For Years, Fifa Has Been The Center Of Allegations Involving
For years, FIFA has been the center of allegations involving scandal, corruption, and general
unhealthy management. The negativity surrounding the leadership of FIFA has caused the
organization and the sport to spiral into questions of fairness, responsibility, and accountability.
Football players and fans alike have lost a great deal of trust and respect for the organization that
has promised to maintain the sanctity of their sport. As a task force, we have been assigned to
revitalize the FIFAorganization and bring all of its actions to light. Our vision is a fair, clean sport
that is enhanced by a just governing body. We wantto bring justice to the sport and its fans who
relentlessly support it. We will condone honest actions taken by... Show more content on

FIFA must lead by example, they need to become more active in demonstrating the core value of
leadership. How can we expect the football world to make the right decisions and to be honest in
their ways of business if the main organization of football isn t doing so themselves? Lastly, we
believe FIFA needs to master the core value of maturity. If we are expecting maturity when it
comes to how players handle a bad call on the field, then we should also expect it of the largest
organization of the sport itself, FIFA. If something were to go wrong in the future, whether it is
with a player, board member, vice president, etc., FIFA should be mature about the situation and
handle it properly and correct it. They should not let it slide or look the other away. In light of
recent events that put the reputation of FIFA into question, our goal is to bring reforms that will
restore FIFA as an organization built on honesty and friendly competition.
In order to combat the alleged corruption throughout FIFA, our first objective is to create a
decentralized system of authority. To do this, we first want to create a complete separation between
the management that deals with the commercial aspect of FIFA and those who make executive
decisions within FIFA. By doing this we believe that the temptation and occurrence of corruption
will be decreased because those who work to create commercial deals and handle the bidding

Love Medicine Essay
Love Medicine Since the beginning of colonization of America, there has been the problem of
dealing with the indigenous people of the land. After the first attempts in eradicating the population,
the American government changed its policy to integration. It is this integration into white society
and the severance from the
Indian culture that causes disenfranchisement in the modern Indian reservation.
In Louise Erdrich s Love Medicine, the contradictory efforts to isolate the Native
Americans on reservations and to make regular Americans of them are seen over roughly a fifty
year period. The Morrisseys, Kashpaws, Lamartines,
Lazarres and others must define their relations to alien religions, customs, economic realities, and ...

Lipsha also grows up without knowing of his ancestry and therefore feels incomplete. Added to the
stress of this, Lipsha also feels detached from the white society by having the ability to use the old
Indian medicines. Yet through the latter part of the book, Lipsha finds redemption from his
disenfranchisement by finding the identity of his parents and accepting his talent. It is after he
discovers this information that Lipsha crosses the river water and steps into his new existence.
The character of Henry Junior not only illustrates the loneliness of not knowing one s father, but
also of not belonging to the majority race of one s country. Henry Junior is one of the seemingly
infinite amount of sons which resulted from Lulu Lamartine s friendliness . Due to this renowned
trait of Lulu,
Henry Junior was never quite sure who his father was. Yet Henry felt no connection with his
fatherland either. In fact, fighting for the white man s war in
Vietnam was inevitably the cause for Henry Junior s death. The atrocities committed during the war
were never forgotten by Henry Junior s conscience and it isn t until his suicide in the river that his
guilt and alienation is lifted.
The intervention of so called western culture to the Indian population of
North America has created a society of indigenous people that

An Introduction To The Book Of Mormon
This year in Sunday school we will be studying the Book of Mormon. As a Bishopric we invite
all ward members to reread the Book of Mormon. Then we invite all men everywhere to read the
Book of Mormon, to ponder in their hearts the message it contains, and then to ask God, the
Eternal Father, in the name of Christ if the book is true. Those who pursue this course and ask in
faith will gain a testimony of its truth and divinity by the power of the Holy Ghost (Introduction
to the Book of Mormon, italics added) Here are some promises from reading the Book of
Mormon from prophets, seers and revelators: When was the last time that you read the Book of
Mormon from cover to cover? Read it again. It will increase your faith. (Neil L. Anderson, Oct

China Social Inequality
The complexity of China s overall marital and family status, gender equality and standard living
shows that there is visible inequality that exists between China s Rural and Urban areas. In 1966
and 1967, Chairman of the Communist Party of China, Mao Tse Tung, had characterized a social
movement known as the Red Guards. The Red Guards were Chinas future as a minority organization
during the Cultural Revolution. This Revolution reestablished Mao s campaign from the Great
Leap Forward in 1958 1961. The Great Leap Forward was Mao s way of restoring a Democratic

During the Cultural Revolution, extramarital affairs were condemned labeled as Male Female
Relationship Lifestyle. Infidelity is rife in China, due to a male dominated culture that has
traditionally (albeit quietly) tolerated concubines and prostitution. Pressure to marry young leads to
fast arrangements (Hayes). In China, Men and Women possess different capacities and functions
towards behavior expectations, position within the family, legal rights, public status, education,
and types of work. By the late nineteenth, early twentieth centuries, serious challenges about the
gender inequalities that were in both Japan and China were to be accepted. Can t a girl serve
equally well as a reminder of her parents? What a crazy, stupid custom, which demands that every
couple have a baby boy to carry on the family line (Jin). During the Cultural Revolution, female
specific concerns continued when the class war took place and equality was assumed to be

how the nurses had to be virgins to enter the hospital workforce or how men and women weren t

Disadvantages Of Natural Dyes
Since the pre historic era, natural dyes are common for their use in coloring of food substrate,
leather, wool, silk and cotton. The use of this eco friendly, non toxic and non allergic natural dyes
have become important in order to avoid some hazardous synthetic dyes. However, given that the
synthetic dyes are easier to use, cheap and widely produced and available, the usage of natural dyes
continues on decreasing since the 19th century (Samanta, 2009).
Natural dyes produce very uncommon, soothing and soft shades as compared to synthetic dyes. It
is known that natural dyes produce unusual colors that appear to be harmonizing. On the other
hand, synthetic dyes are widely available at a reasonable price and produce a variety of colors;
these dyes however produce toxic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Dyeing Process
One of the key factors in the trading of successful textile products is the dyeing process. This helps
to beautify and enhance the fabric. Usually the consumers look to some basic characteristics of
product such as good fixation. This is to ensure to maintain the properties, the substances that give
color to fabric must contain high affinity, resistance to fading and be economically feasible. First,
drain the vinegar mixture then pour the turmeric dye over the fabric into the pot; heat over medium
low flame. As the fabric left longer in the turmeric dye, the more vibrant the color. Then afterwards,
wash the fabric.

the dye can stain porcelain so rinse the cloth on a stainless steel sink or even at an outdoor tap.

Forced Labor Camps In Germany
In this research paper, I will explain the different aspects of slavery in the forced labor camps of
Germany in the late 30 s and early 40 s. Many different categories of labor camps were created
during the second World War in order to classify the inmates. These prisoners were not treated
the usual way an inmate might be treated. They would be forced to work in bad conditions with
limited access to sustenance. They were forced to work at an unrealistic pace and would be
killed if they were unable to keep up that rate. Many deaths were caused by these forced labor
camps which were directed and guided by the Nazis and, as the war continued, slave labor camp
procedures continued to increase which, as a result, brought many more deaths. During

The Most Common Argument Against School Uniforms
Uniforms would not be a good idea because of the different problems it would start and how it
could cost the school more money than it gained. My claim is that uniforms are a bad idea
because they will not make students happy and they won t be happy that they don t get freedom to
dress how they would like to.
The most common argument against school uniforms is that they limit personal expression. (http:/

How Technology Has Changed Our New Set Of Skills And...
Security is one of the major challenges that is being faced by the world today, as seen by continuous
revelations about breaches and incidents. On this note of insecurity and unpredictability, banking
industry is keen to redefine its approach to security thereby making an attempt to balance three
critical factors i.e. cost, innovation and risk. On parallel grounds, the domain of internal security is
undergoing drastic changes that mandates banking institutions to embrace new set of skills and
practices. Fraudcan be categorized as a business risk it is like a sword of Damocles over a banks

At the same time, developers can make this process arduous with enhanced security layers
thereby increasing the response time to such incidents by the organizations as well as it
improvises the ability to intercept such intrusions before their impact proves to be substantive.
Security should be one of the most elementary fiber of any organization, both in behavior
providing people secure alternatives as well as in technology incorporating security as part of the
design process. Deploying the factor of awareness or fear as a defense tool is an obsolete practice.
Our approach should be to make security as the strength of organizational link.
As the fraud universe in banking institutions is very susceptible and expansive, the banking
activities require full compliance of the standards and best practices in risk management and internal
controls. Full compliance to Bank s requirements in terms of fraud risk management is vital in
ensuring fraud risk in the banking institutions is minimized. It calls for strategized efforts from all
levels of staff, which include those of front liners and senior management levels. Fraud occurs due
to loopholes in the controls of banking activities, hence, concerted efforts to address the weaknesses
in the internal control systems should be enhanced to include advancement of information
technology applications, for instance by

Plasmid Pglo Lab Report
Lab Report
This lab is about moving genes from one thing to another using plasmids. Plasmid has the ability
to replicate, so it replicates independently, and separately from the chromosomal DNA. Plasmid
are one or more small piece of DNA and they enter cells as a double strand DNA. When they enter
the cell as a doubke strand they do not invade he chromosomal DNA. We will also transform
bacteria into GFP which is mainly from the jelly fish Aequorea Victoria. The GFP causes the the
jelly fish to fluorescent and glow in the dark. After the transformation, bacteria starts to make the
GFP which causes them to glow a green color under a ultraviolet light.

Designing A New Automated Customer Service System
In the modern business scape, the reality for many companies is to design practices in accordance
with customer expectations, specifically with regards to the ever increasing need for digital
options. This is the case for many industries, with many pondering on how to go about addressing
the issue. Bogers Media is one such company to have taken the liberty of not only addressing but
also designing, with the intent to implement, a new automated customer service systembased on
machine learning.
Of course, this is not the first of its kind but, if used correctly, it may be among the first in Bogers
particular industry. Automated customer servicesystems have been integrated into various
companies strategies yielding optimal results. Starbucks saw a measurable profit increase after
implementing their Mobile Order and Pay program. It goes without saying the essentiality of
observing what others have done in this field, inciting an understanding of the risks and challenges
associated with such an endeavor. For this purpose, let us observe the National Library of Medicine
(NLM) and their virtual representative, Cosmo.
Due to the size of their catalogue, the NLM had integrated Cosmo as an addition to their already
present call centre to streamline the process with those who had simpler and/or fewer questions to
ask. According to representatives of the NLM, the advantages of this system include a simpler

First, it is the perspectival depiction technic which Mantegna uses to portray Christ body. The
painting appears with Christ body in the center lying on a marble slab with Virgin Mary and
St.John by his side. From the viewer s angle, one can see the anatomical details in Christ body
especially his thorax. It is because Mantegna uses foreshortens and dramatizes the recumbent [of
Christ] figure (). However, Christ s feet are smaller in the size so that they cannot interfere the
view of Christ body. If Mantegna draws Christ s feet in proper size, it may cover much of the body.
This painting is one of the most masterpiece as example for perspective technic. Even thought
Mantegna uses foreshorten to make Christ s body appearing shorten, the physical structure of his
body is still represented accuracy. By using the perspectival depiction technic, Mantegna also
expresses his understanding of human anatomy through Christ s figure. For the first look, we can

KFC Extra Crispy Sunscreen

Kentucky Fried Chicken has recently gone through a branding remodel. Through this remodel, KFC
learned that 76.5 percent of their customers were unaware that KFC offered an Extra Crispy Fried
Chicken Recipe. Customers only associated KFC with their Original Recipe meaning that if they
were looking for a crispier fried chicken option then they may go to another restaurant. KFC saw
this lack of knowledge as an opportunity to educate their customers and other people that KFC
does in fact offer an extra crispy recipe. KFC found that millennials were not typically engaged
with their brand, so they also wanted to develop a campaign that reached the millennial audience.
With Labor Day weekend approaching, KFC saw it has their opportunity to leverage the last

The Evolution of Film Essay example
In the early times of narrative cinema there was litter pressure on the filmmakers for the
evolution of film forms before nickelodeons (Salt, 31) as cinema had not become a mass cultural
product and film was still just a novelty expected to die out like rock n roll. And so the demand
was low and so the supply could remain unoriginal. Mary Jane s Mishap was made in 1903 when
multi scene films were becoming popular (Salt, 32). Mary Jane s Mishap is notable for its use of
experimental and inventive shot transitions. It used a vertical wipe to instead of separate

Leonardo s Notebooks
People from around the globe easily recognize the phenomenal work of Leonardo da Vinci.
Perhaps the most famous of all his work is the Mona Lisa, with an impressive six million annual
visitors. Incidentally, there is an abundance of works by Leonardo da Vinci that the majority of
people have yet to even hear about. Admittedly, these works were not created with the intent of
being seen outside the artist s studio, but rather to aid in his critical thinking process. These works
are mostly comprised of drawings. Studies for a Nativity is one such exquisitive yet commonly
unrecognizable drawing which greatly helped Leonardo da Vinciin his critical thinking process.
Studies for a Nativity is one of many drawings that can be found within Leonardo s hundreds of

such a large quantity of notebooks was almost unheard of a century prior. This is because paper

Early Childhood Course At Savannah Technical College Essay
Introduction
Throughout the ECCE 1101 Introduction to Early Childhood course at Savannah Technical College
there were several theorists introduced in the course that had a major impact on molding the
foundation for an understanding of early childhood as a whole. Although the scope covered a broad
spectrum of early childhood, majority of the main focus was on early education. The work of Lev
Vygotskygreatly influenced the field of early education. This paper will include a brief summary
of Vygotsky s life, a description of his major ideas, and how those ideas impact early education
today.

chief of the United Bank of Gomel and the family moved to Gomel, where Vygotsky spent his
childhood. Vygotsky s mother had trained to be a teacher, but saw her priority in being at home to
provide a stimulating and enriching environment for her eight children. Vygotsky completed his
primary education at home with his mother and a private tutor, and then entered public school for

sentences that make listeners stop in their tracks. In some songs, like Migraine or Car Radio,
every line does that. Car Radio expands on the idea that Sometimes quiet is violent. It explores
the dark places human minds may go if given the opportunity. Migraine speaks on the complexity
of life, especially elaborating on the loneliness that accompanies not feeling understood and how
that loneliness causes depression while encouraging listeners to hope. Knowing there are others
out there listening to this song, thinking the same thoughts, even if they are strangers, alleviates
that lonely feeling. Migraine also urges listeners to keep fighting, to never give up on their life
goals or on life itself. The only miss on this criteria from the album comes from, ironically, their
most popular song, House of Gold. The song is a simple ballad to the writer s mother promising to
take care of her: sweet, but not exactly thought provoking. Despite this, Vessel definitely exceeds the

Personal Perspective On The Disney Animated Film Aladdin
Personal Perspective
At first glance, the website home page for the Disney animated film Aladdin displays the
emotion of excitement. I find Disney visuals very interesting to analyze because of the dynamic
visuals used in terms of color, shape, and animation. The site has so many central aspects of
visual valor that draw in the user. This webpage has several different eye catching points within
it. My eye is first drawn to Aladdin and Jasmine gazing into the distance with excited eyes, flying
on their magic carpet. My eye then goes to notice the sky in the background with the fiery colors
of red and yellow, creating the feeling of excitement, as well as creating a sun setting scene.
Then my eye is drawn to the big blue off to the side of the site with an enthusiastic facial
expression. I also notice that the site is very well put together. It is organized in a way that is
clear and easy to navigate, making it possible even for children to figure their way around the site.

Essay on British Rule in Florida
The British were not good rulers because they had only ruled for 20 years, while Spain had
dominated Florida for over 288 years. The British were weak, the only reason they got Florida
was because they were teamed with the French. This of course was before the Treaty of Paris. In
1672 the British had captured Havana but the use of it was nothing. Many of the British
territories had recruiting programs that were not hard to like. Also when the British were working
for good times luck was not there for them. Crops died within the first few months of their new
colony. Also more diseases had really hurt the British. Diseases as in mosquito bites that cause
malaria. For some colonists British times were very hard. This was a big reason why... Show more

One raid on the American South was so serious Colonel John Baker had to surrender to the British.
Soon after the attack the American Revolutionary Warwas almost about to happen. Some loyalists
remained well..loyal to the British during that time period. The 2 sides as in the east and west
side were very royal colonies. Even though the Spain had ruled for a longer period time. The
British had one advantage they were able to recruit permanent settlers. Most of Florida s officials
were looking to save money to keep public services going. The Proclamation of 1763 outlawed
settlement west of the appalachians to the newly acquired Florida. The Britishers partners were
the French. The French had strong desires to develop trade within their new colony and also
outsiders around it. Each pioneer settler was given 100 acres of land and 50 acres per family
member, i mean who could complain about that. Soon after this the British went to war against the
British. After the war with France it nearly bankrupted the British government. The British were so
worried about pirate attacks that they had to call a militia to assure safety. Around 1776 about 7
years before the British rule was over, West Floridawas bigger than East Florida. West Florida had
extended to Lake Pontchartrain, Louisiana. This was also a major problem because they had
problems increasing migration of the Indians into the region. Mostly because Farmers would

Leadership in Norma Rae
Leadership in Norma Rae Norma Rae is a film based on a true story set in a Southern mill town.
The title character and fellow mill workers start a branch of the Textile Workers Union of America
through the use of leadership. The two characters of Norma Rae and Reuben Warshofsky combine
their talents to empower and lead the people of the mill from downtrodden workers to proactive
union members. When Rueben first comes upon the town, he finds the managers of the mill
oppressive to their workers. People have no rights. They make small wages. They work long hours.
Rueben starts the revolution for the mill workers by inspiring Norma Rae through Superleadership.

Reuben tells Norma Rae the way things could be at the mill and she is inspired. He explains that
the textile industry is the only industry not unionized. Reuben says to people at the first church
meeting that things will not change, not unless you make it happen. Reuben encourages the
people to join him and share in the goal to unionize the mill. Norma Rae is the only one who
accepts the challenge at first. Reuben gives Norma a voice. He teaches her how to fight for a
union. She starts by signing a union card. She then wears a union button and hands out others.
The woman before was pushed around and uneducated. Now she is typing documents, making

Compare And Contrast Roosevelt And Woodrow Wilson
Theodore Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson were both innovative, progressive presidents. Many of
their policies were similar, focusing on reform, destruction of monopolies and trusts, and improving
conditions of the common American through policy change in Washington. However, both
presidents are remembered in different lights and for vastly different reasons.
Theodore Roosevelt unquestionably had the bigger positive impact on American idealism, as he is
commemorated on Mount Rushmore and considered one of the five great American presidents.
Roosevelt was the naturalist responsible for our national parks, but his policies on military and
war were contradictory to the sensitivities he displayed toward nature. Roosevelt led the Rough
Riders in the Spanish American War, and led the country similarly. Believing in the nationalist
sentiment of creating a sense of pride in American conquest, Roosevelt campaigned for the
annexation of Hawaii, took control of Cuba, and instituted his policy of speak softly, but carry a

The Effects Of Music On The Music Essay
Throughout the years, music has inspired people. Music touches our heart, makes us cry, makes
us laugh, and heals relationships even love someone. It encourages us to move we can march,

memories that can bring a smile or drive us into a deep sadness. Patriotism is displayed when
people come together because of a piece of music. Brotherhoods united when the school fight
school is played. It creates a bond between complete strangers. Music can be a part of everyone s
life, even if they can t play an instrument or read the music, they can listen. John Phillip Sousa
was able to express himself through his music. Not only, did he love listening to the music, but
he also, allowed music to touch his life, while he composed works of art and conducted and
played in the US Marine Band. John Phillip Sousa influenced how those around him, especially
the Marine Band of the late 1800 s, viewed music. His involvement in the organization began at
the early age of 13 and continued until he was in his late 30 s. He wrote many well known
compositions that even now, hundreds of years later, impact those that listen. The United States
Marine Band was formed in 1798 when President Adams signed an Act of Congress to make it
official. When it was first started, some of the band members were sent to different post, while the
others were kept close to provide entertainment for the government leaders.

Analysis of Statistical Data
Statistics In the Smith, et al (2006) study, 26 patients were used. They all had COPD that was
stable, and they all complained of coughing. Their age, mean FEV, and smoking history were all
accounted and controlled for (Smith, et al, 2006). Methods used involved a cough challenge test,
sound recordings of their cough day and night, and a questionnaire that involved their perceived
quality of life (Smith, et al, 2006). The coughs were actually manually counted and then translated
to coughs per hour. The cough seconds per hour was quantified based on the number of seconds in
each recorded hour that contained a cough. The overall median time that was spent coughing was
calculated to be 7.5 cough seconds for every hour, although this lessened considerably at night
(Smith, et al, 2006). The subjective cough scores were taken into account and compared with the
actual cough seconds per hour. It was found that the study participants often thought that they spent
more time coughing than what the data indicated to b accurate (Smith, et al, 2006). By looking at
the statistical data used (median cough seconds per hour), it can be seen that people with COPD do
not (on average) spend that many seconds per hour coughing. However, because of the disruptive
nature of coughing repeatedly throughout that hour, these individuals often think they spend much
more time coughing than they actually do (Smith, et al, 2006). This was evidenced by the fact that
a subjective measure of coughing

as the title. Furthermore, not only was Madame Valmonde puzzled by the sight of the child, so was
nurse Zandrine as she
turned her face to gaze across the fields to avoid the responsive look toward her on Madame

concerning the child. Madame
Valmonde insists that this is not the baby and after Desiree s explanation admits that it indeed has

Desiree is so overjoyed with the happiness of her husband and how he s changed positively
because of his new son that she
for some dissonant reason feels fearful just as well. Within a few paragraphs, Chopin expressed

toward how the baby would serve in the story.

The Lifelong Goal Of Saint Thomas Aquinas
Ryan Comolli
Study Of St. Thomas Aquinas
Research Paper
11/23/2014
The lifelong goal of Saint Thomas Aquinas was to clearly elaborate the independence of philosophy
and theology, but at the same time show their symbiotic relationship with each other. Throughout
his life Aquinas was known as a theologian but many of his works carry strong philosophical
undertones as well. The beauty of theology is it can enlighten us through its leap of faith. Philosophy
was required to precede theology. The truths laid down from philosophy are concrete and coherent.
These philosophical truths are the shoes in which theology can walk. Without philosophy there is
no theology. Examples of this can be seen everywhere. Philosophical concepts like ... Show more

Their importance is paramount because these truths that we believe can in turn be used to create
something greater. As St. Thomas progresses through his works he builds on philosophical truths in
order to allow us to reach a greater higher knowledge. In his book the Summa Theologica Thomas
says, We must bear in mind that there are two kinds of sciences. There are some which proceed
from a principle known by the natural light of intelligence, such as arithmetic and geometry and
the like. Others proceed from principles known by the light of a higher form of knowledge:
Thus the science of perspective proceeds from principles established by geometry, and music
from principles established by arithmetic. So it is that sacred doctrine is a science because it
proceeds from principles established by the light of a higher form of knowledge, namely that of
God and the blessed (I, q. 1, a. 2). Aquinas is establishing the basis for all of theology to be built
upon. As he describes to us, there is always an action and reaction when it comes to human
understanding. In order for someone to believe, there needs to be a definitive and concrete basis
for which this knowledge is built. In the case of theology, we require the basics set forth by
philosophy to establish the existence of God. This is and always will be the quintessential step in
accepting the divine wisdom which god reveals to us. Belief in the Catholic Church and God

Naked Egg Lab Experiment
Naked Egg Lab
Frances Jose

7 November 2014
Introduction
The objective of the Naked Egg Lab is to soak the egg in a solution and determine if that solution is
isotonic, hypertonic, or hypotonic in relation to the egg. A solution is a mixture of two or more
substances in which the molecules of the substances are evenly distributed (Miller/Levine 2000).
The substances in a solution are solutes, the substance that is dissolved (Miller/Levine 2000), and
solvents, the substance in which the solute dissolves (Miller/Levine 2000). In this case, the egg will
be put in a salt water solution, where salt is the solute and water is the solvent. This lab is looking
for three different types of solutions; isotonic, hypertonic, and hypotonic. An isotonic solution is
when the concentration of two solutions is the same (Miller/Levine 2000). When a solution has a
higher concentration of solutes than the solution on the other side of the membrane, it is
hypertonic. Hypotonic solutions are the opposite, and have a lesser concentration of solutes than
the solution on the other side of the membrane.
Diffusion is the process by which molecules tend to move from an area where they are more

After the shell is finally gone, the egg will be placed in the salt water solution. Since only water
can move in and out of the egg, the semipermeable membrane allows for an exploration for the

(quantitative data) will increase because the water will pass from an area with high concentration
(water), to an area with low concentration (egg). It is predicted that the egg will gain mass and

DNA Technology Task 3 Poster
DNA fingerprinting, also known as DNA profiling, is a technique used in forensic science that
identifies individuals based on various characteristics of their DNA. Although the DNA sequences
between humans are 99.9% identical, DNA fingerprinting is able to distinguish between individuals
due to the presence of specific sequences within the non coding region of the genome known as
satellite DNA. This satellite DNA consists of long stretches of DNA made up of repeating base
sequences known as short tandem repeats (STR). These STRs considerably vary in length between
individuals, particularly between unrelated individuals, allowing exact individuals to be identified.
One major use of DNA fingerprinting is in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Due to the presence of negatively charged phosphate groups within the sugar phosphate backbone
of DNA, the DNA fragments diffuse through the gel towards the anode. The smaller fragments
are more able to penetrate through the gel and thus travel the furthest whereas the larger
fragments travel a shorter distance. The exact size in bases for each separated fragment in a
given sample of DNA can be determined by comparing each fragment against standard fragments
of known length. This is commonly known as a ladder within the laboratory. For the purposes of a
crime scene investigation, multiple DNA samples would be simultaneously run through the gel,
Once separated, a DNA fragmentation pattern is produced that allows the criminal to be
identified. As shown in the figure below, a DNA sample obtained from the crime scene is
compared to two possible suspects. The pattern of suspect 1 more closely matches the pattern of the
DNA obtained from the crime scene thus allowing the true criminal to be correctly identified.
Similarly, for paternal testing, the DNA samples of the mother and child are compared to the
potential fathers. The fragmentation pattern of the child should resemble both the mother and true
father as half of child s alleles are inherited from the mother and father. Male 1 resembled the child s

Abolition
A Stronger Resistance The abolitionist movement in the United States sought to eradicate slavery
using a wide range of tactics and organizations. The antislavery movement mobilized many African
Americans and some whites who sought to end the institution of slavery. Although both black and
white abolitionists often worked together, the relationship between them was intricate. The struggle
for black abolitionists was much more personal because they wanted to end slavery and also
wanted to gain equal rights for blacks. However, many white abolitionists only sought to end slavery
and did not fight for equality for blacks. From these exceedingly contrasting perspectives and the
continuation of slavery, the sentiment of many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
More militant tactics, such as uprising and revolts, were gaining support in the nineteenth century.
Nat Turner was a black abolitionist that supported the use of aggressive and forceful tactics. In
1831, in Virginia, he led an insurrection and more than 55 white people were killed. It was very
bloody and violent and angered many whites from its brutality (Nash, 275). Yet, many blacks felt
that the only thing that would get a response was an uprising and taking drastic measures. In
Christiana, Pennsylvania, the Fugitive Slave Laws were passed. These laws stated that whites
could recapture their runaway slaves. Blacks were outraged by the passing of these laws and
rioted in response to this (Roots of Resistance). This demonstrated how blacks would react in
manners that were more forceful and these tactics were used by a number of other abolitionists,
however, many still used different approaches to battling slavery. Many abolitionists used
writing to end slavery. In 1827, the first black newspaper, Freedom s Journal, was created by
Samuel Cornish and John Russwurm (Notes, 11/29/00). This paper spread ideas of freedom
and equality and gave hope to the black readers. David Walker, the son of a free black mother
and a slave father, pushed the abolitionist movement into militancy in 1829 when he published
David Walker s Appeal. His work inspired blacks to organize and urged slaves to rise up against
their masters and take their freedom by force (Notes, 11/27/00).

The Industrial Revolution And The French Revolution
The Industrial Revolution and the French Revolution are both integral parts of European history.
Taking place during the late eighteenth century, each molded different parts of Europe and had
different social ramifications. The Industrial Revolution began in the late 1700 s and was the
beginning of new innovations along with manufacturing processes. The French Revolution began
during the year 1789, with two sides of the population fighting either for or against the monarchy.
The French Revolution ended ten years later during the year 1799 with the French overthrowing the
monarchy and starting their own form of government. While both revolutions have had a huge
impact on modern day Europe, the innovations along with the social changes that occurred during
the Industrial Revolutionmake it more significant than the French Revolution. Before the
Industrial Revolution, Britain was comprised of rural areas where most of the population resided.
A lot of their time revolved around agriculture as a means of survival and as a way to make an
income. They also built and produced most of their clothing, furniture and homes with machines
that were simple and small tools. As time went by, people came up with different ideas and
changed the methods in which they were able to produce agriculture. This led to an increase in
food production which was steadily available to the population that was rising and working
factories. These events would become apart of what would start the Industrial

Ethical Issues In A Hospital
For this assignment, I spent time volunteering at Mercy Downtown, helping at the main
information desk. While I was there, I assisted visitors in finding patients by looking up their
room number, directed patients and visitors to the correct area of the hospital, and delivered
flowers to rooms that had been dropped off. A paid employee also accompanied me while there,
as volunteers are not allowed to actually look up patient information via the online portal, but I
could call a different help desks within the hospital to ask other paid employees to look patients up
for me if needed. The experience made me realize that there are so many little unthought of
components to making a hospital as big as Mercy be efficient for everyone. The information... Show

I have learned that no matter how many times people tell me not to judge a person by their
appearance, I have grown up in a world where we still do it daily regardless of how hard we try
not to. I go back and forth thinking about whether it s right or wrong to so openly give out
patient room numbers but in the end, I think it s really only fair to do so. I think there could be
changes, if possible phone up to a room and ask the patient if they know so and so, and if they
want them to come to their room. Another option might be calling the nurses station or something
on the floor, but I can only imagine how crazy that would drive employees who are trying to do
their jobs. I can guess that most health care related organizations come across many situations and
circumstances that could sway between ethical and unethical, and the decision about what to do is
probably very difficult. It has been made very clear to me now, as to why hospitals have boards of
directors with members from different backgrounds, so that there is really someone pulling from
every angle to try and think about all the options to help make a sound

  • 2. For Years, Fifa Has Been The Center Of Allegations Involving For years, FIFA has been the center of allegations involving scandal, corruption, and general unhealthy management. The negativity surrounding the leadership of FIFA has caused the organization and the sport to spiral into questions of fairness, responsibility, and accountability. Football players and fans alike have lost a great deal of trust and respect for the organization that has promised to maintain the sanctity of their sport. As a task force, we have been assigned to revitalize the FIFAorganization and bring all of its actions to light. Our vision is a fair, clean sport that is enhanced by a just governing body. We wantto bring justice to the sport and its fans who relentlessly support it. We will condone honest actions taken by... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... FIFA must lead by example, they need to become more active in demonstrating the core value of leadership. How can we expect the football world to make the right decisions and to be honest in their ways of business if the main organization of football isn t doing so themselves? Lastly, we believe FIFA needs to master the core value of maturity. If we are expecting maturity when it comes to how players handle a bad call on the field, then we should also expect it of the largest organization of the sport itself, FIFA. If something were to go wrong in the future, whether it is with a player, board member, vice president, etc., FIFA should be mature about the situation and handle it properly and correct it. They should not let it slide or look the other away. In light of recent events that put the reputation of FIFA into question, our goal is to bring reforms that will restore FIFA as an organization built on honesty and friendly competition. In order to combat the alleged corruption throughout FIFA, our first objective is to create a decentralized system of authority. To do this, we first want to create a complete separation between the management that deals with the commercial aspect of FIFA and those who make executive decisions within FIFA. By doing this we believe that the temptation and occurrence of corruption will be decreased because those who work to create commercial deals and handle the bidding ... • 3. Love Medicine Essay Love Medicine Since the beginning of colonization of America, there has been the problem of dealing with the indigenous people of the land. After the first attempts in eradicating the population, the American government changed its policy to integration. It is this integration into white society and the severance from the Indian culture that causes disenfranchisement in the modern Indian reservation. In Louise Erdrich s Love Medicine, the contradictory efforts to isolate the Native Americans on reservations and to make regular Americans of them are seen over roughly a fifty year period. The Morrisseys, Kashpaws, Lamartines, Lazarres and others must define their relations to alien religions, customs, economic realities, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Lipsha also grows up without knowing of his ancestry and therefore feels incomplete. Added to the stress of this, Lipsha also feels detached from the white society by having the ability to use the old Indian medicines. Yet through the latter part of the book, Lipsha finds redemption from his disenfranchisement by finding the identity of his parents and accepting his talent. It is after he discovers this information that Lipsha crosses the river water and steps into his new existence. The character of Henry Junior not only illustrates the loneliness of not knowing one s father, but also of not belonging to the majority race of one s country. Henry Junior is one of the seemingly infinite amount of sons which resulted from Lulu Lamartine s friendliness . Due to this renowned trait of Lulu, Henry Junior was never quite sure who his father was. Yet Henry felt no connection with his fatherland either. In fact, fighting for the white man s war in Vietnam was inevitably the cause for Henry Junior s death. The atrocities committed during the war were never forgotten by Henry Junior s conscience and it isn t until his suicide in the river that his guilt and alienation is lifted. The intervention of so called western culture to the Indian population of North America has created a society of indigenous people that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many of their policies were similar, focusing on reform, destruction of monopolies and trusts, and improving conditions of the common American through policy change in Washington. However, both presidents are remembered in different lights and for vastly different reasons. Theodore Roosevelt unquestionably had the bigger positive impact on American idealism, as he is commemorated on Mount Rushmore and considered one of the five great American presidents. Roosevelt was the naturalist responsible for our national parks, but his policies on military and war were contradictory to the sensitivities he displayed toward nature. Roosevelt led the Rough Riders in the Spanish American War, and led the country similarly. Their age, mean FEV, and smoking history were all accounted and controlled for (Smith, et al, 2006). Methods used involved a cough challenge test, sound recordings of their cough day and night, and a questionnaire that involved their perceived quality of life (Smith, et al, 2006). The coughs were actually manually counted and then translated to coughs per hour. The cough seconds per hour was quantified based on the number of seconds in each recorded hour that contained a cough. The overall median time that was spent coughing was calculated to be 7.5 cough seconds for every hour, although this lessened considerably at night (Smith, et al, 2006). The subjective cough scores were taken into account and compared with the actual cough seconds per hour. It was found that the study participants often thought that they spent more time coughing than what the data indicated to b accurate (Smith, et al, 2006). By looking at the statistical data used (median cough seconds per hour), it can be seen that people with COPD do not (on average) spend that many seconds per hour coughing. However, because of the disruptive nature of coughing repeatedly throughout that hour, these individuals often think they spend much more time coughing than they actually do (Smith, et al, 2006). This was evidenced by the fact that a subjective measure of coughing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Lifelong Goal Of Saint Thomas Aquinas Ryan Comolli Study Of St. Thomas Aquinas Research Paper 11/23/2014 The lifelong goal of Saint Thomas Aquinas was to clearly elaborate the independence of philosophy and theology, but at the same time show their symbiotic relationship with each other. Throughout his life Aquinas was known as a theologian but many of his works carry strong philosophical undertones as well. The beauty of theology is it can enlighten us through its leap of faith. Philosophy was required to precede theology. The truths laid down from philosophy are concrete and coherent. These philosophical truths are the shoes in which theology can walk. Without philosophy there is no theology. Examples of this can be seen everywhere. Philosophical concepts like ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Their importance is paramount because these truths that we believe can in turn be used to create something greater. As St. Thomas progresses through his works he builds on philosophical truths in order to allow us to reach a greater higher knowledge. In his book the Summa Theologica Thomas says, We must bear in mind that there are two kinds of sciences. There are some which proceed from a principle known by the natural light of intelligence, such as arithmetic and geometry and the like. Others proceed from principles known by the light of a higher form of knowledge: Thus the science of perspective proceeds from principles established by geometry, and music from principles established by arithmetic. So it is that sacred doctrine is a science because it proceeds from principles established by the light of a higher form of knowledge, namely that of God and the blessed (I, q. 1, a. 2). Aquinas is establishing the basis for all of theology to be built upon. As he describes to us, there is always an action and reaction when it comes to human understanding. In order for someone to believe, there needs to be a definitive and concrete basis for which this knowledge is built. In the case of theology, we require the basics set forth by philosophy to establish the existence of God. This is and always will be the quintessential step in accepting the divine wisdom which god reveals to us. Belief in the Catholic Church and God ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Naked Egg Lab Experiment Naked Egg Lab Frances Jose Redmond High School Biology, Period 3 Mrs. Sinclair 7 November 2014 Introduction The objective of the Naked Egg Lab is to soak the egg in a solution and determine if that solution is isotonic, hypertonic, or hypotonic in relation to the egg. A solution is a mixture of two or more substances in which the molecules of the substances are evenly distributed (Miller/Levine 2000). The substances in a solution are solutes, the substance that is dissolved (Miller/Levine 2000), and solvents, the substance in which the solute dissolves (Miller/Levine 2000). In this case, the egg will be put in a salt water solution, where salt is the solute and water is the solvent. This lab is looking for three different types of solutions; isotonic, hypertonic, and hypotonic. An isotonic solution is when the concentration of two solutions is the same (Miller/Levine 2000). When a solution has a higher concentration of solutes than the solution on the other side of the membrane, it is hypertonic. Hypotonic solutions are the opposite, and have a lesser concentration of solutes than the solution on the other side of the membrane. Science DNA Technology Task 3 Poster DNA fingerprinting, also known as DNA profiling, is a technique used in forensic science that identifies individuals based on various characteristics of their DNA. Although the DNA sequences between humans are 99.9% identical, DNA fingerprinting is able to distinguish between individuals due to the presence of specific sequences within the non coding region of the genome known as satellite DNA. This satellite DNA consists of long stretches of DNA made up of repeating base sequences known as short tandem repeats (STR). These STRs considerably vary in length between individuals, particularly between unrelated individuals, allowing exact individuals to be identified. One major use of DNA fingerprinting is in ... In 1831, in Virginia, he led an insurrection and more than 55 white people were killed. It was very bloody and violent and angered many whites from its brutality (Nash, 275). Yet, many blacks felt that the only thing that would get a response was an uprising and taking drastic measures. In Christiana, Pennsylvania, the Fugitive Slave Laws were passed. These laws stated that whites could recapture their runaway slaves. Blacks were outraged by the passing of these laws and rioted in response to this (Roots of Resistance). This demonstrated how blacks would react in manners that were more forceful and these tactics were used by a number of other abolitionists, however, many still used different approaches to battling slavery. Taking place during the late eighteenth century, each molded different parts of Europe and had different social ramifications. The Industrial Revolution began in the late 1700 s and was the beginning of new innovations along with manufacturing processes. The French Revolution began during the year 1789, with two sides of the population fighting either for or against the monarchy.
