How does phonics develop early reading and how should phonics be taught?
The most important skill any child can leave primary school with is the ability to
read independently and effectively for meaning. (DFE National Literacy Strategy)
Reading has become an integral part of our lives; within the world we live in today
we rely heavily on information and environmental text. It is important that from an
early age Children are immersed in books everyday. With parents reading short
stories to there children daily it will be inevitable that those children will stand a
better chance at becoming stronger fluent readers. However distractions at home can
have a detrimental affect on children s development in reading as parents may not

They can also use this technique to pull apart those sounds that would help with
spelling of words. For example hat = h a t. (Rowlingson) Whereas Analytical phonics
is the complete opposite as they will start with a whole word and analyse a part of it.
In English there are 44 sounds (Phonemes) which are written using 26 letters of the
alphabet (Browne 2011, p27) There are many more Graphemes than Phonemes with
most phonemes being represented by a number of different graphemes.
Synthetic phonics can be taught in many ways. The Primary Framework for
Literacy (DfES, 2006a) gives a progressive plan on how to teach phonics. I found
during my time with Foundation year 2 s the teacher I was working with
concentrated on implementing four new letters every week as well as recapping
what they had learnt from the previous week. I asked her if it worked well and she
certainly seemed to think so. Before she would be doing a new letter a day,
although this would allow her to teach at a good pace she noticed the children
were struggling to remember all the letters and sounds they would learn. Because
of this she had to revise the way she was teaching the phonics to go at a pace the
children were comfortable with. She revised her plan so that every day her children
would recap over the letters they had previously been taught. I noticed that however
much planning was in place that it was always best to go by how the children would
cope and over time you will

Differences between Protein Shake and Protein Steak
From the moment of its creation, protein powder has been engulfed in a tornado of
controversy. Doctors, scientists, and athletes have debated on whether or not it
should be used for years. Protein provides the building blocks for all cells and
membranes, hormones and various growth factors. Elena Voropay, a writer for Iron
Man Magazine, says Proteinis found literally everywhere in your system: there is
protein in your muscle tissues, your heart, in the enzymes that digest your food, in
your skin cells and even within your blood (Voropay 1).
Protein from whole food has been around since the creation of the world and the
times of the hunter gatherers. Those ages didn t have whey protein isolate, powdered
casein protein, or any of those ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The best selling protein shakes are all based on milk proteins. Protein in its
powdered form is also much lighter than a full meal. This comes into play when the
protein shake is taken as a pre workout. In that case, it is much better to eat a lighter
shake before a HIT or high intensity training regimen, otherwise the contents of your
meal may end up on the gym floor instead of being absorbed for nutrients.
It is important to choose a good, healthy protein powder because many companies
aren t honest with their product labels since their products aren t regulated by the
Food and Drug Administration. Nutrilite, a company who specializes in supplements
and nutrition, is a company that is totally honest about their labels. Nutrilite created
the first multi vitamin well over fifty years ago. Their products are pure and because
they are organic, are considered whole food. This means that they are regulated by the
Food and Drug Administration. Also, they are the only one endorsed by the National
Collegiate Athlete Association (NCAA).
Some negatives when looking at powdered Protein products are that first and
foremost, they lack the supplemental nutrients that whole foods have to offer. For
example, beef is high in iron, while salmon is loaded with healthy fats. Yogurt
provides calcium, and whole wheat supplies B vitamins. Dr. Mercola, a chiropractor,
healthy specialist and author, says that the whey protein isolates are devoid of
nutritional

could see clearly what Nkrumah wanted to do domestically and on the international

How Did North America Change Over Time
Over the years, North America has developed in many different ways. However, one
particular time period in which change was significant was the 1600 s, a time of
trade, labor, and territorial settlements. As many people began to settle in different
areas of North America, such as the Native Americans, Pilgrims, and more, there
came along the fur trade, colony building, and more foreigners looking to live in
North America. With these different people coming to North America, they have
created ways in which cohabitation is possible, but unlikeable. As more Europeans
and Spaniards arrived, the more likely spread was to happen, thus creating an
unexpected competition between the developing colonies. In the early 1600 s, after
Christopher Columbus discovered North... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the time the Spanish built a military post at St. Augustine while also wiping
the French interlopers, there were fishing fleet activity involving the English and
French, in Cape Cod. There, were also local Native Americans who decided to trade
with the English and French, fur, in return for manufactured goods such as guns,
cloth, and metal utensils. With this, trading became more well known and accessible
to the other English and French, thus becoming a daily activity for the Europeans and
the Native Americans. However, as time passed, more animals with fur began to
diminish, thus enacting the competition of fur against the English and French. Unlike
the French who took up many of Canada s land (home of many fur bearing animals)
and traded with the Natives there, the English trading took place in Newfoundland
and on the Atlantic coast south of the French settlements. However, with the
diminishing of fur bearing animals, the French began to move further west in search
of it. This then gave the French an advantage of exploring more of Canada and North
America, while also building relationships with more Native
Analysis Of War For The Planet Of The Apes
War for the Planet of the Apes is a 2017 American sci fi movie coordinated by Matt
Reeves and composed by Mark Bomback and Reeves. A continuation of Rise of the
Planet of the Apes (2011) and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014), it is the third
portion in the Planet of the Apes reboot and arrangement. The filmstars Andy Serkis,
Woody Harrelson, and Steve Zahn, and takes after a showdown between the chimps,
drove by Caesar, and the people for control of Earth. Like its ancestor, its introduce
shares a few similitudes to the fifth movie in the first arrangement, Battle for the
Planet of the Apes, however, it isn t an immediate revamp.
Principal photography started on October 14, 2015, in Vancouver. War for the
Planet of the Apes debuted in New York City on July 10, 2017, and was
dramatically discharged in the United States on July 14, 2017, by Twentieth Century

numerous analysts featuring the acting (especially Serkis), visual impacts, story,
melodic score and bearing.
The various formal systems in the film relates to one another in various ways,
contributing to the overall effect of the film. From a specific angle the film s
cinematography is exquisite, with some beautiful view and camera work to make

The R D Is Responsible For 3 Of The 4 Buying Criteria
Module 1
Discussion 1
Based on the information from the capstone, the R D is responsible for 3 of the 4
buying criteria. Therefore, it is important to review the capstone courier and the
industry conditions report prior to making any decisions. With that being said, all the
decisions made within the R D are based on the information from both of these
reports. A manager must be knowledgeable of what our customers wants, therefore, it
would be wise to understand the five segments of customers and the significance of
performance, size, age and reliability. In addition, products are redesigned based on
performance, size, mtbf is changing and we must remember that the revisions dates
do not (change) going into the next year. Also, by increasing the performance
increases the material cost of production. Therefore, R D in production either affects
or affected by material cost, purchases of new facilities and automation levels. In
addition, it is important to remember that capacity and automation should be
purchased one year in advance.
Discussion 2
In the marketing section it is important to understand the importance of the 4P s
(product, price, promotion and place) all of these are important as to how the
company makes decisions the R D is responsible for the product and the marketing is
focused on price, promotion and place. Therefore, when a product price either
increase or decrease, this has an effect on each segment s expected price range.
Therefore, it is important to use the
What Is The World According To Bensenhaver
The World According to Bensenhaver was a book written by Garp after all the
tragedy that happened in his family. John Wolf, Garps editor, thinks the book is
terrible and will be a total fail. But what he doesn t know, is that it actually

World According to Bensenhaver is actually a good book. I thought it was well
written with a firm story to it and it was very successful. Many people were buying
the book saying it was the best book they ve ever read and they all loved it. It
inspired them. On Garps way back from his mother s funeral, he gets on the plane

Abortion And Mental Health Complications
Before Roe v. Wade there were as many as 5,000 American women who died
annually as a result of unsafe abortions (OBOS Abortion Contributors). Now
abortion is one of the safest clinical procedures in the United States with a death rate
of 0.6 per 100,000 procedures according to the World Health Organization (OBOS
AbortionContributors). Legal abortion is a safe procedure that has not been shown
to result in other complications such as mental health complications. It has also been
shown to be safer than having a baby. There has also been studies done that find no
link between abortion and an increased risk of having breast cancer. While some
believe abortion eliminates innocent life in a cruel and inhumane way, legal abortions

increased risk of obtaining breast cancer. Some studies have found links between
abortion and an increase in breast cancer. However, many of these studies were

breast cancer had been diagnosed (National Cancer Institute). The American

Reality of Education in America Essay
For the past handful of years America has had its fair share of problems terrorist
attacks, global warming, horrendous mass shootings, twerking, and so on. Most
recently, however, angry strikes from frustrated, underpaid citizens have been in the
headlines. Surprisingly, it was found that most of these demonstrators were teachers:
angry with the government and the economical approach that was taken to improve
fiscal issues. Within the United States, this approach was called the Deficit
Reduction Plan (DRP). This solution imposed lowering debt by reducing spending
and raising taxes. In 2009, US deficit was at an all time high, peaking almost $1.4
trillion. Since deficit reductions have not worked in the past, many individuals and...

smaller scale) was starting to be found nationwide in Florida, Washington,
California, New York and also worldwide in countries such as Mexico, Brazil,
Greece, and England. What we are seeing is not something that can be ignored. It is
something that must be addressed as soon as possible, not just in America, but also
in other countries as well. In the palatial grounds of Mexico City alone, thousands of

Islam Is A Religion Based On The Interpretation And...
Islam is a religion based on the interpretation and application of fundamental
scriptures geared towards the need of a growing, modernizing religious community.
The Qur an and the Prophet Mohammed s Sunnah and hadith serve as the main
sources for attaining religious knowledge. Scholars of Islam, Ulema, delegated a
mechanism in which they can gain knowledge after they have consulted the Quran
and Sunnah through ijtihad and qiyas. The flexibility with which they can use
reason, ijtihad, and analogies, qiyas, to answer questions of the time created doctrines
that shed light onto the growing concerns within the Muslim community. This
methodology has served to provide a path in which religious scholars can apply Islam
to the changing dynamics of gender roles. The modernizing world provided the
framework for female scholars to enter the field of religious study and interpret
Islam on their own. Drawing on their reasoning and their ability to make analogies to
stories within Islam helped women develop sound arguments within Islam that
codified women s rights. Muslim feminist used the religion of Islam as the backbone
of their movement by highlighting their rights and freedoms within Islamic scripture.
They opened the gates of ijtihad to reevaluate scripture pertaining to their rights in a
marriage free from the nuisances of male scholars. Religious tools in extracting
knowledge within the folds of Islam allowed women to challenge existing marriage
norms and gender roles based in
The Film Analysis Of The Movie Babel
Before I even looked the movie, Babel, up on Netflix I was dreading watching it,
knowing that since it was required for class that it wouldn t be any good. But after
watching the movie and absorbing everything, I can say that it was one of the most
intense, overwhelming, and educational movies I have encountered. The movie,
Babel, was an excellent movie that demonstrates the different interactions of diverse
cultures or even the interactions of the same cultures. Babel, starts out with a setting
in Morocco involving the trader who was trading a gunto the sheep herding family.
With the trading of the gun complete the scene changes to tourist in a bus, but in one
split second the American tourist woman was shot by the gun that the herding sheep
family just purchased. Several people frazzled thinking it was a terrorist attack, but
little did they know it was only the two Moroccan boys playing with the gun. From
there the scene goes to the American tourist s children who were with their illegal
immigrated nanny. The two children and their nanny, Amelia, went to her son s
wedding in Mexico. Moving the frame to Tokyo, Japan, where a teenage deaf girl,
Chieko, lives with her father. The movie jumps from each cultureall throughout the
movie, but there is a particular scene I want to zoom in on to get more sense of it.
There were many events that happened throughout the movie such as, the gun being
traded with the sheep herding family in Morocco, the American tourist getting shot,
the deaf girl in Japan being rebellious, and then the illegal immigrant nanny taking
the American children to Mexico. From the very start the Tokyo, Japan setting was
very interesting to me because in a scene where it is supposed to be viewing one
culture you view two which were the deaf community culture and then the Japan
culture. For those reasons, I will be presenting my perspective of Chieko s intimate
experience with her and her father.
From the start of the film, Chieko and her father didn t have a stable relationship
(22:03). Chieko struggled with connecting with the boys her age and she tries to get
attention by forcing sexual acts on boys and men that are too old for her. After her
mother s death, Chieko felt like she didn t have
Unknown Alkali Metal Carbonate Lab Report
Objective: The objective of this lab is to determine the identity of an unknown alkali
metal in a carbonate by the use of it in a precipitation reaction, and then the use of
gravimetric analysis of the reaction. Introduction: In order to determine what the
unknown alkali metal carbonate was, the unknown was reacted with calcium chloride
of a known concentration. A double replacement precipitation reaction occurred,
therefore, a calcium carbonate precipitate formed, and it then was completely
separated from the aqueous solution it was in so its mass could be measured. In
order to separate the products entirely, first a filter paper in a funnel separated the
precipitate from the aqueous solution. Then, a drying oven was used to heat the
remnants... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, to be exact, the determined molar mass was 26.6 g/mol and although that
is closest to sodium out of the alkali metals, it is not particularly close to sodium s
molar mass of 22.99 g/mol. This creates a rather large percent error of 15.7%. This
could be due to a few possible sources of error. For one, if some of the alkali metal
carbonate spilled before mixing it with the calcium chloride solution, the amount
of the alkali metal carbonate would clearly decreasing, causing the amount of
calcium carbonate produced to decrease as well. Therefore, the number of moles
of the original alkali metal carbonate calculated would be less, and since the
measured mass of it would not change accordingly, the molar mass would appear to
be greater than it actually is (3). Additionally, if tap water were used in place of
distilled water to dissolve the dried alkali metal carbonate, there would be an increase
in the apparent molar mass. Tap water has other ions in it which would have reacted
partially with the alkali metal carbonate, making it seems as though there was less
alkali metal carbonate than there actually was. Again, this would decrease the moles
of alkali metal carbonate and thus increase the molar mass (4). One precaution taken
to get the most accurate measurements possible was heating the calcium carbonate
for 15 minutes,

Observing Wyatt s development in the life at seven and nine videos, it is evident
that there are many risk and strengthening factors that impacts a child s schooling

The environment in which we grow up in is one of them, development feeds of

current state to some desired future state. Managing organizational change is the
process of planning and implementing change in organizations in such a way as to

maximizing the effectiveness of the change effort. This paper will present a case

That general manager was typically left alone to operate his or her unit autonomously.
Corporate headquarters set annual growth goals for the units and measured their

were paid a bonus and mostly left alone. Strategies, product decisions, and
acquisitions were determined by corporate executives in the States and communicated
to these country managers. MB s CEO frequently said that he liked this approach to
management because it delineated clear lines of authority and responsibility. Country
managers also preferred this autonomy. They were allowed, they believed, to decide

Rhetorical Analysis of the Children s Era by Margaret
Sanger
Rhetorical Analysis of The Children s Era Today, the availability of birth control is
taken for granted. There was a time, not long passed, during which the subject was
illegal ( Margaret Sanger, 2013, p.1). That did not stop the resilient leader of the
birth control movement. Margaret Sanger was a nurse and women s activist. While
working as a nurse, Sanger treated many women who had suffered from unsafe
abortions or tried to self induce abortion (p.1). Seeing this devastation and noting that
it was mainly low income women suffering from these problems, she was inspired to

4). To prove this point she demonstrated the inefficiency of the children s programs
that were already in place. She used another metaphor to show the logical
breakdown of efficiency in the system. Sanger (1925) went on to interpret the
children s charities that were currently in effect as the Grand Central Station of life,
with trainloads and trainloads of children being dumped off faster than anyone knew
what to do with them (para. 4). This analogy is influential because everyone in New
York, where the speech was delivered, was familiar with Grand Central Station and
how it was a hectic, main hub. Relating the amount of children to the overwhelming
atmosphere of the crowded station illustrated the difficulties and insufficiencies the
receiving committee faced as they tried to care for the massive amount of abandoned
children (Sanger, 1925, para. 4). Sanger proceeded to emphasize her points using
both emotion and logic. She used alliteration and powerful word choice to invoke
emotion about parentless children, listing out that the children were unwelcome,
unwanted, unprepared for, [and] unknown (Sanger, 1925, para 4). These are very
strong words to use to describe children. No one wants to think of children in these
ways because it is sad. Further explaining the ineffective system, she structured her

Essay on An Analysis of Culture in Things Fall Apart
The novel Things Fall Apart written by Chinua Achebe, is a tale based on the
traditional beliefs and customs of an Ibo village during late 1800 s Africa. Through
the telling of this story, we witness the remarkable depth of Igbo culture through its
functions of religion, politics, judiciary and entertainment. One of Achebe s
challenges was to illustrate the Ibo s religious system. Even though the Ibo people
had little contact with the outside world, they had developed their own beliefs and
practices that became essential elements in their everyday lives. The Ibo religion
played a role in the way they raised their families, communicated, entertained, and
governed their society. Similar to those of the early Egyptian and Greek religions,...

As well as maintaining good morals and values, the Ibo people further connected
with their gods and ancestors through the act of sacrifice. The Ibo people would
sacrifice anything from fruit, small animals and in some instances, people. On
page 17, Unoka explains that, before I put any crop in the earth, I sacrifice a cock
to Ani, the owner of all land. It is the law of our fathers. I also kill a cock at the
shrine of Ifejioku, the god of yams. Although some of the practices of the Ibo
religion may seem harsh, its primary goal is to maintain a peaceful and just society.
Just as the Ibo celebrate religion with their gods, they also celebrate with each other.
Later on page 97, Tortoise explains that he has, ...learned that a man who makes
trouble for others is also making it for himself, which demonstrates how the Ibo
people followed principles similar to that of the golden rule found in many other
religions of the time. Achebe also illustrates the Ibo judiciary and political system
throughout the entire story. Similar to those in other cultures, the Ibo people had a
very structured social order. In the beginning of the story on page 18, Achebe
describes Nwakibie s status in the Ibo village by stating he, ...had taken the highest but

Environmental Issues Facing Automobile Industry
ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES FACING AUTOMOBILE INDUSTRY IN
AMERICA The development of automobile industry in America started in 1896,
when Henry Ford built the first American car. With the invention of the automobile
and the mass production techniques of Henry Ford, which made the cars affordable,
the American economy has been transformed by this key element in its prosperity.
Tens of thousands of jobs were created as the industry grew. Workers were required
for the assembly lines on which they were constructed. Part by part, Ford s model Ts
became the first most popular, affordable, mass produced cars. The steel industry and
machine tool makers also flourished as the automotive industryrequired ever
increasing supplies and components for the engines, chassis and other metal fixtures
of the cars. Beyond these basics, every car needed a battery, head lights, interior
upholstery and paint. Entirely new businesses, or subsidiaries of existing business,
were created to meet the needs of the automobileindustry as it grew incrementally
year after year. The automobile industry has a huge impact on the US economy,
because its total sales consist of 3.7% of the Nation s GDP. Great concern for the
economy and global warming has caused the automobile industry in America to
develop alternative fuel vehicles. Toyota and Honda Japan started a pilot project in
2001 that sees the manufacturing of a hybrid car with an internal combustion engine
and an electric motor. Global Competition: The U.S.

Conway. This was the first case to weigh in on Utah s anti bigamy laws to state that
they are constitutional. Further when Chief Justice Waite delivered the opinion of
the court in discussion of the opinion further discussed if Mormons or the sects that
are part of the religion practicing polygamy should be exempt from the law. The
state of Utah may use this in our current case to try and show and or justify why Ms.
Evans, Mr. amp; Mrs. Conway should not have the right to be married in a
polygamous marriage, or granted a religious exemption. Lastly in Reynolds Chief
Justice Waite compared polygamy as a criminal act which is also where the state
of Utah will weigh in on this wording as well for the defense. The state of Utah also
relies heavily on Utah Const. art. III, В§ 1, in Utah s Constitution stating First:
Perfect toleration of religious sentiment is guaranteed. No inhabitant of this State
shall ever be molested in person or property on account of his or her mode of
religious worship; but polygamous or plural marriages are forever prohibited , and

Building Codes Of The Engineering
Overall this process is very linear and there is no way to reduce the flow time. Each
step in the process must be completed before moving to the next. After reviewing the
process, there are some items that work well and there are steps that are inefficient.
Currently the only steps in the process that work well are associated with the
engineering functions of the process. The Engineering group has had a 100% on time
performance for the last six years and has had no returned material acquisitions
(RMA) in that time. These RMAs are a credit that will be refunded to the customer
and will lower the margin on a project. It is critical that these are limited since they
affect the bottom line. Once all the required information has been given to this
group, the engineering can produce the design in a fairly quick manner. Our current
engineering software does need to have some capabilities added to the program that
could increase productivity and cause less time needed to check projects. At this
time, there are some new building codes that have not been incorporated into to
program. Since we are starting to see more projects using this new building code,
this causes the engineers to make manual changes to the design, which has a
negative affect on productivity. The most critical element of this process is step #2
(see process map). When the project manager reviews the project before sending it to
the project service department. Over the last six years, this has been

African Women s Role In War
Social constructions including race, political class, degree of wealth, moral codes,
and of course gender are really hot topics today. We shall focus on women in this
paper and their role in wars; African women in particular have a different way of life
than European women. Obioma Nnaemeka, in her article Bringing African Women
into the Classroom: Rethinking Pedagogy and Epistemology , says that an outsider
to a culture or a way of life can still learn and teach about the culture (571). Not only
does this mean that anybody can be immersed into African cultures, but also, within
the African cultures, men can still publish artistic works about women and vice
versa. Even though women do have positive portrayals in many films, there is often...

Keith Shiri s Directory of African Film makers and Films (1992) makes a claim that
of the over 250 filmmakers in Africa in the year of 1992, less than 10 were women,
cited by the article The emergence of women s film making in francophone sub
saharan Africa: from pioneering figures to contemporary directors written by Lizelle
Bisschoff (159). Bisschoff goes on to explain, however, that others studying this
topic have more recently pointed to figures way higher, with there now being over a
hundred women filmmakers in Africa (159). Still, women are primarily limited to
behind the scenes roles such as makeup artistry, editing, production management, and
wardrobing. Therefore, they direct far fewer films than men. Bisschoff says this is a
problem because it results in an imbalanced representation of sociocultural
complexities as well as disproportionate representations of individual and collective
subjectivities and identities (159). The uniqueness of being an African filmmaker is
that there are so many routes to take when conveying a message. It is true that many
women filmmakers focus on women s issues, but this can include many things, such
as being a mother, being a wife, being a target for sexual assault, and going through
periods. In addition, they can talk about the same cultural themes as men. Safi Faye
explains that she does not only focus on women, but on society as a whole, and she
A Young Man s Folly Short Summary
Sadly, not all marriages have good endings. This could be caused by several
reasons, such as falling out of love, neglect, or lack of communication. The latter is
the main cause of the short story A Young Man s Folly by Susan Michalicka. The
story revolves around a modern family, where a boy tries to deal with the loss of his
father leaving him. Michalicka conveys the message of: Sometimes when you re
chasing something, you lose sight of what is really important very well through the
use of conflict, characterization and symbolism.
Conflict was used effectively in the short story to reveal the theme of the story. The
boy has an internal conflict about which parent to stay with, and because his father
left, he seemed to have favored him. He wanted him back so badly that every
night, he watches him on the six o clock news while wearing his old jackets. He
was blinded by his father s sudden departure that he forgot about what is really
important. Additionally, another development in the short story s conflict has been
used effectively to reveal the theme. When the boy went to Macdonald s to see his
father s true colors, he thought: I finished my drink quickly, thankful that he had to
be back in the studio for the news. By the time he saw his dad for the first time in a
while, he knew he was not the man he thought he was. At that moment, he also
realized that he lost sight of what he had all this time: His mother s unconditional love.

Constantine and people swore an oath to him. Later it was revealed that in some
secret pact signed in 1822 by Alexander, he stated that Nicholas would take upon
the throne after his death. This further gave the Decembrists an opportunity to lead
a revolt and they guessed that all soldiers and people too would be confused in
such a situation. They decided not to swear an oath and refuse Nicholas as Tsar on
December 14, 1825 and call a revolt at the same day. The DecembristsRevolt at The

This movement was the outgrowth of a national condition which can be traced back
into eighteenth century. Decembrism itself was not only a short lived revolutionary
idea but it was an attitude held by at least two generations, a philosophy of political
rebellion which came to climax on December 14, 1825. Though defeated, the
Decembrists left an indelible impression upon Nicholas and throughout his reign, he
always considered developments from a viewpoint determined by his sad memories
of December 14. In spite of the fact that it failed to achieve immediate positive
results, the revolt bore healthy seeds and it has been considered as the first
revolutionary movement. The testimonies of the Decembrists directed the
government s attention to the gravity of general condition in the state, to increasing
discontent and necessity for economic improvements. The government took definite
measures and reforms were also introduced. Serfdom was also abolished in 1861.
Although the revolt remained a neglected and suppressed topic during Nicholas s
reign but Alexander Herzen placed profiles of executed Decembrists on the cover of
his periodical Polar Star. In spite of all the shortcomings of The Decembrist Revolt,
this was the first ever open breach between the government and liberal elements, and
it subsequently in some way helped Russia
Skinner s Behaviourist Approach
Skinner successfully developed a behaviourist approach that allows him to explain
and treat someone with OCD. Using the systematic desensitisation to gradually
introduce someone to their phobia that results in them having OCD. However,
Skinner does not consider the thoughts that might be involved in psychological
problems. Cognitive theory takes this into consideration thus attempting to change
these thoughts. Furthermore, another limitation in behaviourist approach is the
beliefs in determinism which suggests neglecting of free will. (2) The behaviourist
approach states human behaviour is caused by conditioning within the environment,
thus meaning we cant chose how we behave. cognitive theory focuses on how people

The Quality Of The American Government

The Quality of the American Government
Ever since the government was put in place in America, two fundamental questions
have emerged distinctly: how should the government rule its followers? Moreover,
what should the government do? America gained independence in 1776 after Richard
Henry Lee moved a motion in the Continental Congress requiring Britain to grant the
country its independence. The motion was approved on July, 2nd the same year.
Thomas Jefferson wrote the declaration of independence, which justified a revolution.
Today, historians study and interpret the declaration as a philosophy (Matzke, 14).

On the other hand, when John Kerry claims that tax cuts are only meant to benefit the
rich, objective onlookers such as Lakoff, it states that he is positioning himself as an
opportunistic liberal, fishing for votes (Iyengar, 2005).
The following discussion reveals how framers of the 1787 American Constitution
intentionally wrote conflict into the constitution, and how it has affected the
performance of public office holders in America today. Focus will be placed on the
factors that necessitated the development of the current being of the constitution, and
why conflict defines the actions of leaders today.
Over the years, political scientists have expressed their disapproval of American
elections. They have openly stated that presidential elections do not matter. The
reason being, is that they believe the outcome of elections is a result of forces outside
of the campaigner s influence. For example, the state of the economy, partisan
loyalties, and normative, communicative, and symbolic roles are all disconnected
from the influence of the campaigner. The latter mentioned aspects (anthropological),
according to political scientists, receive little attention from scholars, but their
impacts are very substantial. They restore confidence in governing institutions, result
in an upsurge in mutual feelings, and give the citizenry hope of a better governing
body after elections

prisoners, the guards, and the Colonel observed, until the Colonel finally gave the
order to put a stop to it. Although bean bags were shot rather than live ammunition,
apparently the Colonel had given orders to aim at the head periodically (calling it
an accident), especially when prisoners (or animals, as the Colonel called them
often) were killed. This type of leadership is in line with Machiavelli s, pg. 4,
assumed view of human nature in the prison, that human beings are essentially evil...
as the prisoners/animals were evil. Also, I compared this accidental killing of
prisoners in The Castle like the beginning of Sun Tzu. Sun Tzu killed the King s two
favorite concubines because they failed to follow orders. Just like the Colonel gave
orders a second time before commanding the marksman to shoot, Sun Tzu gave the
orders a second time before he killed the concubines. When the orders have been
made clear, and are not carried out in accordance with military law, it is a

Established permanently through the Copyright Act of 1976 (p. 347), this doctrine
allows for exclusions to the exclusive right granted by Copyright Law. As mentioned
earlier, exclusions to copyright protection exist and are known as the Fair Use
Doctrine. This doctrine was established in section 107 of the 1976 copyright act as
a response to some major cases heard previously. Protected works that are used for
the purpose of criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, or
research fall into the realm of fair use and do not require payment or authorization
from the creator. However, this only gives people a limited privilege, and not an
absolute right to use the work. Folsom v. Marsh (1841), introduced the factors that
underline the limited privileges of fair use. Although the appeals process found that
fair use was not applicable in the case because the defendants had used too much of
the work and earned a profit from it. In his opinion, Justice Joseph Story enumerated
factors that could be used to determine if the use fell under the Fair Use
Self Critique Of Charles Kebler As Sales Manager Essay

Salesperson Assignment: Sophia Barrow
Performance Evaluation Self Critique
Section One Overall Performance Critique:
1.What did you do well in the meeting?
After going back and reviewing my performance evaluation of Sophia Barrow, I
feel like I did a very good job overall. The first thing I feel like I did well during the
meeting was keeping the conversation balanced. Keeping the conversation balanced
and not talking too much was my main issue going into the meeting. The next thing
I feel like I did really well on was asking for her opinion on her ratings of herself
throughout the meeting. To be an effective salesmanager you need to understand the
reasons behind the ratings the reps are giving themselves. I am very pleased with my
performance overall and feel excellent about the outcome of the meeting.
2.How effective do you think the meeting was for the salesperson you evaluated, and
what cues and evidence lead you to this conclusion?
I think the meeting was very effective for Sophia Barrow because she always
seemed to agree with my ratings or at least adjust her ratings of herself after our
discussion. With that being said I feel like she was very happy and surprised with
the promotion I offered her. I think this was a big clue that the meeting was very
effective overall. Another piece of evidence that I used to evaluate the effectiveness
of the meeting was the fact that she seemed to really be on the same

Some gifted students, in particular students of minorities and subgroup populations,
may not be easily identified for reasons that can be attributed to cultural or socio
economic differences, to differences in opportunity to learn, to disabling conditions
that may mask giftedness, or to biases in the identification process (p. 329). The
differences among these subgroups of students can affect student engagement,
achievement, and the ultimate probability of them achieving their full potential

Teachers, administrators, parents, students, and community members in a district
are by far the most aware of the diversity present in those areas and how best to
serve their gifted student populations, specifically in relation to ethnic, racial, and
socio economic concerns. A local definition of giftedness allows for policy making
to occur on home turf, where best practices catering to specific groups of gifted
students can be utilized and the scope of the definition is able to be more succinct in
targeting certain student needs. As the National Association for Gifted Children
(NAGC) states, the goal of a definition of giftedness is to provide the framework for
gifted education programs and services, and guide key decisions such as which
students will qualify for services, the areas of giftedness to be address with
programming, when the services will be offered, and even why they will be
offered (NAGC Def). Districts have the advantage of knowing their students,
populations, and communities. There are, however, some downsides in allowing
localities to write their own definition of giftedness and the ramifications of what
follows. First, the school district must have qualified administrators and educators
creating the policies. According to a study done by the NAGC for the 2012 2013
school year, 43 percent of states responding to a survey do not require professionals
working in gifted and talented programs to have certification or endorsement in gifted
and talented education. Fairly bleak numbers, although a federal mandate requiring
gifted programs in every school district will most likely change this fact. Next, locally

Images Of Prison Life And Correctional Officers
Within society there are an array of misinterpret images of prison life and
correctional officers. This portrayal of them has change through time from popular
media. A clear majority of popular media such as writing and film can be attributed
to the one dimensional image. These media outlets are then taken as primary sources
and therefore society s view of prisonlife and correctional officers. These popular
media outlets are guilty when it comes to portraying a lifestyle that seem so real,
but far from the truth. Within these misconceptions gathered there is the formation
of the belief that all prison guards or correctional officers are this ruthless hierarchy
figure in this correctional system, designed to make the life of a prisoner complete
hell for those entering the system. Within the numerous portrayals of the
correctional system there are a few exceptions. For example, Ted Conover s
Newjack: Guarding Sing Sing is an excellent and rare example of the journalists
firsthand experiences as an undercover trained correctional officer. Ted Conover,
spent a year working as a newjack the inmate term for a newly minted New York
correctional officer in New York s Sing Sing prison. Far from the popular belief
portrayed in the media the role of a correctional officer is to be responsible for the
supervision, care, custody, control and to only use physical restraint, when necessary
on the inmates. In addition to that correctional officers endure a lot, in the since that

1.Introduction
The main purpose of this report is to critically analyse Mexico s monetary policies
in past 15 years and their impact on country s economic growth. In this report, we
mainly focus on exchange rate policy which has been implemented by Central Bank
of Mexico. The main reason of choosing Mexico as a country to analyse is that
Mexico, the second largest economy in Latin America, has gone through challenging
times in past years, which makes the case even more interesting to look into.
The report also investigates the Tequila Crises that Mexico has been through since
1994. The main reasons behind the crises as well as its impacts on country s
economic growth will be examined in the report. Furthermore, other indicators
effecting the whole situation will also be investigated in the report such as real GDP
growth, inflation

Gamma rays are the most interesting wave in the electromagnetic spectrum. In 1900,

they are very dangerous, but scientist also found a way to protect against gamma

and negative effects on the victims in China. This study strongly proved that
gamma radiation negatively affected the health because the accidental Ir 192
gamma radiation caused a variety of cancer even with small doses of radiation: .05
.65 Gy (Li). Iridium 192 is a radioactive isotope that has a half life of 73.82 days
which means that these radiations may occur rapidly. Also, the victims who were
exposed to this radiation had limited knowledge that certain machinery expelled the
gamma radiation (Li). 54 people were conducted on a 10 year test to check their
health. The method was very simple because the researchers gathered and then
studied blood samples, bone marrow, and their T cell subsets (Li). The results
revealed basic clinical symptoms such as an increase in dizziness, fatigue, memory
loss, insomnia for 90.7 % of the people in the first month, but as time passed by, the

Letter From Prison Answers
1. My entire career was spent at Computer Associates and while I can t tell you first
hand about the pressures in other companies or industries I believe that CA was
among the most aggressive in its pursuit of goals, a fact often relayed to me by my
industry peers. Both the CEO and I exerted significant pressure on our teams to
meet the goals that we had set for ourselves. As you would expect this has a trickle
down effect to others in the organization. While from this perspective performance
was measured by internal goals at an executive level these targets were primarily
driven by the expectations set by outside parties, primarily the analystcommunity.
While institutional investors were very important their buy, sell, hold decisions...

The challenge is always in balancing the complexity of a compensation plan with the
desired behavior. We spent a significant amount of time aligning the compensation of
employees to the corporate goals.
7. Option compensation will continue to be a critical component of compensation
for executives as it simplistically aligns the executives pay to shareholder value in
its simplest sense. I don t believe that options compensation is the primary driver of
behavior when things shift from the legal to the illegal. As with most senior
executives in industry, ego is a huge driver in individual behavior. Compensation is
important, but the recognition of your performance is sometimes even more
important. We have created a performance driven culture without the necessary
control framework for people to operate within. One minute you are doing a great
job, the next you have crossed an imaginary line. The frameworks don t do enough to
quantify behavior as legal and illegal leaving inconsistent rules for organizations to
operate within. How does Enron compare to the subprime mortgage debacle, or to
Steve Jobs backdating options. There remains too much room for interpretation.
8. Probably covered in the above. Some other forces would include employee

9. This is the million dollar question. In my instance I will be deported, probably to

Erin Brockovich And The Importance Of Rights Claiming
Erin Brockovich and the importance of Rights Claiming The film Erin Brockovich
is a film that involves the American Legal System, however, it is very different
from the films that normally come to mind when we think of a film involving the
law. This film employed many of the usual aspects of law based movies, such as:
lawyers, defendants, victims, a large sum of money, etc. This being said, however, the
main character of the film, Erin Brockovich, plays an uncommon role. She starts off
at the firm as the secretary, and ends up becoming a monumental force for the people
of Hinkley, Californiain their fight against Pacific Gas and Energy (PG E). This
movie portrays the significance of Rights Claiming and how it affected Erin
Brockavich personally,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this scene, Erin Brockovich was crossing her vehicle at a four way intersection,
and as she reached the middle of the intersection, an expensive Jaguar came out of
nowhere and crashed right into the side of her. As we would later find out, the car
was driven by a doctor, who ran a red light, and was speeding. The doctor walked
away from accident without injury, but Erin was stuck in a neck brace and could
not afford to pay her hospital bills. Since Erin could not afford to pay her hospital
bills, she had decided to take the doctor to court, where she met the other major
character of the movie, her lawyer and eventual boss, Ed Masry. Erin claimed her
rights when she decided to sue the doctor. In the text, The Politics of Rights, we
see No matter how carefully drafted, legal rules are never without a certain range
of ambiguity or open texture (Scheingold, 2011). This statement from our reading
relates to Erin s case because of the fact that she lost the case. We as viewers of the
movie know that Erin fully deserved to be compensated for her injuries, however,
she did not win her arguement. Two major factors contributed to Erin losing the case;
one of which being that Ed Masry seemed to not be as determined
Bathroom Laws
May 13, 2016, the Obama Administration sent thousands of letters to public schools
defending transgender rights. This sparked a national debate over bathroom laws
determining if transgender individuals should be allowed to use the public bathroom
or locker room of their choice. People are divided on the issues of what bathroom or
locker room transgenderpeople utilize as some believe that they should use the
bathroom based on their biological sex while others believe that they should use the
bathroom corresponding to their genderidentity. Some people are against the usage
of bathrooms based on gender identity feeling that it would be better to have usage
based on the gender listed on birth certificates or single stall unisex bathrooms. Many
people claim that perverts, peeping toms, and rapists could abuse the law in order to
attack women and young girls in public restroomsand locker... Show more content on

An estimate from the U.S. Department of Justice states that one in every two
transgender people are sexually assaulted or abused within their lifetime.
Transgender activists claim that transgender people experience higher levels of
violence and harassment, and, when using the bathroom corresponding to their
biological sex are at an even greater risk. The supposed threats that these protections
pose to others are largely nonexistent; in fact, it is transgender people who are far
more likely to be the target of violence than any random user of the ladies room
(.Eisner).
Transgender people feel uncomfortable in bathrooms if forced to use the bathroom
corresponding to their birth certificate. One transgender person said I do not plan on
frequenting any women s restrooms now or anytime in the future. Doing so would
guarantee two things: that I would be uncomfortable, and that the women sharing the
bathroom with me could be
Philip Hamilton And Alexander Hamilton s Mental Health
Alexander Hamilton was one of America s foremost founding fathers. Hamilton s
work in the army, in the writing of and ratification of the constitution, his creation of
the bank, and his successful political career all made an important impact on early
american society, most of which can still be seen today. Although Hamilton
accomplished so much in his short life, his last few years were filled with horrible
sufferings that would greatly affect his mental health. This degradation of Hamilton s
mental health would lead historians to advertise his symptoms from traumatic
experiences, suicidal tendencies, and appearances of manic depression. In order to
fully understand what was happening to Hamilton s mental health in the last couple
of years of Hamilton s life, one must first understand Philip Hamilton and his deadly
duel with George Eacker, Alexander Hamiltonand Aaron Burr s duel, the symptoms of
trauma, suicidal tendencies, and bipolar affective disorder.
Philip Hamilton was Alexander and Eliza Hamilton s firstborn son. Philip was
their eldest son, and he was Alexander Hamilton s pride and joy. Smart, handsome,
and on an impressive path, Philip Hamilton was a rising star by the time he had
graduated from college. After hearing about George Eacker s Fourth of July
oration, in which Eacker criticises Hamilton s financial system, and the treasury
department in general, Philip Hamilton grew unsettled and decided to confront
George Eacker. Chernow describes the meeting between Philip Hamilton and
George Eacker as contentious between both parties and shares of the constant
threats of violence. Eventually, the two parted ways, only to result in an immediate
challenge of a duel by Philip Hamilton and Richard Price. The argument between
the two was harsh enough that Eacker and Price had a separate duel, albeit resulting
in nothing, before Hamilton and Eacker had a duel. Eacker and Hamilton both
refused to apologize, and a duel between the two was scheduled as soon as possible
in New Jersey.
Asking for much needed advice from his father, Philip Hamilton received the advice
to wait until Eacker fired, and then raise his gun and shoot up into the air. Throwing
away one s shot, Alexander Hamilton argued, was a measure

Conflict Resolution in a Virtual Environment
The human mind is a unique filter and for this reason, every one of us thinks and
perceives situations in our own way. One crisis that might be diminutive in nature for
one person can be colossal in nature to another person. This dichotomy gives rise to
differences of opinions, and different opinions can lead to arguments. If arguments
are weighed purposefully and fairly in conflict, then resolutions can lead to a
meaningful outcome. However, if arguments are just for the sake of arguments, this
might lead to an undesired situation leading to conflicts among people. Conflicts

These emails turned into a workplace disagreement. The differences in opinion
caused the meeting to be rescheduled. The affect hindered our organizational
performance. In my conflict, we need to examine different reasons for conflicts.
According to research, latent conflict represents all of the potential sources of
conflict at the individual or group level (Baack, 2012, p.7.3). For example, the
source of the conflict between the team member and me was a difference in opinion
on how to organize the group assigned task. Again, not all conflicts are the same, and
for this reason, management should have a heightened awareness of the different
levels of conflicts in the workplace.
According to research, Resolving conflict cannot take place until the level has been
properly identified (Baack, 2012, p. 7.3). The four levels of conflict are intrapersonal
or intra psychic conflict, interpersonal conflict, intra group conflict, intergroup
conflict. In my situation, the level of conflict with the team member was an intra
group conflict. According to research, Intra group conflict refers to incidents between
members of a group. Disagreements about goals, methods of operation, and
leadership create intra group conflicts. When conflicts are not properly managed and
resolved, the end results can be poor decisions and ineffective group functioning
(Baack, 2012).
The source of the intra group conflict was task related. According to studies, task
My Summer Wardrobe
I have missed you so much! I say as I fall back onto my bed. It feels so good to be
back home. My own bed, my own room, my own clothes, my own food.
I am glad to have you back Riles! Sam says, leaning onto the door frame of my room.
Ethan is a little bummed though.
Boo hoo. I say. Tell him he is free to visit anytime he likes.
I will do that right away. Sam laughs. Is there anywhere you want to go today?
Anything you need to do? she asks.
Today I think I will just stay here and get my things organized and cleaned up. I
reply. Tomorrow I wouldn t mind hitting a few malls. I would like to revamp my
summer wardrobe.

I look to the side of the bed to see what fell. I see a small silver pocket watch. It is
about an inch and a half round. There are black roman numerals etched around it.
There are small round circles etched in a circle inside of that and then a watch hand
in the center with four numbers marking every half hour. 3, 6, 9, 12. The time on the
watch says 12:29.
I pick it up and hold it close to me. Aden gave this to me shortly after we met. I
thought I lost this in the accident. It must have just got tangled up in everything and I
never saw it.
I start to day dream of the day Aden gave this to me. It was the night of our senior
prom.
Honey, Aden is here. My mom shouts up the stairs to me.
I will be down in a minute. I call back. I was so nervous that night. Aden was the
first guy I had ever gone to a dance with who I ever got this excited and nervous to
go with. I check myself out in my tall beveled mirror one last time before making
my way downstairs. I am wearing a mermaid style gown. It is blush pink and has
gold crystals that cover the entire bodice. It has a few crystals that are spaced out on
the lower half of the dress, making it look like there is a waterfall of diamonds
dripping down my dress when it hits the light. My hair is curled in loose waves down
my back. I think I am ready.
I start walking down our spiral staircase to go and meet Aden. I look up and I see him
wearing a perfectly tailored black tux with a white dress shirt
The Death Penalty Is Justified
In many eyes across the country the death penalty is widely criticized. The state of
Texas has the death penalty, whereas nineteen other states in the United States do not
including the state Maine. The death penalty is a way for the states to declare that
they don t tolerate the heinous crimes that some individuals commit. In Texas there
are numerous ways that one could be sentenced to death row. Murdering a police
officer or firefighter in the line of duty and if the individual knowing that they are a
police officer or firefighter, murderfor hire or promise of pay, to employ another to
commit murder, murder during the act of or attempted act of kidnapping, burglary,
robbery, aggravated sexual assault, arson, obstruction, retaliation or terroristic threat,
murder during escape or attempted escape from a penal institution, murder during
incarceration of a correctional officer or anyway associated with the plan to do so,
murder while in prison serving a life sentence or a ninety nine year sentence for a
conviction of aggravated kidnapping, aggravated sexual assault, or aggravated
robbery, murder of more than one person during the same crimeor in the same fashion
over an extended period of time, murder of a minor under the age of ten, last but
not least the murder in retaliation for or on account of the service or status of
another person as a judge. What is murder? Murder in my mind is subjective to

The most important skill any child can leave primary school with is the ability to read independently and effectively for meaning. (DFE National Literacy Strategy) Reading has become an integral part of our lives; within the world we live in today we rely heavily on information and environmental text. It is important that from an early age Children are immersed in books everyday. With parents reading short stories to there children daily it will be inevitable that those children will stand a better chance at becoming stronger fluent readers. They can also use this technique to pull apart those sounds that would help with spelling of words. For example hat = h a t. (Rowlingson) Whereas Analytical phonics is the complete opposite as they will start with a whole word and analyse a part of it. In English there are 44 sounds (Phonemes) which are written using 26 letters of the alphabet (Browne 2011, p27) There are many more Graphemes than Phonemes with most phonemes being represented by a number of different graphemes. Synthetic phonics can be taught in many ways. The Primary Framework for Literacy (DfES, 2006a) gives a progressive plan on how to teach phonics. I found during my time with Foundation year 2 s the teacher I was working with concentrated on implementing four new letters every week as well as recapping what they had learnt from the previous week. I asked her if it worked well and she certainly seemed to think so. Before she would be doing a new letter a day, although this would allow her to teach at a good pace she noticed the children were struggling to remember all the letters and sounds they would learn. Because of this she had to revise the way she was teaching the phonics to go at a pace the children were comfortable with. She revised her plan so that every day her children would recap over the letters they had previously been taught. I noticed that however much planning was in place that it was always best to go by how the children would cope and over time you will

Doctors, scientists, and athletes have debated on whether or not it should be used for years. Protein provides the building blocks for all cells and membranes, hormones and various growth factors. Elena Voropay, a writer for Iron Man Magazine, says Proteinis found literally everywhere in your system: there is protein in your muscle tissues, your heart, in the enzymes that digest your food, in your skin cells and even within your blood (Voropay 1). Protein in its powdered form is also much lighter than a full meal. This comes into play when the protein shake is taken as a pre workout. In that case, it is much better to eat a lighter shake before a HIT or high intensity training regimen, otherwise the contents of your meal may end up on the gym floor instead of being absorbed for nutrients. It is important to choose a good, healthy protein powder because many companies aren t honest with their product labels since their products aren t regulated by the Food and Drug Administration. Nutrilite, a company who specializes in supplements and nutrition, is a company that is totally honest about their labels. Nutrilite created the first multi vitamin well over fifty years ago. Also, they are the only one endorsed by the National Collegiate Athlete Association (NCAA). Some negatives when looking at powdered Protein products are that first and foremost, they lack the supplemental nutrients that whole foods have to offer. For example, beef is high in iron, while salmon is loaded with healthy fats. Yogurt provides calcium, and whole wheat supplies B vitamins. Dr. Mercola, a chiropractor, healthy specialist and author, says that the whey protein isolates are devoid of nutritional

However, one particular time period in which change was significant was the 1600 s, a time of trade, labor, and territorial settlements. As many people began to settle in different areas of North America, such as the Native Americans, Pilgrims, and more, there came along the fur trade, colony building, and more foreigners looking to live in North America. With these different people coming to North America, they have created ways in which cohabitation is possible, but unlikeable. With this, trading became more well known and accessible to the other English and French, thus becoming a daily activity for the Europeans and the Native Americans. However, as time passed, more animals with fur began to diminish, thus enacting the competition of fur against the English and French. Unlike the French who took up many of Canada s land (home of many fur bearing animals) and traded with the Natives there, the English trading took place in Newfoundland and on the Atlantic coast south of the French settlements. However, with the diminishing of fur bearing animals, the French began to move further west in search of it. This then gave the French an advantage of exploring more of Canada and North America, while also building relationships with more Native

With that being said, all the decisions made within the R D are based on the information from both of these reports. Most recently, however, angry strikes from frustrated, underpaid citizens have been in the headlines. Surprisingly, it was found that most of these demonstrators were teachers: angry with the government and the economical approach that was taken to improve fiscal issues. Within the United States, this approach was called the Deficit Reduction Plan (DRP). This solution imposed lowering debt by reducing spending and raising taxes. Additionally, the same movement (on a much smaller scale) was starting to be found nationwide in Florida, Washington, California, New York and also worldwide in countries such as Mexico, Brazil, Greece, and England. What we are seeing is not something that can be ignored. It is something that must be addressed as soon as possible, not just in America, but also in other countries as well. In the palatial grounds of Mexico City alone, thousands of cars and twenty two million people have been brought down, not by religious conflicts or terrorist attacks, but rather an aggregation of furious school teachers. • 13. Islam Is A Religion Based On The Interpretation And... Islam is a religion based on the interpretation and application of fundamental scriptures geared towards the need of a growing, modernizing religious community. The Qur an and the Prophet Mohammed s Sunnah and hadith serve as the main sources for attaining religious knowledge. Scholars of Islam, Ulema, delegated a mechanism in which they can gain knowledge after they have consulted the Quran and Sunnah through ijtihad and qiyas. The flexibility with which they can use reason, ijtihad, and analogies, qiyas, to answer questions of the time created doctrines that shed light onto the growing concerns within the Muslim community. This methodology has served to provide a path in which religious scholars can apply Islam to the changing dynamics of gender roles. The modernizing world provided the framework for female scholars to enter the field of religious study and interpret Islam on their own. Drawing on their reasoning and their ability to make analogies to stories within Islam helped women develop sound arguments within Islam that codified women s rights. Muslim feminist used the religion of Islam as the backbone of their movement by highlighting their rights and freedoms within Islamic scripture. They opened the gates of ijtihad to reevaluate scripture pertaining to their rights in a marriage free from the nuisances of male scholars. Religious tools in extracting knowledge within the folds of Islam allowed women to challenge existing marriage norms and gender roles based in

The Film Analysis Of The Movie Babel Before I even looked the movie, Babel, up on Netflix I was dreading watching it, knowing that since it was required for class that it wouldn t be any good. But after watching the movie and absorbing everything, I can say that it was one of the most intense, overwhelming, and educational movies I have encountered. The movie, Babel, was an excellent movie that demonstrates the different interactions of diverse cultures or even the interactions of the same cultures. Babel, starts out with a setting in Morocco involving the trader who was trading a gunto the sheep herding family. With the trading of the gun complete the scene changes to tourist in a bus, but in one split second the American tourist woman was shot by the gun that the herding sheep family just purchased. Several people frazzled thinking it was a terrorist attack, but little did they know it was only the two Moroccan boys playing with the gun. From there the scene goes to the American tourist s children who were with their illegal immigrated nanny. The two children and their nanny, Amelia, went to her son s wedding in Mexico. Moving the frame to Tokyo, Japan, where a teenage deaf girl, Chieko, lives with her father. The movie jumps from each cultureall throughout the movie, but there is a particular scene I want to zoom in on to get more sense of it. There were many events that happened throughout the movie such as, the gun being traded with the sheep herding family in Morocco, the American tourist getting shot, the deaf girl in Japan being rebellious, and then the illegal immigrant nanny taking the American children to Mexico. From the very start the Tokyo, Japan setting was very interesting to me because in a scene where it is supposed to be viewing one culture you view two which were the deaf community culture and then the Japan culture. For those reasons, I will be presenting my perspective of Chieko s intimate experience with her and her father. From the start of the film, Chieko and her father didn t have a stable relationship (22:03). Chieko struggled with connecting with the boys her age and she tries to get attention by forcing sexual acts on boys and men that are too old for her. After her mother s death, Chieko felt like she didn t have

Unknown Alkali Metal Carbonate Lab Report Objective: The objective of this lab is to determine the identity of an unknown alkali metal in a carbonate by the use of it in a precipitation reaction, and then the use of gravimetric analysis of the reaction. Introduction: In order to determine what the unknown alkali metal carbonate was, the unknown was reacted with calcium chloride of a known concentration. A double replacement precipitation reaction occurred, therefore, a calcium carbonate precipitate formed, and it then was completely separated from the aqueous solution it was in so its mass could be measured. In order to separate the products entirely, first a filter paper in a funnel separated the precipitate from the aqueous solution. Then, a drying oven was used to heat the remnants... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, to be exact, the determined molar mass was 26.6 g/mol and although that is closest to sodium out of the alkali metals, it is not particularly close to sodium s molar mass of 22.99 g/mol. This creates a rather large percent error of 15.7%. This could be due to a few possible sources of error. For one, if some of the alkali metal carbonate spilled before mixing it with the calcium chloride solution, the amount of the alkali metal carbonate would clearly decreasing, causing the amount of calcium carbonate produced to decrease as well. Therefore, the number of moles of the original alkali metal carbonate calculated would be less, and since the measured mass of it would not change accordingly, the molar mass would appear to be greater than it actually is (3). Additionally, if tap water were used in place of distilled water to dissolve the dried alkali metal carbonate, there would be an increase in the apparent molar mass. Tap water has other ions in it which would have reacted partially with the alkali metal carbonate, making it seems as though there was less alkali metal carbonate than there actually was. Again, this would decrease the moles of alkali metal carbonate and thus increase the molar mass (4). One precaution taken to get the most accurate measurements possible was heating the calcium carbonate for 15 minutes,

  • 17. Strategy Change at Minnesota Bio Labs Abstract Organizational change occurs when a company makes a transition from its current state to some desired future state. Managing organizational change is the process of planning and implementing change in organizations in such a way as to minimize employee resistance and cost to the organization while simultaneously maximizing the effectiveness of the change effort. This paper will present a case study of Minnesota Biolabs, a company that supplied rabbits to the producers of injectable devices and their move from injectable rabbits to SepsisDetection Test (SDT). Instead of conducting tests in live rabbits, SDT used blood extracted from horseshoe crabs for the tests. After extraction, the crabs were returned to the ocean where they... There was a time, not long passed, during which the subject was illegal ( Margaret Sanger, 2013, p.1). That did not stop the resilient leader of the birth control movement. Margaret Sanger was a nurse and women s activist. While working as a nurse, Sanger treated many women who had suffered from unsafe abortions or tried to self induce abortion (p.1). She used another metaphor to show the logical breakdown of efficiency in the system. Sanger (1925) went on to interpret the children s charities that were currently in effect as the Grand Central Station of life, with trainloads and trainloads of children being dumped off faster than anyone knew what to do with them (para. 4). This analogy is influential because everyone in New York, where the speech was delivered, was familiar with Grand Central Station and how it was a hectic, main hub. Relating the amount of children to the overwhelming atmosphere of the crowded station illustrated the difficulties and insufficiencies the receiving committee faced as they tried to care for the massive amount of abandoned children (Sanger, 1925, para. 4). Sanger proceeded to emphasize her points using both emotion and logic. She used alliteration and powerful word choice to invoke emotion about parentless children, listing out that the children were unwelcome, unwanted, unprepared for, [and] unknown (Sanger, 1925, para 4). These are very strong words to use to describe children. No one wants to think of children in these ways because it is sad. Further explaining the ineffective system, she structured her logical

Essay on An Analysis of Culture in Things Fall Apart The novel Things Fall Apart written by Chinua Achebe, is a tale based on the traditional beliefs and customs of an Ibo village during late 1800 s Africa. Through the telling of this story, we witness the remarkable depth of Igbo culture through its functions of religion, politics, judiciary and entertainment. One of Achebe s challenges was to illustrate the Ibo s religious system. Even though the Ibo people had little contact with the outside world, they had developed their own beliefs and practices that became essential elements in their everyday lives. The Ibo religion played a role in the way they raised their families, communicated, entertained, and governed their society. Similar to those of the early Egyptian and Greek religions,... With the invention of the automobile and the mass production techniques of Henry Ford, which made the cars affordable, the American economy has been transformed by this key element in its prosperity. Tens of thousands of jobs were created as the industry grew. Workers were required for the assembly lines on which they were constructed. Part by part, Ford s model Ts became the first most popular, affordable, mass produced cars. The steel industry and machine tool makers also flourished as the automotive industryrequired ever increasing supplies and components for the engines, chassis and other metal fixtures of the cars. Beyond these basics, every car needed a battery, head lights, interior upholstery and paint. Entirely new businesses, or subsidiaries of existing business, were created to meet the needs of the automobileindustry as it grew incrementally year after year. After reviewing the process, there are some items that work well and there are steps that are inefficient. Currently the only steps in the process that work well are associated with the engineering functions of the process. The Engineering group has had a 100% on time performance for the last six years and has had no returned material acquisitions (RMA) in that time. These RMAs are a credit that will be refunded to the customer and will lower the margin on a project. It is critical that these are limited since they affect the bottom line. Once all the required information has been given to this group, the engineering can produce the design in a fairly quick manner. Our current engineering software does need to have some capabilities added to the program that could increase productivity and cause less time needed to check projects. At this time, there are some new building codes that have not been incorporated into to program. Since we are starting to see more projects using this new building code, this causes the engineers to make manual changes to the design, which has a negative affect on productivity. The most critical element of this process is step #2 (see process map). When the project manager reviews the project before sending it to the project service department. Bisschoff goes on to explain, however, that others studying this topic have more recently pointed to figures way higher, with there now being over a hundred women filmmakers in Africa (159). Still, women are primarily limited to behind the scenes roles such as makeup artistry, editing, production management, and wardrobing. Therefore, they direct far fewer films than men. Bisschoff says this is a problem because it results in an imbalanced representation of sociocultural complexities as well as disproportionate representations of individual and collective subjectivities and identities (159). The uniqueness of being an African filmmaker is that there are so many routes to take when conveying a message. It is true that many women filmmakers focus on women s issues, but this can include many things, such as being a mother, being a wife, being a target for sexual assault, and going through periods. • 26. A Young Man s Folly Short Summary Sadly, not all marriages have good endings. This could be caused by several reasons, such as falling out of love, neglect, or lack of communication. The latter is the main cause of the short story A Young Man s Folly by Susan Michalicka. The story revolves around a modern family, where a boy tries to deal with the loss of his father leaving him. Michalicka conveys the message of: Sometimes when you re chasing something, you lose sight of what is really important very well through the use of conflict, characterization and symbolism. Conflict was used effectively in the short story to reveal the theme of the story. The boy has an internal conflict about which parent to stay with, and because his father left, he seemed to have favored him. He wanted him back so badly that every night, he watches him on the six o clock news while wearing his old jackets. He was blinded by his father s sudden departure that he forgot about what is really important. Additionally, another development in the short story s conflict has been used effectively to reveal the theme. When the boy went to Macdonald s to see his father s true colors, he thought: I finished my drink quickly, thankful that he had to be back in the studio for the news. By the time he saw his dad for the first time in a while, he knew he was not the man he thought he was. A local definition of giftedness allows for policy making to occur on home turf, where best practices catering to specific groups of gifted students can be utilized and the scope of the definition is able to be more succinct in targeting certain student needs. As the National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC) states, the goal of a definition of giftedness is to provide the framework for gifted education programs and services, and guide key decisions such as which students will qualify for services, the areas of giftedness to be address with programming, when the services will be offered, and even why they will be offered (NAGC Def). Districts have the advantage of knowing their students, populations, and communities. There are, however, some downsides in allowing localities to write their own definition of giftedness and the ramifications of what follows. First, the school district must have qualified administrators and educators creating the policies. According to a study done by the NAGC for the 2012 2013 school year, 43 percent of states responding to a survey do not require professionals working in gifted and talented programs to have certification or endorsement in gifted and talented education. Ted Conover, spent a year working as a newjack the inmate term for a newly minted New York correctional officer in New York s Sing Sing prison. Far from the popular belief portrayed in the media the role of a correctional officer is to be responsible for the supervision, care, custody, control and to only use physical restraint, when necessary on the inmates. In addition to that correctional officers endure a lot, in the since that

Even though the Americans lost the First Seminole War in 1817, Jackson remained steadfast when he became President in 1829 to remove the Seminoles from the acquired Florida territory. In this report, we mainly focus on exchange rate policy which has been implemented by Central Bank of Mexico. The main reason of choosing Mexico as a country to analyse is that Mexico, the second largest economy in Latin America, has gone through challenging times in past years, which makes the case even more interesting to look into. The report also investigates the Tequila Crises that Mexico has been through since 1994. The main reasons behind the crises as well as its impacts on country s economic growth will be examined in the report. Furthermore, other indicators effecting the whole situation will also be investigated in the report such as real GDP growth, inflation

In 1900, Paul Villard discovered Gamma rays unexpectedly while he was conducting a radioactivity experiment (ARPANSA). He differentiated gamma rays from x rays because he realized that gamma rays had a greater penetration power depth through his further study and research (ARPANSA). Gamma radiation studies revealed that they are very dangerous, but scientist also found a way to protect against gamma radiation and many beneficial usages. Gamma radiation is in the highest energy level of the electromagnetic spectrum (Electromagnetic Spectrum). The research logically proved that if a person was farther away from the radiation, they would be affected less by the bombing. The research clearly revealed why a high dose of gamma radiation was dangerous because the bombs and explosions immediately killed people, and had many ways to destroy person s health. Unlike high dose of gamma radiation, a small dose of radiation had a significant and negative effects on the victims in China. This study strongly proved that gamma radiation negatively affected the health because the accidental Ir 192 gamma radiation caused a variety of cancer even with small doses of radiation: .05 .65 Gy (Li). Iridium 192 is a radioactive isotope that has a half life of 73.82 days which means that these radiations may occur rapidly. Also, the victims who were exposed to this radiation had limited knowledge that certain machinery expelled the gamma radiation (Li). 54 people were conducted on a 10 year test to check their health. The method was very simple because the researchers gathered and then studied blood samples, bone marrow, and their T cell subsets (Li). The results revealed basic clinical symptoms such as an increase in dizziness, fatigue, memory loss, insomnia for 90.7 % of the people in the first month, but as time passed by, the study

I don t believe that options compensation is the primary driver of behavior when things shift from the legal to the illegal. This film employed many of the usual aspects of law based movies, such as: lawyers, defendants, victims, a large sum of money, etc. This being said, however, the main character of the film, Erin Brockovich, plays an uncommon role. As we would later find out, the car was driven by a doctor, who ran a red light, and was speeding. The doctor walked away from accident without injury, but Erin was stuck in a neck brace and could not afford to pay her hospital bills. Since Erin could not afford to pay her hospital bills, she had decided to take the doctor to court, where she met the other major character of the movie, her lawyer and eventual boss, Ed Masry. Erin claimed her rights when she decided to sue the doctor. In the text, The Politics of Rights, we see No matter how carefully drafted, legal rules are never without a certain range of ambiguity or open texture (Scheingold, 2011). This statement from our reading relates to Erin s case because of the fact that she lost the case. We as viewers of the movie know that Erin fully deserved to be compensated for her injuries, however, she did not win her arguement. Two major factors contributed to Erin losing the case; one of which being that Ed Masry seemed to not be as determined

  • 44. Philip Hamilton And Alexander Hamilton s Mental Health Alexander Hamilton was one of America s foremost founding fathers. Hamilton s work in the army, in the writing of and ratification of the constitution, his creation of the bank, and his successful political career all made an important impact on early american society, most of which can still be seen today. Although Hamilton accomplished so much in his short life, his last few years were filled with horrible sufferings that would greatly affect his mental health. This degradation of Hamilton s mental health would lead historians to advertise his symptoms from traumatic experiences, suicidal tendencies, and appearances of manic depression. In order to fully understand what was happening to Hamilton s mental health in the last couple of years of Hamilton s life, one must first understand Philip Hamilton and his deadly duel with George Eacker, Alexander Hamiltonand Aaron Burr s duel, the symptoms of trauma, suicidal tendencies, and bipolar affective disorder. Philip Hamilton was Alexander and Eliza Hamilton s firstborn son. Philip was their eldest son, and he was Alexander Hamilton s pride and joy. Smart, handsome, and on an impressive path, Philip Hamilton was a rising star by the time he had graduated from college. After hearing about George Eacker s Fourth of July oration, in which Eacker criticises Hamilton s financial system, and the treasury department in general, Philip Hamilton grew unsettled and decided to confront George Eacker. Chernow describes the meeting between Philip Hamilton and George Eacker as contentious between both parties and shares of the constant threats of violence. Eventually, the two parted ways, only to result in an immediate challenge of a duel by Philip Hamilton and Richard Price. The argument between the two was harsh enough that Eacker and Price had a separate duel, albeit resulting in nothing, before Hamilton and Eacker had a duel. Eacker and Hamilton both refused to apologize, and a duel between the two was scheduled as soon as possible in New Jersey. Asking for much needed advice from his father, Philip Hamilton received the advice to wait until Eacker fired, and then raise his gun and shoot up into the air. Throwing away one s shot, Alexander Hamilton argued, was a measure

One crisis that might be diminutive in nature for one person can be colossal in nature to another person. This dichotomy gives rise to differences of opinions, and different opinions can lead to arguments. If arguments are weighed purposefully and fairly in conflict, then resolutions can lead to a meaningful outcome. However, if arguments are just for the sake of arguments, this might lead to an undesired situation leading to conflicts among people. Conflicts among ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These emails turned into a workplace disagreement. The differences in opinion caused the meeting to be rescheduled. The affect hindered our organizational performance. In my conflict, we need to examine different reasons for conflicts. According to research, latent conflict represents all of the potential sources of conflict at the individual or group level (Baack, 2012, p.7.3). For example, the source of the conflict between the team member and me was a difference in opinion on how to organize the group assigned task. Again, not all conflicts are the same, and for this reason, management should have a heightened awareness of the different levels of conflicts in the workplace. According to research, Resolving conflict cannot take place until the level has been properly identified (Baack, 2012, p. 7.3). The four levels of conflict are intrapersonal or intra psychic conflict, interpersonal conflict, intra group conflict, intergroup conflict. In my situation, the level of conflict with the team member was an intra group conflict. According to research, Intra group conflict refers to incidents between members of a group. Disagreements about goals, methods of operation, and leadership create intra group conflicts. When conflicts are not properly managed and resolved, the end results can be poor decisions and ineffective group functioning (Baack, 2012). The source of the intra group conflict was task related. According to studies, task
