My Heart Is Beating So Fast
Dahlia My heart is beating so fast. I look around at both of their terrified faces. We are going to
die. All of us are going to die; we are going to die. I haven t even lived yet. Life has barely begun,
and it was going to end. They both turn to me and look for an answer, but I don t have one.
Never have I liked not knowing the answers, but this time I really don t know. I don t know how
to react or even what to think. All that sits in my mind is that we are going to die. Then it hits
me. El, give me two bobby pins, I say desperately as my hands hold out shakily waiting for the
pins. She looks at me in confusion, but she eventually hands them over. I walk over to the door by
the middle school. I get onto my knees and start to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then I hear it. You all keep going, I am going to check out over here, yells out a very masculine
voice. Footsteps disappear, but I can hear the mans deep breaths. The door opens from our left,
and my body freezes. Myles and El freeze as well. Steps are getting closer to were we are. I start
to cry out of fear. Tears softly stream down my face as I try my best to ignore them and stay
silent. Suddenly El jumps out. Shit shit shit..... she is going to die. My body is shaking as my
girlfriend is about to die. Hey pretty thing, says the man. Why don t you come with me, I
promise I won t hurt you as long as you give me what I want. No, her voice sounds out softly.
What did you say? I said no. Aww... well to bad, I liked you a lot. He aims the gun up towards
her. Then I see Myles grab a water bottle from next to him and throw it. The man gasps in
surprise from something being thrown at him. Next thing I know, Myles runs up, grabs a
weight and hit them man. As soon at the weight makes contact with the man, a gunshot sounds.
The man falls and so does Myles. I panic I get up and run over to them. El runs over to Myles,
and I start to, but I see the man reach for the gun which fell out of his hands. I decide to grab a
different weight and hit the man again, but I don t stop. I bring it down it on him over and over;
the sounds of bones breaking slips past my mind as all I can think is that he killed Myles and he

My Life Is A Major Illness Called Malaria
The stressful time, which I have encountered in my life is a major illness called Malaria. My
body was infected with malaria disease and I suffered with bad health for about three months. In
the third year of my under graduation, I have been attacked with malaria and It affected me allot.
I believe it was the last day of the first semester in my third year of my under graduation. Myself
came out from the college to my room and I was feeling little dull that day. Slowly there was a
slight increase in my body temperature that night and I thought it might be a normal fever. It was a
tough time to sleep that night in spite to the rise in my body temperature and even I have
suffered with body pains that night. I was all alone in my room that night and moreover, I am
staying about 300 kilometres far away from my parents to pursue my undergraduate studies.
That night passed away and the next day In the morning I fell totally sick. There after I cannot
have enough strength to do my work. On that day I did not go to my college and there after i
made a phone call to my relative who lives in the town called Guntur. He arrived to my room in
the evening and took me to the hospital. I was starving from the morning because I couldn t have
enough strength to cook for myself as I was totally ill on that day. The doctor prescribed certain
Laboratory tests and for the mean time as it became evening he told to take some medicines that
might decrease the intensity of my fever.

What Does Light Symbolize In Macbeth
In the play Macbeth by William Shakespeare, an effective technique is the use of symbolism
throughout the text. This technique helped me to understand the important message of; evil over
good and the lust for power. The weather, symbolism of blood and of light vs dark helped me to
understand the main idea of evil. This play discusses the idea that all of us have evil inside of us,
although unlike Macbethmost of us don t choose to act upon such evil, and that committing evil will
always turn out bad for you.
One aspect of symbolism in the play that shows evil doesn t do any good is that of the weather. At
the very beginning of the play when the audience first meets the witches they are discussing the
weather; when shall we three meet again In thunder, lightning, or in rain? With this... Show more

Whenever a murder is done it is at night time so that it is dark. Come seeling night Macbeth
says. He says this dialogue on the evening before he murders Duncan, he feels guilty about the
evil his is about to commit. I think Shakespeare uses this technique of symbolising light vs dark
to show the audience how Macbeth is feeling towards all this evil he is committing. Terrible
deeds are always to be committed in the dark. This is shown by the dialogue stars, hide your
fires; let not light see my black and deep desires . Macbeth doesn t want there to be stars in the
sky because he doesn t want them to shine their light on his evil and murderous thoughts.
Shakespeare purposely uses the darkness to show the audience what Macbeth is about to do. In
the light of the day we feel safe, but in the darkness we fear it because we don t know what is
there that we cannot see. Most of the play is set in the dark which reflects on Macbeth s evil
thoughts and actions throughout the play. The Jacobeans know that Scotland is no longer safe
because it falls into and endless darkness with all Macbeths evil

Leaving The Yellow House By Saul Bellow
Saul Bellow wrote many novels; one of his novels Leaving the Yellow House is about an elder
woman who lives in a yellow house and is incapable to take care of herself. Her neighbors tell her
that they will help her only in return for her house. The Rolfe s are the only neighbors that really
care about Hattie and do not want her house in return. Leaving the Yellow House was one of Saul
Bellows most known short story. When Bellow was young he was hospitalized for a while. The
time he spent in the hospital was where his interest in literature grew. When he was in school his
friends influenced him to write. He became so interested in writing that he dropped out of college

Technolgy and American Societies Today
Technology has taken an overwhelming presence within American societies today. Careers,
education, volunteering, advertising and now even fundraising can be done solely from one s
computer. With this relatively new trend, companies must take advantage of the time clients spend
online to further their own organizations. There are three simple techniques that companies should
utilize and implement to profit from the new technological era.
The process of affiliate marketing is extremely important for publicity and fundraising. This is
when an organization directs traffic from its own website to a different organization s website in
order to promote a product, good or service of that organization s with the promise of receiving a
percentage of the proceeds in return. Companies can profit significantly from this process if used
correctly and partnered with the right organizations. Many popular companies participate in
affiliate marketing, such as Amazon, local grocery stores, sporting goods stores, etc. It does not cost
anything to establish an affiliate marketing relationship with a company, but can have exponential
rewards.
The concept of online donating and memberships is an excellent way companies can benefit from
the Web. Asking face to face for money can make both the asker and the potential giver
uncomfortable, and with the wrong atmosphere laid, it can cost an organization a substantial
donation. The opportunity to donate online provides clients with a private,

Intelligence By Robert Sternbergs Triarchic Theory Of...
This essay is going to be focused on intelligence. A persons intelligence is described as a person s
ability to learn and remember information, to recognise concepts and their relations, and to apply
the information to their own behaviour in an adaptive way (Neisser et al., 1996). There are a huge
amount of different theories in relation to intelligencebut this essay will pay particular focus to
Robert Sternbergs Triarchic Theory of intelligence. He defines intelligence as
1) the ability to achieve one s goals in life, given one s sociocultural context; 2) by capitalizing on
strengths and correcting or compensating for weaknesses; 3) in order to adapt to, shape, and select
environments; and, 4) through a combination of analytical, creative, and practical abilities
(Sternberg, 2005, p.189).
Therefore this means that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first form is analytic intelligence. This is whereby people are able to think and evaluate
information. (Jacobson, Mulick, Rojahn, 2007). It involves familiar circumstances where abstract
thinking is applied. (Sternberg, 2005).The second is creative intelligence. This is demonstrated by
how people deal with unfamiliar situations and experiences. Practical intelligence is the way in
which people adapt to their surroundings in a positive way. (Jacobson, Mulick, Rojahn, 2007).
Sterbergs theory implies that intelligence is demonstrated by a person s ability to deal with normal
tasks and everyday situations. (Jacobson et al., 2007). Sternberg believed that tests and exams often
ignored the creative and practical intelligence. For the theory as a

Luis Valdez s Play, Los Vendidos Essay
In his play, Los Vendidos, Luis Valdez addresses, through humor and stereotypes, the issues faced
by Mexicans in America throughout history. Although a White Washed Mexican woman is
supposedly looking for a Mexican, what she is actually looking for is an American with darker
skin. The key word here is American, as she is looking for someone who has denied his or her
Mexicanroots and become acculturated to the American wayof life. This woman does not want a
Mexican for any other reason than the fact that he is Mexican, and she has no respect for his
heritage.
The scene opens as a woman who works for the government walks into a shop that sells Mexicans.
She is looking for a Mexican for their administration. In the prologue of the ... Show more content

Vicki Ruiz explored the acculturation of young Mexican Americanwomen, which was similar to
that of young men, in the 1920s and 1930s and states that it ...reveals the blending of the old and
the new, fashioning new expectations, making choices, and learning to live with those choices
(Vargas 271). It is true that they were Mexican Americans, but many did not have strong ties to their

instances accused of being ashamed of the term Mexican. Being native born and raised Americans,
they never felt any sentiment for Mexico....they had never lived there....(Vargas 305). Although this

they should act American. Merton Hill gives a definition of what Americanization is when he states

Substance Abuse Disorder ( Samhsa )
According to the SAMHSA (2010) report on the national survey on drug use and health almost
22.5 million people are reported to be associated with substance abuse disorder (SAMHSA,
2010). This illness was found to be very common in all age groups, both sex, and seniors. There
are several effects on these individuals and their families. Many people who suffer from substance
abuse disorders fail to acknowledge these serious consequences. First of all, no response of pain
relief can be seen with smaller doses of pain medications, as their bodies are used to high levels of
various substances at the same time. Nurses become frustrated when they try to treat and help these
patients with pain. Sometimes it is difficult to think about ethical principles when nurses have to
deal with such patients with pain and suffering.
Research has shown that there are several organizations and active advocates who are working on
pain management problems to face this public health issue. The following establishments involve:
The American Academy of Pain Medicine, Institute of Medicine, and American Pain Society and
many for profit and nonprofit organizations are also working at different level towards pain
management. Most specifically, the IOM has been devoted to studying pain and its consequences
on individuals, the healthcare system, as well as on government (IOM, 2011).
According to the ANA Code for Nurses Provision 1, nurses must treat and respect every patient

The Empty House, By Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
The purpose of this project is to assess whether Sherlock Holmes, the protagonist in Sir Arthur
Conan Doyle s detective stories, has Antisocial Personality Disorder (ASP). Antisocial Personality
Disorder is a personality disorder characterized by impairments in personality functioning, along
with the presence of multiple pathological personality traits. Many aspects of Sherlock Holmes
personality and behavior are indicative of ASP. In order to demonstrate this, I used the Diagnostic
and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) to relate specific ASP criteria to situations and
characterization of Holmes throughout Doyle s works. Specifically, I related DSM criteria to
quotations from Sir Arthur Conan Doyles A Study in Scarlet,... Show more content on

Lastly, the impairments cannot be attributed to the individual s developmental or sociocultural
context, and they cannot be caused by drug use. Due to the extensive nature of these DSM criteria,
however, I used only three aspects of the diagnostic list to assess Holmes. The complete list of
diagnostic criteria for ASP can be found in the Appendix (American Psychiatric Association, 2013).
Throughout many of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle s detective stories, Holmes exhibits an impairment
in empathy. In the DSM, an impairment in empathy is classified as an impairment in
interpersonal functioning. It is defined as a lack of concern for feelings, needs, or suffering of
others; lack of remorse after hurting or mistreating another (American Psychiatric Association,
2013). Essentially, impairment in this area is characterized by a person s general disregard for
others feelings or suffering. In Doyle s first Sherlock Holmes story, A Study in Scarlet , we learn
that Holmes has an impairment in empathy. Stamford, who is describing Holmes to John Watson,
says that Holmes [beats] the subjects in the dissecting room with a stick... to verify how far bruises
may be produced after death (Doyle 1887/1986). Although the subjects that Holmes is mutilating
are corpses, this behavior does show a lack of empathy. Holmes shows an utter disregard for these
corpses who were alive and well, at a point by mutilating them and beating them. Although he does

What I Ve Learned While Student Teaching Essay
What I ve Learned While Student Teaching There are a few revelations that I have learned while
student teaching that I was not aware of beforehand. First, I have learned that having high
expectations for students truly motivates them to work hard and please their teacher. I knew this
approach worked with my own children, but I saw first hand while studentteaching how a
classroom full of students will work to reach the goals you set for them. All it takes is setting goals
that are within their reach, providing them with the steps they need to be successful, and enforcing
their hard work with positive motivation. Second, I had absolutely no idea how many children are
pulled out of a classroom to receive services with the various interventionists and... Show more

Additionally, having an interventionist or therapist push in to your classroom with a small
group of students was an absolute shock. This is extremely interruptive to the class who is
picked to host the push in. The teacher is required to provide space for them to work and make
room for them to bring in an oversized cart full of materials that can barely fit through the aisles
of our desks. Imagine how distracting this is for the students in the classroom to have two
lessons being taught at one time. I still have not figured out why they do not use other spaces in
the school that would be much less disruptive to everyone involved. Next, I have learned that the
teacher does not have much say in the methods he/she decides to use to teach reading or math.
There are people who have been out of the classroom for years who are qualified to make the
decisions for the teacher regardless of the fact that the school received the highest scores in the
district. For example, at Hendrix, the teachers are required to teach ALL math and reading lessons
in small groups. No longer can the teacher decide to teach a whole group lesson or a small group
lesson. That

Compare And Contrast King Poe Vs King
Poe vs King
When thinking of two short stories, The Man in the Black Suit and The Black Cat come to mind.
The narrators of both these stories include suspense and bring about the effects on their minds
throughout both stories. Evidently, there are many similarities and differences between them both.
Between both narrators, they share the same point of view. However, one narratorseems to be
angry while the other seems to be intimidated. The narrators of The Man in the Black Suit and
The Black Cat similarly have first person point of view, however King s key difference of not
being reliable results in suspense for that story.
Both narrators from the story share a similarity of having first person point of view. To clarify,
both narrators go through a hardship that they both tell throughout their story. Gary from The
Man in the Black Suit faces his hardship through seeing that He was wearing a black three piece
suit, and I knew right away that he was not a human being, because his eyes were the orangey
red of flames in a wood stove (King 5). Through this quote, readers can infer by the use of the
narrator s diction that he was intimidated by the man in the black suit. In addition, by the narrator
s choice of I , it meant that the narrator was by himself during this hardship. The fearful tone that
the narrator suggests helps contribute to the point of view used in the quote above. The structure
of the story for the narrator to be lonely throughout his hardship makes the theme (bad things
happen to good people) significant. Not to mention, during the story, the reader develops an
inference that the narrator may not make it out of the situation alive. Comparatively, the narrator
from The Black Cat has the same point of view as the narrator in The Man in the Black Suit. The
husband in The Black Cat seems to believe that he is alone until he meets this cat named Pluto
who genuinely loved him. The narrator faces a hardship when he says ...I knew that it had loved
me, and because I felt it had given me no reason of offence; hung it because I knew that in doing
so I was committing a sin... (Poe 2). Through this quote, readers can infer that the narrator had a
problem mentally and according to the

Correlation Between Interest And Rate Rates
In economics, a puzzle occurs when empirical data does not match the expected outcome that
theory would predict. One such puzzle is the uncovered interest rate parity, also known as UIP. This
specific puzzle is about interest rate differentials and exchange rate fluctuations, and how the
empirical findings do not support the theory behind them. In order to further understand this vast
research has been conducted on this puzzle in order to attempt to explain why it is occurring. The
reason why there is a desire to understand why this is occurring is because one of the foundations
of corporate finance is that no arbitrageopportunities are present, but here we see what appears to
be one. However, let us first explain what theory says should... Show more content on

Now looking at several case studies the first being Adrian W. Throop. In his model, he runs four
regressions where fluctuations in exchange rate between the dollar and other major currencies are
the dependent variables: Trade Weighted US$, Yen/US$, Mark/US$, and Pound/US$. As for the
independent we see the focus on the interest rate change in the domestic and foreign market. He
includes a great deal of other information in how he acquires what he calls the real interest rate,
and thus account for shocks in the market. This is done to test the hypothesis that sticky price
model of exchange rates can explain why this puzzle is occurring with interest rate and exchange
rate of foreign currency. Whereas, the null hypothesis is that sticky price model of exchange rates
cannot explain why the puzzle is occurring. In conclusion, Throop found that although the sticky
model made sense theoretically when put to the test empirically it fell short and was not able to
adequately account for the UIP puzzle. Now looking at Alfred V. Guender and his article on UIP
he also uses a regression to test the UIP puzzle, however, he believes that the conventional test
equation of the UIP hypothesis is plagued by omitted variable bias (Guender, 2014). As such he
hypothesis there is an inverse relationship between the exchange rate change and the lagged interest
rate differential, and he also takes into account variables that are typically omitted, but do have an
impact on the model such

The Causes And Abuse Of The Catholic Church
Catholic religion is one of the oldest religions, highly practiced in the United States. It is a
religion with a set of beliefs such as practicing celibacy among the priests and nuns. Each and
every state in America has several parishes and a bishop that oversees the operations of the
churches in those said regions. For instance, in the State of Phoenix, there is a bishopwith several
priests in every parish handling the operations of the churches. The Catholics follow a set of
beliefs and traditions that mirror the morality in the society. However, these beliefs are being
eroded by the some of the followers in various parts of the world. In fact, the Catholic Churchhas
become a subject of serious allegations of child sexual abuseat the hands of the clergy. Several
cases have occurred globally even the most high profile cases occurring in Europe and America.
Majority of the people ha come forward and reported the incidents of clerical sexual misconducts.
They have done so under investigative reporting talking about years of abuse on the part of the
priests together with cover ups and patterns of secrecy by church officials that aided in allowing
these accused priests in continuing to their ministries in the various parishes and this involved
interaction with mirrors. Canonical, civil, and criminal sanctions have been directed to several
bishops, priests, and even dioceses. However, there are those that have managed to escape the

Analysis Of What You Eat Is Your Business By Radley Balko

government is trying to solve obesity by forbidding junk food in school testing restaurant s menu,
and having specific food options for consumers. By the name of the article What You Eat

Therefore the author Radley Balko argues that it is not the government responsibility, it is each
individual responsibility.

American consumers, our government ought to be working to foster a sense of responsibility in

Balk also points out that if we pay the consequences for our own choices then we would make

choices (469). As Balko also pointed out if the government is paying for my anti cholesterol

I do agree that it is the individual responsibility to make a good choice for a healthy lifestyle.
What I disagree with is that Balko says that the government involvement is the wrong way to fight

The Biases Of The Unconscious Mind
In this philosophical study, an analysis of the biases of the unconscious mind in relation to the mind
of others will be analyzed in the context of a peer reviewed article on the misuse of anti depression
drugs. The analogical argument of Bertrand Russell defines the example of unconscious
associations part of the reason why individuals have a biased view of others, which reflects the
problematic ways in which scientists are limited in their understanding of different behaviors. One
problem is the inability of scientists to understand multiple unconscious motivations of drug use,
which are examined in Weyandt et al s (2016) in the misuse of anti depressant medications in
college students. In this manner, the a clinical study was done on college students, which sought to
examine the motivations for the misuse of anti depressants, which they found to have a negative
impact on enhanced learning processes. Commonly, these drugs were thoughtto help stabilize the
mindof the individual in the hope that it would help students improve academic performance,.,
however, they found many biases in their studies on the motivational use of these drugs:
According to Weyandt et al. (2013) and Benson et al. (2015), other less commonly endorsed
motives include recreational reasons (e.g., getting high ), weight loss, and curiosity, and as many
as 40% of students may engage in misuse for more than one reason (Benson et al., 2015) (Weyandt
et al. 402).
In this manner, the difficulty of

conditions for higher pay. It is important for activist to include the economy of these developing
countries when considering the demolishment of sweatshops. Not only are the employees benefited
with income, their economies gain and grow. Many of developing countries gain economic growth
due to sweatshops. In the article Beyond Sweatshops: Employment, Labor Market Security and

become a key component of growth strategies around the globe ( Heitz p 224 ). A key component to
developing an economy is trade. Additionally, businesses with increasing services brings forth
growth to the economy. Sweatshops allow manufacturing companies to trade goods, as well as
bring forth new businesses. Through developed countries such as the United States developing
countries gain technical knowledge, fundament and tools. Global poverty is known to be decreased
due to sweatshops. It is said that 83 cases of exploiting sweatshop wages reported in sources and

Chemical Kinetcs – the Hydrolysis of Pna Ester
Chemical Kinetcs The hydrolysis of PNA Ester
Introduction: Reaction of a compound with water can result in a splitting, or lysis, of the
compound into two parts. Organic molecules containing a group of atoms called an ester can be
hydrolyzed by water to form a COOH group (carboxylic acid) and an HO group (alcohol) as
follows:
RCOOR + H2O ( RCOOH + HOR
This reaction is spontaneous for almost all esters but can be very slow under typical conditions of
temperature and pressure. The reaction occurs at a much faster rate if there is a significant amount
of base (OH ) in the solution. In this lab experiment, the rate of this reaction will be studied using
an ester called para nitrophenyl acetate (PNA), which produces an alcohol, ... Show more content on

Big Ideas For The Great Gatsby
I think one of the big ideas that the novel deals with is the importance of feelings versus wants
and needs when making a decision, as exemplified by Daisy s struggle to overcome her own
selfish desires and simply love Gatsby for who he is as opposed to his bank account. Many of the
characters have a war with materialism, with Daisy and Tom falling prey to it and characters such
as the narrator becoming disgusted by it. This theme also hints at the complexity of the novel,
because materialism itself was fueled by the lavish spirit of the times, where people who had more
things were subsequently those with a higher social standing and influence, and everyone felt a
pressing need to satisfy their material desires, at the expense of the dreams

An Overview of Modern Philosophies of Education
Overview
Philosophy means love of wisdom. It is made up of two Greek words, philo, meaning love, and
sophos, meaning wisdom. Philosophy helps teachers to reflect on key issues and concepts in
education, usually through such questions as: What is being educated? What is the good life?
What is knowledge? What is the nature of learning? And What is teaching? Philosophers think
about the meaning of things and interpretation of that meaning. Even simple statements, such as
What should be learned? Or What is adolescence? set up raging debates that can have major
implications. For example, what happens if an adolescent commits a serious crime? One
interpretation may hide another. If such a young person is treated as an adult criminal, what ... Show

Plato also believed that the soul is fully formed prior to birth and is perfect and at one with the
Universal Being. The birth process checks this perfection, so education requires bringing latent
ideas (fully formed concepts) to consciousness.
In idealism, the aim of education is to discover and develop each individual s abilities and full
moral excellence in order to better serve society. The curricular emphasis is subject matter of mind:
literature, history, philosophy, and religion. Teaching methods focus on handling ideas through
lecture, discussion, and Socratic dialogue (a method of teaching that uses questioning to help
students discover and clarify knowledge). Introspection, intuition, insight, and whole part logic are
used to bring to consciousness the forms or concepts which are latent in the mind. Character is
developed through imitating examples and heroes.
Pragmatism is the philosophy of considering practical consequences or real effects to be vital
components of meaning and truth. Pragmatism is generally considered to have originated in the
late nineteenth century with Charles Pierce, who first stated the pragmatic maxim. It came to
fruition in the early twentieth century philosophies of William James and John Dewey and, in a
more unorthodox manner, in the works of George Santayana. Other important aspects of
pragmatism include anti Cartesianism, radical empiricism,

One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich
One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn s Faith
Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn is a professed Christian. However, according to some critics, this does not
necessarily make his writings quot;Christian quot; (Schmemann 39). Biblical principles can clearly
be identified in One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich. They can be seen through Solzhenitsyn s
views on the world as a divine creation, the nature of evil, and faith in the future.
The Christian faith is rooted in the belief that God created everything, and that it is good. According
to Christian belief, God has a plan for His creation, and therefore there is no need to be pessimistic.
At first, this Christian view seems an unlikely fit with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Shukhov s attribution of nature to a divine Creator is a fundamental Christian belief (Zamoyska
216).
The nature of evil, from the Christian standpoint, is that all evil comes from man s sin. This
makes evil a very personal force, rather than something abstract. Schmemann describes the
Christian idea of evil as a fall. He states that evil is quot;this fall from on high and the horror,
grief and suffering it evokes quot; (41). Evil, or sin, is controlled by the individual. Each person
has the ability to choose between right and wrong. In many parts of the novel, prisoners must
decide whether or not to help their prison mates. When Shukhov goes to the infirmary, his fellow
prisoners save his rations, so he may eat (Solzhenitsyn 25). Later, Tsezar decides to give Shukhov
the rest of his cigarette instead of giving it to Fetyukov (31). The Russian authorities and guards
have made the decision to carry out the injustices of the prison camp. The freedom of the individual
to choose right from wrong, an important idea in Christianity, is obviously present in this novel.
Finally, Solzhenitsyn s novel expresses one of the most important Christian principles, hope for the
future. In Christianity, since Christ paid the price for the sins of the world, there are no lost causes.
Christians have faith that Christ will return someday and that there will be a heaven. In the same
way, in the midst of the terrible conditions of the prison camp, Shukhov can be pleased at

Copper Essay
Weil 1
Copper is one of the earliest elements known to man. Because of its distinct red color, Copper is
very easily identified. In the ancient times, copper could be found lying in the ground in its
unattached state without interaction to other substances. Copper and its compounds have many
uses in today s society.
Copper has many chemical properties that make it unique. The Atomic number of copper is 29. An
Atomic number is a measure of the amount of protons in the nucleus of an atom. Protons are sub
atomic particles, which have a positive charge. The Atomic mass of copper is 63.546. The Atomic

Copper does not rust and when in water, it turns reddish orange. After prolonged exposure, Copper
develops a coat of green film called patina. This film protects it against further exposure. Also,
rolled Copper has a tensile strength from 50,000 to 70,000 pounds per square inch. Tensile strength
is the maximum strength a material can stand before breaking.
Early uses of the element include jewelry, weapons, and tools. The element was first used
around 9000 b.c.e. and was found in northern Iraq. Copper was first used by Native Americans
around 2500 b.c.e. One of the first skills that the ancient coppersmith must have learned how to
do was shape the metal, possibly by heating. This element was first used to its full potential when
Coppersmiths began to use tin with copper to make an alloy called bronze. An alloy is a mixture
of two or more metals with properties differs from those of the individual metal. The alloy was
first discovered as early as 4000 b.c.e. Bronze was used similar to copper due to the many variety
of tools, weapons, and jewelry that are created from the alloy. It differs from copper in the way that
with tin added, the alloy is a better conductor and easier to shape than the metal alone. Copper was
used as the primary metal of the world to around 3000 b.c.e when society discovered iron. Many
copper compounds are used in today s agricultural, medical, and pest control jobs. Copper Acetate

Swimming Is Not A Natural Act
Most people believe that the most efficient and effective way to lose weight is either by jogging
or running. They think this because running is done on land, involves very hard movements of the
arms and legs, and their heartrates are going at 5 beats per second. People always seem to forget
that a better, easier and less vigorous way to get fit is through swimming. Swimming is moving
your body through a body of water, either a pool or ocean, using your arms and legs, while running
is moving quickly on land with your feet. Swimming is not a natural act but a learned talent.
According to Dr. Howard Wainer, a swimmer and statistician at the Educational Testing Service in
Princeton, N.J., the human bodywas not meant to move quickly through water.
Most people believe that its harder to run than to swim but the fact is that it s harder to swim. In
swimming water acts as the resistance while in running, air is the resistance. Water is a lot thicker
than air which makes it harder to move through. When running, performance peters out as the
distances get longer but in swimming the pace is consistent regardless of the distance.
Swimming has a lot of benefits which most people don t know about. Swimming keeps your
heartrate up without overstressing the body. It builds endurance, muscle strength and
cardiovascular fitness. Swimming also keeps the heart and the lungs healthy. All the muscles are
used while swimming so it s a good all over body workout. Also, according to research done

Characteristics Of Shaping The Colonies
Shaping the Colonies
Within a span of 300 years, Europe found itself bombarded by domestic disputes and expansionist
curiosity. From the initial expedition by Christopher Columbus in 1492 having sparked European
interests in the Americas, a beacon of freedom sparked the minds of iconoclasts who sought the
new land during a period of time marked by religious tyranny, ongoing wars, and the greed for
resources. Colonial America from the sixteenth to seventeenth centuries was shaped by the hunger
for freedom from the English monarchy in terms of worship and self government.
In 1492, Columbus sailed the ocean blue... Indians! Indians! Columbus cried; His heart was filled
with joyful pride. But India the land was not... The primary school song celebrates the Spanish
explorer but detracts from the motive behind the joyful pride. The fifteenth century was the
beginning of the Age of Exploration for the Portuguese, who dominated international trade by the
sixteenth century. The allure of South African gold, slaves, and ivory and the rich spices and gold
of India tempted the Spanish, the English, the French, and the Dutch to compete in the race for
global riches. Christopher Columbus responded to the opportunity after Ferdinand II of Aragon
and Isabella of Castile exiled 200,000 Jews and defeated the last of Muslim forces in Granada to
restore Christianity in Spain during the Spanish Inquisition. With the Spanish monarchy re

More importantly the fingerprints of Burke was found on the bowl of pineapple discovered in the

Analysis Of The Feminine Mystique By Betty Friedan
I agree that Betty Friedan was right to write that the suburban home was a comfortable
concentration camp where women suffered a slow death of mind and spirit for the following
reasons:
First, during this time frame, the normal 50s family would be a hard working father who supported
the household while the mother took care of home

success or failure to some. Either way, more than 2 million copies were sold and she was able to
pass the concept of new feminism.

The Dead By James Joyce Meaning
After reading The Dead by James Joyce, I came to the conclusion that the title of the short story
has a very deep meaning, both literally and figuratively. The reason for which I believe the title
has a literal meaning is that the author briefly mentions about some secondary characters, who
in one way or another, are part of the story but are no longer alive. Some of these characters are
the following: Pat Morkan (Brother of Kate and Julia), Ellen Morkan Conroy (Mother of
Gabriel), T.J Conroy (Member of the Dublin Port and Docks Board, and Father of Gabriel), Patrick
Morkan (Owner of a starch mill, and Father of Kate and Julia), and, especially, Michael Furey

Society s Influence
Fashion and the film industry are two huge influences on societal expectations that women display
their bodies sexually.
The sexual revolution liberated women from the
Victorian of modesty but also demanded a commitment to diet and beauty.
Doing Gender
Many feminist theorists believe that an individual is labeled at birth as a member of a sex
category, either male of female, and from that point on, is held to acting accordingly.
Gender is not something that one has or something that one is; rather, it is something that one does.
Gender as Social Structure
Risman does not accept the criteria of nature as a way to distinguish behavior expectations.
She is especially upset by the field of sociobiology.
Gender as Social Structure
By assigning people to one or two categoriesmale or female society has created difference between
them.
Risman feels that genders strongest influence is found at the interactional level, and therein lies the
deepest liability for the continuation of inequality in American family life
Relevancy
Feminism can be defined as a social movement and an ideology in support of the idea that a larger
share of scarce resources should be allocated to women. Feminist believe that women should enjoy
the same rights in society as men and that should share equity in society s opportunities.

Roger Sherman is someone that you may say is the forgotten founding father, so let s change that.
Roger Sherman was a very influential politician and lawyer, being admired by some of greatest and

Roger Sherman was born in Newton, Massachusetts on April 19, 1721. When Sherman was two, his
family left Newton to go a small town called Stoughton. This town was and still is about 21 miles

jobs. At the age of twenty four, after he was in a partnership with his brother, he became the
county surveyor of Litchfield County. In 1754, he became an attorney and was admitted to bar. If
you are admitted to bar, that means that you are given permission to practice law in a certain court

Monsanto Vs Us
The differences found in the social report between the two companies could be explained by the
different views between the US and EU concerning to GOM According to Library of Congress
(n.d) compared to other countries, regulation of GMOs in the US is relatively favourable to their
development. GMOs are an economically important component of the biotechnology industry,
which now plays a significant role in the US economy. For example, the US is the world s leading
producer of genetically modified crops. This explains, why Monsanto Company makes more
emphasis on improving their biotechnology and teach it to future generations, while EU establishes
a strict monitoring of GM products for marketing in regard to the requirement of mandatory

Cultural Pluralism Sociology
Robert E. Park was a huge contributor in establishing sociology in the United States in the 1920s
and 1930s. His theory of assimilation was analyzing a social process and social interaction. Park
argued that assimilation is inevitable in a democratic and industrial society (Healey, 2017, 50). Park
strongly believed that when the American society begins to modernize, ethnic and racegroups would
lose importance. This theory was proven to be true in the European immigrant groups across the
20th century. Due to industrialization, the nature of work in America evolved and changed and
created opportunities for upward mobility for white ethnic groups (Healey, 2017, 81). A form of
upward mobility was resulted in the changes in the structure of the economy and labor market. This
was called structural mobility. The descendants of European immigrants became upwardly mobile
not only because of their individual ambitions and efforts but also because of the changing location
or jobs and the progressively greater opportunities for education available for them (Healey, 2017,
81).
Pluralism can be distinguished by two different types: cultural and structural. Cultural pluralism
exists when groups have not acculturated and each maintains its own identity. The groups might
speak different languages, practice different religions, and have different value systems (Healey,
2017, 55). The Amish are a perfect representation of a cultural pluralism. They are separated from
the dominant culture

My Paper On Cultural Identity
My paper was based on the first topic about how someone s life history can tell you about their
cultural identity. The person I interviewed was a second generation 32 year old immigrant from
Mexico. She is a very kind person, with such an adventurous personality. My plan was to ask
several questions about her life, as well as what she has faced. This is so I can learn more from her
and her culture. I asked a couple of questions about her life and practices to figure out how family
and changes helped her adapt to what culture she identifies with growing up. My first heading will
consist of her childhood growing up, the cultureshe grew up with and how her family plays the
important part of her culture. My second will consist on her adult changes and her identityshe has
formed. I will then explain how her experiences have helped shaped her through her life and what
she talks about during the interview as well as any other stories she would like to contribute.
To begin with, she was born in Tijuana, Mexico. She was homeschooled after she finished middle
school because her parents believed it to be better for her to remain home to teach her how they see
fit. Her connection with her parents was not that good, but they still bonded during holidays and
cultural traditions. She identifies with the American culture more than a Mexican culture, despite
her mother being Mexican; she did not live a Mexican lifestyle or celebrated much Mexican
holidays growing up. I thought this was

Unemployment And Its Effects On Society
Problem Statement Unemployment is a very important problem that it is not only an economic
issue, but it is related to the social and political issues. Increasing the level of unemployment will
decrease the level of Keynes effective demand that is going to increase the investors uncertainty and
less investments will take place. As a result, the economy as a whole will move from recession to
depression and the unemployment is dramatically increasing. On the other hand, unemployment has
a direct impact on society in a variety of negative ways. A lot of studies found that the level of
crimes and drug users is high among unemployment citizens. The unemployed may consider crime
as an alternative path to earn money. Finally, the high level of unemployment, in most cases, could
lead to instability in the political system due to protest against the existing political system. In
conclusion, unemployment is a complex issue that needs a lot of work to solve it. The full
employment economic society is a precondition behind economic stabilization and prosperity. This
dissertation takes the position that relying on the private sector to solve the problem of
unemployment is historically not possible. Therefore, the government intervention towards solving
the problem of unemployment is necessary. The government s responsibility is filling the gap of
unemployment by investing in projects that are usually not handled by the private sector due to

The Presentation of Willy Loman in Death of a Salesman by...
The Presentation of Willy Loman in Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller
Willy Loman is presented as both a tragic hero and an unconscious victim in Death of a Salesman .
Death of a Salesman is very much based upon the American Dream, and whether we are slaves or
conquerors of this dream. This is an idea that the playwright Arthur Miller has very passionately
pursued both through Willy s own eyes, and through his interaction with the different characters in
the play.
Firstly, the definitions of a hero and a victim very much influence the way that Willy is viewed by
the audience. Miller has not used the play to suggest that Willy Loman is an ordinary hero, but
more a tragic hero. A tragic hero,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the contrary, we are not immediately introduced to this delusional, flaky character. At the
beginning of scene one, we see the more assertive side of Willy as he discusses business
possibilities with his wife Willy. Miller balances out the audience s perception of Willy towards
the end of the act where the more vulnerable side of Willy is illustrated, with the use of his
behaviour and the response of others to his attitude. An example of this would be Linda diligently
agreeing with Willy s strange statements.
One of Willy s traits which qualify him as a hero is his eternal sacrifice, and the way that he
throws everything into the balance in order to secure his rightful place in society, and to live the
American Dream. These sacrifices are perfectly illustrated by the long distance that Willy travels

The Pl Analysis Of The Sicn Structure Of P. C. S. Thin Films
Although the idea of luminescent SiCN structure was initiated in a previous master project where
the ICPCVD system was employed, the parameters to fabricate luminescent SiCN thin films have
not been established by the time of starting this thesis. Therefore, first, it was required to calibrate
the deposition parameters to find the composition of the SiCN films exhibited luminescent. This
involves a significant number of film depositions, the system maintained and troubleshooting of the
plasma assisted ultra high vacuum deposition systems as well as some multitude characterization
techniques. The results of this work have been accepted to publish in Thin Solid Films journal (#4)

Essay about I am Vietnamese, I am American
I am Vietnamese, I am American
Durian fruit. When people ask me how I feel about my Vietnamese culture, the first thing that
comes to mind is durian fruit. Unlike the strawberries or cherries found at Safeway, durian fruit at
first glance does not even look edible. The entire fruit resembles a dirty old football, except that
durian weighs nearly three pounds. One inch spikes and a tough brown outer peel cover the fruit,
giving it an intimidating look. Inside, yellow, kidney shaped pieces line the peel like orange slices.
As a child, I hated durian. I refused to even taste it. Later on, when I was older, my mother bribed
me with two dollars to try the meaty flesh. I fell in love with the fruit instantly. Its heavenly aroma

I dreamed of living in a big house like his, with nice new furniture. I wanted my parents to be just
like his caring, loving, and smiling all the time. Richie s parents always seemed to be home.
Never once did Richie come home to an empty house. He always joyfully greeted his mother after
school by tossing his books on the couch, running over to give her a hug, and saying, Mother, dear,
I am home. If I could not have all of this, I decided, I would settle for merely hanging out with the
white, American crowd. After all, Richie Cunningham hung out with white guys at Al s Cafe. To be
like Richie Cunningham, I concluded, was to be American.
Sometimes, after watching Happy Days, I would pull a chair into the cramped little bathroom in
our apartment and look at myself in the cracked mirror above the rusty sink. I always felt sad. In
the cracked reflection, I saw a small face with no blue eyes, no red hair, and no red freckles. I
wondered if my skin would ever fade to the nicer shade of white. I even tried to imitate Richie s
clean, accent free voice and realized that I could not get rid of the Vietnamese influence on my
English. As the years passed, I still lugged that same chair into the same decrepit bathroom,
realizing more and more every year that my dreams of gaining Richie s stature would never come
true.
I looked to my Vietnamese parents to see if they shared any characteristics with Richie Cunningham

The Killer Cats Are Winning Analysis
Cats, are a common household in America and are known to outnumber dogs as pets. Natalie
Angier talks about this in her article The Killer Cats Are Winning! I think cats should be allowed
to be outdoors. Cats are playful animals, they are great pets, and I own one.
Natalie Angier, discusses that we spend a lot of money on cats; yet cats are wild at heart. Peter P.
Marra and Chris Santella authors of Cat Wars, view cats as cuddly killers. Cats are viewed as
invasive species as a contamination to the environment. Outdoor cats are a threat to wildlife as
predators. Also cats are a danger to human health from different types of illnesses. The Trap Neuter
Return (TNR), view cats as human alternative to euthanizing strays.

The man behind this was, David Lyall in 1894 he decided to bring along his female cat to the
island. Lyall was an amateur naturalist studying the biological bounty. Wasn t this guy smart
enough not to take the cat along? On the island there was flightless songbirds but they went extinct
because of the cats. The flightless songbird would have not been extinct today if David would
have not gone with the cat. Plus, those birds cannot fly so obviously they were going to die.
As this article continues to be bias. A research in 2015, showed proof that cat killed many animals.
But when asked by cat owners 98 percent did not car. Also they did not want the cats inside all of
the time. Plus, the research showed 60 percent did not think their cats were doing harm to the
environment. This is proving that people do not see harm from cats whether they are outside or to
the environment.
I do not agree with this article because the entire thing is bias towards cats. There are more cat pets
over dogs. Cats should have the freedom to be outdoors, not get blamed for the destruction of the
environment and more studies should be done on how cats are worthy rather than the immoral

Drug Experiment
A.
Drug A: After the cells are exposed to drug A, an increase in the amount of cyclic AMP is seen
on the diagram. Since A increased the amount of cAMP above the basal level, A is an agonist. In
this particular experiment, we do not see an agonist that leads to a higher increase in activity; we
can thus assume that A is a full agonist.
Drug B: When the cells were exposed to drug B at two different concentrations (10uM and 10
ВµM), no change in activity was noticed and it was equal to basal activity. This clearly signals
that B is an antagonist. Then we examine the effect of drug B when used in combination with drug
A. The amount of cyclic AMP has decreased as the concentration of drug B increased from 10 uM
to 10 ВµM while the concentration ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, drug D in combination with drug A does produce a lower activity than drug A alone,
but this change is not concentration dependent (higher concentration of B does not lead to a
decrease in activity). One way to explain this decrease is that drug D is a partial agonist. Partial
agonists act as competitive antagonists in the presence of a full agonist (drug A in our case),
depressing its ability to achieve the maximum possible effect.
Alternatively, drug D could indeed be a competitive antagonist; we know that the parallel shift
depends only on the Ka, the dissociation constant for an antagonist and [A], the concentration of the
antagonist. The fact that the activity readings are equal at two different concentrations of Drug D
(and thus no shift in the effect curve) could thus be explained by a very large dissociation constant.
Mathematically, this scenario would lead to a ratio of [A] to Ka being close to zero for both drug D
concentrations, eliminating the shift in effect curve and showing the same activity for both
concentrations.
Drug E: The data shows the decrease in basal signaling when the cells are exposed to drug E.
Thus, we could assume that drug E is a inverse agonist. However, there is an alternative scenario
where drug E is interfering with an endogenous agonist and leads to a decrease in background
activity. (a)
From the analysis above, we concluded that drugs B and C are competitive antagonists. Although to

Poseidoon s Accomplishments
Strong, courageous, protective, exuberant, mighty. All words used to describe the god of the
sea. With a strike to the ground by his magnificent trident, the earth trembles. Described
sometimes as Zeus second in command, it would only make sense for the ruler of 75% of the
earth to take over as president of Mount Olympus. Poseidon s qualifications are endless.
Commander of navigation over water, protector of sailors and worshipped as a god of fertility, He
is the child of Rhea and Cronus, as well as the brother of Zeus, Hades, Hermia, Demeter and Hera.
And Cerberus, who protects the gates of the underworld, would easily be the most fitting vice
president. With Poseidon and Cerberus in command, Olympus would be in a more stable condition

Business Risk
A risky business
Dodie: We are all here now. As you know that Zelal Sulen is our new boss now. After she took up
the official post, she found that Hi Style is out of touch with its target consumers and is losing
direction. As the member of manager consultants, for this point, today we need to think out at least
two options to advise her to improve the situation. Am I understood? And think a while... Okay, let s
make a start. Who want to speak first?
Lily: Well, in my opinion, Hi Style could allocate ВЈ10m to new investment in the business. For
example, it could improve distribution and sales through an exclusive agreement with a major
retailer, which could provide a steady marketing channel. Second, to launch new product ranges

So next, we will discuss which one is best and select the second choice. Let s start with Lily s
option. We called the option Organic Growth. What do you think about it ?
Kelly: I think ,Such investment, to some extent, costs too much. And it will also undergo financial
risks. Besides, the exclusive agreement is a single way, it may get press from the major retailer. In
the mean time, not all brand development consultants can make brand image improved.
Lily: yes, it s true. Every coin has two sides.it can t be denied that option 1 will offer a chance to
heighten its competitive strength. Such investment is obvious in Hi Style s fovor as to optimize its
structure. Employing brand development consultants may also accelerate its brand revolution,
improving its former brand or even building a new better one.
Dodie: It sounds reasonably. So, what about the second option, the acquisition of smartwear?
Ann: Unfortunately, the company is in financial crisis. Last month, Smartwear made deliveries
worth 2 million to two new customers in the Far East that have just gone into liquidation and the
stock has disappeared. Worse still, there has been bad press about working condition in overseas
factories. The financial risk is also a big problem.

the field of work clothes. Moreover, Hi Style can make full use of its good sale agents and strong

Almond Trees In Chronicle Of A Death Foretold
Typically, audiences read mystery novels to find out who committed the crime or why the crime
was committed however, in Chronicle of a Death Foretold the audience is aware of both motive
and the killers. In fact, the reader soon discovers that most of the community knows the details
surrounding the crime even before it takes place. The novelfollows the narrator as he interrogates a
Colombian village trying to make meaning behind the lack of intervention surrounding the death of
Santiago Nasar, a death which could have been easily prevented. The final conclusion appears in
the form of deep cultural concerns, which Gabriel GarcГa MГЎrquezemploys as a social
commentary to portray the problems within his own culture. Problems such as the presence... Show

These passages are significant because they represent the means women must achieve to meet
their community s standards. The use of artificial flowers represents women being forced to fake
their virginity as to maintain their honor. This is especially seen towards the end of the novel, as
Angela Vicario is depicted as, still doing machine embroidery with her friends just as before she
had made cloth tulips and paper birds (GarcГa MГЎrquez 93). Even as a rejected wife, Angela
continues to make cloth tulips, therefore demonstrating how desperate the women of this
community are to maintain their honor. As flowers symbolize purity, the fact that the flowers in the
novel are artificial is important as it represents a false representation of purity, thus further
developing the idea of a gilded society. Although the flowers are beautiful and vibrant, they are
artificial, portraying the corrupt internal nature of this Colombian village. Artificial flowers are
implemented as a disguise used to display a false truth. This gives the reader insight into
Colombian culture, suggesting that flowers are used to hide impurities. This translates over to the
theme of the novel by developing the idea of a community that is visually beautiful yet morally
corrupt. GarcГa MГЎrquez uses flowers to employ a social commentary by depicting the

Electrophilic Aromatic Substitution Reaction Lab Report
In this experiment, an electrophilic aromatic substitution reaction was performed through the
addition of a nitro group to bromobenzene. The experiment uses the nitronium ion, NO2+, which
acts as an electrophile to replace a hydrogen atom in the aromatic system of bromobenzene. The
bromine substituent on the benzeneintroduces the possibility of isomers from the reaction with the
nitronium ion: NO2+ can be positioned in the ortho position (making 1 bromo 2 nitrobenzene), the
meta position (making 1 bromo 3 nitrobenzene), or the para position (making 1 bromo 4
nitrobenzene). There is also a chance that poly nitration can occur to produce dinitrobenzene. Since
nitro groups are deactivators, it requires high temperatures to add another nitro group to the
benzene ring. To prevent this poly substitution from occurring, it is important to control the rate of
the reaction by monitoring the temperature during the reaction (the temperature should not exceed
60oC). By controlling the temperature, there is insufficient... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Nitric acid, HNO3, does not act as a strong enough electrophile on its own. It needs the assistance
of sulfuric acid, H2SO4. Sulfuric acid, a strong acid, protonates the oxygen that is part of the
hydroxy group on nitric acid to make it a good leaving group. The leaving group (water) departs
from the molecule, leaving the nitronium ion. The nitronium ion is a stronger electrophile than
nitric acid and can nitrate bromobenzene. Bromobenzene was added to the mixture of sulfuric acid
and nitric acid dropwise through a water cooled condenser to prevent the reaction mixture from
overheating. Overheating of the reaction mixture could lead to poly substitution. To prevent
overheating, the temperature of the mixture was maintained to be under 55oC. The acid mixture
was swirled to make sure that bromobenzene was being dissolved and to prevent the possibility of

The King s Theory Of Moral Development
Lee Lebensbaum Psychology 05/25/2016 The King Says This: An Analysis of the Self Through
Various Psychological Theories It is not easy being born a king. From the days of my humble
youth to the present, my path to royal prestige has not been a clear path. The trials and
tribulations I have suffered were only to develop my character. So, I say this: Am I the number
one contender for valedictorian? No, I am not. Am I going off to Harvard to become a lawyer?
No I am not. But the one thing that I am is something you jabronies will never be. Regardless
after every failing grade, regardless after every tragic event, after every sickness, I still stand before
you today as the People s... King.п»ї And I think you would agree. Here is my story. My life
closely mimics how Kohlberg described in his theory of moral development. From the first stage
of his theory of moral development, I recall following orders to the letter. The punishment and
threat thereof were terrifying. Detention, suspension, expulsion were strong deterrents. Raised by
very strict parents, I listened and obeyed every command. School was the priority, and getting
good grades was the most important thing to them. Therefore, it was the most important thing to
me. But as I grew, I began to see conflict in what my parents saw was right and what the teachers
said was right. This lead me to stage two of Kohlberg s theory of moral development that different
people will have different opinions on what is right. I had to

A Scrutiny of Othello s Character as a Tragic Hero
In Othello, the Moor of Venice, the titular character, Othello, is the protagonist and subject to
scrutiny as to whether or not he is a tragic hero in the conventional Aristotelian definition of the
term. Aristotle believed a tragedy served to exercise the mature citizen s moral sensibilities
(Ferrari, 1999, p. 181). There are several different components of Aristotle s definition of a tragic
hero, which essentially serve as a set of criteria to determine whether or not Othellotruly is a tragic
hero and, by extension, determine whether or not this play is a conventional Aristotelian tragedy. A
thorough analysis of Aristotle s definition of the term when applied to Othello, however, reveals
that his characterization is not congruent with that of a tragic hero since he displays a number of
characteristics that are ill befitting of such figures which means this play is not an Aristotelian
tragedy. One of the primary facets of the definition of a tragic hero is that he or she is not an
ordinary person, but rather an extraordinary one due, in no small part, to his or her noble birth.
As such, tragedies depict good men (Reeves, 1952, p.172). Othello, however, does not hail from
such a noble lineage, which the reader knows due to the fact that he is a Moor employed in the
Venetian military. Although Othello is a fairly high ranking general in this army, he does not
descend from a noble birth and earned his ranking from sheer hard work and through many trials in
service. The

We Do Not Have To Be Well-Known To Mark The World
Someone dies every second of the day and in that second, their world dies with them. Making
your mark on this world can happen in different ways. Everyday we talk to someone and don t
take under consideration that we can either make their day better or make it worse. With this
being said, I believe that we do not have to be well known to mark the world. Someone who is in
our life right now considers us their world. The day that I die, I hope people will be talking about
the way that I have impacted their life.
I have dreamed of making the world a better place and I can. After high school, I am planning to
go into medical school and help others who are in need. Each and every one of us has the ability to
help others the only difference of the ones that do and the ones that don t, is that some people take
action instead of just saying that you will. Doctors and nurses don t always have their way and I
understand that, they just add a little more effort than others. Although I have not yet made up my
mind in what specific line of action I want to do in a hospital, that does not mean that I am not
going to become the best that I am in my specialty. I will help patients even after every other doctor

Some people think that they will be judged if they do, and they are right they will be judged but
yet we are judged every day for things that don t matter so why should we back down from
something that we believe in? It takes a lot of courage to stand up to people that may have more
power than a regular individual but many people have a lot of the same thoughts and if one person
stands up for something then maybe other people will too. Their were individuals that have
boycotted and stood up for what they thought was right and although the people they were fighting
against was more powerful then they were, they won because they stood together and that is the

Andy Warhola
Andrew Warhola, or Andy Warhol as he later became known, was born on August 6, 1928 in
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In 1936, at the age of 8, he contracted an A beta haemolytic streptococcal
infection, and subsequently developed the neurological disorder Sydenham s chorea, which is also
known as St. Vitus Dance. This neurological disorder, which is characterized by involuntary and
uncoordinated movements of the face, hands and feet, caused him to be bedridden. It was during
this time that young Andy Warholwas taught to draw by his mother, who possessed an impressive
artistic ability. He also sought solace from his disorder in comic books and fashion magazines,

Following market research that was conducted in 2005, analysts discovered that there was no
consumer trend in purchases. After deeper research, using the growing field of neuromarketing,
they discovered that this lack of trend was caused by the uniformity in label design across all
flavors offered by the company, as the consumers were not able to differentiate between the thirty
two flavors offered. The absence of a trend made it increasingly difficult for the company to decide
what the most popular flavor. Is it tomato soup, the classic chicken noodle, or perhaps cream of
mushroom? Analysts were still not able to detect a trend in purchases, and because of this, the
Campbell Soup Company made the decision to redesign the cans. This redesign, which was
released in 2010, included switching the iconic red top to the bottom of the can, removing the
spoon from the soup, adding steam, and overall modernizing the can s label design. In 2012, in
honor of the fiftieth anniversary of Andy Warhol s Campbell s Soup Cans, the Campbell Soup
Company released limited edition tomato soup cans, in a series of five, that featured the original
label and bright colors that were characteristic of Warhol s personal, pop art style. This limited
edition product, sold at seventy five cents a can, illustrates the iconography of the Campbell s can,
as the company acknowledges the significance of Warhol s artwork and the impact his style made

  • 2. My Heart Is Beating So Fast Dahlia My heart is beating so fast. I look around at both of their terrified faces. We are going to die. All of us are going to die; we are going to die. I haven t even lived yet. Life has barely begun, and it was going to end. They both turn to me and look for an answer, but I don t have one. Never have I liked not knowing the answers, but this time I really don t know. I don t know how to react or even what to think. All that sits in my mind is that we are going to die. Then it hits me. El, give me two bobby pins, I say desperately as my hands hold out shakily waiting for the pins. She looks at me in confusion, but she eventually hands them over. I walk over to the door by the middle school. I get onto my knees and start to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Then I hear it. Suddenly El jumps out. Shit shit shit..... she is going to die. My body is shaking as my girlfriend is about to die. Hey pretty thing, says the man. Why don t you come with me, I promise I won t hurt you as long as you give me what I want. No, her voice sounds out softly. What did you say? I said no. Aww... well to bad, I liked you a lot. He aims the gun up towards her. Then I see Myles grab a water bottle from next to him and throw it. The man gasps in surprise from something being thrown at him. Next thing I know, Myles runs up, grabs a weight and hit them man. As soon at the weight makes contact with the man, a gunshot sounds. The man falls and so does Myles. I panic I get up and run over to them. El runs over to Myles, and I start to, but I see the man reach for the gun which fell out of his hands. I decide to grab a different weight and hit the man again, but I don t stop. I bring it down it on him over and over; the sounds of bones breaking slips past my mind as all I can think is that he killed Myles and he was going to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

My body was infected with malaria disease and I suffered with bad health for about three months. In the third year of my under graduation, I have been attacked with malaria and It affected me allot. I believe it was the last day of the first semester in my third year of my under graduation. Myself came out from the college to my room and I was feeling little dull that day. Slowly there was a slight increase in my body temperature that night and I thought it might be a normal fever. It was a tough time to sleep that night in spite to the rise in my body temperature and even I have suffered with body pains that night. I was all alone in my room that night and moreover, I am staying about 300 kilometres far away from my parents to pursue my undergraduate studies. That night passed away and the next day In the morning I fell totally sick. There after I cannot have enough strength to do my work. On that day I did not go to my college and there after i made a phone call to my relative who lives in the town called Guntur. He arrived to my room in the evening and took me to the hospital. I was starving from the morning because I couldn t have enough strength to cook for myself as I was totally ill on that day. • 4. What Does Light Symbolize In Macbeth In the play Macbeth by William Shakespeare, an effective technique is the use of symbolism throughout the text. This technique helped me to understand the important message of; evil over good and the lust for power. The weather, symbolism of blood and of light vs dark helped me to understand the main idea of evil. This play discusses the idea that all of us have evil inside of us, although unlike Macbethmost of us don t choose to act upon such evil, and that committing evil will always turn out bad for you. One aspect of symbolism in the play that shows evil doesn t do any good is that of the weather. At the very beginning of the play when the audience first meets the witches they are discussing the weather; when shall we three meet again In thunder, lightning, or in rain? With this... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Whenever a murder is done it is at night time so that it is dark. Come seeling night Macbeth says. He says this dialogue on the evening before he murders Duncan, he feels guilty about the evil his is about to commit. I think Shakespeare uses this technique of symbolising light vs dark to show the audience how Macbeth is feeling towards all this evil he is committing. Terrible deeds are always to be committed in the dark. This is shown by the dialogue stars, hide your fires; let not light see my black and deep desires . Macbeth doesn t want there to be stars in the sky because he doesn t want them to shine their light on his evil and murderous thoughts. Shakespeare purposely uses the darkness to show the audience what Macbeth is about to do. In the light of the day we feel safe, but in the darkness we fear it because we don t know what is there that we cannot see. Most of the play is set in the dark which reflects on Macbeth s evil thoughts and actions throughout the play. The Jacobeans know that Scotland is no longer safe because it falls into and endless darkness with all Macbeths evil ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Technolgy and American Societies Today Technology has taken an overwhelming presence within American societies today. Careers, education, volunteering, advertising and now even fundraising can be done solely from one s computer. With this relatively new trend, companies must take advantage of the time clients spend online to further their own organizations. There are three simple techniques that companies should utilize and implement to profit from the new technological era. The process of affiliate marketing is extremely important for publicity and fundraising. This is when an organization directs traffic from its own website to a different organization s website in order to promote a product, good or service of that organization s with the promise of receiving a percentage of the proceeds in return. Companies can profit significantly from this process if used correctly and partnered with the right organizations. Many popular companies participate in affiliate marketing, such as Amazon, local grocery stores, sporting goods stores, etc. It does not cost anything to establish an affiliate marketing relationship with a company, but can have exponential rewards. The concept of online donating and memberships is an excellent way companies can benefit from the Web. Asking face to face for money can make both the asker and the potential giver uncomfortable, and with the wrong atmosphere laid, it can cost an organization a substantial donation. The opportunity to donate online provides clients with a private, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Intelligence By Robert Sternbergs Triarchic Theory Of... This essay is going to be focused on intelligence. A persons intelligence is described as a person s ability to learn and remember information, to recognise concepts and their relations, and to apply the information to their own behaviour in an adaptive way (Neisser et al., 1996). There are a huge amount of different theories in relation to intelligencebut this essay will pay particular focus to Robert Sternbergs Triarchic Theory of intelligence. He defines intelligence as 1) the ability to achieve one s goals in life, given one s sociocultural context; 2) by capitalizing on strengths and correcting or compensating for weaknesses; 3) in order to adapt to, shape, and select environments; and, 4) through a combination of analytical, creative, and practical abilities (Sternberg, 2005, p.189). (Jacobson, Mulick, Rojahn, 2007). It involves familiar circumstances where abstract thinking is applied. (Sternberg, 2005).The second is creative intelligence. This is demonstrated by how people deal with unfamiliar situations and experiences. Practical intelligence is the way in which people adapt to their surroundings in a positive way. (Jacobson, Mulick, Rojahn, 2007). Sterbergs theory implies that intelligence is demonstrated by a person s ability to deal with normal tasks and everyday situations. (Jacobson et al., 2007). • 8. Luis Valdez s Play, Los Vendidos Essay In his play, Los Vendidos, Luis Valdez addresses, through humor and stereotypes, the issues faced by Mexicans in America throughout history. Although a White Washed Mexican woman is supposedly looking for a Mexican, what she is actually looking for is an American with darker skin. The key word here is American, as she is looking for someone who has denied his or her Mexicanroots and become acculturated to the American wayof life. This woman does not want a Mexican for any other reason than the fact that he is Mexican, and she has no respect for his heritage. The scene opens as a woman who works for the government walks into a shop that sells Mexicans. She is looking for a Mexican for their administration. In the prologue of the ... Substance Abuse Disorder ( Samhsa ) According to the SAMHSA (2010) report on the national survey on drug use and health almost 22.5 million people are reported to be associated with substance abuse disorder (SAMHSA, 2010). This illness was found to be very common in all age groups, both sex, and seniors. There are several effects on these individuals and their families. Many people who suffer from substance abuse disorders fail to acknowledge these serious consequences. First of all, no response of pain relief can be seen with smaller doses of pain medications, as their bodies are used to high levels of various substances at the same time. Nurses become frustrated when they try to treat and help these patients with pain. Sometimes it is difficult to think about ethical principles when nurses have to deal with such patients with pain and suffering. Research has shown that there are several organizations and active advocates who are working on pain management problems to face this public health issue. The following establishments involve: The American Academy of Pain Medicine, Institute of Medicine, and American Pain Society and many for profit and nonprofit organizations are also working at different level towards pain management. Most specifically, the IOM has been devoted to studying pain and its consequences on individuals, the healthcare system, as well as on government (IOM, 2011). • 10. The Empty House, By Sir Arthur Conan Doyle The purpose of this project is to assess whether Sherlock Holmes, the protagonist in Sir Arthur Conan Doyle s detective stories, has Antisocial Personality Disorder (ASP). Antisocial Personality Disorder is a personality disorder characterized by impairments in personality functioning, along with the presence of multiple pathological personality traits. Many aspects of Sherlock Holmes personality and behavior are indicative of ASP. In order to demonstrate this, I used the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) to relate specific ASP criteria to situations and characterization of Holmes throughout Doyle s works. Specifically, I related DSM criteria to quotations from Sir Arthur Conan Doyles A Study in Scarlet,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Lastly, the impairments cannot be attributed to the individual s developmental or sociocultural context, and they cannot be caused by drug use. Due to the extensive nature of these DSM criteria, however, I used only three aspects of the diagnostic list to assess Holmes. The complete list of diagnostic criteria for ASP can be found in the Appendix (American Psychiatric Association, 2013). Throughout many of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle s detective stories, Holmes exhibits an impairment in empathy. In the DSM, an impairment in empathy is classified as an impairment in interpersonal functioning. It is defined as a lack of concern for feelings, needs, or suffering of others; lack of remorse after hurting or mistreating another (American Psychiatric Association, 2013). Essentially, impairment in this area is characterized by a person s general disregard for others feelings or suffering. In Doyle s first Sherlock Holmes story, A Study in Scarlet , we learn that Holmes has an impairment in empathy. Stamford, who is describing Holmes to John Watson, says that Holmes [beats] the subjects in the dissecting room with a stick... to verify how far bruises may be produced after death (Doyle 1887/1986). Although the subjects that Holmes is mutilating are corpses, this behavior does show a lack of empathy. Holmes shows an utter disregard for these corpses who were alive and well, at a point by mutilating them and beating them. Although he does this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. What I Ve Learned While Student Teaching Essay What I ve Learned While Student Teaching There are a few revelations that I have learned while student teaching that I was not aware of beforehand. First, I have learned that having high expectations for students truly motivates them to work hard and please their teacher. I knew this approach worked with my own children, but I saw first hand while studentteaching how a classroom full of students will work to reach the goals you set for them. All it takes is setting goals that are within their reach, providing them with the steps they need to be successful, and enforcing their hard work with positive motivation. Second, I had absolutely no idea how many children are pulled out of a classroom to receive services with the various interventionists and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Additionally, having an interventionist or therapist push in to your classroom with a small group of students was an absolute shock. This is extremely interruptive to the class who is picked to host the push in. The teacher is required to provide space for them to work and make room for them to bring in an oversized cart full of materials that can barely fit through the aisles of our desks. Imagine how distracting this is for the students in the classroom to have two lessons being taught at one time. I still have not figured out why they do not use other spaces in the school that would be much less disruptive to everyone involved. Next, I have learned that the teacher does not have much say in the methods he/she decides to use to teach reading or math. There are people who have been out of the classroom for years who are qualified to make the decisions for the teacher regardless of the fact that the school received the highest scores in the district. For example, at Hendrix, the teachers are required to teach ALL math and reading lessons in small groups. No longer can the teacher decide to teach a whole group lesson or a small group lesson. • 12. Compare And Contrast King Poe Vs King Poe vs King When thinking of two short stories, The Man in the Black Suit and The Black Cat come to mind. The narrators of both these stories include suspense and bring about the effects on their minds throughout both stories. Evidently, there are many similarities and differences between them both. Between both narrators, they share the same point of view. However, one narratorseems to be angry while the other seems to be intimidated. The narrators of The Man in the Black Suit and The Black Cat similarly have first person point of view, however King s key difference of not being reliable results in suspense for that story. Both narrators from the story share a similarity of having first person point of view. To clarify, both narrators go through a hardship that they both tell throughout their story. Gary from The Man in the Black Suit faces his hardship through seeing that He was wearing a black three piece suit, and I knew right away that he was not a human being, because his eyes were the orangey red of flames in a wood stove (King 5). Through this quote, readers can infer by the use of the narrator s diction that he was intimidated by the man in the black suit. In addition, by the narrator s choice of I , it meant that the narrator was by himself during this hardship. The fearful tone that the narrator suggests helps contribute to the point of view used in the quote above. The structure of the story for the narrator to be lonely throughout his hardship makes the theme (bad things happen to good people) significant. Not to mention, during the story, the reader develops an inference that the narrator may not make it out of the situation alive. Comparatively, the narrator from The Black Cat has the same point of view as the narrator in The Man in the Black Suit. The husband in The Black Cat seems to believe that he is alone until he meets this cat named Pluto who genuinely loved him. The narrator faces a hardship when he says ...I knew that it had loved me, and because I felt it had given me no reason of offence; hung it because I knew that in doing so I was committing a sin... (Poe 2). Through this quote, readers can infer that the narrator had a problem mentally and according to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Correlation Between Interest And Rate Rates In economics, a puzzle occurs when empirical data does not match the expected outcome that theory would predict. One such puzzle is the uncovered interest rate parity, also known as UIP. This specific puzzle is about interest rate differentials and exchange rate fluctuations, and how the empirical findings do not support the theory behind them. In order to further understand this vast research has been conducted on this puzzle in order to attempt to explain why it is occurring. The reason why there is a desire to understand why this is occurring is because one of the foundations of corporate finance is that no arbitrageopportunities are present, but here we see what appears to be one. However, let us first explain what theory says should... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Now looking at several case studies the first being Adrian W. Throop. In his model, he runs four regressions where fluctuations in exchange rate between the dollar and other major currencies are the dependent variables: Trade Weighted US$, Yen/US$, Mark/US$, and Pound/US$. As for the independent we see the focus on the interest rate change in the domestic and foreign market. He includes a great deal of other information in how he acquires what he calls the real interest rate, and thus account for shocks in the market. This is done to test the hypothesis that sticky price model of exchange rates can explain why this puzzle is occurring with interest rate and exchange rate of foreign currency. Whereas, the null hypothesis is that sticky price model of exchange rates cannot explain why the puzzle is occurring. In conclusion, Throop found that although the sticky model made sense theoretically when put to the test empirically it fell short and was not able to adequately account for the UIP puzzle. Now looking at Alfred V. Guender and his article on UIP he also uses a regression to test the UIP puzzle, however, he believes that the conventional test equation of the UIP hypothesis is plagued by omitted variable bias (Guender, 2014). As such he hypothesis there is an inverse relationship between the exchange rate change and the lagged interest rate differential, and he also takes into account variables that are typically omitted, but do have an impact on the model such ... It is a religion with a set of beliefs such as practicing celibacy among the priests and nuns. Each and every state in America has several parishes and a bishop that oversees the operations of the churches in those said regions. For instance, in the State of Phoenix, there is a bishopwith several priests in every parish handling the operations of the churches. The Catholics follow a set of beliefs and traditions that mirror the morality in the society. However, these beliefs are being eroded by the some of the followers in various parts of the world. In fact, the Catholic Churchhas become a subject of serious allegations of child sexual abuseat the hands of the clergy. Several cases have occurred globally even the most high profile cases occurring in Europe and America. Majority of the people ha come forward and reported the incidents of clerical sexual misconducts. They have done so under investigative reporting talking about years of abuse on the part of the priests together with cover ups and patterns of secrecy by church officials that aided in allowing these accused priests in continuing to their ministries in the various parishes and this involved interaction with mirrors. The Biases Of The Unconscious Mind In this philosophical study, an analysis of the biases of the unconscious mind in relation to the mind of others will be analyzed in the context of a peer reviewed article on the misuse of anti depression drugs. The analogical argument of Bertrand Russell defines the example of unconscious associations part of the reason why individuals have a biased view of others, which reflects the problematic ways in which scientists are limited in their understanding of different behaviors. One problem is the inability of scientists to understand multiple unconscious motivations of drug use, which are examined in Weyandt et al s (2016) in the misuse of anti depressant medications in college students. In this manner, the a clinical study was done on college students, which sought to examine the motivations for the misuse of anti depressants, which they found to have a negative impact on enhanced learning processes. Commonly, these drugs were thoughtto help stabilize the mindof the individual in the hope that it would help students improve academic performance,., however, they found many biases in their studies on the motivational use of these drugs: According to Weyandt et al. (2013) and Benson et al. (2015), other less commonly endorsed motives include recreational reasons (e.g., getting high ), weight loss, and curiosity, and as many as 40% of students may engage in misuse for more than one reason (Benson et al., 2015) (Weyandt et al. 402). Big Ideas For The Great Gatsby I think one of the big ideas that the novel deals with is the importance of feelings versus wants and needs when making a decision, as exemplified by Daisy s struggle to overcome her own selfish desires and simply love Gatsby for who he is as opposed to his bank account. Many of the characters have a war with materialism, with Daisy and Tom falling prey to it and characters such as the narrator becoming disgusted by it. This theme also hints at the complexity of the novel, because materialism itself was fueled by the lavish spirit of the times, where people who had more things were subsequently those with a higher social standing and influence, and everyone felt a pressing need to satisfy their material desires, at the expense of the dreams ... Philosophy helps teachers to reflect on key issues and concepts in education, usually through such questions as: What is being educated? What is the good life? What is knowledge? What is the nature of learning? And What is teaching? Philosophers think about the meaning of things and interpretation of that meaning. Even simple statements, such as What should be learned? Or What is adolescence? set up raging debates that can have major implications. For example, what happens if an adolescent commits a serious crime? One interpretation may hide another. The curricular emphasis is subject matter of mind: literature, history, philosophy, and religion. However, according to some critics, this does not necessarily make his writings quot;Christian quot; (Schmemann 39). Biblical principles can clearly be identified in One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich. They can be seen through Solzhenitsyn s views on the world as a divine creation, the nature of evil, and faith in the future. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Shukhov s attribution of nature to a divine Creator is a fundamental Christian belief (Zamoyska 216). The nature of evil, from the Christian standpoint, is that all evil comes from man s sin. This makes evil a very personal force, rather than something abstract. Schmemann describes the Christian idea of evil as a fall. He states that evil is quot;this fall from on high and the horror, grief and suffering it evokes quot; (41). Evil, or sin, is controlled by the individual. Each person has the ability to choose between right and wrong. In many parts of the novel, prisoners must decide whether or not to help their prison mates. When Shukhov goes to the infirmary, his fellow prisoners save his rations, so he may eat (Solzhenitsyn 25). Later, Tsezar decides to give Shukhov the rest of his cigarette instead of giving it to Fetyukov (31). The Russian authorities and guards have made the decision to carry out the injustices of the prison camp. The freedom of the individual to choose right from wrong, an important idea in Christianity, is obviously present in this novel. Finally, Solzhenitsyn s novel expresses one of the most important Christian principles, hope for the future. They think this because running is done on land, involves very hard movements of the arms and legs, and their heartrates are going at 5 beats per second. People always seem to forget that a better, easier and less vigorous way to get fit is through swimming. Swimming is moving your body through a body of water, either a pool or ocean, using your arms and legs, while running is moving quickly on land with your feet. Swimming is not a natural act but a learned talent. According to Dr. Howard Wainer, a swimmer and statistician at the Educational Testing Service in Princeton, N.J., the human bodywas not meant to move quickly through water. Most people believe that its harder to run than to swim but the fact is that it s harder to swim. In swimming water acts as the resistance while in running, air is the resistance. Water is a lot thicker than air which makes it harder to move through. When running, performance peters out as the distances get longer but in swimming the pace is consistent regardless of the distance. Swimming has a lot of benefits which most people don t know about. • 35. Cultural Pluralism Sociology Robert E. Park was a huge contributor in establishing sociology in the United States in the 1920s and 1930s. His theory of assimilation was analyzing a social process and social interaction. Park argued that assimilation is inevitable in a democratic and industrial society (Healey, 2017, 50). Park strongly believed that when the American society begins to modernize, ethnic and racegroups would lose importance. This theory was proven to be true in the European immigrant groups across the 20th century. Due to industrialization, the nature of work in America evolved and changed and created opportunities for upward mobility for white ethnic groups (Healey, 2017, 81). A form of upward mobility was resulted in the changes in the structure of the economy and labor market. This was called structural mobility. The descendants of European immigrants became upwardly mobile not only because of their individual ambitions and efforts but also because of the changing location or jobs and the progressively greater opportunities for education available for them (Healey, 2017, 81). Pluralism can be distinguished by two different types: cultural and structural. Cultural pluralism exists when groups have not acculturated and each maintains its own identity. The groups might speak different languages, practice different religions, and have different value systems (Healey, 2017, 55). The Amish are a perfect representation of a cultural pluralism. Finally, the high level of unemployment, in most cases, could lead to instability in the political system due to protest against the existing political system. In conclusion, unemployment is a complex issue that needs a lot of work to solve it. The full employment economic society is a precondition behind economic stabilization and prosperity. This dissertation takes the position that relying on the private sector to solve the problem of unemployment is historically not possible. Therefore, the government intervention towards solving the problem of unemployment is necessary. The government s responsibility is filling the gap of unemployment by investing in projects that are usually not handled by the private sector due to small margin of profit and high level of ... The Presentation of Willy Loman in Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller Willy Loman is presented as both a tragic hero and an unconscious victim in Death of a Salesman . Death of a Salesman is very much based upon the American Dream, and whether we are slaves or conquerors of this dream. This is an idea that the playwright Arthur Miller has very passionately pursued both through Willy s own eyes, and through his interaction with the different characters in the play. Firstly, the definitions of a hero and a victim very much influence the way that Willy is viewed by the audience. Miller has not used the play to suggest that Willy Loman is an ordinary hero, but more a tragic hero. A tragic hero,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On the contrary, we are not immediately introduced to this delusional, flaky character. An example of this would be Linda diligently agreeing with Willy s strange statements. One of Willy s traits which qualify him as a hero is his eternal sacrifice, and the way that he throws everything into the balance in order to secure his rightful place in society, and to live the American Dream. These sacrifices are perfectly illustrated by the long distance that Willy travels in order to sell his stock. Since A increased the amount of cAMP above the basal level, A is an agonist. In this particular experiment, we do not see an agonist that leads to a higher increase in activity; we can thus assume that A is a full agonist. Drug B: When the cells were exposed to drug B at two different concentrations (10uM and 10 ВµM), no change in activity was noticed and it was equal to basal activity. This clearly signals that B is an antagonist. Then we examine the effect of drug B when used in combination with drug A. The amount of cyclic AMP has decreased as the concentration of drug B increased from 10 uM to 10 ВµM while the concentration ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, drug D in combination with drug A does produce a lower activity than drug A alone, but this change is not concentration dependent (higher concentration of B does not lead to a decrease in activity). One way to explain this decrease is that drug D is a partial agonist. Partial agonists act as competitive antagonists in the presence of a full agonist (drug A in our case), depressing its ability to achieve the maximum possible effect. Alternatively, drug D could indeed be a competitive antagonist; we know that the parallel shift depends only on the Ka, the dissociation constant for an antagonist and [A], the concentration of the antagonist. The fact that the activity readings are equal at two different concentrations of Drug D (and thus no shift in the effect curve) could thus be explained by a very large dissociation constant. Mathematically, this scenario would lead to a ratio of [A] to Ka being close to zero for both drug D concentrations, eliminating the shift in effect curve and showing the same activity for both concentrations. Drug E: The data shows the decrease in basal signaling when the cells are exposed to drug E. Thus, we could assume that drug E is a inverse agonist. However, there is an alternative scenario where drug E is interfering with an endogenous agonist and leads to a decrease in background activity. (a) From the analysis above, we concluded that drugs B and C are competitive antagonists. Although to compare ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Electrophilic Aromatic Substitution Reaction Lab Report In this experiment, an electrophilic aromatic substitution reaction was performed through the addition of a nitro group to bromobenzene. The experiment uses the nitronium ion, NO2+, which acts as an electrophile to replace a hydrogen atom in the aromatic system of bromobenzene. The bromine substituent on the benzeneintroduces the possibility of isomers from the reaction with the nitronium ion: NO2+ can be positioned in the ortho position (making 1 bromo 2 nitrobenzene), the meta position (making 1 bromo 3 nitrobenzene), or the para position (making 1 bromo 4 nitrobenzene). There is also a chance that poly nitration can occur to produce dinitrobenzene. Since nitro groups are deactivators, it requires high temperatures to add another nitro group to the benzene ring. To prevent this poly substitution from occurring, it is important to control the rate of the reaction by monitoring the temperature during the reaction (the temperature should not exceed 60oC). A Scrutiny of Othello s Character as a Tragic Hero In Othello, the Moor of Venice, the titular character, Othello, is the protagonist and subject to scrutiny as to whether or not he is a tragic hero in the conventional Aristotelian definition of the term. Aristotle believed a tragedy served to exercise the mature citizen s moral sensibilities (Ferrari, 1999, p. 181). There are several different components of Aristotle s definition of a tragic hero, which essentially serve as a set of criteria to determine whether or not Othellotruly is a tragic hero and, by extension, determine whether or not this play is a conventional Aristotelian tragedy. A thorough analysis of Aristotle s definition of the term when applied to Othello, however, reveals that his characterization is not congruent with that of a tragic hero since he displays a number of characteristics that are ill befitting of such figures which means this play is not an Aristotelian tragedy. One of the primary facets of the definition of a tragic hero is that he or she is not an ordinary person, but rather an extraordinary one due, in no small part, to his or her noble birth. As such, tragedies depict good men (Reeves, 1952, p.172). Othello, however, does not hail from such a noble lineage, which the reader knows due to the fact that he is a Moor employed in the Venetian military. Although Othello is a fairly high ranking general in this army, he does not descend from a noble birth and earned his ranking from sheer hard work and through many trials in service. The ...
