The New Science Of Winning Book
In the New Science of Winning book, (Davenport Harris, 2007, p.7) analytics is defined as the
extensive use of data, statistical and quantitative analysis, explanatory and predictive models, and fact
based management to drive decisions and actions. [1]. To be successful in today s competition, my
current employer, DLL Financial Solutions Partner (DLL), is competing on analytics and fully aligned
its core strategies to be supported by extensive statistical and computer based decisions. DLL is a
global financial services company with operation in 36 countries, and its main focus is in the
commercial equipment finance sector. In the following paragraph, I will explain DLL s position in the
industry and its ability to successfully compete on analytics with regards to its core business functions.
In the organizational layer, DLL has a global business intelligence and global analytics team. The
business intelligence team s focus is data warehousing, dashboard designing and providing real time
data companywide for all the countries, which can be queried via SQL or Hyperion. Given that data
often needs clean up and analysis to better understand its trends, the business intelligence team has
created a Virtual Reporting Tool which is accessible by all members of the company and is meant to
be the only source of the truth. This tool provides live reports and dashboards which are used for
monitoring purposes and for analysis. On the other hand, the global analytics team s focus is

My Writing As A Student Entering My English Course
As a student entering my English course for the term I can admit I was a little anxious about the work
I would be doing and the difficulty I would have due to the fact I knew my writing was far from
perfect. Throughout the class I did see progress, but I still struggled with the writing process with my
narrative draft and revision as well as my persuasive draft and revision. I used text resources available,
but that still did not give me a complete understanding not at least until I used video resources as well.
By looking at instructional videos provided on YouTube and other sites gave me a more visual
understanding which I can say it has helped quite well. A Challenge the writing process has been for
me, I would write ideas I had during my pre writing and that was all, but I did not build on my idea. I
went from an idea to a draft and that was not the proper way to go about with my writing process.
With innumerable Resources available it has helped me in my writing more than I thought it would
because if I needed an example of what to do, I had text and video resources for that, video resources
helped me to understand even more how to write correctly on my essays, writing tools and many more
great resources. Using time management for my writing was very useful as well my research, pre
writing and drafting stage should have took up most of the time, therefore after editing and revision
then would be a breeze. Everyone has their own way of writing and not everyone

The Three Plays Of The Oresteia
Throughout the three plays of the Oresteia, justice takes many different shapes and forms as various
characters attempt to justify their otherwise morally questionable actions. In particular, the Oresteia
portrays a transformation from an older, more primitive form of justice, to a new concept of civil
justice devised by Athena. Aeschylus emphasizes this contrast between the old and new orders, and
the differing philosophies of both with the older justice of the Furies and Clytemnestra taking on a
more individual connotation, while that of Athena and the new gods is formed around the community.
As such, while Clytemnestra carries out her justice primarily based upon her own judgement of right
and wrong, justice at the end of the Eumenides is ultimately delivered based on the convictions and
beliefs of a collective community of jury members.
The primary source of contention in the Oresteia stems from Agamemnon s sacrifice of Iphigenia, in
turn fueling Clytemnestra s murder of Agamemnon during the events in Agamemnon which itself
leads to Orestes murder of Clytemnestra and Aegisthus. However, since Agamemnon and Orestes
were significantly and directly influenced by Artemis and Apollo, respectively, they ultimately did not
have much of an option in carrying out their actions. In contrast, Clytemnestra had little to no
influence at all from any god, and thus acted solely based on her own sense of justice in murdering
Agamemnon. Even moreso that that, Clytemnestra had the all

Law School Admission Essay
Summers out schools back in
It s nice to have a break from school; I feel it is a little reward from the hard work all year. From
waking up early, staying up late finishing papers, and most importantly, from all the energy drinks and
coffee you picked up on the way to class to stay awake. But you know what they say: Nothing good
ever comes easy. I m anxious to graduate.
I m currently in school for business and marketing. I went for this because well I feel you can t go
wrong there. I got out of high school, and I couldn t make up my mind so I went for it. I thought about
interior design or detective work; I even considered the psychology route. But I m glad I didn t. Turns
out, I love what I chose, and I can t imagine studying something else.
During the summer I made the decision to finish what I started, but this December, I will be taking the
LSAT: the Law School Admission Test. For those who are not familiar, it s part of the law school
admission process here in the U.S. You re probably wondering, She wants to be a lawyer? No, not
exactly. I just feel you can benefit so much from a law degree! SO in preparation for my LSAT, I

Advantages And Disadvantages Of E-Textbooks
STUDENT AND TEACHERS PERCEPTIONS OF E TEXTBOOKS AND E READERS NEW
WAYS TO LEARN?
In this age of information technology, the traditional notion of literacy , which is understood as the
ability to read and write is far from sufficient. In order to adequately characterize literacy in the 21st
century, the definition has to capture the relationship between literacy and new technologies.
Information and skills are indispensable concepts in the characterization of literacy in a knowledge
based society. Digital literacy is concerned with the ability to understand information , and to evaluate
and integrate information in multiple formats that the computer can deliver (Gilster, in Pool 1997).
The emergence of e book technology and its related ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The success of a web enhanced experience will require professors to learn new skills in order to
effectively interact with students. Sun et al. (2012) suggest that the positive impact of e textbooks is
directly related to the incorporation of features in the learning process.
Academics are still challenged by to efficiently measure technology s influence on higher education
learning. Many articles discuss the advantages and disadvantages of e textbooks and agree that the
current letter grading system may not be the best way to reward performance in this new environment.
O Donnell and Sharp (2012) highlighted in their survey that students think technology delivers greater
performance and is better for preparation at the masters level compared to traditional methods, see
also (O Donnell, 2008).
In conclusion, students using print books not all students have a difficult time connecting with the

What Is An Example Of Cognitive Dissonance Theory
Cognitive Dissonance Theory, or CDT for short, is an objective communication theory that was
developed by Leon Festinger. Cognitive Dissonance is defined as The distressing mental state caused
by inconsistency between a person s two beliefs or a belief and an action. (Griffin, Ledbetter, et al).
An example of cognitive dissonance would be a health conscious smoker, this person knows that
smoking is bad for them, but they still smoke because they enjoy it. Their desire to be healthy
conflicts with their smoking, this conflict places them in a distressing mental state, a state of cognitive
dissonance. Festinger provides three hypotheses for CDT: 1.) Selective exposure prevents dissonance.
2.) Post decision dissonance creates need for reassurance. and 3.) Minimal justification for action
induces attitude change.

Forced Labor And Human Trafficking
Forced labor and human trafficking are some of the forms of slavery in the modern day. Although the
world has made several strides in ending human trafficking, several factors have played a big role in
ensuring that trafficking is still carried on. The ILO describes forced labor as the work and services
offered by a person unwillingly; on the other hand human trafficking is the transport and recruitment
of people through coercion with the aim of exploiting them. The continual practice of human
trafficking is attributed to certain factors such as poverty and greed. According to ILO, the profits
generated from forced labor amount to 150 billion dollars. These profits are made from the private
sector especially from illegal businesses such as sexual exploitation, domestic work and other
economic exploitations (Johnson 4). Poverty is also another factor that has caused the human
trafficking business thrive, human trafficking often originate from developing countries such as those
in Asia, Africa, Latin America. Their destination, on the other hand, is always to the developed
countries in Europe, America, and parts of western Africa.
Although human trafficking and forced labor are some of the global challenges, poverty has played a
big role in increasing the vice. The desire by the victims to move to areas where they can improve the
living standards of their families has played a big role in increased rates of human trafficking. Most
traffickers target these victims by promising

Conkin The Traditional Family Farm Book Review
Over the last 90 years the American farming industry has changed drastically in terms of farming
techniques, advanced machinery, government farming policies, and chemical inputs. These
developments have revolutionized the agriculture industry but every adjustment can bring about both
positive and negative ramifications. Author and historian Paul K. Conkin gives a detailed account of
the transformative years of early American farm life spanning from the early 20th century into the 21st
century when increasing food prices rocked the nation and the early farm laborers struggled to keep up
with the changing industry demands. Farmers faced hardships during The Great Depression which
then fueled necessary changes in legislation that secured a farmer s ... Show more content on

Automobiles also gained popularity and traveling for supplies, medical care, or bartering became a
normal task. Going into town was once a necessity every so often became a privilege to those that
could afford the luxury of an automobile in place of horses. The transition from the traditional
household farm to a more modernized farm to keep up with the times was a drastic adjustment and the
changes could be felt across the nation. In Conkin s own words Unbeknownst to us at the time, much
what we took for granted would quickly become antiquated. Soon there would be no horses, or none
of the tools and skills that accompanied horse based agriculture. Soon it would become clear that our
farming community did not have the soil quality or the economies of scale to compete in commercial
agriculture.

Organismal Biology
Organismal biology is the study of structure, function, ecology, and evolution at the level of the
organism. An understanding of the biology of animals and plants allows for a better prediction of
impacts on these organisms from human activity. Having a biological understanding of these
organisms also allows for better conservation practices. Organismal biology will allow me to have in
depth knowledge of species behavior, physiology, and evolutionary history, which is essential
information when making management and conservation plans for specific species. Understanding the
genetic structure and background, and evolutionary history of species and populations allows for a
better understanding of patterns of dispersal, and allows predictions to be made about how species will
react to future environmental threats such as climate change.

Tire Faults
When doing a pre trip inspection on his commercial or owner operator truck, the truck driver can fall
into a routine where he quickly glances at the usual areas on his tires that he habitually checks while
not noticing other areas. For example, some drivers only look at the tread while failing to look closely
at the sidewalls for signs of bulges or bubbles. This is a mistake because this kind of tire damage is a
blowout waiting to happen. In no uncertain terms, it is not safe to drive with tire bulges or bubbles.
Change the tire on the spot if you can, otherwise get it repaired at the nearest facility.

But if he s paying attention, then he s aware of you because he can see the lower part of your truck and
trailer through his mirrors. This means you must exercise great care when passing a car on a multilane
road because you can t be sure if the motorist knows you re there.
However, this rule is still effective in a number of situations such as when you have the right of way at
an intersection, and another vehicle that s stopped at the cross road wants to go through the
intersection. If you can t see her face because it s blocked by the A pillar of her car, then she can t see
you. Slow down and be prepared for her to cut you off if she attempts to cross without seeing you.
Yet another application of this rule is at blind intersections. When you have the right of way and you
see the front end of a car jutting out into the intersection, but you can t see the car s windshield
because it s blocked by hedges, parked trucks, or some other obstruction, then the driver can t see you.
Again, you should slow down and proceed with caution. A similar situation is a car pulling out of a
driveway onto a busy highway. Sometimes the driver is backing out, which means he could be making
a kamikaze move because he feels he has no other

Robert Frost had a fascination towards loneliness and...
Robert Frost had a fascination towards loneliness and isolation and thus expressed these ideas in his
poems through metaphors. The majority of the characters in Frost s poems are isolated in one way or
another. In some poems, such as Acquainted with the Night and Mending Wall, the speakers are lonely
and isolated from their societies. On other occasions, Frost suggests that isolation can be avoided by
interaction with other members of society, for example in The Tuft of Flowers, where the poem
changes from a speaker all alone, to realizing that people are all connected in some way or another. In
Robert Frost s poems Acquainted with the Night, Mending Wall, and The Tuft of Flowers, the themes

The speaker refers to the night as his acquaintance. This implies that the speaker has a lot of
experience with the night, but has not become friends with it. Thus, because even the night, which has
been alongside the speaker in comparison to anything or anyone else, is not a companion to the
speaker, the idea of loneliness is enhanced. In addition, rain (2) is used to symbolize the speaker s
feelings of gloom and grief, because there is continuous pouring of the rain, which is unlikely to stop.
In line 3, city light is used to convey the emotional distance between the speaker and society. Although
the speaker has walked extensively, he has not yet interacted with anyone thus distancing himself even
further from society. Moreover, the moon, in lines 11 to 12, is used as a metaphor of the speaker s
feelings. The speaker feels extremely distant from society that he feels unearthly. The idea of isolation
and loneliness in this poem is used as the theme of the poem; and the use of the setting and metaphors
underscores the idea that the speaker feels abandoned from society.
Similar to Acquainted with the Night, isolation is a major theme in Mending Wall. In Mending Wall,
there are two characters: the speaker and the neighbor. The two characters have two different opinions
on what make a good neighbor. The neighbor views walls as a crucial object in

Do the Right Thing is a 1989 film by Spike Lee. According to Entertainment Weekly, it is one of the
25 most controversial films ever. It was deemed culturally significant by the Library of Congress in
1999, and then placed in the National Film Registry. The story follows the lives of citizens of the
Bedford Stuyvesant District in New York City, on the hottest day of the summer, and what they do to
cope with the heat. To summarize the entire plot it ends in a riot. I d like to analyze some of the
situations found in the movie, and discuss how, if at all, it related to race relations in America. When
watching the film, I wasn t overly interested in the plot. Nothing interesting happened (until the end of
the movie) and there was nothing that made me (as a viewer) intrigued to continue watching. What I
found important, however, was the character portrayals in the movie, and this is what kept me
watching. I m not sure what Lee wanted from this movie, because to me, it seemed as if he was being
a) overtly racist towards non African Americans, and b) stereotypical of his own race. Throughout the
movie I was astounded by the portrayal of the black characters in this movie. Specifically, Buggin Out
s character. While I realize that the character s name is a direct reference to his personality, I think Lee
went a bit too far. For example, when the white cyclist accidentally scuffed his

Diesel Engine Research Paper
The diesel (internal combustion) engine has been a major source of power for transportation vehicles
and industrial uses. The Australian railways have utilised diesel engines for regional and freight
purposes since the early 1950 s. Despite the extensive history of the diesel engine, the efficiency of the
modern internal combustion process ranges between 35% 42%.[1] The losses in energy arise from
heat losses and mechanical losses as illustrated in Fig 1.
Figure 1. Schematic of conventional vehicle system model. Only a small percentage of energy is
converted into useful work to power the wheels and other accessory loads.[2]
Figure 1 indicates that a significant amount of energy is lost from the exhaust and coolant systems.
Exhaust temperatures generally range between 400 900°C depending on the application. This presents
a significant opportunity to recover the heat losses from the exhaust to reduce the fuel consumption. In
addition to the advantage gained from the improved fuel consumption, there are other benefits such as
reducing exhaust emissions and increased engine power.
To effectively capture the energy lost from a diesel engine exhaust pressures, the turbocharger was

Jean Pierre Corteggiani From The French Institute Of...
Jean Pierre Corteggiani from the French Institute of Oriental Archeology states that the Nile is
therefore life itself to Egypt. He said that the eastern part of the desert of Sahara would be nothing
without the water supplied by the Nile river. Water was life at the time of the ancient Egyptian
civilization. The source of life of this river comes from the mountains of Ethiopia, 2,000 kilometers
from the Delta. However, between the months of June to September when is storm season, the Nile
river overflows becoming a sea converting nearby cities into islands. Therefore, Egyptians tried to
keep a record of the Nile s first signs of overflow by building Nilometers to measure increases in the
water level. It took 10 years to control the annual overflowing. A thought of that time was that gods
spread blessings all over the river, since the banks of this river gave the pass to agriculture. As new
techniques were developed, so the ancient Egyptian civilization production increased as well.
Nonetheless, the Nile river became the natural route for traders. On the golden age of ancient
Egyptians, pharaohs ruled over those lands. Pharaohs were seen as a god. Touching a pharaoh could
have been punished with the death, since they were sacred. Under their commands, gigantic pyramids
were constructed. However, the logic of the edification of those pyramids and their builders are still a
mystery. All that is known is that the construction of the mausoleum required high technical

Immigrant (1903), Lee Chew reveals some key points about Chinese prejudice against American he
states that the prejudice is unfounded and how he did not believe in the wild tales about the Americans
being wicked wizards and men of evil minds but in looking at what Chew had to endure after
emigrating from China. Chew had stated that he went from laundering clothes, to the railroad, to
mining and how many of the miners were wild men who carried revolvers and after drinking would

A Common Technique Used By John Updike
A common technique used by authors throughout literature is the growth of the main character into
their own. From the maturation of a selfish soul into a triumphant hero, or the rise of a shunned
underdog into a loved champion, authors have create situations for their characters that teach readers a
significant life lesson about the world we live in. For example, John Updike s Sammy from A P and
Flannery O Connor s Grandmother from A Good Man is Hard to Find both receive wake up calls from
the respective antagonists of their stories. They are put in high stress situations where their morals and
beliefs are pushed to the limit. Both O Connor and Updike utilized the high stress situations to make
the reader question their own beliefs; therefore, causing the readers to empathize with the main
characters. Sammy and the Grandmother experience unique situations that force them to question their
way of thinking; however, those lessons are not restricted to them, but also lessons everyone has to
learn. John Updike does a great job of creating a character in Sammy that young boys are able to
relate to, and then making him mature due to a shocking realization about the real world. Like most
teenage boys, he is sarcastic and opinionated, but Sammy sets himself apart by being oddly observant.
The mundane routine of his boring bag boy job is turned upside down when the three girls around his
age walk in. He immediately takes notice and starts to pick apart every detail about the trio.

A report on how current provision and practice is...
Each one of the early years educators has played an important role in setting the foundations that is the
basis of the main curriculum s and foundation frameworks in schools today. Maria Montessori
believed in independence in nurseries and that children should be taught to use their senses first rather
than just educating their intellect with subjects such as maths and science. These of course came later
in the children s education but the main focus within her nurseries was to develop observational skills
through the environment and learning outdoors, and to provide the children with carefully organised
preparatory activities rather than repetition as a means of developing competence in skills. Montessori
believed children should be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These are very much practical based activities and many are still carried on in schools today such as
learning to play an instrument. This is seen as an important activity for children in the early years and
lessons and clubs for this are seen as mainstream activities. Steiner believed that education should be
designed to suit the changing needs of a child as they develop mentally, physically and emotionally.
This can be seen in the current practices and provisions as there are different levels and stages of
which a child can progress through at their own pace, such as the stepping stones in the birth to three
matters and foundation stage curriculum. Each individual child is encouraged within their own
abilities to progress with their education and onto the next levels of development and learning within
today s practices, and Steiner s approach has therefore been influential on many areas of the early year
s education. His ideas on allowing children to be taught by the same teacher for up to seven years have
been adopted in some ways by secondary schools as a class is given the same form tutor for up to five
years and then another for two years if they progress to higher education. He believed this was an
effective way of giving children stability within schools, and the tutors would almost be like main
carers for the children until they left school.

Ladies Of Leadership And Feminism
I joined Ladies of Leadership because I wanted to build relationships with other women of color. As
an out of state freshman from Georgia, one of my biggest worries was making friends. Ladies of
Leadership allowed me to surround myself with a diverse group of women who provided a positive
environment and space. As cliche as it sounds I found a home away from home .
I am also interested in social justice. Specifically, inclusion of women of color in mainstream
feminism. This topic is important to me because as a woman of color I have found it difficult to have
my voice heard in the discussion of feminism. I know this struggle of feeling your voice going
unheard is not just an issue for me, but for most if not all women of color regarding feminism. ...

The Abdication of Tsar Nicholas II was a Turning Point for...
To what extent was the abdication of Tsar Nicholas II the key turning point in Russia s political
development 1856 1964?
From 1856 onwards the aim of turning Russia from a once agrarian, illiterate and backwards country
and into a political superpower was set. A multitude of developments began with Nicholas II being a
catalyst of change for the Russian people. Writers of Marxist Russia such as Joan Hasler1 however
believe that the Tsars abdication merely prevented revolution happening for a few years. The
significance of his abdication caused demands for a new and improved governmental structure to be in
place in order to get Russia back on its feet after the devastating defeat in world war one. New
political developments took place after the abdication of the Tsar including a new improved Duma
who quickly realised they had little trust and loyalty to the tsar and decided to take it upon themselves
to improves Russia on their own. Nearing the end of the Romanov dynasty there were 3 new political
groups aiming to rule Russia, the duma, the Bolsheviks and the soviets which alone gives us
significant evidence that the Tsars reign and abdication created a significant turning point in the
political development 1856 1964.
Nicholas abdication on March 2nd 1917 sparked the point of political change for Russia. The majority
of these changes began as a result of opposition towards his inability to reign as an effective ruler.
After his abdication his brother refused the throne

A Worn Path By Eudora Welty Analysis
A Worn Path Eudora Welty
This story is about perseverance no matter how hard things may be. A worn path is a story about an
African American woman, Mrs. Jackson, who makes a hard trip into town to get medication for her
sick grandson. This story is very relatable for me personally because I have always had to dig deep
and push though tough situations to achieve my goals. Mrs. Jackson s main goal was to get medication
for her grandson to make him healthy again. This story shows that is you care about someone or
something enough then you will do anything for them. Mrs. Jackson reminds me a lot of my Nana
because she is a strong woman that would literally do anything for me. She has taught me that life is
about enjoying the little things in life, like the paper windmill. Phoenix Jackson didn t have the cream
of the crop, but she did her best to provide for her family. For most people in the world today things
are very easy, but that doesn t mean that the struggles are not real for others.

Watching A Disappearing Number in Theater Essay examples
Choose one production that you have seen and which you particularly enjoyed and discuss the aspects
which made it so successful.
A Disappearing Number
I went to see a Disappearing Number, in the Theater. The production was performed by Complicite
and was directed by Simon McBurney. I really enjoyed this performance. I thought that the mixture of
maths and romance as well as the structure of the performance by incorporating the past and the
present together, was extremely successful.
The most successful aspect of the performance for me were the scene changes. I found that the
rotation of the blackboard, center stage, where the actors were able to stoop beneath it in order to enter
and exit the stage, was an effective touch to this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another really effective aspect to the performance was the use of technology, including sound effects,
projections, pod casts and voice overs. The scene which stood out most for me, concerning technology
would be the scene where Al is trapped in the lecture theatre. Here, he begins to look through Ruth?s
belongings of books, papers and passports. While he is doing this, actions too small to be seen from
the audience, a live streaming is being projected up onto the whiteboard behind to show us, as the
audience, what he is looking at. Al starts to read a page from a book which has been marked down and
as he starts to read a voice over starts reading the same words, quietly at first and as that gradually
builds up in volume, Al?s voice decreases in volume till its just the voice over reading out the words
from the book. This is one of the first links to the past, a key theme in the performance, as the voice
over is the voice of G H Hardy, the great mathematician reading from his own book.
We were introduced to the performance by the character Ruth giving a maths lecture, simple at first
but then getting extremely difficult to follow, going off on a tangent, using mathematical terminology
I had never even heard of. This maths theme carried on throughout the whole performance, making it,
from my point of view, the strongest link from the present to the past, as Ruth was wanting to follow
in the footsteps of Ramanujan and Hardy.
One of the scenes which had the

Atomic Mass Lab
Hypothesis: For each element, we believe that its mass and atomic number have a positive linear
relationship. We can expect that as the atomic mass increases, the mass of the gas will increase as
well.
Discussion:
Through this experiment, we were look for a relationship between a gas atomic mass and its mass. In
doing so, we were paying very close attention to two other central ideas of chemistry: accuracy and
precision. Accuracy is how close a measured value is to the actual true value, while precision is how
close the measured values are to each other. The most appropriate calculation for testing accuracy is %
Error. Through this calculation, you are actually comparing your value to the literature value, or those
values found in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Through the collection of data and the performed calculations, we found that our results lacked
accuracy, but had precise. Because we were not conducting the experiment in an advanced lab, there
were only a few variables we could really control: the actual volume of the gas sample (50mL), the
room temperature, the atmospheric pressure, and use of the same balance. For our chemistry lab at St.
Ambrose, we know that we are not in a completely controlled environment so, we can accept % Error
if it is lower than 10%. In our experiment, as shown in Table 1, we had % Errors ranging from 11.0%
to 21.6%, so not accurate readings by any means. Same as % Error, the % Relative Deviation also
cannot exceed 10%, otherwise it is deemed as not precise. In our calculations, % Relative Deviation
ranged from 2% to 56%. In our recordings, we had four of six elements/compounds that would qualify
as precise and those were Nitrogen, Oxygen, Argon, and Carbon Dioxide. For each of these elements,
they were not accurate; however, the results calculated in lab were precise. This goes to show the
independent relationship between accuracy and precision. Unfortunately, we were unable to collect an
ideal set of data that showed both accuracy and

Life And Death In Donald Barthelme s The School
Donald Barthelme s story, The School, takes on an untraditional way of explaining life and the
meaning behind it. Donald Barthelme was an influential writer during the mid 1900 s and was an
especially important part of flash fiction. Many of his stories were very short. His approach at writing
enabled him to highlight his themes in an unusual way. He uses escalation to emphasize the deaths of
plants and herbs going all the way to the death of people. Michael Byers, an assistant professor of
English at the University of Michigan, writes about The School saying, curiosity, love, personal
connection all sources of solace in the face of death, and once that solace arrives, the dead world
returns to life (Byers). I agree with Byers that these things are sources of solace; however, I do not
think Barthelme was trying to imply that after death we return to life. I believe Barthelme was trying
to emphasize the meaning of life when answering the children s question by saying, life is that which
gives meaning to life. He was saying that death is a natural part of human life which exists all around
us. Barthelme emphasized his theme of life by using the escalation of death throughout the story. I
think Barthelme wanted readers to see that life and death are the basis for existence and that one
cannot exist without the other; humor through escalation is brought into effect to create the harsh
contrast of life versus death. As well as using humor and escalation to

The Contribution Of Ludwig Van Beethoven
Abstract Ludwig Van Beethoven was one of the greatest musical composers of his time. Starting very
young in his studies of music, he held many important positions they would develop him into the
composer he became. Born in Bonn, Germany to a singer, he held his first position at the church. He
later moved to Vienna where his composed several pieces, and even an opera. He created a new style
of music, cyclic form.
Background Ludwig van Beethoven (1770 28 March 1827) was one of the greatest art musicians, and
probably had more influence over musical events than any composer, of his time (Charlton, 2016). He
was born in Bonn, Germany to Father Johann van Beethoven, and named after his grandfather,
Ludwig van Beethoven. There is no official record of his birthday, but the church had on file his
baptism on 17 December 1770. Because one of his teacher celebrated his birthday on 16 December,
his birthday is generally accepted to be on this date. He had seven brothers and sister, being one of
three to survive early childhood. Beethoven s Grandfather, Ludwig van Beethoven (1712 1773),
moved to Bonn when he was in his twenties. He was employed as a bass singer to the Elector of
Cologne. In 1761, he became the music director. Ludwig was father to Johann (1740 1792), his only
son. Johann Beethoven was a tenor singer in the same place has his father. Johann gave piano and
violin lessons in his spare time to assist his income. Johann fell in love

Social Workers And The Social Worker Client Relationship
Today s social workers are surrounded by technology, which changes the way social workers and
clinicians practice. Technology helps social workers and clinicians work more efficiently and
effective, as it improves greater productivity, less paperwork, ultimately allowing more time for
clients. With the increase of use in technology, the current NASW Code of Ethics (2008), has created
new standards specifically related to electronic communications, such as email, fax machines,
computers, and electronic records. According to, Getz (2012), research and experience thus far
indicates that mobile application technology has the capability to support the social worker client
relationship . With the increase in technological advances, social workers have the ability to utilize
technological assessment tools in order to assist veterans with psychological issues. Currently, there
are many different websites that social workers or clinicians could use in order to better serve and

Atrial Fibrillation
The heart is a complex yet delicate organ that operates the body on a regular basis. Without the heart
the circulation system within the body would cease to exist; therefore, we would cease to exist. As
with everything that is complex and works around the clock there are certain issues that can arise for
example, atrial fibrillation. Atrial fibrillation is the result of an irregular or fast heartbeat this will often
cause an inadequate circulation throughout the rest of the body. The atrium of the heart will not sync
up to the ventricles causing an irregular or fast heartbeat.
The episodes of atrial fibrillation can come and go or remain permanently and cannot usually be
corrected without surgical intervention. This could be caused by hypertension, ... Show more content

His work led to the evolution of radiofrequency energy catheters, which use radiofrequency energy to
heat the catheter tip and perform a more precise ablation than what was possible with direct current
ablation. (UCSF.(2012). When cardiac ablation is performed the surgeon is targeting the diseased
conductive tissue once this is done, this will assist in correcting atrial fibrillation within the heart.
These surgeries can be either minimally invasive or require an open surgical approach. Cardiac
ablation is achieved through a cardiac catheter this delivers radiofrequency energy or cryoenergy to
the defective area this is considered to be a minimally invasive approach. The electrophysiologist will
insert a catheter into the femoral vein/artery and threads it to the right or left atrium and ventricle.
They will then test different areas of the heart to try and reproduce dysrhythmia upon doing this they
will then ablate the area of the heart where the disturbance takes place. Another alternative would be
an open surgery known as a sternotomy approach this is where a midline incision is made in the
sternum of the chest. Cannulation of the superior and inferior vena cava will then take place for a
cardiopulmonary bypass. The surgeon will occlude the ascending aorta and infuse cardioplegic
solution into the coronary arteries. Once this is done a right and left atriotomy is performed and the
targets are ablated. The atriotomies are closed, the aorta is unclamped, cardiopulmonary bypass is
stopped, cannulas are removed, chest tubes will be inserted at this time and the surgical wound is
closed. Upon completion of the surgery the patient is taken to the PACU and monitored for heart
rhythm issues as well as, bleeding, infection, or any other complications from the procedure. ( Fuller,

Olmec Vs Teotihuacan Culture Analysis
A common element found within the cultures of Mesoamerica was the way they expressed themselves,
primarily in oral modes of expression... and mute texts (Carrasco, 47). This was observed in the

the Teotihuacan culture was from contemporary Mesoamerica there were noticeable similarities and
differences between the two cultures. Evidence of influence and continuity was found linking the
Olmec and Teotihuacan culture. The Olmec and the Teotihuacan are from different time periods but
they share similarities. One similarity is their views of cosmogonies. Richard Diehli author of The

associated with birth, origins, and celestial realms. In Teotihuacan we see caves, pyramids, and
mountains all of which have a kind of god or goddess illustrating birth and origins. Another similarity
found between the Olmec and Teotihuacan were the rituals although each had a distinct form of
religion there were noticeable rituals that were common between the two. Two common rituals found
between the two were sacrifices and bloodletting. Reilly explains that blood was a magical substance

  • 2. The New Science Of Winning Book In the New Science of Winning book, (Davenport Harris, 2007, p.7) analytics is defined as the extensive use of data, statistical and quantitative analysis, explanatory and predictive models, and fact based management to drive decisions and actions. [1]. To be successful in today s competition, my current employer, DLL Financial Solutions Partner (DLL), is competing on analytics and fully aligned its core strategies to be supported by extensive statistical and computer based decisions. DLL is a global financial services company with operation in 36 countries, and its main focus is in the commercial equipment finance sector. In the following paragraph, I will explain DLL s position in the industry and its ability to successfully compete on analytics with regards to its core business functions. In the organizational layer, DLL has a global business intelligence and global analytics team. The business intelligence team s focus is data warehousing, dashboard designing and providing real time data companywide for all the countries, which can be queried via SQL or Hyperion. Given that data often needs clean up and analysis to better understand its trends, the business intelligence team has created a Virtual Reporting Tool which is accessible by all members of the company and is meant to be the only source of the truth. This tool provides live reports and dashboards which are used for monitoring purposes and for analysis. On the other hand, the global analytics team s focus is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. My Writing As A Student Entering My English Course As a student entering my English course for the term I can admit I was a little anxious about the work I would be doing and the difficulty I would have due to the fact I knew my writing was far from perfect. Throughout the class I did see progress, but I still struggled with the writing process with my narrative draft and revision as well as my persuasive draft and revision. I used text resources available, but that still did not give me a complete understanding not at least until I used video resources as well. By looking at instructional videos provided on YouTube and other sites gave me a more visual understanding which I can say it has helped quite well. A Challenge the writing process has been for me, I would write ideas I had during my pre writing and that was all, but I did not build on my idea. I went from an idea to a draft and that was not the proper way to go about with my writing process. With innumerable Resources available it has helped me in my writing more than I thought it would because if I needed an example of what to do, I had text and video resources for that, video resources helped me to understand even more how to write correctly on my essays, writing tools and many more great resources. Using time management for my writing was very useful as well my research, pre writing and drafting stage should have took up most of the time, therefore after editing and revision then would be a breeze. Everyone has their own way of writing and not everyone ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Three Plays Of The Oresteia Throughout the three plays of the Oresteia, justice takes many different shapes and forms as various characters attempt to justify their otherwise morally questionable actions. In particular, the Oresteia portrays a transformation from an older, more primitive form of justice, to a new concept of civil justice devised by Athena. Aeschylus emphasizes this contrast between the old and new orders, and the differing philosophies of both with the older justice of the Furies and Clytemnestra taking on a more individual connotation, while that of Athena and the new gods is formed around the community. As such, while Clytemnestra carries out her justice primarily based upon her own judgement of right and wrong, justice at the end of the Eumenides is ultimately delivered based on the convictions and beliefs of a collective community of jury members. The primary source of contention in the Oresteia stems from Agamemnon s sacrifice of Iphigenia, in turn fueling Clytemnestra s murder of Agamemnon during the events in Agamemnon which itself leads to Orestes murder of Clytemnestra and Aegisthus. However, since Agamemnon and Orestes were significantly and directly influenced by Artemis and Apollo, respectively, they ultimately did not have much of an option in carrying out their actions. In contrast, Clytemnestra had little to no influence at all from any god, and thus acted solely based on her own sense of justice in murdering Agamemnon. Even moreso that that, Clytemnestra had the all ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Law School Admission Essay Summers out schools back in It s nice to have a break from school; I feel it is a little reward from the hard work all year. From waking up early, staying up late finishing papers, and most importantly, from all the energy drinks and coffee you picked up on the way to class to stay awake. But you know what they say: Nothing good ever comes easy. I m anxious to graduate. I m currently in school for business and marketing. I went for this because well I feel you can t go wrong there. I got out of high school, and I couldn t make up my mind so I went for it. I thought about interior design or detective work; I even considered the psychology route. But I m glad I didn t. Turns out, I love what I chose, and I can t imagine studying something else. During the summer I made the decision to finish what I started, but this December, I will be taking the LSAT: the Law School Admission Test. For those who are not familiar, it s part of the law school admission process here in the U.S. You re probably wondering, She wants to be a lawyer? No, not exactly. I just feel you can benefit so much from a law degree! SO in preparation for my LSAT, I signed up for a commercial preparation course. • 6. Advantages And Disadvantages Of E-Textbooks STUDENT AND TEACHERS PERCEPTIONS OF E TEXTBOOKS AND E READERS NEW WAYS TO LEARN? In this age of information technology, the traditional notion of literacy , which is understood as the ability to read and write is far from sufficient. In order to adequately characterize literacy in the 21st century, the definition has to capture the relationship between literacy and new technologies. Information and skills are indispensable concepts in the characterization of literacy in a knowledge based society. Digital literacy is concerned with the ability to understand information , and to evaluate and integrate information in multiple formats that the computer can deliver (Gilster, in Pool 1997). The success of a web enhanced experience will require professors to learn new skills in order to effectively interact with students. Sun et al. (2012) suggest that the positive impact of e textbooks is directly related to the incorporation of features in the learning process. Academics are still challenged by to efficiently measure technology s influence on higher education learning. Many articles discuss the advantages and disadvantages of e textbooks and agree that the current letter grading system may not be the best way to reward performance in this new environment. O Donnell and Sharp (2012) highlighted in their survey that students think technology delivers greater performance and is better for preparation at the masters level compared to traditional methods, see also (O Donnell, 2008). Cognitive Dissonance is defined as The distressing mental state caused by inconsistency between a person s two beliefs or a belief and an action. (Griffin, Ledbetter, et al). An example of cognitive dissonance would be a health conscious smoker, this person knows that smoking is bad for them, but they still smoke because they enjoy it. Their desire to be healthy conflicts with their smoking, this conflict places them in a distressing mental state, a state of cognitive dissonance. Festinger provides three hypotheses for CDT: 1.) Selective exposure prevents dissonance. 2.) Post decision dissonance creates need for reassurance. and 3.) Minimal justification for action induces attitude change. • 8. Forced Labor And Human Trafficking Forced labor and human trafficking are some of the forms of slavery in the modern day. Although the world has made several strides in ending human trafficking, several factors have played a big role in ensuring that trafficking is still carried on. The ILO describes forced labor as the work and services offered by a person unwillingly; on the other hand human trafficking is the transport and recruitment of people through coercion with the aim of exploiting them. The continual practice of human trafficking is attributed to certain factors such as poverty and greed. According to ILO, the profits generated from forced labor amount to 150 billion dollars. These profits are made from the private sector especially from illegal businesses such as sexual exploitation, domestic work and other economic exploitations (Johnson 4). Poverty is also another factor that has caused the human trafficking business thrive, human trafficking often originate from developing countries such as those in Asia, Africa, Latin America. Their destination, on the other hand, is always to the developed countries in Europe, America, and parts of western Africa. Although human trafficking and forced labor are some of the global challenges, poverty has played a big role in increasing the vice. The desire by the victims to move to areas where they can improve the living standards of their families has played a big role in increased rates of human trafficking. Conkin The Traditional Family Farm Book Review Over the last 90 years the American farming industry has changed drastically in terms of farming techniques, advanced machinery, government farming policies, and chemical inputs. These developments have revolutionized the agriculture industry but every adjustment can bring about both positive and negative ramifications. Author and historian Paul K. Conkin gives a detailed account of the transformative years of early American farm life spanning from the early 20th century into the 21st century when increasing food prices rocked the nation and the early farm laborers struggled to keep up with the changing industry demands. Farmers faced hardships during The Great Depression which then fueled necessary changes in legislation that secured a farmer s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The majority of the characters in Frost s poems are isolated in one way or another. In some poems, such as Acquainted with the Night and Mending Wall, the speakers are lonely and isolated from their societies. On other occasions, Frost suggests that isolation can be avoided by interaction with other members of society, for example in The Tuft of Flowers, where the poem changes from a speaker all alone, to realizing that people are all connected in some way or another. The speaker refers to the night as his acquaintance. This implies that the speaker has a lot of experience with the night, but has not become friends with it. Thus, because even the night, which has been alongside the speaker in comparison to anything or anyone else, is not a companion to the speaker, the idea of loneliness is enhanced. In addition, rain (2) is used to symbolize the speaker s feelings of gloom and grief, because there is continuous pouring of the rain, which is unlikely to stop. In line 3, city light is used to convey the emotional distance between the speaker and society. Although the speaker has walked extensively, he has not yet interacted with anyone thus distancing himself even further from society. Moreover, the moon, in lines 11 to 12, is used as a metaphor of the speaker s feelings. The speaker feels extremely distant from society that he feels unearthly. The idea of isolation and loneliness in this poem is used as the theme of the poem; and the use of the setting and metaphors underscores the idea that the speaker feels abandoned from society. He said that the eastern part of the desert of Sahara would be nothing without the water supplied by the Nile river. Water was life at the time of the ancient Egyptian civilization. The source of life of this river comes from the mountains of Ethiopia, 2,000 kilometers from the Delta. However, between the months of June to September when is storm season, the Nile river overflows becoming a sea converting nearby cities into islands. Therefore, Egyptians tried to keep a record of the Nile s first signs of overflow by building Nilometers to measure increases in the water level. It took 10 years to control the annual overflowing. A thought of that time was that gods spread blessings all over the river, since the banks of this river gave the pass to agriculture. As new techniques were developed, so the ancient Egyptian civilization production increased as well. Nonetheless, the Nile river became the natural route for traders. On the golden age of ancient Egyptians, pharaohs ruled over those lands. Pharaohs were seen as a god. Touching a pharaoh could have been punished with the death, since they were sacred. • 22. A Common Technique Used By John Updike A common technique used by authors throughout literature is the growth of the main character into their own. From the maturation of a selfish soul into a triumphant hero, or the rise of a shunned underdog into a loved champion, authors have create situations for their characters that teach readers a significant life lesson about the world we live in. For example, John Updike s Sammy from A P and Flannery O Connor s Grandmother from A Good Man is Hard to Find both receive wake up calls from the respective antagonists of their stories. They are put in high stress situations where their morals and beliefs are pushed to the limit. Both O Connor and Updike utilized the high stress situations to make the reader question their own beliefs; therefore, causing the readers to empathize with the main characters. Sammy and the Grandmother experience unique situations that force them to question their way of thinking; however, those lessons are not restricted to them, but also lessons everyone has to learn. John Updike does a great job of creating a character in Sammy that young boys are able to relate to, and then making him mature due to a shocking realization about the real world. Like most teenage boys, he is sarcastic and opinionated, but Sammy sets himself apart by being oddly observant. • 32. Life And Death In Donald Barthelme s The School Donald Barthelme s story, The School, takes on an untraditional way of explaining life and the meaning behind it. Donald Barthelme was an influential writer during the mid 1900 s and was an especially important part of flash fiction. Many of his stories were very short. His approach at writing enabled him to highlight his themes in an unusual way. He uses escalation to emphasize the deaths of plants and herbs going all the way to the death of people. Michael Byers, an assistant professor of English at the University of Michigan, writes about The School saying, curiosity, love, personal connection all sources of solace in the face of death, and once that solace arrives, the dead world returns to life (Byers). I agree with Byers that these things are sources of solace; however, I do not think Barthelme was trying to imply that after death we return to life. I believe Barthelme was trying to emphasize the meaning of life when answering the children s question by saying, life is that which gives meaning to life. He was saying that death is a natural part of human life which exists all around us. Barthelme emphasized his theme of life by using the escalation of death throughout the story. I think Barthelme wanted readers to see that life and death are the basis for existence and that one cannot exist without the other; humor through escalation is brought into effect to create the harsh contrast of life versus death. As well as using humor and escalation to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. The Contribution Of Ludwig Van Beethoven Abstract Ludwig Van Beethoven was one of the greatest musical composers of his time. Starting very young in his studies of music, he held many important positions they would develop him into the composer he became. Born in Bonn, Germany to a singer, he held his first position at the church. He later moved to Vienna where his composed several pieces, and even an opera. He created a new style of music, cyclic form. Background Ludwig van Beethoven (1770 28 March 1827) was one of the greatest art musicians, and probably had more influence over musical events than any composer, of his time (Charlton, 2016). He was born in Bonn, Germany to Father Johann van Beethoven, and named after his grandfather, Ludwig van Beethoven. There is no official record of his birthday, but the church had on file his baptism on 17 December 1770. Because one of his teacher celebrated his birthday on 16 December, his birthday is generally accepted to be on this date. He had seven brothers and sister, being one of three to survive early childhood. Beethoven s Grandfather, Ludwig van Beethoven (1712 1773), moved to Bonn when he was in his twenties. He was employed as a bass singer to the Elector of Cologne. In 1761, he became the music director. Ludwig was father to Johann (1740 1792), his only son. Johann Beethoven was a tenor singer in the same place has his father. Johann gave piano and violin lessons in his spare time to assist his income. Johann fell in love ... • 34. Social Workers And The Social Worker Client Relationship Today s social workers are surrounded by technology, which changes the way social workers and clinicians practice. Technology helps social workers and clinicians work more efficiently and effective, as it improves greater productivity, less paperwork, ultimately allowing more time for clients. With the increase of use in technology, the current NASW Code of Ethics (2008), has created new standards specifically related to electronic communications, such as email, fax machines, computers, and electronic records. According to, Getz (2012), research and experience thus far indicates that mobile application technology has the capability to support the social worker client relationship . With the increase in technological advances, social workers have the ability to utilize technological assessment tools in order to assist veterans with psychological issues. Currently, there are many different websites that social workers or clinicians could use in order to better serve and assess veterans. One online website that is beneficial for social workers to use is the U.S Department of Veteran Affairs, PTSD Assessment. This website assists social workers by giving information on a variety of measures assessing trauma and PTSD in Veterans, such as assessment basics, training and tools, and veteran specific information (2015). • 35. Atrial Fibrillation The heart is a complex yet delicate organ that operates the body on a regular basis. Without the heart the circulation system within the body would cease to exist; therefore, we would cease to exist. As with everything that is complex and works around the clock there are certain issues that can arise for example, atrial fibrillation. Atrial fibrillation is the result of an irregular or fast heartbeat this will often cause an inadequate circulation throughout the rest of the body. The atrium of the heart will not sync up to the ventricles causing an irregular or fast heartbeat. The episodes of atrial fibrillation can come and go or remain permanently and cannot usually be corrected without surgical intervention. This could be caused by hypertension, ... His work led to the evolution of radiofrequency energy catheters, which use radiofrequency energy to heat the catheter tip and perform a more precise ablation than what was possible with direct current ablation. (UCSF.(2012). When cardiac ablation is performed the surgeon is targeting the diseased conductive tissue once this is done, this will assist in correcting atrial fibrillation within the heart. These surgeries can be either minimally invasive or require an open surgical approach. Cardiac ablation is achieved through a cardiac catheter this delivers radiofrequency energy or cryoenergy to the defective area this is considered to be a minimally invasive approach. The electrophysiologist will insert a catheter into the femoral vein/artery and threads it to the right or left atrium and ventricle. They will then test different areas of the heart to try and reproduce dysrhythmia upon doing this they will then ablate the area of the heart where the disturbance takes place. Another alternative would be an open surgery known as a sternotomy approach this is where a midline incision is made in the sternum of the chest. Cannulation of the superior and inferior vena cava will then take place for a cardiopulmonary bypass. The surgeon will occlude the ascending aorta and infuse cardioplegic solution into the coronary arteries. Once this is done a right and left atriotomy is performed and the targets are ablated. The atriotomies are closed, the aorta is unclamped, cardiopulmonary bypass is stopped, cannulas are removed, chest tubes will be inserted at this time and the surgical wound is closed. Upon completion of the surgery the patient is taken to the PACU and monitored for heart rhythm issues as well as, bleeding, infection, or any other complications from the procedure. ( Fuller, J.
