The Hon gan began by addressing the spirits they serve in the form of prayer. Everyone has spirits
that they serve in this community. These spirits are usually adopted from your ancestors. For
example, my Hon gan explained to me that he adopted his spirits from his parents and he has other
specific spirits that walk with him which mean that are just with him. To continue with, in order for
the ritual to commence they needed to ask the spirits for authorization. Each one of the Hon gan
s spirits were called on and asked if he could proceed with the ritual. After they gave him that
authorization, he pulled out a powder. Powders in these rituals are generally used to amplify the
ritual. In this case, the powder was used so that the spirits can carry the message of the Hon gan.
It is the powder that allows the Hon gan to ask for what he needs. The priest blowed this powder
into the air in four directions. Then he took out a white jar candle. Traditionally white is a color
which is used to signal spiritual blessings. He marked this candle with a knife. This is done so
the spirits may have passage. Then he lit the candle and began to pray again. It is with this
prayer, that the spirit gives the Hon gan passage. The Hon gan entered this passage and lit a
lamp. This part isn t something we can physically see. But then he sprinkled powder onto the
candle which he says was sprinkling powder onto the lamp. It was at this point that the Hon gan
took the candle and placed it in the middle of a large white bowl which he placed at the center of
the room. Then he took a white stick candle and placed it in the middle of a small bowl filled
with l huile mascreti which is a Haitian term for castor oil. He then instructed the woman to keep
adding oil as necessary and to keep both candles lit for as long as it takes. Which basically meant

The Arab Israeli conflict is a battle for land between two sides. One side is the Arabian community
and the other side is the Palestinian community. The Arabians are saying that the land belongs to
them because God told them that it was their promised land or holy land. The Palestinians are
coming into the land a attempting to claim it as theirs. This conflict is insane because both
communities are killing each other almost daily. It is also absurd because they could split the land
equally instead of harming or killing each other (Virmani, n.d.).

They also deserve to have the land because it has been discovered that the Arabs are related to the
original Arabs/Israelis.
I would create a state for the Palestinians people because it would probably stop the conflict
between the two communities. I also think it would lower the amount of terrorism drastically. Also
I believe that giving Palestine a state would lower the amount of civilians dying between Arabs and
Palestinians. If we give Palestine their own state we should let the Arabs and PAlestine have their
own separate government so that each state could live the way the wanted to and they would not
have to divide the rules and then argue over that(Karsh, n.d.) (Whitbeck, 2012). I would split Israel
in half and make them share Jerusalem and split that in half so that the Arabs would get half and
the Palestinians would get half of Jerusalem although it would be difficult. I would split Israel in

would get their holy land back. Even though the Palestinians will be getting less than they have now
it will work out because they are both getting equal land and they will both have a government to

Black Elk Speaks is a book written by John G. Neihardt as well as Black Elk the Lakota healer.
This recounts the events in Black Elk s life including: Ghost Dances, Battle of Little Bighorn, and
Wounded Knee. The accounts of history in Black Elk Speaks reveals the late culture of the Plains
Indians as they were being eliminated by the America soldiers as well as American settlers pushing
into untamed territory. The Ghost Dance religion, tribal life, and reservation habitats were
portrayed very close to accurate in this book. Black Elks first hand account contributed greatly to
this. Black ElkSpeaks is constructed in an interview style of writing. The book uses phrases such
