Fountain Hills Research Papers
What is Fountain Hills? What is Fountain Hills, Arizona? Underneath the surface of this quiet
town, there is an interesting history, an abundance of amenities, and a wealth of opportunity for
entertainment and experiences. The land that became Fountain Hills has an interesting past. In
the 1930 s, it was the privately owned, P Bar Ranch, and had a vague history. After changing
hands several times, it came into the possession of Robert P. McCulloch. Robert Paxton
McCulloch (May 11, 1911 February 25, 1977) was an entrepreneur and industrialist, who
graduated from Stanford University, and had a curious history of his own. He developed the one
man operated chainsaw, built three other communities, purchased the old London Bridge,
developed a centrifugal supercharger used in such iconic cars as the 55 Kaiser Manhattan, 57
Studebaker Golden Hawk, and the 57 Ford Thunderbird, and built several companies still active
today. McCulloch purchased the 45,000 acres of P Bar Ranch in 1960, and enlisted his friend
Charles Wood, Jr. to help him start a community there.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For outdoor activities, Fountain Hills has several hiking trails in and around the town, as well as
the Verde and Salt Rivers, which host tubing, fishing and camping, and Saguaro Lake, which
hosts boating fishing, and other water sports, all within an hour or so of the town. The town itself
has many activities as well, including multiple Fine Arts Fairs, Oktoberfest, and St Patrick s Day
events, during which they dye The Fountain green. If none of those satisfy, Fort McDowell
Casino is less than thirty minutes away; here patrons can enjoy Wild West and rodeo experiences,
as well as slot machines, bingo, keno, and Arizona s largest card room. These activities grant
Fountain Hills residents a wealth of things do to, all fairly inexpensive and in close proximity their

Personal Narrative I Am Jeremy
I am Jeremy. I am in the seventh grade, redheaded, and the funniest kid in town. I live with my
Gran in a small suburban home in California. People always say I m funny because I m full of
jokes. But I still run out of material pretty fast. So one November, when I had used my last joke
on a kid across the street, I went to the search engine on my Gran s old box computer and typed:
the best joke. Immediately, an ad came that said: Do you know jokes? Do you want to know the best
joke in the world? Sign up and come to 422 Haha Lane on November sixteenth! There was a
laughing emoji too. I clicked on the link and it brought me to a survey. I filled it, then asked my
Gran to bring me to the city. The city, Jeremy? Gran asked in her... Show more content on

I m sorry, I said. But this joke is still under construction. Next was an ice cube with a paper that
had FIRED written in big, bold, red letters. Oh, that ice cube must be crushed! It went on. What
is this? he asked. The man showed me a drawing of a Japanese warrior. That joke is too long, let
me samurai ze it for you. You passed the test. Come with me. On the way to our next destination,
he asked me, Hey, when did the man go to the dentist? Oh, at tooth hurty, I answered, and
continued walking. I followed him into a large, dark storage room. There were old milk cartons,
boomerangs, wooden birds and eggs, and toy remote controlled Mercedes cars in large piles
around the room. A large man and three other suited men walked out of the shadows. I heard the
door lock behind me. Suddenly, the large man spoke. Hello, Jeremy. I m the Joker. I collect jokes.
Like the Joker from Batman? I braved. Now is not the time to be silly, Jeremy. I need your jokes.
And I will get them, he signaled his three men to approach me with By force. The men took out
their rope. The supposed Joker laughed. Never trust an ad,

Analysis Of The Book The Time Machine

Introduction
The best selling novel, The Time Machine, is written by H.G. Wells. H.G. Wells is also known as
The Father of Science Fiction. Wells has written many books that has influenced our vision of the
future, The Time Machine, being his first and foremost novel. The Time Machine is the story of the
Time Traveler who invents the machine, his adventures while traveling, and his recounting of the
tale to the narrator and friends gathered in his home.
Key Idea 1 The beginning of the book is very intriguing, pulling readers into the book and making
them want to read more. The book begins in the Time Traveler s home, where he and his guests are
having dinner and discussing his theories about time and time travel. When the Time Traveler tells
the guests he can actually do it, they are skeptical. The Time Traveler s colleagues bombard him
with protestations and thought provoking questions. This part of the book makes the reader wonder
what the outcome of time traveling might be but it is obvious that the Time Traveler
wholeheartedly believes in time travel.
Key Idea 2 In a moment my hand was on the lever and I had placed a month between myself and
these monsters. What a classic, wonderfully imaginative science fiction sentence. The story is
completely and utterly engrossing. The fact that the book was published in 1895 and science
lovers can still love and appreciate this book and H.G. Wells

Cronus And Greek Gods
Have you ever seen a god before well here is a story about gods. The gods were ready to go to
war with Cronus and the titans. Everyone was getting ready for the war Zeus got his lightning bolt,
Poseidon got his trident, and Hades got helmet of invisibility. So they were waiting for Cronus it
was very quiet. So then Zeuslooked at the ground and he notice that the ground was weird and he
told everyone to get off the ground because it was a trap. Then a huge explosion went on and
mostly everyone got off. And they saw the titans coming up thru the ground. And they were
attacking the gods and Cronuswas attacking everyone too. So they made a plan that Zeus would go

And it is just big enough to fit her hand in it. So the guards came back around and she put her
hand through the door and she reached out for the keys and she got them!! So she opened the
door as soon as the guards left she unlocked the door she ran out of the underworld. So it was like
a maze in there but she remembered how she came in when she was following Zeus, and
Poseidon. So she got out and her friendship with Hades was strong because usually the gods hurt
the people and Hades did not do hurt her. So she knows that she can give hades a friend for once.
So then she went back to earth and she saw them fighting. So she went to the battlefield having no
idea why she was going to a battle field and
She is yelling Hades!, Hades! .
So hades turns around and Zeus, and poseidon were like how does she know your name Hades.
And Hades confesses the truth to them. So then Cronus saw the little girl and he grabbed a weapon

Trait Theory
Trait theory Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Page 1 of 8 Trait theory From Wikipedia, the free
encyclopedia Trait theory in psychology, is an approach to the study of human personality. Trait
theorists are primarily interested in the measurement of traits, which can be defined as habitual
patterns of behavior, thought, and emotion.[1] According to this perspective, traits are relatively
stable over time, differ across individuals (e.g. some people are outgoing whereas others are shy),
and influence behavior. Gordon Allport was an early pioneer in the study of traits, which he
sometimes referred to as dispositions. In his approach, central traits are basic to an individual s
personality, whereas secondary traits are more... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The five factor model in particular has been criticized for losing the orthogonal structure between
factors.[8][9] Hans Eysenck has argued that fewer factors are superior to a larger number of
partly related ones.[10] Although these two approaches are comparable because of the use of
factor analysis to construct hierarchical taxonomies, they differ in the organization and number of
factors. Whatever the causes, however, psychoticism marks the two approaches apart, as the five
factor model contains no such trait. Moreover, psychoticism, unlike any of the other factors in
either approach, does not fit a normal distribution curve. Indeed, scores are rarely high, thus
skewing a normal distribution.[11] However, when they are high, there is considerable overlap
with psychiatric conditions such as antisocial and schizoid personality disorders. Similarly, high
scorers on neuroticism are more susceptible to sleep and psychosomatic disorders.[12] Five factor
approaches can also predict future mental disorders.[13][14] Lower order factors There are two
higher order factors that both taxonomies clearly share: extraversion and neuroticism. Both
approaches broadly accept that extraversion is associated with sociability and positive affect,
whereas neuroticism is associated with emotional instability and negative affect. [11] Many lower
order factors, or

The Employment Of Contemporary Virtualization Technologies
Cloud Computing

March 1, 2015
Through the employment of contemporary virtualization technologies, with the incorporation of
advanced tools that expands the coverage of the systems administrator, the cost and labor of
operations will be significantly lowered. Efficiency improvement will have a direct impact on
operation costs of many institutions. Resources that could have been used in the buying and
maintaining data center infrastructure will be used in citizen centered services and other new
innovations that can go a long way to assist the citizen and ensure smooth running of the
government. Therefore, cloud computing will be a driving force to ensuring efficiency in the way
public resources are managed to the advantage of the people.
Every public office has a data center infrastructure where its data is stored and retrieved when
needed. In most cases, this infrastructure is underutilized. With cloud computing, the data storage
sections are eliminated because of pooling of IT Infrastructure resources and sharing across a large
number of organizations and offices that are possible with cloud computing. The wastage that is
realized when data centered are not utilized is thus eliminated because different offices have peak
seasons in different times hence making the system to be put in use all year round. This ensures
that public assets are better utilized and loses reduces or even eliminated.
Due to fragmented nature of

Things Fall Apart Culture
Chinua Achebe makes many comments throughout his writings in Things Fall Apart about the
belief systems that the people of the Ibo culture follow. During the novel the Ibo people identifies
themselves as an agricultural society, they are very dependent on their crops they grow.
Throughout the story the people of Umuofia are reliant on their production of crops, especially
yams. Similar to The Lottery , their town believes in superstitious ideas in order to feel as though
they are in control. Having a community based on agriculture is risky and there is no control how
the weather chooses to react, so their community is superstitious to feel some sort of command.

Achebe seems to be commenting that the Ibo culture follows strict invalid laws based on
superstitions also if they do not grasp the meaning of something, they seem to think it is evil as
part of their superstition and send it into the Evil Forest. The fact that they seem to think things
that they do not understand are evil, is very similar to the society in Anthem. The Ibo peoples
unwillingness to try new ideas and look into them is like the World Council in Anthem. Achebe s
way of portraying the Ibo culture gives you an idea as to what their beliefs are like. Chinua
Achebe s motives behind the way the Ibo people are portrayed seems to be to inform us on their
strict beliefs and how truly credulous they

Persian Constitutionalism
The Persian Constitutional Movement led to the creation of the Majlis and the Government
Gendarmerie, which were quite active throughout the Great War. In the Iranian Nationalism and
Government Gendarmerie, historian Stephanie Cronin, a fellow of Oriental Studies at Oxford
University, argues that Gendarme offices were propelled to national leadership and led the fight
against foreign intervention during the Great War. The Gendarmerie Government utilized various
strategies, imperial and domestic, to help reverse Irans political chaos and eventual burnout. Cronin
uses a chronological approach to capture the social political history of Gendarme officers, which
was established during the Qajar Dynasty. The shah wanted to modernize the Iranian... Show more

Throughout her article, Cronin uses a political discourse to demonstrate how the Gendarmerie
gained their power in a short period of time. Unlike any of her contemporaries, she uses Persian
sources to provide insight into the said discourse. She s uses Persian archival documents, such as
Tarikh i Zhandarmiri yi Iran, that provide insight to on the Government Gendarmerie, which truly
enriches her narrative. Persian sources describe the state s position during the Great War in a first
hand account and this attributes to the states participation in keeping their own agency throughout
the war. Olson uses British sources and narrative, like Grey s memoirs and Malcolm s text, to
illustrate Persia s involvement as the middleman; Majd follows this same approach with use of
State Department documents to view things from an American perspective. Thus, the use of
sources influences the language and tone used in the scholarship. Both Majd and Olson use a
neutral tone that describes Persia as lifeless state that seemed almost helpless, but Cronin argues
that people worked within the system to change their fate. More importantly, this political rhetoric
developed out Curzon s interpretation of

History Of The Cherokee Indians
`The Cherokee Indians were a very modern group of Native Americans; they had successfully
blended into the American way of life. For example, they made their government like the
American way, translated the Bible, and even used American rules for owning property. Life for
the Cherokee nation seemed to be going well, but in 1832 they would have to fight for their land.
Gold was discovered in Georgia, so Georgians wanted to force the Cherokee Indians out, so they
would have more gold. The Cherokee Indians fought in a nonviolent way; they sued. In Worcester
v. Georgia (1832), which followed a similar case from the ear before, Cherokee, Georgia, the
Supreme Court ruled that the Cherokee nation was a sovereign nation and that the state of Georgia

To what extent was the Dawes Plan a turning point for...
To what extent was the Dawes Plan a turning point for Germany, 1919 1933? Explain your
answer. The Dawes Plan of 1924 was formulated to take Weimar Germany out of hyperinflation
and to return Weimar s economy to some form of stability. It helped Germany return to its pre
war state. Economically, socially and politically Germany seemed to be more stable than it was
in previous and following years. However, this stable period seemed to have been built on
unstable foundations. The economy appeared to have stabalised with the introduction of the
Dawes Plan. Before 1924, Germany was experiencing hyperinflation. The old Papiermark was
rapidly depreciating and so Germany had to print more and more of it to pay reparations. By
December 1922... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore there was a decline in extremist parties such as the Communists and the National
Socialists because many Germans didn t want an extreme change and liked Germany as it was.
This was a turning point for Germany because it seemed that the extremist parties would not be
capable of getting seats in the parliament. Also, Stresemann convinced the public that a
democratic government would solve any problems quickly and many believed him. The
popularity of the Social Democrats increased and they had the majority of the seats in the
parliament (153). This was a turning point for Germany because people started to believe that
this new democratic government would remain stable and prosperous for the years to come. The
Dawes Plan allowed this to happen because it gave the Republic the money it needed to invest in
the economy for the people. However, this success seemed to be short term and relied on
Germany s unguaranteed success to keep people from voting for extremist parties. Although
Stresemann s Germany looked promising, there was still political instability because no one party
could gain a majority in the republic. Governments had to be formed from coalitions of parties
working together. This meant that decision making was difficult and could easily be overturned by
a smaller, less significant party. Up to 1930, the Social Democrats always won the most votes, but
never enough to govern on their own. There were twenty five

Ichabod In Tim Burton s Sleepy Hollow
Although Tim Burton s Sleepy Hollow is a depiction of Washington Irving s The Legend of
Sleepy Hollow, the movie is quite different than the original horror story. Burton takes a legendary
ghost tale and transforms it into a murder mystery. He alters the character roles and add more
properties to assist in redesigning the film. By taking Ichabod, the main character and shifting his
career, Burton is able to develop the plot that initially sets the change from one genre to another. In
the original story, Ichabod is an awkwardly, thin school teacher who loves engaging in stories about
the supernatural. According to Irving, He was tall, but exceedingly lank with narrow shoulders,
long arms and legs, hands that dangled a mile out of his... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He believes in science and reasoning making him a not so easy target to be scared by the
supernatural. This is why Burton s Ichabod is a detective and the headless horseman is considered to
be a murderer instead of ghostly figure who haunts the living. Changing Ichabod s profession is
an extremely essential part of the film. It serves as the main purpose as to why the genre is
changed to a murder mystery. By having Ichabod as a constable, Ichabod searches for clues and
seeks out to find the headless horsemen. If Burton had not changed Ichabod s profession, it would
be relatively impractical to see a cowardly teacher on a murder scene trying to catch the suspect.
Although Burton s Ichabod is a detective, he still possess qualities of a teacher. For instance, he
takes young Masbeth under his wing. Taking Masbeth on excursions with him through Sleepy
Hollow, he teaches him how to investigate through experiences. Ichabod s investigation of the
victims is also quite similar to a teacher. Like chemistry teachers who perform experiments in a
laboratory, Ichabod does the same. For instance, the first investigation scene where he sprinkles a
substance on the body of the man who was just killed or investigating the strides of the horseman to

This essay discusses the enlightenment which was a time of great philosophical and intellectual
ideas that swept Europe off its feet in the 18th century. During this time people doubted the
existence of God and what the Church has to say about the laws and such. Older dogmatic
suggestions were changed in America at this time as the colonies were no longer constrained by
England. The attitudes in the colonies also changed political views through these ideas. These
political ideas include John Locke s view on why monarchs that don t protect the lives liberty and

Women, I argue from analogy, are degraded by the same propensity to enjoy the present moment;
and, at last, despite the freedom which they have not sufficient virtue to struggle to attain. But I
must be more explicit. (Wollstonecraft 93). What she is saying is that while men willingly bow
down to aristocracy women then must too, because they are perceived as lesser than man. Mary is
trying to tell us that women are not subservient to a man but are equals and those who don t
struggle to get their freedom do not value it. She also believes women should have an education
which leads me to my next paragraph.
Secondly, Mary Wollstonecraft believed that women are intellectuals that deserve an education.
Mary believed that appearance did not make the woman but the knowledge the obtained through
education and through education they would obtain reason. Mary thought women should be
educated if they were widowed so they wouldn t have to marry or get remarried and so they could
provide stability and sustenance to themselves and their children if any. To have at least the basic
human rights women should first obtain reason and rationality which, in Mary s opinion, is what
separates humans from animals. Mary testified that women were not slaves to their passion and
emotion but rational thinkers. Mary believed if girls were brought up with education from an early
age they would be more rational and that in this act of early educational development they should

All the everyday tasks of life were still going on when Icarus was drowning. ThepoemЕ› tone was

works of arts show that while this misfortunate event was going on everyone was still consumed in
their daily life tasks. The poem and the painting do not greatly emphasize the tragic event. The
poem uses words such as unnoticed and insignificantly to describe the scene. The painting does the
same by making the part where he is drowning fairly small. The mood of the painting and tone of
the poem are similar as they both show the scene as indifferent. Both of these have difference like

The Arts and Crafts Movement Essay
The Arts and Craft movement was a social and artistic movement, which began in Britain in the
second half of the nineteenth century and continued into the twentieth spreading to continental
Europe and the USA. Its adherents artists, architects, designers and Craftsmen sought to reassert the
importance of and craftsmanship in all arts in the face of increasing industrialization, which they
felt was sacrificing quality in the pursuit of quantity. Its supporters and practioners were united not
so much by a style rather than the common goal a desire to break down the hierarchy of the arts
and to revive traditional handicrafts and make art that could be affordable to all.
The leading exponent and propagandist of the movement was the ... Show more content on

This satisfaction, the proponents of this movement felt, was totally denied in the industrialised
processes inherent in compartmentalised machine production.
In the United States, the Arts and Crafts Movement took on a distinctively more bourgeois flavor.
While the European movement tried to recreate the virtuous world of craft labor that was being
destroyed by industrialization, Americans tried to establish a new source of virtue to replace heroic
craft production: the tasteful middle class home. They thought that the simple but refined aesthetics
of Arts and Crafts decorative arts would ennoble the new experience of industrial consumerism,
making individuals more rational and society more harmonious. In short, the American Arts and
Crafts Movement was the aesthetic counterpart of its contemporary political movement:
Progressivism.

Memory Encoding Storage And Retrieval
There are three different basic processes of memory: encoding, storage, and retrieval. Memory is
the process by which we recollect prior experiences, information, and skills learned in the past. This
lab focuses on altering the retrieval stage. The retrieval stage consists of returning and locating
memorythat is stored and bringing it to conscious thought. To be able to retrieve this information,
one must know knowledge of proper procedures. There is certain information in our memory that
is so familiar to us that it can be very difficult to forget. The method of retrieval depends on how a
person encodes it from the start. (Rathus, 2010).

all over the school toilet doors, accompanied by the terms faggot, gay and disgusting . I want you
now to stand in the shoes of Jake, an 11 year old transgender boy. You are currently being racially

stand on Ben s point of view. And think, what if your coach kicked you out of your football team
simply because you weren t masculine enough for the sport? Finally, I want you to become Jane,

single day is filled to the brim with inequality and danger.
Ladies and Gentlemen, over a tenth of our society is made up of the LGBTI ( the Lesbian, Gay,
Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex) community. In 2010, the Safe Schools Coalition Australia was
founded, this establishment brought hope and protection to hundreds upon thousands of students
experiencing bullying. However, being the nation we are, extreme right wing bigots are attempting
to withdraw this life saving initiative from nationwide primary and secondary schools.
I ask you, how is the sexuality of LGBTI children any different to our diversity in hair colour ? (is
this a good example)? In Australia, we are proud of our individuality and celebrate our differences.
So, why is something so valuable, so integral to our society used an excuse for the discrimination
and degradation of others? Why is it that right wing bigots and conservative MP s are starving
vulnerable children of protection and safety?
Our opposition complains relentlessly about how the safe schools approach is controversial and
ideological, accusing the initiative of promoting a radical view of gender

Taking a Look at Eleanor Roosevelt
Eleanor Roosevelt is one of the most famous First Ladies in history. Although she was awkward
and shy as a child, she married Franklin Delano Roosevelt, and became an influential figure to the
world as well as an inspiration to women everywhere in her own right. Eleanor was more than a
president s wife; she was an eloquent speaker, delegate of the United Nations, and overall an
independent woman.
Anna Eleanor Roosevelt was born on October 11, 1884 in New York City. She grew up with a
wealthy family in the Manhattan boroughs. She was the sister of two younger brothers: Elliott
Jr. and Hall. Her parents, Elliott and Ann, were socialites at the top of New York s society.
Although her parents were wealthy, it did not buy them their happiness. Before Eleanor was
five, her father broke his ankle while doing somersaults for the county circus. To reduce the pain
of his injury, Elliott began drinking more heavily. Because of Elliott s moodiness and depression,
he set out to find a cure for himself. This separated him from all of his children, including
Eleanor. Without Eleanor s father with her, she became discouraged. Her only wish was to make
her father happy. Not only was Eleanor upset over Elliott leaving; Anna was as well. Anna was
furious with his decisions and started to neglect her children. Eleanor s education was disregarded,
so her mother hired her a tutor. While this was occurring, Anna was diagnosed with an unknown
illness. A few weeks after Ann had surgery, she died

Constructivism And The Theory Of Constructivism
We have all been guilty of doing it, making assumptions about someone based on what we have
seen or been through. We see a person or an object and classify it as tall, wealthy, ugly, pretty,
etc. Categorizing what we see can be helpful but sometimes it can lead to stereotyping. But why
do we make assumptions? The theory of Constructivism can help us understand why we
categorize things we see into constructs and how these constructs can be harmful and how they
can benefit or hurt us when we communicate with others. The theory of constructivism helps
explain how meaning can be developed through interactions we have. The basis of the theory
was started by George Kelly who was a main author in the Personal Construct Theory. This theory
discussed insight and how it can be gained by people s interactions and perceptions and how they
use their observations to make attributions. It claimed that individuals understand the world
around them by organizing and recognizing people and events by their personal constructs they
create. Personal constructs can be explained as sets of opposites into which objects are classified
(Lee 2016) such as rich poor, cheap expensive, etc. This helped pave the way for constructivism,
which reasons that people classify their experiences into groups so they can help give meaning to
it and can make sense of the situation. According to Jessie Delia (1982), one of the main leaders in
the theory, action is guided by context relevant interactions and

industrial revolution. Since the industrial revolution the ocean has become more acidic by 30%.
Industrial and agricultural activities have released more and more carbon dioxide into the
atmosphere. Studies show that a quarter of all carbon dioxidereleased into the atmosphere is
absorbed into the ocean. As the CO2 levels rise in the atmosphere, the CO2 levels also rise in the
ocean. The CO2 that is absorbed into the ocean changes the chemistry of the ocean making the
water more acidic. This process is called ocean acidification. [1] When the CO2 dissolves into the
water, it mixes with the water (H2O) and creates carbonic acid(H2CO3). This reaction is reversible
and it is a equilibrium. This means that this reaction is balanced and if you add something to
one side the result will come out equal to the other. For example if you added more CO2 the
reaction will produce more H2CO3. Adding more H2CO3 will make Hydrogen and bicarbonate
appear more abundantly. H2CO3 easily breaks down into HCO3 1 (Bicarbonate) and
H+(Hydrogen). Shellfish in the sea rely on calcium carbonate to form their shells. Since there is an
abundance of hydrogen in the ocean, carbonate combines with the hydrogen. Carbonate would
rather combine with hydrogen than calcium. This is why ocean acidification is causing a depletion
in the population of shellfish. [3] Scientist would not have been able to

Essay On My Dreams
Monday, march 18th,8:15 am. I woke up this morning to the usual sounds of the blue birds
chirping and the ray of the warm sun shine through the window onto my face. And the same old
view of New York City. I walked out of my bedroom and went to say goodbye to my husband
Michael downstairs by the door before he leaves for work. Kimberly don t forget to wake up poppy
he said. Okay love you i said. He shuts the door furiously as he leaves for work . I have a 3 year old
daughter named Penelope but we call her poppy for short like the flower. I gave birth to her just
after my motherdied and my mother s favorite flower was a poppy. Since Poppy has never met her

bed and I gently put my hand on her hot forehead. She finally woke up but she looked sick. Her
forehead was as hot as a furnace and her sweat soaked her whole entire bed. Poppy did you sleep
okay ? Not really she said. Maybe we should go see the doctor today don t you think . Well as long

Summary Of Mira Nair And Mississippi Masala
Mira Nair and Mississippi Masala (1991) IntroductionMira Nair is an independent filmmaker
who splits her time between New York City, Kampala, and wherever her next project takes her.
As appraised by the writers at RogerEbert.com, Nair has made a career of presenting audiences
with characters they may not know first hand, but connect with personally (2016). Her work is a
delicate balance between the exploration of complex issues of identity and displacement and
the humor and vibrancy of everyday life. Background Born on October 15, 1957 in
Bhubaneshwar, Orissa, India, young Nair watched as her father, a civil servant, helped mold
India s new identity (IMDb, 2017). At the age of sixteen, Nair pursued protest theater in Kolkata
(kael kun taa), capital of West Bengal state (Badt, 2004, pg. 10). Her college career began at
Delhi University, with a focus on theater, and continued at Harvard University, where Nair
became enamored with cinГ©ma vГ©ritГ© and sociology (Badt, 2004, pg. 10). She directed
her first work, Jama Masjid Street Journal (1979), at the age of 22 (Nair Meer, 1991, pg. 47).
The thematic aspect of Nair s films remains consistent. Her work explores the concept of
otherness, as seen in the dancers of India Cabaret (documentary, 1985), the homeless children of
Salaam Bombay! (fiction, 1988), and the cultural hybrid that is Mina of Mississippi Masala
(fiction, 1991) (Shah, 1987, pg. 23). The word sensual reappears in interviews and film reviews,

Mentioning in her poem the gifts of dolls, stoves and irons, and make up to make her point. The
title of the poem Barbie Doll automatic gives the reader a sense of what the meaning of the poem
is about. In her poem she raises the question of what is acceptable beauty in today s society. In
society views, beauty is symbolized in the figure of a Barbie doll. Tall, thin, with perfect features.

Jason Terwiliger s Problems With His Restaurant At The...
Jason Terwiliger, a new member of the finance committee at the Windshore Country Club,
recently found some problems with the financing of the F B outlets. His upscale restaurant in the
city is extremely successful, and he hopes to bring some helpful ideas to the Windshore Country
Club s F B operations on the outskirts of the city. One main concern Jason has is all of the
differences in the 4 F B outlets and that they all come out of the same kitchen. He says that the club
s foodcost is at 42% while his restaurant is at 28%, which is a huge difference. Steve should
respond to this concern by telling Jason that although his restaurant only has one outlet for his
kitchen, most clubs have many outlets only run from one kitchen, and while he can t change that

He points out that the chef must make about 6 ducks early in the day to prepare the meal in case
someone orders it, but often that food is thrown away and wasted. Steve should inform Jason
that this may be more uncommon in the restaurant field, but in clubs, specialty dishes that are
prepared daily are very common and also expected by members who want the best food they can
receive. One way to eliminate such a high food waste for Steve may be to prepare less duck each
day, and if they run out they have other high quality dishes to replace them. Another issue was
the use of all fresh ingredients. Jason appreciates the quality of food but also states that frozen
ingredients can offer nearly the same quality for some foods for much less of a cost. Depending
on the quality of the country club and how exclusive they are, Steve may tell Jason that they can
only use fresh ingredients in their kitchen, but may also take him up on his idea and incorporate
some frozen foods in certain dishes. Maybe dishes not as large, like appetizers or fast food outlets,
could use frozen foods more often to cut

The Influence Of Western Culture In Disney s Aladdin
Even the most seemingly harmless of __ can change the way we treat peopl. In Aladdin, Aladdin
is a street rat until he finds a magic genie lamp, which can grant him three of his wishes. However,
the villain Jafar, who put him up to finding the lamp, has a different idea for its uses. In the end,
Aladdin has to save Princess Jasmineand the city of Agrabah with the influential help of the genie
from Jafar and his evil forces. In Disney s Aladdin, the culture in Agrabah is presented through an
orientalist lense, suggesting the population in Agrabah needs, wants, and would be better off with
the influence of western culture; this representation is in order for Disney to justify the United
States cultural colonization.

At the end of the film, after Jasmine and Aladdin defeat Jafar with the help of the genie, they thank
the genie for all of his help. Then, Aladdin and Jasmine ride off into the sunset on their magic
carpet. When the couple disappears from sight, the moon turns around, laughing, and it is the face
of the genie. The genie not only represents western culture, but he represents the person in western
culture who has power. He demonstrates this because he his the moon looking down over his
domain. Additionally, the colonialist discourse has an element of justification on their action for
helping the colonized people. They believe that it is their duty to help them. Thus, when the genie
is the moon, he represents the contentment the colonizers have over supposedly helping the
colonized. The genie helped the people in the Orient obtain what they want. For example, Aladdin
obtains everything he wants because he gets Jasmine s affections and he is no longer poor.
Additionally, he and Jasmine sing a whole new world for you and me as they ride into the sunset,
which signifies that they have been exposed to the culture because together they have experienced
a whole new world. Disney suggests that their objet petit a is to have this influence of new cultures
and to experience a whole new

might have wished? The hard reality is, surely, that for the likes of you and I, there is little choice

It is this blind loyalty with which Stevens gratifies his employer and unables himself to look
closely at what his employer really thinks or does (symptoms of dignity ). His doctrine states:
It is, in practice, simply not possible to adopt such a critical attitude towards an employer and at
the same time provide good service. It is not simply that one is unlikely to be able to meet the
many demands of service at the higher levels while one s attentions are being diverted by such
matters; more fundamentally, a butler who is forever attempting to formulate his own strong
opinions on his employer s affairs is bound to lack one quality essential in all good professionals:
namely, loyalty. (Ishiguro, 200)
But the loyalty doctrine denies Stevens his own thoughts on, for instance, Darlington s letting go
of the Jewish maids, or whether or not the great guests he has the honor or serving in his capacity
as a great butler are really so great after all.
Stevens detachment ultimately is chilling, for the distance that he believes is a necessary aspect of
dignity, instead distances him even from the fact that this attitude of detachment is not great, but
unhealthy. This sets a butler s dignity above human dignity, he realizes at the end, and human
dignity must always come first: Lord Darlington wasn t bad man...And at least he had the privilege

We will choose to do an online and mobile survey, these two types have a very small cost. The
cost of getting a response is far less than the cost of administering a paper survey or phone
survey, and the number of potential responses can be in the thousands, which would be most
ideal. Surveys are very useful in describing the characteristics of a large population. A survey
provides a broad capability, which ensures a more accurate sample to gather targeted results in
which to draw conclusions and make important decisions about our NHL franchise. The
anonymity of surveys allows respondents to answer with more candid and valid answers. To get
the most accurate data, we need respondents to be as open and honest as possible with their
answers, especially if it is clearly stated that survey answers will remain completely confidential.

Iciologist Charles Cooley Idea Of The Looking Glass Self
Kids are invincible, they believe that they can do anything in the world. The reason kids are like
this and adults are not is because kids have never been told that they cannot do something. That
is why kids run around saying their going to be the president of the United States, because no
one has ever crushed their dreams yet. When you grow up you begin to see whats realistic for
oneself and what is not. Other people shape our perception of ourselves and what we think we can
accomplish. As people grow from being a baby, to an adolescence, to an adult they see how others
treat them and form a self image based on what they think others think of his or hers behaviors and
appearance. This is known as sociologist Charles Cooleyidea of the Looking Glass Self. A persons
looking glass self develops throughout their life time and shapes based on their social
interactions and context of what others think of them. While ages one to five kids are only
surrounded by their primary group. Kids imaginations can run wild and this allows them to
believe that anything is possible. All kids are the same therefore, the social interactions of kids
don t shape their self image until they are older. Unless kids have bad home lives they think they
are the best think ever. But as kids begin to grow and go to elementary school they become more
self conscious. They feel if they dress nicely others will like them more. This is when we start
imagining what we think others think of us. What we

Landscape Architecture Essay
Why is research an integral part of landscape architecture?
This semester we tried to learn and discuss the influence of research work in landscape
architecture design. Landscape architecture is becoming more and more important in people s
daily life today and it is essential for us to have a good awareness of how research work would
affect landscape architecture design. I will illustrate this point from three parts: (1) why is
research an integral part of landscape architecture? (2) what roles do it fill? (3) how will landscape
architecture be impacted by over the fifty years as a result of landscape architecture research?
First of all, a successful landscape architecture design work is not only based on designers
design technique and talent, information about the site and guideline of the design process are
also important issues. Evidence based design is an ideal example of landscape architecture
design today, which is a theory emphasizing credible evidence to influence design work. It is vey
popular in healthcare field and designers try to perfect their work by credible information. So,
information is really important in landscape design today. Our world is full of information and
information is really easily acquired today by internet. Information is essential for our design work.
While, not all of information we collected is true. So, research work is becoming more and more
important for us to collect credible information.
Research work is a process to look for

Another essential element in creating a computer is the knowledge of how to use electricity (

Stereotypes Reflective Essay
Before reading this chapter I knew that labeling things, like stereotypes, was a part of human
nature and wasn t something we could particularly help. I hadn t known that stereotyping had a
reason behind it, especially not a cognitive one. Stereotypes are a result of the way we process
information, even social information. We categorize each other and I believe there s no danger
in that. Stereotypes are unavoidable. We categorize people everyday. Just the other day I saw a
kid with a cape playing a ukulele and I thought man that kid is weird. Which is normal to assess
because people don t do that everyday. Now everytime I see the kid I associate him with the term
weirdo. In my schemas I ll remember people who play ukuleles and wear capes as weird.... Show

Another personal experience where I encountered a piece of information that is inconsistent with
my stereotype is when I heard people playing Drake behind me. Naturally, I assumed that the
people playing the music would be people of color because it was a person of color they were
playing and people of color stereotypically listen to this kind of music. As the music lowers and
the group of people I had just categorized walked ahead of me, I saw that each and every last one
of them were white males. It is unlikely that my stereotype will change although the piece of
information was shocking. This I believe is due to concentrated disconfirmation. There s only one
rare example that proves my stereotype about white boys wrong compared to the countless
stereotypes provided by real life experience, media, and peers that support this stereotype. The only
way that this stereotype would change is if there is dispersed disconfirmation. This meaning that
there would have to be multiple accounts of white boys listening to hip hop to prove my stereotype

appreciative than I realized at the time. But something that most people don t realize is that not all
kids who grow up with the same lifestyle end up with the same mindset as others. Different
childhoods all contain different experiences each containing important fragments that piece

The concept of being a child who was glorified by his mother at a young age, and who was flat
out just spoiled, gives context to Holden s inability to deal with issues on his own, reflecting on
his social skills and behavior challenges.(Yardley) So when Holden s younger brother Allie
passes away his initial reaction is to break the windows because he doesn t know how else to
deal with these types of issues. This aggressive reaction that Holden takes is understandable, but
at the same time unnecessary; most kids would deal with the loss of a loved one by seeking
comfort from others, but in this situation Holden no longer had his mother to pamper him
because they were busy grieving the loss as well. Leaving Holden Caulfield alone.( Irving 84) It

are in contrast to his high goals of superiority. Whether it is with his younger siblings, or with his
peers, it seems that Holden will take advantage of any moment that allows him to feel less inferior

Diversity And Originality Of The Philippine Culture In The...
The diversity and originality of the Philippine culture are outstanding and is heavily influenced
by the Spanish, who brought their own to spice up Philippine s culture, religion, lifestyle, and
way of thinking. It all dates back during 1564; it is one of the most significant years of the
Philippine history for it is a year in which the invasions on the Filipinos by New Spain led by
Miguel LГіpez de Legazpi were successful. It was not until later, however, when Legazpi and the
Spanish created perennial settlements around the coasts of Cebu despite heavy opposition from the
Cebuanos. Additionally, the Spanish sought after up and running, albeit small, communities
without central governing figures to perhaps strengthen the rule of the Governor General Legazpi.
Around this time, religion began playing a significant role in the Philippines as the Filipinos were
divided between Muslim and Catholic rule. The former deemed more dominant as the group was
much larger than the former, however, things were bound to change under Legazpi and the
Spaniards. Generally speaking, the number of Muslims in Mindanao and Sulu were much higher
than in Visayas and Luzon as the organizations were bigger and more organized, thus it was easier
to start with smaller groups. The Spanish took this opportunity and decided to Catholicize the small
communities before spreading the religion into a much bigger scale. It became the root of the
conflict between Muslim Filipinos and Christian Filipinos. On

the people, than the laws created by Pisistratus during his Tyranny?
Solon is hailed as the person who started the democratization process in Athens though what he
created is not what we would call a democracy. Solon was chosen by the people to create the
constitution of Athens after the Draconian reforms of 621 B.C which were extremely harsh and
drove the lucky people into slavery, for almost all other offences the penalty was death; the rich got
richer and the poor got poorer, the overall morale of the people was low. According to Aristotle (the
Constitution of Athens) the strife was keen, and for a long time the two parties were ranged in
hostile camps against one another, till at last, by common consent, they appointed Solon to be the
mediator and Archon, and committed the whole constitution to his hands. The civic unrest was so
disastrous that Athens needed a radicle change.
According to this same source, Solon illegalised the action of placing a debt on ones person so
that if they failed to return what they had borrowed they were not punished so drastically as to be
sold into

Statement Of Purpose For A Robot
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
Motion Engaged , as it displayed, the robot turned around and moved towards the fourteen year
old, whose fathomless curiosity waited for answers to a thousand questions regarding the
mysterious object. Just one thought kept coming back to me which one of them was a miracle, the
components that made the robot alive, or the man who knew exactly what to do with them. Both, I
finally concluded. If god has blessed us with semiconductors, it is man, who in his conquest for
progress has discovered in these materials the means of putting his dreams to shape.
My interest in VLSI is deep rooted. Even before I began studying it as a Science I remember
reading about the gadgets in magazines. From the invention of the first silicon transistor to the
microchip invented by Texas Instruments, from the first vacuum tubes and integrated circuits, to
the Intel microprocessor and the present day C.P.U. every event has been a milestone which I have
not only read about but also savoured for how it has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was the time to water the seeds of VLSI that were sown earlier. In 2010, I completed my
schooling from Ahlcon International School, Delhi. This marked the culmination of a 12 year
period of brilliant schooling and I must admit that much of what I have gone on to do and achieve
is the result of those years. In August 2011, I enrolled for a 4 year Bachelor s Program at Jaypee
Institute of Information Technology, Noida and opted for Electronicsand Communication as my
Major. I have spent the past few years in an atmosphere of proactive and vibrant academics.
Amidst students drawn from every corner of India and a faculty of highly qualified and widely
travelled mentors, I have flowered. I remember my teacher, Professor Satyendra Kumar, walk into
the first class of Basic Electronic Devices and Circuits and write on the board The Next Big Thing
Is Really Small. And I knew I was in the right

Analyse Your Own Strengths and Weaknesses in Counselling...
D1) Analyse own strengths and weaknesses in using counselling skills.
Use your work from P3 and analyse (consider in detail) it e.g. what are your strengths in
counselling skills, why you think they are your strengths and where do you use them. What are
your weaknesses, why do you think they are your weaknesses and what can you do to turn them
into strengths.
For Egan s first stage I think the strengths that I have in counselling would be that I explained to the
client about the contract and confidentiality that is included into the contract that is kept between
the counsellor and the client and so with this I was able to use this to be able to show the client
that this is a professional relationship and so this is explains the ... Show more content on

I think this is a strength because they need eye contact to know who they are talking to especially
if its couple or group counselling that is taking place. I would use this when being with my clients
because they would need to be able to know that I am being assertive to them when they are
expressing what they have bottled up for a long time and so this allows them to know that they can
trust me.
During the session a strength that was pointed out what that I was able to reflect throughout the
session and this is a strength because it showed that I am being assertive and being able to reflect
back to the client everything they said and also expressing the same emotion that they told me back
to them to show them what they are doing and so this shows them what emotion they are putting in
with their words so that they know how they are feeling about a certain topic. I think this is a
strength because they are able to show that I am not only listening but also taking in the

Injustice, Discrimination and Racism in Obasan by Joy...
I am black of an African American decent. I am Chinese of a Korean decent. I am white, I am
Canadian. These statements are common examples of how many people view their race and
identity. Similar to the statements made in the novels, Obasan by Joy Kogawa and More by Austin
Clarke. Both novels illustrate people as attaching an individual s identity through their race, colour
and ethnicity. Naomi Nah Cane characterized in Obasan, is born in Canada but is looked upon
and is treated as an immigrant, similar to Idora Morrison who has a Canadian citizenship and
has lived in Canada for many years is still viewed as an immigrant. Although, Naomi and Idora
both raise questions on why they don t belong in the white community, however Idora truly fights
back and raises a voice rather than Naomi who is more silent in such discriminations. Naomi was
born in Vancouver; British Colombia but always is categorized as a Japanese woman and never
accepted as a Canadian because of her physical characteristics and the past history of the war. Due
to the war in 1942 caused by the attack on Pearl Harbour by the Japanese and some British
territories, the Canadians restricted and alienated the Japanese from all of their activities; they
seized their homes and property without any compensation, evacuated the Japanese from coastal
British Columbia and even restricted them to go back. It is unreasonable to take such actions to the
Japanese and continue keeping them eliminated and alienated from

Comparing Race And La Raza Cosmica
The Readings The Race by JosГ© MartГ and La Raza Cosmica by JosГ© Vasconcelos explored the
deep analysis of races and how they function in society. MartГ explained anti racism, and his
specific life experiences that led him to the beliefs he has. Vasconcelos similarly took a different
approach on raceand explained the idea that culture plays an immense role in how a society
functions and the lasting impact it has for the future. Both works express a deep understanding of
race, and the ideology behind races. My Race by JosГ© MartГ, explains how anti racismshaped by
his life experiences led him to write this. His belief is stated clearly that he wants Cuba
specifically to be home to both blacks and whites. Similarly, he then explains how people died for
Cuba, not just blacks, or whites, or mulattos but people within the Cuban community died for this
place. In addition, MartГ explains that there are not whites or blacks, there are Cubans. Within that
race are a group of people who want to liberate... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this fashion, the synthetic race that shall gather all the treasure of history in order to give
expression to universal desire shall be created. The ideology that Vasconcelos touches on is the
cosmic race for the future of humanity. Specifically, on Spanish races which during colonization
created new and mixed races which defines the future of these races. Uniquely, the English mixed
with only whites which depleted the natives, even today white people continue to annihilate natives
in a sordid and economic fight, more efficient yet than armed conquest. His historical approach to
this common theme that the emergence of new races defines our future as a society, is stated
through various examples specifically among Latin American, and other Spanish speaking

Christian Beliefs Of Christianity
If someone were to ask me the question what are Christian s beliefs and practices, my answer
would be, a Christian goal is to have a compassionate relationship with God and Jesus Christ for
our lives today. I believe these are the two most important things to a Christian and their faith. If
you can do these things you re following Christian s beliefs. In 1 Peter 4:16 it says However, if you
suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise Godthat you bear that name. (1 Peter4:16) The
verse is saying that you shouldn t be ashamed that you re as Christian because God gave you that
opportunity. There are many ways you cans practice these beliefs such as giving all of your glory
to God and JesusChrist. This important to being a Christian... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

When we sinned too much we broke one of Gods law. For the wrath of God is revealed from
heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in
unrighteousness. (Romans 1:18) Jesus sacrificed himself and took all of our sins on his behalf
to stop the wrath of God. When Jesus Christ sacrificed himself all of our sins were forgiven. In
Isaiah 53:5 it says But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed. (Isaiah
53:5) Thanks to Jesus, God has forgiven our sin, and we need to thank him for that. Christians
worship Jesus as much as we worship God, because without Jesus there wouldn t be a human
race. We pray to Jesus and show him love for his sacrifice and putting us closer to God. Jesus is a

S Vs Std s Case Study
Section one:
STD s vs. STI s
Sexually Transmitted Infection:
When someone is infected with a sexually transmitted infection signs and symptoms of the illness
will go unnoticed until the infection develops into a disease. A person must get tested in order to
conclude if they have been infected. STI s occur when a bacteria or a virus has infected the inside of
a person s body. Depending on what virus or bacteria the person has been infected with will
determine the different type of symptoms that will develop in the future.
Sexually Transmitted Disease:
As oppose to sexually transmitted infections at this stage the infection has developed into a disease.
The person at this time has begun to notice signs and symptoms of the disease. When ... Show more

How do STD s Spread?
Sexual contact:
These diseases can spread to people who engage in sexual activities with partners of the same sex
or the opposite sex. People can be infected if they participate in sexual intercourse, anal sex or oral
genital sex with another person.
Other routes of transmission:
Other disease such as HIV, gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis and genital herpes can be transferred
to a baby while the mother is pregnant or while giving birth. If the mother has HIV she risks
spreading it to the baby through breastfeeding. Sharing contaminated needles with others also puts
people at risk of becoming infected with HIV. Another form of becoming infected could be
through a blood transfusion if it s not done safely. Sexually transmitted diseases such as genital
herpes, syphilis and chancroid create sores on the skin thus increasing the chances of spreading it
to others if the sores come into contact with another person s skin. Treating the sores can lower the
risk of spreading HIV to others that later can develop into

Jackson In What You Pawn I Will Redeem
Jackson Jackson, or Jackson to the second power, is a homeless Native American man that lives
in the Seattle Washington area. He is an honest and kind alcoholic that has no idea how to
manage or spend money. Whenever he gets even five dollars, or any money, he usually blows it
on alcohol. Until one day he sees his grandmother s regalia in a pawn shop window and goes on a
quest to win it back by getting nine hundred ninety nine dollars. He gets some money here and
there, but he always ended spending it on himself or others and could not save up the money.
Ultimately, he ends up getting the regalia through some hard work and kindness of the pawn shop
owner. In What you Pawn I Will Redeem, Sherman Alexie uses the character Jackson Jackson to...

troubled and live poor lives. He moved to Seattle for college but failed out. After that he worked
blue collar jobs. It seems that all the Indians in the story he mentions are always working these
rough blue collar jobs. They go to the bars after long hard work days or they come in from other
areas on fishing boats with some money, but nothing after that (13). They wait for the boats to
come back , but never do and after that there is no other opportunity for them. It is either they
have jobs like that or none like Jackson. Jackson has been on both sides, but never has had the
chance to better himself, partly because of his alcoholism, but also because of where he has come

A Woman s World Essay
A Woman s World
There is a great distance present between woman in education and woman in society. Women in
society, specifically the work place, do not reflect the portrayal of women in education. There is a
thin line present between the identity of woman and what characteristics are needed to succeed in
the work environment. Woman are capable of obtaining the characteristics that lead to success
however, many may question where, when and how these traits are taught to women. In What Does
a Woman Need to Know? b Andriene Rich states that woman may need to look farther than what
lessons are provided in standard education in order to achieve success in the working environment.
There is no women s college today which is providing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The majority of teachers are woman who decide how and what is taught. Woman are struggling to
obtain such different roles in society compared to the roles portrayed in these children books. It
seems as though the situation has demonstrated a revolving cycle. Children are taught that a
successful woman is otherwise known as a mommy . Today in society, many women view success
as something related to the work place. The portrayal of women in what is being taught is far
from the reality of what women are trying so hard to obtain in the work place. If the majority of
teachers are woman, then why aren t they teaching the tools to survive successfully in the work
place? If women themselves have never been taught these ideas and have had to learn the survival
techniques from within, then there is no common lesson present to teach. These lessons are
defined differently for each individual through experience, time, and observation. Being a teacher
in a career dominated by women, one is rarely challenged in the way that woman are challenged
in the mans world . Predominately teachers may not even be aware of the challenges women face
outside of a teachers profession. If they do, they have not experienced it themselves, and therefor
may not know how to go about implying survival skills through the education that one is providing.
If women teachers are not aware of what society s disadvantages are then they can not teach

  • 2. Fountain Hills Research Papers What is Fountain Hills? What is Fountain Hills, Arizona? Underneath the surface of this quiet town, there is an interesting history, an abundance of amenities, and a wealth of opportunity for entertainment and experiences. The land that became Fountain Hills has an interesting past. In the 1930 s, it was the privately owned, P Bar Ranch, and had a vague history. After changing hands several times, it came into the possession of Robert P. McCulloch. Robert Paxton McCulloch (May 11, 1911 February 25, 1977) was an entrepreneur and industrialist, who graduated from Stanford University, and had a curious history of his own. He developed the one man operated chainsaw, built three other communities, purchased the old London Bridge, developed a centrifugal supercharger used in such iconic cars as the 55 Kaiser Manhattan, 57 Studebaker Golden Hawk, and the 57 Ford Thunderbird, and built several companies still active today. McCulloch purchased the 45,000 acres of P Bar Ranch in 1960, and enlisted his friend Charles Wood, Jr. to help him start a community there.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... People always say I m funny because I m full of jokes. But I still run out of material pretty fast. So one November, when I had used my last joke on a kid across the street, I went to the search engine on my Gran s old box computer and typed: the best joke. Immediately, an ad came that said: Do you know jokes? Do you want to know the best joke in the world? Sign up and come to 422 Haha Lane on November sixteenth! There was a laughing emoji too. H.G. Wells is also known as The Father of Science Fiction. Wells has written many books that has influenced our vision of the future, The Time Machine, being his first and foremost novel. The Time Machine is the story of the Time Traveler who invents the machine, his adventures while traveling, and his recounting of the tale to the narrator and friends gathered in his home. Key Idea 1 The beginning of the book is very intriguing, pulling readers into the book and making them want to read more. The book begins in the Time Traveler s home, where he and his guests are having dinner and discussing his theories about time and time travel. When the Time Traveler tells the guests he can actually do it, they are skeptical. The Time Traveler s colleagues bombard him with protestations and thought provoking questions. This part of the book makes the reader wonder what the outcome of time traveling might be but it is obvious that the Time Traveler wholeheartedly believes in time travel. Key Idea 2 In a moment my hand was on the lever and I had placed a month between myself and these monsters. What a classic, wonderfully imaginative science fiction sentence. The story is completely and utterly engrossing. The fact that the book was published in 1895 and science lovers can still love and appreciate this book and H.G. Wells ... Trait Theory Trait theory Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Page 1 of 8 Trait theory From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Trait theory in psychology, is an approach to the study of human personality. Trait theorists are primarily interested in the measurement of traits, which can be defined as habitual patterns of behavior, thought, and emotion.[1] According to this perspective, traits are relatively stable over time, differ across individuals (e.g. some people are outgoing whereas others are shy), and influence behavior. Gordon Allport was an early pioneer in the study of traits, which he sometimes referred to as dispositions. In his approach, central traits are basic to an individual s personality, whereas secondary traits are more... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The five factor model in particular has been criticized for losing the orthogonal structure between factors.[8][9] Hans Eysenck has argued that fewer factors are superior to a larger number of partly related ones.[10] Although these two approaches are comparable because of the use of factor analysis to construct hierarchical taxonomies, they differ in the organization and number of factors. Whatever the causes, however, psychoticism marks the two approaches apart, as the five factor model contains no such trait. Moreover, psychoticism, unlike any of the other factors in either approach, does not fit a normal distribution curve. Indeed, scores are rarely high, thus skewing a normal distribution.[11] However, when they are high, there is considerable overlap with psychiatric conditions such as antisocial and schizoid personality disorders. Similarly, high scorers on neuroticism are more susceptible to sleep and psychosomatic disorders.[12] Five factor approaches can also predict future mental disorders.[13][14] Lower order factors There are two higher order factors that both taxonomies clearly share: extraversion and neuroticism. Both approaches broadly accept that extraversion is associated with sociability and positive affect, whereas neuroticism is associated with emotional instability and negative affect. • 7. The Employment Of Contemporary Virtualization Technologies Cloud Computing Anthony D Payne CSIA 412 Professor Miller March 1, 2015 Through the employment of contemporary virtualization technologies, with the incorporation of advanced tools that expands the coverage of the systems administrator, the cost and labor of operations will be significantly lowered. Efficiency improvement will have a direct impact on operation costs of many institutions. Resources that could have been used in the buying and maintaining data center infrastructure will be used in citizen centered services and other new innovations that can go a long way to assist the citizen and ensure smooth running of the government. Therefore, cloud computing will be a driving force to ensuring efficiency in the way public resources are managed to the advantage of the people. Every public office has a data center infrastructure where its data is stored and retrieved when needed. In most cases, this infrastructure is underutilized. With cloud computing, the data storage sections are eliminated because of pooling of IT Infrastructure resources and sharing across a large number of organizations and offices that are possible with cloud computing. The wastage that is realized when data centered are not utilized is thus eliminated because different offices have peak seasons in different times hence making the system to be put in use all year round. This ensures that public assets are better utilized and loses reduces or even eliminated. Due to fragmented nature of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Thus, the use of sources influences the language and tone used in the scholarship. • 11. To what extent was the Dawes Plan a turning point for... To what extent was the Dawes Plan a turning point for Germany, 1919 1933? Explain your answer. The Dawes Plan of 1924 was formulated to take Weimar Germany out of hyperinflation and to return Weimar s economy to some form of stability. It helped Germany return to its pre war state. Economically, socially and politically Germany seemed to be more stable than it was in previous and following years. However, this stable period seemed to have been built on unstable foundations. The economy appeared to have stabalised with the introduction of the Dawes Plan. Before 1924, Germany was experiencing hyperinflation. The old Papiermark was rapidly depreciating and so Germany had to print more and more of it to pay reparations. By December 1922... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore there was a decline in extremist parties such as the Communists and the National Socialists because many Germans didn t want an extreme change and liked Germany as it was. This was a turning point for Germany because it seemed that the extremist parties would not be capable of getting seats in the parliament. Also, Stresemann convinced the public that a democratic government would solve any problems quickly and many believed him. The popularity of the Social Democrats increased and they had the majority of the seats in the parliament (153). This was a turning point for Germany because people started to believe that this new democratic government would remain stable and prosperous for the years to come. The Dawes Plan allowed this to happen because it gave the Republic the money it needed to invest in the economy for the people. However, this success seemed to be short term and relied on Germany s unguaranteed success to keep people from voting for extremist parties. Although Stresemann s Germany looked promising, there was still political instability because no one party could gain a majority in the republic. Governments had to be formed from coalitions of parties working together. This meant that decision making was difficult and could easily be overturned by a smaller, less significant party. Up to 1930, the Social Democrats always won the most votes, but never enough to govern on their own. There were twenty five ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Ichabod In Tim Burton s Sleepy Hollow Although Tim Burton s Sleepy Hollow is a depiction of Washington Irving s The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, the movie is quite different than the original horror story. Burton takes a legendary ghost tale and transforms it into a murder mystery. He alters the character roles and add more properties to assist in redesigning the film. By taking Ichabod, the main character and shifting his career, Burton is able to develop the plot that initially sets the change from one genre to another. In the original story, Ichabod is an awkwardly, thin school teacher who loves engaging in stories about the supernatural. He believes in science and reasoning making him a not so easy target to be scared by the supernatural. This is why Burton s Ichabod is a detective and the headless horseman is considered to be a murderer instead of ghostly figure who haunts the living. Changing Ichabod s profession is an extremely essential part of the film. It serves as the main purpose as to why the genre is changed to a murder mystery. By having Ichabod as a constable, Ichabod searches for clues and seeks out to find the headless horsemen. If Burton had not changed Ichabod s profession, it would be relatively impractical to see a cowardly teacher on a murder scene trying to catch the suspect. Although Burton s Ichabod is a detective, he still possess qualities of a teacher. For instance, he takes young Masbeth under his wing. Taking Masbeth on excursions with him through Sleepy Hollow, he teaches him how to investigate through experiences. Ichabod s investigation of the victims is also quite similar to a teacher. Like chemistry teachers who perform experiments in a laboratory, Ichabod does the same. During this time people doubted the existence of God and what the Church has to say about the laws and such. Older dogmatic suggestions were changed in America at this time as the colonies were no longer constrained by England. The attitudes in the colonies also changed political views through these ideas. Mary is trying to tell us that women are not subservient to a man but are equals and those who don t struggle to get their freedom do not value it. She also believes women should have an education which leads me to my next paragraph. Secondly, Mary Wollstonecraft believed that women are intellectuals that deserve an education. Mary believed that appearance did not make the woman but the knowledge the obtained through education and through education they would obtain reason. Mary thought women should be educated if they were widowed so they wouldn t have to marry or get remarried and so they could provide stability and sustenance to themselves and their children if any. To have at least the basic human rights women should first obtain reason and rationality which, in Mary s opinion, is what separates humans from animals. The Arts and Crafts Movement Essay The Arts and Craft movement was a social and artistic movement, which began in Britain in the second half of the nineteenth century and continued into the twentieth spreading to continental Europe and the USA. Its adherents artists, architects, designers and Craftsmen sought to reassert the importance of and craftsmanship in all arts in the face of increasing industrialization, which they felt was sacrificing quality in the pursuit of quantity. Its supporters and practioners were united not so much by a style rather than the common goal a desire to break down the hierarchy of the arts and to revive traditional handicrafts and make art that could be affordable to all. They thought that the simple but refined aesthetics of Arts and Crafts decorative arts would ennoble the new experience of industrial consumerism, making individuals more rational and society more harmonious. In short, the American Arts and Crafts Movement was the aesthetic counterpart of its contemporary political movement: Progressivism. I want you to stand on Ben s point of view. And think, what if your coach kicked you out of your football team simply because you weren t masculine enough for the sport? Eleanor was more than a president s wife; she was an eloquent speaker, delegate of the United Nations, and overall an independent woman. Anna Eleanor Roosevelt was born on October 11, 1884 in New York City. She grew up with a wealthy family in the Manhattan boroughs. She was the sister of two younger brothers: Elliott Jr. and Hall. Her parents, Elliott and Ann, were socialites at the top of New York s society. Although her parents were wealthy, it did not buy them their happiness. Before Eleanor was five, her father broke his ankle while doing somersaults for the county circus. To reduce the pain of his injury, Elliott began drinking more heavily. Because of Elliott s moodiness and depression, he set out to find a cure for himself. This separated him from all of his children, including Eleanor. Without Eleanor s father with her, she became discouraged. Her only wish was to make her father happy. Not only was Eleanor upset over Elliott leaving; Anna was as well. • 19. Constructivism And The Theory Of Constructivism We have all been guilty of doing it, making assumptions about someone based on what we have seen or been through. We see a person or an object and classify it as tall, wealthy, ugly, pretty, etc. Categorizing what we see can be helpful but sometimes it can lead to stereotyping. But why do we make assumptions? The theory of Constructivism can help us understand why we categorize things we see into constructs and how these constructs can be harmful and how they can benefit or hurt us when we communicate with others. The theory of constructivism helps explain how meaning can be developed through interactions we have. The basis of the theory was started by George Kelly who was a main author in the Personal Construct Theory. This theory discussed insight and how it can be gained by people s interactions and perceptions and how they use their observations to make attributions. It claimed that individuals understand the world around them by organizing and recognizing people and events by their personal constructs they create. Personal constructs can be explained as sets of opposites into which objects are classified (Lee 2016) such as rich poor, cheap expensive, etc. This helped pave the way for constructivism, which reasons that people classify their experiences into groups so they can help give meaning to it and can make sense of the situation. • 22. The Causes And Effects Of CO2 Ocean Acidification CO2 ocean acidification has become a big problem. This problem started increasing around the industrial revolution. Since the industrial revolution the ocean has become more acidic by 30%. Industrial and agricultural activities have released more and more carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. Studies show that a quarter of all carbon dioxidereleased into the atmosphere is absorbed into the ocean. As the CO2 levels rise in the atmosphere, the CO2 levels also rise in the ocean. The CO2 that is absorbed into the ocean changes the chemistry of the ocean making the water more acidic. This process is called ocean acidification. [1] When the CO2 dissolves into the water, it mixes with the water (H2O) and creates carbonic acid(H2CO3). This reaction is reversible and it is a equilibrium. This means that this reaction is balanced and if you add something to one side the result will come out equal to the other. For example if you added more CO2 the reaction will produce more H2CO3. Adding more H2CO3 will make Hydrogen and bicarbonate appear more abundantly. H2CO3 easily breaks down into HCO3 1 (Bicarbonate) and H+(Hydrogen). Shellfish in the sea rely on calcium carbonate to form their shells. Since there is an abundance of hydrogen in the ocean, carbonate combines with the hydrogen. Carbonate would rather combine with hydrogen than calcium. This is why ocean acidification is causing a depletion in the population of shellfish. [3] Scientist would not have been able to ... • 24. Summary Of Mira Nair And Mississippi Masala Mira Nair and Mississippi Masala (1991) IntroductionMira Nair is an independent filmmaker who splits her time between New York City, Kampala, and wherever her next project takes her. As appraised by the writers at RogerEbert.com, Nair has made a career of presenting audiences with characters they may not know first hand, but connect with personally (2016). Her work is a delicate balance between the exploration of complex issues of identity and displacement and the humor and vibrancy of everyday life. Background Born on October 15, 1957 in Bhubaneshwar, Orissa, India, young Nair watched as her father, a civil servant, helped mold India s new identity (IMDb, 2017). At the age of sixteen, Nair pursued protest theater in Kolkata (kael kun taa), capital of West Bengal state (Badt, 2004, pg. 10). Her college career began at Delhi University, with a focus on theater, and continued at Harvard University, where Nair became enamored with cinГ©ma vГ©ritГ© and sociology (Badt, 2004, pg. 10). She directed her first work, Jama Masjid Street Journal (1979), at the age of 22 (Nair Meer, 1991, pg. 47). The thematic aspect of Nair s films remains consistent. Her work explores the concept of otherness, as seen in the dancers of India Cabaret (documentary, 1985), the homeless children of Salaam Bombay! One main concern Jason has is all of the differences in the 4 F B outlets and that they all come out of the same kitchen. He says that the club s foodcost is at 42% while his restaurant is at 28%, which is a huge difference. One way to eliminate such a high food waste for Steve may be to prepare less duck each day, and if they run out they have other high quality dishes to replace them. Another issue was the use of all fresh ingredients. Jason appreciates the quality of food but also states that frozen ingredients can offer nearly the same quality for some foods for much less of a cost. His doctrine states: It is, in practice, simply not possible to adopt such a critical attitude towards an employer and at the same time provide good service. It is not simply that one is unlikely to be able to meet the many demands of service at the higher levels while one s attentions are being diverted by such matters; more fundamentally, a butler who is forever attempting to formulate his own strong opinions on his employer s affairs is bound to lack one quality essential in all good professionals: namely, loyalty. This semester we tried to learn and discuss the influence of research work in landscape architecture design. Landscape architecture is becoming more and more important in people s daily life today and it is essential for us to have a good awareness of how research work would affect landscape architecture design. I will illustrate this point from three parts: (1) why is research an integral part of landscape architecture? (2) what roles do it fill? (3) how will landscape architecture be impacted by over the fifty years as a result of landscape architecture research? First of all, a successful landscape architecture design work is not only based on designers design technique and talent, information about the site and guideline of the design process are also important issues. Evidence based design is an ideal example of landscape architecture design today, which is a theory emphasizing credible evidence to influence design work. It is vey popular in healthcare field and designers try to perfect their work by credible information. So, information is really important in landscape design today. Our world is full of information and information is really easily acquired today by internet. Information is essential for our design work. While, not all of information we collected is true. I hadn t known that stereotyping had a reason behind it, especially not a cognitive one. Stereotypes are a result of the way we process information, even social information. We categorize each other and I believe there s no danger in that. Stereotypes are unavoidable. We categorize people everyday. Just the other day I saw a kid with a cape playing a ukulele and I thought man that kid is weird. Which is normal to assess because people don t do that everyday. Now everytime I see the kid I associate him with the term weirdo. In my schemas I ll remember people who play ukuleles and wear capes as weird.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As the music lowers and the group of people I had just categorized walked ahead of me, I saw that each and every last one of them were white males. It is unlikely that my stereotype will change although the piece of information was shocking. This I believe is due to concentrated disconfirmation. There s only one rare example that proves my stereotype about white boys wrong compared to the countless stereotypes provided by real life experience, media, and peers that support this stereotype. The only way that this stereotype would change is if there is dispersed disconfirmation. • 38. Diversity And Originality Of The Philippine Culture In The... The diversity and originality of the Philippine culture are outstanding and is heavily influenced by the Spanish, who brought their own to spice up Philippine s culture, religion, lifestyle, and way of thinking. It all dates back during 1564; it is one of the most significant years of the Philippine history for it is a year in which the invasions on the Filipinos by New Spain led by Miguel LГіpez de Legazpi were successful. It was not until later, however, when Legazpi and the Spanish created perennial settlements around the coasts of Cebu despite heavy opposition from the Cebuanos. Additionally, the Spanish sought after up and running, albeit small, communities without central governing figures to perhaps strengthen the rule of the Governor General Legazpi. Around this time, religion began playing a significant role in the Philippines as the Filipinos were divided between Muslim and Catholic rule. The former deemed more dominant as the group was much larger than the former, however, things were bound to change under Legazpi and the Spaniards. Generally speaking, the number of Muslims in Mindanao and Sulu were much higher than in Visayas and Luzon as the organizations were bigger and more organized, thus it was easier to start with smaller groups. The Spanish took this opportunity and decided to Catholicize the small communities before spreading the religion into a much bigger scale. It became the root of the conflict between Muslim Filipinos and Christian Filipinos. On ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. The Laws Created By Solon And The Public Reaction Versus... In this essay I will cover the laws created by Solon and the public reaction versus the acts done by Pisistratus during his age of Tyranny on Athens, to highlight the different approaches of two men with opposing ideals about how Athens should be governed and which one worked out best for the people. So in essence, did Solons reforms make a better constitution in terms of the prosperity of the people, than the laws created by Pisistratus during his Tyranny? Solon is hailed as the person who started the democratization process in Athens though what he created is not what we would call a democracy. Solon was chosen by the people to create the constitution of Athens after the Draconian reforms of 621 B.C which were extremely harsh and drove the lucky people into slavery, for almost all other offences the penalty was death; the rich got richer and the poor got poorer, the overall morale of the people was low. According to Aristotle (the Constitution of Athens) the strife was keen, and for a long time the two parties were ranged in hostile camps against one another, till at last, by common consent, they appointed Solon to be the mediator and Archon, and committed the whole constitution to his hands. The civic unrest was so disastrous that Athens needed a radicle change. According to this same source, Solon illegalised the action of placing a debt on ones person so that if they failed to return what they had borrowed they were not punished so drastically as to be sold into ... Statement Of Purpose For A Robot STATEMENT OF PURPOSE Motion Engaged , as it displayed, the robot turned around and moved towards the fourteen year old, whose fathomless curiosity waited for answers to a thousand questions regarding the mysterious object. Just one thought kept coming back to me which one of them was a miracle, the components that made the robot alive, or the man who knew exactly what to do with them. Both, I finally concluded. If god has blessed us with semiconductors, it is man, who in his conquest for progress has discovered in these materials the means of putting his dreams to shape. My interest in VLSI is deep rooted. Even before I began studying it as a Science I remember reading about the gadgets in magazines. These statements are common examples of how many people view their race and identity. Similar to the statements made in the novels, Obasan by Joy Kogawa and More by Austin Clarke. Both novels illustrate people as attaching an individual s identity through their race, colour and ethnicity. Naomi Nah Cane characterized in Obasan, is born in Canada but is looked upon and is treated as an immigrant, similar to Idora Morrison who has a Canadian citizenship and has lived in Canada for many years is still viewed as an immigrant. Although, Naomi and Idora both raise questions on why they don t belong in the white community, however Idora truly fights back and raises a voice rather than Naomi who is more silent in such discriminations. Naomi was born in Vancouver; British Colombia but always is categorized as a Japanese woman and never accepted as a Canadian because of her physical characteristics and the past history of the war. Due to the war in 1942 caused by the attack on Pearl Harbour by the Japanese and some British territories, the Canadians restricted and alienated the Japanese from all of their activities; they seized their homes and property without any compensation, evacuated the Japanese from coastal British Columbia and even restricted them to go back.
