Chris Brown Satire
Although it sounds like an odd question, it is appropriate. Until this assignment I never realized
that society holds a lower standard for our celebrities, even dismissing when our super stars put
the general public in danger. This is why I believe celebrities should have harsher punishments.
For example, how many of you listen to the singer Chris Brown, do you know he got away with
assault charges? For those of you who knew he was guilty of assault, but not punished, did it affect
your respect and influence your support of Chris Brown?
How many of you remember Justin Bieber, and his dangerous driving and assault charges in
Toronto? Of course, those charges were dropped. He was spending the day with Selena Gomez. It
is fortunate for Bieber ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I know this problem cannot be fixed overnight. The law enforcement officers, the Judges, and the
rest of the justice system should be ashamed in the way that celebrities are getting away with
crimes. I believe that this should be a topic that the public should be made aware of. In the
atmosphere of public outcry, the justice system would remedy the unfairness immediately. I know
that not everyone will be accepting of this and not see the point in putting harsher punishments on
celebrities for crimes. I think that if enough people knew about more than just the handful of
celebrities that have had the charges dropped in their criminal cases and the number of celebrities
that have gotten away with crimes than more people would believe in the un equality of celebrities
and non celebrities. When society realizes that celebrities not only are setting the crime tone for our
youth but for the next generations of our youth and so on. One who holds public offices, works for
society, or has celebrity status should be held to a higher standard. I believe that because of the
celebrities who have gotten away with crimes the youth in our nation have been motivated to do
crimes. Not only are our young people growing up in a society that lets people get away with
crimes like assault but the ones who do get caught are being let of with lesser charges then they
deserve. Laws and punishments are in place to

Social media has changed the fashion industry but has its impact been positive? There are
different opinions and debates online wether social media has changed fashion for better or for
worse. With the evolution of technology, the ways of communication and work as completely
changed. The development of social media has changed the way the society works, by bringing

The Works Of Banksy By Henry David Thoreau
As Henry David Thoreau states: the world is but a canvas to our imagination is pragmatic in the
sense of what is defined as art. The mere act of shaping art onto the simplicity of paper is
condoned while walls, streets, and bridges become the norm. A rugged description, yet so valid in
this case. This principle is exemplified in the works of Banksy. Banksy is my chosen artist. His
works are authentic, yet aesthetically defined in the most unusual places. His method of art is
likewise fascinating for he uses bold sardonic street artand dissident witticisms combined with
graffitiperformed in idiosyncratic stenciling techniques to portray various messages. As
findthemag.com states, Banksy uses broad, complex abstractions and reducing them into
something palatable. I agree with this statement. Also, the term Banksy is a pseudonym for his
unique identity that remains quite unconfirmed. This is enthralling an artist who refrains from
claiming his own art? This idea might sound confounding to some, but it adds fervor to my
fondness of his art.
Nonetheless, Robin Banx (original moniker, a shortened form of robbing banks) or Banksy are a
few of the flamboyant monikers for a revolutionary street artist who is most known for his
controversial stenciled pieces in public property. His stencils incorporated descriptively starching
messages that are both humorous as well as meaningful. His messages ranged from antiviolence to
an economic standpoint an audacious representation

Life After High School
Life after high school can be one of the most difficult decisions in your life. And it is not just one
decision, the college you choose can alter many aspects of your life. When you attempt to
choose a school to go to you have to take into consideration many things. You have to know the
major you want to go for, the minors, location, tuition cost, et cetera. I have so many options for
the next step in my life. For this paper, however, I have narrowed it down to two options: Miami
University and the University of Cincinnati. It is a close race between the two, but based on my
recent visit to Miami going there for college would be the better option for my future. Money is
an issue for mostly all college students, everyone is always worried about the debt they will
obtain by going through schooling and how they are going to pay it off. Unless someone can get
a full ride scholarship, you are going to have to owe money to the university you go to. My
solution is that I will be making enough money after college to pay it off pretty quickly so I do
not have to owe too much money throughout my life. Miami tuition is around $15,000 and room
and board is around $13,000 so the total is somewhere close to $28,000 ( 2017 Cohort ).
Cincinnati tuition is $11,000 and room and board can be from $11,000 to $13,000, so between
$22,000 and $24,000 would be the total ( UC Facts ). I intend to get scholarships through various
companies or associations to bring the total price per year down.

She was Charlie s favourite person. She would always buy him two presents. One for Christmas

Overcoming Obstacles In Helen Keller s Life
Would you be able to live not hearing or seeing anything for your whole life? Would you be able
to live knowing for half of your life that no one believed you could succeed in life. Helen Keller
persevered for her whole life not being able to see or hear. She encountered many obstacles
throughout her life. Helen was born in 1880 in Tuscumbia, Alabama. As a result, she then lost her
sight and hearingfor the rest of her life. When she was little she acted like an animal, didn t
change her clothes or didn t let people brush her hair. In addition, she took other peoples food and
locked people in rooms and hid the key. In spite of, all these challenges Helen Kellerpersevered,

difficult than teaching a one year old. Annie did succeed teaching Helen throughout Her life.
Annie managed to get Helen into Perkins collage. As a matter of fact Annie did so well teaching
Helen that when it came to her exams Helen received the highest test scores. When Helen was
little she had terrible manners. She ate from other people s plates, so whatever she smelled and
liked she just grabbed it from your plate and ate it. Helen didn t use napkins, forks, knives,or
even a spoon. Well that was until Annie arrived. When Annie had her first meal with Helen she
saw the way Helen acted. Annie was very well not pleased. Annie saw Helen go to everybody s
plate, But when Helen reached for Annie s plate Annie smacked her right on the hand. After
Helen attempted several more times Annie sent every one out of the room. Helen began
pinching and slapping but Annie very well did back. After several hours though Annie managed
to get Helen to fold her napkin and use silverware. Meanwhile, a couple weeks after Annie began
teaching Helen she decided to move to a small cabbage in the woods near the house to live with
Helen. Annie and Helen stayed there Alone for a few years. In that time period Annie had
accomplished many things. In fact, Helen learned how to do sign language and even read
braille. Helen was then very eager to learn more and more. Helen then became a well known
intelligent young lady. She met famous people like Grand Bell, the president, and even John F

Missing Women
There is a huge number of missing women in Canada, and an extremely large number of these
women are Aboriginal. Why do Aboriginal women seem more vulnerable? The majority of these
missing Aboriginal women were living on the streets, living in poverty and working in the sex
trade industry before their disappearances. Why were all of these women in the same situation? I
believe that the Conflict Theory explains the hardships, the abuse and the discrimination that each
of these women faced before they went missing. The Conflict Theory states that society is marked
by power struggles over scarce resources; inequities result in conflict; social change is inevitable.
Since the theft of Aboriginal land and destruction of traditional ways of... Show more content on

Aboriginal students were taught to devalue everything Aboriginal and value anything Euro
Canadian. The damage done by residential schools is evident today as Aboriginal people, long
deprived of parenting skills, struggle with family responsibilities. The victimization of Aboriginal
women accelerated with the breakdown of Aboriginal cultural values and the abuse suffered by
Aboriginal children in the schools contributed to family breakdown. This began a cycle of abuse in
Aboriginal communities, with women and children being the primary victims. Aboriginal women
and their children suffer tremendously as victims in contemporary Canadian society. They are the
victims of racism, of sexism and of inconceivable levels of domestic violence as well as
incomprehensible crimes like murder. The tragedy of missing Aboriginal women runs deep into
the history of Aboriginal dispossession and discrimination; it s not just about missing Aboriginal
women; its health issues, housing issues, economic security, drug and alcohol abuse, mental
health, racism, and all of those social factors that create a situation of Aboriginal women
becoming victims. Canada contributes to the issue of missing women by failing to address human
rights issues for women. Canada has failed to provide adequate assistance to women and girls
living in poverty. There is a huge link between poverty, lack of adequate housing, and violence
especially for abuses suffered by

Stereotypes In Desperate Housewives
Section one is going to contain the first kind of stereotypes which the series breaks down. First,
people s opinion about the 1950s American housewife will start this part. Then, two of the four
main characters will show the stay at home mother pattern. One of them, Bree Van De Kamp s
character will show that this type of housewife is also capable of doing immoral things and
Lynette is going to show the power of women. Last, Susan Mayer who is able to do everything on
her own even as a single parent mother who stays at home with the children and Gabrielle will
represent the life phase which changed because of pregnancy. Desperate Housewivesis a television
series about the suburban life of four women. The official website of the show says:

often used to describe them. On the other hand, men have to be the breadwinners and they are

AFGHANISTAN POST 2014; IMPERATIVES, DRIVERS AND SCENARIOS
Introduction
1.Afghanistan has remained under challenging conditions since 1979 with major transitional
periods almost every decade that badly affected the lives of its people. Firstly, war against former
USSR, then an internal war, and lately a war along as well as against the
US led NATO forces, which has had its effects inside Afghanistanas well as neighbourhood,
particularly Pakistan. Although the latest war (post 9/11) has been a result of actions taken by non
Afghan individuals and groups , main victims have been the people of Afghanistan. With another
transition approaching in 2014 when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Economic development is considered critical to Afghanistan s ability for shaping its future,
particularly after foreign assistance reduces or dries out. Apart from Govt s role to improve checks
balances (besides reducing corruption) to develop growth potential through foreign assistance,
internal security is prerequisite for foreign companies/vendors to undertake developmental work in
Afghanistan. Another factor that may hinder the process is the fact that Afghan society has yet not
recovered from the losses of wars during last 30 years that left 2 million dead, 700,000 widows
orphans, and about one million Afghan children born in Refugee camps. This factor along with
poor literacy rate provides limited skilled labour, middle managers, accountants, and information
professionals. (2)Foreign Financial Assistance/Aid. Currently, financial assistance / donor aid
accounts for 95% of Afghanistan s GDP. Besides running the state affairs and undertaking
developmental works, a sizeable amount is spent on training and sustenance of ANSF, which until
now is fully supported through foreign financial aid (majority being provided by the US). Through
the platforms of Chicago Conference (military assistance) and Tokyo Framework (broad based
economic assistance), International community has committed provision of funds / aid all through
the Transformation Decade, however with a clear mandate of reducing the amount with

Biblical And Mythological Allusions Of Moby Dick
Moby Dick is Herman Melville s masterpiece, a purposeful novel that acts both as a documentary
of a sea voyage but also a philosophical allusion on life as a whole. Moby Dick is far beyond its
time in reference to its use of allusion within its text. In this novel, Herman Melville frequently
uses biblical and mythological allusions. With these strategic allusions, the reader is able to
begin to understand the topics of discussion within the book and is also exposed to the wisdom
and potential knowledge Melville possesses. Melville uses many Biblical and mythological
references in the form of character stories, which I found beneficial in helping interpret the texts
meaning (Howard, 27). This paper will discuss the Biblical and Mythological allusions that
Melville s use in Moby Dickin the hopes to develop a deeper understanding of the issues Melville
was hoping to address. An Allusion is a brief and indirect reference to a well known person, place,
thing, cultural, historical, or literary work (Delahunty, 24). As Described by Andrew Delahunty in
the Oxford Dictionary of Reference and Allusion, allusions form a colorful extension to the English
language, drawing on our collective knowledge of literature, mythology, and the Bible to help us
connect and interpret literature (26). Though an allusion is used to reference something significant,
it does not describe in detail the person or thing to which it is referring too. Writers often use
allusions as just a passing comment

Pros And Cons Of The Electoral College
There are some that would argue that the Electoral College should not be abolished. Williams
argued, According to 2013 census data, nine states California, Texas, New York, Florida, Illinois,
Pennsylvania, Ohio, Georgia, and Michigan have populations that total roughly 160 million,
slightly more than half the U.S. population. It is conceivable that just nine states could determine
the presidency in a popular vote (Williams). Consequently, without the Electoral College, nine states
can possibly determine the results of an election. Those that support the Electoral College think that
electionsshould be by state instead of a vote per person. The Electoral College can keep
unqualified candidates from winning an election and therefore, become president. Talents for low
intrigue, and the little arts of popularity, may alone suffice to elevate a man to the first honors in
a single State; but it will require other talents, and a different kind of merit, to establish him in the
esteem and confidence of the whole Union, or of so considerable a portion of it as would be
necessary to make him a successful candidate for the distinguished office of President of the United
States. It will not be too strong to say, that there will be a constant probability of seeing the station
filled by characters pre eminent for ability and virtue (Williams). He supports the idea that the
Electoral College keeps unqualified candidates from becoming the president. He also talks about
how there is a

A License Program Can Reduces Car Crash Rates
Teenagers Driving Studies have shown that the Graduated License Program can reduces car crash
rates by 40%. The GDL is available in all 50 states. Since the decrease of teenage accidents have
been declining some states are making the GDL a law in the state.
Car crashes are the number one death of teenagers, a lot of these deaths are by the use of
technology and not buckling up. To begin, the National safety council reports that 28% of
vehicle crashes , are caused by the use of technology (Klass Roney 5). Many accidents are
caused by teens looking at their phones and the use of social media behind the wheel. If more
stricter laws are set on phones in cars that percentage should fall. In general, the use of phones
today by people is just about everyone and people should be more smart and not be using their
phones while driving not just for their safety but others. Furthermore, the amount of teens that die
in car accidents is Four times the amount of drivers twentyfive to sixtynine (Klass Roney 3).
Younger drivers do not buckle up as many other older and experienced drivers. The more young
drivers that are taught what the real impacts of not wearing a seatbelt can cause they would
probably be more wise. Generally speaking, some young teen drivers do not see the seatbelt as
being important, when really it is the most important thing in the car. Better drivers education for
young/new drivers should be taken into account, because it better educates drivers on how to

Descriptive Essay About A Song
One day during my sophomore year of high school while I was waiting for my class to start, I
decided to explore new genres of music and artists that I haven t listened to before. I was sitting on
the floor outside of my classroom searching through Spotify for something new and exciting. After
looking through the Classic Rock section on Spotify, I came across the band Queen. Since that
moment, I have been and avid Queen listener and have listened to all their songs. I have been
particularly fond of their albums The Game, The Miracle and Night at the Opera.
The first Queen song I heard was Bohemian Rhapsody from the album Night at the Opera. It was
around 7:45 am, the morning was very still and quiet and the sky was clear. My surroundings
became increasingly louder as the school day was about to begin and it was a cool morning
unlike the typical Floridian morning weather. After scrolling through various Queen songs on
Spotify, I stumbled upon as song I have heard about through friends but not listened to: Bohemian
Rhapsody. Just like the eerily still morning, the exposition of the song was smooth and relaxed.
The beginning of the song sounded like there were many voices in harmony and the hazy, smooth
timbre resonated in my ear buds. The lyrics of the song matched with the eerie quality of the
voices, the lyrics indicate that the singers are in some state of confusion and are unclear of their
surroundings. The singers hold the last word of each verse for a beat longer than

MalagueГ±a Analysis
The instrumental piece that I chose for this assignment is the interpretation of MalagueГ±a by the
hand of Michael Lucarelli. Originally written as a folk song of the Andalusian music, this song has
increasingly changed throughout the years to become the famously known flamenco style by the
19th century. The manner Lucarelli was able to use his classical guitar skills in order to enhance
an image of adventure mixed with tragedy and victory can only be seen as complete brilliance.
This composition has been successful not only because of it s versatility but the high levels of
energy and emotions put into the development of this work.
As soon as Lucarelli begins to strum his guitar, a camera begins to slowly focus on man seen

guitarist is in mourning while the cowboy lets one tear fall as he realizes he has lost a potential
love interest. Resilience is key, however, and the guitarist shows this at 1:51, where he brings back
the main theme, yet softer than before due to the man regaining his strength to seek vengeance for

Egg Drop Challenge Research Paper
You are twenty five feet or approximately seven meters in the air, plummeting to a concrete ground.

vehicle that can minimize the force of impact from a high drop while protecting the egg inside.
Nevertheless, these goals do not come without constraints. Not only must we complete this project
in exactly nine days, but we must also stick to the rules given. Such rules include; only using the
materials allotted, and the vehicle built cannot exceed the width or height of 60 centimeters. With
these constraints given, the participants in the challenge must make sure that their goals can still be

Although the agricultural sector of Mexico was affected by NAFTA, the country has another source
of income to keep their economy running gasoline and oil, tourism, and the remittance that is being

Another sad truth why the Welton 26 and most Mexicans chose to migrate illegally here in the

What Role Did Wu Zetian Play In Confucianism
In the feudal era of China, when Confucianism played a dominant role in human thoughts and was

Racial And Ethnic Group Interactions
Racial and ethnic group interactions occur daily in the world; in Miami, however one can learn
from the interactions between different ethnic and racial groups in a workplace setting. Mr.
Elman adapted his management style of his apparel factory to the needs of his immigrant
workers; his style helped reduce ethnic friction and returned his investment in high production
levels and loyalty (Stepick, 92). Mr. Elman was successful in getting his employees to willingly
agree to pay a cut, which exemplifies how much clout Mr. Elman had amongst his workers
(Stepick, 93). The previous success that the factory had under his management would likely not
be found again under the American management style, partly because the workers were used to
Mr. Elman. Also after more Haitian workers were hired, the Miami Cubans seemed to create a
notion of seniority when decisions had to be made, but instead of the senior member not working
they would opt to work, leaving the new Haitian workers without work (Stepick, 103). Mr. Elman
eventually sold his apparel factory and new more American managers moved in, these managerial
practices took away the things that lead to a positive work environment and high productivity:
personal fans, individual radios, and hot plates (Stepick, 93). The new American managers admitted
their defeat, at least they learned to adapt to a more Latino based workforce as per one of the plant
managers (Stepick, 94). While I understand the new American management style,

Ernest Hemingway Apathetic American Stereotypes
Apathetic Americans
Stereotypes have shaped the way people think about the World and everyone around them. They
are undeniably over exaggerated, but are based on a sliver of truth. For example, stereotypical
Americans are seen as rude, stupid, greedy, and very patriotic. In the case of Americans, Donald J.
Trump is the embodiment of the American stereotype. During his presidential campaign, Trump
made many vulgar remarks, and his goal was to make America great again. These American
stereotypes are also apparent in Ernest Hemingway s short stories, most notably in Cat in the Rain,
The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber, and the interchapters of In Our Time. Hemingway s
short stories portray Americans as being insensitive to the World around them. Americans are
insensitive through their insatiable greed, emotional unawareness, and cultural disregard.
Hemingway s Americans continual desire for more alienates them from the rest of society,
proving their lack of understanding for the world. In Cat in the Rain, an American couple is
vacationing in Italy. Instead of admiring the beauty of their surroundings, the Americans instead
focus on irrelevant trivial pursuits, illustrating their greed. After going down to retrieve the cat,
the wife is immediately attracted to the hotel owner, proving Americans ever evolving want for
new things: She liked the way he wanted to serve her. [...] She liked his old, heavy face and big
hands (Hemingway 130). Instead of staying loyal to her husband, the American wife forgets he
exists and moves on to the next best person she finds, showing the apathy Americans possess for
what they already have. Additionally, the hotel owner is simply doing his job, and the American
wife s failure to realize this results from her greed, which severely clouds her judgement. The
greed Americans possess is further proven with the American wife s childish behavior throughout
the story. When the wife cannot find the cat, she complains, I wanted it so much [...] I don t know
why I wanted it so much (130). Back in the hotel room, the wife demands to her husband that she
want[s] to pull [her] hair back, and to have a kitty to sit on [her] lap and purr when [she] stroke[s]

Keyes and Shane Lopez illustrate the four typologies of mental health functioning, flourishing,
struggling, floundering and languishing. However complete mental health is combination of high
emotional well being, high psychological well being and high social well being along with low
mental illness. [5] Historical Background The history of positivity is ancient, even though the term
positivity was not used in those days. Socrates advocated self knowledge as the path to happiness.
Plato s allegory of the cave influenced western thinkers who believed that happiness is found by
finding deeper meaning. Aristotle believed happiness, or eudaimonia is constituted by rational
activity in accordance with virtue over a complete life. The Epicureans believed in reaching
happiness through the enjoyment of simple pleasures. The Stoics believed

Necklace Research Papers
Necklaces are a great way to accentuate your features and bring out the glow of your skin.
Nowadays, there are many kinds of necklaces you can choose from meaning that you may have a
difficult time in deciding what kind of necklace you like best. Necklaces can usually be
differentiated according to their lengths and widths. For example, the choker is the shortest
necklace at fourteen to sixteen inches long, it is followed by the princess necklace which is
eighteen inches long. Meanwhile, still another type of necklace is the matinee necklace which is
at twenty two to twenty three inches long; this type of necklace is usually above the cleavage
area. The last type of necklace is the longest one, the opera necklace; this type of necklace is
below the cleavage and is placed at the breastbone.
Necklaces have been popular since ancient civilizations; you have probably already encountered
the image of Cleopatra, the Egyptian queen, wearing different kinds of jewelry. But in fact,
necklaces have been used even before that time because there are some discoveries that suggest that
necklaces were used even during the time when the Israelis evacuated Egypt. Also note that from the
painting of Thebes, necklaces have been used by people in that era. Both men and women from the

necklace is the most preferred type of jewelry being given to your special someone when an

During the first ten years of the reform period (1978 1988), China s GDP grew at an average
rate of around 10% per annum and its share of world trade doubled during the decade of the
1980s as well. From the period of the early 1980s to late 1990s, contracted FDI inflow to China
grew from about US$1.5 billion a year to more than US$40 billion a year in 1999. The rate of
economic growth was even higher in the fist half of the 1990s. Since 1993, for example, the
success in attracting foreign investment made China become the second largest recipient of FDI
in the world and the contracted FDI increased to a peak of US$111 bn in that year. China was
ranked the ninth largest trading nation, by 1999. At the same year, the development of a flourishing
private sector which the private firms accounted for around 38% of services output and about 20%
of industrial output. This gives the prosperity rising, especially in the costal region.
3. The impact of foreign direct investment (FDI) in China
FDI is an important element in China s reform and economic growth, though it is not easy to say

brings technological progress, but also having impact on industrial organization, technology

The Financial Accounting Standards Board Essay
On February 26, 2016, the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) issued an Accounting
Standards Update (ASU) which revised the standards on leasing. The intent for this revision was to
improve how leases are being reported on the financial statements. The consensus is that the
classification tests in current use for making this determination fail to provide a faithful and
accurate representation for leasing transactions in general. In 2005, the U.S. Securities and
Exchange Commission had also made recommendations which indicated this need for change in
regard to how leases were being reported. Overall, it is believed that this change would ensure
greater transparency in the financial statements concerning these type transactions. As
commonplace as leasearrangements are, accounting for leases are not quite so clear cut. One of
the hotly debated topics for leasing standards that is currently being discussed is how off
balance sheet financing presents an erroneous and misleading view of a company s true financial
position. This problem began when companies would plan ways to circumvent the rules currently
under U.S. GAAP in attempts to classify leases as operating leases when in actuality they were
capital leases. An example of this when a company purposely designs the leasing arrangements so
that the lease ends at 74% of the asset s estimated life whereas one of the U.S. GAAP criteria for
leases directs that it must be a non cancellable lease term that is

Persuasive Language In Narrative Of The Life Of Frederick...
In the book Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass written by himself, Douglass writes about
his experiences as a slave in the 1800 s. In the beginning of the book, he explains that he does
not know his age because most slaves are not allowed to know their age. Douglass recalls the
memory of his aunt getting tied and whipped until she was covered in blood at a very young age.
He reveals to us that slaves only get extremely limited allowances throughout a year. Children
barely get any clothing to wear, while all of them just get barely enough food to survive, He also
says that slaves have to lie half the time to avoid getting whipped and beaten.
This book gives us a real insight on how bad slavery was, how Douglass coped with it, and
eventually how he escapes from it later in the book. Douglass uses persuasive language to show
the true colors of slavery, and he uses his own experiences of being a slave himself to his
advantage by giving us accounts of his life as a slave. In this essay, I want to focus on the truth,
why slaves have to lie their way out of certain situations, and go more in depth of how Douglass
language is highly persuasive to the abolitionists of that time.
I want to focus on one specific part in this essay, a part that is very descriptive, persuasive, and
analyze deep into the text. The slave in this quote has no idea that the person they are talking to is
their actual master. It states:
The colonel, after ascertaining whom the slave belonged to,

Richard would be facing both the alter and the Cardinal, one of the highest religious positions
that there was in front of the holiest of places. One could see this as church and state facing one
another head on. The Cardinal addresses the to be King Richard in a distinct voice if he shall keep
the same ties, laws, and traditions that were kept by the kings before him, especially by Edward
the Confessor. At the time, religion and state were known for their disagreements of power. So
using this strong voice to almost demand for religion s steady position in the country means that the
church was determined to stay in the country of England. The King agrees most likely due to him
being in front of all the people, he cannot object even if he wanted to. Once the Cardinal is
convinced of his promise he will give to him the special articles. This shows that the Church was
determined to stay in England if they were deliberate on whether or not the promise was
genuine. The Cardinal then swears in the King that his power belongs to the Church of God, the
clergy and it s people. This is a demand of the King s power be given to the Church and the
people of England, it is almost saying that while we may have a King he is to serve God and the
people first. The King then swears to his power for God. The Cardinal also speaks of equal and
rightful justice with mercy and truth. This means that the King must understand that he must be
fair in his judgements to which he agrees to do. Then there is the point made about the laws of the
worship of God to be strengthened and defended which means that the King should make a point
of keeping church in England. At every point of these promises the King is left to remember that
the church is giving him this power and for him to overall remember to respect the church for it s

Today Liberia is a recovering and thriving nation in Western Africa. It was created by a
movement from the United States in the 1840 s that allowed freed slaves the opportunity to move
to Africa to attempt to make a life in a more accepting environment. Liberia has a very eventful
history to include events such as a civil war, coups, being the first independent nation in Africa,

Coffee: Decaf or Caffeinated?
Drinking a cup of coffee has become an essential part of our morning routine. A study by
statisticbrain.com showed that 54% of Americans over the age of 18 drank an average cup size
being 9 ounces coffee every day. Coffee consumption has been dated to 10th century Ethiopia, and
since then it has evolved alongside the technology of each era. With the introduction of the espresso
machine during the French Revolution, more people started to create and mix their coffee into
different drinks, ranging from cappuccinos to cocktails. As we know, coffee naturally produces
caffeine. During the early 1900 s people wanted to enjoy their coffee flavored drinks but didn t
want the caffeine addiction that came with it. For this reason and motivated by the belief that
caffeine had poisoned his father, Ludwig Roselius invented the first commercially successful

The Perks of being a Wallflower, (Chbosky, 2012) uses classical narration as a canonical based
framework of events which adheres to the conventions of classical narration. Screen Media (2009)
outlines that canonical style of narration, is achieved by a three part structure. This organisation is
presented throughout the film, as viewers are introduced to the main character Charlie, (Logan
Lerman) and his mental health issues. This introduction foreshadows the premise of the plot and
overall motif creating a consistent theme where the middle section features a chain of events that
Charlie must overcome. A state of balance is achieved at the end of the movie acting as a form of
conclusion. Throughout this classical style of narrative viewers see established relationships between

Dred Scott Vs Sandford Essay
Dred Scott v. Sandford
Dred Scott was an African American man that went to trial to sue for his freedom in 1847. He
was living in Missouri, which was a slave state. He was then taken to Illinois and Minnesota, they
were both free states. Dred Scott was sold to Sandford in a free state and tried to sue for his
freedom. The United States Supreme court said that African ancestry whether you were free or
not, will never become citizens of the United States and cannot sue in a federal court. ( Taney,
1857) Sandford had him as a slave for a long period of time when Dred Scott finally chose to sue.
The Declaration of Independence and the The Constitution had never included or mentioned slaves

resembled the Emancipation Proclamation, which stated the constitutional implications of the Dred
Scott case.
After eleven long years of fighting for freedom, Chief Justice Roger Taney announced that slaves
were not citizens of the United States and therefore had no rights to sue in federal courts. He also
said that slaves have no rights that a white man will have respect for. After making this decision
they declared that the Missouri Compromise was unconstitutional and Congress did not have
authority to prohibit slavery.
The case was so controversial after the Dred Scott case that Eliza Irene Sandford returned the

The Harmful Effects Of The Body
Typically when one thinks about chemicals, cleaning products come to mind, but when poison is
added to the equation the mind jumps to more dangerous items such as cyanide or acids. What
is rarely thought of is plastic, food, or even water. Many people are unaware of harmful
chemicals that are in everyday items. It is important to be aware of what enters the body
because the side effects can be harmful and in some cases deadly. Certain chemicals are not only
harmful to the current generation, but also to future ones. Avoidance is only possible with
knowledge of the dangers chemicals found in common goods present. Every single day people
use, ingest or come in contact with chemicals that they are not even aware of. Many everyday
items have harmful chemicals in them that people did not even think was possible. A large
number of everyday items such as canned goods, plastic, water, cooking ware, clothing, and
even receipts can contain harmful substances. These substances are damaging and can be fatal
(Antoniades, 2013). There are also a great number of foods that are genetically modified. Some
of these foods may not be expected to be genetically modified including corn, zucchini, yellow
squash, and papayas. Most processed foods contain a chemical called Monosodium
Glutamate(MSG), but studies have revealed that MSG is the least of our problems right now.

Pueblo Revolt Research Paper
The Pueblo Revolt of 1680 is an important event in U.S. history having been the first complete
victory for Native Americans against any European nation. One of the major conflicts between the
Pueblo Indians and the Spanish colonists was their different religions. Many historians believe that
the Pueblo Indians revolted against the Spanish in order to eliminate Catholicism because it was
threatening their own beliefs. Many Spanish officials interpret the Pueblo Revolt as being
unnecessary and guided by the devil. The continuing study of this historical event will allow current

Many of those documents, however, were destroyed during the Pueblo Revolt when the natives
burned down government buildings and records. However, previously to the Pueblo Revolt,
Spanish government officials had sent out reports which shed a light on the relations between
Spaniards and Pueblo Indians prior to the revolt. With new understanding of popular Indian beliefs,
historians are now able to adjust the one sided interpretations that European nations developed
when documenting their relationship with the natives. Historians who are well informed of
popular Indian beliefs, have interpreted the Pueblo Revolt was an act to reject Catholicism
because it was threatening their own culture. The Pueblo Revolt was an attempt to preserve the
kind of life which they thought the gods had ordained and which aliens were obviously destroying

The Hardy Weinberg Principle, No Natural Selection
Design
Research Question:
If all five conditions mentioned within the Hardy Weinberg Principle are met (random mating, large
populations, no mutations, no migration, no natural selection), will the population remain in
genetic equilibrium?
Background Information:
The Hardy Weinberg Principle or the Hardy Weinberg Equilibrium Model states that alleleand
genotype frequencies in a population will remain constant from generation to generation in the
absence of other evolutionary influences (Version, T.). In order for genetic equilibrium to be
maintained, five conditions must be met:
Random Mating: all individuals within a population must have an equal opportunity to pass on their
alleles
Large Populations: random changes in allele ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
p2 + 2pq + q2 = 1 ; where p2 represents the homozygous dominant genotype, 2pq represents the
heterozygous genotype, and q2 represents the homozygous recessive genotype
This equation is used to calculate the genotype frequency, so 1 = 100% of the population.
Hypothesis:
In a large, randomly mating population where mutations, migration, and natural selection are no
longer viable, the allele and genotypic frequencies will remain at equilibrium. If any of these
conditions are changed, then the allele and genotype frequencies will be unable to maintain genetic
equilibrium.

Controlled Variable(s) The control group is the first group of data taken with the cheerios where
there is random mating, large population (100 alleles), no mutations, no migration, and no natural

Control of Variables:
In this experiment, in order to conform to the requirements of the Hardy Weinberg Principle, it is
necessary to control five differing factors:
1.Random Mating
2.Large Populations
3.Absence of Mutations
4.Absence of Migration
5.Absence of Natural Selection
In order to control all of these factors throughout the experiment, one must randomly select the
alleles (cheerios), must have a larger population size

Shawnee Tribe Research Paper
The Shawnee Tribe, since first encountering Europeans in 1677, the group has encountered issues,
such as population decrease. But as of twenty first century, the tribe has regained a following. For
the most part, the Shawnee have abandoned their nomadic roots. They have taken on modern tasks,
realizing that they would need to keep up with the times in order to survive. Currently occupying
regions of Oklahoma and Missouri, the tribe has split into three large groups, the Absentee
Shawnee, Eastern Shawnee, and Loyal Shawnee. Together, the three groups have around 8,000
members in total. The customs and traditions of the Shawnee have for the most part, been
abandoned by its people. However, the Absentee shows a strong connection with their culture....

The Eastern Shawnee also maintained partial ownership in several oil wells near the reservation.
Each of the groups found ways to prosper, and in doing so, they gained a following. Early 21st
century population estimates indicated some 12,000 individuals of Shawnee relations, by descent
or affiliation. The three main Shawnee groups are striving for economic self sufficiency and they
are meeting their goals. They are better off than many tribes and have better housing, with casinos
helping to fund programs to improve the lives of tribe members and provide employment for some
of their people. In spite of the fact that the Shawnee tribe has encountered firm improvements in the
21st Century, for example, a casino, school, and smoke shop, the tribe has almost deserted their
culture like their language and religions. Tradition is important, but sacrifices must be made in
order to survive. With the sacrifices, the tribe has been able to flourish in the 21st century, andhe
tribe is much better off than other tribes in the

Brain Observation
On the 12 of March of 2016 I went to McAllen International Museum of Arts Science (IMAS) to
attend an exposition about the brain. The exposition covered the entire museum, especially one big
room where there were many interactive activities. Although the room was full of people (mostly
kids), I had the opportunity to experience some of the activities. These activities were all related to
the brainand the way it reacted to certain situations. Each activity covered a different aspect of the
brain, for example, there was one activity in which the participant had to catch a ruler with two
fingers, the first time you try it with your strong hand(in my case the right hand), and the second
time, with the hand that it is used the least. In the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Brain teasers are puzzles created with the intention to test the brain function and/or to show
people the reality of how their brains work. These puzzles challenge the brain and test out our
cognitive abilities, the cognitive abilities are more about how we function, these abilities help
us achieve complex and easy task of the everyday life. There are many cognitive abilities and
they vary depending on what part of the brain you are using. Naturally, as the time passes by and
we grow older our cognitive abilities start to decline little by little especially if they are not used
often but there are many options that help to prevent a fast decline on the abilities. Overall I had
a very good time at the museum, the time went fast by and I was able to learn a lot of how my
brain functions. A great thing was that it not only covered brain function but also food and the
calories which was also very informative. I think it was especially good that the activities were
very interactive, when I went to the museum I was expecting a 3 hour long speech about the brain
and its functions, but it turned out to be a great, fun, hands on learning experience which I enjoyed

Essay about Emory Healthcare s New System to Reduce Errors
During the 1980 s and 90 s there were many studies done that showed that medical errors were
occurring in inpatient and outpatient settings at a very high rate. Computer Provider Order Entry
(CPOE) systems were designed to reduce or eliminate mistakes made by using hand written orders.
The CPOE system allows users to directly enter their orders into the system on computers which
are then sent directly to the healthcare providers that will be implementing the orders. Previously
orders were placed by writing on order sheets on patient charts. This was sometimes done by the
doctoror by a nurse acting on behalf of the doctor. Order sheets were then signed by the doctor and
then the information was input into the patient s record. This left... Show more content on

Some doctors believed that the CPOE system did not improve the quality of care as you needed to
be computer literate in order to use it.
The change from the manual system to the CPOE system was met with mixed reactions.
Classes were held to train employees with the system and Emory used Application Content Experts,
healthcare workers that had received special training in the CPOE system, as assistants to those
needing help, and a special hotline was set up to help with any questions.
In my opinion it was a good decision for Emory to implement the CPOE system as it will limit
the number of errors occurring and in the end save costs and lives. It was also a good decision to
roll out system out in one of their smaller units as an initial trial run. They were able to work out
some of the bugs in the system by doing so. They also did a good job with their training and the
ACE assistants and implementing the hot line.
Although all of those steps were positive, they should have offered additional training and they
should make extra training available for those that request it. In order for Emory to have a smooth
roll out when they introduce the CPOE system at EUHM they will need to more clearly define the
roles of the users of the system in order to reduce redundancies in the orders and clarifying the
responsibilities of the

Critique Paper 2: Reading 17 Discovering Love
In the mid 1900s, Harry Harlow took investigated a new field of research and began studying the
components between infant mother love, especially the importance of contact comfort. Harlow was
interested in manipulating the mother figure of infants to identify the root of bonds and love; but
since this could easily become unethical to study with humans, he used rhesus monkeys. Based on
Freud s hypothesis, one would think that the importance of receiving milk would be the primary
root of a bond between the infant and the mother, but Harlow found that contact comfort was
incredibly important, even more so than receiving food (Hock, 2013). Why is it that when sad or
unhappy, many seek comfort in teddy bears? The animal is unable to verbally comfort someone
upset, but the touch of something soft and cuddly is pacifying and calming. The comfort received
from stuffed animals reinforces Harlow s discovery that providing ... Show more content on

The experiment involved separating infant rhesus monkeys from their mother and providing a
surrogate made of either soft cloth or wire (Harlow, 1958). The infant monkeys were not physically
harmed, but the stress from open field tests and the effect on attachment is emotionally harmful.
This experiment would never be ethical on human children because it involves separating the child
from their mother and experimenting with their attachment and love of their parent. It is also
questionable if the actions and reactions of the rhesus monkeys can be directly applied to humans.
Harlow claims that the bonding and affection responses of the monkeys and humans are the same,
yet I believe there should be more research to compare the responses of humans versus those of
rhesus monkeys. After all, one cannot apply the actions and responses of dogs to those of cats,
even though biologically they too are rather

A gust of warm wind embraces my skin as mama and I sit on a bench under the old tulip tree and
talk of the upcoming spring picnic. The water before of me twinkles as a thousand stars and my
younger twin brothers run wild around our cottage. In this moment life feels perfect. Although in
a blink of an eye life changed from perfect to a nightmare as mama grasped my hand and fell to
the ground below. When papa appears in front of me, I realize I have been screaming. In one
single motion, he lifts mama up and carries her off to the carriage to take her to doctor Stanton. In
that instant my perfect moment ends. Scarlet fever leads to death in almost every case, or at least

Romeo And Juliet Analysis
Romeo and Juliet is a tragedy written by William Shakespeare early in his career about two
young star crossed lovers whose deaths ultimately reconcile their feuding families. Arguably one
of his most recognisable plays, it has been performed and adapted thousands of times into films,
theatre, and music, and continues to have a major impact on society today. As the play gets older,
it is still being performed to modern audiences but is this play gradually becoming aged and
irrelevant to the modern audience? Will it need translation into contemporary English to remain
relevant? Through the theme of fate and exploring the work of the modernised film of Baz
Luhrmann, we can conclude whether the traditional Romeo and Juliet will need a translation into
modern English. Baz Luhrmann is the director of the modernised film Romeo and Juliet written by
Shakespeare in the 1700s. Baz Luhrmann s film interpretation of Romeo and Juliet, uses the same
old English that Shakespeare s text is written in, his first scene could not be more different than the
traditional opening to Romeo and Juliet. The Baz Luhrmann Version of Shakespeare s Romeo and
Juliet has a different setting compared to that of the play. The director had decided to modernise
the whole play. By modernising the play, changes to the weapons they used, their method of
transportation and their homes, were made. Instead of using swords in the play, they used guns in
the movie. Instead of walking, they travelled by car and

Service Line Development Task 2
When analyzing the community health assessment several risks and weakness are identified.
There are a few risks and weakness with the current state of Oncology Services. With physicians
practices already at capacity there is no room to handle the current and future demand for these
services. With an aging population new cancer cases are expected to increase by 34 % in five
years. Higher smoking rates also contribute to new cancer diagnosis. Another riskis the equipment to
diagnose and treat cancer is not keeping up with patient volume. This could be due to antiquated
equipment that takes longer to scan patients therefore delaying results and sometimes requiring
additional scanning. Additionally, poorly coordination of services by... Show more content on

As with cancer and orthopedics there will be a large increase in demand for cardiovascular
services in the next five years. As obesity increase there will be an increase in high blood
pressure, high cholesterol and diabetes which will lead to an increase in cardiovascular services.
A risk would be not securing the funding to add the additional cath labs, surgical suites, and
cardiac rehab program. Without these services the hospitals will not be able accommodate the
growth. Another risk is recruiting enough qualified physicians to provide care to the growing
population. Because no emphasis is placed on education cardiac risk factors, healthy living, and
lifestyle modification the demand for these services will increase dramatically becoming a
weakness of the hospital.
Currently there is no formal oncology, orthopedic, or cardiology programs at Trinity although there
are a few orthopedic surgeons and cardiologists that maintain privileges at the hospital. There are
no cancer specialists that practice at the hospital but a group composed of eight medical
oncologists and two radiation oncologists has expressed interest in an affiliation to develop a
cancer program. Should the hospital decide to develop this program there is adequate vacant space
on the campus that is suitable for medical and radiation oncology. Currently the hospital is not

Assignment #3: iPremier
BADM 350 1. How well did the iPremier Company perform during the seventy five minute attack?
If you were Bob Turley, what might you have done differently during the attack?
Normally, a company would follow emergency procedures while dealing with crises, but in
iPremier s case, there was no emergency procedure available. Under these circumstances, and with
no prior experience with security breaches, I believe the company performed well. Bob Turley
communicated well with the other members of the company, but if I were in his shoes, I would
have been more conservative and acted faster.
In responding to the crisis, there were two main issues that iPremier faced understanding the attack,
and restoring order. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
iPremier s procedures were absolutely deficient. They had an outdated emergency manual that
employees couldn t find, and almost couldn t access the data center. Additional measures they
could have implemented long before the attack include revising the emergency procedure and
making sure all employees know how to follow it. 3. Now the attack has ended, what can the
iPremier Company do to prepare for another such attack?
While I mentioned revising the emergency procedure in the previous question, there are other ways
to prepare as well. iPremier could implement a method to escalate unsatisfactory service from Qdata
to higher level management; if they switch to a data center with open lines of communication, the
next crisis would be easier to handle, or it might even be completely averted. 4. In the aftermath of
the attack, what would you be worried about? What actions would you recommend?
I would be worried about three issues, including the identity and motivation of the hacker, the
amount of data that was taken from iPremier, and public disclosure. Since Bob didn t pull the
plug, there is a log documenting what happened during the attack I would start by analyzing the
log and trying to solve the first two issues. Public disclosure is a legal matter, yet it affect thee
public image of iPremier, so I would consult with both Warren and Stewart to see both PR and legal
s perspective on the attack, and formulate a public statement

Essay about The American Civil War
The American Civil War was from 1861 to 1865 it was a civil war between the United States of
America and the Southern slave states of the newly formed Confederate States of America under
Jefferson Davis. The Union included all of the free states and the five slaveholding border states
and was led by Abraham Lincolnand the Republican Party. Republicans opposed the expansion of
slavery into territories owned by the United States, and their victory in the presidential election of
1860 resulted in seven Southern states declaring their secession from the Union even before
Lincoln took office. The Union rejected secession, regarding it as rebellion. Hostilities began on

Confederate resistance collapsed after Lee surrendered to Grant at Appomattox Court House in
April 1865. The war, the deadliest in American history, caused 620,000 soldier deaths and an
undetermined number of civilian casualties, ended slavery in the United States, restored the Union
by settling the issues of nullification and secession and strengthened the role of the Federal
government. However, issues affected by the war s unresolved social, political, economic and
racial tensions continue to shape contemporary American thought. The Civil War Memorial, in
Sycamore, Illinois, it is located in front of the DeKalb County Courthouse on a public square, it
was shown in 1896 and dedicated in 1897. The monument is constructed from a combination of
marble, masonry and the metal used for the sculpted copper and masonry soldiers. The structure
also incorporated wood into its design. The front facade is adorned with a marble plate engraved
with an excerpt from U.S. President Abraham Lincoln s Gettysburg Address, also marble faced, are
emblazoned with the names of major battles and campaigns of the war.

What actually defines success? In the book We Were Liars, written by E. Lockhart, the
protagonist Cadence Sinclair is starting to reinvent herself, as she becomes more and more aware

idea of heroism, and the too often gruesome consequences it might bring. That it more frequently

  • 2. Chris Brown Satire Although it sounds like an odd question, it is appropriate. Until this assignment I never realized that society holds a lower standard for our celebrities, even dismissing when our super stars put the general public in danger. This is why I believe celebrities should have harsher punishments. For example, how many of you listen to the singer Chris Brown, do you know he got away with assault charges? For those of you who knew he was guilty of assault, but not punished, did it affect your respect and influence your support of Chris Brown? How many of you remember Justin Bieber, and his dangerous driving and assault charges in Toronto? Of course, those charges were dropped. He was spending the day with Selena Gomez. It is fortunate for Bieber ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I know this problem cannot be fixed overnight. The law enforcement officers, the Judges, and the rest of the justice system should be ashamed in the way that celebrities are getting away with crimes. I believe that this should be a topic that the public should be made aware of. In the atmosphere of public outcry, the justice system would remedy the unfairness immediately. I know that not everyone will be accepting of this and not see the point in putting harsher punishments on celebrities for crimes. I think that if enough people knew about more than just the handful of celebrities that have had the charges dropped in their criminal cases and the number of celebrities that have gotten away with crimes than more people would believe in the un equality of celebrities and non celebrities. When society realizes that celebrities not only are setting the crime tone for our youth but for the next generations of our youth and so on. One who holds public offices, works for society, or has celebrity status should be held to a higher standard. I believe that because of the celebrities who have gotten away with crimes the youth in our nation have been motivated to do crimes. Not only are our young people growing up in a society that lets people get away with crimes like assault but the ones who do get caught are being let of with lesser charges then they deserve. Laws and punishments are in place to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. The Works Of Banksy By Henry David Thoreau As Henry David Thoreau states: the world is but a canvas to our imagination is pragmatic in the sense of what is defined as art. The mere act of shaping art onto the simplicity of paper is condoned while walls, streets, and bridges become the norm. A rugged description, yet so valid in this case. This principle is exemplified in the works of Banksy. Banksy is my chosen artist. His works are authentic, yet aesthetically defined in the most unusual places. His method of art is likewise fascinating for he uses bold sardonic street artand dissident witticisms combined with graffitiperformed in idiosyncratic stenciling techniques to portray various messages. As findthemag.com states, Banksy uses broad, complex abstractions and reducing them into something palatable. I agree with this statement. Also, the term Banksy is a pseudonym for his unique identity that remains quite unconfirmed. This is enthralling an artist who refrains from claiming his own art? This idea might sound confounding to some, but it adds fervor to my fondness of his art. Nonetheless, Robin Banx (original moniker, a shortened form of robbing banks) or Banksy are a few of the flamboyant monikers for a revolutionary street artist who is most known for his controversial stenciled pieces in public property. His stencils incorporated descriptively starching messages that are both humorous as well as meaningful. His messages ranged from antiviolence to an economic standpoint an audacious representation ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Life After High School Life after high school can be one of the most difficult decisions in your life. And it is not just one decision, the college you choose can alter many aspects of your life. When you attempt to choose a school to go to you have to take into consideration many things. You have to know the major you want to go for, the minors, location, tuition cost, et cetera. I have so many options for the next step in my life. For this paper, however, I have narrowed it down to two options: Miami University and the University of Cincinnati. It is a close race between the two, but based on my recent visit to Miami going there for college would be the better option for my future. Money is an issue for mostly all college students, everyone is always worried about the debt they will obtain by going through schooling and how they are going to pay it off. Unless someone can get a full ride scholarship, you are going to have to owe money to the university you go to. My solution is that I will be making enough money after college to pay it off pretty quickly so I do not have to owe too much money throughout my life. Miami tuition is around $15,000 and room and board is around $13,000 so the total is somewhere close to $28,000 ( 2017 Cohort ). Cincinnati tuition is $11,000 and room and board can be from $11,000 to $13,000, so between $22,000 and $24,000 would be the total ( UC Facts ). I intend to get scholarships through various companies or associations to bring the total price per year down. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Missing Women There is a huge number of missing women in Canada, and an extremely large number of these women are Aboriginal. Why do Aboriginal women seem more vulnerable? The majority of these missing Aboriginal women were living on the streets, living in poverty and working in the sex trade industry before their disappearances. Why were all of these women in the same situation? I believe that the Conflict Theory explains the hardships, the abuse and the discrimination that each of these women faced before they went missing. The Conflict Theory states that society is marked by power struggles over scarce resources; inequities result in conflict; social change is inevitable. Since the theft of Aboriginal land and destruction of traditional ways of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Aboriginal students were taught to devalue everything Aboriginal and value anything Euro Canadian. The damage done by residential schools is evident today as Aboriginal people, long deprived of parenting skills, struggle with family responsibilities. The victimization of Aboriginal women accelerated with the breakdown of Aboriginal cultural values and the abuse suffered by Aboriginal children in the schools contributed to family breakdown. This began a cycle of abuse in Aboriginal communities, with women and children being the primary victims. Aboriginal women and their children suffer tremendously as victims in contemporary Canadian society. They are the victims of racism, of sexism and of inconceivable levels of domestic violence as well as incomprehensible crimes like murder. The tragedy of missing Aboriginal women runs deep into the history of Aboriginal dispossession and discrimination; it s not just about missing Aboriginal women; its health issues, housing issues, economic security, drug and alcohol abuse, mental health, racism, and all of those social factors that create a situation of Aboriginal women becoming victims. Canada contributes to the issue of missing women by failing to address human rights issues for women. Canada has failed to provide adequate assistance to women and girls living in poverty. First, people s opinion about the 1950s American housewife will start this part. Then, two of the four main characters will show the stay at home mother pattern. One of them, Bree Van De Kamp s character will show that this type of housewife is also capable of doing immoral things and Lynette is going to show the power of women. Last, Susan Mayer who is able to do everything on her own even as a single parent mother who stays at home with the children and Gabrielle will represent the life phase which changed because of pregnancy. Desperate Housewivesis a television series about the suburban life of four women. The official website of the show says: Welcome to Desperate Housewives. Afghanistan Post-2014 ANALYTICAL PAPER AFGHANISTAN POST 2014; By: Waqas Sulehri AFGHANISTAN POST 2014; IMPERATIVES, DRIVERS AND SCENARIOS Introduction 1.Afghanistan has remained under challenging conditions since 1979 with major transitional periods almost every decade that badly affected the lives of its people. Firstly, war against former USSR, then an internal war, and lately a war along as well as against the US led NATO forces, which has had its effects inside Afghanistanas well as neighbourhood, particularly Pakistan. Although the latest war (post 9/11) has been a result of actions taken by non Afghan individuals and groups , main victims have been the people of Afghanistan. With another transition approaching in 2014 when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Economic development is considered critical to Afghanistan s ability for shaping its future, particularly after foreign assistance reduces or dries out. Apart from Govt s role to improve checks balances (besides reducing corruption) to develop growth potential through foreign assistance, internal security is prerequisite for foreign companies/vendors to undertake developmental work in Afghanistan. Another factor that may hinder the process is the fact that Afghan society has yet not recovered from the losses of wars during last 30 years that left 2 million dead, 700,000 widows orphans, and about one million Afghan children born in Refugee camps. This factor along with poor literacy rate provides limited skilled labour, middle managers, accountants, and information professionals. (2)Foreign Financial Assistance/Aid. Currently, financial assistance / donor aid accounts for 95% of Afghanistan s GDP. Besides running the state affairs and undertaking developmental works, a sizeable amount is spent on training and sustenance of ANSF, which until now is fully supported through foreign financial aid (majority being provided by the US). • 11. Biblical And Mythological Allusions Of Moby Dick Moby Dick is Herman Melville s masterpiece, a purposeful novel that acts both as a documentary of a sea voyage but also a philosophical allusion on life as a whole. Moby Dick is far beyond its time in reference to its use of allusion within its text. In this novel, Herman Melville frequently uses biblical and mythological allusions. With these strategic allusions, the reader is able to begin to understand the topics of discussion within the book and is also exposed to the wisdom and potential knowledge Melville possesses. Melville uses many Biblical and mythological references in the form of character stories, which I found beneficial in helping interpret the texts meaning (Howard, 27). This paper will discuss the Biblical and Mythological allusions that Melville s use in Moby Dickin the hopes to develop a deeper understanding of the issues Melville was hoping to address. An Allusion is a brief and indirect reference to a well known person, place, thing, cultural, historical, or literary work (Delahunty, 24). As Described by Andrew Delahunty in the Oxford Dictionary of Reference and Allusion, allusions form a colorful extension to the English language, drawing on our collective knowledge of literature, mythology, and the Bible to help us connect and interpret literature (26). Though an allusion is used to reference something significant, it does not describe in detail the person or thing to which it is referring too. Writers often use allusions as just a passing comment ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Pros And Cons Of The Electoral College There are some that would argue that the Electoral College should not be abolished. Williams argued, According to 2013 census data, nine states California, Texas, New York, Florida, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Georgia, and Michigan have populations that total roughly 160 million, slightly more than half the U.S. population. It is conceivable that just nine states could determine the presidency in a popular vote (Williams). Consequently, without the Electoral College, nine states can possibly determine the results of an election. Those that support the Electoral College think that electionsshould be by state instead of a vote per person. The Electoral College can keep unqualified candidates from winning an election and therefore, become president. Talents for low intrigue, and the little arts of popularity, may alone suffice to elevate a man to the first honors in a single State; but it will require other talents, and a different kind of merit, to establish him in the esteem and confidence of the whole Union, or of so considerable a portion of it as would be necessary to make him a successful candidate for the distinguished office of President of the United States. The GDL is available in all 50 states. Since the decrease of teenage accidents have been declining some states are making the GDL a law in the state. Car crashes are the number one death of teenagers, a lot of these deaths are by the use of technology and not buckling up. To begin, the National safety council reports that 28% of vehicle crashes , are caused by the use of technology (Klass Roney 5). Many accidents are caused by teens looking at their phones and the use of social media behind the wheel. If more stricter laws are set on phones in cars that percentage should fall. In general, the use of phones today by people is just about everyone and people should be more smart and not be using their phones while driving not just for their safety but others. Furthermore, the amount of teens that die in car accidents is Four times the amount of drivers twentyfive to sixtynine (Klass Roney 3). Younger drivers do not buckle up as many other older and experienced drivers. The more young drivers that are taught what the real impacts of not wearing a seatbelt can cause they would probably be more wise. Generally speaking, some young teen drivers do not see the seatbelt as being important, when really it is the most important thing in the car. • 14. Descriptive Essay About A Song One day during my sophomore year of high school while I was waiting for my class to start, I decided to explore new genres of music and artists that I haven t listened to before. I was sitting on the floor outside of my classroom searching through Spotify for something new and exciting. After looking through the Classic Rock section on Spotify, I came across the band Queen. Since that moment, I have been and avid Queen listener and have listened to all their songs. I have been particularly fond of their albums The Game, The Miracle and Night at the Opera. The first Queen song I heard was Bohemian Rhapsody from the album Night at the Opera. It was around 7:45 am, the morning was very still and quiet and the sky was clear. My surroundings became increasingly louder as the school day was about to begin and it was a cool morning unlike the typical Floridian morning weather. After scrolling through various Queen songs on Spotify, I stumbled upon as song I have heard about through friends but not listened to: Bohemian Rhapsody. Just like the eerily still morning, the exposition of the song was smooth and relaxed. The beginning of the song sounded like there were many voices in harmony and the hazy, smooth timbre resonated in my ear buds. The lyrics of the song matched with the eerie quality of the voices, the lyrics indicate that the singers are in some state of confusion and are unclear of their surroundings. Originally written as a folk song of the Andalusian music, this song has increasingly changed throughout the years to become the famously known flamenco style by the 19th century. The manner Lucarelli was able to use his classical guitar skills in order to enhance an image of adventure mixed with tragedy and victory can only be seen as complete brilliance. This composition has been successful not only because of it s versatility but the high levels of energy and emotions put into the development of this work. • 19. Racial And Ethnic Group Interactions Racial and ethnic group interactions occur daily in the world; in Miami, however one can learn from the interactions between different ethnic and racial groups in a workplace setting. Mr. Elman adapted his management style of his apparel factory to the needs of his immigrant workers; his style helped reduce ethnic friction and returned his investment in high production levels and loyalty (Stepick, 92). Mr. Elman was successful in getting his employees to willingly agree to pay a cut, which exemplifies how much clout Mr. Elman had amongst his workers (Stepick, 93). The previous success that the factory had under his management would likely not be found again under the American management style, partly because the workers were used to Mr. Elman. Also after more Haitian workers were hired, the Miami Cubans seemed to create a notion of seniority when decisions had to be made, but instead of the senior member not working they would opt to work, leaving the new Haitian workers without work (Stepick, 103). Mr. Elman eventually sold his apparel factory and new more American managers moved in, these managerial practices took away the things that lead to a positive work environment and high productivity: personal fans, individual radios, and hot plates (Stepick, 93). • 20. Ernest Hemingway Apathetic American Stereotypes Apathetic Americans Stereotypes have shaped the way people think about the World and everyone around them. They are undeniably over exaggerated, but are based on a sliver of truth. For example, stereotypical Americans are seen as rude, stupid, greedy, and very patriotic. In the case of Americans, Donald J. Trump is the embodiment of the American stereotype. During his presidential campaign, Trump made many vulgar remarks, and his goal was to make America great again. These American stereotypes are also apparent in Ernest Hemingway s short stories, most notably in Cat in the Rain, The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber, and the interchapters of In Our Time. Hemingway s short stories portray Americans as being insensitive to the World around them. Americans are insensitive through their insatiable greed, emotional unawareness, and cultural disregard. Hemingway s Americans continual desire for more alienates them from the rest of society, proving their lack of understanding for the world. In Cat in the Rain, an American couple is vacationing in Italy. Instead of admiring the beauty of their surroundings, the Americans instead focus on irrelevant trivial pursuits, illustrating their greed. After going down to retrieve the cat, the wife is immediately attracted to the hotel owner, proving Americans ever evolving want for new things: She liked the way he wanted to serve her. [...] She liked his old, heavy face and big hands (Hemingway 130). Instead of staying loyal to her husband, the American wife forgets he exists and moves on to the next best person she finds, showing the apathy Americans possess for what they already have. Additionally, the hotel owner is simply doing his job, and the American wife s failure to realize this results from her greed, which severely clouds her judgement. The greed Americans possess is further proven with the American wife s childish behavior throughout the story. When the wife cannot find the cat, she complains, I wanted it so much [...] I don t know why I wanted it so much (130). Back in the hotel room, the wife demands to her husband that she want[s] to pull [her] hair back, and to have a kitty to sit on [her] lap and purr when [she] stroke[s] her (131). The ... Nowadays, there are many kinds of necklaces you can choose from meaning that you may have a difficult time in deciding what kind of necklace you like best. • 24. The Financial Accounting Standards Board Essay On February 26, 2016, the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) issued an Accounting Standards Update (ASU) which revised the standards on leasing. The intent for this revision was to improve how leases are being reported on the financial statements. The consensus is that the classification tests in current use for making this determination fail to provide a faithful and accurate representation for leasing transactions in general. In 2005, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission had also made recommendations which indicated this need for change in regard to how leases were being reported. Overall, it is believed that this change would ensure greater transparency in the financial statements concerning these type transactions. As commonplace as leasearrangements are, accounting for leases are not quite so clear cut. One of the hotly debated topics for leasing standards that is currently being discussed is how off balance sheet financing presents an erroneous and misleading view of a company s true financial position. This problem began when companies would plan ways to circumvent the rules currently under U.S. GAAP in attempts to classify leases as operating leases when in actuality they were capital leases. An example of this when a company purposely designs the leasing arrangements so that the lease ends at 74% of the asset s estimated life whereas one of the U.S. GAAP criteria for leases directs that it must be a non cancellable lease term that is ... • 25. Persuasive Language In Narrative Of The Life Of Frederick... In the book Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass written by himself, Douglass writes about his experiences as a slave in the 1800 s. In the beginning of the book, he explains that he does not know his age because most slaves are not allowed to know their age. Douglass recalls the memory of his aunt getting tied and whipped until she was covered in blood at a very young age. He reveals to us that slaves only get extremely limited allowances throughout a year. Children barely get any clothing to wear, while all of them just get barely enough food to survive, He also says that slaves have to lie half the time to avoid getting whipped and beaten. This book gives us a real insight on how bad slavery was, how Douglass coped with it, and eventually how he escapes from it later in the book. Douglass uses persuasive language to show the true colors of slavery, and he uses his own experiences of being a slave himself to his advantage by giving us accounts of his life as a slave. In this essay, I want to focus on the truth, why slaves have to lie their way out of certain situations, and go more in depth of how Douglass language is highly persuasive to the abolitionists of that time. I want to focus on one specific part in this essay, a part that is very descriptive, persuasive, and analyze deep into the text. At the time, religion and state were known for their disagreements of power. So using this strong voice to almost demand for religion s steady position in the country means that the church was determined to stay in the country of England. The King agrees most likely due to him being in front of all the people, he cannot object even if he wanted to. Once the Cardinal is convinced of his promise he will give to him the special articles. This shows that the Church was determined to stay in England if they were deliberate on whether or not the promise was genuine. The Cardinal then swears in the King that his power belongs to the Church of God, the clergy and it s people. This is a demand of the King s power be given to the Church and the people of England, it is almost saying that while we may have a King he is to serve God and the people first. The King then swears to his power for God. The Cardinal also speaks of equal and rightful justice with mercy and truth. This means that the King must understand that he must be fair in his judgements to which he agrees to do. Then there is the point made about the laws of the worship of God to be strengthened and defended which means that the King should make a point of keeping church in England. Drinking a cup of coffee has become an essential part of our morning routine. A study by statisticbrain.com showed that 54% of Americans over the age of 18 drank an average cup size being 9 ounces coffee every day. Coffee consumption has been dated to 10th century Ethiopia, and since then it has evolved alongside the technology of each era. With the introduction of the espresso machine during the French Revolution, more people started to create and mix their coffee into different drinks, ranging from cappuccinos to cocktails. As we know, coffee naturally produces caffeine. During the early 1900 s people wanted to enjoy their coffee flavored drinks but didn t want the caffeine addiction that came with it. For this reason and motivated by the belief that caffeine had poisoned his father, Ludwig Roselius invented the first commercially successful decaffeination process in 1903. This process reduces the moisture content of the cherries to below 15%. A large number of everyday items such as canned goods, plastic, water, cooking ware, clothing, and even receipts can contain harmful substances. These substances are damaging and can be fatal (Antoniades, 2013). There are also a great number of foods that are genetically modified. Some of these foods may not be expected to be genetically modified including corn, zucchini, yellow squash, and papayas. Harlow was interested in manipulating the mother figure of infants to identify the root of bonds and love; but since this could easily become unethical to study with humans, he used rhesus monkeys. Based on Freud s hypothesis, one would think that the importance of receiving milk would be the primary root of a bond between the infant and the mother, but Harlow found that contact comfort was incredibly important, even more so than receiving food (Hock, 2013). Romeo And Juliet Analysis Romeo and Juliet is a tragedy written by William Shakespeare early in his career about two young star crossed lovers whose deaths ultimately reconcile their feuding families. Arguably one of his most recognisable plays, it has been performed and adapted thousands of times into films, theatre, and music, and continues to have a major impact on society today. As the play gets older, it is still being performed to modern audiences but is this play gradually becoming aged and irrelevant to the modern audience? Will it need translation into contemporary English to remain relevant? Through the theme of fate and exploring the work of the modernised film of Baz Luhrmann, we can conclude whether the traditional Romeo and Juliet will need a translation into modern English. Baz Luhrmann is the director of the modernised film Romeo and Juliet written by Shakespeare in the 1700s. Baz Luhrmann s film interpretation of Romeo and Juliet, uses the same old English that Shakespeare s text is written in, his first scene could not be more different than the traditional opening to Romeo and Juliet. The Baz Luhrmann Version of Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet has a different setting compared to that of the play. The director had decided to modernise the whole play.
