Why Did Steven Spielberg A Game Changer
A two time Oscar winner and a full time Visionary. Steven Allan Spielberg has directed over 100 films
and still counting. Spielberg s dramatic directing style has been capturing audiences attentions for over
50 years. He s changed the movie going experience since day one. Steven Spielberg is a game changer
because he changed modern Cinema with his signature directing style and his iconic DreamWorks
logo. Steven Spielberg was born one year after World War 2 ended. Growing up Jewish was hard for
Spielberg. He often felt as if he was an outcast. He was one of the only Jews at his school. He claims
he has Peter Pan Syndrome meaning he never really grew up. He is still a child at heart. He was scared
of practically everything when he was young, and his creative mind made every creak and bump in the
night a terrifying new monster just waiting to lure him into the darkness. Despite being afraid of most
things in television, he was fascinated with all things movie. He never really paid attention in school,
usually resulting in C s. His father gave him ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He s had to go through extremely stressful scenarios to become the phenomenal director he is today.
In my opinion, the most important moment in his movie making carrier was directing Jaws. That was
the movie that started it all for Spielberg. When he was assigned the job of directing the 1974 novel by
Peter Benchley, Steven s career was now recognized by big Hollywood studios. Very soon production
nightmares happened on the set of Jaws. Spielberg realized a very big problem, We started the film
without a script, without a cast and without a shark (Richard Dreyfus). Spielberg was over budget,
over schedule, and overwhelmed. The mechanical shark used in the film would break due to the salt
water so Spielberg had to come up with interesting ways to not show it. That is why the movie rarely
shows the shark. The young director woke up every day fearing he

Rbi Importance of Being at Appointed Place of Duty
RBI: The importance of being at an appointed location on time In the Army, it is common knowledge
that every Service Member has to be at a certain location, in the proper attire at least ten minutes prior
to the stated time put out by their Team leader, Squad leader, Platoon sergeant, or First Sergeant. When
a Soldier fails to make it to that appointed place in the allotted time, their short coming contributes to
a mission failure and could show early signs of potential lack of career advancement as well as a
general regard of contempt toward not just the squad or platoon, but the unit itself. Soldiers who fail to
make it to the location that they must be at in the time given can have catastrophic results to the
mission, for example: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
to make our final inspections on each other s gear and complete the checklist of everything we were
missing so as to pick up along the way. Once all that was done and we made it to the forest, we had to
make four trips up and down the mountain because of the amount of gear we had, not to mention
trying to find a suitable location to set up our base camp. When all was said and done, we had a nice
roaring fire to keep us warm during the night, and a beautiful full moon to guide us in the darkness.
The following day we had decided to go out and explore the whole area around us, so we would
explore all the trails in a 4 mile radius around our camp, go swimming in the river we discovered, and
make notes on endanger birds we found as well as towers that had been built in the times of
Christopher Columbus visit to Puerto Rico. We also explored some caves and caverns, learned about
how they were created, noting the limestone within the caves and caverns as well as the creatures that
lived within them, such as bats, rats, and a crab to our surprise. In the end, none of this would have
been possible without the proper planning that went into this road trip as well as the joint coordination
and agreements that my friends and I had made prior to the trip itself. With just these few examples I
m sure it can be observed the effectiveness of how being early can have very long term beneficial
effects to the execution of any plan. With regards to the functions of being a Military

RMS Lusitania During World War I
World War I was reminiscent of getting an unpleasant shot at the doctor s office, they promised it
would be over quickly and barely sting, yet it hurts more and the pain goes on and on. In August 1914,
as WWI started, Kaiser Wilhelm told the soldiers, as they were leaving, You will be home before the
leaves have fallen from the trees . The war went on to last 4 years. During the war, America wanted to
stay neutral and out of the way of the European countries. This lasted for almost 3 full years until the
Germans hit a ship, the RMS Lusitania, that had many American passengers with a torpedo sent from
one of their U Boats. The sinking of the RMS Lusitania was done in 1915, by the Germans, which had
a negative impact on the United State s view of Germany. North America eventually joined the Allies
over the Germans practicing unrestricted marine warfare and sinking the United States ships. The ...

A U Boat is a German submarine that uses torpedoes to sink ships, they were very destructive and
were used in unrestricted marine warfare. Captain Walter Schweiger was bringing the boat back home
after 2 days in the water because the boat was running low on fuel and was down to only 3 torpedoes.
On his way home Captain of the U 20 spotted the RMS Lusitania on May 7th of 1915. There was lots
of fog, so the Lusitania wasn t running full speed though it was the fastest liner of its time. Captain
Schweiger of the U 20 followed the Lusitania for an hour before finally shooting a torpedo at it. The
torpedo hit the Lusitania in the starboard right next to the bridge of the ship. Confusion arose among
the passengers on board as the ship began to tilt and a fire started. There was something wrong with
the dispenser for the boats, so he Lusitania began dropping boats into the water and people jumped
down into them, causing them to sink. About 1,198 passengers died and around 138 were

Revelation Is The Act And The Result Of God
Definition of Revelation (in Bibliology)
Revelation is the act and the result of God by which HE communicates to man the truth concerning
Himself in relation to His creatures, and conveys to man the knowledge of His will. It includes general
revelation and special revelation.
God has given His revelation progressively concerning Himself and His will in a variety of forms and
media (Heb.1:1). The special revelation is recorded in the Old and New Testaments.
The Sources of General Revelation
1) Nature creation and providence (Ps. 8:3 4, 19:1 4; Acts 14:17)
2) Conscience within man (Rom. 2:15)
3) Man created bearing the image and likeness of God (Gen. 1:26; Rom. 1:19; Ps. 139:14)
4) Human reasoning ability and the existence of human authority (Rom. 13:2)
5) General religious experience
The significance of General Revelation for those without Special Revelation
1) It explains why man is religious and builds a bridge to share the gospel.
2) It renders him without excuse when facing the judgment (Rom. 1:20).
3) It brings him to consciousness of sin and his need of Christ and thus brings him toward Christ.
The Relationship between the Living Word and the Written Word
1) Both of the Living Word and the Written Word are necessary for our salvation and sanctification.
The Special Revelation is to lead us to Christ (Luke 24:25 27; John 5:39 40). We (after AD. 2
Century) can only know Christ through the Scriptures (John 20:31). It is impossible to truly study the
Scriptures without

Freedom In Boy s Life By Corey Kienson
One similar theme in each text is the idea of freedom. In Boy s Life, the main character, Corey, feels
trapped inside of his classroom on the last day of school. All he wants is to begin his summer vacation,
where he is free from the burden of books, facts and figures, and dates and quotations. In paragraph 8
he s dying to get out of class and shows major impatience when the class down the hallway is let out
early. He even says, My insides quaked at the injustice of it. Freedom is also a theme in the fable
because the story is about an animal born into a cage, and this animal has never experienced freedom.
In fact, the animal saw above and about him confining walls, and before him were bars of iron. The
theme of freedom is present through the voice of the narrator, Corey Mackenson, in Boy s Life. The
theme is immediately developed through the use of onomatopoeia and repetition of paragraphs 1, 3,
and 6 saying, Tick...tick...tick. The narrator takes on the attitude of an average school boy on the last
day of school. He s dying to begin his summer adventures where he and his friends are free from the
burdens created by school. This is shown in paragraph 5 where he states, The world was out there,
waiting beyond the square metal rimmed windows. The narrator is obviously ... Show more content on

about freedom he can hardly contain himself, My heart was a frog leaping out of murky water into
clear sunlight. I said, Thanks! and I ran for the door. The animal realizes the joy and adventure from
freedom after he accidently escapes his cage when, On he rushes, in his mad flight, heedless that he is
wounding and tearing his sleek sides seeing, smelling, touching of all things. Both Corey and the
animal find great joy and adventure in their

The Film Hamlet By William Shakespeare
The film Hamlet by William Shakespeare was made by two directors in two different versions which
one was Kenneth Branagh and the other Franco Zeffirelli. By watching the four scenes of the play of
the two versions, the viewer has come up to the conclusion that Kenneth Branagh s version best
captures the essence of the play in terms of costume design, acting, directing, and cinematography.
The directing and cinematography in Act IV, Scene V the Ophelia Madness Scene as well as the
acting, costume design in Act V, Scene II the Final Scene showed that Branagh s version of the film
Hamlet is the most effective.
Branagh s use of directing in Act IV, Scene V in the Ophelia Madness Scene helped best to present the
scene in a most effective way. Ophelia has gone mad due to her father s loss, people have been
suspicious and disturbed by the death as well. Laertes who is Ophelia s sister has come back from
France with a mob of commoners who they call Laertes lord and people say that Laertes shall become
king. He enters the hall with an eager ready to avenge his father s death, Claudius the king tries to
calm him down by acknowledging that Polonius is dead. The director in Branagh s version provided a
padded cell for Ophelia where it shows that she really has gone insane and when she entered the hall,
began singing about chaos, death, and unsatisfied love. The clothes she was wrapped in demonstrates
an excellent illustration of her madness because when the

Vitamin C Content in Fruit Juices
Aim: To investigate the vitamin C content of fruit juice. Introduction In this experiment I will be
finding out which fruit juice contains the most vitamin C. I will be using a method similar to titration
but I will be using a syringe instead of a burette.
Vitamin C Vitamin C also known as ascorbic acid is needed for growth and maintenance of healthy
tissues, especially skin, blood vessels, bones, gums, teeth. Vitamin C aids in resistance against
infection and healing of wounds. It also helps the body absorb iron from food. Vitamin C can be found
in green vegetables, potatoes, tomatoes and citrus fruits such as oranges and lemon. A lack of vitamin
C can cause scurvy, iron deficiency and poor wound healing. A healthy diet ... Show more content on

My dependant variable is the amount of Vitamin C in each fruit juice. I will observe the solution when
it is decolourizing. I will use the same volume of DCPIP solution for each fruit juice so that the results
are accurate and valid. I will use the results from this experiment to work out how much vitamin C the
fruit juices contain.
Preliminary Test In the preliminary test I used 3cm3 of DCPIP solution. A large amount of juice was
needed to change the colour of the DCPIP to colourless. I changed the amount of DCPIP solution from
3cm3 to 1cm3. This is because less juice will be needed to change 1cm3 of DCPIP from blue to
colourless. I used test tubes to hold the DCPIP and the 1% ascorbic acid but it was difficult to mix the
two solutions together so I decided to use a boiling tube instead. I tested the 1% ascorbic acid in the
preliminary test and I found that I need less than 3cm3 of the solution.
Equipment
12x Boiling tube
2x Test tube rack
1% DCPIP solution (1cm3 x15)
4x 5ml syringe
1% ascorbic acid (3cm3 x3)
Pineapple juice (30cm3 x3)
Orange Juice (30cm3 x3)
Lemon juice (30cm3 x3)
The boiling tubes will be used to hold the juice and the 1 % DCPIP solution. I will use boiling tubes
because in the preliminary test I used a test tube and I found that the test tube was too small and was
hard to shake the mixture therefore I will be using boiling tubes as the are slightly

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Steganographic File System...
Although database forensic lie in its generalization which should be applicable for all types of
operations, B+tree does not give much information about this is the disadvantage described in the
paper. The paper StegFS: Steganographic file system [1] introduce StegFS, a practical scheme to
implement a steganographic file system. StegFS hides user selected files in a file system so that,
without the knowledge of related access keys, an attacker would not be able to find out their existence.
Even if the attackers have full knowledge of the hardware and software of the file system, and about
the data structures, an attacker cannot find its trace. StegFS ensures integrity of the file and maintain
sufficient space utilization. The Potential limitations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dead files by dead accounts may not be removed without the cooperation of the corresponding users.
In the paper Steganographic Schemes for File System and B Tree [3], they have introduced StegFD, a
practical scheme to implement a steganographic file system in which a plausible deniability to owners
of protected files is offered. StegFD hides the selected files in a file system securely in such a way
that, an attacker will not be able to trace their existence, even if the attacker has full knowledge of the
hardware and software and data structures of the file system .They have also proposed two schemes
for implementing Steganographic B trees in a StegFD volume. In paper A Multi User Steganographic
File System on Untrusted Shared Storage [4] the threat to steganographic file systems (StegFS) is
described which arises when the storage system is untrusted and is shared by multiple users. In such
cases, the attacker could obtain multiple snapshots of the storage content and analyze them to deduce
the existence of secret user data. To solve this problem, they have introduced a Dummy Relocatable
Steganographic (DRSteg) file system. It employs new techniques to share and relocate dummy data at

Summary Of Disco Rice And Other Trash Talk
In the article Disco Rice, and Other Trash Talk written by Ian Urbina, the sanitation workers
developed their own slang. Many people who work as garbage men cannot understand one persons
language, or way of speaking. Using slang as a language is easier for all of the workers to
communicate as a group. In addition to making it easier to communicate there are also several other
reasons why New York workers use slang terms. First of all, the garbage men are working in the hot
summer. In paragraph four it says It makes disgusting items not so disgusting. Using other words like
mongo and Disco rice is looking at the trash in a different way. They would no longer have to picture
loads of debris. using different words can also be a distraction

Equilibrium Of I-Point Object Essay
Equilibrium of à Point Object Background
Aim
Our aim in this experiment is to determine the magnitude of an unknown force by using two known
masses on force table.
Variables
Independent: Magnitude of two known masses
Dependent: Angle between two known masses
Control:
Unknown force
Acceleration of gravity (9.81 m/s2) (Pearson Physics)
Hypothesis
Q, the angle between two known masses is directly proportional with the of two known masses.
Theory
We have already stated in our aim that we are trying to find an unknown mass by using two known
masses. For our force table to stay constant, it has to be at equilibrium. Equilibrium is à statement
where opposing forces are balanced, which means that

Conclusion
Our hypothesis is supported by the calculations we made.
Evaluation
Even though the experiments we did generally supported our hypothesis, as we understood from the
graph, there were points which aren t even close to best fit line. Random errors in this experiment may
cause this aberration such as our point of view. Also, we didn t include the weight of the strings, which
might also affect the accuracy of the calculations.
Improvements
→ We only made 5 trials. We can increase the number of trials to decrease the possibility of random
errors.
→ We could check the flexibility of the strings.

Tsar Nicholas s The Great War
Introduction Tsar Nicholas II s reign was turbulent, seeing wars, revolutions, and a general sense of
displeasure from the people and the government. Intellectuals were no longer content with living
under an autocracy and believed that the Russian government was archaic and inefficient. Peasants
spoke out against their poor living and working conditions. By 1917, Nicholas reign was over and the
Romanov family was no longer in power. One of the leading causes of the Romanov downfall was
Nicholas himself. Although the situation in which he inherited the throne were not ideal, his character
and method of dealing with state affairs did not help. His personality affected his leadership style,
making his leadership style an unpopular one. Even his most trusted advisors and friends came second
to Nicholas desire to uphold autocracy in Russia. The influence of Pyotr Stolypin and Sergei Witte,
two of Nicholas senior officials, faded as Nicholas thought they hindered his supreme autocracy.
Nicholas character was also evident in the Great War. His many stubborn decisions, despite being
constantly advised against them, caused Russia much grief during and after the war. Nicholas wife
Alexandra influenced many of these decisions and other decisions on state affairs. Nicholas
personality allowed Alexandra to have a large impact on his reign. This further gave Grigori Rasputin
a large political presence in Russia as well. Nicholas s personality was one of the factors that

Design Of 5 Stroke Engine
Abstract This paper is a description of design of 5 stroke engine. Basic principle of Otto cycle which
is used in all the gasoline engines is described to polish the basic concept of gasoline engines. 5 stroke
engine which was first designed by ilmor engineering limited is being studied by several different
universities and research workers. As an idea to present Gerhard Schmitz gave theory of 5 stroke
engine. Several hypothesis has been made on this idea. In this paper explanation of almost all the
aspects of engine necessary are covered including balancing of engine, efficiency of engine, noise
generated in the engine, exhaust gases in the engine, compression ratios, emission problems,
feasibility of 5 stroke engine and also suitable comparison of 4 stroke basic gasoline engines with 5
stroke engines. Feasibility of hypothesis of 4 strokes being replaced by 5 stroke in the coming time is
described. Description of detailed engine design and results of preliminary research done on it is
included in this report. Results of the research confirmed that efficiency of 5 stroke engine is more
than 4 stroke engine. Key words Otto cycle, Gasoline engines, 5 stroke, Feasibility, Emissions.

What I Learned From Taking American Civilization 1700
At the beginning of the semester I wrote an assignment addressing what I wanted to learn from taking
American Civilization 1700. I went through the course syllabus and I chose skills that I thought were
important for me to know better as well as important to my future career as a teacher. Two skills that I
did not list that I wanted to work on were comparing and contrasting. Comparing and contrasting are
two skills that I thought I was quite good at and had no problems with. When it came to do the Written
Assignment #2 Compare and Contrast Essay, I found out that I was mistaken in my assumption. I
struggled and had to obtain help from the professor on what there was to compare and contrast
between the two documents the essay was about. After the professor helped and guided me, I was able
to learn how to properly compare the similarities and contrast the differences between two different
documents. I chose to post my first written assignment as my signature assignment on my personal
eportfolio because I am proud of how it turned out and I feel it was the assignment I learned the most
from. I didn t just learn to compare and contrast, I learned to interpret old documentation and
references, I learned that the same time frame in history, for example, the immigration period that the
assignment covered, can have two very different perspectives. The paper I wrote had both strength and
weaknesses. The strengths were, I did a good job at finding thing to compare and contrast, but

Creative Writing In Avatar
Every writer has a beginning. This is the story of how I started out writing.
It all started when I was 16 when I went to the cinema to view James Cameron s comeback film
Avatar. It was late 2009 when the film had just come out in the middle of December. It was Cameron s
comeback after a 12 year hiatus after the roaring success of Titanic in 1997 which won him numerous
Oscars. Needless to say, I loved it. The film was beautiful. I had never experienced a film where I
would feel for the characters.
Yeah, that is a long time for a filmmaker to be on hiatus. Though, he was able to pull it off. Similar to
when he took a long hiatus between The Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgement Day.
Good things come to those who wait. Unknown
Avatar inspired me to begin writing fan fiction and the writing bug just took hold. The bug continued
all throughout my two senior years of high school (that s years 11 and 12 in Australia). I still write
fanfiction from time to time. However, I haven t published anything in ages.
After high school, I went to film school and couldn t quite find where my niche laid. I wasn t an expert
with cameras and I was awful at anything else. When the second trimester rolled around, relief flooded
me when I discovered that one of the classes was screenwriting. It was writing. Something that I was
familiar with, even if I had never written in that particular format before.
Okay, I might not have chosen the best story to adapt and it was my first time ever

Similarities Between Mount Vesuvius And St. Helens
Have you ever been near a volcano when it erupted? Most of us haven t, but if you re unlucky enough,
you just might have. Many people think it would be cool, but it is indeed not. In fact, the people of
Pompeii were very unlucky when Mount Vesuvius erupted in 79 AD. Nearly two thousand people
died. Although that eruption was very similar to the 1980 eruption of Saint Helens, it was also very
different.
The two Stratovolcanoes, Mt. Vesuvius and St. Helens, have many traits in common. For example,
when these two volcanoes erupted, they both made a huge ash cloud. Also, they both began with
harmonic tremors, which are small earthquakes, that includes the venting of gases from the magma of
volcanoes. Also, they spewed tons of ash and pumice.

The Romans believed in a large array of gods (Bleiberg, 2005). Some included Mars, God of War, and

example, before going to war the General would shake a spear, one sacred to the God of War Mars, at
the foot of Mar s alter. This would tell the General whether Mars spirit was apprehensive about the
upcoming battle by causing mars spirit to move the spear. Through reviewing Ancient Rome s rituals
and beliefs, it can be said that Ancient Romans were both polytheists and animists (Bleiberg,

Mlab Concert Review
On November 18, 2015, I attended a UAB concert involving jazz combos and a guitar ensemble. This
concert was filled with amazing musicians, intricate solos, and thick harmonies. There were three jazz
combos and one guitar ensemble; the first set was the guitar ensemble, which contained four guitarists
and one bass player. The ensemble consisted of four songs: Swing It, a swing style song; Samba #1 ; A
Child is Born, a waltz; and Bill s Bay. The main theme of Bill s Bay was very catchy and memorable,
and the ensemble s most impressive player to me was Michael Galanti on the bass guitar. His solos
involved precise pizzicato and quick movement that I have never witnessed in a bass player. Next, the
series of jazz combos began, and a younger group of UAB students started to play. Their first song
was The Preacher by Horace Silver, and this song was the only song with lyrics. The singer was nearly
impossible to hear because she was singing in piano while the other group members were playing in
fortissimo. Also, I was startled by how loud the brass instruments sounded in the concert hall;
however, this is due to the trumpet being a haut instrument. Then, another combo began playing, and
this combo was under the guidance of Carlos Pino. The group brought more energy and more skill,

The four songs in their set were either composed or arranged by a member of the group. Due to
experience, each member was comfortable on stage and highly skilled; therefore, every solo was near
perfection. This combo was unique because it had a trombone player, Henry Panion IV. Throughout
this entire concert, every performance had one thing in common. Every player seemed to be having
fun and loved to play jazz. This was my first opportunity to go to a jazz concert, and it allowed me to
hear a completely new style of music. It opened my eyes to a great genre of American

Andre Agassi Relationship
Open
Family relationships are not always easy. You have grown up in a different generation and a different
world than your parents did, and your grandparents did, and therefore it can be difficult to understand
one another. This is a problem that the tennis player Andre Agassi in his childhood has experienced
and writes about in this extract from his autobiography Open from 2009.
He begins his autobiography with the lines My father s mother lives with us. She s a nasty old lady
from Tehran with a wart on the size of a walnut on the edge of her nose . Already here his relationship
with his grandmother has been established as problematic, as the first thing we must know about her is
her walnut sized wart. He sees his grandma s only purpose ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This was the way his father was taught how to fight, although his true compassion was tennis. Since
no one else in Iran played tennis, he had no one to compete with, and therefore he pressured Andre
Agassi to play, although it may not have been what he wanted to accomplish with his life She should
tell him to back off, ease up, that tennis isn t life . His relationship to his father is troubled as well he
even nicknamed the father the dragon . His favorite family member is his uncle Isar whom he has
heard about all his life, but first meets after Isar has escaped from Iran. In appearance, his father and
uncle are identical, but to Andre Agassi is their behavior the exact opposite of each other My father is
shrill and stern and filled with rage. Uncle Isar is soft spoken and patient and funny . His uncle helps
him with his homework and will gladly explain it to him as much as needed, whereas his father would
lose his temper if Andre Agassi did not understand it after the first explanation. Uncle Isar s calm
speaks to Andre Agassi, who finds it hard to understand his father s rage. His relationship with his
siblings is not mentioned in this extract, but in the end of the extract he comments on his mother. She

Summary Of Kafka s In The Penal Colony
Kafka s In the Penal Colony chronicles a colony s justice system, from the point of view of an
outsider. Through the narrative, the reader is able to witness several oddities in the way that justice is
carried out. In the Penal Colony compares to Duff and Garland s Introduction: Thinking about
Punishment, the versus surrounding the trial of Jesus, and the story of the deluge in the normative
issues of crime, punishment , and justice that it brings to light. In Kafka s In the Penal Colony, the
officer is presented as a character who has a deep devotion to the apparatus, and its ability to exact
justice. The officer is fixated on punishment, never questioning whether or not punishment must
follow a crime. The officer s character encompasses the thinking that crime and punishment
undoubtedly go together. Duff and Garland s introduction to Thinking about Punishment raise this
issue, that our common patterns of thought lead us to link crime with punishment in an apparently
obvious and natural way;...there is reason to doubt that the two concepts need always be combined in
this manner. Duff and Garland challenge the normative thinking of crime and punishment. In contrast,
the officer barrels through with his fixation on the right type of punishment, the contemplation of the
institution of punishment absent from his mind. Furthermore, In the Penal Colony presents issues as to
the nature of a crime . In In the Penal Colony, the condemned man, once a soldier, is

Differences Between Facts And Theories Of Math And History...
Differences in the Relationship between Facts and Theories: Math and History Theories have been
defines as integrated set of concepts formed into propositions that explain different phenomena or
events (Schneider 2), while facts as thing that is undisputed as the case or corresponds to the truth
(Mellor 110). Both facts and theories are used to generate knowledge that can be applied in verse
situations. However, the relationship between facts and theories differs between different areas of
knowledge and there is no universal law dictating it, with some areas such as math having the theories
precede the facts, while other areas such as history having the facts precede the theories. This paper
will discuss the differences in the relationship of facts and theories of math and history using calculus
and World War II respectively. First argument The first argument analyses math and the notion that
theories precede the facts in this field. This argument uses calculus as a real life situation. Calculus is a
branch of mathematics involved with the calculation of varying quantities (Rohde et al. 1). It is
considered significant because it provides principles required to calculate quantities that cannot be
calculated using other mathematical concepts such as algebra or geometry (Rohde et al. 1; and Ledder
5 ). Most of its concepts apply deductive thinking making it one of the most applied mathematical
concepts in real life situations. Like most mathematical branches calculus is

Persuasive Essay On Juveniles
Elizabeth Alexander had nearly fallen asleep one ___ night in 2016 when she was jostled awake by a
firecracker of a noise. She noticed an unusually bright orange light, which she at first thought it was a
street light beaming through a starless Selma sky. She soon realized it was instead her car, engulfed in
radiant flames. One of the only items she owned was being taken from her, and she could do nothing
about it. She sat in awe and disbelief, a moment of euphoria that would set her life on an unexpected
journey. Until that point, Alexander had lived her life as a rebel, a badge she wore proudly after years
of internal turmoil. She spent time in foster care as a child, since her diabetic mother was in and out of
the hospital and could not always care for her three children. While there, Alexander was sexually
abused by older girls in the system. In school, she was bullied. All of these environmental elements
led to creating Alexander s tough girl persona as a child. I was a fighter. I would fight you, it didn t
matter who you were, because I got picked on so much that it became my defense, Alexander said.
Alexander, now 24, has been arrested once for every year of her life. The majority of the arrests
occurred when she was a juvenile, and most were for disorderly conduct. A locked up life is not a
hopeful one. But for the first time, as Alexander watched her livelihood disappear into the midnight
air, she saw opportunity in disparity. She no longer had a car in which she

Compare And Contrast Sonnet 60 And 64
Sonnets 60 and 64 are about the effects of time. This is a recurrent theme in Shakespeare s poems.
Through the use of imagery, Shakespeare provides relatable experiences to describe the passage of
time. Sonnet 60 provides three examples of the passage of time the first is waves moving towards a
shore, the second is a child growing to maturity, and the third is time s effects on the beauty of youth.
Sonnet 64 provides three of Shakespeare s personal experiences the first is time s effects on towers
and brass, the second is the ocean and a shore, the third is the change of condition of things. Both
sonnets have similarities and differences in themes, structure, and speech acts.
Sonnets 60 and 64 have a similar theme of Time destroying things and eventually taking his love
away. The difference is that sonnet 60 has a more hopeful ending than sonnet 64. In the couplet of
sonnet 60 Shakespeare has hope that his verse will stand against time and the poem ... Show more

In both sonnets the word confound is used to describe the actions of Time. This word in both sonnets
express the destructive nature of Time. Also, in sonnet 64 there is a sonic pattern. 10 of the 14 lines
end with a word that contains a long a sound for example: defaced, age, razed, rage, gain, main, state,
decay, ruminate, and away. This repetition could symbolize that Time s effects are constant. The poem
also ends with the word lose so this could mean Time s effects are constant until the thing it is
effecting is lost. There is one subject per quatrain in sonnet 60. In quatrain one the subject is waves,
quatrain two the subject is nativity, and in quatrain three the subject is Time. In sonnet 64 there is only
one main subject and verb which is I and the verb is Seen . However, in the couplet of sonnet 64 the
subject is ambiguous. It could be the thought or death that is doing the action of weeping for
something that it will

Contrary to Coca Cola executives beliefs, the Pepsi Challenge didn t necessarily prove that people
preferred Pepsi to Coke; it just suggested that, when blindfolded, people preferred a small amount of
Pepsi to the same amount of Coke. Louis Cheskin s success as an advertiser is notable because it
proves that people don t always know what they want; they have to be told. In the case of margarine,
for instance, people weren t consciously aware that they would respond to margarine wrapped in
attractive gold foil it wasn t until Cheskin released margarine of this kind that people discovered their
attraction to such a product. It s also important to notice that Cheskin didn t change the taste of
margarine; rather, he only altered the product s presentation. Good packaging can be very important
because it catches customers eyes and convinces them that the product itself is good, too. Cheskin s
research into marketing and packaging has been very influential, inspiring hundreds of companies to
revamp their products. Once a new package or advertisement is proven to be successful, many other
companies will try to imitate that package or ad hence the sudden popularity of semi realistic food

Curly Girl Research Paper
Every curly girl knows that when it comes to conditioners, slip is crucial. Slip is everything. Slip is
life. Slip in a product refers its lubricity i.e. its ability to reduce friction so that strands of hair slide
past each other (instead of becoming tangled) and detangling tools can pass through hair with relative
ease. The amount of slip a product provides is an indicator of how easily knots and tangles will
become undone when you slide a comb, brush or fingers through the hair after you ve applied that
particular product. While slip is beneficial in any product it is especially important in conditioners
since this is the step in a hair regimen when hair is typically detangled.

Trigger Warning
Trigger warnings and the underlying issue In the essay The Coddling of the American Mind , Greg
Lukianoff and Jonathan Haidt argue trigger warnings are hindering the learning experience in college.
While this is true it goes farther than just that, there is an epidemic of a certain mentality spreading
across the United States. This mentality is that everyone is deserving of content warnings, whether it
be graphic, on paper, or ideas in a discussion everywhere they go. This is a terrible mentality to have,
because it breeds an underlying issue. The issue at hand is a psychological issue that can be treated
over time. The issue s severity depends on what the person wants a trigger warning for. In the extreme
cases, there are completely unreasonable demands for warnings because it could be too common, there
would be too many warnings, while in other cases it is more reasonable but still should not become the
norm of society. If trigger warnings become the norm for the world it would cause harm to individuals
minds and society. To begin with, what is a trigger warning or content warning? Both trigger warnings
and content warnings can be used in place of one another because they stand for the same thing. A
trigger warning is a warning that means there is a topic or idea that will be discussed or shown
visually that could cause stress to some people. These can range from reasonable topics such as rape,
abuse, or death. Those topics rarely come up in day to day conversations and contain some of the
worst acts a human can do, and it is reasonable to offer trigger warnings for these topics. It is not
acceptable, however, to require these warnings on everyone that talks about these topics. On the other
extreme some people could claim to have been offended at ordinary topics that show up in daily
conversation. A short story in Greg Lukianoff and Jonathan Haidt s paper was about a professor,
Francis Schmidt, that had received a suspension from a harmless action. This action was that he
posted a picture of his daughter on Facebook, who happened to be wearing a shirt with a Game of
Thrones quote. A student took this as a threat and complained to the school, how is a trigger warning
supposed to be put on that? This is

Asbestos And The Clean Air Act Of 1970 ( Caa )
Asbestos
Asbestos has been being used in the construction industry for decades. It dates back all the way to the
Ancient Egyptians and Ancient Greeks. Asbestos is a natural occurring mineral made up of six sets of
fibrous mineral: chrysotile, crocidolite, amosite, anthophyllite, tremolite and actinolite. Asbestos is a
compound that is very versatile. In the 1800s, during the Industrial Revolution, asbestos was being
widely used throughout companies for various reasons. Companies like Ford Motor Company,
General Electric, General Motors, and Mobil Oil Corporation were all companies using asbestos in
their products. Companies used this fibrous mineral as a insular in houses, schools, steam engines, fire
proof ocean vessels, and even in the brakes of automobiles. Construction workers can become deathly
ill after long term exposure to this mineral.
When it was known about the effects of the exposure to asbestos, the Clean Air Act of 1970(CAA)
was put in place so we could have a national systems that will control the emissions of air pollutants.
The CAA was put in place to stop on the release of emissions into the air. It would be soon to see that
it would be something unachievable but it was revised to put in place a standard for the hazardous air
pollutants. The standards of the emissions that could be released in the air had to be set at a high level
due to the concern of the public s health. Companies who did not follow these standards were

What are L Oreal s major barriers to pursuing a global strategy ?
Overall
L Oréal s decision to fight the European shampoo battle required considerable coordination between
company headquarters and the subsidiaries
Balancing the global strategy for Elséve with different market characteristics and particularities was
going to be one of the most crucial issues for success.
Competition had traditionally been based on price, which made margins relatively narrow. The result
was a rather lucklustre market where brands were unable to differentiate themselves in the eyes of the
consumer or position themselves to stand out from the rest.
The global strategy had to be implemented in the different markets, bearing in mind that each of ...

This situation did not directly affect consumers buying habits except in one area: if customers did not
find the brand they were looking for at a superstore, they waited until it was restocked and bought it

The three main shampoo brands in Spain belonged to Procter Gamble.
According to industry experts, demand in the Spanish market showed a trend towards sophisticated
and scientific products focused on specific needs. The market therefore accepted the introduction of
new products that contained technological innovations, as well as professional line products. Natural
ingredients were also very well accepted.
The Spanish market did not differ greatly form other markets, except for the fact that the
modernization and activation of the Spanish market had occurred somewhat later than in other
countries.
One of the main peculiarities of the Spanish market was the Size of the shampoo bottles, significantly
bigger than the average European bottle of 200 250 ml.
Marketing and format size that was different from the other countries meant lower production
efficiency and also took a bite out of manufacturers profitability.
Discovering new unsatisfied need on this market was rather difficult. Shampoo was a basic product
and finding a different positioning was a major challenge.
The level of advertising investment was quite high and improving the brands market share meant

The Meaning Of Globalization And Sustainable Development
In this paper, I aim to present conceptually the meaning of globalization and sustainable development.
The purpose of this paper is to utilize the three pillars of sustainable development (economy, society
and environment) to explain the significance of sustainable development as an approach in a
globalized world. A critical literature review on the multidisciplinary literature from the first four
weeks of this unit is thoroughly studied in order to get a clear understating of the existing issues,
tensions and synergies regarding globalization and sustainable development. Moreover, underlying the
fact that there s conflict between ecological balances and increasing demand for economic growth
(Byrne Glover, 2002), this paper also highlights the ways in which globalization can be sustained.
Literature on Globalization and Sustainable Development
Contemporary literature reveals that globalization continues to gain widespread popularity in the
political and business world (Yeung, 2015) because of its ability to encompass the diverse set of
economic, political and cultural processes (Kelly, 1999). Despite of its popularity, the literature on
globalization remains highly ambiguous and chaotic (Jessop 1999, as cited in Yeung 2015). As (Byrne
Glover, 2002) suggest that meaning of globalization differ from scholars to scholars, to one analyst, it
may present a way to promote economic growth and cultural exchange (Bryan Farrell, 1996; Thurow,
1999, as cited in Byrne Glover,

How Does Climate Change Affect Agriculture
Will Climate Change Affect Agriculture?
Climate change otherwise known as global warming has been an ongoing issue for decades.
Beginning in the 19th century, climate change has increasingly affected Earth and its atmosphere.
Rising levels of carbon dioxide are warming the Earth s atmosphere, causing rising sea levels, melting
snow and ice, extreme fires and droughts, and intense rainfall and floods. Climate change has and will
continue to affect food production, availability of water, and can add to many health risks in humans
and animals. In fact, in an article by Justin Gillis titled, Scientists Warn of Perilous Climate Shift
Within Decades, Not Centuries he focuses on a paper written by a former NASA climate scientist,
James E. Hansen, explaining the effects of climate change on Earth today. Although many believe
Hansen s theories in the paper are quite far fetched, the author mentions, Despite any reservations they
might have about the new paper, virtually all climate scientists agree with Dr. Hansen s group that
society is not moving fast enough to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases, posing grave risks (Gillis).
Gillis validates the fact that climate change has been rapidly expanding throughout Earth and society
has not been able to reduce it fast enough. Many negative risks are being posed and will continue to
mount if the issue of climate change is not taken seriously. Although climate change negatively affects
nearly all aspects of Earth, it poses a big

The Inertial Navigation System ( Ins )
The inertial navigation system (INS) is a highly complex device which utilises very sensitive sensors
to generate movement information and a computer to develop an algorithm of motion over time. The
INS can be described as very sophisticated dread reckoning. The sensors which are used in an INS are
accelerometers and gyroscopes which are further linked to a computer. The main consideration is that
these highly sensitive and advanced sensors used in an INS still have errors from accuracy limitations
in units of basic design or original outdated concepts. The accuracy can be improved with more
complex and updated integration which includes the use of the better and more advanced components.
To understand the errors associated with INS, a closer look into the flow of information is essential.
The north facing accelerometer is mounted to a platform which is supported by gyroscopes. Any
accelerations detected are given to the first stage integrator which uses the time component to develop
velocity data. The second integrator uses the velocity data and time to calculate the distance travelled
which is then added to the present position to generate a new present position. The system uses a
backwards feedback loop of velocity data to the gyroscopes to make accelerometer platform
perpendicular to the local gravity vector. This model is used for both north facing and east facing
platforms and combined with the secant multiplier. The basic system designs would carry a greater
error but

  • 2. Why Did Steven Spielberg A Game Changer A two time Oscar winner and a full time Visionary. Steven Allan Spielberg has directed over 100 films and still counting. Spielberg s dramatic directing style has been capturing audiences attentions for over 50 years. He s changed the movie going experience since day one. Steven Spielberg is a game changer because he changed modern Cinema with his signature directing style and his iconic DreamWorks logo. Steven Spielberg was born one year after World War 2 ended. Growing up Jewish was hard for Spielberg. He often felt as if he was an outcast. He was one of the only Jews at his school. He claims he has Peter Pan Syndrome meaning he never really grew up. He is still a child at heart. He was scared of practically everything when he was young, and his creative mind made every creak and bump in the night a terrifying new monster just waiting to lure him into the darkness. Despite being afraid of most things in television, he was fascinated with all things movie. He never really paid attention in school, usually resulting in C s. His father gave him ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He s had to go through extremely stressful scenarios to become the phenomenal director he is today. In my opinion, the most important moment in his movie making carrier was directing Jaws. That was the movie that started it all for Spielberg. When he was assigned the job of directing the 1974 novel by Peter Benchley, Steven s career was now recognized by big Hollywood studios. Very soon production nightmares happened on the set of Jaws. Spielberg realized a very big problem, We started the film without a script, without a cast and without a shark (Richard Dreyfus). Spielberg was over budget, over schedule, and overwhelmed. The mechanical shark used in the film would break due to the salt water so Spielberg had to come up with interesting ways to not show it. That is why the movie rarely shows the shark. The young director woke up every day fearing he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Rbi Importance of Being at Appointed Place of Duty RBI: The importance of being at an appointed location on time In the Army, it is common knowledge that every Service Member has to be at a certain location, in the proper attire at least ten minutes prior to the stated time put out by their Team leader, Squad leader, Platoon sergeant, or First Sergeant. When a Soldier fails to make it to that appointed place in the allotted time, their short coming contributes to a mission failure and could show early signs of potential lack of career advancement as well as a general regard of contempt toward not just the squad or platoon, but the unit itself. Soldiers who fail to make it to the location that they must be at in the time given can have catastrophic results to the mission, for example: ... Once all that was done and we made it to the forest, we had to make four trips up and down the mountain because of the amount of gear we had, not to mention trying to find a suitable location to set up our base camp. When all was said and done, we had a nice roaring fire to keep us warm during the night, and a beautiful full moon to guide us in the darkness. The following day we had decided to go out and explore the whole area around us, so we would explore all the trails in a 4 mile radius around our camp, go swimming in the river we discovered, and make notes on endanger birds we found as well as towers that had been built in the times of Christopher Columbus visit to Puerto Rico. We also explored some caves and caverns, learned about how they were created, noting the limestone within the caves and caverns as well as the creatures that lived within them, such as bats, rats, and a crab to our surprise. In the end, none of this would have been possible without the proper planning that went into this road trip as well as the joint coordination and agreements that my friends and I had made prior to the trip itself. With just these few examples I m sure it can be observed the effectiveness of how being early can have very long term beneficial effects to the execution of any plan. • 4. RMS Lusitania During World War I World War I was reminiscent of getting an unpleasant shot at the doctor s office, they promised it would be over quickly and barely sting, yet it hurts more and the pain goes on and on. In August 1914, as WWI started, Kaiser Wilhelm told the soldiers, as they were leaving, You will be home before the leaves have fallen from the trees . The war went on to last 4 years. During the war, America wanted to stay neutral and out of the way of the European countries. This lasted for almost 3 full years until the Germans hit a ship, the RMS Lusitania, that had many American passengers with a torpedo sent from one of their U Boats. The sinking of the RMS Lusitania was done in 1915, by the Germans, which had a negative impact on the United State s view of Germany. North America eventually joined the Allies over the Germans practicing unrestricted marine warfare and sinking the United States ships. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A U Boat is a German submarine that uses torpedoes to sink ships, they were very destructive and were used in unrestricted marine warfare. Captain Walter Schweiger was bringing the boat back home after 2 days in the water because the boat was running low on fuel and was down to only 3 torpedoes. On his way home Captain of the U 20 spotted the RMS Lusitania on May 7th of 1915. There was lots of fog, so the Lusitania wasn t running full speed though it was the fastest liner of its time. Captain Schweiger of the U 20 followed the Lusitania for an hour before finally shooting a torpedo at it. The torpedo hit the Lusitania in the starboard right next to the bridge of the ship. Confusion arose among the passengers on board as the ship began to tilt and a fire started. • 5. Revelation Is The Act And The Result Of God Definition of Revelation (in Bibliology) Revelation is the act and the result of God by which HE communicates to man the truth concerning Himself in relation to His creatures, and conveys to man the knowledge of His will. It includes general revelation and special revelation. God has given His revelation progressively concerning Himself and His will in a variety of forms and media (Heb.1:1). The special revelation is recorded in the Old and New Testaments. The Sources of General Revelation 1) Nature creation and providence (Ps. 8:3 4, 19:1 4; Acts 14:17) 2) Conscience within man (Rom. 2:15) 3) Man created bearing the image and likeness of God (Gen. 1:26; Rom. 1:19; Ps. 139:14) 4) Human reasoning ability and the existence of human authority (Rom. 13:2) 5) General religious experience The significance of General Revelation for those without Special Revelation 1) It explains why man is religious and builds a bridge to share the gospel. 2) It renders him without excuse when facing the judgment (Rom. 1:20). 3) It brings him to consciousness of sin and his need of Christ and thus brings him toward Christ. The Relationship between the Living Word and the Written Word 1) Both of the Living Word and the Written Word are necessary for our salvation and sanctification. The Special Revelation is to lead us to Christ (Luke 24:25 27; John 5:39 40). We (after AD. 2 Century) can only know Christ through the Scriptures (John 20:31). • 6. Freedom In Boy s Life By Corey Kienson One similar theme in each text is the idea of freedom. In Boy s Life, the main character, Corey, feels trapped inside of his classroom on the last day of school. All he wants is to begin his summer vacation, where he is free from the burden of books, facts and figures, and dates and quotations. In paragraph 8 he s dying to get out of class and shows major impatience when the class down the hallway is let out early. He even says, My insides quaked at the injustice of it. Freedom is also a theme in the fable because the story is about an animal born into a cage, and this animal has never experienced freedom. In fact, the animal saw above and about him confining walls, and before him were bars of iron. The theme of freedom is present through the voice of the narrator, Corey Mackenson, in Boy s Life. The theme is immediately developed through the use of onomatopoeia and repetition of paragraphs 1, 3, and 6 saying, Tick...tick...tick. The narrator takes on the attitude of an average school boy on the last day of school. He s dying to begin his summer adventures where he and his friends are free from the burdens created by school. • 7. The Film Hamlet By William Shakespeare The film Hamlet by William Shakespeare was made by two directors in two different versions which one was Kenneth Branagh and the other Franco Zeffirelli. By watching the four scenes of the play of the two versions, the viewer has come up to the conclusion that Kenneth Branagh s version best captures the essence of the play in terms of costume design, acting, directing, and cinematography. The directing and cinematography in Act IV, Scene V the Ophelia Madness Scene as well as the acting, costume design in Act V, Scene II the Final Scene showed that Branagh s version of the film Hamlet is the most effective. Branagh s use of directing in Act IV, Scene V in the Ophelia Madness Scene helped best to present the scene in a most effective way. Ophelia has gone mad due to her father s loss, people have been suspicious and disturbed by the death as well. Laertes who is Ophelia s sister has come back from France with a mob of commoners who they call Laertes lord and people say that Laertes shall become king. He enters the hall with an eager ready to avenge his father s death, Claudius the king tries to calm him down by acknowledging that Polonius is dead. I will be using a method similar to titration but I will be using a syringe instead of a burette. Vitamin C Vitamin C also known as ascorbic acid is needed for growth and maintenance of healthy tissues, especially skin, blood vessels, bones, gums, teeth. Vitamin C aids in resistance against infection and healing of wounds. It also helps the body absorb iron from food. Vitamin C can be found in green vegetables, potatoes, tomatoes and citrus fruits such as oranges and lemon. A lack of vitamin C can cause scurvy, iron deficiency and poor wound healing. A healthy diet ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My dependant variable is the amount of Vitamin C in each fruit juice. I will observe the solution when it is decolourizing. I will use the same volume of DCPIP solution for each fruit juice so that the results are accurate and valid. I will use the results from this experiment to work out how much vitamin C the fruit juices contain. Preliminary Test In the preliminary test I used 3cm3 of DCPIP solution. A large amount of juice was needed to change the colour of the DCPIP to colourless. I changed the amount of DCPIP solution from 3cm3 to 1cm3. This is because less juice will be needed to change 1cm3 of DCPIP from blue to colourless. I used test tubes to hold the DCPIP and the 1% ascorbic acid but it was difficult to mix the two solutions together so I decided to use a boiling tube instead. I tested the 1% ascorbic acid in the preliminary test and I found that I need less than 3cm3 of the solution. Equipment 12x Boiling tube 2x Test tube rack 1% DCPIP solution (1cm3 x15) 4x 5ml syringe 1% ascorbic acid (3cm3 x3) Pineapple juice (30cm3 x3) Orange Juice (30cm3 x3) Lemon juice (30cm3 x3) The boiling tubes will be used to hold the juice and the 1 % DCPIP solution. In the paper Steganographic Schemes for File System and B Tree [3], they have introduced StegFD, a practical scheme to implement a steganographic file system in which a plausible deniability to owners of protected files is offered. StegFD hides the selected files in a file system securely in such a way that, an attacker will not be able to trace their existence, even if the attacker has full knowledge of the hardware and software and data structures of the file system .They have also proposed two schemes for implementing Steganographic B trees in a StegFD volume. In paper A Multi User Steganographic File System on Untrusted Shared Storage [4] the threat to steganographic file systems (StegFS) is described which arises when the storage system is untrusted and is shared by multiple users. Many people who work as garbage men cannot understand one persons language, or way of speaking. Using slang as a language is easier for all of the workers to communicate as a group. In addition to making it easier to communicate there are also several other reasons why New York workers use slang terms. First of all, the garbage men are working in the hot summer. Equilibrium Of I-Point Object Essay Equilibrium of à Point Object Background Aim Our aim in this experiment is to determine the magnitude of an unknown force by using two known masses on force table. Variables Independent: Magnitude of two known masses Dependent: Angle between two known masses Control: Unknown force Acceleration of gravity (9.81 m/s2) (Pearson Physics) Hypothesis Q, the angle between two known masses is directly proportional with the of two known masses. Theory We have already stated in our aim that we are trying to find an unknown mass by using two known masses. For our force table to stay constant, it has to be at equilibrium. • 14. Tsar Nicholas s The Great War Introduction Tsar Nicholas II s reign was turbulent, seeing wars, revolutions, and a general sense of displeasure from the people and the government. Intellectuals were no longer content with living under an autocracy and believed that the Russian government was archaic and inefficient. Peasants spoke out against their poor living and working conditions. By 1917, Nicholas reign was over and the Romanov family was no longer in power. One of the leading causes of the Romanov downfall was Nicholas himself. Although the situation in which he inherited the throne were not ideal, his character and method of dealing with state affairs did not help. His personality affected his leadership style, making his leadership style an unpopular one. Even his most trusted advisors and friends came second to Nicholas desire to uphold autocracy in Russia. The influence of Pyotr Stolypin and Sergei Witte, two of Nicholas senior officials, faded as Nicholas thought they hindered his supreme autocracy. Nicholas character was also evident in the Great War. His many stubborn decisions, despite being constantly advised against them, caused Russia much grief during and after the war. Nicholas wife Alexandra influenced many of these decisions and other decisions on state affairs. Nicholas personality allowed Alexandra to have a large impact on his reign. This further gave Grigori Rasputin a large political presence in Russia as well. Nicholas s personality was one of the factors that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I went through the course syllabus and I chose skills that I thought were important for me to know better as well as important to my future career as a teacher. Two skills that I did not list that I wanted to work on were comparing and contrasting. Comparing and contrasting are two skills that I thought I was quite good at and had no problems with. When it came to do the Written Assignment #2 Compare and Contrast Essay, I found out that I was mistaken in my assumption. I struggled and had to obtain help from the professor on what there was to compare and contrast between the two documents the essay was about. After the professor helped and guided me, I was able to learn how to properly compare the similarities and contrast the differences between two different documents. I chose to post my first written assignment as my signature assignment on my personal eportfolio because I am proud of how it turned out and I feel it was the assignment I learned the most from. I didn t just learn to compare and contrast, I learned to interpret old documentation and references, I learned that the same time frame in history, for example, the immigration period that the assignment covered, can have two very different perspectives. The paper I wrote had both strength and weaknesses. The strengths were, I did a good job at finding thing to compare and contrast, but ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 18. Creative Writing In Avatar Every writer has a beginning. This is the story of how I started out writing. It all started when I was 16 when I went to the cinema to view James Cameron s comeback film Avatar. It was late 2009 when the film had just come out in the middle of December. It was Cameron s comeback after a 12 year hiatus after the roaring success of Titanic in 1997 which won him numerous Oscars. Needless to say, I loved it. The film was beautiful. I had never experienced a film where I would feel for the characters. Yeah, that is a long time for a filmmaker to be on hiatus. Though, he was able to pull it off. Similar to when he took a long hiatus between The Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgement Day. Good things come to those who wait. Unknown Avatar inspired me to begin writing fan fiction and the writing bug just took hold. The bug continued all throughout my two senior years of high school (that s years 11 and 12 in Australia). I still write fanfiction from time to time. However, I haven t published anything in ages. After high school, I went to film school and couldn t quite find where my niche laid. I wasn t an expert with cameras and I was awful at anything else. When the second trimester rolled around, relief flooded me when I discovered that one of the classes was screenwriting. It was writing. Something that I was familiar with, even if I had never written in that particular format before. Although that eruption was very similar to the 1980 eruption of Saint Helens, it was also very different. The two Stratovolcanoes, Mt. Vesuvius and St. Helens, have many traits in common. For example, when these two volcanoes erupted, they both made a huge ash cloud. This concert was filled with amazing musicians, intricate solos, and thick harmonies. There were three jazz combos and one guitar ensemble; the first set was the guitar ensemble, which contained four guitarists and one bass player. The ensemble consisted of four songs: Swing It, a swing style song; Samba #1 ; A Child is Born, a waltz; and Bill s Bay. The main theme of Bill s Bay was very catchy and memorable, and the ensemble s most impressive player to me was Michael Galanti on the bass guitar. His solos involved precise pizzicato and quick movement that I have never witnessed in a bass player. Next, the series of jazz combos began, and a younger group of UAB students started to play. Their first song was The Preacher by Horace Silver, and this song was the only song with lyrics. The singer was nearly impossible to hear because she was singing in piano while the other group members were playing in fortissimo. Also, I was startled by how loud the brass instruments sounded in the concert hall; however, this is due to the trumpet being a haut instrument. Then, another combo began playing, and this combo was under the guidance of Carlos Pino. The group brought more energy and more skill, and this is shown ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Differences in the Relationship between Facts and Theories: Math and History Theories have been defines as integrated set of concepts formed into propositions that explain different phenomena or events (Schneider 2), while facts as thing that is undisputed as the case or corresponds to the truth (Mellor 110). Both facts and theories are used to generate knowledge that can be applied in verse situations. However, the relationship between facts and theories differs between different areas of knowledge and there is no universal law dictating it, with some areas such as math having the theories precede the facts, while other areas such as history having the facts precede the theories. This paper will discuss the differences in the relationship of facts and theories of math and history using calculus and World War II respectively. First argument The first argument analyses math and the notion that theories precede the facts in this field. This argument uses calculus as a real life situation. Calculus is a branch of mathematics involved with the calculation of varying quantities (Rohde et al. 1). It is considered significant because it provides principles required to calculate quantities that cannot be calculated using other mathematical concepts such as algebra or geometry (Rohde et al. 1; and Ledder 5 ). Most of its concepts apply deductive thinking making it one of the most applied mathematical concepts in real life situations. Like most mathematical branches calculus is ... She noticed an unusually bright orange light, which she at first thought it was a street light beaming through a starless Selma sky. She soon realized it was instead her car, engulfed in radiant flames. One of the only items she owned was being taken from her, and she could do nothing about it. She sat in awe and disbelief, a moment of euphoria that would set her life on an unexpected journey. Until that point, Alexander had lived her life as a rebel, a badge she wore proudly after years of internal turmoil. She spent time in foster care as a child, since her diabetic mother was in and out of the hospital and could not always care for her three children. While there, Alexander was sexually abused by older girls in the system. In school, she was bullied. All of these environmental elements led to creating Alexander s tough girl persona as a child. I was a fighter. I would fight you, it didn t matter who you were, because I got picked on so much that it became my defense, Alexander said. Alexander, now 24, has been arrested once for every year of her life. The majority of the arrests occurred when she was a juvenile, and most were for disorderly conduct. • 29. Trigger Warning Trigger warnings and the underlying issue In the essay The Coddling of the American Mind , Greg Lukianoff and Jonathan Haidt argue trigger warnings are hindering the learning experience in college. While this is true it goes farther than just that, there is an epidemic of a certain mentality spreading across the United States. This mentality is that everyone is deserving of content warnings, whether it be graphic, on paper, or ideas in a discussion everywhere they go. This is a terrible mentality to have, because it breeds an underlying issue. The issue at hand is a psychological issue that can be treated over time. The issue s severity depends on what the person wants a trigger warning for. In the extreme cases, there are completely unreasonable demands for warnings because it could be too common, there would be too many warnings, while in other cases it is more reasonable but still should not become the norm of society. If trigger warnings become the norm for the world it would cause harm to individuals minds and society. To begin with, what is a trigger warning or content warning? Both trigger warnings and content warnings can be used in place of one another because they stand for the same thing. A trigger warning is a warning that means there is a topic or idea that will be discussed or shown visually that could cause stress to some people. These can range from reasonable topics such as rape, abuse, or death. Those topics rarely come up in day to day conversations and contain some of the worst acts a human can do, and it is reasonable to offer trigger warnings for these topics. It is not acceptable, however, to require these warnings on everyone that talks about these topics. On the other extreme some people could claim to have been offended at ordinary topics that show up in daily conversation. A short story in Greg Lukianoff and Jonathan Haidt s paper was about a professor, Francis Schmidt, that had received a suspension from a harmless action. This action was that he posted a picture of his daughter on Facebook, who happened to be wearing a shirt with a Game of Thrones quote. It dates back all the way to the Ancient Egyptians and Ancient Greeks. Asbestos is a natural occurring mineral made up of six sets of fibrous mineral: chrysotile, crocidolite, amosite, anthophyllite, tremolite and actinolite. Asbestos is a compound that is very versatile. In the 1800s, during the Industrial Revolution, asbestos was being widely used throughout companies for various reasons. Companies like Ford Motor Company, General Electric, General Motors, and Mobil Oil Corporation were all companies using asbestos in their products. Companies used this fibrous mineral as a insular in houses, schools, steam engines, fire proof ocean vessels, and even in the brakes of automobiles. • 34. The Meaning Of Globalization And Sustainable Development In this paper, I aim to present conceptually the meaning of globalization and sustainable development. The purpose of this paper is to utilize the three pillars of sustainable development (economy, society and environment) to explain the significance of sustainable development as an approach in a globalized world. A critical literature review on the multidisciplinary literature from the first four weeks of this unit is thoroughly studied in order to get a clear understating of the existing issues, tensions and synergies regarding globalization and sustainable development. Moreover, underlying the fact that there s conflict between ecological balances and increasing demand for economic growth (Byrne Glover, 2002), this paper also highlights the ways in which globalization can be sustained. Literature on Globalization and Sustainable Development Contemporary literature reveals that globalization continues to gain widespread popularity in the political and business world (Yeung, 2015) because of its ability to encompass the diverse set of economic, political and cultural processes (Kelly, 1999). Despite of its popularity, the literature on globalization remains highly ambiguous and chaotic (Jessop 1999, as cited in Yeung 2015). As (Byrne Glover, 2002) suggest that meaning of globalization differ from scholars to scholars, to one analyst, it may present a way to promote economic growth and cultural exchange (Bryan Farrell, 1996; Thurow, 1999, as cited in Byrne Glover, ... • 37. How Does Climate Change Affect Agriculture Will Climate Change Affect Agriculture? Climate change otherwise known as global warming has been an ongoing issue for decades. Beginning in the 19th century, climate change has increasingly affected Earth and its atmosphere. Rising levels of carbon dioxide are warming the Earth s atmosphere, causing rising sea levels, melting snow and ice, extreme fires and droughts, and intense rainfall and floods. Climate change has and will continue to affect food production, availability of water, and can add to many health risks in humans and animals. In fact, in an article by Justin Gillis titled, Scientists Warn of Perilous Climate Shift Within Decades, Not Centuries he focuses on a paper written by a former NASA climate scientist, James E. Hansen, explaining the effects of climate change on Earth today. Although many believe Hansen s theories in the paper are quite far fetched, the author mentions, Despite any reservations they might have about the new paper, virtually all climate scientists agree with Dr. Hansen s group that society is not moving fast enough to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases, posing grave risks (Gillis). Gillis validates the fact that climate change has been rapidly expanding throughout Earth and society has not been able to reduce it fast enough. Many negative risks are being posed and will continue to mount if the issue of climate change is not taken seriously. Although climate change negatively affects nearly all aspects of Earth, it poses a big ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. The Inertial Navigation System ( Ins ) The inertial navigation system (INS) is a highly complex device which utilises very sensitive sensors to generate movement information and a computer to develop an algorithm of motion over time. The INS can be described as very sophisticated dread reckoning. The sensors which are used in an INS are accelerometers and gyroscopes which are further linked to a computer. The main consideration is that these highly sensitive and advanced sensors used in an INS still have errors from accuracy limitations in units of basic design or original outdated concepts. The accuracy can be improved with more complex and updated integration which includes the use of the better and more advanced components. To understand the errors associated with INS, a closer look into the flow of information is essential. The north facing accelerometer is mounted to a platform which is supported by gyroscopes. Any accelerations detected are given to the first stage integrator which uses the time component to develop velocity data. The second integrator uses the velocity data and time to calculate the distance travelled which is then added to the present position to generate a new present position. The system uses a backwards feedback loop of velocity data to the gyroscopes to make accelerometer platform perpendicular to the local gravity vector. This model is used for both north facing and east facing platforms and combined with the secant multiplier. The basic system designs would carry a greater error but ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
