Drug Education is More Beneficial than Drug Legalization...
Drug Education is More Beneficial than Drug Legalization
There are great numbers of people in Australia who believe that legalizing hard drugs, such as
heroin, speed, cocaine etc, would improve the drug problem. This may be a true statement, however
such legalization is yet to be proven, and can cause some severe consequences, which outweigh the
possible benefits. Such consequences include an increase in uncontrolled use and thus increases in
overdosing and intravenous (I.V.) transmitted diseases.
For several decades drugs have been one of the major problems of society. There have been
escalating costs spent on the war against drugs and countless dollars spent on rehabilitation, but the
problem still exists. Not only has the drug ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Drugs should remain illegal in Australia because there would be an increase of drug abuse and a
rapid increase of diseases such as AIDS.
The belief that legalizing drugs would lessen crime exists in many communities. They point out
that the legalization of drugs would deter future criminal acts and they emphasize prohibition.
When the public realized that Prohibition could not be enforced the law was removed. This is
true of alcohol, however drugs should not be legalized because there would be an increase in
drug abuse due to its availability, of which there was little before. Once legalized, drugs would
become cheaper and more accessible to people who previously had not tried drugs, because of the
high price or the legal risk. Addicts who tend to stop, not by choice, but because the drugs aren t
accessible would now feed the addiction if drugs were made legal. These drug addicts would not
be forced to kick the habit due to the availability of the drug they would partake eagerly. The
temptation to use drugs would increase when news reports of cocaine, heroin and speed s
legalization are shown on television and in newspapers. Instead of money used by employed
addicts, you will see welfare funds used to purchase drugs. If welfare funds were to be misused, a
major problem in the economy could occur.
Health officials have shown that the legalization of drugs would cause a rapid

Don John s Tragic Flaws
The definition of a tragic flaw is, a personality trait that ultimately leads to a character s own
downfall. Much Ado About Nothing clearly displays to the reader that Don John s actions coming
from his tragic flaws negatively affect him along with others around him. He is extremely jealous
of the success in Don Pedro and Claudio s lives, and is attempting to ruin Claudio and Hero s
happiness in their upcoming marriage. In the book, Much Ado About Nothingby William
Shakespeare, Don John appears to be the characterwho is the most tragically flawed by being
jealous and deceiving.

Life Changing Decisions And Now After 26 Years Of Military...
Just like any young teenager nearing high school graduation, I faced multiple life changing
decisions and now after 26 years of military service, I still believe that I made the right decision.
At the time of graduation, I did not envision college in my future. I was not fond of school and
was looking to gain experience in life when it happened; I met a U.S. Army recruiter who
communicated too me, you could do just that in the Army. I was not a stellar performer in
school, but neither had I failed any classes, I merely wanted something different. After a lengthy
discussion with my parents, we arranged an appointment where we could all set down with the
recruiter who probably already knew that it was my parents that he would have to convince, as I
was already sold. After several hours of open ended fact finding questions from the recruiter, my
parents could see that this was the road that I would be taking, and reluctantly signed the contract
for their 17 year old son to join the U.S. Army. After taking the entry exam and passing my
physical, I was ready to choose a career field and complete my initial contract. I still remember my
counselor telling me The Sky is the Limit as I signed up to be a United States ArmyParatrooper and
Field Artilleryman. Needless to say, my mother was not pleased at the time however, I bet if you
were to ask her how she feels after 26 years, she would have a very different answer. After a few
short years of learning every aspect of my

Cholesterol Essay
Cholesterol is an essential molecule for animal life. It is an integral component of the plasma
membrane of animal cells, it is a precursor of steroid hormones and bile acids, and it plays a
crucial role in the formation of the myelin sheath that surrounds axons. Cholesterol and other
insoluble lipids are transported through the bloodstream in lipoprotein particles. Lipoproteins are a
family of globular particles comprised of a core of neutral lipids surrounded by cholesterol,
phospholipids, and apoproteins. Low density lipoprotein (LDL) and high density lipoprotein
(HDL) are the two primary carriers of cholesterol in the blood. The primary function of LDL is to
deliver cholesterol to cells throughout the body, where it is removed from... Show more content on

From an early age, these individuals are at high risk for atherosclerosis and heart disease.
Heterozygous FH individuals are also at risk for these diseases, albeit to a much lesser degree.
Because the FH mutation also caused the disease in heterozygous individuals, Goldstein and Brown
began with the assumption that FH was the result of a defect in regulation of cholesterol synthesis.
Discovery of the LDL Receptor
Goldstein and Brown began their work by measuring the activity of 3 hydroxy 3 methylglutaryl
coenzyme A reductase (HMG CoA reductase), which catalyzes the rate limiting step in cholesterol
production. Goldstein and Brown found that when normal fibroblasts were grown in serum, HMG
CoA reductase activity was low. Additionally, they found that when cholesterol carrying
lipoproteins was removed from the culture medium, HMG CoA reductase activity increased by a
large margin. Furthermore, they observed that HMG CoA reductase activity was suppressed when
LDL was reintroduced to the medium. This inhibition of HMG CoA reductase by LDL, and the
fact that low concentrations of LDL suppressed HMG CoA reductase activity, led Goldstein and
Brown to believe that a receptor with high affinity for LDL was involved in the inhibition of
cholesterol synthesis.
When Goldstein and Brown measured HMG CoA reductase activity in FH homozygous fibroblasts
grown in normal serum, they came to the conclusion that HMG CoA reductase activity was not
affected by the presence of LDL in

Accountability On The Fire Ground
Christopher McCoy SCC Fire academy Benji Johnson 6 24 17 Accountability on the Fire Ground
An essential component of the fire ground is accountability. When an accountability system is
established and implemented, a safely ran and efficient ground operation can occur. Fire
departments that establish and implement accountability systems are serious about maintaining the
integrity about their company and preventing any freelancing that may occur on the fire ground.
The Personal Accountability System (PAS) primary reason is to keep track of the fire an

Everyone understands that the fire ground is a fast moving, dynamic, and many times a chaotic
environment in the best of situations. However, consider how much more complicated that
environment becomes when the IC hears the word Mayday on the radio or suddenly realizes that
an individual or an entire crew has not been seen or heard from and he has no idea of where to
start looking.
One of the main goals of the incident command system (ICS) is to manage resources on the fire
grounds. The Incident Command System has a built in accountability system. Proper management
of fire ground operations is necessary to achieve and maintain accountability. Accountability
through incident command is possible only if it is established from the very beginning of the
incident with the arrival of the first unit, officer, or member who establishes command and begins
to assign and track incoming resources. Resources that self deploy on the fire ground without the
establishment and direction of an overall IC are not operating within incident command, a single
incident action plan (IAP), or an accountability system. Any organization that waits for a later
arriving officer to show up, establish command, and then attempt to locate and track multiple self
deployed resources from scratch is setting that officer and the organization up for failure and,
ultimately, a tragic disaster. Accountability through

Why Did Paul Wrote The Book Of Colossians
The Apostle Paul wrote the book of Colossians to the church in Colossae. It was thought that Paul
completed this epistle from Rome while he was arrested, between A.D. 60 and 62, unable to travel
to Colossae to help them.1 Paul wrote Colossians primarily to respond to a particular problem. The
main concerns involved in Paul s epistlewere the misconstrued doctrine of Christ, and the
misinterpretation of how this doctrine affected and influenced being a follower of Christ.
During the time of this letter, false teachers infiltrated the city of Colossae, spreading doctrine that
provided improper interpretation and emphasis regarding the work of Christ.2 They were changing,
diminishing, and complicating the doctrine of Christ. Paul s efforts

Hans Rosling s TED talk New Insights On Poverty Around the world had a chart that showed the
means and goals for development. The Australians at the time during the film had the means of
culture and education, which are not particularly important means compared to the others on the
chart. However, in the long term goals culture is the most important on this list other than human
rights. My thinking is that the Australians were trying to preserve their dominate culture, and they
thought that the half cast aboriginals were putting the dominate culture in jeopardy. As a mean to
change the culture change the Australians use education to asslimate the half cast children. The
Moore River camp is where some of the half cast children were taken in order to be educated in
the ways of the dominate culture, so that when the children of the camp have their own children
they will be raised as the dominate culture. The film supports Hans Rosling s chart in showing that

Stimulating Patriotism and Promoting Economic Prosperity...
World War II was of great importance to the United States of America. Women also had an
important role in this war. The war effort stimulated patriotism and promoted economic prosperity.
American industry quickly transformed to war production in order to contribute to the nation s
military necessities. When the men left to fight in war, women were left with the men s duties back
on the home front. During World War II, approximately 350,000 women served in the U.S. on the
home front and overseas. The working industry instituted a campaign urging women to do their part
to meet wartime manufacturing quotas. It wasn t common for women at this time to work outside
the home, but this war needed every helping hand possible, womanor man. World War II brought
about the new trend of women earning their own money for themselves instead of always having
to rely on their husband s money. This gave a sense of independence to women of this era.
Besides working on the home front, some women also volunteered for war service and join a
various amount of women s branches in the armed forces; such as the Women s Army Auxiliary
Corps, which eventually became the Women s Army Corp (WAC). The Women s Army Corps
was the first time women were given a full military rank. Women pilots also came about, these
women were in an organization called Women s Air Force Service Pilots (WASP). The WASP
was not easy to be accepted into and only a limited number of women who applied were accepted.

this atrocious time still taints Cambodia today. This tragedy has and will forever change Cambodia.
From April 17, 1975 Until January 1979 Pol Pot forced the citizens of Cambodia to live in harsh
labor camps and work 14 to 18 hour days. Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge s plan was to liberate their
citizens. They told citizens that America was going to bomb the cities. They forced millions of
people out of their homes and they were separated so they couldn t stand up and win back their
rights (DePaul and Kiernan). They didn t like anyone that tried to come between them and their

athletes. When in reality, the utmost idle individual can become an exceptional athlete with the
aid of hard work, dedication, and practice. The changes don t all have to happen at once. Small
scale steps could be taken to become a star athlete. For example, becoming a star soccer player
could begin with simply practicing ball control. That being forenamed, an average teenager can
become their schools most powerful, sturdy forward on the varsity soccer team by practicing
ball control as their first step. To start off, the individual must gather the needed materials. In this
case, the materials are a soccer ball, a pair of tennis shoes or soccer cleats, a field or yard that has
plenty of open area, and lastly, a rope ladder. Once all of those items are collected, the practicing
can begin. The player must start by training their footwork. This can be done by doing ladder
drills, also known as hurdle drills. Even though these drills are not using a ball, they are still a

Informative Speech On Honeybees
As a child I enjoyed venturing and playing tag in the woods until I was stung on the neck by a
bee. I would continue being in the woods but grew wary of bees and happened to develop a small
phobia of them. Today I will be informing you all about bees, their roles in nature and differences
between them and wasps.
What are honeybees? Honeybees are social hairy creatures that are a member of the apidae family
and are oval shaped. They measure around 15 mm in length and the majority of their bodies is
black with yellow or brown stripes. The bright stripes serve as a warning to their predators that
indicates that they can sting. Living in hollowed out trees or sometimes a wall of a house, they
construct hives which store honey. The male

Polyphenylene Vinylene Lab Report
PPV, otherwise known as polyphenylene vinylene are electric conductors that processed into tiny
films which emit a bright fluorescent yellow light which could potentially be a replacement for
LEDS in electronics. PPV is prepared from p xylene bis and the addition of acetonitrile
tetrabutylammonium tetrafluoroborate and from there, the product is treated with heat to eliminate
diethyl sulfide, HCL, and ethyl sulfide to form the final product, PPV. Similarly, another method,
called direct chemical polymerization, formed PPV but it was only in the form of powder which
could not be turned into tiny films for commercial use. In lab, we learned that PPV precursor can
be synthesized in a one step reaction from p xylene using NBs. In the reaction with... Show more

The process can be done with NBs, FeCl3, and Cl2. NBs would add the Br to the benzylic
carbons while FeCl3 and Cl2 is a friedel crafts alkylation and the Cls are added to the compound
ortho directing since it can not attack para because there is already a molecule there. PPV can
emit light because of its molecular diagram. To illustrate, the cathode and anode, 1,3 butadiene and
1,3,5 hexatriene s molecular orbital diagram are shown below. These diagrams show that the gap
between the homo and lumo for 1,3,5 hexatriene is small which means the energy that is emitted
would be lower than 1,3 butadiene but the wavelength for 1,3,5 hexatriene is higher. At higher
wavelengths, there is less energy which is directly related to if PPV has electron withdrawing or
donating groups. For example, BEH PPV, which emits orange red light, has two OR groups (which
is an electron donating group) attached to it thus creating lower energy and higher wavelength
values. On the other hand, BuEH PPV , a compound that emits a yellow green light, has two carbon
chains attached to it, which although is still an electron donating group, is much weaker than OR
so the wavelength value is less than BEH PPV, so the energy must be higher. To further increase
energy, it is necessary to give PPV more electron withdrawing groups, such as a halogen. Halogens
are useful in this reaction because although they are electron withdrawing groups, they still attack
ortho/para which allows the electron withdrawing groups to enter in a spot with the least

Heroic Spirits Essay
Servants are Heroic Spirits made into special familiars of the highest rank that are bound to the
Master. Pure Heroic Spirits, the main body in the Throne of Heroes, can only be summoned by the
World, and summoning even one is considered to be a miraculous occurrence. Differing from the
normal definition of familiars that can be likened to minor mascots unable to be stronger than their
masters, Heroic Spirits are the most powerful of beings with which even the five magicians would
never be able forge a contact. Rather than it being a hard process to summon them or the fact that
they far surpass magi, it is their intrinsic nature in that they are beings beyond magecraft. Magi can

Nursing leadership and responsiveness is demonstrated when opportunities for the development of

Essay On Symbolism Of Civilization In Lord Of The Flies
Anarchy fallen over the once peaceful land and all but one has returned to their savage ways. In
William Golding s, Lord Of The Flies, The character of Piggy is a symbol of civilization. To
commence, Piggy symbolises civilization because of his glasses as the fire is started by thm, and
fire is the first sign key to civilization. Secondly, by insisting the continuation of the rules to be
enforced on all of the island, Piggy demonstrates the ideals of civilization. Finally, Piggy
idealises civilization by wanting to advance in technology on the island. In William Golding s,
Lord of The Flies, Piggy symbolises civilization on the island, while others turn to primitive,
savage ways. First and foremost, Piggy s glasses are used to start a fire which shows a sign of
civility as fire is the starting point to civilization, with it being the way the boys will return
home. During the first meeting, Ralph addresses the group to say that a fire is needed to go in
order to attract attention to the island for a passing boat. The boys then, unsure how to start a
fire, Ralph moved the lenses back and forth, this way and that, till a glossy white image of the
declining sun lay on a piece of rotten wood. Almost at once a thin trickle of smoke rose up and
made him cough (Golding 56). This shows that because of Piggy being hard of sight, the boys
were able to start a fire and have the ability to return to civilization. Furthermore, due to Piggy s
glasses creating the fire, the boys can now

Money and outlook Overall, job opportunities for registered nurses are expected to be good.
However, the supply of new nurses entering the labor market has increased in recent years. This
increase has resulted in competition for jobs in some areas of the country. Generally, registered
nurses with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing (BSN) will have better job prospects than
those without one. Employers also may prefer candidates who have some related work
experience . The median annual wage for registered nurses was $67,490 in May 2015. The
median wage is the wage at which half the workers in an occupation earned more than that
amount and half earned less. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $46,360, and the highest 10
percent earned more than $101,630 . (www.bls.gov). There are a lot of people trying to become a
registered nurse but, just becoming a registered nurse won t get you as much money as getting
your BMS and working with the government. A registered nurse can get up to $101,630 a year
depending on how far you got into your education. For example getting your BMS can help a lot.

Myths And Misconceptions Of Serial Killers
The term serial killers has never really been defined until roughly 1998 when congress passes a
Children Protection act from Sexual Predator Act of 1998. This Act defined serial killers as a
series of at least three or more killings. However because of the definition of serial killers, they
often get confused between serial killers and a spree murder. The Difference is that spree
murderers often get killed or seriously killed, however spree murderers have also killed
themselves. Although serial killers are extremely rare event that is estimated to constitute for less
than 1% of all murders committed. Serial killers mostly kill over a time period killing more than

The Renaissance was a rebirth of cultural awareness and learning that took place during 1400
1500. Art became a branch of learning during the Renaissance. It was a period of time when art
was very important. Artists had finally recaptured the amazing detail and realism that the Greeks
and Romans perfected. Artists broke boundaries with new exciting mediums and bright colors.
Filippo Brunelleschi permitted artists to decide the proportional size of a figure by inventing the
vanishing point perspective. This made it possible to put everything into perfect proportion. Many
elderly people are found in the paintings. Such as Man in a Red Turban on page 270 fig. 15.34 or
online at http://www.abcgallery.com/E/eyck/eyck3.html.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The rebirth of art in Italy was associated with the rediscovery of ancient philosophy, literature, and
science and the growth of practical methods of study in these fields. Therefore material subject
matter became increasingly important to artists. With the revived interest in antiquity came a new
collection of subjects drawn from Greek and Roman history and mythology. Like the Maesta shown
on page 232 14.9 or online at http://keptar.demasz.hu/arthp/html/g/giotto/maesta.htm.
The types provided by ancient buildings and works of art also encouraged the development of new
artistic techniques and the need to re create the forms and styles of classical art. Such as the
Branacci Chapel on page 249 fig 15.12 or online at http://www.wga.hu/tours/brancacc/index.html.
Crucial to the development of Renaissance art was the emergence of the artist as a creator, sought
after and respected for his intellect and imagination. Art became respected as a means for religious
and social teaching, and a form of personal, visual expression.
Although the progression of Italian Renaissance art was a continuous process, it wass usually
divided into three major phases: Early, High, and Late Renaissance. The last phase has been the
subject of complicated interpretations that recognize many opposing and comparing trends. Some

There are three external environment components which may impact on restaurant, demographic,

Demographic Environment
The purpose of the scanning the social, demographic and culture is to determine the significance of
population changes on the nature of population and customer purchase behaviour. (Reed 2007)
Obviously, population change brings huge impact to product lines and service model. Currently,
more and more new residential immigrate to Australia and Box Hill is traditional Asia area. That is
meaning the customer needs are more various and restaurant should modified the manual to fit
various taste and religion. As we all know, Subway is traditional western fast foodprovider. The
food is developed more suit western taste. My survey tested the eighty customers attitude at the
Box Hill Centro, the samples are random picked, which classified two groups, local peoples and

Cool Hand Luke Movie Analysis
The film Cool Hand Luke Directed by Stuart Rosenberg was released in 1967. It was about how
Luke goes through his time in prison. The other film that relates to this film is One Flew Over the
Cuckoo s Nest directed by MiloЕЎ Forman was released in 1975. It was about how Randle was
put in a psych ward because everyone thinks he s crazy but helps the other patients and like
Luke, Randle both films had Propp s theory on narrative structure where there are the traditional
seven characters and the main characters were heroes but they don t seem like heroes. They use

Thank Bob Dylan With The Nobel Prize
December 20, 2016
Dear Nobel Prize committee,
The Nobel Prize for Literature is an outstanding prize that honors extraordinary people for their
works in literature. It honors people that have changed literature. On October 13, 2016 you
awarded Bob Dylan with the Nobel Prize in Literature. This marks him as the first musician ever to
win this prize. Many people agree with your decision, while others are not delighted with this fact. I
agree with the committee to honoring Bob Dylan with the Nobel Prize in literature for having
created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition.
Bob Dylan was born as Robert Allen Zimmerman on May 24, 1941 in Duluth, Minnesota. While
growing up, Bob was influenced by Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Little Richard. He was
also in a few bands while growing up. While he was in college he began performing folk and
country music at local cafes under the name Bob Dillon. In 1960, he dropped out of college and
moved to New York. In New York, Bob met his idol Woody Guthrie and visited him regularly
and became great friends with him. In 1961, he signed his first recording contract at Columbia
Records and became one of the most original influential voices in the history of American
popular music. Throughout his lifetime he s been awarded with Grammy s, Academy and
Golden Globe awards. In 2012, he received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from President
Barack Obama. Bob Dylan wrote music based on social issues, war and civil

The Basic Principles Of Tai Chi
Introduction Tai Chi, also known as Tai Chi Quan, is a form of ancient Chinese martial art with
slow and graceful movements which is practiced for self defence and mind body relaxation
exercise (Perry, 1982). The fundamental principles of Tai Chi can be traced back thousands of
years to ancient Chinese health exercise (originally formulated in the 13th century during the
Song Dynasty by Chan Shan fung) to its predecessor, Qi gong, and to the classical yoga in India.
Each exercise has its own distinctive features, some with specific techniques beyond the ken of
Tai Chi (Koh, 1981). However, the basic principles are the same. They emphasize the power of the
mind and the importance of cultivating energy and evoking spirituality (Koh, 1981). It is very
different to what the Western world thinks of martial arts which is often inevitably linked with the
actions of kicking, punching and fighting. Tai Chi is all about the rhythmic, meditative movements
designed to help a person find peace and calmness within the inner self. Research Objectives This
ethnographic research aims to explore the perception and understanding of health and illness
amongst people who practice Tai Chi and the beliefs underlying individuals decisions to carry out
the practice. I am also interested to find out what practices do this group of people have that they
think will maintain their health, and why do they think they will be effective. Since it is at the level
of beliefs that we obtain substantive

Although Jeanette s father was an alcoholic, he could get work almost anywhere, often in small

Measures
We will find our baseline measurement using nurse surveys, audits and observation timings. We
will track what steps are covered and how long each step takes and the number of occurrences of
near misses due to inefficient handoffs relating to patient safety. We will also measure our patient
baseline data from current patient satisfaction surveys N. Guyse (personal communication,
February 22, 2014). Currently we are inefficient and unsafe with handoff practices due to missing or
incomplete information, multiple processes used between the nursing staff, and multiple report out
processes being practiced on the floor. Multiple processes are causing confusion and incidental
overtime. With multiple processes, information is being missed between nursing staff, which is a
safety concern due to the increased errors. Our organization is working on the creation of one
standardized process used between all employees to ensure that all handoffs are efficient and safe.
We have implemented a group report out for nursing staff in conjunction with the beside report outs
N. Guyse (personal communication, February 22, 2014).
Sample measures through patient and nurse satisfaction surveys and observations will be used to
show if we are making improvements with the change. Run charts will be used to show if
improvements are taking place over time and will help with improvements by depicting how well
the handoff process is performing. They will help in determining when changes are

Analysis Of Seven Staircases Of Growth Strategies
Analysis of Seven Staircases to Growth
The distinctive seven staircases of growth strategies have been adopted by many successful
companies, such as Walt Disney, Gillette, Johnson Johnson, Home Depot, and many more. While
one single strategy may not yield a significant growth effect, implementing them concurrently and
consecutively can provide a powerful roadmap for near term and long term growth (Baghai, Coley,
White, 1996). Below is an analysis of Raytheon s seven staircases to continuous growth.
1.Maximizing existing customers:
Raytheon s primary customers are defense, other government, as well as commercial customers in
both domestic and international markets. The principal U.S. government customer includes the

This is how the customer validates the bidders qualifications, and at the same time it s a mean for
the contractors to influence the customer s award decision. In addition, product demonstration,
white papers, and various marketing activities are used as ways to attract new customers.
3.Innovation of products and services
Innovation is an important factor to enhance and differentiate Raytheon s offerings from those of
the competitors. The company s success depends on its ability to develop new and innovative
products and technologies in responding to the customer s critical needs. Brown (1991) pointed out
that Innovation can be a powerful method of securing a sustainable competitive advantage in both
growing and mature markets (p. 196). Although technological innovation is the most recognizable
type, it s worth noting that innovation can come from anywhere and anyone in the organization.
For Raytheon, there s an innovation center at every major Raytheon s sites to encourage new and
innovative ideas from any employees, any functions, or grade levels.
4.Innovation of the value delivery system
Generally, the delivery system for government contracts is regulated by the Federal Acquisition
Regulations (FAR), which sets forth policies, procedures and requirements for the acquisition of
goods and services by the U.S. government. During the bidding process, innovation of the value
delivery system is difficult to achieve as the defense contract

The K2 Tape formulation delivered a higher level of performance versus standard hot melt/BOPP

provided more durability, holding force, and higher heat/cold resistance than BOPP film and was
suited for more challenging sealing applications. The K2 Tape product value proposition focused on
the lowest overall cost to the end user through superior performance. In house testing provided
extensive comparative data illustrating K2 Tape s exceptional performance under wide ranging
conditions.
There were many competitive tape products in the market. Carton sealing tape was available in a

advanced adhesive technology, but often competed against inferior, economy grade products like
those produced by Ipack. Ipack tapes were lower quality, BOPP backed products that lacked

Clyne s Revision of Grice s Maxims Essay
Grice s Maxims have been criticised for being too Anglo centric. Michael Clyne proposes
revisions to the four maxims in his 1994 book Intercultural Communication at Work. Do Clyne s
revisions of this model go far enough in universally accounting for intercultural conversation?
Why or why not? Grice s General Cooperative Principle has been under continuous debate for the
past three decades. It is mainly through the maxims that Grice s paradigm has been challenged as
highly ethnocentric, however such readings may tend to take the maxims too literally rather than
as reference points for language interchange (Allan as cited in Clyne, 1994, p. 11). There is some
agreement in this, but as suggested by Mey (1994, p. 74), the principle and... Show more content on

In such cases, there is a clash between Grice s maxims and the pragmatic rules of conversation,
which are culturally sensitive. For example, when being offered a drink, a typical Chinese
person would automatically say no the first time, while expecting the offer to be made at least
two or three times more. This resembles a kind of phatic language communication; saying no,
but not really meaning no. In this sort of situation, if someone doesn t adhere to the cultural
norm choosing to follow Grice s maxims instead, then they would sound odd and out of place.
The above example demonstrates that Grice s maxims aren t relevant in all contexts as they
clash with certain cultural values systems. Many linguists (Clyne, 1994; Hymes, 1986; Loveday,
1983; Walsh, 2009) have picked up on this discrepancy between theory and data, claiming that the
maxims are only relevant to the English speaking Western world. In particular, Clyne (1994) has
pointed out that they have limited relevance to cultures where content and knowledge are core
values. For example, speakers of Malagasy, whose form of co operation seems to consist in
making their contributions as opaque, convoluted and non perspicuous as possible (Keenan as
cited in Mey, 1994, p. 74) could be seen as flouting the Maxim of Quantity. This is because
information, especially new information gives the holder a certain amount of prestige, thus
Malagasy people tend to

Girls Bodies Girls Bodies Analysis
Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. At least, that s what is taught to believe at an early age.
Elline Lipkin, however, holds fast to the understanding that as true as that saying may be, there
are outside forces that are intent on readjusting our vision to true beauty : the kind that can be
bought off the shelves. In her article, Girls Bodies, Girls Selves: Body Image, Identity, and
Sexuality , Lipkin employs several different external resources to help demonstrate her belief that
young girls ( Before they even abandon their teddy bears... (Para 2)) definition of their own
appearance is polluted and distorted by the vastly massive world that is the American media.

Improving Communication Over Shift Change And Improve...
Planned Change Change is a constant in health care. Leader managers must understand the
complexities of change. Marquis and Huston point out that there must be a good reason to
implement change (2015). The purpose of this paper is to illustrate how to implement planned
change to improve communication over shift change and improve communication with families
within the emergency room. Additionally, the people necessary for this change, along with the
necessary steps will be outlined. Problem A problem has been identified in our emergency room
that important information is not transferring from one shift to the next. This is not a unique to
problem to our facility alone. Additionally, patients and families do not understand what is
happening during their visit to the emergency room. In 2015, the Joint Commission set a national
safety goal to improve the effectiveness of caregivers communication. Change The specific change
being proposed is to institute bedside report. Bedside report would improve communication among
caregivers and increase patients and families understanding of their visit. During the bedside report,
the off going nurse and the oncoming nurse would double check intravenous fluids, intravenous
sites, and the presence of safety equipment and alarms. Bedside report and the two person safety
check is essential for patient safety. Bedside report allows for a visual inspection of the patient
which increases accountability, decreases potential

There are some interest groups that are extremely powerful and exercise considerable influence
over the formation of public policy, whereas others are ineffectual and weak. (101). There are
various factors that make a group more powerful than the other. Financial resources determines
the group s power. Organizations representing large co operations are at a much better position
to raise funds. It is unfair for regular citizens because they would not be heard because of less
collective power and less money for campaign contributions. Citizens need to be heard too,
regardless of their financial capabilities. Powerful interest groups do not make it possible for the
citizens voices to be heard. The same applies to the groups that represent low income people, they
have it difficult raising the money required for lobbying. Overally, lobbying and interest groups are
in the best interest of democracy. A recent study by lawmakers of Wisconsin, found that lobbying

Soul and Reincarnation
Misty Yarbrough My life often seemed to me like a story that has no beginning and no end. I had
the feeling that I was an historical fragment, an excerpt for which the preceding and succeeding
text was missing. I could well imagine that I might have lived in former centuries and there
encountered questions I was not yet able to answer; that I had been born again because I had not
fulfilled the task given to me. В—Carl Jung. Reincarnation is the belief that when one dies, one s
body decomposes, but one is reborn in another body. It is the belief that one has lived before and
will live again in another body after death. Carl Jung is one of the thousands of people that believe
reincarnation is possible. However, the bodies one passes in... Show more content on

The Greek writer Diordus Siculus (c. 60 BC 30 AD) noted that the Druids believed the souls of
men are immortal, and that after a definite number of years they live a second life when the soul
passes to another body. The Greek philosopher Strabo (c. 63 BC 21 AD) observed the Druids
believed that men s souls and the universe are indestructible, although at times fire and water may
prevail. Even Julius Caesar wrote of the Celts They wish to inculcate this as one of their leading
tenets, that souls do not become extinct, but pass after death from one body to another, and they
think that men by this tenet are in a great degree stimulated to valor, the fear of death being
disregarded. Elsewhere Caesar complained the Druids were a troublesome people. They were
difficult to destroy. There is little evidence of reincarnation among the early Hebrew people but it
later became a part of the Kabbalistic teaching. The teaching occurred among the early Christians,
especially the Gnostics, Manichaeans, and the Carthari, but was later repudiated by orthodox
Christian theologians. When asked by college students why Christianity does not teach
reincarnation Patricia Crowther, a witch, answered, ...The early Christians taught it (reincarnation),
and this can be proved by the words of Saint Gregory, Bishop of Nyssa: It is absolutely necessary

Controversies Of Louis Pasteur
Louis Pasteur was magnificently a genius. His life was an example of hard work and persistence.
He was called The father of modern hygiene, public health and much of modern medicine, as well
as the father of microbiology and immunology. As a scientist, he made many discoveries and
experimentations that are benefits to human and animals. Although sometimes his claims raised
controversies, Louis Pasteurinvestigated, revised deeper and deeper his claims to bring up more
evidences that lead him to more and more discoveries. Today, because of his claims; we know the
correlation or causation between putrefaction and fermentation. We know what makes the milk
spoiled, and how to prevent people to overuse it by putting an expiring date on the gallon.

Astrological Emptiness in Steve Almond’s “The Problem of...
In Steve Almond s story The Problem of Human Consumption , it revolves around the theme of
loss, morning, and grief. Almond s story focuses on a widowed father who is passed on to raise
his daughter single handily. The story discussed a day in which feelings of morning and deception
are brought out among the characters. The feelings of loss, morning and grief in this story have
greatly manifested the way this story was written and interpreted. After breaking down Almond s
story and reanalyzing it, it can be determined that through his use of the parallelof astrology(space)
mixed with his way of selective word choice and use of symbolism that he is able to strongly and
effectively support his work.

In one scene, Paul, the father, is holding his deceased wife s wedding ring, which, appears to be
suspended in the air. He talks about it as seeming to be suspended and defies the law of gravity .
When he discovers the ring, it is narrated that, The hair is looped through the band, actually in a
way that when he holds both ends the ring is suspended. He...the ring is defying the law of
gravity (Almond 144). Relating back to astrology, objects that are in dimensional space are
suspended due to the properties of space and the law of gravity . The parallel of astrology that the
author use has to do with space , that space which is being mirrored would be the void (emptiness,
another form of space) that Paul and Jess have due to the loss they re both facing, the loss of his
wife also her mother. The space in which the suspended ring creates through it, serves as a
mirror to the void which both character face. Symbolically, the void is represented with the dead
wife s wedding ring. Analytically, the ring is missing the space in which it use to occupy. Here
again recurs the theme of space relating to the most symbolic object throughout the story, the
wedding ring. The author used this parallel of astrology in order emphases one of the vastest,
curiosity striking, mystery to be discovered, which is space in terms of astrological space, but
along paralleling to the space of emptiness (in terms of loss of a love one). He does this in order to
analogously relate it to his

Medical Emergency Characterized By Low Serum Glucose Levels
Hypoglycaemia is a medical emergency characterized by low serum glucose levels and if not
treated correctly, can cause significant morbidity and mortality. (1 6) Hypoglycaemia often occurs
as a result of treatment for Diabetes Type 1 and 2, yet can also affect non diabetic casualties. (1 4,
6 9) This paper will reflect on the pre hospital clinical management of hypoglycaemia, by critically
analysing a large portion of Australian pre hospital treatment guidelines, in relation to international
practices, current evidence based literature and investigating potential areas for change.
Glucose is the primary energy source for all living cells in the body, with the function of the brain
heavily reliant on a constant supply of blood glucose to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(3, 4, 11, 12) Furthermore, administration of glucagon to casualties in situations where
gluconeogenesis may be defective could paradoxically provoke hypoglycaemia by stimulating the
release of insulin from the pancreas. (4)
Current Australian Defence Force (ADF) treatment protocols mandate that Glucagon administered
IMI is the first line treatment in the management of severe hypoglycaemia. (13) Guidelines direct
that casualties who remain unresponsive to glucagon after 10 minutes are then eligible for
treatment with IV dextrose 50%. (13) This appears unique to the ADF. The Ambulance Service of
New South Wales (ASoNSW) offers glucagon as a non essential treatment option along with
dextrose 10%, while Ambulance Victoria (AV) directs that glucagon is administered only to
patients in whom IV access cannot be established. (14, 15) Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS)
stipulates dextrose 10%, independent of glucagon is the first line treatment option for
hypoglycaemic patients, unable to swallow oral glucose. (9) Consideration of international
protocols reveals a judicial approach to administration of glucagon by New York City, Emergency
Medical Services (NYCEMS), which reserves

Relational Database Management Systems ( Rdbms )
Introduction
Nowadays, data is being generated by multiple sources around us at an alarming rate, be it sensors,
in the form of social media communications or mobile devices. It has become an important part of
an organization, Such data is called big data and the insights from big data can help examine trends,
understand customer preferences and help the organizations take better decisions which results in
better customer service and effective marketing.
Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS) provides an efficient way for storage and
processing of data but have limitations when it comes to handling Big Data.
Apache Hadoop is an open source framework and its helps in the distributed processing of
Big Data. Hadoop works on a distributed model, has a built in fault tolerance and handles
scalability very efficiently. It is able to process data of size petabytes with help of its Map
Reduce Programming model and Hadoop distributed File System.
RDMBS even with parallelizing capabilities and sharding the databases do not scale well for
large data sets and are also not cost effective. It is challenging for RDBMS to handle the data size
which has increased to petabytes and exabytes. The content from social media, text, video, audio,
etc is in semi structured or unstructured format which cannot be handled by RDBMS. Also, big
data grows at a very rapid rate, as an example online retailers maintain records of all the customer
interactions in the form of what

  • 2. Drug Education is More Beneficial than Drug Legalization... Drug Education is More Beneficial than Drug Legalization There are great numbers of people in Australia who believe that legalizing hard drugs, such as heroin, speed, cocaine etc, would improve the drug problem. This may be a true statement, however such legalization is yet to be proven, and can cause some severe consequences, which outweigh the possible benefits. Such consequences include an increase in uncontrolled use and thus increases in overdosing and intravenous (I.V.) transmitted diseases. For several decades drugs have been one of the major problems of society. There have been escalating costs spent on the war against drugs and countless dollars spent on rehabilitation, but the problem still exists. Not only has the drug ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Drugs should remain illegal in Australia because there would be an increase of drug abuse and a rapid increase of diseases such as AIDS. The belief that legalizing drugs would lessen crime exists in many communities. They point out that the legalization of drugs would deter future criminal acts and they emphasize prohibition. When the public realized that Prohibition could not be enforced the law was removed. This is true of alcohol, however drugs should not be legalized because there would be an increase in drug abuse due to its availability, of which there was little before. Once legalized, drugs would become cheaper and more accessible to people who previously had not tried drugs, because of the high price or the legal risk. Addicts who tend to stop, not by choice, but because the drugs aren t accessible would now feed the addiction if drugs were made legal. These drug addicts would not be forced to kick the habit due to the availability of the drug they would partake eagerly. The temptation to use drugs would increase when news reports of cocaine, heroin and speed s legalization are shown on television and in newspapers. Instead of money used by employed addicts, you will see welfare funds used to purchase drugs. If welfare funds were to be misused, a major problem in the economy could occur. Health officials have shown that the legalization of drugs would cause a rapid ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Just like any young teenager nearing high school graduation, I faced multiple life changing decisions and now after 26 years of military service, I still believe that I made the right decision. At the time of graduation, I did not envision college in my future. I was not fond of school and was looking to gain experience in life when it happened; I met a U.S. Army recruiter who communicated too me, you could do just that in the Army. I was not a stellar performer in school, but neither had I failed any classes, I merely wanted something different. After a lengthy discussion with my parents, we arranged an appointment where we could all set down with the recruiter who probably already knew that it was my parents that he would have to convince, as I was already sold. After several hours of open ended fact finding questions from the recruiter, my parents could see that this was the road that I would be taking, and reluctantly signed the contract for their 17 year old son to join the U.S. Army. After taking the entry exam and passing my physical, I was ready to choose a career field and complete my initial contract. I still remember my counselor telling me The Sky is the Limit as I signed up to be a United States ArmyParatrooper and Field Artilleryman. It is an integral component of the plasma membrane of animal cells, it is a precursor of steroid hormones and bile acids, and it plays a crucial role in the formation of the myelin sheath that surrounds axons. Lipoproteins are a family of globular particles comprised of a core of neutral lipids surrounded by cholesterol, phospholipids, and apoproteins. From an early age, these individuals are at high risk for atherosclerosis and heart disease. Heterozygous FH individuals are also at risk for these diseases, albeit to a much lesser degree. Because the FH mutation also caused the disease in heterozygous individuals, Goldstein and Brown began with the assumption that FH was the result of a defect in regulation of cholesterol synthesis. Discovery of the LDL Receptor Goldstein and Brown began their work by measuring the activity of 3 hydroxy 3 methylglutaryl coenzyme A reductase (HMG CoA reductase), which catalyzes the rate limiting step in cholesterol production. Goldstein and Brown found that when normal fibroblasts were grown in serum, HMG CoA reductase activity was low. Additionally, they found that when cholesterol carrying lipoproteins was removed from the culture medium, HMG CoA reductase activity increased by a large margin. Furthermore, they observed that HMG CoA reductase activity was suppressed when LDL was reintroduced to the medium. This inhibition of HMG CoA reductase by LDL, and the fact that low concentrations of LDL suppressed HMG CoA reductase activity, led Goldstein and Brown to believe that a receptor with high affinity for LDL was involved in the inhibition of cholesterol synthesis. When Goldstein and Brown measured HMG CoA reductase activity in FH homozygous fibroblasts grown in normal serum, they came to the conclusion that HMG CoA reductase activity was not affected by the presence of LDL in ... However, consider how much more complicated that environment becomes when the IC hears the word Mayday on the radio or suddenly realizes that an individual or an entire crew has not been seen or heard from and he has no idea of where to start looking. One of the main goals of the incident command system (ICS) is to manage resources on the fire grounds. The Incident Command System has a built in accountability system. Proper management of fire ground operations is necessary to achieve and maintain accountability. Accountability through incident command is possible only if it is established from the very beginning of the incident with the arrival of the first unit, officer, or member who establishes command and begins to assign and track incoming resources. Resources that self deploy on the fire ground without the establishment and direction of an overall IC are not operating within incident command, a single incident action plan (IAP), or an accountability system. The main concerns involved in Paul s epistlewere the misconstrued doctrine of Christ, and the misinterpretation of how this doctrine affected and influenced being a follower of Christ. The war effort stimulated patriotism and promoted economic prosperity. American industry quickly transformed to war production in order to contribute to the nation s military necessities. When the men left to fight in war, women were left with the men s duties back on the home front. During World War II, approximately 350,000 women served in the U.S. on the home front and overseas. The working industry instituted a campaign urging women to do their part to meet wartime manufacturing quotas. It wasn t common for women at this time to work outside the home, but this war needed every helping hand possible, womanor man. World War II brought about the new trend of women earning their own money for themselves instead of always having to rely on their husband s money. This gave a sense of independence to women of this era. NBs would add the Br to the benzylic carbons while FeCl3 and Cl2 is a friedel crafts alkylation and the Cls are added to the compound ortho directing since it can not attack para because there is already a molecule there. PPV can emit light because of its molecular diagram. To illustrate, the cathode and anode, 1,3 butadiene and 1,3,5 hexatriene s molecular orbital diagram are shown below. These diagrams show that the gap between the homo and lumo for 1,3,5 hexatriene is small which means the energy that is emitted would be lower than 1,3 butadiene but the wavelength for 1,3,5 hexatriene is higher. At higher wavelengths, there is less energy which is directly related to if PPV has electron withdrawing or donating groups. For example, BEH PPV, which emits orange red light, has two OR groups (which is an electron donating group) attached to it thus creating lower energy and higher wavelength values. On the other hand, BuEH PPV , a compound that emits a yellow green light, has two carbon chains attached to it, which although is still an electron donating group, is much weaker than OR so the wavelength value is less than BEH PPV, so the energy must be higher. To further increase energy, it is necessary to give PPV more electron withdrawing groups, such as a halogen. Halogens are useful in this reaction because although they are electron withdrawing groups, they still attack ortho/para which allows the electron withdrawing groups to enter in a spot with the least ... • 28. The Basic Principles Of Tai Chi Introduction Tai Chi, also known as Tai Chi Quan, is a form of ancient Chinese martial art with slow and graceful movements which is practiced for self defence and mind body relaxation exercise (Perry, 1982). The fundamental principles of Tai Chi can be traced back thousands of years to ancient Chinese health exercise (originally formulated in the 13th century during the Song Dynasty by Chan Shan fung) to its predecessor, Qi gong, and to the classical yoga in India. Each exercise has its own distinctive features, some with specific techniques beyond the ken of Tai Chi (Koh, 1981). However, the basic principles are the same. They emphasize the power of the mind and the importance of cultivating energy and evoking spirituality (Koh, 1981). It is very different to what the Western world thinks of martial arts which is often inevitably linked with the actions of kicking, punching and fighting. Tai Chi is all about the rhythmic, meditative movements designed to help a person find peace and calmness within the inner self. Research Objectives This ethnographic research aims to explore the perception and understanding of health and illness amongst people who practice Tai Chi and the beliefs underlying individuals decisions to carry out the practice. Michael Clyne proposes revisions to the four maxims in his 1994 book Intercultural Communication at Work. Do Clyne s revisions of this model go far enough in universally accounting for intercultural conversation? Why or why not? Grice s General Cooperative Principle has been under continuous debate for the past three decades. It is mainly through the maxims that Grice s paradigm has been challenged as highly ethnocentric, however such readings may tend to take the maxims too literally rather than as reference points for language interchange (Allan as cited in Clyne, 1994, p. 11). There is some agreement in this, but as suggested by Mey (1994, p. 74), the principle and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In such cases, there is a clash between Grice s maxims and the pragmatic rules of conversation, which are culturally sensitive. For example, when being offered a drink, a typical Chinese person would automatically say no the first time, while expecting the offer to be made at least two or three times more. This resembles a kind of phatic language communication; saying no, but not really meaning no. In this sort of situation, if someone doesn t adhere to the cultural norm choosing to follow Grice s maxims instead, then they would sound odd and out of place. The above example demonstrates that Grice s maxims aren t relevant in all contexts as they clash with certain cultural values systems. Many linguists (Clyne, 1994; Hymes, 1986; Loveday, 1983; Walsh, 2009) have picked up on this discrepancy between theory and data, claiming that the maxims are only relevant to the English speaking Western world. In particular, Clyne (1994) has pointed out that they have limited relevance to cultures where content and knowledge are core values. For example, speakers of Malagasy, whose form of co operation seems to consist in making their contributions as opaque, convoluted and non perspicuous as possible (Keenan as cited in Mey, 1994, p. 74) could be seen as flouting the Maxim of Quantity. The Greek philosopher Strabo (c. 63 BC 21 AD) observed the Druids believed that men s souls and the universe are indestructible, although at times fire and water may prevail. Even Julius Caesar wrote of the Celts They wish to inculcate this as one of their leading tenets, that souls do not become extinct, but pass after death from one body to another, and they think that men by this tenet are in a great degree stimulated to valor, the fear of death being disregarded. Elsewhere Caesar complained the Druids were a troublesome people. They were difficult to destroy. When asked by college students why Christianity does not teach reincarnation Patricia Crowther, a witch, answered, ...The early Christians taught it (reincarnation), and this can be proved by the words of Saint Gregory, Bishop of Nyssa: It is absolutely necessary that ... • 48. Astrological Emptiness in Steve Almond’s “The Problem of... In Steve Almond s story The Problem of Human Consumption , it revolves around the theme of loss, morning, and grief. Almond s story focuses on a widowed father who is passed on to raise his daughter single handily. The story discussed a day in which feelings of morning and deception are brought out among the characters. The feelings of loss, morning and grief in this story have greatly manifested the way this story was written and interpreted. After breaking down Almond s story and reanalyzing it, it can be determined that through his use of the parallelof astrology(space) mixed with his way of selective word choice and use of symbolism that he is able to strongly and effectively support his work. According to the Oxford dictionary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In one scene, Paul, the father, is holding his deceased wife s wedding ring, which, appears to be suspended in the air. He talks about it as seeming to be suspended and defies the law of gravity . When he discovers the ring, it is narrated that, The hair is looped through the band, actually in a way that when he holds both ends the ring is suspended. He...the ring is defying the law of gravity (Almond 144). Relating back to astrology, objects that are in dimensional space are suspended due to the properties of space and the law of gravity . The parallel of astrology that the author use has to do with space , that space which is being mirrored would be the void (emptiness, another form of space) that Paul and Jess have due to the loss they re both facing, the loss of his wife also her mother. The space in which the suspended ring creates through it, serves as a mirror to the void which both character face. Symbolically, the void is represented with the dead wife s wedding ring. Analytically, the ring is missing the space in which it use to occupy. Here again recurs the theme of space relating to the most symbolic object throughout the story, the wedding ring. The author used this parallel of astrology in order emphases one of the vastest, curiosity striking, mystery to be discovered, which is space in terms of astrological space, but along paralleling to the space of emptiness (in terms of loss of a love one). He does this in order to analogously relate it to his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 49. Medical Emergency Characterized By Low Serum Glucose Levels Hypoglycaemia is a medical emergency characterized by low serum glucose levels and if not treated correctly, can cause significant morbidity and mortality. (1 6) Hypoglycaemia often occurs as a result of treatment for Diabetes Type 1 and 2, yet can also affect non diabetic casualties. (1 4, 6 9) This paper will reflect on the pre hospital clinical management of hypoglycaemia, by critically analysing a large portion of Australian pre hospital treatment guidelines, in relation to international practices, current evidence based literature and investigating potential areas for change. Glucose is the primary energy source for all living cells in the body, with the function of the brain heavily reliant on a constant supply of blood glucose to ... (3, 4, 11, 12) Furthermore, administration of glucagon to casualties in situations where gluconeogenesis may be defective could paradoxically provoke hypoglycaemia by stimulating the release of insulin from the pancreas. (4) Current Australian Defence Force (ADF) treatment protocols mandate that Glucagon administered IMI is the first line treatment in the management of severe hypoglycaemia. (13) Guidelines direct that casualties who remain unresponsive to glucagon after 10 minutes are then eligible for treatment with IV dextrose 50%. (13) This appears unique to the ADF. The Ambulance Service of New South Wales (ASoNSW) offers glucagon as a non essential treatment option along with dextrose 10%, while Ambulance Victoria (AV) directs that glucagon is administered only to patients in whom IV access cannot be established. (14, 15) Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) stipulates dextrose 10%, independent of glucagon is the first line treatment option for hypoglycaemic patients, unable to swallow oral glucose. (9) Consideration of international protocols reveals a judicial approach to administration of glucagon by New York City, Emergency Medical Services (NYCEMS), which reserves ... • 50. Relational Database Management Systems ( Rdbms ) Introduction Nowadays, data is being generated by multiple sources around us at an alarming rate, be it sensors, in the form of social media communications or mobile devices. It has become an important part of an organization, Such data is called big data and the insights from big data can help examine trends, understand customer preferences and help the organizations take better decisions which results in better customer service and effective marketing. Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS) provides an efficient way for storage and processing of data but have limitations when it comes to handling Big Data. Apache Hadoop is an open source framework and its helps in the distributed processing of Big Data. Hadoop works on a distributed model, has a built in fault tolerance and handles scalability very efficiently. It is able to process data of size petabytes with help of its Map Reduce Programming model and Hadoop distributed File System. RDMBS even with parallelizing capabilities and sharding the databases do not scale well for large data sets and are also not cost effective. It is challenging for RDBMS to handle the data size which has increased to petabytes and exabytes. The content from social media, text, video, audio, etc is in semi structured or unstructured format which cannot be handled by RDBMS. Also, big data grows at a very rapid rate, as an example online retailers maintain records of all the customer interactions in the form of what ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
