Outsourcing Service From A Supplier
Outsourcing is simply obtaining a product or a service from a supplier. Outsourcing services can
supplement an existing internal source, replace an existing internal source, or consist of a new product
or service a company has never provided before.
In the past, it was commonplace for companies to try to do it all. Manufacturing companies would
design, engineer, and build the end product while providing Information Technology support...
regardless of the complexity of the end product and its components. As time went on, it became
obvious that a company cannot do it all. It became more and more routine for organizations to
outsource complex portions of their work.
Smaller companies found it useful to outsource their payroll processing. This soon grew into the
recognition that if it is better to outsource payroll, why not consider outsourcing the entire HR
function? Industries began to grow to support vertical business services such as HR and accounting.
The companies that are chosen to provide the service also accept a part of the risk.
In today s world, the most effective method of doing business is for a company to focus on their core
competencies what they do best. The role of outsourcing is critical to a project s success. It can expand
the customer base and allow organizations to focus more on relationships. As outsourcing grows, it
becomes more and more important to balance advantages and disadvantages, understand the risks, and
act to mitigate those risks.

Control and Manipulation in A Rose for Emily and The...
In William Faulkner s A Rose for Emily and Charlotte Perkins Gilman s The Yellow Wallpaper, the
two main characters exhibit behavior that some readers may consider unusual or even totally crazy.
These two women are having a difficult time adjusting to the many changes taking place around them.
In the midst of these changes, they face the struggles of being women such as post partum depression
and love and rejection from men. Such problems become so overbearing that each woman ends up in
their own delusional world which in turn, leads to their isolation and insanity. Gender issues, love,
hate, insanity and isolation, are thematic connections in both stories and are important components of
how each woman functions throughout the story and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the woman gets out of bed to investigate the wallpaper in the room, her husband says, What is
it, little girl? Don t go walking about like that you ll get a cold (319). His choice of words of calling
her a little girl belittles the woman and amplifies her feelings of being isolated, not only physically,
but emotionally. Since her husband is away most of the time and leaves her in confinement, the
woman immerses herself into studying the wallpaper [following] the pattern about by the hour (317).
She follows all the twist and turns of the wallpaper, decoding each detail and discovers what she
seems to be a woman in a cage. She spends all her time looking at the paper that she eventually
becomes obsessed with figuring out the patterns. She begins to identify with the woman in the cage
which could signify her imprisonment in the room and her being tormented by her husband s lack of
sympathy for her condition and his dominance in their marriage. Just as male dominance is an issue
for the woman in Gilman s work, Faulkner s A Rose for Emily details how Emily s father and love
interest dictate her life. Unlike the woman in The Yellow Wallpaper being dominated by her own
husband, Emily Grierson was under her father s control since an early age. Her, father who was
described as a spraddled silhouette and clutching a horsewhip , would chase away any prospective
mates for his daughter (Faulkner, 288). Such dominance and solitude carried on until

The Lovesong Of J Alfred Prufrock Essay
The story of The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock by T.S. Eliot relates to the elements of modernism

The Feminist Analysis
For decades, women have been continuously fighting for equality with men and because of their
reluctance to never give up their fight, women have gained many more rights throughout the years.
The feminist ideology is incorporated in Pride and Prejudice through Elizabeth Bennett and her blatant
reluctance to marry a man any reason other than love. Feminism is still incredibly relevant in today s
society and is very important because to this day, men and women are not considered and treated as
equals. The feminist movement is such a great movement because it has so many pros to it. A pro of
the feminist movement is that it raises awareness to the unequal treatment of men and women. If the
feminist movement never started, there would hardly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Defense Against a Cyber Attack with Malicious Code...
The name Malicious Code (Malware) Prevention Plan uses a strategy of defense in depth using
operational, human, and technical controls for effectiveness. Used properly, the technical controls
available to the TVA organization (TVAO) is effective in stopping a majority of malicious code
threats. However, the trusted insider normally has the access needed to turn a threat into an operational
risk. As to external threats, the TVAO can expect a continued pattern of organized criminal
involvement and international espionage to continue to target the weakest link in the security chain:
the human. The defense in depth concept is constructed to rapidly characterize, attribute, and respond
to attacks and is given the name Defense of The Grid System or DTGS. The DTGS provides the
capability to monitor, detect, analyze, and respond to unauthorized activity, as well as unintentional,
non malicious user errors within the iSOC, Tops, and Gen, components of the DTGS. For the DTGS
system and its monitored component systems, must detect attacks and respond quickly (e.g. limiting
access, excising users, or even disconnecting from the network.) The DTGS Interface Control
Document (ICD) addresses five operational capabilities: DTGS defense from cyber attack,
maintaining service while under attack, recovering from cyber attack and reduce vulnerabilities,
monitoring Information Assistance (IA) of the DTGS. Defend the Grid from Cyber Attack This
capability provides an enterprise sensor grid

Physics and Fish Bioenergetics Essays
Welcome to the world of fish physics. Many of us understand basic fish behavior and can reach logical
conclusions about where the best place to throw a fishing line is. But when we don t think much
further than that we are missing out on some very interesting details of fish behavior. We can never
fully understand why we find some fish in one location and some fish in other locations until we
consider the concept of fish bioenergetics. Ultimately, fish behavior is a product of bioenergetics.
First, we will take a look at basic fish bioenergetics, understanding the underlying quantitative
principles. Then, we will look at some examples of how physical forces, thermodynamics, and light
characteristics are specifically related to fish ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Energy expended by the fish depends on the velocity (flow) of the water and the swimming capability
of the fish. The fish must exert a force in the upstream direction that is equal to the force of the water
trying to push it downstream. When the fish goes to retrieve a prey item laterally, it will have to swim
faster than the current. Getting a little bit more complex, we can consider Holling s disc equation
(Stephens and Krebs 1986) which can apply to any foraging animal. This equation s most simplified
derivation is R = λe s/ 1 + λh where R is the rate of intake, λ is the rate of encounter with other prey
items, e is the energy gain, s is the search cost, and h is the handling time. This equation assumes that
searching for prey and handling prey are mutually exclusive activities. It also assumes that the
encounter rate will have a positive linear relationship with the time spent searching for prey. For fish,
many aspects of the physical environment can effect all of these components. There are many physical
factors that effect fish bioenergetics, such as local hydrologic characteristics in a stream or river.
However, not all of the physical factors involved are especially obvious. We will look at three
examples here. Water velocity plays an extremly important role in fish bioenergetics. It effects
components that are detrimental to fish as

Obstacles Affecting Anadromous Fish Populations
Anadromous fishes reproduce in freshwater then their progeny migrate to the ocean where they grow
and mature then return to freshwater to reproduce. These fishes encounter numerous barriers during
their freshwater migration. Migration barriers (e.g. dams, water storage projects, irrigation diversions,
impassable culverts, etc.) are significant factors affecting most anadromous fish populations. The
primary effects of barriers on anadromous fishes are the reduction of their population abundance and
productivity through excessive mortality, and reduction in habitat quantity and quality (NMFS, 2008).
Towler et al. (2015) defines a fishway as hydraulic structures and devices that provide continuous
pathways for fish to move over or around otherwise impassable barriers. Many existing fishways were
designed for adult fish, and where present, adult salmonids. Designing fishways for a multiple species
is of growing interest in the United States, Canada, and other countries. However, rivers with greater
biodiversity require fish passage solutions that accommodate a wide range of fish sizes, swimming
abilities, and migration strategies (Bunt, et al., 2012).
Additionally, current fishway designs have been shown to possess attributes that hinder their ability to
attract ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This new hybrid design is intended to promote passage not only for adult anadromous salmonids but
also juvenile salmonids and non salmonid species. The end product of this analysis will be quantifying
the hydraulic performance characteristics in terms of velocity, turbulence, depth, flow type (plunging
or streaming), and energy dissipation over a range of passage flows, and determining where passage is
potentially possible for adult salmonids. This analysis will then be used to develop and calibrate
design models for full scale

Hierarchy In The Lion King
This image from the Lion King movie is an iconic image that includes all of the characters shown in
the movie. The image displays all the characters in such a way that allows the viewer to see them all
together in one place in which the background represents the setting of the movie. However, this
image can be analyzed, and this results in many of the details showing the idea of hierarchy. The
analyzation and representation of this idea takes a unique approach due to this movie being an
animated movie rather than a normal movie. Despite this unique take on the idea of hierarchy, the idea
is still easy to understand because of extra steps taken to ensure it is portrayed clearly. My image of
the Lion King shows the viewer that animals and hierarchy can be artificially represented.

According to Michela Balconi and Silvia Pagani Recent research found that . . . status hierarchy
requires that individuals express and recognize social status signals, such as visual cues or vocal calls,
which communicate rank and convey expectations about appropriate social behavior given a
hierarchical social context (Balconi Pagani). Hierarchy may be an idea that can be noticed by external
factors such as a person s looks, but this is not always the case. This is especially true in this Lion
King image, since the characters do not wear clothes being that they are wild animals. As a result, this
other way to show hierarchy is used. If a someone is higher up in the hierarchy, the result is usually
that they are happier than other who are not as high up as they are. This causes the person that is
higher up to feel happy, while the person who is not as high up does not feel happy, in fact, they may
feel angry or like they want to get revenge, as shown by one of the hyenas in the

Transcendentalism, By Ralph Waldo Emerson
Re striking the Balance
In a constantly updating world, eventually cultural diffusion causes changes to a society s views and
practices over a period of time. With many religious pressures in Europe and the constant switch
between Catholicism and Protestantism, a group called the Puritans moved to America to start life
anew. The Puritan lifestyle took hold of America s New England colonies and became a theocracy of
how people lived their lives. People lived by the Puritan interpretation of the New Testament with
harsh forms of punishment for the violation of even the most simple sins. Because of this restricting
lifestyle and new ideas like the Enlightenment which caused intellectual reforms, people started to
break away from the extreme Puritan philosophy. Another movement occurring in America called
Transcendentalism, on the other side of the spectrum of Puritanism, started with writer Ralph Waldo
Emerson, specifically with his essay Nature . Emerson depicts the prime example of the breaking
away from strict religion to Transcendentalism. In America, Emerson was a priest who had been
ridiculed and had traveled to Europe to find himself. After meeting up with writers of the
Romanticism movement, he fell in love with it and brought it back to America under the name of
Transcendentalism. Puritanism and Transcendentalism have opposing philosophies which include their
view on people, philosophy and God , and on nature through essays and texts by: William Bradford,

Social Responsibility And Shareholder Theory
In recent years, society insistently demands from corporations actively participate in his life. The main
idea is next, inasmuch as corporation is extracted from society a certain income, they therefore obliged
him to pay. What is a social responsibility of business today? What should do executives only satisfy
shareholders or they have also obligations to society?
One of the most famous studies about social responsibility and shareholder theory presents in the
article of economist Milton Friedman named The Social Responsibility of Business Is to Increase Its
Profits , which has been published in 1970n. In this article author, who has subsequently rewarded
with the Nobel Prize, was formulated main points of shareholders theory and denounced the whole
concept of socially responsible business. Friedman declared, There is one and only one social
responsibility of business to use its resources and engage in activities designed to increase its profits
so long as it stays within the rules of the game (214). He defenses his view using next arguments.
First, he pointed that the primary responsibility of managers is the fulfillment of desires owners of the
company, hence shareholders. The wishes of shareholders are reduced mainly to one thing, namely to
bring the company the highest possible income. In this case executive s responsibility is to conduct the
business in accordance with their [shareholders] desires, which generally will be to make as much
money as possible

A Life Of My Life
PEASANT
I cannot believe my life. Every day, I wake up, with not much sleep, knowing of the tiring labour that
is to come. Stitching, weaving, mending, spinning, harvesting and nursing. It s no wonder waking up
at 3 am isn t a problem for me. My husband practically has it the same. He must go out to the lord s
farm, tending to the crops and plants. We both hate the summer season. Since he has to work, from
dusk to dawn, his work hours will be longer. And now we ll have to work harder since there is a lot of
harvest in summer.
We peasants are the hardest working out of all the groups in the feudal system; though, occasionally
the lords hold a feast in celebration of a special event. At these times, we wouldn t have to work, but
go to the Lord s castle and enjoy the feast. These were our grand tidbits in our life.
Sometimes though, we peasants get punished. Bad. My friend, Alys, didn t agree with the idea that
you were just born into either a life of luxury, or a life of labour. He stole from one of our lords, the
knight Amicia Godfrey. Alys earned himself a missing right hand, with the help of the blade of justice
. It was a wrong thing to do, but cutting of their right hand? That s just over the top. It should be that
he just gives back the money and does extra labour or something. If it s continuous, I agree that more
serious punishments need to be dished out, but this was Alys first time.
Then there s Sybilla. She cheated on her husband, and got what she deserved: a

The Foreclosure Crisis Essay
The foreclosure crisis in America has impacted everyone even those who don t own homes. Our nation
is currently struggling with high unemployment, a relatively illiquid credit market, and a deficit that
raises serious concerns about the value of the US Dollar in the not too distant future. With interest
rates already at historic lows and the government pursuing an unprecedented policy of quantitative
monetary easing, options for government intervention are limited. While there is no simple solution to
this problem, I think that we must look at the reasons the housing market went into crisis, and based
on that develop a regulatory system that will allow us to avoid another situation like this in the future.

Contrasting Responsibility in Carver s Fever and...
What allows a human being to constantly face up to the responsibilities of life? What makes a mother

every morning to go to a job he or she hates, come home, and begin the whole process the following
morning? Is it responsibility that makes a person do what they have to do, or rather is it fearing the
consequence? Truthfully, this would depend on the situation. Parents would most likely fulfill their
responsibility towards their child or children because of love; but a person who hates his or her job
probably continues to do it fearing the consequence of unemployment. In the end, one realizes that

As the plot is established, one realizes that Sonny has been arrested for using heroin and sent to
rehabilitation. Consequently, Sonny s brother is so disappointed in him that he initially refuses to even
contact him until he writes a letter to inform Sonny of his daughter s death. When Sonny responds, the
first words he writes are, You don t know how much I needed to hear from you (6). This opening
sentence jolts Sonny s brother into realizing that at the moment his brother needed him the most, he
did not even bother to at least acknowledge him.
Before passing away, the narrator s mother made him promise to always take care of Sonny: You got
to hold on to your brother, she said, and don t let him fall, no matter what it looks like is happening to
him and no matter how evil you gets with him. You going to be evil with him many a time. But don t
you forget what I told you, you hear? (14). The narrator s initial lack of contact might seem that he has
forgotten his promise and his responsibility as an older brother. Realistically though, the narrator is
angry at Sonny s decisions to take heroin and consequently get arrested. This anger that he holds is
preventing him from fulfilling his promise and his responsibility; however, when he receives the letter
from Sonny stating, You don t know how much I needed you , the anger dissipates and he realizes that
his younger brother is in need of guidance and love rather than anger and ignorance.

Themes Of Love And A Poem
This is my anthology which is a collection of different Love Poems . It includes my creations of
poems that I have made in this course, two favorite poems that I enjoyed quite a lot, a poem that I
have borrowed and a graffiti poem that I have also created in this course.
To start it off, I have chosen my theme as Love because I find this topic interesting and one of the
topics that contains a deep meaning. The special part about my anthology is that it shows different
aspects of love and a timeline of love. There is a poem that is about falling in love and another about
the death of a love. My anthology considers different perspectives towards Love. The poems that I
have used in my anthology consists of a wide array of authors, such as William Shakespeare, Percy
Bysshe Shelley, D. H. Lawrence, Martin Armstrong and also me. In my anthology there are two
poems created by me The Blooms of My Love and All I want from you (is away) , there are two found
poems one by Percy Bysshe Shelley called Music, When Soft Voices Die , another by William
Shakespeare Let me not to the marriage of true minds , there is another borrowed poem called Love
Has Crept into Her Sealed Heart by D. H. Lawrence, and the last one is a graffiti work done by me on
a poem called Mrs. Reece Laughs by Martin Armstrong. All these poems are poems that were
interesting to me and filled with lots of deep messages.

Relationship Between Equity And The Common Law
Equity has been described as a mysterious creature that lies distinctly alongside the common law. In
considering the statement, there is an almost linear reversal in which the remedies in equity procure a
type of right not necessarily available in the common law. This peculiar jurisdiction has created
consistent controversy especially in regards to the fusion of the common law and equity. To
understand further, this essay will consider the relationship between equity and the common law. The
development of equity alongside the common law through its history and intention, and application in
case law will be imperative in the discussion of the statement. In conjunction with an analysis of
fusion, it will become apparent that equitable damages were enlivened, separate to, in unfair
circumstances where no rights/damages existed within the common law. In trying to tread the murky
waters of the distinction yet the procedural fusion of equity and common law, the contention of this
essay becomes apparent. Effectively, this essay aims to highlight that the history, intention, application
and fusion fallacies regarding equity, all which point to an assertion that rights in equity are indeed the
product of its remedies. Whether they are merely two streams of jurisdiction, though they run in the
same channel, run side by side and do not mingle their waters , is yet to be seen.

The Evolution Of Modern Cattle Breeding
INTRODUCTION:
Modern cattle breeding increasingly involves the widespread use of advanced reproductive
technologies, including artificial insemination (AI) and multiple ovulation embryo transfer (MOET),
frequently with the germplasm of elite international sires and dams selected through individual and
progeny performance recording schemes. These technologies facilitate the rapid worldwide
multiplication of offspring from elite animals to assist the propagation of genes that improve milk
yield, meat production and other desirable traits. However rapid propagation of desirable genes is
accompanied by simultaneous propagation of genetic mutations that may results in production losses
and animal welfare problems, such as Citrullinaemia. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Incidence of heterozygotes for citrullinemia has been estimated at less than 0.5% among U.S.
Holsteins cattle.
Harper and co workers have reported citrullinemia in the Friesian cattle breed (Friesian are a breed of
dairy cattle identical to the Holstein breed commonly used in the United States) in Australia.
Bovine citrullinemia was not a useful marker for milk, fat and protein production because 1) the
frequency of the defective allele was low and 2) within family differences was non significant
between normal and heterozygous half sisters (Roger, 1998).
Pathogenesis:
Citrullinemia is an inborn error of metabolism due to a deficiency of the urea cycle enzyme
argininosuccinate synthetase. The affected animals have liver AS mRNA levels at less than 5% of
controls due to a single base pair mutation (Dennis, 1989). This metabolic disorder was first identified
in humans and later in dogs and
Friesian calves (Odalys, 2009). The genetic disorder results in a deficiency in arginino succinate
synthetase, leading to enzymatic disruption of the urea cycle.
Argininosuccinate synthetase (ASS, EC 6.3.4.5) is a urea cycle enzyme which is expressed at high
levels in the liver. The enzyme catalyzes the conversion of citrulline, aspartate, and ATP to yield
argininosuccinate, the immediate precursor of arginine (Husson, 2003). The mutation responsible for
citrullinemia has been characterized as a single base substitution (C T) in exon 5

We Define An Indoor Mobile Robot Essay
We define {it verbalization} as the process by which an autonomous robot converts its own experience
into language. We represent the variations in possible explanations for the same robot experience in
the extit{verbalization space} (VS). Each region in verbalization space represents a different way to
generate explanations to describe its experience, by providing different information as preferred by the
user. In this work the process of verbalization has been discussed for describing our mobile service
robot, CoBot s path. Note that this method can be expanded to other robot s experience as well.
subsection{Environment Map and Route Plan} label{subsec:pathcomp} In order to compute a route
verbalization, the verbalization algorithm requires an environment map with annotations representing
high level locations of interest. We define an indoor mobile robot s map $M = langle P, E angle$ as set
of points $p = (x,y,m) in P$ representing unique locations in our building where m represents the floor
number and the name of the building, and edges $e = langle p_1, p_2, d, t angle in E$ that connect
two points taking time $t$ to traverse distance $d$. Using our map, a route planner produces route
plans as trajectories through our map.
The route plan is composed of a starting point $S$, finish point $F$, an ordered list of intermediate
waypoints $W subset P$, and a subset of edges in $E$ that connect $S$ to $F$ through $W$.

There are approximately 630 visual effects shots in the film that had to be shot individual shots in
order to capture the proper theme of the storyline. Technical advancements were made in
environments, lighting, and simulation of physical effects and integration of CG characters in a real
environment. This movie was a true success through the use of well known actors, and by using
proper voice over acting throughout this film. Actors such as Tyrese Gibson (SGT Epps), Magan Fox
(Mikaela Banes), and John Keller (John Turturro) just to name a few of the actors that made this
movie a huge success. The reason acting played a significant role in the accomplishment of this movie
was because they had to act without having the most significant actors being present, the Transformers
themselves. All the acting conducted in this movie had to be conducted without the use of real robot
actors and most by standing in front of blue screens. By the use of editing the theatrical scenes were
superimposed into the background of the acting conducted. It took a team of editors and computer
programmers in order to accomplish this mission. This leads us into our second topic for discussion,
the type and style of directing along with how this movie was edited. The director of Transformers ,
Michael Bay , is a very hands on director. He is known for his ability to tell challenging stories

developed in 1949 and hit the national spotlight in 1952. Over the decades, he has definitely become
an icon among toy aficionados. The original 1952 toy set included plastic pieces that were affixed to a
common household object; the toy s body was not included until 1964. He was the first toy advertised
on television, and a direct increase in sales correlated with the new venture. Originally costing only
98¢, the toy became a huge success for the Hassenfeld Brothers (Hasbro.) In 1953, he got married and
had children, and in 1987 he quit smoking. What is the name of this ultra famous

Did The French Revolution Influence The Enlightenment Idea...
During the late eighteenth century, the people of France began to feel a sense of dissatisfaction
towards the government due to a number of causes. Many scholars argue that the nobility and
bourgeoisie, or middle class, had internal conflicts with each other or that the two classes had similar
interests and formed an educated elite. In addition, France was very poor at the time and sported a
massive financial debt due to the nation s participation in the American Revolution. This in turn led to
famine and popular unrest within the citizens of France. Although many monarchs, such as Louis XIV
and those of Prussia and Austria, opposed the idea of a revolution, the citizens, influenced by
Enlightenment ideas, realized that kings were unnecessary and overthrew ... Show more content on

Due to the enormous national debt, King Louis XIV had no choice but to increase taxes. In 1787, the
minister of finance imposed a tax on all land and formed assemblies to help institute the tax. The
minister persuaded Louis XIV to call an Assembly of Notables, or a group of nobles and clergy, to
gain support for the heavy taxation. The notables advocated for a meeting of the Estates General since
the sizable tax would have a great impact on the economy of the nation. The Estates General was
essentially a legislative body made up of representatives from the three social classes; the last time it
met prior to the 1789 congregation was in 1614. The clergy, nobility, and commoners each elected
their representatives separately and created a list of grievances. Although the spokesmen for each class
had different living conditions,

Scarlet Letter Essay
A common theme throughout literature is religion and how the author feels about his or her faith.
Nathaniel Hawthorne uses rhetorical devices to draw comparisons between characters and events in
The Scarlet Letter and Biblical figures and accounts. A few of the devices found in this novel that
connect it to the Bible are symbolism, paradox, allusions, and characterization. It is important to first
look at the characters and how they are described through characterization.
The first rhetorical device is characterization. The way the main characters are described by
Hawthorne sets up how they will be perceived. It is through this that we see the first inklings of
biblical figures. Biblical characters are seen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, when you examine them in greater depth it becomes apparent that there is more to them
than there originally appeared to be. The first is that of the scarlet letter itself. The A was originally
intended to show people that the person wearing it was a sinner who had committed adultery.
However, as the novel develops it becomes more of a sign of heaven through the meaning of angel.
This is first seen when an A appears in the sky shortly after the death of Governor Winthrop. It is at
this time that the townspeople decide this is a sign that Governor Winthrop was a good Christian who
has gone on to a better life. But the townspeople cannot help but realize that this is the same thing
which the have made one of their own people, Hester, wear. Another symbol is found in what is one of
Hester s greatest skills. Her ability with a needle to sew and embroider better than anyone else has a
lot more meaning than there appears to be. Hester uses sewing as her outlet when she is condemned by
the townspeople, but it is through her seclusion and the sewing she does during her time alone that
strengthens her faith in herself and God, much like Mary did after she first learned of her pregnancy.
This faith proves very helpful to her in more trying times. Yet another symbol is made through the
rosebush. The rose bush is a symbol of sin, and Pearl continues to claim

The Key Studies Within Social Psychology
This essay aims to explore and describe some of the key studies within Social Psychology and show
why social psychology is still important within the science of psychology today. Social psychology
was once described by Allport (as cited in Lindzey Aronson, 1985, p.5) as, the scientific study of how
people s thoughts, feelings and behaviours are influenced by the actual, imagined or implied presence
of others . One of the first psychologists to study social psychology was Kurt Lewin. Lewin is
considered the father of social psychology by many as he took a stand against the dominant
behaviourist approach during the 1920 s through his belief that interaction between the individual and
their environment is key to affecting behaviour, rather than environment alone. His revolutionary ideas
matured into the study of group dynamics, which is widely used by many organisations today (Collin,
2012).
Within social psychology there are areas of behaviour which psychologists have been particularly
interested in. These areas include conformity, obedience and social facilitation to name a few. Two key
studies within the areas of obedience and conformity were carried out by Milgram and Asch
(Billingham, Ladbrook, Standring Teahan, 2008).
Milgram investigated how far people would be prepared to go when obeying an authority figure. Forty
men aged from 20 to 50 volunteered to take part. When the participant arrived they were greeted by
the experimenter who was wearing a lab coat. The

Notes On The Trade System
Timotius Ferdinand
Mini Case 1
FIN 536.03
November 10th, 2016
1.
The carry trade is a system to gain profit by borrowing money using low interest rate currency and
then investing it with another currency of high interest rate. Carry trade is a quick and easy way to get
profit. Investors would benefit from the failure of Uncovered Interest Rate Parity (UIRP). According
to Bloomberg, the carry trade is the easy money , it is an easy way to get profit without any hassle or
hard work.
Money managers can easily get profit by utilizing the failure of UIRP. The arbitrage techniques work
for the investors because the UIRP does not hold. The uncovered interest rate parity is a parity
condition stating that the difference between interest rates from any currency should be equal. But in
the real world, the UIRP does not hold, this is what attract investors to do arbitrage between
currencies. Previously, people pair Australian Dollar with Japanese Yen, but the instability of these
both currencies, force money managers to change their funding and target currency, which is why
people start to carry trade Indian Rupees and Euros.
2.
Developed countries tend to have low or negative interest rates. The main reason for low interest rates
in the developed countries is to stimulate economic growth. European Central Bank (ECB) is an
institution that regulates the interest rates in the Euro zone. Negative or low interest rate was created
to help the slow or low economic growth. In contrast,

How Does George Orwell Use Of Authoritarianism
The purpose of this investigation is to examine George Orwell s use of authoritarianism through his
works of 1984, Animal Farm, and Homage to Catalonia from analyzing the question, To what extent
does the portrayal of authoritarianism change? This essay focuses on investigating three of his works,
each of which present a unique society where authoritarianism is portrayed based on Orwell s own
experiences. 1984 and Animal Farm serve as a reflection of Orwell s experiences in the Spanish Civil
War in 1936, and of his perspectives on right wing and left wing. Hence, Homage to Catalonia was
implemented as a demonstration of how it influences Orwell s portrayal of authoritarianism in his
other two works. These works depict various governments

Examples Of Dystopian Discourse
Dystopian discourse is mostly totalitarianism or a government that is closed to communism with
dictatorship. At its heart is an economic critique of capitalism and socialism. Since capitalism seems to
be the opposite of socialism, it seems that totalitarianism is in the middle. In capitalism, the
businessmen are the one who has the power and get most of the money while in socialism, the society
has the power and regulate the state. In totalitarianism which is present in dystopian discourse, only
one dictator or a small group of people rule the state and everyone else follows in their command.
Some people think that there are many flaws in capitalism. Since it is how most countries are run with

Barnhouse Effect Essay
Name: Glory Christian
Professor: Desmond T. Burke
EAC150
Date:29th July 2017
There are many different types of creature on earth but human is considered as highest among all the
living creatures. Brain is the thing which makes human superior to any other living creature. Both the
stories selected by me are an exceptional examples of the human brain power. Moreover the writers
have used their imagination in a beautiful way to depict the stories also the stories have a hidden
moral which is only known to those who really get into the core of them. One of the story is The
report on Barnhouse effect and other one is the secret life of Walter Mitty .
To begin with, both the stories are a beautiful work of imagination. On one hand Mitty is ... Show

This shows the whether it be subconsciously or coincidently, witty has a strong patriotic feeling inside
him, which indirectly encouraged him to imagine this stuff up. While if we consider professor Arthur,
he s shown to be a true patriot in the story. The story tells that Professor Arthur comes to know about
his ability during the second World War. Looking around at all the destruction caused by the war,
unconsciously forces him to make a new weapon on his own. Considering the after effects of the war,
Professor Arthur chooses to use his weapon to restore peace in the world. He uses his dynamo
psychism power to demolish the large amount of weapons and other things which are used in war.
Which proves him to be a messenger of peace and a true patriot
Both the characters are really meek and fearful. The image of Walter Mitty by others is that of a meek
husband who is dominated by his wife and is not at all adventurous and seriously lacks motives and
goal in his life. The way Walter perceives himself to be in his dream world is entirely different from
what he is in his real life. While professor Arthur fears the destruction of the world. Declaring himself
the world s first weapon with a conscience , he flees and goes into hiding. Even Though he destroys
the arms and ammunitions, he is afraid that he is mortal and human life is transient. He fears that at
some point of time, again the world will turn towards war like situations.

Teutonic Knights Historical Analysis
The journal article written by William Urban provided a different perspective in the role played by the
Teutonic Knights during the Baltic crusades. Typically, historical analysis implies that the Teutonic
Knights were ruthless in the elimination and conversion of Baltic pagans to Christianity. However,
Urban s article does not dwell on the brutality of the Knights. Urban alludes to the knights as
policemen. Stating that they were invited to Livonia in an effort to save the crusader state from
internal collapse caused by political infighting among the Germans, Danes, and Slavs. Once the
knights gained control of the political instability within the region, they began a process of
establishing a defensive perimeter along the southern frontier. Urban wrote that Christian Russians
protected the eastern frontier of Livonia from invasion. Therefore, the knights showed little concern
about protecting the eastern border. The creation of a defensive line along the southern border was an
attempt at preventing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, marauding pagans often decimated native tribes who lived beyond the protection provided
by the castle network. Eventually, the knights in an effort to provide protection resettled the natives
behind the castles. The castles were simple in design with the most elaborate being those of the
Teutonic Knights. They typically housed a dozen knights, foot soldiers, mercenaries, native
militiamen, servants, merchants, and priest. The castle builders took advantage of the topography
utilizing natural waterways and land elevations to establish natural defensive borders. The waterways
were a key element to the castles design making surprise attacks virtually impossible. Most
importantly, they allowed for the resupply of men and equipment, and they provided the knights with
a water highway

Sociological Perspectives on Religion Essay example
Religion is a ritualized system of beliefs and practices related to things defined as sacred by an
organized community of believers. (Basirico et.al. 379). Religion is an important element in the
society because it influences the way individuals act and think. It has shaped the relationship and
bonding among families as well as influenced the decision made in economics and politics. Religion
in general has contributed to shape a society and a government structure which will influence the way
the individuals under certain governmental structure behave. Sociologists are interested in religion
mainly because religious belief is heavily rooted in individuals lives and it helps sociologists to
interpret human s actions, expression, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, no matter how sociologists and scientists view religion, there are a lot of people who will
still believe in their own religion and that there exists a power that science cannot explain. For
example, in an Islamic country such as Indonesia, government is organized base on what is
appropriate according to Islam. Even though, there are a lot of people questions the existence of
supernatural power and hundreds of books publish that study the scientific view of religion,
government and people in that country still believe in their religions. Students at school also study
about science and sociological perspective toward religion and almost every student still believe in
their religion and practice it in their societies. Moreover, in US where freedom of speech is allowed
and knowledge can be shared quickly by internet, every person in US knows about scientific study of
religion but Christianity is still emphasized in everyday life. People may only view sociological and
scientific perspective of religion as one of the knowledge that need to be known but doesn t have to be
practiced. Overall, the sociological study in religions does not undermine nor strengthen one s faith.
Other factors such as people who use religion to abuse people or control over people that may have
made a person to change their view toward religion. Sociologists also view religion as part

Comparing The Enuma Elish And Book Of Genesis
As written in the Old Testament the Creation Story describing how the Earth and mankind were
created became a fundamental part of Judaism and Christianity. Creation myths similar to the Judaic
and Christian creation myth are found in other ancient civilizations and cultures of the Near East such
as the Sumerians, Akkadians, Assyrians, Babylonians and the Persians. The Enuma Elish also known
as the Seven Tablets of Creation, written as early as 1800BC, and discovered, in 1849AD, exhibits
parallels to the creation as described in the Old Testament. These seven tablets written in a
combination of Sumerian Akkadian cuneiform script details the creation of the Earth and mankind in

From the Canaanite dialect of the Semitic language the word lehem, which is the last part of the name
of Bethlehem means city of bread. Scholars such as William Albright along with others claim that the
lehem comes from the older Semitic root word Lahmu and Lahamu, instead of the Canaanite word
meaning bread. Two other words that have similar meanings are Tiamat and Tehowm. From Sumerian,
Babylonian mythology Tiamat is the goddess of the primordial oceans and bearer of sky and the Earth
and the Hebrew word Tehowm is a derivate of the Ugaritic Semitic dialect t h m, which is from the
root word of the Akkadian Semitic dialect tamtu. The Akkadians established the Semitic language in
nation of Sumer where the word Tiamat came from. The word Tehowm means the deep or the abyss
and also makes reference to the biblical primordial waters of creation as used in Genesis 1:2, from the
Orthodox Jewish Bible, as well as mentioned in seven other places in the Old Testament. The
following is the Hebrew Semitic version of Genesis 1:2, combined with an English translation from
the Greek Septuagint Bible and the King James Version in italic

  • 2. Outsourcing Service From A Supplier Outsourcing is simply obtaining a product or a service from a supplier. Outsourcing services can supplement an existing internal source, replace an existing internal source, or consist of a new product or service a company has never provided before. In the past, it was commonplace for companies to try to do it all. Manufacturing companies would design, engineer, and build the end product while providing Information Technology support... regardless of the complexity of the end product and its components. As time went on, it became obvious that a company cannot do it all. It became more and more routine for organizations to outsource complex portions of their work. Smaller companies found it useful to outsource their payroll processing. This soon grew into the recognition that if it is better to outsource payroll, why not consider outsourcing the entire HR function? Industries began to grow to support vertical business services such as HR and accounting. The companies that are chosen to provide the service also accept a part of the risk. In today s world, the most effective method of doing business is for a company to focus on their core competencies what they do best. The role of outsourcing is critical to a project s success. It can expand the customer base and allow organizations to focus more on relationships. As outsourcing grows, it becomes more and more important to balance advantages and disadvantages, understand the risks, and act to mitigate those risks. A ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Control and Manipulation in A Rose for Emily and The... In William Faulkner s A Rose for Emily and Charlotte Perkins Gilman s The Yellow Wallpaper, the two main characters exhibit behavior that some readers may consider unusual or even totally crazy. These two women are having a difficult time adjusting to the many changes taking place around them. In the midst of these changes, they face the struggles of being women such as post partum depression and love and rejection from men. Such problems become so overbearing that each woman ends up in their own delusional world which in turn, leads to their isolation and insanity. Gender issues, love, hate, insanity and isolation, are thematic connections in both stories and are important components of how each woman functions throughout the story and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When the woman gets out of bed to investigate the wallpaper in the room, her husband says, What is it, little girl? Don t go walking about like that you ll get a cold (319). His choice of words of calling her a little girl belittles the woman and amplifies her feelings of being isolated, not only physically, but emotionally. Since her husband is away most of the time and leaves her in confinement, the woman immerses herself into studying the wallpaper [following] the pattern about by the hour (317). She follows all the twist and turns of the wallpaper, decoding each detail and discovers what she seems to be a woman in a cage. She spends all her time looking at the paper that she eventually becomes obsessed with figuring out the patterns. She begins to identify with the woman in the cage which could signify her imprisonment in the room and her being tormented by her husband s lack of sympathy for her condition and his dominance in their marriage. Just as male dominance is an issue for the woman in Gilman s work, Faulkner s A Rose for Emily details how Emily s father and love interest dictate her life. Unlike the woman in The Yellow Wallpaper being dominated by her own husband, Emily Grierson was under her father s control since an early age. Her, father who was described as a spraddled silhouette and clutching a horsewhip , would chase away any prospective mates for his daughter (Faulkner, 288). Such dominance and solitude carried on until ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. The Feminist Analysis For decades, women have been continuously fighting for equality with men and because of their reluctance to never give up their fight, women have gained many more rights throughout the years. The feminist ideology is incorporated in Pride and Prejudice through Elizabeth Bennett and her blatant reluctance to marry a man any reason other than love. Feminism is still incredibly relevant in today s society and is very important because to this day, men and women are not considered and treated as equals. • 6. Defense Against a Cyber Attack with Malicious Code... The name Malicious Code (Malware) Prevention Plan uses a strategy of defense in depth using operational, human, and technical controls for effectiveness. Used properly, the technical controls available to the TVA organization (TVAO) is effective in stopping a majority of malicious code threats. However, the trusted insider normally has the access needed to turn a threat into an operational risk. As to external threats, the TVAO can expect a continued pattern of organized criminal involvement and international espionage to continue to target the weakest link in the security chain: the human. The defense in depth concept is constructed to rapidly characterize, attribute, and respond to attacks and is given the name Defense of The Grid System or DTGS. The DTGS provides the capability to monitor, detect, analyze, and respond to unauthorized activity, as well as unintentional, non malicious user errors within the iSOC, Tops, and Gen, components of the DTGS. For the DTGS system and its monitored component systems, must detect attacks and respond quickly (e.g. limiting access, excising users, or even disconnecting from the network.) The DTGS Interface Control Document (ICD) addresses five operational capabilities: DTGS defense from cyber attack, maintaining service while under attack, recovering from cyber attack and reduce vulnerabilities, monitoring Information Assistance (IA) of the DTGS. • 7. Physics and Fish Bioenergetics Essays Welcome to the world of fish physics. Many of us understand basic fish behavior and can reach logical conclusions about where the best place to throw a fishing line is. But when we don t think much further than that we are missing out on some very interesting details of fish behavior. We can never fully understand why we find some fish in one location and some fish in other locations until we consider the concept of fish bioenergetics. Ultimately, fish behavior is a product of bioenergetics. First, we will take a look at basic fish bioenergetics, understanding the underlying quantitative principles. Then, we will look at some examples of how physical forces, thermodynamics, and light characteristics are specifically related to fish ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Energy expended by the fish depends on the velocity (flow) of the water and the swimming capability of the fish. The fish must exert a force in the upstream direction that is equal to the force of the water trying to push it downstream. When the fish goes to retrieve a prey item laterally, it will have to swim faster than the current. Getting a little bit more complex, we can consider Holling s disc equation (Stephens and Krebs 1986) which can apply to any foraging animal. This equation s most simplified derivation is R = λe s/ 1 + λh where R is the rate of intake, λ is the rate of encounter with other prey items, e is the energy gain, s is the search cost, and h is the handling time. This equation assumes that searching for prey and handling prey are mutually exclusive activities. It also assumes that the encounter rate will have a positive linear relationship with the time spent searching for prey. For fish, many aspects of the physical environment can effect all of these components. There are many physical factors that effect fish bioenergetics, such as local hydrologic characteristics in a stream or river. However, not all of the physical factors involved are especially obvious. We will look at three examples here. Water velocity plays an extremly important role in fish bioenergetics. It effects components that are detrimental to fish as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Obstacles Affecting Anadromous Fish Populations Anadromous fishes reproduce in freshwater then their progeny migrate to the ocean where they grow and mature then return to freshwater to reproduce. These fishes encounter numerous barriers during their freshwater migration. Migration barriers (e.g. dams, water storage projects, irrigation diversions, impassable culverts, etc.) are significant factors affecting most anadromous fish populations. The primary effects of barriers on anadromous fishes are the reduction of their population abundance and productivity through excessive mortality, and reduction in habitat quantity and quality (NMFS, 2008). Towler et al. (2015) defines a fishway as hydraulic structures and devices that provide continuous pathways for fish to move over or around otherwise impassable barriers. Many existing fishways were designed for adult fish, and where present, adult salmonids. Designing fishways for a multiple species is of growing interest in the United States, Canada, and other countries. However, rivers with greater biodiversity require fish passage solutions that accommodate a wide range of fish sizes, swimming abilities, and migration strategies (Bunt, et al., 2012). Additionally, current fishway designs have been shown to possess attributes that hinder their ability to attract ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This new hybrid design is intended to promote passage not only for adult anadromous salmonids but also juvenile salmonids and non salmonid species. The end product of this analysis will be quantifying the hydraulic performance characteristics in terms of velocity, turbulence, depth, flow type (plunging or streaming), and energy dissipation over a range of passage flows, and determining where passage is potentially possible for adult salmonids. • 9. Hierarchy In The Lion King This image from the Lion King movie is an iconic image that includes all of the characters shown in the movie. The image displays all the characters in such a way that allows the viewer to see them all together in one place in which the background represents the setting of the movie. However, this image can be analyzed, and this results in many of the details showing the idea of hierarchy. The analyzation and representation of this idea takes a unique approach due to this movie being an animated movie rather than a normal movie. Despite this unique take on the idea of hierarchy, the idea is still easy to understand because of extra steps taken to ensure it is portrayed clearly. My image of the Lion King shows the viewer that animals and hierarchy can be artificially represented. It may not seem ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Michela Balconi and Silvia Pagani Recent research found that . . . status hierarchy requires that individuals express and recognize social status signals, such as visual cues or vocal calls, which communicate rank and convey expectations about appropriate social behavior given a hierarchical social context (Balconi Pagani). Hierarchy may be an idea that can be noticed by external factors such as a person s looks, but this is not always the case. This is especially true in this Lion King image, since the characters do not wear clothes being that they are wild animals. As a result, this other way to show hierarchy is used. If a someone is higher up in the hierarchy, the result is usually that they are happier than other who are not as high up as they are. This causes the person that is higher up to feel happy, while the person who is not as high up does not feel happy, in fact, they may feel angry or like they want to get revenge, as shown by one of the hyenas in the ... • 10. Transcendentalism, By Ralph Waldo Emerson Re striking the Balance In a constantly updating world, eventually cultural diffusion causes changes to a society s views and practices over a period of time. With many religious pressures in Europe and the constant switch between Catholicism and Protestantism, a group called the Puritans moved to America to start life anew. The Puritan lifestyle took hold of America s New England colonies and became a theocracy of how people lived their lives. People lived by the Puritan interpretation of the New Testament with harsh forms of punishment for the violation of even the most simple sins. Because of this restricting lifestyle and new ideas like the Enlightenment which caused intellectual reforms, people started to break away from the extreme Puritan philosophy. Another movement occurring in America called Transcendentalism, on the other side of the spectrum of Puritanism, started with writer Ralph Waldo Emerson, specifically with his essay Nature . Emerson depicts the prime example of the breaking away from strict religion to Transcendentalism. In America, Emerson was a priest who had been ridiculed and had traveled to Europe to find himself. After meeting up with writers of the Romanticism movement, he fell in love with it and brought it back to America under the name of Transcendentalism. Puritanism and Transcendentalism have opposing philosophies which include their view on people, philosophy and God , and on nature through essays and texts by: William Bradford, Anne ... • 11. Social Responsibility And Shareholder Theory In recent years, society insistently demands from corporations actively participate in his life. The main idea is next, inasmuch as corporation is extracted from society a certain income, they therefore obliged him to pay. What is a social responsibility of business today? What should do executives only satisfy shareholders or they have also obligations to society? One of the most famous studies about social responsibility and shareholder theory presents in the article of economist Milton Friedman named The Social Responsibility of Business Is to Increase Its Profits , which has been published in 1970n. In this article author, who has subsequently rewarded with the Nobel Prize, was formulated main points of shareholders theory and denounced the whole concept of socially responsible business. Friedman declared, There is one and only one social responsibility of business to use its resources and engage in activities designed to increase its profits so long as it stays within the rules of the game (214). He defenses his view using next arguments. First, he pointed that the primary responsibility of managers is the fulfillment of desires owners of the company, hence shareholders. The wishes of shareholders are reduced mainly to one thing, namely to bring the company the highest possible income. In this case executive s responsibility is to conduct the business in accordance with their [shareholders] desires, which generally will be to make as much money as possible ... • 12. A Life Of My Life PEASANT I cannot believe my life. Every day, I wake up, with not much sleep, knowing of the tiring labour that is to come. Stitching, weaving, mending, spinning, harvesting and nursing. It s no wonder waking up at 3 am isn t a problem for me. My husband practically has it the same. He must go out to the lord s farm, tending to the crops and plants. We both hate the summer season. Since he has to work, from dusk to dawn, his work hours will be longer. And now we ll have to work harder since there is a lot of harvest in summer. We peasants are the hardest working out of all the groups in the feudal system; though, occasionally the lords hold a feast in celebration of a special event. At these times, we wouldn t have to work, but go to the Lord s castle and enjoy the feast. These were our grand tidbits in our life. Sometimes though, we peasants get punished. Bad. My friend, Alys, didn t agree with the idea that you were just born into either a life of luxury, or a life of labour. He stole from one of our lords, the knight Amicia Godfrey. Alys earned himself a missing right hand, with the help of the blade of justice . It was a wrong thing to do, but cutting of their right hand? That s just over the top. It should be that he just gives back the money and does extra labour or something. If it s continuous, I agree that more serious punishments need to be dished out, but this was Alys first time. Then there s Sybilla. She cheated on her husband, and got what she deserved: a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Our nation is currently struggling with high unemployment, a relatively illiquid credit market, and a deficit that raises serious concerns about the value of the US Dollar in the not too distant future. With interest rates already at historic lows and the government pursuing an unprecedented policy of quantitative monetary easing, options for government intervention are limited. While there is no simple solution to this problem, I think that we must look at the reasons the housing market went into crisis, and based on that develop a regulatory system that will allow us to avoid another situation like this in the future. What makes a mother or father continue to clothe, feed, and pick up their child from school? What makes a person wake up every morning to go to a job he or she hates, come home, and begin the whole process the following morning? Is it responsibility that makes a person do what they have to do, or rather is it fearing the consequence? Truthfully, this would depend on the situation. Parents would most likely fulfill their responsibility towards their child or children because of love; but a person who hates his or her job probably continues to do it fearing the consequence of unemployment. In the end, one realizes that despite all the responsibilities a person ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As the plot is established, one realizes that Sonny has been arrested for using heroin and sent to rehabilitation. Consequently, Sonny s brother is so disappointed in him that he initially refuses to even contact him until he writes a letter to inform Sonny of his daughter s death. When Sonny responds, the first words he writes are, You don t know how much I needed to hear from you (6). This opening sentence jolts Sonny s brother into realizing that at the moment his brother needed him the most, he did not even bother to at least acknowledge him. Before passing away, the narrator s mother made him promise to always take care of Sonny: You got to hold on to your brother, she said, and don t let him fall, no matter what it looks like is happening to him and no matter how evil you gets with him. You going to be evil with him many a time. But don t you forget what I told you, you hear? (14). The narrator s initial lack of contact might seem that he has forgotten his promise and his responsibility as an older brother. Realistically though, the narrator is angry at Sonny s decisions to take heroin and consequently get arrested. This anger that he holds is preventing him from fulfilling his promise and his responsibility; however, when he receives the letter from Sonny stating, You don t know how much I needed you , the anger dissipates and he realizes that his younger brother is in need of guidance and love rather than anger and ignorance. ... • 16. Relationship Between Equity And The Common Law Equity has been described as a mysterious creature that lies distinctly alongside the common law. In considering the statement, there is an almost linear reversal in which the remedies in equity procure a type of right not necessarily available in the common law. This peculiar jurisdiction has created consistent controversy especially in regards to the fusion of the common law and equity. To understand further, this essay will consider the relationship between equity and the common law. The development of equity alongside the common law through its history and intention, and application in case law will be imperative in the discussion of the statement. In conjunction with an analysis of fusion, it will become apparent that equitable damages were enlivened, separate to, in unfair circumstances where no rights/damages existed within the common law. In trying to tread the murky waters of the distinction yet the procedural fusion of equity and common law, the contention of this essay becomes apparent. Effectively, this essay aims to highlight that the history, intention, application and fusion fallacies regarding equity, all which point to an assertion that rights in equity are indeed the product of its remedies. Whether they are merely two streams of jurisdiction, though they run in the same channel, run side by side and do not mingle their waters , is yet to be seen. The Evolution Of Modern Cattle Breeding INTRODUCTION: Modern cattle breeding increasingly involves the widespread use of advanced reproductive technologies, including artificial insemination (AI) and multiple ovulation embryo transfer (MOET), frequently with the germplasm of elite international sires and dams selected through individual and progeny performance recording schemes. These technologies facilitate the rapid worldwide multiplication of offspring from elite animals to assist the propagation of genes that improve milk yield, meat production and other desirable traits. However rapid propagation of desirable genes is accompanied by simultaneous propagation of genetic mutations that may results in production losses and animal welfare problems, such as Citrullinaemia. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Incidence of heterozygotes for citrullinemia has been estimated at less than 0.5% among U.S. Holsteins cattle. Harper and co workers have reported citrullinemia in the Friesian cattle breed (Friesian are a breed of dairy cattle identical to the Holstein breed commonly used in the United States) in Australia. Bovine citrullinemia was not a useful marker for milk, fat and protein production because 1) the frequency of the defective allele was low and 2) within family differences was non significant between normal and heterozygous half sisters (Roger, 1998). Pathogenesis: Citrullinemia is an inborn error of metabolism due to a deficiency of the urea cycle enzyme argininosuccinate synthetase. The affected animals have liver AS mRNA levels at less than 5% of controls due to a single base pair mutation (Dennis, 1989). This metabolic disorder was first identified in humans and later in dogs and Friesian calves (Odalys, 2009). The genetic disorder results in a deficiency in arginino succinate synthetase, leading to enzymatic disruption of the urea cycle. Argininosuccinate synthetase (ASS, EC 6.3.4.5) is a urea cycle enzyme which is expressed at high levels in the liver. The enzyme catalyzes the conversion of citrulline, aspartate, and ATP to yield argininosuccinate, the immediate precursor of arginine (Husson, 2003). We represent the variations in possible explanations for the same robot experience in the extit{verbalization space} (VS). Each region in verbalization space represents a different way to generate explanations to describe its experience, by providing different information as preferred by the user. In this work the process of verbalization has been discussed for describing our mobile service robot, CoBot s path. Note that this method can be expanded to other robot s experience as well. subsection{Environment Map and Route Plan} label{subsec:pathcomp} In order to compute a route verbalization, the verbalization algorithm requires an environment map with annotations representing high level locations of interest. We define an indoor mobile robot s map $M = langle P, E angle$ as set of points $p = (x,y,m) in P$ representing unique locations in our building where m represents the floor number and the name of the building, and edges $e = langle p_1, p_2, d, t angle in E$ that connect two points taking time $t$ to traverse distance $d$. Using our map, a route planner produces route plans as trajectories through our map. The route plan is composed of a starting point $S$, finish point $F$, an ordered list of intermediate waypoints $W subset P$, and a subset of edges in $E$ that connect $S$ to $F$ through $W$. During the late eighteenth century, the people of France began to feel a sense of dissatisfaction towards the government due to a number of causes. Many scholars argue that the nobility and bourgeoisie, or middle class, had internal conflicts with each other or that the two classes had similar interests and formed an educated elite. In addition, France was very poor at the time and sported a massive financial debt due to the nation s participation in the American Revolution. This in turn led to famine and popular unrest within the citizens of France. Nathaniel Hawthorne uses rhetorical devices to draw comparisons between characters and events in The Scarlet Letter and Biblical figures and accounts. A few of the devices found in this novel that connect it to the Bible are symbolism, paradox, allusions, and characterization. It is important to first look at the characters and how they are described through characterization. The first rhetorical device is characterization. The first is that of the scarlet letter itself. The A was originally intended to show people that the person wearing it was a sinner who had committed adultery. However, as the novel develops it becomes more of a sign of heaven through the meaning of angel. This is first seen when an A appears in the sky shortly after the death of Governor Winthrop. It is at this time that the townspeople decide this is a sign that Governor Winthrop was a good Christian who has gone on to a better life. But the townspeople cannot help but realize that this is the same thing which the have made one of their own people, Hester, wear. Another symbol is found in what is one of Hester s greatest skills. Hester uses sewing as her outlet when she is condemned by the townspeople, but it is through her seclusion and the sewing she does during her time alone that strengthens her faith in herself and God, much like Mary did after she first learned of her pregnancy. • 23. The Key Studies Within Social Psychology This essay aims to explore and describe some of the key studies within Social Psychology and show why social psychology is still important within the science of psychology today. Social psychology was once described by Allport (as cited in Lindzey Aronson, 1985, p.5) as, the scientific study of how people s thoughts, feelings and behaviours are influenced by the actual, imagined or implied presence of others . One of the first psychologists to study social psychology was Kurt Lewin. Lewin is considered the father of social psychology by many as he took a stand against the dominant behaviourist approach during the 1920 s through his belief that interaction between the individual and their environment is key to affecting behaviour, rather than environment alone. His revolutionary ideas matured into the study of group dynamics, which is widely used by many organisations today (Collin, 2012). Within social psychology there are areas of behaviour which psychologists have been particularly interested in. These areas include conformity, obedience and social facilitation to name a few. Two key studies within the areas of obedience and conformity were carried out by Milgram and Asch (Billingham, Ladbrook, Standring Teahan, 2008).
