The On The Block Chain
The public ledger is also called the block chain, which is again distributed to users, to
independently verify the chain of ownership of every bitcoin amount which approximately six
times per hour, the groups of accepted transactions between users is added to the block chain that
in turn publishes it to the nodes. Doing so allows the software to determine when specific bitcoin
amounts have been spent which is necessary, in order to prevent the double spending of currency
which eliminates the need for a central authority, something that can be thought of like a fail safe to
prevent fraud. Preventing double spending by people is necessary for the system to keep the block
chain complete, consistent, and unalterable. By making it a necessity... Show more content on

As the number becomes smaller, the longer the average it would take to find a required nonce, due
to the lower probability that a particular value will produce less than the target. This is further
solidified by the act of the bitcoin system of periodically adjusting the difficulty target so that the
average time the network needs to find a nonce is about 10 minutes. By doing this, as computer
hardware gets faster by the growth of technology regarding computer hardware over the years, the
protocol will simply adjust its mining target to make mining always last around 10 minutes thus
creating an objective regulation which does not give anyone an advantage, something the current
system is consciously lacking with the presence of day trading and the profession of investors in
general. This acts as an additional safeguard against those wishing to create unfair advantages in the
trading and production of Bitcoin and acts as almost an antivirus to prevent corruption due to
consistent innovations in the methods to corrupt. The measure, dubbed proof of work, makes any
modifications of the block infinitely more difficult because an attacker would be required to
outperform the combined power of the rest of the network which continues adding new blocks to
the original version of this block chain, something that is physically impossible in the current

Tale of Multak- A Tragic Odyssey Essay
Ben Multak Unperson stands out unmistakably from the rest of the pedantic language
denouncing my existence. The second hand on the clock was struck by lethargy as time slowed
around me. The blades of the fans overhead whooshed in the air as if to threaten me, the paper
shredder on Julian s desk seemed to gnarl at me as it devours the past of Oceania in to bits of
oblivion. Even the old coffee maker hissed and snarled as it served another cup of cappuccino .
At that moment, a sense of despair washed over me as I realized that the whole world was

I rode the elevator up to my room and looked for a bag to make travelling easier. Ordinary
citizens were not allowed to own suitcases as it was an item for travel, and everyday citizens
were advised strongly against traveling. At the corner of my bedroom lies a large black plastic

of this plan is the creation of a new identity, an identity that wouldn t be questioned while

The Detrimental Effects Of Teenage Addiction
This century is riddled with various problems and it just gets worse as these issues are starting to
affect people at younger ages. Perhaps one of the greatest issues we face is addiction. Whether the
addiction is to drugs or alcohol teenagers and young adults have been exposed to various forms of
media that say it s ok to consume the product because it is safer than other things. Communications
and Biomedicine form a sort of alliance against such advertisements using scientific data and
portraying that to their audience. Groups such as The Truth Movement or the World Health
Organization have commercials on channels directed toward a teen audience before the addiction
has a chance to take over. By performing studies on the teenage population and seeing how those
substances can have detrimental effects on young bodies. Once the group receives data they are
able to target their audience with statistics on how such drugs can negatively impact. Overall
through the use of statistics, evocative images, and by reaching various audiences an advertisement

Stellar Black Hole Essay
Stellar Black Holes
While gobbling up light and matter, a stellar black hole can also help hold a galaxy together. The
gravitational pull of a stellar black holes is so strong that even light itself cannot escape it. Even
though black holes can be dangerous, they can also be helpful. Stellar black holes are the result of
a star reaching the end of its life and then collapses upon itself.
A stellar black hole is formed when a gianormous star collapses upon itself. When a stellar black
hole forms, a supernova, or an exploding star is created as well. This supernova releases that rest of
the exploding star into space. As a result a stellar black hole is created. Once a stellar black hole is

The way that astronomers find out that there are black holes is that they look at what is
happening near the black hole with x rays. If a star gets too close to the black hole, it will
naturally pull on the star and rip it into shreds. When the matter from the star begins to move
toward the black hole, it gets faster, hotter, and glows brighter in X rays (Howell). Only stars with
the greatest masses while they are at the end of their lives can turn into black holes. Stars with a
smaller amount of mass will not turn into black holes, but will turn into less compressed bodies
and will either be white dwarf stars or neutron

The Tragedy Of The Survivor
Not many people think of death as something that can be survived. After all, death is an inescapable
aspect of life for all things on Earth. There are, however, instances where death stares one in the
face and is repelled at the last moment. Whether this avoidance is right or wrong, the outcome will
have the same, everlasting effect. The survivor will forever carry that moment with them, haunted
by the injustice done to them. Robbed of the serenity that deathmay bring from bleak scenarios, life
becomes devoid of the vibrancy it once possessed. The survivor becomes a ghostwith a physical
form, walking with the burdens of their past resting on their minds. Analyzing the events that these
people encountered with this mindset can foster a greater sense of empathy toward the survivors.
The concept of human mortality is a daunting notion that everyone has to come to terms with
eventually. This idea that the life people lead will ultimately conclude can be accepted, and is made
easier with time to digest this thought. This process though, can be taken and twisted into
something that is toxic to the mind. When someone is faced with the certainty of death and they
have come to grips with the fact that it is inescapable, it is a form of torture to take this certainty
away. What this action does is invalidate the sense of reality that has been accepted by the victim.
It takes away the feeling of euphoria that comes with the acceptance of death, the release from life s
constraints.

Why Same Sex Couples Should Be Allowed to Legally Marry
Why Same Sex Couples Should be Allowed to Legally Marry
All men were created equal. It is for this reason that gays have the same rights when it comes to
housing, jobs, protection under the law, and so on, despite their difference in sexual preference.
Well then, if gays have the same rights as heterosexual men and women, why can they not be
legally married in the U.S? That is the question that half our country should be asking themselves,
since 50% of U.S citizens oppose gay marriage. However, extraordinarily, 75% of the people in the
U.S are all for gay rights (Bidstrup). But, when it comes to marriage, for one reason or another, the
line is drawn. Gay relationships are the same as straight relationships in all aspects except ... Show

As the case with various arguments, there are all whom will take the slippery slope argument
approach in their reasoning for the banning of gay marriage. A slippery slope argument is a
point in which one thing happening will lead to another thing happening, triggering a domino
effect of negative consequences from one single action. In this case, the argument at hand would
be that along with the legalization of gay marriage comes the allowing of bestial marriage,
polygamy, and many other wrongs (Bidstrup). This tactic of scaring people of accepting the
beneficial consequences of one rational decision is absurd. In countries where gay marriage is
legal, there has been no talk of any such changes or disgusting tendencies. In many Scandinavian
countries where same sex marriages are allowed, society has remained sound (Bidstrup). If
anything, marriages between criminals and those who lack morals would lead towards the anarchy
that would occur with bestial marriages and polygamy. Those who have homosexual preferences
do not share any of the same moral defects as do the criminals that can wed freely. Society needs to
open their eyes to the normality of homosexuality and the benefits of gay marriage will be
exposed. There are those who believe that gay marriage defeats the purpose of the bonding
between two different gendered people in reproduction. The idea that gay marriage should be
disallowed because two same sex partners can t reproduce is

Child Violence Program Analysis
Overview of the program Together for Girls is partnered with the CDC Foundation and the
program focuses on three major pillars. These three strategies will allow Together for Girls to
mobilize support in effort to change the number of children who are getting abused each day. The
first pillar focuses on conducting national surveys and data. This enables the program to document
the magnitude, nature, and the impact of the certain types of violence against children (TGF, 2017).
This information will allow the government leaders, civil society, and donors to be aware of the
situation. To know how to prevent violence, it is better to understand the impact of child abuseand

The survey highlights those who are suffering from violence each year. As one of the major
pillars, national surveys and data are used to document the impact of physical, emotional, and
sexual violence against children. VACS is a data collection that helps to identify the key issues
with violence among young children. Surveys are collected from Malawi, Cambodia, Kenya,
Swaziland, Haiti and Tanzania. These datasets are prepared by the Division of Violence
Prevention at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Although it is available to the
public, permission is still needed from the respective country governments (TGF, 2017). Every
year, the program develops the stakeholder report which puts together the collected data from the
VACS. It compares the rates of sexual violence, experiences of violence before the age of 18, and
the first sexual intercourse that was unwanted from different countries (TGF, 2017). This stage of
evaluation leads to the second major pillar which is program response and development.
Campaigns and developing goal advocacy helps to build public awareness. It identifies the target
population and how often the victims were exposed to

Ambiguity In The Scarlet Letter
In the Puritan society the outlandish mindset of the leaders caused more harm than good with the
witch trials in Salem to the events mentioned in The Scarlet Letter. Sin and evil the new world
cloud the vision of the citizens, yet they are two separate actions and have different definitions.
Hawthorne explains the difference between the two in the novel and also shows off his famous
skill of questioning a society s rules, regulations, and social structure. In The Scarlet Letter,
Nathaniel Hawthorneuses his writing style of ambiguity, and ornate word choice to relay his
opinion of the puritan society. Characters, quotes, and symbols give us a snapshot of the time and

Asking For Roses Analysis
Moses Supposes, But Do You Ask for Roses:
A Stylistic and Thematic Interpretation of Asking for Roses
A rose is a rose is a rose. A rose by any other name would smell just as sweet. Love is like a wild
rose briar. Roses are known for their complex features: beauty with ferocious thorns. For this
reason, love has come to be symbolized through a rose; a red, red rose. In Robert Frost s poem
Asking for Roses, the roses are a central symbol to understanding the themes of love and
opportunity. The musicality of the poem employs stylistic choices which also contribute to the poet
s messages of the piece: Opportunities are there for the taking, but if you don t rise to the occasion,

As roses are a symbol of love, and summer time is a common time for marriages to occur, it is not
a far stretch for Tis summer again; there s two come for roses (Frost 16) to mean the two
characters may be planning a wedding. Receiving the blessing of parents is a quintessential
component of an engagement, and by the end of the poem the characters are perceived as
having gained this blessing. And grants us by silence the boon of her roses (Frost 24). While it
may be a small stretch to apply the concept of marriage to this poem, there are evidently high
signs of love present. When Mary is talking about a maid s knowledge that A flower unplucked is
but left to the falling (Frost 19), she may mean to say that a maid not married is left on her own.
She continues to point out that nothing is gained (Frost 20) if a maid is on her own. The
opportunities that marriage provides are not available to a girl unplucked. Love therefore is not
only an emotion, but also an opportunity. Through the theme of love, another theme is revealed.
Although roses show the theme of love, there is another theme present. Finding the opportunity in
love is evident in A flower unplucked is but left to the falling,/And nothing is gained by not
gathering roses (Frost 19 20). When you do not take a chance, nothing is lost, but nothing is gained
either. Roses provide the beginning connection of love and opportunity, but the theme of

A Member Of The Zygophyllaceae
A member of the Zygophyllaceae (caltrop) family, the creosote bush, Larrea tridentata, belongs to a
flowering plant family of more than 250 members worldwide, many of which are native to desert
regions. Creosote bush is abundant in three of the four North American deserts, i.e. the Mojave, the
Sonoran, and the Chihuahuan Deserts. In the United States, L. tridentata occurs in the states of
Arizona, California, Nevada, New Mexico, Texas, and Utah.
Most Agassiz s desert tortoises, Gopherus agassizii, regardless of the specific locality they inhabit,
live in a type of desert biome known as creosote bush scrub. Dominated by the creosote bush, this
ecosystem also features vegetation such as Ambrosia dumosa (white bur sage), Ambrosia salsola...

While conducting research on desert tortoise burrows, a team of scientists documented 31 species
as commensals (Walde, Walde, Delaney, Pater, 2009). However, it is likely that many more species
share the shelter of the tortoise s burrow.
With the camphor like fragrance of the resinous coating on its leaves that volatilizes when rainfall
occurs, the creosote bush imparts a fresh, pleasant smell of rain to the parched desert ecosystems
it inhabits (Flores, 2013). On the contrary, the pesticide/wood preservative creosote oil is a
petroleum based product that has nothing to do with the desert shrub creosote bush. Creosote oil is
a toxic substance distilled from coal tar and used to preserve railroad crossties, marine and
foundation timbers, and the like.
Identification
A slow growing evergreen shrub with a wide distribution in the North American deserts, L.
tridentata is first and foremost a shelter source, providing shade and cover for numerous desert
organisms, both flora and fauna.
An extremely long lived shrub, each individual plant may live as long as 100 to 200 years. The
wild creosote bush typically reaches a height of 3 to 8 feet (1 to 2.4 meters) with an equal spread.

Evaluation Of The Braden Scale Screening Tool Essay
Educational Needs Patient and Family It is important that patient and family are on the same
page with staff are fully aware of the risks of HAPUs and what they can watch for and do to
prevent them from acquiring them. The Braden Scale is simple enough that it can be used as is,
or modified to help the patient and family best understand what signs and symptoms to be aware
of, as well as the risk factors that may be modifiable or addressed early, in order to minimize
them as quickly as possible. Staff. The acute care staff will require in service training and

the Braden Scale screening tool, they will be able to have a greater success rate in properly
assessing patients who have a higher risk of acquiring HAPUs and will be able to intervene in a
timely manner before any irreversible damage is done.
Continuous Quality Improvement The issue of quality improvement should be addressed with a
multi faceted approach. Once implemented, continuous oversight and monitoring must be

Noneconomic Damages Reform Essay
Noneconomic Damages Reform There has been over three decades of debate over a reform that
affects everything from insurance and health care premiums to the prices of goods and services.
The Tort law gives civilians the right to put liability on a company and sue for a multitude of
different things if something goes wrong. A main issue of the tort reformis noneconomic damages.
Noneconomic damages are awards granted for pain and suffering. A solution to this ongoing
problem is to set a cap, or ceiling, on the amount of compensation one can receive for his or her
pain and suffering. An issue with setting caps is that they are argued against as unconstitutional and
violates the right to trial by jury (Hudson) stated in the sixth... Show more content on

According to Sherman Joyce, Victor Schwartz, and Darren McKinney of the ATRA, over 30 states
have implemented some sort of noneconomic damages reform. For example, in 1986 the Alaskan
government established a state cap of $500,000 on, noneconomic damages for cases that do not
involve any physical impairment or disfigurement. In 1997, Alaska adjusted the noneconomic
damages reform once more. In this modification of the reform, the state went into deeper detail
addressing different instances that could occur and the sufficient compensation for an
individual s pain and suffering. For a single death or injury to a greater extent of $400,000, they
are awarded as much as their life expectancy multiplied by $8,000. In another instance involving
severe disfigurement or physical impairment exceeding $1,000,000, it is the individual s life
expectancy (in years) multiplied by $25,000 (2). Many other states including Alabama,
California, Missouri, and other states have established their own type of cap or system for
awarding damages for pain and suffering. In states that have a cap or system of deciding awards,
they have lower insurance and health care premiums and the prices of goods and services stays
lower. This benefits the state s economy as well as the Nation s.
According to most news articles and journals interpreting the progression of the tort reform,
noneconomic damages reforms are the most common throughout the states. As

Back then people believed that money can be made over night just by investing. According to the
Wall Street prep website, everyone used to look up to JP Morgan, the National City Bank, because
they were the leaders of the game. JP Morgan was making a great amount of money, so great that
he personally saved the country during the calamitous panic in 1907. Banks began to use their
federal loans in order to push the stock market forward and make more money, and on black
Tuesday of October 29 the stock market crashed which was one of the causes of the Great
Depression.
Furthermore, Wall Street prep also explains that During the Great Depression, the nation s
banking system was in confusion, nobody knew what was going to happen next, with 40% of
banks failing. The Glass Steagall Act was done by the government with hopes of bringing all of
the banks back to life by creating a wall between commercial and investment banking. The
separation was made between the banks because it was time to the desire to win in investment

called the Chinese wall because they block each other like a wall.

Big 5 Mass Extinction Events In Research
Throughout the lifetime of the Earth, there have been various scientists who have hypothesized
various extinction events. The following essay will cover the five major extinction events,
otherwise known as the Big 5 Mass Extinction Events . According to Wikipedia (2016), a mass
extinction is a widespread and rapid decrease in the amount of life on Earth. Such an event is
identified by a sharp change in the diversity and abundance of multicellular organisms .
The first major extinction event is said to have been the Ordovician Silurian mass extinction, 443
million years ago, which occurred during the end of the Ordovician period, and the start of the
Silurian period (bbc.co.uk, 2014). This is the third largest mass extinction in the Earth s history,
and there were two peak dying times during this period, separated my hundreds of thousands of
years. The Ordovician is characterised by sea life, so creatures such as brachiopods, graptolites and
trilobite populations were severely diminished. An ice age is said to be responsible for the death
(endangerdspeciesinternational.org, 2011).
The Late Devonian mass extinction is well known for having one of the most drastic extinction
rates. During this extinction period, which spans over a few million years, ... Show more content on

The justification for government spending on public universities is to promote the competition for
higher skilled jobs. In a free market, most people wouldn t be able to afford the training and
education required for higher skilled jobs, and more companies would seek to outsource the low

In the short story, In the Penal Colony by Franz Kafka, we are introduced to a horrible device
that is used to torture and execute prisoners. This apparatus does this by repeatedly writing the
word of the law that the condemned person had broken into their flesh like a bizarre tattoo artist
made of pain and blood. It is both sickening and fascinating to read the account of how this
machine operates from the character named the Officer as he describes in gross details just what
this monster of metal does to someone. But, why would Kafka write about these grisly details of
blood and torn flesh? It was a metaphor for what happens when a punishmentsystem has lost sight
of reform and justice. In this paper, we will see how the machine is many metaphors of fear,
injustice and what happens when a justice system becomes one of torture and about how people
can view the system and how it may seem unfair to the common person about to face it. In the
essay, Metaphors we live by Metaphors we live by (Lakoff Johnson 2011), it states, Metaphor is
for most people a device of the poetic imagination and the rhetorical flourish a matter of
extraordinary rather than ordinary language. (page 3) When an author takes pen in hand, they make
art out of their words and take language and turn it into many extraordinary things. By doing this,
they can put hidden meaning or messages in the stories they write. Sometimes this is to make a
point about the political or social environment they see in

Why Is Gallipoli Successful
The galipoli campaign lasted from April 25th until the end of January 2016.. The campaign was
a disaster and was understood as unsuccessful. Upon arrival at Anzac cove soldiers noticed the
very steep terrain above the beach. There are many reasons why the campaign was unsuccessful.
One of the reasons is the unorganised planning and poor command. The main prolem was the
Mediterranean Expeditionary Force (MEF) as the size of the force was far too little for the
operation. Normally in warfare the attacker needs to have a bigger size team then the defender
however the MEF only hade 70, 000 men which was equivalent to one fifth of the opposing team.
Both sides kept recruiting more men however it was easier for te ottomans to get more men to

Wealth Of The American Dream
The American Dream was a white picket fence, and a four bedroom house. Children laugh as
they run from the house and play in the yard. A nice dog runs around them and barks and plays
with them. The mother watches from their porch. She gets to stay home with their family as her
husband only works 40 hours a week using his college degree. They are in no debt and own a car
they bought off the lot. The children always have new clothes and shoes. They never need hand
me downs. Now we hope that when we get home that we have enough food to make it to pay day.
Out debt piles up as we must cut another check for rent instead of paying off our loans. Our

The Old Ruins
Introduction The old ruins were enigmatic enough to catch and hold anyone s attention, those
being from 2020, with the old metal/glass boxes with silver apples painted over them in white
and old security systems that might randomly be tripped and start blaring, but nobody had been
in them since the weaponry testing, it was said that there was still some decaying quantum
particles that might sporadically release huge bursts of energy in many forms, generating
plasma spurts and possibly chain reactions. At least, according to the stories. There were other
dangers too, supposedly there were strange and twisted creatures there, and some that even used
to be human, but I didn t believe those ones, I wasn t fit for this society, I hate the laziness here,
all the indoors, I wasn t made for this place, this time, I always feel out of place, I had to escape,
to be myself, what better place to do that other than at the old abandoned ruins? I could get
caught, or blasted with a plasma geyser, or tons of other terrible things could happen, but
nothing could be worse than the cooped up life I already was forced to live. That was also why I
couldn t tell my friends, they d only hold me back, and keep me from going, that is also why I
left at midnight, and without a ve hover(too loud, easy to track, and noticeable) so I could be
unknown to the world, and use muscles rarely used by anyone anymore. Chapter 1 I knew this

To Dorothy Sonnet 130 Analysis
Stirling McKelvie Mrs. Ivey AP English IV 18 April 2015 Poetic Analysis It is a rarity for one
find poetry that recognizes that the object of one s affection is far from perfection. For instance,
My mistress eyes are nothing like the sun (sonnet 130) is a sonnet written by William
Shakespeare in the year of 1609 that appears to be filled with insults directed to his lover, but in
the end, he expresses his deep and genuine affection for her. This poem relates to To Dorothy by
Marvin Bell, which was produced in 1937. A more modern take on love as opposed to sonnet 130,
the narrator describes his admiration for his wife despite her imperfections and would be incredibly
distraught without her. The similarities of personification and... Show more content on

To Dorothy is written for his wife, Dorothy, whom seemed to be the subject of many of his
poems along with children. In the Bell s biography by Thomas Erskine and Sarah Hilbert, Bell
stated that My story since 1960 is forever woven together with the stories of Dorothy, Nathan,
and Jason. (sec. Biography, par. 3). Bell acknowledges the fact that his wife is not beautiful,
exactly but admires her individuality which makes her beautiful, inexactly (l. 1 2). Throughout
the poem, Bell compares their love to a mulberry bush (l. 3 4) and if he lost her, he would have
to have to ask the grass to let me sleep (l. 14). This means that Bell adores his wife and that she is
an important aspect of his life. If she passed away, a part of him would die as well. Notably,
personification plays a major role in shedding light on the theme of Sonnet 130 and To Dorothy .
In Sonnet 30, Shakespeare personifies his mistress s hair stating that black wires grow on her
head (1. 4). Wires certainly cannot grow since it is not living and is a humanlike quality. Also, this
attribute of the mistress relates to the fact that women are not perfect individuals as many poets try
to portray them as. This is also for the case of the breath that from my mistress reeks (l.

How Did Ww2 Affect People
When World War I ended most of the world thought that there would never be a global conflict
like it again, but some nations were very unhappy with the outcome of that war. One person in
particular was Adolf Hitler, he resented the ending of the first world war. When Hitler invaded
Poland with the German army he began the second world war. World War II had a major impact
on many different nations around the world. The beginning of the war affected the people who
lived in central Europe, while the Holocaust had a major impact on the Jewish population of
Europe and the ending of the war affected many Japanese citizens.
World War II started when Hitler backed by the German army invaded Poland on September first,

We are well within the one week countdown mark to possibly one of the most hyped series of

another Moffat series to add to his collection (which isn t a terrible collection at that).
So, what makes Series 9 that much more gripping, even before it airs? What have got Whovians

It was as if in certain episodes he was one way, then the next few he was something else. It was a
jumbled characterisation at the time.
That is all change this year, as it truly is the time of the Twelfth Doctor. The scripts have been

Paul Simon s Separation Of South Africa
In 1986, the United Nations made a grave mistake. The cultural boycott of South Africa encouraged
member states and organizations...to cut cultural, educational and sporting ties with South Africa.
The censorship silenced the voices of liberal musicians and artists who could have contributed to
the fight against apartheid. Moreover, the faulty amelioration justified UN members isolation of
South Africa. Through the release of Graceland, Paul Simon brought awareness to the state of South
Africa. By spreading their music and culture, he threatens the discourse on apartheid. In this paper, I
will argue how Paul Simon s breaking of the cultural boycott benefited the black South Africans.
Paul Simon broke the cultural boycott by bringing two cultures together through a collaborative
process. He diminished the binary of us and them by creating music beyond cultural boundaries.
When he created the album, he didn t want it to be just an African album . By doing so, Simon not
only brought awareness to African culture, but conveyed how the unification of two separate
cultures can create something beautiful. In his songs he included lyrics, which mixed African and
English words. The hegemony of South Africa wanted to control what was spoken to control
power. However, this amalgamation undermined the discourse on apartheid as those who were able

musicians the opportunity to travel abroad for music s sake. Through breaking the cultural boycott

Health Care Reform In Canada
Health care reform has been the main factor of parting between Canada and the United States, with
the different political systems of the countries influencing how the molding of the system occurs. A
Social Democratic Third Party in Canada had created the foundation of reform, the influence that a
third party had on the government of Canadawas significant (Maioni, 1997, p.415). The working
class banded together to support the third party in Canada to push for their rights in a way that the
major two parties were unable to do and unconcerned with doing, the third party that was supported
created essentially a voice that gave the working class a prominent position in their country with
concern to reform in health benefits. Within the United States... Show more content on

Beginning in Saskatchewan with the help of the Co Operative Commonwealth Federation in
coalition with the New Democratic Party holding control in the province of Sasakachwan and
acquiring great influence through the support of labour workers in other provinces they were
able to pressure the government towards reform and grasp the attention of the working class
(Maioni, 1997, p.415). The joining of an organization like the CCF and the political party of
NDP created great influence that led to the formation of universal health care by means of a third
party. As opposed to the United States who were unable to convince the organization nor the
political party to get involved in the reforms of health services, this stood in the way of reform,
the inability to form a coalition between these two groups and inability to convince them of
reforms in healthcare led to the rejection (Maioni, 1997, p.420). It was not solely an issue of the
lack of third party representation rather that health care reform was not an idea that had an
opportunity to be tested in a state under a trial basis therefore they were unable to weigh the
benefits or consequences as had happened in Saskatchewan, in which they essentially had senn how
the system worked and drew up the conclusion that that universal health care would be a benefit to
Canada (Maioni, 1997, p.421).

Importance Of Depository Receipt Is A Negotiable...
INTRODUCTION
The past few decades have witnessed the increased internationalization of various firms through
cross listings on international exchanges. This has been facilitated by market liberalisation, which
has led to greater integration of global securities markets. Cross border listing has become one of
the avenues for the integration of global securities markets.
There are two forms of cross border listing, namely, direct listing and indirect listing. Direct listing
implies that the firm concerned offers ordinary shares to the public. Indirect listing on exchanges
is through Depository Receipts (DRs). Depository receipt is a negotiable certificate issued by a
bank in a domestic country that represent ownership of shares in companies of other countries.
Cross listing, particularly through DRs such as American Depositary Receipts (ADRs) or Global
Depositary Receipts (GDRs), is a popular way of internationalisation among firms from emerging
economies. In addition to Europe and America, International firms are allowed to cross list in other
countries through the DR programme.
There could be several reasons for a domestic company to cross list, such as an expanding investor
base, the desire to improve stock liquidity through its highly liquid secondary market, the
increasing visibility of the company, a growing customer base, and the wish to take advantage of
higher valuations. From the perspective of investors, cross listing mitigates some

Essay On Treatment And Punishment
Treatment and Punishment of Crime
Angle of attack= which is more effective, treatment or punishment?
A significant question that is asked about offenders is how can they be prevented from re
offending? There have been a number of therapies and treatments developed by psychologists in
order to change offending behaviour. Three main ones are; behaviour modification (token
economies), anger management and social skills training (SST). The government have also added
measurements such as zero tolerance and imprisonment is put in place in order to stop reoffenders.

Therefore all effects of this treatment will be forgotten meaning being punished for behaviour may
be more effective in the outside world and in an institution.
Social skills training is a cognitive behavioural treatment based on the assumption that offending
is related to deficits in social skills. Techniques used in SST often vary but most involve
modelling and role play alongside instruction in skills and feedback on performance. There is a
number of studies that suggest SST leads to improvement in targeted social skills but what is
less clear is whether the improvements remain in the long term. Spence and Marzillier found
that effects are visible after three months but disappear after six and Goldstein et al found that
only 15 20% of offenders applied their skills to other situations. I feel that SST is not effective in
terms of stopping people from re offending but it is a way of helping people cope with their
emotions which more than just prisoners need to be able to do. Once someone is in a violent
situation they are not going to take time to remember and apply skills they have been taught they
will act on instinct which more than likely means the wrong actions will be carried out meaning
they will be re offending so in this case

Research Paper On Ancient African Culture
One notable aspect of the Ancient African civilization was its magnificent art; reflecting the
importance Africans placed on storytelling, the natural world, and spirits/ancestors. The Africans
used art as a way to express life and culture within their generations. They believed there was more
than a mere representation of something concrete, and that an artistic depiction of something made
it an actual fact (Bogucki). So unlike most cultures who passed on history by word of mouth, the
Africans also used forms of art to create a better picture of history.
One way that Africans used art was by telling stories about their lives to help later generations
understand more about the history and culture. Many times the African tribes would come together
and have story time. Most times the chief would tell stories of the past and draw pictures on the
cave walls to illustrate what happened. This way the tribes could hear the stories but also visual
what actually went on. These cave paintings happens to be the first known form of art that was

Lots of companies can prevent frauds from happening; unfortunately some companies do not know
when to detect frauds. By maintaining some approaches we can reach our goal of being fraud
free. The first approach, is by finding the fraud before claims are paid, that happened by combining
business rules, predictive analytics and social network analysis to uncover hidden relationships. We
can also detect frauds by reducing false positives, with an advanced scoring engine that uses
independent and combined scores including scoring of associated networks. We also have a quickly

The Problems Facing The United States
We are caught in a time of our nation s history when misfortunes, mismanagement, corruption, and
leftwing ideology come together in a powerful concurrence of circumstances that leave our once
dynamic nation at risk for disaster.
Americans are a people dependent upon a meddling, incompetent government with its foot on the
necks of its citizens. As incredible as it seems, our representatives allowed dictators and corrupt
regimes around the world to control nearly everything we need for survival. Moreover, this
administration is weak and incapacitated on the world stage, making us dependent upon the very
people who wish to annihilate us.
Dozens of pressing problems challenge America today. Unquestionably, however, the two most
urgent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There was a time when America rightfully boasted the greatest and most envied industrial complex
and manufacturing base in the history of mankind. However, that was before politicians decided to
over regulate, over tax, and enact never ending destructive legislation motivating business and
manufacturing to surrender and move to foreign countries offering more welcoming laws.
Further, national politicians signed unwise trade agreements with countries that placed the United
States in a subservient position on trade. Mega international corporation lobbyists became the
driving force for trade policy, and national security steadily suffered. Fair trade became a victim
of an ill conceived national policy and withered in the heat of backroom deals between money
brokers and politicians. The false narrative of free trade left our nation impotent in a world
offering depressed wages, fewer benefits, insignificant regulations, and lower taxes. Obviously,
good paying jobs with benefits vanished as we became less competitive.
International trade is an absolute necessity to a healthy U. S. economy. Unfortunately, big time
money speaks louder and more forcefully than common sense and fair economic practice.
Democrats and Republicans joined at the wallet with special interests, tragically left our national
security rusting away in hundreds of silent, inactive, and

Similarities Between Hyeonseo Lee And Total Control In...
Beliefs can come from what people are taught, their location, and the people they look up to
whether that is their family or their leaders. An author by the name of Aldous Huxley who wrote
the book Brave New World. A quote from this book is, One believes things because one has been
conditioned to believe them. This book is based on a dystopian society that takes place in the
future where human life is totally industrialized. Humans are being created to society s strict caste
system, the book has a theme of a dehumanized life. The two texts I have chosen to discuss are
The Girl With Seven Names by Hyeonseo Lee and Total Control in North Koreaby Jessica
McBirney. These two texts have evidence that North Korea has a lot of control over daily life
and the beliefs of its citizens, and that the country has illicit and cruel punishments for those who
break the law. North Korea has a very severe and commanding government. The government
controls every single aspect of the private and public lives of its people and the punishments for
not following their strict rules are savage and barbaric. North Korea has a complete and total
control of the citizens day to day life. The people of North Korea base their daily life off of being
loyal to and worshiping their countries and leaders. They do this by doing daily rituals to their
glorified leaders. North Korea has Mass Games which according to Kim Jong ilwere essential
because they subdued individual thought and expression. In

The Decision Making Is Defined As A Cognitive Process
Forum 2: Original post Decision Making In life individuals are faced with a continuous flow of
decisions to be made and problems to be solved. Decision making is defined as a cognitive
process in which a choice is developed regarding a belief or course of action from among two or
more alternatives (Robbins Judge, 2009). Individuals compose decisions as a reaction to a
problem, a perceived deviation linking the present condition and a desired condition (Robbins,
2009). For example, in the radiation oncology field, multiple devices are used to make treatments
more accurate, reproducible, and elevate patient comfort. These devices are used frequently so
they quickly become worn. They must be checked periodically to ensure structural stability and
compliance with infectious control regulations. Employees are given the task of examining the
devices, making decisions regarding the condition of the devices, and reporting what needs to be
replaced. Managers and employees must keep in mind that incessant replacement of these devices
is costly and can cause interruptions in patient care. Managers and employees should compose
optimal decisions regarding the care and replacement of such devices in order to be effective,
efficient, and productive. Rational Decision Making Model One process discussed in
organizational behavior for decision making is the Rational Decision Making Model. This model
employs six steps for decision making: 1.Interpret the problem. 2.Determine the decision

British Airlines and Air India
India and the UK have a great deal in common. Right from our Parliamentary system of democracy
to our judicial system, our bureaucracy to now, the common travails of our flag carriers, British
Airways (BA) and Air India (AI).
BA, according to its chief executive, Willie Walsh, is in a fight for survival much like our own
AI. As with the latter, BA has a bloated workforce, awful finances, a huge debt, all problems that
characterize AI as well. And, in an uncanny parallel, AI s latest offer of unpaid leave to its staff
mirrors a similar offer made earlier by BA.
But there the comparison ends. BA is no longer state owned, having been privatised back in 1987.
AI, in contrast, is 100% state owned. And that says it all
British Airways (BA) is the flag carrier airline of the United Kingdom and its biggest airline based
on fleet size, international flights and international destinations. When measured by passengers
carried it is second largest, behind easy Jet. The airline is based in Waterside near its main hub at
London Heathrow Airport.
A British Airways Board was established by the United Kingdom government in 1972 to manage
the two nationalized airline corporations, British Overseas Airways Corporation and British
European Airways, and two smaller, regional airlines, Cambrian Airways, from Cardiff, and
Northeast Airlines, from Newcastle upon Tyne. On 31 March 1974, all four companies were
combined to form British Airways. After almost 13 years as a state company, British

How Did Intelligentsia Play In Russian Society
Zhivago s children were the last Russian intelligentsia because the intelligentsia quickly became
absorbed by party conformism and bureaucratic materialism. The Russian intelligentsia failed to
bridge the gap between the pre revolutionary intelligentsia s ethos and mores and was hindered by
the communist experiment. Thus, the Russian intelligentsia did not transform Soviet society along
Marxist Leninist thought because intellectual discovery inherently contradicts the Soviet ideology.
Zubok s claims the intelligentsia transformed Soviet society in light of political liberalization and
cultural relaxation. However, Soviet society was transformed as Soviet citizens became
increasingly disillusioned with the communist experiment. Out of the... Show more content on

The role of the intelligentsia was clear, the expertise and knowledge of intelligentsia would cure
Soviet party and societal ills. As a whole, Soviet society wanted to move on from their Stalinist past,
however, the way in which Soviet society transformed was not state sponsored; instead Soviet
citizens were allowed to think for themselves. The Russian intelligentsia did not want to dismantle
Soviet ideology; instead the intelligentsia was searching for meaningful roles and moral values to
replace the unshakeable truths that had embodied Soviet society during the reign of Stalin. The
Russian intelligentsia wanted to create more ethical and aesthetic norms within the Soviet society.
Of those meaningful roles came self expression and individualism. In their attempt to reform the
communist experiment, the intelligentsia slowly dismantled the Soviet system through their social
networks, which were based on mutual trust and skepticism towards the official culture and
bureaucracy, assertion of civic norms, such as human rights, and greater autonomy in the judgment
of aesthetic norms. The Russian intelligentsia wanted to develop and publish their ideas in order to
further spread knowledge and thus, transform Soviet society from its Stalinist past. However, their
ideas were never grounded in anything substantial because their ideas inherently challenged the

Netflix Is Taking The Online Entertainment Rental Market
History Netflix is taking the online entertainment rental market by storm. Reed Hastings and
March Randolph began a movie rental company that required members to subscribe to rental TV
show series and movies by mail in 1997. This was the newest way to rent movies to avoid
lengthy drives and ridiculous late fees since retail stores such as Blockbuster and Hollywood
rental were almost extinct. By 2005, the company already had 4.2 million customers subscribed
to the movie service (Netflix.com). In 2007, Netflix evolved to digital technology. The company
incorporated a new streaming service plan to customers that would make the service accessible at
one s fingertips. The convenience of watching movies went from receiving and sending DVD s by
mail to viewing a large selection of movies over the internet and television. According to
Netflix.com, every year after introducing TV shows and movies on the internet, this company
advanced to a series of strategic changes in a matter of no time including: (1) rentingvideo games (2)
offering service on most digital technology devices (i.e., I Pads, Video game devices, Mobile
phones) (3) launching in different countries. In 2007, the company s financial growth increased by
more than half due to domestic and international sales. At this point, Thompson (2014) reported
about the organization, Already solidly entrenched as the biggest and best known internet

Women in the Military Essay
In Women in the Military, Janette Mance explores the debates and problems faced by the increasing
number of women involved in the military. After examining issues such as pregnancy, sexual
harassment, and rape, Mance concludes that as a society we must continue to strive for gender
equality.
From the storm lashed decks of the Mayflower to the present hour, women have stood like a rock
for the welfare and glory of the history of our country . . . and one might well add: unwritten,
unrewarded, and unrecognized.

I realized that although in theory women in the armed forces seemed like a good idea, there are
many obstacles that make that reality very difficult to achieve. In writing this paper I am not
proposing that either position is more valid or right than the other. I only hope to present each side
in an equal light to help others to understand the issues involved.
History of Women in the Military
General Jeanne Holm was one of the very first women in the Air Force to achieve the rank of
General. Although in retirement now, she still is an important military figure. Her book, Women
in the Military: An Unfinished Revolution, gives an impressive account of the roles that women
have thus far played in the military. It was my primary source when researching the history
surrounding women in the military. Due to the fact that Holm s book is so detailed and in depth, I
also used a book by Dorothy and Carl J. Schneider entitled Sound Off: American Military Women
Speak Out. This book provides a timeline detailing the major points of women s military history, so
when writing, I tried to follow that guideline.
According to Holm,
Women in point of fact, have been serving their country since it began Molly Pitcher fired her
cannon in 1778 without congressional sanction. In the Revolutionary and Civil Wars, women
fought disguised as men. In World War One. their medical services were indispensable. During the

Television Programs Can Support And Facilitate Language...
For many years, parents have relied on using educational programs to teach and engage their
children with new concepts and materials. Conversely, many children have also used television as
an opportunity for learning and language development. For example, the rise of television programs
like Elmo Street and Teletubbies demonstrates this upward trend of substituting media sources for
teaching and learning. However, despite the increasing support from parents toward television
programs, many researchers have mixed reviews on putting our children into viewing long hours
of what they considered unnecessary learning. Thus in what follows of this paper, I will focus on
explaining how television programs can support and facilitate language development. Moreover, I
will also discuss the mixed literacy support for using television as a learning tool and finally, I will
conduct a study that measures, specifically, the relationship between watching educational TV and
learning novel words. Hopefully, with these measures, I will be able to find supporting evidence
that proves educational TV can be a good predictor for word learning.
Through the years, one continuous point of debate has been whether educational TV can facilitate
and improve word learning in children. Many studies on this debate have found distinct and mixed
research outcomes. For example, one study has been Mabel s Rice Word from Sesame Street, in
which he found mixed supporting evidence that television programs can

User Side Influences On Website Performance
Connection speed
There are many user side influences on website performance but the first user side influence on
website performance is that it s very crucial to look at its connection speed that the user is
functioning on. But now there are numerous different components in which I will need to look at
to entirely clarify how the user has an influence on how good a website does but there are also a
few other reasons that users sometimes can t actually help and simply have to put up with which
will all be described in due course. The four key user side impacts on website performance as
connection speed is involved
Server Side
Bandwidth
Bandwidth is the quantity of data traffic which can be downloaded from a website per second.
The data traffic works like any usual traffic, if they are lots of vehicles on the road, it will take you
a lot longer to reach than if you were the single person driving on the road. The data traffic works
alike e.g. if they are lots of people transferring from a website all at the same time the download
speed will be much slower. Yet, if you are the only user that is copying from a website your
computer s speed would be much faster because you will be able to utilize most of the data
available to download.

Analysis Of A Night To Remember By Walter Lord
Walter Lord, the narrative historian whose books most notably A Night to Remember, a riveting
account of the sinking of the Titanic were characterized by intensive research and exhaustive
interviews, died on Sunday at his Manhattan apartment. He was 84.
Mr. Lord, a onetime advertising executive, adeptly popularized the stories not only of the Titanic
disaster of 1912 but also the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, the World War II evacuation of
Dunkirk, the Battle of Midway, the fall of the Alamo, the War of 1812 and the enrollment of James
Meredith as the first black student at the University of Mississippi.
His usual approach to what he called living history was to combine historical research with
journalistic methods, including you are there insights gathered in interviews with dozens of
survivors and witnesses to the events he chronicled.
Mr. Lord s writing technique, said Stanley Walker, reviewing A Night to Rememberin the Book
Review of The New York Herald Tribune, was based on a kind of literary pointillism, the
arrangement of contrasting bits of fact and emotion in such a fashion that a vividly real impression
of an event is conveyed to the reader.

Electoral College happens in a variety of ways. Each state decides how it selects its electors.
Currently, every state allows its electors to be chosen by popular vote. The political party
usually nominates electors at their state conventions or by a vote of the party s central
committee. Political parties select electors to recognize their service and dedication. These
electors are state elected officials, party leaders, or people with a personal or political affiliation

The On The Block Chain The public ledger is also called the block chain, which is again distributed to users, to independently verify the chain of ownership of every bitcoin amount which approximately six times per hour, the groups of accepted transactions between users is added to the block chain that in turn publishes it to the nodes. Doing so allows the software to determine when specific bitcoin amounts have been spent which is necessary, in order to prevent the double spending of currency which eliminates the need for a central authority, something that can be thought of like a fail safe to prevent fraud. Preventing double spending by people is necessary for the system to keep the block chain complete, consistent, and unalterable. By making it a necessity... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As the number becomes smaller, the longer the average it would take to find a required nonce, due to the lower probability that a particular value will produce less than the target. This is further solidified by the act of the bitcoin system of periodically adjusting the difficulty target so that the average time the network needs to find a nonce is about 10 minutes. By doing this, as computer hardware gets faster by the growth of technology regarding computer hardware over the years, the protocol will simply adjust its mining target to make mining always last around 10 minutes thus creating an objective regulation which does not give anyone an advantage, something the current system is consciously lacking with the presence of day trading and the profession of investors in general. This acts as an additional safeguard against those wishing to create unfair advantages in the trading and production of Bitcoin and acts as almost an antivirus to prevent corruption due to consistent innovations in the methods to corrupt. The measure, dubbed proof of work, makes any modifications of the block infinitely more difficult because an attacker would be required to outperform the combined power of the rest of the network which continues adding new blocks to the original version of this block chain, something that is physically impossible in the current ... • 3. Tale of Multak- A Tragic Odyssey Essay Ben Multak Unperson stands out unmistakably from the rest of the pedantic language denouncing my existence. The second hand on the clock was struck by lethargy as time slowed around me. The blades of the fans overhead whooshed in the air as if to threaten me, the paper shredder on Julian s desk seemed to gnarl at me as it devours the past of Oceania in to bits of oblivion. Even the old coffee maker hissed and snarled as it served another cup of cappuccino . At that moment, a sense of despair washed over me as I realized that the whole world was against me. As a matter of fact, the world is against me, I was to be executed soon, not only will I not exist physically; I would cease to exist in memories, and history as well. Scarier still,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I rode the elevator up to my room and looked for a bag to make travelling easier. Ordinary citizens were not allowed to own suitcases as it was an item for travel, and everyday citizens were advised strongly against traveling. At the corner of my bedroom lies a large black plastic bag which I used to dispose of garbage, thankfully there isn t any trash in it already, so I quickly put a plain navy suit and a blue tie in the bag along with an oxford penny loafer, I can t be seen with a Party overall near the border, I would undoubtedly be caught. With all my belongings packed in a black bag, I have everything I need to survive besides an important detail. A plan. A Party member dressed in overalls would not make it a mile out of London without being stopped and questioned. A wise man once said: Failing to plan is planning to fail . The most crucial part of this plan is the creation of a new identity, an identity that wouldn t be questioned while traveling. A well respected identity that people don t ask too many questions about. With the telescreen buzzing incessantly in the background, I am reminded of an identity that is present in the lives of all Oceanian citizens, a reporter. The joy of my brilliant idea was short lived as three police vehicles pulled up to the front of the lobby. Being on the fifth floor, the only other way down besides the ... • 4. The Detrimental Effects Of Teenage Addiction This century is riddled with various problems and it just gets worse as these issues are starting to affect people at younger ages. Perhaps one of the greatest issues we face is addiction. Whether the addiction is to drugs or alcohol teenagers and young adults have been exposed to various forms of media that say it s ok to consume the product because it is safer than other things. Communications and Biomedicine form a sort of alliance against such advertisements using scientific data and portraying that to their audience. Groups such as The Truth Movement or the World Health Organization have commercials on channels directed toward a teen audience before the addiction has a chance to take over. By performing studies on the teenage population and seeing how those substances can have detrimental effects on young bodies. Once the group receives data they are able to target their audience with statistics on how such drugs can negatively impact. Overall through the use of statistics, evocative images, and by reaching various audiences an advertisement company is able to communicate a certain message of either a call to action or request to quit doing something.... The gravitational pull of a stellar black holes is so strong that even light itself cannot escape it. Even though black holes can be dangerous, they can also be helpful. Stellar black holes are the result of a star reaching the end of its life and then collapses upon itself. A stellar black hole is formed when a gianormous star collapses upon itself. When a stellar black hole forms, a supernova, or an exploding star is created as well. This supernova releases that rest of the exploding star into space. As a result a stellar black hole is created. • 8. The Tragedy Of The Survivor Not many people think of death as something that can be survived. After all, death is an inescapable aspect of life for all things on Earth. There are, however, instances where death stares one in the face and is repelled at the last moment. Whether this avoidance is right or wrong, the outcome will have the same, everlasting effect. The survivor will forever carry that moment with them, haunted by the injustice done to them. Robbed of the serenity that deathmay bring from bleak scenarios, life becomes devoid of the vibrancy it once possessed. The survivor becomes a ghostwith a physical form, walking with the burdens of their past resting on their minds. Analyzing the events that these people encountered with this mindset can foster a greater sense of empathy toward the survivors. The concept of human mortality is a daunting notion that everyone has to come to terms with eventually. This idea that the life people lead will ultimately conclude can be accepted, and is made easier with time to digest this thought. This process though, can be taken and twisted into something that is toxic to the mind. When someone is faced with the certainty of death and they have come to grips with the fact that it is inescapable, it is a form of torture to take this certainty away. What this action does is invalidate the sense of reality that has been accepted by the victim. It takes away the feeling of euphoria that comes with the acceptance of death, the release from life s constraints. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is for this reason that gays have the same rights when it comes to housing, jobs, protection under the law, and so on, despite their difference in sexual preference. Well then, if gays have the same rights as heterosexual men and women, why can they not be legally married in the U.S? That is the question that half our country should be asking themselves, since 50% of U.S citizens oppose gay marriage. However, extraordinarily, 75% of the people in the U.S are all for gay rights (Bidstrup). But, when it comes to marriage, for one reason or another, the line is drawn. As the case with various arguments, there are all whom will take the slippery slope argument approach in their reasoning for the banning of gay marriage. A slippery slope argument is a point in which one thing happening will lead to another thing happening, triggering a domino effect of negative consequences from one single action. In this case, the argument at hand would be that along with the legalization of gay marriage comes the allowing of bestial marriage, polygamy, and many other wrongs (Bidstrup). This tactic of scaring people of accepting the beneficial consequences of one rational decision is absurd. In countries where gay marriage is legal, there has been no talk of any such changes or disgusting tendencies. In many Scandinavian countries where same sex marriages are allowed, society has remained sound (Bidstrup). If anything, marriages between criminals and those who lack morals would lead towards the anarchy that would occur with bestial marriages and polygamy. Those who have homosexual preferences do not share any of the same moral defects as do the criminals that can wed freely. Society needs to open their eyes to the normality of homosexuality and the benefits of gay marriage will be exposed. There are those who believe that gay marriage defeats the purpose of the bonding between two different gendered people in reproduction. These three strategies will allow Together for Girls to mobilize support in effort to change the number of children who are getting abused each day. The first pillar focuses on conducting national surveys and data. This enables the program to document the magnitude, nature, and the impact of the certain types of violence against children (TGF, 2017). This information will allow the government leaders, civil society, and donors to be aware of the situation. As one of the major pillars, national surveys and data are used to document the impact of physical, emotional, and sexual violence against children. VACS is a data collection that helps to identify the key issues with violence among young children. Surveys are collected from Malawi, Cambodia, Kenya, Swaziland, Haiti and Tanzania. These datasets are prepared by the Division of Violence Prevention at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Although it is available to the public, permission is still needed from the respective country governments (TGF, 2017). Every year, the program develops the stakeholder report which puts together the collected data from the VACS. It compares the rates of sexual violence, experiences of violence before the age of 18, and the first sexual intercourse that was unwanted from different countries (TGF, 2017). A rose by any other name would smell just as sweet. Love is like a wild rose briar. Roses are known for their complex features: beauty with ferocious thorns. For this reason, love has come to be symbolized through a rose; a red, red rose. In Robert Frost s poem Asking for Roses, the roses are a central symbol to understanding the themes of love and opportunity. And grants us by silence the boon of her roses (Frost 24). While it may be a small stretch to apply the concept of marriage to this poem, there are evidently high signs of love present. When Mary is talking about a maid s knowledge that A flower unplucked is but left to the falling (Frost 19), she may mean to say that a maid not married is left on her own. She continues to point out that nothing is gained (Frost 20) if a maid is on her own. The opportunities that marriage provides are not available to a girl unplucked. Love therefore is not only an emotion, but also an opportunity. Through the theme of love, another theme is revealed. Although roses show the theme of love, there is another theme present. Finding the opportunity in love is evident in A flower unplucked is but left to the falling,/And nothing is gained by not gathering roses (Frost 19 20). According to Wikipedia (2016), a mass extinction is a widespread and rapid decrease in the amount of life on Earth. The first major extinction event is said to have been the Ordovician Silurian mass extinction, 443 million years ago, which occurred during the end of the Ordovician period, and the start of the Silurian period (bbc.co.uk, 2014). This apparatus does this by repeatedly writing the word of the law that the condemned person had broken into their flesh like a bizarre tattoo artist made of pain and blood. It is both sickening and fascinating to read the account of how this machine operates from the character named the Officer as he describes in gross details just what this monster of metal does to someone. But, why would Kafka write about these grisly details of blood and torn flesh? It was a metaphor for what happens when a punishmentsystem has lost sight of reform and justice. To Dorothy is written for his wife, Dorothy, whom seemed to be the subject of many of his poems along with children. In the Bell s biography by Thomas Erskine and Sarah Hilbert, Bell stated that My story since 1960 is forever woven together with the stories of Dorothy, Nathan, and Jason. (sec. Biography, par. 3). Bell acknowledges the fact that his wife is not beautiful, exactly but admires her individuality which makes her beautiful, inexactly (l. 1 2). Throughout the poem, Bell compares their love to a mulberry bush (l. 3 4) and if he lost her, he would have to have to ask the grass to let me sleep (l. 14). This means that Bell adores his wife and that she is an important aspect of his life. If she passed away, a part of him would die as well. Notably, personification plays a major role in shedding light on the theme of Sonnet 130 and To Dorothy . In Sonnet 30, Shakespeare personifies his mistress s hair stating that black wires grow on her head (1. 4). Wires certainly cannot grow since it is not living and is a humanlike quality. • 35. Importance Of Depository Receipt Is A Negotiable... INTRODUCTION The past few decades have witnessed the increased internationalization of various firms through cross listings on international exchanges. This has been facilitated by market liberalisation, which has led to greater integration of global securities markets. Cross border listing has become one of the avenues for the integration of global securities markets. There are two forms of cross border listing, namely, direct listing and indirect listing. Direct listing implies that the firm concerned offers ordinary shares to the public. Indirect listing on exchanges is through Depository Receipts (DRs). Depository receipt is a negotiable certificate issued by a bank in a domestic country that represent ownership of shares in companies of other countries. Cross listing, particularly through DRs such as American Depositary Receipts (ADRs) or Global Depositary Receipts (GDRs), is a popular way of internationalisation among firms from emerging economies. In addition to Europe and America, International firms are allowed to cross list in other countries through the DR programme. There could be several reasons for a domestic company to cross list, such as an expanding investor base, the desire to improve stock liquidity through its highly liquid secondary market, the increasing visibility of the company, a growing customer base, and the wish to take advantage of higher valuations. From the perspective of investors, cross listing mitigates some ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A significant question that is asked about offenders is how can they be prevented from re offending? There have been a number of therapies and treatments developed by psychologists in order to change offending behaviour. Three main ones are; behaviour modification (token economies), anger management and social skills training (SST). The government have also added measurements such as zero tolerance and imprisonment is put in place in order to stop reoffenders. Therefore all effects of this treatment will be forgotten meaning being punished for behaviour may be more effective in the outside world and in an institution. Social skills training is a cognitive behavioural treatment based on the assumption that offending is related to deficits in social skills. Techniques used in SST often vary but most involve modelling and role play alongside instruction in skills and feedback on performance. There is a number of studies that suggest SST leads to improvement in targeted social skills but what is less clear is whether the improvements remain in the long term. Spence and Marzillier found that effects are visible after three months but disappear after six and Goldstein et al found that only 15 20% of offenders applied their skills to other situations. I feel that SST is not effective in terms of stopping people from re offending but it is a way of helping people cope with their emotions which more than just prisoners need to be able to do. Once someone is in a violent situation they are not going to take time to remember and apply skills they have been taught they will act on instinct which more than likely means the wrong actions will be carried out meaning they will be re offending so in this case ... Research Paper On Ancient African Culture One notable aspect of the Ancient African civilization was its magnificent art; reflecting the importance Africans placed on storytelling, the natural world, and spirits/ancestors. The Africans used art as a way to express life and culture within their generations. They believed there was more than a mere representation of something concrete, and that an artistic depiction of something made it an actual fact (Bogucki). So unlike most cultures who passed on history by word of mouth, the Africans also used forms of art to create a better picture of history. One way that Africans used art was by telling stories about their lives to help later generations understand more about the history and culture. Many times the African tribes would come together and have story time. Most times the chief would tell stories of the past and draw pictures on the cave walls to illustrate what happened. This way the tribes could hear the stories but also visual what actually went on. These cave paintings happens to be the first known form of art that was found in ancient Africa (Rhea). ... This book is based on a dystopian society that takes place in the future where human life is totally industrialized. Humans are being created to society s strict caste system, the book has a theme of a dehumanized life. The two texts I have chosen to discuss are The Girl With Seven Names by Hyeonseo Lee and Total Control in North Koreaby Jessica McBirney. These two texts have evidence that North Korea has a lot of control over daily life and the beliefs of its citizens, and that the country has illicit and cruel punishments for those who break the law. North Korea has a very severe and commanding government. The government controls every single aspect of the private and public lives of its people and the punishments for not following their strict rules are savage and barbaric. North Korea has a complete and total control of the citizens day to day life. The people of North Korea base their daily life off of being loyal to and worshiping their countries and leaders. • 46. The Decision Making Is Defined As A Cognitive Process Forum 2: Original post Decision Making In life individuals are faced with a continuous flow of decisions to be made and problems to be solved. Decision making is defined as a cognitive process in which a choice is developed regarding a belief or course of action from among two or more alternatives (Robbins Judge, 2009). Individuals compose decisions as a reaction to a problem, a perceived deviation linking the present condition and a desired condition (Robbins, 2009). For example, in the radiation oncology field, multiple devices are used to make treatments more accurate, reproducible, and elevate patient comfort. These devices are used frequently so they quickly become worn. They must be checked periodically to ensure structural stability and compliance with infectious control regulations. Employees are given the task of examining the devices, making decisions regarding the condition of the devices, and reporting what needs to be replaced. Managers and employees must keep in mind that incessant replacement of these devices is costly and can cause interruptions in patient care. Managers and employees should compose optimal decisions regarding the care and replacement of such devices in order to be effective, efficient, and productive. Rational Decision Making Model One process discussed in organizational behavior for decision making is the Rational Decision Making Model. This model employs six steps for decision making: 1.Interpret the problem. 2.Determine the decision ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
