Vibraphon s Influence On Jazz Music
1. I think the biggest element that made this song unique is the use of counterpoint. Counterpoint is
the use of two or more melodic lines of equal importance. During the course of the song, no one
melody sounds like the main melody, and are all of the same significance. I think this would have
upset many of the jazz purists, as it was such a change from traditional jazz music.
2. A vibraphone is a instrument with resonator tubes suspended below aluminum bars to create a
natural reverberation of the sound. Lionel Hampton was one of the first jazz performers to play this
instrument. I believe the vibraphone solo starts at 1:09 and lasts till about 1:50, most prominently and
again from 2:15 to 3:00.
3.I think that one of the techniques

The Importance Of Inclusion In Schools
Inclusion is catering for every child s needs, spiritually, academically, and individual situations. It is
valuing and considering all individuals and giving them equal opportunities. Making every individual
feel included within themselves and also groups. All children want to feel like they belong. It is to
endorse the impression that everyone should be freely and happily accommodated without limitations
or restrictions of any kind. So why is inclusion important in diverse classrooms?
Inclusion is important for many reasons. Inclusion gives students opportunities for friendships so they
feel more welcome. It helps the students become more outgoing and opens up their personality and
attitudes. Students learn more effectively without feeling left out or abandoned. They also learn about
empathy and the importance diversity and that everyone is different. Inclusion prepares the students
for adult life, and also different learning environments. Students develop a way that they can
communicate with other students and also students with disabilities. They develop many
communication skills and social skills to use in everyday life. These are just some of the reasons why
inclusion is important.
The UNESCO Salamanca Statement policy includes the approach of inclusive schools by applying
strategic changes. Strengthening their approach to more efficient support in special needs. By
receiving support from teachers, teacher unions and associations and also motivate the community to

India s Influence On India
India is a well known country that is located in Southern Asia, between Burma and Pakistan while
bordered by the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal. Distinguished with a long history, it is known that
the north western Aryan tribes came to settle with the Dravidian tribe during 1500 B. C., thus creating
what is now known as India ( Central Intelligence Agency , 2007). India is a high ranking country that
has made its mark in history, which has shaped the world today. From their love of culture, respect and
inner nature of purity and modesty to the influence in knowledge of Technology, Science and Music,
India is considered the mother of cultures. Even as a growing partner to various thriving countries,
they are still at the top of the pyramid. The first area of interest is the political structure of this country.
Great Britain had control over India for some time until 15th August, 1947 when they gained
independence. Almost three years later when the Constitution of India came into effect and, therefore,
India became a Republic on 26th January, 1950. India is the largest practising democracy in the world,
with elections at every level based on universal adult suffrage. General elections are normally held
every 5 years. Today, the Union of India comprises 29 states and 6 union territories with the Central
Government at New Delhi, the capital of the country. The political structure laid down by the
Constitution is federal in nature but unitary in spirit, with

Explication Of The Raven By Edgar Allan Poe
Holly Hecox Perdue English Composition II 28 February 2016 Explication: The Raven by Edgar
Allan Poe Through the use of an un named narrator in his poem entitled The Raven , Poe darkly
conveys feeling understood by many: hopelessness, lost love, and death. The poem follows the un
named narrator, as he reflects on, as well as struggles with, the realization of his lost love, Lenore.
Like many, he tries to detract his overwhelming feelings for Lenore by investing his time in studying
books. Despite his greatest efforts, he is unsuccessful. Much to his surprise, his solitude is interrupted
by an unanticipated visitor. Throughout the poem, Poe uses imagery, tone, symbolism, and rhyme as a
means of conveying his overall themes of undying devotion and lingering grief. Around midnight on a
bleak December night, a weak and weary man is reading while nearly napping . He reads as a means
of nullifying the sorrow he feels for the lost Lenore . Suddenly, he is jolted alert by some visitor
tapping at his chamber door. The lonely man tells himself Tis some visitor and nothing more , but as
he widely opens his chamber door, he finds darkness there and nothing more . Staring into the
darkness, the narrator dreams about the impossibilities of his lost love, and even whispers her name;
Lenore . Upon returning to his chamber, a stronger tapping, at the window, is catching his attention.
Courageously exploring the noise, he is amused and relieved when a raven flies in from

Quotes On Dehumanization In Night
Although Eliezer survived the bloodcurdling Holocaust, countless others succumbed to the Nazi s
inhumanity. The Nazi s progressively reduced the Jewish people to being little more than things which
were a nuisance to them. Throughout Night, dehumanization consistently took place, as the Nazis
oppressed the Jewish citizens. The Germans dehumanized Eliezer, his father, and other fellow Jews
for the duration of the memoir Night, which had a lasting effect on Eliezer s identity, attitude and
outlook. Wiesel displays the Nazi s vicious actions to accentuate the way by which they dehumanize
the Jewish population. The Nazis had an abundance of practices to dehumanize the Jews including
beatings, starvation, separation of families, crude murders, forced labor, among other horrific actions.
Even though Eliezer was able to persevere, he was dehumanized by the Nazi s in an atrocious and cold
blooded fashion. When a human is emotionally and physically stripped of their pride, it weakens his
or her will to live. The Nazis targeted the Jews humanity, and slowly dissolved their feeling of being
an independant human. Elie Wiesel states He took his time between lashes, only the first really
hurt...twenty four...twenty five. It was over. I had not realized it but I had fainted. (Wiesel 62). In the
case of the Jews doing anything askew, they were to be punished in barbaric ways. This whipping by
the Nazi s had a drastic affect on Eliezer s identity, because before his punishment Eliezer had not yet
altered his inquisitive mindset. Eliezer was at the wrong place at the wrong time, and as a result he
was thrashed and trounced on by one of the German soldiers. This traumatized Eliezer and brought
fear upon him, changing his attitude.
The Nazi s not only dehumanized Eliezer, but they reduced his father from a human being into a thing
that was merely a nuisance. The Nazi s believed that they were on a higher level than the Jews, so they
tried to take whatever dignity the Jews had remaining. Wiesel proves this when stating he slapped my
father with such a force that he fell down and then crawled back to his place on all fours (Wiesel 39).
The instant that the officer hit Eliezer s father, Eliezer was in utter shock. His

Essay on Linking Eating Disorders With Genetics
While Bulimia is known by many names, the term bulimia did not enter the English language until the
1970s, perhaps representing lingering uncertainty about its essence (Gordon, 2000). Bulimia, as we
know it, is a modern disease, however, there is some evidence of binging and purging in ancient times;
for example, in ancient Egypt, physicians would recommend periodical purgation as a health practice
(Gordon, 2000). There has also been documentation of wealthy families in the middle ages vomiting
during meals in order to continue eating large amounts of food. At this point, you may be wondering
why these examples are not considered Bulimia Nervosa. According to Dr. Richard Allan Gordon,
author of Eating Disorders: Anatomy of a Social ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is now defined as Recurring episodes of eating significantly more food in a short period of time than
most people would eat under similar circumstances, with episodes marked by feelings of lack of
control.... The person may have feelings of guilt, embarrassment, or disgust and may binge eat alone
to hide the behavior . It is important to note that there is a difference between over eating and binge
eating, while over eating is a recognizable problem for many people, binge eating is much less
common, far more severe, and associated with significant physiological and psychological problems
(DSM 5). Binge Eating Disorder is similar to Bulimia Nervosa in that we see episodes of eating large
amounts of food, the difference being that there is no purging after the binging episode. It is seen
highly among obese patients, but, perhaps due to a reluctance to relate obesity with an eating disorder,
it was not recognized as distinct from Bulimia Nervosa until the early 1990s (Gordon, 2000). Some of
the first documented cases of Anorexia Nervosa were religious in origin. As early as the 12th century
we saw women, particularly in Western Christianity, known as Miracle Maidens who were highly
esteemed for their self control, their holy anorexia was thought of as a gift from God. Some scholars
have stated the intense relationship

Differences Between Monarchy and Democracy
Differences between Monarchy and Democracy
1. Democracy is a type of government that emanates from the constituted powers that are elected,
depending on the system (presidentialist, parliamentary, constitutional monarchy, semi presidentialist,
semi parliamentary, etc...) directly or indirectly by the people. Whereas in an absolute monarchy, an
absolutist regime exists and is in power because of family lineage.
2. In democracy three state powers(in most cases) exist as a checks and balances system, these being
the judicial, executive and legislative as it was enunciated in Montesquieu s Of the Spirit of law. And
they are independent, complementary and with no relation of subordination. Whereas in an absolute
monarchy, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

just the laws of the king.

[ 1 ]. Difference b/w a military government and a monarchy: In a monarchy the King or emperor is a
civilian or a military that was entitled to the position of monarch by inheritance, whereas in a pure
military government the armed forces of a country assume power by the means of a coup d etat.
[ 2 ]. Exempli gratia; in Hungary and in Republic of China, even though they are not completely
democratic, fit as an example for they are semi democratic, the first one has 4 branches (executive,
judicial, legislative, and the attorney general). China has five branches(Executive yuan, legislative
Yuan, judiciary Yuan, Control Yuan, and Examination Yuan). Also, is important to mention the
difference between powers or branches and bodies. Powers are the ones that control one specific social
role, verbi gratia, the judiciary controls the courts, but bodies serve a specific function under a power
or branch. An example to serve this is Germany that has three brances( executive, judicial and
legislative) but

Toxic Mold Research Paper
Whom to Sue When It Comes to Toxic Mold Exposure Toxic mold is one thing that you should never
take lightly. Even though there are thousands of mold breeds, and though most of them are harmless,
the few that are toxic are seriously dangerous. Not only can toxic mold hurt you, your family and
cause heavy expenses in medical bills, but the cost to remove mold from your house is extensive as
well. Since mold in a building is not your fault, you should not have to pay the removal cost, or
possibly even that of the medical expenses. So whom you have to sue to get it covered? To find out,
you need to ask yourself some questions: Where Were You When the Mold Affected You? First of all,
you have to determine where the mold occurred, so that you can deduce where the blame lies. You
have to consider your regular routine, and the conditions in said places that may have facilitated
exposure to harmful breeds of mold. Here are a few examples of places where mold may have
occurred, along with some of the probable guilty parties: ⦁ ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

your workplace. This could be due to similar damages in the building where you work, which means
that you would take the court action against your employer for endangering his or her employees. This

Communication and Conflict
In today s workforce communication and conflict resolution are paramount to a successful
organization. As with any leadership trait, these skills must be developed and regularly practiced by
leaders. There are many skills involved in both the communication process as well as with conflict
resolution. According to Schermerhorn, the communication process is a simple process of sending and
receiving messages with attached meaning (2005). The process is further defined by having three
elements, those being a source, a receiver and in some instances feedback. Conflict resolution
according to the text, is a situation in which the underlying reasons for a given destructive conflict are

There are several types of conflict resolution available, with each style being appropriate for different
situations. The five types of conflict resolutions mentioned in

The Vietnam War and Events Leading up to the War Essay
The Vietnam War has roots from ancient Vietnam s rule by colonial and imperial powers. In 1407
China ruled ancient Vietnam, then in late 1800s France took control and established Indochina. In the
late 1800s, Nationalist movements began. They wanted more self governance and less French rule.
The main movements were held by the communist leader Ho Chi Minh, the founder of the militant
nationalist organization the Viet Minh. During WWII when France was occupied by Nazi Germany, it
lost its hold in Vietnam, and Japan took control of Vietnam. The Viet Minh resisted the Japanese and
extended its power throughout Vietnam. When the Japanese surrendered at the end of WWII, Ho Chi
Minh took the capital of Hanoi and declared Vietnam an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The new leader ended up being just as corrupt and ineffective. JFK s, successor Lyndon B. Johnson,
promised to fulfill JFK s commitments and keep the USA fighting in Vietnam to a minimum. After
North Vietnamese forces allegedly attacked US Navy ships in the Gulf of Tonkin in 1964, Johnson
began to send troops to Vietnam. After Johnson s Americanization of the war, there were nearly
400,000 US troops in Vietnam by the end of 1966. As the United States became increasingly caught
up in Vietnam, it followed the strategy of wearing away at the communist forces, attempting to bury
them under a storm of casualties, however, the Viet Cong s guerilla tactics, such as booby traps and
mines, demoralized the USA troops, leading to the use of unconventional weapons like napalm and the
Agent Orange. Napalm is a very flammable gel that burns the skin and rapidly deoxygenates available
air, causing suffocation. Agent Orange is a herbicide defoliant. A defoliant is a chemical sprayed on
plants to cause its leaves to fall off. Agent Orange s primary objective was to reduce the dense jungle
undergrowth to prevent the Communist forces from using it as cover. The secondary objective was to
drive civilians into Southern Vietnam controlled areas. About 4.8 million people were exposed to
Agent Orange, resulting in about 400,000 deaths and 500,000 children born with birth defects.

The American Dream By Mike Keefe
The American dream is the belief that anyone that lives or that comes to America has the chance to be
rich if they work hard enough. However American dream an unattainable dream because it never
existed. Mike Keefe an American editorial cartoonist of American Pipe Dream uses numerous
techniques to convey the message that the American dream is an optical illusion. In reality most
American live with student loans that they cannot pay because they of under employment, which
causes them credit card debt. Techniques such as the position of people and objects, race and facial
expression are used to show the American dream is mirage.
America is known as the land of freedom and opportunity. A country where a person s background
race, religion and gender does not affect a person s dream. In whatever way this American dream is
dead in fact it never existed. The text at the left corner has a precise description of what the American
dream truly is, The American pipe dream with attached mirage. Americans have to get an overpriced
education, have huge school loans, get underpaying jobs, which will cause them to have credit card
debt, which will take their rest of their life to fix. This means they can not buy house, cars or anything
because in America a person s credit score determines whether that person will get anything in life.
Even with all of these obstacles Americans are told to achieve a dream that is an illusion created by
the fading people that belief that the future

A Comparison Of Louis Pasteur And Charles Darwin
The scientific revolution in our life cannot be denied in any way or neglected at present. The use of
scientific inquiry method has changed the way we perceive, think, experience and analyze our
surroundings. Before scientific discoveries or scientific revolution, religion has had an essential
dominance in people s life. People had many difficulties to know and believe the reality of their
surroundings. We cannot donate discoveries of past as touchstones, but these are pillars which provide
a base for further development and inventions in each field of the life (Haven, 2006).
We find many renowned and scholastic gens in the past like Nicholas, Louis Pasture, Sir Alexander

The film Bringing Up Baby (1938) and the film Annie Hall (1977), respectively directed by Howard

On technique that he utilizes amazingly gave the audience the feel of being with the character. This
technique is called a tracking shot. Tracking shots, according to Hayward (2013), are cameras that
follow a person or an object by physically moving with the subject. There is one scene is the movie
where he uses this technique, and the audience feels that they are in the scene with the characters. It is
when David Huxley is meeting with Mr. Alexander Peabody to talk about the opportunity of having
one million dollars donated to his museum, The Stuyvesant Museum of Natural History, where he is
working on completing a skeletal reproduction of a brontosaurus. In this scene, he utilizes the long
shot of the four men after they have stopped walking, combined it with the tracking shot itself, and
comprises the master shot, which is also mandated by the classical style (Bordwell, Staiger,
Thompson, 1985). Since the tracking of the camera did indeed continue on for a few feet after the men
had stopped, Hawks helps to establish a better use of space within the frame. By lengthening the shot
from a long shot to a longer shot, the audiences not only gets to see the men and the golf course, the
audience can now get a better sense of where they are situated on the course itself as well. Hawks use
a tracking shot to develop a connection between the audience and the characters in the

Donald Trump Informative Essay
Most people in this country know that Donald Trump has a problem with telling the truth. He is not
honest nor is he trustworthy and he definitely is not shy about making things up, even when they can
easily be proven false. In fact, that is what he has done just last week. According to Trump, he
received two awesome phone calls in the last week. The first one came from the Boy Scouts, telling
him what a great job he did at that speech, and how much everybody loved it, that it was just one of
the greatest things they have ever seen in their life. The second phone call he claims he got was from
the President of Mexico, congratulating him on what a wonderful job he is doing on border security
here in the United States. They just love it down there. Donald Trump s just the greatest guy that ever
lived and everything is just great... Yeah right.

My Wrestling Experience
Wrestling has been a huge aspect and a great experience of my high school career. Wrestling has
taught me a lot over the past three years from hard work all the way to ethics. But the most important
thing has taught me morph my failure into success. That with hard work anything may be achieved.
My freshman year I was really overweight and could not keep up with any of the intense exercises we
would do. I did not win a single match all year and basically did not improve all year. The worst part
is that some of my wrestling peers told me to just quit. That I would never improve and not do well at

endurance so that I could keep up with the intensive exercises. It felt amazing to be able to keep up
with everything. First tournament comes around and I am pumped because I had put in all the work
and pushed myself everyday. First day I lose both of my matches and puts me into the loser s bracket.
The next day I lose 3 straight matches. I had become really frustrated because I was giving it my all
and I still couldn t win a single match. My final match comes up and I win it. I had this surge of joy
jumping inside of me but on the outside I still had my wrestling face on. My coach taught me to
always get up and shake your opponent s hand even if you lose. I had that down. But he also taught
me that when you win you act as if you had done it a thousand times. I headed back to the stands and
my whole team was congratulating me. That was an amazing feeling, finally being able to celebrate a
win. My friends were right after all. I am currently in my fourth year in wrestling and I have improved
drastically. All the failure I had experienced as a beginner, taught me a life lesson. That failure is a vital
step to success. Without the experience of wrestling I would have never learned this valuable

Summary Of A Public Service Announcement
A Public Service Announcement (PSA) pops up on television of a young woman, frail to the bones,
staring at you with beaten eyes, devastated by poverty. The next scene of the PSA shows the same
women handcuffed and being led through the gates of the local county jail. This scene plays out
everyday of prisoners that have come from from difficult, impoverished backgrounds. Bryan
Stevenson chronicled the lives of numerous poverty stricken prisoners during his time as a non profit
lawyer in Montgomery, Alabama. Co founder of the Equal Justice Initiative, Stevenson focused on
how his organization could help change the unjust and discriminatory justice system. In Bryan
Stevenson s book Just Mercy, poverty affects the lives of those sentenced for criminal activity due to a
lack of adequate and available legal, social, and medical resources.
Stevenson described many impoverished families who could not afford lawyers that had the
background and knowledge needed to try their cases successfully. Without the effectiveness of a
strong attorney, prisoners were forced to plead guilty due to an inadequate defense and information
provided by their lawyers. In addition to lack of information given, lawyers were not spending
adequate time on the poverty related cases. With a quick trial time and all the information not being
exposed, condemned prisoners were forced to go for a guilty plea. Bryan Stevenson got a firsthand
look at unjust resources the impoverished prisoners

Types And Diagnosis Of Depression
In a world today where antidepressant medications seem to be handed out like candy, could it be that
not every person who says they are depressed needs medication? Is a full on antidepressant the best
solution for a person who is displaying the symptoms of a very mild form of depression? In order to
explore this topic more fully, we must establish the definition and diagnosis of depression. According
to the DSM V, depression is defined and diagnosed with at least five of the following symptoms
during a two week period: Depressed most of the day, nearly every day Markedly diminished interest
or pleasure in all or almost all activities most of the day nearly every day Significant weight loss/gain
or increase/decrease in appetite when no dieting is present Insomnia or hypersomnia nearly every day
Psychomotor agitation or retardation nearly every day Fatigue or loss of energy nearly every day
Feelings of worthlessness or excessive or inappropriate guilt Diminished ability to think, concentrate,
or indecisiveness nearly every day Recurrent thoughts of death, recurrent suicidal ideation without a
specific plan, or suicide attempt or a specific plan for committing suicide
These symptoms cause clinically significant distress or impairment in social, occupational, or other
important areas of functioning. The symptoms are not due to the direct physiological effects of a
substance or a general medical condition (American Psychiatric Association, 2013).

Symptoms Of Colorblindness
Colorblindness is a disorder that results in a decrease in function of the mechanisms that allow the eye
to see colors. These symptoms usually result from a mutation that interrupts the development of the
retinal cones. Cones are photoreceptor cells that response best to bright light and serve to discriminate
colors. There are three different types of cones each with different pigments blue, green and red
(Deeb). Blue cones are able to absorb light with a short wavelength around 420nm; green cones are
able to absorb light with a middle wavelength around 530nm, and red cones are able to absorb light
with a long wavelength around 560nm (Deeb). Working together these cones are able to discriminate
between the colors we see. The genes responsible

She had left college and worked hard to build up some cash to take on her first bar. This had been a

Nikki unsurprisingly also had done well for herself and settled down with Dan a big, handsome guy

DATA COLLECTION TECHNIQUES
Data collection techniques Data collection is a very essential aspect in all research studies. Normally,
inaccurate data collection methods tend to have a very big impact to the results of the study and this
eventually leads to invalid results. The data collection techniques in many cases vary along a
continuum, for instance at one end of the continuum are the quantitative methods and techniques
while of the other side are the qualitative techniques for data collection (Kuada, 2012). In both
qualitative and quantitative techniques, there are there are various methods used for data collection. In
qualitative research for instance, the various data collection techniques used include interviews,
observations, and focus group discussions among other techniques. In this case, however, the most
appropriate techniques especially in the qualitative research are focus group discussions and
interviews on the other hand.
Interviews
Focusing on interviews as a qualitative method, it comprises of structured, semi structured as well as
unstructured interviews. The structured interviews are largely verbally administered questionnaires.
Usually predetermined questions are asked, the questions have no variation, and they have no scope
especially for follow up questions

A Clockwork Orange Dystopia
In today s society, there is an evil that hides in the minds of rulers, governments even everyday people.
This evil lies in the crimes committed by thousands of people each year, the corruption of
governments, and the suffering of innocent people. The laws and regulations that we live by today are
put in place in order to prevent crime from encompassing everything people hold dear to stop the bad
people. In the story of A Clockwork Orange the narrator, Alex, gives us a criminal s view of the world.
Throughout the course of three years, Alex takes part in numerous robberies, murders and rapes
people of all ages. In his mind, the disturbing acts he commits fill him with satisfaction and pleasure.

By Rebecca Solnit, I have come to realize that my modern day life is not far from that of Alex s.
Throughout the process of reading this book I was shocked many times by the everyday acts of evil
against innocent people. It is sad to know that they are so common in our world today. Acts such as
robbery, rape and murder happen every day, and they don t always just take one thing from the
victims. As Alex often shows us, during the process of evil acts the victims are dehumanized and
beaten. The laws and regulations put in place today are supposed to protect people from ever
experiencing these horrid acts, yet even in Alex s story, little justice is done for those who suffer.
Society brings out the best and worst in people and often puts people in desperate situations, allowing
the darkness to come forth. People have become selfish, cold and heart less without a care for the
people around them. Our society and government today have created monsters and have done so
without giving any type of cure or proper treatment to bring them back into the light. The darkness
and evil that had consumed Alex is the same as the darkness that is in our very world today. The world
of darkness is breaking through the fake seams of society that present a false picture of happiness, and
if our government and people all over the world do not make a change, it will consume us

Sepsis Case Study Essay
There are many complications that can occur from other illnesses and in all attempts, the healthcare
team tries their best to prevent these complications in every circumstance as possible. One of these
complications that can arise from an illness including sepsis. Sepsis is known as a systemic infection
that is located within the blood and can invade every organ and tissue in the body. If the infection is
not treated in time or cannot be controlled, it can progress to septic shock and eventually to multiple
organ dysfunctional syndrome. Sepsis is a serious infection and the mortality rate has increased by
50% due to a delay in seeking medical attention with an infection (Davis, 2014). Once a localized
infection has invaded the tissue where ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These patients are more at risk of developing sepsis because their immune system may not have the
capacity to fight off the infection as the rest of the population (McClelland, 2014). If sepsis develops
in a patient, especially a patient who is more at risk, it is important for the nurse to recognize that an
infection has developed such as redness, swelling, fever, and drainage. The nurse should assess the
patient for possible signs and symptoms of infection including a urinary tract infection, infection in a
wound either from diabetes or a surgical wound and presence of a respiratory infection (Bernstein,
2013). An infection can occur anywhere in the body and completing an assessment is important when
there is an infection present. If the infection is ignored or not treated, it can become systemic. A
systemic infection will destroy the tissue and can eventually reach the blood stream causing a fever,
increased heart and respiratory rate, decrease in blood pressure, increase in blood glucose, altered
mental status and a severe increase or decrease in WBC. Once treatment has been initiated, how the
body responds to the treatment will depend on the severity of the sepsis. If the body does not respond
to the rapid fluid replacement or other measures to sustain life, then the patient is in septic shock

Divergent Movie Analysis
Introduction: Divergent is an action film directed by Neil Burger. This film takes place in Chicago,
which is placed in a futuristic world where society divides people into five factions based on their
personalities. As each person grows up and becomes an adult they have to choose a faction which they
will stay in for the rest of their lives. Beatrice Prior is the main character in Divergent and she changes
a lot throughout the film, starting off as not knowing who she is and why she isn t like everybody else.
To finding out and learning who she is and becoming more confident in herself. The director uses a
variety of different film techniques including close ups, and wide shots to show how Tris is feeling,
and how she is changing throughout Divergent. Paragraph 1: At the beginning of the film, Tris is very
quiet and naive. She was born into the faction Abnegation, they live a simple life, selfless, dedicated to
helping others, this tells us that Tris s life isn t exciting and she was born to put others before herself.
When Tris is in her room, getting ready for the choosing ceremony where she will get the chance to
choose a new faction, the director uses an over the shoulder shot to show her reflection in the mirror.
Tris s face looks very nervous and scared as to what faction she will choose and what it will be like.
This helps the audience understand that she is quite anxious for a new change and wonders if she is
still a part of Abnegation, or will fit into

Essay on causes of french revoultionary war
The causes of the French Revolution, the uprising which brought the regime of King Louis XVI to an
end, were manifold. France in 1789 was one of the richest and most powerful nations in Europe; only
in Great Britain and the Netherlands did the common people have more freedom and less chance of
arbitrary punishment. Nevertheless, the ancien régime was brought down, partly by its own rigidity in
the face of a changing world, partly by the ambitions of a rising bourgeoisie, allied with aggrieved
peasants and wage earners and with individuals of all classes who were influenced by the ideas of the
Enlightenment. As the revolution proceeded and as power devolved from the monarchy to legislative
bodies, the conflicting interests of these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The proletariat and the non bourgeois strata of the middle class had either not yet evolved interests
which were different from those of the bourgeoisie or they did not yet constitute independent classes
or class divisions. Therefore, where they opposed the bourgeoisie, as they did in France in 1793 and
1794, [that is to say, during the Reign of Terror] they fought only for the attainment of the aims of the
bourgeoisie, albeit in a non bourgeois manner. The entire French terrorism was just a plebeian way of
dealing with the enemies of the bourgeoisie: absolutism, feudalism and philistinism. [1]

Debt
Since 1614, the French monarchy had operated without resort to a legislature. Kings had managed
their fiscal affairs by increasing the burden of the ancient and unequal system of taxes, by borrowing
money, and sometimes by selling noble titles and other privileges; however, because noble titles
exempted the holder from future taxes, the purchasers of titles were effectively buying an annuity.
This led to the long running fiscal crisis of the French government. On the eve of the revolution,
France was deeply indebted, so deeply as to be effectively bankrupt. Extravagant expenditures by
Louis XIV on luxuries such as Versailles were compounded by heavy expenditures on the Seven Years

Research Paper on Maya Civilization
Research Paper on Mayan Civilization The Maya Introduction All remnants of the distant past are
romantic, but ancient Maya civilization has a special fascination. It is a lost civilization, whose secrets
lie deep in the mysterious tropical forest. The style of Maya architecture and sculpture seems alien and
bizarre. The breathtaking splendor of ornate cites, the beautifully constructed grand temples, and the
ingeniously developed and advanced caledretics, mathematics, and astronomy easily mark one of the
most interesting and prosperous periods in Latin American history. Over period spanning
approximately six centuries, the Maya of Central America reached artistic and intellectual heights that

Mayan city states like Tikal were not only population centers but also served the function of
autonomous political and religious centers for the citizens who lived there. The Mayan political
structure was based on the establishment of many different political centers consisting of city states.
These city states collectively represented Mayan society, but each spoke their own peculiar Mayan
dialect. The city states consisted of numerous citizens but these citizens were not all equal. Indeed,
one characteristic of Maya society was the hierarchical nature of its social organization. This meant
that, at different levels in the society, people would be treated according to their status. This difference
in social treatment automatically meant that some citizens enjoyed a better standard of living with
more of the amenities of life than others. It also meant that at the bottom of this graded social pyramid

bottom of the social pyramid their training and skills consisted largely of the social functions that they
performed. Hence, they were not literate and concerned themselves largely with issues of agriculture
and the basics of following orders in warfare. Above the primary agriculturalists and soldiers were the
skilled artisans, who functioned within Mayan society not only to produce functional

Can A Patient Be Forced to Take Medication If There Is No Medical Emergency? In this case, the
patient John Rennie, a former pilot, had been in and out of mental health facilities in the state of New
Jersey since his twin brother died in 1973 in an airplane accident. Between 1973 and 1977 he had been
treated both inpatient and outpatient, numerous times, per the court record, at least 11 times. He had
been diagnosed with various mental health issues which included paranoia, schizophrenia, and manic
depression. He had even suffered from delusions and had made threats to kill the President. During the
series of treatments, Rennie would occasionally refuse to take the prescribed medication given to him
by the treatment staff. The record also indicated that during his treatment Rennie had been in frequent
fights with other patients as well as the staff, and had gone through suicidal and delusional stages. In
1977, Rennie filed a suit in the New Jersey Circuit Court, against the Ancora Psychiatric Hospital,
arguing that the treatment being forced upon him violated his right to privacy. The ruling, in that case,
was that although a patient had the right to refuse treatment, certain circumstances can take priority
above that the rights of the patient. The court mentioned the following considerations; 1) Is the patient
a danger to either themselves, other patients or to the staff at the institution? 2) Does the patient posed

Gary Hamel (2011) spoke on the essence of: the reinvention of management techniques which,
challenged managers to rethink how they perform operational functions; in order to, create a solid
structure within the current market. Additionally, his [Hamel] presentation broke the seal on stagnate
managers and a need to reinvent themselves. Often in many organizational cultures there lays very
rigid, traditional and obsolete practices which struggles to remain existent. Organizations are now
flooded with multigenerational groups; where baby boomers sought to develop their succession plan
exit; now baby boomer are forecasted to have an large representation within the future workforce
alongside generation X and Y s. In the past, managers were more seasoned, traditional in
administration processes and managed a younger workforce. Due to the current market shift [and
potentially the future], managers are comprised of recent college graduates, ingenuities on
developments, and overseers of both seasoned and youthful employees. The idea of managing the
future workforce will require nuggets given by Gary Hamal (2011): (1) Challenge the change which is
currently changing, (2) construct innovations that involves everyone, and (3) manage the diversified

In The Oyster Question, Christine Keiner utilizes environmental, agricultural, political, and social
history perspectives to investigate the Maryland oyster industry and its decline throughout history to
answer the question if the oyster industry should be privatized. She offers opposing viewpoints from
scientists, politicians and local community members. She has managed to connect scientific history
with environmental history with local history to bring together a comprehensive overview of the
problems both past and present of the Maryland oyster industry. I think that Christine keener does an

After this distress erupted Maryland instituted a new law that only residents could harvest oysters. So
the northerners moved south.
When the refrigerated rail cars came onto the scene, it changed the oyster game. Oysters could now be
enjoyed all over the country and Americans loved them, oysters went as far west as the Rocky
Mountains! The oyster business was booming. In 1870 one fifth of the men in the entire fishing
industry were Chesapeake Bay oystermen. There were twenty six thousand fishermen and processors
employed in the Chesapeake oyster industry. The bay then had around forty two thousand boats, just
for oystering. On average, they were harvesting fifteen million pounds of oysters a year. In 1885,
twenty nine million bushels were harvested. An increased demand led to increases in harvests. The
bay quickly began to deplete. From 1865 to 1959 there was a series of disputes that erupted among the
various groups of oystermen. Sometimes violent, these disputes caused the government to intervene
with a newly created Maryland Oyster Navy.
To help regulate the oyster industry a series of steps were taken in the 1880s: a general license system,
the oyster police, the Winslow oyster survey, and numerous road and canal expansion projects. The
1890s brought decline in the oyster industry, due to both demand and the depletion of the bay, though
by the mid 1900s it was fairly stable. This was helped in part by the Hanan oyster culture

  • 2. Vibraphon s Influence On Jazz Music 1. I think the biggest element that made this song unique is the use of counterpoint. Counterpoint is the use of two or more melodic lines of equal importance. During the course of the song, no one melody sounds like the main melody, and are all of the same significance. I think this would have upset many of the jazz purists, as it was such a change from traditional jazz music. 2. A vibraphone is a instrument with resonator tubes suspended below aluminum bars to create a natural reverberation of the sound. Lionel Hampton was one of the first jazz performers to play this instrument. I believe the vibraphone solo starts at 1:09 and lasts till about 1:50, most prominently and again from 2:15 to 3:00. 3.I think that one of the techniques ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Importance Of Inclusion In Schools Inclusion is catering for every child s needs, spiritually, academically, and individual situations. It is valuing and considering all individuals and giving them equal opportunities. Making every individual feel included within themselves and also groups. All children want to feel like they belong. It is to endorse the impression that everyone should be freely and happily accommodated without limitations or restrictions of any kind. So why is inclusion important in diverse classrooms? Inclusion is important for many reasons. Inclusion gives students opportunities for friendships so they feel more welcome. It helps the students become more outgoing and opens up their personality and attitudes. Students learn more effectively without feeling left out or abandoned. They also learn about empathy and the importance diversity and that everyone is different. Inclusion prepares the students for adult life, and also different learning environments. Students develop a way that they can communicate with other students and also students with disabilities. They develop many communication skills and social skills to use in everyday life. These are just some of the reasons why inclusion is important. The UNESCO Salamanca Statement policy includes the approach of inclusive schools by applying strategic changes. Strengthening their approach to more efficient support in special needs. By receiving support from teachers, teacher unions and associations and also motivate the community to ... • 4. India s Influence On India India is a well known country that is located in Southern Asia, between Burma and Pakistan while bordered by the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal. Distinguished with a long history, it is known that the north western Aryan tribes came to settle with the Dravidian tribe during 1500 B. C., thus creating what is now known as India ( Central Intelligence Agency , 2007). India is a high ranking country that has made its mark in history, which has shaped the world today. From their love of culture, respect and inner nature of purity and modesty to the influence in knowledge of Technology, Science and Music, India is considered the mother of cultures. Even as a growing partner to various thriving countries, they are still at the top of the pyramid. The first area of interest is the political structure of this country. Great Britain had control over India for some time until 15th August, 1947 when they gained independence. Almost three years later when the Constitution of India came into effect and, therefore, India became a Republic on 26th January, 1950. India is the largest practising democracy in the world, with elections at every level based on universal adult suffrage. General elections are normally held every 5 years. Today, the Union of India comprises 29 states and 6 union territories with the Central Government at New Delhi, the capital of the country. • 5. Explication Of The Raven By Edgar Allan Poe Holly Hecox Perdue English Composition II 28 February 2016 Explication: The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe Through the use of an un named narrator in his poem entitled The Raven , Poe darkly conveys feeling understood by many: hopelessness, lost love, and death. The poem follows the un named narrator, as he reflects on, as well as struggles with, the realization of his lost love, Lenore. Like many, he tries to detract his overwhelming feelings for Lenore by investing his time in studying books. Despite his greatest efforts, he is unsuccessful. Much to his surprise, his solitude is interrupted by an unanticipated visitor. Throughout the poem, Poe uses imagery, tone, symbolism, and rhyme as a means of conveying his overall themes of undying devotion and lingering grief. Around midnight on a bleak December night, a weak and weary man is reading while nearly napping . He reads as a means of nullifying the sorrow he feels for the lost Lenore . Suddenly, he is jolted alert by some visitor tapping at his chamber door. The lonely man tells himself Tis some visitor and nothing more , but as he widely opens his chamber door, he finds darkness there and nothing more . Staring into the darkness, the narrator dreams about the impossibilities of his lost love, and even whispers her name; Lenore . Upon returning to his chamber, a stronger tapping, at the window, is catching his attention. Courageously exploring the noise, he is amused and relieved when a raven flies in from ... • 6. Quotes On Dehumanization In Night Although Eliezer survived the bloodcurdling Holocaust, countless others succumbed to the Nazi s inhumanity. The Nazi s progressively reduced the Jewish people to being little more than things which were a nuisance to them. Throughout Night, dehumanization consistently took place, as the Nazis oppressed the Jewish citizens. The Germans dehumanized Eliezer, his father, and other fellow Jews for the duration of the memoir Night, which had a lasting effect on Eliezer s identity, attitude and outlook. Wiesel displays the Nazi s vicious actions to accentuate the way by which they dehumanize the Jewish population. The Nazis had an abundance of practices to dehumanize the Jews including beatings, starvation, separation of families, crude murders, forced labor, among other horrific actions. Even though Eliezer was able to persevere, he was dehumanized by the Nazi s in an atrocious and cold blooded fashion. When a human is emotionally and physically stripped of their pride, it weakens his or her will to live. The Nazis targeted the Jews humanity, and slowly dissolved their feeling of being an independant human. Elie Wiesel states He took his time between lashes, only the first really hurt...twenty four...twenty five. It was over. I had not realized it but I had fainted. (Wiesel 62). In the case of the Jews doing anything askew, they were to be punished in barbaric ways. This whipping by the Nazi s had a drastic affect on Eliezer s identity, because before his punishment Eliezer had not yet altered his inquisitive mindset. Eliezer was at the wrong place at the wrong time, and as a result he was thrashed and trounced on by one of the German soldiers. This traumatized Eliezer and brought fear upon him, changing his attitude. The Nazi s not only dehumanized Eliezer, but they reduced his father from a human being into a thing that was merely a nuisance. The Nazi s believed that they were on a higher level than the Jews, so they tried to take whatever dignity the Jews had remaining. Wiesel proves this when stating he slapped my father with such a force that he fell down and then crawled back to his place on all fours (Wiesel 39). The instant that the officer hit Eliezer s father, Eliezer was in utter shock. His ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Essay on Linking Eating Disorders With Genetics While Bulimia is known by many names, the term bulimia did not enter the English language until the 1970s, perhaps representing lingering uncertainty about its essence (Gordon, 2000). Bulimia, as we know it, is a modern disease, however, there is some evidence of binging and purging in ancient times; for example, in ancient Egypt, physicians would recommend periodical purgation as a health practice (Gordon, 2000). There has also been documentation of wealthy families in the middle ages vomiting during meals in order to continue eating large amounts of food. At this point, you may be wondering why these examples are not considered Bulimia Nervosa. According to Dr. Richard Allan Gordon, author of Eating Disorders: Anatomy of a Social ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is now defined as Recurring episodes of eating significantly more food in a short period of time than most people would eat under similar circumstances, with episodes marked by feelings of lack of control.... The person may have feelings of guilt, embarrassment, or disgust and may binge eat alone to hide the behavior . It is important to note that there is a difference between over eating and binge eating, while over eating is a recognizable problem for many people, binge eating is much less common, far more severe, and associated with significant physiological and psychological problems (DSM 5). Binge Eating Disorder is similar to Bulimia Nervosa in that we see episodes of eating large amounts of food, the difference being that there is no purging after the binging episode. It is seen highly among obese patients, but, perhaps due to a reluctance to relate obesity with an eating disorder, it was not recognized as distinct from Bulimia Nervosa until the early 1990s (Gordon, 2000). Some of the first documented cases of Anorexia Nervosa were religious in origin. As early as the 12th century we saw women, particularly in Western Christianity, known as Miracle Maidens who were highly esteemed for their self control, their holy anorexia was thought of as a gift from God. Some scholars have stated the intense relationship ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Democracy is a type of government that emanates from the constituted powers that are elected, depending on the system (presidentialist, parliamentary, constitutional monarchy, semi presidentialist, semi parliamentary, etc...) directly or indirectly by the people. Whereas in an absolute monarchy, an absolutist regime exists and is in power because of family lineage. 2. In democracy three state powers(in most cases) exist as a checks and balances system, these being the judicial, executive and legislative as it was enunciated in Montesquieu s Of the Spirit of law. • 9. Toxic Mold Research Paper Whom to Sue When It Comes to Toxic Mold Exposure Toxic mold is one thing that you should never take lightly. Even though there are thousands of mold breeds, and though most of them are harmless, the few that are toxic are seriously dangerous. Not only can toxic mold hurt you, your family and cause heavy expenses in medical bills, but the cost to remove mold from your house is extensive as well. Since mold in a building is not your fault, you should not have to pay the removal cost, or possibly even that of the medical expenses. So whom you have to sue to get it covered? To find out, you need to ask yourself some questions: Where Were You When the Mold Affected You? First of all, you have to determine where the mold occurred, so that you can deduce where the blame lies. You have to consider your regular routine, and the conditions in said places that may have facilitated exposure to harmful breeds of mold. In 1407 China ruled ancient Vietnam, then in late 1800s France took control and established Indochina. In the late 1800s, Nationalist movements began. They wanted more self governance and less French rule. The main movements were held by the communist leader Ho Chi Minh, the founder of the militant nationalist organization the Viet Minh. During WWII when France was occupied by Nazi Germany, it lost its hold in Vietnam, and Japan took control of Vietnam. The Viet Minh resisted the Japanese and extended its power throughout Vietnam. The new leader ended up being just as corrupt and ineffective. JFK s, successor Lyndon B. Johnson, promised to fulfill JFK s commitments and keep the USA fighting in Vietnam to a minimum. After North Vietnamese forces allegedly attacked US Navy ships in the Gulf of Tonkin in 1964, Johnson began to send troops to Vietnam. After Johnson s Americanization of the war, there were nearly 400,000 US troops in Vietnam by the end of 1966. As the United States became increasingly caught up in Vietnam, it followed the strategy of wearing away at the communist forces, attempting to bury them under a storm of casualties, however, the Viet Cong s guerilla tactics, such as booby traps and mines, demoralized the USA troops, leading to the use of unconventional weapons like napalm and the Agent Orange. Napalm is a very flammable gel that burns the skin and rapidly deoxygenates available air, causing suffocation. Agent Orange is a herbicide defoliant. A defoliant is a chemical sprayed on plants to cause its leaves to fall off. Agent Orange s primary objective was to reduce the dense jungle undergrowth to prevent the Communist forces from using it as cover. The secondary objective was to drive civilians into Southern Vietnam controlled areas. We cannot donate discoveries of past as touchstones, but these are pillars which provide a base for further development and inventions in each field of the life (Haven, 2006). There is one scene is the movie where he uses this technique, and the audience feels that they are in the scene with the characters. It is when David Huxley is meeting with Mr. Alexander Peabody to talk about the opportunity of having one million dollars donated to his museum, The Stuyvesant Museum of Natural History, where he is working on completing a skeletal reproduction of a brontosaurus. In this scene, he utilizes the long shot of the four men after they have stopped walking, combined it with the tracking shot itself, and comprises the master shot, which is also mandated by the classical style (Bordwell, Staiger, Thompson, 1985). Since the tracking of the camera did indeed continue on for a few feet after the men had stopped, Hawks helps to establish a better use of space within the frame. By lengthening the shot from a long shot to a longer shot, the audiences not only gets to see the men and the golf course, the audience can now get a better sense of where they are situated on the course itself as well.
