Electron Energy Levels
Atomic Emission Spectra and Electron Energy Levels The electromagnetic spectrum is the entirety
of the wavelengths of electromagnetic radiation, extending from high energy gamma rays to the
low energy radio waves, and in the middle lies visible light. Visible light of course being the light
that the human eye can see. When white lightis run through a prism, it becomes broken up into
different light spectrums, but visible light can also be emitted from different elements such as when
you burn them. By applying heat, the electrons of an element become excited and they rise to a
higher energy orbital and when the electrons fall back into a ground state, electromagnetic radiation
or light is emitted. These frequencies of light that can be emitted by an atomis called the atomic
emission spectra. Atoms are the simplest whole unit of matter and consist of a positively charged
nucleus that is surrounded by negatively charged electrons. The electrons of an... Show more

Different wavelengths will be emitted as an electron returns to ground state based on its transition.
The higher energy the electron falls from the higher energy the wavelength will be. This as stated
is known as the atomic emission spectra, and each atomic emission spectra is unique to the
specific element and acts as a sort of fingerprint. A spectrum categorizes wavelengths based upon
the respective energy ;levels. The highest energy or shorter wavelengths are on the left while the
right holds the lowest energy or longest wavelengths. Based on this, the energy difference of an
electrons fall from excited to ground is what determines the wavelength of light. A fall from the
outermost shell to the innermost would result in an emission of high energy wavelength such as
gamma or uv rays, while a relatively low fall will result in low energy wavelengths such as radio
waves. The emission spectra helps identify

A Analysis On Business Management
A product designed for stable and mature end user markets require a process optimized for
control and efficiency. This article describes a structure to address this issue, permitting a firm to
better adjust the outline of its advancement procedures to the particular points of individual
projects. Products intended for steady and develop end client markets require a procedure
improved for control. There was no change in success rate even many companies invest million
dollars over past decade how to bring new product and serves to market to define and standardize.
Frequently, firms neglect to align product development strategy to business needs. Tackling this
problem requires that the room, craft a development strategy tot the context in which it competes

How Philanthropy Is Overrated
Philanthropy is almost the only virtue which is sufficiently appreciated by mankind.
I can get behind this idea about how philanthropy is overrated. I m sure Thoreau is referring to
extremely affluent people who give away portions of their hard earned cash simply because it
makes them look like better people and they will be respected and glorified as charitable
benefactors. In reality, this person has given hardly a fraction of their total worth and is unjustly
honored by the monetary standards of those who aren t that rich. Thoreau also says, Nay, it is
greatly overrated; and it is our selfishness which overrates it. The previous example is a prime case
in which it is selfishness (of the benefactor) that overrates the philanthropy. Those

The Theory And General Strain Theory
A theory is described, as an idea or set of ideas generally intended to explain, to prove facts or
events. Theory can be an idea that is suggested or presented as possibly true, that is not an ideas
that relates to a particular subject (Merriam Webster, 2015). Theory is an explanation of something.
Theories in criminal behavior explains why an individual commits criminal and delinquent acts.
This paper will compare and contrast two theories of crimeor criminal activities that was discuss in
this course.
The two theories identified are Strain theory and General strain theory. Strain theories are
indicated when certain strains or stressors are increased, there is a probability for a person to
commit a crime. According to Robert Merton, strain theory is a form of adaptive problem
solving behavior that is committed in response to problems involving frustrating and undesirable
social environments (Schmalleger, 2011). Strain results from an individual failure to achieve one
s goals, such as money, status/respect, autonomy, loss of a positive (death of a friend or love
one), and loss of value possession. Strain can be thought of as pressure that individuals feel to
reach socially determined goals (Agnew, 2015). A person who experience these strains become
upset, which they may turn to crime in an effort to cope. By doing so, crime may be an escape or
reduction for them to escape this feeling.
Historically in 1960s and 1970s, the thoughts of several criminologist such as

Single Methods That Enables Children To Read In Class
It is the responsibility of teachers to identify and employ teaching methods that enables students to
acquire ability to read in class. There is no single effective method that successfully works for all
children because of various reason. I agree with the International Reading Association statement
states that indeed, there is no single method or combination of different types of method that can
teach all the children successfully how to read (International Reading Association, 1999).
Psychologically, children are different, therefore, understand in a different manner (Richards
Rodgers, 2014). For instance, some of the children are able to understand better when teachers
employ example and drawings in class. Some have better listening ability while others understand
better when they make notes. Based on this difference, it is difficult to establish a combination of
methods or single methods that can effectively assist children how to read in class.... Show more

It is therefore difficult to determine that indeed, a certain method of teaching is effective compared

Essay On Screwball Comedy

challenging the culture of censorship in United States?
Milberg, Doris. The art of the screwball comedy: madcap entertainment from the 1930s to today.
McFarland, 2013.
Milberg s book dives into the popular screwball comedy genre that arose in the 1930s. The first few
chapters discuss the structure and major attributes of screwball comedies, highlighting the clever
dialogue, battle of the sexes, and physical elements that harken back to slapstick comedy films.
Popular tropes, such as ambitious newspaper reporters, and popular stars like Cary Grant from His
Girl Friday are featured. Milberg takes an in depth look at how films within the genre derived ...

Leff and Simmons book explores the history of film censorship, from the 1920 s Motion Picture
Producers and Distributors Association (MPPDA), to the Hays Code, to the current MPAA rating
system. The first half of the book gives a thorough background on the people who spearheaded the
efforts to enact censorship in Hollywood, especially focusing on MPPDA President William Hays
and Joseph Breen. Leff and Simmons detail the pre code vulgarity and blatant sexuality in films and
then recount the multitude of reactions of various stakeholders, including responses from the
Catholic church, newspaper mogul Randolph Hearst, the Women s Christian Temperance Union
(WCTU) and concerned public officials among many others. Ultimately, the book describes how
Hays is able to ward off federal intervention and Breen is able to enforce censorship of the Hays
Production Code in the film industry.
The book utilizes a wide variety of primary sources of films from the 1920s onward. Leff and
Simmons also use many newspaper and magazine articles that analyze censorship in films. They
utilize these sources to illustrate examples of how films went from having

Strengths And Weaknesses Of Fact School
This is a number operation lesson for Kindergarten 2nd grade. This lesson might be used in
conjunction with lessons involving fact families. The goal of the lesson is to help the students gain
an understanding of fact families. The students will start with one number, 7, and find the different
addition and subtraction fact families for each number. After the students have used the counters
/cubes/buttons and the red strip and found the different facts of the first number, the students will
count out 8 counters/cubes/buttons and find the next numbers in the fact families.
Strengths Weaknesses:
The activities in this lesson promote a deep understanding of fact families and the different
properties of fact families involving addition and subtraction. A strength of this lesson, with it being
the beginning of learning and using fact families, is the fact that the students are using
manipulatives to visualize and see the similarities in fact families. The students are also recording
their information and facts down as they manipulate the counters/cubes/buttons. This allows the
students to visualize the fact families in all of the possible ways, while still getting the practice of
writing out the information, since they will not always have the materials as supports. Students use
of manipulatives and writing in conjunction allows the students to have maximum practice in
learning number combinations. The questions that are related to this lesson will help the students

El Dorado In The Film The Invention Of Lying
Virtues are the core characteristics valued by moral philosophers and religious thinkers: wisdom,
courage, humanity, justice, temperance, and transcendence. (Peterson 13) An exaggerated
example demonstrating virtue would be a nun who has never lied, cheated, or stolen at any point
in her life. El Dorado is a Utopian society with no crime or need for government outside of a king,
although the king simply acts like everyone else s equal. The concepts of El Dorado and virtue
practically go hand in hand. El Dorado not only suggests the idea that humans are capable of
virtue, but thrives on the idea. In order for El Dorado to not have a government besides a leader,
the citizens would have to trust that everyone in the city will remain virtuous.
In order for someone to imagine anything close to that of El Dorado, one would have to imagine a
world such as that in the movie The Invention of Lying . Everyone just tells the truth no matter
how stupid or scary it may seem, and everyone trusts that the other person is doing the same.
(Huggo) A majority of people anymore would consider it a very scary thought to have to trust that
everyone will just do the right thing. People s distrust in others could be a result of many factors,
the more prominent constants being that too many people prove to each other that they are
dishonest and disloyal, two characteristics ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

government started in October 1999 and ended in August 2008. The era of Pervez Musharraf is
referred as the golden eight years. It is, probably the longest single statement of feats of
developments, repairs and enhancements in one of the most difficult countries to govern as
described in Times Magazine. Moreover, the economic indicators and growth rate were best in the

Vertical Integration Of Film Industry
When we think of the film industry in Hollywood, we often picture it in our mind as an ideal
industry full of fame and money. What makes the production process of films in Hollywood so
successful? The answer is the studio system. According to Hollywoodlexicon.com, the studio
system is a business model adopted by five major Hollywood studios Paramount Pictures, Metro
Goldwyn Mayer, Warner Brothers Pictures, 20th Century Fox and RKO that combined all facets of
filmproduction with studio owned distribution chains. In fact, The Big Five Studios possessed 17%
of the theaters that owned 45% of domestic film rentals by 1945. The genesis of the studio system
began when the studio system first took over Thomas Edison s organization called the... Show more

The term vertical integration refers to the structure of a marketplace that is integrated (rather than
segregated) at a variety of crucial levels; in the case of the motion picture industry, the studio system
established a market in which the studios are owners of their production facilities, distribution
outlets, and theaters (Belton 68). Since the studios could control the entire process of production,
distribution/booking and exhibition, they could be recognized as a monopoly. The studios even
owned their actors, directors, producers, cinematographers, screenwriters, art directors, and other
staff by keeping them all under a contract. The formation of vertical integration first started in the
1910s, when independent exhibitors and independent distributors were denied motion pictures by
the trust. Independent exhibitors had to pay fees to the trust if they wanted to use its theaters and
many refused the idea of paying those fees while independent distributors disliked the idea of the
trust s control on the supply of films. These problems resulted in the merging of distribution
companies and production companies as they sought to get into production. The mergers bought
theater chains and exhibitors contributed their distribution and production to the merger s
business model. An example is the establishment of Metro Goldwyn Mayer, which was merged
from Metro Pictures, Louis B. Mayer Picture Corp, and Goldwyn Pictures in 1924. The formation
of Metro Goldwyn Mayer was made possible by Marcus Loew, who owned a chain of theaters and
bought the individual companies Metro Pictures, Goldwyn Pictures, and Louis B. Mayer Picture
Corp. in order to get into production and distribution. This merge gave Metro Goldwyn Mayer the
ability to optimize the distribution, production and exhibition processes of a movie. To

Restricting Cell Phones in Public Places
Restricting Cell Phones in Public Places How many times have you seen someone on their cell
phones in a restaurant or in a public environment? There have been so many instances when I
will be out eating with my family and look over at another table and a person will be in deep
conversation on the cell phone, while their family is with them. There are many reasons why
restricting cell phones could have a positive outcome. It can be rude to a family, disrespectful to
the other people that are around that person, and when a family goes out together it should be
family time. First is the fact that it is rude to a person s family. When a family plans an event that

Eating and talking on the phone or texting is not healthy to a person s digestive system. Stressful
mealtimes can cause medical conditions that can be harmful to a person s health, such as acid
reflux. Taking the cell phones out of a situation will make a person slow down and relax.
Actually enjoy eating a meal; instead of being hurried can be beneficial. Not being able to be on
the phone during a meal can give a person some relaxation time. Some people would argue that
having their cell phone is a necessity to their jobs, but a person has to have some personal time
to enjoy their family and friends, without the disruption of the phone ringing constantly. It is
understandable if it is an emergency and the person needs to answer the phone. Working
constantly is not healthy for their wellbeing. Even if it is another friend calling, it is rude to be
with a person s family and be talking to someone else on the phone. We have become a society
that does not enjoy family time like it needs to. We only have our children for a few short years.
This time should be savored, not taken for granted. I think taking the cell phones out of the
equation would be beneficial for all the people involved. Restricting cell phone usage in public
places can be beneficial to everyone involved. Being on the phone is not only rude and
disrespectful to his or her family members, but also rude to anyone else they are having

Network Design Essay
3 General Ideas:
The three general ideas which are interesting to my preference would be,
Network Security
Network Architecture and
Artificial Intelligence
1. Network Security:
Keeping a network secured is always mandatory because information cannot be share by a person
who is unauthorized and network security is an advanced procedure where it will prevent possible
access or misuse of information on network or modify any data on the network without having an
access to it. There are several ways of network security by which a network can be secured.
The three sub areas which I have selected in Network Security are,
Data Loss Prevention: Any company which has a network and few work stations which work on
this network should make sure ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So, NAC (Network Access Control) is the process which will be giving limited access depending on
their designation.
2. Network Architecture:
This is one of the most important phase while creating a secured network. Network architecture
will discuss the design of network which has both software and hardware connectivity along with
process of transmission and communications in both wired or wireless networks. There are few
topologies (star, bus, loop or mesh) and types of networks (LAN, WAN or MAN) which are to be
considered and then need to work on the architecture accordingly.
The three sub areas which I have selected for Network Architecture are,
Planning of Network Design: A proper planning of a network design will always lead to better
results. Planning should be done in such a way that network should always run properly and
should be secured 24/7. Strong firewalls and updated components are to be picked for proper
planning of network. There should always be a space in network so that we can either expand or
add few more components to network which will make network even more big. Blueprints of
networks must be made prior to network design because they are the ones which will be helpful in
designing the actual network.
Data Transfers within the network: Making sure that data is

The Benefits of Year Round Education and Extended School...
Year round education (YRE) is implemented in 436 U.S. school districts with very few complaints.
In fact, school districts that have been participating in YRE and extended school days (ESD) are
raving about the benefits in pupil s achievement level, their new found enthusiasm in learning, as
well as the many programs that exist in the extended day promoting the decline in latch key
children.
Some schools decided to initiate YRE and ESD because of swelling enrollments and lack of
student achievement. There were many issues raised when deciding if YRE and ESD were a step
in the right direction. For one, we are all creatures of habit, and to implement a new school schedule

By keeping the child in school on a year round schedule or ESD students will be less likely to loose
information due to a long summer recess and have more time in a learning environment, therefore,
enriching the child s learning abilities.
There are different types of YRE and ESD schedules. The most popular schedule is single track
and is usually implemented for the purpose of academic improvements. On a single track
schedule children attend school year round with frequent intersessions or breaks. Typical
schedules might be 90 30, 60 20, or 45 15 where the first number indicates days of instruction and
the second, days of vacations (Opheim, Mohahjer, Read, 1996). There is also a multi track
schedule, which is known to be more cost efficient. This schedule is often implemented when the
school is overcrowded, in poor neighborhoods, as well as in inner city schools. On a multi track
schedule students schedules are consistent with the single track 90 30, 60 20, or 45 15, however,
students are assigned to one of the several tracks which are staggered therefore, no one group of
students has the same intersession at the same time. By staggering attendance schedules, class size
is deducted. Studies have concluded that decreased class size promotes more efficient learning.

The Calling Of St. Matthew By Caravaggio

paints measuring 127 inches by 130 inches. The painting can be found today in the Contarelli
Chapel in the french church San Luigi dei Francesi in Rome. It is located in the chapel with two
other paintings by Caravaggio, all about St. Matthew. The painting is telling a story from the
Gospel of Matthew. It shows the moment that Jesustells Matthew to follow him and become one
of his apostles. The main characters in this painting are Matthew, Jesus, and Peter. There are five
young men seated counting money. They are all armed and dressed in fancy clothes. The room

It represents the sacrifice Jesus is going to make for the people. Caravaggio s hand placement
for Jesus is very similar to Michelangelo s hand in his The Creation of Adam painting. This could
have been done intentional. Michelangelo painted God as he awakens Adam and now
Caravaggio has painted Jesus reaching out to Matthew as he is recreating his life. It is hard to
tell exactly who Jesus is pointing at since there are five men seated in front of him. However, the
intensity of the light, probably from a door that was opened, takes the viewers eyes right to the
bearded mans hand which he is pointing at himself in shock. Matthew is surprised that Jesus
would pick someone like him. Caravaggio is showing his audience that even if you believe you
are not holy enough, everyone is able to follow Christ. He gives his audience the ability to relate
to St. Matthew. This tells us that he is Matthew. At this moment, Matthew has to decide if he
wants to stay and continue to be a tax collector, or follow Jesus. The coin on top of his hat and his
hand reaching out to a coin, symbolizes that money is a huge part of him, if he went with Jesus he

(Environmental Science, 2017). Entomologists are able to do so by analyzing the age and species
of a bug (Discovery Network, 2015). While this does not always provide necessary evidence, it
often gives police a lead in a case (Discovery Network, 2015). Ultimately, entomologyis a science

Entomologists are people who have worked very hard to meet all the requirements for the job
(Study, 2017). They have gone through years of college, and developed the right aptitude as well
(Study, 2017). The insects the entomologists study give multiple clues with their actions (Crime
Museum, 2017). By simply living out their life, the bugs can provide entomologists with the time a
murder occurred (Crime Museum, 2017). This can then be used to put together a report against
someone, and from there, hopefully accuse the correct person (Discovery Network, 2015).

Government-Funded Independent Schools Essays
An analysis of charter schools government funded independent schools that offer either a special
theme or are required to meet a particular performance indicator (Davies Guppy, 2006) as an
alternative to mainstream public education reveals that charter schools should be notnot be
supported for several reasons. First, in terms of academic performance, there is little evidence that
charter schoolstudents fare better than public schoolstudents (Murphy, 2003). Second, as new
providers of education, advocates claim charter schools bring innovative and fresh new thinking to
schooling practices (Davies Guppy, 2006), but research has found there is weak evidence to
support such a claim. Finally, proponents of charter schools and... Show more content on

This is opposed to the one size fits all approach of the public education system (Davies Guppy,
2006). Consequently, student learning and performance should increase. However, there is little
evidence to support this claim; studies have found that improvements in learning are not significant
and are similar to the achievement gains in regular public schools (Murphy, 2003).
The absence of an alleged increase in academic achievement in charter schools compared to public
schools is further supported by a study on the results of the 2003 National Assessment of
Educational Progress (NAEP) mathematics exam in the U.S. The study compared the math scores
of 190,000 fourth graders and 153,000 eight graders students from 13,577 public, private and charter
schools (Lubienski Lubienski, 2006). As opposed to reading, math is more influenced by school
than home experiences and thus, math scores offer better insights into the performance of different
types of schools relative to one another (Lubienski Lubienski, 2006). Once differences in location
and demographics were controlled, the study found that the fourth graders in charter schools
actually scored a statistically significant 4.4 points lower than public schools, but eight graders in
charter schools scored a statistically insignificant 2.4 points higher than public schools (Lubienski
Lubienski, 2006). Clearly, the findings of this study refute

Female Mathematicians Essay
Throughout history, women have been looked down upon and seen as insubordinate and incapable.
Women were never viewed as equal to men until about the 1950s. History will also tell us that men

does not seem to be the case. Women have had just as big an impact on math as men have, if not a

Hypatia s most well known improvements to science and astronomy include her re inventing of
the hydrometer and charting of the stars. In mathematics, she is most notable for her
contributions to working on different conic sections.Simply by dividing cones in different ways
on a plane, she was able to develop the idea of different graphs and shapes such as parabolas,
ellipses, and hyperbolas. Her understanding of the conic sections lead her to be one of the key
contributors to the invention of the astrolabe as well (Morrow 1998). Christianity became
extremely popular in Alexandria during the time when Hypatia lived there along with many
riots breaking out. She was a pagan and known for defending science against any form of
religion. She was mercilessly killed by an angry mob who accused her of religious turmoil.
Although she died a horrible death of being stripped of her skin and limbs, her legacy lived and
still lives. Mathematics was thriving in Athens, so that is where her students eagerly fled to.
Although, many of her works that were stored in the library of Alexandria were destroyed by an
Arab invasion. Hypatia is an important symbol for many generations and will always be considered
to be the first woman in mathematics. The next woman to be discussed is Grace Chisholm Young.

History of TPM
TPM, a unique Japanese system of managerial expertise, was created in 1971, based on the PM
(preventive maintenance or productive maintenance) concept introduced from the United States in
the 1950s through the 1960s. Subsequently, in the 1970s through the 1980s, TPM gradually
developed as its remarkable achievements because recognized. TPM now permeates entire
company structures, every line of business, and all parts of the world; this is evidenced by a sharp
increase in the number of business establishments receiving PM awards based on TPM, the shift
from production sector TPM to company wide TPM, and the growing number of countries in which
TPM is practiced.

Disadvantages Of Situational Syllabus
1. INTRODUCTION
A syllabus can be defined as the specification of aims and the selection and grading of content to
be used as a basis for planning foreign language (Newby, 2000, p.590). Therefore, an annual
syllabus is considered to be the document which compiles all the information necessary to carry out
the important task of teaching. There are different kinds of syllabus and in this aspect it would be a
mistake not to mention the pioneering work of Wilkins (1976). This author distinguishes between
situational syllabuses and notional syllabuses. The first one appears in a reaction against
grammatical syllabuses which did not take learners situational needs into account (Wilkins, 1976,
p.16). As Wilkins (1976, p.16) points out, we need the languageso that we can use it in the
situations that we encounter . Therefore, situational syllabuses compile a series of learning units
with a wide diversity of situations in which learners learn to use the language. On the contrary,
notional syllabuses take the desired communicative capacity as the starting point (Wilkins, 1976,
p.18). According to this scholar, the advantage of the notional syllabus is that it does not only take
into account grammatical and situational factors but also the communicative ones (Wilkins, 1976,
p.19). In this light, Melrose (1991, p.5) affirms that in a notional syllabus
it is assumed that speakers will need to express three ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, a course syllabus can be understood as the flexible document of reference which includes the

clarify the objectives, content and methods for learners, they regularize teaching and learning and
they guide the process of teaching and learning (Newbuy, 2000,

What Is The Theme Of Anger
Anger is an emotional state to express feelings such as indignation that may range in intensity
from mild irritation to intense fury and rage, according to Charles Spielberger, a psychologist who
specializes in the study of anger. Anger can destroy man s life and make him live in misery forever,
so angerhas been fed by feelings of disappointment, hurt, rejection, and embarrassment. Anger
may consider useful for psychopaths in order to express their inside feelings. The expression of
anger can be through active or passive behaviors. In the case of active emotion, the angry person
lashes out verbally or physically at a target. When anger is a passive emotion it is characterized by
silent sulking, passive aggressive behavior, hostility and tension (Clausen 7). Anger can also be
caused as irritation escalates during exposure to an annoyance.

Essay about Blindsight and Qualities of Visual Perception
Blindsight and Qualities of Visual Perception
ABSTRACT: The aim of this paper is to defend a broad concept of visual perception, according to
which it is a sufficient condition for visual perception that subjects receive visual information in a
way which enables them to give reliably correct answers about the objects presented to them.
According to this view, blindsight, non epistemic seeing, and conscious visual experience count as
proper types of visual perception. This leads to two consequences concerning the role of the
phenomenal qualities of visual experiences. First, phenomenal qualities are not necessary in order
to see something, because in the case of blindsight, subjects can see objects without experiences
phenomenal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Concerning the role of the phenomenal qualities for seeing particularly the following two questions
are of importance:
(1) The first question is dealing with the causal or functional role of phenomenal qualities: Under
the assumption that seeing is based on cortical information processing, the question arises, whether
the phenomenal qualities of visual perceptions have a function with regard to this processing, in the
sense that the intentional content of visual perceptions depends not only on their intentional, but
also on their phenomenal qualities. Is it true, as among other authors Frank Jackson and Steven
Pinker claim, that phenomenal qualities are only epiphenomena, not having any function for
information processing? (1)
(2) The second question concerns the status of phenomenal qualities: Are the phenomenal qualities
of visual perceptions non intentional qualities, or do they belong to a certain type of intentional
qualities? In other words, are phenomenal and intentional contents essentially different, or are the
so called phenomenal contents of visual perceptions really part of their intentional contents?
In order to come to a decision concerning these two questions, several authors, among them Peter
Carruthers, Daniel Dennett, Colin McGinn, Nicholas Humphrey and Robert VanGulick, refer to an
empirical phenomenon called blindsight . (2)

Analysis Of Albert Camus The Plague Essay
The evil in this world comes almost always from ignorance. Goodwill can cause as much harm as
ill will, if it lacks understanding. Wrote Albert Camus in the plague. Today, more than ever, this
quote is relevant in the context of Afghanistan, a country in the crossroads between South and
Central Asia, country mired in conflict of varying intensity since 1979.
In the history of Afghanistan, a state, in order to be deemed as legitimate, had to satisfy three
preconditions. Firstly, it had to be a broker between clans, tribes and ethnic groups. Secondly it had
to deliver basic security and ensure secure access to public services and infrastructure. Lastly, it had
to embody the concept of Afganistan as an independent Islamic territory .
The West caricatures Afghans as hirsute warriors, wild eyed extremists, women confined to the
margins of society. But it has little relation to how the Afghans see themselves. Integral to Afghan
value is Islam. Almost all Afghans are muslims and some 80 per cent of them belong to the Hanafi
madhab, the most liberal school of sunni Islam . Of the rest, most are Shia. Although most Afghans
are devoutly religious, they see religion as essentially a private affair, ideally conducted within a
community of fellow believer but not something dictated by state.
Key to understanding the Afghan concept of identity is that it formed in relation to others: to the
family, to community, to tribe or ethnic group. A person s sense of self and place in the

Abstract
According to the report for the 2012 National Health Interview Survey, at least 1.5 million
Americans weakened their vision due to use of technology. However, thanks to advanced
technology and innovation people can choose between glasses and contacts as a therapy for
improving their eyesight. Contact lenses have become the fastest progressing medical devices in
optometry and have seen a number of significant improvements and developments since its

plastic contact lenses were produced between 1938 1940 in the United States and the first soft

Without a detailed examination of the financial reporting practices and related disclosures of each

Real Business Cycles Hypothesis Sees Cycles

Real Business Cycles hypothesis sees cycles as starting in frictionless splendidly focused economies
with for the most part finish markets subject to genuine stuns (irregular changes in innovation or
efficiency), it makes the contention that cycles are predictable with aggressive general harmony
situations in which all operators are levelheaded maximizers (The Economist). In opposition to
what Keynesian, Monetarist, and new traditional business analysts trusted, RBC scholars,

RBC models were for the most part fruitful in representing diligence and co movement, yet less
effective in offering persuading clarifications for changes in occupation (Real Business Cycle

The Baxter and King paper, Fiscal Policy in General Equilibrium concentrates on four exemplary
financial approach tests inside a quantitatively confined neoclassical model. The creators primary
discoveries are as per the following: lasting changes in government buys can prompt short run and
long run yield multipliers that surpass one; perpetual changes in government buys instigate bigger
impacts than transitory changes; the financing choice is quantitatively more critical than the asset
expense of changes in government buys; and open venture affects private yield and speculation.
These discoveries stem from critical element collaborations of capital and work truant in prior
harmony investigations of monetary arrangement (Baxter King 1993).
In the event that business cycles are brought about for the most part by changes in efficiency,
instead of by money related and budgetary unsettling influences, what part do financial and
monetary arrangements play? In Satyajit Chatterjee s article he examines the likelihood that
countercyclical money related and financial arrangements have assumed a vital part in

Outline Of Alexis De Tocqueville
1.) Alexis de Tocqueville viewed equality as the greatest political and social idea in his era. He
was a French sociologist and political theorist who traveled to the United States to study its social
ethics. As one who studied our country from an outside country, he thought that America provided
the most profound example of equality within society. In his piece, he says, But one also finds in
the human heart a depraved taste for equality, which impels the weak to want to bring the strong
down to their level, and which reduces men to preferring equality in servitude to inequality in
freedom. Alexis de Toqueville means that men want equality, however one may do whatever it

Individualism in humans was consdered dangerous in society because once a population is
unwilling to contribute to society, it could cause a crumble in the system and lead to a harder
situation for all members of the area. Those who are individualists are unwilling to bond with the
rest of society and make it difficult for functions to run properly. 3.) When in America, Alexis de
Tocqueville made notable observations about the forming of assosiations within society. He states
that Americans of all ages, all conditions, all minds constantly unite. De Tocqueville meant that
those who are individualized seemed to become lonely and have less purpose to work with others
to better the world for all. He noted that there were many different kinds of associations, including
religions, book distributions, hospitals, and schools that had associations within themselves. He
also notes relationships between republic and democratic associations and their impacts on politics.
4.) Alexis de Toqueville says that political associations may ultimately crash if society leans toward
isolation and fails to preserve their freedom.

Given the history of prior German spy agencies like the Nazi SS and the Stasi of the Cold War
era, it is easy to understand the trust issues Germans have with spies. Recently the BDN found
themselves in hot water over their collection of phone call data. After Edward Snowden s
unauthorized disclosure of NSA collection in Germany, attention was drawn to the BDN s own
telecommunication collection activities in Bavaria. The revelation that the NSA was using the
BDN to listen in on not only German s phone conversations but also French and Middle Eastern
calls sent the German people into a panic calling for major reforms in the

The Art Institute Of Chicago
Next time you are walking through the Art Institute of Chicago I would highly recommend a visit
to the Gift of Edlis|Neeson Collection, located on the second floor, gallery 292A. Here you will
find a tantalizing array of modern day contemporary art that delivers a sensory overload wherever
you turn. Nestled in between the copiousness of talent you will find three offerings from a
prominent living contemporary artist called Jasper Johnstitled Alphabet (1959), Figure 4 (1959),
and Target (1961). Although at times his work faced rejection from the critics of individualism of
abstract expressionists his life s journey sculptured his path to who he is as a person and who he
has become as a modern day renowned contemporary artist.
In 1958, gallery owner Leo Castelli discovered Johns while visiting the Rauschenberg s studio. This
was an important time in Johns art career as his style had started to settle more into contemporary art
due to his personal relationship with Robert Rauschenberg. According to The Society for
Contemporary Art Castelli gave him his first solo show. It was here that Alfred Barr, the founding
director of New York s Museum of Modern Art
, purchased four works from this show. In the latter
part of the 1950 s, Jasper Johns arose as the shinning star in the American art scene (Wildfire
Media 2015). His paintings of maps, flags, and targets led the artistic community away from
Abstract Expressionism toward a new emphasis of Neo Dada and Pop Art. Today, as

Civil Rights Reflection Paper
Vice President Johnson, Mr. Speaker, Mr. Chief Justice, President Eisenhower, Vice president
Nixon, President Truman, Reverend Clergy, fellow citizens: We observe today not a victory of
party but a celebration of freedom symbolizing an end as well as a beginning signifying renewal
as well as change. For I have sworn before you and Almighty God the same solemn oath our
forebears prescribed nearly a century and three quarters ago. The world is very different now.
For man holds in his mortal hands the power to abolish all forms of human poverty and all forms
of human life. And yet the same revolutionary beliefs for which our forebears fought are still at
issue around the globe the belief that the rights of man come not from the generosity of the state
but from the hand of God. We dare not forget today that we are the heirs of that first revolution.
Let the word go forth from this time and place, to friend and foe alike, that the torch has been
passed to a new generation of Americans born in this century, tempered by war, disciplined by a
hard and bitter peace, proud of our ancient heritage and unwilling to witness or permit the slow
undoing of those human rights to which this nation has always been committed, and to which we
are committed today at home and around the world. Let every nation know, whether it wishes us
well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend,
oppose any foe to assure the survival and the success of

Statement Of Sop For Computer Engineering
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE Dreams, dreams are what we live for, what we believe in, and
what we want to achieve. We live because we dream. I had my childhood ambition of doing
something great, something different for myself. I ve always had this little dream of doing
something big. At present we are in a technological and computing revolution that will severely
change our lives and eventually readdress what it means to be a human. I am very galvanized at
the prospect of devoting my career to such a dynamic, fast advancing field. From the time I was
young, I loved dabbling with computers and experimenting with various applications. My lifetime
has essentially coincided with the rise of modern computing industry, I can feel that there are still
tremendous developments to come in this field. So I choose Computer Science as my university
major, and now, as I am in the end of my undergraduate course, my central goal is to continue my
education in a more competitive and international environment. Any tryst with sciences,
mathematics or any area... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I also learned sundry subjects such as Database Management Systems, Data Structures, Computer
Networks, Computer Organization, Software Engineering, etc with verve. I have observed on
various occasions that there exists a wide gap between learning and implementation at the
undergraduate level, to hugely distance an engineering student from a professional engineer that he
meant to be. The undergraduate courses will enable a student to grasp the fundamentals involved
in a particular discipline of Engineering, they do not present an opportunity to learn the ropes of
technologies that are currently within the industry. So, a bachelor s degree provides a sound
alternative to take a direct leap from schooling fundamentals to industry standards, it is still
insufficient for an Engineer to make it out in the professional world. So, I opt for a graduate

Using Empathy In Psychosocial Psychology
Empathy is an important tool in all parts of life, both personally and professionally. Empathy is
both a tool and a state of mind, which allows us to understand other people s points of view. By
using empathy, we can better understand the people around us, weather they are friends or clients.
Many jobs rely on using empathy to connect with their clients, whether they be Doctors or work in
advertising, being able to understand the feeling, fears, and points of view of other people is
imperative in the world of business. Without empathy it s hard to from connections with people,
and you can come off as cold and unpleasant to work with. The job that I am currently studying for,

For instance, being able to connect to, and relate to a patient with depression is essential if you
want them to be able to open to you and share what the root of their problems are. Even when
conducting labs empathy is useful, not only to help relate to, and better understand the data that
your participants give you, but by using empathy your assuring that the study is staying ethical.
Having an in depth understanding of empathy as a psychologist is useful when trying to solve a
problem between two patients, and by using my knowledge of empathy I would be able help them
understand how each other feel about what ever situation is causing the problem. Another way
empathy is useful in psychology is if you are working within a prison, and are trying to help
rehabilitate criminals. By using empathy, it could be possible to designed a program that could
teach empathy to violent criminals inside of prisons, and eventually help them reenter society.
Empathy is a necessary part when working in psychology, but having too much empathy can also

The Effect Of Abundance Of Nutrients On Plant Morphology...
All plants rely on nutrients to help them repair damaged cells and grow, each nutrient with its own
benefit. For example, selenium increases plant resilience within harsh climates. Plant morphology
and growth is especially important for crops that are in high demand such as winter wheat grain
which has one of the highest worldwide production rates. The effect of the abundance of nutrients
on plantmorphology is further investigated in this study. This study entails winter wheatseeds being
placed in treatments of different concentrations of nutrients and observed and measured after two
weeks have passed. By keeping the environment constant, the effect of each treatment was measured
exclusively. The plants in the treatment without nutrients were noticeable shorter than those in the
treatments which contained nutrients. The results found suggest that the concentration of nutrients
is not as important so long as nutrients are included in the treatment.
Nutrients are an essential resource needed for plants to grow and replenish. They can be divided
into two main subgroups macronutrients and micronutrients. Most nutrients are absorbed through
the root hairs and can be used to repair tissues as well as run important processes such as
photosynthesis (Rush et al. 2016). For example, the nutrient Selenium is known to increase the
resilience of plants in harsh environments. In an experiment completed to see the effects of
selenium on wheat growth, it was noted that the Selenium

Since 1971 the health care system has deviated from each other. While Canada has had publicly
funded national health insurance, the United States has relied largely on private financing and
delivery (Goran Ridic). The current health Care act (Canada health act) was introduced in 1984 and
it covers almost all the cost of citizens medical cost. In the course of this period, spending in the
United States has grown much more rapidly despite large groups that either not covered or
minimally insured.
Canada health care system is relatively low compare the United States. So why are do they have
better coverage (lower infant mortality rates or higher life expectancy)?
Under the Act, each provincial health plan is administered at the provincial level and provides
comprehensive first dollar coverage of all medically necessary services. With minor exceptions,
health coverage is available to most if not all residents with no out of pocket charges. Most
physicians are paid on a fee for services and enjoy a great deal of practice autonomy. Private
health insurance for covered services are illegal. Most Canadians have supplemental private
insurance for services that are not covered, such as prescription drugs and dental services.
Consequently, physicians are forced to participate and each health plan effectively serves all
residents in the province (Henderson 487).
Physician fees are determined by a negotiations between the ministry and provincial medical

What Kind Of Asian Are You Essay
Where are you from? Are you Chinese by chance? Are you really Vietnamese? In the poem What
Kind of Asian Are You? Alex Dang tells us why these questions could annoy someone. He also
addresses the stereotypes good or bad and prejudices Asians or any other race faces using allusions
and many other literary and sound devices like imagery in his poem. The many things he talks
about Asians could be applied to other races and that other races could connect with.
Alex uses allusion and rhyme to show that when someone asks people what is their race. People feel
that they are being marginalized and are only judged upon by their race s culture. For example
every time you confuse me with some other nationality that I might share similar feature to is
stripping away my individuality. (line66 68) Shows the readers that talking only about their
nationality will make the person feel that s the only thing they are. All that matters is the color of
their skin and where they re from while nothing that they ve done or achieved matters.

Obamacare History
UMMARY HISTORY:
The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act., a health reform, known as the Obamacare was
signed into law by formal President Barack Obama on March 23, 2010.
Seven (7) year later is still going strong, and its estimated by 2018, the pre existing health
condition will be covered without the need to pay a co pay.
EXPLANATION:
What is the ACA, is healthcare in which is affordable for the consumer, patient, for families. This
program was designate to help all individuals to obtain a health policy for less, to improve their
quality of life by giving everyone the benefit needed and the protections regardless of previous
health medical history (MHI) any present conditions.
This was designed under laws, state ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cost curbing measures and reductions in health insurance costs for many Americans due to
subsidies help to insure tens of millions by expanding coverage options. This expansion could
potentially result in an overall net decrease of the deficit by driving health care costs down over
time.
Obamacare was originally projected to cut the national deficit by over $200 billion during its
first 10 years, and by over $1 trillion over the next two decades in March of 2012. Although
estimates have changed, the law s provisions continue to curb healthcare costs. This helps offset
the current estimated $1.207 trillion net cost of ObamaCare s insurance related provisions. (The
gross cost of ObamaCare is $1,707 billion, offset by a projected $500 billion in revenue for 2016
2025.)
The new lowered estimate of $1.207 trillion is, in part, due to a downward trend in spending by
private health insurers in health care and administration. The Congressional Budget Office (CBO)
and Joint Committee on Taxation (JCT) estimate that growth in private health insurance spending
per enrollee over the 2006 2013 period averaged 1.8% per year, compared with an average rate of
5.0% per year during the 1998 2005

For This Project, I Worked With Brandon Bowers To Begin
For this project, I worked with Brandon Bowers to begin a donation food drive for the local
domestic violence and sexual assault shelter in Murfreesboro, the Bernard House. We discussed
the project and picked the Bernard House in late March. When I called, they said that they
always needed nonperishable food items, and there was a list of items they were asking for
during an Easter food drive that we used in our flyers. On April 5th, I got in contact with a local
grocery store and picked up boxes for us to put all of the nonperishable food in. On April 9th, I
decorated all of the boxes and made them visible and more appealing, in hopes that more people
would donate, with a flyer that Brandon made placed on each of them. Brandon and I then... Show

So, when Brandon came to me with the idea of doing a donation drive, I thought it would be a
good way of helping women outside of volunteering at an organization. I wanted to do something
with a local group, and after seeing the Vagina Monologues this semester and hearing the
monologues about sexual assault and intimate partner violence, I thought that helping women who
have been victims of such violence would be very important work. I found the Bernard House,
which is very close to campus, and got in contact with them. This project has elicited a mix of
happiness and frustration. It made me really happy when people were receptive to what we
were trying to do. Having professors around campus be very supportive and encouraging when
we asked to place boxes in their buildings, as well as the student support we received as we
passed out flyers, explained the project, and asked for donations, was very rewarding. On
occasion, students would tell us how much they appreciated our project because it was for such a
good cause, and many students donated money, which I was not expecting because of the general
lack of cash that college students carry around with them. I feel very passionate about helping
these women, and I want this donation drive to be very helpful for the shelter. So, when people
showed the same passion for the cause, it was very driving and affirming. However, there were
times when

United States Supreme Court History
The history of the United States Supreme Court dates back to 1789 when George Washington
signed the Judiciary Act of 1789 that was passed by congress. This act established the United States
Supreme Court, the highest court in America and the Appellate court for civil cases and for cases
state ruled on federal statues. Sense the beginning of the United StatesSupreme Court there have
been many changes to their practices, but there are still a few that have stand the test of time.
Between the increase and decreasing of the number of Justices, and the few traditions that still
stand today, you can definitely say the United States Supreme Court has a fascinating history and
so very interesting facts. Justices are appointed by the President and serve for life or until they
choose to retire. In the case of a Chief Justice passing away or retiring, the President appoints a
new Chief Justice. When the Supreme Court was original made in 1790 there were originally six
Justice s, one Chief Justice and five Associate Justices. The number of Justices has change

  • 2. Electron Energy Levels Atomic Emission Spectra and Electron Energy Levels The electromagnetic spectrum is the entirety of the wavelengths of electromagnetic radiation, extending from high energy gamma rays to the low energy radio waves, and in the middle lies visible light. Visible light of course being the light that the human eye can see. When white lightis run through a prism, it becomes broken up into different light spectrums, but visible light can also be emitted from different elements such as when you burn them. By applying heat, the electrons of an element become excited and they rise to a higher energy orbital and when the electrons fall back into a ground state, electromagnetic radiation or light is emitted. These frequencies of light that can be emitted by an atomis called the atomic emission spectra. Atoms are the simplest whole unit of matter and consist of a positively charged nucleus that is surrounded by negatively charged electrons. The electrons of an... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Different wavelengths will be emitted as an electron returns to ground state based on its transition. The higher energy the electron falls from the higher energy the wavelength will be. This as stated is known as the atomic emission spectra, and each atomic emission spectra is unique to the specific element and acts as a sort of fingerprint. A spectrum categorizes wavelengths based upon the respective energy ;levels. The highest energy or shorter wavelengths are on the left while the right holds the lowest energy or longest wavelengths. Based on this, the energy difference of an electrons fall from excited to ground is what determines the wavelength of light. A fall from the outermost shell to the innermost would result in an emission of high energy wavelength such as gamma or uv rays, while a relatively low fall will result in low energy wavelengths such as radio waves. The emission spectra helps identify ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. How Philanthropy Is Overrated Philanthropy is almost the only virtue which is sufficiently appreciated by mankind. I can get behind this idea about how philanthropy is overrated. I m sure Thoreau is referring to extremely affluent people who give away portions of their hard earned cash simply because it makes them look like better people and they will be respected and glorified as charitable benefactors. In reality, this person has given hardly a fraction of their total worth and is unjustly honored by the monetary standards of those who aren t that rich. Thoreau also says, Nay, it is greatly overrated; and it is our selfishness which overrates it. The previous example is a prime case in which it is selfishness (of the benefactor) that overrates the philanthropy. Those ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Theory And General Strain Theory A theory is described, as an idea or set of ideas generally intended to explain, to prove facts or events. Theory can be an idea that is suggested or presented as possibly true, that is not an ideas that relates to a particular subject (Merriam Webster, 2015). Theory is an explanation of something. Theories in criminal behavior explains why an individual commits criminal and delinquent acts. This paper will compare and contrast two theories of crimeor criminal activities that was discuss in this course. The two theories identified are Strain theory and General strain theory. Strain theories are indicated when certain strains or stressors are increased, there is a probability for a person to commit a crime. According to Robert Merton, strain theory is a form of adaptive problem solving behavior that is committed in response to problems involving frustrating and undesirable social environments (Schmalleger, 2011). Strain results from an individual failure to achieve one s goals, such as money, status/respect, autonomy, loss of a positive (death of a friend or love one), and loss of value possession. Strain can be thought of as pressure that individuals feel to reach socially determined goals (Agnew, 2015). A person who experience these strains become upset, which they may turn to crime in an effort to cope. By doing so, crime may be an escape or reduction for them to escape this feeling. • 7. Single Methods That Enables Children To Read In Class It is the responsibility of teachers to identify and employ teaching methods that enables students to acquire ability to read in class. There is no single effective method that successfully works for all children because of various reason. I agree with the International Reading Association statement states that indeed, there is no single method or combination of different types of method that can teach all the children successfully how to read (International Reading Association, 1999). Psychologically, children are different, therefore, understand in a different manner (Richards Rodgers, 2014). For instance, some of the children are able to understand better when teachers employ example and drawings in class. Some have better listening ability while others understand better when they make notes. Based on this difference, it is difficult to establish a combination of methods or single methods that can effectively assist children how to read in class.... The first half of the book gives a thorough background on the people who spearheaded the efforts to enact censorship in Hollywood, especially focusing on MPPDA President William Hays and Joseph Breen. Leff and Simmons detail the pre code vulgarity and blatant sexuality in films and then recount the multitude of reactions of various stakeholders, including responses from the Catholic church, newspaper mogul Randolph Hearst, the Women s Christian Temperance Union (WCTU) and concerned public officials among many others. Ultimately, the book describes how Hays is able to ward off federal intervention and Breen is able to enforce censorship of the Hays Production Code in the film industry. • 9. Strengths And Weaknesses Of Fact School This is a number operation lesson for Kindergarten 2nd grade. This lesson might be used in conjunction with lessons involving fact families. The goal of the lesson is to help the students gain an understanding of fact families. The students will start with one number, 7, and find the different addition and subtraction fact families for each number. After the students have used the counters /cubes/buttons and the red strip and found the different facts of the first number, the students will count out 8 counters/cubes/buttons and find the next numbers in the fact families. Strengths Weaknesses: The activities in this lesson promote a deep understanding of fact families and the different properties of fact families involving addition and subtraction. A strength of this lesson, with it being the beginning of learning and using fact families, is the fact that the students are using manipulatives to visualize and see the similarities in fact families. The students are also recording their information and facts down as they manipulate the counters/cubes/buttons. This allows the students to visualize the fact families in all of the possible ways, while still getting the practice of writing out the information, since they will not always have the materials as supports. Students use of manipulatives and writing in conjunction allows the students to have maximum practice in learning number combinations. • 10. El Dorado In The Film The Invention Of Lying Virtues are the core characteristics valued by moral philosophers and religious thinkers: wisdom, courage, humanity, justice, temperance, and transcendence. (Peterson 13) An exaggerated example demonstrating virtue would be a nun who has never lied, cheated, or stolen at any point in her life. El Dorado is a Utopian society with no crime or need for government outside of a king, although the king simply acts like everyone else s equal. The concepts of El Dorado and virtue practically go hand in hand. El Dorado not only suggests the idea that humans are capable of virtue, but thrives on the idea. In order for El Dorado to not have a government besides a leader, the citizens would have to trust that everyone in the city will remain virtuous. In order for someone to imagine anything close to that of El Dorado, one would have to imagine a world such as that in the movie The Invention of Lying . Everyone just tells the truth no matter how stupid or scary it may seem, and everyone trusts that the other person is doing the same. (Huggo) A majority of people anymore would consider it a very scary thought to have to trust that everyone will just do the right thing. People s distrust in others could be a result of many factors, the more prominent constants being that too many people prove to each other that they are dishonest and disloyal, two characteristics ... The era of Pervez Musharraf is referred as the golden eight years. It is, probably the longest single statement of feats of developments, repairs and enhancements in one of the most difficult countries to govern as described in Times Magazine. • 12. Vertical Integration Of Film Industry When we think of the film industry in Hollywood, we often picture it in our mind as an ideal industry full of fame and money. What makes the production process of films in Hollywood so successful? The answer is the studio system. According to Hollywoodlexicon.com, the studio system is a business model adopted by five major Hollywood studios Paramount Pictures, Metro Goldwyn Mayer, Warner Brothers Pictures, 20th Century Fox and RKO that combined all facets of filmproduction with studio owned distribution chains. In fact, The Big Five Studios possessed 17% of the theaters that owned 45% of domestic film rentals by 1945. The term vertical integration refers to the structure of a marketplace that is integrated (rather than segregated) at a variety of crucial levels; in the case of the motion picture industry, the studio system established a market in which the studios are owners of their production facilities, distribution outlets, and theaters (Belton 68). Since the studios could control the entire process of production, distribution/booking and exhibition, they could be recognized as a monopoly. The studios even owned their actors, directors, producers, cinematographers, screenwriters, art directors, and other staff by keeping them all under a contract. The formation of vertical integration first started in the 1910s, when independent exhibitors and independent distributors were denied motion pictures by the trust. Independent exhibitors had to pay fees to the trust if they wanted to use its theaters and many refused the idea of paying those fees while independent distributors disliked the idea of the trust s control on the supply of films. These problems resulted in the merging of distribution companies and production companies as they sought to get into production. The mergers bought theater chains and exhibitors contributed their distribution and production to the merger s business model. An example is the establishment of Metro Goldwyn Mayer, which was merged from Metro Pictures, Louis B. Mayer Picture Corp, and Goldwyn Pictures in 1924. The formation of Metro Goldwyn Mayer was made possible by Marcus Loew, who owned a chain of theaters and bought the individual companies Metro Pictures, Goldwyn Pictures, and Louis B. Mayer Picture Corp. in order to get into production and distribution. This merge gave Metro Goldwyn Mayer the ability to optimize the distribution, production and exhibition processes of a movie. The absence of an alleged increase in academic achievement in charter schools compared to public schools is further supported by a study on the results of the 2003 National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) mathematics exam in the U.S. The study compared the math scores of 190,000 fourth graders and 153,000 eight graders students from 13,577 public, private and charter schools (Lubienski Lubienski, 2006). • 28. Disadvantages Of Situational Syllabus 1. INTRODUCTION A syllabus can be defined as the specification of aims and the selection and grading of content to be used as a basis for planning foreign language (Newby, 2000, p.590). Therefore, an annual syllabus is considered to be the document which compiles all the information necessary to carry out the important task of teaching. There are different kinds of syllabus and in this aspect it would be a mistake not to mention the pioneering work of Wilkins (1976). This author distinguishes between situational syllabuses and notional syllabuses. The first one appears in a reaction against grammatical syllabuses which did not take learners situational needs into account (Wilkins, 1976, p.16). As Wilkins (1976, p.16) points out, we need the languageso that we can use it in the situations that we encounter . Therefore, situational syllabuses compile a series of learning units with a wide diversity of situations in which learners learn to use the language. On the contrary, notional syllabuses take the desired communicative capacity as the starting point (Wilkins, 1976, p.18). According to this scholar, the advantage of the notional syllabus is that it does not only take into account grammatical and situational factors but also the communicative ones (Wilkins, 1976, p.19). Concerning the role of the phenomenal qualities for seeing particularly the following two questions are of importance: (1) The first question is dealing with the causal or functional role of phenomenal qualities: Under the assumption that seeing is based on cortical information processing, the question arises, whether the phenomenal qualities of visual perceptions have a function with regard to this processing, in the sense that the intentional content of visual perceptions depends not only on their intentional, but also on their phenomenal qualities. Is it true, as among other authors Frank Jackson and Steven Pinker claim, that phenomenal qualities are only epiphenomena, not having any function for information processing? (1) (2) The second question concerns the status of phenomenal qualities: Are the phenomenal qualities of visual perceptions non intentional qualities, or do they belong to a certain type of intentional qualities? In other words, are phenomenal and intentional contents essentially different, or are the so called phenomenal contents of visual perceptions really part of their intentional contents? In order to come to a decision concerning these two questions, several authors, among them Peter Carruthers, Daniel Dennett, Colin McGinn, Nicholas Humphrey and Robert VanGulick, refer to an empirical phenomenon called blindsight . • 32. Analysis Of Albert Camus The Plague Essay The evil in this world comes almost always from ignorance. Goodwill can cause as much harm as ill will, if it lacks understanding. Wrote Albert Camus in the plague. Today, more than ever, this quote is relevant in the context of Afghanistan, a country in the crossroads between South and Central Asia, country mired in conflict of varying intensity since 1979. In the history of Afghanistan, a state, in order to be deemed as legitimate, had to satisfy three preconditions. Firstly, it had to be a broker between clans, tribes and ethnic groups. Secondly it had to deliver basic security and ensure secure access to public services and infrastructure. Lastly, it had to embody the concept of Afganistan as an independent Islamic territory . The West caricatures Afghans as hirsute warriors, wild eyed extremists, women confined to the margins of society. But it has little relation to how the Afghans see themselves. Integral to Afghan value is Islam. Almost all Afghans are muslims and some 80 per cent of them belong to the Hanafi madhab, the most liberal school of sunni Islam . Of the rest, most are Shia. Although most Afghans are devoutly religious, they see religion as essentially a private affair, ideally conducted within a community of fellow believer but not something dictated by state. Key to understanding the Afghan concept of identity is that it formed in relation to others: to the family, to community, to tribe or ethnic group. A person s sense of self and place in the ... Nestled in between the copiousness of talent you will find three offerings from a prominent living contemporary artist called Jasper Johnstitled Alphabet (1959), Figure 4 (1959), and Target (1961). Although at times his work faced rejection from the critics of individualism of abstract expressionists his life s journey sculptured his path to who he is as a person and who he has become as a modern day renowned contemporary artist. In 1958, gallery owner Leo Castelli discovered Johns while visiting the Rauschenberg s studio. This was an important time in Johns art career as his style had started to settle more into contemporary art due to his personal relationship with Robert Rauschenberg. According to The Society for Contemporary Art Castelli gave him his first solo show. For example, selenium increases plant resilience within harsh climates. Plant morphology and growth is especially important for crops that are in high demand such as winter wheat grain which has one of the highest worldwide production rates. The effect of the abundance of nutrients on plantmorphology is further investigated in this study. This study entails winter wheatseeds being placed in treatments of different concentrations of nutrients and observed and measured after two weeks have passed. By keeping the environment constant, the effect of each treatment was measured exclusively. The plants in the treatment without nutrients were noticeable shorter than those in the treatments which contained nutrients. The results found suggest that the concentration of nutrients is not as important so long as nutrients are included in the treatment. Nutrients are an essential resource needed for plants to grow and replenish. They can be divided into two main subgroups macronutrients and micronutrients. Most nutrients are absorbed through the root hairs and can be used to repair tissues as well as run important processes such as photosynthesis (Rush et al. 2016).
