What Is True Friendship Definition Essay
What is my definition of true friendship? True friendship is based on how much love and trust
there is for one another. You may have a lot of friends in this life, but only a few of them are
your real friends. There are people you can t imagine your life without, and you and you are
grateful for every day you spend with them. Not only do you make them a better person, but they
also make you the best person you can be.
The trust you feel in a friendship is uncomparable to anything in the world. Knowing that you have
someone who you can say/tell anything to bring so much relief: even though, your friend may
judge you sometimes for what you do they ll still stick by your side. Sometimes you can be going
through something difficult to handle,

School Counselor Career Goals
Career Position
My career goals include working as and becoming a certified school counselor in the State of
Florida, setting up the collaboration of district resources instead of the current departmental
divisions, and synergizing through a team approach. Given that I currently am in the position of
School Counselor I understand I need a deeper knowledge base to best serve the students. I believe
that the goal of becoming a certified school counselor will be achieved through the education,
residency, practicum, and internship that are part of this program. As a Professional School
Counselor, I hope to impact change across my school district with setting up collaboration of
district resources resources for the benefit of all students. I have worked in a system in which
everything stays very departmentalized and I would like to see synergizing across those
departments. Turning the district into a true team is a long term achievable goal, with myself as the
counselor just being one member of that team (Erford, 2015).

Do we first look at the purpose of schools as preparing students for the future careers, turning
students into lifelong learners always seeking knowledge as our universe changes, developing
morally sound adults in a democratic society? There are many aspects of the educational
purpose of schools that has evolved as our nation has grown and changed. When I think about
the educational purpose of public schools today, I look at how do we help students learn how to
seek information, apply skills, and gain resources to make sure their needs are met while being a
productive member of their community and society. The old saying You can t teach an old dog a
new trick is far from the truth and the educational purpose of public schools should be related with
how we shape learners to be able evolve with our ever changing

Loss of Innocence in Truman Capote s In Cold Blood Essay
All things truly wicked start from an innocence, states Ernest Hemingway on his view of
innocence. Innocence, what every youth possesses, is more accurately described as a state of
unknowing but not ignorance which connotation suggests a blissfully positive view of the world.
Most youth are protected from the harsh realities of the adult world. Therefore they are able to
maintain their state of innocence. While innocence normally wanes over time, sometimes
innocence can be abruptly taken away. Some of the characters in Truman Capotes In Cold Bloodlost
their innocence due to the traumatic events they experienced in childhood and adulthood while
some had none to begin with.
Innocence can be stolen but the desire to return to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Parents are supposed to shelter their children from the fraudulent outside world and keep their
purity intact. Perry Smith, murderer of the Clutter family, had an upbringing that was marked by
brutality and lack of concern on the part of both parents. Due to his childhood he seems to have
grown up without direction, and without ever having absorbed any fixed sense of moral values.
He felt no regret for murdering the family, only that he felt sorry that they were the ones that ...
had to pay for it. While Dick considered Perry as innocent, he had never been with a woman , he
believed Perry was a natural born killer who attaches little real value to human life . Perry s tragic
upbringing had turned him into a cold blooded killer unaware of the beauty of innocence, which he
so easily stole from the Clutter family the moment he killed them. Innocent people cannot be
protected from the individual whose innocence is not present.
If innocence is not present in an individual it cannot be protected. An individual of this kind makes
choices that effect how corrupt they can become. Dick Hickock had a loving family, who
supported and loved him as he grew up. Even though he was in a nurturing environment that
protected him from the corrupt society around him, he still became a criminal. This shows that
innocence, if not present in the first place, cannot be salvaged. After passing hot checks he was put
in jail where his jealousy of

Persistent Depressive Consorder And Major Depressive...
Persistent depressive disorder and major depressive disorder are unipolar mood disorders. They
are associated with high socio economic burden, according to estimations cost the US over $200
billion each year (Greenberg et al, 2005 2010), and have high suicide rates (Harris and
Barraclough, 1998). The prevalence of persistent depressive disorder and major depressive
disorder are estimated at 3.6 % and 6.7 % (Waraich et al., 2014). The use of medication and
psychotherapy is effective for some patients, yet about 20% of patients do not benefit from any
treatment and, for patients that do respond to treatment and intervention, there is a high relapse
rate. (Gaynes, 2009). Few pharmaceutical companies are investing in research into... Show more

Clinical research using serotoninergic psychedelics in the treatment of cancer related distress
has demonstrated that participants symptoms improved in: depression, anxiety, fear of death,
and quality of life (Grof et al., 1973; Pahnke et al., 1969; Kast, 1966). Rucker, Jelen, Flynn,
Frowde and Young (2016) conducted a systematic review of the literature on the use of
psychedelics in the treatment of unipolar mood disorders before psychedelics were legally
prohibited in the late 1960s. They conducted a search in the PsycINFO and MEDLINE
databases, and after thorough screening and examination, the authors included 21 studies,
published between 1949 and 1973, in their systematic review. The sample sizes in these studies
ranged from 5 to 77, whereas the total sample size across all of the studies was 423 (where it was
possible to estimate). The therapeutic paradigms were varied in each of the studies and they
employed a range of 1 to 58 sessions with psychedelics. The psychedelic drugs used in these
studies were LSD and mescaline in addition to LSD, and the dosages used were varied. The
absence of studies that used psilocybin as the psychedelic compound is likely because psilocybin
was not isolated and marketed until after 1959, whereas LSD was an established pharmaceutical
entity by that time (Hofman et al., 1959). However, modern clinical trials have favored the use of

Red Blood Cells
Red blood cell

Human red blood cells (6 8Ојm)
Red blood cells (also referred to as erythrocytes) are the most common type of blood cell and the
vertebrateorganism s principal means of delivering oxygen (O2) to the body tissues via the blood
flow through thecirculatory system. They take up oxygen in the lungs or gills and release it while
squeezing through the body scapillaries.
These cells cytoplasm is rich in hemoglobin, an iron containing biomolecule that can bind oxygen
and is responsible for the blood s red color.
In humans, mature red blood cells are flexible biconcave disks that lack a cell nucleus and most
organelles. 2.4 million new erythrocytes are produced per second.[1] The cells ... Show more

Membrane composition
The membrane of the red blood cell plays many roles that aid in regulating their surface
deformability, flexibility, adhesion to other cells and immune recognition. These functions are
highly dependent on its composition, which defines its properties. The red blood cell membrane is
composed of 3 layers: the glycocalyx on the exterior, which is rich in carbohydrates; the lipid
bilayer which contains many transmembrane proteins, besides its lipidic main constituents; and the
membrane skeleton, a structural network of proteins located on the inner surface of the lipid
bilayer. In human erythrocytes, like in most mammal erythrocytes, half of the membrane mass is
represented by proteins and the other half are lipids, namely phospholipids and cholesterol.[29]

on the bilayer. Relative abundances are not at scale.
The erythrocyte cell membrane comprises a typical lipid bilayer, similar to what can be found in
virtually all human cells. Simply put, this lipid bilayer is composed of cholesterol andphospholipids
in equal proportions by weight. The lipid composition is important as it defines many physical
properties such as membrane permeability and fluidity. Additionally, the activity of many
membrane proteins is regulated by interactions with lipids in the bilayer.

Racial Prejudice In Society

Prejudice in Society: A Social Challenge
Prejudice is the term referring to the practice of forming an opinion or value of someone or
something, in the absence of direct experience of that person or thing (Augoustinos, Walker and
Donaghue 225). Prejudice include preformed opinions and views made prior to uncovering of
the real facts and knowledge behind the subject from an individual, a group of people, or even
the values and beliefs they espouse. In some societies, prejudices have been regarded as pervasive
social challenges, serving to separate groups of people and individuals along divisive lies drawn by
their different opinions (Rauch 1995). While prejudices ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Allowing racial prejudice to continue without any form of intervention would be opening doors to
building up animosity and negative tension between involved groups (Augoustinos and Reynolds
244). Using the same example of racial prejudice, it would be apparent that the raised dissimilarities
and opinions against either groups will be destructive in terms of building social cognition and
cohesion among racial groups (Augoustinos, Walker and Donaghue 226). On the other hand, Rauch
advocates for intellectual pluralism with the standpoint that it would provide protection for the
vulnerable minority groups. As pointed out in his article on prejudice, pluralism conjectures that
there will always exist such prejudices , which should instead be marginalized, exploited, ridiculed,
but left alone at the end (Rauch 1995). It is evident that preconceptions and bigotries cannot be
eliminated from every corner as presupposed by purist view. Contrary to Rauch s view that
suppressing prejudice will be counterproductive, however, measures put across public utilities and
institutions are beneficial in curtailing spread of malicious opinions. These include equal
employment opportunity extended to all people by public institutions regardless of their racial
background. Another effective measure has been the inhibiting of any form of racial utterances,
abuse and actions in these institutions, especially violent behavior, motivated by racial hatred with
the malicious intent of injuring a person of another race. In addition to these, institutions have the
mandate to sue in court such behavior within our justice

Business Cycle Essay
In everyday society, companies are affected by the economy. The company either suffers or
benefits depending on what kind of economy it is. This will depend on what kind of company it
is, and what kind of market the business does well in. The Business Cycle is what determines this
factor. It is a term used in economics to designate changes in the economy.
Timing of the business cycle is not predictable, but its phases seem to be. Many economists site four
phases prosperity, liquidation, depression, and recovery. During a period of prosperity, a rise in
production leads to increases in employment, wages, and profits. Obstacles then begin to obstruct
further expansion. Production costs can increase, helping create a rise in prices, and ... Show more

A fast food restaurant made sense from Eisner s perspective since Disney s theme parks had

Causes And Impacts Of The Restoration Of Coral Reefs And...
Seagrasses are essential primary producers that provide habitat and refuge to fauna. Anthropogenic
influences have caused global loss of seagrasses and a major contributor is eutrophication, which
increases phytoplankton and algal populations, reduces light availability, and causes daily hypoxic
conditions. Eutrophication is commonly linked to declines in temperate conditions and is more
difficult to link to tropical systems since decreases are typically related to physical damage and
diminishing light conditions from runoff. Climate change, herbivore declines, disease and
overfishing, along with anthropogenic impacts from coastal development, run off, eutrophication,
and aquaculture have caused declines in coralreefs and mangrove systems. These three systems are
interconnected and when one system is impacted, secondary impacts are observed in the other
systems; coastal ecosystems will be adversely effected and decline. Additional research,
conservation, and ways to reduce anthropogenic impacts have been discussed. Restoration is used
to reverse habitat loss, although success is varied. Coastal systems and the biological and
ecosystem services they provide, may take decades to establish. Marine Protected Areas (MPAs)
are instituted to protect systems from further degradation, restore communities and allow them to
flourish naturally. However, local residents are affected by MPAs and may become displaced, have

Mixed Martial Arts And Mixed Martial Arts
People have been beating the shit out of each other for sport since the dawn of man. In America
it seems that generally people really enjoy a good fight whether it s a controlled fight that they
paid to see or two people got rowdy in a bar. I get why people are into mixed martial arts or just
martial arts in general. It teaches you discipline and respect for knowing how to use your body
as a weapon. With my limited knowledge of the MMA, it seems like a lot of fighters are pretty
level headed guys no matter how many punches they take to the face. I get it, it s great fun to to
rough house with a friend, but I really don t see the point of fighting just to be a violent asshole.
I get doing it for sport, because it s two hopefully sober people who agreed to fight each other
where as that might not be the case in a street fight. Now I ve never met a professional cage
fighter before but I have had a few chats with amateur ones and it was interested to say the least.

This trust was an alternative form for a monopoly, and other companies began to use this trust
form of business in order to create giant monopolies in their independent markets. Standard Oil s
sales continued to increase, and the company began to acquire smaller companies to continue
their rapid growth. When Rockefeller would acquire smaller companies, he would completely
shut down the ones he believed were inefficient and keep the ones that he thought he could bring
up to his caliber of quality. Unfortunately for the workers from the companies that were shut

have more control over the oil market by having the ability to possess large amounts of oil.
Rockefeller had the ability to send in oil, or hold the oil in the warehouses which could cause a

smaller refineries because they could not produce enough oil fast enough to be able to be offered

Geert Hofstede theorized the Cultural Dimensions theory, which allows categorisation of countries
or societies into different dimensions, explaining the effects of a society s culture on the values of
its population. (Hofstede, G. 2009) The dimensions are as follows power distance, uncertainty
avoidance, individualism vs. collectivism, masculine vs feminine, and long term or short term
orientation. By focusing on the individualist vs. collectivist dimension, the impact of geographical
location on suiciderates could potentially be explained.
Members of individualistic cultures place an emphasis personal rights, innovation, and self
expression. Individualistic cultures tend to focus more on themselves rather than groups of people
and prioritize their own personal gains and achievements. Independence is valued; there is less
importance is placed on helping other citizens of the community than in collectivistic societies.
Countries such as the United States, United Kingdom, and Australia are examples of individualistic
cultures. In contrast, collectivistic cultures place an emphasis on collaboration, shared interests and
harmony, and focus on loyalty and cooperation. Collectivist cultures therefore tend to value group
efforts over an individual s, and each person is encouraged to be an active person in society.

Therefore, individualistic people tend to not display suicidal behavior, because individualistic
people grow up in types of environment that builds their EQ, which reduces the chances of them

Equality For Women s The Business World
Equality for Women in the Business World I have a question: when you think of a successful
business owner, who do you think of, a man or a women? Unfortunately, when most people think of
a success they automatically think of a man because society has instilled in us that men have the
most power. There has been improvement already made towards business women, but
unfortunately working women still do not have equal rights. Regina Blaszczyk said in the last sixty
years there has been revolutionary changes in the status of business women. Between the end of
World War II and 1995, women have entered the workforce with larger numbers and have also
come in with managerial positions in American corporations( Women in Business A Historical

Building A Level Of Trust Essay
Building a level of trust between your business and your customers is vital, not only for how your
brand, but also returning customers. There are no shortcuts to making this work, it takes time and
patience, but what are the important factors?
Firstly, understand that e commerce acquires a lot of data. Simple newsletter sign ups may just
involve an email address, or a simple profile to be created. However, more and more retailers are
collecting further data, such as birthdays and location. The full checkout process will involve full
personal details such as billing/home address, delivery/work address and all card details and
security number. Even a phone number for delivery is sometimes required.
Ask yourself the question, do your customers know where you live? When your birthday is? Your
mobile phone number? It s extreme thinking, however, it puts into perspective the level of trust
need to purchase from a new store. Gaining, and more importantly, retaining your customer s trust
should be top priority when running an e commerce business. Here s how to make it, not break it.
1. Customer Service
Your customer service team is your front line of defence. They are your brand ambassadors. The
point of contact at the end of the phone when problems occur. Hire intelligently and treat them
well. Great customer service is rarely rewarded, however, bad service festers. With the correct
resourcing your can hire great brand ambassadors who are great with clients, but people who

NHL Hockey and Olympic hockey are very different due to each league having their own style of

will be ejected from the game. In the NHL fighting, is what most fans come to watch fighting

All of the rosters of the twelve teams have at least one NHL player on its roster. However, the
NHL is thinking about not letting its players play in the Olympics because it cuts into the season,
and there is a risk of getting there star players injured.
When Team USA beat the Soviet in 1980 it was important for the US hockey world because that
team was seeded seventh entering the game against the Soviet Union. During the 1980 Olympic
run the average was 22 and all the players were that year were both amateur and college players
and the Soviet s team was mainly professional and experienced players. This win gave coach
Herb Brooks a place in history because he did something no other USA coach has done for the last
twenty years and that is beat Russia, and he was named sportsman of the year in 1990.
In the Olympics for Hockey, they take the helmet and protecting the face rule very serious.
During warm ups, it has been required that all players wear helmets. If a player is not wearing
his helmet correctly during the game, the game will be stopped and the player is penalized. The
NHL is a little bit easier on players, it s not required like in the Olympics where players have to
wear a helmet during pre game and if your helmet comes off in the during NHL play the game
continues.

tumours and exogenous steroid use. Except for exogenous steroid use, the other mentioned causes
of CS can all be caused by genetic mutations. Currently, very little is known about the prevalence of
genetic mutations in CS. This essay will discuss the key genetic mutations that cause CS and

Menin acts as an adaptor protein regulating multiple pathways involved in differentiation, DNA
repair, proliferation and epigenetic modification. It is also expressed in all adult tissues which
strongly indicates a key role in cell cycle regulation. This is emphasised by the fact that MEN1
knockout mice(12) die in utero with neural, hepatic and cardiac abnormalities. However, there is
still a mystery to why the absence of a functioning ubiquitous protein only causes proliferation in
endocrine tissue. This is partially answered by the mechanism of menin. In p27kip and p18ink4c
double knockout mice(13), the mice develop parathyroid and pituitary adenomas. In other words, a
very similar picture to MEN1. This is highly suggestive of menin working upstream of other cell
cycle regulators, such as p27kip and p18ink4c. It also indicates that in endocrine cells there are no
mechanisms to compensate for deficiency in functional menin, whilst in other tissue types can
compensate. This explains why menin deficiency seems to result in endocrine

Model Minority Theory
Stereotypes refer to the beliefs that make up the characteristics, attributes, and behaviors of
members within a specific group (Whitley, 2016). While stereotypes can serve as a way to make
quick judgements based on what we perceive, they can negatively affect those who are stereotyped.
Stereotypes regardless if they are good or bad can create harmful consequences by attributing
characteristics to people that simply aren t true. Many forms of racism and stereotyping pertaining
to Asian Americans are often neglected and require further attention to have these issues addressed
properly (Tummala Narra, 2018). These neglected forms of racism can potentially affect the

University Recruiting
The article written by ESPN reporter Jemele Hill explores the tumultuous story of Chris Webber
and the University of Michigan. Chris Webber was a basketball star in the early nineties at the
University of Michigan and was a major contributor to the university reaching the NCAA
championship game two years in a roll. After his career at Michigan, allegations were raised and
then founded that Webber received thousands of dollars from than booster Ed Martin while
attending Michigan. The receiving of these benefits is a violation of NCAA rules per NCAA by

Jimmy King believed that Webber s actions hurt many people that had nothing to do with Ed
Martin. We have seen now over the years these types of situations arise before this incident Luther
Campbell and the University of Miami, Sherwood Blount and Southern Methodist University. After
this event Mike Ornstein and the University of Southern California. There are others as well, and
there will likely be more in the future. Boosters due to the many they give to the school are given
access to the institution and players sometimes in good faith. Some boosters take advantage of this
to what they feel as helping the recruiting process by offer money and gifts. The institutions must
have control over the supporters access to student athletes to avoid violation of NCAA rules.
However, the question is whether we can solve these issues through financial reimbursement for
student athletes. The issue is due to all student athletes get paid or just sports that generate massive
amounts of revenue like football and college basketball. Is it morally correct for a football player to
receive money from a golf player? They are both student athletes and may be facing the same
financial hardships. I do not believe that that is correct nor fair. I think if you pay one student
athletes they all should receive money. But, also the question arises whether having received a
free education is not enough and does the payment of players break the amateur status of student
athletes. A tough topic and there is a solution here somewhere. However, in the regard on whether
Chris Webber owes the university an apology, I would say yes at least an apology to all those his
actions

Secondary Headaches
A headache is a throbbing pain in the head which tends to be unilateral, spreading across the
forehead and eyes. Headache is an agonising ache which could simply be a typical pain or it could
be constant discomfort around the head which could be severe. (Wedro, 2015)
Headaches are very common with around 10 million people frequently complaining of headaches in
outpatient practice (Kaderebek, 2015). The nature of headaches varies from typical headaches to
migraines which need to be given more attention to. If the pain is relentless and is affecting their
performance it would be advised to visit a health professional, to find out the underlying issue.
Primary headaches are not a symptom but rather over activity of pain fibres in the brain. Secondary
headaches are due to an underlying problem from an illness. It is a symptom of a disease that

How Do Genetically Engineered Foods Protect The Environment
People opposed to genetically engineered crops believe genetically engineering a crop to have a
higher nutritional value will cause problems with a person s diet. They believe people will then
disregard other foods besides the new genetically engineered food, and this will cause other
health issues. This does not seem likely because genetically engineered crops with enhanced
nutritional value are aimed to help people reach a certain daily value of a vitamin or mineral, not
to replace a person s whole diet. A person will still have to eat other foods with the new
genetically engineered food, however, he or she will not have to eat as much to obtain the correct
daily values of their vitamins and minerals. Countries such as Africa, who have a problem with
people dying of starvation each year, could really use these kinds of crops. Crops that are
genetically engineered to withstand drastic weather conditions and are higher in nutritional value
could help Africa have a higher yield of crops to feed the starving children with. The increased
nutritional value in these crops would also help the starving children get more of the vitamins and
minerals they need to survive.
Some people worry genetic engineering can harm the environment, however, genetically engineered
crops can help protect the environment. The environment is important for the survival of humans,
and protecting it has been a focus for many scientists. Genetically engineered crops can protect the

The high cost of health care that we are currently experiencing in the United States was not as

nonprofit is able to do this is to charge more to patients who are able to pay in order to offset

Battle Of Iwo Jima
The Battle of Iwo Jima started February 19, 1945 and ended in late March. It was a battle fought
between right around 70,000 U.S. soldiers and about 20,000 Japanese soldiers. Three divisions
of U.S. Marines invaded the island with one goal, to capture the Japanese airfields. This battle
was a huge turning point in World War II and helped end the war. The battle of Iwo Jima
happened because the location of the island was tactically important. Iwo Jima was close enough
to the main island of Japan that the U.S. could send fighter jets with bombers to bomb the main
island. There were three airfields which could be used for emergency landing bases during the
bombing runs. Taking over the airfields would also help stop the Japanese fighter jets shooting

How Morals Are Thrown Around Through The Actions And...
Andrew Robb In the tragedy Antigone many ideas of morals are tossed around through the actions
and speeches of the characters Creon and Antigone. Though these morals seem logical at first, it
can later be seen that these two characters represent an over fixation on singular ideas, or morals,
of life when it is taken to the extreme. This close mindedness ultimately leads to these character s
downfalls with Creonrevealing that his moral extreme is the political sphere of life and Antigone,
the private sphere holds the truth. She wants to bury her brother, Polynices(Galens). A proper
burial for those killed in battle was essential for the Ancient Greeks (Fletcher). To give Polynices
his proper burial, she infringes upon her Uncle Creon s laws that specifically forbid her from
burying Polynices as he was an enemy of the people. She wishes to follow and interpret the
traditions and rituals the divine gods expect, and hence clashes with Creon s governmental status.
Through focusing their entire lives to these causes and desires, they have damned themselves to
their own demise by being so close minded of the world around them. Creon is a fatigued, wrinkled
man enduring the weights of leadership and has now surrendered himself altogether to the throne.
Unlike Antigone, he has totally ceded his wishes to take upon the mantle of administration. As he
tells Antigone, his only interest is in political and social order. This obsession with the state and
civil order causes him

As Proctor made the decision to retract his confession water began to stream out from the centre

the narrative; it confused me, as it wasn t clear exactly why the water had any relevance to the
plot. Alternatively, for Elizabeth who was stood next to John trying to persuade him to confess so

Compare Beowulf And Forrest Gump
Nowadays many people believe that Beowulf and Forrest Gump are similar because they both
considered as heroes of the time in which they lived. First of all, Beowulf considered as a hero
because he is capable of sacrificing himself and courage in the name of justice. He is brave, and
at the same time, a decent hero. There is no reason to doubt his merits. Forrest Gump is also
considered as a hero because he thinks about faith, love, honesty, patriotism. He is a kind person
who remained faithful to his family, friends, and his country. He is a man who always carries
God in his soul, and lives according to the laws of Christian love to God and to the nearest ones.
Both Beowulf and Forrest Gump do things that other people consider impossible. Beowulf and
Forrest Gump can be compared as heroes representing their time period and cultures. Beowulf is
a medieval heroic epic. The poem originated on the basis of ancient traditions related to pagan
times. The poem represent an early example of precisely moral heroism, but not the one that is
caused by the desire for fame and power. The main character of the poem, Beowulf, is capable of
sacrificing himself and courage in the name of justice. He is a true hero by honoring his country
and exerting his power and strength to protect others. His courage is shown by not hesitating to
risk his own life to pursue the Dane s enemies. By being self assured, Beowulf is able to
successfully defeat the fiends, Grendel and his infamous mother. At the time Beowulf is
planning to pursue the vindictive dragon, the epic poem states, I ve never known fear, as a
youth I fought in endless battles. I am old now, but I will fight again, seek fame still, If the
dragon hiding in his tower dares to face me. (ll. 2511 2515). He feels no fear, is confident in
fighting the dragon alone, and has no qualms in risking his life to save others. He declares his
bravery by saying, When he comes to me I mean to stand, not run from his shooting flames, stand
till fate decides which of us wins... No one else could do what I mean to, here, no man but me
could hope to defeat this monster. (ll. 2525 2534) In his actions, Beowulf s bravery is clearly

Muslim American Stereotypes
Stereotypes of Muslims in America
In the recent years there has been an increase in the number of terrorist attacks and groups such as
9 11, Paris, and Isis . As these attacks get more and more frequent and so does the amount of media
that covers them. When the media reports about these events they can spread untrue, misleading or
misunderstood information. This kind of spread can get cause stereotypes among the American
people.
Even before 9/11, the effects of stereotyping against Muslims has been present. For example in a
Harvard University article about Muslim Americans struggling with stereotypes it states, in the
immediate wake of the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing, early news accounts included reports of
people of Middle Eastern heritage fleeing the scene; many journalists, experts, and even former
Representative Dave McCurdy linked the bombing to fundamentalist Islamic terrorist groups. In
media such as newspapers they have printed in a way that could be misleading to the reader,
newspaper headlines regularly print the words Islam and Muslim next to words like fanatic, ...

This discrimination has lead to 10 percent wage reduction since 9/11 . This also makes it very
hard to get hired for a job. According to Sound Vision if a Muslim American is hired ...they are the
last hired and the first fired. Many who own business have noticed a decline in their customers.
According to Sound Vision, Muslim establishments have lost about 40 percent of their business
post 9/11. Muslims are frequently being discriminated against. Nearly 75 percent of Muslim
Americans either know someone who has or have themselves experienced an act of anti Muslim
discrimination, harassment, verbal abuse or physical attack since September 11. They are being
discriminated against because of a few extremists in their religion they can t control .(according to

Wally Pfister s Techniques In The Film Inept Inception
not until the van falls of the bridge that the audience is presented with the rest of the stages. I
cannot imagine how hard it had to be for Nolan to narrate the story concisely and smoothly at the
same time. Roger Ebert commented on his review for the film that we have to trust him (Nolan)
that he can lead us through, because much of the time we are lost and disoriented. I, personally,
did not feel that way. Of course, a lot of credit has to be given to the cinematographer too. Wally
Pfisterused subtle but effective techniques to simplify a little the complex nature of the story. In
order to prove my point, let me give an example.
In order to help the audience to seamlessly identify the dream levels where the different stages of
the plan were takin g place, Pfister gave each level a particular color tone. The first level, where the
abduction takes place, has a fairly neutral tone to it; everything looks normal. The second level,
most of the action develops in the hotel hallway, the lighting and furniture provide a warmth tone;
and the third level, where they penetrate the mountain fortress, has a cool tone to enhance its
already sterile ambient.
Pfister certainly contributed to the beauty and creativeness of the film. It is no surprise his work on
Inception earned him the Academy Award for Best Cinematography. Among many of the scenes that

Well known film reviewer Roger Ebert gave the film a 4/4 rating. I had the same opinion until I
looked at some of the negative criticism of the film and changed my mind. I believe the film
deserves a 3.8/4 rating instead. In order to defend my position, I need to talk about certain details
from the movie, but I do not want to spoil the movie for you; therefore I will address this point of
view as a post review comment. I recommend you to watch the movie first, and then come back to
read the rest of the review. It is a film worth watching. It is well made, interesting, intelligent, and

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), formerly known as food stamps, is a
social welfare program designed to increase the nutritional value of a low income household s
food supply. It does this through Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) cards that are loaded with a
monetary allotment based on family size and income, which can then be redeemed for groceries at
participating SNAP stores (Karger Stoesz, 2014). 46.2 million Americans participated in the
program in 2011 (Andrews Smallwood, 2012). Yet the program did not always function in the way
it currently does. Originally enacted in the 1960s, this program has undergone many changes over
the years. There are many factors, including historical and economic elements, which... Show more

The SNAP program is able to help many families have food security, making them able to
alleviate many of these issues. Food security becomes an even bigger issue with increasing rates
of unemployment. As unemployment rates and need for assistance have been rising, so have
participants, with the number of participants rising from 17 million in 2000 to 45 million in
2011 (Karger Stoesz, 2014). However, despite a decrease in unemployment rates from 2003 2007,
the number of people living in poverty rose 4%, which contributed to a 22% increase in SNAP
caseloads during that period (Andrews Smallwood, 2012). When benefit levels were increased to
reflect the needs of the 2007 recession, SNAP participation rose 3%, food insecurity prevalence
rates dropped 2.2%, and very low food security prevalence rates dropped 2% (Nord Prell,

Descriptive Essay On The San Juan Mountains
Every place has a taste. My highschool tastes bland, and a little bit like a cracker beginning to go
stale. My home tastes like sunlight on autumn leaves. Every place has a taste, but I will never forget
the taste of the majesty of the San Juan Mountains.
The first time I laid eyes upon the San Juan Mountains, I couldn t believe that I was only a few
miles away from the cold desert that is Colorado. The further into the rugged mountain range the
highway led me, the more awe and disbelief fell upon me. I felt small, and as if I was the first
person to ever discover those hidden valleys that support entire ecosystems of plants and
animals. The scattered puffs of cloud above me painted shadows along the razor edged peaks,
giving an appearance of a mural, rather than massive chunks of rock carved away by the centuries.
I could hear nothing except for the pounding of far off waterfalls and the whispering of the pines,
who shared secrets that nobody but they would ever know. I felt like an intruder, and yet
welcomed. I was lost, but at home.
Around a bend, and out of the blue, there came a town. Even so far from the nearest city, the
town was butsling. Main Street was lined with colorful buildings restored from the Victorian era.
A two floor hotel, elegant even in it s old age, announced its presence at the corner of an
intersection. The stout brick walls stood fortified, defying the valley winds. The occasional house
could be seen through the tightly packed boutiques, shops, and art galleries. One was baby blue
and white, another, the color of dried saffron. Further on down Main Street, natural hot springs
revealed themselves. People of every age packed into the heated pools. A vicious game of
volleyball had commenced, and more people were flocking to the net even in the second it took to
drive past. Eventually, the quaint Main Street ended, and the highway led the car through several
switchbacks that twisted up the side of the valley. At the top, a weather worn sign named the town
Ouray , and the sight below was one to behold. Ouray spread through the bowl formed when rivers
and mountains collide, spreading to the edges until not a shed more could ve been built. But the
highway kept leading, and the car kept

Horror Film Cinematography Aficionados Analysis
Horror Film cinematography aficionados seems more specific than the broad topic of the genre
horror, which includes, books, poetry, movies, thrill rides and events. Therefore I want to take a
different approach than my outline by specifying such a broad topic. To be more specific my essay
would not only include the Horror filmas one of my discourse communities but also will include
how it relates into my major psychology. This includes excerpts/references from a book called
Psychological Reflections on Cinematic Terror that I rented in the UCF library which consists of an
analysis on historical perspectives on the horror archetypes. With this in mind I plan on explaining
how certain events can become stimulants in a persons brain that can

Innocence, what every youth possesses, is more accurately described as a state of unknowing but not ignorance which connotation suggests a blissfully positive view of the world. Most youth are protected from the harsh realities of the adult world. Therefore they are able to maintain their state of innocence. While innocence normally wanes over time, sometimes innocence can be abruptly taken away. Some of the characters in Truman Capotes In Cold Bloodlost their innocence due to the traumatic events they experienced in childhood and adulthood while some had none to begin with. Parents are supposed to shelter their children from the fraudulent outside world and keep their purity intact. Perry Smith, murderer of the Clutter family, had an upbringing that was marked by brutality and lack of concern on the part of both parents. Due to his childhood he seems to have grown up without direction, and without ever having absorbed any fixed sense of moral values. He felt no regret for murdering the family, only that he felt sorry that they were the ones that ... had to pay for it. While Dick considered Perry as innocent, he had never been with a woman , he believed Perry was a natural born killer who attaches little real value to human life . Perry s tragic upbringing had turned him into a cold blooded killer unaware of the beauty of innocence, which he so easily stole from the Clutter family the moment he killed them. Innocent people cannot be protected from the individual whose innocence is not present. If innocence is not present in an individual it cannot be protected. An individual of this kind makes choices that effect how corrupt they can become. Dick Hickock had a loving family, who supported and loved him as he grew up. Even though he was in a nurturing environment that protected him from the corrupt society around him, he still became a criminal. Rucker, Jelen, Flynn, Frowde and Young (2016) conducted a systematic review of the literature on the use of psychedelics in the treatment of unipolar mood disorders before psychedelics were legally prohibited in the late 1960s. They conducted a search in the PsycINFO and MEDLINE databases, and after thorough screening and examination, the authors included 21 studies, published between 1949 and 1973, in their systematic review. The sample sizes in these studies ranged from 5 to 77, whereas the total sample size across all of the studies was 423 (where it was possible to estimate). The therapeutic paradigms were varied in each of the studies and they employed a range of 1 to 58 sessions with psychedelics. The psychedelic drugs used in these studies were LSD and mescaline in addition to LSD, and the dosages used were varied. The absence of studies that used psilocybin as the psychedelic compound is likely because psilocybin was not isolated and marketed until after 1959, whereas LSD was an established pharmaceutical entity by that time (Hofman et al., 1959). In human erythrocytes, like in most mammal erythrocytes, half of the membrane mass is represented by proteins and the other half are lipids, namely phospholipids and cholesterol.[29] [edit]Membrane lipids [pic] [pic] The most common erythrocyte cell membrane lipids, schematically disposed as they are distributed on the bilayer. Racial Prejudice In Society Gyeongrok (Steve) Byun Professor Hayley Laird English 118 0551 July 20, 2015 Prejudice in Society: A Social Challenge Prejudice is the term referring to the practice of forming an opinion or value of someone or something, in the absence of direct experience of that person or thing (Augoustinos, Walker and Donaghue 225). Prejudice include preformed opinions and views made prior to uncovering of the real facts and knowledge behind the subject from an individual, a group of people, or even the values and beliefs they espouse. In some societies, prejudices have been regarded as pervasive social challenges, serving to separate groups of people and individuals along divisive lies drawn by their different opinions (Rauch 1995). Allowing racial prejudice to continue without any form of intervention would be opening doors to building up animosity and negative tension between involved groups (Augoustinos and Reynolds 244). Using the same example of racial prejudice, it would be apparent that the raised dissimilarities and opinions against either groups will be destructive in terms of building social cognition and cohesion among racial groups (Augoustinos, Walker and Donaghue 226). On the other hand, Rauch advocates for intellectual pluralism with the standpoint that it would provide protection for the vulnerable minority groups. As pointed out in his article on prejudice, pluralism conjectures that there will always exist such prejudices , which should instead be marginalized, exploited, ridiculed, but left alone at the end (Rauch 1995). It is evident that preconceptions and bigotries cannot be eliminated from every corner as presupposed by purist view. Contrary to Rauch s view that suppressing prejudice will be counterproductive, however, measures put across public utilities and institutions are beneficial in curtailing spread of malicious opinions. These include equal employment opportunity extended to all people by public institutions regardless of their racial background. Another effective measure has been the inhibiting of any form of racial utterances, abuse and actions in these institutions, especially violent behavior, motivated by racial hatred with the malicious intent of injuring a person of another race. • 13. Causes And Impacts Of The Restoration Of Coral Reefs And... Seagrasses are essential primary producers that provide habitat and refuge to fauna. Anthropogenic influences have caused global loss of seagrasses and a major contributor is eutrophication, which increases phytoplankton and algal populations, reduces light availability, and causes daily hypoxic conditions. Eutrophication is commonly linked to declines in temperate conditions and is more difficult to link to tropical systems since decreases are typically related to physical damage and diminishing light conditions from runoff. Climate change, herbivore declines, disease and overfishing, along with anthropogenic impacts from coastal development, run off, eutrophication, and aquaculture have caused declines in coralreefs and mangrove systems. These three systems are interconnected and when one system is impacted, secondary impacts are observed in the other systems; coastal ecosystems will be adversely effected and decline. Additional research, conservation, and ways to reduce anthropogenic impacts have been discussed. Restoration is used to reverse habitat loss, although success is varied. Coastal systems and the biological and ecosystem services they provide, may take decades to establish. There are no shortcuts to making this work, it takes time and patience, but what are the important factors? Firstly, understand that e commerce acquires a lot of data. Boosters due to the many they give to the school are given access to the institution and players sometimes in good faith. Some boosters take advantage of this to what they feel as helping the recruiting process by offer money and gifts. The institutions must have control over the supporters access to student athletes to avoid violation of NCAA rules. Is it morally correct for a football player to receive money from a golf player? They are both student athletes and may be facing the same financial hardships. I do not believe that that is correct nor fair. I think if you pay one student athletes they all should receive money. But, also the question arises whether having received a free education is not enough and does the payment of players break the amateur status of student athletes. How Do Genetically Engineered Foods Protect The Environment People opposed to genetically engineered crops believe genetically engineering a crop to have a higher nutritional value will cause problems with a person s diet. They believe people will then disregard other foods besides the new genetically engineered food, and this will cause other health issues. This does not seem likely because genetically engineered crops with enhanced nutritional value are aimed to help people reach a certain daily value of a vitamin or mineral, not to replace a person s whole diet. A person will still have to eat other foods with the new genetically engineered food, however, he or she will not have to eat as much to obtain the correct daily values of their vitamins and minerals. Countries such as Africa, who have a problem with people dying of starvation each year, could really use these kinds of crops. Crops that are genetically engineered to withstand drastic weather conditions and are higher in nutritional value could help Africa have a higher yield of crops to feed the starving children with. The increased nutritional value in these crops would also help the starving children get more of the vitamins and minerals they need to survive. Andrew Robb In the tragedy Antigone many ideas of morals are tossed around through the actions and speeches of the characters Creon and Antigone. Though these morals seem logical at first, it can later be seen that these two characters represent an over fixation on singular ideas, or morals, of life when it is taken to the extreme. This close mindedness ultimately leads to these character s downfalls with Creonrevealing that his moral extreme is the political sphere of life and Antigone, the private sphere holds the truth. She wants to bury her brother, Polynices(Galens). A proper burial for those killed in battle was essential for the Ancient Greeks (Fletcher). To give Polynices his proper burial, she infringes upon her Uncle Creon s laws that specifically forbid her from burying Polynices as he was an enemy of the people. She wishes to follow and interpret the traditions and rituals the divine gods expect, and hence clashes with Creon s governmental status. Through focusing their entire lives to these causes and desires, they have damned themselves to their own demise by being so close minded of the world around them. Creon is a fatigued, wrinkled man enduring the weights of leadership and has now surrendered himself altogether to the throne. First of all, Beowulf considered as a hero because he is capable of sacrificing himself and courage in the name of justice. He is brave, and at the same time, a decent hero. There is no reason to doubt his merits. Forrest Gump is also considered as a hero because he thinks about faith, love, honesty, patriotism. He is a kind person who remained faithful to his family, friends, and his country. He is a man who always carries God in his soul, and lives according to the laws of Christian love to God and to the nearest ones. Both Beowulf and Forrest Gump do things that other people consider impossible. Beowulf and Forrest Gump can be compared as heroes representing their time period and cultures. Beowulf is a medieval heroic epic. The poem originated on the basis of ancient traditions related to pagan times. The poem represent an early example of precisely moral heroism, but not the one that is caused by the desire for fame and power. The main character of the poem, Beowulf, is capable of sacrificing himself and courage in the name of justice. He is a true hero by honoring his country and exerting his power and strength to protect others. His courage is shown by not hesitating to risk his own life to pursue the Dane s enemies. By being self assured, Beowulf is able to successfully defeat the fiends, Grendel and his infamous mother. At the time Beowulf is planning to pursue the vindictive dragon, the epic poem states, I ve never known fear, as a youth I fought in endless battles. I am old now, but I will fight again, seek fame still, If the dragon hiding in his tower dares to face me. (ll. 2511 2515). He feels no fear, is confident in fighting the dragon alone, and has no qualms in risking his life to save others. He declares his bravery by saying, When he comes to me I mean to stand, not run from his shooting flames, stand till fate decides which of us wins... In order to help the audience to seamlessly identify the dream levels where the different stages of the plan were takin g place, Pfister gave each level a particular color tone. The first level, where the abduction takes place, has a fairly neutral tone to it; everything looks normal. The SNAP program is able to help many families have food security, making them able to alleviate many of these issues. Food security becomes an even bigger issue with increasing rates of unemployment. As unemployment rates and need for assistance have been rising, so have participants, with the number of participants rising from 17 million in 2000 to 45 million in 2011 (Karger Stoesz, 2014). • 45. Descriptive Essay On The San Juan Mountains Every place has a taste. My highschool tastes bland, and a little bit like a cracker beginning to go stale. My home tastes like sunlight on autumn leaves. Every place has a taste, but I will never forget the taste of the majesty of the San Juan Mountains. The first time I laid eyes upon the San Juan Mountains, I couldn t believe that I was only a few miles away from the cold desert that is Colorado. The further into the rugged mountain range the highway led me, the more awe and disbelief fell upon me. I felt small, and as if I was the first person to ever discover those hidden valleys that support entire ecosystems of plants and animals. The scattered puffs of cloud above me painted shadows along the razor edged peaks, giving an appearance of a mural, rather than massive chunks of rock carved away by the centuries. I could hear nothing except for the pounding of far off waterfalls and the whispering of the pines, who shared secrets that nobody but they would ever know. I felt like an intruder, and yet welcomed. I was lost, but at home. Around a bend, and out of the blue, there came a town. Even so far from the nearest city, the town was butsling. Main Street was lined with colorful buildings restored from the Victorian era. A two floor hotel, elegant even in it s old age, announced its presence at the corner of an intersection. The stout brick walls stood fortified, defying the valley winds. The occasional house could be seen through the tightly packed boutiques, shops, and art galleries. A vicious game of volleyball had commenced, and more people were flocking to the net even in the second it took to drive past. Eventually, the quaint Main Street ended, and the highway led the car through several switchbacks that twisted up the side of the valley. At the top, a weather worn sign named the town Ouray , and the sight below was one to behold. Ouray spread through the bowl formed when rivers and mountains collide, spreading to the edges until not a shed more could ve been built. But the highway kept leading, and the car kept ... • 46. Horror Film Cinematography Aficionados Analysis Horror Film cinematography aficionados seems more specific than the broad topic of the genre horror, which includes, books, poetry, movies, thrill rides and events. Therefore I want to take a different approach than my outline by specifying such a broad topic. To be more specific my essay would not only include the Horror filmas one of my discourse communities but also will include how it relates into my major psychology. This includes excerpts/references from a book called Psychological Reflections on Cinematic Terror that I rented in the UCF library which consists of an analysis on historical perspectives on the horror archetypes. With this in mind I plan on explaining how certain events can become stimulants in a persons brain that can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
