and Objectives 6. Introduction of FiWi and Related Works 7. Hardware and Software Platform 8.
Research Schedule 9. References 1. Problem Definition FiWi (Fiber Wireless) networks are designed
using the wireless networks such as WLANs and fiber networks like PONs (Passive Optical
Networks). Therefore FiWi networks having advantages of both users mobility support as well as high
bandwidth. But the major problem with this networks is as the number of mobile user s increases,
queueing delay is increasing in FiWi s Optical Network Unit (ONU). There are number of methods
recently proposed for minimizing this queueing delay for bandwidth allocation. However, this
methods are only working on PONs and WLANs and hence not considering the state of ONU.
Therefore performance of FiWi networks is poor in terms of throughput and queuing delay. For any
kind of FiWi networks improving its performance in terms of throughput is very vital. This can be
possible by presenting the efficient queueing delay minimization method for FiWi networks. This is
main research problem for this domain. 2.

Erich Remarque s The Red Badge Of Courage Essay
Erich Remarque A. Wheen John Groth Printed at the Spiral Press for the individuals from the
Limited Editions Club 1969.
Looked into By, Michael Anderson, Shepherd University.
Erich Maria Remarque was conceived in Osnabruck, Germany, in 1898 into a lower working class
family. In 1916, he was drafted into the German armed force to battle in World War I, in which he was
gravely injured. Ten years after the war finished, he distributed I m Western Nights Neuse, converted
into English a year later as All Quiet on the Western Front, a novel about the encounters of
conventional German fighters amid the war.
In spite of the fact that different books, most strikingly Stephen Crane s The Red Badge of Courage
(1895), had investigated the viciousness and severity of war in a sensible light, the abstract convention
of war stories still tended overwhelmingly toward romanticized beliefs of eminence, enterprise, and
respect. In introducing his dismally reasonable variant of an officer s experience, Remarque stripped
the common sentimentalism from the war story in the staunchly antiwar All Quiet on the Western
Front. The novel immediately turned into a universal, widely praised achievement. An American
motion picture in light of the book was discharged in 1930.
After Adolf Hitler s ascent to control in Germany in the mid 1930s, the furiously nationalistic Nazi
administration assaulted All Quiet on the Western Front and Remarque as unpatriotic. Remarque made
no endeavor to oppose

Essay On Energy Recovery
Energy Recovery
Anaerobic treatment gives a high potential of energy recovery from wastewater in form of biogas. The
effluent can also serve industrial heating and cooling purposes. Wastewater has a huge potential of
electricity generation. Technologies exist for on site energy recovery through sludge/biosolids
treatment processes integrated in wastewater treatment plants, allowing for transition from major
energy consumers to energy producers.
Strict standards for discharge often require energy intensive advanced treatment technologies. As a
result, the number of plants using advanced treatment has increased [17]. Rising energy costs and
concerns about greenhouse gas generation present a major incentive for tracking energy usage of ...

Biogas is a mixture essentially comprising mostly methane (CH4, around 55 75%) but also contains
carbon dioxide (CO2, around 25 30%), varying quantities of water (H2O) and hydrogen sulphide
(H2S). The thermal energy available from the methane contained in biogas is about 6 to 8 kWh/m3.
This corresponds to half a litre of diesel oil and 5.5 kg of firewood [21].
4.2 Microbial Fuel Cell Technology
Wastewater treatment is an energy intensive process, consuming about 1,900 kJ/m3 of treated
wastewater [22]. Wastewater contains almost 9 times more energy than the energy used to treat an
equivalent volume, thus creating the need to harness this energy through the use of a Microbial Fuel
Cell (MFC) [22]. Microbial Fuel cell (MFC) is a device designed for electricity generation in the
process of wastewater treatment [23]. Microbial fuel cell is a new form of renewable energy, which
uses bacteria in wastewater to convert organic matter into electricity, while simultaneously treating the
wastewater. MFCs can provide an answer to several of the problems which traditional wastewater
treatment faces. They enable the recovery of energy out of the wastewater, while limiting both the
energy input and the excess sludge production [24].
5.0 Nutrient recovery
Wastewater nutrients are resources that can generate revenues for treatment plants while helping meet
environmental regulations. Wastewater and municipal sludge, can be a reliable source of nutrients, in

Sexual Adventure
Jenny was bored with her life and her marriage. She wanted to spice up her life and her time in the
bedroom. For the longest time she had been wondering why her husband only wanted to have sex one
time a month, and then it was only in one position; missionary. There was nothing new to their love
making, it had always been the same. But after twenty years of marriage, she d enough, and wanted
something new. She went to a web page she had heard some co workers talking about and looked
around. Her eyes were wide with wonder why ll she read stories of sexual adventure. She could feel
her body getting hotter as she read more and more stories of how girls allowed males to use their
bodies. Not just one man, but several. It was called a gangbang, and she felt her pussy clench as she
wondered what it would feel like. Pulling her panties down she pushed a finger into her wet hole as
she read the story of a woman who had allowed five guys to do her. The woman had a dick in all holes
of her body more than one time, Jenny knew that she wanted to do this. The problem was she didn t
know if she really wanted to do it, sure it was a nice fantasy. But she really was a one woman man,
and that was still her husband, even if he was boring. She wondered what her husband Tony would say
if he knew she wanted to be fucked by more than one man. He was never very adventurous. But
perhaps she could talk him into it. Or maybe she should just sneak out and do it without him. Her face

Review of a Correlational Study
Review of a correlational study
The use of correlational studies is dominant across multiple disciplines. The social sciences as well as
the natural sciences make generous use of correlational studies. Correlation is not causation (Babbie
2007). Consequently, correlational studies examine changes in two variables an independent and a
dependent variable. The intent of the correlational study is to measure the degree of linear association
between the two variables under investigation. The association between the two variables is measured
using the correlation coefficient, r. The Pearson s Product Moment correlation is the most robust
measure of correlation and is generally used with interval level data (Gravetter and Wallnau 2008).
The study examined for this review is a correlational study because it measured the linear relationship
between serum zinc levels and telomerase activity in bladder cancer patients. The researchers employ
the Pearson s Product Moment (PPM) correlation as the correlational measure for the research. This
use of PPM is consistent with the data collected and supports the underlying assumption of the test.
The researchers demonstrate a linear relationship between serum zinc levels and telomerase activity
using a scatter plot. The scatter plot is a legitimate graphical mechanism to identify linear relationships
(Nor큼sis 2008). Additionally, the study was explanatory rather than predictive. Explanatory studies
tend to be correlational in terms of the

Hunger in Ethiopia Essay
How would you feel if your body slowly turns on you, devouring the cells that make up your very
being? What would you do if you were so weak that you couldn t even hold a loved one in your arms?
How would you feel if you couldn t think straight because the pain of hunger was so intense? What
would you do..? Starvation results in a series of devastating events that can ultimately lead to death.
When a person eats, the body extracts needed nutrients for cellular maintenance and repair. This
requires energy which is provided for by the metabolism of the food. If we consume more than what is
required at that time, our body stores the excess as adipose tissue or fat. This fat serves as a reserve of
potential energy in times of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The location and geography of the country has caused the people to experience famine after famine,
leaving many to die from starvation. A famine is in definition, A great shortage or an extreme scarcity
of food over an extended period of time (Webster). There are several different types of famine that
occur in different types of the world. The type that Ethiopia generally goes through is called a
Ravallion. During a Ravallion famine, there are unusually large amounts of causalities with extreme
shortages of food in certain parts of the population. There are many things that cause famine, whether
it s draught, plague, or civil disrupt. Right now, Ethiopia is experiencing a draught that has killed
almost all of their crops. Because of the famines that Ethiopia experiences most every year, there is
usually an increase in the amount of people malnourished. This year, 11to 14 million people are
expected to go hungry leaving many to starve to death. Ethiopia has experienced many draughts like
these, the worst however, being in 1983. This draught lasted two years and the draught alone killed
over 400,000 people in one year, this doesn t include the deaths that were due to starvation
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1983%E2%80%931985_famine_in_Ethiopia). Another factor that causes
starvation in Ethiopia is its economy. Ethiopia is in and has always been in a very poor economic
state. Crops account for 41% of the country s GDP however; the

The Founder Of The Popular Fast Food Franchise
The founder of the popular fast food franchise, Wendy s, is Dave Thomas. He was born in Atlantic
City, New Jersey in 1932. Dave s adoptive mother died when he was still a child. He spent his
childhood moving from city to city while his adoptive father tried to find work. Dave spent a lot of
summers in Michigan with his Grandmother and she became a huge influence on Dave. She taught
Dave the importance of product quality, good service, and respect. Dave did not get a lot of alone time
with his father, but when they did they would go eat at neighborhood cafes that sold good burgers.
Dave loved watching families sit together and enjoy sharing a meal. These trips to cafes are what led
Dave to decide to own a restaurant one day. At age nine, Dave had become an expert on the type of
quality and service a business should provide. He began to work in the restaurant business at age 12,
but he was fired a lot because he was underage. Dave then began working at the restaurant Hobby
House at age 15. He started as a bus boy and eventually moved to the front of the kitchen. Dave knew
that if he was going to own a restaurant one day, he would need to know how to do every job. His
family moved again and he stayed behind. Dave lived alone at the YMCA at age 15. After he went
into the army at age 18, Dave returned to the Hobby House and eventually married one of the
waitresses. He also met Colonel Harland Sanders who founded the Kentucky Fried Chicken franchise.

CANADA
Canada is a multi cultural country as it is home to many races and ethnicities. As of 2011, the ethnicity
with the largest number of population is none other than Filipinos. According to www.cic.gc.ca (2012)
Filipinos are in the first place as having the largest population of immigrants who are permanently
residing in Canada. The growth of Filipinos living in Canada has been showing a positive trend, as
there are only 11,011Filipinos in 2002 as compared to the 34,991 permanent Filipino residents in
2011. This would also come as a positive prospect for Jollibee to expand to Canada. Having potential
customers who probably have the same customer base with customers in Philippines would benefit
Jollibee because it might reflect the success Jollibee has in the Philippines. The number of Filipinos in
Canada is another opportunity for Jollibee to deliver a taste of home to Canadian Filipino residents.
In accordance with euromonitor s (2014) research, Canadians have been constantly on the lookout for
new items on fast food restaurants. Apparently, this has contributed to the fast food industry s
improving performance. For instance, Canadian Business stated that there has been interest on new
restaurants that offers new concepts (Borzykowski, 2015). A Mediterranean concept restaurant called

Wealth Inequality in the Bible
The Correlation Between Economic and Moral Disparity
What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? Or what can a man
give in exchange for his soul (NIV Matthew 16:26). The Bible does not directly condemn monetary
prosperity. However, Jesus warns that the love of riches leads men further from the Kingdom of God
and into a false idolization of wealth. This monetary worship pulls man away from God, and tears the
seams of brotherhood that bond men together. Today, this bond between men has never been so frail
and apathy has never been so vigorous. Millions of people die every year from preventable causes,
including hunger, disease and countless other conditions, all derived from poverty. At ... Show more

Professor of ecology and evolution, Peter Turchin, describes the condition of the U.S. with a few
statistics, Today, the top one per cent of incomes in the United States accounts for one fifth of US
earnings. The top one per cent of fortunes holds two fifths of the total wealth. Just one rich family, the
six heirs of the brothers Sam and James Walton, founders of Walmart, are worth more than the bottom
40 per cent of the American population combined. (Cite) Turchin also analyzes economic inequality
within the United States over the past 200 years. Within the time frame of the 1800s to the 1920s,
economic inequality increased more than a hundredfold. Then from this point until the 1980s there
was a period known as the Great Compression where economic equality grew. Over the past 40 years
the trend has turned back towards inequality, and we find ourselves reentering an elitist,
discriminatory system. Using historical economic patterns, the U.S. appears to have entered a new era
of stagnation for economic equality.
While theories such as trickle down economics support the wealthy creating more wealth for the lower
income levels there is more evidence elaborating the benefits of living in a country with higher
economic equality. When there are higher levels of economic equality countries enjoy more political
stability, better health conditions, and a better outlook on the nation and jointly, life. The following

Gonadtrophin Releasing Hormone Research Paper
Gonadtrophin releasing hormone (GnRH) is made in the hypothalamus
GnRH is released into the anterior pituitary gland and here it stimulates the production of follicle
stimulating hormone (FSH) and lutenising hormone (LH).
FSH and LH are able to enter the follicle (a fluid filled cavity that surrounds and protects the
developing egg cell) through the capillaries in the ovaries. The cycle begins when the female sheds the
lining of the uterus in a period. This continues for 3 7 days and GnRH is secreted by the hypothalamus
from the first day of the cycle.
There are countless follicles in the ovaries and only some will mature and only one of these will

A secondary corpus luteum develops
Progesterone is the most important hormone as after ovulation (during the luteal phase) progesterone
levels will increase slowly. This will suppress the GnRH release which in turn will diminish the
release of LH and FSH (these hormones are not required at this stage of the cycle).
Having reached its optimum level Oestrogen will now slowly decline.
The main effect of progesterone is that it stimulates endometrium growth if an egg is implanted there.
The follicle will continue to produce progesterone to form a placenta which supplies the foetus with
nutrients from the mother.
The decrease in progesterone and oestrogen means the endometrium will shed its lining. This is a
period.
If ovulation does not occur the corpus luteum degenerates to allow a new set of follicles to mature.
All the hormones produced by the corpus luteum will decrease.
Progesterone will decrease during degeneration so it will not be able to inhibit GnRH release so
GnRH levels will rise and this will allow a new cycle to commence as FSH and LH are secreted into
the ovarian capillaries.
This 28 day cycle will now re commence as it is

Reflective Models Used by Nurses Essay
Reflective Practice Introduction: Reflection its self is looking into personal thoughts and actions. For
nurses this would mean looking at how they performed a particular task taking into consideration their
interaction with their colleagues and other members of staff, patients and in some cases relatives This
then enables the nurse to assess their actions and thought processes. There are various frameworks of
reflection that one could choose and the examples used for this work is by Gibbs (1988), Johns (2000)
and Benner (1982) Gibbs: Gibbs reflective cycle encourages one to think in order about the different
areas of an experience. It is presented in a number of questions that the reflective practitioner ... Show

John s model (1995) for structured reflection adopts a humanistic view seeing the nurse and patient as

(1998,2005) It gives the user many more questions to answer instead of letting the practitioner find
their own way from section to section of the model. The Model: How could I handle this better in a
similar situation? What would be the consequences of alternative actions? How did my actions match
my beliefs? How do I feel about the situation? Has this changed my ways of knowing? A model of
structured reflection (10th version) Johns, 1995. As one can see this method of reflection is rather
prescriptive asking many questions but maybe this idea helps some practioners reflect without missing
anything they perceive as being important. To engage in such a deep level of reflection requires the
personal and daily practice of the nurse to undertake this commitment for ontological development of
one s self. A model of structured reflection (10th version) Johns ( 1995). Benner: Benner is a nursing
theorist who came up with a specific framework. Her Book from which the framework originally
comes looks at the knowledge within clinical nurse practice and uses the Dreyfus model of skill
acquisition used in nursing. Prentice Hall (2001). Her framework was produced to enable nurses to put

Montag s Influences in Farenheit 451 Essay
In the novel, FAHRENHEIT 451 by Ray Bradbury, Guy Montag lives in an inverted society, where
firemen make fires instead of put them out, and pedestrians are used as bowling pins for cars that are
excessively speeding. The people on this society are hypnotized by giant wall size televisions and
seashell radios that are attached to everyone s ears. People in Montag s society do not think for
themselves or even generate their own opinions; everything is given to them by the television stations
they watch. In this society, if someone is in possession of a book, their books are burned by the
firemen, but not only their books, but their entire home. Montag begins realizing that the things in this
society are not right. Montag is influenced and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The psychiatrist wants to know why I go out and hike around in the forests and watch the birds and
collect butterflies (Bradbury, 23). This quotation shows that Clarisse is considered different in this
society, and she must see a psychiatrist because she admires nature. Clarisse influences Montag by
admiring nature, because Montag is now starting to realize the beauty of nature, and beginning to
develop his own opinion. Clarisse strongly influenced Montag after her death. We cannot tell the
precise moment when friendship is formed. As in filling a vessel drop by drop, that is a last drop
which makes it run over; so in a series of kindness there is at last one which makes the heart run over
(Bradbury, 71) This quotation shows that Montag is starting to have feelings unlike the rest of society.
Clarisse has come to influence Montag through her questions, her admiration of nature and her death.
Clarisse influenced Montag enough to get him to begin having feelings. Although Clarisse influenced
Montag to begin feeling emotions, the fire on Elm Street was a big influence for Montag. Secondly,
the fire at 11 Elm Street greatly influenced Montag. The fire showed Montag how important books
are. The fire also makes Montag curious about why books would be so important that the lady would
die for them. The fire on Elm Street influenced Montag by the lady dying for her books, Montag
stealing the books and his fellow firemen not feeling any remorse. When the lady

Benefits Of Going Into The Workforce
When one chooses to go to college, they are investing in their future career. Once a young adult leaves
high school they have a choice to either go to college or to go into the workforce. When deciding
which path they will take, they must look at both the benefits and disadvantages. The advantage to
going straight into the workforce is being able to immediately start their profession of choice and do
not have to pay off expensive college loans. The disadvantage to going straight into the workforce is
the fact that in today s job market, there are not many high paying jobs that do not require a degree.
However, the benefit of going to college is that careers that require a college degree are often high
paying and come with worker s benefits. College affords the student to develop and master academic
and social skills. Companies and employers are not willing to invest time and money into prospects
without those skills or a formal education. The disadvantage to going to college is brought upon
because college tuition has doubled in the past ten years, which makes college unaffordable without
being overwhelmed by student loans for the rest of one s life (Graff 179). The differences between
these two paths make the decision to go to college one of the most influential decisions of an
individual s entire life. Each of these paths have their advantages and disadvantages, but in the long
run, going to college is more beneficial than going straight into the workforce. Even if one

In Marry Shelly s Frankenstein, perception plays a key part in the monsters icy demise. Not only is the
story affected by how the villagers perceive the monster, but the readers perception, like in any literary
work, plays the role of ultimate judge. Most responses to Frankenstein are derived directly from pop

If the creature were to be asked questions such as Who are you? What are you? Where do you come
from? he would be hard pressed for an answer. However, there are certain subtle clues in the text to
point to the Creature possibly being of the Mongolian/Asian race using the th Century descriptions of
man.
UCLA professor Anne K. Mellor points to the Creature s Mongolian race by noting that at the
beginning of the novel, Walton and his men have set off on their voyage to China by way of the North
Pole.
Mary Shelley describes this newborn giant as having yellow skin, black and flowing hair, the dun
white or light grey brown of both irises of his eyes and sockets. The Creature is definitely not
Caucasian, nor is he the same race as his maker. Even the character known as Walton notices the
difference in appearance between Victor and the traveller preceding him, as he notes Victor was not as
the other traveller seemed to be, a savage inhabitant of some undisclosed island, but an European.
When the monster meets Frankenstein for the first true meeting in the novel, he steals away the
scientist and takes him to his cave where he has stayed. He tells him the story of his

Dramatic Irony In A Midsummer Night s Dream
ne classic way to create comedy is through dramatic irony. Irony takes place when words, actions, or
plot development contradict what is intended or expected to happen. This element occurs when a
reader or viewer knows more about a character s current situation than the character does. Dramatic
irony is utilised throughout A Midsummer Night s Dream and parts of Modern Family . This comedic
convention especially relates to how the audience perceives the four lovers circumstances in A
Midsummer Night s Dream . Throughout the entire play, the audience knows why the four lovers are
in conflict and confused, but the lovers have no idea of what is happening to them. For instance
Helena gets angry at Lysander, Demetrius and Hermia for making fun

The Controversial Issues Of Abortion
One of the most highly controversial issues plaguing our country today is that of abortion. This debate
arose in the mid to late 1800 s when states began passing laws to make abortion illegal ( History of
Abortion ). Although each law varied from state to state, the reason for making it illegal seemed to be
similar: All surgical procedures, including abortion, were risky and hospitals and well practiced
doctors were not common in most areas. Back alley abortions (illegal abortions) were very common
during this time. Even when the scientific methods and technology became more advanced, women
were still getting unsafe abortions. It wasn t until the Roe v. Wade debate in 1973 that women were
able to get a safe, legal abortion from a well trained medical professional. It also ruled that women had
their right to privacy, and it was the women s right to decide whether or not she would have children.
There have been many restrictions and guidelines put on abortion such as parental involvement,
mandatory waiting periods, and biased counseling. As of right now, abortion is legal. Abortion should
remain legal because of the following issues child bearing women can potentially face: medical issues,
safety concerns, and rape/incest situations. Women considering abortion may be undergoing this
procedure due to very serious medical issues, either with the child or themselves. A common, fatal
condition in children where most women choose to terminate their pregnancy is Trisomy 18.

Favorite Engine Research Paper
What is your favorite engine out of the 454, 429 and the 426 Hemi? All three of them are good
engines. They are Chevy, Ford, and Dodge engines. They were all high output engines. They are
engines good for 400+ HP. My three favorite things are the 454, 429, and the 426 Hemi. The 454 is
going to be in this first paragraph. The 454 peaked at 460 hp. The factory rating was said to be
underrated. It had a 4.250 bore and a 4 stroke. It was one of GM s big blocks. It did not have the
biggest displacement but it was the one of the highest rated engines. It was a truck engine meaning it
was a heavier block and had 4 bolt mains. It was used in vehicles like the Chevelle SS and 1 ton or
heavier trucks. The 429 is in this paragraph. The 429 was in

Features Of King Lear
There are many aspects of Shakespeare s King Lear which combine to ensure it continues to resonate
with modern audiences Discuss.
King Lear is a timeless piece of thought provoking drama. Shakespeare s genius has ensured that it
continues to resonate with audiences over 400 years after being written. It depicts intriguing aspects of
human nature that are still relevant today. These include corruption, deception, and filial strife.
Shakespeare also portrays a cast of excellently drawn characters to engage the audience throughout
while simultaneously personifying virtue, evil, and hubris. This excellent play which continues to
resonate with modern audiences is most spectacular for the fact that it is a beautifully crafted piece of
drama throughout. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It allows audiences, present and past, an insight into the minds of the characters. This allows them a
deeper understanding of the plot and each character themselves. Edmund uses soliloquy throughout,
initially outlining his Machiavellian intentions when saying Wherefore should I stand in the plague of
custom? This engages the audience and offers them an insight into how the play will unfold. Cordelia
also talks in soliloquy as she professes her desire to aid her father, Restoration hang thy medicine upon
my lips and let this kiss repair those harms that my sister in thy reverence have made . The importance
of soliloquy and it s contribution to the play is shown by the modern drama House of Cards in which it
is also employed. It engages the audience and ensures that they enjoy the play and never lose interest
as they are given a 3rd dimension into the characters and an intimate understanding of their

Implementation Of A New Operating System
Ava s software company has received a contract to design an operating system which runs and
operates a computer system used to handle stock buying and selling process. Which scheduling
strategy would you recommend for this new operating system? Please support your answer and
provide reasons for it. (10 points)
Ans) In the computer world, multitasking is a method where multiple tasks or processes are performed
during the same period of time that is they are executed concurrently. Multitasking doesn t necessarily
means that multiple tasks are executing at exactly the same instant. As such, more than one
undertaking can be part path through execution in the meantime, and that more than one errand is
propelling more than a time of time is called multitasking, not at all like parallel execution. Operating
system might adopt one of many scheduling strategies, which normally fall into the following
categories:
1) Multiprogramming: In these systems, the running task keeps running until it performs an operation
that requires waiting for an external event or until the running task is forcibly swapped out of the CPU
by the computer s scheduler. These systems are designed to maximize the processor usage.
The above figures show that memory can expand to hold three, four or more programs and switch
among all of them.
2) Time Sharing: In these systems, the running task is required to abandon the processor, either
willingly or by an outside event such as hardware interrupt. Time

The Importance Of Colors In Gilead
Imagery, particularly when describing beautiful colors before Gilead and contrasting them with the
dull colors described in Gilead reveal how drastically life has changed. Offred mentions that in the
past when she took her daughter to get ice cream, everything was colored so delicately, pale orange,
pale green, pale pink and that her daughter, dressed in similar ice cream pastels would choose her treat
by the color (Atwood 165). In life before Gilead, colors were vivid and cheerful, something to make
objects more enjoyable to look at. People could wear whatever color they please, and colors had no
additional meaning to them other than to show people had freedom to make their own decisions.
However, in Gilead, color imagery shows the lack of decision and the rigid societal structure the
government imposes. Each group has their own colors even in minor aspects of life, such as with
umbrellas categorized as black, for the Commander, blue, for the Commander s Wife, and the one
assigned to [Offred], which is red (Atwood 9). Each color labels members of the society as part of a
certain category and defines their roles without further consideration. Here, colors serve as a way to
restrict peoples freedoms unlike when colors previously served as way to enhance freedom of choice
and expression. In Gilead, The women... are color coded to strip them of their individual identities and
to mark their social status and relationships to men restricting everyone s freedom, even the

Aristotle s Philosophy On The View Of Friendship
Aristotle was an ancient Greek philosopher. Aristotle s philosophy was his logical concept. Aristotle s
objective was to come up with a universal process of reasoning that would allow man to learn every
imaginable thing about reality. He wrote on a vast amount of subjects during his lifetime, such as
biology, chemistry, physics, ethics and logic. Aristotle wrote a book called, Nicomachean Ethics. This
book describes the view of friendship. He also describes three different type of friendship, which in
reality is exactly how friendship is in today society. The question while reading this information is
what is friendship in Aristotle point of view? Aristotle believes that there are three different kinds of
friendship; that of utility, friendship of pleasure, and virtuous friendship. In his book he describe
exactly what each type of friendship really is. Friendship that is of utility is where both people derive
some benefit from each other. Is like saying that these people are friends from each other by gaining
something else from the other. They are not friends for the good of it; they are friends because there
are benefits coming from them. Aristotle describes a friendship of utility as narrow, easily dissolved or
for the old. He views them as such because this type of friendship is easily broken and based on
something that is brought to the relationship by the other person. Most of the people that have this
type of friendship are the young people. They do not know

The Pros and Cons of an Unwritten Constitution in the UK...
The Advantages and Disadvantages of an Unwritten Constitution in the UK
The UK has an unwritten constitution unlike the U.S.A. Instead Britain s laws, policies and codes are
developed through statutes, common law, convention and more recently E.U law. It is misleading to
call the British constitution unwritten; a more precise form of classification would be un codified. This
means that the British constitution has no single document, which states principles and rules of a state.
However, The British constitution clearly sets out how political power is allocated and where it is
legally located. The British constitution is still visible and it defines composition and powers of the
main offices and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An example of this is the in corporation of E.U laws into UK laws. Since parliament passed the
European communities Act in 1972 Britain has accepted the superiority of European law. The House
of Lords has judged certain English laws to be unlawful in light of EU legislation.
Another advantage of an unwritten or un codified constitution is that it is evolutionary because it
develops with historical changes. An example of this is when parliament in the UK took total
sovereignty away from the monarchy in 1867. Changes to the British constitution reflect a changing
balance of power. The constitution is important even though it is not written form because it formed
the basis of the separation of power that we now have, for example between the Lords and the
Commons. This also shows the flexibility of the constitution.
An advantage of the UK constitution is that it takes into account of changing views. For example, in
1997 the changing of the hereditary peer system and also further reforms to change the structure of
parliament. It is good that the British constitution will always takes into account these changes.
However, there are disadvantages to an un written constitution. A written constitution is considered the
highest form of law and is respected because of this. There is no such principle in the British
constitution because sovereignty lies with Parliament.

Famous Dinner Research Paper
The Famous Dinner Party
The food is made, the table is set, the room is decorated with turkeys, leaves, and pumpkins. Perfect
for thanksgiving. The whole room smelled like turkey, ham, and pumpkin pie.
Mmm, it smells great in here, said Harry, as he walked through the big brown doors of the great hall.
Thanks Harry, I m so glad you came, but why are you here so early? I asked.
What do you mean I m here early? I m right on time, it s 4 o clock. Where is everyone else? He asked.
Thanksgiving dinner doesn t start until 5 o clock. You must have read the invitation wrong. I
answered.
Oh, whoops. I guess I can help you with whatever else you need to do before everyone else gets here,
Harry offered.
I already have everything done, but you can keep me company while we wait for everyone to get here,
I suggested. We are still waiting on Taylor, Cole and Donkey.
They sat down at the table and waited.
I can t believe I m back at Hogwarts, it feels like only yesterday that I got sorted into Gryffindor, he
said.
They waited some more until finally,
I m here!!!!!! screamed Donkey as he barged through the big brown doors, Let s get this party started.
I m starving,
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but we still have to wait for Cole, and Taylor to get here, I
explained.
Ughh groaned Donkey. * * *
Finally, Cole and Taylor got there. Hey guys, How s your thanksgiving so far? asked Cole. It s great!

What Is The Theme Of Battle Royal By Ralph Ellison
A Not so Royal Battle
There may be times when we are powerless to prevent injustice, but there must never be a time when
we fail to protest (Wiesel). Battle Royal, a short story by Ralph Ellison, marks the resolution of the
Civil War and slavery in the United States. The narrator s grandfather, who was freed from slavery 85
years earlier, had just died. The narrator was chosen to give a speech in an ensemble of rich whites. In
the beginning, it seems as though he s hesitant on reciting his speech, but he is blindfolded with
multiple others and put into a boxing ring where all of them fight. Not to mention, he was beaten
badly.
In addition, he has to fight with Tatlock, but now the blindfold has been taken off by the Whites once
again he is beaten. He and the others are then put around a rug and are told to get the coins or
crumpled up bills, but little did they know that the rug was electrified. So as they raced to get the
money, they were shocked. Then the MC tells him that he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I say that this is about the war but it is the war that the narrator is blinded because of these three main
points: the mention of fighting, symbolism, and animal imagery.
The grandfather mentioned in the beginning of the story to keep up the good fight (Ellison 247). War
is the topic, such as fighting for what is right unlike combat war; in which the narrator was blind to.
Racial relations in the United States, even after the end of the Civil War, and the era of
Reconstruction, are described as an ongoing war, and the struggle of African Americans to gain
equality is referred to as the good fight (Brent 2). Gaining equal right as the Whites are what the
African Americans want. Our life is a war (Trimmer 46). Life is war because people are always
fighting for what is right. The narrator thought that everything that happened was actually fine. He
wasn t upset by it at all as long as he got to do his speech. As a matter of fact, he was

Water Crisis in Pakistan
WATER CRISIS IN PAKISTAN
GENERAL
1. Pakistan has been blessed with abandoned water resources, with water flowing down from
Himalayas and Karakorum, the world s largest glaciers, a unique bounty of nature. As a result of this
natural resource today we have the world s largest irrigation system that irrigates over 16 million
hectors of land, out of 34 million hectors of cultivable land available.
2. Basically there are two major sources of water i.e surface and ground water. In surface water we
have Indus Basin (it include Indus plains , Kabul , Astor , Jehlum , Chenab and Sutlej), Kharan Desert
(it include Pishin lora , Baddo Rakshan Mashkhel ) and Makran coastal basin (it include Malir , Hub ,
Porali , Kud , Hingol , Dasht ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
d. Industries related to the main crops like rice, wheat, cotton, sugarcane will also suffer in case of
water shortage.
e. The distribution of water is controlled by IRSA (Indus River System Authority) between the
provinces. The shortage of water will cause disputes between the provinces, which may cause harm to
the national integrity.
ANALYSIS Pakistan is one of the poor countries of the world with a high rate of increase in the
population. On the other hand the growth rate is decreasing due to water shortages. We will need to
bring under our use additional lands for cultivation. Pakistan has already slided from water happy
country to a water scarce country. This is going to be a cause of social and political riots, which are
not at all good for the security of the country. So for overcoming the water crises following steps are
recommended
RECOMMENDATIONS
The water strategy must be based upon two essential elements covering
Water development
Water management
The water development strategy is largely based upon the construction of new storage reservoirs
where as the water management strategy will help in reducing the present losses. In this regard we
should start the construction of the following dams immediately:
a. Chasha dam
b. Kalabagh dam
c. Thal reservoir
d. Raised Mangla dam
e. Mirani dam
f. Gomalzam dam In the water management we must chalk out a strategy, in this way we can save

The Civil War On America
The Civil War was a big moment in history. Many Americans know what it is and have come to
appreciate it. The Civil war made big changes to America and society. Although things are not perfect
in America today, the Civil War effected society in a big way and changed many people over a period
of time. Thus, America was made a better place as a whole and improved drastically. The war started
in 1861 and ended in 1865. The Civil war was fought for many reasons and numerous factors caused
the war. For example, around this time period Northern, or free states had many differences between
Southern, or slave states. This included the power of the national government to prohibit slavery in the
territories that had not yet become states 2 When Abraham Lincoln became President in 1860 he
pledged to the people that he would keep slavery out of the territories. In turn, seven slave states that
were in the deep South seceded, or separated from, the nation and made a new nation widely known as
the Confederate States of America. Many Northerners chose not to take the secession seriously and
failed to recognize that the Southern states were authentic about what they were doing. Though other
people did not seem to care too much, Abraham Lincoln did. He gave his First Inaugural speech to a
broken nation in March of 1861, the year the war started. One of the first things that Lincoln said in
his speech was that Apprehension seems to exist among the people of the Southern

Problem Definition FiWi (Fiber Wireless) networks are designed using the wireless networks such as WLANs and fiber networks like PONs (Passive Optical Networks). Therefore FiWi networks having advantages of both users mobility support as well as high bandwidth. But the major problem with this networks is as the number of mobile user s increases, queueing delay is increasing in FiWi s Optical Network Unit (ONU). There are number of methods recently proposed for minimizing this queueing delay for bandwidth allocation. However, this methods are only working on PONs and WLANs and hence not considering the state of ONU. Therefore performance of FiWi networks is poor in terms of throughput and queuing delay. For any kind of FiWi networks improving its performance in terms of throughput is very vital. This can be possible by presenting the efficient queueing delay minimization method for FiWi networks. This is main research problem for this domain. 2. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Erich Remarque s The Red Badge Of Courage Essay Erich Remarque A. Wheen John Groth Printed at the Spiral Press for the individuals from the Limited Editions Club 1969. Looked into By, Michael Anderson, Shepherd University. Erich Maria Remarque was conceived in Osnabruck, Germany, in 1898 into a lower working class family. In 1916, he was drafted into the German armed force to battle in World War I, in which he was gravely injured. Ten years after the war finished, he distributed I m Western Nights Neuse, converted into English a year later as All Quiet on the Western Front, a novel about the encounters of conventional German fighters amid the war. In spite of the fact that different books, most strikingly Stephen Crane s The Red Badge of Courage (1895), had investigated the viciousness and severity of war in a sensible light, the abstract convention of war stories still tended overwhelmingly toward romanticized beliefs of eminence, enterprise, and respect. In introducing his dismally reasonable variant of an officer s experience, Remarque stripped the common sentimentalism from the war story in the staunchly antiwar All Quiet on the Western Front. The novel immediately turned into a universal, widely praised achievement. An American motion picture in light of the book was discharged in 1930. After Adolf Hitler s ascent to control in Germany in the mid 1930s, the furiously nationalistic Nazi administration assaulted All Quiet on the Western Front and Remarque as unpatriotic. Remarque made no endeavor to oppose ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Essay On Energy Recovery Energy Recovery Anaerobic treatment gives a high potential of energy recovery from wastewater in form of biogas. The effluent can also serve industrial heating and cooling purposes. Wastewater has a huge potential of electricity generation. Technologies exist for on site energy recovery through sludge/biosolids treatment processes integrated in wastewater treatment plants, allowing for transition from major energy consumers to energy producers. Strict standards for discharge often require energy intensive advanced treatment technologies. As a result, the number of plants using advanced treatment has increased [17]. Rising energy costs and concerns about greenhouse gas generation present a major incentive for tracking energy usage of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Biogas is a mixture essentially comprising mostly methane (CH4, around 55 75%) but also contains carbon dioxide (CO2, around 25 30%), varying quantities of water (H2O) and hydrogen sulphide (H2S). The thermal energy available from the methane contained in biogas is about 6 to 8 kWh/m3. This corresponds to half a litre of diesel oil and 5.5 kg of firewood [21]. 4.2 Microbial Fuel Cell Technology Wastewater treatment is an energy intensive process, consuming about 1,900 kJ/m3 of treated wastewater [22]. Wastewater contains almost 9 times more energy than the energy used to treat an equivalent volume, thus creating the need to harness this energy through the use of a Microbial Fuel Cell (MFC) [22]. Microbial Fuel cell (MFC) is a device designed for electricity generation in the process of wastewater treatment [23]. Microbial fuel cell is a new form of renewable energy, which uses bacteria in wastewater to convert organic matter into electricity, while simultaneously treating the wastewater. MFCs can provide an answer to several of the problems which traditional wastewater treatment faces. They enable the recovery of energy out of the wastewater, while limiting both the energy input and the excess sludge production [24]. 5.0 Nutrient recovery Wastewater nutrients are resources that can generate revenues for treatment plants while helping meet environmental regulations. Wastewater and municipal sludge, can be a reliable source of nutrients, in particular ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Sexual Adventure Jenny was bored with her life and her marriage. She wanted to spice up her life and her time in the bedroom. For the longest time she had been wondering why her husband only wanted to have sex one time a month, and then it was only in one position; missionary. There was nothing new to their love making, it had always been the same. But after twenty years of marriage, she d enough, and wanted something new. She went to a web page she had heard some co workers talking about and looked around. Her eyes were wide with wonder why ll she read stories of sexual adventure. She could feel her body getting hotter as she read more and more stories of how girls allowed males to use their bodies. Not just one man, but several. It was called a gangbang, and she felt her pussy clench as she wondered what it would feel like. Pulling her panties down she pushed a finger into her wet hole as she read the story of a woman who had allowed five guys to do her. The woman had a dick in all holes of her body more than one time, Jenny knew that she wanted to do this. The problem was she didn t know if she really wanted to do it, sure it was a nice fantasy. But she really was a one woman man, and that was still her husband, even if he was boring. She wondered what her husband Tony would say if he knew she wanted to be fucked by more than one man. He was never very adventurous. But perhaps she could talk him into it. Or maybe she should just sneak out and do it without him. Her face ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Review of a Correlational Study Review of a correlational study The use of correlational studies is dominant across multiple disciplines. The social sciences as well as the natural sciences make generous use of correlational studies. Correlation is not causation (Babbie 2007). Consequently, correlational studies examine changes in two variables an independent and a dependent variable. The intent of the correlational study is to measure the degree of linear association between the two variables under investigation. The association between the two variables is measured using the correlation coefficient, r. The Pearson s Product Moment correlation is the most robust measure of correlation and is generally used with interval level data (Gravetter and Wallnau 2008). The study examined for this review is a correlational study because it measured the linear relationship between serum zinc levels and telomerase activity in bladder cancer patients. The researchers employ the Pearson s Product Moment (PPM) correlation as the correlational measure for the research. This use of PPM is consistent with the data collected and supports the underlying assumption of the test. The researchers demonstrate a linear relationship between serum zinc levels and telomerase activity using a scatter plot. The scatter plot is a legitimate graphical mechanism to identify linear relationships (Nor큼sis 2008). Additionally, the study was explanatory rather than predictive. Explanatory studies tend to be correlational in terms of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What would you do if you were so weak that you couldn t even hold a loved one in your arms? How would you feel if you couldn t think straight because the pain of hunger was so intense? What would you do..? Starvation results in a series of devastating events that can ultimately lead to death. When a person eats, the body extracts needed nutrients for cellular maintenance and repair. This requires energy which is provided for by the metabolism of the food. If we consume more than what is required at that time, our body stores the excess as adipose tissue or fat. This fat serves as a reserve of potential energy in times of a ... During a Ravallion famine, there are unusually large amounts of causalities with extreme shortages of food in certain parts of the population. There are many things that cause famine, whether it s draught, plague, or civil disrupt. Right now, Ethiopia is experiencing a draught that has killed almost all of their crops. Because of the famines that Ethiopia experiences most every year, there is usually an increase in the amount of people malnourished. This year, 11to 14 million people are expected to go hungry leaving many to starve to death. Ethiopia has experienced many draughts like these, the worst however, being in 1983. Dave s adoptive mother died when he was still a child. He spent his childhood moving from city to city while his adoptive father tried to find work. Dave spent a lot of summers in Michigan with his Grandmother and she became a huge influence on Dave. She taught Dave the importance of product quality, good service, and respect. Dave did not get a lot of alone time with his father, but when they did they would go eat at neighborhood cafes that sold good burgers. Dave loved watching families sit together and enjoy sharing a meal. These trips to cafes are what led Dave to decide to own a restaurant one day. At age nine, Dave had become an expert on the type of quality and service a business should provide. He began to work in the restaurant business at age 12, but he was fired a lot because he was underage. Dave then began working at the restaurant Hobby House at age 15. He started as a bus boy and eventually moved to the front of the kitchen. Dave knew that if he was going to own a restaurant one day, he would need to know how to do every job. His family moved again and he stayed behind. Dave lived alone at the YMCA at age 15. After he went into the army at age 18, Dave returned to the Hobby House and eventually married one of the waitresses. It first started its foreign expansion to Singapore, and today it has expanded to 9 countries including United States. There are countless countries withholding potential for Jollibee s expansion, and several of them will be discussed in the following discourse. The growth of Filipinos living in Canada has been showing a positive trend, as there are only 11,011Filipinos in 2002 as compared to the 34,991 permanent Filipino residents in 2011. This would also come as a positive prospect for Jollibee to expand to Canada. • 12. Wealth Inequality in the Bible The Correlation Between Economic and Moral Disparity What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul (NIV Matthew 16:26). The Bible does not directly condemn monetary prosperity. However, Jesus warns that the love of riches leads men further from the Kingdom of God and into a false idolization of wealth. This monetary worship pulls man away from God, and tears the seams of brotherhood that bond men together. Today, this bond between men has never been so frail and apathy has never been so vigorous. Professor of ecology and evolution, Peter Turchin, describes the condition of the U.S. with a few statistics, Today, the top one per cent of incomes in the United States accounts for one fifth of US earnings. The top one per cent of fortunes holds two fifths of the total wealth. Just one rich family, the six heirs of the brothers Sam and James Walton, founders of Walmart, are worth more than the bottom 40 per cent of the American population combined. (Cite) Turchin also analyzes economic inequality within the United States over the past 200 years. Within the time frame of the 1800s to the 1920s, economic inequality increased more than a hundredfold. Then from this point until the 1980s there was a period known as the Great Compression where economic equality grew. Over the past 40 years the trend has turned back towards inequality, and we find ourselves reentering an elitist, discriminatory system. Using historical economic patterns, the U.S. appears to have entered a new era of stagnation for economic equality. While theories such as trickle down economics support the wealthy creating more wealth for the lower income levels there is more evidence elaborating the benefits of living in a country with higher economic equality. When there are higher levels of economic equality countries enjoy more political stability, better health conditions, and a better outlook on the nation and jointly, life. Gonadtrophin Releasing Hormone Research Paper Gonadtrophin releasing hormone (GnRH) is made in the hypothalamus GnRH is released into the anterior pituitary gland and here it stimulates the production of follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and lutenising hormone (LH). FSH and LH are able to enter the follicle (a fluid filled cavity that surrounds and protects the developing egg cell) through the capillaries in the ovaries. The cycle begins when the female sheds the lining of the uterus in a period. This continues for 3 7 days and GnRH is secreted by the hypothalamus from the first day of the cycle. There are countless follicles in the ovaries and only some will mature and only one of these will ovulate and produce an egg. FSH will enter the follicles and stimulate maturation of the primary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A secondary corpus luteum develops Progesterone is the most important hormone as after ovulation (during the luteal phase) progesterone levels will increase slowly. This will suppress the GnRH release which in turn will diminish the release of LH and FSH (these hormones are not required at this stage of the cycle). Having reached its optimum level Oestrogen will now slowly decline. The main effect of progesterone is that it stimulates endometrium growth if an egg is implanted there. The follicle will continue to produce progesterone to form a placenta which supplies the foetus with nutrients from the mother. The decrease in progesterone and oestrogen means the endometrium will shed its lining. This is a period. If ovulation does not occur the corpus luteum degenerates to allow a new set of follicles to mature. All the hormones produced by the corpus luteum will decrease. Progesterone will decrease during degeneration so it will not be able to inhibit GnRH release so GnRH levels will rise and this will allow a new cycle to commence as FSH and LH are secreted into the ovarian capillaries.

For nurses this would mean looking at how they performed a particular task taking into consideration their interaction with their colleagues and other members of staff, patients and in some cases relatives This then enables the nurse to assess their actions and thought processes. There are various frameworks of reflection that one could choose and the examples used for this work is by Gibbs (1988), Johns (2000) and Benner (1982) Gibbs: Gibbs reflective cycle encourages one to think in order about the different areas of an experience. It is presented in a number of questions that the reflective practitioner ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... John s model (1995) for structured reflection adopts a humanistic view seeing the nurse and patient as equal partners in creating the environment for care . Dawn Freshwater, Christopher Johns. (1998,2005) It gives the user many more questions to answer instead of letting the practitioner find their own way from section to section of the model. The Model: How could I handle this better in a similar situation? What would be the consequences of alternative actions? How did my actions match my beliefs? How do I feel about the situation? Has this changed my ways of knowing? A model of structured reflection (10th version) Johns, 1995. As one can see this method of reflection is rather prescriptive asking many questions but maybe this idea helps some practioners reflect without missing anything they perceive as being important. • 16. Montag s Influences in Farenheit 451 Essay In the novel, FAHRENHEIT 451 by Ray Bradbury, Guy Montag lives in an inverted society, where firemen make fires instead of put them out, and pedestrians are used as bowling pins for cars that are excessively speeding. The people on this society are hypnotized by giant wall size televisions and seashell radios that are attached to everyone s ears. People in Montag s society do not think for themselves or even generate their own opinions; everything is given to them by the television stations they watch. In this society, if someone is in possession of a book, their books are burned by the firemen, but not only their books, but their entire home. Montag begins realizing that the things in this society are not right. Montag is influenced and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The psychiatrist wants to know why I go out and hike around in the forests and watch the birds and collect butterflies (Bradbury, 23). This quotation shows that Clarisse is considered different in this society, and she must see a psychiatrist because she admires nature. Clarisse influences Montag by admiring nature, because Montag is now starting to realize the beauty of nature, and beginning to develop his own opinion. Clarisse strongly influenced Montag after her death. We cannot tell the precise moment when friendship is formed. As in filling a vessel drop by drop, that is a last drop which makes it run over; so in a series of kindness there is at last one which makes the heart run over (Bradbury, 71) This quotation shows that Montag is starting to have feelings unlike the rest of society. Clarisse has come to influence Montag through her questions, her admiration of nature and her death. Clarisse influenced Montag enough to get him to begin having feelings. Although Clarisse influenced Montag to begin feeling emotions, the fire on Elm Street was a big influence for Montag. Secondly, the fire at 11 Elm Street greatly influenced Montag. The fire showed Montag how important books are. The fire also makes Montag curious about why books would be so important that the lady would die for them. Once a young adult leaves high school they have a choice to either go to college or to go into the workforce. When deciding which path they will take, they must look at both the benefits and disadvantages. The advantage to going straight into the workforce is being able to immediately start their profession of choice and do not have to pay off expensive college loans. The disadvantage to going straight into the workforce is the fact that in today s job market, there are not many high paying jobs that do not require a degree. However, the benefit of going to college is that careers that require a college degree are often high paying and come with worker s benefits. College affords the student to develop and master academic and social skills. Companies and employers are not willing to invest time and money into prospects without those skills or a formal education. The disadvantage to going to college is brought upon because college tuition has doubled in the past ten years, which makes college unaffordable without being overwhelmed by student loans for the rest of one s life (Graff 179). The differences between these two paths make the decision to go to college one of the most influential decisions of an individual s entire life. Each of these paths have their advantages and disadvantages, but in the long run, going to college is more beneficial than going straight into the workforce. Even if one ... Mellor points to the Creature s Mongolian race by noting that at the beginning of the novel, Walton and his men have set off on their voyage to China by way of the North Pole. Mary Shelley describes this newborn giant as having yellow skin, black and flowing hair, the dun white or light grey brown of both irises of his eyes and sockets. The Creature is definitely not Caucasian, nor is he the same race as his maker. Even the character known as Walton notices the difference in appearance between Victor and the traveller preceding him, as he notes Victor was not as the other traveller seemed to be, a savage inhabitant of some undisclosed island, but an European. • 23. The Controversial Issues Of Abortion One of the most highly controversial issues plaguing our country today is that of abortion. This debate arose in the mid to late 1800 s when states began passing laws to make abortion illegal ( History of Abortion ). Although each law varied from state to state, the reason for making it illegal seemed to be similar: All surgical procedures, including abortion, were risky and hospitals and well practiced doctors were not common in most areas. Back alley abortions (illegal abortions) were very common during this time. Even when the scientific methods and technology became more advanced, women were still getting unsafe abortions. It wasn t until the Roe v. Wade debate in 1973 that women were able to get a safe, legal abortion from a well trained medical professional. It also ruled that women had their right to privacy, and it was the women s right to decide whether or not she would have children. There have been many restrictions and guidelines put on abortion such as parental involvement, mandatory waiting periods, and biased counseling. As of right now, abortion is legal. Abortion should remain legal because of the following issues child bearing women can potentially face: medical issues, safety concerns, and rape/incest situations. Women considering abortion may be undergoing this procedure due to very serious medical issues, either with the child or themselves. Implementation Of A New Operating System Ava s software company has received a contract to design an operating system which runs and operates a computer system used to handle stock buying and selling process. Which scheduling strategy would you recommend for this new operating system? Please support your answer and provide reasons for it. (10 points) Ans) In the computer world, multitasking is a method where multiple tasks or processes are performed during the same period of time that is they are executed concurrently. Multitasking doesn t necessarily means that multiple tasks are executing at exactly the same instant. As such, more than one undertaking can be part path through execution in the meantime, and that more than one errand is propelling more than a time of time is called multitasking, not at all like parallel execution. Operating system might adopt one of many scheduling strategies, which normally fall into the following categories: 1) Multiprogramming: In these systems, the running task keeps running until it performs an operation that requires waiting for an external event or until the running task is forcibly swapped out of the CPU by the computer s scheduler. These systems are designed to maximize the processor usage. The above figures show that memory can expand to hold three, four or more programs and switch among all of them. 2) Time Sharing: In these systems, the running task is required to abandon the processor, either willingly or by an outside event such as hardware interrupt. The Importance Of Colors In Gilead Imagery, particularly when describing beautiful colors before Gilead and contrasting them with the dull colors described in Gilead reveal how drastically life has changed. Offred mentions that in the past when she took her daughter to get ice cream, everything was colored so delicately, pale orange, pale green, pale pink and that her daughter, dressed in similar ice cream pastels would choose her treat by the color (Atwood 165). In life before Gilead, colors were vivid and cheerful, something to make objects more enjoyable to look at. People could wear whatever color they please, and colors had no additional meaning to them other than to show people had freedom to make their own decisions. However, in Gilead, color imagery shows the lack of decision and the rigid societal structure the government imposes. Each group has their own colors even in minor aspects of life, such as with umbrellas categorized as black, for the Commander, blue, for the Commander s Wife, and the one assigned to [Offred], which is red (Atwood 9). Each color labels members of the society as part of a certain category and defines their roles without further consideration. Here, colors serve as a way to restrict peoples freedoms unlike when colors previously served as way to enhance freedom of choice and expression. He wrote on a vast amount of subjects during his lifetime, such as biology, chemistry, physics, ethics and logic. Aristotle wrote a book called, Nicomachean Ethics. This book describes the view of friendship. He also describes three different type of friendship, which in reality is exactly how friendship is in today society. The question while reading this information is what is friendship in Aristotle point of view? Aristotle believes that there are three different kinds of friendship; that of utility, friendship of pleasure, and virtuous friendship. In his book he describe exactly what each type of friendship really is. Friendship that is of utility is where both people derive some benefit from each other. Is like saying that these people are friends from each other by gaining something else from the other. They are not friends for the good of it; they are friends because there are benefits coming from them. Aristotle describes a friendship of utility as narrow, easily dissolved or for the old. He views them as such because this type of friendship is easily broken and based on something that is brought to the relationship by the other person. It is misleading to call the British constitution unwritten; a more precise form of classification would be un codified. An example of this is the in corporation of E.U laws into UK laws. Since parliament passed the European communities Act in 1972 Britain has accepted the superiority of European law. The House of Lords has judged certain English laws to be unlawful in light of EU legislation. Another advantage of an unwritten or un codified constitution is that it is evolutionary because it develops with historical changes. An example of this is when parliament in the UK took total sovereignty away from the monarchy in 1867. Changes to the British constitution reflect a changing balance of power. The constitution is important even though it is not written form because it formed the basis of the separation of power that we now have, for example between the Lords and the Commons. This also shows the flexibility of the constitution. An advantage of the UK constitution is that it takes into account of changing views. For example, in 1997 the changing of the hereditary peer system and also further reforms to change the structure of parliament. It is good that the British constitution will always takes into account these changes. However, there are disadvantages to an un written constitution. Although things are not perfect in America today, the Civil War effected society in a big way and changed many people over a period of time. Thus, America was made a better place as a whole and improved drastically. The war started in 1861 and ended in 1865. The Civil war was fought for many reasons and numerous factors caused the war. This included the power of the national government to prohibit slavery in the territories that had not yet become states 2 When Abraham Lincoln became President in 1860 he pledged to the people that he would keep slavery out of the territories. In turn, seven slave states that were in the deep South seceded, or separated from, the nation and made a new nation widely known as the Confederate States of America. Many Northerners chose not to take the secession seriously and failed to recognize that the Southern states were authentic about what they were doing.
