Jesus s Love Through Servant Leadership And Compassion...
Nicholas Smith
Relational Dynamics
Mr. Bauer
December 8, 2015
Jesus Love Jesus expresses love through servant leadership and compassion for others. He heals
others and makes sure to lead by example, and serve his followers. He expresses all types of love
except for eros.
Love by definition is an emotion explored in philosophy, religion, and literature, often as either
romantic love, the fraternal love of others, or the love of God. As I explored the definition by
means of the Internet, books, and articles I noticed the definitions changed quite a bit, but yet had
the same basic understanding. The definition I found in was probably the most simple and most
basic. It refers to love in the whole aspect, which is Godly, fraternal, and romantic. All in which
can only be defined by one word and that it love.
The definitions of love are the same and yet different. Godly, for instance is the love of God, and
your devotion and respect toward him, the creator. In all religion, god carries the same aspect.
Fraternal love is the love of ones family and relatives, even the love of one who is close to you,
in that respect, such as a friend. Then there s romantic love; a love between two people, which I
consider to be both intimate and sexual. Older dictionaries and encyclopedias usually refer to the
romantic aspect of love, as the love in which is experience between man and woman. In today s
society it is said that romantic love can be found regardless of your gender and based on

5 authors whose best selling books were rejected at first ( removed HTML )
Professional criticism isn t always the last say. Sometimes, quality trumps quantity, and something
that seems too obscure to sell simply takes off. Whichever publishing companies rejected these five
novels surely are kicking themselves now.
Watership Down
Richard Adams award winning Watership Down wasn t just rejected once or twice, but reportedly
17 times before finally being picked up by Rex Collings one man publishing firm. Older children

The Harry Potter books were considered too long to be children s books and publishers felt the
books wouldn t keep children s attention spans long enough, yet it was an eight year old daughter
of a Bloomsbury editor that demanded to finish the book, which prompted the publishing agency
to take a chance on J.K. Rowling s fantasy novel. The last four of the series consecutively broke
records for the fastest selling books in history.
The Da Vinci Code
How did Dan Brown learn to cope after being told his new novel, The Da Vinci Code, was so
badly written in one of his first rejection letters? Oh, about 80 million sales later, something tells me
he survived.
The Lord of the Flies
Now a staple of English literature and present in nearly every school in the Americas, William
Golding s The Lord of the Flies was described early on as an absurd and uninteresting fantasy
which was rubbish and dull. It was recently named by TIME magazine as one of the best English

Hematoma Research Paper
Choice A is the best answer. All of the choices are complications of parathyroid surgery. The
development of an expanding hematoma in the pretracheal space has the highest mortality in
postoperative patients if left untreated as it compresses the airway. This complication must be
recognized and treated immediately by opening the wound and evacuating the hematoma. If
untreated, the hematoma may progress rapidly, causing airway obstruction. In contrast, most small
hematomas do not require treatment[1].
Choice B is not the best answer. After a 4 parathyroid gland exploration, calcium levels must be
monitored postoperatively every 12 hours until stabilization. The nadir of serum calcium usually
occurs 24 72 hours postoperatively. Many patients become hypocalcemic, but few become
symptomatic. Treatment is reserved for patients with severe hypocalcemia or in patients who ...

If hypoparathyroidism persists after surgery, oral supplementation with calcium and vitamin D is
required. Calcium citrate or calcium carbonate may be started at 2 tablets, 4 times per day. Some
patients require substantially more. Calcitriol is started at 0.5 mcg twice daily and increased as
required. Patients in whom total parathyroidectomy and auto transplantation is performed, they can
be expected to require only temporary calcium supplementation[1].
Choice D is not the best answer. If a recurrent laryngeal nerve is transected during
parathyroidectomy, immediate repair is indicated. Damage to the external branch of the superior
laryngeal nerve can cause the patient to lose the ability to sing, shout or project their voice. If the
recurrent nerve is unknowingly injured intraoperatively, but dysfunction is suggested because the
patient has developed new hoarseness, expectant management is chosen initially since most patients
recover nerve function over a few weeks to months. Laryngoscopy is indicated to document both
dysfunction and recovery of

William Shakespeare s Othello
ENG 1001: Nothing is funnier than unhappiness, I grant you that. Yes, yes, it s the most comical
thing in the world (Samuel Beckett).
Wilde, Shakespeare and Beckett incorporate two genres in their plays that nursed a strong intrigue
interest (Jones, pg 26) comedy and tragedy. According to Aristotle in his Poetics, tragedyin a play
is an imitation of an action that is serious, complete and of a certain magnitude composed of plot,
character, thought, diction, melody and spectacle, (Myers, pg 118). Conventionally, comedies end
happily in which real world conflicts are resolved. In this essay I am going to demonstrate how
each of the playwrights challenge the traditional ideology of comedy and tragedy.
Comical elements in Othello are limited, however a neoclassical critic stated, there is in this play,
some burlesque, some humour and a ramble of comical wit and therefore, Othello as a whole is
none other than a Bloody Farce (Rymer). To an extent I agree with this comment, however
Othello is evidently more tragic than comical. The distasteful comedy based on racial stereotypes
further delineates a tragic response to the play, Awake/...or else the devil will make a grandsire of
you (I.I.90 91). The misogynous, racist and heretic language is explicitly apparent and distinctive
to show the idea of cross breeding, raising anxieties about reproduction and the classification of

You could almost taste the thick moisture in the air. The taste of the mouthwatering breakfast

the group, even though it was late in the morning. The morning sun rose to surround the
landscape with its warmth. The ever lingering moisture in the air was thick enough you could
feel it. You can clearly see the heavy dew on the grass. The thin layer of moisture covers every

that supports both relational and object oriented functions. SQL:1999 seems like the most
innovative update to the language since its induction, largely because of the adoption of object
oriented related upgrades. COLLECTION TYPES A collection is an ordered group of elements,

3.Varrays this also uses sequential numbering as the key which makes its use ideal when trying to
access its contents in sequence. However, because varrays holds a fixed number of elements, the
method should be used when the amount of elements is predetermined. USER DEFINED DATA
TYPES (UDT) UDTs have numerous ways of implementation. They act much like the typedefs in
the C language and can be used as defining a table, element, or even column type. Distinct user
defined types of power allow the use of name equivalence instead of structural equivalence.
Compatible operations can be achieved by using the CAST operation. Structured user defined types
allow for type inheritance which creates subtypes that inherit attributes and functions of their super
types or references types. There are several reasons why UDT s are useful within an object database
(Burleson Consulting 2014): 1.Encapsulation The existence of a complete entity. This means once
the data definitions, default values, and value constraints are defined uniformity and consistency
are guaranteed. Because of this, once nested UDTs will retain uniformity throughout the database.
2.Reusability Refers to the reuse of the hierarchy of common data structures which we learned in a
previous course saves coding time and insures uniformity. 3.Flexibility This is obvious in the name,
User Defined Data Type, as it allows great flexibility when creating

Psychiatric Treatment Of Psychiatric Harm
This essay is based on the subject of whether or not a duty of care, in terms of psychiatric harm
can be established through an individual or individuals being negligent. The defendant s
negligence is either due to almost injuring the claimant, who then suffers from psychiatric harm,
or killing or badly injuring a victim causing the claimant to suffer from psychiatric harm.
Psychiatric harm can be defined as an assault on a person s senses or mind rather than actual
physical contact. It has to be determined from the scenarios given, whether or not Steve could be
held liable for the recognisable psychiatric harm of the individuals given in the scenario s.

With Daria stating she has nightmares and is unable to return to work, it has to be decided
whether this further contributes to her condition, as for a defendant to be liable, you have to
have a recognised medical condition. If Daria is seen to have a recognisable psychiatric illness
she would have been owed a duty of care by Steve. For this to be fully established, the case of
Caparo states there are three requirements for a duty of care to be owed. These requirements are
foreseeability, proximity and fair, just and reasonable. It can be understood that the actions of
driving in a negligent manner, as stated in the scenario of Tom, that harm to someone on the
road would be reasonably foreseeable. The relationship of proximity in this context relates space
and time. With Daria being there at the exact timing of Tom s death and being only a few inches
from injury herself, it could be proven she satisfies the requirement for this particular part of the
test by way of her shock being caused due to sudden and direct witnessing. This can be further
analysed in the case of McLoughlin v O Brien where the House of Lords allowed the plaintiffs
claim on the basis she had been around at the time of the immediate

Summary of Article
Marriott to Buy Starwood Hotels, Creating World s Largest Hotel Company is an article I retrieved
from The New York Times, which deliberates, how Marriott International acquired Starwood Hotels
and Resorts Worldwide for $12.2 billion. The announcement was a surprise to the industry, because
Hyatt Hotel Corporation, InterContinental Hotels Group and some other Chinese companies were
in the blend to pursue the transaction, Additionally, Marriott is more considered as a dominant
entity in the hotel industry, especially in the upscale sector where Starwood also has a dominant
name.
By Marriott, a strategic review begun several months ago but at first Marriott wasn t fully
interested due to higher list price. However as time went by, Marriott identified some relative shift
in the value of the company, which made it more attractive economically, and Marriott started to
believe that they can create value by merging the two company. The recognition of the value
resulted a deal, which created the world s largest hotel with more than 5,500 hotels.

The BCS National Championship Game Essay
From the first two national champions, Rutgers and Princeton, to last year s debateable Auburn
national championship winning team, college football has always had difficulties deciding
national champions. The BCS National Championship game was thought to give a less prejudice
opinion on which teams play in the championship game than humans did. However, it has
stimulated more controversy in college sports than Cal Stanford The Play. The problem with the
BCS teams is, it chooses two teams that are based on profit, popularity, and record. The BCS is in
need of replacement by a playoff system because with a playoff system college footballteams have
more of an opportunity to show themselves.

Both of those teams finished with one loss on the season and finished first and fourth in the
BCS polls, Utah finished sixth. One third of the standings are also based on coach s polls this
means that one third of the standings are based off of bias people who don t watch every game
each week, thus, making them incapable of deciding who should be ranked and who shouldn t. A
playoff system would eradicate such controversy by allowing teams such as Utah to play in a
playoff.
Surely, the NCAA and Division I A football can join the other 23 intercollegiate sports and devise
a system that determines a true champion, preserves the integrity of the game and levels the
playing field, LaVell Edwards, Former Brigham Young University Coach. This statement was
made to the Senate last summer by the only coach to win a national championship at Brigham
Young. In every other collegiate sport in the United States the champion is decided by a playoff
system. Even the NFL, NBA, MLB, and NHL the champion is decided by a playoff. The excuse
that most of BCS executives is that you cannot have one hundred twenty teams playing in a
playoff. Nevertheless, the FCS formerly Division 1 AA who has one hundred forty teams plays
under a very effective 16 team playoff format. The BCS has infringed themselves among college
football due to the root of all sins, money. In January 10, 2010

Why Tobacco Should Be Banned From The United States Essay
Consumption of Tobacco is a worldwide phenomenon. Nearly every country is planning to raise
more restrictions around the consumption of Tobacco. The awareness about its ill effects is rising
through the corridors of Parliaments of many countries with the help of governmental and non
governmental organizations. There are some internationally recognized organizations like the
World Lung Foundations that are striving hard to reduce the consumption of tobaccoto a bare
minimum. There are numerous reasons that support the argument that tobacco should be
completely banned from the United Sates.
Tobacco consumption is the number one cause of preventable deaths in the United States. In the
United States, cigarette smoking is responsible for more than 480,000 deaths per year. That is
around one in five deaths annually only because of smoking. On an average, the person who
smokes dies ten years earlier than a non smoker. These statistics are not mere numbers but speak
about the gravity of the situation. The United States government should portray a more negative
view on Tabaco to save the lives of many people worldwide (Centre for Disease and Prevention,
second paragraph). America has a major debt of over twenty trillion dollars and does not need
industries like Tabaco costing them more. There is a huge cost borne by the Federal and State
Governments because of the consumption of tobacco by its citizens. The cost, calculated by the
Center for Disease and Prevention, is around

Satirizing News Shows
In recent years, political comedies, especially those satirizing news programs, have risen in
popularity. Shows like The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, Last Week Tonight, and The Nightly
Show have had a huge impact on mainstream America. Because of their comedic nature, these
shows can get away with addressing taboo topics in opinionated manners. Furthermore, their
audiences are less likely to be defensive because their message is displayed in a humorous way.
Therefore, these programs have a significant amount of power when it comes to influencing the
political sphere. Serious news networks often cover topics that are safe. Reporters try to avoid
controversy by not addressing controversial topics or by removing anything possibly offensive.
Thus, even if touchy topics shown, no revolutionary viewpoints are shared. Satirical news
programs, on the other hand, follow no such guidelines. They can address topics such as
transgender rights, the death penalty, and police brutality. Unlike other reporters, comedians feel no
such need to represent both sides of an argument. In topics like climate change, parody news shows

Lender Of Last Resort Essay
The Lender of Last Resort
1.What is the Lender of Last Resort (LOLR)?
The term Lender of Last Resort stems from the French phrase dernier ressort . The first recorded
use of the term Lender of Last Resort originates from a document called Observations on the
Establishment of the Bank of England written in 1797 by Sir Francis Baring in which he refers to
the Bank of England the function of dernier ressort .
The Lender of Last Resort is ordinarily a country s central bank. It offers loans to financial

preventing possible panic from spreading to the populace, preventing possible bank runs from

Possible scenarios in which the Lender of Last Resort is needed in order to help or save
commercial institutions include financial crises, bank runs (when a substantial number of people
withdraw their deposits or demand exchanging their deposits into government bonds or precious
metals) or bank panics (when many bank runs occur in a short period of time).
2.Worldwide Lenders of Last Resort
The function of Lender of Last Resort differs from country to country. One of the most used
financial institution as the Lender of Last Resort is the central bank.
In the USA for example, the Lender of Last Resort is represented by the Federal Reserve. The
main purpose of the Federal Reserve is to help provide liquidity to financial institutions that are
illiquid, at the point of bankruptcy and to stop illiquid banks to start bank panics.
In the United Kingdom, the Bank of England serves as the Lender of Last Resort whilst in New
Zealand we have the Reserve Bank of New Zealand which acts as the central bank and Lender of

Great Art Will Be A Transparent Reflection Of Society
Great art will always be a transparent reflection of the society in which it was produced. The
greatest artists are able to blend cultures and practices into a single work, creating an aesthetic
dialogue that challenges viewers to look at the piece with multiple perspectives and creates the
opportunity for continuous discovery upon subsequent visits. On the first floor of the new Broad
Museum, in Downtown Los Angeles, there is a piece of art executed by the prolific Japanese artist,
Takashi Murakami, which does just this. In a room that is solely dedicated to the work of
Murakami, there is a piece that seems to stand out more than the rest.

Through the use of his famous superflat technique , Murakami removes all texture and physical
depth from the painting creating a body of work that feels seamlessly absent of human involvement.
There is no physical trace of texture or brush stroke, the paint has the appearance of being printed
onto the canvas. Additionally, through this technique, Murakami is able to compress characteristics
of digital design, high and low arts, pop culture, and historical culture all into one piece. As one
begins to analyze what is taking place on the canvas, this becomes more evident.
As one walks around the first floor gallery and gazes at this work by Murakami which spans two
walls wrapping from one wall, through the corner, to the next wall one will see images of
anime, skulls, fish, boats, geishas and more. The entire stretch of the nearly eighty two foot long
canvas seems to be awash in the enormous waves of a tsunami. These waves and the rest of the
characters on the canvas are composed of a selection of radiant acrylics, which fill the rendered
pictures on the canvas with a psychedelic palette of colors. Within each wave, various historical
references can found. Most notably, a color pattern alluding to Katsushika Kokusai s famous
painting, The Great Wave off Kanagawa, is used to fill in several strips of waves that

The Discovery of Ebla and The Relations Between...
The discovery of Ebla gave us a wealth of information on the Near East in the 3rd millennium
BCE but its greatest contribution is to our understanding of the complex and economic
relationships between the cities of Mesopotamia and Syria. Ebla was a diplomatic based empire
and due to its unique geographical location, it had a key role in managing and conducting relations
between early North West Syriaand Upper Mesopotamia(Matthiae 1976, 112). Due to these active
relations with other cities it was stimulated to absorb cultural elements from the Sumerian and
Mesopotamian worlds (Matthiae 1980a, 161). Ebla s political structure, language, religion and art

There is also an abundance of texts in the archives referring to Kish, Mari, and Emar, in particular,
which indicates that there was contact between scribal circles in Northern Syria and Mesopotamia
and that this contact was continuous (Matthiae 1980a, 159). The discovery of objects made in
Ebla but found in places like Sumer, Ur, Mari and Kish such as composite statues and cylinder
seals (Matthiae 1980a, 151) highlights once more that trade and contact between cities was an
essential part of the Syrian and Mesopotamian culture and that Ebla itself was a booming economic
centre.
Ebla was an incredibly sophisticated city, located on the highest tell in the landscape to mark its
dominance (Matthiae 1980a, 219). The actual extent of the city is unknown but it is suspected to
have had a common frontier with Emar on the Euphrates to the north east, and with Hamar in the
south (Matthiae 1980a, 173). Its interaction with the near lesser cities isn t precisely known but
Matthiae (1980a, 170) speculates that it was a policy of control but not one that required the
elimination of each cities individual culture. There were three different possible forms of control
Ebla may have had over the surrounding territories (Matthiae 1980a, 187).

Explain Why Nobody Is Wrong
Nobody Is Wrong and If We Are, it s Not Our Fault
Studies show that a child s manners are most likely to be learned at a very young age.
Along with manners come a child s level of laziness and intensity, because of this children are able
to persevere through hard times and find ways to step it up when they mature. As a child my parents
raised me to the best of their ability and I would say 100% they did a great job and I m sure others
would agree. I was taught to be hard working versatile person who would go to the extreme for a

seems like nobody is fat anymore that they, have a thyroid problem, nobody is short they are
just, vertically challenged. Not only that but now people who are alcoholics are only alcoholics
because their father was a drunk and now they re a victim to his drinking. Gay people can t help
being attracted to the same sex they were born that way and because they re born that way why
should we discriminate. If a person says that homosexuality is wrong they will probably be told,
why do you have to hate or why do you have to judge. Growing up in modern American society is
the hardest challenge I have faced and will definitely get harder, but if you stay rooted in your
faith and actually be 100% about your faith you should have no problem living in an American
culture where you must be accepting of everyone. These are the things that have allowed me to
survive thus far. If you keep a civil tongue and voice your opinion in a respectful manner you can
win people s hearts in a way no one can comprehend. The easiest way to survive in this country is

The pressures of the Cold War made strong nuclear families with breadwinning fathers and
domesticated mothers symbols of a healthy nation. In the film, Edna Turnblad serves to
symbolize the traditional image of the ideal American woman housewife. This is evident by the
content of her stereotypical conversations. For instance, when Edna Turnblad meets Motormouth
Maybelle for the first time, she explains that she could not stay for long because she left the iron
on back at home. Although Maybelle comes from a completely different racial background than
her, she automatically sympathizes with Mrs. Turnblad because as a woman she personally
understands what it is like to leave the iron on. John Water s decision to hold a scene in which
these distinct women could share commonality over an iron was not arbitrarily incorporated into
the film, but was built in precisely to stress that all women tend to housework chores, regardless
of race. Although she is a housewife, Mrs. Turnblad is also in charge of her own laundry
business. Although women were discouraged from getting jobs during this time period, her
employment is not controversial because she works at a stereotypical woman s job. During this
period, many women had to work because a majority of families still needed a second wage to

had been developed from the Samsung Galaxy s2 and has been created to be easier to use and
more enjoyable for the customer. Apple tried banning Samsung from releasing their Samsung

business would need survival strategies if sales for their products have gone down and they want
to make as much money of the product before it goes bust. Samsung reported an 82% jump in

The Seven Main Ideas Of The Declaration Of Independence
The Declaration of Independence states that people have the right to revolt when the government
fails to protect the people s rights. The government s job is to protect everyone s natural rights.
Cinque lost all of his rights when as several men took him forcibly from his home and put him on a
ship. Cinque and the Africans became imprisoned and treaty horribly on the ships. Because the
government failed to protect their rights, Cinque had the right to revolt. The Declaration states the
seven main ideas that Americans think that government should follow. Americans believe in the
idea that everyone is born with specific rights that no government can confiscate from them. This
idea is called the Law of Nature. The rights in the Law of Nature are called Natural Rights. The
three rights included in the Law of Nature are life, liberty, and property. When people willingly
chose to abandon the state of nature and come to terms with the ideas of government, they give
their consent. They willingly surrender some of their freedoms. In return, they receive protection
and safety from the government. When everyone gives their consent, a legitimate government can
be created. The State of Nature does not provide safety. To gain safety, people create a social
contract. They establish a new government. That government will protect the people by enforcing
the rules, and the people promise to follow these laws. The people established the government by
giving their consent,

The Civil Rights Act Of 1964
History tells us that it has been a long road to liberty and a continual fight for civil rights for those
with disabilities. One of the most influential times for change in the lives of disabled Americans
occurred during the 1960s and 1970s, and became know as the Disability Rights Movement.
Structured Inequality/Rationale: After the world wars and Vietnam War, there were many disabled
American veterans who faced challenges and prejudice they had not experienced before. Alongside
those fighting in the Civil Rights Movement were disabled veterans and other people with
disabilities. They too were fighting against inequalities and discrimination. The Disability Rights
Movement occurred due to several issues rooted in structured inequalities. The Civil Rights Act
of 1964 was an example of inequality built into legislation as it prohibited discrimination based
on race, color, religion, or national origin (Cornell), but did not address discrimination based on
disabilities. Inaccessibility and negative societal views excluded those with disabilities from their
rights. There was a need for a policy written specifically for the protection of persons with
disabilities. Structured inequality in the U.S. economy was evident in occupational segregation
and discrimination (Aguirre Baker, 1999). Such was the case for Judy Heumann, a disabled
college graduate who, in 1970, was denied a teaching license from the state of New York because
she failed a medical examination (Patterson,

Flickering Shadows In Copper s Strengths
Copper is neither particularly loyal or intelligent, but he is an excellent fighter. Recruited by the

A Day For Celebration
It was the Day of First Song, and celebrations echoed throughout Adiha. Her residents, supporters
of the Church, packed Civic Square and its adjacent streets. The mingling of their cheers and
jeers created a festive melody that was contagious to all. White fluorescent orbs lined every
street and hung from every doorway, fighting off nights impending darkness in recognition of
Aeskar. Elm Tower watched over the people, a bright white beacon in the fresh spring air. And
this was fitting, as it was a day for celebration. A visitor entering the city would likely be swept
up by the crowd, add their own melody to the Katharos songs, and drink merrily through the next
morning. They might even lose themselves in the cities joy, having drained one too many mugs
before stumbling through an inn door. And they would not be judged for their befuddled state, as
it was indeed a day for celebration. It was on days of celebration like these that people forgot.
They might cherish time spent with friends, laugh at their own blunders, and even chance at love.
But the greatest joy of the night was in forgetting the small hassles that plagued everyday life. The
luxury of discarding these weary thoughts, even for a single day, was priceless. AndorianAges did
not know this luxury. He looked down on the crowds from Elm Tower. Shackled by iron chains and
reputation, wishing that for one moment he could forget the troubles that consumed his life. And
so he stared, fruitlessly feigning

Helicobacter Pylori Report
Helicobacter pylori
Introduction
Helicobacter pylori, also known as H. pylori, is a spiral bacterium that lives inside the human
stomach. H. pylori likes the acidic environment that the stomach provides and evidence has linked it
to a variety of minor gastrointestinal illnesses. H. pylori causes inflammation in the lining of the
stomach and is involved in 90% of stomach and intestinal ulcers. H. pylori also has an apparent
cause to the development of adenocarcinoma, a common stomach cancer. J. Robin Warren first
detected H. pylori in the stomachs of ulcer patients in 1979. Warren then isolated the microbe in a
culture and tested it effects by swallowing some of the inoculum. A short term case of gastritis

pylori. One way to test for H. pylori is to do a Breath Test. When taking the breath test, the
person has to stop taking antibiotics or Pepto Bismol up to 2 weeks before the testing. During
the test, the swallowing of a special substance that has urea is necessary. The body uses the urea
to break down protein and the urea used for the test is made harmlessly radioactive. If H. pylori
is present, the bacteria convert the urea into CO2 which is then detected and recorded in the
persons exhale breath 10 minutes after. This test is very affective in determining whether a
person has H. pylori or not. The next test is a blood test which is used to measure antibodies to
H. pylori. The test can only tell if a person has H. pylori antibodies but it cannot tell if the person
currently have the infection or how long they have had the infection. The blood test cannot be
used to see if the infection has been cured after treatment. The third type of test is the stool test
that can detect traces of H. pylori in the feces. The stool test can be used to diagnose the
infection and confirm that it has been cured after the treatment. The fourth type of test is a
biopsy (a tissue sample) that is taken from the stomach lining and a biopsy is the most accurate
way to tell if a person has H. pylori. To remove the tissue sample from the lining of the stomach
the person has to go through a procedure called an endoscopy and this procedure is done in the
hospital. Reasons for needing an endoscopy include diagnosing the ulcer, treating bleeding, or
making sure there is no cancer (Tests for H. pylori,

Radical Feminism in Like Water for Chocolate Essay
There are many different definitions of feminism. Some people regard feminism as the idea that
women deserve the same amount of respect that men deserve. There are the other schools of
feminist thought that hold women superior to men. Yet another believes that the gender roles
controlling women are artificially created and not innate knowledge, and thus men and women are
equals with only history the determining factor and how genderequality is established. There are
clear feminist overtones in Like Water for Chocolate by Laura Esquivel. Esquivel pointes to a more
radical definition of feminismin Like Water for Chocolate. The story focuses on mostly female

We see elsewhere in the novel the strength in Gertrudis, Tita s sister. Gertrudis escapes the ranch
after reacting mysteriously to one of Tita s recipes. She runs away with a rebel soldier, works in
a brothel at the Mexico Texas border, and eventually returns to the ranch as a general in the
revolutionary army. Here we witness the creation of a second strong female character. When we
first see Gertrudis we see just another female character. But after her return we find that she has
become a leader of in the revolution. Again Esquivel takes a potion that is typically male
associated and fills that role with and equally respectable female character.
There is then the focal character, Tita. Tita is the pivotal character in defining Like Water for
Chocolate as a feminist novel. Tita more than her mother, is the glue that holds her family
together. It is she that cares for the ranch and feeds everyone. Tita is the one who ensures that
everything goes to plan. After her mother becomes paralyzed, even with her hatred towards her
she still continues to care for her. Tita is the strongest feminine figure in this novel. She continues
to strive for what she wants form life and stops at nothing to get it. Through Esquivel creates a
sense that Tita is not someone who you would want to get in the way of. Esquivel does this in such

Group A Streptococcus (GAS) Essay
Streptococcus pyogenes, also known as Group A streptococcus (GAS), is a ОІ hemolytic, Gram
positive bacterium that most commonly causes respiratory disease, including pharyngitis or
tonsillitis, as well as skin infections such as impetigo and cellulitis. The organism is transmitted via
respiratory droplets or by contact with fomites, and commonly infects young children. In addition to
the common clinical presentations associated with S. pyogenes, some individuals develop the
postinfectious sequelae of rheumatic fever and glomerulonephritis. Due to the severity of these
medical consequences, prophylactic antibiotic use is often recommended for any patients with
otherwise mild S. pyogenes infections (21).

Antibiotic use, particularly with clindamycin and linezolid, may be useful in treating GAS
associated necrotizing fasciitis, as they target both M proteins and exotoxins (5). Some cases have
been treated with hyperbaric oxygen therapy, with recent data suggesting prompt surgical therapy
instead is vital for preventing amputations (18). Even after treatment, however, necrotizing fasciitis
mortality has been estimated to range from 24% 60% (10).
In S. pyogenes associated necrotizing fasciitis, the bacteria first invade host fascia before spreading
and causing more invasive damage. Initial GAS invasion can occur through three primary
pathways: 1) preceding superficial infection; 2) direct inoculation; or 3) hematogenous seeding
from a previous injury site. After colonization, GAS spread through the typically sterile fascial
planes that separate muscle groups, which are only loosely held together by connective tissue. The
streptococci then release several proteases and other virulence factors that cause localized tissue
damage. Simultaneously, this dissemination prompts the arrival of acute inflammatory host cells;
the response of polymorphouclear leukocytes (PMNs), in particular, can also contribute to the
tissue damage characteristic of necrotizing fasciitis. Once the

Why Are Heroes Bad
The tendency for us to want of need heroes and villains impacts us dramatically in a number of
ways. Firstly, the heroes that we have, especially as children, do affect us dramatically in our
behaviour towards others and views on ourselves. One of the major problems with this is that we
don t choose the right people to idolised a lot of the time, which in turn reflects on our societal
values needing to be deeply questioned. Take a sports star, for example. A huge number of children
will grow up having a sports star or stars affecting their attitudes and values. These athletes can no
doubt have some very positive impacts, as many of them come from poverty or tough
circumstances. It s these athletes that give children in similar situations hope.... Show more content

The way our heroes and idols act has a strong influence on how we behave as well. This can be
seen in many circumstances with the most obvious being celebrities setting trends. The caricatures
we create can also be very harmful to ourselves. Another example of negative role models is kids
growing up in a ghetto often idolise local gang members. This tends to lead to those same kids
replicating gang member behaviour, murdering, stealing and raping. The end result is some of
these kids either in jail or dead. This is a huge problem in our society. We valuepeople with self
centered and lack of empathy not because we value these qualities within the person, but we look
up to the people that are revolting against the systems and cycles of poverty and pain that we are
trapped in. Young children in impoverished areas look up to gang members because they see that
even though they started from nothing, as they did, they became part of something that stands
up to the idea that all they will ever be is at the bottom of the food chain, picking up the scraps
others have left behind. For this reason, it s easy to see why these common thugs are idolised,
they have respect and this is something that every person wants, especially people that aren t
given any. However, it does not do us any good to look up to people that slip through the cracks of
the system, but rather we should try to change the system so this build up of resentment between
different facets of society does not

Comparing Grimm’s Fairytale Snow White to Snow White, by...
As a child, I was told fairytales such as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs every night before I
went to sleep. Fairytales are an adventurous way to expand a child s imagination and open their
eyes to experience a new perspective. Modernizations of fairytales typically relate to a specific
audience, such as adolescence, and put a contemporary spin on the old aged tale. Instead of using
whimsical themes heavily centered in nature, the contemporary poems connect with the reader in a
more realistic everyday scenario. Also, many modernizations are written in poetic form to help
reconstruct a flow in the piece and to develop or sometimes completely change the meaning from
that of the original fairytale. Comparing Grimm s Fairytale Snow White... Show more content on

Comparative Essay
The Catcher In The Rye by J.D. Salinger and Igby Goes Down by Burr Steers are both displayed
as rites of passage texts. The respective protagonists of these two texts are Igby Slocumb and
Holden Caulfield. These two characters are both on a journey motif, a journey of self discovery in
which they both attempt to find meaning in life and understand societies values and attitudes. The
two protagonists demonstrate non conformity and rebel against the apparent hypocrisy present in
their respective societies. Hypocrisy can be defined as the difference between illusion and reality, in

It s awful. If I m on my way to the store to buy a magazine, even, and somebody asks me where I
m going, I m liable to say I m going to the opera. It s terrible. By Holden admitting to his lying
habits, he provides the responder with reason to believe that he applies a façade by expressing
false pretences. This quotation also provides the audience with reason to think that Holden is not
mentally healthy; this literary technique is called foreshadowing. The rebellious attitudes
demonstrated by both Holden and Igby represent their attitudes to the concept of hypocrisy. Igby
and Holden have similar values and beliefs which reject this idea of illuding reality. Holden rejects
all materialistic value and success which corroborates with Igby s attitudes in rejecting the
American Dream in which his Godfather, D.H., has achieved. Neither of these two characters view,
so called success, the way that the rest of society does.
Another aspect of the respective texts is how the two protagonists display their individuality in
order to separate themselves from everyone else, they desire to be unique. This perception of reality
is articulated through the symbolism in The Catcher In The Rye and the wardrobe and lighting
features utilised throughout the movie Igby Goes Down. Holden s red hunting hat becomes
inseparable from the image of Holden. This hat is perceived as a symbol of his uniqueness and
personality. The hat is outlandish, and it shows that Holden desires to

Essay on Wawa s Expansion into Canada
Introduction The Wawa Food Market chain is a privately held company that offers built to order
foods, beverages, coffee, fuel services, and surcharge fee ATMs. We feel that the Canadian
economy as well as the Canadian citizens would benefit in more ways than one from these
openings. Canada s middle class is the richest among other big nations. Since 2000, median income
in Canadahas grown 19.7%, compared to the 0.3% growth in the United States. Since Canada has
taken aggressive steps to raise their citizens take home pay, they need to spend that extra earned
income to keep the economy flowing in a positive direction.
Our group chose Canada because we feel that there are many similarities between our culture in the
United States and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Wawa has been seen as having a weak cost structure and having a lack of presence online as two
of their main weaknesses. The one thing you have to consider while talking about cost structure
is the quality of the product. Although Wawa is seen as having higher prices they also provide
food and services that go far beyond any top competitor in the market. A weak online presence is
not good for a company because it results in lost opportunities. Online marketing is a huge part of
business these days, and Wawa s lack thereof may be the cause of no knowledge about the store in
Canada. Social media and online advertisement goes a long way with how prevalent people are on
computers.
The online market offers Wawa great opportunity for expansion. The amazing thing about the
online market is that you can advertise to a much wider group of people for less expense than
alternate ways. This would be a great way to spread awareness of the company before
transitioning into a new economy where Wawa is unknown. Another great opportunity that has
come with the upbringing of new technology is mobile shopping. Being able to shop on a mobile
phone or laptop and have your products delivered is as convenient as a convenient store will ever
get. This tactic by grocery and convenient stores has grown in popularity and attracts clients that do
not have time to travel to the store.
Threats involve stores that already play a large role in Canada such as Mac s, Hess

Why Was The Corinth Railroad Important
The Corinth railroad is very significant till this day. It helped people back then and now. Corinth
is very known for its railroads. The railroads helped bring in and deliver out different produce.
The railroads revolutionized the art of the Civil War. The sources I m going to be introducing will
be talking about how Corinth s railroads was and is significance to Corinth. The railroads made a
huge difference for Corinth because of the way we used them.
The railroads located in Corinth are used to transport goods from here to there. The union Army
viewed the railroads and Corinth as a lifetime for the Confederacy. The Confederate Army used the
railroads to transport soldiers, weapons, food, and communicated all throughout the South from this

We use the railroads for many things now days. In the civil war, railway systems were one way a
force could gain the benefits of inside argumentation,, and as generals pursued this strategy the
Civil war became the first great railroad war in Mississippi. The Mississippi railroads made it
easier for things to transport in and out of Mississippi. The status of inside lines can be achieved
by a violence having a central location relation to the enemy or by a force having superior lateral
communication relative to the enemy. It is the importance of railroads and the interior lines that
they promised that catapulted the otherwise modest town of Corinth, Mississippi into the center
stage of the Civil state of War. At the meter of the Civil War, Corinth was still a young town.
Corinth stands as a multi faceted demonstration of how railroads influenced procedure and
scheme in the Civil War. It had already brought together the two great armies that clashed at
Shiloh. In bend the Confederates and Federals had defended and attacked it, struggling for its
ascendency. The Mississippi railways made it easier, traveling wise. During the years 1880
1899 ,Civil War days in Corinth, the railroads were way more significant and important to
Corinth s people. Back in those type of days, there was hardly any transportation for people. So
they took highly advantage of the railroads. However, from the years 1900 1950, Industrial
Corinth, the railroads were still important but not as highly as the years 1880 1899 being more
things were getting invented as in cars and trucks, mainly for transporting goods. Now in the
years 1950 2015, Modern day Corinth, the railroad importance went down. In these days we have
things like big 18 wheelers and over seas transportation. There was more transportation now and
the 18 wheelers deliver more faster. Over the years, we ve created things

My Observation Of My Observational Assignment
For my observational assignment I chose the first option which was to observe children or
adolescents. The two children that I observed were about three years old. It was one male and
one female. The children were playing with each other in a play area at a shopping mall. The
two children would spend a few minutes engaged in the same activity, but then would break up
to play individually. The personality traits that I noticed about the little girl was that she seemed
to be extremely out going. She did not appear to be afraid of anything. The little girl was very
loud, and bold, and made her presence known. It also seemed as though she would run away
from her mother, rather than sticking close by as instructed to. The little boy on the other hand
seemed to be quite the opposite. He seemed a little bit more reserved, maybe even shy. The little
girl seemed a bit bossy instructing the boy on what to do. I noticed that when she demonstrated
this behavior, it prompted the separation and they played individually. This however only lasted a
few moments and the children were back to playing with one another. I did notice that after some
time the little boy seemed to loosen up his shyness and begin to act more outgoing like the little
girl. This leads me to believe that his behavior is influenced more so by his environment than his
genetics. It is possible to say that he is genetically predisposed to be more reserved, but
environmental factors can influence him to become a more

Swot Analysis Of Dick s Sporting Goods Essay
Equity Analysis Dick s Sporting Goods has had reputable equitability consistently throughout
the years. Investors have been able to regularly earn a respectable return on their investments.
However, some of the valuation metrics of Dick s Sporting Goods are slightly troublesome. The
price to earnings ratio, which is one of the most commonly used gauge of valuing equity
securities, has decreased over the last 3 years and recently decreased 24% compared to the
previous year, while their earnings per share has increased every year with the exception of the
current year where it decreased minimally. This indicates that the market is lessening their
expectations of the company. Another commonly used measure is the price to cash flow which
eliminates the manipulation that is possible with net income that is used in the price to earnings
ratio. This ratio also has decreased recently, thus also indicating a lessening in expectations in the
market. The company has had adequate profitability over the previous years that have helped
investors earn a pleasant return on their investments. The basic earnings per share and the diluted
earnings per share have both increased over the last four years, but both decreased ever so
slightly in the current year. This decrease in the earnings per share is most likely due to the
considerable decrease in net income for the current year. But Dick s Sporting Goods has been
managing their earnings per share through share buy backs which is

The Philadelphia Museum Of Art Museum
The Philadelphia Museum of Art was my first time to an art museum, and overall I think it was a
good experience. When I thought of an art museum, I thought it was going to be all paintings.
But as it turns out, that idea was wrong. There were lots of other forms of art there as well. The
exhibit that I enjoyed the most was the International Pop exhibit. But there were also many other
exhibits that I enjoyed as well. Some of those include; European, American, Arms and Armor. All
every interesting exhibits that everyone should see. But those are not all, when going to this
museum, every exhibit should be looked at, all have very interesting things in them. The
International pop exhibit was one of my favorite out of all the exhibits. The International Pop
navigates a fast paced world packed with bold and thought provoking imagery, revealing a
vibrant period shaped by social, political, and cultural changes . One piece of art that I found
interesting was Still Life by Tom Wesselmann, American, 1931 2004 . When looking at this piece
if reminds me of different time. This piece reminds me of other art works that I have seen with the
same kinds of things on it as well. Another work of art that I enjoyed was the 20th/21st Century
Tribute by AntГґnio Henrique Amaral , this painting makes the viewer actually stop and look at it.
There are many different parts to this painting too look at. When walking through the museum, this
was definitely something that catches ones eye.

The Physics Of Golf Ball
Fore! A Newtonian and Projectile Motion Study of the Golf Swing
Physics Around Campus
Tim Stoddard
Physics 102
Spring 2015
Figure 1 below depicts a snap shot of the compact and physics ridden entity known as a golf
swing. Taken at my home in Olympia, WA, this picture was taken moments before the impact
between my driver and the Titleist Pro V1 golf ball. The game of golf is riddled with physics
concepts governing everything from the power generated in the swing, to every impact with the
ball, to even the motion of the ball in the air and on the ground. Everything is governed by and
can be explained by physics concepts. However, this paper will focus on the impact of the
clubface and the ball (governed by Newtonian physics) and then its subsequent flight in the air as
a projectile. We will look at both the first and second laws that Isaac Newton proposed as well as
the resulting equations and concepts that come into effect when the ball is launched. The paper
will conclude with a brief aside on the history surrounding the golf ball and its evolution, and
subsequently why (in terms of physics) the golf ball embodies a very unique and well known
physical form.
To begin, consider a ball resting on the tee as can be seen in Figure 1. Before the golfer even begins
his swing, we see evidence of our first physics concept. The ball is resting on the tee and is
remaining there and ceasing to move because of Newton s first law of

Richard Clarke Cyber Breach
Cyber Breach
Since 2005 a total 895,605,986 were breached and 4,745 DATA BREACHES have occurred.
According to the former national coordinator for security, infrastructure protection for the United
States, Richard Clarke, believes that companies can be put into two types those that have been
breached and know it and companies that have been and just don t know it yet. With so many
cyber breaches and personal data being released into the wrong hands has many companies
wanting to strike back on their own. While this idea may seem reasonable I believe that companies
should have a cyber strategy such as identifying assets, outline a plan of action, develop
partnerships, and train their employees.
Companies must first identify their asset and what it is they are wanting to protect. Each company
has a different set of standards they are wanting to protect. For example, retail operations, healthcare
facilities, and higher education institutions have a very different asset to protect than a
manufacturing company, energy, telecommunication center and financial institutions.... Show more

only assigning one person to be responsible for security, conduct an assessment to identify areas

The Right Of Habeas Corpus
The war on terror seems to be a never ending story, especially with the current events such as the
beheading of two Americans by the terrorist group ISIS. These are barbaric people, whom have no

and the rights or civil liberties of detainees who have been deemed enemy combatants. To
understand the right of habeas corpusin the context of the war on terror, you must first understand

Police Forces And The Police Force
Baltimore police force is provided with more resources than a small town police force. The wire
showed how provided the Baltimore police was. In the wire it showed how the media turned the
murder case into a drug case. When the media got involved the police chief made a new drug task
force to fix the problem. This drug task force was made of people in different departments of the
Baltimore police. It shows how the Baltimore police force can spared people for a new program.
When this drug force started to get information about the suspect the head chief funded the
program. With the funded the drug force got more cars, vans, and listening devices to help them get
the suspects faster. When the drug force got enough information for a bust. The police force spared
manpower and vehicles, so they can get the suspect.
Across America, there are a lot of small towns that makes this country. Within Small Townships
there are police forces that only have five to ten officers that patrol acres of woods or farm land. On
a daily base these officers deal with minor crime like drugs, aggravated assault, burglary, and
property crimes. If a crime happens it can take about twenty minutes for the township police to
get there or it can at the state police up to an hour to get on the scene of the crime. In a big city
like Baltimore police force takes about three to five minutes to get to the scene of the crime. The

The World Is Flat, By Thomas L. Friedman
The World Is Flat is a visionary and insightful text written by Thomas L. Friedman. In short, the text
brings about the study of globalization at its forefront. Moreover, Friedman analyzes the evolution
of business and importance of information with respect not only to the 21st century, but with
regards to the history of trade as we know it. It is from this study and understanding that Friedman
engages in a detailed thought process as to how an institution, government, or individual can remain
competitive in such a progressive environment. In summary, through engaging in the fifteen
chapters and recalling the historical events used as evidence, one may arrive at more substantial
conclusion as to how certain entities will remain ahead of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

To explain with an example, Friedman gives the reader a story, stating when I was growing up,
my parents told me, Finish your dinner. People in China and India are starving. I tell my
daughters, Finish your homework. People in India and China are starving for your job (270).
Apparent in this personal example is the presence of two critical arguments of the text. First and
foremost, the quote draws a contrast between two generations and highlights the fact that they are
in some respects, exponentially different. Thus, Friedman is able to reinforce his claims of how
rapidly changing the world truly is. Secondly, he uses this example of drastic change occurring
from one generation to the next to reference on of the driving forces or catalysts. To clarify, the
reference to China and India s population as eager for a job opportunity indirectly reemphasizes the
effects of the spread of information as well as the strength of outsourcing. From this quote, the
reader gathers that individuals outside of their home state have the ability to do their job and will
do so without ever having to step into their country. Again, Friedman puts into context the vast
contribution that the web and other information sharing technologies have given the globe.
Although there are more detailed explanations and relevant evidence, this quote serves as a fairly
strong summary of Friedman s arguments in the first half of the text. Whereas the first half of
Friedman s work aims to

Mambo Girl Comparative Essay
Films such as Shall We Dansu? and Mambo Girl both display East Asian performance of Latin
American dance forms ballroom and a culmination of Latin American dance styles such as mambo
and cha cha respectively. However, according to dance scholar Juliet McMains, in this process of
transculturation, ballroom dancers are dancing Latin as a means of affirming their distance from
Latin ethnic identity through consciously donning a mask of Latin ness an exotic otherness (304
305). I impose and further McMains ideas on the films Shall We Dansu? and Mambo Girl. Through
comparative analysis of the movement profile of their two main characters Sugiyama and Kailing,
both vital to the plot and enhance the films characters and character development, I compare the
characters first dancescene, then moments where they retreat from dancing altogether and lastly,
dance as celebration. The comparison reveals that while dancing is a form of nonverbal
communication, communicating the exoticization of Latin American dance forms in East Asia, it
engages audience s imagination and positions them as co writers of that story; Dance forces the

  • 2. Jesus s Love Through Servant Leadership And Compassion... Nicholas Smith Relational Dynamics Mr. Bauer December 8, 2015 Jesus Love Jesus expresses love through servant leadership and compassion for others. He heals others and makes sure to lead by example, and serve his followers. He expresses all types of love except for eros. Love by definition is an emotion explored in philosophy, religion, and literature, often as either romantic love, the fraternal love of others, or the love of God. As I explored the definition by means of the Internet, books, and articles I noticed the definitions changed quite a bit, but yet had the same basic understanding. The definition I found in was probably the most simple and most basic. It refers to love in the whole aspect, which is Godly, fraternal, and romantic. All in which can only be defined by one word and that it love. The definitions of love are the same and yet different. Godly, for instance is the love of God, and your devotion and respect toward him, the creator. In all religion, god carries the same aspect. Fraternal love is the love of ones family and relatives, even the love of one who is close to you, in that respect, such as a friend. Then there s romantic love; a love between two people, which I consider to be both intimate and sexual. Older dictionaries and encyclopedias usually refer to the romantic aspect of love, as the love in which is experience between man and woman. In today s society it is said that romantic love can be found regardless of your gender and based on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Watership Down Richard Adams award winning Watership Down wasn t just rejected once or twice, but reportedly 17 times before finally being picked up by Rex Collings one man publishing firm. Rowling s fantasy novel. The last four of the series consecutively broke records for the fastest selling books in history. The Da Vinci Code How did Dan Brown learn to cope after being told his new novel, The Da Vinci Code, was so badly written in one of his first rejection letters? Oh, about 80 million sales later, something tells me he survived. The Lord of the Flies Now a staple of English literature and present in nearly every school in the Americas, William Golding s The Lord of the Flies was described early on as an absurd and uninteresting fantasy which was rubbish and dull. • 4. Hematoma Research Paper Choice A is the best answer. All of the choices are complications of parathyroid surgery. The development of an expanding hematoma in the pretracheal space has the highest mortality in postoperative patients if left untreated as it compresses the airway. This complication must be recognized and treated immediately by opening the wound and evacuating the hematoma. If untreated, the hematoma may progress rapidly, causing airway obstruction. In contrast, most small hematomas do not require treatment[1]. Choice B is not the best answer. After a 4 parathyroid gland exploration, calcium levels must be monitored postoperatively every 12 hours until stabilization. The nadir of serum calcium usually occurs 24 72 hours postoperatively. If hypoparathyroidism persists after surgery, oral supplementation with calcium and vitamin D is required. Calcium citrate or calcium carbonate may be started at 2 tablets, 4 times per day. Some patients require substantially more. Calcitriol is started at 0.5 mcg twice daily and increased as required. Patients in whom total parathyroidectomy and auto transplantation is performed, they can be expected to require only temporary calcium supplementation[1]. Choice D is not the best answer. If a recurrent laryngeal nerve is transected during parathyroidectomy, immediate repair is indicated. Damage to the external branch of the superior laryngeal nerve can cause the patient to lose the ability to sing, shout or project their voice. If the recurrent nerve is unknowingly injured intraoperatively, but dysfunction is suggested because the patient has developed new hoarseness, expectant management is chosen initially since most patients recover nerve function over a few weeks to months. A characterization which decentralises coloured womanhood; reduced to an ornamental configuration which is exchanged through white and male cantered discourses and acts of sexual violation; solely existent as a commodity which is ultimately consumable. • 6. William Shakespeare s Othello ENG 1001: Nothing is funnier than unhappiness, I grant you that. Yes, yes, it s the most comical thing in the world (Samuel Beckett). Wilde, Shakespeare and Beckett incorporate two genres in their plays that nursed a strong intrigue interest (Jones, pg 26) comedy and tragedy. According to Aristotle in his Poetics, tragedyin a play is an imitation of an action that is serious, complete and of a certain magnitude composed of plot, character, thought, diction, melody and spectacle, (Myers, pg 118). Conventionally, comedies end happily in which real world conflicts are resolved. In this essay I am going to demonstrate how each of the playwrights challenge the traditional ideology of comedy and tragedy. Comical elements in Othello are limited, however a neoclassical critic stated, there is in this play, some burlesque, some humour and a ramble of comical wit and therefore, Othello as a whole is none other than a Bloody Farce (Rymer). To an extent I agree with this comment, however Othello is evidently more tragic than comical. The distasteful comedy based on racial stereotypes further delineates a tragic response to the play, Awake/...or else the devil will make a grandsire of you (I.I.90 91). The misogynous, racist and heretic language is explicitly apparent and distinctive to show the idea of cross breeding, raising anxieties about reproduction and the classification of things, ... you ll have coursers for cousins and jennets for germans! You quickly throw your clothes, three pairs of boots (you insist that 2 pairs will simply not be enough), your helmet (knowing that you will be riding your horse), and 4 sweatshirts. You throw your bag(s) into the car and start calling to the rest of your family to hurry up. You throw yourself into the car and anxiously wait for them. The morning sun rose to surround the landscape with its warmth. The ever lingering moisture in the air was thick enough you could feel it. You can clearly see the heavy dew on the grass. The thin layer of moisture covers every surface. The insanely beautiful sunrise on the horizon showers you with a bright light that is bound to wake you completely. The peacefully resting horses can be seen from your trailer s window. The slow moving preparation for the day ahead is seen in many neighboring campsites. However, because varrays holds a fixed number of elements, the method should be used when the amount of elements is predetermined. USER DEFINED DATA TYPES (UDT) UDTs have numerous ways of implementation. They act much like the typedefs in the C language and can be used as defining a table, element, or even column type. Distinct user defined types of power allow the use of name equivalence instead of structural equivalence. Compatible operations can be achieved by using the CAST operation. Structured user defined types allow for type inheritance which creates subtypes that inherit attributes and functions of their super types or references types. There are several reasons why UDT s are useful within an object database (Burleson Consulting 2014): 1.Encapsulation The existence of a complete entity. This means once the data definitions, default values, and value constraints are defined uniformity and consistency are guaranteed. Because of this, once nested UDTs will retain uniformity throughout the database. 2.Reusability Refers to the reuse of the hierarchy of common data structures which we learned in a previous course saves coding time and insures uniformity. 3.Flexibility This is obvious in the name, User Defined Data Type, as it allows great flexibility when creating ... With Daria stating she has nightmares and is unable to return to work, it has to be decided whether this further contributes to her condition, as for a defendant to be liable, you have to have a recognised medical condition. If Daria is seen to have a recognisable psychiatric illness she would have been owed a duty of care by Steve. For this to be fully established, the case of Caparo states there are three requirements for a duty of care to be owed. These requirements are foreseeability, proximity and fair, just and reasonable. It can be understood that the actions of driving in a negligent manner, as stated in the scenario of Tom, that harm to someone on the road would be reasonably foreseeable. The relationship of proximity in this context relates space and time. With Daria being there at the exact timing of Tom s death and being only a few inches from injury herself, it could be proven she satisfies the requirement for this particular part of the test by way of her shock being caused due to sudden and direct witnessing. This can be further analysed in the case of McLoughlin v O Brien where the House of Lords allowed the plaintiffs claim on the basis she had been around at the time of the immediate ... Summary of Article Marriott to Buy Starwood Hotels, Creating World s Largest Hotel Company is an article I retrieved from The New York Times, which deliberates, how Marriott International acquired Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide for $12.2 billion. The announcement was a surprise to the industry, because Hyatt Hotel Corporation, InterContinental Hotels Group and some other Chinese companies were in the blend to pursue the transaction, Additionally, Marriott is more considered as a dominant entity in the hotel industry, especially in the upscale sector where Starwood also has a dominant name. By Marriott, a strategic review begun several months ago but at first Marriott wasn t fully interested due to higher list price. However as time went by, Marriott identified some relative shift in the value of the company, which made it more attractive economically, and Marriott started to believe that they can create value by merging the two company. The BCS National Championship Game Essay From the first two national champions, Rutgers and Princeton, to last year s debateable Auburn national championship winning team, college football has always had difficulties deciding national champions. The BCS National Championship game was thought to give a less prejudice opinion on which teams play in the championship game than humans did. However, it has stimulated more controversy in college sports than Cal Stanford The Play. The problem with the BCS teams is, it chooses two teams that are based on profit, popularity, and record. One third of the standings are also based on coach s polls this means that one third of the standings are based off of bias people who don t watch every game each week, thus, making them incapable of deciding who should be ranked and who shouldn t. A playoff system would eradicate such controversy by allowing teams such as Utah to play in a playoff. Surely, the NCAA and Division I A football can join the other 23 intercollegiate sports and devise a system that determines a true champion, preserves the integrity of the game and levels the playing field, LaVell Edwards, Former Brigham Young University Coach. This statement was made to the Senate last summer by the only coach to win a national championship at Brigham Young. In every other collegiate sport in the United States the champion is decided by a playoff system. Even the NFL, NBA, MLB, and NHL the champion is decided by a playoff. The excuse that most of BCS executives is that you cannot have one hundred twenty teams playing in a playoff. • 12. Why Tobacco Should Be Banned From The United States Essay Consumption of Tobacco is a worldwide phenomenon. Nearly every country is planning to raise more restrictions around the consumption of Tobacco. The awareness about its ill effects is rising through the corridors of Parliaments of many countries with the help of governmental and non governmental organizations. There are some internationally recognized organizations like the World Lung Foundations that are striving hard to reduce the consumption of tobaccoto a bare minimum. There are numerous reasons that support the argument that tobacco should be completely banned from the United Sates. Tobacco consumption is the number one cause of preventable deaths in the United States. In the United States, cigarette smoking is responsible for more than 480,000 deaths per year. That is around one in five deaths annually only because of smoking. On an average, the person who smokes dies ten years earlier than a non smoker. These statistics are not mere numbers but speak about the gravity of the situation. The United States government should portray a more negative view on Tabaco to save the lives of many people worldwide (Centre for Disease and Prevention, second paragraph). America has a major debt of over twenty trillion dollars and does not need industries like Tabaco costing them more. There is a huge cost borne by the Federal and State Governments because of the consumption of tobacco by its citizens. The cost, calculated by the Center for Disease and Prevention, is around ... Shows like The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, Last Week Tonight, and The Nightly Show have had a huge impact on mainstream America. Because of their comedic nature, these shows can get away with addressing taboo topics in opinionated manners. Furthermore, their audiences are less likely to be defensive because their message is displayed in a humorous way. Therefore, these programs have a significant amount of power when it comes to influencing the political sphere. Serious news networks often cover topics that are safe. Reporters try to avoid controversy by not addressing controversial topics or by removing anything possibly offensive. Thus, even if touchy topics shown, no revolutionary viewpoints are shared. Satirical news programs, on the other hand, follow no such guidelines. They can address topics such as transgender rights, the death penalty, and police brutality. Unlike other reporters, comedians feel no such need to represent both sides of an argument. The greatest artists are able to blend cultures and practices into a single work, creating an aesthetic dialogue that challenges viewers to look at the piece with multiple perspectives and creates the opportunity for continuous discovery upon subsequent visits. On the first floor of the new Broad Museum, in Downtown Los Angeles, there is a piece of art executed by the prolific Japanese artist, Takashi Murakami, which does just this. Additionally, through this technique, Murakami is able to compress characteristics of digital design, high and low arts, pop culture, and historical culture all into one piece. As one walks around the first floor gallery and gazes at this work by Murakami which spans two walls wrapping from one wall, through the corner, to the next wall one will see images of anime, skulls, fish, boats, geishas and more. The entire stretch of the nearly eighty two foot long canvas seems to be awash in the enormous waves of a tsunami. These waves and the rest of the characters on the canvas are composed of a selection of radiant acrylics, which fill the rendered pictures on the canvas with a psychedelic palette of colors. The discovery of Ebla gave us a wealth of information on the Near East in the 3rd millennium BCE but its greatest contribution is to our understanding of the complex and economic relationships between the cities of Mesopotamia and Syria. Ebla was a diplomatic based empire and due to its unique geographical location, it had a key role in managing and conducting relations between early North West Syriaand Upper Mesopotamia(Matthiae 1976, 112). Due to these active relations with other cities it was stimulated to absorb cultural elements from the Sumerian and Mesopotamian worlds (Matthiae 1980a, 161). The discovery of objects made in Ebla but found in places like Sumer, Ur, Mari and Kish such as composite statues and cylinder seals (Matthiae 1980a, 151) highlights once more that trade and contact between cities was an essential part of the Syrian and Mesopotamian culture and that Ebla itself was a booming economic centre. Ebla was an incredibly sophisticated city, located on the highest tell in the landscape to mark its dominance (Matthiae 1980a, 219). The actual extent of the city is unknown but it is suspected to have had a common frontier with Emar on the Euphrates to the north east, and with Hamar in the south (Matthiae 1980a, 173). • 21. The Civil Rights Act Of 1964 History tells us that it has been a long road to liberty and a continual fight for civil rights for those with disabilities. One of the most influential times for change in the lives of disabled Americans occurred during the 1960s and 1970s, and became know as the Disability Rights Movement. Structured Inequality/Rationale: After the world wars and Vietnam War, there were many disabled American veterans who faced challenges and prejudice they had not experienced before. Alongside those fighting in the Civil Rights Movement were disabled veterans and other people with disabilities. They too were fighting against inequalities and discrimination. The Disability Rights Movement occurred due to several issues rooted in structured inequalities. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 was an example of inequality built into legislation as it prohibited discrimination based on race, color, religion, or national origin (Cornell), but did not address discrimination based on disabilities. Inaccessibility and negative societal views excluded those with disabilities from their rights. There was a need for a policy written specifically for the protection of persons with disabilities. Structured inequality in the U.S. economy was evident in occupational segregation and discrimination (Aguirre Baker, 1999). Such was the case for Judy Heumann, a disabled college graduate who, in 1970, was denied a teaching license from the state of New York because she failed a medical examination (Patterson, ... When taking the breath test, the person has to stop taking antibiotics or Pepto Bismol up to 2 weeks before the testing. During the test, the swallowing of a special substance that has urea is necessary. The body uses the urea to break down protein and the urea used for the test is made harmlessly radioactive. If H. pylori is present, the bacteria convert the urea into CO2 which is then detected and recorded in the persons exhale breath 10 minutes after. This test is very affective in determining whether a person has H. pylori or not. The next test is a blood test which is used to measure antibodies to H. pylori. The test can only tell if a person has H. pylori antibodies but it cannot tell if the person currently have the infection or how long they have had the infection. The blood test cannot be used to see if the infection has been cured after treatment. The third type of test is the stool test that can detect traces of H. pylori in the feces. The stool test can be used to diagnose the infection and confirm that it has been cured after the treatment. The fourth type of test is a biopsy (a tissue sample) that is taken from the stomach lining and a biopsy is the most accurate way to tell if a person has H. pylori. To remove the tissue sample from the lining of the stomach the person has to go through a procedure called an endoscopy and this procedure is done in the hospital. We valuepeople with self centered and lack of empathy not because we value these qualities within the person, but we look up to the people that are revolting against the systems and cycles of poverty and pain that we are trapped in. Young children in impoverished areas look up to gang members because they see that even though they started from nothing, as they did, they became part of something that stands up to the idea that all they will ever be is at the bottom of the food chain, picking up the scraps others have left behind. For this reason, it s easy to see why these common thugs are idolised, they have respect and this is something that every person wants, especially people that aren t given any. However, it does not do us any good to look up to people that slip through the cracks of the system, but rather we should try to change the system so this build up of resentment between different facets of society does not ... • 38. Comparing Grimm’s Fairytale Snow White to Snow White, by... As a child, I was told fairytales such as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs every night before I went to sleep. Fairytales are an adventurous way to expand a child s imagination and open their eyes to experience a new perspective. Modernizations of fairytales typically relate to a specific audience, such as adolescence, and put a contemporary spin on the old aged tale. Instead of using whimsical themes heavily centered in nature, the contemporary poems connect with the reader in a more realistic everyday scenario. Also, many modernizations are written in poetic form to help reconstruct a flow in the piece and to develop or sometimes completely change the meaning from that of the original fairytale. On the third attempt, the old hag is successful and upon biting in to a deliciously plump red apple sends Snow White tumbling to the ground. The seven dwarves decide Snow White is to captivating to be buried underground so they decided to encase her in glass and take turns guarding her remains. One day a handsome prince happens to come across the beautiful dead princess and begs the dwarves to let him purchase her. Salinger and Igby Goes Down by Burr Steers are both displayed as rites of passage texts. The respective protagonists of these two texts are Igby Slocumb and Holden Caulfield. These two characters are both on a journey motif, a journey of self discovery in which they both attempt to find meaning in life and understand societies values and attitudes. The two protagonists demonstrate non conformity and rebel against the apparent hypocrisy present in their respective societies. By Holden admitting to his lying habits, he provides the responder with reason to believe that he applies a faГ§ade by expressing false pretences. This quotation also provides the audience with reason to think that Holden is not mentally healthy; this literary technique is called foreshadowing. The rebellious attitudes demonstrated by both Holden and Igby represent their attitudes to the concept of hypocrisy. Igby and Holden have similar values and beliefs which reject this idea of illuding reality. Holden rejects all materialistic value and success which corroborates with Igby s attitudes in rejecting the American Dream in which his Godfather, D.H., has achieved. Neither of these two characters view, so called success, the way that the rest of society does. Another aspect of the respective texts is how the two protagonists display their individuality in order to separate themselves from everyone else, they desire to be unique. This perception of reality is articulated through the symbolism in The Catcher In The Rye and the wardrobe and lighting features utilised throughout the movie Igby Goes Down. The basic earnings per share and the diluted earnings per share have both increased over the last four years, but both decreased ever so slightly in the current year. The game of golf is riddled with physics concepts governing everything from the power generated in the swing, to every impact with the ball, to even the motion of the ball in the air and on the ground. Everything is governed by and can be explained by physics concepts. However, this paper will focus on the impact of the clubface and the ball (governed by Newtonian physics) and then its subsequent flight in the air as a projectile. We will look at both the first and second laws that Isaac Newton proposed as well as the resulting equations and concepts that come into effect when the ball is launched. The paper will conclude with a brief aside on the history surrounding the golf ball and its evolution, and subsequently why (in terms of physics) the golf ball embodies a very unique and well known physical form. Apparent in this personal example is the presence of two critical arguments of the text. First and foremost, the quote draws a contrast between two generations and highlights the fact that they are in some respects, exponentially different. Thus, Friedman is able to reinforce his claims of how rapidly changing the world truly is. Secondly, he uses this example of drastic change occurring from one generation to the next to reference on of the driving forces or catalysts. To clarify, the reference to China and India s population as eager for a job opportunity indirectly reemphasizes the effects of the spread of information as well as the strength of outsourcing. From this quote, the reader gathers that individuals outside of their home state have the ability to do their job and will do so without ever having to step into their country. Again, Friedman puts into context the vast contribution that the web and other information sharing technologies have given the globe.
