Eight Interlocking Theoretical Concepts On Personality And...
Eight Interlocking Theoretical Concepts
Bowen s theory is influenced by eight interlocking theoretical concepts to explain the family unit s
emotional functioning (H. Goldenberg L. Goldenberg, 2013). The interlocking concepts explain the
process of emotions within the family system as they are developed throughout the generations
(Wineck, 2010). One must fully understand each concept individually in order to fully grasp the
impact within the family unit (H. Goldenberg L. Goldenberg, 2013). Concepts one through five were
Bowen s original theoretical viewpoints (Baege, 2006). According to Bowen (1976), his sixth concept
was rooted in Walter Toman s Family Constellation: It s Effect on Personality and Social Behavior
publication from 1961. In 1975, the final two concepts were developed and added to complete the
entire eight interlocking theoretical concepts (Bowen, 1976). Bowen never published or created any
work on a ninth concept; however, spirituality was mentioned as a possibility for a ninth concept.
Spirituality concept is an undeveloped concept with promise, particularly within the field of addiction
studies. Underneath every concept is the basic assumption that chronic anxiety prompts the
development of each concept premise (H. Goldenberg L. Goldenberg, 2013). These interlocking
constructs are known as differentiation of self, triangles, nuclear family emotional system, family
projection, process, emotional cutoff, multigenerational transmission process, sibling

Wang Lung s Life In The Good Earth
In The Good Earth by Pearl S. Buck, Wang Lung s life is affected by the land, making the land
important to him. As he makes money from the land s harvest, he becomes rich and does not work on
the land. Wang Lung has other problems to face because he forgets about how important the land is to
him. In the end, he realizes the land provides him with not only food and profit but also happiness. In
the beginning of the novel, Wang Lung is getting ready to go to the House of Hwang to meet O lan.
He brings her to his home on the farm and they get married. Soon they find out O lan is expecting a
baby. She gives birth to a son but quickly returns to the fields to work beside her husband. On New
Year s day, O lan presents her son to her old mistress at the House of Hwang. Wang Lung is proud of
O lan for giving him a son. After Wang Lung and O lan get married, they start planting crops because
it is the way they earn money. Even after O lan gives birth, she goes out to the fields because she
knows they need to earn a living. After the family s New Year s day visit to the House of Hwang,

been robbed but does not like the fact that his uncle, aunt, and cousin are living off of him like a

they please. Locusts are another problem because they come and eat the crops. Wang Lung and other
farmers have to flood their fields to keep the locusts from eating and reproducing. Many people starve
but Wang Lung keeps his family and the people living in his house full of food. The people need the
land to produce food which shows how important the land is to them. The land is especially important
to Wang Lung because he can provide for the people living in his house when others

The Yellow Wallpaper from the Point of View of a Doctor s Wife The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte
Perkins Gilman, is a story told from the first person point of view of a doctor s wife who has nervous
condition. The first person standpoint gives the reader access only to the woman s thoughts, and thus,
is limited. The limited viewpoint of this story helps the reader to experience a feeling of isolation, just
as the wife feels throughout the story. The point of view is also limited in that the story takes places in
the present, and as a result the wife has no benefit of hindsight, and is never able to actually see that
the men in her life are part of the reason she never gets well. This paper will discuss how Gilman s

No matter what a woman did or thought, she was still seen as the lesser of the sexes. Like the narrator,
women of that time were directed to suppress their creativity as it threatened the dominating male s
sense of control. By having the narrator be forced to write in secret, There comes John, and I must put
this away he hates to have me write a word, Gilman was able to show that even the simplest things,
like wanting to write were forbidden, lest the male approved (392). Prohibited from working and not
being able to contribute to the household as a proper wife, the narrator begins to feel helpless: So I...
am absolutely forbidden to work until I am well again. Personally, I disagree with their ideas (390).
The narrator s husband and brother both exert their own will over hers, forcing her to do what they
think is the appropriate behavior for a sick woman. She has been given a schedule[d] prescription for
each hour in the day; [John] takes all care from me (391). The way that she is required to act involves
practically no exertion of her own free will. Instead, she is expected to obediently accept the fact that
her own ideas are mere fancy, and only the opinions of the men in her life can be trusted. The fact that
she is not allowed to think for herself is narrowing the extent of her authority in her life and of her
autonomy. With no creative outlet her mind starts to find things upon which to dwell, things that only
she can see. Virtually imprisoned in

My Friends Begged Me At The New Comedy Central Show
My friends begged me to watch the new Comedy Central show. They said it was the funniest female
friendly series they had ever seen. Abbi Abrams and Ilana Wexler (played by Abbi Jacobson and Ilana
Glazer), the shows main characters, get into dialogs and different situations that center around casual
sex and bathroom humor, which bend and break existing gender norms. After watching just one
episode, I was completely hooked. It became a weekly ritual for my roommates and I. Abbi and Ilana
play brilliantly to the younger generation by using a combination of intelligence, humor, and far out
scenarios that provoke thought and laughter. It s quite possible the most pure female friendship ever
depicted on television (Blair 2014). Abbi and Ilana are not glamorized, hyper sexualized, or pitted
against each other, they are just funny, bright individuals who are invested in their friendship and
themselves. Broad City is something different, it does not hang on to sexual conduct or make men the
center of their day to day life, Abbi and Ilana are supremely focused on their own lives. What makes
this show so empowering is the fact that their sexuality, gender roles, and behavior are universal and
genuine. Because Broad City depicts women in an equal and realistic state, the humor, language, and
behavior come together to create a program that changes gender expectations and provides a more
complete and open view of women s sexuality.
The women of Broad City deal with issues that sexes

Command Economy Vs. Command Economies
A market economy is an economy in which decisions regarding investment production and
distribution are based on supply and demand, and prices of goods and services are determined in a free
price system. (Alvather, 1993) Market economies may be practical, but they also rest upon the
fundamental principle of individual freedom: freedom as a consumer to choose among competing
products and services; freedom as a producer to start or expand a business and share its risks and
rewards; freedom as a worker to choose a job or career, join a labor union, or change employers.
Market economies are not without their inequities and misuses. A number of them genuine, however it
is likewise verifiable that cutting edge private endeavor and entrepreneurial soul, coupled with
political vote based system, offers the best prospect for safeguarding flexibility and giving the most
extensive streets to investment development and success for all. (Davis, 2009) A command economy
is a system where the government, rather than the free market, determines what goods should be
produced, how much should be produced and the price at which the goods will be offered for sale. The
command economy is a key feature of any communist society. Command economy also known as are
not able to proficiently allot merchandise on account of the learning issue that the focal organizer s
powerlessness to observe how much of a good ought to be delivered. Shortages and surpluses are a
common consequence of command economies.

The American Of The British Empire Essay
In the British Empire, existed thirteen colonies found between the 1600s and the 1700s on the Atlantic
Coast of North America. These thirteen colonies later on combined together into a new nation
currently known as the United States of America. Immigrations from Britain and Germany had high
growth rates and were all successful and thriving. These colonies had self governments furthermore to
similar political and legal systems. The self government systems were based mainly on farmers who
owned a piece of land and served on local juries. To the British, the American lands were there
generally to provide raw materials to Britain and be purchasers of British goods.
The American Revolution rose when the Thirteen American Colonies did not accept monarchy,
aristocracy, and refused to follow the authority of Britain. The revolution was a consequence of social,
political, and logical transformation in the American Society. Due to those aspects, the Americans had
to seek a way to escape the British powers.
When the fight for Independence first started, the main conflict between Britain and the American
colonists was particularly caused by the financial reasons of the War. The British were certain that the
American colonists were not playing the financial role correctly. Shortly after, the tension elevated and
resulted in the enforcement of The Stamp Act, which was a law that obligated every colonist to pay a
tax on printed paper that includes official documents, such as bills, and

Holy Sexism In Wonder Women s Comics
Holy Sexism Batman! Caped crusaders and masked vigilantes rule the comic scene. What sets
superheroes apart from the rest of their worlds are their costumes. Costumes define the superhero,
disguising and distinguishing them from the crowd. Superhero attire has been a staple for characters
ever since the beginning of superhero comics. The purpose of comics has changed over time mostly to
reflect what is going on outside of the books politically, socially and artistically. Just as times have
changed, costumes have changed too and not always for the better. In comics, there is a trend of
female characters changing drastically and often shortening while their male counterparts only get a
new paint job, these trends are painfully obvious when comparing Wonder Woman s costumes and
Captain America s. Sexism in comics is nothing new and costumes could be at the center of it. Before
delving into the actual comics it s important to know the about the phases of comics. Over the year s
comics have gone through phases often referred to as the Golden, Silver, Bronze and Modern ages.

radio was the main source of entertainment then, which gave comics a large market. However as

The book All the Light We Cannot See takes place in Europe, in three main locations: Hitler s
Germany, Paris, and the walled city of Saint Malo, Brittany from the mid 1930s to the roaring and
murderous times of World War Two. It focuses on the two main characters in the book: one, an
orphaned German soldier to be named Werner; and the other Marie Laure a blind Parisian living with
her father. How their stories will intertwine is quite a mystery. While Werner struggles in the life of an
orphan, he, along with his sister, discovers his true calling. Werner has a talent for electricity in

What Is The Similarities Between The Hapolis And Hagia Sophia
I decided to compare the Pantheon and Hagia Sophia. The Pantheon is in Rome, Italy and the Hagia
Sophia is located in Istanbul, Turkey previously Constantinople. I chose these structures because the
construction of domes fascinates me. How the domes were constructed is explained in the text, yet the
concept still baffles me how people were actually able to build domes with the technology present
then and that the domes did not collapse on themselves.
The primary similarity between the two works are the massive domes topping them. The second
similarity is that both the Pantheon and the Hagia Sophia served as a place of worship. The Pantheon
was dedicated to all the Roman gods, then was later donated to the Pope and used as a church. The
Hagia Sophia was originally a church commissioned by the Byzantine emperor, Justinian. ... Show

There were riots which led to Hagia being destroyed. Emperor Justinian had Anthemius Isidorus
rebuilt it. The Hagia Sophia supported the dome using pendentives. The central dome sits on top of a
ring of windows which gives a mystical effect that it is floating on heavenly light and not masonry.
The light shines off the mosaics and marble walls and floor defining the space. The dome is 108 feet
across and 180 high. Its interior has colored stones from around the world along the floors and walls.
It has Christian mosaics on the walls. The use of pendentives made buttresses, large internal northern
and southern walls, and eastern and western half domes to necessary. The pendentives transfer the
weight from the dome to the piers beneath instead of to the walls. The walls were concealed and not

As a result he was not obliged to take the post in order to mitigate the losses.
SCRUTINY OF CAUSATION AND REMOTENESS OF DAMAGES
To avoid undue hardship to the defaulting party a line must be drawn separating damages resulting
from his breach for which he should be liable and damages which, although in the broad sense of the
word are as a result of his breach, are so remote to extent that he should not be liable for them. This
line is drawn when separating General (intrinsic) damages from Special (extrinsic) damages.
The courts insist that the damages should be direct rather than indirect. Direct damages are also known
as general or intrinsic damages. They flow naturally and generally from the kind of breach of contract
in question.
Indirect damages are special or extrinsic damages, which are only recovered in special circumstances
attending the conclusion of the contract.
In Zimbabwe there is only one possible test that could be applied to decide whether special or
extrinsic damages can be recovered for breach of contract. This test is the contemplation principle.
The test applied under this principle is to check whether the contracting parties actually or
presumptively foresaw that the breach of contract in question would result in the type of loss being
sued for. Case in point is that of Collective Self Finance Scheme (CFC) v Asharia (A) year 200 in
which CFC contracted to buy a property from the respondent and paid a deposit. CFC later repudiated

Michel Foucault s Theory Of Discipline And Punishment
Michel Foucault states in Discipline and Punishment that the Panopticon is a marvelous machine
which, whatever use one may wish to put it to, produces homogeneous effects of power (Foucault
188). Examining the evolution, physical characteristics, and psychological effects of the Panopticon
allows one to understand the mechanism by which the Panopticon produces power. Most inventions
develop through an evolutionary process while attempting to improve a situation or solve a problem.
Often, a prototype precedes a new structure or mechanism. Foucault uses the term projects to describe
two historical events and the social responses to resolve the problems associated with these events. He
suggests that the Panopticon developed from these two projects, the quarantine of the plague and
colonizing the lepers. Foucault describes how the Panopticon developed from a seventeenth century
order issued to deal with the scourge of the plague. First, a strict spatial partitioning: the closing of the
town and its outlying districts was mandated (Foucault 181). The town was further divided into
quarters, streets, and households. A syndic who was in the charge of an intendant supervised each
family in their residence. A considerable body of militia and guards at the gate ensured that the
magistrate over the town had absolute authority (Foucault 181). Only the syndics, intendants, and
guards moved about the streets (Foucault 181). They monitored and reported the

The Youth suicide prevention program put out statistics saying, 2001 in the US, 4,250 young people
between the ages of ten and twenty four died by suicide, which is an average of one suicide roughly

Teen suicide is a bigger problem than people realize with rates of suicide tripling since 1970. It is an

The Pros And Cons Of Nannotechnology
Introduction to what nanotechnology is:
One would at first believe that it is pure imagination, when told what nanotechnology is, it is going to
completely change the way that we act, think, and as a whole, change the way that our society works
and interacts within itself. In other words, dictionary.com has defined nanotechnology as A technology
executed on the scale of less than 100 nanometers, thegoal of which is to control individual atoms and
molecules, especially tocreate computer chips and other microscopic devices. , this means, that
nanotech operates on a scale 1,0 × 10 9 meters to 1,0 × 10 7 meters. To give a mental representation of
this, if a marble were a nanometer, then one meter would be the size of the
Earth(http://www.nano.gov/nanotech 101/what/definition). Just having to imagine that number is
complicated confusing. Already now, the number seems to be impossible to even imagine, but the
mere fact that nanotechnology is a tech that operates and interferes with these molecules on a
molecular level is just fascinating. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Richard Fairbanks and Takeshi Yasuda s Ceramics Essay
Richard Fairbanks and Takeshi Yasuda s Ceramics Richard Fairbanks, although many times

Paul Bonifas, who taught at the University of Washington, was one who left a huge impact on
Fairbanks work. Fairbanks created a system of sketching pottery profiles, which stemmed from
Bonifas teachings, as a mean of thinking on paper. This approach to pottery through sketching was a
crucial element that separated Fairbanks from many other Asian inspired American peers. Although,

Marked Woman Deborah Tannen Summary
Marked Women
In Deborah Tannen s article There is No Unmarked Woman she focuses on how women are being
misconceived and prejudged on solely the way they re dressed. The main point in the article is that
there is no such thing as an unmarked woman men have the option and women simply do not. To be
marked in the way Tannen states it is changing the meaning of a word by simply adding a participle,
but that participle has no meaning on its own. Deborah Tannen points out that even in the English
language marked is a staple of linguistic theory. By simply adding a linguistic participle to a word that
already has no meaning by itself can change the meaning of a word. As Tannen states in her article
that women must make a decision on how they wish to appear on a day to day basis through their
makeup, hair style, shoes, clothes, etc. When women are choosing how to appear everyday they re
trying to escape the preconceptions that men never really have to face due to more narrow decisions.
Tannen makes a good statement when she refers to the research of Ralph Fasold in which men are
actually marked. Fasold points out that girls are born with fully female bodies, while boys are born
with modified female bodies. Tannen writes. In conclusion Tannen says how she s upset the ... Show

Tannen seems to have a lot of assumptions which relate to events or situations that she has

good point that hairstyles are something that sets women apart from each other. There was no marine
crew cut or oily longish hair falling into eyes, no asymmetrical, two tiered construction to swirl over a
bald top. Tannen states. She explains that for men, there are basically one or two, hairstyles in the
workforce leaving them with no choices, unlike women. Therefore, since men don t have a choice
unlike the men, women can automatically be marked or

What Is The Schlieffen Plan
This paper will examine and discuss the German Schlieffen Plan utilized during World War I. The
Schlieffen Plan was designed by Chief of the General Staff of the German Army Alfred von
Schlieffen, as a strategy for invading France, while also holding off Russia. Schlieffen wanted the
attack to be a swift and decisive strike to ensure that France would capitulate quickly, allowing
Germany to send their forces on the French front over to the Russian front, combining their armies
into one force that could then invade Russia. One of the main points of the strategy, was that Germany
would go through Belgium and attack France where it was weaker, instead of the Maginot Line, which
was heavily fortified. The army would then sweep around and take Paris.

Importance of Obeying Traffic Laws Essay
The Importance of Obeying Traffic Laws Traffic laws are designed to protect you and other drivers on
the road. If we do not follow them we are not only putting ourselves at risk but also innocent
bystanders and drivers. By knowing the rules of the road, practicing good driving skills and generally
taking care as a road user, you help play a vital role in preventing a crash. You will also be making
road safety policies more effective. Many factors play a role in road safety including following the
speed limits that are posted and making sure safety equipment is properly installed and used. I will
also discuss the skills that are expected and needed to be an efficient driver including the ability to act
responsibly, the ability to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Basically the higher the speed of a vehicle, the more difficult collision avoidance becomes and the
greater the damage if a collision does occur. Speeding is defined as the act or an instance of driving,
especially a motor vehicle, faster than is allowed by law. Speeding is often one component of
aggressive driving which is defined as committing a combination of moving traffic offenses so as to
endanger other persons or property. There are strong direct relationships between the speed at which
we drive and the risk of crash involvement and the injuries sustained if a crash results. The probability
of injury and the severity of those injuries increases exponentially with vehicle speed. Even small
increases in speeds result in a large increase in the forces experienced by the vehicle occupants or
other road users. Put simply, the faster you drive, the harder you hit and the more severe the injuries
you or someone else are likely to suffer. Traveling over the speed limit can be especially dangerous in
bad weather conditions. Speeding was a factor in 53 percent of fatal crashes that occurred when there

Visual Cliff Summary
Psychologists Eleanor J. Gibson and Richard D. Walk at Cornell University conducted the Visual Cliff
experiment to investigate depth perception in human and animal species. The visual cliff apparatus
allowed them to experimentally adjust the visual, tactical, and other stimuli associated with the
simulated cliff while protecting the experimental subjects from injury. The cliff is created by
connecting a transparent glass surface, which is supported a foot or more above the floor, to a sheet of
patterned material. On one side of the glass, the patterned sheet is placed against the glass, given the
glass a solid look. On the other side, a sheet of the same patterned material is placed on the floor
beneath the glass, creating the visual cliff. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Cognitive theory is based on internal states, such as motivation, decision making, thinking, and
attention. Children show some signs of thinking and decision making during the study; when the
infants were called from the cliff side, they examined the glass by patting it, and even though they feel
the solid glass they still didn t cross to their mothers. They also peered down the glass and backed
away. They didn t simply cross over, they stopped, thought wether this is safe to cross or not, and
made the decision to not cross regardless of the hardness of the glass they touched. This is where the
developmental theory comes. We learn that infants perception of depth develops faster than their
locomotors abilities. Many of the children did supported themselves on the glass as they maneuvered
awkwardly on the bored, and some even backed into the glass while looking at their mothers; if the
glass weren t there, they would have fallen and hurt themselves. I believe that this study will help
people understand that children should not be left alone on the edge of beds or any place

Jesus said in Matthew 23:11, But, he that is greatest among you shall be your servant! This sentence
starts with a conjunction in a simple sentence. Don t miss the real reason he made this statement. It s
really easy to understand, but the statement is so complex, you must ask yourself these questions. Who
is serving whom? What order does one serve and in what manner is one serving? Is there service for
fear of retribution, or out of love? Is remuneration or reciprocity the reason for service or just
because?
Is this service about self or about the other person seeing God being glorified through service? This
question is the reason Cain was not able, even though he wanted to be Abel. His heart was not pure in

right place his gift would have been accepted. From this story many things come to mind marriages

The beam of approximately 30 inches gave the kyak excellent stability and combined with a sealable
waterproof gut skin parka and one or two recovery techniques, made it very seaworthy ( Zimmerly,

hold the ribs in place were made out of specially selected driftwood or caribou antler. The seal skin
was removed from any hair, dried, and then soaked in urine and rain water to make it flexible enough
to sew. Then the skins sewn together with sinew on the outside, and then re sewn on the inside with
dried beach grass to make sure it was waterproof. The skins are then lashed onto the frame and then
oiled with seal oil and then caulked with a mixture of moss and seal oil. (Delta Discovery) The shape
of a qayaq is the most important characteristic to determine whether it will flow well in the water.
When a qayaq floats, it displaces an amount of water that is equal to its weight because water is
incompressible. When the qayaq is moving, it displaces more water. The amount of displacement
depends on the weight of the qayaq and the speed it is moving. If the path of the water was blocked,
say by a flat front, more energy would be needed to move the qayaq. This is why streamlining, or
laminar flow is important and needs to be considered when looking at the physics of a qayaq.

The Rationale of Suicide in Bartleby Essay
The Rationale of Suicide in Bartleby
One of the most strikingly confusing details of Herman Melville s Bartleby is the repetitive use of the
specific form of his refusals; he prefers not to comply with his employer s demands. Bartleby never
argues for his convictions, rather he refuses on the grounds of his preference. Such a vast repetition,
along with its inherent perplexity, leads me to believe that the actual wording is symbolic in nature.
When someone is asked for his/her preferences, the question is directed to the individual s inner
motives and desires. Any question addressed as a preference question, usually grants the consideration
of the innermost inclinations. The lawyer never asked Bartleby ... Show more content on

It appears that Bartleby is hopelessly searching for something that he would actually prefer to do; an
assumption backed by his symbolic open eyed death at the end, and also by his reference to his
interests while discussing other job options with his boss: I would not like it at all (par. 204) is the
answer he repeats in different wording when offered five different lines of work. In other words, he is
connected to his inner inclinations (our pure will that can incline us to either take an action or refrain
from it), yet they do not incline him to do anything.
The reference to the dead letter solves the mystery; a letter that lacks an address is a dead letter; an
address is the letter s direction; for the lack of direction a letter dies.
The immediate equivalent is none other than Bartleby; he cannot find a thing that he wants to do; he is
missing a direction; for the lack of direction Bartleby dies. We can see that he follows his inclinations
for all his choices refer to his preferences. We can see that he is searching for something that would
interest him (for only interest inclines us to action). We can see that for failure to find his direction, he
prefers to die.
Melville might be referring to a little liked truth; once all masks of society are taken off, how many of
us are really following our pure inner inclinations?

and blower speed to accommodate your settings.
If your vehicle has the base option set up with two dials and slides to select a temperature range
between cold and hot, you do not have a blower module. Instead you have a blower resistor.
Nevertheless, both of these systems are troublesome and might need their respective parts replaced. It
s just important to make sure you know the difference and what parts are on your automobile.
Diagnosing a Defective Blower Control Module
On the automobiles we re discussing you access the blower module from the passenger side foot well.
On vehicles with high level trim there might be a hush panel to remove to gain access.
Another thing to take note of is that on most of these models the glove box will swing out of the way
when you push up on the stop tab in the upper left corner of the glove box compartment. When this
swings out of the way you have an excellent view of the blower motor and its two wire connector.
Although you probably have a bad blower module you still want to take a few basic tests before you
purchase the replacement parts. You want to check the fuses to make sure that they are not blown. If
they are blown it could be yet another sign that the module is drawing too much current.

South Korea s Historical Struggle With Tyrannical Rule Essay
Abstract Considering South Korea s historical struggle with tyrannical rule, the nation has become
quite a democratic force, mirroring its European and American counterparts. Being a country that
caters to different values, cultures, and social structures, there are some considerable differences of
their Criminal Justice System, specifically their criminal procedures, policing, and prison populations.
However, due to their adaption of Western legal traditions there are similar marks within South Korea
s laws and constitution. Introduction
In the face of the initial plan of a unified Korea in the 1943 Cairo Declaration, intensifying Cold War
resentment between the Soviet Union and the United States, as well as tensions within Korea with the
Korean War, eventually led to the establishment of separate governments, each with its own system,
and to the division of Korea into two political entities in 1948: North Korea and South Korea (Gohar,
1988). South Korea is a relatively small nation in the east located in the Southern portion of the
Korean Peninsula; it shares a properly guarded border with North Korea, a communistic nation. To
give more geographical perspective, South Korea is surrounded by the Yellow Sea and the Sea of
Japan, in which its namesake is not too far off in the southeastern direction. With a population of
around 50 million people, more than half of its people is located in the country s capital, Seoul (Joo,

The proprietorship is the simplest legal form of organization LFO one that has no separate legal

Vaccines
Antibiotic destroy bacterial pathogens. Antibiotics have different chemical structures, therefore
destroying pathogenic bacteria differently. There are two manners in which antibiotics can destroy
pathogenic material:
1. The bacterium cell is destroyed by causing the wall of the bacterium to weaken, therefore
disfiguring the cell and forcing the cell to burst, spilling all its contents, and destroying the cell from
spreading its pathogenic bacteria.

Physics of Firearms Essay
Shooting is a popular activity and it is enjoyed by many people, so much so that it is also done at a
competitive level. Although many people may have shot a firearm of some sort, few of those people
actually realize how much physics is involved with the shot.
So what exactly is Ballistics? Ballistics is the science or study of the motion of projectiles and in the
case of most firearms, these projectiles are the bullets. There are two things that affect the flight of a
bullet once it has been shot out of the gun. These things are the drag of air on the bullet and the force
of gravity acting upon the bullet.
The force of gravity acting upon the bullet is always in a constant direction, which is down, at a rate of
9.81m/s^2. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sectional density, in metric units, is calculated by multiplying the bullet weight in grams by 1.422,
then dividing this by the caliber, in millimeters, squared.
So what affect does sectional density have on the bullets trajectory? Sectional density is the number
that states the bullets ability to retain it s velocity. In other words, the higher the sectional density
value is, the flatter the trajectory of the bullet will be.
After the sectional density, next there is the shape of the bullet that affects its trajectory. The number
that is related to the shape of the bullets is called the Ballistic Coefficient (BC).
So how does the ballistic coefficient affect the bullet s trajectory? The BC is the ability for the bullet
to go through the air or it s air resistance. The higher the BC, the easier it is for the bullet to travel
through the air.
If one bullet has a ballistic coefficient of .273, and another bullet has a ballistic coefficient of .623, this
difference in the two BC values is due to the shape of the bullet. The rounded tip of the one bullet has
a harder time moving through the air than the other sharply tipped bullet.
So what other physics are involved in shooting a firearm? Energy! When a bullet is fired, it has a huge
amount of kinetic energy. This can be calculated using the formula F=MA. That is, the force, F, is
calculated with M, which is the mass of the bullet, times it s acceleration, A.

The Namesake, A Winner Of The Pulitzer Prize, By Jhumpa...
The Namesake The Namesake, a winner of the Pulitzer prize, is a novel by Jhumpa Lahiri published in
the year 2003. In the year 2007, The Namesake became a significant motion picture. The novel and

transitions, the theme is exhibit by the struggles the Ganguli family went through in America such as
Gogol s name, influence Indian traditions into the Gangulis lives of the children, and the failures in the
love affairs Gogol faced. The novel and film The Namesake both do one excellent job portraying the

That is the image of a tsunami and they strike somewhere in the world almost every year. Some
archeologists say that a mediterranean tsunami hit the north shore of Crete about 3500 years ago
which sent Minoan civilization to surrender to Mycenaen Greeks. In the fifth century B.C. the Greek
historian, Thuydides, was the first to document the connection between earthquakes and tsunamis. The
majority of tsunamis are in the Indian and Pacific oceans where the Tectonic plated collide and the one
carrying dense oceanic crust dives under the more floatable one forming a deep ocean trench.
Normally it happens smoothly, but sometimes they become stuck and friction strain builds up, then it
releases energy which raise and lower the water above it which becomes a tsunami. Created from the
seafloor up they grow in dangerous heights in shallow waters only because in the deep oceans it barely

How Does Theseus Value The Giver
The Greeks valued Theseus nobility and bravery, and even today, his traits would be still be valued.
We live in a world where so much time is spent on building a future for ourselves, that it doesn t give
us much time to be adventurous. This is seen in a number books, including Divergent and The Giver.
Divergent revolves about this character who looked down on for being different in a community
where all is standardized. In The Giver, everything is regulated, but one character has a special gift
which makes him stand out. These books are fairly modern, which makes me believe that Theseus
traits would still be valued. Bravery is not something that is common and sticking to your morals can
be difficult when you live in such an opinionated world.

Nuclear Power in the Soviet Union
The Soviet Union, after World War II, had begun building many facilities for nuclear reprocessing
using many radioactive components. The Russian government, being behind in the nuclear era,
decided they needed to move quickly and start producing a sustainable nuclear chain reaction with
secrecy. One of these facilities they built was so discreet it wasn t on any official maps at that time. In
the town of Ozyorsk, Russia they built the Mayak nuclear fuel processing complex. This particular
accident has been titled and associated with Kryshtym because that was the closest town on an official
map that they could categorize it with. They built this complex between 1945 and 1948 to produce
plutonium for nuclear weapons. Since they had to move fast at building this complex, as well as poor
understanding or little education of nuclear safety, and major disregards for human wellness, the
systems were poorly built. They used what is called an open cycle cooling system, in which they
pumped the water back and forth into their water source. Their main water source was Lake Karachay,
as well as the Tech River. All 6 reactors that the Mayak nuclear complex had used the open cycle
cooling system. They used huge lids weighing 160 tons for the tops of these radioactive components
and systems, and even had them buried 8.2 meters (27 feet) under ground. With these cooling systems
being built with the eager notion to be ahead in the nuclear era, they weren t prepared for any kind of
error. If

Type I Supernova

Literary Analysis and Comp. II
Mrs. Mikowski
Supernovae
A supernova is a stellar explosion that occurs at the end of a star s lifetime. It is one of the largest and
most energetic explosions in space (S1). A supernova can briefly outshine an entire galaxy and radiate
more energy than our sun will in its lifetime. That is about same brightness of 10 million suns (S2).
Supernovae happen about every 50 years in a galaxy about the size of the Milky Way, which could be
about every second in our universe (S3). Supernovae can happen in two ways depending on the mass
of the star; Type I or Type II.
A Type I supernova happens when the star steals matter from a neighbor until a nuclear reaction
ignites. Type I supernovae are generally thought to come from white dwarf stars only in binary star
systems (S1). A white dwarf star is what stars like our sun become after they have used up their
nuclear fuel. As the gas of the neighboring star grows onto the white dwarf, the white dwarf is
progressively and constantly compressed, and after a while, sets off a nuclear reaction inside the star
that eventually leads to an energetic supernova outburst (S3). ... Show more content on

Like our sun, it will eventually run out of hydrogen and helium fuel at the star s core. However, it will
have enough mass and pressure to fuse carbon (S2). Next, over time, heavier elements build up at the
center and it becomes layered like an onion (S2). The elements will become lighter and move towards
the outside of the star. The core will heat up and become dense. The core will become extremely
heavy; so heavy that its gravitational force will not be able withstand it; causing it to explode. The
explosion spews out stellar material throughout space

Research Paper On Magnets
Levitating is not only for magicians, but for magnets too. Scientist have been using magnetism to
create levitation for years. Recently, they have advanced their technology and expanded their
knowledge about magnetism and levitation and conformed them to be used in everyday life. Magnetic
levitation can be broken down into so many different topics such as magnetism and levitation, but
there is a much deeper meaning to magnetic levitation. A magnet is an object that has a magnetic field.
It can attract heavy objects such as iron and steel. A magnet can be in many shapes and sizes. The
word magnet came from the elderly Cretan shepherd, Magnes. He supposedly found a rock that had a
strong magnetic force. In the rock was large amounts of lodestone. The most common magnet used
today is the bar magnet. They can also be used in compasses. ... Show more content on

Magnetic levitation uses the natural repelling nature of the poles that are of the same kind to control
levitation. This can come in many different forms and all made differently. One way is permanent
magnets, which is the easiest of all the forms because it does not require any outside material to make
the levitation, but it is not very controllable. Magnetism is the main component in the levitation act.
Magnetism has been around ever since Earth was created. It is the force that is generated by the
motion of electrons within its atoms. Earth spins and has gravity because of magnetism. It is created
within the processes inside of earth, the core. Earths core is made of iron and ore that is constantly in a
spinning motion which forms a pure magnetic force. Magnetism also creates north and south poles
that the earth spins. The magnetism that earth gives off is called earths magnetic

Virginia Woolf Quotes
Virginia Woolf is a master in her craft and is able to display the truth of many situations one of these
was in this quote ¨He turned of his own accord and walked steadily in advance of the arms, conscious
of a little amusement at the strange way in which people behaved merely because someone was dead.
Mrs Woolf captured the numbness and confusion that a person feels when they lose those dearest to
them. Shortly after this quote the young man who it is referring to snaps because he realises that he
will have to live in a world without the departed. It is moments like this that Mrs Woolf connects so
deeply to the true emotions that she writes these incredible works that don t romanticize moments of
true emotion as many pieces do. This book ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The whole story is basically this story about how society is shaping this young girl into a woman. The
metaphor is that Virginia Woolf didn t like societies ideals for what a woman had to be and so instead
of allowing this woman to grow, Woolf kills the girl off in an effort to show that societies ideals would
never corrupt that girl. VIrginia Woolf also uses a metaphor when the girl is dying. The girl believe
she is seeing a woman holding a candle. This woman was described as having an almost sinister
presence and was with the girl ass she dreamt of wandering by a river. THe metaphor is that this old
woman is an embodiment of death and the candle is helping to guide this girl towards it and the river
is what must be crossed for the girl to reach death. Mrs Woolf also writes in many smaller paragraphs
instead of fewer large ones. She does this because she has no narration of her piece and the point of
view switches many times. For the same reason, most of the book is dialogue instead of just her
talking as the writer. This also allows for a lot more depth to be built with the characters in the

Taking a Look at WESCAPE Development
The first subject that must be viewed before looking at the actual WESCAPE Development is the
demographics of Cape Town and further the Western Cape. The Western Cape is home to 5 822 734
million people; this would be approximately 11, 2 % (5 822 734 / 51 770 560) of the South Africa s
total population. Western Cape s population has grown from 3 956 875 in 2006 to 5 822 734 in 2011.
From 2006 till 2011, it is estimated that the Western Cape has received a net migration of 225 657 into
the province.
It is also been identified according to many demographic statistics that the Western Cape is one of the
main two provinces in which people move to. This clearly indicates how there is an influx of people
moving in to the Western Cape and how there is an increased demand of housing. It is also presumed
that the Western Cape will have a population growth rate of 2.6% .
In terms of the new WESCAPE Development, it must be asked if this project is another new type of
racial separating schemes, similar to the ones found in Apartheid. To determine the outcome of this
statement, the makeup of the Western Cape s population must be looked at in finer detail.
2011 Black Coloured Indian/Asain White Other
Western Cape 32.9 % 48.8 % 1.0 % 15.7 % 1.6 %
As displayed in the table above, the majority of the Western Cape s population is made up of Coloured
people. The reason we need to look at this topic is so it can give necessary evidence showing if this
new WESCAPE Development is

  • 2. Eight Interlocking Theoretical Concepts On Personality And... Eight Interlocking Theoretical Concepts Bowen s theory is influenced by eight interlocking theoretical concepts to explain the family unit s emotional functioning (H. Goldenberg L. Goldenberg, 2013). The interlocking concepts explain the process of emotions within the family system as they are developed throughout the generations (Wineck, 2010). One must fully understand each concept individually in order to fully grasp the impact within the family unit (H. Goldenberg L. Goldenberg, 2013). Concepts one through five were Bowen s original theoretical viewpoints (Baege, 2006). According to Bowen (1976), his sixth concept was rooted in Walter Toman s Family Constellation: It s Effect on Personality and Social Behavior publication from 1961. In 1975, the final two concepts were developed and added to complete the entire eight interlocking theoretical concepts (Bowen, 1976). Bowen never published or created any work on a ninth concept; however, spirituality was mentioned as a possibility for a ninth concept. Spirituality concept is an undeveloped concept with promise, particularly within the field of addiction studies. Underneath every concept is the basic assumption that chronic anxiety prompts the development of each concept premise (H. Goldenberg L. Goldenberg, 2013). These interlocking constructs are known as differentiation of self, triangles, nuclear family emotional system, family projection, process, emotional cutoff, multigenerational transmission process, sibling ... The Yellow Wallpaper from the Point of View of a Doctor s Wife The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman, is a story told from the first person point of view of a doctor s wife who has nervous condition. The first person standpoint gives the reader access only to the woman s thoughts, and thus, is limited. The limited viewpoint of this story helps the reader to experience a feeling of isolation, just as the wife feels throughout the story. The point of view is also limited in that the story takes places in the present, and as a result the wife has no benefit of hindsight, and is never able to actually see that the men in her life are part of the reason she never gets well. This paper will discuss how Gilman s choice of point of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... No matter what a woman did or thought, she was still seen as the lesser of the sexes. Like the narrator, women of that time were directed to suppress their creativity as it threatened the dominating male s sense of control. By having the narrator be forced to write in secret, There comes John, and I must put this away he hates to have me write a word, Gilman was able to show that even the simplest things, like wanting to write were forbidden, lest the male approved (392). Prohibited from working and not being able to contribute to the household as a proper wife, the narrator begins to feel helpless: So I... am absolutely forbidden to work until I am well again. Personally, I disagree with their ideas (390). The narrator s husband and brother both exert their own will over hers, forcing her to do what they think is the appropriate behavior for a sick woman. She has been given a schedule[d] prescription for each hour in the day; [John] takes all care from me (391). The way that she is required to act involves practically no exertion of her own free will. Instead, she is expected to obediently accept the fact that her own ideas are mere fancy, and only the opinions of the men in her life can be trusted. The fact that she is not allowed to think for herself is narrowing the extent of her authority in her life and of her autonomy. Abbi Abrams and Ilana Wexler (played by Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer), the shows main characters, get into dialogs and different situations that center around casual sex and bathroom humor, which bend and break existing gender norms. After watching just one episode, I was completely hooked. It became a weekly ritual for my roommates and I. Abbi and Ilana play brilliantly to the younger generation by using a combination of intelligence, humor, and far out scenarios that provoke thought and laughter. It s quite possible the most pure female friendship ever depicted on television (Blair 2014). Abbi and Ilana are not glamorized, hyper sexualized, or pitted against each other, they are just funny, bright individuals who are invested in their friendship and themselves. Broad City is something different, it does not hang on to sexual conduct or make men the center of their day to day life, Abbi and Ilana are supremely focused on their own lives. What makes this show so empowering is the fact that their sexuality, gender roles, and behavior are universal and genuine. Because Broad City depicts women in an equal and realistic state, the humor, language, and behavior come together to create a program that changes gender expectations and provides a more complete and open view of women s sexuality. These thirteen colonies later on combined together into a new nation currently known as the United States of America. Immigrations from Britain and Germany had high growth rates and were all successful and thriving. These colonies had self governments furthermore to similar political and legal systems. The self government systems were based mainly on farmers who owned a piece of land and served on local juries. To the British, the American lands were there generally to provide raw materials to Britain and be purchasers of British goods. The American Revolution rose when the Thirteen American Colonies did not accept monarchy, aristocracy, and refused to follow the authority of Britain. The revolution was a consequence of social, political, and logical transformation in the American Society. Due to those aspects, the Americans had to seek a way to escape the British powers. What sets superheroes apart from the rest of their worlds are their costumes. Costumes define the superhero, disguising and distinguishing them from the crowd. Superhero attire has been a staple for characters ever since the beginning of superhero comics. The purpose of comics has changed over time mostly to reflect what is going on outside of the books politically, socially and artistically. Just as times have changed, costumes have changed too and not always for the better. In comics, there is a trend of female characters changing drastically and often shortening while their male counterparts only get a new paint job, these trends are painfully obvious when comparing Wonder Woman s costumes and Captain America s. The Pantheon is in Rome, Italy and the Hagia Sophia is located in Istanbul, Turkey previously Constantinople. I chose these structures because the construction of domes fascinates me. How the domes were constructed is explained in the text, yet the concept still baffles me how people were actually able to build domes with the technology present then and that the domes did not collapse on themselves. The primary similarity between the two works are the massive domes topping them. The second similarity is that both the Pantheon and the Hagia Sophia served as a place of worship. The Pantheon was dedicated to all the Roman gods, then was later donated to the Pope and used as a church. This line is drawn when separating General (intrinsic) damages from Special (extrinsic) damages. The courts insist that the damages should be direct rather than indirect. • 18. Michel Foucault s Theory Of Discipline And Punishment Michel Foucault states in Discipline and Punishment that the Panopticon is a marvelous machine which, whatever use one may wish to put it to, produces homogeneous effects of power (Foucault 188). Examining the evolution, physical characteristics, and psychological effects of the Panopticon allows one to understand the mechanism by which the Panopticon produces power. Most inventions develop through an evolutionary process while attempting to improve a situation or solve a problem. Often, a prototype precedes a new structure or mechanism. Foucault uses the term projects to describe two historical events and the social responses to resolve the problems associated with these events. He suggests that the Panopticon developed from these two projects, the quarantine of the plague and colonizing the lepers. Foucault describes how the Panopticon developed from a seventeenth century order issued to deal with the scourge of the plague. First, a strict spatial partitioning: the closing of the town and its outlying districts was mandated (Foucault 181). The town was further divided into quarters, streets, and households. A syndic who was in the charge of an intendant supervised each family in their residence. A considerable body of militia and guards at the gate ensured that the magistrate over the town had absolute authority (Foucault 181). Only the syndics, intendants, and guards moved about the streets (Foucault 181). They monitored and reported the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Pros And Cons Of Nannotechnology Introduction to what nanotechnology is: One would at first believe that it is pure imagination, when told what nanotechnology is, it is going to completely change the way that we act, think, and as a whole, change the way that our society works and interacts within itself. In other words, dictionary.com has defined nanotechnology as A technology executed on the scale of less than 100 nanometers, thegoal of which is to control individual atoms and molecules, especially tocreate computer chips and other microscopic devices. , this means, that nanotech operates on a scale 1,0 × 10 9 meters to 1,0 × 10 7 meters. To give a mental representation of this, if a marble were a nanometer, then one meter would be the size of the Earth(http://www.nano.gov/nanotech 101/what/definition). This in turn removed his pieces from any realm of perfection. In the end Fairbanks demonstrated, trough his pieces, the p [positive and negative approaches that he was exposed to during his years. Fairbanks wrote, My eyes are lazy and don t see well. With my hands I se, and that is good. I can hold the whole world in my hands when I am seeing with them a good pot. Then there is the earth: dense and heard, yet at one time it grew, expanded and breathed; there like seed to stalk to flower to fruit, it patiently endured the potters tactile search. The clay speaks softly but firmly to the potter, it is not afraid because it will always have the last word, even if it must atomize itself to return again and seeks its destiny anew in another s hands. • 22. Marked Woman Deborah Tannen Summary Marked Women In Deborah Tannen s article There is No Unmarked Woman she focuses on how women are being misconceived and prejudged on solely the way they re dressed. The main point in the article is that there is no such thing as an unmarked woman men have the option and women simply do not. To be marked in the way Tannen states it is changing the meaning of a word by simply adding a participle, but that participle has no meaning on its own. Deborah Tannen points out that even in the English language marked is a staple of linguistic theory. By simply adding a linguistic participle to a word that already has no meaning by itself can change the meaning of a word. As Tannen states in her article that women must make a decision on how they wish to appear on a day to day basis through their makeup, hair style, shoes, clothes, etc. When women are choosing how to appear everyday they re trying to escape the preconceptions that men never really have to face due to more narrow decisions. Tannen makes a good statement when she refers to the research of Ralph Fasold in which men are actually marked. Fasold points out that girls are born with fully female bodies, while boys are born with modified female bodies. Tannen writes. In conclusion Tannen says how she s upset the ... The Schlieffen Plan was designed by Chief of the General Staff of the German Army Alfred von Schlieffen, as a strategy for invading France, while also holding off Russia. Schlieffen wanted the attack to be a swift and decisive strike to ensure that France would capitulate quickly, allowing Germany to send their forces on the French front over to the Russian front, combining their armies into one force that could then invade Russia. One of the main points of the strategy, was that Germany would go through Belgium and attack France where it was weaker, instead of the Maginot Line, which was heavily fortified. Basically the higher the speed of a vehicle, the more difficult collision avoidance becomes and the greater the damage if a collision does occur. Speeding is defined as the act or an instance of driving, especially a motor vehicle, faster than is allowed by law. Speeding is often one component of aggressive driving which is defined as committing a combination of moving traffic offenses so as to endanger other persons or property. There are strong direct relationships between the speed at which we drive and the risk of crash involvement and the injuries sustained if a crash results. The probability of injury and the severity of those injuries increases exponentially with vehicle speed. Even small increases in speeds result in a large increase in the forces experienced by the vehicle occupants or other road users. Put simply, the faster you drive, the harder you hit and the more severe the injuries you or someone else are likely to suffer. Traveling over the speed limit can be especially dangerous in bad weather conditions. Speeding was a factor in 53 percent of fatal crashes that occurred when there was snow or slush on ... Walk at Cornell University conducted the Visual Cliff experiment to investigate depth perception in human and animal species. The visual cliff apparatus allowed them to experimentally adjust the visual, tactical, and other stimuli associated with the simulated cliff while protecting the experimental subjects from injury. The cliff is created by connecting a transparent glass surface, which is supported a foot or more above the floor, to a sheet of patterned material. On one side of the glass, the patterned sheet is placed against the glass, given the glass a solid look. They didn t simply cross over, they stopped, thought wether this is safe to cross or not, and made the decision to not cross regardless of the hardness of the glass they touched. The Rationale of Suicide in Bartleby Essay The Rationale of Suicide in Bartleby One of the most strikingly confusing details of Herman Melville s Bartleby is the repetitive use of the specific form of his refusals; he prefers not to comply with his employer s demands. Bartleby never argues for his convictions, rather he refuses on the grounds of his preference. Such a vast repetition, along with its inherent perplexity, leads me to believe that the actual wording is symbolic in nature. When someone is asked for his/her preferences, the question is directed to the individual s inner motives and desires. Any question addressed as a preference question, usually grants the consideration of the innermost inclinations. The lawyer never asked Bartleby ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It appears that Bartleby is hopelessly searching for something that he would actually prefer to do; an assumption backed by his symbolic open eyed death at the end, and also by his reference to his interests while discussing other job options with his boss: I would not like it at all (par. 204) is the answer he repeats in different wording when offered five different lines of work. In other words, he is connected to his inner inclinations (our pure will that can incline us to either take an action or refrain from it), yet they do not incline him to do anything. The reference to the dead letter solves the mystery; a letter that lacks an address is a dead letter; an address is the letter s direction; for the lack of direction a letter dies. The immediate equivalent is none other than Bartleby; he cannot find a thing that he wants to do; he is missing a direction; for the lack of direction Bartleby dies. We can see that he follows his inclinations for all his choices refer to his preferences. We can see that he is searching for something that would interest him (for only interest inclines us to action). We can see that for failure to find his direction, he prefers to die. South Korea s Historical Struggle With Tyrannical Rule Essay Abstract Considering South Korea s historical struggle with tyrannical rule, the nation has become quite a democratic force, mirroring its European and American counterparts. Being a country that caters to different values, cultures, and social structures, there are some considerable differences of their Criminal Justice System, specifically their criminal procedures, policing, and prison populations. Introduction In the face of the initial plan of a unified Korea in the 1943 Cairo Declaration, intensifying Cold War resentment between the Soviet Union and the United States, as well as tensions within Korea with the Korean War, eventually led to the establishment of separate governments, each with its own system, and to the division of Korea into two political entities in 1948: North Korea and South Korea (Gohar, 1988). • 40. Physics of Firearms Essay Shooting is a popular activity and it is enjoyed by many people, so much so that it is also done at a competitive level. Although many people may have shot a firearm of some sort, few of those people actually realize how much physics is involved with the shot. So what exactly is Ballistics? Ballistics is the science or study of the motion of projectiles and in the case of most firearms, these projectiles are the bullets. There are two things that affect the flight of a bullet once it has been shot out of the gun. These things are the drag of air on the bullet and the force of gravity acting upon the bullet. The force of gravity acting upon the bullet is always in a constant direction, which is down, at a rate of 9.81m/s^2. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sectional density, in metric units, is calculated by multiplying the bullet weight in grams by 1.422, then dividing this by the caliber, in millimeters, squared. So what affect does sectional density have on the bullets trajectory? Sectional density is the number that states the bullets ability to retain it s velocity. In other words, the higher the sectional density value is, the flatter the trajectory of the bullet will be. After the sectional density, next there is the shape of the bullet that affects its trajectory. The number that is related to the shape of the bullets is called the Ballistic Coefficient (BC). So how does the ballistic coefficient affect the bullet s trajectory? The BC is the ability for the bullet to go through the air or it s air resistance. The higher the BC, the easier it is for the bullet to travel through the air. If one bullet has a ballistic coefficient of .273, and another bullet has a ballistic coefficient of .623, this difference in the two BC values is due to the shape of the bullet. The rounded tip of the one bullet has a harder time moving through the air than the other sharply tipped bullet. So what other physics are involved in shooting a firearm? Energy! When a bullet is fired, it has a huge amount of kinetic energy. This can be calculated using the formula F=MA. That is, the force, F, is calculated with M, which is the mass of the bullet, times it s acceleration, A. For every action ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 44. Nuclear Power in the Soviet Union The Soviet Union, after World War II, had begun building many facilities for nuclear reprocessing using many radioactive components. The Russian government, being behind in the nuclear era, decided they needed to move quickly and start producing a sustainable nuclear chain reaction with secrecy. One of these facilities they built was so discreet it wasn t on any official maps at that time. In the town of Ozyorsk, Russia they built the Mayak nuclear fuel processing complex. This particular accident has been titled and associated with Kryshtym because that was the closest town on an official map that they could categorize it with. They built this complex between 1945 and 1948 to produce plutonium for nuclear weapons. Since they had to move fast at building this complex, as well as poor understanding or little education of nuclear safety, and major disregards for human wellness, the systems were poorly built. They used what is called an open cycle cooling system, in which they pumped the water back and forth into their water source. Their main water source was Lake Karachay, as well as the Tech River. All 6 reactors that the Mayak nuclear complex had used the open cycle cooling system. They used huge lids weighing 160 tons for the tops of these radioactive components and systems, and even had them buried 8.2 meters (27 feet) under ground. With these cooling systems being built with the eager notion to be ahead in the nuclear era, they weren t prepared for any kind of error. If ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Type I Supernova Maggie Barnard 8/25/15 Literary Analysis and Comp. II Mrs. Mikowski Supernovae A supernova is a stellar explosion that occurs at the end of a star s lifetime. It is one of the largest and most energetic explosions in space (S1). A supernova can briefly outshine an entire galaxy and radiate more energy than our sun will in its lifetime. That is about same brightness of 10 million suns (S2). Supernovae happen about every 50 years in a galaxy about the size of the Milky Way, which could be about every second in our universe (S3). Supernovae can happen in two ways depending on the mass of the star; Type I or Type II. A Type I supernova happens when the star steals matter from a neighbor until a nuclear reaction ignites. Type I supernovae are generally thought to come from white dwarf stars only in binary star systems (S1). A white dwarf star is what stars like our sun become after they have used up their nuclear fuel. As the gas of the neighboring star grows onto the white dwarf, the white dwarf is progressively and constantly compressed, and after a while, sets off a nuclear reaction inside the star that eventually leads to an energetic supernova outburst (S3). ... Next, over time, heavier elements build up at the center and it becomes layered like an onion (S2). The elements will become lighter and move towards the outside of the star. The core will heat up and become dense. The core will become extremely heavy; so heavy that its gravitational force will not be able withstand it; causing it to explode. The explosion spews out stellar material throughout space ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Research Paper On Magnets Levitating is not only for magicians, but for magnets too. Scientist have been using magnetism to create levitation for years. Recently, they have advanced their technology and expanded their knowledge about magnetism and levitation and conformed them to be used in everyday life. Magnetic levitation can be broken down into so many different topics such as magnetism and levitation, but there is a much deeper meaning to magnetic levitation. A magnet is an object that has a magnetic field. It can attract heavy objects such as iron and steel. A magnet can be in many shapes and sizes. The word magnet came from the elderly Cretan shepherd, Magnes. He supposedly found a rock that had a strong magnetic force. In the rock was large amounts of lodestone. The most common magnet used today is the bar magnet. They can also be used in compasses. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Magnetic levitation uses the natural repelling nature of the poles that are of the same kind to control levitation. This can come in many different forms and all made differently. One way is permanent magnets, which is the easiest of all the forms because it does not require any outside material to make the levitation, but it is not very controllable. Magnetism is the main component in the levitation act. Magnetism has been around ever since Earth was created. It is the force that is generated by the motion of electrons within its atoms. Earth spins and has gravity because of magnetism. It is created within the processes inside of earth, the core. Earths core is made of iron and ore that is constantly in a spinning motion which forms a pure magnetic force. Magnetism also creates north and south poles that the earth spins. The magnetism that earth gives off is called earths magnetic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 48. Virginia Woolf Quotes Virginia Woolf is a master in her craft and is able to display the truth of many situations one of these was in this quote ¨He turned of his own accord and walked steadily in advance of the arms, conscious of a little amusement at the strange way in which people behaved merely because someone was dead. Mrs Woolf captured the numbness and confusion that a person feels when they lose those dearest to them. Shortly after this quote the young man who it is referring to snaps because he realises that he will have to live in a world without the departed. It is moments like this that Mrs Woolf connects so deeply to the true emotions that she writes these incredible works that don t romanticize moments of true emotion as many pieces do. This book ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The whole story is basically this story about how society is shaping this young girl into a woman. The metaphor is that Virginia Woolf didn t like societies ideals for what a woman had to be and so instead of allowing this woman to grow, Woolf kills the girl off in an effort to show that societies ideals would never corrupt that girl. VIrginia Woolf also uses a metaphor when the girl is dying. The girl believe she is seeing a woman holding a candle. This woman was described as having an almost sinister presence and was with the girl ass she dreamt of wandering by a river. THe metaphor is that this old woman is an embodiment of death and the candle is helping to guide this girl towards it and the river is what must be crossed for the girl to reach death. Mrs Woolf also writes in many smaller paragraphs instead of fewer large ones. She does this because she has no narration of her piece and the point of view switches many times. For the same reason, most of the book is dialogue instead of just her talking as the writer. This also allows for a lot more depth to be built with the characters in the ... • 49. Taking a Look at WESCAPE Development The first subject that must be viewed before looking at the actual WESCAPE Development is the demographics of Cape Town and further the Western Cape. The Western Cape is home to 5 822 734 million people; this would be approximately 11, 2 % (5 822 734 / 51 770 560) of the South Africa s total population. Western Cape s population has grown from 3 956 875 in 2006 to 5 822 734 in 2011. From 2006 till 2011, it is estimated that the Western Cape has received a net migration of 225 657 into the province. It is also been identified according to many demographic statistics that the Western Cape is one of the main two provinces in which people move to. This clearly indicates how there is an influx of people moving in to the Western Cape and how there is an increased demand of housing. It is also presumed that the Western Cape will have a population growth rate of 2.6% . In terms of the new WESCAPE Development, it must be asked if this project is another new type of racial separating schemes, similar to the ones found in Apartheid. To determine the outcome of this statement, the makeup of the Western Cape s population must be looked at in finer detail. 2011 Black Coloured Indian/Asain White Other Western Cape 32.9 % 48.8 % 1.0 % 15.7 % 1.6 % As displayed in the table above, the majority of the Western Cape s population is made up of Coloured people. The reason we need to look at this topic is so it can give necessary evidence showing if this new WESCAPE Development is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
