Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum Essay
The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum publically showcases Mrs. Gardner s collection in the greater
Boston area. Each room functions as a chapter of a pilgrimage. When one travels through various
countries and time periods, one inevitably ends up in a gallery built in the imitation of a chapel, and
subsequently the Gothic room. In this paper, I will examine the Gothic room s theme in relation to the
placement of its objects. I will also evaluate the room s strengths and challenges in serving the public,
and how the conventions employed in this room contribute to the general accessibility of the museum.
The room I chose at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum follows a Gothic theme. It contains objects,

Gardner s will. While the community has access to the museum, it is not as well known as the
Museum of Fine Arts Boston. The museum s upper floors, built with narrow hallways and staircases,
cannot accommodate large groups. The elevator is also not marked clearly, which creates a funneling
system with the one set of stairs. There is also a lack of information about art works displayed in the
museum. Since, in her will, Mrs. Gardner rejected any alteration to the museum s walls, visitors can
only rely on a limited amount of information cards when encountering an artwork, due to a lack of
labels. It is for that reason that academics who visit the museum to do research might find the scarcity
of information challenging. This process turns the museum visit into a treasure hunt of trying to locate
a specific object listed on the sheet to learn more about it. While this differs from a normal display, it
allows the patrons to interact with the art in a leisurely manner. It has the positive effect of entering a
new world when one walks into the

Evolution of Technology in the United States from 1860
A number of notable technological innovations have taken place between the years 1860 1870 in the
United States. In the sphere of communications, a major development was the completion of the first
transcontinental telegraph line across North America by Western Union in 1861 (Western Union
2009). Moreover, in 1866, after several failed attempts, the Transatlantic Cable was laid that
connected Europe and North America. Before this landmark event, the fastest communication between
the two continents had taken at least a week; after the cable was laid, messages could be transmitted
instantaneously. The first message was, famously, that a treaty of peace has been signed between
Austria and Prussia (History Magazine n/d, Third Time Lucky , ... Show more content on

The Stereotypes Of Reality Television
What once started as every day, regular people appearing on television shows have now morphed into
celebrities and want to be celebrities competing for attention and doing almost anything to receive it
on primetime television. The genre of television, which was once jumpstarted by the appeal of
relatable people, who could be the viewers next door neighbors, being featured has since disappeared
and been replaced by a monstrosity that does not accurately portray reality and often stereotypes
people (Huff). One specific group that has been targeted by what reality television has morphed into is
women. The new version of reality television is specifically adequate at encouraging gender culture,
the set of behaviors or practices associated with masculinity and femininity (Huff). Reality television
enforces gender roles and negatively impacts feminism in today s society. Reality television sexualizes
women, portrays them as dependent on and less superior to men, and exemplifies them as dramatic,
catty, and often only as homemakers. The portrayal and stereotyping of women on reality television is
demoralizing and can be described as the contemporary backlash against feminism ( Reality TV ).
These false and demeaning stereotypes are prevailed in all types of reality television shows, making
their impact extensive, considering Americans spend one third of their spare time watching television
and of that time sixty seven percent is spent watching reality television ( Reality

dramatic alterations in land use patterns and rapid disappearance of valuable natural ecosystems. The
need for more water, more food, more energy, more consumer goods, is not only the result of a greater
population, but also the result of over utilization of resources by people from the more affluent
societies, and the affluent sections of our own. Industrial development is aimed at meeting growing
demands for all consumer items. However, these consumer goods also generate waste in ever larger
quantities. The growth of industrial complexes has led to a shift of people from their traditional,
sustainable, rural way of life to urban centers that developed around industry. During the last few
decades, several small urban centers have become large cities, some have even become giant mega
cities. This has increased the disparity between what the surrounding land can produce and what the
large number of increasingly consumer oriented people in these areas of high population density
consume. Urban centers cannot exist without resources such as water from rivers and lakes, food from
agricultural areas, domestic animals from pasture lands and timber, fuel wood,

United States Judicial System
The Judicial system in the United States is a system that provides Courts with the power and authority
to administer justice, though that justice must be within the bounds of the law. As some laws in the
U.S. tend to be ambiguous, or lacking in specific direction as applied to a particular case, the Court
system is also responsible for interpreting the laws, and ensuring they are applied correctly on both the
state and federal levels.
While the Judicial system is not authorized by the U.S. Constitution to make laws, it applies the facts
of each case to the existing laws in order to reach a decision that ensures justice is served. In some
cases, the Court is required to make a decision about how a law should be applied to the particular

FT-Ir Advantages
The measured signal is digitized and sent to the computer where the Fourier transformation takes
place. The final infrared spectrum is then presented to the user for interpretation. A background
spectrum must also be measured with no sample in the beam. This can be compared to the
measurement with the sample in the beam to determine the percent transmittance. This technique
results in a spectrum which has all of the instrumental characteristics removed [195]. Some of the
major advantages of FT IR over the dispersive technique include: Speed: Because all of the
frequencies are measured simultaneously, most measurements by FT IR are made in a matter of
seconds rather than several minutes. This is referred to as the Felgett Advantage. Sensitivity: The
detectors employed are much more sensitive. The optical throughput is much higher (referred to as the
Jacquinot Advantage) results in lower noise levels and the fast scans. Mechanical Simplicity: The
moving mirror in the interferometer is the only continuously moving part in the instrument. Internally
Calibrated: These instruments employ a helium neon laser as an internal wavelength calibration
standard (referred to as the Connes Advantage). These instruments are self calibrating and never need
to be calibrated by the user. These advantages make extremely accurate measurements and ... Show

The New Data Retrieval And Mining Schemas Of A Large...
Recent advancements in internet communication and in parallel computing grabbed the attention of a
large number of commercial organizations and industries to adapt the recent changes in storage and
retrieval methods. This includes the new data retrieval and mining schemas which enable the firms to
provide their clients a wide space for carrying their job processing and storing of the personal data.
Although the new storage innovations made the user data to accommodate the petabyte scale in size,
the storing schemas are still on the research desk to compete with this adaptation. Some of the new

Joint Compressive Plan Of Action Analysis
The Joint Compressive Plan of Action In March 2013, President Obama s determination to achieve
real progress in the nuclear negotiations during his second term led to the start of a secret round of
negotiations with Iran. Rouhani s election brought back Javad Zarif, Iran s foreign minister, who had
previously negotiated with the E3. In September, just months after the Iranian election, the outline of a
deal (later known as JPOA) the between the two states broke surface. According to The Guardian, the
secret talks were the reason why United States and Iran were able to strike a deal quickly after
Rouhani s victory (Entessar and Afrasiabi 36). In addition, by summer 2013, Iran had completed the

reactors for 15 years. According to the same B.B.C. article, should Iran violate any aspect of the deal,
the UN sanctions will automatically snap back into place for 10 years, with the possibility of a five

Regarding the IAEA, Iran agreed to ratify the Additional Protocol and the Safeguards Agreements and

Reflection On Socialization
The process of socialization must happen in order to raise a child from their own individual oriented
lifestyle into one that will thrive within a diverse society. Though the child compromises aspects of
their original, uncultured persona, the trade off is for the better: a needy child could attend school and
gain independence, or an ornery toddler could learn the balance of actions and consequences through
time outs. From what I have observed, effective socialization requires that the child must primarily
learn from others of the same general status and age, as well as be able to find their niche within the
whole group to specialize their methods and actions accordingly.
I personally witnessed socialization in action and how it may initially cause rifts within a child s
psyche as they find their niche in their society. For example, last year I interned at a women s
substance abuse rehabilitation center, concentrating on the resident children and their resulting
behavioral tendencies. There was one 5 year old girl who I bonded notably closer to than all of the
other kids. During behavioral therapy sessions, I discovered that exposure to alcohol in utero had led
to her developing various emotional and attachment disorders. Her natural reaction to triggering
situations or conflict was to scream and whine relentlessly until she got her way, so in therapy she was
taught self soothing methods and practiced identifying her emotions in order to remedy her behavior.
During counseling, she made tremendous progress, quickly seeming to understand the emotional
concepts presented to her. However, when the morning therapy sessions were done, she would go to
preschool and act out as if she learned nothing. One day, I was called into her classroom because she
had allegedly struck a classmate after he stole a toy from her. I found her grinning guiltily while the
boy sobbed on the floor beside her. Before I could intervene, a classmate of hers consoled the boy and
invited him to play, all while ignoring her. As she observed her classmates interacting in this
wholesome, benevolent manner, she was being socialized to react correctly to her emotions. Her
actions did not receive the desired result, so she adjusted until they fell

The American Nurse Association ( Ana ) Code Of Ethics
Healthcare organizations are committed to providing clients with quality service and experience while
promoting safety, health, and healing. Nurses have the biggest impact in providing safe client care and
are known for their commitment in improving or increasing client health. However, this ethical
commitment may not always be met due to breakdowns in healthcare delivery. Deviations such as
adoption of unsafe practices or behaviors can lead to sentinel events. Any disconnects or disruptions
can be a detriment to client care. This paper will present recent cases of witnessed breakdowns of
facility protocols that have led to adoptions of unsafe nursing practices, discuss its impact to
healthcare, and how it has affected my personal perspective on the issue.
Provision three of the American Nurse Association (ANA) Code of Ethics states that the nurse
promotes, advocates for, and protects the rights, health, and safety of the patient. Within this standard,
it specifies that nurses have a professional responsibility in promoting a culture of safety (American
Nurse Association [ANA], 2015). As nursing students, we have the privilege of working with nurses
in different departments during clinical rotations. Nursing students are able to observe the ethical
application and inattention/negligence of this provision through the use of evidence based practice as
well as unhealthy practices, respectively. While on clinical rotation, the most common unsafe actions I

Bladen et al (2012:79 ) ,state that, Operational planning takes place after the strategic plans have been
put in place . and say that these are a set of plans which detail the skills and resources needed to
manage an event.
This is supported by O`Toole (2011:253) who says , Event operations are concerned with the day to
day management of an event and include the implementation , control and administration of the
planning process. The operations of the event are the attendee`s main experience . The site, the
logistics and the programme are the areas of concern . O`Toole adds that operations result from
decisions made by management long before the event occurs. Bladen et al (2012) define the planning
stage as involving developing a concept, carrying out a feasibility study ,choosing a venue and
considering the event design . O`Toole (2011:264 ) also stresses the importance of the feasibility study
with an action as a result of the study ,saying, This is whether or not it should lead to an event .
Then action plans can be created from the strategies to form detailed operational plans to include the
number of planned attendees ,timings and space required. This might include single use plans for non

period was chosen because the new romantic fashions were so different to the punk fashions that had

Men and women tried to be what is typically considered masculine both in look and attitude and the
era was a negative time as the rebels hit out. It appeared they wanted to stand out from others with
their uncommon choice of clothing, hairstyles, jewellery and body modification. Fashion worn by the
punks also reflected their opinion of the government, stuck together with safety pins ; the idea that the
economy was falling apart with unemployment. Safety pins and studs were a popular choice to
accessorise punk outfits with (as seen in the photo below) as they give the tough and rebellious
masculine feel to their outfit. It also showed a creative aspect as they began to add and adapt everyday
objects such as bin liners and razor blades, in attempt to give an aesthetically pleasing finish. Tape was
also used in addition to safety pins in order to hold together rips in clothing although not all rips as

embellishments made with marker or paint decorated many clothes. These were often added to denim,

Racing is about discipline and intelligence, not about who has the heavier foot. The one who drives

takes learning to the next level. Self directed learning is essentially being able to teach yourself.
Teaching yourself means being willing to go above and beyond to learn thoroughly, sometimes by
using outside sources. The book The Art of Racing in the Rain, authored by Garth Stein, altered my
view on the humanities. This work documented the human experience in a light that I would not have

because it tells that you only need the second chance if you leave business undone. Eve dies in the
book but there is not a rebirth talked about for her because she leaves with no unfinished business.
Enzo s rebirth allows him to have the freedom he didn t have as a dog, and Enzo imagines Denny s

than feared. If I had a steering wheel to hold onto, everything would be all right. This quote comes

Genetic Interventions
Genetic Interventions and the Ethics of Enhancement of Human Beings The essay Genetic
Interventions and the Ethics of Enhancement of Human Beings , by Julian Savulescu is a moral
problems essay about genetically modifying human beings, specifically children, and not only does it
support the arguement, it also gives objections, ethical theories related to genetic enhancement, and
examples of what exactly it is and does. The main focus of the essay is about genetically modifying
people to choose their appearance, intellectual capabilities, or to prevent diseases they may develop.
Savulescu begins his essay with support for why genetic interventions and enhancements for us
human beings is so important and necessary. His main argument is If ... Show more content on

Some of the pros are it can prevent disease, it can eliminate discrimination, and can lead people to live
better lives. For me the biggest pro to this method is preventing disease. So many people die every
year from diseases such as cancer that if we could isolate a gene to cure cancer we could save so many
lives and so many people and their families from sorrow and suffering every day. A con to this
prevention of disease would be people that work in the field of treatment for the particular disease that
has been genetically treated may lose their job. Another pro of genetic intervention is that the media
gives us an unrealistic image for us to look up to. Being able to genetically enhance human beings will
eliminate the distress of young guys and girls to look like the supermodels on TV. The con of this is
everyone will look the same and there will be no individuality amongst the human race. The biggest
con for me of this method is the argument that you are playing God. I don t believe it is our place as
human beings to step in and interfere with what God has created. I think God creates people to look,
act, and have certain ailments for a reason and interfering with that could be going against God s
wishes. Overall, I would not support genetic enhancement and if I had to it would only be for the case

Essay On Visual Perception
Evaluate the evidence that visual perception involves bottom up and top down processing.
The perceptual system is comprised of a of a diverse range of senses including visual, auditory,
olfactory and tactition; the perceptual system is part of the nervous system, which contains millions of
nerve cells called receptors that sense and respond to a plethora of sensory stimuli including light,
sound and temperature. The act of perceiving rather than merely sensing enables us to analyse and
make sense of incoming sensory information, allowing us to construct a description of the
environment to inform and guide our actions within a complex, dynamic world. For primates, as

The vibrant environment to which Gibson refers is composed of images and surfaces with varying
densities, textures, sizes, distances and shapes, and the interaction or movement of the observer and
the movement of the object provide ample information to generate perception.
Gibson emphasises the significance of what he terms the optic array whereby light reflected from a
multitude of textured surfaces unites in the visual field occupied by the observer, thus altering in
conjunction with the position of the observer, hence providing information about where the object is in
space. Furthermore, Gibson purposed that in addition to the optic array, invariants or higher order
features, such as horizon ration relation and texture gradient offer explicit insight into the nature of the
environment (as cited in Pike Edgar, 2010, pp 74 76). Horizon ration relation explored by Sedgwick
(1973) enables us to judge relative heights and distances of objects; the distance of objects can be
judged as the ratio of the proportion of the horizon above to below the object remains constant,
however if objects viewed at the same distance differ in height the overall height of the horizon
correspondingly increases (as cited in Pike Edgar, 2010 pp 74 76). Likewise, texture gradient provides
information about the density, height, and width of individual elements contained within and varying
from surface to surface. Additionally Gibson posits motion and

Essay about Ray Charles Robinson
Ray Charles Robinson
Ray Charles Robinson, more commonly known as Ray Charles (to avoid confusion with boxer Sugar
Ray Robinson), was born in the southern city of Albany, GA on September 23, 1930. He was a
prolific, multi talented singer, pianist, bandleader, and composer who, when on stage captivated his
audience not only by his musical ability, but also because he was a blind, African American man. He
was given the nickname the Genius for his capability of combining the music of gospel, jazz, pop,
country and rhythm and blues (R B), known as soul music.
Charles began going blind at around age five, and had completely lost all eye sight by age seven. The
cause of his blindness was never confirmed, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
About a year later, in 1951, Charles recorded his first hit song, Baby, Let Me Hold Your Hand. Charles
musical style was heavily influenced by Nat King Cole and Charles Brown. But he was able to do
even more with his music, and more or less created a whole new musical genre, especially after
meeting musical mogul Quincy Jones, who took Charles under his wing. He drew mainstream,
national attention with his performance of I Got a Woman and Hallelujah, I Love Her So, fusing
gospel with R B and jazz. The group had a few million seller records, and with this boost in his career,
Charles was able to attain his own record deal with Atlantic Records in 1954. In 1955, Charles formed
his own band, frequently backed by a group of female gospel style singers known as the Raelettes,
with whom he traveled for many years. In 1959, Charles recorded What d I Say which became his
own first million dollar seller. Soon after, he left Atlantic Records for ABC Records because he felt
that they wanted him to strictly be an R B performer and weren t willing to grow with him and his
music.
By the mid 1960 s, after fighting a long, uphill battle to end his seventeen year addiction to heroin,
Charles finally regained control over his life. He started his own record label, Tangerine (later known
as Crossover), and recorded some of his most famous songs Georgia on My Mind, I Can t Stop

Black Spiderman Music Video Analysis
Black Spiderman Music Video Analysis
It s fascinating to see all the various interpretations there are about movies, books, shows, ads, and
music videos. A humorous joke to someone might be the most offensive insult another person has ever
heard. For example, one might be watching a comedy show and suddenly a man is telling a woman to
shut up and make him a sandwich. The male audience will generally find it hilarious. However, the
viewers who just so happen to be women might not be so keen on the sexist remark. It is crucial to
recognize the messages behind the media we see and whether one ought to be upholding them or not.
In the music video for Black Spiderman; Logic has Damian dress up as Spiderman which signifies:
black people deserve better roles in the media such as superheroes, it s important for black kids to
have representation, and overall, it s refreshing to see a whole new different perspective.
For starters, black people should be given more positive roles rather than always being portrayed
negatively by playing the typical: thug, gangster, rude, or violent character. For the most part, what the
public is shown on their screens stays engraved in their heads. This eventually projects in their words
and actions. Therefore, seeing black people frequently act out as problematic characters can be
harmful as to how society genuinely perceives African Americans in real life. It puts inaccurate
notions into people s minds which can unfortunately lead to racism. It s

I have never been to the place in this passage, yet I feel the heartbreak of leaving it. Music allows me

For a long time, I have tried writing down what I see. I try to capture the setting, the characters, and
the emotions as I play the song over and over. For The Lark , I tried to capture the feeling of missing
the place my home once was. While writing can get close, I believe some things can never be

Iago Quotes In Othello
Be careful who you trust, the devil was once an angel. (Unknown). Honest Iago, good Iago, many
names for the character who created so much chaos throughout Shakespeare s classic tragedy Othello.
Iago manipulated everyone; he went out of his way to destroy Othello s relationships with
Desdemona, take everything from Rodrigo, and the effort to destroy Cassio.
Othello had much respect towards Iago and put much trust into him. Iago was very good a hiding his
true intentions to take down Othello s relationship.
After some time, to abuse Othello s ear

Little by little Iago was able to push Othello to the point where he was no longer the person we saw at
the beginning of the play. Othello killed Desdemona because he though Iago was his friend and would
never lie. Iago was a very toxic friend since the start and knew exactly how the story would end
because he had everyone wrapped around his finger.
Rodrigo was another victim that payed for Iago s wrath towards Othello, envy towards Cassio, and
overall greed for money and power, all of which are deadly sins. Iago charmed Rodrigo with the idea
that he could have his one true desire; the fair Desdemona. Iago never cared for Rodrigo and though
he was pathetic as did the audience because he was constantly whiny. Rodrigo was also gullible and
very desperate to win Desdemona s affection. In act 2 scene 3 Rodrigo is very emotional over that fact
he feels he will never get Desdemona because Iago is not giving him results and ends up saying I will
incontinently drown myself. . Iago again out of self need helps Rodrigo so he will not kill himself. The
reason he stops Rodrigo is because he is the source of his money, and he knows he will need him in
the future for his plan. He does end up becoming part of his plan in helping destroy Cassio, but
Rodrigo dies at the hands of Iago so that Iago would look like a hero and the one person who knew his
plan is dead. Iago is a master of manipulation and which lead to Rodrigo ending in a very unfortunate
situation.

Benefits Of The GI Bill
GI Bill: The Servicemen Readjustment Act of 1944
In World War I, the servicemen had postponed benefits that were promised to them. This caused
political turmoil and the response was the Servicemen Readjustment Act of 1944, which is also known
as the GI Bill. This bill provided a range of benefits for the returning World War II veterans. The GI
Bill made a step in the right direction to ensure rightful benefits to the veterans, but did have faults.
The American Legion played an important role in the enactment of the bill. The GI Bill did not
advocate discrimination, but had been interpreted differently for African Americans. The bill also did
not include Merchant Marines, which were carriers and ships that delivered war supplies to the
soldiers. Over the years, adjustments to the GI Bill were made.
The Servicemen Readjustment Act of 1944 was enacted after the soldiers of World War I had come
back from the war and had troubles making ends meet. The soldiers had help from government
benefits, but the benefits were not enough to help soldiers transitioning back to the work force.
Congress had stepped in and made the Act of 1924. This Act promised a bonus that was based on the
number of days that were served in the military. However, this bonus was not put into action until 20
years later, which was too late for struggling soldiers. A group of veterans called the Bonus Marchers
was composed up of 17,000 United States World War I veterans, veterans families, and other groups
that were affiliated with them. The Bonus Marchers marched to the Capitol in Washington, D.C. and
demanded the bonus that they were promised. The government did not convey and ended up sending
out U.S. troops against the WWI veterans under President Hoover s demands. This movement, putting
veterans against soldiers, was a turning point in veterans rights.
President Franklin D. Roosevelt was determined to right the wrong that was done to the veterans. On
June 22, 1944, the GI Bill was signed into law. February 17, 1944 marks the date that the American
Legion began their daily meetings on how to get the GI Bill of Rights passed. Other veteran affiliated
organizations that played a role in the creation of the

A Brief Article On Being An Atheist
Response Paper on H.J. McCloskey article On being an atheist
Name
Course
Date
During the year 1968, an atheist philosopher H.J. McCloskey came up with a powerful argument
about how being an atheist was greater than the theistic way of life. Through this article, McCloskey
finds a way to condemn numerous arguments which theist consider as true and in most cases seem to
mock and impeach the believers of God. Some of the arguments that McCloskey tries to diminish are
the three mutual proofs that most theists depend upon for their belief in God. The proofs include;
cosmological proof, teleological proof and the argument from design. McCloskey also talks about the
complications of evil and how its presence rejects the truth about God. At the end of the article, he
maintains that atheism is heartening, meaning that it is more calming than theism. Below are a
detailed discussion and validity of the truth about the three claims that McCloskey wants to rebate in
the article and finally dispute the problem of evil to censure the thought that atheism is cool and
comforting1.
McCloskey mostly insults the theistic opinion as one of ignorance and ambiguity. Referring to the
believers of God, he say they do not think hard enough nor far enough about the difficulty of an
uncaused reason, who has to be a unavoidably existing being to prove that the argument is far less
conclusive than it appears to be at first sight. In addition, his reference of theists as being ignorant is

Colin Kaepernick Takes A Stand By Kneeling
The message being sent by Billy Witz in his article, This Time, Colin Kaepernick Takes a Stand by

anthem rather than stand with his team. Most people in the crowd booed Kaepernick because they had
thought that he was underrating the sacrifices made by the military. After the game, he stated, I love

The Stroop s Stroop Experiment
Introduction
In 1935, John Ridley Stroop further researched and printed the whole idea of the Stroop effect which
is also named after himself. The main purpose of the stroop experiment is to time how fast the
participants are to respond to different coloured stimuli presented to them in different conditions. This
measures the cognitive ability of the individuals involved as it tests the memory and focus.
The work of John Ridley Stroop was originally a study that came from James McKeen Cattell (1991),
his study was focused on how reading words takes less time than naming coloured objects which
draws similarities to the stroop experiment.
The main problem of the stroop experiment arises from colour naming and word reading due to the

This is an experiment based on cognitive functions, judging by normal human behaviour it is believed
that the participants involved in the stroop test will react faster to words under the matched condition
in comparison to the mismatched condition. The stroop test is focused on mental functions, based on
usual human behaviour it is believed that the participants involved in the stroop test will react faster to
words under the matched condition in comparison to the mismatched condition. The reaction time
between the stimulus and the response will be longer when the font and the colour are different from
each other.
Methods
Design
The experimental design used for this experiment is a between group design. A between group design
is an experiment that includes two or more groups of participants being tested at the same time.
Independent variable: Matched and Mismatched conditions
Dependent variable: Number of Correct answers

Conflict and reconciliation in familial relationships in Literature
Hayden s Those Winter Sundays , Baldwin Sonny s blues and Grimm brothers Cinderella describes
certain sensitive situations most families sometimes find themselves in when disagreeing on diverse
issues that can be resolved when parties are determined to. In these pieces of literature, family
conflicts are portrayed as simple disagreements that in certain cases result in family break ups and
unnecessary hostilities. These pieces of work are very explicit and affirm that in any situation where
there are facts, inclinations, and distress, there is a relatively high possibility for conflicts to occur.
However, contrary to the popular opinion, these fundamental causes of family conflicts are human
made and can be resolved when proper channels are followed in a collaborative manner as portrayed
in these three literatures. Indeed, virtually all families are at one period of time obliged to pass through
diverse everyday conflicts, but with determination and acceptance of mistakes, appropriate processes
of reconciliation can be instituted and the family ultimately return back to normalcy.
This piece of work by Grimm brothers describes a familial conflict pitting a step mother and step
daughter who is obliged to unite after the sudden death of her birth mother. Grimm brothers rues the
step mother s poor communication skills and lack of some important

Agriculture In Mesoamerican Civilization
The Mesoamerican people who inhabited the Western Hemisphere developed independently from the
rest of the world by natural barriers set by oceans to both the east and the west. From the time period
spanning from 1200s BCE to 1500s CE, the Olmecs, Mayans, and Aztecs lived on the isolated land for
centuries, establishing their distinctive scientific and academic achievements. At the other side of the
globe in Mesopotamia, a civilization in the form of a city state called Sumer also incorporated
achievements similar to that of the Olmecs, Mayans, and Aztecs. The extensive use of irrigation was
found in all four groups of people that became a vital part of their life, providing water to crops in
locations not necessarily directly next to a water ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout the three civilizations, various methods of dealing with crops were introduced in attempts
of increasing yield and production. The Olmecs developed irrigation, which made agriculture an
important element of Mesoamerican life as it brought surpluses that led to population growth and
civilization expansion. Alongside irrigation is the extensive planting and harvesting of crops like
beans, squash, and especially maize that became the basis and stable crops of the community. The
Mayans continued the agricultural success of the preceding people by draining swamps and erecting
platforms for farming. These two practices greatly expanded the amount of land agriculture could take
place in a geography without vast fertile lands, further leading to population boost and empire
building in addition to the long lasting practice of irrigation. With with the aid of innovations made
into reality by the two previous groups of people, the Aztecs kept the tradition of constant
improvement to current conditions. Building up on the Mayan efforts of draining swamps, the Aztecs
developed Chinampas. These aquatic water beds that acted as floating islands extended the existing
use of irrigation on the rich aquatic environment of the capital, Tenochtitlan. With these multiple
examples and instances of agricultural advancements that continued and improved on the products and
practices of previous civilizations, changes still coexist in the middle as the use of calendar differed
from one civilization to the next despite sharing a root of calendar

The Application Of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles
Nowadays, new technology is rapidly shaping the way how construction projects are delivered. The
application of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) is one of these examples. Unlike conventional aerial
measurement by aircraft, it doesn t require expensive aeronautical facility and trivial procedure.
Comparing to other surveying approaches like using the GPS navigation, the UAV systems can
outperform in many large scale projects by saving cost and time. There many explorations to potential

To fulfill that goal, the booming technology like point cloud technology can be utilized with the
UAVs. In construction aspect, the point cloud data is a set of coordinates produced by 3D scanning
process which executed by the UAVs. By software like Geomagic Studio, the point cloud data for the
job site can be converted into 3D topographic, or the sections inside the building can be transformed
into 3D models. By the year 2018, the domestic UAV industry is expected to grow to be a $13.6
billion market (Hanna, 2014). Due to the small payload of the UAVs and the movement attributions in
the flight, the most of unmanned aerial vehicles utilized in the construction site cannot be equipped
with professional cameras. However, the data collected by UAVs still meets the accuracy requirements
for the construction. Comparing to other surveying options like using measure station or GPS
equipment, the data collected by UAV systems can still outperform the data measured by traditional
equipment and techniques in cost and time. Therefore, with proper construction strategy, the UAV
systems with point cloud can be a promising tool for construction. It is important for construction
managers to consider value engineering which means balancing three elements: quality, cost, and
schedule in the construction process. Basically, applying UAV system with point cloud technology can
improve the overall construction efficiency through three aspects: improving the

  • 2. Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum Essay The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum publically showcases Mrs. Gardner s collection in the greater Boston area. Each room functions as a chapter of a pilgrimage. When one travels through various countries and time periods, one inevitably ends up in a gallery built in the imitation of a chapel, and subsequently the Gothic room. In this paper, I will examine the Gothic room s theme in relation to the placement of its objects. I will also evaluate the room s strengths and challenges in serving the public, and how the conventions employed in this room contribute to the general accessibility of the museum. The room I chose at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum follows a Gothic theme. It contains objects, such as paintings, tapestries, altarpieces, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Gardner s will. While the community has access to the museum, it is not as well known as the Museum of Fine Arts Boston. The museum s upper floors, built with narrow hallways and staircases, cannot accommodate large groups. The elevator is also not marked clearly, which creates a funneling system with the one set of stairs. There is also a lack of information about art works displayed in the museum. Since, in her will, Mrs. Gardner rejected any alteration to the museum s walls, visitors can only rely on a limited amount of information cards when encountering an artwork, due to a lack of labels. It is for that reason that academics who visit the museum to do research might find the scarcity of information challenging. This process turns the museum visit into a treasure hunt of trying to locate a specific object listed on the sheet to learn more about it. While this differs from a normal display, it allows the patrons to interact with the art in a leisurely manner. It has the positive effect of entering a new world when one walks into the ... • 3. Evolution of Technology in the United States from 1860 A number of notable technological innovations have taken place between the years 1860 1870 in the United States. In the sphere of communications, a major development was the completion of the first transcontinental telegraph line across North America by Western Union in 1861 (Western Union 2009). Moreover, in 1866, after several failed attempts, the Transatlantic Cable was laid that connected Europe and North America. Before this landmark event, the fastest communication between the two continents had taken at least a week; after the cable was laid, messages could be transmitted instantaneously. The first message was, famously, that a treaty of peace has been signed between Austria and Prussia (History Magazine n/d, Third Time Lucky , ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 4. The Stereotypes Of Reality Television What once started as every day, regular people appearing on television shows have now morphed into celebrities and want to be celebrities competing for attention and doing almost anything to receive it on primetime television. The genre of television, which was once jumpstarted by the appeal of relatable people, who could be the viewers next door neighbors, being featured has since disappeared and been replaced by a monstrosity that does not accurately portray reality and often stereotypes people (Huff). One specific group that has been targeted by what reality television has morphed into is women. The new version of reality television is specifically adequate at encouraging gender culture, the set of behaviors or practices associated with masculinity and femininity (Huff). Reality television enforces gender roles and negatively impacts feminism in today s society. Reality television sexualizes women, portrays them as dependent on and less superior to men, and exemplifies them as dramatic, catty, and often only as homemakers. The portrayal and stereotyping of women on reality television is demoralizing and can be described as the contemporary backlash against feminism ( Reality TV ). These false and demeaning stereotypes are prevailed in all types of reality television shows, making their impact extensive, considering Americans spend one third of their spare time watching television and of that time sixty seven percent is spent watching reality television ( Reality ... These changes have brought about dramatic alterations in land use patterns and rapid disappearance of valuable natural ecosystems. The need for more water, more food, more energy, more consumer goods, is not only the result of a greater population, but also the result of over utilization of resources by people from the more affluent societies, and the affluent sections of our own. Industrial development is aimed at meeting growing demands for all consumer items. However, these consumer goods also generate waste in ever larger quantities. The growth of industrial complexes has led to a shift of people from their traditional, sustainable, rural way of life to urban centers that developed around industry. During the last few decades, several small urban centers have become large cities, some have even become giant mega cities. This has increased the disparity between what the surrounding land can produce and what the large number of increasingly consumer oriented people in these areas of high population density consume. Urban centers cannot exist without resources such as water from rivers and lakes, food from agricultural areas, domestic animals from pasture lands and timber, fuel wood, ... United States Judicial System The Judicial system in the United States is a system that provides Courts with the power and authority to administer justice, though that justice must be within the bounds of the law. As some laws in the U.S. tend to be ambiguous, or lacking in specific direction as applied to a particular case, the Court system is also responsible for interpreting the laws, and ensuring they are applied correctly on both the state and federal levels. While the Judicial system is not authorized by the U.S. Constitution to make laws, it applies the facts of each case to the existing laws in order to reach a decision that ensures justice is served. • 7. FT-Ir Advantages The measured signal is digitized and sent to the computer where the Fourier transformation takes place. The final infrared spectrum is then presented to the user for interpretation. A background spectrum must also be measured with no sample in the beam. This can be compared to the measurement with the sample in the beam to determine the percent transmittance. This technique results in a spectrum which has all of the instrumental characteristics removed [195]. Some of the major advantages of FT IR over the dispersive technique include: Speed: Because all of the frequencies are measured simultaneously, most measurements by FT IR are made in a matter of seconds rather than several minutes. This is referred to as the Felgett Advantage. Sensitivity: The detectors employed are much more sensitive. The optical throughput is much higher (referred to as the Jacquinot Advantage) results in lower noise levels and the fast scans. Mechanical Simplicity: The moving mirror in the interferometer is the only continuously moving part in the instrument. Internally Calibrated: These instruments employ a helium neon laser as an internal wavelength calibration standard (referred to as the Connes Advantage). Although the new storage innovations made the user data to accommodate the petabyte scale in size, the storing schemas are still on the research desk to compete with this adaptation. Joint Compressive Plan Of Action Analysis The Joint Compressive Plan of Action In March 2013, President Obama s determination to achieve real progress in the nuclear negotiations during his second term led to the start of a secret round of negotiations with Iran. In September, just months after the Iranian election, the outline of a deal (later known as JPOA) the between the two states broke surface. • 15. Reflection On Socialization The process of socialization must happen in order to raise a child from their own individual oriented lifestyle into one that will thrive within a diverse society. Though the child compromises aspects of their original, uncultured persona, the trade off is for the better: a needy child could attend school and gain independence, or an ornery toddler could learn the balance of actions and consequences through time outs. From what I have observed, effective socialization requires that the child must primarily learn from others of the same general status and age, as well as be able to find their niche within the whole group to specialize their methods and actions accordingly. I personally witnessed socialization in action and how it may initially cause rifts within a child s psyche as they find their niche in their society. For example, last year I interned at a women s substance abuse rehabilitation center, concentrating on the resident children and their resulting behavioral tendencies. There was one 5 year old girl who I bonded notably closer to than all of the other kids. During behavioral therapy sessions, I discovered that exposure to alcohol in utero had led to her developing various emotional and attachment disorders. Her natural reaction to triggering situations or conflict was to scream and whine relentlessly until she got her way, so in therapy she was taught self soothing methods and practiced identifying her emotions in order to remedy her behavior. During counseling, she made tremendous progress, quickly seeming to understand the emotional concepts presented to her. However, when the morning therapy sessions were done, she would go to preschool and act out as if she learned nothing. One day, I was called into her classroom because she had allegedly struck a classmate after he stole a toy from her. I found her grinning guiltily while the boy sobbed on the floor beside her. Before I could intervene, a classmate of hers consoled the boy and invited him to play, all while ignoring her. As she observed her classmates interacting in this wholesome, benevolent manner, she was being socialized to react correctly to her emotions. Her actions did not receive the desired result, so she adjusted until they fell ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The American Nurse Association ( Ana ) Code Of Ethics Healthcare organizations are committed to providing clients with quality service and experience while promoting safety, health, and healing. Nurses have the biggest impact in providing safe client care and are known for their commitment in improving or increasing client health. However, this ethical commitment may not always be met due to breakdowns in healthcare delivery. Deviations such as adoption of unsafe practices or behaviors can lead to sentinel events. Any disconnects or disruptions can be a detriment to client care. This paper will present recent cases of witnessed breakdowns of facility protocols that have led to adoptions of unsafe nursing practices, discuss its impact to healthcare, and how it has affected my personal perspective on the issue. Provision three of the American Nurse Association (ANA) Code of Ethics states that the nurse promotes, advocates for, and protects the rights, health, and safety of the patient. Within this standard, it specifies that nurses have a professional responsibility in promoting a culture of safety (American Nurse Association [ANA], 2015). As nursing students, we have the privilege of working with nurses in different departments during clinical rotations. Nursing students are able to observe the ethical application and inattention/negligence of this provision through the use of evidence based practice as well as unhealthy practices, respectively. A con to this prevention of disease would be people that work in the field of treatment for the particular disease that has been genetically treated may lose their job. Another pro of genetic intervention is that the media gives us an unrealistic image for us to look up to. The con of this is everyone will look the same and there will be no individuality amongst the human race. The biggest con for me of this method is the argument that you are playing God. The vibrant environment to which Gibson refers is composed of images and surfaces with varying densities, textures, sizes, distances and shapes, and the interaction or movement of the observer and the movement of the object provide ample information to generate perception. Gibson emphasises the significance of what he terms the optic array whereby light reflected from a multitude of textured surfaces unites in the visual field occupied by the observer, thus altering in conjunction with the position of the observer, hence providing information about where the object is in space. Furthermore, Gibson purposed that in addition to the optic array, invariants or higher order features, such as horizon ration relation and texture gradient offer explicit insight into the nature of the environment (as cited in Pike Edgar, 2010, pp 74 76). Horizon ration relation explored by Sedgwick (1973) enables us to judge relative heights and distances of objects; the distance of objects can be judged as the ratio of the proportion of the horizon above to below the object remains constant, however if objects viewed at the same distance differ in height the overall height of the horizon correspondingly increases (as cited in Pike Edgar, 2010 pp 74 76). Likewise, texture gradient provides information about the density, height, and width of individual elements contained within and varying from surface to surface. This caused political turmoil and the response was the Servicemen Readjustment Act of 1944, which is also known as the GI Bill. This bill provided a range of benefits for the returning World War II veterans. The GI Bill made a step in the right direction to ensure rightful benefits to the veterans, but did have faults. The American Legion played an important role in the enactment of the bill. The GI Bill did not advocate discrimination, but had been interpreted differently for African Americans. The bill also did not include Merchant Marines, which were carriers and ships that delivered war supplies to the soldiers. Over the years, adjustments to the GI Bill were made. The Servicemen Readjustment Act of 1944 was enacted after the soldiers of World War I had come back from the war and had troubles making ends meet. The soldiers had help from government benefits, but the benefits were not enough to help soldiers transitioning back to the work force. Congress had stepped in and made the Act of 1924. This Act promised a bonus that was based on the number of days that were served in the military. However, this bonus was not put into action until 20 years later, which was too late for struggling soldiers. McCloskey came up with a powerful argument about how being an atheist was greater than the theistic way of life. Through this article, McCloskey finds a way to condemn numerous arguments which theist consider as true and in most cases seem to mock and impeach the believers of God. Some of the arguments that McCloskey tries to diminish are the three mutual proofs that most theists depend upon for their belief in God. The proofs include; cosmological proof, teleological proof and the argument from design. McCloskey also talks about the complications of evil and how its presence rejects the truth about God. At the end of the article, he maintains that atheism is heartening, meaning that it is more calming than theism. Below are a detailed discussion and validity of the truth about the three claims that McCloskey wants to rebate in the article and finally dispute the problem of evil to censure the thought that atheism is cool and comforting1. McCloskey mostly insults the theistic opinion as one of ignorance and ambiguity. Referring to the believers of God, he say they do not think hard enough nor far enough about the difficulty of an uncaused reason, who has to be a unavoidably existing being to prove that the argument is far less conclusive than it appears to be at first sight. Sadighim,Candice English 2 Cramer 3 November 2015 Conflict and reconciliation in familial relationships in Literature Hayden s Those Winter Sundays , Baldwin Sonny s blues and Grimm brothers Cinderella describes certain sensitive situations most families sometimes find themselves in when disagreeing on diverse issues that can be resolved when parties are determined to. In these pieces of literature, family conflicts are portrayed as simple disagreements that in certain cases result in family break ups and unnecessary hostilities. These pieces of work are very explicit and affirm that in any situation where there are facts, inclinations, and distress, there is a relatively high possibility for conflicts to occur. However, contrary to the popular opinion, these fundamental causes of family conflicts are human made and can be resolved when proper channels are followed in a collaborative manner as portrayed in these three literatures. Indeed, virtually all families are at one period of time obliged to pass through diverse everyday conflicts, but with determination and acceptance of mistakes, appropriate processes of reconciliation can be instituted and the family ultimately return back to normalcy. This piece of work by Grimm brothers describes a familial conflict pitting a step mother and step daughter who is obliged to unite after the sudden death of her birth mother. Grimm brothers rues the step mother s poor communication skills and lack of some important ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Agriculture In Mesoamerican Civilization The Mesoamerican people who inhabited the Western Hemisphere developed independently from the rest of the world by natural barriers set by oceans to both the east and the west. From the time period spanning from 1200s BCE to 1500s CE, the Olmecs, Mayans, and Aztecs lived on the isolated land for centuries, establishing their distinctive scientific and academic achievements. At the other side of the globe in Mesopotamia, a civilization in the form of a city state called Sumer also incorporated achievements similar to that of the Olmecs, Mayans, and Aztecs. The extensive use of irrigation was found in all four groups of people that became a vital part of their life, providing water to crops in locations not necessarily directly next to a water ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Throughout the three civilizations, various methods of dealing with crops were introduced in attempts of increasing yield and production. The Olmecs developed irrigation, which made agriculture an important element of Mesoamerican life as it brought surpluses that led to population growth and civilization expansion. Alongside irrigation is the extensive planting and harvesting of crops like beans, squash, and especially maize that became the basis and stable crops of the community. The Mayans continued the agricultural success of the preceding people by draining swamps and erecting platforms for farming. These two practices greatly expanded the amount of land agriculture could take place in a geography without vast fertile lands, further leading to population boost and empire building in addition to the long lasting practice of irrigation. With with the aid of innovations made into reality by the two previous groups of people, the Aztecs kept the tradition of constant improvement to current conditions. Building up on the Mayan efforts of draining swamps, the Aztecs developed Chinampas. These aquatic water beds that acted as floating islands extended the existing use of irrigation on the rich aquatic environment of the capital, Tenochtitlan. With these multiple examples and instances of agricultural advancements that continued and improved on the products and practices of previous civilizations, changes still coexist in the middle as the use of calendar differed from one civilization to the next despite sharing a root of calendar ... • 35. The Application Of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles Nowadays, new technology is rapidly shaping the way how construction projects are delivered. The application of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) is one of these examples. Unlike conventional aerial measurement by aircraft, it doesn t require expensive aeronautical facility and trivial procedure. Comparing to other surveying approaches like using the GPS navigation, the UAV systems can outperform in many large scale projects by saving cost and time. There many explorations to potential applications of UAVs budget and schedule control, construction innovation, and safety practices. However, in the United States, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and many state regulations often prevent or limit the wide use of UAVs. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To fulfill that goal, the booming technology like point cloud technology can be utilized with the UAVs. In construction aspect, the point cloud data is a set of coordinates produced by 3D scanning process which executed by the UAVs. By software like Geomagic Studio, the point cloud data for the job site can be converted into 3D topographic, or the sections inside the building can be transformed into 3D models. By the year 2018, the domestic UAV industry is expected to grow to be a $13.6 billion market (Hanna, 2014). Due to the small payload of the UAVs and the movement attributions in the flight, the most of unmanned aerial vehicles utilized in the construction site cannot be equipped with professional cameras. However, the data collected by UAVs still meets the accuracy requirements for the construction. Comparing to other surveying options like using measure station or GPS equipment, the data collected by UAV systems can still outperform the data measured by traditional equipment and techniques in cost and time. Therefore, with proper construction strategy, the UAV systems with point cloud can be a promising tool for construction. It is important for construction managers to consider value engineering which means balancing three elements: quality, cost, and schedule in the construction process. Basically, applying UAV system with point cloud technology can improve the overall construction efficiency through three aspects: improving the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
