The Importance Of Vaccines In Schools
Hastings Wagamon
Eng. Comp. 1
Dr. Burke

Vaccines in Schools
Vaccines are the best, cost effective way to prevent large outbreaks of diseases. Vaccines save
millions of lives each year. It is estimated that vaccines save around six to nine million people a
year (Lee Scheffler, Rosenthal, 2016). Without strong vaccinerules among children in schools, it
increases the risk of all children, decreases herd immunity, and endangers overall community health.
Vaccines are the most efficient way to preventing diseases all over the world. Vaccines date all the
way back to the 1800s when Edward Jenner created the first vaccine for smallpox (Kim, 2014).
Overtime vaccines have spread all over the world, and have become a major role in decreasing
outbreaks in deadly diseases (Lee, Scheffer Rosenthal, 2016). The more people who have been
vaccinated in one area results in a large decrease in the outbreak of disease. Therefore, this
causes less spending in public health, due to the decreases number of people with deadly diseases
entering hospitals. The first law mandating vaccines for the public was in Britain in 1840 (Kim,
2014). Vaccines have caused deadly diseases such as smallpox to be completely eradicated (Lee,
Scheffers, Rosenthal, 2016).
Furthermore, many schools in certain states are changing their rules, but some need a little more
work. As of March 2008, all states permitted medical exemptions from school immunization
requirements, 48 states allowed

The Importance Of Employee Empowerment
Employee empowerment is important, even if you believe in a traditional type of employee
management. Empowerment of your employees has the ability to turn your organization around
and make it more successful than it previously was. In some organizations employee empowerment
is absolutely needed. They type of organizations that need employee empowerment are basically
any business that has employees who have to work together as a team. Empowerment also does not
just mean to ask your employees their opinion, empowerment of your employees means to not only
seek their opinions but implement them as well(Goetsch Davis, 2014). To gain approval from
management, I would first highlight why I believe it would be beneficial for the organization. I
would put dramatic emphasis on why I feel every employee should feel empowered. Employees
who are empowered are employees who value their position and actually work harder to meet their
goals(Goetsch Davis,2014). After I stated the importance need for having an empowerment
overhaul with our employees, I would then zone in on the things that keep the organization
operational.
Employee empowerment gives the organization the opportunity to get the information from
employees that deal within the organization all day. The employees know what needs to be changed
in order for things to run more smoothly. Showing management that employee empowerment can
grow their business while at the same time making their employees feel valued is important.

Arguments Against MMR Vaccines
A young mother noted it is God s will if my child dies from measles or other infectious disease,
but I will not forgive myself if my child gets Autism after I allow him to be vaccinate. I will feel
that I did not protect my child from the harmful effects of the MMR vaccine. This religious believe
about disease and fate seems to be a recurrent theme in the participants response and many believe
the MMR vaccineis different because they are letting their children to receive a harmful vaccine,
which they noted will hang in their consciousness, if it harms their child.

Moon Landing Conspiracy And Its Effects On The World Essay
Moon Landing Conspiracy
The United States and Mankind have gone on to do many amazing feats that were once though
impossible. However, nothing comes to be quite as amazing as the Apollo 11 mission that landed
the first men on the surface of the moon. At the time this act caused widespread celebration, and
cheer. Over the years some people started to doubt the legitimacy of what occurred on that day
back in 1969. These people came on to form the basis of the moon landing conspiracy theory. A
theory that states that the United States never landed on the moon and the United States faked
the whole thing in order to say they won the space race against the Soviet Union and increase
moral during the time of the Cold war. Some of the core arguments that form the Moon landing
Hoax conspiracy are that the mission would have been too dangerous with the technology we had
at the time. They disregard any footage from the event, believing that NASA and the US
government created a fake set in an undisclosed location and used special effects to make the
footage seem more believable. All of the claims made by these hoax believers can be refuted with
science and common sense, and that is what this paper sets out to do.
The Apollo missions were huge efforts that required thousands of scientists, workers and
contractors to come together. So how is it that thousands of people can come together to create
what was a fake mission without one person coming forward and leaking the fact that all of

Great Gatsby Film Analysis
The Great Gatsby film shows a strong atmosphere and the soundtrack is perfectly combined with a
script that despite being able to be topical, just winning the game to what we believe will be pure
routine film. 3D for this adaption of The Great Gatsby, although modern, is unnecessary. 9 out of 10
star rating? I think yes!
The tempo of the story is true success, and Leonardo DiCaprio, spotless, we enter into a New
York post war fantastically. Moreover, the dialogues are superb, and above all, they are no better
than Tobey Maguire. Australian screenwriter, producer and director Baz Luhrmann s fifth feature
film which he co wrote with Australian screenwriter Craig Pearce and co produced, is an
adaptation of a novel from 1925 by American author F. Scott Fitzgerald.
The Great Gatsby, set in New York 1922, is narrated by Nick Carraway (Tobey Maguire), and is a
story about the millionaire Jay Gatsby (Leonardo DiCaprio), who desperately tries to recover the
one person he ever loved, Daisy Buchanan (Carey Mulligan). She is married somewhat happily
to Tom Buchanan (Joel Edgerton), also another very rich fellow. The other characters consist of
professional golfer Jordan Baker (Elizabeth Dibicki), Tom Wilson (Jason Clarke), a gas station
owner, and his wife Myrtle (Isla Fisher.) When Nick moves next door to Gatsby in West Egg, he
is eventually invited to one Gatsby s famous parties and the story takes off. For those of you who

Mozart Vs America
The Romantic and Classical period was full of religious revivals and lighter colors from the
Classical period while having sharp feelings from the Romantic period. During the late 1700s,
many famous composers and artists created their works and followed these guidelines. Francisco
Goya and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart were born ten years apart but created their famous pieces
around the same times in Europe. The time was between the Romantic period for art and the
Classical periods for music. The visual art came abroad and were published. During Europe,
there were many people who have developed more interests in the fine arts and have spent
countless hours to master subjects. Both Mozart and Goya having their famous works were
influenced by the time periods and living in Europe, it showed the strong feelings of music with
Mozart s work and the deep dark colors of Goya. History was filled with many events that altered
how the artists and musicians would play and paint. Francisco Goya was born in Fuendetodos,
Spain in 1746 and was living in some of the poorest areas of Spain because The Spanish king was
spending most of Spain s money on wars, and the rest went to the king s greedy, rich friends. He
started his career of art at age twelve. He moved to Zaragoza to learn from other artists. He showed
more development and moved to several other areas in Spain like Madrid working for his living.

Freedom And African American History Essay
Freedom And African American History 1 XIN LI The United States is a immigrant country,
which faces varieties of problems. The African American problem is one of the most serious one.
Racial segregation is a deep rooted social problem, which reflects in every field in the United
States. For example, education, labor market and criminal justice system. In the aspect of
education, most of black children were not permitted to enter the school, because the white children
studied there. In the aspect of labor market, the black peoples average wages were lower than the
whites. They did the manual work. In the aspect of criminal justice system, the blacks were
easily in jail. Badly, their sentences were also more serious than the whites. In general, the blacks
live in the bottom of the American society. Martin Luther King delivered the famous speech I
Have a Dream, I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they
will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. (1) However, it
was difficult for African Americanto get the freedom. The 1776 Declaration of Independence
announced that everyone are equal and freedom. But black slavery still occurred in the southern
states of America. Then the Civil War broke out, African American kept struggling for land and
political rights.

Essay On Spina Bifida
In Canada, a clinical study by De Wals et al was performed to assess whether or not folic acid
fortification has an effect on the recurrence of NTDs (neural tube defects), especially on upper and
lower birth defects called spina bifida (De Wals et al., 2008). The study was performed in three
different regions in Canada: the eastern, western and central provinces (De Wals et al., 2008).
Furthermore, the population of the study was conducted on three different types of births which
were livebirths, stillbirths, and termination of pregnancies, and the study was carried out through
three periods included prefortification, partial fortification and full fortifications (De Wals et al.,
2008). The researchers followed the scientific investigation... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The researchers depended on birth defects statistics which can be found in medical record to
support their results about the effect of folic acid fortification on NTDs (Chen et al., 2008).
This data showed that although there was a declining in NTDs prevalence in prefortification,
the NTDs prevalence did not continue to decline in postfortifcation (Chen et al., 2008). Hence,
this study s results conflict with the results of De Wals et al s study which claimed that folic
acid fortification decreases the NTDs prevalence after the full fortification period (De Wals et
al., 2008). Another study was conducted in Chile by Cortes et al, and this study s aim was
similar to De Wals et al s aim which was whether there is an impact of folic acid fortification on
NTDs prevalence or not (Cortes et al., 2012). The researchers held an observation program in a
specific hospital to detect the rate of occurrence of NTDs in stillbirths and livebirths (Cortes et al.,
2012). The researchers showed that total NTDs prevalence decreased from prefortification period
to postfortification period, and the reduction of spina bifida was about 52% in postfortification
(Cortes et al., 2012). Therefore, this study is one of the studies that

The Impact Of U.s. Economy On The Housing Crisis
In 2008, the National Bureau of Economic Research publicized that the U.S. Economy had entered
into a recession. The overall agreement of what was the primary cause of this recession was the
credit crisis from the bursting of the housing bubble. This lead the U.S. into the worst recession in
over sixty years (Holt).
The decade before the 2008 crisis, showed the development of a key factor that would later
contribute to the crisis. It was the dramatic increase in aggregate households indebtedness that had
become so severe in the United States. This large growth in household indebtedness was a direct
result in large by the significant and sustained expansion in residential mortgage lending. With the
growth in the residential mortgage ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another economist by the name of Thomas Sowell stressed that the government s role in creating
the housing bubble. With the housing markets that had the largest home price increases were often
markets that the local government had forced land use restrictions on the amount of land available
for housing. Having relaxed mortgage lending standards were mainly the result of being
government influenced (Russo). During the 2008 recession, the Federal Housing Administration
increased its insurance activity to keep money flowing into the market. Without this government
agency s backing, it would have been much more challenging for the middle class to get a home
loan from the start of the recession (Griffith). A few large financial firms experienced financial
stress during the 2008 Recession and in response, the Federal Reserve provided the liquidity and
support through a variety of programs motivated to help the functions of financial markets and
institutions, and in effect limit the damage done to the U.S. economy. The Federal Reserve had
provided record amounts of monetary accommodation in response to the severity of the reduction
and the gradual return of the ensuing recovery. Finally, the financial crisis caused major reforms in
banking and financial regulation, which included congressional legislation that significantly
affected the Federal Reserve. One example is the

Information Based Medicine ( Ebm )
A Health intervention is an effort that promotes behaviour that optimizes mental and physical
health, or discourages or re frames behaviours considered to be potentially health threatening. So,
Evidence based medicine(EBM) is not the only but the best approach to health interventions as it
emphasizes the use of evidence from well designed and conducted research in healthcare decision
making. EBM is regarded as the gold standard of clinical practice. The term evidence based
medicine, as it is currently used, has two main tributaries. Chronologically, the first is the insistence
on explicit evaluation of evidence of effectiveness when issuing clinical practice guidelines and
other population level policies. The second is the introduction of epidemiological methods into
medical education and individual patient level decision making.
Evidence based medicine (EBM) is the process of systematically reviewing, appraising and using
clinical research findings to aid the delivery of optimum clinical care to patients.
EBM is the practice of solving the clinical problems in one s practice by judicious and systematic
use of the medical literature. This includes framing questions rightly and searching the right kind of
literature. Thereafter, the available evidence needs to be evaluated for the validity, strength and
effect size. Finally, the results are examined for applicability to the current problem which requires
a detailed knowledge of the clinical setting, patient

The Man He Killed By Thomas Hardy Figurative Language
The poem The Man He Killed by Thomas Hardy is symbolic of the subtle conflicted effects
brought about as a result of war. And the speaker in the poem is a classic example of someone
who is trying to cope with conflicting memories of what if? What if he had not gone to war and
killed a man? What if he had met the man under different circumstances? Had he and I but met
/By some old ancient inn/we should have sat us down to wet (lines 1 3). Imagery plays an
important role at this point in the poem because the speaker conveys that the same man he killed
in war, he would have been able to sit down and have a drink with him in totally different
surroundings. The most important question, therefore, being asked by the speaker is whether or not
this man that he killed could have possibly been his friend instead of foe had they not... Show more

The soldier accepts why he had to kill a man, yet he struggles with whether or not his actions
during a time of war were justifiable. If not, then is he supposed to accept it because society has
sanctioned it for the better good of the commonwealth? Scott 2 The casual colloquial language
used by the speaker leaves the impression that he and his foe shared common backgrounds; Off
hand like just as I /Was out of work had sold his traps (14 15). He identifies with the other man.
They were probably both unemployed and the man he killed more than likely joined the army
for the same reasons. They both had no other option. The speaker is certainly trying to come to
terms with killing a man. And the use of repetition helps him to try and convince himself that he
did the right thing. I shot at him as he at me,/And killed him in his place (7 8); I shot him dead
because Because he was my foe (9 10). Standing face to face with his foe left him no choice but to

The Language Of Hong Kong
Hong Kong is a city located on the southern coast of China with more than 90% of its population
being ethnic Chinese. Cantonese, English and Mandarin are three commonly used languages in
Hong Kong. With the return of sovereignty from Britain to China, Hong Kong shifts from a British
colony into a special administrative region of China. Due to this historical background, Hong Kong
has experienced significant changes in social, political and economic aspects over the past few
decades. The use of languages in Hong Kong is no exception. These three languages play
different roles and serve different functions over time. This paper is designed to give a broad
overview on the language used in Hong Kong. It begins with a brief introduction of Hong Kong s
social, economic and political background, then goes on to investigate the changing status and roles
of three languages in the government, business and mass media sector and discuss people s
attitudes towards the languages over time. The paper concludes with a summary of the change of
language.
1.Hong Kong s social, economic and political background
Hong Kong was once a British colony under the Treaty of Nanjing after the first Opium War in
1842. It was handed over to China on 1 July 1997 and becomes a Special Administrative Region

On the other hand, if the result came as abnormal, it does not mean that you have cancer. It
indicates that there are abnormal cells on your cervix, and some of which could indeed be
cancerous. Depending on your result, the doctor may suggest taking a few more tests in order to
give further diagnosis.
Pap tests are very precise and accurate, plus, Pap screenings lower the probability of having
cervical cancer and mortality by 80 percent. Similar to a lot of medical testing, the procedure may

Christianity And Disobedience
Disobedience, Deliverance, Destruction. After the death of Joshua, the men of Judah and Joseph
conquered their territory and drove out the Canaanites, being obedient, but all the other tribes did
not. This signified a lack of trust in the Lord to fight their battles and was disobedient. Destroying
idols was a part of the covenant and most of Israel did not do this and God cursed them. Because
they had not destroyed the Canaanites, they would forever be in tension with them. The Israelites
repented of their sins, but the curse still was in place. One generation after the death of Joshua did

Deborah was a prophetess and she told Barak to attack the king, Sisera, and his army because the
Lord was with him. But Barak was afraid and cowardly. He did not trust God, and because of this
Deborah went with him. Then later Sisera was killed by Jael, another woman because God
would not give Barak the glory of killing the king because Barak had not trusted him. The
cowardice of the men shows the lawlessness and ungodliness of the generation. Midian oppressed
Israel, and yet again a judge is called, but Gideon is cowardly as well and God has to prove to
him over and over again that God should be trusted and obeyed. In the end of his life, Gideon
also made an ephod which in turn all of Israel worshiped. Though it does not say Gideon did, he
also did not dissuade people and in the end, Gideon was not honored. The godlessness of the

Boccaccio is the first male writer functioning as a spokesman for women by writing this work
especially for women, defending women to have the rights of enjoying sexual pleasure,
demanding the equal rights shared by men and women both at home and in society, and
requesting free love for women. Boccaccio says Heaven would indeed be heaven if lovers were
there permitted as much enjoyment as they had experienced , earth . Boccaccio in the introduction
of his story bespeaks to women: Whenever, fairest women, I pause to consider how compassionate
you all are by nature. (Boccaccio, 148). Giuseppe Mazzotta, in his study, The World at Play in

Tobias Foster Gittes says that: Boccaccio s ideal society is not an orgiastic colony dedicated to
serving the senses nor is it found on the upper reaches of Mount Asinaio where Filippo Balducci
preaches his austere creed of abstinence from all worldly pleasures . (Gittes,29) Marilyn Migiel
asserts that: Boccaccio provides women with the opportunity to speak their desire but the voice of
female desire appears to emerge more clearly when female desire is consistent with male desire .
The centrality of sexual difference is emphasized through the gendering of the narrators in
Boccaccio s masterpiece, which depicts how social and discursive power is divided between sexes.
The fictional storytellers of the Decameron are marked by their gender and by their express views
on sexuality and sexual difference .(Migiel,82) Migiel makes the case that the stories also Appear

severe limits placed on the way in which women can speak out .

Corporate Culture Into Talent Management
GE and Berkshire Hathaway
When it comes to articulating one company that has been excellent in aligning human capital with
strategy is GE. T Mobile can find an excellent example of GE s six principles identified as the key
to their success. These include: Aligning recruiting efforts with strategy; making sure the company
s talent management practices fit with each other; making deliberate effort to embed corporate
culture into talent management processes such as hiring methods and leadership development;
getting involvement by managers at all levels, including the CEO; Figuring out the best balance of
the company s global and local needs; and Finding ways to differentiate the company from its
competitors (Brokaw, 2012). According to CEO Jeffrey Immelt, the company s talent management
system is its most powerful implementation too.
Berkshire Hathaway is another organization noted for having an excellent talent management plan.
Socialization is what Noe (2013) describes as the process of helping new hires adjust to social and

talent management strategy which is inclusive of socialization can allow a company competitive

Musa Keita I became emperor following the death of his predecessor, Abu Bakr II. When he was

He was a devoted Muslim and built many schools based on the teachings of the Quran, there is
also a saying that every Friday when he stopped, while on his Hajj, he ordered a Mosque to be

Africa. But how did Mansa Musa become such a devoted Muslim? Pastoral North Africans called
Berbers had longed traded with West African with the Berbers offering salt for West African gold.
West African gold for salt may seem like a bad trade however salt is very important to the human
body because without salt, we die. The Berbers were early converts to Islam and Islam spread along
those pre existing trade routes between North and South Africa. The first converts in Mali were
traders who benefited from having a religious as well as a commercial connection in the North and
the rest of the Mediterranean. The kings in the North and East then followed the traders thinking it
would give them prestige. Islam then became the religion of the elites of West Africawhich meant
the Muslim kings were trying to extend their power over largely non Muslim populations which
worshipped traditional African Gods and spirits. As a devout Muslim he took a particular interest

Flashbacks In The Movie Deadpool
Flashbacks are one of the biggest metafictional elements shown in the movie Deadpool.
Throughout the movie these flashbacks help the audience understand who Wade Wilson was and
how he became Deadpool. Another metafictional element used in this movie is breaking the
fourth wall. Deadpool often talks directly to the audience, almost as if he is pausing the movie to
chat. There are multiple fictional characters that have supernatural abilities. Some of these
characters are heroes and others are villains. Finally, there is a non linear structure to the movie.
Flashbacks help develop the character throughout the movie. At the beginning of the movie we
are introduced to Deadpool, not Wade Wilson. Through flashbacks, we soon learn his past and
how he has become this superhero Deadpool. We see the romance between Wade and Vanessa
develop, as well as how Wade makes his living as a mercenary and meet his best friend Weasel.
After Wade proposes to his girlfriend Vanessa, he is diagnosed with stage four cancer.

the harsh reality and the cruelty of the Nazis. When Guido hides GiosuГ© in the box, the father

Oppression In The Yellow Wallpaper And Reunion
Oppression is a theme commonly found in literary texts, which is best defined as an unjust or
excessive exercise of power. For instance, Charlotte Perkins Gilman s The Yellow Wallpaper
illustrates oppression through the tragic story of a woman s descent into madness as a result of her
husband s dominance over her. Additionally, John Cheever s Reunion illustrates the act of
oppression in a son s narration of his reunion with his pompous father. Although The Yellow
Wallpaperand Reunion offer different storylines, both literary texts demonstrate how
submissiveness can result in strained relationships and a character s destruction. In the story, The

saw him I felt that he was my father, my flesh and blood, my future....I knew that when I was
grown I would be something like him; I would have to plan my campaigns within his limitations.
He was a big, good looking man, and I was terribly happy to see him again. As the story goes on,
Charlie s expectations of his father are shattered upon realizing the struggle to try to salvage what is
clearly a strained relationship. Throughout Charlie s narration, it becomes apparent that the primary
reason behind the strained relationship is his father s oppressive nature. Immediately upon their
reunion, the father demonstrated an excessive exercise of power by patronizing the waiters in the
restaurants he attended with Charlie, I have a whistle that is audible only to the ears of old waiters.
Now, take out your little pad and your little pencil and see if you can get this straight: two Beefeater
Gibsons. Repeat after me: two Beefeater Gibsons. In addition, the father demonstrated a sense of
superiority through his boastful use of foreign words and ill mannered behavior, Well, the hell with
you. Vada all inferno. Due to his desperate attempt to impress Charlie by unjustifiably commanding
those around him, the father diminishes his chance of a healthy relationship with his son. Although
the father offered a small consolation towards the end of his reunion, it is evident that his
oppressive nature shattered his son s mindset of building a healthy relationship with

A balmy smell lingered in the humid air, mixing with the scent of damp earth. Flowers were dotted

The Sniper And The Man He Killed
Wars never hurt anybody except for the people who died Salvador Dali, leader of the Surrealist

man who are known as their foes. Both of the men realize that the man they killed could ve been a
friend, and were someone who really wasn t the enemy. The relationship between these two stories
is that war can tear families apart. In Liam O Flahertys The Sniper and The Man He Killed by

The similar theme is that war changes people and tears them apart due to the pain and suffering
of the war. Cursing the war, cursing himself, cursing everybody (O Flaherty 208). The quote
helps show that the war may cause you to curse things you never would ve before, like, yourself.
And from the poem He thought he d list perhaps/ Off hand like just as I/ Was out of work, had
sold his traps/ No other reason why (Hardy 16 20). This tells how war can force people to make
erratic decisions, it changes your attitude and morals about any situation including joining the army
and going to war. The differencebetween the two stories is that in The Sniper it turns him against
his family and in The Man He Killed it turned the soldier against his friends. To prove this, Then
the sniper turned over the dead body and looked into his brother s face (O Flaherty, page 208).
Again this tells of the shock the sniper received when he saw it was his brother he had killed.
But in the opposing story Yes, quaint and curious war is!/ You shoot a fellow down/ You d treat
if met where any bar is/ Or help to half a crown (Hardy 17 20). It explains of how he killed a man
that the soldier would have befriended in any other situation. All in all, you can see both the

Yes, the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics is a peer reviewed journal.
2.What is the purpose of this research? 10 points
A common dietetic strategy for reducing energy intake while still maintaining nutritional adequacy
is to replace full fat dairy products with reduced fat varieties. The purpose of this study was to
examine the dietary outcomes of this strategy in the context of weight loss by comparing the
amount, type, and nutrient contribution of dairy products consumed by overweight individuals
participating in a weight loss trial. A secondary aim was to determine whether individuals complied
with a recommended intake of reduced fat dairy product based on individual requirements. The
researchers hypothesized that the intake of fat and energy from dairy products would decrease, and
a greater number of individuals would meet the recommended number of diary product servings
after 3 months of participation in the weight loss trial.

Pros And Cons Of Painkillers
Is the misuse of painkillers worth losing a life? A study was performed in West Virginia looking
at 295 accidental deaths from pain killers and found nearly 2 out of 3 of those who died
overdosed on pain killers, did not have a prescription (Shmerling, 2008). Today in society, there
are many prescription pain killers physicians can choose from to administer to patients.
However, statistics show that the most common narcotic painkillers used are Oxycodone,
Percocet, and Vicodin. The number of people abusing prescription drugs, including opioids,
more than doubled, from 7.8 million in 1992 to 15.1 million in 2003 (Gupta Christo, 2009). The
misuse of prescription painkillers among the general population in the United States is quickly
rising to a state of an epidemic. Many people today take prescription painkillers to help cope with
pain. Even though prescription painkillers can provide relief of excessive pain, the result of taking

Williams, who is the top ranked female tennis player in the world, is nowhere close the best
overall pro. If she played in the world of men s tennis, she d be ranked 700 in the world, said
McEnroe. He also stated that if he ever had the chance to he could beat Williams in a match,
though he said he doesn t really want to do it. Garcia Navarro became curious: You really think at
60, you could possibly beat Serena Williams?
McEnroe qualified his statement: Maybe I should challenge her now because she s pregnant.

Fifty years later, in 1973 one of the largest televised matches in history happened. According to
from an article written in 2013, Jesse Greenspan recapped, On September 20th, 1973, Billie Jean
King was known all around the world as ranked no.1 women s tennis player. At 55 years old, a
tennis legend named Bobby Riggs stated he could beat any women player. King was up for the
challenge, and the way Riggs got ready was to make rude and unnecessary comments. Jesse
Greenspan recalled, Riggs made things more interesting by saying rude comments, including that
the best way to handle a woman is to keep her pregnant and barefoot. Before the match took place,
the comment made about how to handle a woman wasn t right. He was saying how women only
should be used to make children and follow their husbands. After the match, however, those things
no longer apply. This match really made women become somewhat recognizable in the sports
industry. For Billie Jean King to stand up to a man that was being arrogant showed she had a lot of
courage, but before the match, those things said we not right. Now, there is a movie being made
about this incident and tells you how the match began. This problem has not stopped yet because
there are several statistics that in

Hurricanes And Tornadoes
Tornadoes and Hurricanes
For a start, much damage comes from hurricanes and tornadoes, but they cause tons of damage
like lifting up a house or picking up other things that are super heavy you wouldn t imagine. A
tornado and a hurricane can reach up to 5 wind speeds or 6EFs causing a house to lift up just
leaving the pavement. That s very serious and strong for a storm. These two types of storms have
interesting elements, like how much it takes to repair, how many of these storms hit each year, and
the variety of sizes the tornadoes get up to. These two types of storms are very interesting to learn
about and you might want to know a few things about them.
Beginning, I have been in a tornado and it wasn t fun, it was very scary. Firstly, tornadoes and
hurricanes cost over millions of dollars to repair for a house or a garage. A hurricane can cost up to
15 billion dollars to put into repair and tornadoes can cost up to 500 million. Secondly, according to
Hurricanes in the U.S, hurricanes killed over 1000 people and roughly 100 billion dollars in
damage. In Hurricanes in the U.S over 1000 people in 2005 were killed and over 100 billion dollars
to repair in damage. Next, tornadoes are very ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

according to Size Versus Impact, or how much to put into repair and damage , and having more

unique. Some other interesting facts about hurricanes and tornadoes are that they can be up to 500
miles wide and nine miles tall. Then tornadoes can only be a few miles wide, but they have variety
of sizes. That s all some interesting facts that I shared with you about hurricanes and tornadoes and

Parenting In Amy Chua s Why Chinese Mothers Are Superior
Some may think that parenting is easy and some think that parenting is difficult. Parenting can
be difficult due to how it takes a lot of time. However, it becomes easy once a child learns. It is
important to be a good parent for a child because that way a child builds his or her
understandings of life in general. A child is raised by good parents because they are like good
mentors. Good parents will help raise and guide their children to success. A child is raised
successful once it develops the ability to imagine according to Alison Gopnik in Possible
Worlds as well as develop the ability to discover ideas from conversations according to Sherry
Turkle in The Empathy Diaries . However, Amy Chua in Why Chinese Mothers are Superior
believes that it is best to raise their children to succession using threats. Well some may say that
Chua s use of threats is great for children to understand about life, but personally, it only hurts a
child. Her use of threats and aggression only creates a bad environment for children to live in. It
may cause children to feel shameful about themselves at times. Most likely, a child who is raised
with such harshness will develop bad character which places them in a bad area. It becomes
more important for a child to be raised by good parents who provide them with good care and
safety that way a child happily lives successfully. Parents should raise their child in a way where
he or she is put into a happier environment so that confidence is

The Culture Of African Music And Early African American...
The earliest recorded time there was music in African culture would be only when royalty was
around. With the king s arrival there would be beats of drums following the announcement of his
arrival. Also for gatherings the king would have musicians play when desired. Music was
considered be something that help mend the pain, something that could feel the empty void slaves
had, something that could only express with their tears could no longer do. Music had many roles
in African Americanculture, from someone getting married to just singing about your daily life.
They also used music for communication which was called the call and response. Call and
response is when you have one person who is the soloist sing some thing and then there is a
corresponding voice or voices who then echoes the soloist. Another form of communication the
slaves had were drums, until they were banned because white slave masters began to get paranoid
about a slave riot.
Early African American culture brought their culture where ever they traveled while they were
slaves. This lead to the reason why Caucasian slave masters tried to limit the expression of what
the African Americans could do. To many Caucasian people during this time had various opinions
about how this type of behavior is so far from the norm. Early African American people used to use
music to escape the threshold of slavery. They would do this for various occasions such as
marriage, death, birth and puberty. To get the rhythmic beats and

A Brief Note On Apathy And The Death Of The Road
Apathy
Imagine you are driving down the road late to work. On the side of the road you see that two
cars have been in a serious accident. You almost pull over, when you remember how late you are
for work. So instead, you keep driving telling yourself that someone else who has more time will
stop and help them. When you finally arrive at work, you see that a homeless woman is sitting
near the building you work at asking for money. You re already seventeen minutes late for work,
and you don t have time to dig out your wallet and find spare change. Plus, the woman could just
be manipulating people into thinking she s homeless to get money, so why help her and waste your
money on someone you can t guarantee needs the help? Other people can ... Show more content on

So when a teenager acts out in apathetic defiance saying I don t care about my grades, and I m not
fixing them because school sucks their brains are processing the future actions they can take to fix
their grades next term instead of dwelling on what their current grades are. While their parents
brains are processing this information on a much higher thinking level, taking their person
experiences, guilt for not pushing their child harder, and feeling bad for their child and their poor
grades into account. However the parent s perspective on this issue can come across as overbearing,
causing the teen to resort to an even more apathetic defiance, thus making the situation worse.
Another example of this is with apathy as a pretense. For example when people use apathy to push
their feelings away. Instead of communicating, sometimes people choose to resort to not
communicating because they just don t care anymore and they don t want to make the situation
worse. However in doing so, the lack of communication makes things more complicated, leading to
even more chaos and arguments then there were in the first place, making it harder and harder to
care as things get more complicated. Now if you mix this in with the different opinions your brains
form, then each family member is going to be holding onto their

Essay about Sam Phillips, the Father of Rock and Roll
Rock and Roll has come a long way since 1952 when music business icon Sam Phillips created it.
Sam Phillips is considered the father of Rock and Roll. He went against the social normality of
segregated music, and produced music that he felt should be made. Even when faced with career
ending criticism, Phillips continued on making history. Not only is Sam Phillipsresponsible for the
being the origin of the seemingly everlasting Rock and Rollmovement, he segregated music amidst
all kinds of cultural disruption with civil rights. Sam Phillips is considered a musical revolutionary
who, despite adversity, changed the world forever.
Samuel Cornelius Phillips was born in 1923 in Florence, Alabama to a family of tenant farmers

Elvis Presley was signed to Sun Records in 1954. This was monumental for Phillips s stand on
racial boundaries in music. Elvis drew national attention to Sun Records which, in part, sparked
slight popularity for other Sun artists such as Howlin Wolf, B.B. King, and Roscoe Gordon
(Sun Records 1). This point in time is known as the origin of Rock and Roll. Contrary to what
Rock and Roll is now, it was only popular within a certain demographic of people for a long time
Furthermore, Sun Records and Sam Phillips went under fire by local radio stations and parents
everywhere. Phillips s creation, Rock and Roll, caused an outrage. It was seen as provocative
towards young people, which was its most popular demographic. Music from artists such as Elvis,
King, and Gordon were banned from radio stations and televisions (Impact of Rock Roll on USA
5). Criticism from other well known music moguls didn t stop Sam. Nevertheless, Phillips kept on
putting out influential, black music. Despite the hardening Civil Rights movement in the 1950 s,
songs by African Americanartists slowly became extremely popular. In 1958, the first black artist
reached the top of the billboard hot 100. This marked the climax of Phillip s goal to make popular
music from an unpopular race. Sam Phillips s persistence on creating popular black records and the
equality protests go hand in hand. The exposure of the protests and music gave new

  • 2. The Importance Of Vaccines In Schools Hastings Wagamon Eng. Comp. 1 Dr. Burke 12/5/2017 Vaccines in Schools Vaccines are the best, cost effective way to prevent large outbreaks of diseases. Vaccines save millions of lives each year. It is estimated that vaccines save around six to nine million people a year (Lee Scheffler, Rosenthal, 2016). Without strong vaccinerules among children in schools, it increases the risk of all children, decreases herd immunity, and endangers overall community health. Vaccines are the most efficient way to preventing diseases all over the world. Vaccines date all the way back to the 1800s when Edward Jenner created the first vaccine for smallpox (Kim, 2014). Overtime vaccines have spread all over the world, and have become a major role in decreasing outbreaks in deadly diseases (Lee, Scheffer Rosenthal, 2016). The more people who have been vaccinated in one area results in a large decrease in the outbreak of disease. Therefore, this causes less spending in public health, due to the decreases number of people with deadly diseases entering hospitals. The first law mandating vaccines for the public was in Britain in 1840 (Kim, 2014). Vaccines have caused deadly diseases such as smallpox to be completely eradicated (Lee, Scheffers, Rosenthal, 2016). Furthermore, many schools in certain states are changing their rules, but some need a little more work. As of March 2008, all states permitted medical exemptions from school immunization requirements, 48 states allowed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Importance Of Employee Empowerment Employee empowerment is important, even if you believe in a traditional type of employee management. Empowerment of your employees has the ability to turn your organization around and make it more successful than it previously was. In some organizations employee empowerment is absolutely needed. They type of organizations that need employee empowerment are basically any business that has employees who have to work together as a team. Empowerment also does not just mean to ask your employees their opinion, empowerment of your employees means to not only seek their opinions but implement them as well(Goetsch Davis, 2014). To gain approval from management, I would first highlight why I believe it would be beneficial for the organization. I would put dramatic emphasis on why I feel every employee should feel empowered. Employees who are empowered are employees who value their position and actually work harder to meet their goals(Goetsch Davis,2014). After I stated the importance need for having an empowerment overhaul with our employees, I would then zone in on the things that keep the organization operational. Employee empowerment gives the organization the opportunity to get the information from employees that deal within the organization all day. The employees know what needs to be changed in order for things to run more smoothly. Showing management that employee empowerment can grow their business while at the same time making their employees feel valued is important. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I will feel that I did not protect my child from the harmful effects of the MMR vaccine. This religious believe about disease and fate seems to be a recurrent theme in the participants response and many believe the MMR vaccineis different because they are letting their children to receive a harmful vaccine, which they noted will hang in their consciousness, if it harms their child. • 5. Moon Landing Conspiracy And Its Effects On The World Essay Moon Landing Conspiracy The United States and Mankind have gone on to do many amazing feats that were once though impossible. However, nothing comes to be quite as amazing as the Apollo 11 mission that landed the first men on the surface of the moon. At the time this act caused widespread celebration, and cheer. Over the years some people started to doubt the legitimacy of what occurred on that day back in 1969. These people came on to form the basis of the moon landing conspiracy theory. A theory that states that the United States never landed on the moon and the United States faked the whole thing in order to say they won the space race against the Soviet Union and increase moral during the time of the Cold war. Some of the core arguments that form the Moon landing Hoax conspiracy are that the mission would have been too dangerous with the technology we had at the time. They disregard any footage from the event, believing that NASA and the US government created a fake set in an undisclosed location and used special effects to make the footage seem more believable. All of the claims made by these hoax believers can be refuted with science and common sense, and that is what this paper sets out to do. The Apollo missions were huge efforts that required thousands of scientists, workers and contractors to come together. So how is it that thousands of people can come together to create what was a fake mission without one person coming forward and leaking the fact that all of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Great Gatsby Film Analysis The Great Gatsby film shows a strong atmosphere and the soundtrack is perfectly combined with a script that despite being able to be topical, just winning the game to what we believe will be pure routine film. 3D for this adaption of The Great Gatsby, although modern, is unnecessary. 9 out of 10 star rating? I think yes! The tempo of the story is true success, and Leonardo DiCaprio, spotless, we enter into a New York post war fantastically. Moreover, the dialogues are superb, and above all, they are no better than Tobey Maguire. Australian screenwriter, producer and director Baz Luhrmann s fifth feature film which he co wrote with Australian screenwriter Craig Pearce and co produced, is an adaptation of a novel from 1925 by American author F. Scott Fitzgerald. The Great Gatsby, set in New York 1922, is narrated by Nick Carraway (Tobey Maguire), and is a story about the millionaire Jay Gatsby (Leonardo DiCaprio), who desperately tries to recover the one person he ever loved, Daisy Buchanan (Carey Mulligan). She is married somewhat happily to Tom Buchanan (Joel Edgerton), also another very rich fellow. The other characters consist of professional golfer Jordan Baker (Elizabeth Dibicki), Tom Wilson (Jason Clarke), a gas station owner, and his wife Myrtle (Isla Fisher.) When Nick moves next door to Gatsby in West Egg, he is eventually invited to one Gatsby s famous parties and the story takes off. During the late 1700s, many famous composers and artists created their works and followed these guidelines. Francisco Goya and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart were born ten years apart but created their famous pieces around the same times in Europe. The time was between the Romantic period for art and the Classical periods for music. The visual art came abroad and were published. During Europe, there were many people who have developed more interests in the fine arts and have spent countless hours to master subjects. Both Mozart and Goya having their famous works were influenced by the time periods and living in Europe, it showed the strong feelings of music with Mozart s work and the deep dark colors of Goya. History was filled with many events that altered how the artists and musicians would play and paint. Francisco Goya was born in Fuendetodos, Spain in 1746 and was living in some of the poorest areas of Spain because The Spanish king was spending most of Spain s money on wars, and the rest went to the king s greedy, rich friends. The African American problem is one of the most serious one. Racial segregation is a deep rooted social problem, which reflects in every field in the United States. For example, education, labor market and criminal justice system. In the aspect of education, most of black children were not permitted to enter the school, because the white children studied there. In the aspect of labor market, the black peoples average wages were lower than the whites. They did the manual work. In the aspect of criminal justice system, the blacks were easily in jail. Badly, their sentences were also more serious than the whites. In general, the blacks live in the bottom of the American society. Martin Luther King delivered the famous speech I Have a Dream, I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. • 9. Essay On Spina Bifida In Canada, a clinical study by De Wals et al was performed to assess whether or not folic acid fortification has an effect on the recurrence of NTDs (neural tube defects), especially on upper and lower birth defects called spina bifida (De Wals et al., 2008). The study was performed in three different regions in Canada: the eastern, western and central provinces (De Wals et al., 2008). Furthermore, the population of the study was conducted on three different types of births which were livebirths, stillbirths, and termination of pregnancies, and the study was carried out through three periods included prefortification, partial fortification and full fortifications (De Wals et al., 2008). The researchers followed the scientific investigation... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The researchers depended on birth defects statistics which can be found in medical record to support their results about the effect of folic acid fortification on NTDs (Chen et al., 2008). This data showed that although there was a declining in NTDs prevalence in prefortification, the NTDs prevalence did not continue to decline in postfortifcation (Chen et al., 2008). Hence, this study s results conflict with the results of De Wals et al s study which claimed that folic acid fortification decreases the NTDs prevalence after the full fortification period (De Wals et al., 2008). Another study was conducted in Chile by Cortes et al, and this study s aim was similar to De Wals et al s aim which was whether there is an impact of folic acid fortification on NTDs prevalence or not (Cortes et al., 2012). The researchers held an observation program in a specific hospital to detect the rate of occurrence of NTDs in stillbirths and livebirths (Cortes et al., 2012). The researchers showed that total NTDs prevalence decreased from prefortification period to postfortification period, and the reduction of spina bifida was about 52% in postfortification (Cortes et al., 2012). The overall agreement of what was the primary cause of this recession was the credit crisis from the bursting of the housing bubble. This lead the U.S. into the worst recession in over sixty years (Holt). The decade before the 2008 crisis, showed the development of a key factor that would later contribute to the crisis. With the housing markets that had the largest home price increases were often markets that the local government had forced land use restrictions on the amount of land available for housing. During the 2008 recession, the Federal Housing Administration increased its insurance activity to keep money flowing into the market. Without this government agency s backing, it would have been much more challenging for the middle class to get a home loan from the start of the recession (Griffith). A few large financial firms experienced financial stress during the 2008 Recession and in response, the Federal Reserve provided the liquidity and support through a variety of programs motivated to help the functions of financial markets and institutions, and in effect limit the damage done to the U.S. economy. • 12. Information Based Medicine ( Ebm ) A Health intervention is an effort that promotes behaviour that optimizes mental and physical health, or discourages or re frames behaviours considered to be potentially health threatening. So, Evidence based medicine(EBM) is not the only but the best approach to health interventions as it emphasizes the use of evidence from well designed and conducted research in healthcare decision making. EBM is regarded as the gold standard of clinical practice. The term evidence based medicine, as it is currently used, has two main tributaries. Chronologically, the first is the insistence on explicit evaluation of evidence of effectiveness when issuing clinical practice guidelines and other population level policies. The second is the introduction of epidemiological methods into medical education and individual patient level decision making. Evidence based medicine (EBM) is the process of systematically reviewing, appraising and using clinical research findings to aid the delivery of optimum clinical care to patients. EBM is the practice of solving the clinical problems in one s practice by judicious and systematic use of the medical literature. This includes framing questions rightly and searching the right kind of literature. Thereafter, the available evidence needs to be evaluated for the validity, strength and effect size. Finally, the results are examined for applicability to the current problem which requires a detailed knowledge of the clinical setting, patient ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. The Man He Killed By Thomas Hardy Figurative Language The poem The Man He Killed by Thomas Hardy is symbolic of the subtle conflicted effects brought about as a result of war. And the speaker in the poem is a classic example of someone who is trying to cope with conflicting memories of what if? What if he had not gone to war and killed a man? What if he had met the man under different circumstances? Had he and I but met /By some old ancient inn/we should have sat us down to wet (lines 1 3). Imagery plays an important role at this point in the poem because the speaker conveys that the same man he killed in war, he would have been able to sit down and have a drink with him in totally different surroundings. The most important question, therefore, being asked by the speaker is whether or not this man that he killed could have possibly been his friend instead of foe had they not... He identifies with the other man. They were probably both unemployed and the man he killed more than likely joined the army for the same reasons. They both had no other option. The speaker is certainly trying to come to terms with killing a man. And the use of repetition helps him to try and convince himself that he did the right thing. After the death of Joshua, the men of Judah and Joseph conquered their territory and drove out the Canaanites, being obedient, but all the other tribes did not. This signified a lack of trust in the Lord to fight their battles and was disobedient. Destroying idols was a part of the covenant and most of Israel did not do this and God cursed them. Because they had not destroyed the Canaanites, they would forever be in tension with them. The Israelites repented of their sins, but the curse still was in place. • 47. A Brief Note On Apathy And The Death Of The Road Apathy Imagine you are driving down the road late to work. On the side of the road you see that two cars have been in a serious accident. You almost pull over, when you remember how late you are for work. So instead, you keep driving telling yourself that someone else who has more time will stop and help them. When you finally arrive at work, you see that a homeless woman is sitting near the building you work at asking for money. You re already seventeen minutes late for work, and you don t have time to dig out your wallet and find spare change. While their parents brains are processing this information on a much higher thinking level, taking their person experiences, guilt for not pushing their child harder, and feeling bad for their child and their poor grades into account. However the parent s perspective on this issue can come across as overbearing, causing the teen to resort to an even more apathetic defiance, thus making the situation worse. Another example of this is with apathy as a pretense. For example when people use apathy to push their feelings away. Instead of communicating, sometimes people choose to resort to not communicating because they just don t care anymore and they don t want to make the situation worse. However in doing so, the lack of communication makes things more complicated, leading to even more chaos and arguments then there were in the first place, making it harder and harder to care as things get more complicated. Even when faced with career ending criticism, Phillips continued on making history. Not only is Sam Phillipsresponsible for the being the origin of the seemingly everlasting Rock and Rollmovement, he segregated music amidst all kinds of cultural disruption with civil rights. Elvis Presley was signed to Sun Records in 1954. This was monumental for Phillips s stand on racial boundaries in music. Elvis drew national attention to Sun Records which, in part, sparked slight popularity for other Sun artists such as Howlin Wolf, B.B. King, and Roscoe Gordon (Sun Records 1). This point in time is known as the origin of Rock and Roll. Contrary to what Rock and Roll is now, it was only popular within a certain demographic of people for a long time Furthermore, Sun Records and Sam Phillips went under fire by local radio stations and parents everywhere. Phillips s creation, Rock and Roll, caused an outrage. It was seen as provocative towards young people, which was its most popular demographic. Music from artists such as Elvis, King, and Gordon were banned from radio stations and televisions (Impact of Rock Roll on USA 5). Criticism from other well known music moguls didn t stop Sam. Nevertheless, Phillips kept on putting out influential, black music. Despite the hardening Civil Rights movement in the 1950 s, songs by African Americanartists slowly became extremely popular. In 1958, the first black artist reached the top of the billboard hot 100. This marked the climax of Phillip s goal to make popular music from an unpopular race.
