Personal Finance Management And Investment Recommendations
Personal Finance Management Investment Recommendations The definition of personal finance is
often defined as being the application of financial principles within an individual or family unit. Such
application includes: budgeting, saving, spending, and assessing risks. Evidently, such financial
management is of great importance. Therefore, in this paper, I will provide an overview of an
individual s personal finances by referencing their investment style and briefly stating their financial
objective. In addition, I will provide some recommendations said individual should consider with the
purpose of aligning their investment choices with their overall financial goal. Let s us start off by
discussing some facts that were provided by the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Now, let us calculate what his investment style will amount to if he were to continue making the same
investment choices until retirement. To start off, we can see that Joe is not a risky investor; he has only
invested in individual accounts, certificate of deposits, and his 401k. In addition, he saves an average
of 10% of each paycheck (which we will assume to be $5,000 annually based on a $50,000 median
household income). As noted earlier, his primary objective is to retire on annual income of $50,000.
We can assume then that his goal is to save approximately $1,250,000 . Therefore, if Joe continues to
invest $5,000 annually ($416.67 monthly) into his saving account for the next 25 years, his
investment, assuming a current balance of $5,000 compounded daily at 0.01% (as currently being
offered by WellsFargo), will amount to about $130,170 . Now, Joe has also invested in certificate of
deposits (CDs). He reported as simply having been reinvesting his original $5,000 for the past six
years. Assuming a stated 0.30% interest rate on a two year CD with daily compounding, his $5,000
investment is now worth about $5,091 . However, he seeks to reinvest this until retirement.
Performing similar calculations, we obtain a grand total of $5,488 . This is what his CD would amount
to if he were to reinvest for the next 25 years. Now, let us proceed to examining his 401k
contributions. Joe contributes, on

American Hip Hop
1. Similar to the hip hop scene in the United States and many other places around the globe, Japan has
a very vibrant hip hop community. It is amazing to see how a genre that was created on the other side
of the planet make its way to Japan, and how they have put their own spin on the genre. They remake
and appropriate it in their recording studios, and in doing so they highlight the various aspects of
Japanese culture in hip hop. The Japanese artists were devoted to the black culture that was evident in
American hip hop, but the B Boys, as their referred to in Japan, found a way to fuse the samurai with
the thug imagery and American rap. Authentic Japanese hip hop is defined by the underground artists,
the ones who were more concerned with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While the genre in Japan is tailored to stay true to their roots by taking the traditional route, there still
is music made predominantly for the club and for that the general public wants to hear. The party rap
scene is depicted by a more playful approach, and is intended to accommodate the female listener first
before anyone else. This is because there is not that much female rappers, as it is a male dominated
industry. Even though these rappers manipulate their language to make the rhymes work, we still find
it difficult for females to create a niche in the industry. The majority of the lyrics are about sex, drugs
and money as well as the Japanese education system as well as the different wars occurring across the
globe. We see that many young Japanese women are emulating American Hip Hop culture out of
appreciation for its ideals. In no way at all are they mocking the culture, but I would not believe for an
instant that Japanese people know what it means to be black due to the great culture gap between
Japan and America. A lot of the women wear the clothes that say, Black is Beautiful but are unable to
even explain what the statement means. Not only women but also everyone is attracted to the genre
due to artists expressing themselves through their appearance, as hip hop culture is about style. The
club hip hop scene definitely is embodied by appearance and this is a form of rap that is specifically
catered to the American female

. These creatures are not dangerous to humans, they are just animals who hunt other animals. This has
become established knowledge, since it has been a never ending goal to bring the wolves back and
help them flourish as they did in the early nineteenth century (Coleman, 2004). I do think that instead
of exterminating the wolf in Durham, we should find it, if it exists, and add a tracking device. It would
be a huge stepping stone in the study of this animal. This could enhance our knowledge on the species
and may even help us form an idea on how to successfully repopulate the states with the species.
Instead of the dark and biased article against the big bad wolf, this piece should take its place. The
negative feelings addressed in the article need to be replaced with positive feelings because this would
be a huge accomplishment for us if it was in fact a wolf that was sited. It would mean all of our past
acts, research, and hard work is finally starting to pay off. Wolves would finally start coming back to
the areas where they never should have disappeared

The Fulfillment Of The Abrahamic Covenant
The Pentatuach offers the reader hope in the fulfillment of the Abrahamic Covenant because
It all began in the covenant with Abraham, God promised many things to him. God promised
numerous descendants, land, and a relationship with him. God s first blessing would provide Abraham
with numerous descendants, which in turn would become a great nation. His second blessing would
provide him and his family with a place to call home. His third blessing states that Abraham will have
a relationship with God. This means that, anyone who blesses Abraham will be blessed by God,
anyone that curses him will be cursed. In return for all of these promises, Abraham and all of his male
members and descendants were circumcised to let God know that they belong to him.
We can believe that the Abrahamic covenant would be fulfilled when, God called Abraham to leave
his country, relatives, and family to go to the land that he was going to be given. God said, I will make
you into a great nation. I will bless you and make you famous, and you will be a blessing to others.
The land that the Lord took Abraham too, was the land that would be given to him and his
descendants. After Abraham was gone, his descendants would be in possession of the land.
Abraham had a vision, where God promised to protect him. Abraham had a hard time believing that
him and his wife would ever have children. God told Abraham that the amount of descendants that he
would have, is equivalent to the amount of stars in the sky.

The Big Black Smiling Mammy, The Sexual Deviant, And The...
The big Black smiling mammy, the sexual deviant, and the angry sapphire are historically depicted
images of Black women. Within the male dominated comic art world, Deborah Whaley s Black
Women in Sequence: Re inking Comics, Graphics Novels, and Anime offer a countervision on the
Black body. Women, especially Black women may welcome this book as a confirmation about
recognizing, representing, and reframing their story. For this audience, Whaley will explore the
historical, racial, and sexual representation of Black women in sequential art pointing out the
imagined Black body through interracial relationships, African fetishism, cultural politics, financial
gains and transnationality.
Whaley deconstructs the comic art world from 1930 to the present by questioning writers , illustrators
, and readers engagement of the mutual fabrication of the black female body and the
(mis)representation of black women in sequential art. She challenges how Blackness is produced and
the absence concerning Black female characters in mainstream comics, comic book writers have used
illustrations of and ideologies about the Black female body to signify the fetish, fear, and fabrication
of Africa (p. 96). Further, she debunks the White male inventions of Blackness and constructs an
argument why sequential art is a feasible form of understanding the visual narrative that reflects
popular literature, identity politics, history, and cultural production from women of African descent. In

Upper House Case Study
It is very evident that Queensland does not have to reinstate an upper house to be an effect
government. This is due to that the original upper house was unable to do its job effectively of
reviewing and negotiating laws and bills. Especially amending money bills that the lower house
passed, due to that its members came from elitist group of wealth and education (Queensland
Parliament, 2010). This elitist upper house resulted in a lacked of diversity, therefore laws that where
made for working class Queenslanders, were rarely passed. Another large benefit of not having an
upper house is that the lower house can debate and process new bills effectively, due to not having an
upper house which can delay bills by up to 6 months. This cuts out the process of being of going
through another house, therefore responding to society as quickly as it changes (Inside Story, 205).
Also the reintroduction of the upper house would also be a costly burden on society, with the
government having to potentially cut representatives in the lower house to compensate for the new
senators (Inside Story, 2015). This cut to the lower house means that there would be less
representatives and more people they are having to represent, therefore missing out on key minority
groups opinions and beliefs in society. Therefore it is very clear that Queensland has no need for an
upper house, and that the state functions adequately without the overruling power. References Inside

William Blake s The Lamb And The Tyger
In 18th Century Britain, the poets of what became known as the Romantic Period sought to
communicate truth in a world where the lofty ideals of The Enlightenment were evaporating to reveal
the harsh realities of a society that favored material progress over spiritual progress. In so doing, these
poets embraced and drew inspiration from the beauties and mysteries of nature in attempts to draw
parallels between the truths they found there and the inner experience of Mankind. Counted among the
several writers who recorded their artistic and emotional responses to the natural world, William Blake
explores the concept of life s dualities and how this concept applied to life in 18th Century Britain, as
well as to the relationship between the body and spirit, in his most popular works, Songs of Innocence
and of Experience: Showing the Two Contrary States of the Human Soul (1794). Two standout poems,
The Lamb and The Tyger, respectively taken from Songs of Innocence and Songs of Experience,
demonstrate Blake s meditation on how innocence and experience in life create a binary and
complementary relationship that is observable in our outer world as well as in our inner being.
As one of the titles in his Songs of Innocence, William Blake chooses the lamb, naturally gentle and
docile, as a representative of the concept of innocence. In Blake s poem, a child shepherd addresses
the lamb, identifying early its clothing of delight, and its tender voice/Making all the vales rejoice

Similarities Between An Occurrence At Owl Creek Bridge...
The Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge, by Ambrose Bierce tells the story of a man being punished for a
crime. While he is dying, he vividly imagines his escape, the one thing that urges him on is the
thought of his family. White Heron, by Sarah Orne Jewett follows a girl named Sylvia who lives in a
small country home with her grandmother. She has a simple life: walking with her cow and hanging
out with the forest creatures. However, when a young hunter arrives on the scene with a very alluring
offer, Sylvia is faced with a tough decision. The setting of the short story, An Occurrence at Owl
Creek Bridge , is in northern Alabama during the Civil War. The short story, A White Heron , takes
place in New England during the summer on a farm. Throughout the short stories both Jewett and
Bierce, describe the similar scenes a pond, a forest, and a faint sunlight.
One similarity between the short stories is both take place by some sort of water. Peyton was near a
stream when he was shot and decided to tried another method of escaping. The humming of the gnats
that danced above the eddies of the stream, the beating of the dragon flies wings, the strokes of the
water spiders legs, like oars which had lifted their boat all these made audible music. A fish slid along
beneath his eyes, and he heard the rush of its body parting the water (Bierce 1505). This quote
describes a stream that was nearby Peyton. It describes a stream of water and the organisms that are
surrounding the stream. Sylvia theory was that if a person climbed the tallest tree in the forest they
would see the ocean. While on the hunt for the White Heron s nesting spot, she climbed the tallest
tree. Sylvia s faced was like a pale star, if one had seen it from the ground, when the last thorny bough
was past, and she stood trembling and tires but wholly triumphant, high in the tree top. Yes, there was
the sea with the dawning sun making a golden dazzle over it, and toward that glorious east flew two
hawks with slow moving pinions (Jewett 1602). This quote shows that Sylvia s view is coming from
the treetop; and she sees the sea and two hawks. At some point in the story, both characters were near
a type of water; Peyton was by a stream and Sylvia was

Genocide In Tasmania By Henry Reynolds Summary
In the Genocide in Tasmania by Henry Reynolds he briefly outlined the masses of killings of

The Dust Storm And Its Impact On The Area Of The Great Plains
Dust storm is an event happened in North America between 1930 and 1936, in some area lasted till

The Massachusetts Of Massachusetts
The Massachusetts Experiment Massachusetts has undergone many changes in their health care
system since enacting a universal health care law in 1988. The effects of the Massachusetts health care
laws are a good indicator of what people should expect from the enactment of the ACA. The multiple
health care reforms in Massachusetts were in an attempt to increase health care coverage while still
maintaining financial stability.
Background
Massachusetts began its health care reform in 1988. Under the direction of Governor Michael Dukakis
(D), a universal health care law was enacted through implementation of a play or pay employer
mandate; unfortunately this implementation suffered multiple postponements (McDonough, Rosman,
Phelps, Shannon, 2006). Some components of the 1988 law were implemented and stand today: the
CommonHealth program for Medicaid coverage to disabled adults seeking to work and to certain
disabled children, the Medical Security Plan provides coverage to workers who are collecting
unemployment compensation, the Healthy Start program provides coverage to lower income pregnant
women and new mothers, and the student health insurance mandate (McDonough et al., 2006). The
years 1996 to 1997 brought about another wave of health care reform for Massachusetts. The
expansions in 1996 and 1997 resulted in an increase in the number of people enrolled in MassHealth
(Massachusetts Medicaid program). As well, one of the key elements of Massachusetts s safety net is

Adversarial vs. Inquisitorial Justice Systems
The objective of an adversarial system and an inquisitorial system is similar, but the path to justice is
very different. The terms adversarial and inquisitorial are used to describe types of justice systems in
which represent common law and civil law respectively. The adversarial system is a legal system
where two parties positions are represented before an unbiased judge or a jury who attempt to
determine the truth behind the case. In an inquisitorial system, a judge contributes to the preparation
of evidence along with how the different parties are to present their case at the trial. The judge plays
the role of finding the truth and all the evidence that either proves the innocence or guilt of the
accused. The adversarial system is clearly the more impartial and accurate way to determine the truth
within a case.
The adversarial system has many great aspects which makes it the desirable system. In an adversarial
system, the police and defence are responsible for gathering evidence, and an evaluation of that
evidence is done by an unbiased judge. Judges play a role like a referee at a sporting event and the
prosecutor and defence counsel are the athletes. They watch the game and blow the whistle when they
see unfair gameplay. Canada and the United States have an adversarial justice system. This depicts
how first world countries use an adversarial system over an inquisitorial system because they
recognize that it is superior in that it is a fairer justice system. In an

Analysis Of Polymeric Counter Electrode
Abstract In this communications, PEDOT: PPS electrode is employed as a counter electrode in a dye
sensitized solar cell for low cost photosensor applications. TiO2 nanomaterial is used as photoanode.
The structure of the PEDOT: PPS film was investigated by atomic force microscope. This DSSC
behaves like Schottky diode at the dark condition. The photovoltaic behavior was studied in the light
intensity range 5 130 mW/cm 2. This cell has a stable fill factor of about 0.5 for all the studied
illumination intensity range. The linear photo response of the current suggests that new designed
DSSC with the polymeric counter electrode is a promising device for the low cost photosensor. The
cell shows capacitance inversion from positive to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also, it has hole transporting characteristics and shows good conductivities of up to 1000 S/cm
[10,11]. Emanuela Tamburri et al. [12] could determine the best experimental conditions to enhance
the redox performance of PEDOT: PSS films as the counter electrode in the DSSC. Sung Yeon Heo et
al. [13] demonstrated that 3D PEDOT: PSS films could be an as efficient Pt free catalyst in DSSC.
Capacitance voltage (C V) characterization is a non destructive technique which determines the charge
distribution and identifies the presence of interface states in semiconductors when the applied biasing
voltage participates in the carrier capture and emission at interface traps [14,15]. Such traps are
charged leading to the production of a dipole layer at the interface. Small modulation in the AC bias
will change the barrier height, and the position of the Fermi level will shift relative to its equilibrium
position. Thus, the characteristics of the device will be changed [15,16]. In our study, a nanocrystalline
PEDOT: PSS polymeric counter electrode was used instead of the Pt counter electrode to reduce the
cost of the DSSC. We present a detailed study of the photovoltaic response as current voltage (I V)
and C V characterization of the DSSC based on PEDOT: PSS. The conduction mechanism and the
negative capacitance of the studied cell are analyzed in

Helicopter Parenting Research Paper
Protective parents have been around forever, but has it reached its extremity? Helicopter parenting is
the newest trend in today s society, it is a way of raising children in a very stern, controlled, and
structured manner. Helicopter parents control their children s lives with strict rules and often complete
tasks for the children that are unnecessary all to protect their children. This child raising strategy most
often incorporates an element of babying , such as making their teenager s lunch for them every day,
doing their child s homework and projects for them, and not letting their child go anywhere alone even
when they are in well into their teen years. The effects of helicopter parenting have an enormous

Children who have helicopter parents never learn to be accountable for their actions because their
parents constantly did everything for them. They have a fear of failure, a lack of confidence, and co
dependency issues (Blau). The children also, as a result of being sheltered by their parents, have
decreased confidence and self esteem, undeveloped coping skills, increased anxiety, a sense of
entitlement, and undeveloped life skills. These children are just not capable of doing things for
themselves and this leads to many issues later in life. However, helicopter parenting is not always a
horrible thing. Studies have shown that physical abuse has dropped astonishingly, from 1992 to 2011
the rates dropped by 55%. The same thing happened to counts of sexual abuse, it fell by 64% through
the same year range. The number of abductions by strangers fell by 51% from 1997 to 2012, and
motor vehicle deaths of children under 13 years of age fell 43% in the last decade (Baer). This study
equates the drops to the rise of helicopter parents. Although counts of physical harm have dropped, an
in depth study was done by Florida State University that surveyed around 460 college students about
their life satisfaction levels. Those who had been raised by parents who gave them a larger sense of
autonomy reported higher levels of satisfaction in life and those who reported having helicopter
parents reported low levels of self efficacy, and higher levels of anxiety and depression ( Helicopter
Parents ). So, even though accidents and physical harm to children have been reduced, the
psychological harm is quite prominent and will follow the child throughout their

political process. In 2010, the Supreme Court struck down the McCain Feingold Act as
unconstitutional. The landmark Citizens United v Federal Elections Commission decision ruled that
political spending is a form of free speech and corporations have license to contribute exorbitant
amounts to politicians. Citizens United ensures denies the voices of citizens as representatives are
beholden to outside interests rather than their constituency. I, Justice John B. Gibson, hold that the
power of judicial review is too widely interpreted and, to keep government officials accountable, must
be vested in the masses to rediscover some twinge of our once budding representative democracy. The
Supreme Court often oversteps its perceived legal sovereignty when using judicial review. Article III
of the Constitution solely vests the courts the judicial power of the United States never mentioning the
power of judicial review. The judiciary s duty, according to the law of the land, is to interpret the laws,
not scan the authority of the lawgiver (Gibson, J.). The judiciary has not followed a strict
interpretation of the constitution; rather, it has encroached on the power of the legislative branch and
the sanctity of the separation of powers. If the Constitution were to come into collision with an act of
the legislature (Gibson, J.), the Constitution would take precedent, but it is

the background of the sailors. The more you read into the book the more problems that arise. In one
chapter they got low on food and their spirits were down but the next they found food and were happy
and singing. When shackleton was the captain of that ship he pushed his crew as hard as he could to
keep them moving and happy. The main problem in the book was when the ship got stuck in ice. This

The close up on Frankenstein as he speaks his final words focuses all our attention on him. We
suddenly have a feeling of anger towards the monster as he has just tortured a suffering man to death.
The situation here is that creator has been destroyed by his creation. The film then tries to make us feel
sorry for the monster. This is shown during the scene in which Captain Walton comes down into his
cabin shortly after Frankenstein s death after hearing a groan from below deck and finds the creature
weeping over the corpse of the recently deceased scientist. Walton asks the creature what he is and he
answers with he was my father. This reply starts to build up our sympathy for the monster as he has
just lost his father . This scene tries to increase the sympathy successfully when the creature also says
he never gave me a name. This adds to the sympathy by making us feel guilty that this creature
towards whom we first felt anger doesn t even have a name. At this point the scene changes to the
funeral of Frankenstein and we can see that the creature stands away from captain Walton and his
men. This emphasises his loneliness and difference to mankind. This depiction of the monster s
loneliness is given greater depth when he says, I am done with man in his reply to Walton s request for
him to come with

Cohn is a notorious American writer but he still shows his insecurity. One of the reasons for his
insecurity is that Cohn is one of the few men in the story who is revealed to not be a veteran of the
war. Cohn also experienced a lot of racial discrimination as a Jew when he went to Princeton
(Hemingway, 12). To compensate for his self consciousness, he became the middleweight boxing
champion of Princeton (Hemingway, 11). Despite his athletic achievements, Cohn is still portrayed as
feminine. His first wife left him before he could leave her and the next woman he had a relationship
with was very forceful and she treated Cohn as a careless possession (Hemingway, 13). The woman,
whose name is Frances, took advantage of Cohn s insecurities and she used them to dominate, not

The Pros And Cons Of Brown V Board Of Education
The Brown V Board of Education case overturned provisions of the Plessy v Ferguson decision of
1896 which allowed separate but equal in all public areas including public schools. This case began a
spark in the American Civil Rights Movement by demanding public facilities to allow African
Americans the same privileges as whites. This case ended tolerance of racial segregation, however, the
decision did not succeed in fully desegregating public education, but it definitely started a revolution.
In addition to separate but equal, most facilities ignored the requirement, including most school
districts which neglected their all black schools. In the early 1950s, NAACP lawyers brought class
action lawsuits on behalf of black school students in multiple states including Virginia, Delaware,
Kansas and South Carolina, seeking court orders to demand school districts to let black students attend
white public schools. One of these class actions, Brown V Board of Education was filed against the
Topeka Kansas school board by a man by the name of Oliver Brown, a parent of one of the students
that was denied access to Topeka s white schools. Oliver Brown claimed that Topeka s racial
segregation violated the constitution s Equal Protection Clause which says no state shall make or
enforce any law which shall deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws
, this amendment did not include prohibiting integration. The federal district court dismissed his claim
and ruled that segregation in public schools were substantially equal enough . The court negotiated
and in the end decided that even if the facilities were equal between white and black schools, racial
segregation in schools is inherently unequal , meaning it had been unconstitutional. The court later
demanded the states to integrate their schools immediately. Brown v. Board of Education case had a
major impact on not only the Civil Rights Movement but society as a whole. As we all know,
segregation between black and whites has gone on forever. Generations continued to teach their
children and explain to them that it was normal, up until these landmark cases began did it become
known that it isn t right to treat others differently based on

It seemed as if Harold never got past Erikson s stage of autonomy. The sense of autonomy fostered in
Harold at a young age was denied to him by his mother as she controlled him. In contrast, Maude
played a better role model to him than his mother. She acted wild and crazy and continually
demonstrated freedom. A freedom that his mother never gave Harold the opportunity to indulge in.
She philosophizes continuously about living life to utmost extremes, about rebellion, individualism
and spontaneity. Maude tells Harold that the world dearly loves a cage and that humans should be as
free as a bird. Maude gave the troubled young man a sense of hope and life throughout as he was a
team player not willing to come off the bench to play. She introduced him to Glaucus who served as a
message to Harold, one that he learns towards the end of the movie. Glaucus days are a metaphor for
the life span of a man. He is given a chance to create beauty out of nothing, but is time is limited with
which to do so as he works with a medium that is hard to maintain. It was the carving of the ice that
was important, not the ice itself. Harold s success in life was not being pursued, it was to be attracted
to the person he became through her help. Nevertheless, she constantly instills in Harold that we are
given the gift of life and it is ours to enjoy and it is through her philosophies that Harold becomes a
better man in the end and making

subject of the education system in the United States. Throughout this essay, it rejects the idea of

also presents the issue of the perceptions of students in the system by legislatures.
Diane Ravitch is an educational historian and policy analyst, who believes that standardized education

The author has many weaknesses and strengths. As said before, the author lacks the differing of other

Math Knot Theory and Celtic Knots
l Ve always had an interest in Celtic culture. I love the traditional clothing and dancing, but my
favorite part has always been the symbolism and beauty of Celtic Knots. I wondered where the knots
originated and how they were created so symmetrically, which led me to the mathematical study of
knot theory. So my question now is, How has the knot theory in mathematics influenced and shaped
the tradition of Celtic Knots? Knots in the real world are easy to define and see, such as tying a
shoelace or a rope, but knots in the mathematical world are a bit different. These knots are joined at
the end, making them one continuous line, unable to be pulled apart or untied. They can be described
in mathematical terms as a circle that has been embedded in 3 D dimensional Euclidean space but in a
bit simpler language, a knot is created by putting a flat circle into 3 D space; therefore making it 3 D.
You can not just pull the circle up; that would create a cylinder, and you can not just round it out; this
would create a sphere. You must twist it until it intertwines, thus creating a knot. Knots can be
described in many different ways. For example; a common method of describing a knot is called a
knot diagram, which can be used to describe the many ways a knot can be drawn. A fundamental
problem is presented here though, due to the fact that you must determine when a knot is represented
by more than one description. A full algorithmic solution does exist to help solve the problem, but

Looking into the sentencing of this Brutus helps to draw even more parallels to real life instances that
the TRC came across. The sentence that was delivered upon the First Brutus was two hundred and
twelve years imprisonment, due to the fact that this First Brutus was the source that performed these
acts, and the victims had identified him. The two hundred and twelve year sentence is not an arbitrary
number, but was shaped after the sentence that was handed down to Eugene De Kock. De Kock was
the commander of Section C1 of the South African police, a secret force that was responsible for
multiple bombings and murders during the height of apartheid (Gellhorn, Murrow, Mitford, Hersh,
and Schlosser 190). De Kock was a ruthless man who was associated with first hand kidnapping,
torture, and murder of known opponents of the government, just like the foot soldier role that the first
head of Brutus represents. By assigning a life like sentence to this head of Brutus Jane Taylor
highlights the reality of the court system at the end of apartheid, and helps to bring about a sense of
justice served upon the first head of Brutus. The second head of Brutus was described as being a high

As language develops over the years languages some suffer the times and become a thing of the past.
There are approximately six thousand spoken languages that are facing extinction (Kravitz). I question
the importance of preserving ancient languages especially because I grew up in a family who speak

The simple answer is yes, a particular quote that grabs your attention is from an article by Guy
Gugliotta he states Language is not one thing. It has cultural and community context . If one has
experienced any sort of move or connection with one s heritage you will understand the importance of
remembering. I had the incredible opportunity to speaking with my great grandmother Ivy Mest (who
will be turning one hundred this year) she simply said that Pennsylvania Dutch was the only
connection she had left to Germany after her great grandparents passed away. Preservation of dying

When Better Business Bureau states that people should Never give personal information to someone
who has contacted you unsolicited, whether by phone, email, social media or in person (Better
Business Bureau Warns). we realise that when the King took place as the identity of a long lost family
member, he was only given that information because there was a man that he met on the roads and he
told the king of this family and their situation. The King was someone who was contacted by the king
unsolicited, and this man gave away vital personal information. Also, when the King and The Duke

The Dark Ages Of The Middle Ages
The Renaissance was the period in European history that referred how people were finally learning
about the Classical antiquity. It also marked the translation from the Middle Ages to the Modern
world. The length of the period lasted from 14th century to the 17th century, but it forever changed the
Western World.
People during the Renaissance viewed the other periods throughout history differently.
Everyone was worshipping the Classical antiquity since the people were free to think and question
while the Middle Ages caused people to go into silence for fears of punishment. They were most
disgusted with the Middle Ages because of how much it wasn t the Classical antiquity. The Dark Ages,
a nickname for the Middle Ages made by the Renaissance, were often described the backwards
civilization that had formed after the Western Roman Empire collapsed. However, Classical antiquity
appealed every Renaissance man and woman because their artworks and ruins were found all over
Europe and it caused people to be curious about it. Once they learn of the Romans and the Greeks, it
led to people coming up with their own ideas while challenging the Catholic Church s ideas. Once the
Renaissance began and spread across Europe, major discoveries would forever change world history.
There were several discoveries going on during the Renaissance that forever changed the world. One
of those most important discoveries was the exploration of the New World. Christopher Columbus, the
famous explorer,

Microsoft Acquires Nokia
INTRODUCTION
Microsoft is to acquire Nokia s mobile phone arm in a swansong deal for the software giant s long
serving chief executive, Steve Ballmer, delivering Europe s last big handset maker into American
ownership.
For €5.44bn (£4.6bn), Nokia is casting off the business that once represented Finland s most important
export, in a deal that will result in 32,000 staff transferring to Microsoft.
Overtaken in the smartphone arena by Apple and Samsung, Nokia s board agreed to end the company
s decades long role as a pioneer and once dominant player in one of the most revolutionary
technologies in modern history.
The acquisition marks the boldest step yet taken by Microsoft in its recently announced strategy of
moving decisively ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Apple s iPhone and handsets running Google s Android together make up over 95% of sales in the US
and China, the world s two largest smartphone markets, according to Kantar World panel s latest
figures. Windows Phone only has shares above 10% in Mexico and France, according to the company
s figures.
According to the article, Under the deal, Microsoft is buying the Lumia and Asha brand names that
Nokia has used for its smart and intermediate phones. It has licensed the use of the Nokia brand on
handsets for 10 years, but the Finnish business will retain ownership of the brand. That will probably
mean that the Nokia brand disappearing from handsets in the next decade, ending over 30 years
history in the business.
Having started in 1865 with a pulp mill in the Finnish town of Tampere, Nokia reinvented itself
repeatedly, shifting to rubber boot production early in the 20th century, and then making its first
telephone exchange in the 1970s. Its first mobile phone appeared in 1981.
Rumours that Microsoft intended to buy Nokia had been floated since Elop joined the company.
Reaction to the deal was mixed.
Microsoft buying Nokia looks like doubling down on the current failing strategy, without changing the
dynamics that are preventing success, cautioned Benedict Evans at Enders Analysis.
Ben Wood at CCS Insight described the deal as a bold, but entirely necessary gamble by Microsoft .

Discussion of Whether Gattaca Portrays A Realistic View Of The Future And Gene Manipulation
Media. It controls a lot of what we think, what we believe and so changes our attitude and behaviour
towards certain things. It has changed our thinking so much so that we believe almost anything and
everything the media say and do. Without the media, life would not be as it is. Newspapers,
magazines, television, internet, radio, the lot have very much altered our thinking.
Lately, there have been many talks on the issues regarding genetic manipulation and human cloning.
Parents who once disagreed with the idea of cloning are now beginning to reconsider, as to whether or
not genetic manipulation should ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the late 90 s, when Gattaca was released, talks on gene manipulation were very serious. It was
also around the time when the clone of Dolly the sheep was revealed to the public. In my opinion,
Andrew Niccol had purposely released the film at that particular time to make realise the
consequences of gene manipulation, to make parents most of all, realise what could happen. I think
that at the end of the film, when Jerome commits suicide and Vincent is going up into space, is a very
effective part in portraying the consequences of having a genetically modified child. A person who
thought he was perfect in all ways possible, who people thought to be perfect; his life ended the day
he got a silver medal instead of gold in a swimming competition. He tried to commit suicide, but
became handicapped instead. However, he did become successful in killing himself at the end. I think
Andrew Niccol wanted to depict how fatal the consequences could be, because people were only
seeing one side of the story more like only being shown one side the better side of the story; these
people being parents. He wanted people, in particular parents to become aware of the problems arising
with having gene manipulated children.
Niccol wanted parents to think about their children. Whether they wanted a God Child who was not
perfect, but could still lead a normal

Krzysztof Sujata s Valiska Essay
Calgary musician Krzysztof Sujata s Valiska project makes music that toes the line between ambient
and drone often relying on peaceful soundscapes dotted with piano to set a framework, then
occasionally building to a towering crescendo with a web of static. It s all very naturally motivated,
though fittingly for its album art, Repetitions is sparsely organic, with plenty of room to breathe chilly
and cozy breaths. It s a record that challenges you to take much from very little over 40 minutes, there
is rarely any rhythmic movement. It s true ambient music, and while it sometimes falls into uninspired
territory, Repetitions is still quite an interesting, minimalistic world to explore.
Clearing , the album s seven minute opener, sets the tone here to looped woodwinds and pianos, it
spins a thoughtful and experimental kind of patchwork of melodies. The song s second half works
through this same strange melody with reversed pianos, an unofficial musical motif for the record.
These pianos are often the album s greatest flaw; pretty, yes, but often quite dull, especially ... Show

Glide crescendos brilliantly out of a pensive piano line; the onslaught of clarinets, oboes, and bassoons
is nicely supplemented with a steely, shimmering synth effect at the end. Dawn , the album s lead
single, does something similar, if more elevated: here, a quavering field of piano and flutes suddenly
erupts into a hazy throbbing bass, then cools down with an organ sound on the periphery, which
reminds me to some extent of Hans Zimmer s score for Interstellar. It s an excellent piece, maybe the
best on the record; another standout is Held , whose heavenly and mysterious flute line floats far
above the raging far away storm of sound below it. It sounds like music for a cold, alien planet; this is

  • 2. Personal Finance Management And Investment Recommendations Personal Finance Management Investment Recommendations The definition of personal finance is often defined as being the application of financial principles within an individual or family unit. Such application includes: budgeting, saving, spending, and assessing risks. Evidently, such financial management is of great importance. Therefore, in this paper, I will provide an overview of an individual s personal finances by referencing their investment style and briefly stating their financial objective. In addition, I will provide some recommendations said individual should consider with the purpose of aligning their investment choices with their overall financial goal. Let s us start off by discussing some facts that were provided by the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Now, let us calculate what his investment style will amount to if he were to continue making the same investment choices until retirement. To start off, we can see that Joe is not a risky investor; he has only invested in individual accounts, certificate of deposits, and his 401k. In addition, he saves an average of 10% of each paycheck (which we will assume to be $5,000 annually based on a $50,000 median household income). As noted earlier, his primary objective is to retire on annual income of $50,000. We can assume then that his goal is to save approximately $1,250,000 . Therefore, if Joe continues to invest $5,000 annually ($416.67 monthly) into his saving account for the next 25 years, his investment, assuming a current balance of $5,000 compounded daily at 0.01% (as currently being offered by WellsFargo), will amount to about $130,170 . Now, Joe has also invested in certificate of deposits (CDs). He reported as simply having been reinvesting his original $5,000 for the past six years. Assuming a stated 0.30% interest rate on a two year CD with daily compounding, his $5,000 investment is now worth about $5,091 . However, he seeks to reinvest this until retirement. Performing similar calculations, we obtain a grand total of $5,488 . This is what his CD would amount to if he were to reinvest for the next 25 years. Now, let us proceed to examining his 401k contributions. Joe contributes, on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. American Hip Hop 1. Similar to the hip hop scene in the United States and many other places around the globe, Japan has a very vibrant hip hop community. It is amazing to see how a genre that was created on the other side of the planet make its way to Japan, and how they have put their own spin on the genre. They remake and appropriate it in their recording studios, and in doing so they highlight the various aspects of Japanese culture in hip hop. The Japanese artists were devoted to the black culture that was evident in American hip hop, but the B Boys, as their referred to in Japan, found a way to fuse the samurai with the thug imagery and American rap. Authentic Japanese hip hop is defined by the underground artists, the ones who were more concerned with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While the genre in Japan is tailored to stay true to their roots by taking the traditional route, there still is music made predominantly for the club and for that the general public wants to hear. The party rap scene is depicted by a more playful approach, and is intended to accommodate the female listener first before anyone else. This is because there is not that much female rappers, as it is a male dominated industry. Even though these rappers manipulate their language to make the rhymes work, we still find it difficult for females to create a niche in the industry. The majority of the lyrics are about sex, drugs and money as well as the Japanese education system as well as the different wars occurring across the globe. We see that many young Japanese women are emulating American Hip Hop culture out of appreciation for its ideals. In no way at all are they mocking the culture, but I would not believe for an instant that Japanese people know what it means to be black due to the great culture gap between Japan and America. A lot of the women wear the clothes that say, Black is Beautiful but are unable to even explain what the statement means. Not only women but also everyone is attracted to the genre due to artists expressing themselves through their appearance, as hip hop culture is about style. The club hip hop scene definitely is embodied by appearance and this is a form of rap that is specifically catered to the American female ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These creatures are not dangerous to humans, they are just animals who hunt other animals. This has become established knowledge, since it has been a never ending goal to bring the wolves back and help them flourish as they did in the early nineteenth century (Coleman, 2004). I do think that instead of exterminating the wolf in Durham, we should find it, if it exists, and add a tracking device. It would be a huge stepping stone in the study of this animal. This could enhance our knowledge on the species and may even help us form an idea on how to successfully repopulate the states with the species. Instead of the dark and biased article against the big bad wolf, this piece should take its place. The negative feelings addressed in the article need to be replaced with positive feelings because this would be a huge accomplishment for us if it was in fact a wolf that was sited. It would mean all of our past acts, research, and hard work is finally starting to pay off. Wolves would finally start coming back to the areas where they never should have disappeared ... • 7. The Fulfillment Of The Abrahamic Covenant The Pentatuach offers the reader hope in the fulfillment of the Abrahamic Covenant because It all began in the covenant with Abraham, God promised many things to him. God promised numerous descendants, land, and a relationship with him. God s first blessing would provide Abraham with numerous descendants, which in turn would become a great nation. His second blessing would provide him and his family with a place to call home. His third blessing states that Abraham will have a relationship with God. This means that, anyone who blesses Abraham will be blessed by God, anyone that curses him will be cursed. In return for all of these promises, Abraham and all of his male members and descendants were circumcised to let God know that they belong to him. We can believe that the Abrahamic covenant would be fulfilled when, God called Abraham to leave his country, relatives, and family to go to the land that he was going to be given. God said, I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you and make you famous, and you will be a blessing to others. The land that the Lord took Abraham too, was the land that would be given to him and his descendants. After Abraham was gone, his descendants would be in possession of the land. Abraham had a vision, where God promised to protect him. Abraham had a hard time believing that him and his wife would ever have children. Within the male dominated comic art world, Deborah Whaley s Black Women in Sequence: Re inking Comics, Graphics Novels, and Anime offer a countervision on the Black body. Women, especially Black women may welcome this book as a confirmation about recognizing, representing, and reframing their story. For this audience, Whaley will explore the historical, racial, and sexual representation of Black women in sequential art pointing out the imagined Black body through interracial relationships, African fetishism, cultural politics, financial gains and transnationality. Whaley deconstructs the comic art world from 1930 to the present by questioning writers , illustrators , and readers engagement of the mutual fabrication of the black female body and the (mis)representation of black women in sequential art. She challenges how Blackness is produced and the absence concerning Black female characters in mainstream comics, comic book writers have used illustrations of and ideologies about the Black female body to signify the fetish, fear, and fabrication of Africa (p. 96). Further, she debunks the White male inventions of Blackness and constructs an argument why sequential art is a feasible form of understanding the visual narrative that reflects popular literature, identity politics, history, and cultural production from women of African descent. • 10. Upper House Case Study It is very evident that Queensland does not have to reinstate an upper house to be an effect government. This is due to that the original upper house was unable to do its job effectively of reviewing and negotiating laws and bills. Especially amending money bills that the lower house passed, due to that its members came from elitist group of wealth and education (Queensland Parliament, 2010). This elitist upper house resulted in a lacked of diversity, therefore laws that where made for working class Queenslanders, were rarely passed. Another large benefit of not having an upper house is that the lower house can debate and process new bills effectively, due to not having an upper house which can delay bills by up to 6 months. This cuts out the process of being of going through another house, therefore responding to society as quickly as it changes (Inside Story, 205). Also the reintroduction of the upper house would also be a costly burden on society, with the government having to potentially cut representatives in the lower house to compensate for the new senators (Inside Story, 2015). This cut to the lower house means that there would be less representatives and more people they are having to represent, therefore missing out on key minority groups opinions and beliefs in society. Therefore it is very clear that Queensland has no need for an upper house, and that the state functions adequately without the overruling power. References Inside Story. 2015. • 11. William Blake s The Lamb And The Tyger In 18th Century Britain, the poets of what became known as the Romantic Period sought to communicate truth in a world where the lofty ideals of The Enlightenment were evaporating to reveal the harsh realities of a society that favored material progress over spiritual progress. In so doing, these poets embraced and drew inspiration from the beauties and mysteries of nature in attempts to draw parallels between the truths they found there and the inner experience of Mankind. Counted among the several writers who recorded their artistic and emotional responses to the natural world, William Blake explores the concept of life s dualities and how this concept applied to life in 18th Century Britain, as well as to the relationship between the body and spirit, in his most popular works, Songs of Innocence and of Experience: Showing the Two Contrary States of the Human Soul (1794). Two standout poems, The Lamb and The Tyger, respectively taken from Songs of Innocence and Songs of Experience, demonstrate Blake s meditation on how innocence and experience in life create a binary and complementary relationship that is observable in our outer world as well as in our inner being. As one of the titles in his Songs of Innocence, William Blake chooses the lamb, naturally gentle and docile, as a representative of the concept of innocence. In Blake s poem, a child shepherd addresses the lamb, identifying early its clothing of delight, and its tender voice/Making all the vales rejoice ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Similarities Between An Occurrence At Owl Creek Bridge... The Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge, by Ambrose Bierce tells the story of a man being punished for a crime. While he is dying, he vividly imagines his escape, the one thing that urges him on is the thought of his family. White Heron, by Sarah Orne Jewett follows a girl named Sylvia who lives in a small country home with her grandmother. She has a simple life: walking with her cow and hanging out with the forest creatures. However, when a young hunter arrives on the scene with a very alluring offer, Sylvia is faced with a tough decision. The setting of the short story, An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge , is in northern Alabama during the Civil War. The short story, A White Heron , takes place in New England during the summer on a farm. Throughout the short stories both Jewett and Bierce, describe the similar scenes a pond, a forest, and a faint sunlight. One similarity between the short stories is both take place by some sort of water. Peyton was near a stream when he was shot and decided to tried another method of escaping. The humming of the gnats that danced above the eddies of the stream, the beating of the dragon flies wings, the strokes of the water spiders legs, like oars which had lifted their boat all these made audible music. A fish slid along beneath his eyes, and he heard the rush of its body parting the water (Bierce 1505). This quote describes a stream that was nearby Peyton. It describes a stream of water and the organisms that are surrounding the stream. Sylvia theory was that if a person climbed the tallest tree in the forest they would see the ocean. While on the hunt for the White Heron s nesting spot, she climbed the tallest tree. Sylvia s faced was like a pale star, if one had seen it from the ground, when the last thorny bough was past, and she stood trembling and tires but wholly triumphant, high in the tree top. Yes, there was the sea with the dawning sun making a golden dazzle over it, and toward that glorious east flew two hawks with slow moving pinions (Jewett 1602). This quote shows that Sylvia s view is coming from the treetop; and she sees the sea and two hawks. • 16. The Massachusetts Of Massachusetts The Massachusetts Experiment Massachusetts has undergone many changes in their health care system since enacting a universal health care law in 1988. The effects of the Massachusetts health care laws are a good indicator of what people should expect from the enactment of the ACA. The multiple health care reforms in Massachusetts were in an attempt to increase health care coverage while still maintaining financial stability. Background Massachusetts began its health care reform in 1988. Under the direction of Governor Michael Dukakis (D), a universal health care law was enacted through implementation of a play or pay employer mandate; unfortunately this implementation suffered multiple postponements (McDonough, Rosman, Phelps, Shannon, 2006). Some components of the 1988 law were implemented and stand today: the CommonHealth program for Medicaid coverage to disabled adults seeking to work and to certain disabled children, the Medical Security Plan provides coverage to workers who are collecting unemployment compensation, the Healthy Start program provides coverage to lower income pregnant women and new mothers, and the student health insurance mandate (McDonough et al., 2006). The years 1996 to 1997 brought about another wave of health care reform for Massachusetts. The expansions in 1996 and 1997 resulted in an increase in the number of people enrolled in MassHealth (Massachusetts Medicaid program). • 17. Adversarial vs. Inquisitorial Justice Systems The objective of an adversarial system and an inquisitorial system is similar, but the path to justice is very different. The terms adversarial and inquisitorial are used to describe types of justice systems in which represent common law and civil law respectively. The adversarial system is a legal system where two parties positions are represented before an unbiased judge or a jury who attempt to determine the truth behind the case. In an inquisitorial system, a judge contributes to the preparation of evidence along with how the different parties are to present their case at the trial. The judge plays the role of finding the truth and all the evidence that either proves the innocence or guilt of the accused. The adversarial system is clearly the more impartial and accurate way to determine the truth within a case. The adversarial system has many great aspects which makes it the desirable system. In an adversarial system, the police and defence are responsible for gathering evidence, and an evaluation of that evidence is done by an unbiased judge. Judges play a role like a referee at a sporting event and the prosecutor and defence counsel are the athletes. They watch the game and blow the whistle when they see unfair gameplay. Canada and the United States have an adversarial justice system. This depicts how first world countries use an adversarial system over an inquisitorial system because they recognize that it is superior in that it is a fairer justice system. In an ... • 18. Analysis Of Polymeric Counter Electrode Abstract In this communications, PEDOT: PPS electrode is employed as a counter electrode in a dye sensitized solar cell for low cost photosensor applications. TiO2 nanomaterial is used as photoanode. The structure of the PEDOT: PPS film was investigated by atomic force microscope. This DSSC behaves like Schottky diode at the dark condition. The photovoltaic behavior was studied in the light intensity range 5 130 mW/cm 2. This cell has a stable fill factor of about 0.5 for all the studied illumination intensity range. The linear photo response of the current suggests that new designed DSSC with the polymeric counter electrode is a promising device for the low cost photosensor. The cell shows capacitance inversion from positive to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also, it has hole transporting characteristics and shows good conductivities of up to 1000 S/cm [10,11]. Emanuela Tamburri et al. [12] could determine the best experimental conditions to enhance the redox performance of PEDOT: PSS films as the counter electrode in the DSSC. Sung Yeon Heo et al. [13] demonstrated that 3D PEDOT: PSS films could be an as efficient Pt free catalyst in DSSC. Capacitance voltage (C V) characterization is a non destructive technique which determines the charge distribution and identifies the presence of interface states in semiconductors when the applied biasing voltage participates in the carrier capture and emission at interface traps [14,15]. Such traps are charged leading to the production of a dipole layer at the interface. Small modulation in the AC bias will change the barrier height, and the position of the Fermi level will shift relative to its equilibrium position. Thus, the characteristics of the device will be changed [15,16]. In our study, a nanocrystalline PEDOT: PSS polymeric counter electrode was used instead of the Pt counter electrode to reduce the cost of the DSSC. We present a detailed study of the photovoltaic response as current voltage (I V) and C V characterization of the DSSC based on PEDOT: PSS. Helicopter parenting is the newest trend in today s society, it is a way of raising children in a very stern, controlled, and structured manner. Helicopter parents control their children s lives with strict rules and often complete tasks for the children that are unnecessary all to protect their children. This child raising strategy most often incorporates an element of babying , such as making their teenager s lunch for them every day, doing their child s homework and projects for them, and not letting their child go anywhere alone even when they are in well into their teen years. Children who have helicopter parents never learn to be accountable for their actions because their parents constantly did everything for them. They have a fear of failure, a lack of confidence, and co dependency issues (Blau). The children also, as a result of being sheltered by their parents, have decreased confidence and self esteem, undeveloped coping skills, increased anxiety, a sense of entitlement, and undeveloped life skills. These children are just not capable of doing things for themselves and this leads to many issues later in life. However, helicopter parenting is not always a horrible thing. Studies have shown that physical abuse has dropped astonishingly, from 1992 to 2011 the rates dropped by 55%. The same thing happened to counts of sexual abuse, it fell by 64% through the same year range. The number of abductions by strangers fell by 51% from 1997 to 2012, and motor vehicle deaths of children under 13 years of age fell 43% in the last decade (Baer). This study equates the drops to the rise of helicopter parents. Although counts of physical harm have dropped, an in depth study was done by Florida State University that surveyed around 460 college students about their life satisfaction levels. Those who had been raised by parents who gave them a larger sense of autonomy reported higher levels of satisfaction in life and those who reported having helicopter parents reported low levels of self efficacy, and higher levels of anxiety and depression ( Helicopter Parents ). • 21. The Supreme Court Struck Down The Mccain Feingold Act The demons of a misinterpreted judicial review have corrupted the legislature, the courts, and our political process. In 2010, the Supreme Court struck down the McCain Feingold Act as unconstitutional. The landmark Citizens United v Federal Elections Commission decision ruled that political spending is a form of free speech and corporations have license to contribute exorbitant amounts to politicians. Citizens United ensures denies the voices of citizens as representatives are beholden to outside interests rather than their constituency. I, Justice John B. Gibson, hold that the power of judicial review is too widely interpreted and, to keep government officials accountable, must be vested in the masses to rediscover some twinge of our once budding representative democracy. The Supreme Court often oversteps its perceived legal sovereignty when using judicial review. Article III of the Constitution solely vests the courts the judicial power of the United States never mentioning the power of judicial review. The judiciary s duty, according to the law of the land, is to interpret the laws, not scan the authority of the lawgiver (Gibson, J.). The judiciary has not followed a strict interpretation of the constitution; rather, it has encroached on the power of the legislative branch and the sanctity of the separation of powers. Walton asks the creature what he is and he answers with he was my father. This reply starts to build up our sympathy for the monster as he has just lost his father . This scene tries to increase the sympathy successfully when the creature also says he never gave me a name. This adds to the sympathy by making us feel guilty that this creature towards whom we first felt anger doesn t even have a name. At this point the scene changes to the funeral of Frankenstein and we can see that the creature stands away from captain Walton and his men. This emphasises his loneliness and difference to mankind. The Pros And Cons Of Brown V Board Of Education The Brown V Board of Education case overturned provisions of the Plessy v Ferguson decision of 1896 which allowed separate but equal in all public areas including public schools. This case began a spark in the American Civil Rights Movement by demanding public facilities to allow African Americans the same privileges as whites. This case ended tolerance of racial segregation, however, the decision did not succeed in fully desegregating public education, but it definitely started a revolution. In addition to separate but equal, most facilities ignored the requirement, including most school districts which neglected their all black schools. In the early 1950s, NAACP lawyers brought class action lawsuits on behalf of black school students in multiple states including Virginia, Delaware, Kansas and South Carolina, seeking court orders to demand school districts to let black students attend white public schools. One of these class actions, Brown V Board of Education was filed against the Topeka Kansas school board by a man by the name of Oliver Brown, a parent of one of the students that was denied access to Topeka s white schools. Oliver Brown claimed that Topeka s racial segregation violated the constitution s Equal Protection Clause which says no state shall make or enforce any law which shall deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws , this amendment did not include prohibiting integration. The federal district court dismissed his claim and ruled that segregation in public schools were substantially equal enough . The court negotiated and in the end decided that even if the facilities were equal between white and black schools, racial segregation in schools is inherently unequal , meaning it had been unconstitutional. The court later demanded the states to integrate their schools immediately. Brown v. Board of Education case had a major impact on not only the Civil Rights Movement but society as a whole. • 35. Math Knot Theory and Celtic Knots l Ve always had an interest in Celtic culture. I love the traditional clothing and dancing, but my favorite part has always been the symbolism and beauty of Celtic Knots. I wondered where the knots originated and how they were created so symmetrically, which led me to the mathematical study of knot theory. So my question now is, How has the knot theory in mathematics influenced and shaped the tradition of Celtic Knots? Knots in the real world are easy to define and see, such as tying a shoelace or a rope, but knots in the mathematical world are a bit different. These knots are joined at the end, making them one continuous line, unable to be pulled apart or untied. They can be described in mathematical terms as a circle that has been embedded in 3 D dimensional Euclidean space but in a bit simpler language, a knot is created by putting a flat circle into 3 D space; therefore making it 3 D. You can not just pull the circle up; that would create a cylinder, and you can not just round it out; this would create a sphere. You must twist it until it intertwines, thus creating a knot. Knots can be described in many different ways. For example; a common method of describing a knot is called a knot diagram, which can be used to describe the many ways a knot can be drawn. A fundamental problem is presented here though, due to the fact that you must determine when a knot is represented by more than one description. A full algorithmic solution does exist to help solve the problem, but ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Condemnation of Marcus Brutus We ll attack when we re told, And submit should he scold, For we re old Pa Ubu s dogs of war (Taylor 31) is the mantra and role of Brutus from Ubu and the Truth Commission by Jane Taylor. This play tells the complicated story of South African politics and highlights the failures of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) in its attempts to heal the wounds of South Africa and bring justice in the transition from Apartheid. In Act Five: Scene One we see the condemnation and trial of Brutus, the three headed dog and co conspirator of Pa Ubu, and through this can draw a direct parallel to the real life difficulties that were encountered by South Africa when trying the political players involved in Apartheid. The sentence that was delivered upon the First Brutus was two hundred and twelve years imprisonment, due to the fact that this First Brutus was the source that performed these acts, and the victims had identified him. The two hundred and twelve year sentence is not an arbitrary number, but was shaped after the sentence that was handed down to Eugene De Kock. De Kock was the commander of Section C1 of the South African police, a secret force that was responsible for multiple bombings and murders during the height of apartheid (Gellhorn, Murrow, Mitford, Hersh, and Schlosser 190). De Kock was a ruthless man who was associated with first hand kidnapping, torture, and murder of known opponents of the government, just like the foot soldier role that the first head of Brutus represents. By assigning a life like sentence to this head of Brutus Jane Taylor highlights the reality of the court system at the end of apartheid, and helps to bring about a sense of justice served upon the first head of Brutus. There are approximately six thousand spoken languages that are facing extinction (Kravitz). Pennsylvania Dutch, a dialect of German, is known as the wandering Dutchman language and is spoken exclusively in northeastern Pennsylvania by mostly Amish and Lutheran Reformists. I had the incredible opportunity to speaking with my great grandmother Ivy Mest (who will be turning one hundred this year) she simply said that Pennsylvania Dutch was the only connection she had left to Germany after her great grandparents passed away. Preservation of dying languages means preserving diversity, culture and a sense of community. Imagine how devastating it would be to lose Hispanic culture or an Asian culture. I think that at the end of the film, when Jerome commits suicide and Vincent is going up into space, is a very effective part in portraying the consequences of having a genetically modified child. It s a record that challenges you to take much from very little over 40 minutes, there is rarely any rhythmic movement. It s true ambient music, and while it sometimes falls into uninspired territory, Repetitions is still quite an interesting, minimalistic world to explore. Clearing , the album s seven minute opener, sets the tone here to looped woodwinds and pianos, it spins a thoughtful and experimental kind of patchwork of melodies.
