracts do not interfere with your vision, your doctor may watch how they progress
over the years and decide when the time is right to remove them. Here are some signs that indicate
when it s time to start considering cataract surgery.
Seeing Halos Around Lights
When your cataracts get to a certain stage, you ll begin to have problems with glare from sunlight and
you ll probably see halos around street lights. That means it will be unsafe for you to drive at sunset
and after dark. Your regular vision may not be affected too much yet, so you may want to postpone
your surgery. In that case, you ll have to give up driving at night, and that could affect the quality of

Description Of The Coypu ( Myocastor Coypus )
INTRODUCTION: The Coypu (Myocastor coypus) is a large, robust, semi aquatic rat like rodent and
a casual observer may misidentify a Coypu as a beaver or a muskrat, especially when it is swimming.
However, this superficial resemblance ends when a more detailed study of the animal is made
(LeBlanc. 2005). The average size of the head and body is 52cm with the length of the tail being an
additional 37cm. The body is highly arched with a large almost triangular head. The Incisors are large
with an orange pigmented surface. The Coypu s pelage contains two types of fur; soft dense under fur
and long coarse guard hairs, varying in colour from yellowish brown to reddish brown. The under fur
is dark grey and is thicker on the abdomen (Gosling. 1981). The legs are short, with the hind feet
being significantly longer than the forefeet, and possess five digits; the first four are connected by
webbing and the fifth is free. The forefeet have four long, flexible digits with no webbing and a
vestigial thumb. Because of their dexterous forepaws, coypu can excavate soil to construct sometimes
complex burrow systems within riparian areas and handle very small food items (Woods et al. 1992; D
Elia, 1999). The tail is long and rounded with a scaly texture and scantily haired (D Elia. 1999). In
addition to having webbed hind feet, coypu have several other adaptations conducive to their semi
aquatic lifestyle. The eyes, ears, and nostrils of coypu are set high on their heads. Furthermore,

Analyzing Proserpina s Decisions
Proserpina, the daughter of Ceres, was panicky. Despite the fact that she was clearly told by her
mother to not go far into the forest, she went against her mother s wishes and went exploring anyway.
Proserpina was trembling with fear, her hands trembling like an anxious boy trying to go to sleep on
Christmas Eve. She was running and tumbling over branches and tree roots until all of a sudden, she
finds herself locking her eyes onto a beautiful and enticing little plant. She decided to uproot it from
the ground and take it back to her mother. Proserpina was unaware that in uprooting the plant from the
ground, she would be causing an opening that would lead to Pluto, the God of the underworld, and his
castle. Pluto tried enticing her to him, but once he sensed her rejection and lack of cooperation he ...

one bit of anything while she was in his custody. Before too long, Proserpina saw the castle for the

Methodology
I initially wished to conduct the study on the basis of informal interactions of interviews. Prior
experience had taught me that it is rare that participants of the study are extremely comfortable
answering a lengthy questionnaire. Therefore I wanted to do away with the questionnaire. But senior
employees of Akshara made me realise that it might not be such a bad idea to get a basic
understanding of the issue through a questionnaire. Therefore I kept the questionnaire as the last thing
as part of the methodology. I had undertaken informal interactions then had gone into full fledged
interviews and then administered a questionnaire.
It was however, the informal interactions that taught me the most. I was glad that I could meet both
sections. There are several girls that I interacted with but many of them have not filled out the
questionnaire. Of the 30 40 girls that I did meet only 22 of them have filled out a questionnaire. Of
these 6 of them are from female headed households. Almost 95% of the gilrs in teracted

Gaius Octavius was born September 23, 63 BCE. His father s name was Gaius. His father, who died in
59 BCE, had been the first of the family to become a Roman senator and was elected to the high

office was judicial and second only to consul in status in the Roman government. Gaius Octavius was
of a successful family that had long been settled at Velitrae, southeast of Rome. 1 Octavius began his
public life at age 12 when he delivered the funeral oration for his grandmother, Julia. His great uncle,
Julius Caesar, became the chief priest, Pontifex Maximus. Gaius Octavius was from a prosperous
family in Velitrae, a city southeast of Rome. He was described as unusually handsome and
exceedingly graceful at all periods of his life, though he cared nothing for personal adornment. It was
claimed that his expression, whether in conversation or when he was silent, was calm and mild; that he
had clear, bright eyes, in which he believed there was a kind of divine power. His teeth were wide

Characteristics Of The Malaria
Malaria is starting to become one of the worlds most common infectious diseases and problem to
peoples health around the world. This report will highlight the importance of learning the signs and
symptoms of the Malaria disease, how to prevent becoming infected with it and how to treat it if
someone does come in contact with it. It will also describe the characteristics of the four major types
of Plasmodium that affects humans along with the the complete classification, pathogenesis, how it is
transmitted from one host to another, and who and what country is affected most from this infectious
disease. Within the Malarian disease, there are many species of the Plasmodium parasites, and only 4
of those species affects the human population. Those species include the Plasmodium falciparum,
Plasmodium vivax, Plasmodium ovale, and Plasmodium malariae (Wiser, 2011). There is various
differences between these four, but they do all have one thing in common and that is that they all form
rings. The Plasmodium falciparum has numerous rings that are smaller, it has no trophozoites or
schizonts, it is also a crescent shaped gametocyte. The Plasmodium vivax has a enlarged erythrocyte,
Schuffner s dots, and ameboid trophozoites. The Plasmodium ovale is similar to the Plasmodium
ovale, it has compact trophozoites, fewer merozoites in schizont, and elongated erythrocytes. The
Plasmodium Malariae is a compact parasite and it has merozoites in rosette (Wiser, 2011). To further
identify this infectious disease, it can be broken down into its taxonomic classification. It starts with
the Kingdom being Protista, Subkingdom being Protozoa, the Phylum being apicomplexa, the Class is
sporozoasida, Order is eucoccidiorida, Family is plasmodiidae, Genus being plasmodium and the
species being falciparum, malariae, ovale, and vivax. (Keas, 1999). The mechanism of Malaria is from
a Plasmodium parasite, that originate in female Anopheles mosquitoes, that can spread into humans
from the bites of the infected mosquitoes (Mohandas An, 2012). Among the Plasmodia species... only
4 of the over 100 species of plasmodia are infectious to humans. The majority of cases and almost all

The State of Nature and its Implications for Civilization...
The State of Nature and its Implications for Civilization in Hobbes and Rousseau
In his Leviathan Thomas Hobbes expresses a philosophy of civilization which is both practical and
just and stems from a clear moral imperative. He begins with the assertion that in the state of nature
man is condemned to live a life solitary, poore, nasty, brutish, and short. It is in the interest of every
man to rise above this state of nature and to give up certain rights so that the violent nature of the
human animal can be subdued. Jean Jacques Rousseau s vision of the state of nature parallels that of
Hobbes but for its more optimistic tone: I assume that men reach a point where the obstacles to their
preservation in a state of nature prove ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hobbes argues for the rule of a monarch for his peace centered civil society. He believes that a
monarch who understands the basis for the covenant, who adheres to it and truly recognizes the
importance of justice for all of humanity, is the most efficient and trustworthy method of transcending
the state of nature. For Hobbes the most important aspect of justice is keeping the peace through
adherence to the natural law. Peace reigns supreme in his vision of civilization and a strong ruler who
can pass laws to ensure that his subjects respect the covenant is needed. Although such a government
might be granted a dangerous amount of power, nonetheless an overarching sovereign with knowledge
of the natural laws is needed to keep in line those who would abuse the liberties granted them through
the covenant, thus threatening the society with a return to the state of nature.
Rousseau, in contrast, sees a true transcendence of the state of nature as including more than simply
peace. His goal is more ambitious than Hobbes s. Because in Rousseau s philosophy humans in a state
of nature are not suffering as directly as Hobbes suggests, their goal is more than just the peace
described in Leviathan: How to find a form of association which

Charles Schaeffer And Friedrich Nietzsche Essay
Introduction Born nearly 70 years apart from each other, Francis Schaeffer and Friedrich Nietzsche
were two very important figures in creating the modern philosophy. Two different men that studied
two different parts of philosophy. Because of their differences, most are unable to recognize their
many similarities. Each of the men had the things they studied, but the basis of their theories were
almost identical.
Nietzsche
One of the commendable influential philosophers in the history of ideas and a gifted stylist in his
native German, Friedrich Nietzsche undertook a radical re evaluation of established ideas and
critiqued moral values during his career. One of Nietzsche s primary studies was on the problem of
morality. However, he seems to contradict himself on the matter of values. Tansesi claims it is because
of the different definitions of value values in a descriptive sense as that which is thought to be of value
by an individual or by the members of a group, and values in a normative sense as that which is
objectively of value (652). Because of Nietzsche s committed denial of any moral values, it would
seem impossible to attribute him to him a commitment to the existence of any values in the normative
sense (652). In Thus Spake Zarathustra, he claims that to value is to create, and that it is only through
valuing that there is value. In the same section it is also claimed that men did not discover values, nor
were they given by a god; rather, human beings

How Does Realism And Idealism Affect Our International...
Amidst Political Idealism, Realism
The theories of realism and idealism are as old as politics, itself. There has always been one group
looking as things as they are, asking finite questions like how much will it cost, examining actions
over intentions and another group aiming for how things should be while asking is this morally right,
just or conscionable?. How does realism and idealism affect our international political landscape?
Although theory suggests that politicians operate from one camp or another, is it impossible to
navigate life supporting every initiative of one camp or another? One may in fact possess an idealistic
viewpoint or attitude overall but, cast a vote for a more realistic solution of a particular situation.
Evidence suggests that descriptors of realism and idealism are blurred lines, although it is in direct
conflict with the teachings of political science, which have not changed much since inception. ...one
cannot understand Hitler s Germany and Stalin s Soviet Union, the two most destructive states of the
twentieth century... Both regimes were driven by the desire to remake first their societies and then the
world. Neither took the state as the unit whose interests were to be served; no narrow self interest or
considerations of national security or even national gain could have led to such domestic slaughter and
dangerous expansions. Jervis, R. (1998). There are many examples of overlapping realism and

Government in Upper and Lower Canada
The need for government reform in Upper and Lower Canada was created because of the incompetent
way the government managed the country, a lack of representation in the government, a lack of
understanding of the colonist s in Upper and Lower Canada, and discrimination towards the French in
Lower Canada. Numerous colonists arrived to Upper and Lower Canada to begin a new life with a
proper government however, the government in Canada did not satisfy their needs. Firstly, the
unskilled way the government ran Upper and Lower Canada upset the colonists. This included a lack
of land for the colonists, even though they were promised land when they arrived in British North
America. Settlers were unhappy about land distribution particularly about the clergy and crown
reserves and the land speculators that were part of the Family Compact. Also, absentee landlords
overpriced and tied up prime land. The settlers were also unhappy that the building of roadways was
hindered by the clergy and crown reserves. The colonists were unhappy with the government and the
colonists complained loudly about land and roads. Most knew that the Family Compact was to blame
and they did not disguise their anger (Pg. 66). This meant that the colonists were aware that the
Family Compact was responsible for this problem because they completely ignored the colonist s
complaints and they did not do anything to help them. They could veto any laws passed by the

Battle of Guadalcanal
Some of the bloodiest fight of World War II came in the Pacific. Much of that fighting came at the
Battle of Guadalcanal. A remote island in the Solomons Island chain, Guadalcanal was not thought of
as important, prior to 1942. For several reasons, Guadalcanal was the most significant battle of the war
in the Pacific. The Battle of Guadalcanal was the first offensive the United States took in World War
II. Because of its location, Guadalcanal pushed back the Japanese defensive ring, and put the U.S. in
an aggressive mindset. As an intangible factor, the victory at Guadalcanal provided a much needed
morale boost to U.S. servicemen, who had not had a decisive triumph against the Japanese. Most
importantly, the U.S. gained control of an important airstrip on Guadalcanal that the Japanese had
been trying to utilize.
Guadalcanal was the first American offensive of World War II. American efforts in the Pacific were
heavily impeded by the Europe First strategy during World War II (Gray 317). President Roosevelt
and Prime Minister Winston Churchill both saw Europe as being more important than Asia. Nazi
Germany was viewed as the major threat to Western ideals. Neither the U.S. nor Europe feared a
Japanese invasion. The American Army would send the majority of its forces into Europe. The U.S.
Navy had some of its ships act as convoys to protect merchant ships, but most of the aircraft carriers
were in the Pacific. The United States Marine Corps (USMC) was entirely

Mexican And American Cultural Influences
I come from a place that is heavily influenced by Mexican and American culture mostly due to living
in a border town with Mexico. My mother is more in touch with her Mexican culture, while my dad is
more influenced by a Tejano/American culture. They both have been great influencers in the person I
am today. Growing up in my house all I spoke was Spanish mostly due to my grandmother only
knowing that language, I eventually learned English as I entered school. I remember spending my
weekends watching shows and movies like El Chavo del Ocho , La Nina de la Mochila Azul , and
Rebelde or listening to the songs my mom put by Mana, Juan Gabriel, and Vicente Fernandez. I took a
liking to school from a young age, I found learning fun and friends

Figurative Language In The Yearling
Winning the Pulitzer Prize is like winning the Heisman Trophy. In that regard, Marjorie Kinnan
Rawlings is comparable to Nile Kinnick. Kinnick won the Heisman in 1939 for his hard work,
dedication, and ability to play football. Rawlings won the Pulitzer Prize in 1939 for her novel, The
Yearling, for her deliberate use of sensory details, figurative language, and artful syntax. The
appliance of sensory details throughout the novel enhance the story by depicting a vivid image of the
characters and their situations. On page 224, Rawlings describes the events of the morning of the
storm. The fawn came to Jody s bed and poked its muzzle against his face. The contrast of the wet,
cold nose and Jody s warm face simulate the change of the setting from calm and warm to story and
cold. Earlier in the story, Jody is once again sleeping, but this time on the river on page 6. There were
no black boles of live oaks, no glossy green of magnolia leaves, no pattern of gold lace where the sun
had sifted through the branches of the wild cherry. The sensory details of the fading reality epitomize
the dreamland that Jody is drifting off to. In addition to the sensory details, the asyndeton contributes
to the relatable feeling of thoughts turning to dreams as sleep takes over the mind. The most effective
use of sensory details occurs on page 224 as Jody wakes up the morning of the storm. The morning,
however, was clear, but the east was the color of blood. The distinct image of the sun

Culture creation:
1. Director s opinion and preferences:
A director s opinions are usually tied to the personality, background and values of the board of
directors. These opinions are useful in creating a road map for change.
2. Client requirements: e Banking requirements for clients should be analysed carefully to ensure they
provide clients with fast and reliable service. Client requirements will include:
Security: Security for online transactions and a refund policy in the case of fraud/money loss.
Easy access: Clients should be able to easily access the new virtual system with their devices.
Good interest rates: The bank should provide clients with maximum interest rates for their savings
plans, compared to the previous system.
Help desk: 24X7 access to helpline with phone or online enquiries and emergency backup services.
Culture creation Culture maintenance
3. Previous bank assets: Assets such as experienced employees with good social relationships and
networks with customers will play an important role in attracting new customers to the bank. These
assets will also be useful in designing a new automated system with consideration to guidelines of the
previous system. Previous conditions and rules should be used to develop a web portal for new online
department management.

Assessing The Effect Of A New Teaching Approach
Part B. Descriptive statistics: assessing the effects of a new teaching approach
1. The main goal of the analysis being conducted is to assess whether the new curriculum on basic
electricity in basic science yields better achievement outcomes compared to the existing curriculum,
which is a more traditional teaching approach, for elementary school students in both urban and
suburban schools. In doing this analysis some questions that will be key to this study is to reveal if this
new curriculum is beneficial when compared to the traditional teaching approach. Indeed, some
students are randomly assigned to both the new curriculum and to the traditional teaching approach.
As a result, through this randomization biases will be kept from occurring. This investigation is
important because it will be determined what yielded better results through focusing on examining
differences in the posttest variable for children who did or did not experience the new curriculum.
2. After downloading the data file (Assignment 1.dta) and reading it on Stata, I was allowed to see that
there were some values that were missing: five to be exact. In other words, examining the ids I was
able to see that the number did not correlate with the id. The ids went to 178 and there were only 173
entries. Indeed, the ids that were missing were 57,104,123,146, and 157. This was in contrast to
running the codebook command for each variable id, treatment, urban, female, lowach, posttest which
produced a table

Title Ix And Its Impact On American Sports
Title IX consists of just thirty seven words, and it is these words that have transformed the dynamics
within the female athletic sphere in the United States. Although the federal law was initially
envisioned to assist women in academia, it is currently renowned for its profound impact on American
sports (Ware). It is an irrefutable fact that Title IX has vastly increased women s participation in
sports: the law has reportedly increased female participation rates within colleges six fold from 1972
the year it was passed to today (Cooky). Opportunities for women in sports have never been greater.
However, despite the progress made by Title IX, it faces deep challenges in its quest to achieve true
equality. Women s participation rates in sports still lag far behind men, and one cannot ignore this
disturbing reality ( National Coalition ). Thus, the question as to whether or not Title IX has achieved
gender equity is highly debatable. This paper intends to understand the shortcomings of Title IX s goal
in attaining true equality through analysis of its limitations. Specifically, this essay will explore
women s history in sports prior to Title IX, the importance of sports for females, an overview of Title
IX s statute, and an analysis of the law s various issues. To narrow the scope of my essay, I will focus
mainly on intercollegiate sports. Historical Attitudes Pre Title IX Prior to the passing of Title IX in
1972, women were generally not appreciated in the world of

Is Disagreement With A Cognitive Peer From Another Faith...
Does a disagreement with a cognitive peer from another faith or philosophical perspective reduce the
confidence one has in the justification of one s belief?
This is a difficult question for one to answer for various reasons and one of those reasons being that
when someone believes that their knowledge in a particular subject is greater than others it s very
difficult to change that person mind or the way that they see a particular subject. Although If I came
up on this issue and someone asked me if a cognitive peers views would make me second guess my
beliefs I must say no, it wouldn t lessen my belief or confidence on my point of view if that person
was just as knowledgeable as I am. Everyone in this world no matter how old or how young, no matter
how educated or how uneducated someone is everyone in this world has had a disagreement with
someone. We as humans have disagreements on a daily basis. Whether that disagreement is over
something important or just a subject that doesn t matter to anyone else other than the two discussing.
When an argument occurs that means that there is two different points of views and that is what makes
an argument interesting because you can have more knowledge on the way that someone else thinks
about the topic that you are talking about.
When it comes down to religion I must say that in no way would my point of view change if someone
had a different opinion then I do. Why? Because one whose view would change after speaking to a

  • 2. Dionysian Influence In Gwen Stefani s Rich Girl I chose to analyze Rich Girl performed by Gwen Stefani. She is one of my favorite singer. Her rebellion temper and colorful style is capturing along with her outstanding voice. Stefani was born (1969) in Fullerton, California and begun her musical carrier at age 17 (Billboard,.2017). I would consider Stefani a performer with Dionysian influence. Her music has always been passionate and reflecting her life experiences and views on current issues. Stefani s life could be described as a rollocoster, ups and downs that provide plenty of inspiration for her music. The song Rich Girl from the Love. Angel. Music. Baby. • 4. House Of The Red Fish Analysis Do you find it hard to when looking for the similarities and differences of an object. Well you can use the Double Bubble Map method to compare two subjects, there are three sides. The similarities, and the different things about the subjects. In this case, the subjects were Tomi and Keet, the main characters of House of The Red Fish . One of the many differences between Tomi and Keet is that Tomi is determined to get his father s fishing sampan to the surface, but Keet is adamant about keeping it at the bottom of the canal where it lays. The Double Bubble Map is convenient because it keeps your notes organized, you can also virtually compare any two things, and lastly it s a fun different way to taking dull notes. Firstly, this strategy is convenient because of how organized it is. Even though there are a jumble of circles and words, the adjacent lines connecting one circle to the next keep the space tidy and easy to find. In addition, when comparing Tomi and Keet, there are many differences, but just as many similarities between the two. Using the Double Bubble method, you can easily decipher the things they have in common, and the things that contrast. For example, both characters share the trait of being stubborn, because Tomi will not give up raising his father s sampan, the Taiyo Maru, but Keet on the other hand will do anything to keep the sampan on the ocean floor. ... • 5. Raisin In The Sun Disadvantages In the 1950 s, discrimination toward African Americans, women, and people of a lower social status controlled society. As a person living with all three qualities, opportunities did not come easily. However, with hard work and determination, Lorraine Hansberry defies the odds and becomes a successful writer of plays that encompass concerns ranging from civil rights to religion. In A Raisin in the Sun and To Be Young, Gifted and Black, Lorraine Hansberry emphasizes the necessity of improvement as an individual and as a nation. Civil rights and equality contribute to a life of prosperity in which efforts of mankind remain unaffected by race, gender, or social class. Despite living in the 1950 s as a Black woman with numerous social disadvantages, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Lorraine Hansberry writes her characters as having their own beliefs. Mama strongly believes in a God, but Hansberry illustrates Beneatha as an atheist. Holding a traditional view on the world, Mama reacts abruptly when Beneatha expresses her opinion. After Beneatha uses the Lord s name in vain, Mama yells, I just ain t going to have you round here reciting the scriptures in vain you hear me? (Hansberry, A Raisin in the Sun 46). Mama understands she cannot convince Beneatha into having the same beliefs, so she simply demands Beneatha to respect her beliefs. In many ways, Lorraine Hansberry reflects Beneatha s views and beliefs. Like Beneatha, Lorraine Hansberry was an atheist; however, her mother believed in a God. Also, Hansberry relates to Mama because she, also, desires people to respect her opinions and beliefs. Gerald Weales expresses his ideas on A Raisin in the Sun by stating that Miss Hansberry has come close as possible to what she intended a play about negroes which is not simply a negro play (528). Not only does the play emphasize Black rights, but it also highlights the importance of individualism. In her works, Hansberry demonstrates acceptance toward other religions. She welcomes other views and radiates love through her words. In To Be Young, Gifted and Black, Lorraine Hansberry concludes, I wish to live because life has within it that which is good, that which is beautiful and that which is love (100). Although society demands conformity, Hansberry believes that individuality creates a beautiful world. Individualism includes believing in anything or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Summary Of John Winthrop s A Model Of Christian Clarity John Winthrop was born around the 1500 s in England which at the time had corruption due to overpopulation and not enough money. He decided that it needed to be more peace against prosecution of religion and joined a group called the Puritans. He and his group decided that they should be the ones to have a safe community as Puritans. He and his fellow people set out on a voyage where a book was written called A Model of Christian Clarity. For example, A Model of Christian Clarity says that All men being thus (by divine providence) ranked into two sorts, rich and poor; under the first are comprehended all such as are able to live comfortably by their own means duly improved; and all other are poor according to the former distribution (Winthrop 178). This means that the Puritans should be able to live the way they choose whether it be religion or rich/poor. He also emphasized helping people and not wanting anything in return. He also wanted to emphasize that the land should not be based on status and that everyone should help each other to have a more Puritan life. Winthrop believes that everyone should live a more Christian life and have compassion to the poor if you are wealthy by selling all of your things soon in order for them to eat. In A Model of Christian Clarity , Winthrop concludes with Deuteronomy 30 which says Beloved, there is now set before us life and food, death and evil, in that we are commanded this day to love the Lord our God, and to love one another, ... • 7. Gratification And How It Is Learned In the textbook the authors talk about delay of gratification and how it is learned. The authors refer to delay of gratification as controlling impulsive reactions for long term benefits (Cervone Pervin, 2013). They relate delay of gratification to self control due to the fact that delaying gratification generally means putting off something enjoyable in the present in order to get something even better in the future (Cervone Pervin, 2013). For example, not going to your friend s house tonight so that you can practice the speech you have tomorrow in your English class so you can get a better grade. The textbook also posits that there are two components to delays of gratification. The first component is the impulsive desire to get a reward, and the second component is the cognitive tactics that people use to avoid acting on that impulse (Cervone Pervin, 2013). Research in the area of social cognitive theory even shows that children can learn to withstand greater delays of gratification when they witness models displaying such delay behavior (Cervone Pervin, 2013). The textbook also talks about self efficacy, which was a component in this particular study. Self efficacy can be defined as an individual s perceptions about their own capabilities for performing some act in the future (Cervone Pervin, 2013). It has been found that self efficacy perceptions impact various types of behavior that are essential for human achievement (Cervone Pervin, 2013). Self efficacy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Susie Scenario Essay For most people, anxiety is something that occurs occasionally throughout their lives such as, right before a big meeting, presentation, tests, or a simple medical procedure. Other people are facing challenges daily due to anxiety; some are diagnosed while others are not. Anxiety includes, distressingly unpleasant and maladaptive feelings, thoughts, behaviors, and physical reactions. Students with anxiety often worry about their competence, even when they are not being evaluated (Durwin, 467). These struggles affect the performance of adults in their everyday lives and more specifically; a child s performance in academics. In this circumstance, Susie feels over stimulated due to her need for perfection; inevitably causing her to fall behind on assignments. Someone with severe anxiety splits their attention between their anxiety and the task, instead of focusing solely on the assignment. This is made apparent through Susie s lack of assignment completion. She is going through something known as the vicious cycle. Essentially, Susie becomes fixated on a specific part of her assignment which distracts her from completing the full project, leading to a poor grade and disappointment from Susie; causing more anxiety and another incomplete assignment due to the lack of focus. Therefore, Susie cannot perform at the optimal level. A simple task as mentioned earlier, notetaking; provides everyone with a tolerance for a higher arousal level. Notetaking is something that can be performed with less thought, effort, and stress which allows someone with anxiety to partake in the activity more easily. Provided that Susie s main problems are anxiety, disorganization, and perfectionism; it is important to design a modification plan that will reduce these symptoms and create an environment that is more conducive to her learning. To begin, an educator can use the shaping method, inclusive of a cognitive behavioral treatment and token economy, as a way to control Susie s disorder. Shaping involves reinforcing small steps that move toward the behavior until the entire behavior is displayed (Durwin ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Equally Consider This In Peter Singer s All Animals are Equal, he presents an argument for equal consideration for members of nonhuman species, otherwise known as animals. In this paper, I will argue that Singer s argument does not prove that animals are deserving of equal consideration because it contains a premise that is not obviously true. The premise I believe to be inadequately supported is the premise that there is no property that all human sentient creatures have that not all sentient creatures have that would explain why the interests of human sentient creatures ought to be given equal consideration even though it is not true that the interests of all sentient creatures ought to be given equal consideration. II. In his argument, Singer states his thesis as the following: We should extend to other species the basic principle of equality that most of us recognize should be extended to all members of our own species (Singer 171). He goes on to explain that by the basic principle of equality he is referring to equality of consideration (172). Understanding that equality of consideration for different beings may potentially lead to different treatment and different rights amongst them, his argument remains uncompromised based on the fact that equality of consideration from one group to another does not imply that we must treat both groups in exactly the same way, or grant exactly the same rights to both groups (172). His argument is not for all sentient creatures to be endowed with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. The Testament Of The Bible The Bible simply says in Isaiah 55:9, For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts. God does work His wonders in ways that are beyond finding out! The congregation at Calvary has heard repeatedly about the classic book called Pilgrims Progress. In this timeless book there is a man named Mr. Worldly Wise. It doesn t take long for a Christian to realize that he shouldn t have listened to this man. Mr. Worldly Wise does not have the mind of God. There would appear to be great wisdom coming from his mouth, but it s not from God. Something that will have to be accepted by faith, no matter how good the intentions, if the direction that a person is going is not governed by God s wisdom, that journey, that path, will end in hopelessness. The Church, His blood bought Church, has the special revelation called the New Testament. One would think, with all the technology, modern science and medicine, that the Church would evolve to a place in society where the message of reaching the world would be different than it was when the Church began. But lest we forget the declaration of Isaiah, His ways are not our ways. The giant gulf that separates God and man is impassable. There is no way to get from here to there apart from the wisdom of God. His wisdom is completely separate from worldly wisdom. These gender expectations control and restrict the lives of both genders, most notably women. In. Austen s world, women have few opportunities to support themselves, and have high expectations attributed to them. Men were held to similar standards. Upper and middle class men were expected to add to their families wealth, be charming, and eventually marry. Deviation from these spoken and unspoken rules, such as Lydia and Wickham s elopement, would result in becoming a social pariah. Upon arriving, Elizabeth shocks the Bingley sisters, I shall never forget her appearance this morning. She looked almost wild. (Austen 35). Lady Catherine also plays a role in contrasting Elizabeth with more traditional women of the time. The confrontation between the two at Longbourn shows Elizabeth s willingness to stand up for herself against people of higher social standing, `I have said no such thing. I am only resolved to act in that manner, which will, in my own opinion, constitute my happiness, without reference to you, or to any person so wholly unconnected with me. (Austen 332). New transport infrastructure creates value and there are many stakeholders who benefit from well places and designed transport infrastructure. To seek a portion of this newly created value, you firstly need to identify and beneficiaries. Existing residents as many studies have proven, property prices increase once a major new transport infrastructure is announced. Residents do not need to wait for the infrastructure to be built, as prices have been shown to increase as early as the initial announcement. Residents all benefit from reduced congestion, faster and more reliable journey times, improved quality of life. Research showed that Melbourne s City Link had created increased land value of $30 billion. The Southern Railway in Perth showed that there was an uplift in value over 5 years by 42% above base value uplift for properties in station precincts. For every kilometres a dwelling in Brisbane was located in proximity of a ferry terminal there was an increase of 4% in price. In London research found that property within easy reach of a station was worth on average 20,000 pounds more than other properties. • 14. Lennie and George Relationship in Steinbeck s Novel Essay In this chapter of the novel, Steinbeck uses a lot of visual elements, strong dialect, symbolism, tone and theme. Much of these elements are shown right from the beginning of the chapter when the two men, Lennie and George arrive at the bunk house. Right from the first sentence, the tone and imagery is already set off by introducing the walls [being] whitewashed and the floor unpainted.(p17) In addition, he also introduces the bunks, also re enforcing the tone since the bunks are described as ...burlap sack of straw that was a mattress.(p18) At this point, George is realizing that not only does he have challenges by dealing with George, but he also has to live in this environment where things are not ... For example, when the boss was getting suspicious of George answering all of Lennies questions by commenting that Lennie [wasn t] much of a talker, is he?(p21) and also by asking then why don t you let him answer? What are you trying put over?(p21) If the boss found out then the truth about Lennie, he would have immediately asked them to leave. Furthermore, the theme of social isolation is vividly displayed with Crooks, just because of his skin color, gives the boss rights to give the stable buck hell (p19) whenever he is upset at something. The whole message Steinbeck is trying to convey through this chapter in the novel is basically this ranch is like a mini society. Anyone in this society can hold power, and when they get into that position of power over others, they use it in irresponsible ways. • 18. The Crooked Line Essay Ismat Chughtai s The Crooked Line reads like a classic Bildungsroman in many ways. It is the story of a child born in an environment which is fairly hostile who grows up and is able to move away from this hostile environment on a journey of self discovery. This basic structure is, however, where the similarity ends. A Bildungsroman is a novel of development of the central protagonist from birth to a position of stability within the social sphere. This normative form functions as a basis for Ismat Chughtai s novel The Crooked Line but instead of being the pattern followed, it is the path not taken. The normative Bildungsroman is that against which this novel rebels and tells the story of a protagonist who follows a trajectory which is individualistic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As it avows to depict reality and change is a fundamental feature of reality, it is imperative that the realist novel changes constantly as well. This implies that the structural foundation of a Bildungsroman would also have to be modified in order to make it contemporary and also realist. The nature of this change, especially in the European context is obvious in terms of the transformation of the novel from depicting stability into a genre which hinges on the inherent instability of a society. In his essay on this topic, Franco Moretti in his introduction to The Way of the World argues that the new novel is the transformative novel. In this, he uses the model of the novel of adultery in which the growth of a character is located in the sphere of adultery and thereby is essentially an unstable stability. This instability forms the foundation of the novel form in one more significant aspect; one which is critical for Chughtai s Shaman as well. Youth is important for the central protagonist because it is the site of potential which is hitherto untapped. This potential encapsulates the heroic potential of the protagonist and manifests itself in the larger system of causality in the text. The trajectory which the central protagonist will choose to follow is begun in a young age. The decisions of the character work as milestones against which one may measure the success or the degree of closure provided by the ending. However, as Moretti further elaborates, this Bildungsroman encapsulates within it another paradox; the individual s growth cannot be parallel to societal growth as the social sphere exists in order to suppress the individual. This implies that any authentic Bildungsroman hinges on the discovery of a stable and viable alternative. That the protagonist will in some way find a balance between the self and the world and therefore s/he will be able to develop personally as well as socially. This developmental ... Women s Experience Of Postnatal Care Statistics and data have shown that women are less satisfied with the care they receive post natal compared to the care they receive during antenatal and throughout labour including those women who receive caseload midwifery care (Forster et al., 2016). Thus, this assignment will focus on some aspects of care that influence a women s experience of postnatal care and changes that can be implemented to improve women s satisfaction with the early post natal care they receive. In addition, there will be a discussion about the role of the midwife in providing postnatal care that will be more satisfying for women. The first part of this essay will discuss how women feel on the postnatal ward, focusing on interactions with their care providers and routine care. Following will be a discussion about the physical environment of the postnatal ward and lastly, will be a discussion about the current length of stay in the hospital and how it may be affecting the women. Women are much less satisfied with the care the care they received during their post partum period compared with the antenatal, labour and birth care they receive (Forster et al., 2016). • 21. The Balancing Act of Adult Life Essay The Balancing Act of Adult Life Life in the 21st century seems more complex than ever, as adults cope with the demands of multiple roles, the stresses of a fluid workplace, and the pressures of child and elder care. Individuals feel compelled to update their work related knowledge and skills and to keep up with the proliferation of information. Family resource management is increasingly complex, with expanded choices and decisions that must be made about utilities, banking, investments, retirement planning, etc. The Internet has simultaneously made it easier to access information, yet more complicated to apply critical judgment to what one finds. This Digest describes a selection of adult education approaches to helping individuals negotiate the curriculum of life challenges. Beyond Life Skills In the 1990s, work/life balance caught the attention of researchers, policymakers, and employers, resulting in the development of a range of employment benefits, legislation, and programs aimed at helping people cope. Life management or family/career management curricula emphasize coping through the development of skills in communication, interpersonal effectiveness, and money, time, stress, and household management (e.g., California Community Colleges 1998; Mathieson 1999). As Caproni (1997) notes, research, policy, and practice focused on work/life balance have raised important issues and brought about changes that have benefitted some families. However, these approaches are incomplete in several ways. As Niles et al. (2001) point out, the usefulness of these types of responses benefits different segments of society differently. For the working poor, balancing work, nonwork, and life roles may be a luxury; they are likely to be far more circumspect in how they can commit their resources to family needs (p. 13). Caproni (1997) suggests that the discourse of work/life balance reflects bureaucratic values such as individualism, instrumentalism, goal focus, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One of the shootings ended with 12 people dead and 58 others harmed and only tis amount because the shooter gun was jammed. • 23. International Criminal Court Unfair Towards African... Is the International Criminal Court unfair towards African Nations vis à vis Western Nations? On October 12, 2016, the parliament of Burundi, a country located in the Eastern part of Africa voted to withdraw from the International Criminal Court (ICC) with a vote of 94 to 2. Weeks earlier, Gambia and South Africa announced their intention to withdraw from the ICC, and this wave of action by these three African nations has paved the way for other African nations to reassess if they wanted to still be part of the ICC. Since its establishment in 1998, the ICC has tried criminals of war mainly from African members states. This treatment has raised a lot of concerns within African nations, and they are expressing themselves about the unfair treatments and bias towards them from the International Criminal Court by threatening to leave this longtime praised establishment.. Created on July 17, 1998 in Rome, Italy, after more than 120 nations voted in favor of the Rome Statute, the International Criminal Court is an independent court that tries individuals or groups for war crimes, genocide, and crimes against humanity, and could open investigations when referred to by the United Nations Security Council. In order to veto or approve of its policies or resolutions, nations need to be members, and as of 2016 there are 124 members in the ICC. • 25. Hostile Takeovers in a DDM Situation Sourav has illustrated in the initial portion of his discussion how it is that the HPR and DDM values of his selected firms will differ, mainly as a result of the different assumptions underlying each formula. Between the HPR model s generalized distribution assumption, and the DDM s time consuming need to forecast each incremental dividend to be paid, investors are faced with a dilemma when determining which model to use when valuing a firm. Valkama et al (2013) then add further complication to the matter when they raise the issue of how special dividends and stock splits can then further impact the raw inputs of these formulae, as they will therefore require special adjustments to properly accommodate the relevance of these situations. With this information in mind, I intend on further developing the relevance of the DDM from the perspective of an investor that is looking to benefit from an acquisition. Each January, Morningstar (2013) publishes a list of takeover targets for the coming year. In their 2013 list, they included 11 firms. In using this list to demonstrate the potential upside of an acquisition to target firm shareholders, I expect to find that these firms demonstrate a lower DDM valuation than their actual HPR value, mainly because of the way in which their common shares have underperformed in relation to the value of their dividends, and therefore creating an opportunity for a firm to purchase the company at a discount, and realize the gains on a forward ... • 30. Description Of The Coypu ( Myocastor Coypus ) INTRODUCTION: The Coypu (Myocastor coypus) is a large, robust, semi aquatic rat like rodent and a casual observer may misidentify a Coypu as a beaver or a muskrat, especially when it is swimming. However, this superficial resemblance ends when a more detailed study of the animal is made (LeBlanc. 2005). The average size of the head and body is 52cm with the length of the tail being an additional 37cm. The body is highly arched with a large almost triangular head. The Incisors are large with an orange pigmented surface. The Coypu s pelage contains two types of fur; soft dense under fur and long coarse guard hairs, varying in colour from yellowish brown to reddish brown. The under fur is dark grey and is thicker on the abdomen (Gosling. 1981). The legs are short, with the hind feet being significantly longer than the forefeet, and possess five digits; the first four are connected by webbing and the fifth is free. The forefeet have four long, flexible digits with no webbing and a vestigial thumb. Because of their dexterous forepaws, coypu can excavate soil to construct sometimes complex burrow systems within riparian areas and handle very small food items (Woods et al. 1992; D Elia, 1999). The tail is long and rounded with a scaly texture and scantily haired (D Elia. 1999). In addition to having webbed hind feet, coypu have several other adaptations conducive to their semi aquatic lifestyle. The eyes, ears, and nostrils of coypu are set high on their heads. It will also describe the characteristics of the four major types of Plasmodium that affects humans along with the the complete classification, pathogenesis, how it is transmitted from one host to another, and who and what country is affected most from this infectious disease. The Plasmodium falciparum has numerous rings that are smaller, it has no trophozoites or schizonts, it is also a crescent shaped gametocyte. The Plasmodium vivax has a enlarged erythrocyte, Schuffner s dots, and ameboid trophozoites. The Plasmodium ovale is similar to the Plasmodium ovale, it has compact trophozoites, fewer merozoites in schizont, and elongated erythrocytes. The Plasmodium Malariae is a compact parasite and it has merozoites in rosette (Wiser, 2011). To further identify this infectious disease, it can be broken down into its taxonomic classification. The State of Nature and its Implications for Civilization in Hobbes and Rousseau In his Leviathan Thomas Hobbes expresses a philosophy of civilization which is both practical and just and stems from a clear moral imperative. It is in the interest of every man to rise above this state of nature and to give up certain rights so that the violent nature of the human animal can be subdued. For Hobbes the most important aspect of justice is keeping the peace through adherence to the natural law. Peace reigns supreme in his vision of civilization and a strong ruler who can pass laws to ensure that his subjects respect the covenant is needed. Although such a government might be granted a dangerous amount of power, nonetheless an overarching sovereign with knowledge of the natural laws is needed to keep in line those who would abuse the liberties granted them through the covenant, thus threatening the society with a return to the state of nature. Rousseau, in contrast, sees a true transcendence of the state of nature as including more than simply peace. His goal is more ambitious than Hobbes s. Charles Schaeffer And Friedrich Nietzsche Essay Introduction Born nearly 70 years apart from each other, Francis Schaeffer and Friedrich Nietzsche were two very important figures in creating the modern philosophy. Two different men that studied two different parts of philosophy. Because of their differences, most are unable to recognize their many similarities. Each of the men had the things they studied, but the basis of their theories were almost identical. Nietzsche One of the commendable influential philosophers in the history of ideas and a gifted stylist in his native German, Friedrich Nietzsche undertook a radical re evaluation of established ideas and critiqued moral values during his career. One of Nietzsche s primary studies was on the problem of morality. However, he seems to contradict himself on the matter of values. Tansesi claims it is because of the different definitions of value values in a descriptive sense as that which is thought to be of value by an individual or by the members of a group, and values in a normative sense as that which is objectively of value (652). Because of Nietzsche s committed denial of any moral values, it would seem impossible to attribute him to him a commitment to the existence of any values in the normative sense (652). In Thus Spake Zarathustra, he claims that to value is to create, and that it is only through valuing that there is value. • 44. Battle of Guadalcanal Some of the bloodiest fight of World War II came in the Pacific. Much of that fighting came at the Battle of Guadalcanal. A remote island in the Solomons Island chain, Guadalcanal was not thought of as important, prior to 1942. For several reasons, Guadalcanal was the most significant battle of the war in the Pacific. The Battle of Guadalcanal was the first offensive the United States took in World War II. Because of its location, Guadalcanal pushed back the Japanese defensive ring, and put the U.S. in an aggressive mindset. As an intangible factor, the victory at Guadalcanal provided a much needed morale boost to U.S. servicemen, who had not had a decisive triumph against the Japanese. Most importantly, the U.S. gained control of an important airstrip on Guadalcanal that the Japanese had been trying to utilize. Guadalcanal was the first American offensive of World War II. American efforts in the Pacific were heavily impeded by the Europe First strategy during World War II (Gray 317). President Roosevelt and Prime Minister Winston Churchill both saw Europe as being more important than Asia. Nazi Germany was viewed as the major threat to Western ideals. Neither the U.S. nor Europe feared a Japanese invasion. The American Army would send the majority of its forces into Europe. The U.S. Navy had some of its ships act as convoys to protect merchant ships, but most of the aircraft carriers were in the Pacific. The United States Marine Corps (USMC) was entirely ... • 45. Mexican And American Cultural Influences I come from a place that is heavily influenced by Mexican and American culture mostly due to living in a border town with Mexico. My mother is more in touch with her Mexican culture, while my dad is more influenced by a Tejano/American culture. They both have been great influencers in the person I am today. Growing up in my house all I spoke was Spanish mostly due to my grandmother only knowing that language, I eventually learned English as I entered school. I remember spending my weekends watching shows and movies like El Chavo del Ocho , La Nina de la Mochila Azul , and Rebelde or listening to the songs my mom put by Mana, Juan Gabriel, and Vicente Fernandez. • 46. Figurative Language In The Yearling Winning the Pulitzer Prize is like winning the Heisman Trophy. In that regard, Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings is comparable to Nile Kinnick. Kinnick won the Heisman in 1939 for his hard work, dedication, and ability to play football. Rawlings won the Pulitzer Prize in 1939 for her novel, The Yearling, for her deliberate use of sensory details, figurative language, and artful syntax. The appliance of sensory details throughout the novel enhance the story by depicting a vivid image of the characters and their situations. On page 224, Rawlings describes the events of the morning of the storm. The fawn came to Jody s bed and poked its muzzle against his face. The contrast of the wet, cold nose and Jody s warm face simulate the change of the setting from calm and warm to story and cold. Earlier in the story, Jody is once again sleeping, but this time on the river on page 6. There were no black boles of live oaks, no glossy green of magnolia leaves, no pattern of gold lace where the sun had sifted through the branches of the wild cherry. The sensory details of the fading reality epitomize the dreamland that Jody is drifting off to. In addition to the sensory details, the asyndeton contributes to the relatable feeling of thoughts turning to dreams as sleep takes over the mind. The most effective use of sensory details occurs on page 224 as Jody wakes up the morning of the storm. The morning, however, was clear, but the east was the color of blood. The distinct image of the sun ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 49. Assessing The Effect Of A New Teaching Approach Part B. Descriptive statistics: assessing the effects of a new teaching approach 1. The main goal of the analysis being conducted is to assess whether the new curriculum on basic electricity in basic science yields better achievement outcomes compared to the existing curriculum, which is a more traditional teaching approach, for elementary school students in both urban and suburban schools. In doing this analysis some questions that will be key to this study is to reveal if this new curriculum is beneficial when compared to the traditional teaching approach. Indeed, some students are randomly assigned to both the new curriculum and to the traditional teaching approach. As a result, through this randomization biases will be kept from occurring. This investigation is important because it will be determined what yielded better results through focusing on examining differences in the posttest variable for children who did or did not experience the new curriculum. 2. After downloading the data file (Assignment 1.dta) and reading it on Stata, I was allowed to see that there were some values that were missing: five to be exact. In other words, examining the ids I was able to see that the number did not correlate with the id. The ids went to 178 and there were only 173 entries. Indeed, the ids that were missing were 57,104,123,146, and 157. This was in contrast to running the codebook command for each variable id, treatment, urban, female, lowach, posttest which produced a table ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 50. Title Ix And Its Impact On American Sports Title IX consists of just thirty seven words, and it is these words that have transformed the dynamics within the female athletic sphere in the United States. Although the federal law was initially envisioned to assist women in academia, it is currently renowned for its profound impact on American sports (Ware). It is an irrefutable fact that Title IX has vastly increased women s participation in sports: the law has reportedly increased female participation rates within colleges six fold from 1972 the year it was passed to today (Cooky). Opportunities for women in sports have never been greater. However, despite the progress made by Title IX, it faces deep challenges in its quest to achieve true equality. Women s participation rates in sports still lag far behind men, and one cannot ignore this disturbing reality ( National Coalition ). Thus, the question as to whether or not Title IX has achieved gender equity is highly debatable. This paper intends to understand the shortcomings of Title IX s goal in attaining true equality through analysis of its limitations. Specifically, this essay will explore women s history in sports prior to Title IX, the importance of sports for females, an overview of Title IX s statute, and an analysis of the law s various issues. To narrow the scope of my essay, I will focus mainly on intercollegiate sports. Historical Attitudes Pre Title IX Prior to the passing of Title IX in 1972, women were generally not appreciated in the world of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 51. Is Disagreement With A Cognitive Peer From Another Faith... Does a disagreement with a cognitive peer from another faith or philosophical perspective reduce the confidence one has in the justification of one s belief? This is a difficult question for one to answer for various reasons and one of those reasons being that when someone believes that their knowledge in a particular subject is greater than others it s very difficult to change that person mind or the way that they see a particular subject. Although If I came up on this issue and someone asked me if a cognitive peers views would make me second guess my beliefs I must say no, it wouldn t lessen my belief or confidence on my point of view if that person was just as knowledgeable as I am. Everyone in this world no matter how old or how young, no matter how educated or how uneducated someone is everyone in this world has had a disagreement with someone. We as humans have disagreements on a daily basis. Whether that disagreement is over something important or just a subject that doesn t matter to anyone else other than the two discussing. When an argument occurs that means that there is two different points of views and that is what makes an argument interesting because you can have more knowledge on the way that someone else thinks about the topic that you are talking about. When it comes down to religion I must say that in no way would my point of view change if someone had a different opinion then I do. Why? Because one whose view would change after speaking to a cognitive ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
