The United States Effect on Puerto Rican Music Essay
The United States Effect on Puerto Rican Music The United States played an important role in the
evolution of Puerto Rican culture, more specifically music. While Puerto Rican culture remains
distinct from that of American culture, its historical progression is forever tied with that of the United
States. This is evident in the evolution of Puerto Rican music. It is also evident in the experience of
Puerto Rican musicians both on the island and in the Diaspora. U.S rule was in part responsible for
Puerto Rican migration both within the island and off the island. This is so due to the political and
economic relationship between Puerto Rico and the United States. As a result new ... Show more

As the island s regional populations transformed due to these migrations, older forms of music
declined, and new variations of music were created with new content and context. Other U.S.
influenced factors contributing to this situation were trade routes, and advances in transportation and
roadbuilding. These new variations of Puerto Rican music became part of Puerto Rican culture. Yet,
had it not been for United States interference in the lives of Puerto Ricans, these particular musical
forms never would have developed.
United States rule gave rise to municipal bands in Puerto Rico. Under U.S. colonialism, the Catholic
Church in Puerto Rico decreased in power. As a result, composers and musicians who found work and
publicity through church sponserings of their bands no longer had this as a option. Regimental bands
also disappeared under U.S. rule. Therefore, musicians and composers had to form municipal bands as
a means of displaying their talents, making a living on the island, and training future generations of
musicians.
The United States also made direct contributions to the music itself. U.S. soldiers brought with them
one steps, two steps, and rags. Local musicians made new musical works under the influence of these
models brought by the Americans, and sometimes combined them with older forms of music.
As time went on, the United States further dictated the terms under which music

Empire Rising Character Analysis
Michael Briody, one of the bravest characters in Empire Rising, has a history of fighting for Britain in
World War I and also for the IRA during the Irish Civil War. Having a history of violence made him
perfect for moving to New York and becoming an assassin for the IRA. Briody works on the Empire
State Building to cover his illegal action with the IRA. He will later realize the significance of
working on the building. The building gives Briody the chance to figure out what he really seeks for in
life. Later in the novel he falls in love with Grace Masterson as they share a familiar past. His love
towards Grace helps him want to make a change in his life and leave all of his devastating past behind.
Through Briody s tough battles and love for Grace, he realized that he would want to find a change in
his life. Briody develops a considerable passion working on the Empire State Building. He labels the
feeling as crazy, but loves knowing that he s part of building something real for people to admire.
Most people might think it s crazy, but I love the work... (189) This quote further explains how Briody
develops the dedication making it the only thing he looked forward to in the day. The dedication he
has creates the personality of being a hard worker. There came a point in the novel where regardless
any injuries was willing to work. Working on the building was dangerous, even when Briody smashed
his finger, it was no excuse for him to miss work. This brings to believe that

Egypt And The Muslim Influence On Eating
Egypt and the Muslim Influence on Eating
Maquelin Santana
Hudson County Community College
Abstract
This paper explores the religion, history, and food culture of Egypt. It discusses the geographic setting
and environment that affects the food availability and water supply for the Muslims. The distinct
eating and dietary habits are explained and how they have evolved into modern society. Also, Egypt s
national food is listed along with the history behind it. Lastly, the paper explores the different holiday
and religious celebrations that Muslims celebrate and what foods are consumed during each feast.
Egypt and the Muslim Influence on Eating
Along with other variables that effect the Muslim diet, religion has had a big influence on Egyptian
eating habits. The distinct eating and dietary habits of Muslims helped to create a rich blend of
cuisines that have evolved into modern society. Many of the foods that were consumed in ancient
Egypt, are still consumed in households today.
The Arab Republic of Egypt is located in the northeastern region of Africa. The climate is arid and dry
and most of the country receives less than one inch of rain fall per year. The widespread lack of
rainfall makes it extremely difficult to grow crops. Egypt has no forests and only 2 percent of the land
is arable (land that can be farmed). The Nile was the giver of life for the ancient Egyptians. The Nile
River, the longest river in the world, provided water to drink and fish like

Canagarajah Analysis
There are a couple of authors that I agree with. I first would like to share why Canagarajah is the
author who I mostly agree with before the other one. Her intention to write her statement was to have
both evangelicals and non evangelicals dialogue in the TESOL field. She mentioned that post
positivist scholars are tired of being stereotyped. On the other hand, believers feel rejected because
they have pawned their attitudes and values to one way. Canagarajah offered on her statement what
other authors did not. On her statement she did not lean to one particular side, Christian or non
Christian. Instead, she politely exposed both sides on the plate. She asked a number of questions to
why do Christians hinder and do not attend non Christian ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He described great points with respect, empathy, and sincerity. However, I disagree with his
confrontation questions against Christians who believe in the Almighty God. He says, I have no inking
why some people believe (I almost wrote, choose to believe, but that would be to beg the question...in
the existence of a supernatural creator of the world in which I live (p. 21). His statement describing
the importance of respect, empathy and sincerity can make a better world. But, how can creation not
surrender to the Creator of the universe the Almighty God. How can mere people have good deeds
without knowing the one Who is good. I do not agree with Edge pointing fingers instead I would like
to refer to him a quote, Wishing spirituality would die away is not helpful (Canagarajah, S, 2009, p.

Year Round Schooling Essay
Year Round Schooling The education system in the United States is an ever evolving institution. As a
country we have progressed from one room schoolhouses, to segregated classrooms, to online learning
environments. Congress is constantly passing legislation to better our public school systems and
minimize costs to taxpayers. Individual states have also implemented various new systems to try and
maximize their education potential. One such alternative is year round schooling. Year round
schooling has become increasingly popular over the past few decades and is still a rapidly growing
trend.

While one group is on break, the rest of the groups are in school, and they continue to rotate so that as
many students as possible can attend. In a four track school district, student capacity is increased by
33%. In an extended year system, the required number of days that children must attend school is
increased from 180 to up to 240.
There is also another calendar alternative that can be implemented in school systems: school wide and
school within a school calendars. In a school wide calendar, all of the students follow the same
yearlong schedule. But in the school within a school calendar, half of the students are on a yearlong
calendar and the other half are on the traditional nine month calendar. This type of system has been
implemented in several school districts in North Carolina.
Some schools (such as Timber Lane school in Virginia) that follow yearlong calendars also offer
classes during the intercession breaks. These classes can be voluntary for students who want to get
ahead or learn a new or interesting skill, or they can be mandatory for students who struggle and need
the time to catch up on the material learned during the year. Regardless of the reason for attending,
both teachers and students view intercession classes as a positive aspect of the year round school
system.
There are many other reasons why year round schooling is beneficial to students. Schools that attend

Management Style At Arizona Central Credit Union
Organizational Management Approach Analysis
The management approach of any one organization is unique and varied based on the needs of the
business or the type of organization. When developing this management approach, in my opinion, it is
critical to adapt and to use many sources of knowledge to be successful. These sources of knowledge
can be traced to historical theories that have been developed throughout recent history, and are critical
to the understanding of how practical applications can be successfully used. It is also argued that
modern students of management do not have the practical understanding or awareness of these
historical theories because of the misguided curriculum and lack of interest (Cummings Bridgman,
2011). The purpose of this paper approaches some historical theories in comparison to the modern
management style within a credit union to demonstrate the use of these theories as a management tool.
Management Style at Arizona Central Credit Union
The management style at Arizona Central Credit Union, one of my former employers, is complex and
varies between the departments both by design and by regulation. The credit union and its
management team draws from various historical and contemporary approaches and theories to help the

of Chair of Harvard Business School s Advanced Management program ( Faculty and Research ).
Gulati focuses his research on the leadership, strategy, and organizational issues in business firms and
customer focused organizations. He studies leadership and strategic challenges that businesses face
when trying to build and expand their organizations in today s chaotic markets. Gulati understood
early on that as the economy evolved, the leadership strategies and priorities also needed to evolve in
order to continue progression and success nationally and globally. He based his teaching syllabi on
that basic idea of long term resilient success. Gulati focused his research and his teaching on exploring
the best way that managers can stay on track and change their practices to stay successful in a
dwindling economy as well as a thriving one. His research has followed many companies and he has
studied these companies for years to document how each one remained successful and continued to
compete in the growing market. The basic leadership strategies are becoming different than they were
generations before. A new way of thinking and managing is becoming the norm in the 21st century.
There is a greater demand from consumers as well as a larger spectrum of competition in the market.

A Brief Note On British Literature And Composition
Akshat Piprottar British Literature and Composition Mr. McRae Essay #1 Doublethink in 1984
Hungry for absolute dominance over their people, the totalitarian government known as the Party
implements various tools, whether physical or ideological, into the common man. One of these tools is
the idea of doublethink, where, holding both the absolute truth and the truth implanted by the Party in
their minds, any given person can believe two contradicting ideas at once. George Orwell, the author
of 1984, successfully shows the reader how doublethink cannot be practiced. In one of the plentiful
scenes where O Brien tortures Winston, Winston fails to doublethink properly. Between the electric
shocks, O Brien, holding up four fingers, asks Winston to count how many fingers. Trying to instill the
value of doublethink in Winston, O Brien actually further demonstrates how flawed doublethink is.
Winston suppose[s] there are four (288), trying to see five if I [Winston] could . Winston says he really
wants to see them [the five fingers] , yet he still fails. After an electric shock, Winston experiences a
vision of a forest of fingers... moving in a sort of dance . Orwell uses a metaphor for Winston s state of
thought; his hazy vision is really just uncertainty in his mind. Trying desperately to see five fingers,
Winston still can only either see four fingers or a hazy in between. There is no way for him to see both
four and five fingers at the same time. Orwell uses this very literal

Wall-E versus Feed on Society
Technological progress has merely provided us with more efficient means for going backwards (
Brainy Quotes 1). While this epitomizes modern time, it also represents M.T. Anderson s Feed and
Pixar s Wall E. Feed is a book about a dystopian society influenced by a device, called feed ,
implanted in the brains of the citizens. The author describes a group of regular teenagers that venture
to the moon for a spring break vacation of partying and going in mal . The main character, Titus, falls
for a girl named Violet who is not like the other stereotypical teens in this book. Violet received the
feed when she was much older and she is homeschooled so her brain is more developed. Together,
they go on outrageous adventures until a hacker at a dance club causes them to lose their feeds.
Unfortunately for Violet, repairing her feed was practically impossible; meaning, Violet was slowly
dying. Together, Titus and Violet question society, feed, and the way of life as they create their journey
in the book, Feed. In Pixar s Wall E, the world has been abandoned by all of humanity because of the
over polluted atmosphere. However, one creature still exists on earth, a garbage collecting robot
named Wall E. One day, a futuristic, well developed robot arrives on earth inspecting the earth of any
species of life. Wall E falls in love with the robot, Eve, and when she returns home on her spaceship,

She was left behind, forgotten in a sense, and trampled when ants swarmed and took over the village.
Orleanna, her own mother, didn t save her. But instead of citing Adah s disabilities as the reason for
not saving her, she instead tells Ruth May, the youngest of the four daughters and was saved by
Orleanna, that she was saved over Adah because she was the younger of the two. Adah fought with all

Nathan that he will help convert the village people, baptize them, and have them become part of his

Andrew Braaksma s On The Road Essay
As Andrew Braaksma works at a factory in his article, Some Lessons from the Assembly Line, he

the difference between himself and both his peers at school and coworkers at the factory. This journey
he makes, working at the factory every summer, is represented by the book he has Jack Kerouac s On

to this book, Braaksma seems to be discovering himself as well and learning important lessons about
the world, such as, how lucky I am to get an education, how to work hard, how easy it is to lose that

Compass And Straightedge
Compass and Straightedge: Basic Constructions and Limitations In Euclid s Elements, Book 1, the
very first proposition states, To construct an equilateral triangle on a given finite straight line.
(Heiberg, Fitzpatrick, Euclid, pg 8) This proposition is saying that it is possible to construct an
equilateral triangle from a given segment. Euclid was able to perform this construction with just a
straightedge and compass. As The Elements was published in 300 BC (Heiberg, Fitzpatrick, Euclid, pg
4) only the most basic tools had been invented. The straightedge Euclid used the Euclidean ruler, used
only the draw the straight line through any two points (Martin, pg 6). There were no markings on the
straightedge, unlike modern rulers. The compass ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With modern tools such as a protractor and marked ruler, this question is easy to do. However, it is
more difficult with only a straightedge and compass. For thousands of years people tried to solve this
problem and either ended up with an inexact construction or they had to use other tools than the
Euclidean tools. Finally in 1837 Pierre Laurent Wantzel, a French mathematicians, solved the problem
(Major, Jost, pg 81). It turns out that in general it is impossible to trisect any angle, but there are cases,
for example 90 degrees and 180 degrees, that can be trisected with a straightedge and compass
(Courant, Robbins, pg 147). The degrees that can be trisected come from the n gons that are
constructible from a compass and straightedge. An example of this is an equilateral triangle. The
angles are 60 degrees, which is a third of 180 degrees. But in general, most angles cannot be trisected.
To prove that in general it is impossible to trisect an angle, it suffices to show that one angle cannot be
trisected. For example take an angle of 60 degrees. Let the angle be denoted by ϴ and cosϴ = y. Need
to find x = cos(ϴ/3). Cosine of ϴ/3 is connected to cosϴ=y=4〖cos〗^3(ϴ/3) 3cos(ϴ/3) Thus
trisecting an angle with cosϴ = y comes to 〖4z〗^3 3z y=0. Then take ϴ =60 degrees, and y =
cos(60) = 1/2. Thus 〖8z〗^3 6z= 0. There is no rational number that satisfies z, thus the general
holds, and it is impossible to trisect an angle (Courant, Robbins, pg

Topic 1A) The Python of the Kingdom Animalia, Phylum Chordata, Class Reptilia, Order Squamata,
Family Phythonidae is vertebrate with several diverse species (spp.) (Banks, 2004).
Topic 1B) The Python spp. is classified with Kingdom Animalia because they re heterotrophs and
exhibit motility. The Python spp. descendent from a chordata because they have a spine and backbone
developed from the notochord and dorsal nerve cord. The Python spp. is cold blooded species and
covered in scales. They have embryos or eggs that are covered by an amniotic membrane. All
phylogenetics are consistent with their relationship to lizards around 150 million years ago in the late
Jurassic Period (Strauss, 2016).
Topic 1C) There are different species of Pythons so their environments vary. The P. molurus bivittatus
inhabit Southeast Asia in jungles and grassy marshes (Society, 2014). The P. regius lives in Africa
adapting into farmland or grassland savannah. Most Python spp. are native to parts of Asia and Africa
(Gorzula, 1997). Some of the Python spp. swim and water features are important to their environment
such as the P. bivittatus. Juvenile P. bivittatus spent most of the time inhabiting trees but as adults, they
increase in size and weight will shift their habitat to the ground (Society, 2014). P. anchietae inhabits

Monetary Policy During The Great Depression Essay example
Monetary Policy During The Great Depression
One of the most important aspects of the Great Depression that stands out in economists minds is the
surge of bank panics and failures during the depression s onset (1930 1933). However, an institution
created with the intention of preventing such a string of disasters failed to fulfill its obligation as a
lender of last resort. This is the Fed, and its failure to prevent the early bank panics of the Great
Depression is a very interesting economic issue. So why did the Fed fail to fulfill its duty? The reason
for the Fed s actions (or lack thereof) was a combination of the strict elitist leadership in the Fed and
the results of adaptive expectations on immature monetary policy. ... Show more content on

systems responsibility (Friedman 358). This is the first example of the Fed s apathetic and elitist
attitude; this attitude prevented them from seeing that bank panics are contagious. If the public looses
confidence in the system because it knows the Fed will not help them, this will only cause more runs
on banks. The truth is that the Fed was every bit as responsible for the bank panics as poor bank
management was. The Fed did not want to admit to this, and so further separated itself by declaring
that non member banks were not its problem either (Friedman 358). From 1921 to 1930 most failed
banks were non members. The Fed felt no responsibility for these banks, and this is proved by the fact
that directors meeting minutes during this time are only concerned with the failures of member banks;
they didn t even discuss the closing of non member banks (Friedman). The lack of the Fed s action on
non member banks is also interesting because the Fed was created largely in response to the bank
panics of 1907, a time when all

The New Public Management Approach to Regulations
Laws, laws, laws, are something that America has strived to uphold over the years in order to be
successful. That will be the first subject of our questions today. I will give insight to whether NPM can
coincide in a regulatory environment where legal and political approaches are often controlling. In
order to answer this question, we must first look at what actually foster s the regulatory environment.
Since the origins of regulations here in America, I believe federal organizations have had the very best
intentions. During the industrial revolution, America was dramatically changed forever. From an
economical and technological standpoint, we would never interact the same way again. The text
illustrates a fantastic point about agriculture stating, We depend upon farmers and food handlers;
however, we do not personally know these individuals. (Rosenbloom) During the Industrial
Revolution, markets just became too unpredictable; therefore, the federal government decided to step
in to become that third party watch dog. Personally, it is only fair that a third party looks out for our
safety. Most of the time we think of federal regulation as product safety, however, it is much more
than that. Government regulations are involved in several different sectors, including: market failure,
environmental protection, employment regulation, administration of regulation, political patterns,
majoritarian politics, interest group politics, client politics, entrepreneurial politics, and

Assess The Importance Of Carbohydrates
Carbohydrates:
It is recommended that at least 50 60% of your daily calorie intake comes from carbohydrates. This
about 4 5kg of carbohydrates per kilogram of body weight for the average person. This would be more
depending on the amount of exercise that each person does.
Carbohydrates are either starches or sugars. Starchy foods, especially those that are unrefined such as
whole grain bread, rice, pasta, cereals and potatoes, provide a steady supply of energy. However, these
foods can be filling. To achieve optimal carbohydrate stores, the sportsperson may need to top up with
sugary sources that are more rapidly absorbed like sweets, dried fruit, fruit juice, and sugary or sports
drinks. Fats:
Fats provide a good and concentrated source of energy and it the most predominant fuel for low
intensity activity. If you eat less fat you can eat more carbohydrates. A typical UK diet consists of 40%
the total calorie intake being from fats. However it is recommended that this fat intake is kept between
30 35%. And also for those who are taking part in regular exercise they must low this further. ... Show

Sources of protein may come from meat, fish, eggs and dairy products. Large amounts of protein will
not improve performance or muscle mass. That can only be achieved with the appropriate and specific

average UK diet significantly exceeds the Dietary Reference Value nutrient intake for protein set at 45

It is recommended by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) that the protein intake should be

Should Mountaintop Removal Be Banned
Since the 1970s, mountaintop removal continues to destroy millions of acres of land and hundreds of
mountains primarily in eastern Kentucky, southern West Virginia, southwestern Virginia, and eastern
Tennessee. That leaves many communities who are near mountaintop removal sites threatened by the
explosions and the toxic waste that can potentially harm them. Mountaintop removal also has a big
impact deforestation which can cause global warming and lead to many endangered species.
Mountaintop removal should be banned because it involves permanent deforestation, it harms local
communities by using explosives near their community and destroying their drinking water, and it
harms the climate by emitting carbon dioxide from burning coal.
One of the reasons why it should be banned is because it involves permanent deforestation. According
to the Appalachian Voices Organization, This means not only lost wildlife habitat, but also the steady

mountaintop removal site. Many people only realize how cheap and more efficient it is compared to
other coal mining strategies and think it s safe because miners don t have to risk going underground to

Rabbit Proof Fence Dehumanization
In the film Rabbit Proof Fence (Fence), director Philip Noyce has portrayed the extended effects of the
cruel treatment of the half caste children. This is done through evidence of physical and sexual abuse,
the dehumanization of the Indigenous children, and the forced cultural assimilation of the taken
Aboriginal children. Therefore the statement is true to a large extent, however the ways in which
Noyce does this are occasionally ambiguous and vague. Throughout the film the dehumanization and
animalization of the Indigenous peoples is an especially prevalent theme, and is featured many times.
The cruelty inflicted into the Aboriginal children is shown to have long term effects on them (again
shown through how Mavis is very scared in her adult years). These effects can also be seen through
Moodoo s experiences, working for Mr. Neville in an attempt to get his daughter out of the Moore
River camp. These examples are not the only ones throughout the movie, symbolizing how the
Aboriginals are treated much in the same way as livestock or animals. Also shown through having the
half caste children referred to as a third unwanted race ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

fairer skinned children in the camp are chosen by Mr. Neville and are taken away to live with
European families, to eventually contribute to the project Mr. Neville is trying to accomplish (making
the next generations of the Indigenous children whiter and upgrading them to white status). However

Art Vs Visual Art
Visual art as we know it today is completely different from what had been created before the 20th
century. Realistic depictions of the surrounding reality has given up its place in favor of attempts to
convey the artist s inner world directly through the diversity of shapes, colors, and means of visual
depiction. Hence, a reasonable question arises: how should one evaluate pieces of modern art given
that traditional criteria of assessment do not apply easily in this case? Unlike traditional art, where one
can make judgments about the scene, an artist s skills, and composition, modern art should be
evaluated in a slightly different manner. Even though there are numerous artistic laws and rules, any
assessment made about a piece of art remains subjective; I believe one can easily explain why
someone likes a particular piece of art, but will not be able to persuade those who disagree with them
or have no artistic taste. Considering this, let us refer to Scream a famous painting by Edward Munch.
Though it was painted more than 110 years ago, it still makes a perfect example of modern art.
Personally, I usually evaluate paintings by their lucidity, strength of artistic means (such as
composition, coloring, and so on), and the creator s ability to communicate with the audience through
a canvas. Despite its expressionistic, distorted shapes and disturbing colors (which will be discussed
later) Scream is still a realistic painting, performed in an expressionist manner. Its

Methylmercury In Canada
Background
In a neoliberalist economy, a pluralist model of healthcare is adopted. Consequently, the high powers
often sing while vulnerable populations are left with inequitable consideration for health 1. This is
exemplified in arctic regions of Canada where health status is considerably lower compared to the
Canadian population. In these regions, cultural, socioeconomic and difficulty in access create sizable
barriers that require significant investment of human and capital resource to overcome. Not only is
resource availability limited but also there are numerable negative health outcomes associated with
long range pollution transportation. Pollutants can travels thousands of kilometers through air and
water currents that trend toward Arctic regions. Although there are numerous pollutants of concern,
mercury is particularly noxious. Mercury is a heavy metal, d block element understood to be a potent
neurotoxin 2. In exposed populations, extensive neurotoxic effects are observed ranging from
developmental delays to death. It is well known that individuals residing near mercury producing
plants experience exposure well above the recommended guidelines 3. One such example is the

What Is The Difference Between Beowulf Book And Movie
Beowulf was a book composed during the Anglo Saxon period of the world. It is a fictional about an
epic hero know as Beowulf who kills mighty creatures and saves kingdoms from opposing armies and
demons. This hero was from part of a tribe of a tribe known as the Gaets. In this story he comes to the
aid of the Danes and their king Hrothgar. He battles multiple creatures for the Danish king and his
helpless people during his time in the kingdom. He was seen as a hero their and feared throughout the
surrounding kingdoms. In this essay i will compare and contrast the Beowulf movie and the book. I

There are many differences between the two such as setting, characters, and the organization of the
storyline. In the book they start out at in Danish kingdom and switch the Gaet s kingdom with the
return of Beowulf. But in the movie the setting is always in the Danish kingdom. The stories are
similar because they both start out at Herot hall in the Danish kingdom. As far as characters go Wiglaf,
Beowulf, and Hrothgar all have the same character roles in both the storylines. But in the movie there
is not a character named Aschere like in the book. Instead Unferth s role as a Gaet in the book is
opposite for the movie. Grendel was killed the same way when Beowulf tears his arm off. For
example the mom wasn t killed in the movie and she became Beowulf s lover. In the movie Hrothgar
is Grendel s dad but not in the book. In the book Wiglaf deals the final blow to the dragon with his
sword but in the movie Beowulf rips its heart out. In both the book and movie Beowulf is showered
with treasure and honor from the grateful Danes. Also he is buried or sent away with his treasure in
both of the storylines. Unferth doubts Beowulf s ability to fight the monster but ends up giving him his
sword as a token of gratitude in both of the stories. In the movie Hrothgar kills himself but we don t
know how he dies in the book. But the man key difference is Beowulf being the king of the Danes and

Closing cycles, shutting doors, ending chapters whatever name we give it, what matters is to leave in
the past the moments of life that have finished. Did you lose your job? Has a loving relationship come
to an end? Did you leave your parents house? Gone to live abroad? Has a long lasting friendship
ended all of a sudden? You can spend a long time wondering why this has happened. You can tell
yourself you won t take another step until you find out why certain things that were so important and
so solid in your life have turned into dust, just like that. But such an attitude will be awfully stressing
for everyone involved: your parents, your husband or wife, your friends, your children, your sister.
Everyone is finishing chapters, turning over new leaves, getting on with life, and they will all feel bad
seeing you at a standstill. Things pass, and the best we can do is to let them really go away. That is
why it is so important (however painful it may be!) to destroy souvenirs, move, give lots of things
away to orphanages, sell or donate the books you have at home. Everything in this visible world is a
manifestation of the invisible world, of what is going on in our hearts and getting rid of certain
memories also means making some room for other memories to take their place. Let things go.
Release them. Detach yourself from them. Nobody plays this life

The New Technology in Google and Microsoft
With the growth of the Internet, and the popularity of Software as a Service, many applications that
have traditionally been used offline have moved into the cloud. Companies providing on demand
service through the Internet have reinvigorated one of the most iconic pieces of computer software,
the productivity suite. Two such providers are Microsoft and Google. Through their Office 365 and
Google Apps services, respectively, businesses can leverage the benefits of cloud without having to
worry about the large upfront cost that productivity software used to incur. Microsoft, an industry
leader with their Office suite of software products for over two decades, now offers much of the same
functionality through the Internet with Office 365. Whereas their products would previously cost over
a hundred dollars per user up front, Microsoft offers Office 365 for as little as $5 per user per month.
Some of the features that it includes are business class email, web conferencing, a public website, file
sharing, shared calendars, and web versions of the most popular components of Office (Word, Excel,
PowerPoint, and OneNote) ( Compare Office, n.d.). The company also offers, for a small amount
more, the ability to get access to its desktop based applications as well. This makes it an attractive
option for those companies that may still be transitioning to the cloud, or for those who still rely on a
particular part of the Office suite (Access, Publisher, etc.). In contrast, Google is

From the Romans historic statement information The plebeians could, it is true, still vote in the

the costs associated with the traditional hiring process. To save some money in the process of hiring,
every company need to follow some key ways like develop the employee referral program, turn their
career site into a talent community and mash able job board listings. Here are the few reasons for
hiring a good and dedicated team: Facilitates better communication. Motivates employees. Promotes
creativity. Develops problem solving skills. Breaks the barrier. 2. Required resources: Most of the
companies are eager to engage in testing, but if they don t have their proper resources which is one of
the fastest ways to see the program to fail. Even though the team have some good ideas, they cannot
rectify the errors and execute them without the proper required resources. So, maintain the required

during the analysis or development phase there are some defects. To save the time and money, first list

are resolved and the output will be good. 4. Documentation: Every project needs documentation.

Fall is the time of year in which individuals see that not only do people and lives change, but nature

In the past twenty years, the world we call our home has changed, and continues to change,
drastically:
Global temperature has risen six tenths of a degree in those 20 years. Population has increased by 1.7

police were led to Bernardo by a police sketch ( Serial Killers: Paul Bernardo and Karla Homolka,
2013). The police took DNA (hair, blood and saliva) from Bernardo as a matter of routine to test it

The Industrial Revolution Of Maryland By Lewis W. Hine And...
Following the end of the American Civil war, the Industrial Revolution came rushing in and brought
with it tremendous changes the mechanization of agriculture, the invention of steam and electricity
used machinery led to mass production factories, and the emergence of a massive railroad system.
Change in the economy and society brought great wealth to the United States. Consequently, it was a
giant magnet for immigrations. However, the distribution of wealth across the population was not
even. The American working class in the last half of nineteenth century suffered from poverty and
oppression. Several documentations and stories were written in response to the people suffering. Two
of them Child Labor in The Canning Industry of Maryland by Lewis W. Hine and Maggie: A Girl of
The Streets by Stephen Crane vividly described the living and working conditions for the working
poor. In the period of 1860 1900, the majority of the working class, including native born and
immigrants, clustered in two largest industrial areas: the North East industrial cities and the West
agriculture farms. In the West, agricultures were dominated by land and railroad companies. Although
the farming industry grew simultaneously, workers life did not improve. In fact, they faced many
hardships such as severe oppression from their owners, unfair payment for their work, and serious lack
of education for their children. In his 1909 report, Lewis H. Hine revealed the harsh working condition

Comparing Satire In Saturday Night Live And The Late Show
Political Satire: Both Amusing and Informative
Political satire is the use of humor, sarcasm, or ridicule to criticize politician s vices. Most satire today
is political. Comedians have become our truth tellers. When it comes to politics, news and satire go
together like peanut butter and jelly. Shows including: NBC s Saturday Night Live and CBS s The
Late Show with Stephen Colbert showcase political satire the best of them all. The main questions are:
does satire relay new well and does satire make for a reliable news source?
Stephen Colbert is known to be the king of satire. His late night show is popular for his use of satire to
convey the news. He is so good at his satire that people on all sides of the political debate find him
funny. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Humor is a big part of my life, and I find what is life without a good laugh. I have watched both
Saturday Night Live and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. I find them both very funny and I did
learn some things from watching them. I find normal news to be lacking enjoyment. They are frankly
boring.
Satire requires a lot of interpretation. No one quite has the same opinions on what is trying to be
conveyed by such satire. Some people think satire is rude and crosses the line. For others, it is easier
to comprehend more serious political topics when humor is involved. Satire can be helpful to some in
the transmission of information. I agree completely with this. Humor helps grab the attention of
viewers and make the experience more enjoyable. I find it easier to watch the SNL skits mocking the
debate over the real deal. Yes, they may be making fun of people, but I unapologetically find that
funny. In my opinion there is a reason these people are victims of satire.
Whether it is political or just plain old satire, comicality adds a lot to new segments. There is not one
person who doesn t enjoy a good laugh. Satire allows people to both receive the news and laugh at the
same time. It is like the best of both worlds. Comedians may have become our truth tellers, but I m not
complaining. I like the way satire and news mesh

My First Goal As A Man Of Value
My whole life I have always wanted to be a man of success and a man of value. I had many goals
when I was young, and two of those goals are very dear to me. My first goal was to become a
successful entrepreneur like my father. And second goal was to come to America and get an education
from any university here, which I am currently working on. From my parents, I learned that I needed
education in order for me to succeed throughout life. Since I was a very young man I have always
valued and tried to get the best education there is. I come from a very strong business family, I have
always focused my interest for my career in marketing and advertising. My father owns his own
company, and he is constantly traveling and I am a person who love traveling, which inspires me to
follow that path.
Since I was young, I have been learning new things. These lessons were formal as found in academic
studies, and I had jobs, through those jobs I had additional training, personal learning, and in the
pursuit of my own interest and hobbies. Despite on where or how I got knowledge, how we approach
learning is very different to each individual based on learning styles. As very different individuals we
all learn differently. Some people learn by actually touching the subject, some by hearing, and some
seeing. Through this paper I will talk about my personal reflection of my learning style. Through the
essay I will talk about my strength and my weaknesses and talk about some opportunities

Personal Note On Social Acceptance
Social Acceptance
When starting this personal change project, I found it easy to find a subject for me to change because
it was something that I had wanted to do for a long time. I am a people pleaser. I am controlled by
people s opinion of me. Plain and simple, I want to be accepted. It is exhausting, and not possible. To
begin to change, I had to embrace the reason s I was a people pleaser and needed others acceptance.
Acceptance and Rejection
The need for acceptance always comes with the fear of rejection. The need for acceptance is a
powerful motivator, but the fear of rejection can be even scarier. We can all think of a time where we
were rejected, and when thinking on that memory, and I bet you can still feel the sting. Fear of ...

Need to belong
Nathan DeWall, a Psychologist at the University of Kentucky says that Humans have a fundamental
need to belong. Just as we have needs for food and water, we also have needs for positive and lasting
relationships. The need to belong can be so strong that we are willing to change who we are just to
belong to a group. Most times it is small changes. For people who are people pleasers, we will go out
of our way to help others, even if that means we are neglecting ourselves, just to get their approval.
Self Esteem and Rejection
According to Geraldine Downey, PH. D., professor of psychology at Columbia University, Research
says that people whose self esteem is lower will experience rejection as more painful, and it ll take
them a little longer to get over it, he says. Meanwhile, those who have higher self esteem but who aren
t narcissists tend to be more resilient. Rejection for someone with low self esteem is more damaging
because they are less resilient to the hurt. A step that I have only begun to work on is my view of
myself. I am not comfortable with who I am. I am always conforming to what others want me to be
because I don t have confidence in my true self. It is easier to be who others want you to be then to be
who you really are. There is less rejection, if you go along with others idea of who you should be.

Futility of Human Existence Exposed in The Guest by...
He who despairs of the human condition is a coward, but he who has hope for it is a fool (Wyatt). As
this quote by Albert Camus suggests, he was not a very optimistic writer. His gloomy look on life
itself can be seen all too clearly in The Guest . The story itself deals with Camus s idea of the futility
of human existence: the only rational thing anyone can expect is death. Camus s underlying
philosophy is revealed from the very beginning of the story. The French title, L hote , translates to
mean both guest and host simultaneously, which implies that the mutually respectful relationship
between the main characters in the story should be applied to mankind everywhere. The story begins
on an auspicious note with the introduction ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Daru asks the prisoner whether he was afraid, he replies by turning his eyes away. When Daru
asks whether he is sorry for the crime he has committed, the Arab stares at him as if he does not
comprehend the words. However, he understands completely the situation that he is in, thus showing
that it is Daru who cannot comprehend why the Arab has murdered his cousin. The history of this
racial conflict dates back to when the French first colonized Algeria. Algeria has undergone many
years of ethnic strife; the French, though they are the minority, dominate the large Arab population.
This clash is further exacerbated by the lack of cultural understanding between the two groups. Daru
cannot fathom a plausible reason for murdering a cousin over a debt of grain. Upon hearing of the
crime, he feels a sudden wrath against the man, against all men with their rotten spite, their tireless
hates, their blood lusts. What he has not taken into account is that it may be perfectly acceptable to the
Arab to kill a relative rather than lose his honor (Thody). Islamic law leaves private [family] matters
alone, but the French view their system as innately superior. Growing up in post colonized Algeria,
Camus was heavily influenced by the conflict between the Europeans and the Arabs. He was torn
within himself: he sympathized with the Muslim population, yet was unable to forgo his ties to the
French. Though he supported pacifism as an end to racially driven conflicts, he could

The Importance Of Government Privacy
The government, that is responsible for protecting citizens, has the power to spy and monitor people.
Sometimes, surveillances are useful for catching criminals. Oftentimes, over monitoring individuals
may violates personal freedoms and sometimes the government over exceeds its boundaries to obtain
personal information. There are four types of privacy related activities that a federal, state, and local
government can have control over. The first activity deals with collection of information of individual
citizens. After the collection of this information, a government may store, manipulate, or use this data
against someone. Third, this collected information may spread to other agencies. Finally, sharing
personal information may disrupt someone s daily activities and solitude. There are various ways in
which the government and law enforcement can gather information of private citizens. For example,
census records collect information about households related to ethnicity, language, marital status, or
lifestyles. Other collection gathering methods like the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) collects names,
social security numbers, income, and assets of each US worker. Some collection records are also
necessary to detect potential criminals. For instance, the FBI National Crime Information Center 2000
(NCIC) contains 13 million records of potential stolen automobiles, stolen license plates, missing
guns, other stolen goods, and missing persons records. Another way to detect

Interview With A Interview Protocol
An interview protocol was utilized in this study. This instrument was designed to keep the face to face
interview on track and effective. So, for that reason, the questions for this interview were determined
by trying to create an instrument that would lead to the answers to the research questions.
An interview protocol with semi structured questions was used with the interview protocol. Likewise,
the data collection consisted of 10 interviews that were conducted during the spring session of 2010.
The interview protocol allowed the participants to express their perceptions and opinions in their own
words. Also, the protocol helped to minimize leading or directing participants to answer the question
in a particular manner. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Questions 7 through 11, 19, and 23 were designed to address Research Question 3: What challenges
do African American female secondary school educators experience with their colleagues in terms of
racist attitudes, salary, and respect issues?
Question 12 through 16, 20, and 24 were designed to address Research Question 4: What challenges
are African American female secondary school educators challenged within their relationship with
their administrator with regard to inequities, gender, and teacher education issues?
After the completion of the face to face interviews, the researcher contacted the participants via the
telephone for a brief thank you and gave the participants the opportunity to express any other thoughts
that they had. The goal of this interview protocol was to allow respondents to tell their own
experiences as seen through the eyes of the participants. Similarly, the primary goal of the interview
protocol was to develop a theory of persevering through the use of semi structured questions, allowing
the participants the flexibility to frame and structure their responses. Not to mention, the fundamental
component of this qualitative research was that the phenomenon under study would unfold through the
participant s eyes.
Data Analysis
The researcher relied heavily on the transcripts for analyzing the data. In light of this, the researcher
employed constant comparison of participants responses with the goal of organizing the data into

Evolution Of Human Evolution
Introduction
The human species has depended on a material culture for millions of years. Without it, humans would
not be able to survive. Many people believe that because we have so many technological
advancements and that humans can build or make anything necessary for their survival. Even with the
current technology and other advancements, research has proven that humans are still evolving. Much
of the evolution that is happening today has to do with the human genome and adapting to current
issues in the world. There has been much research done on the human genome and how it is still
mutating and changing. Natural selection has a big part in how the genome changes. Mutations are
another point to look at when determining if the human species is still evolving. A third point to look
at is gene flow and how that affects different populations. The purpose of this paper is to review
multiple different articles to establish whether or not the human species is currently evolving. The
articles used for this paper confirm that humans continue to evolve. While humans have the
technology and skills to make their environments suit their needs, it can clearly be seen that humans
continue to evolve and adapt.
Review of the Literature
Mutations
Some mutations in an allele increase to a greater frequency in a short period of time due to natural
selection. Examples of this include alleles in the gene for lactase persistence so that adults can break

  • 2. The United States Effect on Puerto Rican Music Essay The United States Effect on Puerto Rican Music The United States played an important role in the evolution of Puerto Rican culture, more specifically music. While Puerto Rican culture remains distinct from that of American culture, its historical progression is forever tied with that of the United States. This is evident in the evolution of Puerto Rican music. It is also evident in the experience of Puerto Rican musicians both on the island and in the Diaspora. U.S rule was in part responsible for Puerto Rican migration both within the island and off the island. This is so due to the political and economic relationship between Puerto Rico and the United States. As a result new ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As the island s regional populations transformed due to these migrations, older forms of music declined, and new variations of music were created with new content and context. Other U.S. influenced factors contributing to this situation were trade routes, and advances in transportation and roadbuilding. These new variations of Puerto Rican music became part of Puerto Rican culture. Yet, had it not been for United States interference in the lives of Puerto Ricans, these particular musical forms never would have developed. United States rule gave rise to municipal bands in Puerto Rico. Under U.S. colonialism, the Catholic Church in Puerto Rico decreased in power. As a result, composers and musicians who found work and publicity through church sponserings of their bands no longer had this as a option. Regimental bands also disappeared under U.S. rule. Therefore, musicians and composers had to form municipal bands as a means of displaying their talents, making a living on the island, and training future generations of musicians. The United States also made direct contributions to the music itself. U.S. soldiers brought with them one steps, two steps, and rags. Local musicians made new musical works under the influence of these models brought by the Americans, and sometimes combined them with older forms of music. As time went on, the United States further dictated the terms under which music ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Empire Rising Character Analysis Michael Briody, one of the bravest characters in Empire Rising, has a history of fighting for Britain in World War I and also for the IRA during the Irish Civil War. Having a history of violence made him perfect for moving to New York and becoming an assassin for the IRA. Briody works on the Empire State Building to cover his illegal action with the IRA. He will later realize the significance of working on the building. The building gives Briody the chance to figure out what he really seeks for in life. Later in the novel he falls in love with Grace Masterson as they share a familiar past. His love towards Grace helps him want to make a change in his life and leave all of his devastating past behind. Through Briody s tough battles and love for Grace, he realized that he would want to find a change in his life. Briody develops a considerable passion working on the Empire State Building. He labels the feeling as crazy, but loves knowing that he s part of building something real for people to admire. Most people might think it s crazy, but I love the work... (189) This quote further explains how Briody develops the dedication making it the only thing he looked forward to in the day. The dedication he has creates the personality of being a hard worker. There came a point in the novel where regardless any injuries was willing to work. Working on the building was dangerous, even when Briody smashed his finger, it was no excuse for him to miss work. • 4. Egypt And The Muslim Influence On Eating Egypt and the Muslim Influence on Eating Maquelin Santana Hudson County Community College Abstract This paper explores the religion, history, and food culture of Egypt. It discusses the geographic setting and environment that affects the food availability and water supply for the Muslims. The distinct eating and dietary habits are explained and how they have evolved into modern society. Also, Egypt s national food is listed along with the history behind it. Lastly, the paper explores the different holiday and religious celebrations that Muslims celebrate and what foods are consumed during each feast. Egypt and the Muslim Influence on Eating Along with other variables that effect the Muslim diet, religion has had a big influence on Egyptian eating habits. The distinct eating and dietary habits of Muslims helped to create a rich blend of cuisines that have evolved into modern society. Many of the foods that were consumed in ancient Egypt, are still consumed in households today. The Arab Republic of Egypt is located in the northeastern region of Africa. The climate is arid and dry and most of the country receives less than one inch of rain fall per year. The widespread lack of rainfall makes it extremely difficult to grow crops. Egypt has no forests and only 2 percent of the land is arable (land that can be farmed). The Nile was the giver of life for the ancient Egyptians. • 5. Canagarajah Analysis There are a couple of authors that I agree with. I first would like to share why Canagarajah is the author who I mostly agree with before the other one. Her intention to write her statement was to have both evangelicals and non evangelicals dialogue in the TESOL field. She mentioned that post positivist scholars are tired of being stereotyped. On the other hand, believers feel rejected because they have pawned their attitudes and values to one way. Canagarajah offered on her statement what other authors did not. On her statement she did not lean to one particular side, Christian or non Christian. Instead, she politely exposed both sides on the plate. She asked a number of questions to why do Christians hinder and do not attend non Christian ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As a country we have progressed from one room schoolhouses, to segregated classrooms, to online learning environments. Congress is constantly passing legislation to better our public school systems and minimize costs to taxpayers. Individual states have also implemented various new systems to try and maximize their education potential. One such alternative is year round schooling. There is also another calendar alternative that can be implemented in school systems: school wide and school within a school calendars. In a school wide calendar, all of the students follow the same yearlong schedule. But in the school within a school calendar, half of the students are on a yearlong calendar and the other half are on the traditional nine month calendar. • 8. Management Style At Arizona Central Credit Union Organizational Management Approach Analysis The management approach of any one organization is unique and varied based on the needs of the business or the type of organization. When developing this management approach, in my opinion, it is critical to adapt and to use many sources of knowledge to be successful. These sources of knowledge can be traced to historical theories that have been developed throughout recent history, and are critical to the understanding of how practical applications can be successfully used. It is also argued that modern students of management do not have the practical understanding or awareness of these historical theories because of the misguided curriculum and lack of interest (Cummings Bridgman, 2011). The purpose of this paper approaches some historical theories in comparison to the modern management style within a credit union to demonstrate the use of these theories as a management tool. Management Style at Arizona Central Credit Union The management style at Arizona Central Credit Union, one of my former employers, is complex and varies between the departments both by design and by regulation. • 10. A Brief Note On British Literature And Composition Akshat Piprottar British Literature and Composition Mr. McRae Essay #1 Doublethink in 1984 Hungry for absolute dominance over their people, the totalitarian government known as the Party implements various tools, whether physical or ideological, into the common man. One of these tools is the idea of doublethink, where, holding both the absolute truth and the truth implanted by the Party in their minds, any given person can believe two contradicting ideas at once. George Orwell, the author of 1984, successfully shows the reader how doublethink cannot be practiced. In one of the plentiful scenes where O Brien tortures Winston, Winston fails to doublethink properly. Between the electric shocks, O Brien, holding up four fingers, asks Winston to count how many fingers. Trying to instill the value of doublethink in Winston, O Brien actually further demonstrates how flawed doublethink is. Winston suppose[s] there are four (288), trying to see five if I [Winston] could . Winston says he really wants to see them [the five fingers] , yet he still fails. After an electric shock, Winston experiences a vision of a forest of fingers... moving in a sort of dance . Orwell uses a metaphor for Winston s state of thought; his hazy vision is really just uncertainty in his mind. Trying desperately to see five fingers, Winston still can only either see four fingers or a hazy in between. There is no way for him to see both four and five fingers at the same time. While this epitomizes modern time, it also represents M.T. Anderson s Feed and Pixar s Wall E. Feed is a book about a dystopian society influenced by a device, called feed , implanted in the brains of the citizens. The author describes a group of regular teenagers that venture to the moon for a spring break vacation of partying and going in mal . The main character, Titus, falls for a girl named Violet who is not like the other stereotypical teens in this book. Violet received the feed when she was much older and she is homeschooled so her brain is more developed. Together, they go on outrageous adventures until a hacker at a dance club causes them to lose their feeds. Unfortunately for Violet, repairing her feed was practically impossible; meaning, Violet was slowly dying. Together, Titus and Violet question society, feed, and the way of life as they create their journey in the book, Feed. In Pixar s Wall E, the world has been abandoned by all of humanity because of the over polluted atmosphere. However, one creature still exists on earth, a garbage collecting robot named Wall E. One day, a futuristic, well developed robot arrives on earth inspecting the earth of any species of life. Compass And Straightedge Compass and Straightedge: Basic Constructions and Limitations In Euclid s Elements, Book 1, the very first proposition states, To construct an equilateral triangle on a given finite straight line. (Heiberg, Fitzpatrick, Euclid, pg 8) This proposition is saying that it is possible to construct an equilateral triangle from a given segment. Euclid was able to perform this construction with just a straightedge and compass. As The Elements was published in 300 BC (Heiberg, Fitzpatrick, Euclid, pg 4) only the most basic tools had been invented. The straightedge Euclid used the Euclidean ruler, used only the draw the straight line through any two points (Martin, pg 6). There were no markings on the straightedge, unlike modern rulers. The compass ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With modern tools such as a protractor and marked ruler, this question is easy to do. However, it is more difficult with only a straightedge and compass. For thousands of years people tried to solve this problem and either ended up with an inexact construction or they had to use other tools than the Euclidean tools. Finally in 1837 Pierre Laurent Wantzel, a French mathematicians, solved the problem (Major, Jost, pg 81). It turns out that in general it is impossible to trisect any angle, but there are cases, for example 90 degrees and 180 degrees, that can be trisected with a straightedge and compass (Courant, Robbins, pg 147). The degrees that can be trisected come from the n gons that are constructible from a compass and straightedge. An example of this is an equilateral triangle. The angles are 60 degrees, which is a third of 180 degrees. But in general, most angles cannot be trisected. To prove that in general it is impossible to trisect an angle, it suffices to show that one angle cannot be trisected. For example take an angle of 60 degrees. Let the angle be denoted by ϴ and cosϴ = y. Need to find x = cos(ϴ/3). Cosine of ϴ/3 is connected to cosϴ=y=4〖cos〗^3(ϴ/3) 3cos(ϴ/3) Thus trisecting an angle with cosϴ = y comes to 〖4z〗^3 3z y=0. Then take ϴ =60 degrees, and y = cos(60) = 1/2. Thus 〖8z〗^3 6z= 0. There is no rational number that satisfies z, thus the general holds, and it is impossible to trisect an angle (Courant, Robbins, pg ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Topic 1B) The Python spp. is classified with Kingdom Animalia because they re heterotrophs and exhibit motility. The Python spp. descendent from a chordata because they have a spine and backbone developed from the notochord and dorsal nerve cord. The Python spp. is cold blooded species and covered in scales. They have embryos or eggs that are covered by an amniotic membrane. All phylogenetics are consistent with their relationship to lizards around 150 million years ago in the late Jurassic Period (Strauss, 2016). Topic 1C) There are different species of Pythons so their environments vary. The P. molurus bivittatus inhabit Southeast Asia in jungles and grassy marshes (Society, 2014). The P. regius lives in Africa adapting into farmland or grassland savannah. Most Python spp. are native to parts of Asia and Africa (Gorzula, 1997). Some of the Python spp. swim and water features are important to their environment such as the P. bivittatus. Juvenile P. bivittatus spent most of the time inhabiting trees but as adults, they increase in size and weight will shift their habitat to the ground (Society, 2014). Monetary Policy During The Great Depression Essay example Monetary Policy During The Great Depression One of the most important aspects of the Great Depression that stands out in economists minds is the surge of bank panics and failures during the depression s onset (1930 1933). However, an institution created with the intention of preventing such a string of disasters failed to fulfill its obligation as a lender of last resort. This is the Fed, and its failure to prevent the early bank panics of the Great Depression is a very interesting economic issue. So why did the Fed fail to fulfill its duty? The reason for the Fed s actions (or lack thereof) was a combination of the strict elitist leadership in the Fed and the results of adaptive expectations on immature monetary policy. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Later it was determined that bank failures were a problem of bank management which was not the systems responsibility (Friedman 358). This is the first example of the Fed s apathetic and elitist attitude; this attitude prevented them from seeing that bank panics are contagious. If the public looses confidence in the system because it knows the Fed will not help them, this will only cause more runs on banks. The truth is that the Fed was every bit as responsible for the bank panics as poor bank management was. The Fed did not want to admit to this, and so further separated itself by declaring that non member banks were not its problem either (Friedman 358). From 1921 to 1930 most failed banks were non members. The Fed felt no responsibility for these banks, and this is proved by the fact that directors meeting minutes during this time are only concerned with the failures of member banks; they didn t even discuss the closing of non member banks (Friedman). The lack of the Fed s action on non member banks is also interesting because the Fed was created largely in response to the bank panics of 1907, a time when all ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

That will be the first subject of our questions today. I will give insight to whether NPM can coincide in a regulatory environment where legal and political approaches are often controlling. In order to answer this question, we must first look at what actually foster s the regulatory environment. Since the origins of regulations here in America, I believe federal organizations have had the very best intentions. During the industrial revolution, America was dramatically changed forever. From an economical and technological standpoint, we would never interact the same way again. The text illustrates a fantastic point about agriculture stating, We depend upon farmers and food handlers; however, we do not personally know these individuals. (Rosenbloom) During the Industrial Revolution, markets just became too unpredictable; therefore, the federal government decided to step in to become that third party watch dog. Personally, it is only fair that a third party looks out for our safety. Most of the time we think of federal regulation as product safety, however, it is much more than that. Government regulations are involved in several different sectors, including: market failure, environmental protection, employment regulation, administration of regulation, political patterns, majoritarian politics, interest group politics, client politics, entrepreneurial politics, and ... This is done through evidence of physical and sexual abuse, the dehumanization of the Indigenous children, and the forced cultural assimilation of the taken Aboriginal children. Therefore the statement is true to a large extent, however the ways in which Noyce does this are occasionally ambiguous and vague. Throughout the film the dehumanization and animalization of the Indigenous peoples is an especially prevalent theme, and is featured many times. Realistic depictions of the surrounding reality has given up its place in favor of attempts to convey the artist s inner world directly through the diversity of shapes, colors, and means of visual depiction. Hence, a reasonable question arises: how should one evaluate pieces of modern art given that traditional criteria of assessment do not apply easily in this case? Unlike traditional art, where one can make judgments about the scene, an artist s skills, and composition, modern art should be evaluated in a slightly different manner. Even though there are numerous artistic laws and rules, any assessment made about a piece of art remains subjective; I believe one can easily explain why someone likes a particular piece of art, but will not be able to persuade those who disagree with them or have no artistic taste. Considering this, let us refer to Scream a famous painting by Edward Munch. Though it was painted more than 110 years ago, it still makes a perfect example of modern art. Personally, I usually evaluate paintings by their lucidity, strength of artistic means (such as composition, coloring, and so on), and the creator s ability to communicate with the audience through a canvas. Despite its expressionistic, distorted shapes and disturbing colors (which will be discussed later) Scream is still a realistic painting, performed in an expressionist manner. Its ... Paul Bernardo s Case Study When Paul Bernardo was a teenager, he became interested in women because of his porn obsession and acted on what he saw through films and magazines ( Paul Bernardo: Criminal Biography, 2017). • 41. The Industrial Revolution Of Maryland By Lewis W. Hine And... Following the end of the American Civil war, the Industrial Revolution came rushing in and brought with it tremendous changes the mechanization of agriculture, the invention of steam and electricity used machinery led to mass production factories, and the emergence of a massive railroad system. Change in the economy and society brought great wealth to the United States. Consequently, it was a giant magnet for immigrations. However, the distribution of wealth across the population was not even. The American working class in the last half of nineteenth century suffered from poverty and oppression. Several documentations and stories were written in response to the people suffering. Two of them Child Labor in The Canning Industry of Maryland by Lewis W. Hine and Maggie: A Girl of The Streets by Stephen Crane vividly described the living and working conditions for the working poor. In the period of 1860 1900, the majority of the working class, including native born and immigrants, clustered in two largest industrial areas: the North East industrial cities and the West agriculture farms. In the West, agricultures were dominated by land and railroad companies. Although the farming industry grew simultaneously, workers life did not improve. In fact, they faced many hardships such as severe oppression from their owners, unfair payment for their work, and serious lack of education for their children. In his 1909 report, Lewis H. Hine revealed the harsh working condition ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Comparing Satire In Saturday Night Live And The Late Show Political Satire: Both Amusing and Informative Political satire is the use of humor, sarcasm, or ridicule to criticize politician s vices. Most satire today is political. Comedians have become our truth tellers. When it comes to politics, news and satire go together like peanut butter and jelly. Shows including: NBC s Saturday Night Live and CBS s The Late Show with Stephen Colbert showcase political satire the best of them all. The main questions are: does satire relay new well and does satire make for a reliable news source? Stephen Colbert is known to be the king of satire. His late night show is popular for his use of satire to convey the news. He is so good at his satire that people on all sides of the political debate find him funny. ... I find them both very funny and I did learn some things from watching them. I find normal news to be lacking enjoyment. They are frankly boring. Satire requires a lot of interpretation. No one quite has the same opinions on what is trying to be conveyed by such satire. Some people think satire is rude and crosses the line. For others, it is easier to comprehend more serious political topics when humor is involved. Satire can be helpful to some in the transmission of information. I agree completely with this. Humor helps grab the attention of viewers and make the experience more enjoyable. I find it easier to watch the SNL skits mocking the debate over the real deal. Yes, they may be making fun of people, but I unapologetically find that funny. In my opinion there is a reason these people are victims of satire. Whether it is political or just plain old satire, comicality adds a lot to new segments. There is not one person who doesn t enjoy a good laugh. To begin to change, I had to embrace the reason s I was a people pleaser and needed others acceptance. Acceptance and Rejection The need for acceptance always comes with the fear of rejection. Rejection for someone with low self esteem is more damaging because they are less resilient to the hurt. A step that I have only begun to work on is my view of myself. As this quote by Albert Camus suggests, he was not a very optimistic writer. His gloomy look on life itself can be seen all too clearly in The Guest . The story itself deals with Camus s idea of the futility of human existence: the only rational thing anyone can expect is death. Camus s underlying philosophy is revealed from the very beginning of the story. When Daru asks whether he is sorry for the crime he has committed, the Arab stares at him as if he does not comprehend the words. However, he understands completely the situation that he is in, thus showing that it is Daru who cannot comprehend why the Arab has murdered his cousin. The history of this racial conflict dates back to when the French first colonized Algeria. Algeria has undergone many years of ethnic strife; the French, though they are the minority, dominate the large Arab population. This clash is further exacerbated by the lack of cultural understanding between the two groups. Daru cannot fathom a plausible reason for murdering a cousin over a debt of grain. Upon hearing of the crime, he feels a sudden wrath against the man, against all men with their rotten spite, their tireless hates, their blood lusts. What he has not taken into account is that it may be perfectly acceptable to the Arab to kill a relative rather than lose his honor (Thody). Islamic law leaves private [family] matters alone, but the French view their system as innately superior. Growing up in post colonized Algeria, Camus was heavily influenced by the conflict between the Europeans and the Arabs. • 46. The Importance Of Government Privacy The government, that is responsible for protecting citizens, has the power to spy and monitor people. Sometimes, surveillances are useful for catching criminals. Oftentimes, over monitoring individuals may violates personal freedoms and sometimes the government over exceeds its boundaries to obtain personal information. There are four types of privacy related activities that a federal, state, and local government can have control over. The first activity deals with collection of information of individual citizens. After the collection of this information, a government may store, manipulate, or use this data against someone. Third, this collected information may spread to other agencies. Finally, sharing personal information may disrupt someone s daily activities and solitude. There are various ways in which the government and law enforcement can gather information of private citizens. For example, census records collect information about households related to ethnicity, language, marital status, or lifestyles. Other collection gathering methods like the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) collects names, social security numbers, income, and assets of each US worker. Some collection records are also necessary to detect potential criminals. For instance, the FBI National Crime Information Center 2000 (NCIC) contains 13 million records of potential stolen automobiles, stolen license plates, missing guns, other stolen goods, and missing persons records. Many people believe that because we have so many technological advancements and that humans can build or make anything necessary for their survival. Even with the current technology and other advancements, research has proven that humans are still evolving. Much of the evolution that is happening today has to do with the human genome and adapting to current issues in the world. There has been much research done on the human genome and how it is still mutating and changing. Natural selection has a big part in how the genome changes. Mutations are another point to look at when determining if the human species is still evolving. A third point to look at is gene flow and how that affects different populations. The purpose of this paper is to review multiple different articles to establish whether or not the human species is currently evolving. The articles used for this paper confirm that humans continue to evolve. While humans have the technology and skills to make their environments suit their needs, it can clearly be seen that humans continue to evolve and adapt.
