My Senior Year Research Paper
One of my most meaningful achievements I have worked for has to be my academic awards. In my
senior year of high school I earned a silver and gold medal for having good grades. I got a gold medal
because I had A s or B s in most of my classes (except maybe one or two), and a silver for having
mostly B s and I think a couple C s. I earned these after each semester of my senior year. I know this
will help to keep me motivated throughout the school year at The Art Institute of Phoenix because I m
a hard worker. I don t like the feeling of failing or having the possibility to fail. I take my work very
seriously and I like to test myself with new things. I can see myself very comfortable in being a game
programmer because it s all a challenge, learning

Spiritual Departure
On a late Friday evening kids are arriving at a building that nobody feels comfortable about entering.
Many are thinking that we came to SEARCH our spiritual retreat, why are we not in a church and the
church is across the street. As Elaiza was entering the building through the doors that were covered in
newspaper she was creeped out and did not want to stay here. When she got inside it looked like an
old basketball court and it was full of religious statues. She was looking around and something
touched her deep down inside, it felt like all of her problems were gone and open to try new things .
The two females that were checking her in were so nice and made her feel welcomed, they asked for
her phone and told her where she would be sleeping ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She knew that she was finally going to see her family and that made her happy, but she loved
everything at SEARCH. The helpers made them breakfast and gave each and everyone one of the
participants a gift they made for them. After this the participants and the helpers went to the room that
has couches and everyone had to go to the front of the room and they would get a new nickname.
Elaiza got the nickname Amor Incondicional because of how kind her heart is and how much love she
seems to show for others. They joined into one last group prayer and headed off to the church that was
across the parking lot. Elaiza saw her family and she was happy to see them because it seemed like
forever and she didn t have her phone to talk them. They were happy to see and she was happy to, but
she just wanted to tell them about her experience right away. They went to church sang Our God is an
awesome God we praise. From heavens above with wisdom, power, and love our God is an awesome
God. for their parents and went up to the front of the church and said who they are and where they
were fun. When mass was over they went back to the building to collect their items to go home. Elaiza
didn t want to say goodbye because she knew that she would cry. She added everyone on
Snapchat,Facebook, and gave everyone hugs and thanked them for the best experience ever. Elaiza left

How Do Recreational Drugs Affect People
Psychology Drugs Project 2017 Script
Today I am going to present a poster that I made on recreational drugs which includes examples of
drugs and their physiological and psychological effect on people. Firstly, I want to define the term
recreational drugs .
Recreational drugs refer to chemical substances that can cause changes to your mind. This is a
psychoactive drug that affect people psychologically by changing their sensory perception, moods,
thinking and behaviour. Recreational drugs can cause changes in mind because they are literally
impacting the functions of neurotransmitters. These chemical substances are not used for medical
reasons, instead they are used for leisurely purposes. Recreational drugs are divided into three groups
which are stimulants, depressants, and hallucinogens.
Firstly, stimulants are also known as the uppers , this drug temporally increase the alertness and
energy of the body so it can work faster. The second type of the recreational drug is depressants.
Depressants are also known as the downers . This calms the activity of the nervous system and slow

Caffeine is found in tea and coffee. The physiological effect of caffeine increased heart rate. Caffeine
excites the receptors within your heart to work faster by blocking the enzyme phosphodiesterace.
Heart rate is kept normal by these phosphodiesterace. Once phosphodiesterace is blocked, there is no
longer effective and your heart rate increases. The psychological effect of caffeine is increased
alertness. It helps you to feel more awake and less tired, so it is used for medication to treat
drowsiness. Caffeine s psychological effect is that caffeine mimics the neurochemical called
adenosine. Caffeine mimics the shape, size of the adenosine and enters the receptor without
stimulating them. Then caffeine blocks the receptors and allows the other stimulants such as dopamine
and glutamate to work freely while the caffeine holds the

An analog input module has a number of interfaces. Typical analog input modules have 8, 16, or 32
inputs. Analog output modules take digital values from the CPU and convert them to analog
representations, which are then sent to the actuators. An output module usually has 8, 16 or 32 outputs,
and typically offers 8 or 12 bits of resolution. 4.2.3 Digital Input and Output Modules Digital input
modules typically are used to indicate status and alarm signals. A specialized digital input module is
used for counting pulses of voltage or current, rather than for strictly indicating open or closed. This
functionality, however, can also be implemented using standard input modules and functions found in
the ladder logic programming language of the PLC.

Domino Theory
Following World War Two neither the United States or the Soviet Union wanted to engage in another
large scale conflict, yet neither nation was willing to allow the other to expand its ideals freely upon
the world. This sustained period of tension referred to as the Cold War was driven by fear. The Soviet
Union feared yet another invasion of their homeland at the hands of the Germans following the first
two world wars, they wished to develop a buffer zone and keep the Germans weak to ensure their
safety. The United States Feared they would not be able to maintain the economic growth that they
sustained because of WWII, they were also worried that if European economies were not able to
recover quick enough that it could spur further conflicts. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This event occurred following the botched covert operation of the United States, titled the Bay of Pigs
in 1961, and the United States placement of nuclear missiles in countries of close proximity to the
Soviet Union. The Bay of Pigs operation, which was a covert attempt to invade Cuba authorized by
President John F. Kennedy, came as a result of growing U.S. anxiety over Cuban Dictator Fidel Castro
and the unpredictable communist revolutionary government he had installed in Cuba . Following the
failure of the Bay of Pigs operation tensions between the U.S. and the Soviet Union continued to
mount, and after a multitude of events, Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev, felt it was time to convince
the United States that they were vulnerable to attack. In the summer of 1962 the Soviets began to send
arms into Cuba. It was not until October of 1962 that the U.S. detected the presence of missiles on
Cuba. Having a nuclear threat in a peripheral region so close to their homeland raised anxiety among
U.S. policy makers, and they felt they had to send the strongest message without escalating the
conflict into a nuclear war. On October 22, 1962, President John F. Kennedy, issued a statement to the
American people, in the address Kennedy laid out the U.S. s plan of action assuring that America

Part I: Unlike many of our authors in this class, video footage of Truman Capote abounds. Find a
video of him. Post the link in the forum, and tell us a little about your perception of him. How might
he have fit in 1960s Kansas, and how might the cultural differences, for better or worse, affected his
ability to get the story ? Capote spent the better part of his childhood in a rural setting. In his adult life,
he was exposed to cosmopolitan social settings. These two factors complemented each other as
qualities of a writer of a non fiction novel that was majorly based in a rural town of Holcomb in the
wheat plains of Western Kansas. The two aspects helped Capote fit in a 1960 s setting of Kansas.

The Portrait Of Madame De Pompadour
I remember the precise moment when I first laid eyes on the Portrait of Madame de Pompadour. At
about ten years of age, my parents bought a book titled: Women who read are dangerous. This book
depicted several paintings, sculptures and photographs of women reading; among which was the
Portrait of Madame de Pompadour. The second I witnessed the detail and extravagance of the
painting, I fell in love with it. Luckily at the time I was living in Bavaria, coincidentally also the
current home of said painting. When I went to see it, it was much larger in person than I could have
ever envisioned and much more vibrant in color and detail than I could have ever imagined. Over the
years I have seen many more paintings, I have to yet be overwhelmed the way I was when I first saw
the Portrait of Madame de Pompadour. French artist François Boucher painted the legendary Portrait
of Madame de Pompadour in 1756. He utilized oil on canvas to paint the 201 × 157 cm (79.1 × 61.8
in) portrait of the chief mistress to Louis XV, Jeanne Antoinette Poisson aka. The Marquise de
Pompadour (also referred to as Madame de Pompadour). Boucher, who lived from 1703 70, was the
archetypal painter of the French rococo, a style that subordinated subject matter to a lacy, frothy
sensuality in which bodies, clothes, clouds, waves and forests become not themselves but images of
desire, metaphors for titillation. Among the most prolific of his generation, he worked in virtually
every medium and every

Blue mountain resorts case study Essay
Blue Mountain resorts (Data collection)
1. Problem definition
Blue Mountain Resorts were first built in 1941, and it is the largest family operated ski resort in
Canada. The major problem in this case is that the CEO of the Blue Mountain Resorts has to decide
whether to install facilitates or not for the night skiing in 1979 1980 winter skiing season. Maintaining
comfortable capacity at ski resort is very important in this field of market. The capacity depends on
the hill size, hill development, and lift facilities. Therefore, to provide the night skiing service,
investing in hills and lifts are important factors. So, if the CEO decides to install the night skiing
facilities, he needs to decide the price of the single night lift ticket ... Show more content on

Among 2 intermediate levels, one advanced, and one beginner and intermediate level, one should be
chosen. I suggest the intermediate level to be opened since the night ski uses would mostly
intermediate high level users rather than beginners, and advanced level at night would be somehow
dangerous. The operating cost would be $1000 per night, adding seasonal allocation of $20,000 fixed
cost, $7.75 liability insurance per 1000 skiers, and $5000 for promotional cost. Therefore, the cost of
operating night skiing is, $1000*120days+$20,000+$5000+$7.75*30= $145,232.50 per year.
$135,000+$145,232.50=$280,232.50. The frequency of night skiing in cross tabulation of pass holder
status was mostly 1 10 times per year. They will come for two or more days. The profit calculation
will be approximately 2days* 5 times* $5.50=$55.0 per people for a year. 30,000 people*30%*$55=
$495,000 per year. This profit exceeds the cost, so the company should invest in facilitating the night
skiing.
The next step is to decide the type of the season pass and the ticket price. It could offer the special
night skiing season pass or combine it with the original day time season pass. For example, three types
of the passes which are; day pass, night pass, or combined pass. On the night skiing survey, fair price
showed to be $5 for midweek nights and $6 for weekend nights. Most people anticipated their skiing
days a year to 1 5 or more than 20. Also, the

Arranged Marriages
Arranged Marriages Within Modern Society
Often times, the words arranged marriage evokes fear or even anger in one s heart. For many people,
especially those with a western mindset, the liberty to choose one s own spouse remains utterly
important and even a human right in our society today. While I strongly believe that every human
owns the freedom to choose whether or not they want to marry someone, I also believe
misconceptions form in some mind s and in certain situations when the words, arranged marriages are
spoken. While in no way are all arranged marriages just and fair throughout the world today,
marriages that are put together by parents where children choose if they believe the match might work
or not. Although bad arranged ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Having the same values throughout marriage remains crucial and arranged marriages often draws two
people with shared values together. When others besides the couple themselves search for potentially
good matches, shared values often proves itself important. Often, parents search for spouses for their
children with good values and morals. For example, while the child might not always put strong
values firstly in finding a spouse, Christian parents would always search within a community of
believers with the same values to look for a potential spouse for their child. When values and morals
become an important deciphering point in marriage through arrangements by wise elders, the marriage
often holds potential to last much longer than a marriage without shared values. Young couples
without wiser counsel might end up head over heels in love yet not always discuss issues such as
values which end up crucial to lasting marriages. While arranged marriages never reach perfection like
any normal matrimony, the sharing of values holds great likelihood when orchestrated and guided by
wise seniors.
Arranged marriages often start off with solid foundations especially within career and professional
potentials. When searching for a good mate for their child, parents typically also list one s ability to
provide for others as a top characteristic in a person. Parents would typically look for someone

Wireless Payment Wallet Share
December 1, 2014
Mobile payments are becoming an upcoming new trend when it comes to technology. Mobile
payments allow its users to pay for their daily needs with their phone without having to carry cash, let
alone, their wallets around. However, the United States has been delaying the adaptation of mobile
payments due to the fact that many different retailers have developed their own form of mobile
payments as opposed to a universal approach. While many countries in Europe and Asia have
successfully adopted mobile payments, United States still are behind in the trend.
Introduction:
As technology grows, so do the consumers. Consumers rely so much on easy shopping and simplified
checking out possibilities that application developers have started to develop more mobile payment
applications. These mobile payments are the technology of the future and yet the United States is still
lagging behind in the rush to simplify shopping from a plastic card to a mobile app. However, with
such developers from Apple and Google, there are applications where the mobile phone can stand as a
wallet, but retailors do not necessarily choose a universal application to use. With Apple Pay and
Google Wallet actively used, many retailors have opted to convert their merchandise to be payable
with such applications .

Signal Soldiers Must Be Adept At Operating Complex Signal...
Introduction
Signal Soldiers must be adept at operating complex signal systems and integrating progressive
technologies into the U. S. Army network. They must support multiple combat platforms from the
Infantry to Field Artillery and everything in between.
The rapid advancement of information technologies and a network centric force have transformed the
Army s warfighting capabilities. They have also impacted the Signal Corps ability to create Soldiers
who are capable of keeping pace. It must now rethink the process of how it is accesses, trains, and
sustains the Signal Soldier of the future. Since the war on terror, technological developments in the
signal realm have been numerous and far reaching. The Army network and supported information
technology (both hardware and software) provided by the Corps are an integral part of warfighting
capabilities and combat multipliers. Commanders and warfighters rely on the knowledge and skills of
the signal Soldiers to provide and implement these technologies to meet their operational needs.
They expect the signal Soldier to be capable of establishing and maintaining communications in any
environment, to support any mission, independently or as a member of a team. They must be the
subject matter expert in their chosen profession. It is imperative that today s Soldier seamlessly
integrate automation, voice, data communications, and information applications into the network.

Crazy Rich Asian Rich In The Great Gatsby
Abstract
Research Question: A comparative study of how wealth is perceived and interpreted in The Great
Gatsby and Crazy Rich Asians
Crazy, Rich, Asians by Kevin Kwan and The Great Gatsby by F. Scott FitzGerald are two amazing
books which play on stereotypes of every fashion and kind. Through the stereotypes however, it can
be agreed that there is much truth as with most stereotypes. A huge difference between Crazy, Rich,
Asians and The Great Gatsby, however, is that both books offer completely different sides to a very
similar story with vastly differing outcomes. The story which the two books so well portray is one of

the fact that the main character (Gatsby) does not have known family or a well documented history.
Such a context serves as a perfect foil to the book Crazy, Rich Asians which emphasises the
importance of family roots.
So, what sets the media averse Asians, the vulgar Asians, and the Western wealthy apart? Is it their
varying degrees of expenditure or the number of cars they own? I would say no, what sets them apart
is the perception and interpretation of their wealth by the society which they are in. Perception and the
role of society has always been to be a community, and what a community does is set certain moral
and material standards to which one would aspire to fit perfectly. Society is what defines people s
behaviours and ultimately the culture of a certain part of the world, be it Western or

China Social Inequality
The complexity of China s overall marital and family status, gender equality and standard living
shows that there is visible inequality that exists between China s Rural and Urban areas. In 1966 and
1967, Chairman of the Communist Party of China, Mao Tse Tung, had characterized a social
movement known as the Red Guards. The Red Guards were China s future as a minority organization
during the Cultural Revolution. This Revolution reestablished Mao s campaign from the Great Leap
Forward in 1958 1961. The Great Leap Forward was Mao s way of restoring a Democratic society
into a Communist society which was to abolish the Capitalist and traditional principles of Marxism in
China. Waiting, by Ha Jin, contrasts between inequality of traditional rural ... Show more content on

During the Cultural Revolution, extramarital affairs were condemned labeled as Male Female
Relationship Lifestyle. Infidelity is rife in China, due to a male dominated culture that has traditionally
(albeit quietly) tolerated concubines and prostitution. Pressure to marry young leads to fast
arrangements (Hayes). In China, Men and Women possess different capacities and functions towards
behavior expectations, position within the family, legal rights, public status, education, and types of
work. By the late nineteenth, early twentieth centuries, serious challenges about the gender
inequalities that were in both Japan and China were to be accepted. Can t a girl serve equally well as a
reminder of her parents? What a crazy, stupid custom, which demands that every couple have a baby
boy to carry on the family line (Jin). During the Cultural Revolution, female specific concerns
continued when the class war took place and equality was assumed to be ignored. To portray the
societal changes that China was traversing. In communist China, there were many rules, which reflects
upon the attitudes made towards the women in the Novel for example, how the nurses had to be
virgins to enter the hospital workforce or how men and women weren t allowed to walk together
outside the hospital grounds. Jin, vividly conjures the texture of daily life in a place where the
demands of human longing must contend with the weight of centuries of custom. Waiting charms and

Essay James Joyce s Araby and Eveline
James Joyce s Araby and Eveline
In Araby and Eveline Joyce uses religious symbols to show the importance of the Catholic religion in
both of the main characters lives. Both of these stories take place in Dublin, Ireland, a place that is
very strong in its belief in the Catholic religion. In Araby, the imagery of the infamous Fall is
presented to the reader within the second paragraph to indicate its importance. The themes of religious
masses can be found in Eveline. The concept of the Catholic Ash Wednesday is presented throughout
both Araby and Eveline.
The second paragraph of ?Araby? presents the idea of the Adam and Eve story known as ?The Fall.? ?

In ?Eveline? images of religious masses come up in the story. ?Through the wide doors of the sheds
she caught a glimpse of the black mass of the boat lying in beside the quay wall, with illumined
portholes.? (32/45 47). The theme of religious masses is written into a very important time of the main
character?s life. Eveline is faced with the decision whether or not to go with Frank to Buenos Aires. If
she went, she would flee the responsibilities of her family and be able to finally live in a land where
she could be carefree. Black mass is the traditional ceremony that witches will perform to invoke evil
spirits and mock the mass of the Catholic Church. Since the theme of the black mass is used, it hints to
the reader that maybe Eveline does not want to be held down by her religion. By using the words ?
black? and ?mass? together, Joyce not only indicates the importance of Catholicism, but it shows the
idea that Eveline is trying to break free from the constrictive power of the church and religion.
Finally, the topic of Ash Wednesday is brought up in ?Araby? and ?Eveline.? Ash Wednesday is one of
the most important days in the Catholic religion. It is the day of repentance in the Catholic Church, as
well as the first day of lent. Lent is a time where a Catholic follower is deprived from one of the most
important things in jhor life. Dust is always used to

The River Bank At My Uncle s Camp
When I was young, I used to refrain from going down to the river bank at my uncle s camp. I hated it
because I was always afraid that I would fall. It was steep and so much higher than the river it
surrounded. As a child, I never stopped to wonder why the land was so much higher than the water.
Looking back now, it seems very simple. The water shaped the land. Although I experienced this on a
very small level, we see it on an enormous scale every day. Throughout Michigan and even throughout
the entire world, water has created the land shapes that we are used to. Without water, we would not
have the unique land structures that exist today. I was born and raised right here in the beautiful state
of Michigan. Michigan is a unique place because it is two separate peninsulas connected by a bridge
and separated by the Mackinac Straits. In short, us Michigan natives have grown up surrounded by
water. Michigan has about 58,000 sq. miles of land and 38,000 miles of water. The majority of the
water that makes up Michigan is formed from the Great Lakes: No point in Michigan is more than 6
miles away from one of the Great Lakes. It is clear that water is a big part of the composition of this
state. Since water is such a big part of Michigan, I find myself very curious about what it is and what
it does. The first thing you need to know when you are researching water history is the water cycle.
The water cycle is an infinite circle in which water evaporates, is carried

Different Types of Tears During Shoulder Dislocation Essay
With all of the tears, the first type of tear is one where the labrum is torn all of the way off of the bone.
This type of tear usually correlates with an injury to the shoulder where the shoulder has subluxated or
dislocated. Sometimes, this tear occurs and the individual does not realize that the shoulder has slid
out of the socket. This can make it much worse and cause other types of injuries to the ligaments
around the shoulder.
The second type of labrum tear is tearing within the actual labrum. The sides of the labrum after a
while may get frayed, meaning a slight tear where the labrum slowly starts to unravel like yarn, so that
the edge is no longer even and smooth. This type of tearing is proven to be pretty common and rarely

All of the different tears have the same symptoms for the most part, as I explained before. There are
many different sports that one can find this injury in, especially when it is located in the shoulder.
Sports such as baseball, softball, tennis, football, frisbee, basketball and even hockey are just some of
the many sports that doctors have found this injury to be common in. This past year, a boy on my
brothers hockey team tore his shoulder labrum at the beginning of the hockey season. He was not able
to practice, nor play in games during this time. Surgery for his injury was performed in November,
just as the hockey season was kicking off. His recovery is expected to take about 6 months because of
the severity of the injury. He was originally in a sling for the first month. Doctors protocol had him
icing everyday for at least two hours for the first month after surgery as well. Once swelling began to
go down, he began physical therapy. Currently, he s not allowed to lift more than 20 pounds. Physical
therapy is going really well and he is already supposed to shorten his expected recovery time. He
should be back in for this upcoming season.
There are a very small amount of easy treatments possible for this injury. Depending on the type of
labral tear and intensity of symptoms, one may need surgery. Most tears, both shoulder and hip, do not
depend upon surgery, but patients that obtain

Abstract
In a story, the particular way a character uses language sheds light on her understanding of herself and
the world around her because language is the vessel for meaning making and the construction of
reality. In literature, stylistics (Simpson 2004, Jeffries 2010) provides the tools for an analysis of
language by investigating where the literary effects stem from. One of the tools is transitivity
(Halliday 1985, 2004) which studies the choice of verbs. Since transitivity has ... Show more content

From the beginning of the story the reader comes to know Esther as a perceptive woman who is

particularly when she compares herself with the those around her. This quality is reflected in her

Scrying Research Paper
There is a huge amount of tools out there that can be used by fortune tellers, magic practitioners, and
psychics for forecasting the future. The crystal ball is an instrument that almost everyone has heard of
or seen on tv s and movies, but not many people really know the theory behind using the ball for
gazing/ fortune telling. The tradition of using a reflective surface to get psychic pictures is an ancient
one. A wide range of reflective surfaces are used for scrying such as crystals, mirrors, crystal balls,
and even still bowls or pools of water. When divining the future, Nostradamus is thought to have used
a bowl. Scrying mirrors are pieces glass which are painted black on both sides, therefore, the surface

the tools needed are usually cheap. One of the most important things to remember is to practice
meditation on a regular basis as it is the most useful way to find and maintain the appropriate level of
consciousness that s needed for successful scrying. To do this first you need to have a quiet space

Skepticism About a Refutation of Skepticism Essay
Skepticism about a Refutation of Skepticism
In The Refutation of Skepticism , Jonathan Vogel establishes an Inference to the Best Explanation
(hereafter, IBE ) as a means to refute skepticism about the external world. In this refutation, Vogel
acknowledges that skepticism about IBE still remains a possibility, but that this kind of skepticism
would be rather outlandish in character and thus could be ignored. This paper shall both establish and
evaluate Vogel s reasoning as to why he confidently dismisses any skepticism pertaining to his IBE,
and furthermore will illuminate some points as to why Vogel may have mischaracterized potential
threats to his method, leaving his refutation of skepticism vulnerable to doubt that is not as ... Show

So how is this supposed to serve as a successful refutation of skepticism? To make sense of this, it
should first be understood exactly how IBE qualifies its requirement for simplicity, and also what
Vogel understands both mundane propositions and skeptical arguments to be comprised of. The
assumption that the world works in ways that are simple, implied from the principle of induction, is
construed by Vogel to mean that the better explanation would be the belief involving the fewest
complexities and least number of parts to argue. Vogel is under the impression that skeptical
arguments involve much more complexity in order to make them parallel the ordinary beliefs they aim
to compete with, and cites the example that for ordinary properties such as shape and location that
could be involved in a mundane proposition, the skeptic would have to invoke a much more elaborate
explanation for why we are experiencing pseudo shapes and pseudo locations. This leaves the
skeptical argument at a major disadvantage when assessed by IBE s requirement for simplicity,
allowing for the mundane proposition to be deemed the better explanation because of its capability to
explain things as they are instead of why they appear to be as they are but really are

Deviance From Sociological Perspective
Deviance according to sociologist is the behavior the one part takes in the that is not the norm, and can
generate a negative reaction from certain groups. From a sociological perspective deviance is
important because it reveals about the society we live in. Deviance requires us to examine and analyze
why certain people and even certain groups chose to partake in a certain manor. By examining
deviancent behavior we also recognize what the norm is. Labeling theory through a deviant approach
states that deviance is caused by others people s judgment of them, meaning that when a label is put
on us more than often we tend conform to label. For example if people begin to label someone as an

cheating would still be classified as deviant. It would be classified as deviant in the sense that cheating
is wrong and one should not partake in it. But it can also be classified as non deviant because so many
people have cheated that it became the norm, and deviance is only behavior that is not the norm. In
that sense it wouldn t be deviane. Personally I believe that even more than half of the students have
confessed to cheating we should still deem it as deviant behavior because if we don t then more people

The Metropolitan Museum of Art has always had one of the most renowned and respected Islamic art

marble capital from the Spanish Umayyad period, several pieces of pottery from the Mongol empire,
and even includes a 4 foot tall, teak kursi made by Hasan [ibn] Sulaiman al Isfahani in Iran in 1360.

This Madrasa is especially significant, because it is one of the earliest pieces of Islamic architecture to
still be standing today. It was also one of the first Islamic architectural buildings to employ to use of
decorated floral mosaic tiles which was uncommon during the Ilkhanid period but later mastered by
the Timurids. Earlier mosaic designs were strictly geometric, but this new floral pattern gained
popularity as time passed. While walking through the museum I was fascinated by several secular and
religious pieces of art from the Islamic region. The reason that I chose to analyze this piece over the
other exhibits was a result of my interest in mosque architecture, and because this was as close as I
was able to get to an ancient piece of Islamic architecture. I have seen many qibla walls, many qurans,
and many mihrabs, but this specific one was unlike the modern prayer niches in the mosques that I

architectural exhibit in the western world. It s impossible to ignore the important role that the east
Asian ideas of the Mongol empire played in the religious architecture of the Ilkhanid period, and had
the Ilkhanids not been so heavily influenced by Mongol traditions their architecture would have had a
completely different look and feel. My first impression of the Madrasa Imami mihrab was the colors.

Essay on Benito Cereno by Herman Melville
Benito Cereno by Herman Melville
In many stories, the main characters carry the plot of a story throughout the book. The author often
expresses the message that he desires the reader to receive through their thoughts and actions. Yet, the
minor characters often have a large affect on the outcome of the book, although it is not quite as
obvious to the reader. By altering the thoughts or actions of the main characters, a seemingly minor
player in a novel may actually, at closer examination, be an important player in the plot. In the short
story Benito Cereno, by Herman Melville, the minor character, Atufal, largely influenced Captain
Delano, who is a main character. Delano s assessments and opinions aboard the Spanish ship were ...

Cereno as to why he was treating the slave with such cruelty. Atufal s performance caused Delano to
believe that Cereno was in control of the happenings on the boat, and that his prior concerns about the
role of the Negroes on the San Dominick should be put to rest.
Delano did not do much more than shortly entertain the idea that the blacks were, in fact, in control of
the Spanish vessel because of what he witnessed in the situation of Atufal. Atufal affected the plot
because he caused Delano to doubt his suspicions, which therefore played a major role in the actions
of this main character. The observations of Atufal by Delano greatly helped to form his attitude
towards the Negroes upon the ship. The supposed cruelty of Don Cereno towards the slave Atufal
created an image of obedience by the blacks in Delano s mind. Delano thought, But [the Negroes]
were too stupid (177). Perhaps if Atufal had not implanted images of white supremacy aboard the
ship, Captain Delano might have acted sooner in helping to return the ship to Benito Cereno. In the
classic story Benito Cereno, by Herman Melville, the minor character Atufal greatly affected the
opinions of the main character, Captain Delano, which therefore plays a major part in the plot. Many
times attention is not paid to the minor characters of a novel; however, they are essential to the

Aviophobia And Phobia
Introduction
Air travel is an incredibly useful mode of transportation that enables practically anyone in the world to
go practically anywhere they want to. Unfortunately, for some people, it is not as simple and as
wonderful as it sounds. Although it is now counted amongst one of the safest ways to travel, many
individuals have what is called aviophobia: The fear of flying in an airplane (Faraci, Triscari,
Catalisano, D Angelo Urso, 2015). Indeed, phobia of flying is a specific phobia that affects around
25% of the population in varying degrees (Hirsch, 2012). While most people don t catch flights every
day, this phobia can still have countless negative effects on affected individuals daily lives. Centered
on the main common fears of plane crash and turbulence, symptoms can range from severe
anxiousness to full blown panic attacks (Hirsch, 2012) which explain why individuals will go to great
lengths if it will allow them to avoid having to endure such distress. When it seems as though catching
a flight will be inevitable, individuals with aviophobia might resort to self medication with alcohol or
mild sedatives (Hirsch, 2012). The following design assignment will describe a procedure that hopes
to make the lives of those with aviophobia easier and allow them to utilize air travel while avoiding
distress.
Treatment Options
In the past, treatment for phobias such as aviophobia were centered around various forms of
systematic desensitization primarily practiced with

  • 2. My Senior Year Research Paper One of my most meaningful achievements I have worked for has to be my academic awards. In my senior year of high school I earned a silver and gold medal for having good grades. I got a gold medal because I had A s or B s in most of my classes (except maybe one or two), and a silver for having mostly B s and I think a couple C s. I earned these after each semester of my senior year. I know this will help to keep me motivated throughout the school year at The Art Institute of Phoenix because I m a hard worker. I don t like the feeling of failing or having the possibility to fail. I take my work very seriously and I like to test myself with new things. I can see myself very comfortable in being a game programmer because it s all a challenge, learning ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many are thinking that we came to SEARCH our spiritual retreat, why are we not in a church and the church is across the street. As Elaiza was entering the building through the doors that were covered in newspaper she was creeped out and did not want to stay here. When she got inside it looked like an old basketball court and it was full of religious statues. She was looking around and something touched her deep down inside, it felt like all of her problems were gone and open to try new things . They joined into one last group prayer and headed off to the church that was across the parking lot. Elaiza saw her family and she was happy to see them because it seemed like forever and she didn t have her phone to talk them. They were happy to see and she was happy to, but she just wanted to tell them about her experience right away. They went to church sang Our God is an awesome God we praise. From heavens above with wisdom, power, and love our God is an awesome God. for their parents and went up to the front of the church and said who they are and where they were fun. When mass was over they went back to the building to collect their items to go home. Elaiza didn t want to say goodbye because she knew that she would cry. Firstly, I want to define the term recreational drugs . Recreational drugs refer to chemical substances that can cause changes to your mind. This is a psychoactive drug that affect people psychologically by changing their sensory perception, moods, thinking and behaviour. Recreational drugs can cause changes in mind because they are literally impacting the functions of neurotransmitters. • 12. The Portrait Of Madame De Pompadour I remember the precise moment when I first laid eyes on the Portrait of Madame de Pompadour. At about ten years of age, my parents bought a book titled: Women who read are dangerous. This book depicted several paintings, sculptures and photographs of women reading; among which was the Portrait of Madame de Pompadour. The second I witnessed the detail and extravagance of the painting, I fell in love with it. Luckily at the time I was living in Bavaria, coincidentally also the current home of said painting. When I went to see it, it was much larger in person than I could have ever envisioned and much more vibrant in color and detail than I could have ever imagined. Over the years I have seen many more paintings, I have to yet be overwhelmed the way I was when I first saw the Portrait of Madame de Pompadour. French artist François Boucher painted the legendary Portrait of Madame de Pompadour in 1756. He utilized oil on canvas to paint the 201 × 157 cm (79.1 × 61.8 in) portrait of the chief mistress to Louis XV, Jeanne Antoinette Poisson aka. The Marquise de Pompadour (also referred to as Madame de Pompadour). Boucher, who lived from 1703 70, was the archetypal painter of the French rococo, a style that subordinated subject matter to a lacy, frothy sensuality in which bodies, clothes, clouds, waves and forests become not themselves but images of desire, metaphors for titillation. Among the most prolific of his generation, he worked in virtually every medium and every ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mobile payments allow its users to pay for their daily needs with their phone without having to carry cash, let alone, their wallets around. However, the United States has been delaying the adaptation of mobile payments due to the fact that many different retailers have developed their own form of mobile payments as opposed to a universal approach. While many countries in Europe and Asia have successfully adopted mobile payments, United States still are behind in the trend. Introduction: As technology grows, so do the consumers. Consumers rely so much on easy shopping and simplified checking out possibilities that application developers have started to develop more mobile payment applications. These mobile payments are the technology of the future and yet the United States is still lagging behind in the rush to simplify shopping from a plastic card to a mobile app. However, with such developers from Apple and Google, there are applications where the mobile phone can stand as a wallet, but retailors do not necessarily choose a universal application to use. To make sense of this, it should first be understood exactly how IBE qualifies its requirement for simplicity, and also what Vogel understands both mundane propositions and skeptical arguments to be comprised of. The assumption that the world works in ways that are simple, implied from the principle of induction, is construed by Vogel to mean that the better explanation would be the belief involving the fewest complexities and least number of parts to argue. Vogel is under the impression that skeptical arguments involve much more complexity in order to make them parallel the ordinary beliefs they aim to compete with, and cites the example that for ordinary properties such as shape and location that could be involved in a mundane proposition, the skeptic would have to invoke a much more elaborate explanation for why we are experiencing pseudo shapes and pseudo locations. This leaves the skeptical argument at a major disadvantage when assessed by IBE s requirement for simplicity, allowing for the mundane proposition to be deemed the better explanation because of its capability to explain things as they are instead of why they appear to be as they are but really are ... I knew that people copied each other s test answers was quite a common thing, from what I ve heard more and more people are buying assets now. I found out about this because my friend told me that his buddies were buying codes online to turn in for their computer science classes. I believe that more and more people are resorting to cheating because of all the pressure placed on them from their parents. Professor, and even the school. All that pressure placed on them eventually leads them to try new things that they normally would do to alleviate some of that pressure. If more than half of the students confesses to some sort of academic dishonesty then it would be a question of morality whether or not cheating would still be classified as deviant. It would be classified as deviant in the sense that cheating is wrong and one should not partake in it. But it can also be classified as non deviant because so many people have cheated that it became the norm, and deviance is only behavior that is not the norm. In that sense it wouldn t be deviane. Personally I believe that even more than half of the students have confessed to cheating we should still deem it as deviant behavior because if we don t then more people will have an excuse to partake in ... • 31. The Metropolitan Museum Of Art Has Always Had One Of The The Metropolitan Museum of Art has always had one of the most renowned and respected Islamic art exhibits in the western world. Their collection ranges from the early art of Egypt and the Middle East all the way to some of the most recent Ottoman art pieces. Their vast collection includes an inscribed marble capital from the Spanish Umayyad period, several pieces of pottery from the Mongol empire, and even includes a 4 foot tall, teak kursi made by Hasan [ibn] Sulaiman al Isfahani in Iran in 1360. The collection as a whole was without a doubt one of the most impressive exhibits I had ever seen, but what stood out miles ahead of the other pieces was a full size prayer niche from Isfahan which was dated to be from 1355. It was also one of the first Islamic architectural buildings to employ to use of decorated floral mosaic tiles which was uncommon during the Ilkhanid period but later mastered by the Timurids. Earlier mosaic designs were strictly geometric, but this new floral pattern gained popularity as time passed. While walking through the museum I was fascinated by several secular and religious pieces of art from the Islamic region. The reason that I chose to analyze this piece over the other exhibits was a result of my interest in mosque architecture, and because this was as close as I was able to get to an ancient piece of Islamic architecture. I have seen many qibla walls, many qurans, and many mihrabs, but this specific one was unlike the modern prayer niches in the mosques that I visit, it was a spectacular masterpiece of polychrome mosaic and it was unlike any religious architectural exhibit in the western world. It s impossible to ignore the important role that the east Asian ideas of the Mongol empire played in the religious architecture of the Ilkhanid period, and had the Ilkhanids not been so heavily influenced by Mongol traditions their architecture would have had a completely different look and feel. My first impression of the Madrasa Imami mihrab was the colors. Polychroming was a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

My Internship And The Washington Center Program From the beginning of my internship to the end, my plans for the future have become even clearer as I have completed my internship and the program. I came into this internship with a general idea of what I wanted my future to look like, such as getting my masters, joining the military, and working for federal law enforcement. However, now after completing my internship and The Washington Center program I have a better idea of what I want my immediate future to look like after I graduate college. I plan to apply to as numerous agencies as possible in the fall and if I get hired on, I will join the reserves. If I do not get hired, I will join active duty, and as I become more experienced I will continue to apply to agencies until I am able to get a job in a federal agency. I feel more equipped for a job in law enforcement after I have expanded my knowledge and abilities. Throughout my internship, I was able to expand my software knowledge in Excel, Tableau, and Visio. Tableau is a computer software program used to support data and create visualizations based on the data, such as graphs and tables. I used tableau as part of my brief to upper management in order to make the data I was presenting clearer. Another type of visual aid I developed during my internship was the program Visio. I used Visio to create several diagrams to show cost avoidance. Lastly, I was able to update my abilities on Excel, a skill I have obtained for years, but now am able to do more advanced ... • 33. Essay on Benito Cereno by Herman Melville Benito Cereno by Herman Melville In many stories, the main characters carry the plot of a story throughout the book. The author often expresses the message that he desires the reader to receive through their thoughts and actions. Yet, the minor characters often have a large affect on the outcome of the book, although it is not quite as obvious to the reader. By altering the thoughts or actions of the main characters, a seemingly minor player in a novel may actually, at closer examination, be an important player in the plot. In the short story Benito Cereno, by Herman Melville, the minor character, Atufal, largely influenced Captain Delano, who is a main character. Delano s assessments and opinions aboard the Spanish ship were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... . . remit him of his penalty (163). Delano felt sympathy towards the Negro, and questioned Don Cereno as to why he was treating the slave with such cruelty. Atufal s performance caused Delano to believe that Cereno was in control of the happenings on the boat, and that his prior concerns about the role of the Negroes on the San Dominick should be put to rest. Delano did not do much more than shortly entertain the idea that the blacks were, in fact, in control of the Spanish vessel because of what he witnessed in the situation of Atufal. Atufal affected the plot because he caused Delano to doubt his suspicions, which therefore played a major role in the actions of this main character. The observations of Atufal by Delano greatly helped to form his attitude towards the Negroes upon the ship. The supposed cruelty of Don Cereno towards the slave Atufal created an image of obedience by the blacks in Delano s mind. Delano thought, But [the Negroes] were too stupid (177). Perhaps if Atufal had not implanted images of white supremacy aboard the ship, Captain Delano might have acted sooner in helping to return the ship to Benito Cereno. In the classic story Benito Cereno, by Herman Melville, the minor character Atufal greatly affected the opinions of the main character, Captain Delano, which therefore plays a major part in the plot. Gender, Gender Norms And Sexuality In Gimme Shelter Gender, Gender Norms and Sexuality in Gimme Shelter In 1969, the Rolling Stones played a free concert in San Francisco; the Altamonte Festival, with the goal of having a thank you concert for fans, a day of unity, celebration, a prime example of classic 1960 s freedom. However, the Altamont concert turned into what was arguably one of the biggest disasters in musical history, going from an event that was supposed to capture the essence of the era; a time of peace and love, instead turning into an utter catastrophe, involving drinking, drugs, thefts, people being arrested, fist fights, and four deaths, including the fatal stabbing of an 18 year old man of colour, Meredith Curly Hunter, by a member of the Hell s Angels, Alan Passaro, who had been paid in beer to ... • 35. Aviophobia And Phobia Introduction Air travel is an incredibly useful mode of transportation that enables practically anyone in the world to go practically anywhere they want to. Unfortunately, for some people, it is not as simple and as wonderful as it sounds. Although it is now counted amongst one of the safest ways to travel, many individuals have what is called aviophobia: The fear of flying in an airplane (Faraci, Triscari, Catalisano, D Angelo Urso, 2015). Indeed, phobia of flying is a specific phobia that affects around 25% of the population in varying degrees (Hirsch, 2012). While most people don t catch flights every day, this phobia can still have countless negative effects on affected individuals daily lives. Centered on the main common fears of plane crash and turbulence, symptoms can range from severe anxiousness to full blown panic attacks (Hirsch, 2012) which explain why individuals will go to great lengths if it will allow them to avoid having to endure such distress. When it seems as though catching a flight will be inevitable, individuals with aviophobia might resort to self medication with alcohol or mild sedatives (Hirsch, 2012). The following design assignment will describe a procedure that hopes to make the lives of those with aviophobia easier and allow them to utilize air travel while avoiding distress. Treatment Options In the past, treatment for phobias such as aviophobia were centered around various forms of systematic desensitization primarily practiced with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
