Egbert Roscoe Murrow Essay
Egbert Roscoe Murrow, an American broadcast journalist, was born on April 25, 1908. The youngest
of three brothers, was raised in Guilford County, North Carolina where they lived on a farm until the
age of 6 only bringing a few hundred dollars a year from corn and hay. The Murrow family lived
without the amenities today that we could not imagine life without, electricity and plumbing. After
turning 6, Egbert and his family moved across the country to Skagit County, Washington. Skagit
county was only 30 miles south of the Canadian border and he attended school nearby in Edison
where he excelled greatly in basketball, winning a championship and was president of the student

for his ability to give such great war reports. Murrow returned to the United States again in 1941. A
dinner was held in his honor and Franklin D. Roosevelt sent him a welcome back telegram which was
read at the dinner. He was mostly recognized by a speech from the Librarian of Congress for his
power and intimacy of wartime dispatches. Only a week after this speech the attack on Pearl Harbor
occurred. Murrow brought in several different combat missions to give additional reports to later
broadcast. Murrow learned skills while majoring in Speech in college on how to improvise vivid
descriptions and was able to broadcast a well descripted announcement of what was going on. Murrow
so closely worked with the British and was offered a job by Winston Churchill to be in charge of
programming. This job was declined by Murrow but led him to meet Churchill s daughter in law,

The Is The Moral Aspects Of Society And Risk Taking
The uniquely American attributes as seen in the novel The Catcher in the Rye, by J.D. Salinger are the
moral aspects of society and risk taking . The author s use of theme and characterization are a clear
and accurate testimony to this. Some general American traits include not waiting to be introduced, but
beginning able to speak to strangers as they stand in a queue ( American Society and Culture ). In
general, Americans like personal space and have a strong believe of freedom of choice ( 101
characteristics of Americans ). A famous journalist named Joseph Pulitzer coined the idea of
exceptionalism in America. Pulitzer, who was not born in America, came to the United States for work
and eventually took the risk of going to the army. He came from nothing and built his own empire in
the United States, making millions before he died ( Joseph Pulitzer Wiki bio ) . Pulitzer was not a
native born American and his fourth language was English. When he came to the United States he
assimilated in the culture and experienced the American Dream . He is a perfect example that anything
is possible ( Joseph Pulitzer biography ).
The novel The Catcher in the Rye was written in the 1950s. The author of the book, J.D. Salinger,
served for his country in WWII from 1942 1944. Even after Salinger flunked out of school many
times, he kept trying again and again. Salinger is an influential 20th century writer. After the

Analysis Of The Funerary Stele Of Amenemhat I
The title of this artwork is the Funerary Stele of Amenemhat I and was created by an unknown
Egyptian artist from the 11th dynasty. This artwork was completed around 2000 B.C. The size of this
artwork is 11 x 15 and it is located in the Brooklyn Museum of Art. The medium of Funerary Stele of
Amenemhat I is limestone. In the artwork, the concept of contour lines is used to draw the objects
such as the table and Egyptians. The lines are black and thin, somewhat showing definition to the art
piece. The majority of the color scheme in the positive includes neutral colors. Warm tones with tan to
dark brown shades are incorporated into the skin tones of the Egyptians. The color green is also used
in the artwork which complements the color ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The element of art being most emphasized is color. There is a contrast in the artwork in the negative,
The wall has cool and high key tones which contrast with the Egyptians and food that has warm and
neutral colors. Although the artwork is not symmetrical, the light green color shown in the small
details such as the carvings on the wall, necklaces, and food contribute a balance of colors within the
artwork. In the artwork, there is a variation of curved lines and shapes that also bring the piece
together. For examples, the lines are curvacious on the elbows, shoulders, and necklaces of the
Egyptians and the objects around them. There are rhythm and pattern shown through the lines and
shapes because most of the art piece has a bulbous form like the rounding of the shoulders or the
circular shape of the heads. The art piece also seems to be scratchy because of the chips in the stone
and the edges of the stone have faded limestone. The two men sitting and facing each other have a
contrast of color to the rest of the art piece making them emerge into a more noticeable figure than the
rest.
The title Funerary Stele of Amenemhat I is from the Middle Kingdom. Funerary is a magical offering
formula to provide deceased ones with necessary offerings in the afterlife. Stela is a slab of stone,
wood or any other material that bear an inscription and Amenemhat means Amun is the foremost.

Marilyn and Len Exchanges, Essay
Using the Marilyn and Len exchanges, analyze the following:
What are the objectives of both parties in the exchanges?
The objectives of both parties in these particular exchanges are to obtain the best accounts available to
their teams to maximize profit for the company and commissions for their staff. As well as, to get their
points across but they are both looking out for the best interest of their groups. On one side, Marilyn
would like to share accounts rather than being left with bad accounts with no potential, while Len
would like to work on accounts that will generate a high commission.
How would you describe the general tone of the exchanges?
The tone of the exchanges seems to be a bit modest and slightly hostile. In the ... Show more content

The projected outcome for the first exchange is that Len and Marilyn stay at a deadlock with no real
development being made. However, if I had to pick a winner, I think that the outcome of the first
exchange would have been 80 percent in Len s favor, he was using almost any tactic he could in order
to get his way, which was not allowing Marilyn to argue her part of the negotiation. It was more or
less a no win situation for her.
Were Marilyn s objectives on the way to being effectuated in the second exchange?
Yes, Marilyn was able to stand her ground and argue her points in the second exchange. She diverted
Len s responses and enforced her objectives rationally. For example, she seem far more comfortable in
probing comments about her team being unskilled by reminding Len that they are former members of
his team and trained by him. She also corrected Len when he tried to say that the boss was aware his
decision, when in reality he had already approved Marilyn s position.
Were Len s objectives on the way to being effectuated in the second exchange?
No, in the 2nd exchange Len was still hostile and evasive about his obligation to turn over the viable
accounts he promised. He was being heard by Marilyn, but his points were being challenge.
What do you project the outcome of the second exchange to be?
I think Len will be forced to turn over the accounts he promised and the negotiation probably want
end in his favor. Marilyn is

A tribute to Patsy Cline
A tribute to Patsy Cline with Mandy Barnett and the Nashville Symphony On November fourteenth at
eight o clock p.m. I attended a Patsy Cline tribute concert featuring Mandy Barnett and the Nashville
Symphony with my grandparents. On that particular Friday night, it had been raining for most of the
day. My grandparents came and picked me up at five o clock in hopes of going to a nice dinner before
the show. Once we got on the road, it was clear that our itinerary was not going to work out as we had
planned it to. There was wreck after wreck, leaving most of the interstates backed up and some closed
until late that night. We had to turn around and drive through Mount Juliet to make it to the concert

The partricular piece is very upbeat and outgoing. As the music continues the song continues to grow
faster resulting in a vibrant folk dance. The Nashville symphony did a great job performing this piece
and portraying the light heartedness and fun that Enesco intended. The next work that the Nashville
symphony performed was George Gershwin s, Rhapsody in Blue. This rhapsody combines classical
music with some jazz infuences. The score for this calls for one flute, one oboe, one clarinet in E flat,
one clarinet in B flat, one bass clarinet in B flat, one heckelphone, one sporanino saxaphone in E flat,
one soprano saxaphone in B flat, one alto saxaphone in E flat, one tenor saxaphone in B flat, and one
baratone saxaphone in E flat for the woodwins. For the brass, it called for two horns, two trumpets,
two flugelhorns, euphonium, three trombones, and one tuba. On percussion it called for, one set of
drums, one timpani set, and a trap set. Keyboards called for, two painos, one celesta, and one
accordian. Finally, on strings, a banjo, violins, and string basses were played. Rhapsody in Blue is
considered one of the top one hundred most influencial songs. The song paints a picture of a busy, fast
paced city, which many people can relate to in today s society. Still today Rhapsody in Blue is one of
the top twenty five most played songs. George Gershwin created a timeless piece that will be
performed around the world for many years to come. The

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission ( Nrc )
A persistent state of stagnation has plagued the creation of low level nuclear waste disposal sites for
nearly three decades. To date, there are only four licensed facilities capable of accepting, storing, and
disposing low level waste in the United States (NRC 2015a). As an independent agency created by
Congress in 1974, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) regulates the creation and
management of commercial low level waste sites through licensing, inspection, and enforcement of its
requirements. Due to the apparent lack of new disposal sites, a closer analysis of the NRC s licensing
requirements is needed. Is the current policy conducive to expansionary facilities in other parts of the
nation? Are the technical and financial requirements established by the NRC for commercial facilities
too steep to allow the creation of new facilities, creating a natural monopoly? In addressing these
issues, the following analysis examines the NRC s current policy compared to proposed alternatives
using empirical and theoretical analyses. Finally, the goal and the final policy recommendation of this
analysis is ultimately in line with the NRC s overarching strategic values: safety and security.
Case Description The definition of low level waste is negative. Meaning, commercial radioactive
wastes that do not fall under the category for high level wastes, or uranium and thorium milling
wastes, are classified as low level radioactive waste (NRC 2015c). The low level wastes can

Was Magellan Worth Defending Research Paper
Was Magellan worth defending? There is a lot of controversy about Magellan. Some people believe
Magellan should was not worth defending, while others believe he should have been defended.
Magellan went to Spain to get his crew and get someone to fund his voyage. Magellan was a captain
of five ships. He died in the Philippine islands in a hand to hand combat with native Americans. When
people ask was Magellan worth defending it means that did Magellan deserve to get saved. I believe
that Magellan should have been saved and was worth defending, because he was firm not cruel, he
was a really good navigator, and he died for his beliefs. Magellan was firm not cruel. According to the

Age Of Enlightenment Vs Life Today
Age of enlightenment vs life today
Introduction
There are various eras that have been in existence since the beginning of the world. One of these
famous eras is the age of enlightenment also referred to as the age of reason or simply the
enlightenment. Age of enlightenment refers to the time that guided intellectual movements known as
The Enlightenment. We can say that in the world today, there still exists some form of enlightenment
that is going on. The enlightenment today comes from a new practices and understandings that have
been embraced in the social sector. There are some similarities and differences between the age of
enlightenment and the life today. The paper will look at how these two compare in terms of their
similarities and differences. From the comparison, there can be conclusions made on the relevance of
the enlightenment age and the life today.
Thesis
How the age of enlightenment compares to life today.
The age of enlightenment; definition and time frame The term enlightenment in English fully came
out in the 19th century later parts. There has been little consensus on the exact beginning of this age of
enlightenment whether it is at the beginning of the 18th century which is 1701 or at the middle of the
17th century which is 1650. Therefore, it is approximated that the age of enlightenment started in
1650s and went through 1780s (Wellesz, and Frederick 489). It is during this age that the intellectual
and cultural forces within Western Europe put an

Hyperthermia And Chemotherapy Essay
The use of electromagnetic waves in therapeutic applications has existed for many decades.
Nowadays, the therapies that use non ionising radiation and are available for clinical use lie on the
thermal effects of low frequency electromagnetic waves, from radio frequencies to optical frequencies.
Hyperthermia and thermal ablation are currently used to treat various types of cancers, either by
killing the cancerous cells or by locally and selectively enhancing the efficiency of chemotherapeutic
drugs and radiation treatment. Hyperthermia treatment elevates the tissue temperature between 40 °C
and 45 °C, for altering the functional and structural properties of enzymatic proteins that make tumour
more sensitive to radiation and chemotherapy. Thermal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the complexity and heterogeneity of human brain structure and mechanisms, such as nerve
stimulation, blood circulation and homeostasis, complicates the effort for predicting the temperature
rise and distribution generated by one or multiple electromagnetic sources inside the brain tissue.
Nevertheless, it is of high importance to monitor and control the temperature changes during these
procedures in order to minimise the severe side effects of elevated brain temperatures for long
durations. To this end, non invasive techniques that exhibit enhanced sensitivity and specificity
thermometric are required for spatial and real time temperature monitoring.
Nanotechnology offers enhanced localisation of treatment delivery to brain diseased sites, including
hyperthermia, thermal ablation, as well as chemotherapeutic drug delivery and gene therapy. The
procedure may also be monitored with various ionising or non ionising imaging modalities.
Theranostics is an emerging medical field that uses nanoparticles for combining diagnosis and
treatment on a single nanoscale platform.
In this paragraph, multimodal systems for thermal electromagnetic treatments and real time
temperature monitoring and/or visualisation of the anatomical area of interest are presented
emphasising microwave technology. Additionally, novel approaches for combined therapy and
diagnosis using non ionising radiation in a nanoscale level are presented in the last

This market may provide quite a lot of potentials and profit for the company, but it has suffered a lot
in exploiting the market efficiently. Moreover, the closure of small retail shops, the opening of larger
shops and the closure of inefficient large shops may not only provoke increasing costs but also makes
employees afraid of losing their jobs, which creates an overall bad reputation of the company and thus
an possible reduction of sales. Another matter that should be analyzed and improved is the supply
chain. Solution to the mentioned problems The company should conduct a consumer survey among its
key/traditional/principal/loyal customers to meet their needs. It should focus on their core
competences, which is the design, manufacturing and retail of traditional clothes, accessories and
home furnishings and franchising and licensing. Thus they are able to formulate a mission which
signals a clear and straight message towards traditional design. In this way the loyal customers but
also new customers may have more trust in the product and (continue) buying from the company,
which would provoke an increase in sales. Maybe it would be wise to outsource some of the clothing
manufacturing to a subcontracting firm to save costs but to keep control over this subcontracting firm.

The Death Of Andrew Dickinson And Andrew Jackson Kills
Jackson and Dickinson were rival horse breeders and southern plantation owners with a long standing
hatred of each other. Dickinson accused Jackson of reneging on a horse bet, calling Jackson a coward
and an equivocator. Dickinson also called Rachel Jackson a bigamist. (Rachel had married Jackson not
knowing her first husband had failed to finalize their divorce.) After the insult to Rachel and a
statement published in the National Review in which Dickinson called Jackson a worthless scoundrel
and, again, a coward, Jackson challenged Dickinson to a duel.
On May 30, 1806, Jackson and Dickinson met at Harrison s Mills on the Red River in Logan,
Kentucky. At the first signal from their seconds, Dickinson fired. Jackson received Dickinson s first
bullet in the chest next to his heart. Jackson put his hand over the wound to staunch the flow of blood
and stayed standing long enough to fire his gun. Dickinson s seconds claimed Jackson s first shot
misfired, which would have meant the duel was over, but, in a breach of etiquette, Jackson re cocked
the gun and shot again, this time killing his opponent. Although Jackson recovered, he suffered
chronic pain from the wound for the remainder of his life ( Andrew Jackson Kills ). Andrew Jackson
was well known for his hot temper and his reckless ways. He was an honorbound man who was quick
to take offence, especially with any slur against his wife, he was the beloved war hero, and the

Sports Controversy
I think participating in sports deffently has a positive effect on children and teens. One of the very
many reasons, is that kids will learn a lot from being on a competitive team. They will learn about
rules, sportsmenship, obidence, and teamwork. Most kids love sports, and when they are younger they
will do anything to join with there friends. They get to seek out what sport they love most, and
participate in it until there senior year in high school or college. Seeing the downside to sports I guess
you can say is easy. Like not having enough time for homework, school, friends and family. Parents
can argue on that fact for hours, but I guess it all really depends on the child. If a kids friends are

Copyright Laws Over Creative Works
Copyright is a federally protected part of intellectual property that automatically regulates creative
works of authors. Copyright laws began approximately around the 15th century in Europe. The cause
for such regulations stems from infringement of creative works. These works fall into one of three
main categories; music, visual works, and literary works. Copyright infringement highlights the need
for copyright laws over creative works in music, art and writing, resulting in an ever changing
copyright landscape. Title 17 of the United States Code outlines what does not fall into any of these
three categories, and therefore cannot be protected under copyright. It is also important to note that not

Upon creation of a creative work, copyright protection is automatically awarded (Moser, 2012, p.5).
According to Lau et al., copyright lasts for seventy years after the death of the author(s) and for a
corporation, ninety five years after being published or one hundred twenty years from the creation
date depending on which is sooner. Article I, Section 8 of the United States Constitution, or Copyright
Clause, and Title 17 of the United States Code also work to protect copyrights at the federal level. As
stated by Congress, the Copyright Clause encourages the Progress of Science and useful Arts, by
securing for limited Times to Authors and Inventors the exclusive Right (Lau, 2014). As stated in Title
17 § 1 102, works outside of the works of authorship categories are not copyrightable. Public domain
is one of these categories, Lau et al. describes it as any intellectual property not protected by law and
feely available for any member of the public to use (2014). After a copyright of a work has expired it
becomes part of the public domain as well. Sound recordings are another example of an un
copyrightable works that result from the fixation of a series of musical, spoken, or other sounds, but
not including the sounds accompanying a motion picture or other audiovisual work, regardless of the
nature of the material objects, such as disks, tapes, or other phonorecords, in which they are embodied
(17, § 1 101 ). Ideas cannot be copyright protected because

Cool dryness has the same dry symptoms as warm dryness, except now it also exhibits fever, chills,
headache, and other cold symptoms. The main difference between cold, and cool dryness is that the
person will show more signs of dryness. Dryness enters the body with other climactic elements, so it
can be more dangerous than the other 6 elements because of its ability to combine its power (Gao 42
50). Internal dryness is caused by loss of blood and other body fluids. Internal dryness usually occurs
after a person has been sick with a disease that caused them to vomit or to have diarrhea. It can also
occur after a great loss of blood or sweat. To much sexual activity can also result in internal dryness
(Gascoigne 67 9). Summer heat is the only one of the 6 influences that only occurs during one season,
in this case, the summer. Summer heat is caused solely by the extreme heat that can occur in the
summer time. The symptoms are very similar to those of heat, but summer heat can also be contracted
with dampness. Humidity and rain are common in China during the summer, so a person could exhibit
symptoms such as fever, flushed face, achy joints, nausea, and fatigue at the same time (Gao 52 4).
Other than six pernicious influences, disease can also be caused as a result of your emotions and your
diet (Gascoigne 62). Well now that I had learned about the causes of disease, according to

Analysis Of Of Mice And Men And Death Of A Salesman
Julia Savu
Coursework question:
How does the writer Of Mice And Men and Death Of A Salesman present the theme of hopelessness
and failure of the American Dream? American Dream: Every women and men should have the
opportunity to achieve their goals and their dreams, no matter of their social class or their ability.
Hopelessness: Having dreams/goals but knowing there s a small chance of them being accomplished
in future.
The writers of the books Of Mice And Men and Death Of A Salesman have a certain use of
words/phrases that demonstrate a clear use of the themes hopelessness and failure of the American
Dream .
To begin with, John Steinbeck has used the following quote: I could live so easy have a girl maybe .
This quote presents how one of the main characters George is feeling hopeless about his dreams as he
knows that taking care of Lennie would mean his dreams will be hard to achieve as it is a big
responsibility to be with Lennie due to his mental difficulties. Furthermore, the writer has used the
phrase: I could live so easy if I didn t have you on my tail gives us a clear suggestion that George is

Physician Assistants Or Pas Generally Practice Medicine...
Physician assistants or PAs generally practice medicine under a physician or surgeon s direction. PAs
are trained to do physical examinations, provide some treatment, and diagnose illnesses and injuries.
They can also order x rays and other laboratory tests, prescribe medications to patients, and treat small
injuries which could include casting, suturing, and splinting. Many physician assistants work in
primary care areas like pediatrics, internal medicine, and family medicine. Some even specialize in
general surgery, orthopedics, geriatrics, and emergency medicine. PAs are an important part of the
health care system and they have come a long way over time. The first program for physician
assistants was created in 1965 at Duke University (History of the Profession, 2014). This educational
program was created due to a misdistribution of physicians and to address the issues of health care
delivery at the time. Dr. Eugene Stead, who was the chairman of the Department of Medicine at Duke
University, established the two year program while working on a new curriculum for undergraduates
that were studying medical education. The two year program was designed to train physician
assistants on how to provide proper medical care to the less fortunate, underserved populations under
direct physician supervision. The first physician assistants were mainly composed of military
corpsmen and medics. They had previous knowledge and experiences from working in the military so
it was easier

Gender Relations In English Literature
Literature has a great connection with the construction of gender relations in society in a particular
period written. Gender relations presented in works of literature vary from one period to another.
However, at the same time, the relations have similar bases but the ways they are approached by the
authors are different. English literature has introduced several gender relations in its literary works
from the Elizabethan period to the modernism era. English authors challenged gender relations to
express their perceptions of genders through their work of literature. The representation of male and
female relations in English Literature influence the prevailing attitudes towards genders and reflect the

The sonnet goes on about talking how real love is more sincere than the representation of woman s
physical appearance as perfection. Beauty fades away in time, and Shakespeare is curious about his
mistress s personality and character that caused him to truly love her. Shakespeare claims that his
lover doesn t represent a perfect beauty: My mistress eyes are nothing like the sun /If hairs be wires,
black wires grow on her head (1,3). His comparisons are undesirable and unemotional, but afterward,
he proves that his mistress outstands any goddess with a perfect appearance. I grant I never saw a
goddess go;/ My mistress when she walks treads on the ground. (11 12). In these two lines,
Shakespeare is stating the facts and is being straightforward. He proves to us that her lover is nothing
like a goddess, she doesn t have any extraordinary skills, she just walks like a normal human being.
Shakespeare s relationship with his mistress is deeper than a physical appearance. He portrays the
woman in a realistic way. He doesn t use positive terms to praise her, but he uses simple expressions to
show the reality of his love. If snow be white, why then her breasts are dun; (3) in this line

Romeo And Juliet Love
Ever since Romeo and Juliet was written, people have debated whether it was written to be a love
story or a tragedy. The play is centered around a romantic relationship, which may cause some to
believe it to be a love story. However, Romeo and Juliet show tragic themes as well as themes of love.
This play can be considered both, but even so, it shows more elements of being a tragedy than a love
story. In the just prologue alone, the play establishes the fate of our main characters, Romeo and Juliet.
The sentences, A pair of star cross d lovers take their life;/Whose misadventured piteous

The speakers in Marlowe s Passionate Shepherd and Raleigh s The Nymph s Reply have different
views of love. The shepherd believes that love is a pleasurable emotion that should only be
experienced in nature. This concept of love is illustrated in the verses Come live with me and be my
love/And we will all the pleasures prove/That valleys, groves, hills, and fields,/Woods, or steepy

and it will never die. On the contrary, the Nymph replies to the Shepherd was that love will eventually
die because everything does and love is no different. That love can t stay young because if it were, that
would mean that everything in the world would live forever and the world wouldn t function that way.
Her reply to the Shepherd in Raleigh s story was If all the world and love were young/And the truth in
every shepherd s tongue/These pretty pleasures might me move/To live with thee, and be thy love.

Jesus s Love Through Servant Leadership And Compassion...

Relational Dynamics
Mr. Bauer
December 8, 2015
Jesus Love Jesus expresses love through servant leadership and compassion for others. He heals others
and makes sure to lead by example, and serve his followers. He expresses all types of love except for
eros.
Love by definition is an emotion explored in philosophy, religion, and literature, often as either
romantic love, the fraternal love of others, or the love of God. As I explored the definition by means of
the Internet, books, and articles I noticed the definitions changed quite a bit, but yet had the same
basic understanding. The definition I found in was probably the most simple and most basic. It refers
to love in the whole aspect, which is Godly, fraternal, and romantic. All in which can only be defined
by one word and that it love.
The definitions of love are the same and yet different. Godly, for instance is the love of God, and your
devotion and respect toward him, the creator. In all religion, god carries the same aspect. Fraternal
love is the love of ones family and relatives, even the love of one who is close to you, in that respect,
such as a friend. Then there s romantic love; a love between two people, which I consider to be both
intimate and sexual. Older dictionaries and encyclopedias usually refer to the romantic aspect of love,
as the love in which is experience between man and woman. In today s society it is said that romantic
love can be found regardless of your gender and based on

Public Private Divide Structure The Priorities Of Human...
Public private divide structure the priorities of human rights issues in Afghanistan. The private sphere
is traditional and immune to outside interferences. The public sphere is subject to interference from
the outsiders. The United States government, like many other governments, most always has a hidden
agenda when they choose what issues to privatize and what issues to publicize. American troops tend
to ignore private issues such as domestic abuse and women s education in Afghanistan because these
issues are seen as private issues; however, when there is something to gain from interfering it becomes
a public issue. Sharbat Gula is a young Afghan girl who for seventeen years was only a picture,
lacking a name and a story in the American media. Seventeen years later the photographer, Steve
McCurry, returned searching for this young girl to publicize her previous unimportant story. He
returned to publicize the violation to women s right to education in Afghanistan. The hidden agenda
was to show the American people that Afghan women needed saving from their culture and society.
Yet, there was no mention that the war that the United States is a part of is what ruined these women s
futures. The United States troops in Afghanistan rescued a brutally tortured and abused Afghan
woman named Aisha Bibi after she was left to die in the mountains by the Taliban. At first glance the
American audience see the American troops as heroes, however, when closely analyzed a hidden

The Justification of Reverse Discrimination in Hiring Essay
In The Justification of Reverse Discrimination in Hiring, Tom Beauchamp displays statistics of
underrepresented races and genders in institutions. The inequality is due to the underlying persistent
racism originating decades ago. It has been pervasively executed despite federal laws for equality. The
expectation for a level playing field is not a reality, as statistically show with underrepresented African
Americans (1. Beauchamp, CC2011, p 0228). Beauchamp points out that at first sight, reverse
discrimination appears immoral, because it crafts a prejudice for one race over another. However, he
asserts that this inference is not applicable in the real world where ubiquitous prejudice still exists as
indicated by statistics. Because we ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is an overrepresentation of minorities in inferior schools, living in a crime infested city, and
lacking family support (4. Rachels, CC2011, p 0203). If a minority with disadvantages reaches the
same qualifications as an advantaged Caucasian, the minority is more deserving, indicative of the
increased effort needed to put in. Fairness is a necessary condition in Rachels argument and minorities
that are qualified for institutions are generalized to have put in more sweat. In some cases when this
generalization is true, preferential treatment is considered fair. To establish a level playing field,
Beauchamp suggests a policy of strong affirmative action. This includes quotas to be implemented and
supported by government sanctions in a timely manner. Commitment to quotas will statistically show
progress towards a society built on equality. Beauchamp believes that laws are ineffectively
implemented and it is unclear to tell if institutions are intentionally discriminating unless numbers are
available (5. Beauchamp, CC2011, p 0230). Beauchamp s policy is an argument where the end result
morally justifies the method to get there. However, Rachels suggests a moderate form of reverse
discrimination where in a pool of equally qualified candidates, those challenged by unearned
disadvantages get preference. This consequentialist argument suggests that young minorities do not
have role models or mentors to emulate.

Sherwood Anderson s Society As An Outsiders
In Sherwood Anderson s Hands, and William Faulkner s A Rose for Emily, both authors introduced
main characters who are alienated in their respective societies. In Anderson s work, Wing Biddlebaum

the people s eyes on them. There are a variety of people in our society and divide into two main

Some general American traits include not waiting to be introduced, but beginning able to speak to strangers as they stand in a queue ( American Society and Culture ). In general, Americans like personal space and have a strong believe of freedom of choice ( 101 characteristics of Americans ). A famous journalist named Joseph Pulitzer coined the idea of exceptionalism in America. • 4. Analysis Of The Funerary Stele Of Amenemhat I The title of this artwork is the Funerary Stele of Amenemhat I and was created by an unknown Egyptian artist from the 11th dynasty. This artwork was completed around 2000 B.C. The size of this artwork is 11 x 15 and it is located in the Brooklyn Museum of Art. The medium of Funerary Stele of Amenemhat I is limestone. In the artwork, the concept of contour lines is used to draw the objects such as the table and Egyptians. The lines are black and thin, somewhat showing definition to the art piece. The majority of the color scheme in the positive includes neutral colors. Warm tones with tan to dark brown shades are incorporated into the skin tones of the Egyptians. The color green is also used in the artwork which complements the color ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The element of art being most emphasized is color. There is a contrast in the artwork in the negative, The wall has cool and high key tones which contrast with the Egyptians and food that has warm and neutral colors. Although the artwork is not symmetrical, the light green color shown in the small details such as the carvings on the wall, necklaces, and food contribute a balance of colors within the artwork. In the artwork, there is a variation of curved lines and shapes that also bring the piece together. For examples, the lines are curvacious on the elbows, shoulders, and necklaces of the Egyptians and the objects around them. There are rhythm and pattern shown through the lines and shapes because most of the art piece has a bulbous form like the rounding of the shoulders or the circular shape of the heads. The art piece also seems to be scratchy because of the chips in the stone and the edges of the stone have faded limestone. The two men sitting and facing each other have a contrast of color to the rest of the art piece making them emerge into a more noticeable figure than the rest. The title Funerary Stele of Amenemhat I is from the Middle Kingdom. Funerary is a magical offering formula to provide deceased ones with necessary offerings in the afterlife. • 5. Marilyn and Len Exchanges, Essay Using the Marilyn and Len exchanges, analyze the following: What are the objectives of both parties in the exchanges? The objectives of both parties in these particular exchanges are to obtain the best accounts available to their teams to maximize profit for the company and commissions for their staff. As well as, to get their points across but they are both looking out for the best interest of their groups. On one side, Marilyn would like to share accounts rather than being left with bad accounts with no potential, while Len would like to work on accounts that will generate a high commission. How would you describe the general tone of the exchanges? The tone of the exchanges seems to be a bit modest and slightly hostile. In the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The projected outcome for the first exchange is that Len and Marilyn stay at a deadlock with no real development being made. However, if I had to pick a winner, I think that the outcome of the first exchange would have been 80 percent in Len s favor, he was using almost any tactic he could in order to get his way, which was not allowing Marilyn to argue her part of the negotiation. It was more or less a no win situation for her. Were Marilyn s objectives on the way to being effectuated in the second exchange? Yes, Marilyn was able to stand her ground and argue her points in the second exchange. She diverted Len s responses and enforced her objectives rationally. For example, she seem far more comfortable in probing comments about her team being unskilled by reminding Len that they are former members of his team and trained by him. She also corrected Len when he tried to say that the boss was aware his decision, when in reality he had already approved Marilyn s position. Were Len s objectives on the way to being effectuated in the second exchange? No, in the 2nd exchange Len was still hostile and evasive about his obligation to turn over the viable accounts he promised. He was being heard by Marilyn, but his points were being challenge. What do you project the outcome of the second exchange to be? I think Len will be forced to turn over the accounts he promised and the negotiation probably want end in his favor. Marilyn is ... A tribute to Patsy Cline A tribute to Patsy Cline with Mandy Barnett and the Nashville Symphony On November fourteenth at eight o clock p.m. I attended a Patsy Cline tribute concert featuring Mandy Barnett and the Nashville Symphony with my grandparents. On that particular Friday night, it had been raining for most of the day. My grandparents came and picked me up at five o clock in hopes of going to a nice dinner before the show. Once we got on the road, it was clear that our itinerary was not going to work out as we had planned it to. • 7. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission ( Nrc ) A persistent state of stagnation has plagued the creation of low level nuclear waste disposal sites for nearly three decades. To date, there are only four licensed facilities capable of accepting, storing, and disposing low level waste in the United States (NRC 2015a). As an independent agency created by Congress in 1974, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) regulates the creation and management of commercial low level waste sites through licensing, inspection, and enforcement of its requirements. Due to the apparent lack of new disposal sites, a closer analysis of the NRC s licensing requirements is needed. Is the current policy conducive to expansionary facilities in other parts of the nation? Are the technical and financial requirements established by the NRC for commercial facilities too steep to allow the creation of new facilities, creating a natural monopoly? In addressing these issues, the following analysis examines the NRC s current policy compared to proposed alternatives using empirical and theoretical analyses. Finally, the goal and the final policy recommendation of this analysis is ultimately in line with the NRC s overarching strategic values: safety and security. Case Description The definition of low level waste is negative. The main difference between cold, and cool dryness is that the person will show more signs of dryness. Dryness enters the body with other climactic elements, so it can be more dangerous than the other 6 elements because of its ability to combine its power (Gao 42 50). Internal dryness is caused by loss of blood and other body fluids. Internal dryness usually occurs after a person has been sick with a disease that caused them to vomit or to have diarrhea. I called into the forest. My voice echoed of of the thick trunks of the trees. The feeling of panic spread throughout me. I quickened my pace, anxious to find Adam. After walking for a few minutes, I realized I had wandered farther than I ever had before. I spun around, trying to remember what direction I had come from. After debating with myself, I decided to head back downhill. Slowly going along, trying to decided if I was going the right direction, I heard a low sobbing. My first thoughts jumping to Adam, I screamed his name. With no response, I quickened my pace. I spun around and there it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. My Viking-Guan Journey Last Tuesday, my son s teacher held a one day trip to Taipei Water Park in Gong guan. My older daughter and I also participated in this journey. We went there by bus and MRT. Before the departure, I worried about the safety of children. I thought it was dangerous and difficult to control order. Fortunately, there are thirteen adults to take care of twenty seven students that day. After reaching Taipei Water Park, we watched an animated propaganda video in Water Resources Education Center. The video taught us the importance of saving water and Soil and Water Conservation. Besides, a guide told us that the price of water in Taiwan is ridiculously cheap. One thousand liters only cost about ten new Taiwan dollars, but about fifty dollars in Japan. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Jesus s Love Through Servant Leadership And Compassion... Nicholas Smith Relational Dynamics Mr. Bauer December 8, 2015 Jesus Love Jesus expresses love through servant leadership and compassion for others. He heals others and makes sure to lead by example, and serve his followers. He expresses all types of love except for eros. Love by definition is an emotion explored in philosophy, religion, and literature, often as either romantic love, the fraternal love of others, or the love of God. As I explored the definition by means of the Internet, books, and articles I noticed the definitions changed quite a bit, but yet had the same basic understanding. The definition I found in was probably the most simple and most basic. It refers to love in the whole aspect, which is Godly, fraternal, and romantic. All in which can only be defined by one word and that it love. The definitions of love are the same and yet different. Godly, for instance is the love of God, and your devotion and respect toward him, the creator. In all religion, god carries the same aspect. Fraternal love is the love of ones family and relatives, even the love of one who is close to you, in that respect, such as a friend. Then there s romantic love; a love between two people, which I consider to be both intimate and sexual. Older dictionaries and encyclopedias usually refer to the romantic aspect of love, as the love in which is experience between man and woman. In today s society it is said that romantic love can be found regardless of your gender and based on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The private sphere is traditional and immune to outside interferences. The public sphere is subject to interference from the outsiders. The United States government, like many other governments, most always has a hidden agenda when they choose what issues to privatize and what issues to publicize. American troops tend to ignore private issues such as domestic abuse and women s education in Afghanistan because these issues are seen as private issues; however, when there is something to gain from interfering it becomes a public issue. Sharbat Gula is a young Afghan girl who for seventeen years was only a picture, lacking a name and a story in the American media. Seventeen years later the photographer, Steve McCurry, returned searching for this young girl to publicize her previous unimportant story. He returned to publicize the violation to women s right to education in Afghanistan. The hidden agenda was to show the American people that Afghan women needed saving from their culture and society. Yet, there was no mention that the war that the United States is a part of is what ruined these women s futures. The United States troops in Afghanistan rescued a brutally tortured and abused Afghan woman named Aisha Bibi after she was left to die in the mountains by the Taliban. • 36. The Justification of Reverse Discrimination in Hiring Essay In The Justification of Reverse Discrimination in Hiring, Tom Beauchamp displays statistics of underrepresented races and genders in institutions. The inequality is due to the underlying persistent racism originating decades ago. It has been pervasively executed despite federal laws for equality. The expectation for a level playing field is not a reality, as statistically show with underrepresented African Americans (1. Beauchamp, CC2011, p 0228). Beauchamp points out that at first sight, reverse discrimination appears immoral, because it crafts a prejudice for one race over another. However, he asserts that this inference is not applicable in the real world where ubiquitous prejudice still exists as indicated by statistics. Because we ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is an overrepresentation of minorities in inferior schools, living in a crime infested city, and lacking family support (4. Rachels, CC2011, p 0203). If a minority with disadvantages reaches the same qualifications as an advantaged Caucasian, the minority is more deserving, indicative of the increased effort needed to put in. Fairness is a necessary condition in Rachels argument and minorities that are qualified for institutions are generalized to have put in more sweat. In some cases when this generalization is true, preferential treatment is considered fair. To establish a level playing field, Beauchamp suggests a policy of strong affirmative action. This includes quotas to be implemented and supported by government sanctions in a timely manner. Commitment to quotas will statistically show progress towards a society built on equality. Beauchamp believes that laws are ineffectively implemented and it is unclear to tell if institutions are intentionally discriminating unless numbers are available (5. Beauchamp, CC2011, p 0230). Beauchamp s policy is an argument where the end result morally justifies the method to get there. However, Rachels suggests a moderate form of reverse discrimination where in a pool of equally qualified candidates, those challenged by unearned disadvantages get preference. This consequentialist argument suggests that young minorities do not have role models or mentors to emulate. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
