Romeo And Juliet 1996 Vs 1996
The Romeo and Juliet film adaptation that I preferred was Baz Luhrmann s 1996 adaptation.
The two films, even though they were about the same story of star cross d lovers, were
completely different. The 1996 version made the timeless classic, Romeo and Juliet, much more
modern and relatable. The decision to depict Romeo and Juliet, in a bustling city was a daring
move, but was still able to convey the theme that Shakespeare had intended nearly 400 years ago.
The costumes in the 2013 version were much more realistic with peasants, kings, and townspeople
being dressed, similarly to how they would have been dressed during Shakespeare s times. On the
other hand, the characters in the 1996 version were dressed with t shirts and adorned with

The Ethics Of The Ethical Systems
The Ethical Systems In ethics, four systems serve as different beliefs concerning our morals:
Relativism Ethics, Consequentialism Ethics, Deontological Ethics, and Virtue Ethics. These four
theories attempt to define what right and wrong should be and how one should handle any
situation. There are many strengths and weaknesses of each view. The goal is to determine which
theory is the best by exploring real world situations and questioning the claims that just don t work
out.
RELATIVISM ETHICS
There are two different types of relativistic views: Cultural Relativism and Subjectivism. Cultural
Relativism is the belief that culture defines what is right and wrong. Subjectivism is the belief that
the individual person decides what is right and wrong. Many pros and cons exist with an overall
relativistic view. First, the positive: Someone with this view will obviously be very tolerant and is
not likely to discriminate against a different culture or person. Also, morality depends on a social
experience, instead of being derived from a higher being, morality is derived from the surrounding
people. It is good to know the diversity and experience the many aspects of the world. Although this
might sound like a perfect world for everyone to be tolerant and understanding of one another, there
are many flaws to this theory. One flaw is that with this way of thinking, justice cannot exist. If
someone committed murder, they cannot be punished because they believe murder is right, which

The Inner Workings of Congress
The inter workings of Congress have been studied extensively by Richard Fenno and David R.
Mayhew. Mayhew s study of Congress took place in Washington, while Richard Fenno conducted
his research by following politicians within their congressional district. Mayhew attributes three
primary goals to congressmen getting reelected, achieving influence within Congress and making
good Policy . Fenno also attributes three basic goals, having influence inside the House than other
congressmen. Second, helping their constituents and thereby insuring their reelection, and lastly
helping make good policy. The purpose of this paper is to research a member of Congress and to
make a direct connection between his activity in Washington and his home district. The paper will
answer whether the congressmen is a delegate or trustee. Are the actions a pursuit for reelection?
Are the committee assignments a path for movement within the House or outside? What legislation
has he/she sponsored or co sponsored and does it directly reflect his/her districts political view. And
finally, do major industries and interest groups within his/she district affect the way he/she votes.
Mayhew examines the congressmen activity in Washington that is useful to engage in for the
purpose of reelection. The first activity is advertising, defined by making a conscious effort to
disseminate one s name in a positive light among constituents to gain a favorable view. They
emphasize personal qualities such as:

Causes And Treatment Of Pancreatic Cancer
Pancreatic Cancer What exactly is the pancreas it is an organ that makes insulin and enzymes for
digestion. The pancreas is located behind the lower part of the stomach and is about the size of a
hand (National Institute of Health, n.d.). Pancreatic cancer is a disease that targets the Pancreas.
Can start out as pancreatitis, which can be acute inflammation of the pancreasor the hereditary and
even the deadliest chronic pancreatitis. The chronic form can devastate and debilitate the patient
this form is at higher risk of pancreatic cancer. The mode of transmission is abnormal cells start to
multiply and reproduce and collect creating a tumor or a mast. The detection and treatment of
these tumors can be difficult as medical imaging such as x rays, sonograms and MRI s don t
always give an adequate depiction of the cancer the best way to see the pancreas is through surgery.
There are over 100 kinds of Cancer, the term cancer is used to described a disease in which
abnormal cells divide without control and can invade other tissues (Center for Disease Control
and Prevention(CDC), 2016). Cancer cells do not die out naturally, once the cells start to grow;
they metastasize forming new abnormal cells. In many cancer cases the abnormal cells collect
and form tumors. They have also been known to grow in other tissues and spread all over the body
which is referred to as seeding. Normal cells do not do this. When the DNA is damaged it can
cause cancer cells to rapidly reproduce and

Aquifer Depletion
The High Plains Aquifer encompasses approximately 174,000 square miles and stretches from
Texas to South Dakota (Fig. 1). This aquifer is also known as the Ogallala Aquifer due to the
geologic formation that it lies above. The development of this aquifer along with glacial till
produced through the retreat of glaciers during previous ice ages, has yielded a very productive
region for farming. The High Plains Aquifer is a valuable natural resource for farmers within the
area, but several factors have caused the depletion of this aquifer. Some of the factors that have
caused the depletion include a slow rate of recharge, the overlying formation, and heavy pumping
within the aquifer. For an aquifer to recharge quickly, the overlying formation must consist of a
permeable and porous lithologic unit. These rock units will allow for water to easily pass through
them and into the underlying aquifer for storage. Much of the sediment that makes up the aquifer
consists of sand, silt, and gravel that were derived from runoff of the Rocky Mountains. Recharge is
from precipitation, infiltration, and groundwaterflow through the porous and permeable overlying
lithologic unit to the aquifer. The High Plains Aquifer is situated within a semiarid climate
producing a slower rate of recharge. Much of the Ogallala is located within an... Show more content

The Ogallala Aquifer also supplies millions of people in the Midwest drinking water, so the
depletion of this natural resource would have dire consequences. As advances in technology
progress, a change in the genetics of the crops within the High Plains might result in a plant that
requires a smaller amount of water to flourish. These technologic advances and environmentally
friendly practices could have drastic, positive effects on the groundwater storage within the Ogallala

Girl Model And Documentary Argument
Girl Model and Documentary as Argument Documentaries occupy a unique space in the film world.
Not only must these films attempt to provide a perspective on reality, they must also engage the
audience and provide a form of entertainment. In portraying reality, the films generally take on a
specific perspective. Documentary filmmakers create a filmadvocating a specific point of view in
order to create interest in the film and create a stronger film overall. Bill Nichols calls this the
documentary s argument (165). He states, [I]n documentary, realism serves to make an argument
about the historical world seem persuasive (Nichols 165). Persuading the audience is vital in films

Because of the focus on Nadya and Ashley, the audience does not gain much information about the
companies who recruit and represent the models or the people who work with Nadya and Ashley.
Throughout the film, the audience does view interactions between Nadya and Ashley and the
people they work for, but there is very little emphasis placed on the other people depicted. There is
some focus on Ashley s supervisors and employers, but the focus is often negative. At one point, the
filmmaker includes an interview with Ashley where she mentions that she believes Messiah, the
owner of one of the agencies she scouts for, continues his job because he engages in inappropriate
relationships with the young models he recruits. Ashley states, [Messiah] loves models (Girl). She
never openly states that Messiah has relationships with his models, but the implication is clear.
Although this claim never goes farther, Ashley clearly connects the industry to the sex trade.
Towards the end of the film, Ashley addresses this point in another interview. She claims that some
models find themselves moving into prostitution. Ashley states that the girls already see themselves
selling their body for the camera, so they do not find prostitution a stretch (Girl). Including this
interview near the end of the film leaves the viewer with a lasting sense of unease about the

Same Sex Marriage Is Not The Law Of The Land
Decarrio Turner
Professor Lee
Comp Rhetoric 2

Same Sex Marriage
According to Dr. James Dobson, founder of Focus on the Family, If traditional marriage is not the
law of the land, the institution of the family will cease to exist . Traditional marriage is a legal union
of a man and woman as husband and wife. Inside the court rooms and outside, citizens of the
United States battle out their differences between heterosexual and homosexual marriage; one
reason for this is because the frequency of relationships involving same sex couples in our
society is constantly growing. In America, citizens fight for equality every day and homosexual
couples fight hard for the same rights as heterosexual couples when it comes to marriage. Should
there be equal rights between the two heterosexual and homosexual couples? I believe that
citizens of the same sex that are able to wed should not have the same rights as citizens that
undergo heterosexual marriage; because it doesn t correlate with my religious beliefs, it s more
beneficial for children to be brought up with both the father and mother in their lives, and also,
letting gay couples get married will lead to a weak institution of marriage.
Homosexual couples are fighting for justice within the courtrooms. The Gay Rights Movement has
been around for a while now, and through it, homosexuals have been promoting and fighting for
equality and equal rights for marriage within the courtrooms. The visual I chose to

J. R. R. Tolkien s Influence On The Hobbit
The Hobbit, written by J.R.R. Tolkien, is a children s fantasy novel (though the series The Lord
of the Rings that followed its story was more tuned to adults) that was first published in 1937.
When it was first released, it received critical acclaim from millions of readers, and it was
eventually nominated for the Carnegie Medal and won Best Juvenile Fiction from the New York
Herald Tribune. However, despite its success, the most enduring trait of the novel is its connection
with readers throughout generations that has inspired countless authors and readers. Most people
know the story of The Hobbit, so in this essay, we will explore the creation of this beloved literary
work.

William Morris, who was a 19th century English poet, translator, and creative genius, was a
significant figure to Tolkien. In fact, Tolkien desired to write more in Morris romantic style. In
particular, a chapter named The Desolation of Smaug was directly influenced by Morris style and
ideas (The Letters of J.R.R. Tolkien). Another writer that left an impression on Tolkien was
Samuel Rutherford Crockett. His historical novel The Black Douglas and its villain Gilles de
Retz inspired The Hobbit s evil character Sauron. It is said the narrative style and even the events
in both The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings were influenced by The Black Douglas (Lobdell,
Jared C.). The goblins within The Hobbit are closely associated with the goblins in the novel The
Princess and the Goblin by George MacDonald. In addition, MacDonald impressed upon Tolkien
the role of fantasy in the context of Christianity (J. R. R. Tolkien Encyclopedia: Scholarship and
Critical Assessment). Another key influence on The Hobbit is Tolkien s adoration of Norse
mythology and Germanic philology. Not only are many myths from Norse mythology adapted
into The Hobbit, the names of the characters have a distinct Old Norse feel to them (Rateliff,
John D.). And speaking of characters, the dwarves were modeled after ancient Jewish people and
their history (Rateliff, John D.). Last but not least, the epic Beowulf was the main inspiration
behind the world Tolkien wanted to create. As Tolkien was a respected scholar of Beowulf, The
Hobbit was in part a tribute to the epic and a reworking of it (Purtill, Richard

Social Class and Sumerians
The civilization known as the Sumerians, developed in the Mesopotamia era, are considered to be
the first culture to become civilized. As the Sumerians settled in Mesopotamia, a class structure
gradually took shape which allowed them to progress their society. The second characteristic which
shows the civilizationof the Sumerians was their ability to create progress in agricultural skills and
techniques. The final characteristic representative in the first culture of Mesopotamia is their
contribution to the development of science and writing. Based on the characteristics that the
Sumerians demonstrated we can come to the conclusion that the Mesopotamia era was civilized.

The wheel was also the beginning of wheeled transport, which is still important in our modern

efficiency by nearly three times the original plough . This led to advancements in agriculture and
pushed the Sumerians further towards becoming civilized. The Sumerians were the first
develop a system of writing called cuneiform. The writing system was developed due to the
needs of religion, commerce and government . With the cuneiform system, the Sumerians were
able to record stories of their religion to be passed done to future generations. This was
important to the civilization as it ensured the values of their religion could be carried on. The
new writing system was also important to the civilization as it allowed people to keep track of
what they were trading and made the process of trading more accurate. The government relied
on the new cuneiform system as it gave them a new way to record laws and policies. With the
laws and policies displayed the society good maintain order more easily, as everyone was aware
what was acceptable and unacceptable. The development of the wheel and the creation of a writing
system show how the Sumerians were able to create significant advancements in the science fields.
These advancements show how the Sumerians created a civilized society and a result the
Mesopotamia era can be considered civilized.

Another key benefit to NOC Ltd of using an overseas agent is that the company gets the
advantage of their extensive knowledge of NOC Ltd s target market. However, there are risks
associated with the use of agents as a method of entering an overseas market such as conflicts of
interest addressed by the agency theory which is cited in Crum et al (2005, p16). Some agents
might follow their own strategies for example, by representing NOC Ltd s competitors. Another
downfall of using overseas agents is that NOC Ltd may lose control over its marketing and brand
image if the agent is not willing to build the company s brand. Houston (2005) goes further to
suggest trust issues as another risk therefore, meaning that it could be difficult for Gemma to
ensure that the foreign partner, in this case the agent, will uphold its end of the agreement. As a
result of entering an overseas market, NOC Ltd might encounter foreign exchange risks as all their
orders are in Euros therefore, resulting in NOC Ltd s products being more expensive in the foreign
currency. This could mean that Gemma will not be able to negotiate payment currency in the
Eurozone as she has to exchange the Euros to Sterling. And if she is losing money when
exchanging, then her company could likely lose profits. Due to the economic downturn , a lot of
customers will not be able to buy too

William Allen White and the Farmer s Populist Movement
During the late 19th century in Kansas there was a movement among the general population called
the Farmer s Populist Movement. Today, Kansas is still by far a Republican state, but during this
time the Populist Party engaged the Republican stronghold in a battle to win over the state,
however, in the end the Republicans pulled through. William Allen White, at this time, had become
a well known man in the journalism world and his political allegiance did not go unnoticed among
either those within the political arena or those observing. William Allen White, aside from his
personal political leanings towards the Republican side, was against the Populist movement that was

Populism explains the rise of Populism in 1890 across Kansas as a response to the frustrations of
adapting crop selections and pest management routines to the sub humid environment. Farmers
raised hell in the fall of 1890, in part, because they had not yet formed the farm management
skills that could have prevented such a collapse of operating income. If Populist voters were
choked by monopoly power, the party should have done significantly worse in those townships
served by several competing railroad lines; but if Populist voters were motivated by a dispirited
hunt for capital gains on land through nearness to railway improvements, Populist candidates
should have prospered as they moved farthest away from a rail station. Therefore, if Populist
voters were motivated simply by bitterness over the fact that their township did not have a rail
station then Populist candidates should have done better in a township with no railway station at
all. What was most important was 1) whether a township had a railroad station and 2) how far the
average farmer had to travel to reach a railhead. The farmer s response to crop failures, insect
damage, and the realization that a township might never get a railway station varied. Populism has
become a movement precisely because of how the farm families of the central West adapted to the
sub humid agricultural conditions in hand with how a band of colorful political

Little Endian And The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Each...
1. Describe Big Endian, Little Endian and the advantages and disadvantages of each approach.
Memory is a lot like a large array but rather than using the term index to indicate specific locations
in memory; we use the term address . Each address stores one element at the level of the byte
(Curran, 2006). Although some data types exceed 1 byte; they can be assigned to span more than a
single byte to accommodate larger values.
Within a byte the value is determined by checking the bits right to left. This means that the right
most $#$#0$#$# can be o or 1 value and any bits towards the left indicate a higher value. There
are two ways in which data can be stored in memory. The little endian approach stores new values
in a way that starts at the left and expands to the right, so that each new piece of data is added to
the right , ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The small endian has the advantage that it doesn t feature the overhead of shifting bytes all over the

small endian surpasses big endian in terms of understandability.
2. Describe what an overflow is and how it occurs. Describe some of the problems that overflow
causes, one area that you should research (among others) is the concept of integer based security
attacks.
Basically an overflow is the result where a digit for example, is too large to occupy a certain
memory space and thereby smears other memory locations corrupting data or presenting a security
risk to the operating system. The result of an overflow can cause erratic program behavior, memory
access errors, incorrect results, software vulnerabilities and/or the crash of the operating system.

Ethical Financial Reporting And Disclosure Quality
Article #8
Abstract. The article reviewed was Director Overlap, Ethical Financial Reporting, and
Improvements in Disclosure Quality. The key of the abstract is to emphasize the positive influence
of independent audit committee on the ethical financial reporting, corporate disclosure, and
company ethical environment overall (p. 183).
Introduction. The author studies the relationships between the director overlap and financial
reporting quality, and for that purpose, analyzes the compensation measurement system and how it
tights to performance (p. 183). The researcher also focuses on the impact of audit committee on the
reporting and disclosure. The main objective of the research is to examine the impact of director
overlap on earnings, compensation of executives and independence of the audit committee on
financial performance, ethical financial reporting, and disclosure. The importance of the study lies
in analysis of the control issues, equity based measures, interests of shareholders, managers ability
to prevent fraud, independent financial experts, ethics requirement for reporting, and SEC ethics
rule. The author considers two problems: how the level or degree of audit committee independence
affect the quality of financial reporting; and the relationship between cash incentives and
compensation (p. 184).
Literature Review. The author uses a systematic review of literature in the research. The literature
review is categorized into two parts: study the relationships

Learning about Pocahontas in class made me very interested in the topic of Native Americans
coming over to The New World . I grew up learning that Native Americans were perfectly fine
with people coming over from England to conquer their land, as Disney casually depicts it. During
my research for the paper I watched The New World which was nothing like Disney s Pocahontas.
Even though they both were missing some key history elements. The New World was directed by
Terrence Malick, produced by Sarah Green, and the screenwriter was also Malick. The filmmakers
were pretty accurate with the big parts of the movie; I could imagine that these parts of the movie
were changed to make movie more exciting and entertaining. The film blends recorded... Show

The Cult Of Womanhood By Barbara Welter
The article, The Cult of Womanhood: 1820 1860 written by Barbara Welter discusses the
philosophy towards women in America during the mid 19th century. A set of demands and
expectations based upon four principles: piety, purity, submission and domesticity were placed on
women as well as certain behavioral expectations left 19th centurywomen feeling guilty. It also left
women feeling this way during the industrialization period as well as having a huge presence of
incompatibility with society. Welter shares her viewpoint that the Cult of Womanhood was an
attempt to preserve pre modern values in the industrial age. Men held a dominant place in society

181). Religion was integrated into their life. As the Industrial Age progressed, the strong religious
values weakened through generations. Female education should be preeminently religious (p.182).
The woman was the primary teacher of her child and was expected to teach themselves religion
and be able to teach their children as well. One reason religion was valued was that it did not
take a woman away from her proper sphere, her home. (p. 181) Women only completed grade
school and had many opportunities to read the bible so they were also able to preach family
values, help the poor and contribute to stopping slavery. Devotion to religion was expected.
Welter explains that a woman s brain is capable of comprehending religion even though it is not
visible. As the Industrial Age progressed, the strong religious values weakened through
generations. Submission, another principle, kept women from voicing her opinion when having a
discussion with their husbands or telling their husbands to terminate an annoying idiosyncrasy.
Wives were advised to do their best to reform men, but if they couldn t, to give up gracefully. If

How Did Ho Chi Minh Fight In Vietnam
During the 1940 to 1945 period, all Vietnamese groups struggling for independence from the French
and the Japanese formed a coalition under the leadership under my name Ho Chi Minh . They
called themselves the League for Independence or the Vietminh. On September 2, 1945, the day
Japan surrendered to the Allies, I announced the formation of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam
and read to the crowds in Hanoi the Vietnamese Declaration of Independence. At that time, the new
republic included all of Vietnam. Three weeks later, the British were helping to re establish French
rule and forced the Vietminh out of Saigon. During this time, I tried to gain support from President
Truman but received none. By 1947, French troops occupied Hanoi and the fight for independence

Another reason why I support these actions of the Viet Minh is that it is a fact that the French is
doing everything they can to get rid Vietnam of french colonial power whose actions is causing
devastation to my people. It is a fact that the primary objective of the french in Indochina was
economic to exploit the natural resources of the area and open up markets for french
manufactured goods. Europeans at the time believed only the fittest countries survived and the
only way to survive was to possess a colonial empire. An economic transformation began. This
French rule meant supplying the mother country with products such as rice and rubber. There
were some economic advances under french rule such as rubber plantations being flourished,
industries expanded, coalfields were developed in Tonkin, landless peasants became factory or
mine workers. The area of rice fields, especially in Cochinchina, rose from 518,000 hectares in

Agriculture in California was the reason many migrants viewed the state as one with many
economical opportunities. There were fewer jobs available than those advertised. Even the jobs
that were available provided terrible pay. One had to think of the idea that low pay was greater
than no pay. Corporate farms provided poor living conditions, but it had to be ignored by those
who were seeking jobs ( The Dust Bowl ). White folks from Oklahoma, Texas, and Arkansas
increased in quantity. They were in search of harvesting jobs ( Mass Exodus from the Plains ).

jobs and couldn t provide for their families. It was the perfect opportunity to move to California
because conditions in the area were still good. The land there was fertile. Many migrants had not
seen fertile land in a long while. All the land they could remember was that of a worn out mess.
Along with the fertile land, there was a mild climate. It was different then what these migrants
were used to. Conditions never changed drastically. All knew what was to come ahead. A lot of
hardships were still encountered. Finding work was still very difficult to do. This was because
there was not enough work to occupy all of the people. Hard conditions were dealt with in order
to receive a little bit of money. Finding a job, any job, was considered to be a blessing. Even
then, in times considered to be fair, women did not receive very much pay. This was because they
could not work as much as the males. With males requiring work, women were not accepted easily
and were lucky to even find jobs. Luckily these times have concluded. No longer does one

Persuasive Essay On Tax Reform
REPUBLICANS AIM to unveil Wednesday a long awaited tax plan, premised on the fanciful idea
that slashing taxes by $1.5 trillion over 10 years will somehow leave the federal budget better off.
And it is not just the GOP s most blinkered ideologues who have bought into this wishful thinking.
I think at the end of the day this will actually be reducing the deficit because it s going to finally
get this economy moving, Sen. Rob Portman (R Ohio) said Sunday on Meet the Press. In a
sentence, Mr. Portman erased much of the credibility he developed while decrying deficits during
the Obama years or running the White House Office of Management and Budget during the George
W. Bush presidency.
Sen. Susan Collins (R Maine), one of the few moderate Republicans left in Congress, was hardly
more responsible. If we have just four tenths of 1 percent increase in our [gross domestic product],
which is entirely realistic, it will cover the cost of the tax reform package, she claimed. In fact,
those growth numbers cannot be assumed, and betting the federal budget on hopes of loads of new
revenue is highly risky. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Tax Policy Center concluded that cutting the corporate tax rate, encouraging business
investment and enhancing incentives to work would each encourage economic expansion
modestly. The extra growth would result in maybe $50 billion in new federal revenue over 10

taxes by well over a trillion dollars, leaving a massive hole in the budget. Over time, the negative
consequences of higher federal borrowing would be a serious drag on the

Book Report On The Future Of The Internet
Book Report of The Future of the Internet and How to Stop It
In the computer and technology book The Future of the Internet and How to Stop It , the author
Jonathan L. Zittrain (2008, April 20) wants to alarm us that the internet world which we think is
totally open and ruled by the users all over the world is actually controlled by some particular big
companies and institutions. The openness and creativity of the Internet is a double edged sword.
Under the cover of a bloomed and wonderful development, today s environment of the Internet is in
danger. He suggests that more efficient methods and stricter requirements should be carried out to
standardize the industry of the Internet.
Mr. Zittrain writes the book in the way that associating today s problems of the Internet with the
history of the computer field. Firstly, the author shows the development of personal computer and
the Internet in a unique way. He analyses the reasons of the success of the Microsoft company and
the iPhone. Then he explains many of our current technical barriers and bottlenecks using the
theory of generative and sterile. By using the examples like Wikipedia, Zittrain cleverly introduces
us the obstacles that may be encountered in the development of the Internet in the future and many
ethical issues such as network security and privacy. Focusing on these issues, the author voices his
concerns and gives some feasible suggestions.

The Post Classical Era
During the Post Classical Era, from 600 CE to 1450 CE, new empires rose through the
combination of aspects such as social structure and religion from the classical era and
globalization as well as expansion of religious and technological ideas from the modern era in
order to form the Post Classical Era. Trade took on new roles through connecting areas and
spreading goods, ideas, and disease. Ideas that were often spread was religion, such as Islam and
Buddhism, thus leading to global awareness and conflict. Though Post Classical Mesoamericawas
not included in the global trade route linking Eurasia and Africa, Mesoamerica still enjoyed its own

celebrate religion because of its combination with everyday life, however they began trading
because of the introduction of conquest, and developed farming techniques that played roles in
trade and religion.
During the Post Classical Era, civilizations in Mesoamerica continued to practice polytheism
because of its connection with everyday life. In contrast to the monotheistic gods of Eurasia and
Africa, Mesoamerica continued to worship multiple gods that represented natural phenomena
because of their lack of need for reform. Religion in Mesoamerica Empires such as the Inca, Aztec,

Roman Shades
As summer fades, the temperature outside starts to decrease on a seemingly daily basis. Soon,
warm sunshine gives way to cool crisp air and flurries of colorful leaves fill the yard. It s the

easiest changes you can make is new window treatments. Changing out lighter curtains, or blinds,

Roman shades can be made from fabric, textiles, bamboo and even wood, making them an

They do not require a toolbox full of tools, curtain rods, or hooks. In fact, the only tools needed are
a measuring tape, pencil and screwdriver. First, you will want to remove the current window
treatment and associated hardware. Next, measure the width of the window to determine
placement of the brackets. Use the pencil to mark the holes where screws will be. You ll then use
your screwdriver to drive the screws into place, being sure to keep the bracket straight. Insert the
shade into the bracket and enjoy your new window treatment.
Insulating Properties
Heavier roman shades are the best option for fall and winter, for obvious reasons. Many roman
shades are made using multiple layers of fabric and batting to create an insulated layer. They act
much like a blanket, keeping out cold air that permeates through glass and help to block drafts that
make their way through seams. Some have a white side and a darker side. The lighter side, when
facing outward, reflects sunlight in warmer months. The darker side, conversely, attracts the heat
from the sun, helping to heat your home in cooler times.

my skin is dark. Looking around in that convention center and seeing all those white faces at the

they were not interested in agriculture. Most of the answers given were stereotypes of this

Dutchman Play Analysis
Dutchman Dutchman written by Amiri Baraka is a perfect example of how race can play in
important part in how you are perceived. In this story a powerful middle aged white women tries
to seduce a younger aged African American man that presented himself as intelligent and well
dressed. This play was written during a time when our world was very closed minded about race
specifically with those who were of color. In the early 1960 s white was the major race and
white americans were who were superior to those of color. Later on in the 1960 s is when
African Americans started to fight for full and equal rights. They wanted to not be used or
treated as if they were not humans. Majority of African American families were lower class and
poor because that is how society viewed and valued them. If you were not white you did not
mean anything or have anything of value. Usually they were slaves for white families and were
told to do as they instructed. This provoked for the Civil Rights Movement. That eventually lead
to African Americans having the same privileges as Whites. Now many years later we would
think racism and discrimination does not happen but it does daily. Tying all this together was a
play called Dutchman. Which is a strong play that expresses race and how racism is the dominate
trait in the story and also stereotyping african americans. The narrator through out the play in
Dutchman deals with the issue of race by letting a white women talk and disrespect a black man.

How Spirited Away, The Emperor And The Assassin, And...
Three different movies set in three different times, yet they are united by one theme that is history.
This analysis will focus on how Spirited Away, The Emperor and the Assassin, and Journey to the
West: Conquering the Demons are part of a modern and ancient history that are still practiced
today. Even though these movies are a mixture of legends, fictions, and facts we can still appreciate
the meaning behind each story. Furthermore, this analysis will enhance East Asian s historical
meaning. Spirited Away is a Japanese movie created by a man that can be considered as one of the
greatest animators in history from many people around the world, Hayao Miyazaki. This movie
tells the adventurous story that Chihiro... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the film, we also observed that bowing is an important part of Japanese tradition. Kids learned
to bow from a very young age and they are taught the different kinds of bows. In Chihiro, we see
that her bowing varies according to the person she is meeting. For instance, when she meets
Kamaji, Zeniba and Yubaba her bows are deep and long. On the other hand, her bows towards
No face and the stick lamp are shorter and less deep. In this film, we can appreciate the
references made for new generations to appreciate and respect the culture they learned from
years. Even though this illustrated film shows fictional characters we can see how it connects
to modern Japan. The historical aspect of Japanese people is starting to fade like in the ending
of the movie when Haku learned by Chihiro that where he used to live people destroy the river to
construct apartment. Many of this Japanese tradition is being lost, according to Rachel Tackett in
an online article, spring of 2008 that number dropped to a mere 4,343, and it continues to
decrease at a rate of almost one a day. There simply aren t enough customers to support the
industry, not to mention that there are few young people prepared to take over the business if
traditions are lost and we are becoming a more globalized world how can we differentiate one from
another.

In 1965, Pepsi Co was created through a merger of two companies Pepsi Cola and Frito Lay by
Donald M. Kendall, President and Chief Executive Officer of Pepsi Cola and Herman W. Lay,
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Frito Lay. Pepsi was originally founded in 1898 by
Caleb Bradham, a New Bern, North Carolina, druggist, who first formulated Pepsi Cola. Today,
Pepsi is part of a portfolio of drinks that includes carbonated and non carbonated drinks such as
soft drinks, juices and juice drinks, ready to drink teas and coffee drinks, isotonic sports drinks,

Coca Cola is a much better balance sheet than Pepsico, even managing to have more cash on hand
than debt during much of this time frame (SeekingAlpha.com, 2012).
After comparing the two it is companies, I would recommend that Coca Cola is the better pick as
far as who to invest in if given the opportunity to invest in one or the other. Through analyzing the
many ratios and utilizing the components to accurately rationalize the status of the financial
stability of the two companies Coca Cola has proved to have a higher financial accountability.
There are many factors that brought me to this conclusion. Just look at the statements you can see
that Pepsi Co. has more liabilities than Coca Cola and that would generally be the case since Pepsi
Co. has monies invested in other products and Cola does not have any other involvements in other
products.

Argumentative Speech On Selfishness
Introduction A.Attention grabber: What if I told you kindness is our social connection to other
human beings? (rhetorical) B.Topic reveal: And when we are socially connected to others, we
are happier, healthier, and live longer lives. C.Credibility establishment: In an article entitled
Happiness for a lifetime published in the 2010 issue of the Greater Good Magazine, psychologist
Sonja Lyubomirsky discusses a key insight from her research conducted with colleagues Ken
Sheldon and Dave Schkade. 1. 50% of happiness is in our genes (a relatively small %), 40% in
behavior and daily activities, and 10% on lifestyle. 2. In one of the studies, they asked one group
of students to do all five of their acts of kindness in one single day (they felt one single day and a
small act would be more powerful), did succeed in making them happier, when the acts were
small and conducted that day, it was more powerful to be more concentrated Why might
kindness have these kinds of effects on our happiness? I believe that when you are kind and
generous to others, you start to see yourself as a generous person, so it s good for your self
perception. Plus, it helps you see yourself as interconnected to others, it makes you interpret other
people s behavior more charitably, and it relieves distress over other people s misfortune all things
that are good for happiness. D.Thesis Statement: (Main point preview): Random acts of kindness,

Innovation Of The Global Construction Market
Innovation in construction
Introduction
This chapter presents an overview of innovation in construction. It aims to critically review a set of
key theories in order to facilitate understanding and provide strategies to managing innovation in
construction practice.
Why is innovation in construction so important? The rapid development of the global construction
market provides more and more business opportunities for construction enterprises. However, the
unpredictable nature of the global construction market?s business environment requires contractors
to constantly improve their competitiveness to survive and prosper (Moohamm et al., 2014). In
reality, researchers and practitioners have found that innovation is motivated by competition ...

Innovation ? a theoretical background
The Issues of environmental sustainability have proven to be common originators of innovation.
Climate change and its effects on the environment and energy consumption have resulted in a
growing emphasis on corporate sustainability. Consequently, pressure to be more accountable for its
environmental impacts has been applied by clients, government, and other industry stakeholders
(Thorpe et al. 2008).
Various scholars have defined innovation from their respective backgrounds or perspectives,
because it has been very difficult to make a consensus of a single definition of innovation as a
concept (Moohamm et al., 2014). For example, Madewell (1986) and Slaughter (1998) described
innovation as the implementation of a process, system or product new to an organization, to
expedite reductions in cost and agenda and improvements in quality and safety, in order to improve
competitive advantage and increase the technical feasibility of projects thereby increasing market
share. Damanpour (1992) defined innovation as the adoption of an idea or behaviour that is new to
the adopting organization whether a system, policy, program, device, process, product or service.

  • 2. Romeo And Juliet 1996 Vs 1996 The Romeo and Juliet film adaptation that I preferred was Baz Luhrmann s 1996 adaptation. The two films, even though they were about the same story of star cross d lovers, were completely different. The 1996 version made the timeless classic, Romeo and Juliet, much more modern and relatable. The decision to depict Romeo and Juliet, in a bustling city was a daring move, but was still able to convey the theme that Shakespeare had intended nearly 400 years ago. The costumes in the 2013 version were much more realistic with peasants, kings, and townspeople being dressed, similarly to how they would have been dressed during Shakespeare s times. On the other hand, the characters in the 1996 version were dressed with t shirts and adorned with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Ethics Of The Ethical Systems The Ethical Systems In ethics, four systems serve as different beliefs concerning our morals: Relativism Ethics, Consequentialism Ethics, Deontological Ethics, and Virtue Ethics. These four theories attempt to define what right and wrong should be and how one should handle any situation. There are many strengths and weaknesses of each view. The goal is to determine which theory is the best by exploring real world situations and questioning the claims that just don t work out. RELATIVISM ETHICS There are two different types of relativistic views: Cultural Relativism and Subjectivism. Cultural Relativism is the belief that culture defines what is right and wrong. Subjectivism is the belief that the individual person decides what is right and wrong. Many pros and cons exist with an overall relativistic view. First, the positive: Someone with this view will obviously be very tolerant and is not likely to discriminate against a different culture or person. Also, morality depends on a social experience, instead of being derived from a higher being, morality is derived from the surrounding people. It is good to know the diversity and experience the many aspects of the world. Although this might sound like a perfect world for everyone to be tolerant and understanding of one another, there are many flaws to this theory. One flaw is that with this way of thinking, justice cannot exist. If someone committed murder, they cannot be punished because they believe murder is right, which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Inner Workings of Congress The inter workings of Congress have been studied extensively by Richard Fenno and David R. Mayhew. Mayhew s study of Congress took place in Washington, while Richard Fenno conducted his research by following politicians within their congressional district. Mayhew attributes three primary goals to congressmen getting reelected, achieving influence within Congress and making good Policy . Fenno also attributes three basic goals, having influence inside the House than other congressmen. Second, helping their constituents and thereby insuring their reelection, and lastly helping make good policy. The purpose of this paper is to research a member of Congress and to make a direct connection between his activity in Washington and his home district. The paper will answer whether the congressmen is a delegate or trustee. Are the actions a pursuit for reelection? Are the committee assignments a path for movement within the House or outside? What legislation has he/she sponsored or co sponsored and does it directly reflect his/her districts political view. And finally, do major industries and interest groups within his/she district affect the way he/she votes. Mayhew examines the congressmen activity in Washington that is useful to engage in for the purpose of reelection. The first activity is advertising, defined by making a conscious effort to disseminate one s name in a positive light among constituents to gain a favorable view. The pancreas is located behind the lower part of the stomach and is about the size of a hand (National Institute of Health, n.d.). Pancreatic cancer is a disease that targets the Pancreas. The chronic form can devastate and debilitate the patient this form is at higher risk of pancreatic cancer. The detection and treatment of these tumors can be difficult as medical imaging such as x rays, sonograms and MRI s don t always give an adequate depiction of the cancer the best way to see the pancreas is through surgery. There are over 100 kinds of Cancer, the term cancer is used to described a disease in which abnormal cells divide without control and can invade other tissues (Center for Disease Control and Prevention(CDC), 2016). Cancer cells do not die out naturally, once the cells start to grow; they metastasize forming new abnormal cells. In many cancer cases the abnormal cells collect and form tumors. They have also been known to grow in other tissues and spread all over the body which is referred to as seeding. Normal cells do not do this. • 6. Aquifer Depletion The High Plains Aquifer encompasses approximately 174,000 square miles and stretches from Texas to South Dakota (Fig. 1). This aquifer is also known as the Ogallala Aquifer due to the geologic formation that it lies above. The development of this aquifer along with glacial till produced through the retreat of glaciers during previous ice ages, has yielded a very productive region for farming. The High Plains Aquifer is a valuable natural resource for farmers within the area, but several factors have caused the depletion of this aquifer. Some of the factors that have caused the depletion include a slow rate of recharge, the overlying formation, and heavy pumping within the aquifer. For an aquifer to recharge quickly, the overlying formation must consist of a permeable and porous lithologic unit. These rock units will allow for water to easily pass through them and into the underlying aquifer for storage. Much of the sediment that makes up the aquifer consists of sand, silt, and gravel that were derived from runoff of the Rocky Mountains. Recharge is from precipitation, infiltration, and groundwaterflow through the porous and permeable overlying lithologic unit to the aquifer. The High Plains Aquifer is situated within a semiarid climate producing a slower rate of recharge. Much of the Ogallala is located within an... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 7. Girl Model And Documentary Argument Girl Model and Documentary as Argument Documentaries occupy a unique space in the film world. Not only must these films attempt to provide a perspective on reality, they must also engage the audience and provide a form of entertainment. In portraying reality, the films generally take on a specific perspective. Documentary filmmakers create a filmadvocating a specific point of view in order to create interest in the film and create a stronger film overall. Bill Nichols calls this the documentary s argument (165). He states, [I]n documentary, realism serves to make an argument about the historical world seem persuasive (Nichols 165). Throughout the film, the audience does view interactions between Nadya and Ashley and the people they work for, but there is very little emphasis placed on the other people depicted. There is some focus on Ashley s supervisors and employers, but the focus is often negative. At one point, the filmmaker includes an interview with Ashley where she mentions that she believes Messiah, the owner of one of the agencies she scouts for, continues his job because he engages in inappropriate relationships with the young models he recruits. Ashley states, [Messiah] loves models (Girl). She never openly states that Messiah has relationships with his models, but the implication is clear. Although this claim never goes farther, Ashley clearly connects the industry to the sex trade. Towards the end of the film, Ashley addresses this point in another interview. She claims that some models find themselves moving into prostitution. Ashley states that the girls already see themselves selling their body for the camera, so they do not find prostitution a stretch (Girl). Same Sex Marriage Is Not The Law Of The Land Decarrio Turner Professor Lee Comp Rhetoric 2 20 October 2014 Same Sex Marriage According to Dr. James Dobson, founder of Focus on the Family, If traditional marriage is not the law of the land, the institution of the family will cease to exist . Traditional marriage is a legal union of a man and woman as husband and wife. Inside the court rooms and outside, citizens of the United States battle out their differences between heterosexual and homosexual marriage; one reason for this is because the frequency of relationships involving same sex couples in our society is constantly growing. In America, citizens fight for equality every day and homosexual couples fight hard for the same rights as heterosexual couples when it comes to marriage. Should there be equal rights between the two heterosexual and homosexual couples? I believe that citizens of the same sex that are able to wed should not have the same rights as citizens that undergo heterosexual marriage; because it doesn t correlate with my religious beliefs, it s more beneficial for children to be brought up with both the father and mother in their lives, and also, letting gay couples get married will lead to a weak institution of marriage. Homosexual couples are fighting for justice within the courtrooms. Tolkien, is a children s fantasy novel (though the series The Lord of the Rings that followed its story was more tuned to adults) that was first published in 1937. When it was first released, it received critical acclaim from millions of readers, and it was eventually nominated for the Carnegie Medal and won Best Juvenile Fiction from the New York Herald Tribune. However, despite its success, the most enduring trait of the novel is its connection with readers throughout generations that has inspired countless authors and readers. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... William Morris, who was a 19th century English poet, translator, and creative genius, was a significant figure to Tolkien. In fact, Tolkien desired to write more in Morris romantic style. In particular, a chapter named The Desolation of Smaug was directly influenced by Morris style and ideas (The Letters of J.R.R. Tolkien). Another writer that left an impression on Tolkien was Samuel Rutherford Crockett. His historical novel The Black Douglas and its villain Gilles de Retz inspired The Hobbit s evil character Sauron. It is said the narrative style and even the events in both The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings were influenced by The Black Douglas (Lobdell, Jared C.). The goblins within The Hobbit are closely associated with the goblins in the novel The Princess and the Goblin by George MacDonald. In addition, MacDonald impressed upon Tolkien the role of fantasy in the context of Christianity (J. R. R. Tolkien Encyclopedia: Scholarship and Critical Assessment). Another key influence on The Hobbit is Tolkien s adoration of Norse mythology and Germanic philology. Not only are many myths from Norse mythology adapted into The Hobbit, the names of the characters have a distinct Old Norse feel to them (Rateliff, John D.). And speaking of characters, the dwarves were modeled after ancient Jewish people and their history (Rateliff, John D.). Last but not least, the epic Beowulf was the main inspiration behind the world Tolkien wanted to create. As Tolkien was a respected scholar of Beowulf, The Hobbit was in part a tribute to the epic and a reworking of it (Purtill, Richard ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As a result of entering an overseas market, NOC Ltd might encounter foreign exchange risks as all their orders are in Euros therefore, resulting in NOC Ltd s products being more expensive in the foreign currency. Populism explains the rise of Populism in 1890 across Kansas as a response to the frustrations of adapting crop selections and pest management routines to the sub humid environment. Farmers raised hell in the fall of 1890, in part, because they had not yet formed the farm management skills that could have prevented such a collapse of operating income. If Populist voters were choked by monopoly power, the party should have done significantly worse in those townships served by several competing railroad lines; but if Populist voters were motivated by a dispirited hunt for capital gains on land through nearness to railway improvements, Populist candidates should have prospered as they moved farthest away from a rail station. Therefore, if Populist voters were motivated simply by bitterness over the fact that their township did not have a rail station then Populist candidates should have done better in a township with no railway station at all. What was most important was 1) whether a township had a railroad station and 2) how far the average farmer had to travel to reach a railhead. The farmer s response to crop failures, insect damage, and the realization that a township might never get a railway station varied. Memory is a lot like a large array but rather than using the term index to indicate specific locations in memory; we use the term address . Each address stores one element at the level of the byte (Curran, 2006). Although some data types exceed 1 byte; they can be assigned to span more than a single byte to accommodate larger values. Within a byte the value is determined by checking the bits right to left. This means that the right most $#$#0$#$# can be o or 1 value and any bits towards the left indicate a higher value. This play was written during a time when our world was very closed minded about race specifically with those who were of color. In the early 1960 s white was the major race and white americans were who were superior to those of color. Later on in the 1960 s is when African Americans started to fight for full and equal rights. They wanted to not be used or treated as if they were not humans. Majority of African American families were lower class and poor because that is how society viewed and valued them. If you were not white you did not mean anything or have anything of value. Usually they were slaves for white families and were told to do as they instructed. This provoked for the Civil Rights Movement. That eventually lead to African Americans having the same privileges as Whites. Now many years later we would think racism and discrimination does not happen but it does daily. Tying all this together was a play called Dutchman. Which is a strong play that expresses race and how racism is the dominate trait in the story and also stereotyping african americans. The narrator through out the play in Dutchman deals with the issue of race by letting a white women talk and disrespect a black man. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Kids learned to bow from a very young age and they are taught the different kinds of bows. In Chihiro, we see that her bowing varies according to the person she is meeting. For instance, when she meets Kamaji, Zeniba and Yubaba her bows are deep and long. On the other hand, her bows towards No face and the stick lamp are shorter and less deep. In this film, we can appreciate the references made for new generations to appreciate and respect the culture they learned from years. Even though this illustrated film shows fictional characters we can see how it connects to modern Japan. The historical aspect of Japanese people is starting to fade like in the ending of the movie when Haku learned by Chihiro that where he used to live people destroy the river to construct apartment. Many of this Japanese tradition is being lost, according to Rachel Tackett in an online article, spring of 2008 that number dropped to a mere 4,343, and it continues to decrease at a rate of almost one a day. There simply aren t enough customers to support the industry, not to mention that there are few young people prepared to take over the business if traditions are lost and we are becoming a more globalized world how can we differentiate one from another. ... After comparing the two it is companies, I would recommend that Coca Cola is the better pick as far as who to invest in if given the opportunity to invest in one or the other. Through analyzing the many ratios and utilizing the components to accurately rationalize the status of the financial stability of the two companies Coca Cola has proved to have a higher financial accountability. There are many factors that brought me to this conclusion. Innovation ? a theoretical background The Issues of environmental sustainability have proven to be common originators of innovation. Climate change and its effects on the environment and energy consumption have resulted in a growing emphasis on corporate sustainability. Consequently, pressure to be more accountable for its environmental impacts has been applied by clients, government, and other industry stakeholders (Thorpe et al. 2008). Various scholars have defined innovation from their respective backgrounds or perspectives, because it has been very difficult to make a consensus of a single definition of innovation as a concept (Moohamm et al., 2014).
