Personal Communication Assessment
Communication is something that all beings use, whether it be animals or humans. It is the process by
which we use signs, symbols, and behaviors to exchange information and create meaning (Floyd,
2011). Communication styles vary by different people, but it can be summed up the way we interact
with others and how one is perceived and how we perceive ourselves. Communication apprehension is
the level of fear that a person has of speaking. To test this, the Personal Report of Communication
Apprehension was used to measure my level of apprehension. Throughout this assessment, I will self
reflect on my strengths and areas I can use improvement on.

While I consider myself to be someone that has a good level of self esteem, I most definitely have my
down days. I do know I judge myself harsher than I judge others, and this is because it difficult for
many people to judge themselves accurately or objectively (Floyd, 2011). I am usually optimistic
about my abilities and self concept. The self fulfilling prophecy is a phenomenon that can prove to be
true. On days where I wake up in a good mood, and ready to face the world, I have a much better day
than when I wake up in a bad mood, and have a mean face the whole day. I usually have more good
days than bad days because I am usually happy with my self concept. On most days I feel great about
myself, I am satisfied with my looks, accomplishments, personality, and relationships. This was
something that was hard for me to achieve as someone who grew up being bullied, so even though my
self esteem isn t perfect it is much better than it used to be and continuing to improve. Now that my
self esteem is higher, I find myself more likely to communicate with others and build

The Godfather Sparknotes
The Godfather opens in 1945 as the Don Vito oversees the wedding of his only daughter Connie. His
beloved son Michael returns from Dartmouth College in New Hampshire where he went after
returning from World War II. He deeply disappointed his father by joining the Marines and not being
part of the family business. During the wedding, the Don is sitting in his dark corner room receiving
the people who ask him favours. As a self respecting Sicilian man, Vito will never refuse a request on
his daughter s wedding day, symbolising his honour and love for her. One of the visitors is the
undertaker Amerigo Bonasera who wants to extract his revenge on his daughter s rapists. They beat

One day, Carlo Rizzi, brutally beats his wife Connie Corleone. Although her brother Sonny has
previously been warned not to interfere between them, when he hears what happened, he drives off
toward their apartment in Manhattan in a terrible rage. The Corleone family s enemies trap Sonny and
kill him. After Sonny s murder, Frederico has been sent to Las Vegas for his health and to learn the
casino business. The Don Corleone arranges a meeting with the heads of the other crime families to
end the feud. He states that he will not take vengeance on Sonny s killer and insists that the other
families allow Michael to return to America safely. They plan to have another man, who is already

Russian Gulag Essay
The Gulags of the Soviet Union have been compared to the concentration camps of Nazi Germany, but
in reality they were worse. The Gulags were isolated prison camps peppered across Siberia. Death,
torture, and disease raged within their walls, while endless work went on outside. Gulag personnel
were cruel and unfeeling, using terrible punishment methods and playing senseless games that cost
prisoners their lives. Political enemies of the Bolshevik party made up a significant portion of the
prisoner population, with most sent to the infamous camp system Kolyma. Liberation was painfully
slow, but by 1960, all of the Gulags were gone.
The Gulags were called many things by the Soviet government, but when boiled down, they were

In addition to this, in the mindset of the day, if someone was suspected of anti Bolshevik activities,
they were automatically guilty. The investigator would look for anything he could find that could
possibly make the person guilty at all. Sometimes the investigator would take up a random piece of
literature, say it was bad, and have the suspect shipped off, even if the incriminating evidence was
something as benign as the children s story Goodnight Moon. The investigator would not be the one to
tell the suspect what he was even accused of; he would just take the evidence and people would soon
kidnap the suspect and toss him in a cattle car to Siberia, which was cramped with a mass of other
convicts. When the prisoners reached the Gulag, an official there would take everyone s valuables and
toss the convicts into cramped cells. The interrogation could start at any time. For some the
interrogations were that day, and for others it never came and their lives were lived out in the dirty
cells. When and if the interrogator got a confession out of someone, a prison sentence was read out
and the convict was sent off to the actual Gulag. Interrogation was possibly the most terrifying part of
the early Gulag prison term. The interrogator could be anyone with any type of personality, but he or
she always had a myriad of torture methods to extract

Prison Open, By George W. Bush
George W. Bush once said America is the land of the second chance and when the gates of the prison
open, the path ahead should lead to better life. The concept of his quote was pure, wholesome and is
viewed as truth about the persona of America, but is this quote realistic? Realistic in some point s
because the path after prison should lead to better life. When you analyze the part that says land of
second chances, that phrase in a lot of cases doesn t exactly fit this country in some ways. Are men
and women who are released from prison actually given a second chance at life or do they face
extreme difficulty trying to live the American dream that is advertised as the milestone of living?

That doesn t mean an ex con can t make it to the top of that mountain. Once released from prison,
what are the first things that ex cons have to do? They make time to go devour a nice meal since they
spent years eating that horrendous prison food, maybe hook up with their significant other since they
haven t had sexual relations in a long time with the opposite sex or sex in general. When that is all
over with the now released convict has to find a job. The path to a successful life after prison starts
with how one would obtain money so they are less tempted to go back to their old ways. Trying to
obtain a decent job is a must because with constant work and constant flow of money from their
occupation, this will keep them busy and their thoughts away from the streets so they don t think about
what they could rather be doing. Acquiring a job though isn t easy as it once was in the earlier years.

Enterprise Resource Planning ( Erp ) Technology, Sales...
The article entitled Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Technology; Sales Demand, Manufacturing
and Market Interface (Sharma, 2013) begins by pointing out the importance of businesses being
sensitive to customer demand across a variety of markets around the world in order to maintain
competitiveness. The responses of increasing capacity or simplifying production are not proving as
useful as the strategy of improving the integration of sales demand, manufacturing, and marketing
(SDM M), thus making the company more intimately and rapidly responsive to demand. This
increased integration involves certain basic questions, such as what process to use to integrate and
how to do so. Large companies use ERP technology to achieve SDM M ... Show more content on

In spite of these gaps in the research, there is still evidence of the positive effect of the SDM M
interface and the speed and quality of information to overcome uncertainties about demand,
unpredictable competitors, the timing and novelty of new products, and other relevant questions.
Research recommends that dedicated employee positions exist that integrate the three areas, such as a
sales and distribution specialist who is expected to provide the materials departments with updates.
Companies have been spending large amounts of money on systems that integrate SDM M, making it
possible to survey the success of an IT based strategy to address this challenge. By its nature, ERP is a
well integrated, cross functional system which lends itself to the types of functions required for
integration of the three business functions, demand, manufacturing, and marketing. (Sharma, 2013).
There are two basic types of ERP research, implementation oriented and performance oriented. The
first type studies what factors foster success in implementing ERP, while the second investigates
factors in ERP that affect performance. Research has shown that companies that use ERP outperform
those that do not in functional efficiency, productivity, stock market, and financial metrics.
Interestingly, ERP is found to have a neutral or negative effect on customer satisfaction and operating
expenses. More predictably, general performance dips

Urban Renewal Of Green Investment
As cities across the country continue to age and show signs of deterioration, planning boards and city
councils push for urban renewal projects that, not only updates existing infrastructure and city
amenities, but also sets aside land for cleanup and conversion into parks and greenspace. This wave of
green investment is just the latest turn that urban renewal has taken since its conception during the
1940s by master builders such as Robert Moses. However, the various stages that are reflected in
Atlanta s own built environment go back further than the 1940s.

Parcels surrounding the springs reportedly sold for fabulous rates, up to a thousand dollars an acre.
Believed to have reached its height in popularity in 1890, the development of electric streetcar lines
had spurred new development interest in an adjacent section of the city, Inman Park. In 1903, over a
decade after the alleged height of the springs, 47 acres surrounding the mineral spring was purchased
by the Ponce de Leon Amusement Company. The amusement company began construction
immediately, re opening the mineral springs as Ponce de Leon Amusement Resort. A theater was the
first constructed element of the resort, followed by a merry go round, casino and smaller buildings that
included scores of modern mechanical games.
Thousands came to enjoy the grand opening of the amusement resort on June 7, 1903 and after just a
year in operation the resort had recorded over a million visits. The amusement resort was accessed by
a majority of Atlantans by streetcar, which ran from the city center along Peachtree Street and then
across Ponce de Leon Avenue. The amusement resort greeted streetcar passengers along a 600 foot
platform, which overlooked the resort and offered brilliant sights after sunset. The resorts developers
subsequently opened amusement resorts in Montgomery, Alabama and other cities across the country.

Essay On Gender Inequality In The Caribbean
Critical Reading and Writing in Social Sciences: FOUN1013
Documented Essay
Worldwide, women are achieving higher representation and success. At the post secondary level
women are earning most of the degrees awarded. Where did our males disappear to? Gender
inequality is an extensive, complex and often vague concept. Simply it is defined as the ranking of a
particular gender, whether male or female, over the other and how they are treated based on their
gender. Gender inequality and the result of male underperformance in schools have become major
issues in the Caribbean, and affect the individuals involved and the society on a whole. Boys

Delinquent behaviours may also develop, such as crime when males find other ways of surviving in
providing for themselves and their families. Society, on the other hand, is economically affected by the
reduction in the workforce. Less people working in an economy, results in a decline in levels of
production. Unemployed persons may also put a strain on the countries resources. This is the current
state of Jamaica s economy. As society progresses and changes, the roles of males and females
continue to change. Historically, Caribbean men were known to take part in manual work or attend
schools, as academic excellence was seen as a male domain, while females did domestic work. Men
were also given better paying jobs, while females had to work twice as hard to be qualified for those
same jobs. In contemporary Caribbean society, the roles have interchanged and it appears that men are
lagging in education as well as in job placements. Due to the history of the socialisation of males, it is
evident in today s society that they are more likely to survive after not attending school than females,
whose only other option is domestic labour. This is so because males are hardened to find other ways
of making a living. (Chevannes, 1999) Figueroa (2004) identifies other minor factors which influence
male underperformance such as: the absence of motivational factors, a

Describe My Defining Moment
If you have lived for any length of time, you probably had a defining moment. I experienced my
defining moment in the summer of 2010 when I was six years old. You may not think a child that
young could have a defining moment, but you would be wrong. Moreover, our experiences as children
help to shape our personalities, our outlook on life, and what fears and anxieties we develop. My
defining moments happened on a trip to The American Museum of Natural History.
There was nothing spectacular about that day; it started out just like any other. My dad planned a trip
to the Museum of Natural History. I did not particularly like going to the museum. At that age, I found
it boring because there was nothing to do, but stare at things that did not interest me, and that I could
not touch or play with. Nevertheless, off we went. When we were only a couple of blocks away, dad
said he was afraid we would not be able to find parking close to the museum. Therefore, when he saw
a parking space several blocks away, he pulled over and parked. His plan was for us to take the train to
the museum.

Othello Movie Vs Play
To be honest, I have never read Shakespeare s work before. I also am not a big fan of Dramas or love
stories. Othello has all of this, but it does also have a very suspenseful and dark side, which kept me
interested. Shakespeare s Othello is story that takes place in the 1600 s and is centers around four main
characters: Othello, a Moorish general in the Venetian army; his wife, Desdemona, his lieutenant
Cassio and his trusted ensign, Iago. I found Othello to be a great story, play and movie because it
encompasses all of the things we all experience in life such as: racism, love, jealousy and betrayal. As
I read Othello, I found that once I started reading, I didn t want to stop. I won t lie, I did find the

He has a way of making you feel that you are really watching people from that time. I also seen a lot
of the passion as Iago in him. When I read the play, I feel Kenneth Branagh nailed Iago s image that I
read in the play. In the play, Iago has to be two faced all the time. He shows one side of him to one
person, and another side to another. In the film, Iago works very hard to keep up his appearance with
all the different characters. No character sees more than one side of him, and his plots are kept to
himself. I think the role of Iago was a tough one to play because of the ability to make people truly
believe how convening he was, but Branagh did a great job. I also noticed that when Othello was
speaking, his facial reactions would visibly change when Othello looked the other way. It was
incredible how quickly the change from an evil expression to a loving and loyal expression was made.
In one scene, Iago and Othello are hugging, and Iago s face reflects contempt as soon as his face is
beside Othello s face. This is another reason why I thought the movie brought more of the emotions
out in me. I could actually see the facial reactions as well as eh facial reactions of my kids when they

Reflection About Symbolism
Have you ever thought about symbolism in your life? Symbolism is important in our lives because if
we recognize symbols and what they represent, it can help us to become a better person by letting us
know what we need in our lives and how it helps us. I spent some time thinking about symbolism and
here s what I came up with. The first five symbols I would like to address represent the activities that I
like to do often. My first symbol would be a shoe because I m in cross country and I like to run
because it teaches me perseverance and endurance. I like this because whenever I overcome an
obstacle like a longer race or a harder practice, it makes me feel great about myself because of what I
ve just done. Another symbol I feel describes me well would be the internet icon because I feel using
the internet to create things allows you to do almost anything you want to. I ve been designing
websites with increasing amounts of skill since sixth grade, all of which have been visited by other
online traffic. This makes me feel good about myself because it shows that others are taking notice of
my work! The third symbol I chose would be a BMX ramp because when I m not able to ride
mountain bikes, I ride BMX. I ride BMX because it betters me as a mountain biker and lets me do
things I wouldn t normally be able to do on a mountain bike. BMX bikes are different from mountain
bikes in many ways. They are shorter and have smaller wheels. Some of them don t have brakes and

Review Of The Crucible

What is Corruption?
Corruption can mean so many things and can be interpreted in countless ways but in the most
simplistic way of explaining what it is, it is the misuse of judgment, the struggle between what is right
and what is wrong. No one really knows what led to corruption, but some say it was religious reasons
that led to this malfeasance, meaning the devil, while others believe different. People in today s
society tend to relate this topic to politics because it is most commonly occurs within that faction of
society. Corruption is a reoccurring theme throughout The Crucible, it shows through the political,
McCarthyism, religious and personal reasons of the Colonial Era. The Crucible takes place in the early
England colonies in Salem, Massachusetts during what we know as the witch trials. It is based on a
group of girls involved in witch like activities, who begin to accuse others of committing witchcraft
just so that they do not get into trouble. One girl controls the group, Abigail Williams, and she plots
against Elizabeth Proctor who is married to John Proctor, who Abigail had an affair with. Due to these
childish and dramatic acts of Abigail and the girls, half the townspeople were taken to trial and found
guilty of witchery and worshipping the devil and were sentenced to hang. Not till the end did the
townspeople realize their mistake about the accusations, which turned out to be false.

Film Analysis Of Slumdog Millionaire
Rising from the slum to become a millionaire is a one in a million chance. Yet Jamal, the main
character of Slumdog Millionaire, has raised his life from living in the slums to living the life a
millionaire. With their mother dying, Jamal and his brother started off in the slums basically living off
trash and garbage. From experience, Jamal was able to recall certain events and situations to help him
answer certain question on the Who wants to be a millionaire show. For example, Jamal was able to
answer the question, What does God Rama hold in his right hand? by simply remembering the time
after his mother was killed and him and his brother, Salim, were being chased. (Thesis) Not only did
the plot of the movie made the movie interesting and amazing to watch, but the acting, aging through
camera transitions, and overall goal of Jamal to find Latika throughout conflicts made Slumdog
Millionaire an amazing movie.
The acting of Slumdog Millionaire seemed to be integrated into the environment and the setting of the
slums. With the use of real children from the slums, the movie seems to be very real as the children
seem to already fit the descriptions of being part of the slums. Living in India, I was able to
understand the conditions and the lives of the people that lived around the slums. These people are
recognized by the majority of the public as being savages and uncivilized. The child actors that played
Jamal and Salim in the movie fit the description of being savages and uncivilized. For example, Jamal
jumped into the pile of poop from the outdoor bathroom to get to Amitabh Bachchan to get his
autograph. And as for Salim, Salim fit the description of being uncivilized due to the fact he had no
regards for other people s lives. A perfect example is when Salim was in charge of all the other
children in the child slave ring, Salim at one point took away a baby from another girl to give it to
Latika. In this scene, Latika didn t want to hold the baby, but had to hold the baby because Salim
threaten to drop it. Overall, the acting of Slumdog Millionaire was amazing because of many reasons.
Reasons including the fact that the actors that played Jamal, Salim, and Latika were real children from
the slums of India,

The War Between India And Pakistan
In the middle of 1971 the war between India and Pakistan became a must for India, there seemed no
miracle to halt the inevitable nor Allah wanted Pakistan to keep continuing with its nefarious
activities, and the entire world leaders and major powers become active to have their own slice of
flash. The intelligence agencies of USA, USSR, China, India, Pakistan and other countries became
highly active, sensitive to each and every movement in the Indian sub continent. Israel s Mossad came
out highly successful in trapping a few high govt, official of Pakistan s Defence Ministry, and women
who were regular visitors to President s House of Pakistan in Rawalpindi. The valuable information
procured by Mossad were passed on to India and Gen.Yahya Khan never came to know the moles in

make her point clear and non aggression policy of India. For the world to know India was least
interested in occupying territories of neighbourhood countries, as projected by Pakistani rulers and
media. She was able to win UK and France to block any US move in United Nations. The role of USA
in India Pakistan war is not only interesting to note due to full of pitfalls, biased views, superior pride
and an attitude uncalled for. After a long discussion of Mr. L K Jha, then the Indian ambassador to US,

Pathos In Lightning Crashes Ethos
When most people think of the circle of life they imagine the Lion King, right? They don t think of
any of the realities that actually do happen. They don t think about the people dying in one room while
one is being born in another. Lightning Crashes by Live embodies the circle of life perfectly. Live is
an American rock band originating for York, Pennsylvania. The song was released in September of
1994 as a single for their album Throwing Copper. Ed Kowalczyk, one of the members of Live,
dedicated this song to a high school friend who passed away from a drunk driving collision. The
friend had donated several organs. This song specifically speaks to how she gave a new life to others
by donating her organs. Kowalczyk has said that he envisioned the music video to be in a hospital,
where there is plenty of deaths and births taking place. Instead of that vision, the video takes place in a
home, giving off a more peaceful feeling and a happy ending atmosphere. The opening of the music
video portrays the image of a new mother giving birth in one room, while in another room an elderly
woman is dying, symbolizing one life being brought into the world as another is taken. Even though
Lightning Crashes does not use the appeal of logos, it displays a strong usage of pathos and offers a
credible source of ethos to draw in its listeners. The song practices several emotional metaphors
throughout the lyrics, the music video displays emotional imagery, and it can relate to outside

Non Fictional Characters From The Movie The Great...
There were many reasons and examples for the non fictional characters from the movie, The Great
Debaters; however, civil disobedience can be cited and resonant with any society. First, describe a
feeling of struggle and wanted to belong or presence from the beginning. How should a person
connect and understand the continued era for all generation. For Instance, could anyone be shamed or
turn down by a certain racial group at the same time. America has felt the urge to teach young children

This film challenges the power of advanced technology. In the film, a young man, Caleb, agrees to
study and analyze a female robot named Ava. Ava is a robot with certain abilities that no other robot
has. While studying Ava, Caleb comes to the conclusion that he should help her escape from Nate, her
creator. Caleb eventually comes up with a plan to free Ava. However, it turns out that Ava only used
Caleb so that she could escape alone. Ava never really had any feelings for Caleb. Ava then proceeds

real world to live her life. Although Caleb did could not see them, there were numerous signs

philosophy. This means that if Ava has a personality of some sort she must be a conscious and self

Describe The Working Conditions In The 1800 s
Six days a week I worked from siren to siren. This quote describes what it was like to work at a
plantation, it explains how it was on a regular day working on a plantation in Hawai i. Sugar was
starting to grow in Hawai i during the reign of Kamehameha III. At first there were many plantations
but then only a few grew larger and continued to produce. The larger plantations often bought the land
of the smaller ones that were not successful. These large plantations needed workers to manage the
machinery, so Kamehameha III had the idea to look abroad for workers. These workers came from
near and far to work on the plantations to get paid $3 a month. Plantation life in Hawai i in the 1800 s

shared was unsanitary. The first source also states, their houses were on the fields and had little to no
shade. They would only get a pre dawn bowl of rice that had to last them the whole day, this shows
that the workers didn t have a lot to eat. In the article it stated, the wake up call was at 5:00 in the
morning and all of them had to be at the fields by 5:30 a.m. Second, the working conditions were
terrible. According to source one, the workers had to hike to get to the fields and then spend 10 to 12
hours working on the fields. For the 10 to 12 hours that the people worked, they only received $3 a
month and were charged for many necessities, this means that the workers didn t have a lot of money.
If they worked more than 10 hours, the workers get paid more. Third, the different races were also
treated differently. The management and skilled jobs were held by whites. The camp policemen were
mostly Portuguese and Hawaiian. The asians got the hardest jobs, this means that the . Japanese cane

Essay On Tribal Tattoos
While tribal tattooing has a history as far back as tattooing itself, these types of images have gained a
huge increase in general popularity, beginning in the early 1990s. Traditional tribal tattooing was (and
is) done for many reasons. Some of the most common reasons for tribal tattoos include rites of
passage, social status, or even simple family identification. Some tribes also believe tattoos hold
magical or spiritual significance. Of course, there are also instances where tribe members get tattooed
simply for aesthetic reasons. Some of the most well known variations of tribal tattoos come from
tribes from Borneo, the Polynesian Islands, the Maori, Native Americans, and Celtic tribes. Tattoos of
Chinese and Japanese characters have also become very commonplace among Westerners.
One common thread throughout both traditional and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One appealing aspect is the bold nature of the images. Tribal tattoos are almost always done in black,
often with thick, interweaving lines that show up very strongly against the skin. Also, because of the
bold, solid black nature of the images, tribal tattoos are less likely to fade or blur, giving them greater
longevity. Both the tattoo artist and the receiver of the artwork have a lot of artistic freedom with tribal
type tattoos, as much or most of the modern types of this artwork has little to do with any specific
actual tribe. Almost any kind of image can be turned into a tribal design, so you see many varieties of
this kind of artwork. If you don t want to create your design or do not have one in mind already,
professional tattoo artists will nearly always have books of flash designs for you to pick from. Another
appealing aspect of tribal tattoos is that the designs tend to work very well in popular body areas for
tattooing, such as the upper arms and the back. Arm and leg bands are some of the most common
styles of tribal

On On Dumpster Diving. In America, While Homelessness And
On On Dumpster Diving In America, while homelessness and poverty runs rampant, while war
veterans and Phds find themselves on the streets, while the price of living and the ability to find food
for America s poorest grows ever more difficult, we, as a culture, still look upon practices like
dumpster diving as disgusting and believe them to be only practiced by the lowest and most
uneducated of American society. This is no longer a practical image of the practice or the people
behind it. As poverty is ever prevalent in the United States, many are forced to find food outside of
conventional needs, especially in a culture that exceedingly devalues assistance to the poor.

Through an understanding of the needs of the audience, practical information and anecdotes, and
philosophical discussion, Eighner brings enlightenment from the bottom up. One of Eighner s biggest
advantages in this essay is an acute understanding of the preconceptions and bad reputation around
dumpster diving and the people who do it and the needs of the audience in order to take him, and his
story, seriously. Because, as a culture, we perceive the homeless, and by extension, those who
dumpster dive, as filthy, uneducated, and simple, it is vital for Eighner to present himself as well
educated, even intellectual. He does this right from the beginning by revealing some of his own
backstory. He tells of his early interest in dumpsters and how he approached the subject by writing to
Merriam Webster to better understand the origins of the word dumpster . This shows Eighner s
intellectual approach to the subject, building his credibility as an intelligent person. It also shows the
seriousness that Eighner grants to dumpster diving, he allows the audience to understand the issue
first, through rather cold, intellectual eyes, before having to look at the messy reality. Eighner does
something very similar when he discusses the various names for dumpster diving. This again enhances
the understanding of what he prefers to cal scavenging by

The paired t test is a statistical analysis test used to determine if the mean difference between two sets
of data is zero. During the study, each participant will be interviewed twice, creating a before and after
situation. The paired t test will then compare the mean values from two samples (Surkis Read, 2015).
Statistical significance and practical significance are important when interpreting the results.
Statistical significance is determined by examining the p value. The lower the p value, the lower the
probability of the null hypothesis being correct. This reflects the low probability that conclusions were
determined by chance. Practical significance depends on the participants refers to the relationship
between the data and real life situations. During the data analysis, results can be statistically

  • 3. Personal Communication Assessment Communication is something that all beings use, whether it be animals or humans. It is the process by which we use signs, symbols, and behaviors to exchange information and create meaning (Floyd, 2011). Communication styles vary by different people, but it can be summed up the way we interact with others and how one is perceived and how we perceive ourselves. Communication apprehension is the level of fear that a person has of speaking. To test this, the Personal Report of Communication Apprehension was used to measure my level of apprehension. Throughout this assessment, I will self reflect on my strengths and areas I can use improvement on. Communication Style Communication style is the process that we rely on to communicate with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While I consider myself to be someone that has a good level of self esteem, I most definitely have my down days. I do know I judge myself harsher than I judge others, and this is because it difficult for many people to judge themselves accurately or objectively (Floyd, 2011). I am usually optimistic about my abilities and self concept. The self fulfilling prophecy is a phenomenon that can prove to be true. On days where I wake up in a good mood, and ready to face the world, I have a much better day than when I wake up in a bad mood, and have a mean face the whole day. I usually have more good days than bad days because I am usually happy with my self concept. On most days I feel great about myself, I am satisfied with my looks, accomplishments, personality, and relationships. This was something that was hard for me to achieve as someone who grew up being bullied, so even though my self esteem isn t perfect it is much better than it used to be and continuing to improve. He deeply disappointed his father by joining the Marines and not being part of the family business. During the wedding, the Don is sitting in his dark corner room receiving the people who ask him favours. Although her brother Sonny has previously been warned not to interfere between them, when he hears what happened, he drives off toward their apartment in Manhattan in a terrible rage. The Don Corleone arranges a meeting with the heads of the other crime families to end the feud. He states that he will not take vengeance on Sonny s killer and insists that the other families allow Michael to return to America safely. • 5. Russian Gulag Essay The Gulags of the Soviet Union have been compared to the concentration camps of Nazi Germany, but in reality they were worse. The Gulags were isolated prison camps peppered across Siberia. Death, torture, and disease raged within their walls, while endless work went on outside. Gulag personnel were cruel and unfeeling, using terrible punishment methods and playing senseless games that cost prisoners their lives. Political enemies of the Bolshevik party made up a significant portion of the prisoner population, with most sent to the infamous camp system Kolyma. Liberation was painfully slow, but by 1960, all of the Gulags were gone. The Gulags were called many things by the Soviet government, but when boiled down, they were essentially ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In addition to this, in the mindset of the day, if someone was suspected of anti Bolshevik activities, they were automatically guilty. The investigator would look for anything he could find that could possibly make the person guilty at all. Sometimes the investigator would take up a random piece of literature, say it was bad, and have the suspect shipped off, even if the incriminating evidence was something as benign as the children s story Goodnight Moon. The investigator would not be the one to tell the suspect what he was even accused of; he would just take the evidence and people would soon kidnap the suspect and toss him in a cattle car to Siberia, which was cramped with a mass of other convicts. When the prisoners reached the Gulag, an official there would take everyone s valuables and toss the convicts into cramped cells. The interrogation could start at any time. For some the interrogations were that day, and for others it never came and their lives were lived out in the dirty cells. When and if the interrogator got a confession out of someone, a prison sentence was read out and the convict was sent off to the actual Gulag. Interrogation was possibly the most terrifying part of the early Gulag prison term. The interrogator could be anyone with any type of personality, but he or she always had a myriad of torture methods to extract ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Prison Open, By George W. Bush George W. Bush once said America is the land of the second chance and when the gates of the prison open, the path ahead should lead to better life. The concept of his quote was pure, wholesome and is viewed as truth about the persona of America, but is this quote realistic? Realistic in some point s because the path after prison should lead to better life. When you analyze the part that says land of second chances, that phrase in a lot of cases doesn t exactly fit this country in some ways. Are men and women who are released from prison actually given a second chance at life or do they face extreme difficulty trying to live the American dream that is advertised as the milestone of living? Prison life forces individuals to change their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... That doesn t mean an ex con can t make it to the top of that mountain. Once released from prison, what are the first things that ex cons have to do? They make time to go devour a nice meal since they spent years eating that horrendous prison food, maybe hook up with their significant other since they haven t had sexual relations in a long time with the opposite sex or sex in general. When that is all over with the now released convict has to find a job. The path to a successful life after prison starts with how one would obtain money so they are less tempted to go back to their old ways. Trying to obtain a decent job is a must because with constant work and constant flow of money from their occupation, this will keep them busy and their thoughts away from the streets so they don t think about what they could rather be doing. Acquiring a job though isn t easy as it once was in the earlier years. According to the United States Bureau of Labor statistics showed that in the year of 2010 the unemployment rate was at a high of 9.8% In the United States but back in 1989 that rate was about 5.4% and if you go back even further to 1953 the unemployment rate was 2.9% (Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2014). The article entitled Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Technology; Sales Demand, Manufacturing and Market Interface (Sharma, 2013) begins by pointing out the importance of businesses being sensitive to customer demand across a variety of markets around the world in order to maintain competitiveness. The responses of increasing capacity or simplifying production are not proving as useful as the strategy of improving the integration of sales demand, manufacturing, and marketing (SDM M), thus making the company more intimately and rapidly responsive to demand. This increased integration involves certain basic questions, such as what process to use to integrate and how to do so. Large companies use ERP technology to achieve SDM M ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In spite of these gaps in the research, there is still evidence of the positive effect of the SDM M interface and the speed and quality of information to overcome uncertainties about demand, unpredictable competitors, the timing and novelty of new products, and other relevant questions. Research recommends that dedicated employee positions exist that integrate the three areas, such as a sales and distribution specialist who is expected to provide the materials departments with updates. Companies have been spending large amounts of money on systems that integrate SDM M, making it possible to survey the success of an IT based strategy to address this challenge. By its nature, ERP is a well integrated, cross functional system which lends itself to the types of functions required for integration of the three business functions, demand, manufacturing, and marketing. (Sharma, 2013). There are two basic types of ERP research, implementation oriented and performance oriented. The first type studies what factors foster success in implementing ERP, while the second investigates factors in ERP that affect performance. Research has shown that companies that use ERP outperform those that do not in functional efficiency, productivity, stock market, and financial metrics. Interestingly, ERP is found to have a neutral or negative effect on customer satisfaction and operating expenses. More predictably, general performance dips ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Urban Renewal Of Green Investment As cities across the country continue to age and show signs of deterioration, planning boards and city councils push for urban renewal projects that, not only updates existing infrastructure and city amenities, but also sets aside land for cleanup and conversion into parks and greenspace. This wave of green investment is just the latest turn that urban renewal has taken since its conception during the 1940s by master builders such as Robert Moses. However, the various stages that are reflected in Atlanta s own built environment go back further than the 1940s. Believed to have reached its height in popularity in 1890, the development of electric streetcar lines had spurred new development interest in an adjacent section of the city, Inman Park. In 1903, over a decade after the alleged height of the springs, 47 acres surrounding the mineral spring was purchased by the Ponce de Leon Amusement Company. The amusement company began construction immediately, re opening the mineral springs as Ponce de Leon Amusement Resort. A theater was the first constructed element of the resort, followed by a merry go round, casino and smaller buildings that included scores of modern mechanical games. Thousands came to enjoy the grand opening of the amusement resort on June 7, 1903 and after just a year in operation the resort had recorded over a million visits. The amusement resort was accessed by a majority of Atlantans by streetcar, which ran from the city center along Peachtree Street and then across Ponce de Leon Avenue. The amusement resort greeted streetcar passengers along a 600 foot platform, which overlooked the resort and offered brilliant sights after sunset. At the post secondary level women are earning most of the degrees awarded. Where did our males disappear to? Gender inequality is an extensive, complex and often vague concept. Simply it is defined as the ranking of a particular gender, whether male or female, over the other and how they are treated based on their gender. Gender inequality and the result of male underperformance in schools have become major issues in the Caribbean, and affect the individuals involved and the society on a whole. Delinquent behaviours may also develop, such as crime when males find other ways of surviving in providing for themselves and their families. Society, on the other hand, is economically affected by the reduction in the workforce. Less people working in an economy, results in a decline in levels of production. Unemployed persons may also put a strain on the countries resources. This is the current state of Jamaica s economy. As society progresses and changes, the roles of males and females continue to change. Historically, Caribbean men were known to take part in manual work or attend schools, as academic excellence was seen as a male domain, while females did domestic work. Men were also given better paying jobs, while females had to work twice as hard to be qualified for those same jobs. In contemporary Caribbean society, the roles have interchanged and it appears that men are lagging in education as well as in job placements. Due to the history of the socialisation of males, it is evident in today s society that they are more likely to survive after not attending school than females, whose only other option is domestic labour. This is so because males are hardened to find other ways of making a living. (Chevannes, 1999) Figueroa (2004) identifies other minor factors which influence male underperformance such as: the absence of motivational factors, a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

You may not think a child that young could have a defining moment, but you would be wrong. Moreover, our experiences as children help to shape our personalities, our outlook on life, and what fears and anxieties we develop. My defining moments happened on a trip to The American Museum of Natural History. There was nothing spectacular about that day; it started out just like any other. My dad planned a trip to the Museum of Natural History. I did not particularly like going to the museum. At that age, I found it boring because there was nothing to do, but stare at things that did not interest me, and that I could not touch or play with. Nevertheless, off we went. When we were only a couple of blocks away, dad said he was afraid we would not be able to find parking close to the museum. • 12. Othello Movie Vs Play To be honest, I have never read Shakespeare s work before. I also am not a big fan of Dramas or love stories. Othello has all of this, but it does also have a very suspenseful and dark side, which kept me interested. Shakespeare s Othello is story that takes place in the 1600 s and is centers around four main characters: Othello, a Moorish general in the Venetian army; his wife, Desdemona, his lieutenant Cassio and his trusted ensign, Iago. I found Othello to be a great story, play and movie because it encompasses all of the things we all experience in life such as: racism, love, jealousy and betrayal. As I read Othello, I found that once I started reading, I didn t want to stop. I won t lie, I did find the dialog challenging to follow at times. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He has a way of making you feel that you are really watching people from that time. I also seen a lot of the passion as Iago in him. When I read the play, I feel Kenneth Branagh nailed Iago s image that I read in the play. In the play, Iago has to be two faced all the time. He shows one side of him to one person, and another side to another. In the film, Iago works very hard to keep up his appearance with all the different characters. No character sees more than one side of him, and his plots are kept to himself. I think the role of Iago was a tough one to play because of the ability to make people truly believe how convening he was, but Branagh did a great job. I also noticed that when Othello was speaking, his facial reactions would visibly change when Othello looked the other way. It was incredible how quickly the change from an evil expression to a loving and loyal expression was made. In one scene, Iago and Othello are hugging, and Iago s face reflects contempt as soon as his face is beside Othello s face. This is another reason why I thought the movie brought more of the emotions out in me. • 13. Reflection About Symbolism Have you ever thought about symbolism in your life? Symbolism is important in our lives because if we recognize symbols and what they represent, it can help us to become a better person by letting us know what we need in our lives and how it helps us. I spent some time thinking about symbolism and here s what I came up with. The first five symbols I would like to address represent the activities that I like to do often. My first symbol would be a shoe because I m in cross country and I like to run because it teaches me perseverance and endurance. I like this because whenever I overcome an obstacle like a longer race or a harder practice, it makes me feel great about myself because of what I ve just done. Another symbol I feel describes me well would be the internet icon because I feel using the internet to create things allows you to do almost anything you want to. I ve been designing websites with increasing amounts of skill since sixth grade, all of which have been visited by other online traffic. This makes me feel good about myself because it shows that others are taking notice of my work! The third symbol I chose would be a BMX ramp because when I m not able to ride mountain bikes, I ride BMX. I ride BMX because it betters me as a mountain biker and lets me do things I wouldn t normally be able to do on a mountain bike. BMX bikes are different from mountain bikes in many ways. • 14. Review Of The Crucible Kristina Garcia Mrs. Herrera English III December 11, 2016 What is Corruption? Corruption can mean so many things and can be interpreted in countless ways but in the most simplistic way of explaining what it is, it is the misuse of judgment, the struggle between what is right and what is wrong. No one really knows what led to corruption, but some say it was religious reasons that led to this malfeasance, meaning the devil, while others believe different. People in today s society tend to relate this topic to politics because it is most commonly occurs within that faction of society. Corruption is a reoccurring theme throughout The Crucible, it shows through the political, McCarthyism, religious and personal reasons of the Colonial Era. The Crucible takes place in the early England colonies in Salem, Massachusetts during what we know as the witch trials. It is based on a group of girls involved in witch like activities, who begin to accuse others of committing witchcraft just so that they do not get into trouble. One girl controls the group, Abigail Williams, and she plots against Elizabeth Proctor who is married to John Proctor, who Abigail had an affair with. Due to these childish and dramatic acts of Abigail and the girls, half the townspeople were taken to trial and found guilty of witchery and worshipping the devil and were sentenced to hang. Not till the end did the townspeople realize their mistake about the accusations, which turned out to be false. Political ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. Film Analysis Of Slumdog Millionaire Rising from the slum to become a millionaire is a one in a million chance. Yet Jamal, the main character of Slumdog Millionaire, has raised his life from living in the slums to living the life a millionaire. With their mother dying, Jamal and his brother started off in the slums basically living off trash and garbage. From experience, Jamal was able to recall certain events and situations to help him answer certain question on the Who wants to be a millionaire show. For example, Jamal was able to answer the question, What does God Rama hold in his right hand? by simply remembering the time after his mother was killed and him and his brother, Salim, were being chased. (Thesis) Not only did the plot of the movie made the movie interesting and amazing to watch, but the acting, aging through camera transitions, and overall goal of Jamal to find Latika throughout conflicts made Slumdog Millionaire an amazing movie. The acting of Slumdog Millionaire seemed to be integrated into the environment and the setting of the slums. With the use of real children from the slums, the movie seems to be very real as the children seem to already fit the descriptions of being part of the slums. Living in India, I was able to understand the conditions and the lives of the people that lived around the slums. These people are recognized by the majority of the public as being savages and uncivilized. The child actors that played Jamal and Salim in the movie fit the description of being savages and uncivilized. For example, Jamal jumped into the pile of poop from the outdoor bathroom to get to Amitabh Bachchan to get his autograph. And as for Salim, Salim fit the description of being uncivilized due to the fact he had no regards for other people s lives. A perfect example is when Salim was in charge of all the other children in the child slave ring, Salim at one point took away a baby from another girl to give it to Latika. In this scene, Latika didn t want to hold the baby, but had to hold the baby because Salim threaten to drop it. Overall, the acting of Slumdog Millionaire was amazing because of many reasons. They don t think about the people dying in one room while one is being born in another. Lightning Crashes by Live embodies the circle of life perfectly. Live is an American rock band originating for York, Pennsylvania. The song was released in September of 1994 as a single for their album Throwing Copper. Ed Kowalczyk, one of the members of Live, dedicated this song to a high school friend who passed away from a drunk driving collision. The friend had donated several organs. This song specifically speaks to how she gave a new life to others by donating her organs. Kowalczyk has said that he envisioned the music video to be in a hospital, where there is plenty of deaths and births taking place. Instead of that vision, the video takes place in a home, giving off a more peaceful feeling and a happy ending atmosphere. The opening of the music video portrays the image of a new mother giving birth in one room, while in another room an elderly woman is dying, symbolizing one life being brought into the world as another is taken. Even though Lightning Crashes does not use the appeal of logos, it displays a strong usage of pathos and offers a credible source of ethos to draw in its listeners. One of Eighner s biggest advantages in this essay is an acute understanding of the preconceptions and bad reputation around dumpster diving and the people who do it and the needs of the audience in order to take him, and his story, seriously. Because, as a culture, we perceive the homeless, and by extension, those who dumpster dive, as filthy, uneducated, and simple, it is vital for Eighner to present himself as well educated, even intellectual. He does this right from the beginning by revealing some of his own backstory. He tells of his early interest in dumpsters and how he approached the subject by writing to Merriam Webster to better understand the origins of the word dumpster . This shows Eighner s intellectual approach to the subject, building his credibility as an intelligent person. It also shows the seriousness that Eighner grants to dumpster diving, he allows the audience to understand the issue first, through rather cold, intellectual eyes, before having to look at the messy reality. The paired t test is a statistical analysis test used to determine if the mean difference between two sets of data is zero. During the study, each participant will be interviewed twice, creating a before and after situation. The paired t test will then compare the mean values from two samples (Surkis Read, 2015). Statistical significance and practical significance are important when interpreting the results. Statistical significance is determined by examining the p value. The lower the p value, the lower the probability of the null hypothesis being correct. This reflects the low probability that conclusions were determined by chance. Practical significance depends on the participants refers to the relationship between the data and real life situations. During the data analysis, results can be statistically significant but not practically significant. Both types are required to obtain valuable conclusions. Assumptions of the Study Assumptions for this research study are that the participants will answer the interview questions in an honest and candid manner. The inclusion criteria of the sample are appropriate and therefore, assures that the participants have all experienced the same or similar phenomenon of the study. The research assumed that all women had attained an education level that can help them interpret and understand simple texts and phrases. It is for this reason that it included women aged 30 and 55 years ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
