Persuasive Essay On Sex Offenders
Many of us were raised knowing the story of Daniel Morcombe, the thirteen year old boy snatched
from a bus station found murdered with the intention of rape, 8 years laters. Before the murder of
Daniel, Brent Peter Cowan was a known child sex offender who had two previous offences with
minimal penalty. In an interview with police Cowan stated I never got to molest him or anything like
that. He panicked and I panicked and grabbed him around the throat and before I knew it he was dead.
Daniel is one of many innocent and trusting children who have fallen victim to these vicious repeat
offenders. Outside of the family, the first people thought to be responsible when a child is murdered,
raped or abducted tend to be sex offenders in the area, so why must a child endure such a heinous act
before this information is revealed to the public? I firmly believe that communities should be notified
if and when a known predator on the paedophile and sex offenders registry has entered their
neighbourhood. (Quite engaging, with a strong contention.)
A Hanson and Morton Bourgon study found that over a 15 year time period, the rate for recidivism
was a terrifying 35% for child molesters of boy victims and 24% for rapists. It is vital to consider that
there is an abundance of victims whose trauma prohibits them from coming forward therefore a
thoroughly accurate representation of repeat offences is severely limited. Brent Peter Cowan is a
prime example of a sex offender, whose minimal

Interview Dr. Marie Hobart Essay
On Sunday October 23rd at midday I had the opportunity to interview Dr. Marie Hobart from
Community Healthlink. For over twenty four years Dr. Marie Hobart has been an employee of
Community Healthlink as a psychiatrist and for the last ten to twelve years as the Chief Medical
Officer of CHL. She is also an employee of UMasss Memorial Healthcare, and a clinical associate
professor of psychiatry. Dr. Hobart s work with CHL focuses on people with serious and persistent
illness, developmental disabilities, and addiction and her goal in addition to helping patients one on
one is to help create a system of care for people who are traditionally not able to access care in other
ways (Hobart). Dr. Hobart explained that she always wanted to work in health, and working with
people in the community leading her to become a public psychiatrist in the city of Worcester,
Massachusetts. As Dr. Hobart works in the Worcester public health sector as both a practicing
physician and an administrator, her dual roles create a unique position as an agent of direct community
support and an advocate for changes to the public medical system. Dr. Hobart is a medically focused
community organizer and her work is most easily tied to the Women Centered model of community
development (Stall, Stoecker; 202). Her desire to see greater connections between medical assistance
and social aid, as well as, her work that recognizes the social factors that lead to health problems

Stricter Media Regulations
With the rise of new technologies, there is certain debates on whether or not media regulations are a
good or a bad thing. There are benefits and consequences for both sides. In a sense, regulations are an
essential element in our society. Every time there is a new technology, regulations must be made in
order to create rules that influencers and organizations must follow. Stricter media regulations means
would protect public interests, protect individual rights, insuring fair competition, and censoring
violent and innappropriate material.

On the other hand, the incorporation of media regulations by the
government could potentially unconstitutional and limit the freedoms of the press. One must look at
both sides to form their own opinion about how much regulation is needed. ... Show more content on

The Concepts Of Human Psychology
With each choice you take, each judgment you make, there is a conflict in your psyche; a fight
amongst instinct and rationale. Moreover, the instinctive piece of your brain is significantly more
intense than you may might suspect. The vast majority of us get a kick out of the chance to believe
that we are equipped for settling on sound choices. We may on occasion depend on our gut nature,
however in the event that essential we can approach our forces of motivation to touch base at a
consistent choice. Usually, we surmise that we have purposes behind what we trust, that is frequently a
misstep.

clue this is going on. This framework is your concealed auto pilot, and it has its very own brain. It is
sometimes known as the outsider inside. More often than not, our quick, instinctive personality is in

make every day. The issue comes when we permit our quick, instinctive framework to settle on
choices that we should disregard to our moderate, consistent framework. This is the place the
oversights sneak in.
Our reasoning is loaded with efficient errors referred to clinicians as intellectual predispositions and
they influence all that we do. They make us spend incautiously, be excessively impacted by what other

The Media Is Not A Solid Content
The media is not a solid content in itself but instead a wide term enveloping a diverse variety of

Treatment Of Symptoms Associated With Adhd
As mentioned previously in the review, the most commonly used interventions for the treatment of
symptoms associated with ADHD are behavioral therapy and pharmacotherapeutic medication
regimens. While both methods have been shown to produce positive outcomes ²individually, the
American Academy of Pediatrics recommends a combination of both methods when treating
symptoms. Pelham, Burrows MacLean, Gnagy, Fabiano, Coles, Tresco, Chacko, Wymbs, Wienke,
Walker, Hoffman (2005) examined the effect of transdermal methylphenidate treatment combined
with behavioral modification methods on ADHD symptomatic children.
Participants included twenty five males and 2 females between the ages of 6 and 12. All participants
were required to meet the DSM V criteria for ADHD. The researchers exposed participants to various
levels of methylphenidate treatment (placebo, 12.5 cm², 25 cm², 37.5 cm²), as well as two behavioral
modification conditions (modification, no modification). Participants in the behavior modification
condition were measured through a comprehensive system of cost reward components. Participants
were socially rewarded for high scores as well as rewards for meeting weekly goals. These behavioral
modification measures were adjusted to fit both classroom and recreational settings. In the NBM (no

this deceitful happiness, outrage breaks out from the government. It is unacceptable to stray from the
norms. It is a topic also portrayed in today s society. 1984, Brave New World, and contemporary

Pros And Cons Of Made In America
Made in America
The trend towards outsourcing overseas and the slowly decreasing of American manufacturing has
made it very difficult to find American made goods, but not impossible. There are a few small
businesses that are still dedicated to manufacturing goods in the United States, but in today s society,
they are hard to come by. Buying goods manufacturing in the USA is something that us consumers,
business owners and even the government can do to support these businesses that manufacture their
products in America.
Pros:

Outsourced jobs are usually done by workers who are overworked, underpaid, sometimes physically
abused or work in dangerous working environments.
3. Environment: By manufacturing goods in the United States, air pollution and environmental
burdens will definitely increase. Much of the production and manufacturing in America is dependent
on energy and relies on many different resources for producing goods. As Americans, we want to live
sustainably and support USA, but by increasing United States manufacturing, we re increasing air
pollution and will continue hurting the environment if we re using American resources and production.
4. Overseas Competition: 98% of clothes bought in the United States are made overseas, with China
being by far the leading country, which leaves only 2% made in America. There is no way that
America could even come close to the amount of goods that China produces. In just one city in China,
they manufacture 1/3 of the world s socks! I don t think it is even feasible to compete with China now,
or ever. What we re good at manufacturing here in the United States is the production of advanced
goods such as winter proof, waterproof, and wind proof clothing. But besides that, I don t think we
will ever be able to compete with China s high rate of production.

A Psychologically Fascinating Tool For The Classroom
A psychologically fascinating tool for the classroom Video games get a bad name for themselves
because some people will spend hours in front of a screen working towards a virtual goal. They are
blamed way too often for making kids violent and giving them an unrealistic view of the real world.
Video games such as Atari s Pong and Tomohiro Nishikado s Space Invaders only had one objective
(Welch). Now there are games like Fallout 3 and Assassin s Creed where there are many objectives,
puzzles, and achievable items. When video games were first made they were seen as mindless
entertainment for young and even middle aged people. Now, there are games that give you
entertainment, but also educate you in a fun and creative way. Video games should be played more
because there are many lessons and educative tools used to help people learn and think while playing
and also having fun. According to an article published by the private University of Rochester,
cognitive scientists did a study on fast paced games like Call of Duty and Battlefield, and they help
players be able to think on the move and multitask. They also help students in classrooms by giving
them the ability to have a better understanding of core materials and take tests easier. The human brain

However, upon visiting this particular session I saw progression in each participant. I was very
pleased with what I witnessed as a visitor.
The session began with a moment of silence and a serenity prayer. Kyle read the protocol, preamble,
traditions, and outline for the night. He even identified 10 step promises that they understand as
promises that come with overcoming alcoholism. He explained everything that would occur, and why
it was chosen to occur. Kyle identified the different steps that are taken within the group to recovery

China s Devaluation Of Its Currency
China s devaluation of its currency has been causing headlines, but what are the effects on its tourism?
Are the Chinese likely to swap outbound tourism with inbound travel?
China s decision to devalue its currency in quick succession during the second week of August caused
headlines around the globe. The decision sent shockwaves, with the effects still unravelling today.
Tourism is among the industries feeling the heat. Will the weaker yuan mean the boom in China s
outbound tourism is over?
China s outbound tourism is on a strong footing. Over 100 million Chinese people made a trip abroad
last year. Data by the World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) Chinese tourists increased their
spending by 27% to reach $165 million in 2014.
Much of the shopping spree and travel has been driven by the strength of the Chinese currency and the
increase in Chinese wealth. In Europe, the yuan had strengthened 15% against the euro since the start
of 2014. Now, some of this strength is gone. But is it enough to trouble outbound tourism?
Trouble for some
China s downward move to devalue was the biggest since the mass devaluation in 1994 and together
with the economic slowdown caused concern across many industries. The decision to devalue the
currency by 4% could mean long term wobble in the exchange rates, which could mean trouble for
tourists.
If Chinese tourists can expect less value for their yuan, they could start thinking twice about travelling
abroad. But the current devaluation is

Ashes In The Great Gatsby
The Roaring Twenties was a period in 20th century America in which major cities throughout the
nation would experience significant cultural extravagance and for some, decadence. New York, in

the bold emergence of the flapper lifestyle in young women, and the sensual swings of Jazz. However,
as a direct result of such excess, all the refuse would be funneled into places like the Corona Ash

A View from the Bridge by Arthur Miller
A View from the Bridge by Arthur Miller A View from the Bridge is a 1950 s play written by Arthur
Miller. It follows the same structure as an Ancient Greek tragedy, where the main actor and in this
case Eddie Carbone falls to a tragic and yet a predictable inflicted death. I will be explaining the
difference in culture between America and Italy and how this could have affected the outcome of the
play. The play A View from the Bridge was written by Arthur Miller and is set in Brooklyn America.
The scenes are mainly set near the docks and in the apartment, where Mr. Carbone and the immigrants
live. Eddie Carbone is the traditional Italian American man. He cares about his family and ... Show

He blames Rodolpho (and Marco) for coming over and ruining the power he had over Catherine and
Beatrice, he wants to break them up. This reaction of his shows how unstable and irrational he is.
Rodolpho is the catalyst that makes Eddie realise that he loves Catherine. Eddie is jealous of
Rodolpho because Rodolpho can have Catherine. Catherine loves Rodolpho in a way that she can
never love Eddie. Eddie is unsure of Rodolpho and why he wants to be in the country. Marco came to
raise money for his family and plans to go back to Italy and be with them. Marco is securely married
with his children to feed. Rodolpho wants to live in the country for ever and buy a motorcycle.
Rodolpho has blonde hair which is not very typical of an Italian. He is young and carefree, makes
dresses, sings songs like Satin Doll, this makes Eddie think that Rodolpho is a homosexual. In the
play, Eddie tries to prove that Rodolpho is gay to Catherine by kissing him, it does not work. He tells
her that Rodolpho only wants her for American citizenship. This is caused by Eddie s limited ideas of
what being a man is about. Italian American masculine belief of what being a man is about; this is
because Eddie is intellectually limited. Protecting your territory and regarding other men as hostile
and intruders when they try

Procedural Rhetoric
Procedural Rhetoric and Video Games
Kyle
University Affiliation
5th June 2018
When one is playing a video game, they are never focused on the composition of the game but on the
content. Procedural rhetoric concept explains how people learn through the composition of rules and
processes. It argues that games can be used to make a strong claim on how the world works. This is
not done through the conventional means of words or visuals but through some processes and models.
It further argues that video games have a unique persuasive power that goes beyond other forms of
computational persuasion. Not only can video games support existing social and cultural positions, but
they can also disrupt and change those positions, leading to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Additionally, the growing culture of societal impatience is like an addiction, it makes people crave
more and more, and they want it now and right now. Ian Bogost article The Rhetoric of video games
describes a situation where players unknowingly face the dilemma of wanting more and more. The
argument is that for instance, if someone wants a bigger house, meaning an increase in mortgage, it
has to be complemented by buying more other goods to fill the extra space hence a vicious cycle
(Bogost, 2008). The same analogy is used by business models of freemium games to complement
procedural rhetoric to foster an impatient society. Freemium models business offers certain aspects of
the games free, while other parts have to be paid for. When a player engages in a freemium game, it
will reach a point that the player cannot move to the next process before purchasing the whole game.
Additionally, the players would use every other means necessary to achieve their goals. Some of these
means are not right and thus would bring along rhetorical

Family And Family Analysis
The institution of a family can be viewed as the backbone of society by having a major role in the
functioning of society. It is considered to have many essential functions like reproduction, socializing
children, providing care and support, regulating sexual relationships, etc. Creating an infant is the
beginning of how a family is significant in the functioning of society. The family then provides safety
and economic stability for the child. The social norms, behaviors, and culture are then taught and
learned by the child through exposure from peers and the environment. As the child continues to grow,
the family is constantly giving the child love and support while the child learns his or her self identity.
The cycle of socialization, passing along culture, and providing guidance of self purpose then
continues from generation to generation. Families were essentially the main economic unit of society,
however, that was before industrialization. Depending on the society and culture, the roles within the
family can vary based on gender, class, and race. After industrialization, it was believed that men were
the ones that should earn the money away from the household while the women took care of their
children and house. Margaret L. Andersen and Taylor F. Howard explains, Many men are now more
engaged in housework and child care than was trust in the past, although women still provide the vast
majority of this labor (Andersen Howard, 2014, p.279). However, women that were

Not Your Typical Fruit
Not Your Typical Fruit In the novel, Banana: The Fate of the Fruit That Changed the World by Dan
Koeppel, the underlying complexity of a banana is shown. There are many factors that contributed to
the various forms of bananas that exist today. The novel lays out the history and production of
bananas, as well as some interesting aspects about the banana that make it different from other fruits.
The history of the banana has greatly evolved. Due to diseases, the bananas that used to exist no
longer exist. That s what happened to the Gros Michel. Just 50 years after the disease hit, the Gros
Michel was extinct and the Cavendish took its place (Koeppel 16). The extinction of the Gros Michel
was not only a threat to companies, such as

Reaching For The Stars Unless You re Black
Reach for the Stars; unless you re black
With the United States Army being one of the oldest organization in American, they have undoubtable
faced its share of diversity issue, they are an organization, with the need to operate under the strictest
hierarchical structure. This structure is imperative to their mission to serve and protect the free people
of this country and to uphold the Constitution that affords it. Alas, the structure begs for internal
oppression of minorities, due to the need and desire by its members to advance in rank. The General
Officer Corps. is the highest of military ranks next to the President. And with rank brings freedoms,
privileges, and above all power. The power to make a wide spectrum of orders; from how members tie
their boots or whether to wage nuclear war.
The members of the Army are a direct reflection of the citizens they protect. Made up of all different
races and backgrounds. When a person volunteers to join they are really volunteering to join an
entirely different way of life within America. Although they are afforded the same fundamental
protections of the Constitution which they protect, they are also volunteering to relinquish some of
those rights. Members are governed my different laws, courts and at times different police; they are
subject to inspections, punishments, and a way of life that is not like that of their counterpart civilians.
Unfortunately, one thing they share with America is it s social racial issues that has

Literary Elements In Marigolds By Eugenia Collier
Marigolds Essay Do you remember of your childhood and can describe detail by detail everything?
The author Eugenia Collier uses flashback, imagery, and diction to help create the voice of Lizbeth.
This story was written as a flashback because Lizbeth the main character was remembering all and
telling it. She explained some of the things in detail and used a lot of wording too. In all the story
Lizbeth used literary elements.
In the beginning of the story Lizbeth says, When I think of the home of my youth, all I seem to
remember is dust... (Collier 1). This quote is a evidence of how Lizbeth is using flashback to start the
story. She is going back to her youth life and starts to remember everything. After that she is having
some memories that make her feel something. Whenever the memory of those marigolds flashes
across my mind, a strange nostalgia comes with it and remains long after the pictures has fared
(Collier 2). In this quote she is having memories of the marigolds and I think she feels nostalgia
because of the incident that happened back then. Although in some of the parts of her story you ...

In most of the story the characters are describing things in detail that we can imagine. For example, I
remember fishing for minnows in a muddy creek and watching sadly as they eluded my cupped hands,
while Joey laugh uproariously (Collier 8). In this quote Lizbeth is using words to describe all the
memory that she is remembering. Almost at the end of the story when Lizbeth was destroying Mrs.
Lottie s marigolds a quote that is describing imagery is I leaped furiously into the mounds of
marigolds and pulled madly, trampling and pulling and destroying the perfect yellow blooms (Collier
58). I choose the quote because when I read it I can picture that in my mind and that is what imagery
is. The author used many more words to create imagery in the short story

Self Assessment Tests I Didn t Know About Myself Essay
Based on the results of the several self assessment tests I completed, I confirmed things that I knew
about myself, and I was surprised to have learned other things I didn t know about myself. This course
has taught me a lot about many different aspects of life, especially about my life, ranging from my
personality to my skills and abilities. The Myers Briggs type indicator defined my personality as
ESTJ. ESTJ stands for extraverted, sensing, thinking, and judging. ESTJ describes a person who is
practical, decisive, logical and quick to dig in. I have also taken the Gallup Strengths finder test, which
identified my top five strengths as Learner, Achiever, Restorative, Competitiveness and Focus. My
weaknesses, on the other hand, were more surprising. Some of the things I thought I had mastered and
others that I was not sure about turned out to be weak skills. These weak skills included, time
management, handling facts and inferences, intuitive ability and tolerance for ambiguity. My
weaknesses, as well as my strengths, will contribute to my success or failure; although, don t believe
in failures, this is the reason why I love Nelson Mandela s quote I never lose, I either win or learn.
Besides the strengths found by both the personality test and the strengths finder test, after completing
the personal career readiness self assessment test, I scored an eight out of ten. A score of eight out of
ten translates into good skills that should be nurtured now and

Executive Orders Of Government
The requirements necessary by law in order to become president of the United States are as follows;
you must be a natural born citizen of the United States, you must be 35 years old, and have been a
resident for the last 14 years in the United States. An executive order is a formal announcement or
order that comes directly from the president. It is written, signed, and published by the President, and
it is considered a lawful instrument however, because it is not actual legislation it does not require an
approval from Congress. These directives are used to manage federal government operations, adapt
bureaucratic rules, give force to statutes, and to create executive branch agencies. Executive orders are

Crisis Episodes
This study done by Oliver Robinson and Gordon Wright (2013) focuses on the crises experienced in
early and middle adulthood and its correlation with prevalence, type of crisis experienced, and how an
individual perceives them retrospectively. To explain this, in the article the authors explain the
definitions of autobiographical memory and crisis episodes. Autobiographical memory meaning the
memories a person has about their past that makes up their personal and individual story (Robinson
Wright, 2013). While a crisis episode, for the sake of Robinson and Wright s (2013) study, is described
as a past period of life that is characterized by difficulty, stress and negative emotion, and which is in
retrospective viewed as a turning point...in the life story. Robinson and Wright (2013) then use these
terms in their article to explain that their study, overall, would focus on participant s using a ... Show

The University Of Toledo Levis Leadership Program
The University of Toledo Levis Leadership program prides itself with creating leaders. The program
focuses on giving students with leadership potential the knowledge, skills, and tools to become leaders
not only on campus but in their future careers. For me, the proof of this method of producing
leadership is shown by the upperclassmen in the program. As a freshman, the upperclassmen are my
role models, and I rely on them to set an example of what I can do with my developing leadership.
When I met with my LUT mentor, Emma Diesing, earlier in the semester, she set an incredibly high
standard for leadership. She is so inspiring because she is only a sophomore and has already achieved
so much at the University of Toledo. So when it came to choosing a student leader on campus to
interview, I knew she was absolutely the right person to ask. Each person has their own leadership
style. For Emma, she places communication and hands on opportunities at the top of her list. It was
clear during her interview that she enjoys being involved with other people by leading activities
through instruction. She described being very easy going when leading, only becoming very deliberate
with her leadership if others are not respecting her or the task at hand. For me, on the other hand, I
think I have a bit of a different leadership style. I think I lead more by example than through
instruction. I would rather volunteer and contribute work to my group than communicate. I tend to be
very serious

John Conroy s Five Demands
John Conroy brings highlighted attention to the inhumane nature of the acceptable level of violence
with the on the blanket campaign. This was a peak of a five year protest by Irish republican prisoners
in Northern Ireland. The protest began as the blanket protest in 1976, when the British government
withdrew Special Category Status for convicted paramilitary prisoners, and ultimately resulted in a
hunger strike. On 27 October 1980, mainly IRA members began this hunger strike to restore political
status for paramilitary prisoners by securing what were known as the Five Demands . The government
appeared to grant the prisoners their five demands, however in 1981 it became clear that the prisoners
demands had not been conceded. A further

Profiling is a Necessary Means for Discovering and...
Many studies have been made in the field of criminology, concluding that profiling is a necessary
means for discovering and apprehending criminals. There are many different types of profiling and
many people think of profiling differently; however, all types of profiling does work and is proven to
help stop crime. This paper will explore the following: profiling and different forms of it, the closely
related stop and frisk policy, different cities that have proven statistics that profiling does work, how
airports are now profiling, and different serial killers that have been apprehended due to work from
profilers.
9/11 led to a re evaluation of racial profiling as a means of combating crime, and terrorism. Indeed,

They take what they know about an unknown suspect and his actions and try to generate additional
information (Grabianowski).
What exactly is profiling is what many people wonder and they don t always get the right definition.
What they usually think first is that it is racial profiling and it is bad, we should not do it, but that s
only one type of profiling and it is not necessarily bad in all cases. The Merriam Webster dictionary
defines it as, the act of or process of learning information about someone based on what you already
know. Under the narrow definition, racial profiling occurs when a police officer stops, questions,
arrests, and/or searches someone solely on the basis of the person s race or ethnicity. Critics typically
use this definition when condemning racial profiling, as do law enforcement agencies when denying
the existence of racial profiling (Cleary). Most people think that the profiling is a bad thing because of
controversial topics like NYC s stop and frisk policy and from what the liberal news puts out. But in
most cases profiling is good for communities and helps to catch criminals before they can do harm.
The main difference between what people think and what profiling is comes down to two words
disparity and discrimination.
Disparity and discrimination are closely related but there is one major difference between them that
sets them far apart. Disparity is

  • 2. Persuasive Essay On Sex Offenders Many of us were raised knowing the story of Daniel Morcombe, the thirteen year old boy snatched from a bus station found murdered with the intention of rape, 8 years laters. Before the murder of Daniel, Brent Peter Cowan was a known child sex offender who had two previous offences with minimal penalty. In an interview with police Cowan stated I never got to molest him or anything like that. He panicked and I panicked and grabbed him around the throat and before I knew it he was dead. Daniel is one of many innocent and trusting children who have fallen victim to these vicious repeat offenders. Outside of the family, the first people thought to be responsible when a child is murdered, raped or abducted tend to be sex offenders in the area, so why must a child endure such a heinous act before this information is revealed to the public? I firmly believe that communities should be notified if and when a known predator on the paedophile and sex offenders registry has entered their neighbourhood. (Quite engaging, with a strong contention.) A Hanson and Morton Bourgon study found that over a 15 year time period, the rate for recidivism was a terrifying 35% for child molesters of boy victims and 24% for rapists. It is vital to consider that there is an abundance of victims whose trauma prohibits them from coming forward therefore a thoroughly accurate representation of repeat offences is severely limited. Brent Peter Cowan is a prime example of a sex offender, whose minimal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Dr. Hobart explained that she always wanted to work in health, and working with people in the community leading her to become a public psychiatrist in the city of Worcester, Massachusetts. Dr. Hobart is a medically focused community organizer and her work is most easily tied to the Women Centered model of community development (Stall, Stoecker; 202). While both methods have been shown to produce positive outcomes ²individually, the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends a combination of both methods when treating symptoms. Pelham, Burrows MacLean, Gnagy, Fabiano, Coles, Tresco, Chacko, Wymbs, Wienke, Walker, Hoffman (2005) examined the effect of transdermal methylphenidate treatment combined with behavioral modification methods on ADHD symptomatic children. I chose to visit a church because I wanted to see if there was a religious aspect thrown into the session. The name of the session was called Big Book Stop Study. This session occurs every Monday at 7:00pm, as an open meeting. The meeting lasted for an hour. The session was led by three members, Kyle, Tamara, and Melissa. There was fourteen participants within the group. I was very apprehensive about attending a meeting because I didn t want to be seen as an alcoholic. For that very reason, I understand how hard it may be for some to admit to their alcoholism, due to the negative connotation that comes with the name. To some, that may seem like a short span of time. However, upon visiting this particular session I saw progression in each participant. I was very pleased with what I witnessed as a visitor. The session began with a moment of silence and a serenity prayer. Kyle read the protocol, preamble, traditions, and outline for the night. He even identified 10 step promises that they understand as promises that come with overcoming alcoholism. He explained everything that would occur, and why it was chosen to occur. Kyle identified the different steps that are taken within the group to recovery from alcohol. After learning about the agenda for the day, Kyle introduced himself while everyone went around the table and introduced themselves. I noticed that while ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

But one thing for sure is that JFK died at the hands of somebody. On November 22, 1963, John F. Kennedy was on his way to speak at a luncheon. As the car turned off Main Street at Dealey Plaza ,people heard gunfire coming from the Texas School Book Depository. There is no evidence proving that Lee Harvey Oswald had any connection with Cuba when he committed the assassination of JFK. The only evidence to prove this theory is that he tried to get a visa to go to Cuba, but he was allegedly rejected because the government thought he was an undercover provocateur. (Lewis). • 20. China s Devaluation Of Its Currency China s devaluation of its currency has been causing headlines, but what are the effects on its tourism? Are the Chinese likely to swap outbound tourism with inbound travel? China s decision to devalue its currency in quick succession during the second week of August caused headlines around the globe. The decision sent shockwaves, with the effects still unravelling today. Tourism is among the industries feeling the heat. Will the weaker yuan mean the boom in China s outbound tourism is over? China s outbound tourism is on a strong footing. Over 100 million Chinese people made a trip abroad last year. Data by the World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) Chinese tourists increased their spending by 27% to reach $165 million in 2014. Much of the shopping spree and travel has been driven by the strength of the Chinese currency and the increase in Chinese wealth. In Europe, the yuan had strengthened 15% against the euro since the start of 2014. Now, some of this strength is gone. But is it enough to trouble outbound tourism? Trouble for some China s downward move to devalue was the biggest since the mass devaluation in 1994 and together with the economic slowdown caused concern across many industries. The decision to devalue the currency by 4% could mean long term wobble in the exchange rates, which could mean trouble for tourists. If Chinese tourists can expect less value for their yuan, they could start thinking twice about travelling abroad. But the current devaluation is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Ashes In The Great Gatsby The Roaring Twenties was a period in 20th century America in which major cities throughout the nation would experience significant cultural extravagance and for some, decadence. New York, in particular, would exemplify this term with its streets filled with people of startling diversity and class, the bold emergence of the flapper lifestyle in young women, and the sensual swings of Jazz. However, as a direct result of such excess, all the refuse would be funneled into places like the Corona Ash Dump situated in the Queens. • 26. Family And Family Analysis The institution of a family can be viewed as the backbone of society by having a major role in the functioning of society. It is considered to have many essential functions like reproduction, socializing children, providing care and support, regulating sexual relationships, etc. Creating an infant is the beginning of how a family is significant in the functioning of society. The family then provides safety and economic stability for the child. The social norms, behaviors, and culture are then taught and learned by the child through exposure from peers and the environment. As the child continues to grow, the family is constantly giving the child love and support while the child learns his or her self identity. The cycle of socialization, passing along culture, and providing guidance of self purpose then continues from generation to generation. Families were essentially the main economic unit of society, however, that was before industrialization. Depending on the society and culture, the roles within the family can vary based on gender, class, and race. After industrialization, it was believed that men were the ones that should earn the money away from the household while the women took care of their children and house. Margaret L. Andersen and Taylor F. Howard explains, Many men are now more engaged in housework and child care than was trust in the past, although women still provide the vast majority of this labor (Andersen Howard, 2014, p.279). This story was written as a flashback because Lizbeth the main character was remembering all and telling it. She explained some of the things in detail and used a lot of wording too. In all the story Lizbeth used literary elements. In the beginning of the story Lizbeth says, When I think of the home of my youth, all I seem to remember is dust... (Collier 1). This quote is a evidence of how Lizbeth is using flashback to start the story. She is going back to her youth life and starts to remember everything. After that she is having some memories that make her feel something. Whenever the memory of those marigolds flashes across my mind, a strange nostalgia comes with it and remains long after the pictures has fared (Collier 2). The Myers Briggs type indicator defined my personality as ESTJ. ESTJ stands for extraverted, sensing, thinking, and judging. ESTJ describes a person who is practical, decisive, logical and quick to dig in. I have also taken the Gallup Strengths finder test, which identified my top five strengths as Learner, Achiever, Restorative, Competitiveness and Focus. What they usually think first is that it is racial profiling and it is bad, we should not do it, but that s only one type of profiling and it is not necessarily bad in all cases. The Merriam Webster dictionary defines it as, the act of or process of learning information about someone based on what you already know. Under the narrow definition, racial profiling occurs when a police officer stops, questions, arrests, and/or searches someone solely on the basis of the person s race or ethnicity. Critics typically use this definition when condemning racial profiling, as do law enforcement agencies when denying the existence of racial profiling (Cleary).
