Federal Budget Deficit And The National Debt
These two graphs are dealing with the federal budget deficit and the national debt and just how

Treasury sailing IOUs towards the government in the form of securities, which are called bonds.
When this occurs the effect goes by when the federal government asks U.S. and foreign households,
business, and governments to lend them money that will cover the deficit they have created.
Covering the deficit, but also has indebtedness to bondholders as well. They should be concerned
with crowding out, just because the mechanism by which investment is crowded out is an increase
in the interest rate. By more sales of securities, this would cause them to raise the interest rates on
the bonds to even have anybody wanting to buy them. These higher interest rates on bonds are
going to discourage private sectors investment and spending and these high rates causes a reduction
in the growth in capital formation, which in turn slows the growth of productivity and improvement
in society s living standard. Increasing the level of spending by the present generation crowds out
investments and reduces the growth of capital goods, leaving those in the future generations with a
smaller capital stock leaving them not to be as wealthy as they wanted to be before because this

Pros And Cons Of Anti Political Dynasty In The Philippines

Balbacal, Mikaella C.

Anti political dynasty
Political dynasty is a well known method of politicians in the Philippines wherein the members
of the family is made also a member of the government in order for them to not lose power but to
gain more power. This act is an unfair and unjust because the government is not a business that a
family can run by themselves, but the government is for all and other people should be given
chances wherein they can be the one that leads a community. The government or politics is not a
business that can be run by the generation and the generation of a family, the government is a
critical part of a community having different leaders in every generation and not only one leader
that has his or her family in the position of the government, because the system will not change it

They would want to dominate the society and because of that attitude, it will lead to the fall of the

both national and local office in Successive, simultaneous, or overlapping term. The quote
Successive, simultaneous, or overlapping term , means that you cannot run as a politician if a
member of your family or relative is still in the politics. An anti dynasty law would likely have a
naturally gradual impact, given staggered voting in the Senate, varying terms, the probable re

Descriptive And Values Of The People
Zoroastrianism

Kendra Fort, Jennifer Koo
7th Period.
Descriptive/Values of the People:
The people that adhered to this religion were the Persians of the Persian Empire that dated from
550 330 B.C. and was located from Anatolia and Egypt across western Asia to northern India and
Central Asia. The Persian society was patriarchal but the women were seen as very valuable in
society and experienced much more equality than any other women of different empires. The
economy was mostly based on trade which brought the provinces and the entire empire together and
more integrated. Urbanized Zoroastrians governed themselves by councils of notables partly by
inheritance and partly by election. The council managed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some other important values of the people are also shown through the passages that state that the
cultivation of the individual and civic virtues of everyone, including women, following the laws and
avoiding being dishonest, caring for the poor, and loyalty to the church should be important for
every Zoroastrian.
Pourandokht was the first queen of Persia and it shows that women had quite a lot of equality and
could participate in politics and ruling of the empire.
Origin Story:
Zoroastrianism was created by a prophet named Zoroaster, or can also be referred as Ahura Mazda,
who was also considered the god of the religion. Zoroaster grew up in a polytheistic religion,
where they had animal sacrifices and crazy rituals. The Zoroastrianism religion was created
where they were against slaves, animal sacrifices, and only believed in one god (Monotheistic),
this shows that his cultural influences growing up was a big influence on what he believed in
when creating this religion. Zoroastrianism was created during the rise of Persia, when Cyrus the
Great conquer the land. A big belief in Zoroastrianism is that he believed a person should have a
choice between God and the evil spirit s . Zoroastrianism is one of the oldest religions, it combined

The Effects Of Beauty Standards On Body Image
The Effects of Beauty Standards
Understanding the effects of beauty standards to both men and women requires research of both
sexes and different orientations in regard to the influence the media has on them. While cultural
standards contribute to beauty standards, media carries most of the responsibility for swaying
public opinion of attractiveness. In order to find an answer as to why certain beauty standards
currently exist, one must examine the root cause: media.
Literature Reviewed
First Group of Studies Media and Body Image. In order to prevent continued negative effects on
body image by the media, it has been suggested that images that have been changed need to have
labels to prevent body dissatisfaction (Slater et al., 2012). Wang et al. (2010) provided evidence
that both men and women attempt to appear like the people portrayed in magazines. Men were
influenced by health and sports magazines, whereas women attempted to look like the models in
entertainment and fashion magazines (Wang, 2010). Participants in the Slater et al. (2012) study
showed that warning labels may help prevent the negative effects of media images, as they portray
an unrealistic ideal for the human body (Slater et al., 2012; Wang, 2010).
Second Groups of Studies Body Dissatisfaction. The development of removing pubic hair is caused
by body dissatisfaction, which relates to one s choice, physical attractiveness, and other key themes
(Braun et al., 2013). Originally a norm for Anglo/Western

As stated by Somer, Like Levi s and Coca Cola, Converse sneakers are global symbols of
American pop culture, which leads one to appreciate and comprehend how iconic the sneakers
really are in America. The intricate geometric patterns of the shoes and styles, the durability and
functionality, and sleek modern look make any pair of chucks a perfect example of art Deco that is
fashionable in both America and Europe (Somer, 1).
The Converse Shoe Company, and the shoes themselves, are more than just a shoe company or a

Effects Of Poverty In Developing Countries
Poverty is believed to be a global phenomenon and it is caused by lack of resources, war and
political conflicts, natural disasters and inheritance of poverty in a country. Social discrimination is
one of the many causes of poverty in developing countries. It does not only cause but also act as a
hurdle in alleviating poverty. According to Pernia and Quibria (1999), poverty has many dimensions
other than income or consumption. Among the other dimensions are health, nutrition, education
and genderequality. UNIFEM (2000) also proclaimed that an alternative approach is used to define
poverty such as lack of assets, dignity, autonomy and time apart from being elucidated as
shortcomings in consumption or income. Therefore, the three effects of social discrimination that
contributes to poverty in developing countries that this essay would discuss on are gender
inequalities in education, gender variabilities in work force and racial background disparities.
Racial background hereby means ethnicity which is categorized based on a group of people with
similar traits for instance common heritage, language, cultural similarities within the group,
sometimes the geographical connection to a specific place, common food and even faith (Christian,
E 2017).
The first effect of social discrimination that leads to poverty in developing countries is the gender
inequalities in receiving education. Women are more prone to poverty because of the inequalities in
the distribution of proper

The Problem Of Global Change
Global change is happening on Earth and is affecting the Polar Regions, especially Greenland.
There are many things that global change is doing; temperatures rising, ice melting, and water
levels rising. Temperature rising affects the ice melting, the heating of the Earth, and the weather.
The melting of the ice affects sea levels rising and affects the temperaturerising. Finally, sea level
rising affects the climateand more temperature rising. These issues are and will continue to affect
the Earth, badly.
Temperature rising is the main problem for ice melting, which ice melting is a problem for water
levels rising, but what is the main problem for temperature rising? Humans. We have been causing
global change by burning fossil fuels. The article Open Mind commented on the temperatures
before the industrial revolution and after: The world has already warmed 1C (degree Celsius,
equal to 1.8 degrees Fahrenheit) above what it was before the industrial revolution...The prevailing
view is that warming by 2C above pre industrial means dangerous climate change, although lately
many are coming to believe that even going 1.5C above pre industrial is dangerous. (Open Mind
[updated 2016]). Open Mind also stated that there is a trend, that temperature was rising since 1970
and that the trend will continue. Upward. (Open Mind [updated 2016]).
Temperatures are also rising in the troposphere, where weather exist. Open Mind states the same

Market opportunity is a big factor in shaping a company s strategy. Indeed, managers can t properly
tailor strategy to the company s situation without first identifying its market opportunities and
appraising the growth and profit potential each one holds. Centurum managers do an excellent job
of identifying potential opportunities and appraising the potential impact of each opportunity for
the company. Centurum managers due an in depth evaluation of the opportunity and establish
potential team members that may be required to support the effort along with the win percentage
for the effort. Centurum managers realize they cannot go after every opportunity that comes out but
know they must capitalize on the ones perfectly tailored to match the skill sets of its employees and
the size of the company. The market opportunities most relevant to a company are those that match

Bsw Culture
At Baylor Scott White Health (BSWH) at All Saints, we celebrated diversity week in June of
this year. The CafГ© featured a meal from a different culture each day. Then, in the main atrium,
a culture map was hung with push pins available to mark the country of a person s heritage.
Later, an employee could choose to complete a puzzle related to diversity in health care. The
completed puzzle could be turned in to Human Resources (HR), and the employee would be
entered in a drawing for a prize. Another activity for the employees was Bingo. The card had
quotes and trivia about diversity and were handed to employees to complete. Once the card was
finished, the card was turned into HR. At that time, the employee was entered a drawing. Briefly,
these activities demonstrate how BSWH at All Saints is actively educating the staff and others in
the different cultures surrounding our hospital. In essence, the exercises focus on the positive
aspects of the different cultural groups. This was a fun and enjoyment way of learningabout the

The Weight Restriction For Muscle Mass During Resistance...
Introduction Over the last few years, there has been an increasing weight lifting culture. Adepts of
the weight lifting community have developed all sorts of theories and training regimens in order to
optimise the gains in muscle mass during resistance training. Unfortunately, many methods
developed by these adepts have not yet been proved to be efficient by any scientific studies.
Luckily, some researchers have studied the responses of muscle proteinmetabolismto nutrition and
exercise and have enlightened us with knowledge regarding the function and importance of certain
nutrients in protein synthesis (K. Tipton Wolfe, 2001)
When performing resistance training over a period of time, muscular mass can increase
(hypertrophy) in response to the specific stimulus induced on the muscle fibers during the exercise.
In order for the skeletal muscle to grow, net protein synthesis must occur (protein synthesis must
exceed protein breakdown). Net protein synthesis is non achievable if resistance training is
performed alone without the intake of certain dietary nutrients (K. Tipton Wolfe, 2001). Recent
evidence has shown that an increase in circulating amino acids induced by the consumption of
certain nutrients following exercise can increase the net protein balance due to stimulation of
muscle protein synthesis (Tang et al., 2007). Amino acids are the basic unit of protein structure and
peptide bonds link amino acids in chains that take on diverse forms and chemical

Math Statistics Essay
In this mathematical circumstance, it is appropriate to use the Normal Model with this data

After solving for the variable and then plugged in the values and I got raw score= 0.8416
(65.984512) + 553.62369 which gave us a raw score of 609 rounded to the nearest integer. To be
in the top 5% of the class a student would need to have a SAT score of around 662. I have come
to that conclusion by simply converting 5 into a decimal number (5/100) and then plugging that
decimal number (0.05) into invNorm in the calculator which gave us invNorm (0.05, 0, 1) =
1.6448. I then changed the number into a positive value to calculate the top 5%, and then
plugged it into our raw score formula that we solved earlier and got raw score= 1.6448
(65.984512) + 553.62369 which gave us a raw score of 662 rounded to the nearest integer. To
calculate the z score at the 25th percentile of the model I converted 25 into a decimal number (25
/100) and then plugged that decimal number (0.25) into invNorm in the calculator which gave us
invNorm (0.25, 0, 1) = 0.6744. Then to calculate the raw score at the 25th percentile I plugged
the z score 0.6744 into the raw score formula we solved earlier and got raw score= 0.6744
(65.984512) + 553.62369 which gave us a raw data value of 509 rounded to the nearest integer.
The z score and raw data value at 75th percentile of the model is 0.6744 and 598. To calculate the
z score at the 75th percentile of the model I converted 75 into a decimal (75/100) and then plugged

The Positive Connotation In Thou Blind Man s Mark
For many people, the word desire carries a positive connotation, bringing to mind dreams of things
that could be. In Sir Philip Sidney s poem Thou Blind Man s Mark, however, desire is
characterized not as a wistful thing, but as a dangerous compulsion that must be stopped. Through
Sidney s extensive use of figurative language and repetition, it is made clearthat the speakerclearly
despises desire due to the horrible things desire can lead to. This expresses the idea that people
must look inside themselves to gain true happinessrather than desiring for things that can never
be. The speaker s negative attitude toward desire is established early on in the poem as the
speaker compares desire to many dreadful things in an almost ironic way. Desire is first
described as a blind man s mark, which creates a dark irony and sets the negative tone for the rest
of the poem (1). A blind man would not be able to see his target, so therefore he would not be
able to clearly aim at the target. Rather, he must shoot blindly and hope to hit the mark, which is
what desire causes people to do. Desire can also be seen as a fool s self chosen snare, implying
that those who desire are foolish because they chose to fall into the trap of desire rather than
attempting to avoid it (1). These metaphors begin to characterize desire as foolish and something
that one cannot control. The metaphors in the next line set up the speakers personal view on
desire, as a fond fancy scum and dregs

History Of Managed Care And Health Maintenance Organizations
Those of us who have served in the Military a very familiar with managed care, we may not

reform. Health care cost is not something that we worry about; after all the government takes

What is managed care and where did it come from? According to Medicaid. Gov, managed care
is a health care delivery system organized to managed cost, utilization, and quality

Araby By James Joyce Point Of View
There was no doubt about it: if you wanted to succeed you had to go away. You could do nothing
in Dublin. Little Chandler proclaimed this in the short story A Little Cloud and was a common
theme within Joyce s short stories. He used his short stories as a medium to reach the hearts and
minds of the people in Dublin, the place he called home. Although it was his home he didn t have
the fondest memories of it which are clearly present in his writing. James Joycewas, in my opinion,
a revolutionary who used his short stories as a means of changing the way of thinking for the
homeland he resented. Joyce s characters embark on a cyclical journey that can often puzzle the

Joyce made a profound statement by describing her as a helpless animal because of her inability
to act and chase her desire. As the boat pulled away the reader could feel Eveline s life perish
and her beginning the automation of a dull and unfulfilling life in Dublin. Another frustrating
cycle of hope and eventually anguish is present in Araby by Joyce. You follow the journey of the
narrator who wants to buy a gift for a girl he is enchanted with from the splendid bazaar . This
seems like a simple task but Joyce uses this a chance to emphasize the mentality and
hopelessness of the people of Dublin. As the day arrives for him to go to the bazaar the doubt

A Positive Parent And Child Relationship
A positive parent and child relationship is the main foundation for children s knowledge. With
parents and their sensitive, responsive, and predictable caring towards young children, it helps
develop children s skills they need to succeed in their lifetime. Likewise early parent child
relationships have powerful effects on children s emotional well being. Through these exchanges
children learn skills they need to engage with other children as well as adapt in different types of
environments. Children eventually learn how to manage their emotions, and behaviors in addition
they establish healthy relationships with adults and peers. This would eventually lead children to
learn how to adjust to new situations and to resolve conflicts. When parents have warm, trusting,
and reliable relationships with peers as well as their families, community members, and service
providers, they are more likely to have positive relationships with their children. To work towards

Free Bangladesh From The Exploitation Of Pakistan Essay
To free Bangladesh from the exploitation of Pakistan, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, President of the

Moving Forward
I ve often experienced feelings of regrets because of risks I have taken or not taken and words I
have said or left unsaid. I sometimes think about how I will deal with these in my future life and
how I will cope with grief and other emotions as I grow older. In her book, Option B, author Sheryl
Sandberg helps me deal with moments like these. She states, Of the hundreds of answers, most had
one thing in common: the majority of regrets were about failure to act, not actions that failed.
Psychologists have found that over time we usually regret the chances we missed, not the chances
we took. As my mom often told me when I was growing up, You regret the things you don t do,
not the things you do (Sandberg 145). The lasting impression that this narrative will leave with
readers includes having no regrets, living life to its fullest, and grieving is a natural emotion.
Sandberg discusses how to live life without regret and deal with grief as a natural emotion that
everyone will experience.
When a person loses a loved one, the hardest emotional phase that we experience is grief. Within
grief, regret is common by remembering the opportunities that have been lost. Sheryl Sandberg
states, I thought constantly about how if I d known that Dave and I had only eleven years, I would
ve made sure we spent more time together. I wished that in the hard moments in our marriage, we

The nature of Elsa s character
Athol Fugard s play, The road to Mecca introduces a character, Elsa Barlow, a complex character
with strong opinions. She comes across as confused and troubled throughout the play, battling
with her own depression while also trying to help her old friend miss Helen with her troubles.
Within this essay I am going to discuss how the confinement of time, the year 1974, and space,
which is Miss Helen s home, helps readers see deeper into the nature of Elsa s character. I will

Was Bill Clinton Impeachment Justified
For this assignment I chose Bill Clinton. Bill Clinton was impeached on two charges: lying under
oath and obstruction of justice. Mr. Clinton lied under oath about his affair with Monica Lewinsky,
but that was not the grounds for impeachment. So, was Bill Clinton s impeachment justified? No.
There cannot have been an obstruction of justice if the per suite of truth in this case was not itself a
just pursuit. You were lied to, yes by the President, who had an understandable and very personal
reason to lie. Even if that was enough to condemn the dude in guilt, the great and terrible thing
about justice in America is that it is not administered by robots; justice without mercy is cruelty.

Classification Systems For Offenders Essay
Over the last few decades classification systems for offenders have been used for a variety of
organizational purposes. Over time these classification systems have evolved, not only as a whole
in the criminal justice system, but also varying between different organizations. Classification
systems that create models based on the risks and needs of offenders are most popular.
Throughout the years these models and the purposes for their use have been in a state of change,
as well as the way their effectiveness is gaged. One of the most commonly used classification
systems for offenders is the combination of risk assessment and need assessment. The combination
of these two systems of classification is rather new. The earliest types of... Show more content on

The second generation was characterized by the custody classification risks and parolees being
classified on their risk of reoffending based on their custody classification. These early models
were administered routinely but scores rarely changed because the information in the assessment
was static and did not change over time (Van Voorhis, et al., 2009). Such information as the
severity of prior convictions, and prior felonies did not change between assessments and led to an
overly simple classification system that did not offer any options for treatment or change within
offender behavior. Additionally, it was proven that the earliest risk assessment models were not
accurate in dealing with female offenders because the history of women offenders is not as
indicative of future behavior as it is with male offenders (Van Voorhis et al., 2008). While the
original risk assessment models were helpful in achieving a basic glance at offender behavior risks,
it lacked the quality assessment tools needed to not only determine whether an offender was going
to be a danger while institutionalized or the community once paroled, but to fully offer options for
rehabilitation. More recently, the combination of risk/needs assessments have changed the course
of classification models. No longer are risks assessments conducted solely for the institutionalized
but also are used to foresee new transgressions with needs that are similarly elements of offender

raping women when they travel alone and/or beating them. If a women is raped some husbands

abusive households were they are beaten and unappreciated everyday. Some women go through
extreme cases were either their husbands burn them in rage or women burn themselves in order
to make a statement and die with no more suffering from there husbands. A Thousand Splendid
Suns is a story of an abusive husband. The impact on me from this story was immense. Living in
the United States of America most people do not know what is happening in Afghanistan and/or
the extent on what women are put through. Mariam is the perfect example of a life of suffering
for women in Afghanistan. Dishonored as a child, she was forced to live in a clay kolba with her
mother. Married off at the young age of 14, her story begins with the life style of an abusive
husband. Laila, on the other hand, was raised in a family were female education was pursued and
girls were aloud to attend school. Laila s Father is a very loving man and a determined mother.

Greek Revolution Research Paper
The Greek people suffered from oppression and inequality under the Ottoman empire for over 400
years before finding bright individuals that would aid them in starting a revolution that would
change their lifestyles forever. Why did the Greek wait 400 years to revolt? Although the answer is
not clear, the peasants and farmers were too poor and uneducated because the area of Greecewas in
poverty. The Greeksfound three different inspirational people that would help them discover what
they valued and why they needed freedom from the Ottomans. What pushed the Greeks to finally
revolt in the Greek War of Independence was the increased religious discrimination, the motivation
of the prophets of the revolution, and the taxation policy.

The ancient ideas about beuty of mind, body and spirit, led on to a new philosophy, known as
humanism, which challenged the teachings of the medieval Church. Renaissance thinkers made
human beings, and human achivements, their main concern. They cared more about life in this
world, than about eternity. Most humanists did not reject altogether. But now they believed that, in
some ways, humans could be perfect, and almost equal to God. The discoveries by Renaissance
scholars in subjects as different as atonomy, music and maths all helped humanists. Scholars
considered shapes, such as squares and circles, to be mathematically perfect. They were delighted
that Roman architect Vitruvius had suggested that a perfect human body was naturally in harmony
with these perfect mathematical forms. They took this harmony as evidenve of a grand design , by
which the univese had been formed. Michaelangelo intended his painting to be more than just a
picture: it is a statement of humanist beliefs in the power and beuty of humankind. Michaelangelo
believed that without God, Adam could not live. Even so, he has portrayed him as strong, relaxed

Colistin Essay
Colistin is a type of polymyxin, which are cyclic lipopeptides typically with the structure below.

Firstly, it is an older drug, and so has not been subjected to the same guidelines and rigorous
testing for new drugs. Secondly, the little information there is on the pharmacodynamics and
pharmacokinetics of colistin is very unreliable.39 Colistin is commercially available in its
prodrug form CMS. However, CMS hydrolyses over time and leads to a higher than normal levels
of colistin in blood samples. This led to pharmacokinetics studies on humans that were performed
prior to 2003 to be invalid. The problem is that dosing guidelines were developed when colistin
first entered the market, and was therefore based on faulty data.39 Thirdly, the pharmacokinetics
and pharmacodynamics of CMS and colistin are different, and this makes it very difficult dosing
CMS in order to get the desired colistin plasma concentration.11
Studies over the years have also provided inconsistent results for colistin, in terms of both
efficacy and safety. In addition, the labelling for each colistin product is different, with
Colomycin being described in terms of CMS, and Coly Mycin M in terms of colistin base activity.
To make things more confusing, the recommended dosing guidelines can also be given in terms of
milligrams of CMS, millions of international units of CMS, or milligrams of colistin base

How the Properties of Water are Related to Its Roles in Living Organisms and as a Living
Environment for Living Organisms
Over 70% of the world s surface is covered by water, 95% of which consists of salty oceans; water
is essential to all life forms. A molecule of water consists of two hydrogen atoms covalently bound
to one atom of oxygen which gives a formula of H2O. When water molecules are close together
their positive and negative regions are attracted to the oppositely charged regions of nearby
molecules. The force of attraction, shown in the diagram below as a dotted line, is called a
hydrogen bond. Each water molecule is hydrogen bonded to four others. It is these hydrogen bonds

This also means that, compared with air, water releases heat energy slowly when situations cause
it to cool. Water s high specific heat helps organisms to regulate their body temperatures more
effectively. Water vapour is a greenhouse gas, and both the capability to keep heat in and to
transfer heat from the tropics serves to buffer temperatures on Earth. For example, as one half of
the Earth rotates away from the sun the fall in temperature is much more gradual than it would
have been if there was no water vapour in the atmosphere.
As water expands when it freezes it allows ice to float on the surface which creates an insulating
layer on lakes and rivers. This prevents the entire body of water and all the organisms living in it
from freezing. The weak hydrogen bonding means that ice has a lot of empty space. When ice
melts the frozen geometry is removed, but not all the hydrogen bonds are broken. The molecules
begin to pack more closely together to fill some of the empty space. Thus, liquid water is denser
than ice. Water has its greatest density at 4В°C and this is why the top of a lake freezes first. The
cooler part freezes and the more dense water at slightly higher temperature sinks to the bottom. This
helps to protect fresh water organisms which live in the bottom. The empty space also means that
ice does not conduct heat very well

Continuity and Development in Roman Catholic Ecclesiology
Summary
After the Reformation, the Roman Catholic Church showed herself as a perfect society , which is
visible by the profession of faith while Protestant is not. Subsequently, retrieving the biblical and
patristic evidence, Pius XII s encyclical letter introduced the image of mystical body of Christ for
the Church. Overcoming the impersonality the image of perfect society has, this idea was still
criticized for the exclusiveness and also a lack of historical Christ. After that, the Church began to
consider the Eucharistic ecclesiology. Supported by the theology in the RCIA, which elucidates the
significance and the Baptism and the Eucharist, the ecclesiology regained its dynamism. ... Show

As the proverb lex orandi, lex credendi goes, especially supporting her arguments by liturgical
resources is effective. At the expense of that, however, there are fewer arguments from biblical
resources. For example, the reader may not be able to understand where this image comes from
when she discusses the church as people of God (p.161), although this image apparently stems from
the biblical tradition. The second weakness in her argument is that she does not explain the
historical background, though she admits the fact that the mystery of the church is present and
manifested in a concrete society, (P. 168) where people were at the mercy of influential ideologies,
such as modernism, atheism and communism. Finally, explanation on infallibility, in my opinion,
can be omitted for the following three reason. Firstly, it is not convincing to the faithful other than
Roman Catholic Church because of less biblical evidence. Secondly, Vatican I was discontinued and
not a few opponents left the council before its closure in order to avoid voting. Finally, the
historical constraint should be considered. Therefore, there is no point in introducing the
theological theory before the last

Empowerment always includes power, as it is absolutely necessary. In the field of social work,
empowerment involves the partnership model in which power is developed with and among ,
rather than power over consumers. (Cox, et Al 2008) Wetzel and Inglehart demonstrated the
Human Empowerment model in which it is demonstrated empowerment is essential to
democracy, because it is only effective if power is vested within the people. Empowerment in
nursing stresses that in order for a nurse to empower their patients, they must also surrender
power. (Gibson, 1991) Seen in all three disciplines, partnership is a process of enabling people to
choose to take control over and make decisions about their lives and critical to empowerment. It is
also a process which values all those involved. It is a democratic concept, fighting for the
advancement of social justice and freedom of choice. Value of self and others is an important
attribute in empowerment, and is essential for application of the concept. It is a very positive,

Comparison Of Love In The Notebook And The Time Traveler s...
How do Nicholas Sparks and Audrey Niffenegger explore the ways the pursuit of an ideal love
shapes human relationships?
The pursuit of an ideal and perfect love and the way that this endeavor shapes human relationships
is a defining connection between the characters of The Notebook and The Time Traveler s Wife,
written respectively by Nicholas Sparks and Audrey Niffenegger. The suggestion of, not only desire
for an ideal love but also a deep seated need for this kind of love is something that becomes very
familiar to the reader in The Notebook, as it is witnessed by the fate like reconnection between
Noah and Allie. Although their love has been interrupted and tampered with by outside parties, and
in spite of this, their love endures and flourishes. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The setting of the home is used throughout both texts. This evokes a sense of comfort and
homeliness in the reader, therefore making them proportionally more sympathetic towards the
relationships of both the central couples in question and allows them to interrelate the situations
in their own lives. Noah s 1946 plantation home is one that is full of life. His home is a refuge
that is laden with memories of Allie. In particular, a picture of [Allie s] dreams is located in the
central location of the house, see desire in . . . every stroke symbolizes the ever changing nature
of their relationship, just as Allie was adding to it every day, changing it as our relationship
changed . Much like Allie s painting, Henry and Clare s house in Chicago mirrors their married
life, marked by ups and downs. It has seen their characters and relationships develop, at times
being a safe haven where the house envelops us, watches us, contemplates us as though it were a
guardian. The house, however, also sees Henry s frequent disappearances and Clare s endless
longing, a love intensified by absence . It watches the many arguments, Clare s multiple
miscarriages, and eventually Henry s death, morphing and altering with each new event.
Through the setting of the nursing home, Sparks is able to evoke the emotions of longing,
distress, and pity in the reader. It is a place of sadness and loss, with the constant reminder of an
entire life, not remembered, she would stare at forgotten offspring, hold paintbrushes that
inspired nothing, and read love letters that brought back no joy. This loss symbolizes the
unpredictable way is which a love and a relationship can change so dramatically so quickly.
Sparks is able to embed the idea that once a deep and ideal love is found, it may not remain so
pristine and complete after a time. This is

Romance heroes, Action heroes, Fiction heroes, Real heroes. They are all around us. Have you
ever actually stopped to think about all the places we can see/find heroes in our daily lives?
Near and far, people are performing courageous acts this second. If we just stopped to realize
these everyday people, we could view the world in such a different light than focusing on the
negative acts of criminals and liars. What is the real question? What is a hero, or who is a hero?
Well, in my eyes, a hero is someone who surrenders more for other people than they do for
themselves. This is shown in actions across the globe and across time.
Throughout time, we as people create stereotypes and guidelines to provide a clear idea what the
normal of something is. So what do we claim a hero is? Look at an easy stereotype in Disney.
Hercules. Truly obvious, I know, but what we are looking at is the most basic stereotype: heroes
are men. Cinderella, Snow White, and Sleeping Beauty are all movies titled after their female
characters and yet it is men who are thrust ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Is it possible for us to be heroes in our daily lives? The truth is that each one of us has the ability
to become a hero to someone (Allison). I agree, I think the answer is yes. Every time we declare
choices, we have the possibility to be heroic. Little, simple actions such as making someone
smile when they are in a bad mood. Helping an elderly person up stairs or across the street,
finding fifty dollars and returning it, or even just helping out a struggling classmate can be
viewed as heroic. Giving to other people without expecting anything in return is one more
definition of being heroic. Just because we aren t in the war or in a movie, does not mean we
cannot be heroes in our own lives. We write our own stories and choose our own paths. By
making these decisions to be heroes in our own worlds, we can be just like our favorite characters

The Song Walk This Way `` By The Rock Band Aerosmith And...
During the 1970s, Rock and Roll dominated the music culture and charts with some of the best hits
from bands such as Led Zeppelin, The Eagles, and others, while at the same time early Hip Hop
were starting up with artists such as Kool Herc and Grandmaster Flash. The genre stayed an
underground phenomenon throughout the 1970s and fairly unpopular with the white audience of
Rock and Roll, which held back its appearance in mainstream music until the mid 1980s. In this
paper, I compare the differences in the arrangements of the song Walk This Way by the rock band
Aerosmithand a cover done by the Hip Hop group Run D.M.C, and explore the music culture of
the 1970s and 1980s which influence the original song and its cover version. I argue that Run
DMC s progressive crossover cover of Walk This Way by Aerosmith took down the wall
separating Rock and Roll and Hip Hop, legitimizing the genre s acceptability and propelling it
into popular mainstream music. The 1970s, also known as the Me Decade , was a time of
diversifying music. The Beatles had broken up, Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin had died from
drug overdose, Led Zeppelin was Britain s most popular group, The Rolling Stones weren t
active, and rock roll was branching out into various popular subgenres such as: Country Rock,
Glam Rock, Progressive Rock, Punk Rock, Soft Rock, and Hard Rock/Heavy Metal. Hard rock
and Heavy Metal were interchangeable terms during the time because of their similarity; consisting

A Research On Being A Medical Sonographer Essay
Scrub wearin , gel squirtin , patient scannin , baby findin , Diagnostic Medical Sonographer. Eat,
Sleep, Scan. Before I began my research on being a Medical Sonographer, I already had a pretty
good idea at some of the things they do. They mainly do ultrasounds on babies, to see the growth
and health of the baby. They also do ultrasounds on all different people, if they re in pain and
they need to determine the problem. Their job might seem easy; sometimes it is, but the other
times when we discover something wrong with the patient you have to keep it in. You are not
allowed to tell them what you just found out; only the doctor can do so. It s very heartbreaking
for them to do baby ultrasounds because sometimes, for some unknown reason something
happens to that baby and it s hard to keep that bottled up and act like nothing s wrong in front of
their parents. I wanted to find out what this job requires and what kind of education i need to
obtain to get a job for this career. I also wanted to find out the employment outlook, the estimated
salary, and jobs in Mississippi for this career. The first place I went to find my information was
referred to by my teacher, where I found every answer I needed and more. The website I found my
information on is called mschoices.com. It gave me my complete job outlook, requirements, and
the salary of a Medical Sonographer. After I gathered all of my research I set up an interview with a
medical sonographer at a clinic in Tupelo to ask a

Humans Cause Climate Change Essays
Two thousand scientists, in a hundred countries, engaged in the most elaborate, well organized
scientific collaboration in the history of humankind, have produced long since a consensus that we
will face a string of terrible catastrophes unless we act to prepare ourselves and deal with the
underlying causes of global warming.
Al Gore
Many misinformed people believe that extreme climate change is a natural process; something that
human activities have nothing to do with. They cite events such as the Ice Age and believe that
these events are part of a natural Earth cycling. Therefore, they happen despite anything that
humans do. A common misunderstanding of the climate system characterizes it like a pendulum.
The planet will warm ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Basic scientific concepts show that this view is naive and incorrect. The forces of the Earth do not
work so that there are equal balances in the temperature chances in the world, so that they average
out to be a comfortable room temperature. For example, the troposphere (the lowest part of
theatmosphere) is warming, but the levels above, from the stratosphere up, are cooling, as less
radiation is escaping out to space. This rules out cycles related to the Sun, as solar influences would
warm the entire atmosphere in a uniform fashion. The only explanation that makes sense is
greenhouse gases (Climatesight 1). Furthermore, it is clear that it is not the whole atmosphere that
is heating up, only the troposphere is. The rest of the atmosphere above that is, in turn, cooling
down. Clearly, the climate change is much more complex than this predicted equilibrium.
This perspective accepts that climate change is happening, it agrees with the data explaining that
the existing climate patterns are extremely abnormal. However it denies the fact that humans cause
it as seeks other blame for it. This model simply states that climate change is a natural process and
nothing to worry about because of the Ice Age. It rejects any idea that human activities and their
carbon footprint could cause these problems. In fact, it argues that the Earth would be experiencing
the same climate changes even if humans did not populate it. However, the scientific data clearly
rejects these

Analysis Of Dulce Et Decorum Est By Wilfred Owen, And...
Man s Inhumanity to man
Introduction
DULCE ET DECORUM EST by Wilfred Owen, and This Blinding Absence of Light by Tahar
Ben Jelloun, are both powerful texts that give the reader sympathy and strong emotional
experiences. When comparing the two texts, there are multiple aspects that they share, for
example they both convey a strong message on survival and what it s like to be faced with death,
however the setting, symbolism and themes like hope, and the power of thought are very different.
The novel This Blinding Absence of Light is set in the Tazmamart prison in Morocco, where
Salim, a prisoner of war, was held captive with 18 other men for 20 years. When confined in a
small, pitch black chamber, with only starchy food, sludgy water and what hope they have left,
Salim and the men are pushed to their limits of survival under such harsh conditions. Throughout
the novel Salim goes on both a mental and physical journey to come at peace with himself, which
shapes his perspective of what life means. The text DULCE ET DECORUM EST is set in World
War 1 when a group of British soldiers are attacked with chlorine gas. In the rush upon the shells of
gas exploding, one soldier does not get his mask on in time. Wilfred Owen portrays in detail the
gruesome effects of the gas upon this man and concludes that one may not have the same opinion
after being exposed to the first hand reality of war.

Psychological Impact On Public Consciousness
INTRODUCTION
Psychological operations are successfully used to influence the public consciousness, the economy,
and the military operations.
THE PUBLIC CONSCIOUSNESS
Nowadays psychological operations are becoming an effective tool in both foreign and domestic
policy. They are widely used in the sphere of international relations to ensure the voluntary
submission of opponents, to promote the activities of supporters, and to maintain a high level of
motivation among allies. One of the most important elements of these actions is the informational
and psychological impact on public consciousness. During the Gulf WarPSYOPS effectively used
to influence on public consciousness of international community and local populations.
Before entering the war against Iraq in 1990, for multinational forces was necessary to explain the
causes of the war to the international community. Multinational forces had to clarify to the world
all reasons like: the restoration of Kuwait s lost independence (in August 1990, Iraqi troops
occupied Kuwait); Protection of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Oman against
possible aggression by Iraq; Protection of the freedom of global navigation in the Persian Gulf;
Protection of the trampled rights of Kurds and Shiites in Iraq. With using global information
network, it became possible to show the aggressiveness of Iraq and set up world public opinion
against Iraq. At the same time attempts by Iraq to find the support of other countries have

Grade Fixing Motimilation
For this reason, grade fixing/inflation is not helpful to students. It may increase a student s GPA,
i.e. grade point average at the time, but in the long run, it will only become a proverbial noose
around that same student s neck while attempting to become successful at their future jobs. In fact,
employers criticize recent college graduates for the mindset they have that perpetuates the
entitlement mindset. It is this mentality, if not checked at the door, which jeopardizes all future
endeavors for the said student. Regardless, whether it be furthering their education, or finding a job.
This jeopardy proves that grademanipulation is not fixing anything, but inflating everything. There
needs to be a return to the basics of grading. This

Bounce-Personal Narrative
Bounce, bounce. Following with a big sigh. I sprinted to the back line of the court. I turned around.
Next I looked where I wanted my serve to go. No one had believed in me because I had never
gotten my serve over in practice or in a game. RING, RING, RING, RING. My alarm repeatedly got
louder and louder. I woke up. It was 6:30 in the morning. I was so mad because I thoughtthat it was
a normal saturday. Then I realized that it was the last game of the season. I took out my uniform
and my spandex and put them on along with my socks. I did some stretches, sit ups and push ups
before I ran down stairs. I made myself 2 scrambled eggs and I piece of toast. I put butter on the
bread and cheese on the eggs. After the food was reddy I sat down at 6:52 AM. After I ate breakfast

minutes. After that I practiced my back sets and tips. Once our team captains went to see who
served first our whole team practiced together. Once we were done we did are team cheer. We
ran out onto the court. Point goes the the other team after Mylen spikes it into the net. After
about twenty points both to their side and the team calls a timeout. At this time it was my turn
to serve. My heart started to beat fast. Chargers Volleyballs team was out of time for there time

had turned the score was 21 20 and we were down by one. I needed to make 5 serves straight.

Fantasia Movie Comparison
Absolute film was a movement created by a group of artists in Germany in the 1920 s (Wikipedia).
Hans Richter, Walter Ruttman, Oskar Fischinger, and Viking Eggeling were the pioneers who
created absolute film, and all of them had artistic backgrounds besides Fischinger. Most cinematic
projects have a story line, and something you follow through, but with absolute filmit is quite the
opposite. Absolute film depended solely on the artist s vision and imagination for the film. It was a
remarkable revolution in cinema, that a film could be created simply off a visual spectacle with aid
from auditory music. No story line, no characters, nothing... just random images, colors, shapes
flowing on the screen to music made to evoke imagination. Fantasia... Show more content on

They can make it as simple and just colors flashing across the screen with no music, or as
complex as something as Fantasia. I think it s necessary because without it an expressional type
of film wouldn t exist, but I don t think filmmaking is dependent on absolute film. There were
films before absolute film and films after, but I do think it helped show a more creative side to
cinema. It helped aid in making history in cinema, and provided a different outlook to certain film
features. Without absolute film, so new film techniques might not have been discovered till way
later, so I think ultimately it helped grow the cinema field and knowledge. I am not sure why Walt
Disney would put an absolute film in a children s production. Even though Fantasia wasn t as
weird as Mothlight, I feel like children would have a hard time being interested in a film with no
characters, or plot. On the other hand, children do have short spans of attention, and sometimes can
t understand difficult story lines because of their age, so maybe this film would be interesting to
them. I think Walt Disney motivation to put an absolute film in a children s production was to
simply spark

The Consequences Of Success In Animal Farm, By George Orwell
Success is an iceberg. What you see on the surface is never the full story. Success can also be
very destructive. In the beginning, it seems harmless but the more that is exposed, the more you
uncover how many consequences come with it. In George Orwell s, Animal Farm, He writes
about the struggles endured throughout the rises and falls of the characters in the book. Animal
Farm was always doomed to fail because the absolute power corrupted the pigs, the uneducated
animals were easily manipulated, and the commandments ended up only applying to the lower
class animals. As the pigs began to take over the farm they got power hungry. They would sit
and order the other animals around as Orwell explains in the following quote, The pigs did not
actually work, but directed and supervised the others. With their superior knowledge it was
natural that they should assume the leadership. This was the start of the pigs takeover. They
were beginning to rule the whole farm without regarding any of the other animal s opinions. The
pigs assumed that they were more equal than other animals and began to abuse this. Since
Squealer was excellent at speaking in a way in which everyone would agree, he used this to his
advantage. In one of his speeches Squealer said, Comrades! You do not imagine, I hope, that we
pigs are doing this in a spirit of selfishness and privilege? Many of us actually dislike milk and
apples.... Day and night we are watching over your welfare. It is for your sake that we

Van Morrison s Brown Eyed Girl Song Essay
Van Morrison s Brown Eyed Girl Song
When we hear the song Brown Eyed Girl, it is safe to assume the majority of us think of the Van
Morrison version that was first introduced in his album Blowin Your Mind, released in 1967. Since
that time the song s legend and popularity have grown to unprecedented heights. Many artists have
redone the song, some with a similar music style to Morrison (like Jimmy Buffet), and others of a
completely different genre like the punk rock band Green Day. In my essay I will argue that the
stylistic differences between the two songs are not a barrier. Rather, in combination with the
similarities associating with cover songs, they form a bridge between two genres. In this case, it is
achieved by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With his lyrics and style he is able to produce a feeling with the song that is calm and relaxed.
Morrison is able to take you back to a style of music that is characteristic of the time of Brown
Eyed Girl s production, a time of happiness in his life. You can tell by the pitch and tone of his
voice that he is in an enjoyable state. He talks about the younger years of his life when he had
hardly any obligations. He sings about all that happens with the brown eyed girl, from the running
and jumping, to the activities in the green grass behind the stadium. Throughout the whole song
there is never really a time that his voice or tone is lowered to let you assume it was an unhappy
time for him. Even when Morrison is wondering where all the fun times went, singing just
overcome thinking about it, he still is able to keep a happy rhythm and tone in the song through his
voice and background music. Overall the feeling that you inherit from his song is a happy calm
feeling that many listeners enjoy.
Green Day, who surfaced in the early 1990 s, has never been known to do covers, especially of
songs with as slow a tempo as Morrison s Brown Eyed Girl. Green Day, who sings strictly punk
rock, was given the idea of covering the song by the father of one of the group members, who was
a huge fan of Morrison himself. After hearing the proposal, Green Day thought about it and knew

Covering the deficit, but also has indebtedness to bondholders as well. They should be concerned with crowding out, just because the mechanism by which investment is crowded out is an increase in the interest rate. By more sales of securities, this would cause them to raise the interest rates on the bonds to even have anybody wanting to buy them. These higher interest rates on bonds are going to discourage private sectors investment and spending and these high rates causes a reduction in the growth in capital formation, which in turn slows the growth of productivity and improvement in society s living standard. Increasing the level of spending by the present generation crowds out investments and reduces the growth of capital goods, leaving those in the future generations with a smaller capital stock leaving them not to be as wealthy as they wanted to be before because this affect. P1B Anti political dynasty Political dynasty is a well known method of politicians in the Philippines wherein the members of the family is made also a member of the government in order for them to not lose power but to gain more power. This act is an unfair and unjust because the government is not a business that a family can run by themselves, but the government is for all and other people should be given chances wherein they can be the one that leads a community. The government or politics is not a business that can be run by the generation and the generation of a family, the government is a critical part of a community having different leaders in every generation and not only one leader that has his or her family in the position of the government, because the system will not change it will just go on and on and that is not a good thing. House Bill 3587 or the act prohibiting the Establishment of Political Dynasties seeks to prohibit relatives up to the second degree of consanguinity to hold or run for both national and local office in Successive, simultaneous, or overlapping term. The quote Successive, simultaneous, or overlapping term , means that you cannot run as a politician if a member of your family or relative is still in the politics. • 6. The Effects Of Beauty Standards On Body Image The Effects of Beauty Standards Understanding the effects of beauty standards to both men and women requires research of both sexes and different orientations in regard to the influence the media has on them. While cultural standards contribute to beauty standards, media carries most of the responsibility for swaying public opinion of attractiveness. In order to find an answer as to why certain beauty standards currently exist, one must examine the root cause: media. Literature Reviewed First Group of Studies Media and Body Image. In order to prevent continued negative effects on body image by the media, it has been suggested that images that have been changed need to have labels to prevent body dissatisfaction (Slater et al., 2012). Wang et al. (2010) provided evidence that both men and women attempt to appear like the people portrayed in magazines. Men were influenced by health and sports magazines, whereas women attempted to look like the models in entertainment and fashion magazines (Wang, 2010). Participants in the Slater et al. (2012) study showed that warning labels may help prevent the negative effects of media images, as they portray an unrealistic ideal for the human body (Slater et al., 2012; Wang, 2010). Second Groups of Studies Body Dissatisfaction. The development of removing pubic hair is caused by body dissatisfaction, which relates to one s choice, physical attractiveness, and other key themes (Braun et al., 2013). • 8. Effects Of Poverty In Developing Countries Poverty is believed to be a global phenomenon and it is caused by lack of resources, war and political conflicts, natural disasters and inheritance of poverty in a country. Social discrimination is one of the many causes of poverty in developing countries. It does not only cause but also act as a hurdle in alleviating poverty. According to Pernia and Quibria (1999), poverty has many dimensions other than income or consumption. Among the other dimensions are health, nutrition, education and genderequality. UNIFEM (2000) also proclaimed that an alternative approach is used to define poverty such as lack of assets, dignity, autonomy and time apart from being elucidated as shortcomings in consumption or income. Therefore, the three effects of social discrimination that contributes to poverty in developing countries that this essay would discuss on are gender inequalities in education, gender variabilities in work force and racial background disparities. Racial background hereby means ethnicity which is categorized based on a group of people with similar traits for instance common heritage, language, cultural similarities within the group, sometimes the geographical connection to a specific place, common food and even faith (Christian, E 2017). The first effect of social discrimination that leads to poverty in developing countries is the gender inequalities in receiving education. • 15. The Weight Restriction For Muscle Mass During Resistance... Introduction Over the last few years, there has been an increasing weight lifting culture. Adepts of the weight lifting community have developed all sorts of theories and training regimens in order to optimise the gains in muscle mass during resistance training. Unfortunately, many methods developed by these adepts have not yet been proved to be efficient by any scientific studies. Luckily, some researchers have studied the responses of muscle proteinmetabolismto nutrition and exercise and have enlightened us with knowledge regarding the function and importance of certain nutrients in protein synthesis (K. Tipton Wolfe, 2001) When performing resistance training over a period of time, muscular mass can increase (hypertrophy) in response to the specific stimulus induced on the muscle fibers during the exercise. In order for the skeletal muscle to grow, net protein synthesis must occur (protein synthesis must exceed protein breakdown). Net protein synthesis is non achievable if resistance training is performed alone without the intake of certain dietary nutrients (K. Tipton Wolfe, 2001). Recent evidence has shown that an increase in circulating amino acids induced by the consumption of certain nutrients following exercise can increase the net protein balance due to stimulation of muscle protein synthesis (Tang et al., 2007). Amino acids are the basic unit of protein structure and peptide bonds link amino acids in chains that take on diverse forms and chemical ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The summary statistics for the OB Math SAT scores are as follow: the number of values is 287, the mean of the data is 553.62369, the standard deviation is of approximately 65.984512, the medianof the data is 540, the range of the data is 390, the minimum value is 360, the maximum value is 750, the first quartile of the data is 510, and the second quartile of the data is 590. To calculate the percent of students that had an SAT math score higher than 560, I used the z score formula which is z score= raw score mean/ standard deviationand plugged the values for each variable. After... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After solving for the variable and then plugged in the values and I got raw score= 0.8416 (65.984512) + 553.62369 which gave us a raw score of 609 rounded to the nearest integer. To be in the top 5% of the class a student would need to have a SAT score of around 662. I have come to that conclusion by simply converting 5 into a decimal number (5/100) and then plugging that decimal number (0.05) into invNorm in the calculator which gave us invNorm (0.05, 0, 1) = 1.6448. I then changed the number into a positive value to calculate the top 5%, and then plugged it into our raw score formula that we solved earlier and got raw score= 1.6448 (65.984512) + 553.62369 which gave us a raw score of 662 rounded to the nearest integer. To calculate the z score at the 25th percentile of the model I converted 25 into a decimal number (25 /100) and then plugged that decimal number (0.25) into invNorm in the calculator which gave us invNorm (0.25, 0, 1) = 0.6744. Then to calculate the raw score at the 25th percentile I plugged the z score 0.6744 into the raw score formula we solved earlier and got raw score= 0.6744 (65.984512) + 553.62369 which gave us a raw data value of 509 rounded to the nearest integer. The z score and raw data value at 75th percentile of the model is 0.6744 and 598. • 18. The Positive Connotation In Thou Blind Man s Mark For many people, the word desire carries a positive connotation, bringing to mind dreams of things that could be. In Sir Philip Sidney s poem Thou Blind Man s Mark, however, desire is characterized not as a wistful thing, but as a dangerous compulsion that must be stopped. Through Sidney s extensive use of figurative language and repetition, it is made clearthat the speakerclearly despises desire due to the horrible things desire can lead to. This expresses the idea that people must look inside themselves to gain true happinessrather than desiring for things that can never be. The speaker s negative attitude toward desire is established early on in the poem as the speaker compares desire to many dreadful things in an almost ironic way. Desire is first described as a blind man s mark, which creates a dark irony and sets the negative tone for the rest of the poem (1). A blind man would not be able to see his target, so therefore he would not be able to clearly aim at the target. Rather, he must shoot blindly and hope to hit the mark, which is what desire causes people to do. Desire can also be seen as a fool s self chosen snare, implying that those who desire are foolish because they chose to fall into the trap of desire rather than attempting to avoid it (1). These metaphors begin to characterize desire as foolish and something that one cannot control. The metaphors in the next line set up the speakers personal view on desire, as a fond fancy scum and dregs ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 20. Araby By James Joyce Point Of View There was no doubt about it: if you wanted to succeed you had to go away. You could do nothing in Dublin. Little Chandler proclaimed this in the short story A Little Cloud and was a common theme within Joyce s short stories. He used his short stories as a medium to reach the hearts and minds of the people in Dublin, the place he called home. Although it was his home he didn t have the fondest memories of it which are clearly present in his writing. Another frustrating cycle of hope and eventually anguish is present in Araby by Joyce. You follow the journey of the narrator who wants to buy a gift for a girl he is enchanted with from the splendid bazaar . This seems like a simple task but Joyce uses this a chance to emphasize the mentality and hopelessness of the people of Dublin. As the day arrives for him to go to the bazaar the doubt already sets into his mind. His normal morning routine was to watch out the window as the girl would emerge from her door, but on this day his uncle was in the way and he wasn t able to do it. The inability to lie at the window had a depressing effect on him while walking to school he described the air as pitilessly raw and was clearly discouraged saying already my heart misgave me . I sometimes think about how I will deal with these in my future life and how I will cope with grief and other emotions as I grow older. In her book, Option B, author Sheryl Sandberg helps me deal with moments like these. She states, Of the hundreds of answers, most had one thing in common: the majority of regrets were about failure to act, not actions that failed. Psychologists have found that over time we usually regret the chances we missed, not the chances we took. As my mom often told me when I was growing up, You regret the things you don t do, not the things you do (Sandberg 145). The lasting impression that this narrative will leave with readers includes having no regrets, living life to its fullest, and grieving is a natural emotion. Sandberg discusses how to live life without regret and deal with grief as a natural emotion that everyone will experience. When a person loses a loved one, the hardest emotional phase that we experience is grief. Within grief, regret is common by remembering the opportunities that have been lost. The second generation was characterized by the custody classification risks and parolees being classified on their risk of reoffending based on their custody classification. These early models were administered routinely but scores rarely changed because the information in the assessment was static and did not change over time (Van Voorhis, et al., 2009). Such information as the severity of prior convictions, and prior felonies did not change between assessments and led to an overly simple classification system that did not offer any options for treatment or change within offender behavior. Additionally, it was proven that the earliest risk assessment models were not accurate in dealing with female offenders because the history of women offenders is not as indicative of future behavior as it is with male offenders (Van Voorhis et al., 2008). While the original risk assessment models were helpful in achieving a basic glance at offender behavior risks, it lacked the quality assessment tools needed to not only determine whether an offender was going to be a danger while institutionalized or the community once paroled, but to fully offer options for rehabilitation. More recently, the combination of risk/needs assessments have changed the course of classification models. No longer are risks assessments conducted solely for the institutionalized but also are used to foresee new transgressions with needs that are similarly elements of offender ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This also means that, compared with air, water releases heat energy slowly when situations cause it to cool. Water s high specific heat helps organisms to regulate their body temperatures more effectively. Water vapour is a greenhouse gas, and both the capability to keep heat in and to transfer heat from the tropics serves to buffer temperatures on Earth. For example, as one half of the Earth rotates away from the sun the fall in temperature is much more gradual than it would have been if there was no water vapour in the atmosphere. As water expands when it freezes it allows ice to float on the surface which creates an insulating layer on lakes and rivers. This prevents the entire body of water and all the organisms living in it from freezing. The weak hydrogen bonding means that ice has a lot of empty space. When ice melts the frozen geometry is removed, but not all the hydrogen bonds are broken. The molecules begin to pack more closely together to fill some of the empty space. Thus, liquid water is denser than ice. Water has its greatest density at 4В°C and this is why the top of a lake freezes first. The cooler part freezes and the more dense water at slightly higher temperature sinks to the bottom. This helps to protect fresh water organisms which live in the bottom. Subsequently, retrieving the biblical and patristic evidence, Pius XII s encyclical letter introduced the image of mystical body of Christ for the Church. Overcoming the impersonality the image of perfect society has, this idea was still criticized for the exclusiveness and also a lack of historical Christ. The second weakness in her argument is that she does not explain the historical background, though she admits the fact that the mystery of the church is present and manifested in a concrete society, (P. 168) where people were at the mercy of influential ideologies, such as modernism, atheism and communism. Value of self and others is an important attribute in empowerment, and is essential for application of the concept. • 37. Comparison Of Love In The Notebook And The Time Traveler s... How do Nicholas Sparks and Audrey Niffenegger explore the ways the pursuit of an ideal love shapes human relationships? The pursuit of an ideal and perfect love and the way that this endeavor shapes human relationships is a defining connection between the characters of The Notebook and The Time Traveler s Wife, written respectively by Nicholas Sparks and Audrey Niffenegger. The suggestion of, not only desire for an ideal love but also a deep seated need for this kind of love is something that becomes very familiar to the reader in The Notebook, as it is witnessed by the fate like reconnection between Noah and Allie. Although their love has been interrupted and tampered with by outside parties, and in spite of this, their love endures and flourishes. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The setting of the home is used throughout both texts. This evokes a sense of comfort and homeliness in the reader, therefore making them proportionally more sympathetic towards the relationships of both the central couples in question and allows them to interrelate the situations in their own lives. Noah s 1946 plantation home is one that is full of life. His home is a refuge that is laden with memories of Allie. In particular, a picture of [Allie s] dreams is located in the central location of the house, see desire in . . . every stroke symbolizes the ever changing nature of their relationship, just as Allie was adding to it every day, changing it as our relationship changed . Much like Allie s painting, Henry and Clare s house in Chicago mirrors their married life, marked by ups and downs. It has seen their characters and relationships develop, at times being a safe haven where the house envelops us, watches us, contemplates us as though it were a guardian. The house, however, also sees Henry s frequent disappearances and Clare s endless longing, a love intensified by absence . It watches the many arguments, Clare s multiple miscarriages, and eventually Henry s death, morphing and altering with each new event. Through the setting of the nursing home, Sparks is able to evoke the emotions of longing, distress, and pity in the reader. It is a place of sadness and loss, with the constant reminder of an entire life, not remembered, she would stare at forgotten offspring, hold paintbrushes that inspired nothing, and read love letters that brought back no joy. This loss symbolizes the unpredictable way is which a love and a relationship can change so dramatically so quickly. Sparks is able to embed the idea that once a deep and ideal love is found, it may not remain so pristine and complete after a time. This is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. The Digital Of Digital Master In this 21st century, becoming digital is very critical for many businesses across different industries. A few companies have found their successful paths by leveraging the digital aspects of the business. Those companies who have been successful in the digital world, regardless of the industry they are in, are referred to as Digital Master . Digital Master is company who has both the digital capability and leadership capability. It is also defined as having strong overarching digital vision, excellent governance across silos, digital initiatives generating business value in measureable ways, and strong digital culture (Westerman, Bonnet, McAfee, 2014). Among all of these characteristics, a compelling customer experience and core operations play crucial roles in building digital capability. This paper is going to elaborate on the successful stories of two companies, Burberry and Asian Paints, which have created both compelling digital customer experiences and exploiting the power of core operations (Westerman, Bonnet, McAfee, 2014). Firstly, there are three things that Digital Master does differently in creating a compelling customer experience: Designing customer experience from the outside in, creating reach and customer engagement, putting customer data at the heart of the experience, and seamlessly meshing physical and digital experiences in new ways (Westerman, Bonnet, McAfee, 2014). Have you ever actually stopped to think about all the places we can see/find heroes in our daily lives? Near and far, people are performing courageous acts this second. If we just stopped to realize these everyday people, we could view the world in such a different light than focusing on the negative acts of criminals and liars. What is the real question? What is a hero, or who is a hero? Well, in my eyes, a hero is someone who surrenders more for other people than they do for themselves. This is shown in actions across the globe and across time. Throughout time, we as people create stereotypes and guidelines to provide a clear idea what the normal of something is. So what do we claim a hero is? Look at an easy stereotype in Disney. Hercules. Truly obvious, I know, but what we are looking at is the most basic stereotype: heroes are men. Helping an elderly person up stairs or across the street, finding fifty dollars and returning it, or even just helping out a struggling classmate can be viewed as heroic. Giving to other people without expecting anything in return is one more definition of being heroic. • 42. The Song Walk This Way `` By The Rock Band Aerosmith And... During the 1970s, Rock and Roll dominated the music culture and charts with some of the best hits from bands such as Led Zeppelin, The Eagles, and others, while at the same time early Hip Hop were starting up with artists such as Kool Herc and Grandmaster Flash. The genre stayed an underground phenomenon throughout the 1970s and fairly unpopular with the white audience of Rock and Roll, which held back its appearance in mainstream music until the mid 1980s. In this paper, I compare the differences in the arrangements of the song Walk This Way by the rock band Aerosmithand a cover done by the Hip Hop group Run D.M.C, and explore the music culture of the 1970s and 1980s which influence the original song and its cover version. I argue that Run DMC s progressive crossover cover of Walk This Way by Aerosmith took down the wall separating Rock and Roll and Hip Hop, legitimizing the genre s acceptability and propelling it into popular mainstream music. The 1970s, also known as the Me Decade , was a time of diversifying music. The Beatles had broken up, Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin had died from drug overdose, Led Zeppelin was Britain s most popular group, The Rolling Stones weren t active, and rock roll was branching out into various popular subgenres such as: Country Rock, Glam Rock, Progressive Rock, Punk Rock, Soft Rock, and Hard Rock/Heavy Metal. Before I began my research on being a Medical Sonographer, I already had a pretty good idea at some of the things they do. They mainly do ultrasounds on babies, to see the growth and health of the baby. They also do ultrasounds on all different people, if they re in pain and they need to determine the problem. Their job might seem easy; sometimes it is, but the other times when we discover something wrong with the patient you have to keep it in. You are not allowed to tell them what you just found out; only the doctor can do so. It s very heartbreaking for them to do baby ultrasounds because sometimes, for some unknown reason something happens to that baby and it s hard to keep that bottled up and act like nothing s wrong in front of their parents. I wanted to find out what this job requires and what kind of education i need to obtain to get a job for this career. Humans Cause Climate Change Essays Two thousand scientists, in a hundred countries, engaged in the most elaborate, well organized scientific collaboration in the history of humankind, have produced long since a consensus that we will face a string of terrible catastrophes unless we act to prepare ourselves and deal with the underlying causes of global warming. Al Gore Many misinformed people believe that extreme climate change is a natural process; something that human activities have nothing to do with. They cite events such as the Ice Age and believe that these events are part of a natural Earth cycling. Therefore, they happen despite anything that humans do. A common misunderstanding of the climate system characterizes it like a pendulum. The planet will warm ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Basic scientific concepts show that this view is naive and incorrect. The forces of the Earth do not work so that there are equal balances in the temperature chances in the world, so that they average out to be a comfortable room temperature. For example, the troposphere (the lowest part of theatmosphere) is warming, but the levels above, from the stratosphere up, are cooling, as less radiation is escaping out to space. This rules out cycles related to the Sun, as solar influences would warm the entire atmosphere in a uniform fashion. The only explanation that makes sense is greenhouse gases (Climatesight 1). Furthermore, it is clear that it is not the whole atmosphere that is heating up, only the troposphere is. The rest of the atmosphere above that is, in turn, cooling down. Clearly, the climate change is much more complex than this predicted equilibrium. This perspective accepts that climate change is happening, it agrees with the data explaining that the existing climate patterns are extremely abnormal. However it denies the fact that humans cause it as seeks other blame for it. This model simply states that climate change is a natural process and nothing to worry about because of the Ice Age. It rejects any idea that human activities and their carbon footprint could cause these problems. In fact, it argues that the Earth would be experiencing the same climate changes even if humans did not populate it. However, the scientific data clearly rejects these ... • 45. Analysis Of Dulce Et Decorum Est By Wilfred Owen, And... Man s Inhumanity to man Introduction DULCE ET DECORUM EST by Wilfred Owen, and This Blinding Absence of Light by Tahar Ben Jelloun, are both powerful texts that give the reader sympathy and strong emotional experiences. When comparing the two texts, there are multiple aspects that they share, for example they both convey a strong message on survival and what it s like to be faced with death, however the setting, symbolism and themes like hope, and the power of thought are very different. The novel This Blinding Absence of Light is set in the Tazmamart prison in Morocco, where Salim, a prisoner of war, was held captive with 18 other men for 20 years. When confined in a small, pitch black chamber, with only starchy food, sludgy water and what hope they have left, Salim and the men are pushed to their limits of survival under such harsh conditions. Throughout the novel Salim goes on both a mental and physical journey to come at peace with himself, which shapes his perspective of what life means. The text DULCE ET DECORUM EST is set in World War 1 when a group of British soldiers are attacked with chlorine gas. In the rush upon the shells of gas exploding, one soldier does not get his mask on in time. Wilfred Owen portrays in detail the gruesome effects of the gas upon this man and concludes that one may not have the same opinion after being exposed to the first hand reality of war. THE PUBLIC CONSCIOUSNESS Nowadays psychological operations are becoming an effective tool in both foreign and domestic policy. They are widely used in the sphere of international relations to ensure the voluntary submission of opponents, to promote the activities of supporters, and to maintain a high level of motivation among allies. One of the most important elements of these actions is the informational and psychological impact on public consciousness. During the Gulf WarPSYOPS effectively used to influence on public consciousness of international community and local populations. Before entering the war against Iraq in 1990, for multinational forces was necessary to explain the causes of the war to the international community. Multinational forces had to clarify to the world all reasons like: the restoration of Kuwait s lost independence (in August 1990, Iraqi troops occupied Kuwait); Protection of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Oman against possible aggression by Iraq; Protection of the freedom of global navigation in the Persian Gulf; Protection of the trampled rights of Kurds and Shiites in Iraq. In fact, employers criticize recent college graduates for the mindset they have that perpetuates the entitlement mindset. Hans Richter, Walter Ruttman, Oskar Fischinger, and Viking Eggeling were the pioneers who created absolute film, and all of them had artistic backgrounds besides Fischinger. Most cinematic projects have a story line, and something you follow through, but with absolute filmit is quite the opposite. Absolute film depended solely on the artist s vision and imagination for the film. I am not sure why Walt Disney would put an absolute film in a children s production. Even though Fantasia wasn t as weird as Mothlight, I feel like children would have a hard time being interested in a film with no characters, or plot. • 50. The Consequences Of Success In Animal Farm, By George Orwell Success is an iceberg. What you see on the surface is never the full story. Success can also be very destructive. In the beginning, it seems harmless but the more that is exposed, the more you uncover how many consequences come with it. In George Orwell s, Animal Farm, He writes about the struggles endured throughout the rises and falls of the characters in the book. Animal Farm was always doomed to fail because the absolute power corrupted the pigs, the uneducated animals were easily manipulated, and the commandments ended up only applying to the lower class animals. As the pigs began to take over the farm they got power hungry. They would sit and order the other animals around as Orwell explains in the following quote, The pigs did not actually work, but directed and supervised the others. With their superior knowledge it was natural that they should assume the leadership. This was the start of the pigs takeover. They were beginning to rule the whole farm without regarding any of the other animal s opinions. The pigs assumed that they were more equal than other animals and began to abuse this. Since Squealer was excellent at speaking in a way in which everyone would agree, he used this to his advantage. In one of his speeches Squealer said, Comrades! Van Morrison s Brown Eyed Girl Song Essay Van Morrison s Brown Eyed Girl Song When we hear the song Brown Eyed Girl, it is safe to assume the majority of us think of the Van Morrison version that was first introduced in his album Blowin Your Mind, released in 1967. Since that time the song s legend and popularity have grown to unprecedented heights. Many artists have redone the song, some with a similar music style to Morrison (like Jimmy Buffet), and others of a completely different genre like the punk rock band Green Day. In my essay I will argue that the stylistic differences between the two songs are not a barrier. Morrison is able to take you back to a style of music that is characteristic of the time of Brown Eyed Girl s production, a time of happiness in his life. You can tell by the pitch and tone of his voice that he is in an enjoyable state. He talks about the younger years of his life when he had hardly any obligations. He sings about all that happens with the brown eyed girl, from the running and jumping, to the activities in the green grass behind the stadium. Throughout the whole song there is never really a time that his voice or tone is lowered to let you assume it was an unhappy time for him. Even when Morrison is wondering where all the fun times went, singing just overcome thinking about it, he still is able to keep a happy rhythm and tone in the song through his voice and background music. Overall the feeling that you inherit from his song is a happy calm feeling that many listeners enjoy.
