Examples Of Corruption In Candide
In the novella Candide , there are multiple atrocities that take place. Through satirical extremities,
Voltaire exposes the evil corruption of society. The ways Voltaire sheds light on these corruptions
are through religion, sexuality, social status, and ancestral status. The most exposed corruption
would be his matrimonial desires to his dear CunГ©gonde.
Candide always had his hopes set on concurring CunГ©gonde s love. The disapproval of her
father and brother due to Candide only having seventy one quartering is what caused a lot of
Candide s setbacks. It was on his conquests to save his love, that at every angle he hit a fork in the
road. Even though Candide had the same amount of quartering as the Baron s family heir line. This

Electric Leaf Blowers
The present electric leaf blowers are picking up in prominence. The initial ones were not known for

division. These leaf blasters work by connecting to an additional string and an outlet.
They radiate no emanations making them ecologically inviting. Lighter than their gas cousins, the
electrically controlled models are anything but difficult to convey and simple to utilize. To the
extent the cost goes, this kind of leaf machine is by and large more affordable with numerous great

Global Warming Problem In The United States
The world is home to billions of people, living all across the globe. There are hundreds of countries
and they all have different problems. Yet there is one issue that is worldwide, which is global
warming. Global warming is a colossal problem to the United States and the world that threatens the
very existence of humankind; further action must be taken by the United States government in
order to minimize and counteract global warming.
Global warming is a worldwide epidemic that in large part is directly caused by human activities.
NASA defines global warming as the unusually rapid increase in Earth s average surface
temperature[...] due to the greenhouse gasses released as people burn fossil fuels. In the past 100
years, global temperatures have been rising because of the increasing amount of greenhouse gasses
being released into the atmosphere. Greenhouse gasses, such as CO2, are released when humans
burn fossil fuels such as coal. People may argue that climate change is a natural part of life and has

According to the Washington Post, the U.S. has caused more global warming than any other
country (Moony, 2015). The increase in ocean levels and in average global temperature is in a large
part, due to the U.S. The Washington Post states that even though China has surpassed the U.S. in
emissions of CO2 per year, the U.S. far outnumbers any other country in total greenhouse gas

2011; the second largest contributor of CO2 emissions is China, who is responsible for 11%

Realism In The Korean War
There are many ways to definition realism in the realm of international relations. The best
definition can be defined as action is based on a self interest which is defined in a predominantly
materialist way in order to distinguish itself from idealism (Guzzini, 2004). This can also mean
that the nation state will use realist theories to further their own goals and agendas. Power is a
major factor in realismon an international level. This can be seen most prominently in cases of war
where one nation state goes to war with another to gain control of resources, land, or power over the
other nation state.

Quebec 1995 Referendum
What political consequences would have occurred if Quebec had voted Yes in the 1995 referendum?
Introduction
This discussion tackles the Quebec 1995 referendum, more especially regarding what would have
been the consequence of a Yes Vote during the referendum. This topic is important, considering that
it focuses on as issue of high political ramification, which has also found subsequent applications
worldwide, with several other sections of different countries holding referendums to seek for a right
to govern themselves as sovereign states. The significance of this topic rests in the fact that the
Quebec 1995 referendum had a long political history which did not have an implication on Canada
alone, but high potential implications on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Further, another political consequence that would have occurred if Quebec had voted Yes in the
1995 referendum is that the newly formed state will have been able to establish its own laws and
political framework that is suitable to its distinct political, cultural and social identity . This is
because; with the continued existence of Quebec as part of Canada, the Quebec province and its
local government has constantly been interfered by the federal courts of Canada, preventing it
from establishing laws and a political framework that is suitable for the province. Instead, the
federal courts and the Canadian federal government have always termed the establishment of laws
and a political framework that is suitable for Quebec as racist and discriminatory towards the
English speaking population in Canada .
Therefore, if the 1995 Quebec referendum has turned out to be a yes vote, the newly established
state would have managed to assert its own position, through establishing own laws and a political
framework that is suitable for its distinct political, social and cultural identity, without being
stopped or interfered by the Canadian federal government of the federal courts . In this respect,
the only way through which Quebec could be able to establish a legal and political framework that
suits its unique identity as a Canadian province, is through gaining independence from Canada,
which is what the 1995 Quebec referendum vote would have achieved, if it was a yes

Spartacus Film Analysis
Spartacus, 1960, is a film directed by Stanley Kubrick based on the Novel Spartacus by Howard
Fast. The film follows the life of a slave named Spartacus who fought for his own freedom which
led to the Third Servile War. The Third Servile War, also named the War of Spartacus, was slave
insurrections against the Roman Republic. Although Spartacuss main enemy is all of Rome and its
culture, like most heroes portrayed in film, Spartacus s main antagonist is a Roman senator Marcus
Licinius Crassus, whose ultimate goal is to become dictator of Rome. However, does the film
Spartacus follow closely to historical facts, or is it another film dramatized to entertain the public
as Hollywood does? Hollywood dramatizing historical events in historyis not necessarily
considered a bad thing. But how far will Hollywood go to dramatize historical events in order to
entertain the public? With the addition of Hollywood flair, it removes the impact that film had on
Spartacus according to historical accuracy.
Robert Rosenstone, a professor of California Institute of Technology, has written many different
genres from history, fiction, poetry, etc., has said, historical film has been making its impact upon
us for many years now, and its time that we began to take it seriously. By this I mean we must

and technology have been evolving for centuries. New practices, drugs, and therapies are
constantly emerging to better adapt to the needs of the new era. One such development is the
widespread use of dental implants. Gone are the days where civilizations would carve shells and
implant them into the mandible. Dental implants have evolved from using allograft and xenograft
to using ceramic material for osseointegration. [15] While ceramics provide superior
osseointegration properties, new research is being conducted to improve the surface properties of
implant materials to reduce the recovery time after implantation. [12] Coelho et al consider this...

[12] [14] To satisfy these ambitions, the authors speculated that alterations in both surgical and
restorative procedures as well as implant design may affect the treatment short and long term
outcomes. They suspected that implant design may have been rationalization driven by implant
therapy protocol alteration toward diminishing the period allowed for bone healing after implant
placement instead of being based on well designed in vitro, laboratory in vivo and clinical research
results. [12] Limitations in previous designs have rarely been investigated, but surface
modifications have been extensively in an attempt to increase the rate of bone healing and thereby
allowing the early loading of dental implants. [14] The article claims there to be a lack of
hierarchical approach that has led to difficulties in isolating the topographic and chemical
parameters that provide the optimum bone healing around the dental implants. [12] It further
recognized literature inconsistencies in respect to the mechanistic effect of surface modifications in
short term and long term loading of implants. It calls for more accurate clinical studies to be
performed that consider different implant surfaces. The authors further put clinicians in charge of
interpreting in vitro, laboratory in vivo, and clinical study data for the effectiveness of new and
improved materials. [12] Despite a well formed and compelling argument, the authors fail to provide

Delegation Can Be A Slippery Slope For Any Manager
Delegation can be a very slippery slope for any manager, but it has become a necessary component
of many organizational management structures. While it can be an extremely effective
management strategy, many times it is approached incorrectly and thus falls short of expected
results. This is the case we see presented in the case studyfor this assignment. It seems that our
manager/delegator, Ms. Wilson, is looking to remove some items from her current workload in
order to facilitate more time to devote to her expanding supervisory duties that are not able to be
delegated. To her credit, she did take the time to establish a list of tasks contained within her daily
activities and reduce them to items that were able to be delegated. This is a crucial and key step,
as discussed within our text. While we don t know the extent of the items that may have been
included on this list, Ms. Wilson did narrow the initial delegation to a single task: gathering the data
and generating a monthly statistical report. It s at this point that I feel things went a bit astray in
the delegation process that eventually would lead to the failure of the process. First, just as
important and organizing and stratifying a list of tasks for delegation, is the process of organizing
and stratifying a list of potential candidates to perform those tasks. While we know in our case
study that Ms. Wilson chose George Peters for the task, we don t have any indication that she
performed her due

The first major event is when Jonah and Alex met up in the airport and came to the realization of

understand why I am a perfect candidate to be a FilmProduction Major at your school.
I live by the quote, Life is a story, so make it a good one! I have always loved telling stories. Back
in elementary school, I told stories about Dash and Violet, two characters from the animated movie,
The Incredibles. Well, one day the teacher overheard my story and thought it was true and called
my parents! That was a good one!
I guess you can say The Incredibles spoke to me. It created a spark that turned into a flame. My
love for movies grew. The Muppet Movie, The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth all captivated me. I
started to pay attention to the camera shots and would wait for the credits in every movie. I got to
know Jim Henson and his vision. As I got older, the movie ratings progressed and my interest
intensified.
For my 10th birthday, my mom got me a video camera, so I could make my own movies. I
started with stop motion, and my love for filming grew. I created a You Tube Profile and created
Lego Batman shorts, and was inspired with all the likes . I wanted to learn more so I took a class

greater opportunity for social mobility than students who attend non traditional schools in Jamaica.
Historically, due to our post colonial background, that of the plantation society, education was only
afforded to the white, upper class individuals. In order to establish and reinforce a hierarchy of
power and ownership, wealthy capitalists ensured first rate education for their children, while
actively excluding members of the lower classes from this luxury. Due to the caste system, students

the poor. As such, poverty prevents economic freedom and choice, and so despite ones willingness,
this circumvents many realities of their experience, where the poor is held in the vicious cycle of

Another element which affects the social mobility of students from traditional school versus
students from non traditional schools is that of the neo Marxist reproduction theory, which involves
what is known as tracking . This involves the assignment of students according to class and basic

U.S. Foreign Policy Essay
Throughout the course of history, the United States has remained consistent with its national
interest by taking many different actions in foreign policy. There have been both immediate and
long term results of these actions. Foreign policy is the United States policy that defines how we
deal with other countries economically and politically. It is made by congress, the president, and

Another major foreign policy action was the entry to World War I. On August 4, 1914 there was
an outbreak in Europe. A war started between the central powers and the allied powers. The
central powers consisted of Germany, Austria Hungry, and the Ottoman Empire. They were also
known as the Triple Alliance. The Allied Powers, also know as the Triple Entente consisted of
Britain, France, and Russia. An immediate cause of the war was the assassination of Archduke

imperialism, and nationalism. America tried to keep themselves isolated from the war in Europe.
Before the war, America had an idea of neutrality. Neutrality is when American lives and property

These constructs greatly enhance the native capabilities of the DBMS. The procedural languages
also support the ability to embed and use the results of SQL queries. The combination of the
programming constructs provided by the procedural language, and the data retrieval and
manipulation capabilities provided by the SQL engine, is powerful and useful. Database texts and
DBMS documentation commonly refers to the fusion of the procedural language and the
declarative SQL language as a whole within the DBMS.
Oracle s implementation is named Procedural Language/Structured Query Language, and is more
commonly referred to as PL/SQL, while SQL Server s implementation is named Transact‐SQL,
and is more commonly referred to as T‐SQL. SQL predates the procedural constructs in both
DBMS, and therefore documentation for both DBMS refer to the procedural language as an
extension to the SQL language. This idea can become confusing because database texts and
documentation also refer to the entire unit, for example PL/SQL and T‐SQL, as a
vendor‐specific extension to the SQL language. It is important for us to avoid this confusion by
recognizing that there are two distinct languages within a relational DBMS declarative and
procedural and that both are treated very differently within a DBMS in concept and in
implementation. In concept, we use the SQL

readily stored, consistent daily intake is important. Many types of water soluble vitamins are
synthesized by bacteria.
Fat soluble vitamins are absorbed through the intestinal tract with the help of lipids (fats). Because
they are more likely to accumulate in the body, they are more likely to lead to hypervitaminosis
than are water soluble vitamins. Fat soluble vitamin regulation is of particular significance in cystic
fibrosis.
Until the 1900s, vitamins were obtained solely through food intake, and changes in diet (which, for
example, could occur during a particular growing season) can alter the types and amounts of
vitamins ingested. Vitamins have been produced as commodity chemicals and made widely
available as inexpensive pills for several decades, allowing supplementation of the dietary intake.
History of vitamins
The value of eating a certain food to maintain health was recognized long before vitamins were
identified. The ancient Egyptians knew that feeding liver to a patient would help cure night
blindness, an illness now known to be caused by a vitamin A deficiency. The advancement of ocean
voyage during the Renaissance resulted in prolonged periods without access to fresh fruits and
vegetables, and made illnesses from vitamin

The quote above in meaning is that just by having democracy and giving the people the rights
doesn t solve any issues. People still do bad things while having democracy and they blame it on
the government. There were many people who supported the killing of the people in France

Cordy s plan worked but it also failed because that did not stop the violence in the French revolution
. Corday also blamed Marat for the civil war she thought would happen in France. She believed
that Marat was bad for the future of France and that his death would stop the violence in France.
She also believed that Louis XVI should not have been executed
However, Maximilien would disagree with this quote because he believed that only democracy
would fix the government and the country. Maximilien Robespierre is one of the best known leaders
of the French Revolution. He was born in Arras, France and he went to school to become a
lawyer and got his degree at law school. He also, got elected to the Estates General to help make
laws for France and fought against the French Monarchy, the death penalty, slavery, for
democratic reforms and the people to have more power. He helped gain a reputation for defending
the poor society. he was elected president of the powerful Jacobin political faction. At first, he was
against the killing of the people because he thought it wasn t right but as the Revolution grew more
and more, he started to believe that it was out of hand to the point where nothing could be solved.

Previously, we have computed the future value of an investment when a fixed amount of money is
deposited in an account that pays interest compounded periodically. Often, however, people do not
deposit money and then sit back and watch it grow. Rather, money is invested in small amounts at
periodic intervals. Consider these problems: 1. Chrissy deposits $200 each year into a savings
account that has an annual interest rate of 8% compounded annually. How much money will
Chrissy have in her account after three years? Hint: Make up a table of how much she has in her

What Is Thomas Aquinas Essay
Thomas Aquinas (1224 1274) is one of the towering figures in Western philosophy and theology, so

Violence is disgusting, and should only be used as a last resort to fight evil, and must be limited
to what is necessary. After all, violence is against the nature of nature, rarely with the will of
nature. For that reason, in the face of violence, people tend to compromise and relax. However,
one needs to be aware of the dangers and, when necessary, enter the fight against evil. So where do
we have happiness? If not in our own soul, then where? Thomas does not think so, though, because
the soul is made for other things. We attain happiness through our souls, but not because of them
(otherwise simply being a human would be perfect happiness, as being human requires having a
soul). Thus Thomas concludes that, happiness is something belonging to the soul; but that which
constitutes happiness is something outside the soul. This life often does not make sense to us. It
can seem like a wildly fun ride one moment, and a terrifying roller coaster the next. Undeserving
people often seem to have it easy, while the really good ones can get thrown to the ground over and
over again.

Comparing A P And Greasy Lake
Being a teenager isn t always fun, some might say it s the worst time of their years. There are
two sorts of individuals: people who get experience from another person s imperfections, gaining
from those mistakes, and individuals who gain from their own experience, committing their
own errors. The saying Through torment comes knowledge demonstrates the absence of
development in characters of both stories. The two stories John Updike s A P and T.
Coraghessan Boyle s Greasy Lake indicate great examples of how youngsters become more
familiar with their mistakes from their backgrounds. A P is about a nineteen year old kid
working at a basic supply shop who resists the owner attempting to safeguard and awe the young
ladies who are sickeningly dressed. Though Greasy Lake is an account of a few nineteen year old

Tritons character is a strong and protective father of many girls. His wife taken from him and all

this is in regard to how he exactly died. Today historian s using sources from Alexander s time

consisted of getting drunk and talking about the happenings of society. Greeks made sure to use

undiluted wine. One reason being the overall better wine that Macedonia had compared to the
Greeks down south. Alexander would employ the use of symposia according to the researchers
among others, a political purpose the image of a new sovereign as heir to the behavior of that of
the previous ruler . From this it is clear that wine was hugely vital to the Hellenic culture which
allowed anyone to drink consume it. Mostly all citizens would take part in these symposia so it

in these gatherings so it would make no sense for Alexander to keep sober during these times.

Essay On The Fall Of The Aztec Empire
Often times people forget just how significant the fall of the Aztec empire is to our current
culture. If the Spanish never invaded the Aztec s there are a number of things that would be
different today such as Christianity might not have been spread because the Aztec s believed in
serving many Gods as well as effects such as the expansion of Mexicoor the non existence of the

became this way. The cultural encounter of Spanish invading the Aztecs in the 1500 s was critical
to world historic paths because they helped guide the Spanish to colonize the Americas as well as

that not everyone is the same, and what might be true for someone could be different for someone
else. In my own personal experience, I believe I went through and I m going through all these
different stages in theories throughout my life. I also work at a daycare and we use aspects from

The teacher could place two cups that have the same amount of liquid in the cups but because one

The third stage is the concrete operational stage which occurs during ages seven to eleven. The
term concrete operational means the child can reason only about tangible objects presents. So the
child can conserve and think logically but only with practical aids. Thinking becomes less
egocentric with increased awareness of external events. The fourth and final stage is the formal
operational stage which occurs during ages eleven to fifteen. This stage focuses on hypothetical
thinking and scientific reasoning. Piaget believed that only children can learn when they are ready

that teachers should bend to children s needs, provide an appropriate environment, promote self

Vygotsky s sociocultural development theory, social interaction plays an important role in the
process of cognitive development, which is different then Piaget s understanding of child

Pharmaceutical Practices
Obstruction of Generic Pharmaceuticals in the Marketplace
It has been estimated that most of the major pharmaceutical companies have engaged in some
unusual practices to keep generic equivalents of their products from entering the marketplace.
These measures usually have a negative effect on consumers and health care plan providers,
prohibiting them from buying equally effective products at a discounted rate. The objective of the
major pharmaceutical companies in attempting to prevent generics from entering the market is
clearly to provide their shareholders with exceptional profits. Some would argue that there is a

Trying to delay this patent expiration is the most common method of keeping generics off the
street. Every single hour that a generic is kept off of the shelves, it only means more sale of the
original pharmaceutical. Even if the patent lawsuit has no merit, the delay due to legal filings and
court tie ups can buy valuable time for the original patent holder. Below you will find several
examples of brand name pharmaceuticals that have enjoyed a longer monopolistic life due to some
innovative, yet highly controversial techniques:
пѓ Tamoxifen, which is sold under the brand name Nolvadex, is an example of company
collusion. The generic version only sells for about 5 percent less than that of Nolvadex, which is
made by AstraZeneca. The meager discount is a result of a private agreement between Barr and
Zeneca, made after they left the courtroom. Under that pact, Zeneca paid Barr $21 million and
Barr agreed to sell Zeneca s drug rather than produce its own version. Zeneca became AstraZeneca
in a 1999 merger.
пѓ An often repeated example is the way Eli Lilly prevented the Lupin group from entering into
the generic market for a drug. It got a patent for about 70 different chemical processes used to make
the relevant drug.
пѓ The example of Cephalon has truly become the way that businesses have skirted the 1984
legislation acts. Instead of defending its patent in court, they paid the competing generic

Theme Of The Sea In The Awakening
In a Victorian society, women are often conformed to the idea that they are nothing more than
property to the men and carer of the children. Throughout The Awakening by Kate Chopin, much
of the deeper meaning in the story is revealed through a number of important symbols to
symbolize the rebellious behavior of Edna Pontellier, a girl who seeks the satisfaction of her own
wants and needs. By doing this Edna is going against the traditional role of women in a Victorian
society. In the start of the novel, Edna engages in her self discovery by becoming more
independent and straying away from conventions. Throughout the novel, Edna participates in
rebellious actions such as moving out of her house and affairs with other men. Towards the end of
the novel, Edna feels as though the only way to truly achieve freedom is by suicide. Edna s
rebellious life is represented through symbolism which... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In The Awakening, Kate Chopinuses the symbol, the sea, as a way to convey Edna s newly found
strength and empowerment. The sea both demonstrate the transformation of her body and
transformation of her mind. Edna s swiming experience transforms her body during her
awakening by overcoming her fears. Learning to swim is an important experience because it
shows how she is now able to gain control over her body. The statement, The voice of the sea
speaks to the soul (Chopin 18), is powerful due to the fact that it represents how Edna undergoes
a dramatic change in character. In order to express her innermost desires, she has to go from
listening and acting upon the influences of society, to following her own mind. The sea is also
seen as a seductive voice that invit[es] the soul to wander (Chopin 25). The sea and its limitless
potential invites Edna deep into thought about life. These play a large part in understanding Edna s
personal transformation from a quiet and fearful girl to an empowered and independent

on the touch screen indicating the order has been filled and the photo record would be removed

Besides order accuracy, it will also aid in speeding up the drive thru process and address customer
courtesy issues. Specific benefits to this system include easy installation and implementation with
existing QSR (Quick Serve Rest) drive through installations; minimal ongoing support required;
limited risk of hardware loss/damage; increased employee safety; fully supported in multi language
settings; and continues to provide the customer an opportunity to review the menu!

An Effective System For Lossless Image Compression
Abstract In this paper, we proposed an effective system for lossless image compression using
different wavelet transform such as the stationary wavelet transform, the non decimated wavelet
transform, and discrete wavelet transform with delta encoding and compare the results without
delta encoding. With the development in the field of networking in the process of sending and
receiving files needed to effective techniques for image compression as the raw images required
large amounts of disk space to defect during transportation and storage operations. We used lossless
compression to maintain the original features of the image in this process; there is a major problem
which often is low compression ratios. We also use three types of wavelet transform which are
discrete wavelet transform, non decimated wavelet transform, and stationary wavelet transform to
demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed system for comparison and to show the differences
between each type to overcome previous challenges. This paper proposed a system for lossless
image compression based on the use of the three types of wavelet transforms using Arithmetic
coding and Huffman coding with delta coding, which helps in the high compression ratio to clarify
the extent of the difference and distinction between each type. The results show that the stationary
wavelet transform outperforms the non decimated wavelet transform and the discrete wavelet
transform and with delta encoding outperforms without delta

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) produces images of organs and structures inside the body
by using magnetic field and pulses of radiofrequency (RF) energy. An MRI machine consists of
two powerful magnets that generate strong magnetic field when electricity is passed through a
conductive field coil. Human body contains large amount of water molecules that are randomly
arranged. Upon entering the machine, the hydrogen nuclei of the water molecules align in one
direction. Then, a second RF pulse is applied in a series of quick pulses that cause the hydrogen
nuclei to be out of spin alignment. When the RF pulse is switched off, the hydrogen nuclei realign
themselves and relax by releasing RF signals, also known as free induction decay (FID) response

Ownership And Sense Of Self
What does it mean to you when you own something? Is it the gratification that makes it
rewarding? Or is it the cost and struggle it took to buy it? Or how about what others think about
your object? Ownership and sense of self comes together as a perception of how we see ourself
being an owner.
Buying something from a store or from a person makes it yours. When you buy something you re
paying for it in money that you earned which then makes it yours. People might say if they take an
object or find it, the object then belongs to them. They would be wrong since it would still belong
to that person even though they have it in their possession.
Ownership is important in a way that makes it a part of you. Mortimer J. Adler wrote, Full

The National Holiday Of Columbus Day Should Not Become A...
The national holiday of Columbus Day should never have become a recognized Federal holiday.
Christopher Columbus did not actually discover the Americas. There were millions of
indigenous people already living in the location that he was exploring. It is true he was an
explorer trying to find his way to the riches of the Indies and mapping his way for Spain and
Europe however, how is it a discovery when people are already living on the land? He didn t even
make it to the location he was originally trying to reach. He was also a brutal man that enslaved
the people living on the land he discovered .
We as a people enjoy having our holidays off and it has been a recognized holiday since enacted
by Franklin D. Roosevelt. It was celebrated in some aspect or another hundreds of years before
then. We are celebrating a figure that has been romanticized about for so long even though the
truth of the man is a very different story. If we dig further into the truth we will discover that it
really makes no sense to why we have a day to celebrate this man. As a nation we may want to
reconsider either a different celebration of this day or removing the holiday completely.
According to the Library of Congress the first recorded celebration of Columbus Day in the United
States took place on October 12, 1792, for the 300th anniversary of his arriving to America. At the
400th anniversary it was recommended by President Harrison that the United States observe the day
as a holiday. Then the

Vygotsky And The Social Development Theory
Lev Vygotsky and the Social Development Theory Born on November 17, 1896 in Orsha,
Russia, Lev Vygotsky entered into a well educated. (Ghassemzadeh, Posner, Rothbart, 2013, p.
293). Having a banker as a father, Vygotsky was given the privilege of private tutors while young.
(Jones, 2003). He went on to study human development at Moscow University and Shanyavsky
Open University, and later became a psychologist. (Cherry, n.d.). Vygotsky helped to create an
approach to how the human mind is developed, and its higher functions. He felt that interaction
with people and one s culture heavily influenced how a person s behavior and the mind are shaped.

(Gallagher, 1999). Collaborative learning refers to a group of students who work together to learn
and understand a new skill. (Gallagher, 1999).
The Social Development theory consists of four basic principles:
1.Children construct their knowledge
2.Development cannot be separated from its social context
3.Learning can lead to development
4.Language plays a central role in mental development
(Gallagher, 1999).
The first principle deals with the idea that children will actually talk it out to themselves, or use
what Gallagher (1999) referred to as private speech . For example, if a problem arises that is too
difficult for the child to understand, he/she may talk to him/herself to plan out the steps that they
will take to solve the problem. (Gallagher, 1999). The second principle deals with the idea that
cognitive development depends on the child s interaction with people and their culture to stimulate
growth in the child s thought and behavior processes. (Keritsis, n.d.). The third principle centers
around the idea Zone of Proximal Development (ZPD) (Gallagher, 1999).; the zone of proximal
development refers to a situation where a child has a problem that is too difficult for them to
solve on by themselves; however, the child is able to solve the problem when given guidance and
encouragement by someone who knows more about the problem the child is working on (More

8 Habits Of Mind Analysis
The 8 Habits of Mind are what writers would consider the foundation you need to be able to
write well. They are curiosity, openness, engagement, creativity, persistence, responsibility,
flexibility, and lastly metacognition. I consider myself to be a good writer, having a little
grammar errors here and there, but I have never heard of these 8 habits of mind. I was though
familiar with using some of the habits of mind when I m writing, one in particular that I feel I
use a lot is creativity. The list about the 8 habits of mind is something new to me and something I
am not very familiar with, but after reading what each of the habits were about I feel as if I would
use them a lot to help me become a better writer. The list is very useful and... Show more content on

These four habits are the ones I m not so used to and I feel like I ve never used them much in my
writings before. Engagement is defined as a sense of investment and involvement in learning.
Persistence is the ability to sustain interest in and attention to short and long term projects.
Flexibility is the ability to adapt to situation, expectation, or demands. Metacognition is the ability
to reflect on one s own thinking as well as on the individual and cultural processes and systems
used to structure knowledge. The one that I need to develop further on is the one world that I didn
t understand when I first heard it, and that is metacognition. This was my first time hearing this
word and at first I didn t understand what it was but after reading the definition of it helps me

Examples Of Cultural Diverse Dances
Cultural Diverse Dances The culture diverse dances represent people s identity throughout different
places in the world. Several authors discussed how culturally diverse dances would help people to
keep their culture based on movement, posture, gesture, and rhythm. Warta (2010) discussed both
tradition and modern forms of choreography dance, which celebrates the Samoan culture. Samoan
people always focus on three main components of life, the faith, family, and especially music,
which tell the story of the Samoan people. Stanley (2009) emphasizes the traditional dances of the
Tongan people which are stories sung by the singers and acted out by the dancers. It is similar to

Warta (2010) discussed how each Samoan dance was formed, and how it became their
traditional dances. For example, the sasa which is known as the clap dance where men clap
their hands and slap their chests, legs, and arms in a synchronized rhythm. This was the dance
that began as a functional way to swat back mosquitos and later turned into a traditional form of
movement. Stanley (2009) shared how Samoa represented words through movement of the
hands and feet, and not the hips. This is why every time they dance; every action represents
words or lyrics of the song. Traditional Tongan dances are stories sung by the singers and acted
out by the dancers (Stanley, 2009). These stories are either about the Christian missionaries or the
king of Tongan. One of the Tongan traditional dances is called lakalaka where it requires
everyone to stand and dance. It begins slowly but builds to a rhythmic finish. Now comes the
Hawaiian dance where hula is their traditional dance, and it is steeped in ancient traditions with a
fascinating and intricate history that is only made more intriguing give the storytelling element of
the different dances (Gibbs, 2015). Hula dance is a beloved and cherished cultural tradition on the
Hawaiian Islands. It requires dancers to move their hips, not like the Samoan and Tongan, which
they don t. Different hula dances are not only about the story of different islands and their beauty,
the exploits of royalty, people of those islands, major events, and travelers, but also about honoring
the chief or monarch (Hula Alii), animals (Hula Holoholona), Goddess of fire, lightning, wind, and

Fun, creative, motivational, and humorous, private and homemade videos were where YouTube
really shined during the previous decade. Anyone with a computer, camera, and video editing
software had an outlet to show their creative works for fun or presentation, with little restriction
besides time and data limits, or certain language and content, to keep the creative environment
friendly and legal. The addition of advertisement came along with channels becoming more and
more popular, acquiring large followings, yet did not present any more restrictions to the video
sharing site. However, in the recent years, this past decade, YouTube

The Two Endings of the Gospel of Mark
The Gospel of Mark has three different endings rather than one known ending like the other
Gospels. The other Gospels are easily ended with an ending that fits. The Gospel of Mark is also
much shorter than the other ones, but the most important difference is how he chose to begin
and end it. There are many scholars giving reasons for how or why this one ended the way it did,
and also where they think the correct ending appears. They too have different views, so they
must leave it to the readers to decide what they each personally think. The two extra ending that
were added have major differences from the original. But with more than one version of the
correct ending, it shows there is a problem. The original ending of this gospels stops at Chapter
16, verse 8. At the ending of verse 8 the three people that came to visit Jesus tomb had decided
they would not tell anyone what the young man dressed in white on Jesus tomb had said about
how Jesus has risen. Some say it ended at this point because the other part was lost, or something
had happen to the author so verse 8 was the last thing he wrote. No other documents with a reliable
documentation were found with it so that may be a reason why it ended at 16:8 (Dart). Another
reasoning that something had happened to the author so he was not able to finish, resulting in
someone else finishing it later on. If the author did mean to stop it there, it is unknown how people
would have found out about Jesus rising (Knox). The

Child Care Center Has Work On Their Fine Motor Skills
Children in the child care center also work on their fine motor skills. I observed how they often
draw pictures of themselves or of something they really like. For example, of flowers, animals or
a favorite cartoon character they really like. The teacher help children to perfect this fine skills
by learning how to make cupcakes and cookies. This helps the child identify that sugar and
chocolate chip cookies need to be added to the mixture and all the ingredients need to be mixed
together in order to create the recipe. The textbook mentions that between the ages of 4 and 5 a
child develops this skills by using scissors correctly following the line, and drawing simple
figures. (Beck 309). Parents can also work with their children to perfect this skills. For example,
they can show their children how to use the correct kitchen utensils or come up with creative
arts and crafts that a child might enjoy depending on their interest. For instance, when I was
around 4 years old my mom tells me a story about how when I was younger she and I would do
arts and crafts together. We had the tradition of always decorating for the holidays especially for
Halloween, thanksgiving, and Christmas, She commented that decorating crafts was always
exciting for me because I had the ability to use my imagination and creativity. She also said that
my favorite part of decorating was painting the crafts because I had the ability to combine colors

Market penetration
Market penetration is the name given to a growth strategy where the business focuses on selling
existing products into existing markets.
Market penetration seeks to achieve four main objectives:
Maintain or increase the market share of current products this can be achieved by a combination of
competitive pricing strategies, advertising, sales promotion and perhaps more resources dedicated
to personal selling
Secure dominance of growth markets
Restructure a mature market by driving out competitors; this would require a much more
aggressive promotional campaign, supported by a pricing strategy designed to make the market
unattractive for competitors
Increase usage by existing customers for example by introducing loyalty schemes
A market penetration marketing strategy is very much about business as usual . The business is
focusing on markets and products it knows well. It is likely to have good information on
competitors and on customer needs. It is unlikely, therefore, that this strategy will require much
investment in new market research.
Market development
Market development is the name given to a growth strategy where the business seeks to sell its

There are many possible ways of approaching this strategy, including:

Indications For Liver Biopsy And Histological Assessment...
INDICATIONS FOR LIVER BIOPSY
Liver biopsy and histological assessment of the liver has now taken on an important role in clinical
management. Therefore liver biopsy currently has two major roles:
(A) Diagnostic purposes:Liver biopsy is helpful in diagnosis of many forms of liver disease such
as acute and chronic hepatitis (Wilson disease, alpha 1 antitrypsin disease, glycogen storage
diseases, AIH, NiemannPick disease and others), cholestatic disorders, fatty liver disease, vascular
diseases, infiltrative or storage diseases, some infectious diseases, and other disorders that may
be associated with characteristic histological abnormalities. It also plays a role in the diagnosis of
patients with abnormal liver tests of unknown etiology (Czaja et al., 2007). (B) Liver biopsy in
the assessment of known liver disease: Liver histology is also commonly used in disease
monitoring of patients with AIH. First, the portal based plasma cell infiltrate may predict relapse
and second, liver biopsy is often obtained prior to steroid dose reduction and/or discontinuation of
immunosuppressive therapy (Rockey et al., 2009). 1 Neonatal Cholestasis Some forms of neonatal
cholestasis can be identified biochemically and genetically, but others require LB.
Biliary atresia (BA): Typically neonates with BA have acholic stools, firm livers, and abnormal
values for biochemical markers of hepatobiliary injury. Histopathologic evaluation permits
diagnosis of BA in 96% of adequate LB

Berlin Wall Research Paper
On August 13, 1961, the Communist government of Germany began to build a barbed wire and
concrete wall between East and West Berlin. The purpose of the Berlin Wall was to keep the
Western extremist from entering East Germany.
The Partitioning of Berlin
As World War II was ending in 1945, the territories owned by Germany were being divided. Once
it was split, the nation was sectioned into four zones. The east of the country went to the Soviet
Union, while the west went to the Allies. Even though Berlin was located in the Soviet part of the
country, two agreements known as Yalta and Potsdam, split the city into sections.
Crisis in Berlin
The existence of West Berlin, which was thought to be a capitalist city deep within the government
that made the Soviet Union very upset since they were trying to drive the United States, Britain,
and France out of the city. In 1948, the Soviet Union tried to starve the Allies out of West Berlin.

Even with the construction of the Berlin Wall, the flood of refugees did not stop from either side.
Over time, Eastern officials replaced the makeshift wall with one that was much more difficult
to scale. The new wall was reinforced with concrete and had been topped with an massive pipe
that made climbing over nearly impossible. Behind the wall on the Eastern side was a called the
Death Strip. There was soft sand, meant to show footprints and slow them down, trip wire
machine guns, floodlights, well trained dogs, and soldiers with orders to execute any escapees
on sight. At least 170 people were killed trying to get to the other side of the Berlin Wall. Though
it was difficult to escape it was possible, from 1961 to when the wall came down more than 5,000
people managed to cross the border in many ways including, climbing over the barbed wire the
sewers, crawling through, and flying in hot air

Yet there is one issue that is worldwide, which is global warming. Global warming is a colossal problem to the United States and the world that threatens the very existence of humankind; further action must be taken by the United States government in order to minimize and counteract global warming. Global warming is a worldwide epidemic that in large part is directly caused by human activities. In the past 100 years, global temperatures have been rising because of the increasing amount of greenhouse gasses being released into the atmosphere. This topic is important, considering that it focuses on as issue of high political ramification, which has also found subsequent applications worldwide, with several other sections of different countries holding referendums to seek for a right to govern themselves as sovereign states. The significance of this topic rests in the fact that the Quebec 1995 referendum had a long political history which did not have an implication on Canada alone, but high potential implications on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Further, another political consequence that would have occurred if Quebec had voted Yes in the 1995 referendum is that the newly formed state will have been able to establish its own laws and political framework that is suitable to its distinct political, cultural and social identity . This is because; with the continued existence of Quebec as part of Canada, the Quebec province and its local government has constantly been interfered by the federal courts of Canada, preventing it from establishing laws and a political framework that is suitable for the province. Instead, the federal courts and the Canadian federal government have always termed the establishment of laws and a political framework that is suitable for Quebec as racist and discriminatory towards the English speaking population in Canada . Therefore, if the 1995 Quebec referendum has turned out to be a yes vote, the newly established state would have managed to assert its own position, through establishing own laws and a political framework that is suitable for its distinct political, social and cultural identity, without being stopped or interfered by the Canadian federal government of the federal courts . In this respect, the only way through which Quebec could be able to establish a legal and political framework that suits its unique identity as a Canadian province, is through gaining independence from Canada, which is what the 1995 Quebec referendum vote would have achieved, if it was a yes ... • 9. Spartacus Film Analysis Spartacus, 1960, is a film directed by Stanley Kubrick based on the Novel Spartacus by Howard Fast. The film follows the life of a slave named Spartacus who fought for his own freedom which led to the Third Servile War. The Third Servile War, also named the War of Spartacus, was slave insurrections against the Roman Republic. Although Spartacuss main enemy is all of Rome and its culture, like most heroes portrayed in film, Spartacus s main antagonist is a Roman senator Marcus Licinius Crassus, whose ultimate goal is to become dictator of Rome. However, does the film Spartacus follow closely to historical facts, or is it another film dramatized to entertain the public as Hollywood does? Hollywood dramatizing historical events in historyis not necessarily considered a bad thing. But how far will Hollywood go to dramatize historical events in order to entertain the public? With the addition of Hollywood flair, it removes the impact that film had on Spartacus according to historical accuracy. Robert Rosenstone, a professor of California Institute of Technology, has written many different genres from history, fiction, poetry, etc., has said, historical film has been making its impact upon us for many years now, and its time that we began to take it seriously. New practices, drugs, and therapies are constantly emerging to better adapt to the needs of the new era. One such development is the widespread use of dental implants. Gone are the days where civilizations would carve shells and implant them into the mandible. Dental implants have evolved from using allograft and xenograft to using ceramic material for osseointegration. [15] While ceramics provide superior osseointegration properties, new research is being conducted to improve the surface properties of implant materials to reduce the recovery time after implantation. [12] [14] To satisfy these ambitions, the authors speculated that alterations in both surgical and restorative procedures as well as implant design may affect the treatment short and long term outcomes. They suspected that implant design may have been rationalization driven by implant therapy protocol alteration toward diminishing the period allowed for bone healing after implant placement instead of being based on well designed in vitro, laboratory in vivo and clinical research results. [12] Limitations in previous designs have rarely been investigated, but surface modifications have been extensively in an attempt to increase the rate of bone healing and thereby allowing the early loading of dental implants. [14] The article claims there to be a lack of hierarchical approach that has led to difficulties in isolating the topographic and chemical parameters that provide the optimum bone healing around the dental implants. [12] It further recognized literature inconsistencies in respect to the mechanistic effect of surface modifications in short term and long term loading of implants. It calls for more accurate clinical studies to be performed that consider different implant surfaces. The authors further put clinicians in charge of interpreting in vitro, laboratory in vivo, and clinical study data for the effectiveness of new and improved materials. • 11. Delegation Can Be A Slippery Slope For Any Manager Delegation can be a very slippery slope for any manager, but it has become a necessary component of many organizational management structures. While it can be an extremely effective management strategy, many times it is approached incorrectly and thus falls short of expected results. This is the case we see presented in the case studyfor this assignment. It seems that our manager/delegator, Ms. Wilson, is looking to remove some items from her current workload in order to facilitate more time to devote to her expanding supervisory duties that are not able to be delegated. To her credit, she did take the time to establish a list of tasks contained within her daily activities and reduce them to items that were able to be delegated. This is a crucial and key step, as discussed within our text. While we don t know the extent of the items that may have been included on this list, Ms. Wilson did narrow the initial delegation to a single task: gathering the data and generating a monthly statistical report. It s at this point that I feel things went a bit astray in the delegation process that eventually would lead to the failure of the process. First, just as important and organizing and stratifying a list of tasks for delegation, is the process of organizing and stratifying a list of potential candidates to perform those tasks. While we know in our case study that Ms. Wilson chose George Peters for the task, we don t have any indication that she performed her due ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To introduce myself, I am Matthew Kopsachilis from Long Island, a man who has one dream, to make movies. Today, you will understand why I am a perfect candidate to be a FilmProduction Major at your school. I live by the quote, Life is a story, so make it a good one! I have always loved telling stories. Back in elementary school, I told stories about Dash and Violet, two characters from the animated movie, The Incredibles. Well, one day the teacher overheard my story and thought it was true and called my parents! That was a good one! I guess you can say The Incredibles spoke to me. It created a spark that turned into a flame. My love for movies grew. The Muppet Movie, The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth all captivated me. I started to pay attention to the camera shots and would wait for the credits in every movie. I got to know Jim Henson and his vision. As I got older, the movie ratings progressed and my interest intensified. For my 10th birthday, my mom got me a video camera, so I could make my own movies. I started with stop motion, and my love for filming grew. I created a You Tube Profile and created Lego Batman shorts, and was inspired with all the likes . The combination of the programming constructs provided by the procedural language, and the data retrieval and manipulation capabilities provided by the SQL engine, is powerful and useful. Database texts and DBMS documentation commonly refers to the fusion of the procedural language and the declarative SQL language as a whole within the DBMS. Oracle s implementation is named Procedural Language/Structured Query Language, and is more commonly referred to as PL/SQL, while SQL Server s implementation is named Transact‐SQL, and is more commonly referred to as T‐SQL. SQL predates the procedural constructs in both DBMS, and therefore documentation for both DBMS refer to the procedural language as an extension to the SQL language. This idea can become confusing because database texts and documentation also refer to the entire unit, for example PL/SQL and T‐SQL, as a vendor‐specific extension to the SQL language. It is important for us to avoid this confusion by recognizing that there are two distinct languages within a relational DBMS declarative and procedural and that both are treated very differently within a DBMS in concept and in implementation. Water soluble vitamins dissolve easily in water, and in general, are readily excreted from the body, to the degree that urinary output is a strong predictor of vitamin consumption. Because they are not readily stored, consistent daily intake is important. Many types of water soluble vitamins are synthesized by bacteria. Fat soluble vitamins are absorbed through the intestinal tract with the help of lipids (fats). Because they are more likely to accumulate in the body, they are more likely to lead to hypervitaminosis than are water soluble vitamins. Fat soluble vitamin regulation is of particular significance in cystic fibrosis. Until the 1900s, vitamins were obtained solely through food intake, and changes in diet (which, for example, could occur during a particular growing season) can alter the types and amounts of vitamins ingested. Vitamins have been produced as commodity chemicals and made widely available as inexpensive pills for several decades, allowing supplementation of the dietary intake. In my own personal experience, I believe I went through and I m going through all these different stages in theories throughout my life. Pharmaceutical Practices Obstruction of Generic Pharmaceuticals in the Marketplace It has been estimated that most of the major pharmaceutical companies have engaged in some unusual practices to keep generic equivalents of their products from entering the marketplace. These measures usually have a negative effect on consumers and health care plan providers, prohibiting them from buying equally effective products at a discounted rate. The objective of the major pharmaceutical companies in attempting to prevent generics from entering the market is clearly to provide their shareholders with exceptional profits. Trying to delay this patent expiration is the most common method of keeping generics off the street. Every single hour that a generic is kept off of the shelves, it only means more sale of the original pharmaceutical. Even if the patent lawsuit has no merit, the delay due to legal filings and court tie ups can buy valuable time for the original patent holder. Below you will find several examples of brand name pharmaceuticals that have enjoyed a longer monopolistic life due to some innovative, yet highly controversial techniques: пѓ Tamoxifen, which is sold under the brand name Nolvadex, is an example of company collusion. The generic version only sells for about 5 percent less than that of Nolvadex, which is made by AstraZeneca. The meager discount is a result of a private agreement between Barr and Zeneca, made after they left the courtroom. Under that pact, Zeneca paid Barr $21 million and Barr agreed to sell Zeneca s drug rather than produce its own version. Zeneca became AstraZeneca in a 1999 merger. пѓ An often repeated example is the way Eli Lilly prevented the Lupin group from entering into the generic market for a drug. It got a patent for about 70 different chemical processes used to make the relevant drug. пѓ The example of Cephalon has truly become the way that businesses have skirted the 1984 legislation acts. Throughout The Awakening by Kate Chopin, much of the deeper meaning in the story is revealed through a number of important symbols to symbolize the rebellious behavior of Edna Pontellier, a girl who seeks the satisfaction of her own wants and needs. By doing this Edna is going against the traditional role of women in a Victorian society. In the start of the novel, Edna engages in her self discovery by becoming more independent and straying away from conventions. Throughout the novel, Edna participates in rebellious actions such as moving out of her house and affairs with other men. An Effective System For Lossless Image Compression Abstract In this paper, we proposed an effective system for lossless image compression using different wavelet transform such as the stationary wavelet transform, the non decimated wavelet transform, and discrete wavelet transform with delta encoding and compare the results without delta encoding. With the development in the field of networking in the process of sending and receiving files needed to effective techniques for image compression as the raw images required large amounts of disk space to defect during transportation and storage operations. We used lossless compression to maintain the original features of the image in this process; there is a major problem which often is low compression ratios. We also use three types of wavelet transform which are discrete wavelet transform, non decimated wavelet transform, and stationary wavelet transform to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed system for comparison and to show the differences between each type to overcome previous challenges. This paper proposed a system for lossless image compression based on the use of the three types of wavelet transforms using Arithmetic coding and Huffman coding with delta coding, which helps in the high compression ratio to clarify the extent of the difference and distinction between each type. The results show that the stationary wavelet transform outperforms the non decimated wavelet transform and the discrete wavelet transform and with delta encoding outperforms without delta ... The other Gospels are easily ended with an ending that fits. The Gospel of Mark is also much shorter than the other ones, but the most important difference is how he chose to begin and end it. There are many scholars giving reasons for how or why this one ended the way it did, and also where they think the correct ending appears. They too have different views, so they must leave it to the readers to decide what they each personally think. The two extra ending that were added have major differences from the original. But with more than one version of the correct ending, it shows there is a problem. The original ending of this gospels stops at Chapter 16, verse 8. At the ending of verse 8 the three people that came to visit Jesus tomb had decided they would not tell anyone what the young man dressed in white on Jesus tomb had said about how Jesus has risen. Some say it ended at this point because the other part was lost, or something had happen to the author so verse 8 was the last thing he wrote. No other documents with a reliable documentation were found with it so that may be a reason why it ended at 16:8 (Dart).
